2. Hot Tub Research Paper
When the weather turns cold, conventional wisdom prescribes preparing your outdoor items for the
winter. Does that include your hot tub? According to Hot Tub Outlet, Southwest Littleton s favorite
source for premium hot tubs at affordable prices, they suggest leaving your hot tub running throughout
the winter with a few smart preparations. But the choice is ultimately yours, and if you decide to drain
it, you must take special care to winterize it properly. No matter which option you choose, here are
three things you must do for your hot tub as winter rolls around: Check For Leaks Damage: Cracks in
the hot tub can allow critters seeking refuge from the cold to move in, which is not only a nuisance it
also puts your equipment at risk. Rodents can cause damage by chewing wires and other expensive
parts, leaving you to foot the repair bill. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If it s time for a new filter, take this opportunity to change it. Consult the friendly Hot Tub Outlet staff
for guidance. Check pH Levels: pH measures the relative alkalinity of your hot tub s water, in which
7.0 is a perfectly neutral level. The ideal pH level should stay between 7.2 and 7.8, even throughout
the winter, to prevent corrosion and other expensive damage. Keep the Hot Tub Filled Or Winterize
Carefully: The Hot Tub Outlet team recommends keeping water in your hot tub throughout the year to
prevent leaks or cracks in the pipes. But if you must empty your hot tub, be sure it is fully winterized.
That means draining the tub and pipes thoroughly, as even a small amount of water can burst a pipe.

3. Career Planning Process Analysis
1. Introduction
Deliberate goalsetting and planning can be helpful to ensure a career which is both successful and
fulfilling. Career planning is the process of evaluating your interests, preferences, skills and
objectives, all to ensure that your work is in good agreement with personal values and strengths.
Reflecting on a viable career plan is particularly important for U of A Engineering graduates as the
economy in Alberta has seen heavy turmoil in recent years, resulting in the loss of job opportunities.
As a result, setting realistic goals and strategic planning is essential to navigate the rough economic
landscape.

Additional information gathered from my personal experiences will be outlined here.
In addition to assessing my current state through skills assessments, such as ALIS, strength based
assessments have been shown to be more useful for career development. One example is
StrengthsQuest (Gallup, 2016) which is a program that aims to help students to discover and take
advantage of their personal strengths. StrengthsQuest is being used across campuses and organizations
to develop strength maps for project teams and working groups. Strength maps help to identify
strengths and weaknesses within a group plan and accordingly, plan for success.
When researching companies and average salaries, I often turn towards Glassdoor ( Glassdoor, 2016)
as a source for company reviews, salaries and company interview practises. The data curated on
Glassdoor is maintained by current or former company employees which further reinforces the
creditability. This information is particularly useful because Glassdoor users have posted questions
that companies use during the interview process and salary information is available for specific
positions within an organization.

The Savannah Daily Republican newspaper for the months of October and November in 1842 give a
snapshot of the main issues and interests of the people in this time frame. The recurring themes center
around the economy, sectionalism, and social reforms. The advertisements, local ordinances, and legal
notices highlight daily life during this period. As observed in the newspaper and as it is commonly
known, the economy of Savannah and of the South, was mainly based on agriculture, primarily cotton,
which was supported by the shipping and emerging railroad industries. There are many advertisements

Usually the local ordinances would be printed more than one day; this was likely so that readers would

An Ordinance for regulating the public Market in the city of Savannah, and pertained to slaves, free
Negroes, mulattoes, and mestizos using a stall and working in the meat market. They could not rent,
hire, occupy, or use either by himself, or by or through another person, any stall in the market for the
sale of large or small meats. Also, they could not act as a butcher, cut up meat, or sell the meat. There
were, however, certain meats that they could sell, and this did not prohibit white butchers from
employing slaves. If this were to happen, the person notifying the officials may be able to claim the
meats, and the non white committing the unlawful activity would be subject to fines or whipping, or
both at the discretion of the mayor. This was not appealing to

Comparison of Java, JavaScript, Java Applets and Java Beans
Introduction Starting back in the early 1990 s with the introduction of Java to the computer scene there
has been many updates and advances in how languages interact with web based programs. In this
paper we are going to highlight several areas of several different Java flavors. The flavors we are
addressing are Java, JavaScript, Java Applets and JavaBeans. We will discuss their history, features,
usage and syntax and finally follow up with a chart providing a comparison of the different Java
architectures.

JavaScript was commonly used to manipulate images and document contents. There were early issues
with JavaScript; security flaws, lack of development tools and often criticized for being too unlike
Java, or too much like Perl. (Champeon, 2001) However, JavaScript took on a life all its own and in
some circles was written off due to its simpleness, its security flaws and to some extent because it
could only be tested within the browser environment.
A Java Applet is a small program written in Java, which can be downloaded to any computer. The
applet is usually embedded in an HTML page on a Web site and can be executed from within a
browser. JavaSoft, the current name of the company which oversees the development of the Java
language, was founded in January of 1996, and a few months later released the Java Development Kit
(JDK) version 1.0. (Youmans, 1997) The concept of an applet came out of the creation on the Java
language. It enabled users to produce programs named applets which could be transmitted and run
over the Internet, a somewhat different end product from what was originally envisioned back at the
beginning of the decade. (Youmans, 1997) Java Applets came about as a requirement for adding

The Roles of Women and the Differences in Lifestyles in A Scandal in Bohemia and The Speckled

A Scandal in Bohemia and The Speckled Band are two short detective stories written by Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle. They are set in England in the mid 19th century. Both of the stories are narrated by Dr
Watson, who is one of the main characters. The other main character is Sherlock Holmes and he is an
amateur detective. Both stories have a main female character and I am going to compare these female
characters by looking at their personalities and the circumstances in which they live in. In A Scandal

Irene Adler is not just very talented, she is also clever. Twice she has outsmarted the King of Bohemia

Godfrey Norton, she keeps the photograph, but only to safeguard herself. She is a very romantic

8. Antigone, The Universal And Most Heavily On A Hostile...
While myriad themes that pervade themselves throughout the entirety of Sophocles Antigone, the
universal and most heavily manifested theme is that regarding the conflict between how individuals
choose to make decisions in a society: should one fulfill religious and familial obligations even when
they contract the ruling of the state, or rather should the government be able to supersede divine right?
In the traditional Greek plays, the familial structure plays a significant role in governing the actions of
characters and causing conflicts, such as in the case of Oedipus marrying his mother out of ignorance
of familial connection because of divine rule and fate. Moreover, the role of hospitality and the almost
unbreakable bond of family are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sophocles thereby highlights Creon s injustice by showcasing not only the immorality of his actions
but also how he easily breaks familial bonds to maintain power and establish a strong government.

Idealism: The Root of Antigone s Downfall in Sophocles Antigone
Sophocles Antigone centers around a familial feud that develops between Antigone and Creon when
Antigone decides to bury her brother and Creon s niece, Polynices. While Antigone believes that it is
her religious and familial duty to bury her brother, Creon objects, citing the Theban civil war which
took place right before the events of the play. Adhering to Greek literary tradition, Sophocles
ultimately seeks not just to entertain the audience, but also to teach a moral lesson, in this case about
the consequences that ensue when a tyrannical ruler disobeys divine rule, violate religious obligation,
and attempt to place government over religion. In developing the plot and conflicts of the text,
Sophocles explores three unique but interconnected themes. Sophocles first considers the role of the
individual versus that of the family, then rule by consensus versus that by a monarchy, and finally
obligations to religion and tradition versus those to the state. The underlying conflict of Antigone,
therefore, is not simply that between Antigone and Creon, but also between the themes

10. Letters From Iwo Jima Analysis
The film, Letters from Iwo Jima, director by Clint Eastwood, takes place during one of the bloodiest
moments of the pacific theater during WWII. In this film, the fight for the island of Iwo Jima is told
from the perspective of the Japanese soldier, and in doing so, humanizes the soldier by showing his
true feelings regarding war. The Japanese warrior is considered to be fearless in the face death and
willing to do anything for his country. The America soldier holds this to be true, and the majority of
Japanese commanders believe this to be true. Yet, when analyzing this film, it is clear that not every

death they face, We will defend this island until we are dead. Until the very last soldier is dead (40.20

soldiers. When none of the Japanese soldiers do not respond to this message, he asks says, We are
completely outnumbered in every section but we have a great advantage... and Shimizu claims, The
Americans are weak and inferior to Japanese soldiers (42.30 42.40). This reasoning is nothing but
propaganda and lies that the Japanese soldier is superior. No one is superior on a battle field where
mortars and shells can kill anyone from any distance. All it takes is the pull of a trigger from yards out
to drop a soldier in his tracks. There is no advantage, yet the Japanese warrior attitude tries to instill
the false image that there is. Finally, once the battle commences it is clear that the larger US army is
going to crush the Japanese forces. Therefore, one of the Japanese commanders says, Escape is a
coward s way out. We are honorable soldiers of the emperor...the only way left for us is to die with

Drugs have taken and changed the lives of many, even people who seem invincible, our idols. Many
famous musicians and actors have lost their lives due to drugs or alcohol. Three examples would be
Kurt Cobain, Scott Weiland, and Layne Staley, three of the most famous musicians of their time. Each
of their lives were taken by drugs, and some recently. They were all born in the same year of 1967, but
all died at different times. Kurt Cobain, singer and guitarist of Nirvana, was 27 when his heroin
addiction caused him to take his own life. Throughout his teenage years, he experimented with

When he was young, he showed an interest in singing. In high school he formed his first band Mighty

This brush with the law did little to quell Weiland s appetite for drugs (Scott Weiland Biography). At

13. Encryption Is The Process Of Encoding Information
Abstract
Introduction to Encryption
Encryption is the process of encoding information in such a way that only the person (or computer)
with the key can decode it. Encryption is a way to enhance the security of a message or file by
scrambling the contents so that it can be read only by someone who has the right encryption key to
unscramble it.
Encryption has widely been used to protect data in numerous areas, such as e commerce, online
banking, cloud storage, online communication and so forth. For example, if you purchase something
from a website, the information for the transaction (such as your address, phone number, and credit
card number) is usually encrypted to help keep it safe. Another example of a cipher (encrypt) can be,
for instance, the replacing of the letters in a message with the ones one forward in the alphabet. So if
your original message read Meet you at the cafe tonight the encrypted message reads as follows: Nffu
zpv bu uif dbgf upojhiu . Types of Encryption
In encryption we have 3 different types
⦁ Hashing
⦁ Symmetric
⦁ Asymmetric
Hashing:
The first encryption method, called hashing, creates a unique, fixed length signature for a message or
data set. Hashes are created with an algorithm, or hash function, and people commonly use them to
compare sets of data. Since a hash is unique to a specific message, even minor changes to that
message result in a dramatically different hash, thereby alerting a user to potential tampering. A key

15. The Importance Of Wealth In The Life Of The Society
Wealth is freedom to do as one wishes, without being tied to owing all their life, the idea of having
carefree life of pleasure and fame. It is the admiration, regardless of the flaws that one might have, it
is an illusion. The idea of riches, is the artificially created concept of happiness, that drives people to
being more productive and useful as the members of the society.
The works that have inadvertently interconnected is their themes are happiness, psychology,
productive labour and freedom verses slavery. As what psychologically drives people to work harder
and better, as nothing else, is the unconscious desire to be a freer man. The best way to motivate
people, is giving them loan, that would provide the life they want, but at the same time restrict their
freedom to the extent, where they have no other choice but to contribute to the society, pay taxes and
work. Observationally, it is evident, that people are psychological slaves to their desires, and exactly
this desire, to have more than one needs, or to be someone that one is not, such as admiration for the
rich and famous, is easily manipulated by big corporations today.
Although Smith claims that the money do not carry value, when they are not used to purchase

19. The Importance Of Art In Art
In the rather limited amount of years I ve been on this Earth, I have found myself drawn to the world
of creativity. I kept it in my pocket constantly, always knowing that I d need creative insight in this
world to solve difficult problems. I always had art as an outlet for many things, and soon I became
addicted to colors, shades, and designs. It s very important to me, and I hope to go further with it. To
me, it is vexing when others hold an obvious distaste for trying anything new or creative. I don t hope
to change these individual s minds, as that would be impossible, but rather, I hope to educate them on
why having a creative, or artistic sense the new sixth sense if you will, is vital to being a part of
society. Being creative, or artistic, is important, because it allows me to break away from the stubborn
rules society has forced upon us. When I draw, I have no boundaries other than what I give myself. I
don t have to restrain what I draw, as no one else will see it unless I want them to. It s important to
have this break from the real world because without it, the world seems very bleak and downright
sorrowful. Artistic values are a necessity to me, because without them, I wouldn t have as many
opportunities to better the world around me. Art provides many career paths, such as comic books, or
even advertising. Every art community can have a huge impact on people s daily lives, without them
even realizing it. Take for instance, the billboard you drive by every day to work, or the comic strips
you read on your Sunday paper. Though seemingly insignificant in your eyes, they are so important in
the way you make decisions. When advertisements on TV are shown, no one really thinks about the
artistic aspects the creators use to influence decisions. A prime example of this, that everyone knows
purely by the now recognizable song, is Sarah McLachlan s ASPCA commercial seen constantly, with
the same set up. But what everyone might not know, is that it took creative insight to pair the sad
puppy images, with the depressing song. The artists knew that these things would guide you to feel
sympathetic, and maybe even adopt a puppy. The world would be very different if there were no artists

Advantages of having a distribution center in Mexico
One advantage to having a distribution center located in Mexico is that we wouldn t have to export the
food from America. This will cut down on cost because the consumers will be in a much closer
proximity to our product than if we were headquarter in America. This will allow our consumers to
receive their orders quicker, and more efficiently. Since the products transportation time will be cut
down, this will result in fresher food for the customers. Another advantage is we will be contributing
to the growth of the Mexican economy by hiring local citizens. This will also be beneficial to us
because the Mexican minimum wage is less than that in the United States.

21. Comparison Of Catch-22 And Joseph Heller s Idea Of War
What s the Catch?: An Examination of Catch 22 and Joseph Heller s Idea of War Joseph Heller s
Catch 22 is a comical novel of bombardier named Yossarian and his attempt to escape the war effort of
War World II. The novel does not contain a linear plot, which creates some confusion and uncertainty
in the story. Also, the conclusion is not a complete resolution, as Yossarian finally manages to escape
to Sweden by the end of novel, but that is not the resolution to the war. Therefore, if Yossarian
escaping the war is not the ultimate objective of Catch 22, then what is Heller trying to convey in his

What did matter was that everyone thought it existed and that was much worse... , since Catch 22 is
not real but people believe it is, it cannot be altered. (Heller 409) Heller also uses Catch 22 to
demonstrate the corruption of authority in war, for example, Colonel Cathcart is responsible for the
number of missions his squadron must fly but under Catch 22 he can continue to raise the number of
missions without a concrete reason. Heller further elaborates on the corruption of authority in war
through other elements of the novel. The hierarchy of authority in Catch 22 is parallel to a military
chain of commands, general, captain, private and etc, but one particular character holds much more
power than his authoritative title grants him, that is Ex. PFC Wintergreen, a multi demoted private
who is in charge of distribution and communication. Wintergreen is the lowest of low, yet he is able to
alter documents and mail to cause miscommunication between generals and higher ups. Through the
ironic characterization of Wintergreen, Heller conveys that the title position and its authority does not
always correspond to its proportional amount power. Most of the men in high command are selfish
and are only interested in themselves. As Colonel Cathcart expresses ambition to ascend up the
authorial ladder, he continues to increase

Final Paper #6
Discuss Steinbeck s theme of nature and man s place in it in the Red Pony. Use specific
quotes/examples from the story to indicate the points the author is making.
Nature In the Red Pony
Nature ignores human desire. The Red Pony is a short novel that consists four stories of a family
living on a western American ranch. In the book, the central theme is the cycle of life and death. All
four stories center on the phenomenon of nature. The principal issue of The Red Pony is the
exploration of man s complicated relationship with nature. It is presented through Jody s maturation.
For Steinbeck, all life, including human, is bound together. Even though people can occasionally make
decisions and change the circumstances, nature, indeed, is the leader of the whole novel and the world.
The Red Pony is filled with descriptions of natural phenomena weather, animals, and plants reflecting
events in the story. At the beginning of the Gift, Steinbeck emphasizes at daybreak Billy Buck
emerged from the bunkhouse, which shows that people wake up to work when the sun rises and goes
off to rest when the run draws. This indicates that nature controls human. As the story flows,

Water tasting has become a special skill among the tea drinkers during the Ming era, and this ability
was utilized by many scholar officials to demonstrate their sensual sensitivity and the sophistication of
their taste. In the late Ming period, the importance of water choice was still emphasized by tea experts
in their tea books and essays. On one hand, good water can help diffusing the scent of tea; on the other
hand, unsuitable and low quality water would destroy the taste and smell of tea, or would be even
harmful to drinkers health. Xu Cishu (1549 1604?), a well known tea expert who was raised in a

understandings of water, including the taste of water and the relationship between water and tea were
much simpler, because the flavor of water had not been stressed by tea experts yet. When Lu Yu (733

importance of the quality of water in tea drinking. In the fifth chapter of this classic, he had
categorized drinking water into three types and ranked them by their connections with tea.

25. Phillis Wheatley’s Fight against Slavery Essays
Phillis Wheatley is a gem of her time; the first African American woman to have her poetry published.
Though purchased as a slave, her life was far from most African Americans during the 17th century.
She was educated and became deeply rooted in her faith: Christianity. From an outsider, her life may
be viewed as an adopted child rather than a slave to the Wheatley family. However, she did not forget
where she came from or those less fortunate than herself. Wheatley used the education she was
afforded and her new found spirituality to fight against slavery through the use of words (751). One of
the greatest examples of this is her poem To the University of Cambridge, in New England addressed

duration of wealth and prosperity on Earth in contrast to the endless pain one might experience in hell

associates with slavery. Slavery is not only immoral behavior; it literally causes pain and destruction
to individuals. She uses the phrase human race divine as well as the words pupil and privileged to
describe the students superiority in society (27). This is important, why does she choose to enlighten
the most intelligent group of individuals, many of whom may practice slavery? Perhaps, she chose this
particular audience to convey her message because they would have the greatest ability; intelligence,
to see the error of slavery and have the status to put an end to it. Throughout the poem the tone is
earnest. Wheatley expresses intense seriousness when she begins to discuss religion and the
temptation of sin. For example, she uses phrases such as suppress the deadly serpent in its egg and

amount of soil moisture that the slaters tend to prefer. I chose this aspect, as moisture is a vital part in
the survival of this small creature. Internet sources provided information of the woodlice that shows
that they are from crustacean descent and formerly aquatic even though now they are terrestrial rather
than water dwelling. Slaters are generally found in moist, dark places with decomposing plant matter.

too much moisture (for example the 100mls) where slater numbers in those areas was very limited or
in particularly small amounts. They also did not enjoy the very dry soil as numbers in that area was

28. The Dehumanization Of Alison In The Miller s Tale
For thousands of years, women have struggled to survive in male dominated societies. They have been
treated as physically, mentally, and emotionally inferior to men, and have been subjected to second
class treatment. This is especially apparent in Geoffrey Chaucer s collection of short stories known as
The Canterbury Tales. Specifically, the crude language and imagery in The Miller s Tale portrays the
characterization of Alison as a sexually objectified woman in a male dominated society. The narrator s
crude language and tone when describing the competition for Alison s body dehumanizes her sexuality
altogether. Nicholas and Absolon fight for Alison s attention, with Nicholas, ...shapen him a wyle/This

For example, Alison s husband, John, ...heeld hire narwe in cage/ For she was wilde and yong, and he
was old (). John attempts to control Alison s free spirit by confining her a metaphorical cage. More
often than not, cages are associated with animals; therefore, the narrator asserts that Alison s sexuality
must be contained because she herself cannot control it. However, this is far from the truth. Alison
desires to be with Nicholas as much as Nicholas desires to be with her. Yet, because Alison is a
woman, it is not socially acceptable for her to be lustful and passionate. Therefore, the narrator
stereotypes her as wildly uncontrollable, and crudely describes her as ... a prymerole, a piggesnye/ For
any lord to leggen in his bedde/ Or yet for any good yeman to wedde (). This rather crass imagery
portrays her as an prey about to be ravished by its predator. In a predator and prey relationship, the
prey fall victim to predator because of social darwinism the idea that the strong prevail over the weak.
Thus, the narrator s comparison of Alison s sexual longings to an animal s illustrates the concept that
male sexual dominance is natural, and that women cannot control their sexuality and therefore must be
dominated. Likewise, the comparison of Alison to an animal portrays her as a victim rather than a
woman in control of her

understandable that with a busy student athlete schedule getting all Cs or higher in school is a
challenge, but the benefits of graduating college before going to the NBA outweigh the positives of
skipping college and going straight to the pros. High School stars do not oftem look into the
advantages college provides, which is a huge mistake. While some NBA prospects feel college is a

Theoretically, it would appear that athletes are more successful without college, but that is extremely
rare. First off, players considering going to the NBA will have their draft stock grow by graduating
college before going to the Pros. But in some disappointing examples, teams take gambles with
unknown teenagers and most times they do not pan out. A perfect example would be high school
phenom Leon Smith, he grew up homeless bouncing around from orphanage to orphanage, when an
NBA paycheck was placed in front of him he could not resist. The Dallas Mavericks were not aware
of Smith s tortured past when selecting him in the first round; playing only a handful amount of games
in the NBA his career did not work out (Coomes). Who knows how his career would have played out
if he went to college before the pros. Mark Tracy would agree with that story in his 2016 article where
he declares, It s no secret that the NBA would prefer most players to stay in college for longer. That
statement can be translated to the equation: longer one stays in college, higher the draft pick. Many
factors lead into scouts wanting players to compete in college for longer, one example from Kiki
Vandeweghe, Basketball operations VP for NBA, explains familiarity, The longer you stay in school
and play, the more information we would have about you... the more familiar we would be with your
game, the better predictor you can have for success.

political beliefs can easily be discerned through the writing. Wells grew up in poverty during the late
19th century in Kent, Great Britain, causing him to become interested in class conflict. His socialist
views come across in The Time Machine as it is his way to show the consequences of excessive
capitalism, thus the theme of social class and order emerges. Wells uses evolution as a form to
vindicate and reason the extreme schism of classes present in the book. The Time Traveller, which
seems to be an extension of Wells persona, implies the exclusive tendency of richer people [...] and the
widening gulf between them and the rude violence of the poor was a key factor in the splitting of the

Religion in the Byzantine empire was used as a means for war, but it also caused internal conflicts in
the empire, and it was used as a way to get political power. With the Islamic Caliphates, religion was

In both the Byzantine Empire and, with the Islamic Caliphates, religion was used as a means of war. In
the Byzantine Empire, in the middle of the 11th century, its borders began to be overrun by Turkish
invaders. The ruler of the Byzantine Empire turned to the Pope for help against these Turkish
