Naps Beneficial
I do not believe naps during the day are more beneficial to your mind and body. Naps can cause
problems with you being groggy after waking up. Generally people cant take naps because of
distractions and noises. First, reason i do not believe naps are beneficial is because people that take
naps tend to stay groggy for the rest of the day. Normally when you take a nap you sleep longer than
intended which will cause problems when you try to go to bed at night. Generally people do not need
naps during the day unless they were kept up during there nighttime sleep schedule. If you are tired
during the day and a nap is needed you could have a illness that needs to be treated. Other reasons
could be that there is too much stress or not

The Medicines Of Medieval Medicine And The Black Death
Medieval Medicine
Medieval Medicine was basic in an era when terrible illnesses such as the Black Death were killing
nearly one third of the population. No one had any idea what caused illnesses and diseases, such as the
Black Death. There were no antibiotics or vaccines thus it was almost impossible to cure illness and
diseases.
Bloodletting was a popular method of restoring a patient s health and humors . Early surgery, often
done by barbers, occurred without anaesthesia.
Often medicines were made from herbs, spices and resins. The medicine was applied in drinks, pills,
washes, baths, rubs, poultices, purges and ointments. Which sometimes themselves contained fatal
ingredients.
Medicine used to treat some specific illnesses
Medieval Medicine to treat the Black Death
The Black Death held a mortality rate of between 30 and 40 per cent. Victims had no idea what had
caused the disease. And neither did the doctors in Medieval Times. The Black Death was treated by
lancing the buboes and applying a warm poultice of butter, onion and garlic. Various other remedies
were tried including tobacco, arsenic, lily root and even dried toad.
Medieval Medicine to treat Headache and Aching joints
Head pains were treated with sweet smelling herbs such as rose, lavender, sage, and bay. A mixture of
henbane and hemlock were applied to aching joints. Coriander was used to reduce a fever. Medieval
Medicine to treat Stomach Pains and Sickness Stomach pains and sickness were

Increasing pressures of cutting costs and improving the quality of care in health care services
influences the management of the health care organization to implement the generally accepted
accounting principles (GAAP) within their daily routines. Generally accepted accounting principles
(GAAP) are a set of uniform accounting guidelines health care organizations follow to determine the
financial position of an organization. According to Finkler, Kovner, and Jones (2007) the most
common and important GAAP are as follows: (a) Entity concept, (b) Going concern concept, (c)
Matching principle and cash versus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the materiality principle assists the professional judgment of a manager with these
challenges on deciphering whether or not to deem an item as material. Usually if an item has an
impact on the income, or affects the decision making of the professional using the financial statement,
the item is material. Another GAAP is the full disclosure principle. This principle states that it is
imperative to include all information in a financial statement of an entity that would affect the reader s
understanding of the statements. This principle also includes the reporting of any current accounting
policies as well as any changes of them. The last GAAP is the consistency principle. The consistency
principle suggests that once an organization agrees upon the utilization of an accounting principle or
method, they should consistently use the same method for future fiscal years. This will provide a more
accurate comparison for the individuals dealing with the massive amounts of numbers and transactions
each fiscal year. In conclusion, a health care organization s primary focus may be to provide quality
care services; however the financial wellbeing and viability is critical to meet that focus. A substantial
portion of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) applies specifically to
reporting entities that are involved in the business of healthcare. Therefore, the generally accepted
accounting principles were developed as a set of

Opera Review Essay
It is frequently stated that opera is a dying, if not dead, artform: irrelevant to the cultural scene of the
twenty first century (Morris, 2003). However, it is arguable that much of what society rejects comes
from a learnt sense of prejudice or lack of education and exposure (Murphy Paul, 1998). In response
to this, it becomes important to understand the relevance of operatic themes and the techniques in
which they are presented in order to challenge the mass perceptions of outdatedness. Similarly, it is
pertinent to consider the levels on which opera may be enjoyed, as it can appeal to many people in
ways other than the vocal aspects. Finally, everybody should be made aware of what opportunities are
available to explore and engage in contemporary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many examples of recent operatic premieres that target a different demographic of audience.
The contrasts of language and modern day contexts can make the opera feel more accessible (Service,
2014), removing the elitist stigma from the productions. Cloudstreet was one of many operas
premiered in 2016, and told Tim Winton s story of post war working class Australians (Henderson,
2016). Many aspects of this production clearly strived to make the performance highly inclusive, such
as the narrative, language, costuming, use of modern compositional techniques, addition of
colloquialisms and profanities, and the way in which the opera was marketed. However, this is not a
standalone example; other recent opera premieres include The Rabbits, by Kate Miller Heidke and
Lindy, by Moya Henderson and Gesualdo, by John Wregg (Partial Durations, 2014). It is important for
everyone to be aware of the opportunities to see modern opera, as it is a highly accessible way to
attend opera, particularly for those people who would be reluctant to see a classical opera. Knowing
the possible events to attend and attending those performances is a huge part of making informed
decisions about opera and personal

How Did The Serfs Affect Feudal Society
Serfs had a place in the feudal system as a low class peasant. Serfs made up the majority of the
medieval population, doing grueling work. Serfs made up most of the population, with a whopping
90%! The population was a larger amount of serfs than knights. Serfs were also known as farmers,
meaning they gave food and crops to villagers. The crops would help sustain them for a long time, and
only a few serfs were strong enough to work in the fields and harvest them, for most serfs caught the
Black Plague. The serfs caught Black Plague from fleas in the fields (King 4). Serfs were bound to
land that the lord owned. The serfs provided their own food and clothing from his work. Along with
feeding himself, he had to give a portion to the lord ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Salisbury Oath was an example of how the feudal society worked. The oath wasn t a massive
change in the feudal society, but it did have some effect on services. The feudal oath changed slightly.
In feudal law, the members of society still had the same social classes. The oaths kept the feudal
systems in tact. The oaths were helpful to members of society because they had said that each worker
had to do his job in the medieval village and they usually used a sacred oath to God (Birney 85).
Feudalism already existed in England at the time, but became stronger and stronger under each oath
made. Changes in law were to be expected, like changes in taxing, military service and even a shift of
power was made sometimes. The idea of feudalism had begun long before members of society
realized (Birney 84). The Salisbury Oath was not necessarily a feudal oath. England practiced
feudalism, so all tenants acknowledge a supreme member as their monarch. The members strived for a
strong, feudal government, so William created an oath that was an expansion on feudalism (Birney
85). In feudal times, Oaths were the only source of agreement. Even the relationship between the
feudal lord and the vassal was based on oaths. The Lord made an oath to protect the vassal s family if
anything should happen, and the vassal made an oath to the lord that he would fight with all the effort
possible (Conference Page 2). The many, oaths and agreements between kings and vassals was
considered a reciprocal relationship. Oaths also kept the Military in tact, causing knights and vassals
to dedicate their full service to the feudal lord. Without the oaths, the military would crumble, leading
to a downfall of feudalism (Conference Page 2). The oaths and agreements were a severe part of
feudalism, causing a stronger

Brutus Weaknesses
Brutus most certainly would be the first choice of noble characters in the play. His intentions in killing
Caesar were honorable in the Roman s eyes. He did not kill Caesar for a personal gain or revenge,
unlike Cassius who wanted total revenge, Brutus took Caesar s life because he believed that Caesar
was going to do incredible damage to the Roman Republic. Brutus s weakness in his honorable nature
that lead him to trust Cassius, who he considers his friend, and let himself be persuaded that Caesar
must be killed to save Roman Democracy. The same nature causes Brutus to reject the suggestion be
his fellow Romans to kill Anthony as well. As a result Anthony calls Brutus the noblest Roman of all

M359 TMA Jean Matar 130876 Number 1: 1.1: A green database refers to the repository of data with
minimal effect to the environment. It is an environment friendly database unlike the present day data
center To achieve green i.e. environment friendliness, we need a proper planning and strategy. We
must first understand the energy requirement of our data center. Based on the understanding we have
to develop a plan to build or upgrade the data warehouse to make it energy efficient. Then we have to
optimize and load balance the server rooms Afterwards, to increase performance we have to follow
virtualization of the server. The final steps include the analysis of the developed system and report to
the authorities. 1.2: At present the data centers are a great matter of concern and there is a global
understanding about the future of the data centers. Although data centers are developing at a very fast
pace but still the efforts are going on to standardize the things and reduce the environmental effects of
the data centers. Some of the big IT companies like Google, yahoo, IBM etc. have gone a far ahead to
achieve green data centers. Some companies like HCL, IBM etc. are providing packages to help the
organizations develop green data centers in a cost effective manner. The larger player of the IT
industry are all well aware of the effects of the data centers on the environment and they are trying

Social Action At The Lower East Side Tenement Museum
Case study 3: Social action at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum
Ruth J. Abram, who wanted to create a museum centered upon an experience common to the majority
of Americans, founded the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Abram believed that the immigrant
experience was something that diverse groups of people could relate to and unite together on, moving
Americans to participate in a national conversation with similarly situated, contemporary immigrants
and other outsiders (Abram 2005:21). As we can see, Abram has been dedicated from the start to civic
engagement through community collaboration.
Abram continually ensures that the museum has the resources and insight needed for community
engagement. This is done in several ways. For instance, Abram and the Board of Trustees are
committed to ensuring that there is funding for not only the various programs the museum engage in,
but also for the staff s needs. They are committed to having a diverse and inclusive team, comprised of
individuals from multiple backgrounds. Furthermore, they have 32 full time staff positions and 30 part
time docents (Abram 2005). It is this kind of commitment that has contributed to successful and
sustainable community collaboration. Staff members often speak more than one language and have
experienced many of the same issues that past and present immigrants have faced such as welfare
(Abram 2005). This brings in diverse experiences and stories into the museum space.
As Abram has pointed out The

Career Map Analysis
A career map encompasses detailed information that is thoroughly examined in order to implement a
strategy to achieve goals for a successful career. The information within a career map includes
imperative skills that have or have not been acquired that are representative of a specific career. In
addition, career maps also allow you to question what you may want in terms of a career and the
general goals needed to achieve them. Career maps help to solidify or build these questions by
outlining universal and unique skills, experiences, and personal characteristics. Career maps are in
essence the entire vision to your prospective career and outlines a specific plan that must remain fluid
and interchangeable to opportunity. The purpose of a career map is to allow you to organize your
strengths and weaknesses associated to a specific career. In doing so, you are essentially outlining the
needed information that a career may entail which allows you to do things in a timely matter. In
addition, by doing things in a timely matter, you are staying on plan with a path you have created for
yourself and improving the chances of you being successful. If you map out your pan and find that
most of the unique skills needed is not something you have acquired, you can better prepare for
alternatives. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This city state had a form of government that was for the people to have a say. Athens had great

architecture and philosophy. The city state that was superior was Athens because of their geography,

city states or even countries when visiting Athens, These citizens were able to learn a little bit about
Athens culture through the architecture and many other things such as religion, literature, art,

Constantine And Christianity Essay
Gaius Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus, or Constantine, is commonly referred to as the fist
Christian emperor of the Roman Empire and as the defender of Christianity. Such grand titles are not
necessarily due for the reasons that people commonly think of them today.
The first clear instance where Christianity is seen in Constantine s life is during his campaign against
Maxentius. In the spring of 311, when Constantine was marching to Rome to battle against Maxentius,
he saw a vision in the sky, a bright cross along with the words by this sign conquer. Later that night,
he had a dream in which God told him to use that sign as a safeguard to use in all of his future battles.
Constantine awoke and immediately ordered his troops ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once Constantine became the ruler of the entire Western Roman Empire, he met with Licinius, the co
emperor of the eastern empire, in Milan in 313. The intended purpose of this visit was to secure an
alliance between the two rulers by the marriage of Constantine s half sister Constantia to Lucinius. It
was at this time that the emperors established what is now known as the Edict of Milan. It granted the
freedom to pursue any religion within the empire, not just Christianity. Christianity was merely made
legal at this point, not the state sponsored religion. The edict also granted the return of properties
seized from Christians by governors. Maximinus Daia, who was the co ruler of the eastern empire
invaded Lucinian territory in the Balkans and was defeated by Lucinius army. After a time, relations
soured between Constantine and Lucinius. Lucinius eventually went back on the agreement made
during the Edict of Milan and in 322 and began persecuting Christians once again (Constantine I).
This led to the conflict between him and Constantine in 324, which was viewed as a war of religious
beliefs in which Lucinius and his army of Goth mercenaries represented ancient pagan beliefs, and
Constantine and his army of Francs represented Christianity. The opposing armies met at Adrianople
on the third of July and eventually led to Constantine besieging the city of Byzantium with his ground
troops and naval fleet.

Factors That Influence Tsarina Alexandra Had On Tsar...
The fall of the Romanovs can be put down to a number of factors, one of them being the influence
Tsarina Alexandra had on Tsar Nicholas II. Due to her close relationship with the Tsar she was able to
influence and manipulate him in a number of ways and convinced him to hold on to his autocratic
power no matter what. As a result of her intervention she can be seen as a significant figure in the fall
of the autocratic system. Her significance can be measured by a number of factors such as her
relationship with the Tsar and the influence she had over him, her relationship with the Russian people
as a result of her German roots, and finally her relationship with the monk Rasputin and the influence
he had over both the Tsarina and the Tsar. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it was the Tsar s actions that lead to many riots and fuelled the fire for revolution, he made
those decisions because of the Tsarina and her influence. She had no political knowledge but that didn
t stop her from getting involved, she was a firm believer that the Tsar deserved his autocratic power
and it was the will of God that he was in the position he was in. This belief led her to encourage him
to ignore many people who could have potentially helped preserve the autocratic system by helping
the Tsar make sensible decisions regarding the situation at hand. The fact that the Tsarina assumed an
active political role later on and would often let Rasputin to get involved was a major factor in
bringing about the fall of the Romanovs. She was unpopular as it was, but by attempting to make such
big decisions without the advice of the Duma, she was in fact destroying the autocratic system rather
than saving it as she thought she was doing. Not only did she continue to encourage the Tsar to ignore
all others, she often undermined his authority by overruling decisions made by him. By getting
involved in the way she did, she only further increased her own popularity but was also starting to

Adolf Hitler And Martin Luther Of Germany
Topic: Can we obtain a peaceful, ordered life? Should we even bother trying? If so, how?
Adolf Hitler of Germany: Martin Luther of Germany:
Argument: No it is impossible. Argument: Yes it is possible.
Today we have two great and influential people debating an incredibly controversial topic. Adolf
Hitler and Martin Luther are both German citizens during a time of conflict, however that is where the
similarities end. Luther, who was born in 1483 lived in a very different world from Hither. To Luther,
the conflict was focused primarily around religion and basic human rights. These conflicts resulted in
small scale battles and wars. Hitler s conflict was based on power and control. Religion was no longer
the most controversial subject. This conflict, combined with modern weaponry and tactics, produced
an incredibly deadly war: World War II. Luther was best known for being outspoken against the
corrupt Catholic church. Hitler was best known for murdering six million Jews. Both influential
people have interesting opinions to share on peace.
Argument of Martin Luther Indeed, it is possible to achieve a peaceful and orderly life. A peaceful and
orderly life can be achieved by learning obedience and fear of god through Lutheranism. This life can
only be rendered if some elemental requirements are fulfilled. The first of these requirements is that
there must be a general, universal, feeling of happiness. Secondly, there must be a widely practiced
goal that can be worked towards

Expanding Our Lunch Period Essay
Expanding our Lunch Period
We re talking about our kids futures. Our schools need to be teaching our kids how to be healthy.
Nadine Burke Harris. Nadine Burke is an American pediatrician. She is the founder and CEO of the
Center for Youth Wellness. This facility focuses on children who have had bad childhood experiences.
Mrs. Harris is an educated woman on what children need to have in order to be healthy so we should
take her advice. A thirty minute lunch period is too short, therefore we should make it longer.
Students cannot finish their lunch in the amount of time we are given which causes us to be wasteful.
Since lunch is only thirty minutes, I do not have enough time to finish my lunch. For example, if I
have a sandwich in my lunch, I end up throwing at least half of it into the garbage. Throwing half of
your lunch out is not only wasting the food, but the money you spent. If my dad knew how much of
my lunch I wasted he would not be happy because he is buying my food. Children in Africa don t have
enough food to nourish their bodies, meanwhile we are wasting perfectly good food that could save a
child s life in need of food. Every 5 seconds a child dies due to hunger and 1.3 billion tons of food is
wasted every year around the globe (in text citation). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Abstract
This paper provides a brief presentation of Activity Based Costing methodology, how is used as well
as its short comings.
Activity Based Costing
Activity based costing (ABC) methodology is an instrument designed to provide accountants and
managers with valuable costing information that will allow them to make sound strategic decisions. It
is used as a secondary methodology rather than a replacement for the company s primarily costing
system. The ABC methodology identifies activities in an organization and for each activity it assigns a
cost. The cost reflects the actual resource consumption by each activity that has been identified.
Under a traditional system, overhead cost is allocated to an activity based on hours or rates for direct
labor or machine usage. However, this approach does not clearly indicate how much overhead cost
will be needed in order to complete a job through a particular function. ABC methodology is to be
used as an alternative to traditional accounting where a business s overhead costs (indirect costs such
as electrical energy consumption for heating or cooling, or indirect cost associated with marketing) are
allocated as a proportion of direct costs, to an activity. This approach is unsatisfactory because there
can be cases where two activities could absorb the same direct costs

How do relationships quickly turn from love to hate? In Shakespeare s Othello , Iago seeks revenge on
Othello through his relationship. In the play Iago does not get the job he wants, and Othello gets
convinced his wife has cheated on him. Love can turn to hate through jealousy, rumors, and lies. Both
Iago s relationship to Othello and Othello s relationship to Desdemona have turned from love to hate
through jealousy. I have already chosen my officer. And what was he? Forsooth, a great arithmetician,
Iago not getting the job he wanted, becomes jealous of Cassio who he thinks does not qualify for the
job. The situation gives Iago a reason to hate Othello and strive to get revenge on him. Othello even
says All my fond love thus do I blow

American Schools Failing Essay
How America s Schools Are Failing America s once revered schools are no longer the greatest in the
world. This may seem unbelievable to most, but the truth is, America no longer leads the world in
education. Schools are shutting down at an alarming rate, and it is easy to see why when one looks at
some of the many flaws in our educational system today. Upon examining the schools of America, one
can find a plethora of issues within the system. This is proved time and again when students graduate
high school unprepared for college, a lack of exposure to different cultures, and without basic life
skills. Students are breezing through the years of high school and receiving a rude awakening when
they graduate. The four short years of high school have an enormous affect on the next forty. So many
things such as GPA, ACT scores, clubs etc. can mean the difference in thousands of dollars of debt
from student loans or a free ride to college. The failure to prepare in high school directly impacts the
future of America s students. Some may say that America in all her greatness cannot possibly be
failing its students. Yes, America is a wonderful country and a land of opportunity; however, the truth
is our nation is ranked just 36th in the world compared to being 1st in the world 30 years ago.

The Allegory Of The Cave
In the allegory of the cave Plato tries to show us two scenarios where the prisoners experience
emotional and intellectual revelations throughout their lives. Plato s theory was that the ones who truly
understand knowledge should guide the ignorant people out of their unenlightened states of being and
into true knowledge. The cave symbolizes the people who think that knowledge come from what they
see and hear in the world. It also indicates people that make assumptions about life based on the
substantial things they experience through hearing and seeing. Plato s main focus was to convey a
story to the world about the difference between beliefs and truth. Anyone can believe in something
they see, but that belief is really just a shadow of the truth.
Already from Plato s illustration of the prisoners, one can tell that they have very little knowledge of
their surroundings. Their lack of knowledge restricts them from knowing what s going on in the real
world. The prisoner s assumption of reality is all the shadows that appear on the wall. As far as life
goes, they believe the shadows are all there is and they don t question it. Plato referred to it as eikasia
signifying the lowest level of knowledge. The prisoners don t know any better so they don t strive to
observe anything else other than the shadows and the noises. In today s society the eikasia states of
mind can be illustrated by narrow minded people, who are set in their own views in life and do not
wish to expand

The Health Of The Common American
The health of the common American is almost guaranteed at the center of every joke; from sly

Observation In Good Country People, By Flannery O Connor
Observation In her story Good Country People, Flannery O Connor writes of Hulga Hopewell s
unfortunate experience where her confidence in her intellect leads her to make wrong conclusions of
other people s character. Living in self pity and despair after the accident that takes away her leg,
Hulga Hopewell maintains a negative view of life, herself, and others around her. In the story, her
mother, Mrs. Hopewell writes She grew less like other people and more like herself bloated, rude, and
squint eyed (O Connor 487). In addition to believing herself ugly, Hulga does not believe in God and
depends on her own Ph.D. in philosophy for advanced knowledge to explain the world and other

Arranged Marriage And Love-Based Marriage
Faced with evidence of an increasingly globalized and progressive human society, many Americans
mistakenly assume the established universal predominance of the love based marriage institution,
often believing that the antiquated practice of arranged marriage has become outmoded in a modern
age hallmarked by prevailing Western conceptions of individuality, personal liberty, and gender
equality. This ethnocentric perspective grossly misrepresents the reality of the heterogeneous and
heavily culture dependent tradition of marriage, as the majority of marriages in India are still arranged
and follow adapted mores of traditional, ancestral marriage praxes (Angeloni 85). In conducting a
cross cultural comparison of love marriages and arranged marriages, it is tempting to select the better
of the two marriage forms this, however, is an ideographically and culturally subjective parameter by
which to analyze the potential merits and drawbacks of these two modes of marriage. Ultimately, the
notion of cultural relativism that every culture is to be judged by its own premises [and] its own
axioms (Bohannan 33) crucially pertains to the objective study of arranged marriages and love based
marriages which, upon reflection, appear equally well suited and sensible within their own separate
cultural contexts. Love based marriages in the United States typically entail the wedding of two
individuals after a prolonged courtship based on their mutual romantic affection for one another

Violence Breeds Adulthood Throughout The World
Violence Breeds Adulthood In the time as which my parents grew up the world was very different.
They played outside at all hours of the night and they got into more trouble with each other and less
with the law. Growing up I had always heard my dad s stories of wandering around the small town
with his friends getting into fights and meeting girls. Somehow now day s things have changed but
remain the same. For instance, we often act like boys fighting at a young age is just stupid or even
childish but to a boy these fights are often almost something he will need to for the rest of his life it is
almost as the fights begin to shape a boy physically and mentally. Fights prepare him for the physical

being a man is to adapt to new situations, the boy s primal instincts took over. Boyle uses the term
kamikaze and mindless because to throw yourself at something without fear or worry of death is to
become strong mentally in the fact that you may die or wind up in jail. The boy was forced to adapt to
his situation and used a tire iron knowing his fist would be worthless adapting this and surviving as he
feared for his life. The tire is most likely used in this story because tire irons represent change and
replacing the old with the new for example the boy is losing his childhood and overcoming this to
become a man. The boy learns the reality of violence and death. Boyle states, In one of those nasty

Impacts of Climate Change on Australia Alps’ Ski Industry
The changing nature of snow cover as a result of alpine climate change is a modern phenomenon that
climate scientists are beginning to understand. Declining snow depth and duration have serious
implications for Australia s ski industry, in particular the longevity of the industry. This essay
discusses the impacts of alpine climate change on snow cover, adaption strategies to sustain the
industry s economy as well as the unsustainable nature of snowmaking as a long term solution.
Limitations on water and energy resource make snowmaking problematic as a substitute for natural
snow. The essay highlights the unsustainability of snowmaking as a short term solution, and raises
concerns of the longevity of the ski industry.
Currently, the Australian ski industry comprises of ten operational ski resorts (Figure 1) with 0.15% of
the continent (Green and Pickering 2009, p. 271) regularly receiving snow due to the low attitude of
mountains. Consequently, decline in snow cover on top of limited snow availability pose significant
difficulties to the longevity of the ski industry.
Effects of Climate Change Impact on ski industry Possible solutions
Decreased snow cover ↓ snow depth and duration ↑ snowmaking to substitute natural with artificial
snow
Temperature ↓ snow cover cascading cycle
Biodiversity vegetation Affects winter summer tourism Opportunity for summer tourism
Water scarcity ↓ efficiency of snowmaking;
↑ cost and competition Use summer tourism to balance the

Why Are Sweatshops Be Banned
Introduction
The word sweatshop has always had a negative connotation lingering over it. Many economists
believe that they should be banned and made illegal due to their poor working conditions, safety
hazards and worker exploitations. Although these opinions will indefinitely exist about sweatshops
there are many economists that fight the negative views by bringing statistics and facts about alternate
working conditions into the picture. This forces readers to see alternate views about the issue and how
people in third world countries make a living. The purpose of this review is to investigate the different
aspects and views on how sweatshops are either beneficial or detrimental to third world countries and

economists have different views about sweatshops and how it helps shape the economy but they also

Flop Analysis
Isolating limpers out of position can be a tricky proposition. Unless we have a big pair, small isos are
typically not as attractive since we will be out of position throughout the hand, if called. A solution to
this problem is something I call the third go. You may remember me covering this in Automatic Poker,
Volume 1. The entire play was created to exploit players who limp a wide range and then often play fit
or fold on the flop. It is a great way to lure bad players into making hugely unprofitable pre flop calls.
The way it works is that when it is our turn to act in the blinds and there are one or more limpers, we
simply bet about one third of our stack with the intention of shoving all in on any flop. As covered in
detail in Professional No Limit Hold em, once you invest one third of your stack into any pot, it is
always a mistake to fold. It does not matter if it is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When fold equity is high, it is more profitable to third and go the stronger parts of your range and
shove the weaker ones. This concept applies to both shoving over limpers and to 3 betting, which will
be covered in chapter x. If you think about it, the idea makes perfect sense. In low fold equity
environments, when holding a weaker hand, you obviously want to elicit a fold more often, so giving
yourself two chances to win makes more sense. Weak players may call a similar range vs a shove that
they will vs a third and go, and if called after thirding, you can shove the flop profitably since your
opponent will miss more often than not and not be likely to call the shove. Take this example, played
versus a very loose player: Shoving our entire stack in with a strong hand versus our loose opponent

Myths on Cosmic Creation
Every person in America has a myth or conviction of truth as to how creation was formed and human
beings came into existence. The following are inclusive in creation myths, the first is the Zulu myth
found in the continent of Africa, and the other is the myth of Norse originating from Europe. Both
myths give a reason as to how creation was formed on earth. Though there are endless amounts of
ideas and vast amounts of myths to explore, the focus of these two particular myths brings fascination
to a social phenomenon.
The cycle of creation in the Zulu myth is as follows in the in text citation ( Zulu Creation , 2011):
Darkness was in the beginning accompanied by a large seed. The seed fell from heaven and the seed
produced reeds that grew called Uthlanga. One seed in particular grew into a man and his named
Unkulunkulu. He grew so large and heavy that he broke off and fell to earth. As he fell, he walked
earth with a purpose to grow other seeds into male and female. Outside of humans, Unkulunkulu
created animals, mountains, lakes, and the sun and moon. He taught female and male how to survive
by imparting agriculture to grow things, how to hunt, and make fire. Unkulunkulu sent a chameleon
into the world with the message that his people will live forever. As this animal took too long, his
impatience grew and a lizard sent out a message of death completing the circle of birth to death.
The introduction of creation in the Norse myth is as follows from the in text citation

Snow Imagery in “Desert Places” and “Stopping by Woods on...
Robert Frost (1874 1963). Robert Frost was the most widely admired and highly honoured American
poet of the 20th century (Eiermann). Robert Frost was raised in rural New England where he grew a
fond love for the outdoors and nature (Merriman). His love with nature elements has probably
overwhelmed him so much that it has been reflected upon in many of his poems such as The Tuft of
Flowers, Reluctance, and Birches. One of the nature imageries that have been used frequently by
Robert Frost is the snow imagery. Although the snow imagery appears in many other poems by Frost

It is also because of the mysteriousness of the woods being lovely, dark, and deep (Frost, Stopping.,
line 13) that makes the speaker mesmerized. The snow in this poem gave the speaker calmness by the
woods and gives the poem the mood of welcome and mysteriousness whereas in Desert Places the
snow establishes the mood of loneliness and emptiness. Therefore, if the snow imagery made the
mood of the poems different, then evidently the snow imagery will make the themes of the two poems
different as well.
From the different manipulations of the snow imagery on the moods in Desert Places and Stopping by
Woods on a Snowy Evening it made their themes distinctly different from each other. The snow that
surrounded the speaker in Desert Places made the field look like an open, empty, lonely place. It is
from the surroundings that the speaker creates his own loneliness. From this, it is clear that the speaker
s loneliness inside himself/ herself overwhelms them so much that it causes their outlook to be of only
loneliness. So in Desert Places the theme is that the loneliness that is created from within of the
speaker causes him/her to realize or see the loneliness that is inside them and also the loneliness that
surrounds them, which is nature.

The Issue Of Humanitarian Intervention
The current consensus in the international community understands that nations, like individuals, have
basic rights, namely, the right to territorial integrity and political sovereignty. When another nation
violates these rights, it is considered an act of aggression. However, there certainly are situations
where a violation of territorieal integrity or political sovereignty is justified, namely humanitarian
intervention, thus use of military force against another state when the chief publicly declared aim of
that military action is ending human rights violations being perpetrated by the state against which it is

In On Liberty, John Stuart Mill argues that the only legitimate basis for limiting the individual s
liberty, in the liberal democratic state, is to prevent harm to others. In his words, The only purpose for
which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will,
is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant. This is
now considered the Harm Principle. The Legalist Paradigm seeks to extend this liberty to the states
themselves as well. It is a modern, secular and legalistic interpretation of Classical Just War Theory,
which reflects conventions of law and order based upon the analogy of states to individuals. It took
root in the writings of the Catholic theologian Francisco de Vitoria and the Dutch jurist, Hugo Grotius
and also from the Treaty of Westphalia at the end of the Thirty Years War in the 17th Century, which
led to the formal and legal recognition of independent, sovereign nation states and their rights to
territorial integrity and political sovereignty. The Legalist Paradigm consists of six claims. The first
two claims outline the existence of an international society of independent nation states that have
agreed upon the rights of its members to territorial integrity and political sovereignty. Thus, the third
claims defines aggression as the use of force to threaten the rights of another state.

Why Cholesterol And Know What Your Cholesterol Levels...
Learn how to prevent high cholesterol and know what your cholesterol levels actually mean. A good
time to get your blood cholesterol checked and take steps to lower it if your levels are elevated is in
September because it is National Cholesterol Education Month. National Cholesterol Education
Month is also a good time to learn about lipid profiles and about food and lifestyle choices that help
you reach personal cholesterol goals. The National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) states that
adults aged 20 years or older have their cholesterol checked every four to six years to stay on track
with their cholesterol levels. To our surprise, many people do not know that their cholesterol levels are
high given that having high cholesterol generally doesn t have any symptoms. However, doctors can
administer a simple blood test called a lipoprotein profile to check your cholesterol levels. A
lipoprotein profile can measure your total cholesterol levels, including LDL (low density lipoprotein,
or bad cholesterol), HDL (high density lipoprotein, or good cholesterol), and triglycerides (NECP).
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2013), high cholesterol is a major risk
factor for heart disease which is currently the leading cause of death in the United States. Preventive
recommendations for cholesterol screening among young adults vary, but most experts agree on the
need to screen young adults who have other risk factors for heart disease or stroke

able to make your own choices and create your own memories. This is shown through tone,

First, The Giver is shown through tone because of the way they talk to each other. The tone of the way

How Did Josef Mengele Affect The Holocaust
Have you ever wondered about the experiments performed on humans during the Holocaust? Dr. Josef
Mengele, or more commonly known as the Angel of Death, was one the the infamous doctors to
experiment and torture humans, more specifically, children, twins. Dr. Josef Mengele is a man of pure
evil who was devoid of all feelings for the young twins of Auschwitz. The following paragraphs will
tell you about Josef Mengele and his crimes.
The Angel of Death was born in 1911 in Guenzburg Germany, his name was. Mengele left Gunzburg
in October, 1930, to study at Munich University where he earned a PHD in Anthropology, then he got
his medical degree at the University of Frankfurt Am Main. In 1937, Mengele decided to join the Nazi

Mengele s children did have privileges as well, as they were spared from beatings and forced labor,
and they were allowed to keep their hair, They were given clean clothes as well as chocolates and
sweets. They were allowed to call him Uncle Mengele. These affectionate actions of Mengele were
not because of his impulse of humanity, but for winning the children s trust. This is what people call
the Devil s Charm . wTwins ere not the only ones who were collected, people with heterochromia
different color iris, dwarfism, short people . They were all put into barracks which people then named
the zoo because of all the species it held. Mengele did not perform all his gruesome experiments by

these experiments. Dr. Miklos Nyiszli, a Jewish prisoner, volunteered to help the Angel of Death. Dr

Inefficiency Of The Lottery Essay
Inefficiency of buying Lottery Tickets Have you ever seen those long lines near the lottery machine in
convenient stores, gas stations, or other lottery agents? If you have, then have you considered the total
amount of money that Americans spend on the lottery? In 2014, Americans have spent 70.15 billion
dollars on lottery tickets; this is almost four times the spending on Sports Tickets (Isidore). This
indicates that playing the lottery is an important source of leisure for Americans. However, this raises
an interesting question: is it economically efficient to buy lottery tickets? Are Americans receiving
benefits that are greater than the cost of buying a ticket? To answer this question, the concept of homo
economicus becomes essential. Homo economicus is a Latin word that denotes the economic man ; a
person who rationally makes decisions based on cost, value, and net benefits with the desire of
maximizing his happiness. To understand the economic man s perspective on playing the lottery, it
becomes essential to understand the net benefits and the costs of playing the lottery. After analyzing
these criteria, it becomes apparent that playing the lottery is economically inefficient, which is a
practice that the economic man would avoid, because the cost exceeds the benefits. First, it is essential
to analyze the incentive behind playing the lottery, and the probabilities of winning the lottery. When
an individual buys a lottery ticket, he has a desire to obtain more

How the Haitian Revolution Was Not Revolutionary In 1791, slaves in Saint Domingue, presently
known as Haiti, rebelled against France s reign. The rebellion was the first and only slave rebellion to

Britian and Spain, they received their independence. At the time, this revolution was a success and
celebrated by the Haitians. Soon after the victory, it was seen that the country was going into an
economic and political crisis. It is now seen that it destroyed the economy of Haiti and was a complete
failure. To this day Haiti has continued to hurt from the affects. For the country as a whole, the
revolution was not a success because it left Haiti ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
France made it impossible for them to become a well organized country. There is a high
unemployment rate and many jobs in the country are hard labor. The government, according to Arielle
Jean Baptiste, is far from a democracy. Jean Baptiste says during a speech that, ....the Haitians have

It is almost not possible to begin a personal business because of the costs. The country has continued

  • 3. The Medicines Of Medieval Medicine And The Black Death Medieval Medicine Medieval Medicine was basic in an era when terrible illnesses such as the Black Death were killing nearly one third of the population. No one had any idea what caused illnesses and diseases, such as the Black Death. There were no antibiotics or vaccines thus it was almost impossible to cure illness and diseases. Bloodletting was a popular method of restoring a patient s health and humors . Early surgery, often done by barbers, occurred without anaesthesia. Often medicines were made from herbs, spices and resins. The medicine was applied in drinks, pills, washes, baths, rubs, poultices, purges and ointments. Which sometimes themselves contained fatal ingredients. Medicine used to treat some specific illnesses Medieval Medicine to treat the Black Death The Black Death held a mortality rate of between 30 and 40 per cent. Victims had no idea what had caused the disease. And neither did the doctors in Medieval Times. Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) are a set of uniform accounting guidelines health care organizations follow to determine the financial position of an organization. According to Finkler, Kovner, and Jones (2007) the most common and important GAAP are as follows: (a) Entity concept, (b) Going concern concept, (c) Matching principle and cash versus ... However, the materiality principle assists the professional judgment of a manager with these challenges on deciphering whether or not to deem an item as material. Usually if an item has an impact on the income, or affects the decision making of the professional using the financial statement, the item is material. Another GAAP is the full disclosure principle. This principle states that it is imperative to include all information in a financial statement of an entity that would affect the reader s understanding of the statements. This principle also includes the reporting of any current accounting policies as well as any changes of them. The last GAAP is the consistency principle. The consistency principle suggests that once an organization agrees upon the utilization of an accounting principle or method, they should consistently use the same method for future fiscal years. This will provide a more accurate comparison for the individuals dealing with the massive amounts of numbers and transactions each fiscal year. In conclusion, a health care organization s primary focus may be to provide quality care services; however the financial wellbeing and viability is critical to meet that focus. A substantial portion of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) applies specifically to reporting entities that are involved in the business of healthcare. • 5. Opera Review Essay It is frequently stated that opera is a dying, if not dead, artform: irrelevant to the cultural scene of the twenty first century (Morris, 2003). However, it is arguable that much of what society rejects comes from a learnt sense of prejudice or lack of education and exposure (Murphy Paul, 1998). In response to this, it becomes important to understand the relevance of operatic themes and the techniques in which they are presented in order to challenge the mass perceptions of outdatedness. Similarly, it is pertinent to consider the levels on which opera may be enjoyed, as it can appeal to many people in ways other than the vocal aspects. Finally, everybody should be made aware of what opportunities are available to explore and engage in contemporary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many examples of recent operatic premieres that target a different demographic of audience. The contrasts of language and modern day contexts can make the opera feel more accessible (Service, 2014), removing the elitist stigma from the productions. Cloudstreet was one of many operas premiered in 2016, and told Tim Winton s story of post war working class Australians (Henderson, 2016). Many aspects of this production clearly strived to make the performance highly inclusive, such as the narrative, language, costuming, use of modern compositional techniques, addition of colloquialisms and profanities, and the way in which the opera was marketed. However, this is not a standalone example; other recent opera premieres include The Rabbits, by Kate Miller Heidke and Lindy, by Moya Henderson and Gesualdo, by John Wregg (Partial Durations, 2014). It is important for everyone to be aware of the opportunities to see modern opera, as it is a highly accessible way to attend opera, particularly for those people who would be reluctant to see a classical opera. Knowing the possible events to attend and attending those performances is a huge part of making informed decisions about opera and personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The crops would help sustain them for a long time, and only a few serfs were strong enough to work in the fields and harvest them, for most serfs caught the Black Plague. The oath wasn t a massive change in the feudal society, but it did have some effect on services. The feudal oath changed slightly. In feudal law, the members of society still had the same social classes. The oaths kept the feudal systems in tact. The oaths were helpful to members of society because they had said that each worker had to do his job in the medieval village and they usually used a sacred oath to God (Birney 85). Feudalism already existed in England at the time, but became stronger and stronger under each oath made. Changes in law were to be expected, like changes in taxing, military service and even a shift of power was made sometimes. The idea of feudalism had begun long before members of society realized (Birney 84). The Salisbury Oath was not necessarily a feudal oath. England practiced feudalism, so all tenants acknowledge a supreme member as their monarch. The members strived for a strong, feudal government, so William created an oath that was an expansion on feudalism (Birney 85). In feudal times, Oaths were the only source of agreement. Even the relationship between the feudal lord and the vassal was based on oaths. The Lord made an oath to protect the vassal s family if anything should happen, and the vassal made an oath to the lord that he would fight with all the effort possible (Conference Page 2). The many, oaths and agreements between kings and vassals was considered a reciprocal relationship. Oaths also kept the Military in tact, causing knights and vassals to dedicate their full service to the feudal lord. Without the oaths, the military would crumble, leading to a downfall of feudalism (Conference Page 2). The oaths and agreements were a severe part of feudalism, causing a stronger ... The intended purpose of this visit was to secure an alliance between the two rulers by the marriage of Constantine s half sister Constantia to Lucinius. It was at this time that the emperors established what is now known as the Edict of Milan. It granted the freedom to pursue any religion within the empire, not just Christianity. Christianity was merely made legal at this point, not the state sponsored religion. The edict also granted the return of properties seized from Christians by governors. Maximinus Daia, who was the co ruler of the eastern empire invaded Lucinian territory in the Balkans and was defeated by Lucinius army. After a time, relations soured between Constantine and Lucinius. Lucinius eventually went back on the agreement made during the Edict of Milan and in 322 and began persecuting Christians once again (Constantine I). This led to the conflict between him and Constantine in 324, which was viewed as a war of religious beliefs in which Lucinius and his army of Goth mercenaries represented ancient pagan beliefs, and Constantine and his army of Francs represented Christianity. Simpson CPA, CGMA March 1, 2015 Abstract This paper provides a brief presentation of Activity Based Costing methodology, how is used as well as its short comings. Activity Based Costing Activity based costing (ABC) methodology is an instrument designed to provide accountants and managers with valuable costing information that will allow them to make sound strategic decisions. It is used as a secondary methodology rather than a replacement for the company s primarily costing system. The ABC methodology identifies activities in an organization and for each activity it assigns a cost. The cost reflects the actual resource consumption by each activity that has been identified. Under a traditional system, overhead cost is allocated to an activity based on hours or rates for direct labor or machine usage. However, this approach does not clearly indicate how much overhead cost will be needed in order to complete a job through a particular function. ABC methodology is to be used as an alternative to traditional accounting where a business s overhead costs (indirect costs such as electrical energy consumption for heating or cooling, or indirect cost associated with marketing) are allocated as a proportion of direct costs, to an activity. This approach is unsatisfactory because there can be cases where two activities could absorb the same direct costs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Plato s theory was that the ones who truly understand knowledge should guide the ignorant people out of their unenlightened states of being and into true knowledge. The cave symbolizes the people who think that knowledge come from what they see and hear in the world. It also indicates people that make assumptions about life based on the substantial things they experience through hearing and seeing. Plato s main focus was to convey a story to the world about the difference between beliefs and truth. Anyone can believe in something they see, but that belief is really just a shadow of the truth. Already from Plato s illustration of the prisoners, one can tell that they have very little knowledge of their surroundings. Their lack of knowledge restricts them from knowing what s going on in the real world. The prisoner s assumption of reality is all the shadows that appear on the wall. As far as life goes, they believe the shadows are all there is and they don t question it. Plato referred to it as eikasia signifying the lowest level of knowledge. Observation In Good Country People, By Flannery O Connor Observation In her story Good Country People, Flannery O Connor writes of Hulga Hopewell s unfortunate experience where her confidence in her intellect leads her to make wrong conclusions of other people s character. Living in self pity and despair after the accident that takes away her leg, Hulga Hopewell maintains a negative view of life, herself, and others around her. • 28. Arranged Marriage And Love-Based Marriage Faced with evidence of an increasingly globalized and progressive human society, many Americans mistakenly assume the established universal predominance of the love based marriage institution, often believing that the antiquated practice of arranged marriage has become outmoded in a modern age hallmarked by prevailing Western conceptions of individuality, personal liberty, and gender equality. This ethnocentric perspective grossly misrepresents the reality of the heterogeneous and heavily culture dependent tradition of marriage, as the majority of marriages in India are still arranged and follow adapted mores of traditional, ancestral marriage praxes (Angeloni 85). In conducting a cross cultural comparison of love marriages and arranged marriages, it is tempting to select the better of the two marriage forms this, however, is an ideographically and culturally subjective parameter by which to analyze the potential merits and drawbacks of these two modes of marriage. Ultimately, the notion of cultural relativism that every culture is to be judged by its own premises [and] its own axioms (Bohannan 33) crucially pertains to the objective study of arranged marriages and love based marriages which, upon reflection, appear equally well suited and sensible within their own separate cultural contexts. Love based marriages in the United States typically entail the wedding of two individuals after a prolonged courtship based on their mutual romantic affection for one another ... Unless we have a big pair, small isos are typically not as attractive since we will be out of position throughout the hand, if called. A solution to this problem is something I call the third go. You may remember me covering this in Automatic Poker, Volume 1. The entire play was created to exploit players who limp a wide range and then often play fit or fold on the flop. It is a great way to lure bad players into making hugely unprofitable pre flop calls. The way it works is that when it is our turn to act in the blinds and there are one or more limpers, we simply bet about one third of our stack with the intention of shoving all in on any flop. In low fold equity environments, when holding a weaker hand, you obviously want to elicit a fold more often, so giving yourself two chances to win makes more sense. The cycle of creation in the Zulu myth is as follows in the in text citation ( Zulu Creation , 2011): Darkness was in the beginning accompanied by a large seed. The seed fell from heaven and the seed produced reeds that grew called Uthlanga. One seed in particular grew into a man and his named Unkulunkulu. Outside of humans, Unkulunkulu created animals, mountains, lakes, and the sun and moon. He taught female and male how to survive by imparting agriculture to grow things, how to hunt, and make fire. Unkulunkulu sent a chameleon into the world with the message that his people will live forever. Robert Frost was the most widely admired and highly honoured American poet of the 20th century (Eiermann). Robert Frost was raised in rural New England where he grew a fond love for the outdoors and nature (Merriman). His love with nature elements has probably overwhelmed him so much that it has been reflected upon in many of his poems such as The Tuft of Flowers, Reluctance, and Birches. Therefore, if the snow imagery made the mood of the poems different, then evidently the snow imagery will make the themes of the two poems different as well. From the different manipulations of the snow imagery on the moods in Desert Places and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening it made their themes distinctly different from each other. The snow that surrounded the speaker in Desert Places made the field look like an open, empty, lonely place. It is from the surroundings that the speaker creates his own loneliness. From this, it is clear that the speaker s loneliness inside himself/ herself overwhelms them so much that it causes their outlook to be of only loneliness. His own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant. This is now considered the Harm Principle. The Legalist Paradigm seeks to extend this liberty to the states themselves as well. It is a modern, secular and legalistic interpretation of Classical Just War Theory, which reflects conventions of law and order based upon the analogy of states to individuals. It took root in the writings of the Catholic theologian Francisco de Vitoria and the Dutch jurist, Hugo Grotius and also from the Treaty of Westphalia at the end of the Thirty Years War in the 17th Century, which led to the formal and legal recognition of independent, sovereign nation states and their rights to territorial integrity and political sovereignty.
