San Bernardino Terrorist Attacks Case
Apple vs the Government agency (FBI) in the San Bernardino Terrorist attacks case. Ethics and
Morality are defined as the distinction of right and wrong. On the other hand morals are also
largely based on the social values of good and bad. However, people tend to define them as the
standards and customs that guide the way of life towards good. In most cases of ethics and
morality they are referring to acts of both good and bad deeds. Nonetheless, in a recent case with
the FBI vs. the Government against Apple Inc. Company arose one of the key moral issues in the
business world. Apple refused to offer a backdoor to one of the iPhones considered to be of the
terrorists. The ethical issue involved two genuine values; privacyand security.... Show more content

Apple mentioned also in their letter to their customers that they were against terrorism. They
continued to state that as a company they did everything in their power to help the FBI in
investigating this case and catch these criminals. However, Apple did not want to risk its
customer s privacy because it was found that most apple product users store data such as private
conversations, photos, music, notes, calendars and contacts, financial information and health
data in their devices. Since Apple operates their company based on certain values one of them
being safeguarding their customer s data, this prompted decision to deny the FBI the software
or backdoor that would ve risked the privacy of millions of iPhone users. The FBI however is
willing to do just about anything to solve a case, one that especially involves serious criminals
investigates. Keeping this in mind you can see why the FBI refused to think morally in favor of
Apple and how this backdoor software would ve tarnished the reputation and decreased business
for this company. However it is concluded both of these parties did what was ethically right for
their independent situations, but as you can see what is ethically right for one situation is not
necessarily right for another

Is Hamlet Sane Or Insane
Shakespeare s tragic hero, Hamlet, and his sanity can be argued. Many parts of the play shows that
he may be sane, or insane. There are indications from Hamlet throughout the play of his mind s well
being including many quotes that support both sides. Hamlet has mood swings and his mood
changes many times throughout the play. Hamletseems to act mad when he found out about his
father s death by saying weird things that make him sound mad. It seems as if there are two
different Hamlets throughout the play, one that is a sensitive prince and then the insane Hamlet
who from an outburst of passion and rage stabs and kills Polonius without feeling any remorse.
After killing Polonius he doesn t tell anyone where the body is. Instead he assumes that everyone
just thinks that he s gone mad.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

disappearing sanity when he tells Laertes that he killed Polonius as an act of rage. Hamlet has

As Any Usual Day, I Went To Bed Early That Night So I Can
As any usual day, I went to bed early that night so I can wake up comfortably and go to university
but this time it was different. At 7am, the alarm rang, everything was normal, but something has
changed, my life. I jumped out of bed and found myself into the scariest and darkest place that I
have seen in my entire life. I turned around and found on the floor familiar heads cut out of the
bodies. Days had passed, and a week later, I saw the same people that I had seen that night. This
time they were gone. Recently, after experiences, I discovered that I have sixth sense. There are

Moreover, he believes that in terms of the physiological nature or location of this organ, only that it
is apparently hidden somewhere in the cortex...
But it is not an easy job to discover the exact place of the cognitive sense organ in the cortex which
is actually a jungle of about ten thousand million nerve cells.
The sixth sense is demonstrated in all the progression and inventions of human civilizations.
Sometimes, the inventions springs suddenly but after a long trials and sufferings; so that the
inventor attains his goal at once as if a sudden inspiration had illuminated his researches. The poets
called this inspiration an intuition and the sophists regarded it a heavenly discovery and
unidentified suggestion. Laurent, a French philosopher said that the inventor is an intuitive poet
and Claude Bernard had also revealed this special sense and this intuitive discovery in the creative
scientific achievements. The characteristics of memories and thoughts serve as a stimulus for the
cognitive sense organ which helped humans to exploit their abilities throughout ages. To invent
tools and to develop the use of language in order to ease their life and to cope with the variable
circumstances. (Disney, 1954, p.327 329) Sixth sense includes various human qualities such as

Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels
Even in today s society, jokes about the repercussions of educating women find their way into the
popular culture, though they are generally very tongue in cheek. For example, in Pitch Perfect 2, a
recent film, a comedic relief, narrating character says of the girls acapella performance, This is
what happens when you send girls to college (Pitch Perfect 2). The character implies that when girls
are given educationand freedom, they will default to partaking in foolish behavior. This was a
common idea in the eighteenth century as people legitimately denied women schooling based on
such a concept. In the last paragraph on page 55 of Gulliver s Travels (1726), Swift comments on
the education and roles of women in Lilliputian society using specific word choice and
juxtaposition of male and female schooling. With this, he asserts that, while the Lilliputians
regarded women with similar gender based expectations as the English, they did offer women some
form of equality through the basis of education. This, of course, contrasts the treatment of women in
European society which feared that female education would empower women to leave behind their
traditional roles. Through his addressal of the fact that women can be educated and still succeed as
mothers and wives, Swift presents that society could benefit from teaching girls basic information
while still keeping them in their customary places.
For instance, he comments that Chambermaids practiced common Follies (Swift 55).

Causes Of Post-Polio Syndrome
Post Polio syndrome is a musculoskeletal problem which occurs after an individual has had polio
(LaRocco, 2011). There are about 440, 00 people that survived polio (LaRocco, 2011). It is
estimated that between 15% and 80% of people with polio will have post polio syndrome. Post
polio syndrome generally occurs 15 years after the polio virus has subsided (LaRocco, 2011). The
symptoms are muscleweakness, atrophy, pain, fatigue, and cold sensitivity. Fatigue can impair
cognition as well as other symptoms (Grafman et al., 1995). The symptoms can come on slowly
or quickly. Medications haven t been proven to work well in treating the muscle symptoms, but
rehabilitation may help (LaRocco, 2011). Pain and the psychiatric problems are important to
control. Medication such as aspirin, hot pads and cold pads can help alleviate pain. Post Polio
syndrome is not usually life threatening (LaRocco, 2011). The brainstructures affected in post polio
syndrome are those involved in motor learning and control (Grafman et al., 1995). These include
structures such as the cerebellum, cerebral cortex, basal ganglia, and globus pallidus. There can
also be gray matter lesions in the reticular formation or white matter scarring of the corticospinal
tract (Grafman et al., 1995). An MRI is important to examine the brain structures... Show more

This means the individual has frequent muscular contractions during sleep (Araujo et al., 2010).
This can cause insomnia or tiredness during the day. Individuals with post polio syndrome are
generally pretty tough, and it takes a lot for them to accept modifications for activities. Exercise is
important for those with post polio syndrome (Halbritter, 2001). It can be difficult for individuals
with post polio syndrome to participate in work or school, due to the pain and fatigue (Halbritter,
2001). Driving may have to be adjusted, depending on the affected area (Halbritter,

Research Paper On IMS Design
IMS Design Approach The suggested frame of IMS design uses the basic rule of object methods
in which modeling of information and processes is concurrent. It is also assumed that the design
process is based on a single conceptual category of an object . The frame works on some assutions
made in the methodology of design and implementation of open systems for computer integrated
enterprises CIMOSA (Open Systems Architecture for CIM). CIMOSA was developed by AMICE
(European Computer Integrated Manufacturing Architecture) Syndicate within European Union
ESPRIT research projects in the years 1986 1996 [CIMOSA Association, 1996], [Ladet, Vernadat,
1995]. CIMOSA introduced an integrated enterprise modeling methodology based on processes. In
CIMOSA architecture an enterprise is defined as a set of domains consisting of a set of
organizational processes realizing elementary objectives of the enterprise activity. In the approach
presented an assumption was made that the domain may be defined for one or several spheres of
the enterprise activity, implementing one or several management functions, while the enterprise
organizational processes are linked to the market surroundings. Based on the problem analysis

Management By Objectives Of MBO
*What is Management by Objectives (MBO)?
Management by Objectives (MBO) was first defined by Peter Drucker (a management guru) in
1954 in the book The Practice of Management. In the 90s, Peter Drucker by himself identified the
importance of this organization management system, when he wrote: It s just another tool. It is not
the great cure for management inefficiency... Management by Objectives works if you know the
objectives, 90% of the time you don t.
Management by Objectives (MBO) is a management system that allows managers to increase the
performance for organization by focusing on goals that need to be achieved and by attaining the
best imaginable outcomes from available resources.
Management by Objectives (MBO) aims to develop organizational performance and to line up
goals and secondary objectives through the organization. Employees do strong effort to recognize

How Does The Coffee Trade Affect The Economy
Coffee is certainly not a drink. It is a global commodity. The coffee industry hires many people
around the world for its growing, processing, and trading. The coffee trade is vital in economies
in less developed countries and in more developed countries. Every single way the coffee trade
works in is vital to economies; from farmers, to consumers. Therefore many people attempt to make
the coffeetradefairer to its people. From these people, many of their attempts do not suffice. The
global coffee trade affects everyone in it and even outside of it. The coffee trade created jobs for
people to farm coffee. These coffee farmers now have jobs that add on to the economy. This helps
people especially in less developed countries and their economies. These farmers are not being paid

These roasters then roast the coffee beans and then bring them to the consumers. They are being
paid much more than what farmers are being paid. Farmers are the reason why the rest of the
trade makes so much money. They are being so underpaid that people have to make organizations
to make sure that farmers are paid better than they were. This is to make sure that farmers have
money in their economies and are able to school their children. Organizations such as FairTrade
make sure that farmers get paid more money than they used to. This is so they could afford
drinking water, education, food, and such. This is so they can afford to just live better. Although
this seems like the perfect plan, it does also fail sometimes. Organizations such as FairTrade cannot
get everyone to buy into it. Starbucks only uses FairTrade espresso beans for their espresso coffee.
FairTrade coffee is more expensive since more money is put into the farmer s hands. However,
there have been claims that the farmers are not actually being paid as

Rational And Rational Choice Theory
Rational choice theory posits that any individual makes behavioral choices because they logically
consider any potentially criminal situation, weigh the possible benefits versus the possible costs,
and make a decision to act based on whether or not the benefits outweigh the risks. Rational
choice theory differs from other philosophies in that it denies the existence of any kinds of action
other than the purely rational and calculative. All social action, it is argued, can be seen as
rationally motivated, as instrumental action, however much it may appear to be irrational or non
rational (Scott, 2000). Making rational choices means being motivated by personal wants, goals,
and needs. It is not possible for all wants and needs to be met or achieved; therefore, choices are
made in order to bring the greatest satisfaction and happiness to the individual. Individual does not
always reference one human being; rational choice theoryis a main idea in economics, sociology,
and many other social sciences. An individual with regard to the theory can be a corporation, group,
or other defined entity that engages in decision making. The limitations of this theory have led
researchers to develop many sub theories. One sub theory of rational choice is routine activity
theory, which posits that crimeis not an aberration of human society, but merely a common facet of
culture that only requires opportunity. First developed and published by Marcus Felson and
Lawrence E. Cohen in 1979,

US TRADE AND ECONOMY
Then and Now
Oshin Nandal

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
As we know US went from being a net exporter to a net importer in a short span of time.
Currently US economy is strong but with lots of debt. These changes in trade gap and debt were
caused basically due to other developing nations coming up with low cost manufacturing system
and thus US ended importing products from other countries. Also many US manufacturers
moved their factories abroad due to cheap labor and other services. Some companies are
considering reshoring and bringing at least some part of the process back to US as labor cost and
other services are rising in other countries. This paper gives a detailed account of all the factors ...

This recovery of the European and Japanese economies, and the advancement of industrial limit in
the developing countries unavoidably diminished the share that United States had in world exports
and output. By the 1970s, exchange examples reflecting fundamental similar point of interest had
been restored, and the United States was at the end of the day a merchant of buyer products. The
United States global speculation position soon after World War II was very small.
United States resources in 1950 totaled $17.5 billion and investment done outside was $8 billion.
During this time US was open to all trade options, but had a small part as an owner in
international assets. The resources and other factors have been growing since 1950 at a constant
rate of about 10% an year. This served as an internationalization of the investments during the
period, which United States lost its powerful position in world trade market. US was making
surpluses in mid 1960 s in areas such as trade capital stock, horticulture and chemicals, and was
falling behind in buyer things and nonagricultural mechanical supplies and materials. All
automobile products were surplus at first, but then changed to deficit in 1968 in trade market.

Jon Stewart and News Distortion
Network News stations like Fox and MSNBC have distorted news information so much so that
viewers now turn to comedy central to keep current with the news. Turning to comedians for
news is not a horrible idea as long as viewers understand that comedians must also distort news in
order to entertain. Now that is not to say that comedians give out fake news; a comedian must
first understand the whole of the topic before running it through a comedic process, in which
they then begin distorting the information to attain laughter. Jon Stewart has an enormous
impact in the media. Many young viewers turn to Stewart for his take on the news. According to
Cox of Wonkette.com in an article by Kurtz Howard, The Campaign of a Comedian; Jon Stewart
s Fake Journalism Enjoys Real Political Impact, says It s not that young people don t like
politics. The way politics is talked about in the media is alienating. They re seeing Jon Stewart
as a kind of hero who will lead us out of the darkness. Stewart allows his viewers to keep current
with the news by giving sound bites, which they then could verify or explore. While many news
reporters believe Stewart to be highly controversial, the majority of young adults will watch Jon
Stewart s comedic take on the news because it is unbiased and attempts to only entertain. In an

Amphitryon Dramatic Structure
To understand Dramatic Structure. The scaffolding on which playwright plots a tale to frame or
shape the action Mira Fellner, THINK theatre (Boston: Pearson, 2013), 51. While reading a play,
knowledge is applied in a critical perspective. Our mind tries to classify it in a coherent form into
one of the types of dramatic structures that have been studied by us. It should be possible now
to differentiate a climactic structure from a serial, episodic or circular one. Our goal is to
clarify the ideas presented in a play. For this, it is imperative to acknowledge that each play has
its own structure. Using the tools presented to us on Think theater we move on now from the
theory to the practice. We will be thoroughly working on the structural analysis of Amphitryon .
A three act play, by Moliere. On the very start we meet the main characters, first is Amphitryon
as the general of the Thebans. Next, we have Sosia , Amphitryon s manservant. We also meet
Jupiter also known as Jove , under the guise of Amphitryon . Finally, there is Mercury , who is
Jupiter s accomplice in seducing ALCMENA , Amphitryon s wife. The story begins after
Amphitryon has made his way to the war, a fact on which Jove will take advantage. Then,

The American issue of immigration reform concerns the changing of the immigration policies in
order to improve them and remove their flaws. The first article highlighted the author s reasons of

reforms are necessary. Her article consisted of ten possible arguments for immigrationreforms. The
first reason claimed that the reforms would reunite families that were separated from the original

I perceive that immigration reforms have both pros and cons, and that I cannot stand by one
side. I agree with Pauline Harvey s article in that families should not be separated and should be
allowed to remain together. However, Jarod Pitts, from Esther Yu Hsi Lee s article, makes a good
point in stating that it is the parents faults for bringing their families over illegally, knowing that
they would be deported back and disconnected from their children. I do not agree with the
statements in Lee s arguments that declare the immigrants are equivalent to criminals or that they
take away the rights of the American residents. As George Eliot once quoted in his novel, The
Mill on the Floss, Don t judge a book by its cover. As Americans deeply opposed to immigration
reforms, they should not automatically assume that immigrants are immoral individuals. Some may
be dealing with corrupt governments and inequality which is why they immigrated here in the first
place, to find freedom. Also, I don t comprehend how they take away the rights of Americans.
Alternatively, I concur with Lee s evidence that it is crazy for president Obama to be providing
benefits for the illegal immigrants when American families are struggling to afford college tuitions.
With this in mind, I furthermore disagree with Harvey s report that it is proper for the

Analysis Of The Book The First P.f
History Even though the first P.F. Chang s opened in 1993, the story really began way back in
the 1960s. It started with a lady named Cecilia Chiang running a flourishing and wildly
successful Chinese restaurant named The Mandarin. In 1974, she opened a second location in
posh Beverly Hills, feeding celebrities the likes of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The celebration
we see in the media of celebrity chefs today really started with Cecelia Chang. She was indeed a
pioneer. That very same year, Cecilia returned to China for an extended trip. Her son, Philip, fresh
out of art school, struggled finding work as an artist. He quickly stepped in to run the restaurant. At
that time a restaurateur called Paul Fleming, based in Arizona, was running a successful restaurant
concept, spending time at his regular Chinese place in Los Angeles called Mandarette. Fleming
broke with the traditional Chinese restaurant format, and with his collaborator, Chef Philip Chiang,
devised a selectively limited menu that featured far fewer dishes than the menus of typical, full
service, Chinese restaurants. Incorporating an American steak house dining style and a formidable
selection of wines and cheeses, P.F. Chang s offers such items not offered in traditional Chinese
restaurants such as espresso and cappuccino. Despite displaying highly stylish dГ©cor in the
tradition of Ming and Tang Dynasties with many hand painted murals, P.F. Chang China Bistros are

The Use of Language in A Fable for Tomorrow by Rachel Carson
The Use of Language in A Fable for Tomorrow by Rachel Carson
The extracts give the impression of stark contrast, even contradictions, from the very beginning. The
author chooses to use the word fable in the title, which, traditionally, is something fictional and also
usually refers to the past and yet this is coupled with
tomorrow . This indicates that the author is looking to show the reader that, although the situation
she refers to in the second extract may not be factual in its entirety, it may not be long before it is.
Carson uses graphical descriptions to convey the idea of harmony and peacefulness in the first
paragraph white clouds of bloom drifted above the green fields . The author uses all of the senses to

Carson s tone changes dramatically from the first sentence of the second extract. The words strange
blight invoke a sense of fear and foreboding. The bleakness of the second extract is even starker in
comparison to the light and sensory pleasing first. The author invokes a feeling of inhumanness
with phrases such as evil spell and
mysterious maladies . Carson gives the impression that the deaths and sickness is widespread when
she refers to flocks of chicken and
much illness . She also gives us information that indicates that the situation has affected the whole
town, both animal and human, adult and child. This only adds to the darkness and desolation of the
second extract. When Carson refers to children playing then dying she gives us the impression of
innocence dying with them. The author also strengthens the impression of unnaturalness with her
reference to the birds no longer being able to fly. This sounds crueller when in the first extract
Carson describes the birds as countless .
In the final paragraph the author explains the purpose of the extracts and why she wrote them.
She makes clear that although she is not aware of any one town experiencing the full list of
horrors she described, it is a reasonable assumption that it will happen in the near future if nothing
is done to prevent it. Carson leaves the reader in no doubt as to the validity of her

Universal Health Care System Of Universal Healthcare
Individuals who reside in countries practicing a system of universal health care have access to the
health services they require, which, consequently, leads to overall healthier populations. Such
health services include, amongst other things, prevention promotion, treatment, rehabilitation and
palliative care.(who.org) These services are provided without the risk of monetary adversity or
destitution for those who use them. Ease of access to health facilities and care in turn leads to
healthier people. Universal health caresystems bring the entire populace into contact with good
quality services and health professionals, in addition to medicines and technologies that aid in the
diagnosis and treatment of medical problems. In order to meet the urgent well being needs of the
population, such systems employ a people centered combined care approach to treatment that
incorporates:
Information programs which support healthy lifestyles and avoidance of sickness
early detection of chronic conditions
capability to treat diseases
assistance for patients in convalescence and
provision, where needed, of sympathetic palliative care (who.org)
The ambition of universal health is always to deliver a growing number of health services over time
and to guarantee that populations have opportunities to participate in strategic preventive health
programs. In this way, the goal of countries that provide universal health care is to continually work
and strive to maintain healthier

The Practicalities Of Going Online
Section One: Introduction
The internet offers the potential to achieve a global market success for any business. Businesses
that go online increase their opportunities to reach their target market and is cost effective when
compared with other forms of marketing. It creates opportunities, benefits and challenges for a
business but in the long run is worth it for the added publicity and hopefully profits. Going online
has benefited many organisations including TescoPLC. I will be using Tesco as my example of the
benefits, opportunities and challenges for a business by using the internet. Tesco has operated on
the Internet since 1994 and started an online shopping service named Tesco Direct in 1997 which ...

The customers are able to view images of all the products available. This will benefit Tesco as the
images encourage people to buy if they like what they see. If the images were not shown then this
could lose sales from customers that are unsure of what they wish to purchase. This is also an
opportunity for the customers to find the preferred item or new ones that look like an improvement
to their usual brand.
Originally Tesco used to be only in store, by expanding their services online they have created many
benefits and opportunities that have changed the way they sell and do business. They are able to
communicate easier with their customers, provide an excellent service to their customers and
further promote the business with efficiency.
Section Three: Task Two (P5)
Efficient
Achieving maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort or expense.
п‚ѕThe internet helps Tesco to be efficient as they can collect orders in advance and prepare for
them. They are able to continue business in store and serve others at home. With a couple of

Metallic Copper Lab
Introduction:
Metallic copper and its compounds have played an important role in history, from ancient
civilizations to today s economy. It also has biological and environmental significance. In this
experiment, we explored copper in its metallic and ionic forms and examined the reactions which
form metallic copper and copper compounds as well as calculated percentage yield of final metallic
copper product.
Materials and Methods:
In this experiment, 5 different chemical reactions took place before the final percentage yield of
metallic copper was calculated. For the first reaction, a fume hood made up of a funnel and some
rubber tubing attached to a tap was set up above a 50 ml beaker. Next, 0.2574 g of copper turnings
were measured out and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The solution went from being black and cloudy to green and transparent, indicating that there is no
longer a precipitate in the solution.
In the fifth chemical reaction copper sulfate reacted with zinc resulting in this equation:
CuSOв‚„(aq) + Zn(s) в†’ Cu(s) + ZnSOв‚„(aq)
This is a single displacement, redox reaction as zinc replaces the copper cation in copper sulfate
resulting in metallic copper solid and zinc sulfate. This is evident from the observations as
initially a black solid formed in the solution but as the hydrochloric acid was added and it reacted
away the excess zinc a reddish brown solid formed, which is copper, indicating that zinc displaced
the copper cation. It is a redox reaction as copper is reduced as its oxidation number decreases from
+2 to 0 and zinc is oxidized as its oxidation number increases from 0 to

Why I Own Google Inc. Stocks
It s all about technology stocks these days and Google is considered a long term buy. In July for
example, Google gave its investors a 20% increment beating financial analysts expectations in its
quarterly earnings report bringing it to up to a whopping 32% year to date. The stock also
recorded earnings per share of $6.99, beating Wall Street estimates of $6.70.
In considering the Google stock, I looked at its quality, growth potential, valuation and strong
financial performance. (Sanders, 2015)

The online advertising industry made an estimated $49.45 billion in revenue in 2014 and this
number is projected to grow jump to $83.89 billion by 2019. Also, spending on Digital
advertisements has been estimated to rise from $145 billion in 2014 to $253 billion by 2018. Even
with competition from other small companies, Google is most likely to continue as one of the main
players in this thriving online advertising industry in the years ahead. (Cardenal, 2014)
3.Valuation: A high stock price can make even the best companies bad investments but in the
case of Google, this is hardly the case. In an October 2015 article, Jack Delaney wrote about Google
s 16% second quarter earnings which added about $70 billion dollars to shareholder value which
is a record on Wall Street and one that had been forecasted for 2016. (Delaney, 2015)
This has helped the company in its leadership status especially in the online advertising industry. It
has also been able to show its profitable business model and growth potential. (Cardenal)
4.Strong Financial Performance: Google continues to show consistently strong financial
performance. It reported a $66,001 million revenue which grew at a compound annual growth rate
(CAGR) of 17.6% between 2010 and 2014 and an annual growth of 18.9% in 2013. This was
attributed to the increase in advertising revenues from its various websites and other revenues. Its

Running Head: QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH CRITIQUE2 Introduction
A research critique is conducted for an article titled the Accuracy of Non contact Infrared
Thermometry versus Rectal Thermometry in Young Children Evaluated in the Emergency
Department for Fever. This research article is an empirical study that investigates the reliability and
accuracy of measuring pediatric body temperature using an infrared thermometer. An infrared
thermometer is based on the scientific observation that heat is emitted from warm bodies. An
infrared thermometer is placed on a patient s forehead and the body temperature is determined.
On the other hand, the rectal thermometer is placed in the rectum of a pediatric patient which can
be time consuming and uncomfortable. The researchers of this study used the two types of
thermometers to measure the body temperature of each patient simultaneously.Statistical analysis

Why Is Resilience Important
Dear, Parents In this unit I have learnt about the importance of Resilience. I believe the most
important aspects of resiliency are appreciation, optimism, and coping with stress. To be
resilient is to bounce back in the face of adversity, depression, tragedy, and other sources of
stress. It s a cycle that many people get stuck in until they pick themselves back up. You
experience, you feel, you fail, you hurt, and you fall. But, you keep on going anyways. Mandy
Oaklander conveys that humans tend to stress over everything. Even if it s a waitress messing
up your order, or getting a C on a project (Guilty), and the list goes on and on. I often deal with
stress at least once every month and I don t even realize it . This is where Mandy... Show more

The Duchess Of Malfi And The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Revolutionary Heroines of 1623 and 2005: The Duchess of Malfi and Lisbeth Salander
John Webster s play The Duchess of Malfi observes Renaissance beliefs about women, as well as
the treatment of women, through the corrupt characters of Ferdinand and The Cardinal. As was

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is set in twenty first century Sweden, but it shares the central
theme of men wanting to possess and control women. However, in both works the female leads, The
Duchess and Lisbeth Salander, are the heroines, as they possess the stereotypically masculine
qualities that their male competitors and oppressors seem to lack. Throughout Webster s play and
Larsson s novel, the women display solidarity, bravery, and assertiveness. Salander and the

Suicide Impact On Society
A common misconception faced by society is that a crime can be truly victimless. It is true that
not all crimes are intended to harm other individuals or oneself, however, this is an after effect that
is directly caused by the breaking of a law. What are commonly seen as victimless crimes pertaining
to consenting adults performing illegal actions can cause harm. Such crimes that are considered to
be victimless include: suicide, consensual fights, and drug use. Not only are these crimes seen as
controversial topics in the public eye, but, they show the direct unintentional physical and mental
harm that is placed on society.
Impact on Society of Suicide Suicide is a controversial topic in today s society, as some
individuals believe it causes no effect on other individuals. This statement, however, is false
because not only will it affect your family but it effects your colleagues, friends, and even old
classmates. One of the hardest things that a community can face is the loss of a young person s
life, as it effects everyone in the community. This death can lead to multiple community members
feeling guilty, not only for not having prevented the suicide, but also due to distress, anger, and
confusion. More specifically, in regards to family members, it can lead to mental illnesses such as
depression, anxiety, divorce, and are at higher risk to commit suicide themselves (Tracy, 2016, para.

main factors that increase economic growth are an increase in aggregate demand and aggregate

Moreover, these skilled people may not have a high school diploma, however, getting a

local economy may improve over time. In other words, the skilled workers will have more
discretionary money to spend in other local businesses.
Supplies to make clothing is abundantly available in or near the RGV. Apparel supplies may be
sourced from downtown fabric stores in McAllen or Mexico. Regarding infrastructure,
surprisingly, it is a lot less costly to start a business in the RGV than in any other city. The Valley
is economically expanding and buying a location for a boutique now will be a great investment for
the future. Personally, I believe the Rio Grande Valley may become a destination place for tourist
like San Antonio or Austin.
Therefore, the high demand stylish and quality produced clothing proves that a boutique that sells
eco friendly and ethically produced clothing may succeed in the RGV. The clothing boutique that
sells quality clothing is an example of monopolistic competition. Being in the monopolistic
competition market means that the boutique offer a differentiated product, in this case being eco
friendly and ethically produced clothing, and competition is high.
As a new business, the clothing boutique should start out small and slowly grow over time. A

In Defense of Free Will
In this paper I will present an argument against free will and then I will defend a response to that
argument. Free will is defined as having the ability to make our own choices. Some will argue
that all of our decisions have already been dictated by our desires therefore we never actually
truly make our own choices. The purpose of this paper is to defend the argument that we have
free will by attacking the premise that states we have no control over what we desire. I will
defeat this premise by showing how one does have control over his/her desires through the idea
of self control. I will then defend my argument against likely rebuttals that state that there is still
no way to control our desires proving that we do have free will. 1. The Argument Against Free
Will The argument against free will states that; what you do is always determined by what you
have the strongest desire to do, but you have no control over what you desire. If what you do is
always determined by something that you have no control over then you can never actually act
freely. It follows from what has been said that one does not have free will. The first statement
seems to not make a whole lot of sense right off the bat. You would think that if someone wants to
do something but does not do it then they are not choosing their greatest desire. How does your
brain tell you what you want? Do you have any control over what your brain says you want?

Almost everyone at some point in their life has experienced what appears to be love whether it
be towards a parent, family member, or significant other. Just as fate is a popular concept in our
readings, love can also be seen in nearly any story. One story in particular that features this
concept is the Iliad by Homer. The story revolves around a prince from Troy stealing the wife of
a Greek king who he appears to love. This love drives the two nations to go to war with the
warrior Achilles eventually killing Hector in the end with a blow to the gullet offered swift and
certain death (p. 266). Another story in which love is a prominent aspect is Oedipus the King in
which the love of his wife as well as the shame brought by his wife being his mother leads him to
gouge out his own eyes. The notion of injuring oneself out of love is a concept that also can be
seen in many works of literature and popular culture as well with Oedipus s action being a prime
example. The concept of love is one that can link people with nothing else in common and provide
a means for anyone to find mutual ground with a story. Although the story of Oedipus and Hector
are vastly different in overall plot, the concept of love is important in that it links them

This is shown in Exhibit 2 of the case study. The flat feel of communication in the organization
through the use of IT, as well as the use of a more traditional hierarchal organization chart for the
MIS department, perfectly follow the networked structure concept of technological leveling.
Networked organizations are known for promoting flexible, adaptive and creative business
environments. However, a company must be able to maintain operational process control. Randy
Fields constantly encouraged his employees at all levels to be creative in new technology
innovation. For example, an accounts payable clerk introduced the idea of automating recurring
invoices, which led to the development of a new automated system that was used by all of the
stores. Randy welcomed these types of system innovations. He wanted to put as much intelligence
and decision making controls into the store computers as possible.
Networked organizational structures replace inflexible hierarchal controls with controls based on
IS. And the IS in networked structures allow data to be collected and stored instantly in
centralized data warehouses, which enables data analysis for quick and accurate management
decisions. Mrs. Fields had a single corporate database that tracked sales in each store and produced
reports to be reviewed on a daily basis proving to align with yet another networked structure
characteristic. Randy

him to branch away from traditional ukiyo e subjects to the daily Japanese life and landscapes.
In 1798, Hokusai passed on his name to his pupil and set out as an independent artist with the

The Jesuits strict guidelines gave D.W. the necessary restraints to control his secular urges. The

Social Work And The British Welfare Society
With reference to changes in government policy and ideologies of welfare, debate the significance
of the shift from the Victorian Mad pauper to the 21st century Mental health service User and its
impact on social work practice and values.
Since the 19th Century, professional social work and state allocation of resources has gone
through endless evolutions and revolutions, from deciding on the future of the Victorian s mad
paupers , those insane, idle, disabled or recipients of poor relief, (Thane, 1996), to supporting the
service users of today to take charge of their own care. This essay will explore this evolution of
social work and the British welfare society, paying particular attention to the theories of Anti
discriminatory Practice (ADP) and Anti oppressive Practice (AOP), two fundamental aspects of
modern day social work; illustrated by the example of this shift in societal perceptions and treatment
of the mad poor to the mental health service user and consider throughout whether social work has
maintained, or lost its way from, its grounding philanthropic values.
The origins of the social work as a profession is typically accredited to the Victorian 19th Century
as a means of helping the those in need, whilst simultaneously easing the anxiety of social
disorder at that time (Payne, 2005b); however, the practice of social work can be seen much earlier
on. If social work is the compassionate response to an individual or group s need, crisis or problem

How Did Technological Advancement Continue To Change The...
Technological innovations continue to change the workplace. The Industrialization changed
thousands of jobs as they became automated and controlled. What once was an enjoyable job
became boring and unskillful. Technological advancements required limited skills to complete a
task, leaving workers brutally bored with leisure time. However, Csikszentmihalyi explained
earlier that flow is only reached when a certain level of skill and challenge is present. As
technological innovations made their way into the workplace, workers became disrupted from
flow because their tasks did not involve skill. Unfortunately, the skill level lessened as challenges
continued to increase forcing workers to feel anxiety on the job. The job of an assembly line worker

Analysis Of The Republic By Plato
Hereafter, one finds themselves entering into the territory of the second metaphor enumerated by
Plato in The Republic. The Image of the Line, once more is intended to give sustenance to the
analyzation of goodness and is a direct relation to The Simile of the Sun. In this metaphor,
Socrates describes a line which is to be unequally divided into four segments. The segments
labeled A and B are to apportion for likenesses, or the visible realm. This, according to Plato, is a
dangerous realm made for misconceptions and incompleteness. From this realm one can only
witness the shadows and illusions of the material world which serve merely to conceive unreality.
Here is where appearances reside and here is what our senses are able to perceive.... Show more

It is known that goodness exists in segment D and that an understanding of goodness is required to
transcend into truth, but Socrates does not describe the progressions involved.
In succession, arrives the subsequent and conclusive metaphor Plato generates as an armory for
his discussion on goodness. This metaphor is referred to as The Allegory of the Cave and works to
propagate a vivid vision of life according to the value of goodness, knowledge, and truth. Plato has
one imagine an existence of limitation. Accordingly forcing one to view the methods of limitation
prominent in their current circumstances and the influence of philosophy on the human condition as
a whole. Socrates establishes this likeness through the statement, They re no different from us... do
you think they d see anything of themselves and one another except the shadows cast by the fire
on to the cave wall directly opposite them? With this rhetorical technique one must put their own
status adjacent to one of a person who is bound in a cave of darkness and lead to believe this is
the totality of life. Nevertheless, as the allegory unfolds, an individual is provided the opportunity
to experience light and expand their horizons multifold. At first the individual cannot comprehend
the expansion and explosion of light, but then as reality dawns a sense of confusion ensues for

Analysis Of Christopher Nolan s A Certain Tendency In...
Auteur Christopher Nolan
In the film industry, directors have control over the entire production process and shape the film to
fit their vision (Creativeskillset.org, 2015). In 1954, François Truffaut took this notion, applying it
one step further, in his essay entitled A Certain Tendency in French Cinema , by saying that
directors have complete creative control over the film s production and that the director is the sole
creator. (Nelmes, 2012). Developing this newfound term, auteur theory, coming from the French
word author , François Truffaut came to this conclusion after studying the filmography of famous
directors including the works of Alfred Hitchcock and Jean Renoir (Acu.edu.au, 2011). François
Truffaut noticed that many elements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A major driving force and motivation for the main character is the loss of a wife or loved one, as
is the case with Memento and a broad majority of his films (IMDb.com, 2015). Nolan typically
uses a male lead who is struggling to come to terms with an identity issue whilst showing the story
with restricted narration and multiple interweaving plotlines that all link together at the conclusion
of the film. The first scene and shot in the majority of Nolan s films are out of chronological order,
oftentimes not put into context until the very end of the film (Wickman, 2014). The concept of a
nonlinear storyline is seen in all of his films apart from Following. Utilising constant flashback and
flash forward sequences disorientates the audience, further restricting the narration (Perno, 2014).
Memento is no exception, utilising a nonlinear storyline with two perspectives intertwined, the
films narration becomes strongly restricted (Jeffers Cairns, 2011). By doing so, Nolan is able to
disorient the audience and allow them to feel a sense of Leonard s extreme and constant state of
confusion and lack of situational awareness (Perno,

Bill Gates Dropping Out Of Harvard
The world s attitude towards the personal computer may have been completely different if not for
one event: Bill Gates dropping out of Harvard. Gates came from a wealthy family in Seattle,
Washington, but even at a young age, he knew how to take risks in order to follow his passion for
computers. The developments that Microsofthas made, ranging from the earliest operating systems
such as MS DOS to the Microsoft Office Suite, have impacted the way that the personal computer
operates. Microsoft products are used around the world, by various types of customers, ranging
from CEOs to elementary school teachers and everyone in between. Both Gates and Microsoft have
had a significant hand in establishing the way the world interacts with computers.
Keira Stevenson summarized Gates rising love for technology in her article. Even in elementary
school, Gates could often be found cutting class to spend more time with the school s large

their school s computer. The two teens were later hired by a software company to seek out bugs

The Dichotomy Of The Role Of Women In Agamemnon
To the outside, modern day, western observer, the role of women in Agamemnon makes a pretty
clear mark as to how the Ancient Greeks viewed women. Notably, that they seem to hate them. Of
the five women who are mentioned at all in the story, only one is portrayed positively, and even
she is murdered and then only praised and remembered for her beautiful virginity, and her voice.
Repeatedly throughout the play the women are demonized for things that are not necessarily their
fault, and often times are the fault of the men who blame them. While these women can be less than
morally pure, a strangely large amount of blame and doubt gets placed upon them while men are
mourned for heroic deeds and have their misdeeds overlooked. This dichotomy between the two
genders is perhaps clearest between the title character Agamemnonand his wife, Clytemnestra, but
can be seen in sharp detail through the combination of all the women. In the case of
Clytemnestra, there is no doubt that she was wrong in cheating although it was likely that her
husband did as well. However, one of her first interactions on stage is of the chorus doubting her
for seemingly no reason, until she got incredibly graphic with her details which caused them to
exclaim how much her words were like a man s, and then believe her. This kind of persistent lack
of confidence despite her repeatedly proving herself to be just as capable can understandably lead
to a strained relationship between her and her people, and yet

Will Trump s Lower The Tax Rate Reduce The Budget...
Will Trump s Lower the Tax Rate Reduce the Budget Deficit?
We have a long story of debt, but it seems no one has been able to make it better. If the debt is
increasing over time, the government has a budget deficit. Charles C. Turner, et al, defines the
deficit as spending that exceed a revenue (482). In history, basic deficit or debt was usually from
over spending from a war and economic issues like a recession or depression. Then the
government had a budget deficit almost every year between 1970 and 1997, but the tax cut and
more spending on defense by President Reagan in 1981 added more growth to the deficit. Also,
another cause is from reducing of productivity seem in the GDP and lower tax rate (tax cut)
(483). Even when the government had some budget surplus, still, it could not cover the debt. In
2012, the debt grew over $ 16 trillion, (482 483) and has increased more in recent year plus 2.9
percent of the budget deficit in 2016 (The 2016 Long Term Budget Outlook, 2). To manage the
economic depression, sometime policymakers cut the taxes and increase spending again by putting
more money into the private sectors (Turner, 483); therefore, government goes further with the
budget unbalancing. There are several reasons that lower the tax rate will not reduce the budget
deficit closer to a balance.
First, lower tax rate will lower revenues. Overall tax cuts for a new coming year will bring the
different amounts of revenue for the previous year if the tax rate falls

The Power Of Myth By Joseph Campbell
Culture is something that influences everyone s individual behaviorisms, both consciously and
unconsciously. Everybody has a personal culture, often learned from other groups, which then have
their own distinct characteristics. Joseph Campbell was a celebrated American scholar who
studied mythology, having popularized the idea of the hero s journey. The Power of Myth is a
book based on the six episode documentary Joseph Campbelland the Power of Myth, in which
Campbell and interviewer Bill Moyers examine the human world. Both discuss Campbell s thoughts
about mythology, and ultimately culture. Campbell s The Power of Myth introduces important
ideas that don t completely agree with my own values, but still shares notable similarities with...

Moreover, Campbell dedicated his life to studying myth and religion, something that I probably
wouldn t choose to do with my time. Another instance where Campbell shared his dissimilar
observations of myths is his assertion that [i]f you were not alert to the parallel themes, you perhaps
would think they were quite different stories, but they re not. (Campbell 14). Campbell has studied
so many myths that he was able to find the universal lessons that humans have learned. Another
interpretation is that Campbell has made the generalization that all myths are essentially the same. I
believe that while there may be overarching themes found throughout myths, there are still key
differences that make each culture s mythology unique. Trying to group everything into a precise
category or combining all myths into a single monomyth makes any other possibilities obsolete.
For example, both my favorite TV show and book series retell well known fairy tales. Finding new
meanings in a story that is otherwise clichГ© can be eye opening. I think myths and fairy tales
alike reflect the variances between cultures and times, which fluctuate, but Campbell concluded that
all myths tell the same story. This is yet another disparity between Campbell s views on myth and
my own.
Campbell s personal values didn t seem to emphasize independence and diversity as much as mine.
For instance, Campbell said that marriage is the

Stoning In The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
American author Matthew Scully once said, sometimes tradition and habit are just that, excuses to
leave things be, even when they are unjust and unworthy. . There are always traditions passed down
from generation to generation, without the knowledge of how they began or how they originated.
Some traditions are harmless and enhance the community; other traditions are outdated and cruel
that need to be modernized or discarded. Shirley Jackson uses symbolism such as the stoning of
people, the lotteryitself, and the black box in The Lottery to highlight how people blindly follow
traditions. Stoning is one of the earliest murder weapons used by humans as a form of social justice
within communities. This arrangement of punishment always occurs

According to Leonard Pitts, author of the article Kids who commit violent crimes: Are
they..spoiled?, blames Amy Grossberg, the real life China for the death of her child, but does
not blame Brian Peterson, the real life Jeremy. The biased view that Pitts takes does not seem to
realize that it took two people to have a child and commit the violent crime they committed. Pitts
says he struggles to understand how individuals can do this to a child, yet he only blames the
woman. Brian Peterson had a role in the crime whether Pitts wants to accept that fact or not.
Brian Peterson, although he advised Amy to seek medical treatment still played a role in
murdering the life of an innocent baby. Pitts argues that the high class, wealthy upbringing has led
to Grossberg not wanting a child and saying that she does not deserve to have the child.
Grossberg is correct that she does not deserve to have a child if this is how she will treat it, but at
the same time the innocent child did not deserve her as a parent, and did not deserve to lose its life.
Pitts article seems to agree with the notion that the characters high upbringing has implanted the
idea that teen pregnancy is horrible and society will look down upon the one pregnant. He writes
that the pregnancy was an embarrassment and an intrusion in her perfect life. China is extremely
unprepared to deal with the news of a child and fears the rejection of the society she belongs

  • 2. San Bernardino Terrorist Attacks Case Apple vs the Government agency (FBI) in the San Bernardino Terrorist attacks case. Ethics and Morality are defined as the distinction of right and wrong. On the other hand morals are also largely based on the social values of good and bad. However, people tend to define them as the standards and customs that guide the way of life towards good. In most cases of ethics and morality they are referring to acts of both good and bad deeds. Nonetheless, in a recent case with the FBI vs. the Government against Apple Inc. Company arose one of the key moral issues in the business world. Apple refused to offer a backdoor to one of the iPhones considered to be of the terrorists. The ethical issue involved two genuine values; privacyand security.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apple mentioned also in their letter to their customers that they were against terrorism. They continued to state that as a company they did everything in their power to help the FBI in investigating this case and catch these criminals. However, Apple did not want to risk its customer s privacy because it was found that most apple product users store data such as private conversations, photos, music, notes, calendars and contacts, financial information and health data in their devices. Since Apple operates their company based on certain values one of them being safeguarding their customer s data, this prompted decision to deny the FBI the software or backdoor that would ve risked the privacy of millions of iPhone users. The FBI however is willing to do just about anything to solve a case, one that especially involves serious criminals investigates. Keeping this in mind you can see why the FBI refused to think morally in favor of Apple and how this backdoor software would ve tarnished the reputation and decreased business for this company. However it is concluded both of these parties did what was ethically right for their independent situations, but as you can see what is ethically right for one situation is not necessarily right for another ... But it is not an easy job to discover the exact place of the cognitive sense organ in the cortex which is actually a jungle of about ten thousand million nerve cells. The sixth sense is demonstrated in all the progression and inventions of human civilizations. Sometimes, the inventions springs suddenly but after a long trials and sufferings; so that the inventor attains his goal at once as if a sudden inspiration had illuminated his researches. The poets called this inspiration an intuition and the sophists regarded it a heavenly discovery and unidentified suggestion. Laurent, a French philosopher said that the inventor is an intuitive poet and Claude Bernard had also revealed this special sense and this intuitive discovery in the creative scientific achievements. • 8. Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels Even in today s society, jokes about the repercussions of educating women find their way into the popular culture, though they are generally very tongue in cheek. For example, in Pitch Perfect 2, a recent film, a comedic relief, narrating character says of the girls acapella performance, This is what happens when you send girls to college (Pitch Perfect 2). The character implies that when girls are given educationand freedom, they will default to partaking in foolish behavior. This was a common idea in the eighteenth century as people legitimately denied women schooling based on such a concept. In the last paragraph on page 55 of Gulliver s Travels (1726), Swift comments on the education and roles of women in Lilliputian society using specific word choice and juxtaposition of male and female schooling. With this, he asserts that, while the Lilliputians regarded women with similar gender based expectations as the English, they did offer women some form of equality through the basis of education. This, of course, contrasts the treatment of women in European society which feared that female education would empower women to leave behind their traditional roles. Through his addressal of the fact that women can be educated and still succeed as mothers and wives, Swift presents that society could benefit from teaching girls basic information while still keeping them in their customary places. For instance, he comments that Chambermaids practiced common Follies (Swift 55). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are about 440, 00 people that survived polio (LaRocco, 2011). It is estimated that between 15% and 80% of people with polio will have post polio syndrome. Post polio syndrome generally occurs 15 years after the polio virus has subsided (LaRocco, 2011). The symptoms are muscleweakness, atrophy, pain, fatigue, and cold sensitivity. Fatigue can impair cognition as well as other symptoms (Grafman et al., 1995). The symptoms can come on slowly or quickly. Medications haven t been proven to work well in treating the muscle symptoms, but rehabilitation may help (LaRocco, 2011). Pain and the psychiatric problems are important to control. Medication such as aspirin, hot pads and cold pads can help alleviate pain. Post Polio syndrome is not usually life threatening (LaRocco, 2011). The brainstructures affected in post polio syndrome are those involved in motor learning and control (Grafman et al., 1995). These include structures such as the cerebellum, cerebral cortex, basal ganglia, and globus pallidus. There can also be gray matter lesions in the reticular formation or white matter scarring of the corticospinal tract (Grafman et al., 1995). An MRI is important to examine the brain structures... It is also assumed that the design process is based on a single conceptual category of an object . The frame works on some assutions made in the methodology of design and implementation of open systems for computer integrated enterprises CIMOSA (Open Systems Architecture for CIM). CIMOSA was developed by AMICE (European Computer Integrated Manufacturing Architecture) Syndicate within European Union ESPRIT research projects in the years 1986 1996 [CIMOSA Association, 1996], [Ladet, Vernadat, 1995]. CIMOSA introduced an integrated enterprise modeling methodology based on processes. In CIMOSA architecture an enterprise is defined as a set of domains consisting of a set of organizational processes realizing elementary objectives of the enterprise activity. In the approach presented an assumption was made that the domain may be defined for one or several spheres of the enterprise activity, implementing one or several management functions, while the enterprise organizational processes are linked to the market surroundings. • 14. Rational And Rational Choice Theory Rational choice theory posits that any individual makes behavioral choices because they logically consider any potentially criminal situation, weigh the possible benefits versus the possible costs, and make a decision to act based on whether or not the benefits outweigh the risks. Rational choice theory differs from other philosophies in that it denies the existence of any kinds of action other than the purely rational and calculative. All social action, it is argued, can be seen as rationally motivated, as instrumental action, however much it may appear to be irrational or non rational (Scott, 2000). Making rational choices means being motivated by personal wants, goals, and needs. It is not possible for all wants and needs to be met or achieved; therefore, choices are made in order to bring the greatest satisfaction and happiness to the individual. Individual does not always reference one human being; rational choice theoryis a main idea in economics, sociology, and many other social sciences. An individual with regard to the theory can be a corporation, group, or other defined entity that engages in decision making. The limitations of this theory have led researchers to develop many sub theories. One sub theory of rational choice is routine activity theory, which posits that crimeis not an aberration of human society, but merely a common facet of culture that only requires opportunity. Turning to comedians for news is not a horrible idea as long as viewers understand that comedians must also distort news in order to entertain. The scaffolding on which playwright plots a tale to frame or shape the action Mira Fellner, THINK theatre (Boston: Pearson, 2013), 51. While reading a play, knowledge is applied in a critical perspective. Our mind tries to classify it in a coherent form into one of the types of dramatic structures that have been studied by us. It should be possible now to differentiate a climactic structure from a serial, episodic or circular one. Our goal is to clarify the ideas presented in a play. For this, it is imperative to acknowledge that each play has its own structure. Using the tools presented to us on Think theater we move on now from the theory to the practice. We will be thoroughly working on the structural analysis of Amphitryon . A three act play, by Moliere. On the very start we meet the main characters, first is Amphitryon as the general of the Thebans. Next, we have Sosia , Amphitryon s manservant. As George Eliot once quoted in his novel, The Mill on the Floss, Don t judge a book by its cover. It started with a lady named Cecilia Chiang running a flourishing and wildly successful Chinese restaurant named The Mandarin. In 1974, she opened a second location in posh Beverly Hills, feeding celebrities the likes of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The celebration we see in the media of celebrity chefs today really started with Cecelia Chang. She was indeed a pioneer. That very same year, Cecilia returned to China for an extended trip. Her son, Philip, fresh out of art school, struggled finding work as an artist. He quickly stepped in to run the restaurant. At that time a restaurateur called Paul Fleming, based in Arizona, was running a successful restaurant concept, spending time at his regular Chinese place in Los Angeles called Mandarette. Fleming broke with the traditional Chinese restaurant format, and with his collaborator, Chef Philip Chiang, devised a selectively limited menu that featured far fewer dishes than the menus of typical, full service, Chinese restaurants. Incorporating an American steak house dining style and a formidable selection of wines and cheeses, P.F. • 36. In Defense of Free Will In this paper I will present an argument against free will and then I will defend a response to that argument. Free will is defined as having the ability to make our own choices. Some will argue that all of our decisions have already been dictated by our desires therefore we never actually truly make our own choices. The purpose of this paper is to defend the argument that we have free will by attacking the premise that states we have no control over what we desire. I will defeat this premise by showing how one does have control over his/her desires through the idea of self control. I will then defend my argument against likely rebuttals that state that there is still no way to control our desires proving that we do have free will. 1. The Argument Against Free Will The argument against free will states that; what you do is always determined by what you have the strongest desire to do, but you have no control over what you desire. If what you do is always determined by something that you have no control over then you can never actually act freely. It follows from what has been said that one does not have free will. The first statement seems to not make a whole lot of sense right off the bat. You would think that if someone wants to do something but does not do it then they are not choosing their greatest desire. How does your brain tell you what you want? Just as fate is a popular concept in our readings, love can also be seen in nearly any story. One story in particular that features this concept is the Iliad by Homer. The story revolves around a prince from Troy stealing the wife of a Greek king who he appears to love. This love drives the two nations to go to war with the warrior Achilles eventually killing Hector in the end with a blow to the gullet offered swift and certain death (p. 266). Another story in which love is a prominent aspect is Oedipus the King in which the love of his wife as well as the shame brought by his wife being his mother leads him to gouge out his own eyes. The notion of injuring oneself out of love is a concept that also can be seen in many works of literature and popular culture as well with Oedipus s action being a prime example. Networked organizations are known for promoting flexible, adaptive and creative business environments. However, a company must be able to maintain operational process control. Randy Fields constantly encouraged his employees at all levels to be creative in new technology innovation. For example, an accounts payable clerk introduced the idea of automating recurring invoices, which led to the development of a new automated system that was used by all of the stores. Randy welcomed these types of system innovations. He wanted to put as much intelligence and decision making controls into the store computers as possible. Networked organizational structures replace inflexible hierarchal controls with controls based on IS. And the IS in networked structures allow data to be collected and stored instantly in centralized data warehouses, which enables data analysis for quick and accurate management decisions. The Dichotomy Of The Role Of Women In Agamemnon To the outside, modern day, western observer, the role of women in Agamemnon makes a pretty clear mark as to how the Ancient Greeks viewed women. Notably, that they seem to hate them. Of the five women who are mentioned at all in the story, only one is portrayed positively, and even she is murdered and then only praised and remembered for her beautiful virginity, and her voice. Repeatedly throughout the play the women are demonized for things that are not necessarily their fault, and often times are the fault of the men who blame them. While these women can be less than morally pure, a strangely large amount of blame and doubt gets placed upon them while men are mourned for heroic deeds and have their misdeeds overlooked. This dichotomy between the two genders is perhaps clearest between the title character Agamemnonand his wife, Clytemnestra, but can be seen in sharp detail through the combination of all the women. We have a long story of debt, but it seems no one has been able to make it better. If the debt is increasing over time, the government has a budget deficit. Charles C. Turner, et al, defines the deficit as spending that exceed a revenue (482). In history, basic deficit or debt was usually from over spending from a war and economic issues like a recession or depression. Then the government had a budget deficit almost every year between 1970 and 1997, but the tax cut and more spending on defense by President Reagan in 1981 added more growth to the deficit. Also, another cause is from reducing of productivity seem in the GDP and lower tax rate (tax cut) (483). Even when the government had some budget surplus, still, it could not cover the debt. In 2012, the debt grew over $ 16 trillion, (482 483) and has increased more in recent year plus 2.9 percent of the budget deficit in 2016 (The 2016 Long Term Budget Outlook, 2). To manage the economic depression, sometime policymakers cut the taxes and increase spending again by putting more money into the private sectors (Turner, 483); therefore, government goes further with the budget unbalancing. There are several reasons that lower the tax rate will not reduce the budget deficit closer to a balance. First, lower tax rate will lower revenues.
