PAMPHLETS:
 Pamphlets are visual media, which are
considered as mass media of health education.
 A pamphlet gives short description of different
aspects of a specific topic.
 The message can also be written in the form of
poem or song.
 It can also be written in the form of dialogue.
 Pamphlets can be produced in the form of
leaflets or folders to convey health message. a
leaflet consists od only one page and a folder
consists of more than one page but not hinged
together. A leaflet is also called a handbill.

PAMPHLETS:
 Some pamphlets may also include relevant
pictures to illustrate the points of teaching.
 The pamphlet should be as brief as possible.
 It should not exceed more than four pages.
 Since pamphlets are distributed widely for mass
education they should be produced in large
scale.
 Pamphlets can also be distributed to the
learners of a training group, to family members,
in FP/MCH clinics, hospital OPD etc.
 Pamphlet should also be pre-tested before
producing them for public use.

PAMPHLETS:
 Pamphlet is a paper that can be folded into two
or three or five and the matter can be printed
either on a single or on both sides.
 In other words, a pamphlet is an unbound
booklet without a hard cover or binding.

PURPOSE OF PAMPHLETS:
 To mobilize people to support a cause
 To advertise a specific events
 To popularize a slogan or a message
 To explain an issue to the community
 To inform people of their health rights
 To make a support for a campaign

HOW DO I START MY PAMPHLETS:
1. Decide on a purpose or theme of your brochure.
 Your purpose is : Hygiene in the School
Kitchen.
2. Choose information to go in the brochure.
 Include only the absolute main points.
 Remember that a brochure is pretty small
 in size so u won’t be able fit everything.
 And stay focused on the theme.
3. Be concise
 After you decided what to include, think about how to say
it.

HOW DO I LAY OUT MY PAMPHLETS:
1. Choose an eye catching main title & graphic for the front
of brochure. Something that will make
people want to look at it.
2. Put the most important information on the
inside panel of brochure, when the brochure
is fully opened, this is what reader will see.
3. Use clear sub-headings to break-up the
information on the inside. You want readers
to easily get what’s most important. A big
solid block of text will intimate readers.
4. Use an easy-to-read fonts.

HOW DO I LAY OUT MY PAMPHLETS:
5. Be colorful. Adding color & graphics
throughout the brochure will break up
information & make the brochure more
enticing.
6. Make the font of the body text as large as possible. 18 to
20 – the size.
7. Heading should be much larger than the body text and
make them stand out by using a different colors.

(SPELLING, GRAMMAR & PUNCTUATION)
 Use formal (Correct) grammar, spelling and
punctuations.
 Use clear concise language.
 Use clear headings, eye catching diagrams and
color to attract readers attentions

PREPARING PAMPHLETS:
 Discuss the purpose, the message, the target
people and content.
 Discuss the quality and quantity of pamphlets
 Each side should also carry the organization’s
logo and name.
 Keep the language simply by avoiding long and
complicated sentences.
 The best pamphlet are short & simple.
 All facts should be correct and scientific.

STYLE FOR ORGANIZING A PAMPHLETS:
 Tutorial Style: this is the first and the most
basic style of pamphlet. It gives information a
particular subject or explains how something is
done.
 Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) Style: this
is a very effective technique to get an answer to
any questions fast.
 Testimonial Style: this is a story telling model.
A story is narrated about the pamphlet issues.
The concepts are introduced one by one
historically. This makes the learning the process
easier for most learner.

ADVANTAGES OF PAMPHLETS:
 Best method of dissemination of information or a
message to larger group of people.
 Save time and resources in dissemination of
information to a large group of people.
 Help in propagating messages rapidly in mass
scale through wide distribution. They’re easy to
carry with from place to place.
 People can read them at their free time and
understand the message well.
 The first readers can pass the read pamphlets to
other to read.
 Can be kept safe to read again which help as
reminder of the message.

ADVANTAGES OF PAMPHLETS:
 Easier to prepare and produce in large scale at
low cost.
 When there is a problem of printing pamphlets
they can be written by hand to a limited number
to meet the immediate need. Carbon copies can
also be produced in limited number.

DISADVANTAGES OF PAMPHLETS:
 Provide only one-way of communication.
 Printing service may not be available
everywhere especially in rural places and small
towns.
 The main disadvantage of pamphlet is that they
can waste a lot of money and time if printed
pamphlets are not distributed properly.
 Only literate & educated people can be
benefited with this educational aid. Not useful for
illiterates.
