1. Panel 1: The Process

2. Firstly I took the picture I got from the photoshoot we conducted after we had
completed our media production shoot. From this I edited the image to a lighter
gradient, adding more to the contrast and light intensity. I then changed the colours to
black and white. I did this as I thought it would work well with my music video, which
features the sad present moments and sad memories in black and white, dull colours.
Looking out longingly wanting those happy times back, presenting how dull reality is
without Meg, her partner.

3. I then fit the black and white image onto corel
painter placing it in the right position and size
that I wanted. Ensuring that there was a few
layers between it and the canvas so that there
was space for the image to have any
adjustments made in the lower layers.
I then added the image I wanted to go
over top and be the ‘memory’ I was
looking at. This memory isn’t a
particularly happy one, meaning that it
also was dull and dark. Meaning that I
would have to adjust the opacity of each
image so the images overlapped and
presented each as a single image.
Here I have lowered the opacity on this image
so that it can overlap with the backing image of
myself.

4. After deleting and
rubbing out certain
areas that covered the
other image, I then
increased the colour
gradient of Meg’s red
coat to really bring out
the contrast in colour
and black and white.
This was to present
Meg as the happy
memory I was longing
for to return, so by
enhancing her and
brightening the colour
it helped her to stand
out in the picture.
Afterwards I added some cracks on the image to present the
broken relationship we have. I then went over the cracks I
drew in a white colour to soften the image more and still
ensure that they are visible but not as prominent. Using a ‘detail opaque acrylic’ brush I
drew the cracks on my image. This gave
a strong feel to the cracks.

5. I have been going through a few ideas for my font for panel 1, below are some of the ideas
and fonts I have experimented with.
Below is the CDs title in the font
‘Jenna Sue’. I’m pleasured with the
look, however I’m unsure about the
placement. Because I have a lot
going on in this panel its hard to
decide where I should put the titles.
Using the same font as seen to the
left I changed the placement to
space out the look more and made it
not look so congested. After doing so
I feel that the font and look makes
the cover look a bit unprofessional
and childish.
Since the other font wasn’t so
successful I attempted with a new
approach and look in mind. Below
is a change of font and placement,
making the overall look a lot more
simple and subtle. I liked this a lot,
however there was question about
how illegible the titles were.

6. Once the main image was completed I added white bars across the top and bottom of
my panel 1 to match panel 4 which had white bars. This way it made the outside of the
digipack match nicely and look consistent with the design.
To work with the white bar idea I settled with the simple font of ‘Lora’
which was still effective in promoting Natasha and the album.
