Students Should Be A Preset Learning Position Essay
First, students should be in a preset learning position in which they have greater attention and
openness to the explanations and instructions. After presenting the learning objective, the material
available and expected products, the student participation is requested to do a review about
concepts and procedures, in order to review the steps to solve equations with binomials and
polynomials. At this point, it is important to consider the appropriate momentum (Saphier and
Gower, 1997) to keep lessonin motion by overlapping to maximize time taking attendance while
the review is done, and provisioning to get all the necessary materials to avoid breaks in the
process. Students are organized into working groups (a maximum of four participants) for the
purpose of activating cooperation, as well as the dialogue and discussion about solving
equations. Once students are ready to start its work, the teacher presents a summary of the most
important aspects to consider during the process of solving the equations, circling around the
working groups, answering questions and reviewing the progress of the students. This could be
more effective if the instruction is subdivided (Saphier and Gower, 1997) by socializing and
requesting some answers for example, and also by asking how they got to step two or three before
reaching the solution, so that the lesson is flexible and accessible for all students according to
their level of ownership since (Darch Crichlow, 2003) teachers can

Othello Eros Love Essay
Eros Love in Othello Eros love in Othello is the mature love between Othello and Desdemona.
Through calm or rough times, this form of love shows up again and again. Shakespeare s use of
figurative language and literary devices greatly shows Eros throughout the play Othello between
Othello and Desdemona. In the beginning of the story, Eros loveshows up between the two lovers.
Othellowasn t from Venice and he was also black. When Desdemona s father, Brabantio, found out
that she married Othello, he believed that Othello put magical spells on her when in reality, she
loved him. I am hitherto your daughter, but here s my husband. (Shakespeare, 21) She told
everyone that she loved him on her own and chose to marry him. Another spot this form of love

Even then, the couple showed eros love. Before Othello goes to kill Desdemona, he shows how
much he really loved her. Oh balmy breath, that dost almost persuade justice to break her sword.
One more, one more! Be thus when thou art dead and I will kill thee, and love thee after. One
more, and that s the last! (Shakespeare, 114) Even before he goes to kill Desdemona, Othello
shows how much he loves her. He wants one last kiss before he kills her. After Othello strangled
Desdemona, Emilia walked into the horrific scene. She asked Desdemona who tried to kill her
and Desdemona responded that it was herself. O who hath done this deed? Nobody I myself.
Farewell. Commend my to my kind lord. O, farewell! (Shakespeare, 119) Even after Othello goes
to kill Desdemona, she loves him enough to cover for his dirty deed. Throughout the play Othello,
Othello and Desdemona showed eros love. Through the calm and rough times, eros love was shown
between Othello and Desdemona. Shakespeare s figurative language and imagery depicted the

Compensation Philosophy Paper
Compensation Philosophy
It most likely goes without saying that people who work for a living do so in order to get paid.
Everyone has bills and living expenses that need to be paid; therefore, individuals exchange our
time for a paycheck so these expenses can be addressed. However, since most people spend more
time at work than they do with their families, there should to be a larger reason than pay that
drives each of us to get up every morning to go to a job. It is the responsibility of the organization
to provide its employees with that reason, and it comes in the form of a compensation philosophy. It
is the intention of this paper to explain the need and rationale for an organization to have a
compensation philosophy, propose a compensation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compensation in these organizations has many faces. Employee compensation may look quite a bit
different that that of the executives, and certainly different from that of the stockholders
/shareholders of the organization. The following is a proposal of how a compensation philosophy
might look for a Fortune 500 Company:
Compensation Philosophy
It is the key compensation goal of this organization to offer compensation in such a manner as to
encourage innovation, creativity, camaraderie, and shareholder value in order to attract and retain
the highest quality employees available in the industry. Our compensation program is to be based
upon the following five components:
1.As a Fortune 500 Company, our compensation is designed not only to attract and retain high
performing corporate professionals, but also to ensure the package is designed with shareholder
interests as the basis of its existence.
2.Our compensation package will be equal to or better than any compensation offering by our

Essay on Servant Leader
February 5, 2004
Greenleaf s The Servant Leader
The Servant Leader discusses the importance of leaders who adopt a service oriented attitude in
which they care for the needs of others before their own. A servant leader need not be an actual
servant or have ever been a servant to become a servant leader. Rather, a servant leader is born
with or adopts an others first disposition. Climbing through the ranks may help to create a servant
leader, though it is not necessary. When leaders choose to see that the needs of their followers or
their organizations are the highest priority they become servants. The importance of servant
leadership should not be underestimated and it can be simplified and embodied in one timeless
phrase: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a way, the servant leader reads his or her audience and adjusts accordingly.
Under the heading Know the Unknowable В– Beyond Conscious Rationality is a discussion of
creativity. Leadership . . . imposes some intellectual demands that are not measured by academic
intelligence ratings (14). The success of a leader is not determined solely on their intellect.
While education certainly contributes, it is not a guarantee. What leaders need to know goes
beyond what can be taught in a classroom or read in a book. The servant leader relies on
intuition creativity. One of my favorite quotations appears in this section: Others will depend on
him to go out ahead and show the way because his judgment will be better than most. Leaders,
therefore, must be more creative than most; and creativity is largely discovery, push into the
uncharted and the unknown. Every once in a while a leader finds himself needing to think like a
scientist, an artist, or a poet (15). Ultimately, I find that Greenleaf would say that a combination
of intellect and instinct make the best leaders. This quotation also suggests that a leader must be
versatile rather than an expert in one or two areas. He or she should be able to step into the shoes
of others and find new perspectives. Greenleaf s discussion of Awareness and Perception offers
some especially important life

The Between Nazis And The German Jews
Whether it is turning off one s alarm and getting off of one s bed, making breakfast, taking the
bus to school, tying one s shoes, or sitting down in the same room for the same class at the same
time, all of these are examples of rituals in day to day life. Different people have different
interpretations of what the word ritualexactly means. A particular film, the likes of The Boy in the
Striped Pajamas conveys many of these meanings; analyzing the characters in this story, more
specifically the contrast between the Nazis and the German Jews, their personality can be
sufficiently explained via Malory Nye s theory regarding symbolism in ritual, Emile Durkheim s
idea of ritual as being a society based action, Harvey Whitehouse s thought about the relationship
between ritual and memory, and Nye s perception of ritual as being a means of attaining power.
Pulling these theories together, the message in this film becomes, as commonly stated: what
comes around goes around, and as such, regardless of another person s belief, one should not
discriminate against that person based on their beliefs and values. Throughout the film, it is the
Jewish Germans who are dressed with the striped pyjamas in the movie of discussion. And with
deliberate reason. As such, it is not surprising that Nye has developed a theory of ritual which he
labels as being a symbolist approach to religionand ritual . Delving deeper, what Nye tries to argue
is that the importance and significance of

Medicare And The Elderly Of The United States
The quantity of Medicare eligible individuals continues to grow as the median age of the
population of the United States rises. The old Medicare system has become outdated and strained
because of the volume of individuals that are currently receiving benefits within the program. Since
the enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicarehas become the main source of
delivering healthcare insurance for the elderly of the United States. In order to meet the current
requirements of the ACA, Medicare must be reformed in order to provide the promised services for
the individuals that are currently receiving benefits and for the future survival of the program.
Medicare was established by the federal government to provide healthcare insurance initially for
the elderly and included the disabled a few years after the program s inception. As of 2013, there
were 52.3 million beneficiaries of Medicare, with an average of $11,910 spent on each individual
for healthcare, with a total annual budget of $582.9 billion (NCPSSM, 2015). Medicare is funded
through two trust fund accounts that are held by the U.S. Treasury: the Hospital Insurance (HI) and
Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) Trust Funds (Medicare.gov, 2015). These trust funds are
financed by payroll deductions, Social Security benefit taxes, premiums paid by Medicare
beneficiaries, interest from investments, and funds furnished by Congress (Medicare.gov, 2015).
All of these resources subsidize the Medicare Trust Fund in

Essay on Gender in Hawthorne’s Blithedale Romance
Gender in Hawthorne s Blithedale Romance
The Blithedale Romance, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a story of a twisted utopia. This
perfect world is twisted in that the roles of gender have a traditional utopian representation, only
with a more contemporary take. Of course, this is interesting because this book was written and
published in the 19th century when such ideas were beginning to establish a form for the genre of
writing. Hawthorne combines fantasy, philosophy, mystery, gothic, and even [what would be called
today] science fiction. This novel illustrates the early break from even fresh ideas. The writing
style allows for the genderizing degenderizing affect as well as nature of the self.

The males within the novel always seemed to be placing their skills and knowledge above the
women s own. Characters such as Coverdale and Hollingsworth placed their own thoughts above
those of the female characters almost anytime that they could. The women, oddly, seemed to
show diverse roles. Subtly, this is a representation of women as more complex than men in
general. One of the characters, Zenobia, is probably the most least genderized character of the
novel, that is, until the end. Throughout most of the novel, she is seen as very masculine (in
comparison to traditional roles that is) yet very feminine at the same time. She has a mystical
illusion about her yet seems very sensible in the ways of life. However, by the end of the novel,
Hawthorne writes her character to be very manipulative and weak, for she dies of grief. On the
other hand, the other female character, Priscilla, seems to hold the same mystical aura about her,
yet she is the is the typical female character. She is feminine in her daily activities; she prances
around with a constant smile and seems naive about the world. She is the victim of other s doings.
The hierarchy of the sexes is blatantly obvious in that it favors the male and holds the male ideals
perfectly.
Nature was a main idea in the

Pedagogical Similarities Between Sankara And Mooji
Mooji, in comparison to his historical counterpart Sankara, shares many pedagogical similarities,
as well as some respective differences. In reference to Sankara s UpadeЕ›asДЃhasri, Mooji shares
major resemblances in how he delivers his teachings, notably the poetic manner in which he
presents his works. Mooji s written works primarily consist of short poetic utterances, delivering a
what could be categorized as a philosophically artistic teaching. Sankara s teachings are also
presented in an vivid manner, priming the seeker who is studying with a mixed variety imagery
and examples, such as the tale of Udaб№…ka, the sage who suspected Vishnu s urine from the

Where they share the majority of their commonalities are in their teachings themselves. The
nondual tenets in which Mooji propagates regards that of Sankara s with impeccable similarity.
Mooji s philosophy, which is centered in the Advaita tradition, is heavily influenced by his master
Papaji and Sri Ramana Maharshi, both of which propagated the Advaita tradition to a certain degree,
as in fact, R. Maharshi actually translated much of Sankara s work into Tamil and was incredibly
proficient in Vedantic scripture. Being said, it should then not come to surprise that him and
Sankara put forth near identical ideological tenets in some categorical respects. For example, one
tenet which is incredibly prominent throughout the entirety Sankara s UpadeЕ›asДЃhasri, is his
notion of action less action. He propagates that

How I Become An Electrician
How to Become an Electrician Last summer, I worked for an electrician company that helped
open my eyes to all the possibilities that I could do in the world, and becoming an electrician was
one of them. Since I have worked at the company, becoming an electrician is definitely something I
want to learn more about. In this essay, I want to further my knowledge on how to become an
electricianby uncovering the process that I need to know to become one. Also, the difference
between choosing to become a union or non union electrician if it is what I choose to do. The
first step to becoming an electrician is to do some preliminary schooling. This relates to taking
relevant high school classes if you previously had an interest in becoming an electrician or at the
collegiate level (How to Become . . . ). Kirkwood offers a few programs to help give you some of
the basics. Their industrial maintenance and electrical engineeringprograms can both help you get
ready to get into an apprenticeshipprogram The industrial maintenance technology program is

1950 s Double Helix
In the 1950 s many scientists were trying to study and find the structure of DNA. Early before
the 1950 s the work of pioneers had discovered DNA. Scientists began to wonder what else is the
DNA made up of and what is it s structure. Many competed to discover the DNA. It just so
happens in 1953 two men succeeded in their goal. James Watson and Francis Crickmade a mark in
the history of science. On this day February 28, 1953 Watson and Crick made the discovery of a
double helix in the DNA.
Studying DNA is understanding how genes process within new cells. It helps discover the genetic
code and protein synthesis. DNA has a complex structure simple enough to be discovered. The

They shared some of the same ideas on how they could solve the problem. The two men had very
different personalities, they respected each other s work and became very good friends. Through
this friendship Watson and Crick came up with an idea of testing their theory of how the DNA
molecule might fit together by using stick ball models. Even though their first attempt failed, they
didn t give up. In addition to the stick ball models, Watson and Crick used x ray pictures to give
them ideas for the structure.
There were two scientists that were experts in taking these x ray pictures. Watson and Crick used
pictures taken by Rosaline Franklin and Maurice Wilkins to gain some valuable information.
Within two years of starting their study Crick and Watson were able to put together an accurate
model of the DNA structure. The double helix model shape would eventually help scientist all over
the world learn more about genetics. DNA is composed of nucleotide deoxyribose sugar a phosphate
group and four nitrogen. Phosphate and sugar link to form a polymer x ray provided the final clue
of DNA. DNA molecule is a double helix shaped of a structure like a twisted ladder. The ladder is

The Cultural Icon Of The 20th Century Essay
Amber Gentile 12 December 2016 Period 2 Albert Einstein The Cultural Icon from the 20th
Century Albert Einstein once said I want to know God s thoughts, the rest are details . Einstein
wanted an equation that would encapsulate all physical laws. To put the beauty and the power of
the universe into a single equation was his life s goal. Although Einstein s name is now
synonymous with genius, his professors would have never predicted him to be this successful
as he would always cut class, and he could not get a single job after graduating. Einstein thought
he was such loser that he wrote a letter to his family saying perhaps it would be better if he was
never born. His father had to apply on behalf of Einstein for academic positions, but they all said
there were no positions available. His father passed away thinking that Einstein was a total
disgrace to the family. In 1902 Einstein moved to Switzerland, and began a career far from
science. One of his friends got him a job to be a patent clerk in the Swiss patent office. He spent
six days a week reviewing applications submitted by inventors to the Swiss government. He had to
analyze the patents and strip them to their essence, which honed his skills as a physicist. Since it
was not intellectually demanding it would give him ample time to contemplate the universe.
Einstein s daydreams would change the way the universe was understood. In 1905 in what has
been called his miracle year, he publishes in his spare time four

Impact of Media on Politics Essay
Impact of Media on Politics
The role media plays in politics is undeniable. Our soundbite culture with its inherent limited
attention span dictates a McNugget of information. Unfortunately this often leads to
misrepresentations being accepted as fact. A glaring example of this was the Killian documents
controversy. In September 2004, the CBS program 60 Minutes Wednesday aired a report critical of
President George W. Bushs service in the United States National Guard. The four documents
included criticisms of Bush s service in the Guard during the 1970s. These documents were
supposedly created by Bush s commander, the late Lieutenant Colonel Jerry B. Killian. It was also

On a lighter note, presidential candidate Bill Clinton made a surprise appearance on The Arsenio
Hall Show during the 1992 Presidential Campaign. He was trailing in the polls at the time so it
was a very savvy attempt to capture the young voter. Mr. Clinton wore dark sunglasses and played
Heartbreak Hotel on his saxophone. In the end, Bill Clinton easily defeated George Bush and Ross
Perot with 43 percent of the vote. Some pundits have suggested that this appearance turned the race
around.
Easily the most polarizing force in media today is talk radio. In 1987 the FCC repealed the Fairness
Doctrine. This regulation had required that stations provide free air time for responses to any
controversial opinions that were broadcast. Now the opportunity was available for a level of flatly
partisan programming. As referenced by Wikipedia,
Talk radio provided an immediacy and a high degree of emotionalism that seldom is reached on
television or in magazines. Pew researchers found in 2004 that 17% of the public regularly listens
to talk radio. This audience is mostly male, middle aged and conservative. Among those who
regularly listen to talk radio, 41% are Republican and 28% are Democrats. Furthermore, 45%
describe themselves as conservatives, compared with 18% who say they are liberal.

War With Honor In Shakespeare s War With Honor
War with Honor Shakespeare s history, Henry V, focuses on the significance integrity and honor
have in war. Despite inheriting the throne at such a young age, Henry is able to prove himself a
worthy king. His preceding reputation as an immature and childish prince contrasts with his current
character driven by nobility, ultimately magnifying his strength as a leader. Referencing Henry s
previous poor reputation, the Dauphin of Francemocks his youthful past to which Henry responds
with a fierceness only exercised by a powerful king. Furthermore, he proves his nobility as a leader
through his commitment to protecting both his land, as well as his people. Although Henry V
recognizes the dangers of war, he goes on to demonstrate his integrity by choosing to engage in
battle while simultaneously honoring the rules of war. Contrary to the Dauphin s belief, Henry
does in fact understand the price Britain must pay if they start a war with France. When a plot
against Englandis discovered and the traitor s are brought to sentencing, Henry admonishes them,
listing all of the aftereffects their deed would have had on his kingdom. He knows that had the
traitors not been caught, they would have sold [their] king to slaughter, his princes and his peers to
servitude, his subjects to oppression and contempt, and his whole kingdom into desolation (2.2.178
82). However, it is important to note that this outcome is not solely tied to traitors actions had they
been successful.

7 wonders are beautiful things in the world that need to be protected.
When Sir George Everest discovered mount Everest in 1856 the mountain stood at 29,002 feet tall
and today now stands 29,029 feet tall but is still growing 25 inches every year. While mount
Everest is beautiful it is also cold and dangerous. The lowest the temperature can get is 80
degrees fahrenheit. About some two hundred dead bodies cover the mountain from things like:
falls, avalanches, and exposure to frostbite and there is about one in ten successful summits that
end in death. It costs about 55,500 dollars to climb mount Everest. Some coasts are climbing

The Greatest Lesson Of The Cedar Forest
Death is an inevitable and inescapable fact of human life, which is the greatest lesson
Gilgamesh learns. Gilgamesh is bitter that only the gods can live forever and says as much
when Enkidu warns him away from their fight with Humbaba. Life is short, the two warriors tell
each other on their way to the deadly confrontation in the Cedar Forest, and the only thing that
lasts is fame. But when Enkidu is cursed with an inglorious, painful death, their bravado rings
hollow. Shamash, the sun god, consoles Enkidu by reminding him how rich his life has been,
but though Enkidu finally resigns himself to his fate, Gilgamesh is terrified by the thought of
his own. Mesopotamian theology offers a vision of an afterlife, but it gives scant comfort the
dead spend their time being dead. If Gilgamesh s quest to the Cedar Forest was in spite of death,
his second quest, to Utnapishtim, is for a way to escape it. Utnapishtim s account of the flood
reveals how ludicrous such a goal is, since death is inextricably woven into the fabric of creation.
But life is woven in as well, and even though humans die, humanity continues to live. The lesson
that Gilgamesh brings back from his quest isn t ultimately about death it s about life. Although we
never learn exactly why the gods unleashed the great flood in Gilgamesh, we know why Ea rescues
Utnapishtim and through him all the creatures and people of the world. As the god of wisdom and
crafts, Ea is responsible for human attributes including

Notes On The Day Of The National Anthem
Quotes 1 this quote reminds me of my training in jujutsu. For each black belt, there are three
main concepts you must try and work in to your life. For the first degree, black belt one of those
is determination. I believe that this is important for the first level because it help teach us to not
give up and to continue to train no matter what. 2 It is the mark of an educated mind to be able
to entertain a thought without accepting it This quote make me think about how important
critical thinking skills are. If we blindly trust everything we here or whatever we think without
truly analyzing what we are about to say. It is because we fail to analyze our thoughts that we
end up with so much false in for nation. Currently I see this as a big problem without modern
society as most people will just believe everything that we here on the news. Once we are
educated thou we CNS better weed out truth from fiction. 3 Should we stand to the national
anthem at sporting events and why? I think that it is truly your own opinion and that it also
depends on why you chose to sit. I don t think it is that important to stand for the anthem. I
personally don t see what the big deal with our obsession with our country is. Most Americans are
overly patriotic if you ask me and we should all lighten up a little bit. We seem to think that our
country is the greatest and that we are somehow better than other countries. Standing for the anthem

Relationship Between Tom Buchanan And Myrtle Wilson
Fitzgerald developes Tom Buchanan and Myrtle Wilson as unlikable, unjust and careless
characters in this passage in chapter two. Myrtle Wilson is married to George Wilson, while
Tom Buchanan is married to Daisy. The two have an affair and use the small apartment in New
York to be together. Cheating is unethical and is often frowned upon. This may be one of the
reasons why Fitzgerald decided to portray the two characters the way he did. Fitzgerald uses
word choice, diction and detail to develop the two characters. Myrtle Wilson, in the second
paragraph, let four taxi cabs drive past before she selected one. This diction used by the author
develops Myrtle as a high maintenance character. On the top of the second page, she asks if the
dog was a boy or a girl very delicately. FItzgerald used the word delicately to further develop
Myrtle as a delicate and frail character. Myrtle s physical appearance is described as, She had
changed her dress to a brown figured muslin which stretched tight over her rather wide hips as Tom
helped her to the platform in New York, . Fitzgerald dropped many hints that Myrtle was an
immoral and unjust character, making her seem to the reader as... Show more content on

Since Tom was Nick s friend, he was not described in the same manner that Myrtle was. Tom is a

most protruding evidence of Tom s personality comes directly after the breeder of the dogs
announced that the dog that they purchased was a boy. After being told this Tom immediately
declares that it was a female. Tom s ignorance and poor listening skills is on full display here as he
shows no respect toward the dog owner. Tom s physical appearance is not described in this passage

Thomas Edison’s History with the Incandescent Light Bulb
Thomas Edison s History with the Incandescent Light Bulb Who invented the light bulb? Only a
few really know the true answer to this question. Most people around the US simply think that
Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. The story or invention myth behind the bulb varies
drastically from the general public s belief. The belief is that a lone inventor, Thomas Edison, sat
down in his workshop and simply created the incandescent light bulbout of thin air. Edison in no
way created the incandescent light bulb out of thin air. He used the knowledge of previous
researchers and inventors to make a the first commercialized light bulb and gained world wide
recognition as a result. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the first know traces of
light can be tracked to Great Britain in 1803. Humphry Davy created the first ever man made
light seen in the World. He demonstrated the ability to flow electric current through two pieces
of carbon powered by a battery source creating a bright and powerful arc. Some researchers give
Mr. Davy credit as the inventor of light (DOE). Things took a drastic change in 1835. James
Bowman Lindsay was able to keep a constant electric current flowing. He used parts of Davy s old
design and simply improved it. His ability to keep current flowing revolutionized the technology
and created the first ever incandescent light bulb (Live Science). Edison was not born until 1843,
so it is ridiculous for him to be credited with inventing the

The Decline Of Christianity In Twentieth Century Europe
The Decline of Christianity in Europe
The twentieth century was a time of great flux and anxiety in Europe as the supremacy of
Christianity in Europe was being challenged by the fronts of biblical criticism, and evolution.
According to Rev, Andrew Greeley, a social sciences professor at the University of Chicago, belief
in God has increased in Russia and Hungary and decreased in Britain, the Netherlands, western
Germany and France. Atheism thrives in eastern Germany, Russia, The Czech Republic and France.
Interestingly though, most European countries report denominational affiliation. According to Dr
Greeley, there was a time when people were more religious than they are now. Secularizers like to

Darwin argued that those individuals that are well suited to their environment survive, prosper
and give birth to new individuals that share their characteristics, while those less suited will die
out. Any new characteristics with which an individual is born are likely to be passed on if it is
useful. Species evolve and develop in a process that is not random, or determined by God, but
instead follows natural laws (Towns). The theory of evolution contradicted fundamental Christian
beliefs about humanity and sin. In 1871, Darwin published the Descent of Man, in which he argued
that human beings evolved naturally from lower creatures stating that not only does life itself
follow natural laws but also the human mind and soul are not some supernatural element breathed
into the body by God. By eliminating God, Darwin was saying that they evolved from nothing thus
eliminating the most important element, God. (Hill). The theory of evolution denied the direct
creation of man by God and the greatest damage came from the application of that theory to the
development of religion. Darwinism was born. God and the Bible were looked upon as the

Essay about American Airlines Competitive Strategy
Evaluate American s 1992 announcement of a new rate structure:
a. What changes did American make?
American Airlines (American) made four fundamental changes to its rates. First, it moved to a four
tier rate structure; American offered first class rates and three tiers of coach: full fare, 21 day
advance purchase and 7 day advance purchase. Overall, it expected to reduce coach fares by 38%
and first class fares by 20% to 50%. Though full fare coach prices dropped by about 38%, advance
purchase fares dropped by 6% when compared to the advance purchase tickets already being
offered. Through this fare structure, American also eliminated deep discount tickets. Second,
American eliminated the negotiated discount contracts of many large ... Show more content on

Travel agents therefore are both positively and negatively impacted. Small business customers are
positively impacted by the fare changes. Previously, the higher full fare prices discouraged small
business travel; small businesses would either decide against travel or incur the cost of a Saturday
night stay and purchase a reduced fare ticket. By reducing the full coach fares, small businesses
will be able to purchase more convenient flights at more economical prices. Large businesses, on
the other hand, may be negatively impacted. Since many large businesses had negotiated discount
rate contracts with airlines, the new full coach fare may be higher than these negotiated fares. For
large businesses that did not have negotiated contracts, the fares will be lower than the previous full
fare rate.
Leisure travelers overall will be made better off by the new fare structure. These travelers have
more flexibility and can take advantage of the advance purchase discounts and Saturday night stay
discounts. An exception to this is leisure travelers who had found loop holes in the old fare system
by using creative ticketing and waiting for deep discounts. These leisure travelers may pay higher
rates because the deep discounts will no longer be offered.
c. Why did each of American s competitors react to the fare changes the way they did?
Continental, Northwest and United Airlines intended to adopt part of the new fare system.

What constitutes a family? A husband, a wife, and kids? Your Aunties, Uncles, and cousins

is a pet you are not entitled to it. No matter who dies in your family, it is always hard on a person,
even if you weren t that close to the deceased, it is still hard. What about the pet that is there
every day to greet you, who still loves you no matter what you do. Does this mean that you will
feel less pain if your pet is the deceased? Wouldn t it be better all round, if an employee knows
that they can grieve for their four legged fur baby, without worrying about work, instead of
coming to work and breaking down at their desk, and possibly get no work done? It is also
possible that a colleague will console you which means both of you don t get much work done.
Wouldn t it be more beneficial for the Employer, if bereavement was given in these circumstances?

There could be many ways that people may try and milk the system which could be a reason
why this is a topic of debate but, if the animals are family members, then there is reason to
believe that owners should have just as much right to use their sick leave for their ailing pet, and
bereavement leave for their deceased. Fact is that losing a beloved pet is no different to losing a

Erik Erikson s Developmental Theory Essay
Firstname Lastname Instructor s Name Course Number Date Erik Erikson Developmental Theory
Erik Erikson is a famous German born American psychologist, who developed his own
psychoanalytical developmental theory. This developmental theory was aimed to identify the steps
a developing human should to pass from infancy to adulthood. Erikson identified eight steps of the
psychological development. The ideas of Erikson were heavily influenced by an Austrian
psychologist Sigmund Freud, who also analyzed the human psychological development and
identified psychosexual stages of development. However, Erikson did not emphasize the
predominant role of sexual development in psychological development. He argued that the role of
culture and society on a human was the most significant factor which through the evolution
separated human psychological development from the development of animals. Erikson writes
that there are conflicts which take place within ego and they are usually caused by external
factors (society, culture, etc.) Thus, according to Erikson, a human successfully completes the
stage when he resolves the main conflict within his ego. (McLeod) Erikson develops his ideas
basing on the idea that biological and social nature coexist in each person and each psychological
crisis at the end of each life stage reveals a conflict between social and biological forces of a
human. Reconciliation of these two identities leads to the harmonious psychological development.

An Essay About My Cultural Identity
What is my cultural identity? Personally, I don t think I am completely assured on what my cultural
identity is, but I can do my best on explaining it. However, I won t get started on that yet, first I ll
explain the occasion of me learning about my identity. At almost the beginning of the year, it was
announced in our English class that we would be doing an essay on our cultural identities. When
my teacher announced this I thought to myself, What in the world is a cultural identity, or even my
cultural identity? In these months, we have gotten to learn the definition of culture, and what it
means to us, individually., I believe that culture means a group of people that share the same
customs, way of life, and beliefs. Also, over these last couple of months we have been reading
texts all about people knowing and understanding their cultural identities, meanwhile I still didn
t understand my own. All I know is that I was born on February 11, 2002, I like movies and
music, and my mom is from Chile and my Dad is from Virginia. Now that didn t feel like enough
for me to write on, but then I started thinking about all of the cultural differences that my parents
have had raising me as a person, and how those have all combined to make me. In my short 15
years of life, the culture clashes have sometimes affected me on my thoughts and opinions,
which I ll talk about later on. As well as how movies and music have affected my perspectives
and opinions. Now there are a lot of aspects that make me as a person, but the one I want to
develop on the most would be the fact that I have been raised by two almost completely different
cultures, my dad being raised in a more conservative setting, while my mom was raised in a more
carefree, but still careful setting, but they both lived in similar living conditions, not having a lot of
money, but they found ways in their times to overcome those issues and cope with them. Which
makes them similar on how they have raised me and my two siblings, but still quite different in
other aspects. I found this part of me, with the combined cultures of my parents, to be very
conflicting at times because when my dad would talk about different topics, my mother would just

Black Humor in America
Black Humor
One of the most underappreciated and unrecognized forms of comedy is black humor. Black
humor often deals with events that are not often associated with other forms of comedy, such as
war, murder, insanity and death. The main reason that this form of comedy is so underappreciated
is that it requires some thinking on the part of the audience and many people are not willing to do
that. The types of humor that are popular today do not require much thinking and can be
characterized as one liners. However, black humor has been used as an effective means of satire
usually towards a tragic event. One of the biggest misconceptions about black humor is that it
involves race. Black humor is not a form of African Americanhumor ... Show more content on

Even though this is such a great model of black comedy, Joseph Heller said that he was not aware
that it would be funny when he wrote it (Catch 22, Computer). In the story, Catch 22 is a military
rule that employs circular logic. An example of this is the rule that deals with avoiding combat
missions:
One may only be excused from flying bombing missions on the grounds of insanity; one must
assert one s insanity to be excused on this basis; one who requests to be excused is presumably in
fear for his life. This is taken to be proof of his sanity, and he is therefore obliged to continue
flying missions; one who is truly insane presumably would not make the request. He therefore
would continue flying missions, even though as an insane person he could of course be excused
from them simply by asking. (Catch 22, Computer)
The main themes in Heller s novel are paradox and contradiction. He used his novel as a way to
show the absurdity of war and to protest World War II. Another author, Kurt Vonnegut wrote
Slaughterhouse Five in 1969 as an analysis of the human condition from an uncommon perspective,
using time travel as a plot device and the bombing of Dresden in World War II, which Vonnegut
witnessed, as a starting point (Slaughter, wikipedia). The humor in this book comes from Vonnegut
s downplay of human mortality. He uses the phrase so it goes whenever dying is mentioned. Much

The Effect Of Interval Training On Muscle Fatigue
Introduction
Interval training is charactered by intensity, work duration and rest periods. It involves a short or
long durations of high intensity exercise repeated with a specific amount of recovery. The training
type improves athlete s performance along with their cardiorespiratory fitness, VO2 max and
improves exercise adaptations (Billat, 2001). Exercise intensities elevate ATP utilisation and restrict
metabolic processes, increasing the level of blood lactate. The restriction of metabolic processes
causes an increase in muscle fatigue. Therefore restoration of metabolic concentrations during
recovery periods from intense exercise is important for optimal exercise performance (Edge, Eynon,
McKenna, Goodman Bishop, 2013).
Alternating work and recovery periods during intense exercise also allow depleted ATP and PC
stores to be replenished, along with oxygen myoglobin stores. Long interval protocols allow alactic
energy systems to reuse energy via the glycolytic energy system, reducing the need to utilise energy.
However, as this energy system is involved blood lactate and lactic acid are increased resulting in
higher levels of muscle fatigue (Seiler, Joranson, Olesen Heltelid, 2013). In addition, for optimal
training stimulus high intensities for prolonged periods of time, and or long intervals cannot be
sustained without implementing recovery periods (RГёnnestad, Hansen, Vegge, TГёnnessen
SlettalГёkken, 2015). Short interval protocols allow the athlete to achieve

Erikson s stages of psychosocial development, as articulated by Erik Erikson, in collaboration with
Joan Erikson,[1] is a comprehensive psychoanalytic theory that identifies a series of eight stages, in
which a healthy developing individual should pass through from infancy to late adulthood. All
stages are present at birth but only begin to unfold according to both a natural scheme and one s
ecological and cultural upbringing. In each stage, the person confronts, and hopefully masters, new
challenges. Each stage builds upon the successful completion of earlier stages. The challenges of
stages not successfully completed may be expected to reappear as problems in the future.

Lawrence Kohlberg s stages of moral development constitute an adaptation of a psychological

  • 2. Students Should Be A Preset Learning Position Essay First, students should be in a preset learning position in which they have greater attention and openness to the explanations and instructions. After presenting the learning objective, the material available and expected products, the student participation is requested to do a review about concepts and procedures, in order to review the steps to solve equations with binomials and polynomials. At this point, it is important to consider the appropriate momentum (Saphier and Gower, 1997) to keep lessonin motion by overlapping to maximize time taking attendance while the review is done, and provisioning to get all the necessary materials to avoid breaks in the process. Students are organized into working groups (a maximum of four participants) for the purpose of activating cooperation, as well as the dialogue and discussion about solving equations. Once students are ready to start its work, the teacher presents a summary of the most important aspects to consider during the process of solving the equations, circling around the working groups, answering questions and reviewing the progress of the students. This could be more effective if the instruction is subdivided (Saphier and Gower, 1997) by socializing and requesting some answers for example, and also by asking how they got to step two or three before reaching the solution, so that the lesson is flexible and accessible for all students according to their level of ownership since (Darch Crichlow, 2003) teachers can ... • 4. Compensation Philosophy Paper Compensation Philosophy It most likely goes without saying that people who work for a living do so in order to get paid. Everyone has bills and living expenses that need to be paid; therefore, individuals exchange our time for a paycheck so these expenses can be addressed. However, since most people spend more time at work than they do with their families, there should to be a larger reason than pay that drives each of us to get up every morning to go to a job. It is the responsibility of the organization to provide its employees with that reason, and it comes in the form of a compensation philosophy. It is the intention of this paper to explain the need and rationale for an organization to have a compensation philosophy, propose a compensation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employee compensation may look quite a bit different that that of the executives, and certainly different from that of the stockholders /shareholders of the organization. The following is a proposal of how a compensation philosophy might look for a Fortune 500 Company: Compensation Philosophy It is the key compensation goal of this organization to offer compensation in such a manner as to encourage innovation, creativity, camaraderie, and shareholder value in order to attract and retain the highest quality employees available in the industry. Our compensation program is to be based upon the following five components: 1.As a Fortune 500 Company, our compensation is designed not only to attract and retain high performing corporate professionals, but also to ensure the package is designed with shareholder interests as the basis of its existence. 2.Our compensation package will be equal to or better than any compensation offering by our strongest competitor no matter which market we ... • 5. Essay on Servant Leader February 5, 2004 Greenleaf s The Servant Leader The Servant Leader discusses the importance of leaders who adopt a service oriented attitude in which they care for the needs of others before their own. A servant leader need not be an actual servant or have ever been a servant to become a servant leader. Rather, a servant leader is born with or adopts an others first disposition. Climbing through the ranks may help to create a servant leader, though it is not necessary. When leaders choose to see that the needs of their followers or their organizations are the highest priority they become servants. The importance of servant leadership should not be underestimated and it can be simplified and embodied in one timeless phrase: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a way, the servant leader reads his or her audience and adjusts accordingly. Under the heading Know the Unknowable В– Beyond Conscious Rationality is a discussion of creativity. Leadership . . . imposes some intellectual demands that are not measured by academic intelligence ratings (14). The success of a leader is not determined solely on their intellect. While education certainly contributes, it is not a guarantee. What leaders need to know goes beyond what can be taught in a classroom or read in a book. The servant leader relies on intuition creativity. One of my favorite quotations appears in this section: Others will depend on him to go out ahead and show the way because his judgment will be better than most. Leaders, therefore, must be more creative than most; and creativity is largely discovery, push into the uncharted and the unknown. Every once in a while a leader finds himself needing to think like a scientist, an artist, or a poet (15). Ultimately, I find that Greenleaf would say that a combination of intellect and instinct make the best leaders. This quotation also suggests that a leader must be versatile rather than an expert in one or two areas. He or she should be able to step into the shoes of others and find new perspectives. Greenleaf s discussion of Awareness and Perception offers some especially important life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Between Nazis And The German Jews Whether it is turning off one s alarm and getting off of one s bed, making breakfast, taking the bus to school, tying one s shoes, or sitting down in the same room for the same class at the same time, all of these are examples of rituals in day to day life. Different people have different interpretations of what the word ritualexactly means. A particular film, the likes of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas conveys many of these meanings; analyzing the characters in this story, more specifically the contrast between the Nazis and the German Jews, their personality can be sufficiently explained via Malory Nye s theory regarding symbolism in ritual, Emile Durkheim s idea of ritual as being a society based action, Harvey Whitehouse s thought about the relationship between ritual and memory, and Nye s perception of ritual as being a means of attaining power. Pulling these theories together, the message in this film becomes, as commonly stated: what comes around goes around, and as such, regardless of another person s belief, one should not discriminate against that person based on their beliefs and values. Throughout the film, it is the Jewish Germans who are dressed with the striped pyjamas in the movie of discussion. And with deliberate reason. As such, it is not surprising that Nye has developed a theory of ritual which he labels as being a symbolist approach to religionand ritual . The old Medicare system has become outdated and strained because of the volume of individuals that are currently receiving benefits within the program. Since the enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicarehas become the main source of delivering healthcare insurance for the elderly of the United States. In order to meet the current requirements of the ACA, Medicare must be reformed in order to provide the promised services for the individuals that are currently receiving benefits and for the future survival of the program. Medicare was established by the federal government to provide healthcare insurance initially for the elderly and included the disabled a few years after the program s inception. As of 2013, there were 52.3 million beneficiaries of Medicare, with an average of $11,910 spent on each individual for healthcare, with a total annual budget of $582.9 billion (NCPSSM, 2015). Medicare is funded through two trust fund accounts that are held by the U.S. Treasury: the Hospital Insurance (HI) and Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) Trust Funds (Medicare.gov, 2015). These trust funds are financed by payroll deductions, Social Security benefit taxes, premiums paid by Medicare beneficiaries, interest from investments, and funds furnished by Congress (Medicare.gov, 2015). • 9. Essay on Gender in Hawthorne’s Blithedale Romance Gender in Hawthorne s Blithedale Romance The Blithedale Romance, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a story of a twisted utopia. This perfect world is twisted in that the roles of gender have a traditional utopian representation, only with a more contemporary take. Of course, this is interesting because this book was written and published in the 19th century when such ideas were beginning to establish a form for the genre of writing. Hawthorne combines fantasy, philosophy, mystery, gothic, and even [what would be called today] science fiction. This novel illustrates the early break from even fresh ideas. The males within the novel always seemed to be placing their skills and knowledge above the women s own. Characters such as Coverdale and Hollingsworth placed their own thoughts above those of the female characters almost anytime that they could. The women, oddly, seemed to show diverse roles. Subtly, this is a representation of women as more complex than men in general. One of the characters, Zenobia, is probably the most least genderized character of the novel, that is, until the end. Throughout most of the novel, she is seen as very masculine (in comparison to traditional roles that is) yet very feminine at the same time. She has a mystical illusion about her yet seems very sensible in the ways of life. However, by the end of the novel, Hawthorne writes her character to be very manipulative and weak, for she dies of grief. On the other hand, the other female character, Priscilla, seems to hold the same mystical aura about her, yet she is the is the typical female character. She is feminine in her daily activities; she prances around with a constant smile and seems naive about the world. She is the victim of other s doings. The hierarchy of the sexes is blatantly obvious in that it favors the male and holds the male ideals perfectly. Nature was a main idea in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Cultural Icon Of The 20th Century Essay Amber Gentile 12 December 2016 Period 2 Albert Einstein The Cultural Icon from the 20th Century Albert Einstein once said I want to know God s thoughts, the rest are details . Einstein wanted an equation that would encapsulate all physical laws. To put the beauty and the power of the universe into a single equation was his life s goal. Although Einstein s name is now synonymous with genius, his professors would have never predicted him to be this successful as he would always cut class, and he could not get a single job after graduating. Einstein thought he was such loser that he wrote a letter to his family saying perhaps it would be better if he was never born. His father had to apply on behalf of Einstein for academic positions, but they all said there were no positions available. His father passed away thinking that Einstein was a total disgrace to the family. In 1902 Einstein moved to Switzerland, and began a career far from science. One of his friends got him a job to be a patent clerk in the Swiss patent office. He spent six days a week reviewing applications submitted by inventors to the Swiss government. He had to analyze the patents and strip them to their essence, which honed his skills as a physicist. Since it was not intellectually demanding it would give him ample time to contemplate the universe. Einstein s daydreams would change the way the universe was understood. Despite inheriting the throne at such a young age, Henry is able to prove himself a worthy king. His preceding reputation as an immature and childish prince contrasts with his current character driven by nobility, ultimately magnifying his strength as a leader. Referencing Henry s previous poor reputation, the Dauphin of Francemocks his youthful past to which Henry responds with a fierceness only exercised by a powerful king. Furthermore, he proves his nobility as a leader through his commitment to protecting both his land, as well as his people. Although Henry V recognizes the dangers of war, he goes on to demonstrate his integrity by choosing to engage in battle while simultaneously honoring the rules of war. Contrary to the Dauphin s belief, Henry does in fact understand the price Britain must pay if they start a war with France. When a plot against Englandis discovered and the traitor s are brought to sentencing, Henry admonishes them, listing all of the aftereffects their deed would have had on his kingdom. He knows that had the traitors not been caught, they would have sold [their] king to slaughter, his princes and his peers to servitude, his subjects to oppression and contempt, and his whole kingdom into desolation (2.2.178 82). Gilgamesh is bitter that only the gods can live forever and says as much when Enkidu warns him away from their fight with Humbaba. Life is short, the two warriors tell each other on their way to the deadly confrontation in the Cedar Forest, and the only thing that lasts is fame. But when Enkidu is cursed with an inglorious, painful death, their bravado rings hollow. Shamash, the sun god, consoles Enkidu by reminding him how rich his life has been, but though Enkidu finally resigns himself to his fate, Gilgamesh is terrified by the thought of his own. Mesopotamian theology offers a vision of an afterlife, but it gives scant comfort the dead spend their time being dead. If Gilgamesh s quest to the Cedar Forest was in spite of death, his second quest, to Utnapishtim, is for a way to escape it. Utnapishtim s account of the flood reveals how ludicrous such a goal is, since death is inextricably woven into the fabric of creation. But life is woven in as well, and even though humans die, humanity continues to live. The lesson that Gilgamesh brings back from his quest isn t ultimately about death it s about life. • 32. Erik Erikson s Developmental Theory Essay Firstname Lastname Instructor s Name Course Number Date Erik Erikson Developmental Theory Erik Erikson is a famous German born American psychologist, who developed his own psychoanalytical developmental theory. This developmental theory was aimed to identify the steps a developing human should to pass from infancy to adulthood. Erikson identified eight steps of the psychological development. The ideas of Erikson were heavily influenced by an Austrian psychologist Sigmund Freud, who also analyzed the human psychological development and identified psychosexual stages of development. However, Erikson did not emphasize the predominant role of sexual development in psychological development. He argued that the role of culture and society on a human was the most significant factor which through the evolution separated human psychological development from the development of animals. Erikson writes that there are conflicts which take place within ego and they are usually caused by external factors (society, culture, etc.) Thus, according to Erikson, a human successfully completes the stage when he resolves the main conflict within his ego. (McLeod) Erikson develops his ideas basing on the idea that biological and social nature coexist in each person and each psychological crisis at the end of each life stage reveals a conflict between social and biological forces of a human. Reconciliation of these two identities leads to the harmonious psychological development. On the other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. An Essay About My Cultural Identity What is my cultural identity? Personally, I don t think I am completely assured on what my cultural identity is, but I can do my best on explaining it. However, I won t get started on that yet, first I ll explain the occasion of me learning about my identity. At almost the beginning of the year, it was announced in our English class that we would be doing an essay on our cultural identities. When my teacher announced this I thought to myself, What in the world is a cultural identity, or even my cultural identity? In these months, we have gotten to learn the definition of culture, and what it means to us, individually., I believe that culture means a group of people that share the same customs, way of life, and beliefs. Also, over these last couple of months we have been reading texts all about people knowing and understanding their cultural identities, meanwhile I still didn t understand my own. All I know is that I was born on February 11, 2002, I like movies and music, and my mom is from Chile and my Dad is from Virginia. Now that didn t feel like enough for me to write on, but then I started thinking about all of the cultural differences that my parents have had raising me as a person, and how those have all combined to make me. In my short 15 years of life, the culture clashes have sometimes affected me on my thoughts and opinions, which I ll talk about later on. As well as how movies and music have affected my perspectives and opinions. Now there are a lot of aspects that make me as a person, but the one I want to develop on the most would be the fact that I have been raised by two almost completely different cultures, my dad being raised in a more conservative setting, while my mom was raised in a more carefree, but still careful setting, but they both lived in similar living conditions, not having a lot of money, but they found ways in their times to overcome those issues and cope with them. Which makes them similar on how they have raised me and my two siblings, but still quite different in other aspects. I found this part of me, with the combined cultures of my parents, to be very conflicting at times because when my dad would talk about different topics, my mother would just have a completely ... Black humor often deals with events that are not often associated with other forms of comedy, such as war, murder, insanity and death. The main reason that this form of comedy is so underappreciated is that it requires some thinking on the part of the audience and many people are not willing to do that. The types of humor that are popular today do not require much thinking and can be characterized as one liners. However, black humor has been used as an effective means of satire usually towards a tragic event. One of the biggest misconceptions about black humor is that it involves race. Even though this is such a great model of black comedy, Joseph Heller said that he was not aware that it would be funny when he wrote it (Catch 22, Computer). In the story, Catch 22 is a military rule that employs circular logic. An example of this is the rule that deals with avoiding combat missions: One may only be excused from flying bombing missions on the grounds of insanity; one must assert one s insanity to be excused on this basis; one who requests to be excused is presumably in fear for his life. This is taken to be proof of his sanity, and he is therefore obliged to continue flying missions; one who is truly insane presumably would not make the request. He therefore would continue flying missions, even though as an insane person he could of course be excused from them simply by asking. (Catch 22, Computer) The main themes in Heller s novel are paradox and contradiction. He used his novel as a way to show the absurdity of war and to protest World War II. Another author, Kurt Vonnegut wrote Slaughterhouse Five in 1969 as an analysis of the human condition from an uncommon perspective, using time travel as a plot device and the bombing of Dresden in World War II, which Vonnegut witnessed, as a starting point (Slaughter, wikipedia). The humor in this book comes from Vonnegut s downplay of human mortality. He uses the phrase so it goes whenever dying is mentioned. Much of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The Effect Of Interval Training On Muscle Fatigue Introduction Interval training is charactered by intensity, work duration and rest periods. It involves a short or long durations of high intensity exercise repeated with a specific amount of recovery. The training type improves athlete s performance along with their cardiorespiratory fitness, VO2 max and improves exercise adaptations (Billat, 2001). Exercise intensities elevate ATP utilisation and restrict metabolic processes, increasing the level of blood lactate. The restriction of metabolic processes causes an increase in muscle fatigue. Therefore restoration of metabolic concentrations during recovery periods from intense exercise is important for optimal exercise performance (Edge, Eynon, McKenna, Goodman Bishop, 2013). Alternating work and recovery periods during intense exercise also allow depleted ATP and PC stores to be replenished, along with oxygen myoglobin stores. Long interval protocols allow alactic energy systems to reuse energy via the glycolytic energy system, reducing the need to utilise energy. However, as this energy system is involved blood lactate and lactic acid are increased resulting in higher levels of muscle fatigue (Seiler, Joranson, Olesen Heltelid, 2013). In addition, for optimal training stimulus high intensities for prolonged periods of time, and or long intervals cannot be sustained without implementing recovery periods (RГёnnestad, Hansen, Vegge, TГёnnessen SlettalГёkken, 2015). Short interval protocols allow the athlete to achieve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Joan Erikson s Stages Of Psychosocial Development Erikson s stages of psychosocial development, as articulated by Erik Erikson, in collaboration with Joan Erikson,[1] is a comprehensive psychoanalytic theory that identifies a series of eight stages, in which a healthy developing individual should pass through from infancy to late adulthood. All stages are present at birth but only begin to unfold according to both a natural scheme and one s ecological and cultural upbringing. In each stage, the person confronts, and hopefully masters, new challenges. Each stage builds upon the successful completion of earlier stages. The challenges of stages not successfully completed may be expected to reappear as problems in the future. However, mastery of a stage is not required to advance to the next ... Child centered classrooms and open education are direct applications of Piaget s views.Despite its huge success, Piaget s theory has some limitations that Piaget recognized himself: for example, the theory supports sharp stages rather than continuous development (dГ©calage). Kohlberg began work on this topic while a psychology graduate student at the University of Chicago in 1958, and expanded upon the theory throughout his life. The theory holds that moral reasoning, the basis for ethical behavior, has six identifiable developmental stages, each more adequate at responding to moral dilemmas than its predecessor.Kohlberg followed the development of moral judgment far beyond the ages studied earlier by Piaget, who also claimed that logic and morality develop through constructive stages.Expanding on Piaget s work, Kohlberg determined that the process of moral development was principally concerned with justice, and ...
