4. I found many different sources that
inspired me, one of the main influences I
saw and was really struck by was images
fromTaylor Swift’s music video “Style”.The
pictures around feature various poses and
features glass/mirror in one way or
another. This caused me to take some
pictures of Meg and I in similar positions
and attempt to replicate this idea in my
own way.
5. By holding up a
piece of paper I
was able to create
a similar look to
whatTaylor
presents in “Style”.
From this I edited
my face into the
‘mirror’ across
Meg’s face.
This is still in early stages
and will need more work
to make the ‘glass’ look
more lifelike. I quite like
the effect this gives off,
portraying that we are
(were) one, yet now
broken (hence the broken
glass). However by being
across the head it still
presents how the girls
may still be thinking of
each other.
6. I tried the same idea and picture
again, however using a closer
image of my eyes; to replicate
Taylor’s image (as seen above)
more. Again I felt that it looks
good, yet I’m still not sure about
the overall look. I will have to do
some more extensive work on
the ‘glass’ to make it look more
realistic and hopefully more
effective. I may also try another
slightly zoomed out image of my
face and possibly in colour.
7. By accident I created the image (as
seen to the left) while trying to create
the image seen on the previous slide.
This picture struck me as it really
stood out.The edges are very sharp
and our faces would definitely have
to be blended further to really
present an effective piece, so it’ll
need more work. But I liked the idea
of how our faces merged together in
a unique and different way,
presenting how Meg and I are one,
yet ‘split’ and ‘broken’.
8. My next idea which also
came fromTaylor Swift’s
video “Style” was again using
a glass effect, but to have it
more as someone
looking in a mirror. By this I mean that
when someone looks into a broken mirror
the whole image of them changes
depending on where the ‘cracks’ are,
therefore in some places the single image
would appear larger than in others.
I like this current image I have create,
especially as I'm currently working with
the idea of showing a ‘breaking’ or
‘broken’ bond/relationship which I feel the
glass represents. More colouration and
the drawing of the glass cracks would
have to be improved, but otherwise I
currently like the image that I have
created.
9. This next idea is still in the category which is
to present a broken relationship, while also
possibly presenting a bond between Meg
and I showing that we are/were one.
The image Meg over my eye reinforces that
idea while also showing how she is still apart
of my life but just perhaps a broken and
different piece of it. I like the current image I
have got, however it would need quite a lot
of work done if it were to be as effective as
Taylor’s image (seen at top of the page). This
would mainly include experimenting with
the background colours and making the
glass that I am holding look more realistic.
10. This particular idea came to me by chance. While experimenting with various images and
effects I came across the idea of having the image of myself ‘ripped’ open (like ripped
paper) to present a bright image of Meg in my mind. Presenting that I still think of her
and that she brightened my life, but the ripped part presents how the relationship was
torn and is now over. I like the idea, however am not sure how good it presents what I
have envisioned. If I am to continue with this one I would have to do some work on the
colouring and overall effect.
11. This was one of my original
ideas from the beginning of my
print production brainstorm.
The idea of overlapping my face
and Meg’s was to present (as
previously mentioned) how we
are one and were in love.
However the faded aspect could
represent the idea that our
feelings and bond is also fading.
In general I just really like the
effect this gives as it is eye
catching, yet subtle.What I
have done is good, but would
need further adjustments, such
as the smoothing of certain
edges.
12. This was also an
original idea of mine
which is still in its
earliest stages, this is
evident through the
lack of ‘smoothness’ to
the backing image of
Meg and I holding
hands. Like the other
ideas, this is meant to
present our fading
relationship and
significance in each
others lives, and that it
is obvious we were
together and happy at
one point, but now
that has changed.
