Tale of Two Airlines Essay
Case Analysis Tale of Two Airlines in the Network Age
By AKK
This case analyses Prof. McPherson s service experience with respect to two Airline carriers, which
was not expected in this age of Network and Information Technology and also the service level
expectations from the customers. First we analyze the setting/situation, issues Prof. McPherson
experienced and his assumptions; and then try to address them. The bottom line: addressing such
situations would improve efficiency, customer loyalty, brand name and increased profits
Situation:
* Atlanta s Hartsfield Airport is ranked as one of the busiest international airports. * 3 6PM is one of
the busiest times of the day in terms of airline traffic and the number of people ... Show more content

The technology to communicate between the airlines is available and the customers do expect that the
airlines share their passenger information for connecting flights.
Flight to London left 7 minutes before departure time:
Given the time and weather, the airline crew would have been under lot of stress and might be very
eager to move on to their next task and also we need to consider operational expenses of a foreign
airline. There are multiple issues here: 1. No communication between the two airlines regarding the
flight delays and the connecting passengers (already discussed above). 2. The London based Airline
could have verified their passenger list and should have identified Prof. McPherson as a Gold card
member and a loyal customer and should have taken any one of these actions based on the situation: *
Should have waited until the departure time. * Should have an agent at the gate until departure time
and should have helped Prof. McPherson with alternative arrangements, if he was late.
London based airlines should be able to access their central database from any place in the world and
should have been able to identify their patrons.

Emotional Labor As A Workplace
While labor can and is often seen as work that is done physically, it is also seen as an act which
necessitates using mind and soul. Depending on the area in which an individual works, it can lean
towards using all three body, mind, and soul to be successful. It is at this point that Emotional Labor
(Hochschild, 1983) begins to take its place in the work environment. Emotional Labor is using self to
perform work where an employee creates a pleasant atmosphere by giving good customer service. The
ability to use self as a means to perform better on the job may have larger implications than we know
of. This paper will look at different ideas which contribute to Emotional Labor as a workplace
construct and the effects it has on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Jason Felix, a Human Resources Technician with College of the Desert describes his
thought after having dealt with a rude applicant over the phone, while physical labor is no walk in the
park, dealing with people can leave you just as drained, if not more, and it can take longer to regain
your emotional stability (J. Felix, personal communication, January 30, 2017). After having been cut
off, yelled at, and harangued, Jason had to still go about his day as if nothing happened. The use of
good customer service in the face of disrespect is reminiscent Karl Marx writes, the realization of
labor appears as a loss of reality for the worker . It is not the real person who is being polite but the
person created for the work environment that is required to be polite. With this in mind, having to
create an atmosphere of happiness when one isn t feeling happy could result in the depersonalization
of happiness with the self (Herpertz et al, 2016). The problem then turns into the employee not
knowing whether they are actually happy or is only so used to being happy. How does the employee
then adjust to the real world outside of the workplace? In A Managed Heart by Arlie Russell
Hochschild, she speaks with airline attendants who must always create a positive space for passengers,
their smiles being of most value to the company. One flight attendant interviewed is quoted saying,

Why Did Gondwana Occur In Australia
As it is the oldest of the continents, Australia is often referred to as an ancient land. However, it didn t
always have its current shape, as it was once a part of a super continent called Pangaea. This was until
it separated and drifted across the Earth s surface, causing a variety of climate changes and other
geological events.
Around 300 million years ago, Pangea existed during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras and
approximately 120 million years ago, Pangea split into two smaller sections called Gondwana and
Laurasia. Gondwana formed prior to Pangea , and later on became part of it. However, after the break
up of Pangaea, Gondwana possessed most of the regions in today s Southern Hemisphere, including
Australia, Africa, Antarctica and South America. Similarly, around 180 million years ago, Gondwana
also began to split up. Africa and South America beginning to drift away, leaving just India,
Madagascar, Antarctica and Australia and about 40 million years later, India and Madagascar broke
off. Leaving just Antarctica and Australia. Correspondingly, approximately 85 million years ago
Australia separated from Antarctica, finally becoming its own continent. ... Show more content on

School Psychologist Mission Statement
I believe my mission statement will change as I continue to grow and gain more knowledge about my
new career as I continue through my classes and internship, here is where I begin in March 2017. We
are all working towards what s best for the child, while each person (parent, teacher, school
psychologist, administrator) has their specific role, our collaborative goal is always the same. I want to
remember the negative experiences I had as a parent navigating the assessment and initial IEP process
and do what I can to keep another family from having a similar experience. I also want to remember
all of the positive interactions I ve had with people who have worked together to help a student learn
to the best of their abilities. I want developmentally appropriate assessment experiences in hopes of
getting the best snapshot of the child. My ideal role as a school psychologist would include
assessments, a diagnostic classroom, social skills groups, behavior support, school staff support and
parent training. Hopefully each year I am working I can build in all those different elements and
eventually have my ideal job. For 10 years I have been teaching a special day preschool class. The

I enjoy teaching but it s time for a career change. As a school psychologist I see a way to continue to
support students with learning difficulties or challenging behaviors just in a different way. Ideally, I
would be able to complete assessments, hold parent trainings for parents of preschoolers that are just
beginning their journey in special education in a school district, run social groups and provide teacher
trainings or support in their classrooms when needed. I also see the opportunity to work with
preschools on behalf of our students who may be attending community

Direct Democracy And Representative Democracy In The...
Direct Democracy is one type of politic, and also direct democracies have good part for USA. People
may like the people who like help the citizen. Direct democracy means is a form of democracy in
which people decide policy initiatives directly, and direct democracy places all power in the hands of
the individual. In this time, we know about representative democracy is dominant in USA right now.
The representative democracy means, is a type of democracy founded on the principle of elected
officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct democracy Nearly all modern western
style democracies are types of representative democracies ,So I think would use in United States.
The first reason is one people to do the decision is not good for citizen. The second reason is direct
democracy are more legitimacy; this is because more people can consider or care about the law. The
third reason is technology can let government not corruption, which means people will make better
life and decision than before. First, the advantage of the direct democracy is that most people can
make do the own vote. Currently when country have problem, congress will make the decision,
because there are the representatives in the country. This means representatives chooses what they

How Iphone Is The Size Of Its Screen
Over the course of three years, the most meaningful change to the iPhone has been the size of its
screen. A phone with a bigger screen was all the consumer really wanted and if Apple wasn t willing
to provide them with that then Samsung would. After years of sticking with a 3.5 inch display and
watching Android competitors slowly increase their screen size while also increasing their sales,
Apple finally gave in to the obvious trend with the larger 4.7 inch iPhone 6 and huge 5.5 inch iPhone
6 Plus. However, as predicted, once Apple released their bigger screened iPhone 6 and 6 Plus,
Samsung s sales began to decrease. Now that Apple has an iPhone with a big screen and skyrocketing
sales there appears to be no obvious reason to make it better, but just like every year as technology
changes and improves there is always a demand on Apple to release their new upgraded phone, this
year s version being the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Apple s tagline for the iPhone 6S is the only thing that
s changed is everything , stating that the brand knows the phone bears a striking resemblance to its
2014 model despite the loads of changes made under the cover (Beavis 1). The reason behind the
similar appearance is due to it being an S year for the iPhone, which means the basic physical design
of the phone, has stayed the same while there has been a substantial revision to the internals making
them faster. S iPhones may lack the pizzazz of a completely new design, but the iPhone 6S with its

Caaffe Muller Dance Analysis
Caffe Muller is a dance that was choreographed by Pina Bausch. Cafe Muller, holds a story behinds. It
s a dark caffe that can be better described as a mental hospital. Two Ladies, who seem to be unhealthy
and lost take over. It seems to interpret the issues between a relationship, and emotional distress that
happened after an affair, during the holocaust. The experience seems of distraught that, was later seen
by others. The dance Caffe Muller is an expressive dance with a love affair, during the times of the
Holocaust were people were seperated. This dance was done with eyes closed, to show emotions, Pina
wanted her dancer to dance with the emotions felt at a specific moment in their life. When you start to
watch the choreography, you can see the pain and the struggle. It was almost as a disbelief. At 4:58,
you see both dancer in white gowns, with their back against the wall, they lean inwards and outwards,

Land Reform In The 1940 s And 1950s
In this paper I will discuss land reforms in the 1940 s and 1950 s and how they are affecting society
still today. According to Dictionary.com land reform is a governmental program that takes land from
farmers and redistributes it among the landless
Land reforms are the changing of laws and regulations that make it possible for lands to be
redistributed. This usually results in the transfer of land from a person or corporation that holds a lot
of it into the hands of a person who has no land. This is mostly done to agricultural land as a part of a
governmental property redistribution program . The transfer of landownership may be completed
without an exchange of compensation. When compensation is given the amounts vary depending on
the land. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other reasons that people support land reform is because it helps to regulate conflicting land laws, in
cases where formal and informal land laws may conflict with each other. This is beneficial to a
countries legal system as many times lawsuits about land end up in the legal system. Once the issue is
in the legal system it may take an extremely long time to address. For most people being secure in
landownership would help them utilize it better. This would in many cases result in result in the

Review Of Ordeal Of The Longhouse By Daniel Richter
Daniel Richter, an American historian, completed his literary work, Ordeal of the Longhouse in 1992.
His purpose of writing this book was to illustrate the Native Americans side of the colonization of
America and their interactions with the new colonizers, while emphasizing the ordeals that they faced
at that time. Those ordeals included: disease, economic dependency, imperial struggles, and issues
with their neighbors (2). Richter was out to prove that despite and because of these struggles, Iroquois
culture, politics, and diplomacy evolved in the 17th and 18th century through their interactions with
different groups of European peoples. These interactions have shaped Native American traditions as
well as American diplomacy as we know it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He discusses one instance where the English joined in an alliance with the Iroquois in order to further
an anti French sentiment, which would then aid the English in maintaining control of the land and
trade. I do not believe that the advantages that the Iroquois gained from these cultivated ties, if any,
were clearly presented in the book. Furthermore, not only does it seem like the Indians were not in
control of their own destiny and actions at times, but also that they were naive to look positively on
the diplomatic gifts from the Europeans. For example, in 1673, the Dutch military gave the Mohawks
a diplomatic present in hopes that the Mohawks would tell the commander of the state to put a stop to
all correspondence with the Jesuit and Frenchmen from Canada (135). In the midst of the different
European nations struggles with one another, it is difficult to see where the Iroquois really come into
play and make a case for their own identity until the 18th

The Sapir Whorf Hypothesis And Arguments For And Against It
For all humans, language is the most common means of communication with others and it enables us
to share our experiences and stories and to tell about our needs and feelings. For example, Yamamoto
states that sociolinguistics see, it is primarily through the use of language that people communicate
with each other (1979: 146). We all speak one or more languages and as the main way of
communication it is an important and vital part of our lives. There is many languages in the world and
they differ from one another in many ways. But does the language we speak reflect to the way we see
and experience the world around us? This paper will explore the question through the Sapir Whorf
hypothesis and arguments for and against it.
The Sapir Whorf hypothesis mentioned above is based on the ideas of Edward Sapir and Benjamin
Whorf who studied aboriginal languages among Native American tribes, mostly the Hopi. They
believed that the language one speaks is directly related to the way they understand the reality and see
the world. For example, Whorf once wrote we dissect nature along lines laid down by our native
languages (Whorf cited in Salzmann 1993: 153) which led to Zdenek Salzmann s conclusion of Whorf
s ideas: Difference among languages must therefore be reflected in the differences in the worldviews
of their speakers (1993: 156). This hypothesis has been challenged many times by several
anthropologists and linguists and there are arguments and evidence for and against it.

A Worn Path Essay
A Worn Path
A Worn Path is, in my opinion, a very good story. It tells of an old black woman and the struggles she
s had to deal with throughout her life. The author names the woman Phoenix after a mythological bird
that died and then came back to life through its ashes which makes it immortal. The author makes the
woman immortal because she continues to have something to live for, her grandson, whom she
apparently considers her biggest gift.
The author never says exactly how often the woman makes the journey, but we know she s made it
before because the attendants knew who she was when she came in the building. It is a very long trip
because the hunter even said that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is very determined and stubborn during her walk.
The journey she takes in this story represents her role in life. She is an old black lady living in a white
society with no education. Many things make this journey very tough: it is very cold, the path is
uphill, and the woman is very old. The trip she makes shows just how determined the woman is to
make it through life. Whether or not her grandson was dead or alive, to me, does not have much effect
on the story. Either way, the woman making the trip for him shows her devotion to him and how much
she loves him dead or alive.
At times in the story, the woman seems very confused. When she mistakes the scarecrow for a ghost,
when she thought the thorn bush was a green bush, and not knowing whether or not her grandson is
alive indicate confusion. The dialogue between Phoenix and the nurse certainly indicates confusion or
forgetfulness. At first she doesn t respond to the attendant. However, once she realizes why she is
where she is, her love and devotion to her grandson is obvious.
Both the hunter and the attendant call the woman granny and this shows how the woman was treated
her whole life, like an old grandma who has no business in town. These moments represent how
insignificant she is in society. Throughout her life, Phoenix probably had to steal just to get by. A good
example of this is when she takes the nickel from the

The biggest challenge faced by a foreign company is that the local manufacturers will copy their
product in a matter of weeks and mass produce and distribute it throughout the country at a very cost
effective rate. Another problem can be the strict rule of Chinese food and drug authority s strict rule
regarding the registration of devices. Recommendation: The best market for GENICON to enter is the
Brazil market as the competition is relatively low on both the locally produced products and imports.
The best course of action would be to enter into a joint venture with a local Brazilian firm (as there
can some sort of traditional/cultural misunderstanding). This will allow GENICON to overcome the
cultural aspects of doing business in Brazil such as leveraging in local distribution network and
avoiding the crime factor. Through joint venture the GENICON will be able to save the tax which the
Brazilian government might have imposed. Brazil s medical market valued at $3.0 billion in 2008 and
was the largest market in Latin America. A compound annual growth rate of 13.8 % is anticipated

Background In 1866 Wilham Ebstein first described the cardiac defects associated with Ebsteins s
Anomaly. Ebstein was a doctor born in Prussia in 1836 who received his medical degree from Berlin
in 1859. A 19 year old patient who presented with shortness of breath and palpitations was not able to
withstand his insufficient tricuspid valve. Wilham s autopsy of the young man indicated an enlarged
and fenestrated anterior tricuspid leaflet; the posterior and septal leaflets were hypoplastic, thickened
and adherent to the right ventricle, an enlarged right atrium, and a patent foramen ovale (Swiss
Medical Weekly, 2005). Although Ebstein portrayed the first case it was not until 1927 that Alfred
Arnstein suggested the name Ebstein s Anomaly for these defects. Ten years later in 1937 Yates and
Sharpiro confirmed a case of Ebstein s Anomaly with radiographic and electrocardiographic data
(Riaz, 2013). In the past this anomaly was typically diagnosed during an autopsy, now
echocardiography is the standard for diagnosis. Once patients could be diagnosed with Ebstein s while
they were still alive, a group of symptoms was eventually composed.

Characteristics Of Steve Jobs
There are numerous flaws in the concept that a person s culture, family, generation, and upbringing are
more accurate determinants of success when compared to that persons traits such as personality,
ambition, and intelligence. While circumstances being conducive to their needs helps, anyone with
enough determination can rise above obstacles and become an outlier. Arguments against this, often
have faults. There are many clear examples of driven, brilliant people, of all backgrounds, reaching
great heights. One published believer of successful people being a result of their constraints and
opportunities alone, is Malcolm Gladwell. In his book Outliers he highlights several aspects of the
histories of well known identities. He argues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, it is true that some facts don t change with time. However, he was citing a psychology based
experiment and this field has transformed quite a lot in ninety years. At this point, most could observe
that this author has a habit of referencing anecdotal evidence as opposed to relevant and proven
research. In a New York Times review of Outliers it is stated that Gladwell s hypotheses, pivot
deceptively around various anecdotes and studies that are selective in the extreme... (Kakutani). Even
so, these stories do show an undeniable relationship between a person s achievements, and their
unique qualities. This connection is also distinguishable in much less specific examples. In addition to
the aforementioned cases, evidence of success depending on personality, ambition, and intelligence, as
opposed to circumstance, is seen many places. Firstly, if family and culture were playing such a
definitive role in the lives of the highly acheived, then all siblings of someone at the top of the ladder
should also excel. Obviously this is not always the case. On a similar note, if financial status was the
main contributor to excellent standing, then all the tales of people giving up on what may seem to be
the more profitable route, and instead taking the road less traveled out of passion, would end in
failure. Yet, they do not. It is unreasonable to think that there is some perfect set of conditions, where,

The Sally Kristen Ride
Sally Kristen Ride broke barriers. Independent and outgoing are two words that described her from
day one. When opportunities came to her she took them and always tried her hardest. These
characteristics of hers really defined her as a person. The science and women s rights world have both
been affected by her. She showed them both that a woman can do just as much as a man. Today, her
works are honored by both worlds. On May 26, 1951 Sally was born to the great state of California.
Joyce Ride and Dale B. Ride were the two extraordinary people she was born to. Two years later she
became a big sister. Karen Ride was Sally s little sister and called bear. Until the age of nine Sally had

Astronauts have to take tests before being assigned a mission. Some before flight tests are eye, ear,
and brain testing for good health. Physical and psychological exams and a stress test can be
administered. Along with tests that regard the body, mental tests are given, such as a written essay and
an interview. When Sally first took flight she was thirty two years old. Even though Valentina
Tereshrova beat Sally to the title First Woman in Space on June 16, 1963, it never stopped Sally from
doing her best. Sally s first flight was June 18, 1983. Her mission was STS 7. Her first flight was on
the shuttle Challenger. Captain Robert L. Crippen, Captain Fredrick H. Hauck, Colonel John M.
Fabian, and Dr. Norman E. Thagard were the crew members, excluding Sally. On this flight she was
Mission Specialist and used the robotic arm. Another job Sally had on flight was flight engineer. The
total flight duration was one hundred and forty seven hours. STS 7 landed at Edwards Air Force Base
in California on June 24, 1983. After this flight Sally was credited with the title First American
Woman in Space. October 5, 1984 Sally s second flight launched. This flight was STS 41 G. On this
flight she was also Mission Specialist. One hundred ninety seven hours was the duration of this flight.
The shuttle landed October 13, 1984. Once, during an interview a reporter asked what launch felt like.
Space Mountain is what Sally compared launch to. Space Mountain is a ride in Walt Disney World s
Magic Kingdom park, and said the ride was scarier. After her flights Sally went on tour. After the STS
7, Sally lost much of her privacy. The new popularity traumatized Sally. Respect for Sally from the
public started to disappear. Many saw her as just an idol. With this new popularity, Sally disappeared.
No one could reach her. When she returned, Sally started to question NASA s motives. Sally retired

For and Against Essays
For and against essays
A for and against essay is a formal piece of writing in which a topic is considered from opposing
points of view. You should present both sides in a fair way by discussing them objectively and in equal
detail. A good essay of this type should consist of:
a) an introductory paragraph in which you clearly state the topic to be discussed, without giving your
opinion;
b) a main body in which the points for and against along with your justifications, examples or reasons
are presented in separate paragraphs; and
c) a closing paragraph in which you state your opinion or give a balanced consid¬eration of the topic.
Note: Opinion words (I think, I believe, In my opinion, etc.) can only be used in the closing paragraph

Factors and Effects of Low Body Satisfaction
To understand how people feel about themselves, researchers have investigated body image, body
satisfaction and self esteem. In the scientific literature, adolescents body image has received enormous
attention, but research has focused predominantly on girls and body dissatisfaction, rather than
positive body image. Low body satisfaction has been associated with the development of mental
health conditions, both eating related and global, hence focus on body dissatisfaction is warranted.
Studies have shown a low body satisfaction is associated with mild eating concerns, such as frequent
dieting and has further been reported to be predictive in the development of eating disorders (Ackard,
Croll Kearney Cooke, 2002). Increased depressive symptoms, anxiety, low self esteem and an increase
in risk taking behaviours (Granner, Black Abood, 2002) such as alcohol use, substance abuse and
tobacco use also has association with low body dissatisfaction.
In Western culture, a major cause of body dissatisfaction among females is the perceived pressure
from society because an emphasis of the ideal body shape is unrealistically thin, repeatedly portrayed
through the media where females may feel the need to conform (McCabe Ricciardelli, 2003). Males
feel pressure to follow the sociocultural ideal body form of a V shaped muscular build with broad
shoulders and a lean waste line (Raudenbush Zellner, 1997). These societal pressures can be
persuasive during adolescence and

I also have experience in Sign Language; I know how to ask certain questions that could be helpful in

With these skills being a Business Manger and Owner will be slightly easier because I can
communicate with people that are not fluent in the English language. Even though these skills can be
helpful in certain situations, the only skill that is truly useful is experience. From my first practice
interview I learned that if you dress too casually than they might think that you are not serious about
the job, but if you dress to formally they will think that you don t understand the job completely.
It is best to just wear a pair of black slacks, black dress shoes, and a white, black, or crème colored
shirt. For my interview at McDonalds I wore a pair of black slacks, a white button up shirt, and a pair
of black dress shoes, also for my interview at Redners Warehouse Markets, I wore a pair of black
slack, beige shirt, and a pair of black shoes. In which all of my interviewers commented on how I was
dressed nicely for the interview. For orientation I wore a similar outfit for both occupations.
It is a good idea to wear semi casual clothing for a job shadowing as well. If semi casual attire does
not fit the occupation, it is best to dress for the job you are shadowing or applying for. For my job

The Use Of Vivid Color In The Wizard Of Oz
As Dorothy enters deeper into the world of Oz, we see the vibrant color of green in the trees and the
shades of yellow and blue in the flowers (Fig. 3). One remarkable aspect of the Wizard of Oz has to be
Dorothy s red, sparkly shoes, the famous ruby slippers. They were originally scripted as being silver
but half way through the production they decided to change it to red to take full advantage of the
capabilities of Technicolor. Another reason why they were changed to ruby red was so they can stand
out against the brimstone yellow brick road. The yellow brick road and the Emerald City were further
illustrations of the capabilities of
Technicolor. Such vivid colors weren t just for artistic appeal, they often represented other aspects

Technically a great achievement, MGM studios spared no expense on the production. It was filmed in
Technicolor (uncommon for the time) and featured spectacular sets designed to satisfy both the
audience appetite for glamour and Mitchell s insistence on authenticity (Juddery, 2008). The
Technicolor Corporation required production companies to rent their equipment. Having already
worked with Technicolor, Seltznick rented all seven of Technicolor cameras in order to film Gone with

purpose of the color consultant was to be in charge of all color scenes relating to Gone with the Wind.

Instant Gratification Monkey
After watching these videos about motivation, procrastination, and leadership, it is difficult not to find
myself identifying with all of the discussions, but some more than others. I commonly get attacked by
the instant gratification monkey and put off important things, although it isn t near the same level as
the speaker who had to write his thesis in 72 hours. My motivation is not usually a problem, and I
agree that when we are able to put aside distractions and focus on a task, we have so much power to
do things. However it is a process which, hopefully, we are all making progress in order to become
better at motivating ourselves. My leadership is something I value and I am working on developing.
All three of these aspects are important to consider is our lives so that we can learn our strengths and
weaknesses in order to work on improving ourselves.
Procrastination is something I struggle with sometimes for short term projects, but fortunately usually
I just have more difficult work instead o completely failing at my work. A lot of times my work takes
longer or is delayed because my instant gratification monkey helps me do other things like watch
sports or play games. However, since I recognize this, I hope I will have better success defeating my
procrastination. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Appendectomy
Appendectomy As I laid on the floor crying not being able to move, my mother knew something was
seriously wrong with me. Have you ever had a pain that hurt so bad you felt like you could not even
move? The pain that I was feeling was from something in my abdomen called the appendix. No one
could find out that it was wrong with me, but my mother was very persistent with the doctors that one
finally found out that it was my appendix. In 2014 it was a hot friday summer night, I was at my
friends house about to go to see some type of scary movie at Spartan 16. But, then I felt this shooting
pain to the right side of my abdomen. At first I did not think anything of the pain. I let the pain drag on
for a little while at the movies, but then it felt like someone was stabbing me on the right side of my
abdomen and I could not take the pain anymore. I called my dad crying so hard that he could tell
something was seriously wrong. He knows I am normally a person to have very high pain tolerance.
My dad rushed from whatever he was doing to come pick up from spartan 16. He finally got to me and
rushed me to the Pelham Hospital ER. We finally made it to the Pelham. It felt like one of the longest
car rides ever! We sat in the waiting room for about 15 minutes max. They got us into the exam room
the nurse and doctor came in asking me questions. The doctor pushed on my stomach where my pain
was and I wanted to scream it hurt so bad! The doctor told me, we are going

Descriptive Essay On Elmwood Park
Elmwood Park is a village in Cook County, located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and it was
established in 1914. The community has a population of 24,883 according to the 2010 census, and has
maintained a large Italian American population. I explored this village in early September, and stayed
for a few hours visiting the downtown area and some small neighborhoods. Downtown Elmwood Park
consisted of many restaurants, majority of them were Italian cuisine and Italian pizzerias. I saw a lot
of people outside as it was a nice warm day, there was a park that was filled with young children and
some elders, there was also some other adults walking/running with their dogs. About eighty percent
of the people there were Caucasian or at least it appeared to be that they were Caucasian. There was
about eight restaurants in just one block, and about six barber shops as well, and three grocery stores.
The village looked like it was heavily influenced with Italian culture and it almost felt like I stepped
into a typically Italian American neighborhood movie set. There was one bakery in particular that I
stepped into and also purchased bread from that filled up the block with it s smell which was pleasant
and was what appealed to me in the first place. The bakery had English and Italian text in the business
s posters and signs, a grocery stores also had the bilingual posters and as well as the restaurant next to
it. There was many Catholic parishes, all of which had religious symbols

Intimate Partner Violence Analysis
The fifth and sixth themes go hand in hand and deal with the woman being fed up with their
circumstances and other stressors. The fifth commonality was that many of the women did not become
perpetrators of intimate partner violence until after the birth of their first child. (Seamans, et al., 2007)
Of the women who reported this occurrence, they reported that the stress of being a new parent
coupled with being a victim of intimate partner violence became too much for them. The sixth
commonality was based on asking for help, but not getting it. Many of the women in the study
reported asking their families, their partner s family, as well as authorities for help. (Seamans, et al.,
2007) Instead of receiving the help they so needed, many of them ... Show more content on

The reason for this has already been discussed. The question many people have now is what to do
about traditional treatment s ineffectiveness. Studies show that Behavioral Couples Therapy is
extremely effective in reducing violence and aggression in relationships. (Stith, et al., 2012) However,
there is a caveat to implementing Behavioral Couples Therapy for intimate partner violence.
That is that the couple must also seek treatment for their substance abuse in order to maintain the
reduction in intimate partner violence within the relationship. (Stith, et al., 2012) Altunes Alves and
De Stefano warn that couples therapy should only occur when it will not do more harm to one of the
individuals.

A Good Man Is Hard To Find By Flannery O Connor
Characters of A Good Man id Hard to Find A famous example of American literature is the short story
known as A Good Man Is Hard to Find . The story was written by Flannery O Connor in 1955.
Flannery O Connor was born Mary Flannery O Connor in 1925. She was considered an important
person in American literature, with credits for writing two novels, over 30 short stories and various
reviews and commentaries on other written works. O Connor was raised in the south in the Bible belt
and these traits show within her works. Her writing style is considered Southern Gothic and often
reflects her own views on ethics and morality. I think the author does a good job in her story by
keeping the reader interested with a few twists and a dark albeit realistic tone. O Connor does well at
keeping the story A Good Man is Hard to Find true to the genre. In this story O Connor writes of
several characters and each has their own role and purpose for being in the story and helping it move
along. The story centers on this one s family vacation trip to Florida that is cut short due to murder.
The main characters in the story are Baily, his grandmother, his wife and children and the Misfit. The
different character interactions between each other are what drives this story and explains to the reader
what the different characters are thinking or how they feel. The characters in the story are often at
odds with each other, much like the stereotypical family, where the family members

  • 2. Tale of Two Airlines Essay Case Analysis Tale of Two Airlines in the Network Age By AKK This case analyses Prof. McPherson s service experience with respect to two Airline carriers, which was not expected in this age of Network and Information Technology and also the service level expectations from the customers. First we analyze the setting/situation, issues Prof. McPherson experienced and his assumptions; and then try to address them. The bottom line: addressing such situations would improve efficiency, customer loyalty, brand name and increased profits Situation: * Atlanta s Hartsfield Airport is ranked as one of the busiest international airports. * 3 6PM is one of the busiest times of the day in terms of airline traffic and the number of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The technology to communicate between the airlines is available and the customers do expect that the airlines share their passenger information for connecting flights. Flight to London left 7 minutes before departure time: Given the time and weather, the airline crew would have been under lot of stress and might be very eager to move on to their next task and also we need to consider operational expenses of a foreign airline. There are multiple issues here: 1. No communication between the two airlines regarding the flight delays and the connecting passengers (already discussed above). 2. The London based Airline could have verified their passenger list and should have identified Prof. McPherson as a Gold card member and a loyal customer and should have taken any one of these actions based on the situation: * Should have waited until the departure time. * Should have an agent at the gate until departure time and should have helped Prof. McPherson with alternative arrangements, if he was late. London based airlines should be able to access their central database from any place in the world and should have been able to identify their patrons. Positive note, ... • 3. Emotional Labor As A Workplace While labor can and is often seen as work that is done physically, it is also seen as an act which necessitates using mind and soul. Depending on the area in which an individual works, it can lean towards using all three body, mind, and soul to be successful. It is at this point that Emotional Labor (Hochschild, 1983) begins to take its place in the work environment. Emotional Labor is using self to perform work where an employee creates a pleasant atmosphere by giving good customer service. The ability to use self as a means to perform better on the job may have larger implications than we know of. This paper will look at different ideas which contribute to Emotional Labor as a workplace construct and the effects it has on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, Jason Felix, a Human Resources Technician with College of the Desert describes his thought after having dealt with a rude applicant over the phone, while physical labor is no walk in the park, dealing with people can leave you just as drained, if not more, and it can take longer to regain your emotional stability (J. Felix, personal communication, January 30, 2017). After having been cut off, yelled at, and harangued, Jason had to still go about his day as if nothing happened. The use of good customer service in the face of disrespect is reminiscent Karl Marx writes, the realization of labor appears as a loss of reality for the worker . It is not the real person who is being polite but the person created for the work environment that is required to be polite. With this in mind, having to create an atmosphere of happiness when one isn t feeling happy could result in the depersonalization of happiness with the self (Herpertz et al, 2016). The problem then turns into the employee not knowing whether they are actually happy or is only so used to being happy. How does the employee then adjust to the real world outside of the workplace? In A Managed Heart by Arlie Russell Hochschild, she speaks with airline attendants who must always create a positive space for passengers, their smiles being of most value to the company. • 4. Why Did Gondwana Occur In Australia As it is the oldest of the continents, Australia is often referred to as an ancient land. However, it didn t always have its current shape, as it was once a part of a super continent called Pangaea. This was until it separated and drifted across the Earth s surface, causing a variety of climate changes and other geological events. Around 300 million years ago, Pangea existed during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras and approximately 120 million years ago, Pangea split into two smaller sections called Gondwana and Laurasia. Gondwana formed prior to Pangea , and later on became part of it. However, after the break up of Pangaea, Gondwana possessed most of the regions in today s Southern Hemisphere, including Australia, Africa, Antarctica and South America. Similarly, around 180 million years ago, Gondwana also began to split up. • 5. School Psychologist Mission Statement I believe my mission statement will change as I continue to grow and gain more knowledge about my new career as I continue through my classes and internship, here is where I begin in March 2017. We are all working towards what s best for the child, while each person (parent, teacher, school psychologist, administrator) has their specific role, our collaborative goal is always the same. I want to remember the negative experiences I had as a parent navigating the assessment and initial IEP process and do what I can to keep another family from having a similar experience. I also want to remember all of the positive interactions I ve had with people who have worked together to help a student learn to the best of their abilities. I want developmentally appropriate assessment experiences in hopes of getting the best snapshot of the child. My ideal role as a school psychologist would include assessments, a diagnostic classroom, social skills groups, behavior support, school staff support and parent training. Hopefully each year I am working I can build in all those different elements and eventually have my ideal job. For 10 years I have been teaching a special day preschool class. The past ... I also see the opportunity to work with preschools on behalf of our students who may be attending community ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. How Iphone Is The Size Of Its Screen Over the course of three years, the most meaningful change to the iPhone has been the size of its screen. A phone with a bigger screen was all the consumer really wanted and if Apple wasn t willing to provide them with that then Samsung would. After years of sticking with a 3.5 inch display and watching Android competitors slowly increase their screen size while also increasing their sales, Apple finally gave in to the obvious trend with the larger 4.7 inch iPhone 6 and huge 5.5 inch iPhone 6 Plus. However, as predicted, once Apple released their bigger screened iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Samsung s sales began to decrease. Now that Apple has an iPhone with a big screen and skyrocketing sales there appears to be no obvious reason to make it better, but just like every year as technology changes and improves there is always a demand on Apple to release their new upgraded phone, this year s version being the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Apple s tagline for the iPhone 6S is the only thing that s changed is everything , stating that the brand knows the phone bears a striking resemblance to its 2014 model despite the loads of changes made under the cover (Beavis 1). The reason behind the similar appearance is due to it being an S year for the iPhone, which means the basic physical design of the phone, has stayed the same while there has been a substantial revision to the internals making them faster. His purpose of writing this book was to illustrate the Native Americans side of the colonization of America and their interactions with the new colonizers, while emphasizing the ordeals that they faced at that time. Those ordeals included: disease, economic dependency, imperial struggles, and issues with their neighbors (2). He discusses one instance where the English joined in an alliance with the Iroquois in order to further an anti French sentiment, which would then aid the English in maintaining control of the land and trade. I do not believe that the advantages that the Iroquois gained from these cultivated ties, if any, were clearly presented in the book. Furthermore, not only does it seem like the Indians were not in control of their own destiny and actions at times, but also that they were naive to look positively on the diplomatic gifts from the Europeans. For example, in 1673, the Dutch military gave the Mohawks a diplomatic present in hopes that the Mohawks would tell the commander of the state to put a stop to all correspondence with the Jesuit and Frenchmen from Canada (135). Then Riel decided to negotiate with the Canadian government, which at first refused to recognize him. Undaunted, the provisional government drafted a proposal for the creation of the province of Manitoba. Unfortunately, the leader of the Canadian Party escaped and reached Ottawa first, spreading prejudicial news of the execution and creating outrage. The delegates from Red River had a hard time getting recognition from Macdonald s government, but eventually their case was heard and agreed upon. The Manitoba Act was created granting land rights, as well as making two official languages and education systems. • 15. The Sapir Whorf Hypothesis And Arguments For And Against It For all humans, language is the most common means of communication with others and it enables us to share our experiences and stories and to tell about our needs and feelings. For example, Yamamoto states that sociolinguistics see, it is primarily through the use of language that people communicate with each other (1979: 146). We all speak one or more languages and as the main way of communication it is an important and vital part of our lives. There is many languages in the world and they differ from one another in many ways. But does the language we speak reflect to the way we see and experience the world around us? This paper will explore the question through the Sapir Whorf hypothesis and arguments for and against it. The Sapir Whorf hypothesis mentioned above is based on the ideas of Edward Sapir and Benjamin Whorf who studied aboriginal languages among Native American tribes, mostly the Hopi. They believed that the language one speaks is directly related to the way they understand the reality and see the world. For example, Whorf once wrote we dissect nature along lines laid down by our native languages (Whorf cited in Salzmann 1993: 153) which led to Zdenek Salzmann s conclusion of Whorf s ideas: Difference among languages must therefore be reflected in the differences in the worldviews of their speakers (1993: 156). This hypothesis has been challenged many times by several anthropologists and linguists and there are arguments and evidence for and against it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. A Worn Path Essay A Worn Path A Worn Path is, in my opinion, a very good story. It tells of an old black woman and the struggles she s had to deal with throughout her life. The author names the woman Phoenix after a mythological bird that died and then came back to life through its ashes which makes it immortal. The author makes the woman immortal because she continues to have something to live for, her grandson, whom she apparently considers her biggest gift. The author never says exactly how often the woman makes the journey, but we know she s made it before because the attendants knew who she was when she came in the building. The journey she takes in this story represents her role in life. She is an old black lady living in a white society with no education. Many things make this journey very tough: it is very cold, the path is uphill, and the woman is very old. The trip she makes shows just how determined the woman is to make it through life. Whether or not her grandson was dead or alive, to me, does not have much effect on the story. Either way, the woman making the trip for him shows her devotion to him and how much she loves him dead or alive. At times in the story, the woman seems very confused. When she mistakes the scarecrow for a ghost, when she thought the thorn bush was a green bush, and not knowing whether or not her grandson is alive indicate confusion. The dialogue between Phoenix and the nurse certainly indicates confusion or forgetfulness. At first she doesn t respond to the attendant. However, once she realizes why she is where she is, her love and devotion to her grandson is obvious. Both the hunter and the attendant call the woman granny and this shows how the woman was treated her whole life, like an old grandma who has no business in town. These moments represent how insignificant she is in society. Throughout her life, Phoenix probably had to steal just to get by. A good example of this is when she takes the nickel from the ... Recommendation: The best market for GENICON to enter is the Brazil market as the competition is relatively low on both the locally produced products and imports. The best course of action would be to enter into a joint venture with a local Brazilian firm (as there can some sort of traditional/cultural misunderstanding). This will allow GENICON to overcome the cultural aspects of doing business in Brazil such as leveraging in local distribution network and avoiding the crime factor. Through joint venture the GENICON will be able to save the tax which the Brazilian government might have imposed. Background In 1866 Wilham Ebstein first described the cardiac defects associated with Ebsteins s Anomaly. Ebstein was a doctor born in Prussia in 1836 who received his medical degree from Berlin in 1859. A 19 year old patient who presented with shortness of breath and palpitations was not able to withstand his insufficient tricuspid valve. Wilham s autopsy of the young man indicated an enlarged and fenestrated anterior tricuspid leaflet; the posterior and septal leaflets were hypoplastic, thickened and adherent to the right ventricle, an enlarged right atrium, and a patent foramen ovale (Swiss Medical Weekly, 2005). Although Ebstein portrayed the first case it was not until 1927 that Alfred Arnstein suggested the name Ebstein s Anomaly for these defects. Ten years later in 1937 Yates and Sharpiro confirmed a case of Ebstein s Anomaly with radiographic and electrocardiographic data (Riaz, 2013). In the past this anomaly was typically diagnosed during an autopsy, now echocardiography is the standard for diagnosis. In the scientific literature, adolescents body image has received enormous attention, but research has focused predominantly on girls and body dissatisfaction, rather than positive body image. Low body satisfaction has been associated with the development of mental health conditions, both eating related and global, hence focus on body dissatisfaction is warranted. Studies have shown a low body satisfaction is associated with mild eating concerns, such as frequent dieting and has further been reported to be predictive in the development of eating disorders (Ackard, Croll Kearney Cooke, 2002). Increased depressive symptoms, anxiety, low self esteem and an increase in risk taking behaviours (Granner, Black Abood, 2002) such as alcohol use, substance abuse and tobacco use also has association with low body dissatisfaction. In Western culture, a major cause of body dissatisfaction among females is the perceived pressure from society because an emphasis of the ideal body shape is unrealistically thin, repeatedly portrayed through the media where females may feel the need to conform (McCabe Ricciardelli, 2003). The story was written by Flannery O Connor in 1955. Flannery O Connor was born Mary Flannery O Connor in 1925. She was considered an important person in American literature, with credits for writing two novels, over 30 short stories and various reviews and commentaries on other written works. O Connor was raised in the south in the Bible belt and these traits show within her works. Her writing style is considered Southern Gothic and often reflects her own views on ethics and morality. I think the author does a good job in her story by keeping the reader interested with a few twists and a dark albeit realistic tone. O Connor does well at keeping the story A Good Man is Hard to Find true to the genre. In this story O Connor writes of several characters and each has their own role and purpose for being in the story and helping it move along.
