Observation Of A Soaproom
After the outdoor activity, children back to classroom and ready for the snake. There were two
children standing in front of the sink waiting for wash hands and two children was washing. Child A
said There is too crowded. Could you move a little bit? Child B responded There is another sink, you
guys can use another one. Child C said But you took the hand soap. I am using it Child A responded.
Child D asked Why we don t have more soaps? We can make bubbles!

they want to have more soaps and they would like to make bubbles. Interests and skills: Based on my
observation, Children seem to demonstrate the interest in make soap, they want to have more soaps

I will planning children to make their own soap. Firstly I will invite the children to melt the soap by
heating in a saucepan on the stove over medium heat. Once the soap becomes a liquid, have the
children remove it from the heat and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes. When the soap is in a liquid
state, Children can add 1 teaspoon of peppermint, lavender essential oil or cinnamon for a wonderful
scent, or 1 tablespoon of ground oatmeal for a bit of texture or add milk to make the soap smoother.
Pour the soap into molds and cover the mold with a towel overnight. Put the mold in the freezer for a
few hours the next day, then remove the soap from the mold.

Analysis And Belief Of The Crocodile
Analysis and Belief
The crocodile has a significant role in Papua New Guinea culture. The people over there believe that
reptiles are human s ancestors. The reason they are cutting their skin and pretending to be a crocodile
is because they also believe by withstanding the pain, they will be strong enough to face the
difficulties and problems in the future. Also the skin cutting act is for separating young men from the
world of womenfolk, and to fill them with the power of crocodile.
Another reason that they want to cut their skin is because without the skin cutting rituals, they (young
men) are not a full member of their father s clan. It is an interesting culture which very different to
modern society s because we were born to be our family s clan, we don t have to do anything to prove
because we have already had our birth certificate. Since it is too easy to be one of our family s clan,
there s a certain amount of the people doesn t appreciate of their identity and always against their
family unlike the people in Chambri Tribe. They value it, they have to withstand the skin cutting pain
and the chances of death especially they are still in a third world country. They cherish their identity
and their family members. Rituals
The skin cutting rituals takes place every four to five years. Boys as early as 12 until 35 can have the
cutting rituals to prove themselves. Since the rituals are very expensive and it is not such a thing that it
is affordable by one family and they

Statutory Rape Double Standards
Can we take a moment to think about how there are so many double standards when it comes to sex
and I m not just talking about the typical guys can have casual sex with multiple people and get
praised for it but when a woman does it she gets slut shamed? I m talking about the double standards
with statutory rape, for example, a 17 year old boy was sentenced 10 years in prison for having
consensual oral sex with a 15 year old. I m wondering so is the 15 year old girl going to jail too? So
let s start from the beginning statutory rape refers to having sexual relations under the age of consent
which is different in states but typically is between the ages of 16 18 here in the US. Now statutory
rape and child molester is not the same thing, statutory

Benefits Of Using Pvc Used For An Enterprise Of Pvc Furniture
CHAPTER 5
RESULT DISCUSSION
5.1 RESULT DISCUSSION
It can be easily understood by this paper that there are enormous benefits of using PVC in various
applications. Setting up an enterprise of PVC furniture can give us high returns at low input cost.
Initial set up cost of PVC furniture enterprise is also less as compared to other enterprises of same
level. This project requires less area because of its simple fabrication process and less machines
required with reduced inventory. Dedicating ourselves towards protecting environment it can save
thousands/lakhs of trees which would otherwise be used in making furniture. Also precious earth
metals can be saved for more purposeful use by using PVC in many applications. Polyvinyl chloride
(PVC) pipe are leading the way in replacing the various other materials that have been previously used
in pipe construction; they have only been scarcely used in the past, however over the past 30 years
they have proven themselves to be more than worthy replacements for the conventional materials such
as steel and iron.
PVC has a myriad of advantages over traditionally used materials. For starters, PVC and PE pipe are
very durable materials; they are just as strong as iron, which is crucial due to pipes exposure to both
internal and external pressures. However, arguably two of their most important attributes are that they
neither corrode, nor do they have a

Listening To Sounds Analysis
Upon finishing listening to what was my first podcast ever, it did not necessarily change my thoughts
about noise of modern life. This is because I am and have always been an appreciator of the simple
things in life. For example, I am the type of person who will sit in an airport and just think about the
fact that in this one place where there are a multiple number of people, each of them has their own
life. Each of these lives are being carried out all at the same time, and each of those lives are filled
with different experiences, different losses, different gains, they have each had a vulnerable moment
and a moment where they were filled with love and more importantly each of them has their own
story. Each of these people have their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best thing about the noise in our society is that although there is a negative effect in situations of
the ability to listen to personal music, there is also a positive side which encompasses the same thing.
The reason that most of us listen to our own music is not only possibly a sub conscious effort to
seclude ourselves from other around us, but also because we want to please ourselves by listening to
sounds or music we like. Therefore, one example of how noise in our society promotes
communication would be when a group of strangers are somewhere and here the new Taylor Swift
song that they all love, they catch themselves singing and dancing to it, simultaneously noticing the
others doing the same which breaks that barrier of being strangers by making them realize they have
something in common. This later leads to them speaking to each other and possibly beginning a
relationship. Similarly, from a more fundamental perspective sounds as simple as someone chopping
wood outside, singing in the shower in the morning, or the sound of a jump rope hitting the pavement
as little kids play, all play in the role of promoting communication; all you have to do is listen for

Essay about A Diagnosis of Cancer is Life Changing Experience
A diagnosis of cancer is life changing and affects the whole family. It has been documented in some
studies that family members experience equal if not higher levels of anxiety or depression than the
cancer patient themselves (Hacialioglu et al, 2010). Hasson et al (2010) found that spouses of patients
who had been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer reported more psychological distress than
patients and were above the clinical cutoff. These results are comparable with a study carried out by
Hodges and Humphris (2009) in which caregivers of patients who had been diagnosed with cancer had
higher psychological distress and fear of recurrence than the patient. These results could potentially be
associated with caregivers emotional strain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Longer term survivors and caregivers were found to be more distress and anxious ( 3 years). Other
studies confirmed this findings and reported partners had significantly higher levels of burden one
year after treatment. This could be associated with caregivers expectation that the patient would
quickly revert back to the role of partner (Schmid Buchi et al, 2011; Moreira et al, 2013). Providing
care for more than twenty hours a week was significantly associated with depression among
caregivers. Greater impact on caregivers schedule also predicted to increase guilt (Jaafar et al, 2014;
Spillers et al, 2008). However, Tang et al (2013) found providing end of life care for a relative, guilt
was derived from lacking time to provide care. Therefore caregivers who spent 17 24 hours a day may
have felt less deprived than those who provided 8 hours as the patient death approached. Carers
distress increases as patients cancer progresses to more advanced and terminal stages, where the
patient experiences more physical symptoms like pain. Given et al (2004) found a linear relationship
existed between higher numbers of patients symptoms (pain, nausea, distress, deterioration) and
caregivers level of depressive symptoms. Caregivers of patients receiving palliative care have high
prevalence of psychological distress during bereavement. Six

The Reason That Chip Wilson Plunged Lululemon Into Crisis
Analysis The reason that Chip Wilson plunged Lululemon into crisis again is because of three major
issues: lack of media training as a spokesperson, lack of comprehensive crisis management plan in the
company, and failure of internal communication. First of all, spokesperson media training is part of
crisis preparation. In this case, lacking media training includes training for a TV interview and training
for filming a video apology. Prior to Chip Wilson s interview with Bloomberg TV, managers from the
PR department should have conducted a comprehensive media training to Wilson. Topics cover from
diagnosing company s vulnerabilities, to preparing for difficult questions, to how to utilize chances to
re enhance the company s image, and how to risk averse after a major crisis. As Wilson s answer
caused another crisis, I assume that he was not ready to answer the questions of sheer pants recall, nor
he was ever participated in any media training at all. Erik Bernstein who runs a crisis management
blog noted that some people should never act as spokesperson. In fact, what surprised me was that as a
company s founder and chairman of board, it was Chip Wilson s responsibility to have a general
knowledge about the crisis and what caused the crisis and what procedures they have taken to solve
the crisis. Even though he was never prepared for those questions beforehand, answers such as women
s bodies don t fit its pants should have never came up. This crisis could have been

Slam Poetry Essay
In the early 1980s, Slam Poetry caught flight in small coffee shops in Austin, Texas., New York City,
New York., Chicago, Illinois., Seattle, Washington., and San Francisco, California during slots of open
mic which invite an artist of any kind: poet, narrators, musicians, and comedians of all types to share
their art (Power Poetry). Years later as Slam Poetry got more recognition and spread to more areas
around the country. The first Poetry Slam was originated by a man named Marc Kelly Smith. Marc
Kelly defines Slam Poetry as a performance incorporated with the poetry, but a less stiff form of
poetry. Spoken word poetry which is more commonly known as Slam is a more fluid art than written

After reading at the Get Me High Lounge for many poetry nights which he hosted, Marc Smith
thought of a way to make poetry less dry and boring, a way to spice up the readings and bring
entertainment to the words which became Slam Poetry (Boudreau). Marc is known for saying that he
wanted to give the poetry back to the people, back to the audience instead of it belonging to academics
like it had been in the times before. The word Slam was used for this performance poetry because as
Marc explained it in an interview with Olivier Vanderra at BlaQ Socrates and Sapient Soul Furman
University, In America, Slam means either something very, very good or something very, very bad.
And I was uh, I had to come up with a name for the show real[ly] quick I was thinking of Grand
Slam/home run and I was also thinking of Slamming the door on somebody so The name really quite
compliments the art because during the performance of Slam you can hear, see, and feel each emotion
with the performer. The audience feels the weight of bewilderedness, fright, or anger with the
performer or feels each excited, hopeful, or beautiful moment shared through the poem whichever
emotion comes, if the performer did well, you should feel like the emotion slammed into you
(Vanderra). A rush of feelings that should be the only thing you can focus on because the performance

The Hawthorne Pros And Cons
RE: The Manor (Mr. Quixotic Malicious Lullaby) Hawthorne s demeanour, along with the atmosphere
in the room had changed the moment Harper discovered the X on the wall, and the implements that
lay beside it on the board. From the moment she d arrived at the Manor, he d resisted his own arousal,
and attempted to gauge, internally, how far Harper would go, or what her fantasies entailed. Her
reaction, which demonstrated surprise and curiosity, to him, rather shock of fear, had eased any

The Five Steps of Grief
Grief is a process that involves five important steps to correctly deal with a painful situation or the
loss of someone important in ones life. In the famous play Hamlet written by William Shakespeare a
young boy is forced into the grieving process when his father dies. The audience can see him go
through all five step, and also can see how the ones around him also go through the process. To
overcome grief effectively all five steps must be experienced but not in any particular order and
through the stories the readers can see how each character deals with grief differently but eventually
all reach acceptance. Lorraine Hansberry, writes about a family is all waiting for the arrival of their

9). It is normal way people show how they feel about the situation and is a response appropriate to
griefing. People to often think that depression needs to be fixed and cured but it is not that easy and
one needs to go through the normal sadness to begin the next step. Beneatha in The Raisin in The Sun
states that she believes she is nothing(451). She thinks that her life will never amount to anything
important because she is going through the stage depression. This may seem dramatic but it is normal
in the grieving process.
Bargaining is next step in the process and in involves many what if statements. It may be pleading for
god to give back what you lost. Many people believe that if only they did something different they
could have saved their love one or not had to grief. The authors of Complicated Grief and
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in Humans response to Death of Pets/Animals write about how
bargaining to an extreme can cause grief and make people believe that the incident may be their fault
when it truly wasn t (par. 8). Grief makes people try to bargain, they believe if only they could go back
and change something everything would be better. Ruth in The Raisin in The Sun says she wishes
walter would not fight her, she can not control him though.(408) She wishes this because she wants
the situation to stop and believes by bargaining

LMS are closed circuit platforms (logins, restricted access to classes), so the idea of sharing contents

systemic nature of LMS. LMS is the framework that handles all aspects of the learning process. An
LMS is the infrastructure that delivers and manages instructional content, identifies and assesses
individual and organizational learning or training goals, tracks the progress towards meeting those
goals, and collects and presents data for supervising the learning process of the organization as a
whole.[7] There different learning management systems

Evaluating The Role Of Effective Communication In Team...
In team settings, I generally take the role of team maintenance. Conflict resolving and comforting are
the two C s that are not task related. I believe the role of conflict resolving and comforting is so
important because many diverse teams have fault lines that can cause conflict within the team. Last
month, I was placed on team to come up with a new idea on how to instruct new hires to position a
newly developed product. I found myself acting as the mediator amongst colleagues. During the
storming stage, two employees had a shouting match during a brainstorming session. I quickly tried to
deescalate the issue by address their concerns with a question that would provide value and clarity to
their argument. The debate sparked based on an issue

Homeschooling And Public Education
Is your child at the age where they need to begin their education? Are you conflicted with the many
options of where to educate your child? When it comes to the issue of education, many people from
educators to students to parents to administrators to politicians have different ideas as to what makes
for the best education. According to Samantha Moore, in her evaluation essay titled There s no place
like home, she argues that homeschooling provides a better educational experience for students over
the public school system. Specifically she states that evaluating homeschooling through aesthetic,
moral, and practical criteria favors homeschooling over public school (Moore, 2017, p. 2). In other
words, she expresses that homeschooling is better morally, is cheaper and more convenient, and is
safer. While I agree that for some students faced with certain situations, homeschooling is the better
option, I disagree with Moore s overall claim that homeschooling is the best option for students over
public education. By examining the examples from her evaluation essay in a different way, it will
become clear that the American public school system is actually the best option when it comes to
students education. Although Moore makes a point that homeschooled students are often involved in
various activities outside of their home, allowing them the social skills that the majority of people
believe they lack, her argument is flawed in the sense that those activities allowing

Problems regarding the managing and developing of Hogsmeadow Garden Centre
Question #3:
Summarize the problems faced by Don Dursley in managing and developing his centre.
There are a plethora of setbacks being faced by Don Dursley in the development of his garden centre.
Perhaps the most evident one is the problem of inventory management. Dursley insists that the
weather is impossible to predict and plays a major role in determining inventory. The problem if
determining adequate staffing is another obvious problem of Dursley. Even though there are 12 staff
members working at the restaurant at lunch time, there are still long lines to buy food. Outside of the
restaurant, Dursley needs the right mix of workers to respond to fluctuations in demand. The seating at
Honeydukes is not ample to serve the amount of customers dining at the restaurant. The costs incurred
in running the garden centre have escalated and have exceeded the revenue generated from its
operations. Based on the assumption that public transportation is not allowed on the premises,
Hogsmeadow is losing customers who do not have private means of transportation.

The Theory And Practice Of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism
The Theory and Practice of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism First published in 1949, Orwell certainly
believed that the novel would have some higher purpose in the political sphere, and it did. But perhaps
it wasn t the purpose that was truly intended? Nearly seventy years after its first appearance, 1984 can
be found on many high school, college and political group reading lists. Coining terms such as Big
Brother, or thoughtcrime, the novel created an entirely new type of dystopian society defined by many
as Orwellian. But with close reading one can see that George Orwell wrote 1984 for a very specific
purpose. In 1984 Orwell writes about the dangers of deviating from a true socialist society. In order to
completely understand 1984, one must first understand the history surrounding the novel. Written
from 1947 to December 1948, 1984 first hit shelves in June of 1949. The Second World War, which
ravaged England, Europe, and much of the world, ended a mere four years prior. Along with the rest
of Europe, London was still rebuilding from the constant bombings, and still mourning the incredible
loss of life. But there was a growing threat that could not be ignored. The Soviet Union, in an effort to
prevent future attacks, occupied much of Eastern Europe (known as the Eastern Bloc), including
Eastern Germany, and the eastern portion of Berlin. As the year 1948 came and went, the people of
Europe saw the Berlin Blockade, and the monumental airlift to keep West Berlin

Eassy On Identity
Growing up in a household with parents of two different religious backgrounds has contributed to my
identity and continues to act as an important factor in what defines me as a person. My mom was
raised as a Lutheran Christian, and my dad was raised as Jewish. As a child, sharing this information
with my peers around the holiday season made me quickly grow accustomed to hearing, wow, so that
means you get, like, double the presents! Even though this may be true, coming from a religiously
diverse family impacts my life in ways much more significant than just double the presents. It has
provided me with different experiences to learn about both faiths and to gain a better understanding of
how certain beliefs compare and contrast.Since a picture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My dad does, however come with us to the Christmas and Easter services out of respect, although he
doesn t participate in any of the singing or the taking of Holy Communion.Because my family wants
to respect both religions, my parents decided that it was best to celebrate all of the Jewish holidays as
well. My dad is very proud of his faith, and over the year she has really enjoyed teaching my siblings
and me all about the different holidays and their significance. He attends temple every once in awhile,
but he has never asked any of us to go with him, nor have we asked him. In the future I would like to
go, because I want to see Judaism in a more formal way, rather than just in my house. I feel very lucky
that I am educated about the Jewish culture, because it tends to get overlooked in today s society.
Through celebrating the Jewish holidays like Rosh Hashanah, Passover, and Yom Kippur, I have been
introduced to many new types of foods, traditions, and prayers. One of my favorite Jewish traditions
happens during Passover. The tradition consists of my dad hiding the afikomen, which is a half piece
of matzo, the unleavened bread typically eaten during Passover. The tradition brought so much joy to
my siblings and me because we tried to watch my dad very carefully to see where he hid it, but he
somehow always found a way to hide it without us knowing when and where he did so. After the
traditional Passover meal was finished, my siblings and I would race up out of our chairs to go wildly
search for it. Whichever kid found it first was given a prize, and it was usually a few bucks, so we
were always very competitive in trying to find it. Eventually, I wasn t allowed to look for it anymore
because I got too old, which I found very unfair, but my brother and sister loved it because now they
had a better chance of finding it first. My dad loves carrying out this tradition, because it reminds him
of when he was young and playing

Reform Malpractice Laws to Create True Healthcare Reform...

day and each time they are spoken, a line is drawn between doctor and patient. On one side is the
doctor wondering if enough has been done to defend against being sued for malpractice. On the other
side is the patient with a need for someone to blame for his or her condition and seeing the doctor as
the sole reason for any injured state. This division between doctor and patient has led to a practice
called defensive medicine and it has also created a healthcare system riddled with inefficiency and in
need of an overhaul. There is talk of healthcare reform and how it is important to control costs to the

The United States legal system exists with many favorable conditions for filing malpractice lawsuits,
including low burden of proof requirements, lax limits on damage awards, and the lack of a cost
sharing provision on filing a legal action.
Impact of Defensive Medicine
The same World Health Organization presentation details the cost of medical litigation rising from $3
billion per year to $24 billion per year between 1975 and 2002 (Dietrich, 2005, pg. 27). The amounts
awarded in medical lawsuits have an impact on healthcare delivery in the form of increased insurance
costs to the consumer and doctor, or a reduction in services to help cover the cost of litigation. A
survey conducted by the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) asked 900 physicians if they had
practiced defensive medicine procedures. Eighty three percent of the doctors reported that they had
ordered defensive procedures an average of 18 to 28 percent of the time. They also indicated they had
ordered hospitalizations about 13 percent of the time to avoid potential lawsuits. The MMS estimates
that the excess procedures cost the state at least $1.4 billion a year, and the group believes that amount
is an underestimate due to only 46 percent of doctors in the state participating in the survey (Gulla,
2008).

Comparing Sigmund Freud s Life And Breuer
While Freud was a medical student he was introduced to Josef Breuer through physiologist Ernst
Brucke. Josef Breuer eventually became friends with Freud and later on introduced Freud to Wilhelm
Fliess. Fliess and Breuer were two influential individuals in Freud s life and Breuer greatly influenced
the development of psychoanalysis. Josef Breuer was a Viennese physician who used hypnotism to
treat hysteria and eventually Freud also used hypnosis to treat his own patients which helped him form
his ideas on unconscious desires. Freud adopted Breuer s cathartic method in the treatment of his own
patients and it was here that he developed his ideas about the role of unconscious conflicts in hysteria
and other forms of neurosis in great depth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A passing Christian knocked his cap off while telling him to get out of the way and expressing how
much he disliked Jews. Instead of standing up to the Christian, Freud s father just moved out of the
way and retrieved his cap from the ground. After hearing this story Freud was greatly affected because
he lost confidence in his father as a role model. Freud later based his Oedipus Complex theory off of
Sophocles s play Oedipus the King. The story was similar to his father s story only in the play when
the main character is told to move off the road by the king the character instead retaliates and murders
the king. The Oedipus Complex is a child s desire for sexual involvement with either the mother or the
father depending on the child s gender followed by rivalry with the parent of the same sex (Breger,
2012). The Oedipal theory somewhat combines Freud s longing for his mother s attention and his
contempt for his father. Freud did not want to apply his patient s traumatic experiences to himself so
instead he applied his own experiences to his patients through this Oedipal

Chavez Decided To Nationalize Cargill Essay
Chavez decided to nationalize Cargill due to not producing a cheaper rice that is included in price

alternative could have been to impose a hefty fine, similar when companies break laws in the United
States. Cargill is a US company and this might be an attempt to not allow profits to be brought back to
the US and remain in Venezuela. Cargill said it has complied with all laws and regulations and the
plant was manufacturing Parboiled rice at this site for the last 7 years (Fox News, 2009). Chavez is

When someone who has had some contact with Lean Manufacturing talks about waste they are often
talking about Muda, or the seven wastes (or 8+ wastes depending on your definitions), but they often

Is Banning Skinny Models the Solution to the Rising Amount of Eating Disorders?
Every year, hundreds of thousands of people tune in to watch Fashion Week runway shows from
around the world, with designers presenting new collections every season. From New York to Milan, it
is impossible to miss a controversial detail within the shows, the skeleton thin models showcasing the
designs. Not only are these models harming themselves in order to fit into the industry s expectations,
but they may also be setting a dangerous example for the public audience. Because thin girls are

Psychologist Jane Callaghan expresses that a positive body image doesn t rely solely on the
comparisons to other girls (Callaghan). Media images are only a tiny contributing factor (Callaghan)
to the development of eating disorders. Other forces include a genetic predisposition to the mental
illness, low self esteem, and societal pressure (Mayo Clinic Staff). Callaghan explains that the
development of eating disorders often relies on one s attempt to control these external forces
(Callaghans). Understanding that there are factors affecting ones body image other than media
exposure, Callaghan argues that attacking these external forces, such as peer pressure and societal
misogyny, could be more effective than eliminating thin girls from the fashion industry, seeing as how
medias perpetual portrayal of thin girls is not the main cause for the rising rate of eating

Hollywood Is Falling Essay
Hollywood is Falling
In 1946, Hollywood reached its highest attendance peak and was having one of its most successful
years. The silver screen was growing in numbers, sales, and was reaching a multitude of cinematic
achievements. They were at the top of the film industry and they believed they were indestructible.
Unbeknown to them, Hollywood was going to face some major issues that would result in their
untimely downfall.
Hollywood, after World War II, had high hopes that their business would blossom even further once
the doors opened in the foreign market trade. Hollywood was dominating the nation and they believed
their films would soon dominate the world. However, their calculations were off and they did not take
into account that foreign cinemas were in serious trouble. In other countries, the cinemas had to shut
down or many were destroyed in the war. The foreign film market was slowly rebuilding itself and
was focused on financially stabilizing its business. Then, when American movies started pouring into
their countries, the foreign cinemas had to place tariffs and restrictions on box office revenues being
sent to America. And they even had to place quotas on the amount of American films shown in foreign
theaters. This caused Hollywood to take a major hit financially. There were little to no profits earned
from the foreign market and Hollywood began to slowly decline. Overseas markets may have punched
the gut of Hollywood, but it was nothing compared to the

After having successfully launched the low cost Tata Ace truck in 2005, Tata Motors began
development of an affordable car that would appeal to the many Indians who drive motorcycles.[4]
The purchase price of this no frills auto was brought down by dispensing with most nonessential
features, reducing the amount of steel used in its construction, and relying on low cost Indian labor.
The introduction of the Nano received much media attention due to its low price.
The Tata Nano is a city car manufactured by Tata Motors. Made and sold in India, the Nano is the

Allotment Of Higher Education In The Great Gatsby
In his editorial, Eugene Fitzgerald maintains the position that an enormous amount of knowledge has
been discovered in the last 50 years, and the entire academic curriculum requires a radical revision. He
points out that the time allotment for undergraduate higher education may have been sufficient in the
past decades, but it is inadequate for the challenges of the 2000s. He suggests young men and women
cannot meet the increased challenges of the sciences, business and the humanities without a more
sophisticated preparation in college.
I agree with Fitzgerald that undergraduate courses should be updated. I feel as though the
undergraduate curriculum should be more related to the individual s field of study and that the

orchestra concert, the excitement was at its peak. I learned about the concert before so that I could
understand a bit more about what is being played and the history of that piece. Reached UCA before
time so that I could find a seat for myself and glance through the program book. When I sat down,
there were already musicians on stage who were wearing formal black clothes, some of the musicians
started working on the passages they needed to polish up before the performance, with no regard for
what anyone else is practicing. With time, the hall started to fill up and just before start, I could see
that it s a full house. I didn t know that so many people love Symphony. I could see that the number of

I saw my TA Courtney Pham on flutes. The conductor of this concert was Wes Kenny, who came on
stage with fourteen years of experience. And also featuring performance by famous Caleb Hudson on
trumpet. Beethoven s Coriolan Overture, Op. 62 was the first piece played by the orchestra. The piece
was nine minute long. Concertmaster Frangel Lopez Cesena comes out and sits in the first chair of the

Hammer Toe Research Paper
Hammer Toe
Hammer toe is a change in the shape (deformity) of your second, third, or fourth toe. The deformity
causes the middle joint of your toe to stay bent. This causes pain, especially when wearing shoes.
Hammer toe starts gradually. At first, the toe can be straightened. Gradually over time, the deformity
becomes stiff and permanent.
Early treatments to keep the toe straight may relieve pain. As the deformity becomes stiff and
permanent, surgery may be needed to straighten the toe.
CAUSES
Hammer toe is caused by abnormal bending of the toe joint closest to your foot. It happens gradually
over time. This pulls on the muscles and connections (tendons) of the toe joint, making them weak and
stiff. It is often related to wearing shoes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Have a second toe that is longer than your big toe (first toe).
Injure your foot or toe.
Have arthritis.

SYMPTOMS
The main symptoms of this condition are pain and deformity of the toe. The pain is worse when
wearing shoes, walking, or running. Other symptoms may include:
Corns or calluses over the bent part of the toe or between the toes.
Redness and a burning feeling on the toe.
An open sore that forms on the top of the toe.
Not being able to straighten the toe.
DIAGNOSIS
This condition is diagnosed based on your symptoms and a physical exam. During the exam, your
health care provider will try to straighten your toe to see how stiff the deformity is. You may also have
tests, such as:
A blood test to check for rheumatoid arthritis.
An X ray to show how severe the deformity is.
TREATMENT
Treatment for this condition will depend on how stiff the deformity is. Surgery is often needed.
However, sometimes a hammer toe can be straightened without surgery. Treatments that do not
involve surgery include:
Taping the toe into a straightened position.
Using pads and cushions to protect the toe

The Effect Of Sexual Assault On College Campuses
Introduction
College is where young women and men beginning one of the most biggest and exciting adventures.
The students typically move out and begin to experience adulthood for the first time and often the first
time one can begin to make their own decisions. This also a very stressful times for students as they
must deal with the stress of their school work, internships, living on their own, and in some cases deal
with the effects of sexual assault. Sexual assault on college campuses has been a problem for many
years; however, in the past several years, this issue has come to light. In this paper I will discuss
sexual assaults being reported and how the universities deal with the reported sexual assault, the
statistics colleges report for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The likelihood of universities doing this is small because a university does not want to single
themselves out for their problems of sexual assault, even though it is a problem for nearly all college
campuses. Colleges are also hesitant to admit there is a problem in fear of losing perspective students
and losing money from donors. College must become safe places where victims feel they are able to
report their assault and be protected while justice is served. When a student reports a sexual assault the
school must take the report seriously. Not taking the assault seriously, could lead to more sexual
assaults on campus from the same assaulter. According to Saul, of the New York Times, a study of
1,642 men at two different colleges was published in JAMA Pediatrics and found that while a larger
number of men admitted to behaviors that constituted rape, a smaller percentage of them, closer to 25
percent, were repeat offenders (Saul). In the case of one of Ms. Weckhorst s abuser, he went on to rape
another student in October of 2015. Not punishing the assaulter only leads to more sexual assaults.
Though many colleges have been outspoken about the problem of sexual assault, though their actions
typically do not support their words, they have begun to discusses ways to prevent sexual assault, such
as programs against sexual violence. According to Katherine Silbaugh her article, REACTIVE TO
PROACTIVE: TITLE IX S UNREALIZED CAPACITY TO PREVENT CAMPUS SEXUAL

violence: Safe Dates and the building level intervention of Shifting Boundaries. Both were developed
with middle/high school students but may provide useful models for the development of college
prevention strategies (1069). Programs like these are often offered at freshman

Why Huckleberry Finn Should Not Be Banned
I would like to bring up the situation on banning books. In our 8th grade Language Arts class we have
been assigned a project to read a banned or challenged book and determine whether or not the we
think that our book should be approved or banned. I chose the book The Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn and discovered almost immediately why this book was banned.
Over the years since has been published, many have been tried to ban this book but their attempts have
never succeeded . Many of this book s readers think that this book is racist and contains inappropriate
language. In fact most of the time this book has been out it has either been banned or challenged since
it was first published in 1885.

Essay about The Making of the Golden Age of Children s...
For children s literature the Golden Age was a time of reform and new beginnings. The Golden Age
opened the doors for an interesting read where adults are not present. The literature that was intended
for children during this period introduced a world of literature in which children were the protagonist.
These stories not only take children on remarkable journeys though time but they also address many
issues of social class in regards to children. The Golden Age reflects greatly the Victorian era where
children were left to become orphans because their parents could not support them financially or
because their parents just did not want them. The Golden age welcomed children into a society that

These stories often times take children out of the real world and take them to a world that is full of
magic and freedom. These stories were meant to help put a stop to excessive child labor. The Golden
age wanted to give children freedom to explore what was once forbidden. These books make the
impossible now possible for its child reader. These books bring to life all the words and pictures and
allow children to expand their minds.
The Golden Age was a period where the middle class was on the rise. Before this period the middle
class was not able to buy any literature because they were made to be very expensive so that only the
upper class could afford the literature Until the Golden Age children of the middle and lower class
were not seen as worth of getting any form of education even if they tried to educate themselves by
reading a book. However, once the introduction of the Golden Age the upper class was no longer the
only people who had access to children literature. The advancement of technology and different media
forms helped allow for the development of cheaper books to be produced so that everyone could
possibly afford them and all children would have the opportunity to read literature that was uplifting.
One of the most common structures of children literature is when a child is displayed to go through
several different life stages. After the child becomes and orphan and is exposed to different elements

It s Time to Privatize Colombian’s Prisons
The involvement of the private sector in the penal system, prima facie, could be seen as a rapid and
low cost, high benefit solution to the most serious penal system problems such as lack of prisons
spaces, poor condition within the prisons, and the state responsibilities of running prisons services
adequately, by the figure of prison privatization. (Cavadino, M. and Dignan, J. 2007)
The figure of contracting out has been well described by Cavadino and Dignan in their analysis of the

Rousseau s The Social Contract
The following texts, Rousseau s The Social Contract, Marx s Private Property and Communism,
Estranged Labor and Money, all differentiate between a general will, and a more personal, individual
will. However, Rousseau s and Marx s theories of a general will, or collective being have
discrepancies in both the origin and implications of general will and individual will. Rousseau defines
general will as a collective desire to advance society towards a common goal. However, Rousseau
warns that ignoring the general will and pursuing one s own selfish personal will is dangerous not only
for an individual, but can also ultimately lead to the destruction of the body politic. Marx also
discusses a concept similar to Rousseau s general will, however ... Show more content on

Additionally, Rousseau believes that self interests are often detrimental to the common good, stating
that each individual, as a man, may have a particular will contrary or dissimilar to the general will
which he has as a citizen. His particular interest may speak to him quite differently from the common
interest: his absolute and naturally independent existence may make him look upon what he owes to
the common cause as a gratuitous contribution... The continuance of such an injustice could not but
prove the undoing of the body politic. (Rousseau, 194 195). It is evident that Rousseau is aware of
humankind s selfish desires stemming from a personal will, and he believes that if individuals begin to
ignore the common will and instead act upon their personal desires and will, that it will often lead to
pandemonium. This chaos is likely to destroy any Republic, as conflicting and selfish ideals will cause
individuals to lose sight of the general will, leading to the collapse of a coexisting society. Rousseau,
however, does not address how individual will originates, a point that Marx discusses in length in his
Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts.
The epitome of the detrimental effects caused by one acting purely on personal will can be seen in the
film, American Beauty. In this film, Lester Burnham can be seen acting upon his personal will and
ignoring the collective good in his

Robert Bolt s A Man For All Seasons Essay
Robert Bolt s A Man For All Seasons
In the play, written by Robert Bolt, A man for all seasons the
Common Man is a very important character and also a very important part of the play, not in the plot
but in the way the play has been presented, he is both a narrator and a role player who makes the play
more interesting and separates it from reality. The Common Man also introduces some of the ideas
from Bertolt Brecht s work. The idea of the Common Man is a rare and rather unusual one. Robert
Bolt used him intentionally to be like no other character in his play.

characters with him.
We see that the Common Man has an intention to stay well out of trouble, to save his own skin. Again,
he communicates this within his roles. An example is the Jailer, who refuses to let More s family stay
any longer. Although we can see he wants to, he sticks to his orders to prevent any trouble for himself.
The Common Man tries to save himself again as the Foreman of the jury, who can see it s obvious

The importance of The Common Man is the way he is able to be both inside and outside of the play,
he can also bridge a gap between the play and the audience and we see him as an informer. When the
audience needed to know of Wolsey s death, the Common Man throws the Cardinal s red robe and hat
to the floor, indicating his death. Robert Bolt created him as a use of alienation, the way in which the

The Effects Of War On The Economy
The impact on the economy is strongly overlooked when people mention the consequences of war.
Most people believe the consequences of war are simply just a destruction of land and a large number
of casualties. However, going to war has a devastating economic impact in any country for a countless
number of reasons. No matter how wealthy a country may be, going to war can still strongly affect the
economy without a doubt. Many of the reasons on why this is true is mainly because of the
macroeconomic cost for manufacturing weapons, financing veteran care, and even borrowing money
from other countries that turns into financial debt. As a result, the economy faces many consequences
such as declining economic growth, decreasing wealth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated earlier, Europe had suffered one of the most devastating impacts during and after WWII. In
fact, Europe had suffered more economically after World War II for multiple reasons. Capital
depletion was seen everywhere after the war, with cities torn apart and there were bomb craters on
every street. Great Britain, inflation had increased rapidly and reached its peak following the war
along with France. The currency started to become worthless because of how crumbled the economy
had become. Even during the war, massive amounts of money were loaned from the United States to
the allies in Europe just to keep the war funded. As a result, many countries in Europe ended up in an
enormous amount of debt to America. This left millions of people having to live extremely hard and
rough in Europe. Luckily, with the help of the United States, Europe was able to become stable again
through the use of the Marshall Plan. The Marshall Plan was created by George Marshall who was the
United States Secretary of the State and the idea was to help and support any European countries that
had fell victim to the war such as France for example. So, these countries would then receive currency
from the United States, which helped Europe extremely well and would have most likely fallen
economically if the U.S. did not aid them through the use of the Marshall Plan.
In post WWII Europe, one of the major factors that affected the economy by the war was the

Interests and skills: Based on my observation, Children seem to demonstrate the interest in make soap, they want to have more soaps and they would like to make bubbles. I will planning children to make their own soap. Firstly I will invite the children to melt the soap by heating in a saucepan on the stove over medium heat. Once the soap becomes a liquid, have the children remove it from the heat and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes. When the soap is in a liquid state, Children can add 1 teaspoon of peppermint, lavender essential oil or cinnamon for a wonderful scent, or 1 tablespoon of ground oatmeal for a bit of texture or add milk to make the soap smoother. Pour the soap into molds and cover the mold with a towel overnight. Put the mold in the freezer for a few hours the next day, then remove the soap from the mold. How will you ... • 3. Analysis And Belief Of The Crocodile Analysis and Belief The crocodile has a significant role in Papua New Guinea culture. The people over there believe that reptiles are human s ancestors. The reason they are cutting their skin and pretending to be a crocodile is because they also believe by withstanding the pain, they will be strong enough to face the difficulties and problems in the future. Also the skin cutting act is for separating young men from the world of womenfolk, and to fill them with the power of crocodile. Another reason that they want to cut their skin is because without the skin cutting rituals, they (young men) are not a full member of their father s clan. It is an interesting culture which very different to modern society s because we were born to be our family s clan, we don t have to do anything to prove because we have already had our birth certificate. Since it is too easy to be one of our family s clan, there s a certain amount of the people doesn t appreciate of their identity and always against their family unlike the people in Chambri Tribe. They value it, they have to withstand the skin cutting pain and the chances of death especially they are still in a third world country. They cherish their identity and their family members. Rituals The skin cutting rituals takes place every four to five years. Boys as early as 12 until 35 can have the cutting rituals to prove themselves. I m talking about the double standards with statutory rape, for example, a 17 year old boy was sentenced 10 years in prison for having consensual oral sex with a 15 year old. I m wondering so is the 15 year old girl going to jail too? So let s start from the beginning statutory rape refers to having sexual relations under the age of consent which is different in states but typically is between the ages of 16 18 here in the US. • 5. Benefits Of Using Pvc Used For An Enterprise Of Pvc Furniture CHAPTER 5 RESULT DISCUSSION 5.1 RESULT DISCUSSION It can be easily understood by this paper that there are enormous benefits of using PVC in various applications. Setting up an enterprise of PVC furniture can give us high returns at low input cost. Initial set up cost of PVC furniture enterprise is also less as compared to other enterprises of same level. This project requires less area because of its simple fabrication process and less machines required with reduced inventory. Dedicating ourselves towards protecting environment it can save thousands/lakhs of trees which would otherwise be used in making furniture. Also precious earth metals can be saved for more purposeful use by using PVC in many applications. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe are leading the way in replacing the various other materials that have been previously used in pipe construction; they have only been scarcely used in the past, however over the past 30 years they have proven themselves to be more than worthy replacements for the conventional materials such as steel and iron. PVC has a myriad of advantages over traditionally used materials. For starters, PVC and PE pipe are very durable materials; they are just as strong as iron, which is crucial due to pipes exposure to both internal and external pressures. However, arguably two of their most important attributes are that they neither corrode, nor do they have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Listening To Sounds Analysis Upon finishing listening to what was my first podcast ever, it did not necessarily change my thoughts about noise of modern life. This is because I am and have always been an appreciator of the simple things in life. For example, I am the type of person who will sit in an airport and just think about the fact that in this one place where there are a multiple number of people, each of them has their own life. Each of these lives are being carried out all at the same time, and each of those lives are filled with different experiences, different losses, different gains, they have each had a vulnerable moment and a moment where they were filled with love and more importantly each of them has their own story. Each of these people have their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The best thing about the noise in our society is that although there is a negative effect in situations of the ability to listen to personal music, there is also a positive side which encompasses the same thing. The reason that most of us listen to our own music is not only possibly a sub conscious effort to seclude ourselves from other around us, but also because we want to please ourselves by listening to sounds or music we like. Therefore, one example of how noise in our society promotes communication would be when a group of strangers are somewhere and here the new Taylor Swift song that they all love, they catch themselves singing and dancing to it, simultaneously noticing the others doing the same which breaks that barrier of being strangers by making them realize they have something in common. This later leads to them speaking to each other and possibly beginning a relationship. Similarly, from a more fundamental perspective sounds as simple as someone chopping wood outside, singing in the shower in the morning, or the sound of a jump rope hitting the pavement as little kids play, all play in the role of promoting communication; all you have to do is listen for ... • 7. Essay about A Diagnosis of Cancer is Life Changing Experience A diagnosis of cancer is life changing and affects the whole family. It has been documented in some studies that family members experience equal if not higher levels of anxiety or depression than the cancer patient themselves (Hacialioglu et al, 2010). Hasson et al (2010) found that spouses of patients who had been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer reported more psychological distress than patients and were above the clinical cutoff. These results are comparable with a study carried out by Hodges and Humphris (2009) in which caregivers of patients who had been diagnosed with cancer had higher psychological distress and fear of recurrence than the patient. These results could potentially be associated with caregivers emotional strain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Longer term survivors and caregivers were found to be more distress and anxious ( 3 years). Other studies confirmed this findings and reported partners had significantly higher levels of burden one year after treatment. This could be associated with caregivers expectation that the patient would quickly revert back to the role of partner (Schmid Buchi et al, 2011; Moreira et al, 2013). Providing care for more than twenty hours a week was significantly associated with depression among caregivers. Greater impact on caregivers schedule also predicted to increase guilt (Jaafar et al, 2014; Spillers et al, 2008). However, Tang et al (2013) found providing end of life care for a relative, guilt was derived from lacking time to provide care. Therefore caregivers who spent 17 24 hours a day may have felt less deprived than those who provided 8 hours as the patient death approached. Carers distress increases as patients cancer progresses to more advanced and terminal stages, where the patient experiences more physical symptoms like pain. Given et al (2004) found a linear relationship existed between higher numbers of patients symptoms (pain, nausea, distress, deterioration) and caregivers level of depressive symptoms. Caregivers of patients receiving palliative care have high prevalence of psychological distress during bereavement. Six ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Reason That Chip Wilson Plunged Lululemon Into Crisis Analysis The reason that Chip Wilson plunged Lululemon into crisis again is because of three major issues: lack of media training as a spokesperson, lack of comprehensive crisis management plan in the company, and failure of internal communication. First of all, spokesperson media training is part of crisis preparation. In this case, lacking media training includes training for a TV interview and training for filming a video apology. Prior to Chip Wilson s interview with Bloomberg TV, managers from the PR department should have conducted a comprehensive media training to Wilson. Topics cover from diagnosing company s vulnerabilities, to preparing for difficult questions, to how to utilize chances to re enhance the company s image, and how to risk averse after a major crisis. As Wilson s answer caused another crisis, I assume that he was not ready to answer the questions of sheer pants recall, nor he was ever participated in any media training at all. Erik Bernstein who runs a crisis management blog noted that some people should never act as spokesperson. In fact, what surprised me was that as a company s founder and chairman of board, it was Chip Wilson s responsibility to have a general knowledge about the crisis and what caused the crisis and what procedures they have taken to solve the crisis. Even though he was never prepared for those questions beforehand, answers such as women s bodies don t fit its pants should have never came up. This crisis could have been ... The word Slam was used for this performance poetry because as Marc explained it in an interview with Olivier Vanderra at BlaQ Socrates and Sapient Soul Furman University, In America, Slam means either something very, very good or something very, very bad. When it comes to the issue of education, many people from educators to students to parents to administrators to politicians have different ideas as to what makes for the best education. According to Samantha Moore, in her evaluation essay titled There s no place like home, she argues that homeschooling provides a better educational experience for students over the public school system. Specifically she states that evaluating homeschooling through aesthetic, moral, and practical criteria favors homeschooling over public school (Moore, 2017, p. 2). In other words, she expresses that homeschooling is better morally, is cheaper and more convenient, and is safer. While I agree that for some students faced with certain situations, homeschooling is the better option, I disagree with Moore s overall claim that homeschooling is the best option for students over public education. By examining the examples from her evaluation essay in a different way, it will become clear that the American public school system is actually the best option when it comes to students education. Although Moore makes a point that homeschooled students are often involved in various activities outside of their home, allowing them the social skills that the majority of people believe they lack, her argument is flawed in the sense that those activities allowing ... The Theory And Practice Of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism The Theory and Practice of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism First published in 1949, Orwell certainly believed that the novel would have some higher purpose in the political sphere, and it did. But perhaps it wasn t the purpose that was truly intended? Nearly seventy years after its first appearance, 1984 can be found on many high school, college and political group reading lists. Coining terms such as Big Brother, or thoughtcrime, the novel created an entirely new type of dystopian society defined by many as Orwellian. But with close reading one can see that George Orwell wrote 1984 for a very specific purpose. In 1984 Orwell writes about the dangers of deviating from a true socialist society. In order to completely understand 1984, one must first understand the history surrounding the novel. Written from 1947 to December 1948, 1984 first hit shelves in June of 1949. The Second World War, which ravaged England, Europe, and much of the world, ended a mere four years prior. Along with the rest of Europe, London was still rebuilding from the constant bombings, and still mourning the incredible loss of life. But there was a growing threat that could not be ignored. The Soviet Union, in an effort to prevent future attacks, occupied much of Eastern Europe (known as the Eastern Bloc), including Eastern Germany, and the eastern portion of Berlin. One of my favorite Jewish traditions happens during Passover. The tradition consists of my dad hiding the afikomen, which is a half piece of matzo, the unleavened bread typically eaten during Passover. The United States legal system exists with many favorable conditions for filing malpractice lawsuits, including low burden of proof requirements, lax limits on damage awards, and the lack of a cost sharing provision on filing a legal action. Impact of Defensive Medicine The same World Health Organization presentation details the cost of medical litigation rising from $3 billion per year to $24 billion per year between 1975 and 2002 (Dietrich, 2005, pg. 27). The amounts awarded in medical lawsuits have an impact on healthcare delivery in the form of increased insurance costs to the consumer and doctor, or a reduction in services to help cover the cost of litigation. A survey conducted by the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) asked 900 physicians if they had practiced defensive medicine procedures. Eighty three percent of the doctors reported that they had ordered defensive procedures an average of 18 to 28 percent of the time. They also indicated they had ordered hospitalizations about 13 percent of the time to avoid potential lawsuits. The MMS estimates that the excess procedures cost the state at least $1.4 billion a year, and the group believes that amount is an underestimate due to only 46 percent of doctors in the state participating in the survey (Gulla, 2008). Allotment Of Higher Education In The Great Gatsby In his editorial, Eugene Fitzgerald maintains the position that an enormous amount of knowledge has been discovered in the last 50 years, and the entire academic curriculum requires a radical revision. He points out that the time allotment for undergraduate higher education may have been sufficient in the past decades, but it is inadequate for the challenges of the 2000s. He suggests young men and women cannot meet the increased challenges of the sciences, business and the humanities without a more sophisticated preparation in college. I agree with Fitzgerald that undergraduate courses should be updated. • 30. I Attended The University Symphony Orchestra Concert I attended the University Symphony Orchestra Concert on Sep 30. Being my first ever symphony orchestra concert, the excitement was at its peak. I learned about the concert before so that I could understand a bit more about what is being played and the history of that piece. Reached UCA before time so that I could find a seat for myself and glance through the program book. When I sat down, there were already musicians on stage who were wearing formal black clothes, some of the musicians started working on the passages they needed to polish up before the performance, with no regard for what anyone else is practicing. With time, the hall started to fill up and just before start, I could see that it s a full house. I didn t know that so many people love Symphony. I could see that the number of string instrument were far more then brass or woodwind instrument. As I was observing the musicians I saw my TA Courtney Pham on flutes. The conductor of this concert was Wes Kenny, who came on stage with fourteen years of experience. And also featuring performance by famous Caleb Hudson on trumpet. Beethoven s Coriolan Overture, Op. 62 was the first piece played by the orchestra. The piece was nine minute long. Concertmaster Frangel Lopez Cesena comes out and sits in the first chair of the first violins. This music is all about a roman patrician Coriolan who has been banished from his native city due to betrayal. He then returns with an army for revenge but stops when he sees his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The likelihood of universities doing this is small because a university does not want to single themselves out for their problems of sexual assault, even though it is a problem for nearly all college campuses. Colleges are also hesitant to admit there is a problem in fear of losing perspective students and losing money from donors. College must become safe places where victims feel they are able to report their assault and be protected while justice is served. When a student reports a sexual assault the school must take the report seriously. Not taking the assault seriously, could lead to more sexual assaults on campus from the same assaulter. According to Saul, of the New York Times, a study of 1,642 men at two different colleges was published in JAMA Pediatrics and found that while a larger number of men admitted to behaviors that constituted rape, a smaller percentage of them, closer to 25 percent, were repeat offenders (Saul). In the case of one of Ms. Weckhorst s abuser, he went on to rape another student in October of 2015. Not punishing the assaulter only leads to more sexual assaults. Though many colleges have been outspoken about the problem of sexual assault, though their actions typically do not support their words, they have begun to discusses ways to prevent sexual assault, such as programs against sexual violence. The Golden Age opened the doors for an interesting read where adults are not present. The literature that was intended for children during this period introduced a world of literature in which children were the protagonist. These stories not only take children on remarkable journeys though time but they also address many issues of social class in regards to children. • 37. Rousseau s The Social Contract The following texts, Rousseau s The Social Contract, Marx s Private Property and Communism, Estranged Labor and Money, all differentiate between a general will, and a more personal, individual will. However, Rousseau s and Marx s theories of a general will, or collective being have discrepancies in both the origin and implications of general will and individual will. Rousseau defines general will as a collective desire to advance society towards a common goal. However, Rousseau warns that ignoring the general will and pursuing one s own selfish personal will is dangerous not only for an individual, but can also ultimately lead to the destruction of the body politic. Marx also discusses a concept similar to Rousseau s general will, however ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, Rousseau believes that self interests are often detrimental to the common good, stating that each individual, as a man, may have a particular will contrary or dissimilar to the general will which he has as a citizen. His particular interest may speak to him quite differently from the common interest: his absolute and naturally independent existence may make him look upon what he owes to the common cause as a gratuitous contribution... The continuance of such an injustice could not but prove the undoing of the body politic. (Rousseau, 194 195). It is evident that Rousseau is aware of humankind s selfish desires stemming from a personal will, and he believes that if individuals begin to ignore the common will and instead act upon their personal desires and will, that it will often lead to pandemonium. This chaos is likely to destroy any Republic, as conflicting and selfish ideals will cause individuals to lose sight of the general will, leading to the collapse of a coexisting society. Rousseau, however, does not address how individual will originates, a point that Marx discusses in length in his Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts. The epitome of the detrimental effects caused by one acting purely on personal will can be seen in the film, American Beauty. In this film, Lester Burnham can be seen acting upon his personal will and ignoring the collective good in his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No matter how wealthy a country may be, going to war can still strongly affect the economy without a doubt. As stated earlier, Europe had suffered one of the most devastating impacts during and after WWII. In fact, Europe had suffered more economically after World War II for multiple reasons. Capital depletion was seen everywhere after the war, with cities torn apart and there were bomb craters on every street. Great Britain, inflation had increased rapidly and reached its peak following the war along with France. The currency started to become worthless because of how crumbled the economy had become. Even during the war, massive amounts of money were loaned from the United States to the allies in Europe just to keep the war funded. As a result, many countries in Europe ended up in an enormous amount of debt to America. This left millions of people having to live extremely hard and rough in Europe. Luckily, with the help of the United States, Europe was able to become stable again through the use of the Marshall Plan. The Marshall Plan was created by George Marshall who was the United States Secretary of the State and the idea was to help and support any European countries that had fell victim to the war such as France for example. So, these countries would then receive currency from the United States, which helped Europe extremely well and would have most likely fallen economically if the U.S. did not aid them through the use of the Marshall Plan.
