Micro Celebrity Performance Analysis
Beginning around 2003, new kinds of websites and services appeared that made it much easier for
people to assemble multifaceted networks devoted to the cataloguing and exchange of personal
information and content. On Valentine s Day of 2005 one of these multifaceted networks, YouTube,
was founded. The ability to Broadcast Yourself through user generated videos opened space for new
digital communities where people could create videos, share them, comment on them, and manifest
large public responses to them. Seven years later YouTube is now home to billions of viewers who
upload more than 100 million videos per day and is the hub for the self marketing of, the now coined,
Micro Celebrity one who gains a cult or mainstream following due to ... Show more content on

However, due to the affinity brought about by the structure of YouTube as a community driven SNS,
this selective performance becomes a fully adopted identity. This selective identity is who your
audience knows you by as this is the only aspect of yourself you portray to them. It is also who they
have decided to embrace into their community and create bonds of affinity with. Therefore for
YouTube personalities, they become this person to the world rather than simply portray it. It is as
simple as being, for example an actor plays the part of a character in a movie and then takes off that
mask when they step back into the real world. Rather it is showcasing a selective part of your true
personality and then becoming that part of your personality to the world. This is the difference
between the new micro YouTube celebrity and traditional celebrities:

The Conflict Between Israel And Palestine Essay
The conflict between Israel and Palestine has raged on since Israel s founding in the 1940s, the
solution to this problem is not always straight forward or clear. It seems like everyone has formed
their opinions and are stuck in their ways. The United Nations has even seem to accept the conflict as
a certainty and for a large part does not wish to address it (Baker). However just because this problem
is complex doesn t mean there is no hope for a solution. This conflict is generally seen as a war over
where the border between these two states should lay, and due to the increase of extremism on both
sides, whether both states should even exist or one state should prevail alone. However there is more
complexities to the conflict then finding a mutual place for the border be drawn. There is the conflict
over who will control the Holy City, Jerusalem. In addition there are concerns on both sides over
security and the internal economy of each state. Finally is the problem that even if an agreement to
form the two states were met and agreed upon, would these two vastly different and deeply
opinionated states even be able to peaceful co exist in the future. With all the history and politics
considered, for me the answer becomes clear; Palestine has the right to be a state and that state should
in large part reflect their position they have presented to the international community. The outbreak of
this conflict would begin in 1948, however you can start the modern history of

Chinese Dynasty Research Paper
The development the Chinese state and political institutions are classical Chinese government that is
based on the dynastic cycle. Which says that a family would start their rule with strength, would grow
weaker, and then another dynasty would take its place. Each dynasty that was ruling had the order of
heaven and once they lost it another dynasty would take its place. Confucianism grew to be a big
inspiration on the political state of China, like it became a highly centralized and bureaucratic
government. People gained government offices by earning them through passing the civil service
exams, which were based on Confucian classics.

They did this by allowing a group to get together to promote peace of the world to others. Also the use
of iron helped civilizations make stronger and better weapons. Cause the side with the best weapons
usually were the ones to win. Gunpowder, horse riders, cannons, stronger armor were all of the
elements you need to win. Every time there was a major technological development, the side that
adopted it first gained power over all the others.
E: The class structure and gender relations in classical China are the class structures that are dictated
by occupation. At the upper class is were the scholar gentry class of highly educated landowners that
held almost all of the government positions. Then there are the skilled merchants and farmers, then the
unskilled workers and peasants, then merchants. Which they thought they did not work hard and
benefited from other peoples work.
F: The class that came to dominate Chinese government was the scholar gentry class of land owning
honorable elites. They gained power by being educated and gaining government positions because the
public service exams were very challenging and only the rich had time to study. The poor never had

A Perfect Date Destination For Shallow Wallet Students
Cannella s A Perfect Date Destination for Shallow Wallet Students It s Friday morning and you re
waiting in line at Taco Bell. You ve decided that pay day means you can splurge a bit on your
breakfast; No oatmeal today. Just as you are about to sink your teeth into your Dorito dusted taco, a
thought awakens in your mind, wedged between your impending dread of upcoming midterms and
that load of laundry you were supposed to do a week ago. How could you have forgotten that it s your
significant others birthday? Better question, how are you going to afford that fancy dinner you ve been

Stop gaping, I m not kidding. You can accomplish that fancy dinner to woo your loved one for about
the price you paid for that video game you got last week. For a normal dinner that might be considered
checking account suicide, but for the occasion you won t find much better. Even Olive Garden will run
you about the same bill.
With your anxiety subsiding, you can finally sink your teeth into some good food. And I will stress
that it is very good food. This meal will come in courses which begin with a light appetizer of
bruschetta to start your evening. Now, I m not the biggest fan of raw tomato, and these little toasted
baguette slices are piled high with it. However, I really enjoyed the tart balsamic vinegar, little tangy
swirl of goat cheese, and yes, even the tomato mound. If this restaurant could get me to enjoy one of
the few ingredients I didn t like, I knew what was to come would be a delight.
Next up is your choice of soup or salad. I can t comment much on the state of their salad mastery with
my fiancée and me both opting to indulge in one of the soup options. Conversely, the minestrone soup
they served me must have been dreamt up by a brilliant chef because that was the greatest I ve ever
had. It was as if someone leafed through an abundant garden to find only its finest offerings and
promptly place them in my bowl. The tomato broth complimented each ingredient with a piquant

terms of the development of individual skills, the resolution of issues, coordination of effort,
communication and skills of innovation are all skill which there is a growing demand for.
I have found a job in the E nails shop which is located in Barrington mall from November 2015 till

Descriptive Essay On Vikings
The air smelling of wings and burgers whipped my hair behind my ears as my dad s best friend threw
me up on his shoulders in celebration. Adrian Peterson had just rushed two yards for the Viking s
fourth touchdown of the night. Five minutes to go in the quarter and the NFC Championship game
was tied. A combination of anticipation and excitement swirled within me as my dad and uncle are
discussing our Super Bowl XLIV tickets. The energy permeating through the G Allen s Restaurant and
Sports Bar was electrifying as Ryan Longwell of the Minnesota Vikings kicked off to Courtney Roby
with 4:52 left in the fourth and final quarter. The New Orleans Saints, with a chance to win, only gain
eight yards in four plays. Just like that, the Minnesota Vikings have possession with over two minutes
left. Just like that, my dad s dream of a Vikings Super Bowl is possible. Brett Favre and Adrian
Peterson successfully led the Vikings all the way to the New Orleans 33 yard line. My dad and I

I clearly remember the moments of pure joy and excitement, but I will also never forget how
heartbroken I felt when the Vikings lost. More importantly, though, it was the place where my dad and
I really bonded over something. As a kid, I always remember loving my dad so much, but this is really
when he became my best friend. Ever since, we have watched every Vikings game together for nearly
eight years. Not only do we love to watch and talk about football, but we play fantasy football in the
same league I even beat him in the championship game last year! Clearly, I love football; but what I
love most about it is that it is something I get to share with my dad. Overall, G Allens will always
have a special place in my heart not only because that is where it was broken eight years ago but
because it is what brought me my best

Brand Management and Plenitude Skincare Line
L Oreal of Paris: Bringing Class to Mass with Plenitude
L Oreal, a long time hair care, skincare, and cosmetic leader, was faced with a positioning problem of
their Plenitude skincare line. The Plenitude line, which included cleansers and moisturizers had been a
smashing success in the French skincare market following its 1982 introduction and was introduced in
the U.S. market in 1988. It had grown quickly to become the #2 brand in the market, behind Oil of
Olay. Plenitude was marketed as an upscale product bringing new people into mass channels from
department stores. A four year sales plateau was reached and their #2 position was lost to Pond s.

Acceptors of Oil of Olay found it to be light and reasonably priced where acceptors of Pond s saw it as
reliable, accessible and reasonably priced. Oil of Olay was seen as the traditional, generational brand
where Pond s brand imagery was older, down to earth. The Shelf Shopping Study for Plenitude
revealed positive aspects that included appreciating the continual release of newer products and
research and the multiple product line. The negative aspects were primarily based upon the large
product line that continually offered new products creating confusion and frustration. The same study
for Oil of Olay revealed the brand image to be seen as old fashioned but with long standing reliability.
The brand image of Pond s was viewed as being really heavy and gross and as a product for old ladies
. The L Oreal name is considered as a step up and as having a French twist. Often times, it is viewed
as being really expensive with packaging that is chaotic and complicated. However, the extensive
detail and information was considered an attribute to some customers. Based upon all of the above
information they can develop their strategy. My proposals are as follows:
1. Straddle their positioning by creating a best of both worlds targeting young and older consumers.
They need to continue marketing their Plenitude treatment products to the older consumers but also

Improving Vehicular Network And Road Safety Essay
Abstract Although the spread in Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) research, eventual high end
vehicles are conventional to under utilize the on Board computation, communication, and Storage
resources. So, there is need to move from conventional VANET to Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC)
by combining VANET with cloud computing. Also, VANETs use an open medium for communication
and consequently are exposed to security threats that impact their Reliability. We address some major
design concern that will affect the future performance of VCC and provide a set of security and
privacy protecting protocols. We address relatively unique security challenges resulted by features of
VCC e.g. The challenges of authentication of high mobility vehicles and the complexity of trust
relationships among multi players caused by intermittent short range communication. We propose data
trust security model designed for VANETs based on social network theories. Our intention is to help
readers better understand the fundamental vehicular cloud computing mechanisms and mark out the
potential applications for improving vehicular network and road safety. We present a extensive
taxonomy of vehicular networking and analysis between MCC and VCC. In addition, we explain the
VCC architecture, and the extensive application scenario. Each vehicle in VCC can connect to the
other vehicles or the network infrastructures by using the vehicle to vehicle or the vehicle to
infrastructure network communication. We

How Electronic and Hybrid Engines Can be Used Instead of...
How can the electronic and hybrid engines be used instead of the petrol engines
Introduction:
Hybrid engines and electric and other forms of fuel are being tried the world over on account of
multiple problems. It is not only for vehicles but also for the industries that use fossil fuels and
chemicals for manufacture. The primary problem is the pollution of the air, water and the entire planet
on account of fossil fuel use. Not all fossil fuel forms are harmful. For example CNG, compressed
natural gas is less harmful. The use of fossil fuel has deadly repercussions on human, animal and plant
health. In other words all life on the planet can be at jeopardy. The shocking truth is revealed as
follows: John Vidal of the Guardian reported that millions die in Asia on account of vehicle pollution.
According to the report he quoted, issued by a consortium of universities working in conjunction with
the UN, most of the deaths in Asia are caused by air pollution and fifty two million people died by
particle air pollution in 2010. (Vidal, 2012, p. 4)
Air pollution causes cognitive decline, strokes and heart attacks. Thus with the rise in automobile use
the air pollution in India is far above the legal limits of 100 micrograms per cubic metre. This can rise
to nearly 1,000 microgram s during festivals like Diwali. (Vidal, 2012, p. 4) Worldwide, over three
million people a year died from air pollution in 2010, and air pollution is ranked world s top 10 lists of
killer diseases. Some

Women in Hills like White Elephants and The Yellow...
Through history women have fought for equal rights and freedom. This tension is derived from men;
society, in general; and within a woman herself. In the nineteenth century, women in literature were
often portrayed as submissive to men. Literature of this period often characterized women as
oppressed by society, as well as by the male influences in their lives. This era is especially interesting
because it is a time in modern society when women were still treated as second class citizens. Two
interesting short stories, Hills like White Elephants and The Yellow Wallpaper focus on a woman s
plight near the turn of the nineteenth century. Both authors, Hemmingway and Gilman, leave an open
end to the stories and allow readers to create ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instructed to abandon her intellectual life and avoid stimulating company, she sinks into a still deeper
depression invisible to her husband, which is also her doctor, who believes he knows what is best for
her. Alone in the yellow wallpapered nursery of a rented house, she descends into madness. Everyday
she keeps looking at the torn yellow wallpaper. While there, she is forbidden to write in her journal, as
it indulges her imagination, which is not in accordance with her husband s wishes. Despite this, the
narrator makes entries in the journal whenever she has the opportunity. Through these entries we learn
of her obsession with the wallpaper in her bedroom. She is enthralled with it and studies the paper for
hours. She thinks she sees a woman trapped behind the pattern in the paper. The story reaches its
climax when her husband must force his way into the bedroom, only to find that his wife has pulled
the paper off the wall and is crawling around the perimeter of the room.
Hills Like White Elephants and The Yellow Wallpaper are both about couples dealing with a delicate
situation in a time when the power of men over women is obvious. The characters in both stories show
that the man has more control and authority than the woman. Hills Like White Elephants demonstrates
this through the use of the setting, time restrictions, and poor communication exhibited by the couple.

conservative therapy, traditional Chinese acupuncture, or sham acupuncture. Each group received six

conservative treatment group contained 316 participants who received ten consultation visits to the

The Slave System By Solomon Northup
The slave system was kept in existence for many years since the early 1600 s. A never ending cycle of
pain, and harsh conditions From being in 12 years of slavery, Solomon Northup recounts the time
when he had once been a free man to be kidnapped of that freedom back in 1841. The relationships
that Northup encountered were neither positive or negative . From friends he gained or his slave
masters, the relationships were shaped by slavery and helped intact the slave system. In those
relationships, how the supervisors of the slaves treated them impacted the slaves work ethic and the
friendships that were made during this harsh time, thus supporting the slave system. One of the first
social relationship Solomon encountered when he entered slavery was James H. Burch. When
Solomon was captured, Burch chained him up and put him in a cell; something Solomon was not used
to at all. Although he claimed he was a free man, Burch beat him every time he said he was, and
forcing Solomon to say he was from Georgia. Burch frightened Solomon with his beatings and
threatening words and because of how cruel Burch was, Solomon kept his mouth shut and refused to
say he was a free man to any of his future slave masters, fearing of the treatment again. With James
Burch treating the slaves in that matter; implemented to the system of slavery, forcing the slaves to
become who they wanted them to be. That allowed slaves to follow orders, and not to protest against
the supervisor s treatment,

Mattel s Lack Of Success
Introduction In 2009, the renowned toy giant Mattel attempted to globalize of one of America s most
popular toys, Barbie, to China. Chinese consumers had been purchasing Barbie dolls from local
department and toys stores throughout China. With this, Mattel saw potential, and they decided to
open a six story, 35,000 square feet, 30 million dollar facility in Shanghai, entirely dedicated to Barbie
named House of Barbie. Not only did they sell Barbie dolls, but they also sold Barbie clothes,
furniture, and accessories. The store even housed a coffee shop and a Barbie themed restaurant.
Undoubtedly the vision was to establish Barbie as a prestigious brand in the Chinese market (Medina

Product familiarity may best determine how a company or brand enters the new market. The company
must decide if this product is new to the area or is already an established need or brand (Wang 2012).
Lifestyle is essential to making globalization a success. Companies should consider what the society
values and how they identify (Wang 2012).
Addressing these issues before attempting to globalize is key to overseas success. Mattel erred in each
of these issues, which ultimately led to their failure.
Mattel Performance on Six Issues Mattel failed in China because they missed key components in each
of the six identified issues. Localization is primarily the most important cultural characteristics to
address when considering overseas expansion. Mattel attempted to address localization; however, they
may have localized too much. The company introduced a doll with Chinese physical characteristics
and name, Ling. However, the original, blond, fair skinned Barbie was more popular in China than
Ling (Wang 2012). Thus, the disconnection was not with the doll herself, but rather with the concept
of the store. Gupta proposes that expansion to China requires the precise combination of no
localization and complete localization (2011). Starting with such a large store and grand concept did
not allow for Mattel to experiment

Political Allegories In Dante s Inferno
Inferno is an allegory of the pilgrimage of the soul and Dante draws on the mythological dimensions
to convey and express the spiritual journey that he is on. Dante construct of hell is his own and his
judgement is reflected by the societal norms which were present during his time. Allegory, in the
traditional definition is a story or poem that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a
moral or political one. Allegorically, the journey which Dante goes on represent the journey of the
soul to reaching spiritual enlightenment. The allegory used in Inferno is unique in the sense that there
is mimetic realism even though there is a fantastical setting. Dante uses political allegories in order to

Up until Canto IX, Virgil has been able to talk his way into the various circles, despite Dante being
human. His words have no value against those who had the guts to oppose Christ so Virgil s words
present no threat to them. This moment when the poets are refused entry shows how words alone, no
longer have the ability to get them out of any situation. Words now are not enough to save one in the
face of sin. The three female Furies have a threatening and fearful presence. Allegorically their
appearance makes us conscious of the threat of sin. The threat of looking into their eyes shows how
witnessing sin is dangerous and how the perfect female nature is rendered perverse. Evil could appeal
to Dante and the reader s sympathies before but this circle is a playground for evil. The three female
Furies show us that Dante s truth and morals have no standing in Hell. Even though this is his
construct of hell, he doesn t have control over what happens. The sinners thus render the poets
immobile. Manipulation can be seen as lying or twisting the truth and thus allegory and symbolism, in
Inferno, although having the ability to depict truth, they also have the ability to alter ones

Comparing Winter s Tale And My Brother, The Artist, At Seven
In Mark Helprin s novel, Winter s Tale, and Levine s poem, My Brother, the Artist, at Seven , the
characters grow spiritually, Rising Above themselves. The characters in both the novel and the poem
share this charactersistic. Rising above one s self is not only a figurative theme in the characters, but
also a literal theme. Beverly Penn, Peter Lake, and Cecile Mature in Helprin s novel, as well as the
young boy in Levine s poem, all show similiar traits of rising above. Beverly Penn rises above herself
in some very meaningful circumstances in Mark Helprin s novel, Winter s Tale. One moment in the
novel in which Beverly is shown rising above herself is when, Peter Lake watches as she plays the
piano. The novel states, He had unspeakable admiration for the way she had risen from obvious
weakness to court with such passion the elusive and demanding notes that he had heard. She had done
what Mootfowl had always argued. She had risen above herself, right before his eyes she had risen,
and then fallen back, weakened, vulnerable, alone (Helprin, Pg. 127). Beverly pushed through the
weakness she was experiencing from consumption, and conquered it. She was doing something that
she loved and doing it strikingly well. This was Beverly rising above herself, challenging herself to
overcome her weakness. Beverly is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

It affected Amir because he had a high regard on their relationship. A boy who won t stand up for
himself becomes a man that can t stand up to anything . This quote foreshadows how Amir would not
stand up neither for himself nor for other people such as Hassan. Indeed Amir have made several
mistakes , for instance when he was spectator of his half brother getting sexually assaulted but did not
try to rescue him . Amir did not act well but from another perspective he benefited from his bad
actions to change into a better person, he learned how to be patient and how to catch up for bad sins.
Thereupon, personality can not be toughen without adversities , they made Amir the person that he
became, a man who stood up for his dad and who sought the best for Sohrab . Fear can lead to several
mistakes. During the kite tournament, while Hassan wanted to grab the blue kite for Amir ( Hassan

History of the Ponzi Scheme Essay
History of the Ponzi Scheme Is named after con man Charles Ponzi, a Ponzi scheme is an investment
fraud that involves the payment of purported returns to existing investors from funds contributed by
new investors.(SEC, 2013) . Typically Ponzi Schemes entice investors with ensuring higher returns
rather than alternative investments, in the form of short term returns that are either abnormally high or
remarkably consistent. Top broker, Bernie Madoff, was found guilty of this scheme, which will further
be discussed below The essential elements of a Ponzi scheme. These types of schemes are better
understood by using an example, for instance say you collect $100 from each investor and promise
you will double it in a month. But, you do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Early on, Madoff started his scheme with family and friends and he eventually expanded his circle
larger. He was able to extend his fraud for so long due to the marketing of his investment business
being by word of mouth rather than publicized. Whenever his business leaked, he would use his charm
and reputation built up in the past to take back control of the situation. The SEC s actions and role in
the case As long ago as 1999, an independent investigator, Harry Markopolos, concluded that Madoff
s success could not be legitimate. In 1995, he sent the US Securities and Exchange Commission a 17
page document titled: The World s Largest Hedge Fund Is a Fraud . Two years later the SEC found no
evidence of fraud after an investigation that seems to only involve just a little more effort than simply
asking Madoff if he was a criminal or not, and then excepting his answer. Red Flags of a Ponzi
Scheme Ponzi Scheme s most of the time are easy to identify and contain similar charcteristics. Some
characteristics and their relation to this case specifically include: high investment returns with little or
no risk Madoff s scheme was constantly generating high returns which appealed to many investors
interested in enhancing their wealth. They did not see the risk involved because there appeared to be
none in the hands of Madoff as he was well respected and trusted financially. overly consistent returns

Theu.s. Gaap And Ifrs
According to current literature, the global movement to adopt International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS) is the paramount financial reporting issue of the 21st century. More Than 100
countries in the world use IFRS as the basis of financial reporting.
The U.S adopted the idea of IFRS in 2002. Based on a proposed timetable developed by the U.S.
Securities and Exchange Commission, acceptance of IFRS is critically important to management
accountants, auditors, financial analysts, corporate executives, and others involved with financial
Reporting. In this paper, I am going to talk first about the differences between U.S. GAAP and IFRS;

On the other hand, the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) also require that the
comparative information should be disclosed with respect to the previous period for all amounts
reported in the current period s financial statements. (.imanet.p,)
2. Layout of the balance sheet and income statement: This financial statement summarizes a company
s assets, liabilities, and shareholders equitant in it period. These balance sheets give investors an idea
as to what the company owns and owes. The US GAAP didn t have a general requirement to prepare
the balance sheet and income statement in accordance with a specific layout, on another hand,
companies most present the detail in requirements in Regulation S X (Regulation S X is a prescribed
regulation that lays out the specific format and content of financial reports[1]). It is cited as 17 C.F.R.

prescribe a standard layout, but should include a list of minimum line items. Those minimum line
items are less prescriptive than the requirements in Regulation SX. (ey.com/US/en/Issues/IFRS)

The Colonialization Of North America During The Colonial...
North America during the Colonial period had resources the Europeans dreamed about. For example,
the mighty Mississippi River for trading and transportation, the pine trees for lumber, and the rich soil
in the south for growing crops. The Europeans saw the potential of economic opportunity in North
America. The Native Americans viewed North America as sacred and took care of their land as much
as possible. When the Europeans arrived, the deer population plummeted due to the need of meat from
the Europeans. The New England colonists realized that the soil in New England was unreliable
because of the unfertile soil and the weather. When the Europeans came to North America, they
carried numerous diseases with them. Keep in mind that the Europeans traveled by ship for months
and some ships had an infestation of rats and mosquitoes. Vaccinations did not exist during the
Exploration years so, explorers and the Natives had diseases of small pox, pneumonia, and yellow
fever. The Native Americans were dying by the numbers because of the European diseases that they
came into contact with the Europeans. Several Native American tribes had healers which the
Europeans thought were Doctors. The Native Americans used nuts, berries, and certain plants to heal
either a snakebite, scratch, wounds from animal attacks, and skin diseases. The Europeans thought that
some of the Indian practices were witchcraft because of the heavy European Christian beliefs. The
Native Americans actually helped to cure several European diseases. When the first Colonists of
Virginia arrived, the population was declining because of the disease and starvation. As time went on,
the immigrants from Europe began to increase due to the Civil War, crowded population, or famine.
The Europeans tasted other different food sources that the Native Americans had grown such as,
pumpkins, potatoes, beans, corn, tomatoes, and squash. These crops were foreign to the Europeans.
The Native Americans used food as a peace offering to the Europeans as a sign of hospitality. The
trade between the Europeans and the Indians were challenging according to the Europeans. Some of
the Native Americans were open to trading and exchanging ideas to the Europeans. As long as

Low Socioeconomic Status Essay
In 2013, 23.3% of the United States population consisted of children ages 0 to 17, 20% of those
children lived in poverty and about 15.8 million children lived in households that were classified as
food insecure (America s Children: Key National Indicators Of Well being, 2015). Perceptions of
students with low socioeconomic status (SES) combined with other circumstances certainly play a role
in their development and achievements. SES is conditional, imposed on people, used for comparisons,
and based on economics, opportunity, and influence. When considering SES, individuals incomes,
occupations, education, neighborhood, and political power are took into consideration. A school s SES
is determined by the neighborhood where it is located and by the SES of the children and families in
attendance at that school (Socioeconomic Status, 2009). Students in low SES homes often experience
many negative experiences outside of school that can impact their academic performance. Time
availability and financial resources for academic support are struggles of families of low SES status
(Education and Socioeconomic Status Factsheet, 2015). Students of families with low SES status have
fewer books, fewer opportunities for reading, greater exposure to aggression and violence, fewer

Charting student performance, understanding learning standards, using appropriate instructional
strategies, implementing rubrics and benchmark testing, and addressing identified learning gaps with
appropriate interventions are all major steps in ensuring low SES students, or all students, are

success requires a great deal of resources that often times many schools do not have and cannot

The Guerrilla Warfare And The American Civil War
The guerrilla warfare along the Kansas Missouri border has generally been considered an outlier of the
American Civil War. While interesting to read about, its impact on the war and on Union policies were
not always important to historians. Early in the study of this conflict historians chose to focus on the
leaders and actions of the guerrillas. More recently, scholars have endeavored to understand how
guerrilla war in the Civil War affected the society in which it took place. This shift in historiographical
trends is, in part, due to the rise in guerrilla warfare in the present. However, questions still remain
over how this conflict fits in with the rest of America s military experience. Questions like, does the
guerrilla warfare prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No other mention is made about guerrilla warfare. Because his work was published in 1973, when
attention was still predominantly focused on the conventional engagements of the Civil War, this
oversight is unsurprising though certainly lamentable. Despite the lack of attention given to the
irregular forces supporting the Union and Confederate Armies, those men engaged in raids and
operations that contribute to a deeper understanding of why, during the American Civil War, a strategy
of annihilation was supported by the Union as their strategy against the Confederacy. While the
development of guerrilla war does not factor into Weigley s thesis that the United States has moved
from a strategy of attrition to a strategy of annihilation, it is important in understanding how and why
the United States made that change. For Weigley, this change came during the American Civil War
when Grant became Commanding General of the Army. Grant did not believe the war could be won
with a single, decisive victory against the Confederate Army, rather, he initiated a strategy to destroy
the Confederate Armies through many battles and by attacking their economic resources. The orders to
begin destroying the war resources of the Confederacy may have had their roots in the Western and
Trans Mississippian Theaters of the war because of frustrations associated with guerrilla war. Early in
the war in Kansas, James Lane organized a mixed brigade to

Criminal Profiling Case Study
Profiling is the recording and analysis of a person s psychological and behavioral characteristics, it
helps to assess or predict their capabilities in a certain area or to assist in identifying a particular
subgroup of people. Looking at the makeup of a crime can help to identify who the subject is. All
suspects have different signatures and modus operandi that connect crime to person, and it would not
be successful without connecting the crime scene to the background of a person through psychology.
Below are three criminal cases that used psychology and criminal profiling to have a result in
successful trackings. The first case, that of Joseph Paul Franklin, also recognized as The Racist Killer ,
was born into a poor Alabama family. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The killings began in 1979 and went on for a long twenty two months. Looking at the victims of the
killings, they all fit one profile, young, African American males taken in public areas during daylight.
(Five). Although Williams was only convicted of the murders of two adults, he was also thought to be
the one behind the death of more than twenty others. The string of cases of the twenty others was
known as the Atlanta Child Murders, after the discovery of two young black children were found
murdered and hidden under bushes. As more victims were being found, Williams changed his modus
operandi. He went from hiding the bodies to dumping them into the Chattahoochee River, allowing
investigators to get a better lead and staking out all 14 of the bridges above the river. a group of law
enforcement officers on surveillance at the river heard a loud splash around 3 a.m. On the bridge, a car
fled the scene, and the police pursued and pulled it over. The driver was Wayne Williams, a 22 year
old black freelance photographer. The police had no idea what the splash was at this point, so they had
to let Williams go (Wayne). Just a few days later a body was found in the river, allowing investigators
to call Williams back in for questioning. He was then arrested and given two subsequent life sentences
for the murder of two men, and not being convicted of the other twenty murders they thought to be

Evaluation Of The Systems Functions, Vulnerabilities, And...
SCADA Systems is considered a vital aspect of Critical Infrastructures, which is tied to all other
Critical Infrastructures. In the modern age where automation is emerging as a normal part of daily
function, the need for a system to monitor and control these automated processes is required. While
automation yields an overabundance of benefits such as reduced operating costs and efficiency, it is
not without flaws. SCADA Systems are like any other program in the sense that it is vulnerable to
attacks. As the automation continues to evolve, security threats will parallel the growth and demands
innovative protection methods. This paper will provide an overview of SCADA Systems functions,
vulnerabilities, and protection suggestions.
What is SCADA and why do we as a society need it? Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA) systems are a distributed network over a large geographic area to control industrial
automated services. Some examples are the electric energy systems, nuclear energy systems, water
and sewage treatment facilities, and transportation systems. Think of a factory with a foreman
overseeing production. The foreman is monitoring employee s activities to ensure the production is as
efficient, safe, and of the highest quality possible.
SCADA is a program that could be considered a foreman of all Critical Infrastructures (CI) programs
by monitoring and control each individual systems processes. Just like the factory foreman, SCADA

First Binary Pulsar Research Paper
The1993 Nobel prize for physics was a shared award between Russell Alan Hulse and Joseph Hooton
Taylor Jr. Russell Alan Hulse who was born on November 28,1950 in New York was an American
physicist, he studied at cooper union college and earned a Ph.D. degree in physics in 1975 from the
university of Massachusetts. Joseph H. Taylor Jr. born March 24,1941 in Philadelphia was an
American radio astronomer and physicist. He studied at Haverford College and earned a Ph.D. in
astronomy at Harvard University in 1696, he then joined Princeton University where he became a

The pair then noticed that the behavior portrayed was that of a pulsar in binary orbit with another star.
Aide from this pulsar another pulsar, which was the first pulsar, discovered in 1967 at the

Joseph was that the behavior of the signal could be deduced that is was accompanied by an almost
equal heavy companion at a distance corresponding to only a few distance of the moon from the earth.
The award in 1967 and the on given in 1993 are different because the discovery made in 1967 was the
discovery an object that was emitting rapid radio pulses while the discovery of 1993 was that of a
discovery of a new type of pulsar. They discovered a pair of binary pulsars, binary stars are a pair of
stars that orbit around each other. Overall the discovery of 1967 helped the discovery of 1993 ne

By Telling The Story In Third Person According To Gansberg
In Gansberg s essay, he captures his audience by telling the story in third person rather than coming
out with his own opinion. The way he writes this piece makes you go through multiple emotions:
anger, disappointment, frustration, fear, etc. In my opinion, a writer uses techniques, such as tone, to
portray how they feel on a topic. With this being said, I read different tones throughout the essay. He
used sarcasm in consistently referring to the citizens as good people, yet telling us that some of them
did not want to get involved or were too tired. These are not examples of a good person. Not a single
witness called the police until it was too late. Again, this is not something a good person does.
Secondly, Gansberg uses an approach

Principles And Practices Of Incident Management And...
CHAPTER TWO
PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF INCIDENT MANAGEMENT AND INCIDENT RESPONSE
STRENGTHS
The information security incident management policy of Blyth s Books was created in 2010 and has
been reviewed four times in five years. Those covered by its scope are clearly stated. It stresses the
importance of incident management to the organisation and has the support of upper level
management.
This policy complies with the Computer Misuse Act (1990) which was an act made to secure
computer systems and networks from unapproved access. By complying with legal obligation, Blyth s
Books can pursue legal or disciplinary action against anyone (employee or otherwise) guilty of
breaching their systems.
WEAKNESSES
The Data Protection Act (1998) provides the principles which must be adhered to in order to ensure
the total protection of data while the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 27035
presents organisations with guidance in the management of information security incidents. This
standard stipulates that an organisation should have a clear and concise information security incident
management policy. The security incident management policy of Blyth s Books while compliant with
the Computer Misuse Act (1990) does not show that it is compliant with the Data Protection Act
(DPA) (1998) and the DPA (1998) being a legal aspect of the International Organisation for
Standardisation (ISO) 27035, which must be adhered to, this policy is also not compliant with the
standard.

Persuasive Essay About A Grocery Shop
This seems like a weird question, but have you ever thought about how you grocery shop? Yeah, of
course, you might say. You go to the store, get a cart, put food in, pay for it, and bring it home. OK,
but do you ever find that you spend more time at the store than you d like? Do you hate standing
around trying to pair this protein with that starch, or find yourself buying yet another packet of dried
thyme because you couldn t remember if you had any? Planning healthy meals takes some work, and
shopping for the ingredients is one of the most important tasks. Whether you are trying to save money
on your groceries and get as much healthy, wholesome foods on the table as possible, the way you
shop can be your best first step on that journey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Make a list and stick to it. This step is pretty self explanatory, but its importance cannot be overstated.
Making a good list of what you need from the store will cut down on the length of time you have to
shop. It also allows you to fight the wandering belly syndrome , which happens when you push your
cart around, looking at everything on the shelves, and then having the sudden urge to drop some
Nutella or ice cream in your cart, when it wasn t on your list. Just seemed like a good idea at the time,
right? Don t feel too ashamed we ve all been there. Keeping your focus on the stuff on your list, while
not much fun, will help save you from yourself! 4. Use the butcher counter or measure your meat. If
you are fortunate enough to have access to a butcher shop or a good butcher counter at your local
grocery store, you can buy your meat in exact quantities. The problem I always found in grocery
stores is the way meat is sold. Families come in many different sizes and needs, yet the ground beef
only comes in two general sizes. If you buy the smaller package, you might come up short for your
recipe. If you buy one of those big 5 pound packages, you either have to divide it into more
appropriate sizes yourself, or you might end up cooking it

  • 2. Micro Celebrity Performance Analysis Beginning around 2003, new kinds of websites and services appeared that made it much easier for people to assemble multifaceted networks devoted to the cataloguing and exchange of personal information and content. On Valentine s Day of 2005 one of these multifaceted networks, YouTube, was founded. The ability to Broadcast Yourself through user generated videos opened space for new digital communities where people could create videos, share them, comment on them, and manifest large public responses to them. Seven years later YouTube is now home to billions of viewers who upload more than 100 million videos per day and is the hub for the self marketing of, the now coined, Micro Celebrity one who gains a cult or mainstream following due to ... This selective identity is who your audience knows you by as this is the only aspect of yourself you portray to them. It is also who they have decided to embrace into their community and create bonds of affinity with. Therefore for YouTube personalities, they become this person to the world rather than simply portray it. It is as simple as being, for example an actor plays the part of a character in a movie and then takes off that mask when they step back into the real world. Rather it is showcasing a selective part of your true personality and then becoming that part of your personality to the world. This is the difference between the new micro YouTube celebrity and traditional celebrities: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Conflict Between Israel And Palestine Essay The conflict between Israel and Palestine has raged on since Israel s founding in the 1940s, the solution to this problem is not always straight forward or clear. It seems like everyone has formed their opinions and are stuck in their ways. The United Nations has even seem to accept the conflict as a certainty and for a large part does not wish to address it (Baker). However just because this problem is complex doesn t mean there is no hope for a solution. This conflict is generally seen as a war over where the border between these two states should lay, and due to the increase of extremism on both sides, whether both states should even exist or one state should prevail alone. However there is more complexities to the conflict then finding a mutual place for the border be drawn. There is the conflict over who will control the Holy City, Jerusalem. In addition there are concerns on both sides over security and the internal economy of each state. Finally is the problem that even if an agreement to form the two states were met and agreed upon, would these two vastly different and deeply opinionated states even be able to peaceful co exist in the future. With all the history and politics considered, for me the answer becomes clear; Palestine has the right to be a state and that state should in large part reflect their position they have presented to the international community. The outbreak of this conflict would begin in 1948, however you can start the modern history of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oil of Olay was seen as the traditional, generational brand where Pond s brand imagery was older, down to earth. The Shelf Shopping Study for Plenitude revealed positive aspects that included appreciating the continual release of newer products and research and the multiple product line. The negative aspects were primarily based upon the large product line that continually offered new products creating confusion and frustration. The same study for Oil of Olay revealed the brand image to be seen as old fashioned but with long standing reliability. • 9. Improving Vehicular Network And Road Safety Essay Abstract Although the spread in Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) research, eventual high end vehicles are conventional to under utilize the on Board computation, communication, and Storage resources. So, there is need to move from conventional VANET to Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC) by combining VANET with cloud computing. Also, VANETs use an open medium for communication and consequently are exposed to security threats that impact their Reliability. We address some major design concern that will affect the future performance of VCC and provide a set of security and privacy protecting protocols. We address relatively unique security challenges resulted by features of VCC e.g. The challenges of authentication of high mobility vehicles and the complexity of trust relationships among multi players caused by intermittent short range communication. We propose data trust security model designed for VANETs based on social network theories. Our intention is to help readers better understand the fundamental vehicular cloud computing mechanisms and mark out the potential applications for improving vehicular network and road safety. We present a extensive taxonomy of vehicular networking and analysis between MCC and VCC. In addition, we explain the VCC architecture, and the extensive application scenario. Each vehicle in VCC can connect to the other vehicles or the network infrastructures by using the vehicle to vehicle or the vehicle to infrastructure network communication. We ... How can the electronic and hybrid engines be used instead of the petrol engines Introduction: Hybrid engines and electric and other forms of fuel are being tried the world over on account of multiple problems. It is not only for vehicles but also for the industries that use fossil fuels and chemicals for manufacture. The primary problem is the pollution of the air, water and the entire planet on account of fossil fuel use. Not all fossil fuel forms are harmful. For example CNG, compressed natural gas is less harmful. The use of fossil fuel has deadly repercussions on human, animal and plant health. In other words all life on the planet can be at jeopardy. The shocking truth is revealed as follows: John Vidal of the Guardian reported that millions die in Asia on account of vehicle pollution. According to the report he quoted, issued by a consortium of universities working in conjunction with the UN, most of the deaths in Asia are caused by air pollution and fifty two million people died by particle air pollution in 2010. (Vidal, 2012, p. 4) Air pollution causes cognitive decline, strokes and heart attacks. Thus with the rise in automobile use the air pollution in India is far above the legal limits of 100 micrograms per cubic metre. This can rise to nearly 1,000 microgram s during festivals like Diwali. (Vidal, 2012, p. 4) Worldwide, over three million people a year died from air pollution in 2010, and air pollution is ranked world s top 10 lists of killer diseases. Some ... • 11. Women in Hills like White Elephants and The Yellow... Through history women have fought for equal rights and freedom. This tension is derived from men; society, in general; and within a woman herself. In the nineteenth century, women in literature were often portrayed as submissive to men. Literature of this period often characterized women as oppressed by society, as well as by the male influences in their lives. This era is especially interesting because it is a time in modern society when women were still treated as second class citizens. Two interesting short stories, Hills like White Elephants and The Yellow Wallpaper focus on a woman s plight near the turn of the nineteenth century. Alone in the yellow wallpapered nursery of a rented house, she descends into madness. Everyday she keeps looking at the torn yellow wallpaper. While there, she is forbidden to write in her journal, as it indulges her imagination, which is not in accordance with her husband s wishes. Despite this, the narrator makes entries in the journal whenever she has the opportunity. Through these entries we learn of her obsession with the wallpaper in her bedroom. She is enthralled with it and studies the paper for hours. She thinks she sees a woman trapped behind the pattern in the paper. The story reaches its climax when her husband must force his way into the bedroom, only to find that his wife has pulled the paper off the wall and is crawling around the perimeter of the room. Hills Like White Elephants and The Yellow Wallpaper are both about couples dealing with a delicate situation in a time when the power of men over women is obvious. The characters in both stories show that the man has more control and authority than the woman. Hills Like White Elephants demonstrates this through the use of the setting, time restrictions, and poor communication exhibited by the couple. In The Yellow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Slave System By Solomon Northup The slave system was kept in existence for many years since the early 1600 s. A never ending cycle of pain, and harsh conditions From being in 12 years of slavery, Solomon Northup recounts the time when he had once been a free man to be kidnapped of that freedom back in 1841. The relationships that Northup encountered were neither positive or negative . From friends he gained or his slave masters, the relationships were shaped by slavery and helped intact the slave system. In those relationships, how the supervisors of the slaves treated them impacted the slaves work ethic and the friendships that were made during this harsh time, thus supporting the slave system. One of the first social relationship Solomon encountered when he entered slavery was James H. Burch. When Solomon was captured, Burch chained him up and put him in a cell; something Solomon was not used to at all. Although he claimed he was a free man, Burch beat him every time he said he was, and forcing Solomon to say he was from Georgia. Burch frightened Solomon with his beatings and threatening words and because of how cruel Burch was, Solomon kept his mouth shut and refused to say he was a free man to any of his future slave masters, fearing of the treatment again. With James Burch treating the slaves in that matter; implemented to the system of slavery, forcing the slaves to become who they wanted them to be. Chinese consumers had been purchasing Barbie dolls from local department and toys stores throughout China. With this, Mattel saw potential, and they decided to open a six story, 35,000 square feet, 30 million dollar facility in Shanghai, entirely dedicated to Barbie named House of Barbie. Not only did they sell Barbie dolls, but they also sold Barbie clothes, furniture, and accessories. The store even housed a coffee shop and a Barbie themed restaurant. Product familiarity may best determine how a company or brand enters the new market. The company must decide if this product is new to the area or is already an established need or brand (Wang 2012). Lifestyle is essential to making globalization a success. Companies should consider what the society values and how they identify (Wang 2012). Addressing these issues before attempting to globalize is key to overseas success. Mattel erred in each of these issues, which ultimately led to their failure. Mattel Performance on Six Issues Mattel failed in China because they missed key components in each of the six identified issues. Localization is primarily the most important cultural characteristics to address when considering overseas expansion. Mattel attempted to address localization; however, they may have localized too much. The company introduced a doll with Chinese physical characteristics and name, Ling. However, the original, blond, fair skinned Barbie was more popular in China than Ling (Wang 2012). Thus, the disconnection was not with the doll herself, but rather with the concept of the store. Gupta proposes that expansion to China requires the precise combination of no localization and complete localization (2011). Dante construct of hell is his own and his judgement is reflected by the societal norms which were present during his time. Allegory, in the traditional definition is a story or poem that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one. Up until Canto IX, Virgil has been able to talk his way into the various circles, despite Dante being human. His words have no value against those who had the guts to oppose Christ so Virgil s words present no threat to them. The three female Furies have a threatening and fearful presence. Allegorically their appearance makes us conscious of the threat of sin. The threat of looking into their eyes shows how witnessing sin is dangerous and how the perfect female nature is rendered perverse. Evil could appeal to Dante and the reader s sympathies before but this circle is a playground for evil. The three female Furies show us that Dante s truth and morals have no standing in Hell. Even though this is his construct of hell, he doesn t have control over what happens. The sinners thus render the poets immobile. • 23. The Colonialization Of North America During The Colonial... North America during the Colonial period had resources the Europeans dreamed about. For example, the mighty Mississippi River for trading and transportation, the pine trees for lumber, and the rich soil in the south for growing crops. The Europeans saw the potential of economic opportunity in North America. The Native Americans viewed North America as sacred and took care of their land as much as possible. When the Europeans arrived, the deer population plummeted due to the need of meat from the Europeans. The New England colonists realized that the soil in New England was unreliable because of the unfertile soil and the weather. When the Europeans came to North America, they carried numerous diseases with them. Keep in mind that the Europeans traveled by ship for months and some ships had an infestation of rats and mosquitoes. Vaccinations did not exist during the Exploration years so, explorers and the Natives had diseases of small pox, pneumonia, and yellow fever. The Native Americans were dying by the numbers because of the European diseases that they came into contact with the Europeans. Several Native American tribes had healers which the Europeans thought were Doctors. The Native Americans used nuts, berries, and certain plants to heal either a snakebite, scratch, wounds from animal attacks, and skin diseases. The Europeans thought that some of the Indian practices were witchcraft because of the heavy European Christian beliefs. The Native Americans actually helped to cure several European diseases. When the first Colonists of Virginia arrived, the population was declining because of the disease and starvation. As time went on, the immigrants from Europe began to increase due to the Civil War, crowded population, or famine. The Europeans tasted other different food sources that the Native Americans had grown such as, pumpkins, potatoes, beans, corn, tomatoes, and squash. These crops were foreign to the Europeans. The Native Americans used food as a peace offering to the Europeans as a sign of hospitality. The trade between the Europeans and the Indians were challenging according to the Europeans. Low Socioeconomic Status Essay In 2013, 23.3% of the United States population consisted of children ages 0 to 17, 20% of those children lived in poverty and about 15.8 million children lived in households that were classified as food insecure (America s Children: Key National Indicators Of Well being, 2015). Perceptions of students with low socioeconomic status (SES) combined with other circumstances certainly play a role in their development and achievements. SES is conditional, imposed on people, used for comparisons, and based on economics, opportunity, and influence. When considering SES, individuals incomes, occupations, education, neighborhood, and political power are took into consideration. A school s SES is determined by the neighborhood where it is located and by the SES of the children and families in attendance at that school (Socioeconomic Status, 2009). Students in low SES homes often experience many negative experiences outside of school that can impact their academic performance. While interesting to read about, its impact on the war and on Union policies were not always important to historians. Early in the study of this conflict historians chose to focus on the leaders and actions of the guerrillas. More recently, scholars have endeavored to understand how guerrilla war in the Civil War affected the society in which it took place. This shift in historiographical trends is, in part, due to the rise in guerrilla warfare in the present. Because his work was published in 1973, when attention was still predominantly focused on the conventional engagements of the Civil War, this oversight is unsurprising though certainly lamentable. Despite the lack of attention given to the irregular forces supporting the Union and Confederate Armies, those men engaged in raids and operations that contribute to a deeper understanding of why, during the American Civil War, a strategy of annihilation was supported by the Union as their strategy against the Confederacy. While the development of guerrilla war does not factor into Weigley s thesis that the United States has moved from a strategy of attrition to a strategy of annihilation, it is important in understanding how and why the United States made that change. For Weigley, this change came during the American Civil War when Grant became Commanding General of the Army. Grant did not believe the war could be won with a single, decisive victory against the Confederate Army, rather, he initiated a strategy to destroy the Confederate Armies through many battles and by attacking their economic resources. The orders to begin destroying the war resources of the Confederacy may have had their roots in the Western and Trans Mississippian Theaters of the war because of frustrations associated with guerrilla war. The way he writes this piece makes you go through multiple emotions: anger, disappointment, frustration, fear, etc. In my opinion, a writer uses techniques, such as tone, to portray how they feel on a topic. With this being said, I read different tones throughout the essay. He used sarcasm in consistently referring to the citizens as good people, yet telling us that some of them did not want to get involved or were too tired. These are not examples of a good person. This policy complies with the Computer Misuse Act (1990) which was an act made to secure computer systems and networks from unapproved access. By complying with legal obligation, Blyth s Books can pursue legal or disciplinary action against anyone (employee or otherwise) guilty of breaching their systems.
