The student conducted research on different music video genres to inform their own music video production. They chose to do a pop song and aimed to convey that genre through colorful cuts and effects. Though some technical issues arose with camera settings and quality between shots, the student worked to improve editing, effects, and overall aesthetics. Peer feedback praised the varied coloring and black and white scenes but suggested adding more locations and a clearer storyline to enhance audience experience. The student agreed locations and a storyline could strengthen future videos.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
3. RESEARCH
My research was useful because I could see what
different kinds of videos they are and what different
genre videos look like and what different components
are in each genre, pop being colourful with lots of cuts,
and rap being dark with a lot of cuts that are usually on
the beat. That’s something that all videos seemed to
have in common is that when there is a cut, it is on the
beat.
Then I realised this I knew I had to do this with my video
as well. I liked the pop genre videos and how they
looked, so I decided to do a pop song. The song that I
chose was ‘Never Be The Same’ by Camila Cabello.
The research helped me with my video as I could keep
referring back to what different genres look like and how
to convey the genre I wanted to in my music video, to
make it look like the professionally directed piece I
wanted it to.
4. PLANNING
The song I chose was ‘Never be the same’ by Camila
Cabello I liked this song because it has a mixture of good
hard beats, and is also a nice flow and a relaxing song. I
planned to do a colourful lip-sync and then add in a
mixture of ‘memories’ of a happy relationship, in black
and white, to really emphasize the happiness that is being
sung about.
The basic idea of my video went to plan, as I did end up
doing a video that was black and white with the colourful
pops of the lip-syncing. The lip-sync and the other
‘memories’ were shot on different days with different
cameras, this was noticeable unfortunately as one of the
cameras were not set up properly, and I failed to check
the camera (I now know to do that). Because of this the
‘Memories’ segments of the video is slightly more blurry
than the lip-syncing bit. To try fix this as much as I could,
I played with the contrast, blacks and whites, to make it
pop more and look less blurry. I would say that this was
5. TIME MANAGEMENT
My time management could have been a little bit better. I
am easily distracted and find it easy to go off track and
not do as much work as I need to. Then I feel like I rush
to do the work needed, to complete the task on time. I
realised quite early on that I needed to get my head
down and not get as distracted so started to ignore
people, get my filming done, and get my video finished
without getting distracted, I managed to do this by
tuning people out who I would usually talk to, and just
concentrating on my video. At first my time management
was shocking, and I fell behind, but then it got a lot
better and I finished my video before the deadline.
6. TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
I found setting up the camera quite difficult. I didn’t really
understand the resolution etc. You can see this in the
camerawork on the black and white bits of the video, as it is
slightly blurry as I failed to follow and use the checklist of
setting up the cameras. It was shot in a higher resolution than it
should have been and this made the focus different and not as
good as the other parts of my video. This made it look strange,
but I managed to fix it. To avoid this in future, I need to get
someone to explain setting up the camera to me again in a way
that I will understand. I may even print off the checklist so then
its there next to me so I can see it and find it easier to follow.
7. TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
I found editing my video quite fun as I have not done anything like
this before. At first I didn’t know how to change the resolution, the
contrast and the saturation. I asked how to do these things and my
tutor showed me the bits I needed to use, and I played around with
the different settings until I got what it to what I wanted and
needed it to look like to look more professional. I reduced the
saturation right down to the bottom to make it black and white,
then brought out the blacks and whites in the settings to make it
more defined and better than almost grey looking. This worked
because it made it look as dream looking as I liked, it also made
the blurriness tone itself down and focus a little bit more. With the
frame size of the same bits, I had to blow up the video so it filled
the whole screen, as it as filmed on a different resolution. I did this
by double clicking on the cut I wanted to change and moving it to
where I thought was the best place. I also enjoyed changing the
colour tinting on the lip-synced parts, as this made it more
8. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
My work looks good as it looks like a music video someone might
have asked to be made the different colours and where the cuts
are make it look decent and much better than just a film that has
some music playing over it. It was only slightly creative as I wasn’t
very good at coming up with the idea, I just looked at existing
videos and came up with an idea of memories. It could be
improved by more colour maybe, and more locations and better
camera work, now I know how to use a camera a lot better. I liked
way it went black on the beat drops I thought was dramatic and
also quite fun, this showed I was cutting on the beat as well. I
didn’t lie how in some cuts I felt like I should have cut them
shorter but I couldn’t as I didn’t have enough footage. This shows
you need to shoot as much as possible to make I look the best it
can.
9. AUDIENCE APPEAL
I have kept the genre of my music and video exactly how I
planned it from the start as I wanted pop, and pop has a lot of
colourful cuts and different funky effects. I liked the way it
looked during the research part of this task. This is when my
idea first came about.
My video has a lot of colourful cuts, on the lip syncing bit the
cuts are never the same colours after each other, it was like a
pattern of different colours. I also put in ‘memories’ which
aren’t colourful, but the black and white gave it more f a
dreamy vibe. It doesn’t really matter that it isn’t all really
colourful, as that could be quite overwhelming for the eyes,
and not look as good as it does right now. I prefer having a
video that looks more professional than having a video full of
colour and it look silly.
11. FEEDBACK 1
What did you like about the product?
I liked the storyline and the colour changes used in the editing, it
made the video have an extra ‘pop’ in it, giving it a bit of character. I
also liked the fact that there were outfit changes, showing that the
characters were shot in different days giving the video/ storyline a
memory feel.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
Different locations/ shoots as it would make the storyline a bit more
detailed and complex and be able to cut to a new location when
editing and go back to the other location.
12. FEEDBACK 2
What did you like about the product?
I liked the variety of colour changing instead of the entire lip sync
being the exact same background. And about the fact that all the
scenes with Ben and Jodie are in black and white which could
resemble a flashback or that it is in the past. Also I liked that the
acting between Ben and Jodie wasn’t choreographed so it made the
video look more natural, as it basically was.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
There could’ve been a link between the visualisation and the lyrics
that could have created a story that is shown between the cast.
13. FEEDBACK 3
What did you like about the product?
I liked how Jodie's lip singing is well synced with the video and the
use of all the different colours at certain points.
I also liked the use of all the videos and the black and white scheme
in most of the videos, well chosen song along with the videos as it all
works out and is well synced.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
You could use a more varieties in location even if it’s a green screen
to give a more visual effect of connection to the song.
Overall a really enjoyable video.
14. PEER FEEDBACK
SUMMARY
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree that I could've used more varieties of different locations
to give my video more depth and to be more visually pleasing,
I also agree with the comment that was made about my video
having a storyline in it to make it easier to follow and more
pleasing to follow as there will have been a story.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I disagree with none of it as I think all of this criticism can be
used positively and taken on board to make a better video in
the future.
