Plato Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Plato Essays" can be a challenging endeavor that requires a
deep understanding of Plato's philosophy, historical context, and the ability to critically analyze
his works. Plato's writings are rich in complexity, and unraveling the layers of his philosophical
ideas demands careful consideration and scholarly insight.
To start, one must delve into Plato's extensive body of work, including dialogues such as "The
Republic," "Symposium," and "Phaedo," among others. Each dialogue presents unique
challenges, with intricate arguments, allegories, and philosophical concepts that need to be
deciphered and articulated coherently. Moreover, exploring Plato's influence on subsequent
philosophical thought and understanding the evolution of his ideas over time adds another layer
of complexity to the essay.
Beyond comprehending the philosophical content, there is the task of contextualizing Plato's
ideas within the socio-political environment of ancient Greece. Understanding the historical
background, the cultural nuances, and the intellectual milieu of the time is crucial for presenting
a comprehensive analysis of Plato's work.
Moreover, a successful essay on Plato requires the ability to synthesize diverse perspectives and
scholarly interpretations. Engaging with secondary sources, academic commentaries, and various
schools of thought allows for a more nuanced understanding and a well-rounded exploration of
Plato's philosophical legacy.
The challenge lies not only in presenting a coherent and insightful analysis but also in
maintaining a balance between delving into the intricacies of Plato's thought and ensuring the
essay remains accessible to a broader audience. Striking this balance is vital to convey the
significance of Plato's ideas without alienating readers unfamiliar with the complexities of
ancient philosophy.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Plato Essays" demands a meticulous approach, rigorous
research, and the ability to navigate the intricate web of philosophical concepts. It is a task that
requires both depth of knowledge and clarity of expression to do justice to the profound ideas of
one of history's greatest philosophers.

A New Era Of Cryptography
A new era of Cryptography: Quantum Cryptography
Sandeepak Bhandari
Abstract:
Security is the first priority in today digital world for secure communication between
sender and receiver. Various Cryptography techniques are developed time to time for
secure communication. Quantum Cryptography is one of the latest and advanced
cryptography technique, it is different from all other cryptography technique and
more secure. It based on the Quantum of physics since its name which make it more
secure from all other cryptography and UN breakable. In this paper about quantum
cryptography i.e working, limitation and advantages discussed.
Keywords:
Photon, Polarization filter, Advantage and Limitation of Quantum Cryptography.
Introduction:
ID Quantique presents a quantum cryptography framework; will take after by the
Magic innovations. These frameworks use photons to send mystery encryption keys,
concealing every key behind the most well known tent of quantum mechanics, the
Heisenberg vulnerability rule. This standard says, that it is difficult to know both an
article s position and speed in the meantime. Any email message, phone call or money
related encoded with these keys will be protected.
Quantum cryptography utilizes current learning of material science to build up a
cryptosystem that is not ready to be vanquished that is, one that is totally secure
against being traded off without information of the sender or the beneficiary of the
messages. Quantum alludes to the

The author of this book was Eliot Ness. He was a prohibition agent given the
special assignment of cracking down on the Chicago mob and illegal liquor sales.
He was six feet tall, 180 pounds. Graduated in the top third of his class in both
highschool and at the University of Chicago. Both his parents were from Norway,
and he was raised in the traditional way. His reasoning behind writing this book was
to tell the inside story of what really happened with the Capone mob. He worked on
this book for many years so that people could know his story and what he went
through in life.
This book is an account of the special prohibition agent group that came to be known

He set up what came to be the most notorious Mafia ever in our history. He helped in
making Italian traditions popular and profitable in the States. He played a large role
in breaking the 19th amendment and supplying Chicago with all kinds of alcohol. He
corrupted out law enforcement officers and court systems. He became one of the
most famous bad guys ; in our history.
Lyle Chapman was a member in Eliot Ness s squad, and was largely responsible for
gathering information to bring up a liquor conspiracy charge on Capone. He s the
one who listened in on the tapped phones and gathered valuable data on what was
going on in the underworld. He helped gain information on where breweries were,
and where alcohol sales were taking place. His affect on our history was gathering
the information responsible for shutting down the biggest Mafia we ve ever had.
Without Lyle s in depth reports on alcohol sales and production, Capone would
have never been put away. I chose this book because it was the best account of the
1920 s booze wars. It gave the best inside information available on what was
actually going on. Also, it told an interesting and exciting story which made it fun to
read. I learned alot about how the Mafia conducted it s operation, and what their
operation involved. It was interesting to learn how and where they would set up their
breweries and how
The Incident Of The Fort Hood Shooting
On November 5, 2009, the public gained knowledge about an incident that took
place at an U.S. Army installation. Maj. Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, fatally
shot 13 people and injured more than 30 others. He was facing a deployment to one
of the many war zones overseas (McFadden, 2009). There are many reports about
this incident and what actually took place. From what I ve gathered, Hasan went
into a processing center where soldiers go before and after they come back from
deployment. After Hasan s shooting rampage, he was finally stopped when Army
Military Police (MP) officers shot him a total of four times. He is now paralyzed
from the waist down due to the shooting. The Fort Hood shootingmarked the worst
shooting ever to take place on a military installation state side, to record. There was
almost no structural damage because he used hand guns instead of bombs, or what
we call weapons of mass destruction.
This attack is classified as a terrorist attack simply because of what the intention
was at the beginning. In my own words, terrorist(s) is someone or groups that have
different beliefs and want to force their belief onto you by any means necessary,
which may include killing if one doesn t comply. The local, state, and federal, as well
as military, officers communicated well with each other and responded to the
shooting in record breaking time. All of the injured personnel were transported to
four different hospitals, to include the base hospital as well.
Aylmer s Obsession In The Birth-Mark By Nathaniel
Hawthorne
In the story The Birth Mark Nathaniel Hawthorne illustrates a man with an obsession
for perfection of the human body. With a desire to reach the ultimate level of
perfection, Aylmer s obsession ultimately creates a path of destruction that tragically
ends in the death of his devoted wife, Georgiana.
Aylmer was a man knowledgeable scientist had an obsession for perfection in all
aspects of life. Aylmer also viewed his wife as being flawless, except for the hand
like birth mark that appeared on Georgiana s left cheek. One day, Aylmer sits looking
at his wife with many thoughts wondering throughout his mind, Georgiana, said he,
has it never occurred to you that the mark upon your cheek might be removed? No,

led me deeper than ever into the heart of science. Aylmer without ever thinking back
on his dream he set forth with the surgery. Georgiana awoke and looked into the
mirror to see that the birth mark no longer appeared. Georgianna s birth mark had
disappeared but she wasn t at her best, My poor Aylmer, she repeated, with a more

that with so high and pure a feeling, you have rejected the best the earth could offer.

Native American Poverty
Poverty Among Native Americans W.E.B Du Bois once stated to be a poor man is
hard, but to be a poor race in a land of dollars is the very bottom of hardships (qtd.
in Rodgers 1). The Native American culture is often overlooked by many people in
the United States today. What many people do not realize is that about twenty five
percent of Native Americans are living in poverty(Rodgers 1). A majority of the
poverty among Native Americans is due to the United Statesbreaking treaties that
promised funds for their tribes. When non Native Americans first began migrating to
North America, the Indians were slowly having their land stripped away from them,
and being pushed to live on small, poorly kept reservations. As well as taking... Show

Health care is one thing that should be offered to all no matter what their ethnicity
is. Many Native Americans are unaware of opportunities that are available due to
the isolation that they face on reservations. In 1992 only seventy eight percent of
Native Americans received a high school diploma. This makes Native Americans
the least likely of all minority groups, besides Hispanics, to obtain a high school
degree. One main reason for Native Americans being unable to obtain a high
school diploma is having to leave school to get a job. If a member of their family
faces an illness or disability that causes them to be unable to work, the younger
members of the family are going to need to help provide for the family. In many
cases there is not a disability or illness, Native Americans have very poor wages
and are unable to survive on only two incomes. Only eleven percent of Native
Americans continues on to college after high school and receives a degree. Being a
minority student automatically gives Native Americans a disadvantage. Parents of
minority youth tend to have lower levels of education, and this is directly linked to
what kind of performance their child will have in school (Donelan 4). In 1995 Native
Americans had an overwhelming rate of unemployment at thirty two percent. Since
Native Americans are likely to obtain lower levels of education
The Bureaucratic System Of Public Administration
Introduction How Kristin Died is a prime example of one of the many issues inherent
within the bureaucratic system and the misfortunes that can stem from it. This case
forever changed the lives of those involved and unfortunately resulted in the death of
Kristin Lardner, a 21 year old college student, at the hands of Michael Cartier, her
estranged boyfriend. It is important to public administration because public
administration contains many issues of hierarchy and redundancy. Public
administration also has the power to mold the environments where it is present in
many ways. This case is strongly related to organizational theory, the relationship
organizations have with the environment and how individuals behave within. When
presented, the information within the case surrounding the details of Kristin s death
proves that had the bureaucracies involved taken the necessary preventative
measures, this tragedy may not have occurred. The main individuals of this case
include: Kristin Lardner, Michael Cartier, Tom Case and Rose Ryan. Although others
were involved, these individuals had the most influence within the case. Although
Lardner was originally from Washington, DC, this event takes place in Boston,
Massachusetts, where she attends college in the early 1990 s. History Cartier
showed signs of trouble very early on. As a child it is stated that he would light
matches behind a gas stove, and even mutilated his pet rabbit. Due to these acts,

Importance and Appreciation of Female Beauty Beauty is the most desirable trait
a woman can have. It is immediately recognized since it is a feature that is
physically evident. A woman who possesses beauty is admired by others and has a
higher likelihood of attracting more men, including those that are of high social
class. However, not everyone who is beautiful lives a simple life. In Little Snow
White, written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, Snow White s beauty leads to the envy
and competition, as well as to the infatuation of a desperate prince whom she
eventually marries. In addition, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm s tale, Cinderella, also

Although some women are beautiful, some are wiser than others. When her father
asks what she wants from his trip to a fair, Cinderella requests for him to ...break

(Grimm 3). One would wonder: why would anyone choose a branch for a gift? On
the other hand, both stepsisters, resembling the typical materialistic teenagers in
modern society, ask for beautiful dresses. It seems like a reasonable choice for the
stepsisters to ask for such gifts at a fair. However, the branch Cinderella asks for
grows into a tree at her mother s. A little white bird, which symbolizes the
reincarnation of her deceased biological mother, visits the tree occasionally. The
little white bird grants Cinderella s desires: ...if Cinderella expressed a wish, the
bird threw down to her what she had wished for (Grimm 1). Her true mother
resumes her role of a caring parent in the form of a bird. Ultimately, Cinderella
proves to be the wisest among the three girls. After all, she can wish for a beautiful
dress whenever she desires, which is what she does
First Transit Job Analysis
I thought that I had found the job of my dreams, and possibly my career. A job
where everything was perfect and I progressed quickly, but an unexpected turn of
events quickly proved me wrong. I went from having an awesome office job to
being unemployed; however, having to find a new start proved to be more
beneficial than I expected. My first job at First Transit was everything I wanted
and more. For starters, it was located in my home town of Church Point, and the
pay was above average for the area. The ideal nine to five schedule was also a plus.
As a customer service representative I was doing what I loved, helping people. I
quickly moved up to a supervisor position which enabled me to travel. I visited the
different regions of Louisiana with covered expenses that included: hotel, food,
and travel. To my surprise an unexpected turn of events was about to take place.
First Transit, the job of my dreams, abruptly came to an end. I did not know that
the company I worked for was actually contracted through The Department of
Health and Hospitals. At the time of renewal First Transit lost their bid for a new
contract, as a result, my coworkers and I were left unemployed. I was unemployed
for about six months before I found work, and that was a very depressing time for

Essay The Results of Operation Judgement
Introduction In 1915 the Allied and German forces were both seeking a decisive
victory to end the war. The German army decided that the location of this victory
would be the city of Verdun. Verdun is located 150 miles from Paris, France were
the French Army headquarters was located. General Falkenhayn believed that the
French Army would never accept the loss of a major defensive city so close to the
headquarters. Operation Judgment became the code name for this battle which was
to bleed the French Army of Soldiers through the defense of Verdun. The result of
this operation was the longest and most gruesome battle of World War 1.

The French headquarters believing these forts worthless removed most of the artillery
pieces and Soldiers to be reassigned to locations that were believed to be a higher
priority to the German Army. The largest weapons they left at these forts were

located less than ten miles away.3
The French Army realized that the Germans were preparing for an offense operation
when they villages surrounding Verdun began to be evacuated. General Herr, the
commander of Verdun, requested additional Soldiers and equipment from General
Joffre, the French Commander and Chief. General Joffre did not believe the Germans
would attack Verdun, but sent on of his aides to investigate the situation at Verdun.
When it became apparent that Verdun was the target, two divisions were sent to
General Herr which would not arrive until 12 February 1916.
General Falkenhayn briefed his commanders that they were to attack the city of
Verdun in a battle of attrition. The commanders appeared to believe that the intent
was to capture the city itself. When they presented General Falkenhayn with Courses
of Action he agreed to the plan believing the troops would be more motivated by an
offensive attack. General Falkenhayn did not believe they could attack both the west

The Shock Factor of A Modest Proposal by by Johnathan
Swift
Rhetorical Analysis of A Modest Proposal A Modest Proposal by Johnathan Swift
was intended to use shock factor as incentive to get the British Parliament to come
up with a workable plan to deal with the multitude of poor children in Ireland
(Swift). If logic is applied to the proposal, ignoring the fact that the proposal was
not meant to be taken seriously and the blatant sometimes over the top sarcasm
occasionally used, several parts of it would cause an uproar and quite possibly a
revolution if implementation were ever attempted, and there was even a hint that
enforcement of it was to occur. Jonathon Swift was born on the 30th of November
1667 in Dublin, Ireland and died on the 19th of October 1745 in the same
(Johnathon Swift). He father died before he was born and his mother had a hard
time supporting him on her own. She ended up giving him to his uncle on his
father s side so that he could have the best possible future (Johnathon Swift). As a
child he was always sick and was later diagnosed with Meniere s Disease
(Johnathon Swift). Meniere s Disease causes nausea and hearing problems due to a
condition of the inner ear (Johnathon Swift) Swift went to Kilkenny Grammar

Tracer Bullet History
This paper is to help individuals understand multiple subjects on Tracer Bullet.
What are Tracer Bullets? Who made them? Why were they made? They are bullets
that light up? What Are Tracer Bullet A tracer bullet is a are rounds which emit
small amounts of flammable material that left a phosphorescent trail. The first
attempt to use these in 1915 was unsuccessful seeing as the bullet was only limited
to about 100 meters. In 1916 the bullet had been upgraded and was a success as it
emitted a green/white light for about 600 meters if not longer. Tracer bullets were
used in aerial attacks mainly. Some but very few snipers would use them. Who
Invented Them The British created tracer bullets. The British thought that this would

This is a good thing but also a very very bad thing it makes guns more dangerous
and snipers have become more accurate as time has gone on because of these
bullets and modern upgrades. Gun makers haven t slowed down they have
continued to make more accurate guns and bullets. How It Was Made The Tracer
bullet is made when the bullet is fired the gunpowder ignites the back of the bullet
which has a compound of either magnesium or phosphorus. This cause it to leave a
trail of a certain light trail that burns brilliantly through the night. (Igniting A
Tracer Bullet) FUN FACT: Depending on the compound in the back of the bullet
will decide what color the trail burns. (The trail can be orange, green, blue, white,
red, or pink .) Why Was It Made It was created to be used in aircrafts so that the
gunmen could see if they were hitting their target. At first, the bullet could only go
100 yards or so but with recent updates, the bullet can go 600 yards or more
depending on the gun. In aircrafts, it is difficult to see whether or not they are close
to their targets due to the fact that they are in air moving. So with the tracer, it will

Examples Of Paradox Of Sight In Oedipus Rex
Oedipus Paper
Sophocles tragedy, Oedipus the King, tells the story of the leader of Thebes who
unknowingly kills his father, takes his place as king, and marries the queen, who is
his mother. In Sophocles tragedy, the paradox of sight as in seeing the truth, and
prophecy and blindness in terms of not seeing and not accepting truth and trying to
evade prophecy is present throughout the play. A paradox is a statement or
proposition that seems self contradictory or absurd but in reality expresses a possible
truth (dictionary.com). Although sight in blindness and blindness in sight are self
contradicting, upon interpretation this paradox makes logical sense in the play. The

him who sees! I knew it well (Sophocles 359 361). The use of the word see instead
of the word to know in itself already is contradictory. Although Tiresias cannot
physically see, he is not blind to the truth of Oedipus life and he knows the pain
that Oedipus would face if he knew the truth. Tiresias also says that he can see by
saying that he knows it well which refers to the burdens that come along with
knowing the truth of things. Although in this quote it is said Tiresias can see, it
refers to his knowledge of truth giving his the ability to see despite his physical
blindness. While all of this shows Tiresias sight despite his blindness, it also shows

student is exposed to new methods and standards of work. The students usually just
assume that they will have a hard time and therefore their work ethic is disrupted.
Social issues become more problematic and they soon find themselves worrying
about more than school. Puberty is also a large factor that affects the student. These
aspects divert the attention of the student to things that are not school. The aim of
this research task is to explore if the attention span of the student affects their ability

Racial Profiling Against Hispanics And Hispanics Essay
Racial Profiling Against Hispanics Racial profiling is the use of race or ethnicity as
grounds for suspecting someone of having committed an offense. Racial profiling
against Hispanics includes people from North American, South American and
Central Americans. Examples of racial profiling against Hispanics are being
identified by the color of their skin, which the majority of skin tone is brown but not
all some may be a different color and are Hispanics. Sadly, Hispanic identity is only
defined by the color of skin and are targeted and threatened with deportation and
thinking that everyone are all illegal immigrants and discriminating with hurtful
words that express that they do not belong here in the United States, even though
some were born in the United States. Also supposedly that Hispanics are taking
everyone s job, but it is usually people who think that and that say that, are the
people who can get a job but do not want to or cannot get a job, so they just blame
the Hispanics. Hispanic are the easy targeted raceand stereotype are made about
them, by only referring Hispanics as illegal immigrant which is not because there
is other immigrants who migrated to the United States and are here illegally and
society does not refer them as illegal immigrants. Also it leads to being arrested
unfairly for no reason, just because he or she was Hispanic. In Arizona which
already has accepted racial profiling against Hispanics that has made the law passed
which is called SB1070.

it brough Mrs. Leonardo and her sister together after being separated for a long
Organizational Change In Eastman Kodak
1.Introduction Organizational change is the movement of an organization away from
its current state and toward some desired future state to increase its effectiveness
(Lunenburg, 2010). Changes in the environment often require changes within the
organization driving within that environment. Change fatigue is one of the
challenges organization face.
Change may occur in order to remain competitive in response to new competition.
Change fatigue is rampant, and its aggravated by a natural tendency to distrust
change that is imposed from above (Morgan, 2001). This report will discuss about

successful, but as achievement grew so did their complacency.
The deep rooted source of Kodak s problem was a culture of self satisfaction .
Kodak was critically destroyed by its culture, although it was the quick progress of

Beowulf is the perfect example of a hero. He was brave, selfless, and humble. My
grandfather is also a good example of a hero, because he too, is selfless and humble.
Beowulf is one of the bravest heroes that I ve heard of. He is also a herothat is
courageous. There was once a time when he made the decision to go to battle,
however he left many men behind. He chose to go fight alone when he had the
option to have his men help him defeat Grendel. Beowulf is not only courageous,
but he is a brave soul. He shows us how brave he is by striving to do whatever he
can to keep his people safe. He would do, without a doubt, anything to protect his
people, and that is one of his biggest qualities. Being brave and courageous aren t
Beowulf s only qualities. He is selfless. When Hrothgar dies, he leaves all his good
to Beowulf. When he has these goods in his possession, he holds on to them until
he dies. When Beowulf eventually passes, he shows his selflessness by giving all
the money and treasure to his people. He did this because he wanted to die
knowing he helped his people. Beowulf is a humble man. He shows us how
humble he is when he goes to fight Grendel. When Beowulf decides to go to battle
with Grendel, he chooses to fight him alone. He wants to fight him man to man,
with an even battle. He fights Grendel with nothing but himself. He doesn t have his
armor, a sword, or even anything at all to fight against him with. Beowulf was the
type of man that was okay with dying knowing he would still be famous. He chose
to put his life into the hands of Godso if the God s thought it was his time to pass,
that was his time, and he was okay with that. Beowulf isn t the only hero out there.
Some people have their own heroes they look up to. For myself, my hero is my
Grandfather. His name is Kent Lewis, however I call him Pawpaw. He is a well
known man for both good and bad. Today he is known for the great man he has
become throughout the years. He is a man that strives to be a better man than he was
yesterday. My grandfather, like Beowulf, is selfless.

Analysis Of Mile Davis The Birth Of Cool Jazz
The development of cool jazz in the late 1950s defines the culmination of the style
into popular mainstream culture. Mile Davis The Birth of Cool defines a
masterpiece that projected an image of an African American cool cat that played a
refined, mellow, and sophisticated style of jazz. Davis would become a central figure
in the cool jazzmovement due to his rebellious attitudes towards society, as well as
the drug related criminal culture that he exuded as a countercultural figure in
conservative white America. The Birth of the Cool provided a major record release,
which was founded on minimalist instrumentation and selective note playing as a
common theme of cool jazz stylistics during the late 1950s. In contrast to Bebop,

The etymology of cool typically defined a hip person in African American that
displayed a relaxed or nonchalant countenance. The use of this word in Chisholm
s Cool Kind Daddy Blues and Huston s The Gilded Six Bits illustrates a
popularized way to express an individual with a cool demeanor in the arts. This
type of cultural label helped to establish cool jazz as an expression of this African
American lifestyle in the jazz community. The deviant nature of the jazz lifestyle
is another major part of the Cool jazz , which made it cool to be seen as a
rebellious in terms of criminal behavior and drug usage. The cool trend in the early
1950s began with album releases, such as Classics in Jazz: Cool and Quiet in
1953, which established a music industry standard for mellow jazz in the cool
school. Stan Kenton s Modern Music Orchestra was also a major influence on cool
jazz , which revealed the racial diversity of jazz in white groups that expanded on
African American influences. Jazz artists, such as Chet Baker and Gerry Mulligan,
that complimented the master works of Mile Davis and the Modern Jazz Quartet in
this multi racial and multicultural development of cool jazz as a trend in American
music. The and of the 1950s defined the end of cool jazz as a dominant movement in
jazz, but it defines the origins and development of a relaxed and nonchalant style of
playing that made a huge impact on jazz

The Pros And Cons Of Alliances During The Suez Crisis
When it comes to international conflicts, countries choose a side to fight with,
creating alliances between nations. A variety of factors such as the advantages they
will be able to receive from each other are always put into consideration. The 1956
Suez Crisis was fought over the control of the Suez Canal, and brought together the
alliance of three influential and dominant countries; Britain, France, and Israel(Pearce

being able to remove Nasser, Egypts president from power, a stronger military force,
security, and control over the Suez Canalfor their country by being allies during the

However, in the end, the creation of alliances was unsuccessful for Britain, Israel,

resulted in the favor of the three nations, and was not what they had expected
because France, Israel, and Britain were forced to cease fire by the United States

independence from the Western World in Arab nations (Pearce 219). As for Britain

The Pros And Cons Of Al Qaeda
The word terrorism is used a lot in the world nowadays. The definition of a terrorist
is someone who uses intentionally indiscriminate violence as a means to create
terror or fear, in order to achieve a political, religious, or ideological aim. Some

Within the last few years, the European Union has been faced with the unique
challenge of determining how each nation should be handling the Syrian Migrant

The postmodern style of writing John Kennedy Toole, makes so that the various
cast of the characters in the story are much closer to people in real life making this
book a perfect case to study and relate to characters of people across the world .
Ignatius is introduced to us as a obnoxious and gruesome character A green
hunting cap squeezed the top of the fleshy balloon of a head. The green earflaps,
full of large ears and uncut hair and the fine bristles that grew in the ears
themselves, stuck out on either side like turn signals indicating two directions at
once (Toole, John Kennedy, 1). John Kennedy is not trying to impress us with
Ignatius. He is giving us a fantastic, complex character with radical ideas. Every
sense of his character is an attempt to show us what not to do. He is unlikable and
disgusting yet he judges other people, Ignatius s appearance is a symbol for what
lies beneath, his taste in clothing hints at his care for his own comfort which he
seems to care about more than anything else except for his ego. Ignatius does not
change throughout the story. This however, is not due to his incapability to change,
he is simply not willing to change and he blames Fortuna! on every turn. His
unwillingness to change is best said by himself when he The book teaches us to
accept that which we cannot change. It describes the plight of a just man in an unjust
society. It is the very basis for medieval thought. (Toole, John
An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry
How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is
called perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing
something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Synonyms are
persistence and determination. It originated from the latin word perseverare.
Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to
wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it
because there is not much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In
all of the nonfiction literature we have read there were many different examples of
perseverance from many different people. I decided to choose three. For my first
example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous
examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. For the
second example of perseverance I chose Maya Angelou. Through her life there
were countless times that she was faced adversity and still achieved success. My
third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book E.A.R.L . He went through a
tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and achieved
success. Perseverance creates success; therefore, when you stick through something
you can accomplish what you want. In the book Warriors Don t Cry Melba Pattillo
Beals and the rest of the Little Rock 9 were faced with racism as they were trying to
go to a all white school. They all had courage

musician, loves sports, and people. His wife Carol states that she s the more

Energy Sector
EXECUTIVE BRIEFING
Energy sector is one of the most important sectors for the current economy.
Nowadays, the access to energy is a key point for the development and welfare of a
country. With that purpose, all the countries try to push forward their energy sectors,
aiming to have enough resources to sustain their growing perspectives.
Within the energy sectors, the electricity sector is considered a strategic one,
considering the increase of electricity demand occurred during the last 15 years all
over the world, and especially in Europe and United States. For that reason, in order

Introduction of the electricity sector in Spain:
To liberalize a series of activities of the energy sector and to open this sector to the
competition begin with the approval, in the scope of the European Union, of the
Directive for the establishment of the Inner Market of the Electricity (96/92/CE).
This Directive has been transposed to the regulation in Spain of the Law of the
Electrical Sector of November, 1997.
To open the market and the introduction of the competition has as a main objective,
the continuity of the supplying and its quality as well as the smaller possible cost.
The National Commission of Energy was created as a controller entity of the energy
systems and to look after by the competition between the different energy systems.
The new regulating frame suppresses the consideration of the public service for the
electricity although the electrical energy happens to consider itself like indispensable
for the operation of the society.
In the following Chart NВ° 6, we show the evolution of the liberalization of the
electricity sector, with the percentage of market that supposed.

Theu.s. Constitution Vs. The Constitution
The U.S Constitution was written by James Madison and was ratified on July 21,
1788. Ever since people had trouble determining how it should be interpreted. When
judges interpret the constitution, they are interpreting new facts to an established law
that has been given meaning and has a historical background. Many people argue that
it should be read how it was written who are known as Originalists. Then there are
people who believe that the Constitutionevolves as society does and they are known as
Living Constitutionalists. Also, some feel that the goal is not do determine whether
the constitution should be determined originally or as a living document, but to give
meaning on the basis of facts. In my paper I will discuss arguments on how the
Constitution should be read, whether it be from the Originalists or the Living
Constitutionalist s point of view, and why Living Constitutionalism is better. As
society evolves, there are new and more difficult problems that occur, and they cannot
be solved by reading the exact text of the Constitution which makes Living
Constitutionalism better. According to Meese Their intention was to write a
document not just for their times, but for posterity. (Meese 15) Living
Constitutionalists might say this is a very bold statement. This quote basically means
that the Framers were trying to create a document that would address future and
present problems. A common question that is asked is what did the Framers mean

Phantom of the Opera Review
Phantom of the Opera is the longest running musical to date and has become one of
the most beloved and well known musicals on Broadway. The musical was inspired
and loosely based on the characters and the story of the book Phantom of the Opera
by Gaston Leroux. This CD is the original London cast which means that this
recording is with the first cast that ever preformed the musical with the actors that
created the parts. The musical was written and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber
who is one of the most famous musical composers and has composed some of the
most well loved musicals of the last fifty years. Webber created incredible and
emotional music for Phantom of the Operathat set this musical apart from all the
others. One thing that makes Phantom of the Opera a unique musical experience is
because it does not try to fit into one genre and does not try to be too modern. This
makes it unique because most of today s musicals are trying to be more pop culture.
The Phantom of the Opera manages to stay in the time period where the story takes
place but weaves in modern comedy and rock music. The most obvious way that this
is done is with the main theme of the musical. The pounding of the organ is one of
the most well known themes in musical theatreand it is reminiscent of rock music
with the guitar but it is different than rock because it is an organ not a guitar. There
are many other contrasts between old and new in the musical. One contrast is of
musical and opera. The

The ending of critically acclaimed Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie s novel Americanah

last finals events of Ifemulu s life, portrayed in the book, are something of a happy

The Asterick-Parallel
In 2001, the International Congress on Medieval Studies at Western Michigan
University in Kalamazoo allowed three sessions on Tolkien to be presented. That
seminal event was the nucleus from which this collection sprang. For forty years,
editor Jane Chance, Professor Emerita in English at Rice University, has written and
taught on medieval literature, medieval culture, medieval women and modern
medievalism. She has authored or edited five critical studies of Tolkien s work, as
well as numerous scholarly articles. In her introduction, Chance notes that since Peter
Jackson began filming The Lord of the Ringsin 1999, there has been a parallel rise in
interest in his writings and books about his writings (1). Additionally, the publication

The first essay, by John William Houghton, cast a very interesting light on Tolkien s
creation myth. Houghton uses asterisk in Augustine in the cottage of lost play: the
AinulindalГ« as asterisk cosmogony as Shippey used asterisk reality in his
description of Tolkien s creative process. Asterick realities may be based on
assumptions which are imaginative, but they must be internally cohesive. Houghton s
essay considers the AinulindalГ« as a cohesive construction within Tolkien s world
which also fits neatly amongst the real cosmogonies known to early medieval Europe
(171). He examines how Saint Augustine, writing at the turn of the fifth century,
understood the Old Testament book of Genesis. Augustine was apparently a careful
and meticulous student of the text, which Tolkien surely would have appreciated.
Tolkien chose to clothe his creation in the language of music, but Houghton shows
where the concepts beneath the imagery would fit easily into Augustine s
understanding of creation. This essay was most valuable to me on a few points
about sub creation and the role of Man in God s
Analysis Of Thin Slicing
Having watched an interesting movie about the Navy SEAL (Sea, Air, and Land)
Team such as Lone Survivor or any other movies about wars, has anyone of us
thought about how those task force teams could deal with the hot situations they
encounter while doing their jobs? How can they make decisions that quickly so as to
survive in those circumstances? According to Malcom Gladwell, the author of Blink,
human beings have an ability to make unconsciously quick decisions, which is
called thin slicing, in every split second. Gladwell s concept of thin slicing is
defined as the ability of our brain to pick out key patterns within a limited amount of
data or experiences and then make snap judgment, or quick decision, based upon
those patterns. However, this does not mean that our judgments can always be right.
This only means that the process of thin slicing is unconscious, instant and automatic.
This process helps people solve problems quickly or predict consequences in a short
amount of time without knowing that they are doing it. There are right judgments
and there are also mistakes that being made every day.
As illustrated in the text, the first task of Blink is to convince you of a simple fact:
decisions made very quickly can be every bit as good as decisions made cautiously
and deliberately. The second task of Blink is to answer when should we trust our
instincts, and when should we be wary of them? The third and most important task of
this book is to convince you that our
Roman Architecture And Its Impact On Society
Introduction Roman architecture is a thing of the past; however, it still has a large
impact upon society today. Roman buildings are what our buildings were derived
from, a lot of the art we think of when we see a building was once thought of by the
romans, was once built by the romans, and some of these buildings are still standing
today, not many, but a few. Now, roman architecture is significant because of how it
affected the growth of our architecture, how it evolved changed how we evolved.
This will show how roman architecture began as a thing of functionality and grew to
a thing of beauty. Roman period Roman architecture was originally founded by the
Greeks, and was, in reality, a continuation of Greek architecture. Some say the
Romans brought architecture to a new level, I say that the romans just enhanced what
was already there. The Romans adopted new techniques, used new materials, and
combined existing techniques/materials with creative designs to create new
architectural structures. A few examples of these new structures are; the basilica,
triumphal arch, aqueduct, amphitheater, granary building, and residential housing.
Many of these additions to architecture were spurred by Rome s need to grow. The
reason that these buildings grew so large and became so wide spread was because
they were funded by a state apparatus, causing these constructions to survive until the
present day. Roman architects continued to follow the guidelines established

the Americans we are today, we now have our new set of fancy laws, we have our

Key Principles And Good Practice Within Sports
Key Principles and Good Practice within sports
Sport development is the promotion of sports activities for the community. Successful
sports development depends largely on effective partnership and networking with a
wide range of community groups, service providers, facility operators, National
Governing bodies, local authorities and voluntary groups.Fundamentally sport
development is about participation and promoting the opportunities and benefits of
participation. Participation in sport and physical activity spans a wide range of
contexts. Those engaging in sport development must be in the business of devising
better and more effective ways of promoting interest and participation or
performance in sport. Sport development is a questionable and challenged term,
particularly as the accurate importance and utilization of sport improvement can t be
assumed, as various arrangement and expert settings have incrementally procured
remarkable quality and implications that can t be disregarded. Sports development
services encourage and deliver an extensive range of high quality programmes and
initatives designed to succeed in a long term and sustainable increase in sport and
physical activity. This is achieved through using the local delivery system for sport
and physical activity working with a network of strong and effective key partners at
a national, regional and local level. The success is underpinned throught a range of
development approaches and principles. Similarly,
Story Of Sinuhe Sparknotes
The Story of Sinuhe is considered one of the most important works in Egyptian
literature, which is why there are not only so many copies, but why there are
copies in multiple different time periods, The oldest date to the Twelfth Dynasty
(1937 1758 B.C.E. ), which was also the time of the story s setting. There also more
than twenty copied during New Kingdom and even a copy from the Late Period
(665 333 B.C.E.). This amount of copies across all major time periods is because
copying it was required in scribe schools as part of their training, thus this work of
literature connected the Egyptian literate class for 2,000 years. This story is
structured as an autobiography and is written in the first person, and includes songs,

He decides to flee Egypt, traveling across Egypt s eastern border into the lands
beyond. In his haste to leave, however, he does not pack sufficient provisions and
nearly dies of thirst in the desert. A Bedouin chief rescues him, and Sinuhe is able
to reach the town of Byblos in modern Lebanon, eventually settling in Upper
Retenu in modern Syria. There he meets a local ruler named Amunenshi, who
gives him his daughter in marriage and land in a place called Yaa. Sinuhe prospers
in Yaa, has children, and successfully leads Amunenshi s army against other tribes.
Near the end of his life, however, he decides he wants to return to Egypt for burial.
He sends a letter to the king, and the benevolent Senwosret I welcomes him back to
Egypt with full honors despite his cowardly flight years before. Senwosret I
arranges for Sinuhe s burial in Egypt, and the final verses describe Sinuhe s tomb
and his final contented days in Egypt waiting for death. John L. Foster, the American
Egyptologist, analyzed Sinuhe s personal development from his loss of status when
he fled from Egypt to his eventual restoration to his rightful place in Egyptian society.
Foster demonstrated that the real interest of the story for modern readers is in Sinuhe
s personal development. It is one suggestion that perhaps helps modern readers
understand the story s
The Dad In Those Winter Sundays
Thesis: Parents are not chosen but given and the memories they leave behind never
leave. The Dad in Those Winter Sundays rises early in the cold morning to heat up
the house, while the father in My Papa s Waltz comes in smelling of whiskey, raging
with fury.
In Those Winter Sundays the Dad is a loving character who wakes up on the day he
can sleep in to warm the house for his family.
The father in My Papa s Waltz returns smelling of whiskey and takes out his anger
upon his family.
One comes bringing warmth and comfort, the other ushers in chaos and mayhem.
The Dad comes forth out of love, yet the father comes forth out of rage and vexation.
When either of the male parents appears the surrounding area changes to represent
their character.

Difference Between Jeans And Jeans
Denim
In recent years, consumption of apparel has grown rapidly along with income and
this trend is expected to continue. Since the first pair of Jeans appeared in America
about one and half century ago, denim wear has gained popularity all over the
world. As a result, jeans wear is one of the most prominent apparel items in the world
apparel market. Young people as well as older people have now great passion for the
denim cloth. Trouser, skirt, jacket made of denim can be found in thousands stores
and street markets in most countries. Millions of pairs of jeans are produced in
America, Europe and Asian countries each year for local and international markets.
Today jeans are available in many colors and designs. Young people like to mix and
match colors and sizes to create different looks. Globally, denim designers are
experimenting with fabric and garment in order to add value to their garments.

The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Power
Power, a commodity and much debated about topic today. Many take turning on a
light or heater for granted. The problem is that fossil fuels won t last forever and
the solutions are a hot topic amongst the scientific community. Many different
solutions have been offered, each with it s pros and cons. Some scientists are
arguing for clean and renewable energy like solar or wind, while others claim that
we should find more effective ways of mining and using fossil fuels. Neither of
these are a single solution that can power the world for an extended period of time.
Many have ideas of how we should harness power, however, not many of them could
be a permanent solution, unlike nuclear fissionis a cleaner, safer, and more reliable
solution.
Nuclear Power is, in the timeline of history, relatively new and as such many do not
understand how and why it works. Nuclear power creates energy using the process
of nuclear fission, the releasing of energy creates steam, which then rises up from the
reactor, turning turbines in the process and generating electricity for use. For
example, one kilogram of coal produces 8kWh of energy, one kilogram of uranium
235 produces 24,000,000 kWh of power. This allows for much more power to be
produced over time compared to other energy sources. This cost would lead to an
overabundance and therefore the price of power would decrease, allowing those who
previously went without power to have it. According to Steven Fetter in the article,

Satires of Education in The Adventures of Huckleberry...
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck is not educated, but through his
adventures he proves himself to be more quick witted by outsmarting the educated
people throughout the novel. Huck was not raised in what you would consider a
proper home and as a result of that he has a lack of education. Huck s pap was the
town drunk and for a short period of time, in paps absence, Huck was taken in by
Widow Douglas as an attempt to civilize him. The Widow put Huck into school
and shortly after his admission he was forced to leave school due to the returning
of pap. Pap did not treat Huck in anyway like a father figure would treat his son, I
was all over welts. (Twain 24) pap beat on Huck and locked him up whenever he
went out just so that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only thing that distinguishes the two characters is that Tom s motives were
based off of the adventure books he s read, whereas Huck has more common sense
because all of his motives are based on experience and not fiction. Tom s common
sense is compared to Huck s in chapter 3 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
when Tom claims that (he fought a pack of Spaniards and A rabs) [Huck says], But
there warn t no Spaniards and A rabs, and there warn t no camels nor no elephants. It
warn t anything but a Sunday school picnic... (Twain 13) So then I judged that all
that stuff was one of Tom Sawyers lies. I reckoned he believed in the A rabs and
elephants, but for me I think different (Twain 14).
Mark Twain satires society and portrays it as being uncivilized with drunkenness
(Nyirubugara). As mentioned in the beginning of the novel, Pap is the first person
introduced as being a drunk. Pap did not like the fact that Huck was becoming
smarter than him and when he regained custody of Huck he made sure that Huck
stopped going to school. Since Huck was no longer in school, he spent most of his
days protecting himself from his drunken father s abuse, so once he ran away it was
not hard for him to shift into adulthood.
Huck s morality started to change soon after he allowed Jim, a runaway slave, to
come along with him on his adventure to freedom. This decision shocked me but, as a
result of Huck meeting
Description Of The Disorder. What If You Were Physically
Description of the Disorder What if you were physically paralyzed, conscious, and
unable to communicate? You would feel locked in, trapped in your body, constantly
searching for a way to communicate with the outside world. Locked in Syndrome is
a rare condition in which a patient is unable to produce any form of movement or
verbal communication. An individual with Locked in Syndrome (LIS) is affected by
tetraplegia, which is the partial or complete paralysis of the limbs in the human body
(Villines, 2015); an additional symptom includes anarthria, or the inability to
produce speech, which results from a loss of function in the speech muscles and a
difficulty articulating words (Vega, 2016). Patients affected by LIS are often
described as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A patient with classical LIS has the potential to improve dramatically over a
prolonged amount of time. In contrast, the recovery for patients with incomplete or
total LIS may take more time and appears more difficult to accomplish.
Symptoms of LIS are similar to those that occur during sleep paralysis; however,
LIS is not considered a transitional state between being awake and asleep. Some
characteristic of LIS include a difficulty breathing, and the inability to chew,
swallow, speak, and control movements in the lower area of the face. Locked in
Syndrome is not more prevalent in any age, race, nor gender. However, individuals
prone to stroke and traumatic brain injury victims are more likely to become locked
in. In addition, there is no standard course for this disorder; the development of LIS
is abrupt, rather than progressive, and diagnosis may take years.
Etiology and Associated Medical Information How can an individual be cognitively
locked in? Locked in Syndrome can be caused by poisoning, brainstem strokes,
infarctions, traumatic brain injuries, medication overdose, and progressive
neurodegenerative diseases. Common neurodegenerative diseases that may
potentially be affected by Locked in Syndrome (LIS) include: amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis, myelin loss, and the inflammation of nerves. LIS is often a result of
damage afflicted on the pons, an area on the brainstem in charge of sensory and
motor roles.

Cold climates have proven to be associated with a range of health risks including
frostbite and hypothermia. According to a study by Gasparrini et al (2015)
published in The Lancet, cold temperature is responsible for advancing
approximately 7.29% of deaths between 1985 and 2009 for 13 countries including
Canada. Elderly people are at a particularly high risk for cold related mortality due to
mental, cardiovascular, and respiratory illnesses. Elderly people are more vulnerable
to hypothermia as the body s ability to regulate temperatureand sense cold lessens
with age. Additionally, many elderly people are not able to communicate when they
are cold or are not mobile enough to get to warmth. A global meta analysis by Yu et

tympanic thermometer used by firefighters to reduce the risks such as cardiac

was measured against that of a rectal thermometer as comparison. The observed level
of agreement between the two devices (0.04 ВєC) suggests that the VitalSense is a
viable alternative to consider for measurement of core temperature. However, the
core temperature was not recorded on several occasions due to an inactive capsule.

Mr. Low arrived on the west coast of Korea during the later part of May 1871 on
board the flagship Colorado, along with four other ships of the Asiatic Fleet under
the command of Rear Admiral John Rodgers. Having anchored off the mouth of
the Han River, and desiring to examine approaches to Seoul, Rodgers sent out a
Navy surveying party on one June. The survey party, while working its way up the
channel (Salee River), was fired upon by one of the five forts which protected the
approach to the Han River. After waiting 10 days to give the Korean officials time to
apologize, Rodgers and Low decided to carry out punitive measures in response to the
hostile action. On 10 June, Marine Captain McLane Tilton with 3 officers and 105
Marines, who comprised part of the landing force, led the assault against the Korean
forts. After taking two of the forts without much difficulty, Tilton then led his
Marines against the heavily fortified Citadel. During the ensuing battle, which
required hand to hand combat, Marine Corporal Charles Brown and Private Hugh

African American Slave Rebellions In The 1800s
Slave revolts normally happened outside of the plantation system and in large
cities were the slaves were able to act more freely. It s estimated there were at least
250 slave rebellions in America before slavery was abolished in 1865.Most tales of
what happened during those rebellions could be bias seen as they were written by
whites rather than by the slaves that started the revolt. Since African American slaves
accounted for more than one third of the population in the 18th century, slave
rebellions were a large source of fear for white Americans in the south.

Approximately 35 slaves that helped to lead the rebellion were caught and

Plato's writings are rich in complexity, and unraveling the layers of his philosophical ideas demands careful consideration and scholarly insight. To start, one must delve into Plato's extensive body of work, including dialogues such as "The Republic," "Symposium," and "Phaedo," among others. Each dialogue presents unique challenges, with intricate arguments, allegories, and philosophical concepts that need to be deciphered and articulated coherently. • 3. Essay about The Untouchables The Untouchables The author of this book was Eliot Ness. He was a prohibition agent given the special assignment of cracking down on the Chicago mob and illegal liquor sales. He was six feet tall, 180 pounds. Graduated in the top third of his class in both highschool and at the University of Chicago. Both his parents were from Norway, and he was raised in the traditional way. His reasoning behind writing this book was to tell the inside story of what really happened with the Capone mob. He worked on this book for many years so that people could know his story and what he went through in life. This book is an account of the special prohibition agent group that came to be known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He set up what came to be the most notorious Mafia ever in our history. He helped in making Italian traditions popular and profitable in the States. He played a large role in breaking the 19th amendment and supplying Chicago with all kinds of alcohol. He corrupted out law enforcement officers and court systems. He became one of the most famous bad guys ; in our history. Lyle Chapman was a member in Eliot Ness s squad, and was largely responsible for gathering information to bring up a liquor conspiracy charge on Capone. He s the one who listened in on the tapped phones and gathered valuable data on what was going on in the underworld. He helped gain information on where breweries were, and where alcohol sales were taking place. His affect on our history was gathering the information responsible for shutting down the biggest Mafia we ve ever had. Without Lyle s in depth reports on alcohol sales and production, Capone would have never been put away. I chose this book because it was the best account of the 1920 s booze wars. It gave the best inside information available on what was actually going on. Also, it told an interesting and exciting story which made it fun to read. I learned alot about how the Mafia conducted it s operation, and what their operation involved. It was interesting to learn how and where they would set up their breweries and how
  • 4. The Incident Of The Fort Hood Shooting On November 5, 2009, the public gained knowledge about an incident that took place at an U.S. Army installation. Maj. Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30 others. He was facing a deployment to one of the many war zones overseas (McFadden, 2009). There are many reports about this incident and what actually took place. From what I ve gathered, Hasan went into a processing center where soldiers go before and after they come back from deployment. After Hasan s shooting rampage, he was finally stopped when Army Military Police (MP) officers shot him a total of four times. He is now paralyzed from the waist down due to the shooting. The Fort Hood shootingmarked the worst shooting ever to take place on a military installation state side, to record. There was almost no structural damage because he used hand guns instead of bombs, or what we call weapons of mass destruction. This attack is classified as a terrorist attack simply because of what the intention was at the beginning. In my own words, terrorist(s) is someone or groups that have different beliefs and want to force their belief onto you by any means necessary, which may include killing if one doesn t comply. The local, state, and federal, as well as military, officers communicated well with each other and responded to the shooting in record breaking time. All of the injured personnel were transported to four different hospitals, to include the base hospital as well.

With a desire to reach the ultimate level of perfection, Aylmer s obsession ultimately creates a path of destruction that tragically ends in the death of his devoted wife, Georgiana. Aylmer was a man knowledgeable scientist had an obsession for perfection in all aspects of life. Aylmer also viewed his wife as being flawless, except for the hand like birth mark that appeared on Georgiana s left cheek. One day, Aylmer sits looking at his wife with many thoughts wondering throughout his mind, Georgiana, said he, has it never occurred to you that the mark upon your cheek might be removed? No, indeed, said she, smiling; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And, Aylmer, spare me not, though you should find the birthmark take refuge in my heart at last. Aylmer was overly joyed with Georgiana s decision and immediately started planning the attempt of removing the birthmark. Aylmer Georgiana, you have led me deeper than ever into the heart of science. Aylmer without ever thinking back on his dream he set forth with the surgery. Georgiana awoke and looked into the mirror to see that the birth mark no longer appeared. Georgianna s birth mark had disappeared but she wasn t at her best, My poor Aylmer, she repeated, with a more than human tenderness, you have aimed loftily; you have done nobly. Do not repent that with so high and pure a feeling, you have rejected the best the earth could offer. Aylmer, dearest Aylmer, I am
  • 6. Native American Poverty Poverty Among Native Americans W.E.B Du Bois once stated to be a poor man is hard, but to be a poor race in a land of dollars is the very bottom of hardships (qtd. in Rodgers 1). The Native American culture is often overlooked by many people in the United States today. What many people do not realize is that about twenty five percent of Native Americans are living in poverty(Rodgers 1). A majority of the poverty among Native Americans is due to the United Statesbreaking treaties that promised funds for their tribes. When non Native Americans first began migrating to North America, the Indians were slowly having their land stripped away from them, and being pushed to live on small, poorly kept reservations. As well as taking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Health care is one thing that should be offered to all no matter what their ethnicity is. Many Native Americans are unaware of opportunities that are available due to the isolation that they face on reservations. In 1992 only seventy eight percent of Native Americans received a high school diploma. This makes Native Americans the least likely of all minority groups, besides Hispanics, to obtain a high school degree. One main reason for Native Americans being unable to obtain a high school diploma is having to leave school to get a job. If a member of their family faces an illness or disability that causes them to be unable to work, the younger members of the family are going to need to help provide for the family. In many cases there is not a disability or illness, Native Americans have very poor wages and are unable to survive on only two incomes. Only eleven percent of Native Americans continues on to college after high school and receives a degree. Being a minority student automatically gives Native Americans a disadvantage. Parents of minority youth tend to have lower levels of education, and this is directly linked to what kind of performance their child will have in school (Donelan 4). In 1995 Native Americans had an overwhelming rate of unemployment at thirty two percent. Since Native Americans are likely to obtain lower levels of education
  • 7. The Bureaucratic System Of Public Administration Introduction How Kristin Died is a prime example of one of the many issues inherent within the bureaucratic system and the misfortunes that can stem from it. This case forever changed the lives of those involved and unfortunately resulted in the death of Kristin Lardner, a 21 year old college student, at the hands of Michael Cartier, her estranged boyfriend. It is important to public administration because public administration contains many issues of hierarchy and redundancy. Public administration also has the power to mold the environments where it is present in many ways. This case is strongly related to organizational theory, the relationship organizations have with the environment and how individuals behave within. When presented, the information within the case surrounding the details of Kristin s death proves that had the bureaucracies involved taken the necessary preventative measures, this tragedy may not have occurred. The main individuals of this case include: Kristin Lardner, Michael Cartier, Tom Case and Rose Ryan. Although others were involved, these individuals had the most influence within the case. Although Lardner was originally from Washington, DC, this event takes place in Boston, Massachusetts, where she attends college in the early 1990 s. History Cartier showed signs of trouble very early on. As a child it is stated that he would light matches behind a gas stove, and even mutilated his pet rabbit. Due to these acts, Cartier s mother sent
  • 8. Comparing Female Beauty In Jacob And Wilhelm Grimm s Snow... John Dela Cruz Professor Shekhtman ENWR 1102 26 9 March 2015 The Importance and Appreciation of Female Beauty Beauty is the most desirable trait a woman can have. It is immediately recognized since it is a feature that is physically evident. A woman who possesses beauty is admired by others and has a higher likelihood of attracting more men, including those that are of high social class. However, not everyone who is beautiful lives a simple life. In Little Snow White, written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, Snow White s beauty leads to the envy and competition, as well as to the infatuation of a desperate prince whom she eventually marries. In addition, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm s tale, Cinderella, also demonstrates how beauty can cause envy, as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although some women are beautiful, some are wiser than others. When her father asks what she wants from his trip to a fair, Cinderella requests for him to ...break off for me the first branch which knocks against your hat on your way home (Grimm 3). One would wonder: why would anyone choose a branch for a gift? On the other hand, both stepsisters, resembling the typical materialistic teenagers in modern society, ask for beautiful dresses. A job where everything was perfect and I progressed quickly, but an unexpected turn of events quickly proved me wrong. I went from having an awesome office job to being unemployed; however, having to find a new start proved to be more beneficial than I expected. My first job at First Transit was everything I wanted and more. For starters, it was located in my home town of Church Point, and the pay was above average for the area. The Shock Factor of A Modest Proposal by by Johnathan Swift Rhetorical Analysis of A Modest Proposal A Modest Proposal by Johnathan Swift was intended to use shock factor as incentive to get the British Parliament to come up with a workable plan to deal with the multitude of poor children in Ireland (Swift). If logic is applied to the proposal, ignoring the fact that the proposal was not meant to be taken seriously and the blatant sometimes over the top sarcasm occasionally used, several parts of it would cause an uproar and quite possibly a revolution if implementation were ever attempted, and there was even a hint that enforcement of it was to occur. • 20. Beowulf Is A Hero Have you ever thought about what a hero means to you? To me, a hero is someone who is courageous and who is admired for the brave accomplishments one has done. Beowulf is the perfect example of a hero. He was brave, selfless, and humble. My grandfather is also a good example of a hero, because he too, is selfless and humble. Beowulf is one of the bravest heroes that I ve heard of. He is also a herothat is courageous. There was once a time when he made the decision to go to battle, however he left many men behind. He chose to go fight alone when he had the option to have his men help him defeat Grendel. Beowulf is not only courageous, but he is a brave soul. He shows us how brave he is by striving to do whatever he can to keep his people safe. He would do, without a doubt, anything to protect his people, and that is one of his biggest qualities. Being brave and courageous aren t Beowulf s only qualities. He is selfless. When Hrothgar dies, he leaves all his good to Beowulf. When he has these goods in his possession, he holds on to them until he dies. When Beowulf eventually passes, he shows his selflessness by giving all the money and treasure to his people. He did this because he wanted to die knowing he helped his people. Beowulf is a humble man. He shows us how humble he is when he goes to fight Grendel. When Beowulf decides to go to battle with Grendel, he chooses to fight him alone. He wants to fight him man to man, with an even battle. He fights Grendel with nothing but himself. He doesn t have his armor, a sword, or even anything at all to fight against him with. Beowulf was the type of man that was okay with dying knowing he would still be famous. He chose to put his life into the hands of Godso if the God s thought it was his time to pass, that was his time, and he was okay with that. Beowulf isn t the only hero out there. Some people have their own heroes they look up to. For myself, my hero is my Grandfather. His name is Kent Lewis, however I call him Pawpaw. He is a well known man for both good and bad. Today he is known for the great man he has become throughout the years. He is a man that strives to be a better man than he was yesterday. My grandfather, like Beowulf, is selfless.

Ignatius does not change throughout the story. This however, is not due to his incapability to change, he is simply not willing to change and he blames Fortuna! on every turn. His unwillingness to change is best said by himself when he The book teaches us to accept that which we cannot change. It describes the plight of a just man in an unjust society. • 29. An Example Of Perseverance In Warriors Don T Cry How many times in life have you struggled but got through a difficult time? That is called perseverance. The definition of perseverance is Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Synonyms are persistence and determination. It originated from the latin word perseverare. Right now the world has been filled with natural disasters, from hurricanes to wildfires. Everyone that this affected has been forced to persevere through it because there is not much that they have the ability to do besides staying strong. In all of the nonfiction literature we have read there were many different examples of perseverance from many different people. I decided to choose three. For my first example Melba Pattillo Beals from Warriors Don t Cry . There is numerous examples of the Little Rock 9 and her doing something despite difficulty. For the second example of perseverance I chose Maya Angelou. Through her life there were countless times that she was faced adversity and still achieved success. My third example is Earl Simmons (DMX) from the book E.A.R.L . He went through a tough time at almost all time growing up and he never gave up and achieved success. Perseverance creates success; therefore, when you stick through something you can accomplish what you want. In the book Warriors Don t Cry Melba Pattillo Beals and the rest of the Little Rock 9 were faced with racism as they were trying to go to a all white school. They all had courage

Page 4 CEO Gary Kelly and What Makes Southwest Airlines So Successful What traits and skills does Kelly possess which make him an effective leader? There is a very simple answer to this. Kelly is a down to earth person who never wanted to be a CEO. He did not want the stress and headaches that went with the position. He started out as a Controller and made his way to the top. He is an accountant, musician, loves sports, and people. His wife Carol states that she s the more talkative and outgoing of the two. But she laughs at her husband s suggestion that he used to be a little shy. He s a born leader, she says. (Reed, 2004) Kelly himself says, however, his leadership abilities are all learned. Being a leader is about character ... being straightforward and honest, having integrity, and treating people right, he says. Kelly can be a demanding boss. But he tries to be more nurturing than neutering in his dealings with employees. (Reed, 2004) Denison says that Kelly can be nurturing almost to a fault. But that, he adds, also is the secret to his ability to get great performance from those who work for him. Gary won t give up on people, Denison says. He will go to extraordinary lengths to help those having trouble

Nowadays, the access to energy is a key point for the development and welfare of a country. With that purpose, all the countries try to push forward their energy sectors, aiming to have enough resources to sustain their growing perspectives. Within the energy sectors, the electricity sector is considered a strategic one, considering the increase of electricity demand occurred during the last 15 years all over the world, and especially in Europe and United States. Many people argue that it should be read how it was written who are known as Originalists. Then there are people who believe that the Constitutionevolves as society does and they are known as Living Constitutionalists. Also, some feel that the goal is not do determine whether the constitution should be determined originally or as a living document, but to give meaning on the basis of facts. In my paper I will discuss arguments on how the Constitution should be read, whether it be from the Originalists or the Living Constitutionalist s point of view, and why Living Constitutionalism is better. As society evolves, there are new and more difficult problems that occur, and they cannot be solved by reading the exact text of the Constitution which makes Living Constitutionalism better. According to Meese Their intention was to write a document not just for their times, but for posterity. (Meese 15) Living Constitutionalists might say this is a very bold statement. The musical was inspired and loosely based on the characters and the story of the book Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. This CD is the original London cast which means that this recording is with the first cast that ever preformed the musical with the actors that created the parts. The musical was written and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber who is one of the most famous musical composers and has composed some of the most well loved musicals of the last fifty years. Webber created incredible and emotional music for Phantom of the Operathat set this musical apart from all the others. One thing that makes Phantom of the Opera a unique musical experience is because it does not try to fit into one genre and does not try to be too modern. This makes it unique because most of today s musicals are trying to be more pop culture. The Phantom of the Opera manages to stay in the time period where the story takes place but weaves in modern comedy and rock music. The most obvious way that this is done is with the main theme of the musical. The pounding of the organ is one of the most well known themes in musical theatreand it is reminiscent of rock music with the guitar but it is different than rock because it is an organ not a guitar. There are many other contrasts between old and new in the musical. One contrast is of musical and opera. The

How can they make decisions that quickly so as to survive in those circumstances? According to Malcom Gladwell, the author of Blink, human beings have an ability to make unconsciously quick decisions, which is called thin slicing, in every split second. Gladwell s concept of thin slicing is defined as the ability of our brain to pick out key patterns within a limited amount of data or experiences and then make snap judgment, or quick decision, based upon those patterns. However, this does not mean that our judgments can always be right. This only means that the process of thin slicing is unconscious, instant and automatic. This process helps people solve problems quickly or predict consequences in a short amount of time without knowing that they are doing it. There are right judgments and there are also mistakes that being made every day. As illustrated in the text, the first task of Blink is to convince you of a simple fact: decisions made very quickly can be every bit as good as decisions made cautiously and deliberately. The second task of Blink is to answer when should we trust our instincts, and when should we be wary of them? The third and most important task of this book is to convince you that our

Now, roman architecture is significant because of how it affected the growth of our architecture, how it evolved changed how we evolved. This will show how roman architecture began as a thing of functionality and grew to a thing of beauty. Roman period Roman architecture was originally founded by the Greeks, and was, in reality, a continuation of Greek architecture. Some say the Romans brought architecture to a new level, I say that the romans just enhanced what was already there. The Romans adopted new techniques, used new materials, and combined existing techniques/materials with creative designs to create new architectural structures. A few examples of these new structures are; the basilica, triumphal arch, aqueduct, amphitheater, granary building, and residential housing. Many of these additions to architecture were spurred by Rome s need to grow. The reason that these buildings grew so large and became so wide spread was because they were funded by a state apparatus, causing these constructions to survive until the present day. The problem is that fossil fuels won t last forever and the solutions are a hot topic amongst the scientific community. Many different solutions have been offered, each with it s pros and cons. Some scientists are arguing for clean and renewable energy like solar or wind, while others claim that we should find more effective ways of mining and using fossil fuels. Neither of these are a single solution that can power the world for an extended period of time. Many have ideas of how we should harness power, however, not many of them could be a permanent solution, unlike nuclear fissionis a cleaner, safer, and more reliable solution. Nuclear Power is, in the timeline of history, relatively new and as such many do not understand how and why it works. Nuclear power creates energy using the process of nuclear fission, the releasing of energy creates steam, which then rises up from the reactor, turning turbines in the process and generating electricity for use. For example, one kilogram of coal produces 8kWh of energy, one kilogram of uranium 235 produces 24,000,000 kWh of power. This allows for much more power to be produced over time compared to other energy sources. This cost would lead to an overabundance and therefore the price of power would decrease, allowing those who previously went without power to have it. • 52. Satires of Education in The Adventures of Huckleberry... In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck is not educated, but through his adventures he proves himself to be more quick witted by outsmarting the educated people throughout the novel. Huck was not raised in what you would consider a proper home and as a result of that he has a lack of education. Huck s pap was the town drunk and for a short period of time, in paps absence, Huck was taken in by Widow Douglas as an attempt to civilize him. The Widow put Huck into school and shortly after his admission he was forced to leave school due to the returning of pap. Pap did not treat Huck in anyway like a father figure would treat his son, I was all over welts. (Twain 24) pap beat on Huck and locked him up whenever he went out just so that... The only thing that distinguishes the two characters is that Tom s motives were based off of the adventure books he s read, whereas Huck has more common sense because all of his motives are based on experience and not fiction. Tom s common sense is compared to Huck s in chapter 3 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn when Tom claims that (he fought a pack of Spaniards and A rabs) [Huck says], But there warn t no Spaniards and A rabs, and there warn t no camels nor no elephants. It warn t anything but a Sunday school picnic... (Twain 13) So then I judged that all that stuff was one of Tom Sawyers lies. I reckoned he believed in the A rabs and elephants, but for me I think different (Twain 14). Mark Twain satires society and portrays it as being uncivilized with drunkenness (Nyirubugara). As mentioned in the beginning of the novel, Pap is the first person introduced as being a drunk. Pap did not like the fact that Huck was becoming smarter than him and when he regained custody of Huck he made sure that Huck stopped going to school. Since Huck was no longer in school, he spent most of his days protecting himself from his drunken father s abuse, so once he ran away it was not hard for him to shift into adulthood. Huck s morality started to change soon after he allowed Jim, a runaway slave, to come along with him on his adventure to freedom. This decision shocked me but, as a result of Huck meeting
  • 53. Description Of The Disorder. What If You Were Physically Description of the Disorder What if you were physically paralyzed, conscious, and unable to communicate? You would feel locked in, trapped in your body, constantly searching for a way to communicate with the outside world. Locked in Syndrome is a rare condition in which a patient is unable to produce any form of movement or verbal communication. An individual with Locked in Syndrome (LIS) is affected by tetraplegia, which is the partial or complete paralysis of the limbs in the human body (Villines, 2015); an additional symptom includes anarthria, or the inability to produce speech, which results from a loss of function in the speech muscles and a difficulty articulating words (Vega, 2016). Patients affected by LIS are often described as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A patient with classical LIS has the potential to improve dramatically over a prolonged amount of time. In contrast, the recovery for patients with incomplete or total LIS may take more time and appears more difficult to accomplish. Symptoms of LIS are similar to those that occur during sleep paralysis; however, LIS is not considered a transitional state between being awake and asleep. Some characteristic of LIS include a difficulty breathing, and the inability to chew, swallow, speak, and control movements in the lower area of the face. Locked in Syndrome is not more prevalent in any age, race, nor gender. However, individuals prone to stroke and traumatic brain injury victims are more likely to become locked in. In addition, there is no standard course for this disorder; the development of LIS is abrupt, rather than progressive, and diagnosis may take years. Etiology and Associated Medical Information How can an individual be cognitively locked in? Locked in Syndrome can be caused by poisoning, brainstem strokes, infarctions, traumatic brain injuries, medication overdose, and progressive neurodegenerative diseases. Common neurodegenerative diseases that may potentially be affected by Locked in Syndrome (LIS) include: amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, myelin loss, and the inflammation of nerves. LIS is often a result of damage afflicted on the pons, an area on the brainstem in charge of sensory and motor roles.
  • 54. Eq02 Life Monitor Cold climates have proven to be associated with a range of health risks including frostbite and hypothermia. According to a study by Gasparrini et al (2015) published in The Lancet, cold temperature is responsible for advancing approximately 7.29% of deaths between 1985 and 2009 for 13 countries including Canada. Elderly people are at a particularly high risk for cold related mortality due to mental, cardiovascular, and respiratory illnesses. Elderly people are more vulnerable to hypothermia as the body s ability to regulate temperatureand sense cold lessens with age. Additionally, many elderly people are not able to communicate when they are cold or are not mobile enough to get to warmth. A global meta analysis by Yu et al (2011) involving almost 13 million elderly deaths concluded that for each 1 ВєC decrease in temperature there was a 1 2% increase in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This device differs from previously discussed models in terms of the method of temperature measurement. The LifeMonitor relies on a core temperature capsule, VitalSense, that is ingested and transmits readings to the sensor electronics module (SEM) in real time (Figure 3). This device has recently been replacing the current tympanic thermometer used by firefighters to reduce the risks such as cardiac arrest. In a study by McKenzie Osgood (2004) the accuracy of the VitalSense system was measured against that of a rectal thermometer as comparison. The observed level of agreement between the two devices (0.04 ВєC) suggests that the VitalSense is a viable alternative to consider for measurement of core temperature. However, the core temperature was not recorded on several occasions due to an inactive capsule. The transit time of the capsule varied from 0.52 to 5.6 days therefore requiring many capsules for use throughout cold winter months which would be very

I often recall the time we discussed about relationship between Korea and U.S. until the day before I departed Korea. Mr. Low arrived on the west coast of Korea during the later part of May 1871 on board the flagship Colorado, along with four other ships of the Asiatic Fleet under the command of Rear Admiral John Rodgers. Having anchored off the mouth of the Han River, and desiring to examine approaches to Seoul, Rodgers sent out a Navy surveying party on one June. The survey party, while working its way up the channel (Salee River), was fired upon by one of the five forts which protected the approach to the Han River. After waiting 10 days to give the Korean officials time to apologize, Rodgers and Low decided to carry out punitive measures in response to the hostile action. On 10 June, Marine Captain McLane Tilton with 3 officers and 105 Marines, who comprised part of the landing force, led the assault against the Korean forts. After taking two of the forts without much difficulty, Tilton then led his Marines against the heavily fortified Citadel. During the ensuing battle, which required hand to hand combat, Marine Corporal Charles Brown and Private Hugh Purvis made their way to the flagstaff and tore down the enemy flag. There is no doubt that the Americans felt themselves victorious; they had lost three men, the Koreans 350. Although no successful treaty was immediately

It s estimated there were at least 250 slave rebellions in America before slavery was abolished in 1865.Most tales of what happened during those rebellions could be bias seen as they were written by whites rather than by the slaves that started the revolt.
