Veteran Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Veteran Essays" can be a challenging yet deeply rewarding
endeavor. The difficulty arises from the multifaceted nature of the topic, which requires a
nuanced understanding of military service, the experiences of veterans, and the broader societal
context. The complexity lies not only in presenting factual information but also in capturing the
emotional and psychological aspects that define the veteran experience.
To begin with, one must delve into the history of military service and explore the diverse roles
veterans play in society. Understanding the unique challenges they face, ranging from combat-
related trauma to the process of reintegrating into civilian life, adds another layer of intricacy to
the essay. The writer must navigate through a plethora of emotions – gratitude, sorrow, pride,
and sometimes even controversy – that surround the topic.
Moreover, the essay should not only convey the individual stories of veterans but also shed light
on the broader issues they face, such as the need for mental health support, employment
opportunities, and societal recognition. Striking a balance between personal narratives and
statistical data requires finesse to maintain the essay's cohesion and relevance.
Additionally, the sensitivity of the subject demands careful consideration of language and tone.
The writer must be respectful and empathetic, avoiding potential pitfalls that could inadvertently
trivialize or oversimplify the experiences of veterans. Balancing objectivity with compassion is an
intricate dance that requires a thoughtful approach.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Veteran Essays" is indeed a formidable task that necessitates
a deep understanding of military culture, empathy for the individuals involved, and the ability to
address complex issues with both heart and intellect. However, successfully navigating these
challenges can result in a powerful piece that not only educates but also fosters a greater
appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who have served.

Gaddaf s Political Injustice In I Mr
A citizen has many responsibilities when faced with political injustice. The main
responsibility is to take action. In both Of Love and Shadows and in the dictator
Muammar Gaddafi. According to biography.com, Gaddafi used aggressive force to
try to suppress the protests, and the violence quickly escalated. Police and foreign
mercenaries were brought in to shoot at protesters, and helicopters were sent to
bombard citizens from the air. As casualties mounted, Libyans grew more determined
to see Gaddafi s ouster. As violence spread through the country, Gaddafi made several
rambling speeches on state television, claiming the demonstrators were traitors,
foreigners, al Qaeda and drug addicts. He urged his supporters to continue the fight,...

After all that, the rebels got into the capital: they surprised the world, and perhaps
themselves, with their lightning descent on the capital and their conquest of the
Bab al Aziziya barracks that vast, forbidding high walled fortress, home, seat of
power, and above all, crass, iconic, absurdist symbol of Gaddafi and all his works.
It was only a matter of time before National Transitional Council forces took control
of the rest of the country, and even Sirte finally provided no refuge. This quote shows
The rebels taking the final steps to get rid of their government taking action against
their government because they saw the injustice in what gaddafi was doing.
Furthermore in Of Love and Shadows by Isabelle Allende the two main characters
Irene and Francisco are going to a mine to see if they can find the body of
Evangelina Flores: Francisco attacked the entrance with his pick. He had little skill
when it came to physical labor ; he scarcely knew how to handle the pick, and soon
realized that the job would take longer than they had planned (Allende, 188). This
quote shows Francisco opening the mine at any cost to find the body of Evangelina
Ranquilo because they saw the injustice of the government taking her in the middle of
Antinomianism In John Gorton s Poly
these are two, and never more, nor yet lesse, yea ever the same, they are Olive trees,

like a jumble of writing, Burnham reveals that if analyzed that it is Gorton asking his
Massachusetts neighbors to task for practicing a legalistic Puritanism that mistakes
visible works (or sanctification) for the invisible justification of grace (Burnham
441). This shows his opinion on the religion in the area, but as the reader already
knows from the article, Gorton is seen as antinomianism by the puritans in the area.
His writing always has religious undertones, which exhibit his own opinions and
those of his followers, but he connects his theological views with his antimonopoly...

Obviously, this is something that can be refuted, as all history can. If one looks at
different sources and examines different areas or even examines it in a different
light, a different conclusion can be made, but through all of the information given
in her article, the reader can be convinced to agree with her. Before this article,
Samuel Gorton was is often an unknown historical figure, but through her character
development, all sides of his personality, his work and the events and his dissent,
he turns into a understandable man who lived in the time period, along with what
a Leveller is and what they support. She establishes Gorton as a Leveller by
comparing and contrasting the beliefs of the group to Gorton s personal beliefs
exhibited through his writing, actions, religion and the writing of other about him.
However, to make this argument more solid, she could have introduced more of a
background on Levellers, because even with her definition and description they
appear as sort of an ambiguous group, due to her focus almost completely on the
ideas of theirs that coincide with Gorton s. Overall, as Burnham securely establishes
in her article, Samuel Gorton is a Leveller, in puritan New England that caused many
problems due to his differing theological and political views which he expressed
Snow White Comparison
The Creepiest of Them All Once upon a time in the far away land of Dubuque,
there was a girl in a writing class. This girl grew up loving everything about fairy
tales and princesses, until one day all of her dreams were crushed. Many children
grew up hearing or watching fairy tales, but those fairy tales had been censored with
fairygodmothers and furry creatures. The originals and revisions were far more
gruesome. One fairy talein particular describes the life of a little girl called Snow
White. In both versions of Snow White, she is beautiful, the Queen is beautiful, and
the prince is freaky. The differences between Little Snow White and Snow, Glass,
Apples lie in their moral backgrounds, there is a characteristic reversal between Snow
White and the Queen, murder, and exploitation of a child.
The original, Little Snow White, began with Snow White s mother, the Queen,
making a wish to one day have a daughter, that was a white as snow, as red as
blood, and as black as ebony wood (Grimm.) Her wish came true when her daughter
Snow White was born, but the Queen soon realized motherhood was not for her. She
was so jealous of her daughter s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Prince. In almost every fairy tale there is a Prince who comes to save the day,
win the girl, and live happily ever after. The original Snow White shows a bit of
this when a young Prince stops at the dwarfs house for the night and becomes
taken by Snow White s beauty... As she lies dead in a coffin. At first look, the
gesture seems romantic. He is so overcome with her beauty that he wants to buy her
from the dwarfs. This part of the Snow White s story has remained similar in many
versions, but many readers miss the underlying message. The Prince is a
necrophiliac and since Snow White is still a child, a pedophile. His fetishes have
been romanticized in an attempt to keep the moral composite of the fairy tale
Essay On Classical Style
Topic Sentence:
The Classical style was founded during the creation of the ancient Greek civilization
and was the style that was a combination of beauty, order, and proportion.
Definition:
The Classical style can be defined as the artistic style of the ancient Greeks. The style
was widely used within the fine arts and put great emphasis on symmetry and
harmony.
Context
The Classical style was an important feature of the Humanities of the ancient Greeks.
There are two main features I want to illustrate about the Classical style: Sculpture
and architecture. This style is the heart of classicism that was the search for perfection.
Example(s):
The first example of the Classical style that I am going to talk about is Greek

focused on the accuracy of human anatomy and stance.
The Parthenon is known for being one of the greatest achievements of the Athenians.
The massive building is a work of perfection and beauty. The Parthenon, which took
ten years to build was placed on the highest point of the Acropolis that overlooks the
Athenian City. Constructed entirely of marble and embellished with sculptures, the
Parthenon is one of the finest examples of the Classical style. It has columns that are
specific to the Classical style.
Relationship:
The main contributions of Classical style are sculptures and architecture. The canon
that made active use of that principle of proportion known as symmetry corresponds
to both the architecture and the sculptures. My overall perspective and assessment of
Classical style are that Classical style had strong influences on the development of
humanities of ancient Greece. It was an important part of the development of ancient
Greek art. It the principle of proportion, order, and harmony and greatly influenced

Examples Of Voyeurism In Rear Window
AWe re a race of Peeping Toms. People ought to get out of their homes and look at
themselves.
What is the film s message about the ethics of voyeurism?
Voyeurism is originally defined as the practice of gaining sexual pleasure from
watching others when they are naked or engaged in sexual activity . However, the
term is also used to describe a general spying on, or having interest in, other people s
lives. This kind of voyeurism is the central theme for Alfred Hitchcock s mystery
thriller, Rear Window (1954). The film follows the boredom induced curiosity of
photographer L.B. Jeff Jefferies. Bound to his wheelchair with a broken leg, he has
little to do with his time, and finds himself looking into and involving himself in, the
lives of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the journey ends, we are left to contemplate the morality surrounding
voyeurism, and Hitchcock s own proposal about the nature of the practice.
Voyeurism in its generic form, has long been considered unethical due to its
invasive nature. Most people would agree that spying on others is an invasion of
privacy, and would look down on those peering into other s lives. This viewpoint is
expressed in the opening scene of the film by Jefferies insurance worker, Stella. She
makes her entrance stating that The New York state sentence for a peeping tom is
six months in the workhouse... . She goes on to say that his behaviour has her
smelling trouble right here in [his] apartment and mimics his hypothetical court
appearance. Lisa Freemont, Jefferies girlfriend, also comments on the issue, first
when Jefferies tells her of his suspicions of Lars Thorwald; labelling his wild
opinions as diseased while defensively giving alternate reasons for all of Jefferies
questions about Thorwald. Including these women, no character in the film, initially,
encourages Jefferies voyeurism. Instead they explicitly downplay and dismiss it. Both

Politics In The Quiet Revolution
The Quiet Revolution is characterized as the events that took place in Quebec
following the death of Quebec s conservative Premier Maurice Duplessis in 1959
and the election of Jean Lesage and his Liberals the following year. The era marked
a period of unprecedented political and social change for the province and also the
development of the Quebecois identity. Under Lesage, the Laissez Faire ideology,
dominant from 1945 to 1960, gave way to energetic activism. Government action
became the response to internal conflicts and provincial control was extended over
many industries that were previously privately owned. Alongside with these rapid
changes in the structure and responsibilities of Quebec s government, the notion grew

regarding the sovereignty movement in Quebec and the state of Canadian

federal government on how to strengthen national unity and consequently abate the
Quebec sovereignty movement. The sum total of the efforts made by the Task Force

Gullivers Travels Essay
Gulliver amp;#8217;s Travels, by Jonathan Swift, is regarded as one of the greatest
satires in modern history. The purpose of the book, although some of his
contemporaries didn amp;#8217;t realize it, is to ridicule his government, his rulers,
and human nature as a whole. His generalization of the human condition doesn
amp;#8217;t manifest itself completely until Part IV of the book, where the main
character, Lemuel Gulliver, finds himself on an island inhabited by two main species
amp;#8211; the Houyhnhnms, horse like animals, and the Yahoos, human like
animals. The difference between this island and reality as we know it is the fact that

This seems too inhuman, and it appears that it would be impossible to be that
intelligent and noble, yet still disregard the importance of death. Overall, however,
Gulliver amp;#8217;s view of the Houyhnhnm is a perfectionistic vision of how
human nature, for the most part, should be amp;#8211; ruled by reason.
The amp;#8220;negative ; extreme of human nature that Gulliver encounters is the
Yahoos. The Yahoos are naked, dirty creatures that physically resemble humans:

in this abominable animal, a perfect human figure amp;#8230; ; (Swift 186).
Immediately, Gulliver does not want to be considered one of the Yahoos. He never
takes off his clothes to reveal his likeness to the Yahoo body. The Houyhnhnms
still regard Gulliver, however, as either a amp;#8220;noble Yahoo ; or something in
between a Yahoo and a Houyhnhnm it seems they are unable to decide. At one
point, one of the Houyhnhnms describes Gulliver amp;#8217;s body to be
extremely inefficient: amp;#8220;That I could not walk with any security, for if
either of my hinder feet slipped, I must inevitably fall. He then began to find fault
with other parts of my body, the flatness of my face, the prominence of my nose, my

years to film The Nightmare Before Christmas? There is a huge controversy
surrounding this movie. Some people believe that this great movie was more of a

Halloween Movie than a Christmas movie. My first reason for my thoughts on this
movie being a Halloween movie is that the main setting of The Nightmare Before
Christmas is Halloweentown. In my opinion I would say that only about 1/5 of the
movie The Nightmare Before Christmas is in a different setting. Jack Skelington, the
main character, lives in Halloweentown. In Halloweentown their is pumpkins,
people celebrate Halloween, and everyones scares on Halloween .Everything in

The s Work Displayed How Women
Friedan s work displayed how women were regressing back into the role of
homemaker, which was their most valued role under the influence of the mystique.
The McCarthyite period caused much unrest in America because of the creation of
the ideology of gender roles. Freidan argues:
The public image, in the magazines and television commercials, is designed to sell
washing machines, cake mixes...but the power of that image...comes from this:
American women no longer know who they are. They are sorely in need of a new
image to help them find their identity (Friedan, 1992, c1963: 63 64).

This metaphor of the fig tree presents how Esther is given many opportunities in her
life but it seems that society will not let her fulfil them all. Plath here relates Esther s
anxieties over her future to more general problems with gender roles. Janet Badia
contends:
Esther s frustration is not unreasonable given the societal constrictions regarding
women s roles in mid century America...the problem lies in her desire to have what
society tells her is impossible... Esther is told again and again that her choices, while
hers to make, will have repercussions she cannot control (Badia, 2008: 133).
She does not like how men get the choice to pick a family and a career. Especially
when Buddy views her as Crazy and neurotic. [She] could never settle down in
either the country or the city. (89) Buddy makes us assume that the only sane
choice for women is to become a wife, even though Esther questions this value
system her fear of inadequacy makes her see the branches in a negative light. She
finds these stereotypical genders roles very unattractive and does not believe men
should be able to dictate a women s life. Thus, she is resisting against these gender
roles that are placed on her by the society especially as Plath was writing at the time
of second wave feminism, which was trying to reassert these roles but by resisting
she is showing how
Victorian Era Games
Have you ever wondered what games were played in the Victorian Era. There are
many different types of games that you can play, but I m just going to give a few
examples of what games they played back then. First game that we are going to talk
about is Lawn Tennis. Lawn Tennis was first invented in 1874. Tennis was one of the
most enjoyed sports in the Victorian Era, although tennis can be traced to fourteenth
century France. The gamewas played in nineteenth century United States, but it was
invented in England. Major T.H . Gem and Mr. Perera are created with creating the
game. The first tennis tournament was played at Nahant, Massachusetts, in 1876.
William Appleton, James Dwight, and Fred R. Sears organized the event. Dwight and
Sears battled their way through the rest of the competition and they met in the finals.
Dwight beat Sears three to zero sets.
Another popular game that was played in the Victorian Era is Twenty Questions.
Twenty Questions is a classic that has been played during the 19th century. What you

Blue Whale Adaptations
Despite its abundance, in quantity the blue whale is now considered to be an
endangered species. Blue Whales have been hunted for centuries, they can also be
found in most oceans and because of this they make an easy target for hunters. A
unique feature of the Blue Whale is that they are the largest mammalin existence they
can grow up to 30 meters long and weigh up to 190 tons. Due to its size they are the
hunter s ultimate prize hence why they are endangered. Despite its size, its diet
consists of some of the smallest marine life such as, krill, shrimp and so on.
(Zach s Introduction.)
There are at least three distinct subspecies. The Blue Whale is found in the Indian
Ocean and South Pacific Ocean. Its habitat prefers the open ocean but can
sometimes be seen offshore of coastal states. The change in ocean temperature
would also affect the blue whale s food supply. Stated are three main regions for the
Blue Whale which are North Pacific Atlantic also The Southern Hemisphere. It has
many adaptations that allow it to survive in its environment. It does not allow it to

Research On The Financial Performance Of The English...
This dissertation was written to examine whether the financial performance of the
English Premier League and the sampled clubs improved after UEFA introduced
their Financial Fair Play regulations. This led to the comparison of the results for
the league in general and individual clubs over a ten year period (2004 2015). This
ten year period was broken down into two parts: FFP1 which represented years
prior to the Financial Fair Play introduction (2004 2009) and FFP2 representing post
Financial Fair Play years (2010 2015). The previous chapter discussed each
hypothesis and provided the results achieved. Therefore, the aim of this chapter will

Collectively, two out of the six clubs had experienced an increase in profitability,
whether it was a reduction in losses when comparing both periods or an increase in
profits. This meant that the clubs relevant turnovers exceeded their expenses. For
example, only Chelsea and Tottenham both recorded improvements in their
profitability with Chelsea having the highest loss reduction percentage of 70%.;
whereas the other four clubs did not improve their profitability over this period.
Although Arsenal maintained profits throughout the FFP2 period averaging ВЈ22.1
million a year, it still managed to gain a decrease in profits. These results may
seem befuddling as Arsenal were the only club not to make any losses during the 10
year period. Overall, the results show that although the Premier league increased its
profitability, the collective sampled club s results differed. The losses in the FFP1
period collectively totalled ВЈ371 million; whereas the losses in the FFP2 period
collectively totalled ВЈ461 million. For there to be an improvement of profitability,
the cumulative losses in FFP1 must be greater than the cumulative losses in the FFP2
period. This suggests profitability decreased after the introduction of Financial Fair
Play. However, the story differs with individual clubs as they all reacted differently.
5.2 Hypothesis 2 The second hypothesis of this dissertation implied that the

Fluoridation it is when Fluoride is put into the water system. In this context, it is

Community water fluoridation is a safe and effective way of preventing tooth decay at

Yet fluoride is not found in its pure form in nature only combined with other

Which choice rule makes the most sense to use in this analysis, and why? What
market share could Kirin achieve with this new product? Can Kirin do even better,
i.e., achieve a higher market share, with an even more optimal product design?
Explain.
A. The maximum utility choice rule makes more sense to use in the analysis as it
models the real world market better than the share of preference choice rule, which
is a tempting option since it corresponds to frequently bought product items. The
latter tends to equally distribute the preference of brands, which is not true in the
real world scenario. We would have opted for the Alpha rule as it is a combination
of share of preference and maximum utility, but due to unavailability of the market
shares data, we were unable to do so. We think Alpha choice model would have been
perfect.
By using the maximum utility model Kirin is positioned to achieve 4% of the
market share, which is 1% larger than Sapporo. Thus reaching the goal to be the
number one Japanese beer brand in the USA beer market. (Refer to figure

Fashion In Japanese Fashion
Whenever someone mentions Japan, what would a normal person think of? They
could possibly think of their cuisine, anime, or their bustling capital of Tokyo. Yet,
when fashion is added to the question, what are the first thoughts? Surely, their
traditional clothing of kimonos and yukatas may be the first thought for some, but
some might think of the popularized street fashionthat they see in the media: the
gyaru, lolitas, and genderless kei. Yet, their daily clothinghas been adapted to women
wearing skirts and men wearing suits. Without a doubt, they are looking like the rest
of the world of which the West has influenced; they are no longer one of a kind in
terms of modern fashion. In order for them to retrieve their uniqueness in the fashion
world, the Japanese branded themselves with their many different styles of fashion,
but could not have done so without the strong influence of the media. One of the
most recent bang of exploding popularity Japanese fashionstyles is the genderless
fashion. Genderless fashion can be seen in many different styles, including the
street and in high fashion. Particularly, it is most popular in the streets of large
Japanese cities. In areas such as Harajuku, it is not uncommon to see the renowned
genderless kei and genderless gyaru walking around, and it is slowly becoming a
norm for Japanese people to see these types of fashion. British magazine company, i

Essay On Check Your Fluids
Maintaining your vehicle is essential, not just to ensure its longevity but also to make
it safe. Without proper maintenance, your car could pose a risk to you, your
passengers, and others. Skipping maintenance tasks might save you a little money,
but it could carry a much more serious cost. Take your car maintenanceseriously by
following this ultimate guide.
Check Your Fluids
Check Oil Monthly
Motor oil prevents your car s metal engine components from coming in contact with
one another, reducing friction and preventing overheating. Over time, however, oil
breaks down and picks up contaminants, such as water vapor, unburned fuel, and
gases from the combustion process. Change your oil regularly to protect your motor
and prevent it from seizing while you re on the road. ... Show more content on

Park on a flat surface, pop the hood, and pull out the dipstick. Wipe off the oil,
replace the dipstick, and pull it out again. The oil should reach the full line and look
clear and viscous. If it s a little low, top off your oil. If it s significantly low or
appears black or thick, it s time for an oil change. Even if your oil appears fine,
replace it as often as your owner s manual suggests.
Monitor Transmission Fluid Level and Appearance
Your car s transmission fluid keeps the gears moving smoothly. A low transmission
fluid level can cause your car s components to overheat, and your vehicle may miss
gears while you re on the road. Check your transmission fluid every month, and
replace the fluid according to your manual s instructions.
The process for checking transmission fluid is similar to checking the oil, although
you do it with the engine running. Make sure the fluid appears smooth and clean,
and top it off if the level is low. If you notice any metal flakes or chunky bits, have
your mechanic check it out.

Battle Of The Bulge Research Paper
This is undoubtedly the greatest American battle of the war.... . This quote from the
Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, is about none other than the
Battle of the Bulge. The Battle of the Bulge was the largest battle fought on the
Western Front in Europe during World War II, and it sealed the fate of the Axis
Powers. The battle was a final attempt made by the Germans to split the the American
and British armies in France and the Low Countries. The Germans also wanted to
retake the port of Antwerp to prevent the Allies from using the port facilities. The
Battle of the Bulge lasted a month, beginning on December 16, 1944, and ending on
January 16, 1945. This battle is also known as the Ardennes Offensive because the 80
mile front ran through the Ardennes Forest. The war was fought between the

On January 8, German troops withdrew from the tip of the bulge . The losses
caused by this battle were critical. The last of the German reserves were gone, the
Luftwaffe was weaker than ever, the German army in the west was being forced to
retreat back, and the Eastern Front was open to be taken by the Soviets. With most
of its military power gone, Germany had just about nothing left to defend itself, and
its final defeat loomed just a couple months away. The Battle of the Bulge was a
very important event in World War II, because it was viewed as Hitler s last major
offensive in the war. Americans suffered around 75,000 casualties and the British
lost about 1,400 soldiers. But, the damage done to the Axis powers was even worse.
120,000 German soldiers were killed in the battle, and another 100,000 were taken
prisoner. The German army was pretty much wiped out and it was nearly impossible
for them to launch another attack on the Allies, which brought about the end of

The Amish Essay example
In the mid the seventeenth century, the Amish movement was founded in Europe at
the time of the Protestant Reformation. They are derived from a group impatient with
the pace of reform in the existing churches. One of the main issues is baptism. A
group of Anabaptists practise adult baptism. Religion is the basis of Amishlife. They
believe they must obey God at all times.
To the Amish family, life is highly valued. Like other aspects of Amish life, it
conforms to traditional attitudes and values. Courtship to the Amish is usually
secretive, and the couples intention to wed must only be publicly announced 2 weeks
before the wedding. Amish weddings usually occur on a Tuesday or Thursday to fit in

that married women work only within the family home. Older males also have a

there have been several court cases over the last few years where Amish youth have

Instead, networks based on personal connections serve to organize market oriented
economic behavior according to informal norms reflecting the private expectations of

Social And Political Views Of Democracy
Democracy offers people the chance to be involved citizens rather than unreceptive
subordinates. However, this right doesn t come unchallenged. Citizens are required
to assess a broad range of political subjects (such as candidates, parties, and policies)
and then combine and simplify their likings in a way that allows them to choose on
voting decisions. So, how are these challenges met? In the United States, some
citizens are conservative Republics, some are liberal Democrats, and others fall in
between or outside the two. Recent studies have proposed that these recognitions
play an important part in voting behavior and political perception. Recently,
however, more studies have accumulated advocating for two meager assumptions in
regards to this study: that liberal/conservative identifications are bipolar in meaning
and that underlying this bipolarity is cognitive meaning based on political issues
(Conover, Feldman, 265). These variances in political positions are called political
attitudes, and fall on a spectrum between extremely liberal and extremely
conservative. Broadly speaking, this spectrum distinguishes what someone believes
about social issues and governments role in society. These beliefs are formed by a
variation of aspects, which can include family, gender, religion, race, ethnicity,
socioeconomic status and region. Even things like behavior, core ideals and values,
and ideologycan affect people s political attitudes.
However, these opinions are not set in

instruc tion is made via digital media devices, I will be using qualitative methods
such as, observations and a focus group, to assess the gains being made, and the
behavioral outcomes that occur direct ly after technology has been used by the

Data Collection
The primary data collection method of this study is observations. I intend to reflect
on my own beliefs daily, in order to remain as objective as possible. Data collection
conducted through observations alone can produce filtered results based on the
perspective of the observer. That is one of the issues that I anticipate to arise when

before and after collecting observational data. With a concrete definition of the term
behavioral outcomes and daily reconnaissance, I believe this will provide me with an

Negative Essay On Vegetarianism
Environmental issues such as global warming, water pollution, climate change and
many more, are influencing every human, animal, and nation. There are many other
ways to reduce the impacts but I will discuss vegetarian or vegan diet. A vegetarian
diet is when a diet does not have meat, poultry, or fish, while a vegan diet further
excludes dairy products. By excluding meat, poultry or dairy products from our diets,
we can protect our earth planet, as producing meat causes more greenhouse gases
emissions than any other environmental impact. To supply more meat for
consuming, companies are creating more space for farm factories by destroying
our forests. Factories mistreat animals to gain more profits by giving them drugs to
grow bigger, faster. To raise animals, they moreover need an immense amount of
land, food, energy and water, that is using our precious resources. The more meat
we eat, the more meat is produced, and the more the resources are used in raising
animals. We must stop now and make the correct choices. Vegetarian or vegan diets
are healthy as they contain the nutritious including the protein that our bodies need.
If everyone becomes a vegetarian or vegan fewer supply will be used, animals won t
be mistreated by companies and we will lead nutritious, healthy lives while living in a
healthy environment.
Introduction:
Our earth planet is facing heaps of environmental effects such as global warming,
acid rain, air pollution, urban sprawl, waste disposal, ozone layer depletion, water
pollution, climate change and much more, due to our careless actions and
behaviours towards our environment. (Fehu Finds Solution, n.d., para. 1) Affecting
every human, animal, nation and will continue to do so if we don t amend our
actions. In the past, because of our negligence, we have seen natural disaster in the
form of floods, tsunamis and cyclones. If we make the right choices and take
corrective actions, we can protect and secure the future of our next generations.
While, so many countless other ways to protect our earth, but I will discuss if
everyone becomes vegetarian or vegan, how we can help protect our environment. I
will argue for this topic as I strongly believe in following a plant based diet. Here are
Knee Joint Research Paper
The Knee Joint (tibiofemoral joint) is a bicondylar synovial joint named a hinge
joint, which permits flexion and extension with a slight degree of medial and lateral
rotation. The joint is formed by the two articulations between the femur, tibia and
patella. The joint consists of two articulations. The Tibiofemoral, which is, the medial
and lateral condyles of the femur that articulate with the tibial condyles. The second

The knee has two collateral ligaments, which are strap like ligaments, that stabilises
the hinge motion of the knee to prevent excess medial and lateral movement. The
Tibial (medial) collateral ligament originates on the medial side of the joint. It
attaches to the medial side of the tibia to prevent forces applied to the lateral side of
the knee from moving the knee medially. The Fibular (lateral) ligament is a thin and
rounder ligament that attaches laterally to the epicondyle of the femur to the fibular
head. The knee joint has two internal ligaments, the anterior and posterior cruciate
ligaments which contribute to maintain the proper alignment of the knee. The
anterior cruciate ligament attaches to the anterior intercondylar region of the tibia
where it mergers with the medial meniscus. Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL),
located behind the ACL, which extends obliquely from the surface of the medial
condyle of the femur to the posterior intercondylar space of the tibia. The PCL
prevents the posterior dislocation of the tibia onto the femur. The medial and lateral
menisci are fibrocartilage structures in the knee that, protect and cushion the joint
surface and bone ends and increases stability of the joint. They are C shaped in
appearance and attach at both ends of the intercondylar
The Reasons For The English Settlers Leaving Great Britain
The main reason for the English settlers leaving Great Britain was for the people to
have more religious freedoms. Some of the colonist also did it for wealth, for
some it wasn t free to travel and get a new start on the other side of the world
isolated from what they are accustomed to. There are always different reasons from
a person to family as to why they came to America but for the part it was to be able
to freely practice religion the way the colonists wanted to. In the meanwhile the
colonist when coming into contact with the natives considered them savages and
needed to be converted to a true religion, the right one, Protestantism. Even the
romanticized Captain John Smith believed that Powhatan and the natives were
savages, when the natives clearly stated they were fearful as to what would
happen to them. Coming to the new world the colonists were extremely
unprepared for the dead of winter and many had died but they had a strong reliance
on the Native Americans to help, unfortunately later on quite a few colonies
double crossed them and killed a lot of the Native American tribes. The English
was able to take land because the Native Americans had no concept of property,
they believed it was given to everyone. Of course not every colony was the same
and the way they treated the land, for example people in the Chesapeake had
warmer climates and more fertile soil to offer for farming whereas in New England
the soil was rocky and slightly colder climates which made it

school by their students. Students often think the importance of school is to help
you prepare for a job. From experience, many people disagree with this. Not only
does school help you prepare for a job, it helps students learn basic life skills and
what s going on in the world. Schoolis important for getting a good job, succeeding
in life, and learning a vocation. Some students dropout of high school by the time
they turn eighteen. They often think they re making the right choice. From
experience, dropping out of high school is not the best idea. This happens because
either they have poor academic performance, their parents don t encourage them, and
they have work/economic needs. This essay will help inform students, teachers, and

James Lovelock Research Paper
James Lovelock is a scientist, environmentalist, and futurist from Dorset, England
who is greatly known for proposing his Gaia Hypothesis in the 1960s. He had his
own belief that the Earth was its own self regulating, independent system. This
complex system is made up of biotic and abiotic factors that interact, and evolve
together to form a single organism. Although many environmentalists do agree with
Lovelock s ideas, there are also scientists who do not accept his ideas. Many scientists
disagree with him due to their belief in the contradiction of natural selection.
Lovelock first formulated this hypothesis while working with NASAto detect whether

The Earth is thought to be a self regulating system, and considered a living organism
that optimizes conditions of life for itself. This system as a whole has homeostatic
mechanisms that are responsible for maintaining a physical and chemical
environment that is fit for life on the planet. Processes such as the interaction of
living forms such as microorganisms with inorganic elements are essential for
sustaining conditions of life. These processes establish a global control system that is
in charge of many different variables such as: controlling the global temperature,
atmospheric content, and the ocean salinity.
There were many scientists that did not agree with Lovelock s ideas. Many of these
scientists were evolutionary scientists who supported Darwin s trait of natural
selection. Natural selection is how life is maintained through the competition
between individuals for reproductive success. Evolutionary biologists do not believe
that Earth was produced by natural selection, and therefore, do not think it is a living
thing. d
Many people continue to support Lovelock s Gaia theory today. A very wide variety
of ecosystems and individual organisms working together to create one living thing
is beyond fascinating. However, Lovelock s research is still very controversial. The
question still remains whether life manipulates the planet and its processes for itself,

Love In Place Poem By Nikki Giovanni
Love, it is not something a being can hold nor something a person can obtain on
demand. It is something that is felt inside, it shakes us to our core and is
sometimes the only explanation for our unusual behavior. This is what Nikki
Giovanni felt when writing both poems Love in Place and I Wrote a Good Omelet.
In I Wrote a Good Omelet Giovanni describes all the confusion she experiences
after loving you. She can no longer do all the normal activities she is used to doing
ever since being in love. As for in Love in Place Giovanni speaks of how she believes
she must have fell in love before due to the changes in her behavior she had. Though
I Wrote A Good Omelet focuses on a present form of being in love with the use of

Giovanni expresses in each poem that love makes significant marks in us. Whether in
the beginning of a romance or in the after math of it all. Love takes hold and
changes the mind to behave in a totally different manner. I Wrote a Good Omelet
depicts how strong love can overcome a person and make them forget how to do
the simplest of things. While Love in Place gave the reader the image of a profound
love that can be traced back through the ways of their altered behavior. Each poem
represents loves hold upon an individual, love is a strong influence that alters our
usual perceptions. It s a unique phenomenon that brings out a side of us we never
Examples Of Dysfunctional Relationships
Dysfunctional People in Relationships
Have you ever wondered why some people stay in a dysfunctional relationship?
Dysfunctional relationships are relationships that do not perform their appropriate
function. In The Yellow Wallpaper, The narrator is a doctor who although probably
filled with good intentions, comes off seeming domineering. The narrator and her
husband move into a manor for the summer to help her with her temporary nervous
depression a slight hysterical tendency. Female patients were not to listened to by
male patients, but because back then women were not in positions of power. The two
main reasons why their relationship is dysfunctional is the way John treats the
narrator and the fact that she has postpartum depression so she is not herself.
The medical world has changed a lot since back then. For instance, there were no
female doctors at that time. In the 1800 s, much was unknown in the terms of
health. The mortality rate was high and life expectancy was low. Parents, rich or
poor, had no way of combating the deadly diseases and infections that often took
their children s lives. Deadly outbreaks of cholera ( an infection in the small
intestine) to the flu were, understandably, a leading cause of death in children at the
time. After all, children s immune systems are not fully developed and are therefore
weaker in the terms of fighting off these fatal diseases. Medicine has advanced
dramatically from the 1800 s to the present.Today, although not all children are
healthy if any, foods available to them, the overall diet of children has improved.
Also, with what is known
about diseases and transmission, many deadly diseases are under control. Luckily,
today it is much more common for people also have regular checkups with the doctor,
from the time they are in the womb through adulthood.
One reason why John and the narrator s relationship is dysfunctional is that John
treats the narrator like a child. The relationship between the narrator and John is not
overly loving, but unlike many people, I do not believe that John was intentionally
trying to hurt her. John cares about his wife, he just refuses to admit that his own
prescribed treatment may, in fact, be the wrong treatment. John
Why Fraternities Should be Banned Essay
Recently, the idea of partaking in a fraternity has become more prevalent. Young
adults are captivated with wanting to live the Greek life. The clothes and parties
seem to drawn in teens like a magnet. However what these teens do not realize is the
terrible things associated with fraternities. Many fraternities have a reputation for
turning college students into drunks, treating women vulgarly, enacting violent
hazing against other fraternity members and disrupting the true reason why students
go to college. For these reasons fraternities should be banned altogether on college
campuses. First of all, fraternities have proven to be a serious reason for underage
drinking and binge drinking. These young adults have far less supervision and... Show

Men taking advantage of women is considered a social norm. Also, When
fraternity members admitted to doing things that by law are considered rape they
did not believe that they were rapist. They insist that if a girl is intoxicated then
they are still able to consent to sex. Granted not all Greeks are this way. Many
fraternity members treat women respectfully and contribute greatly to bettering the
college experience. The problem is too many offenders do exist and they have
ruined the once credible reputation of fraternities everywhere. Furthermore,
fraternities are infamous for their requirement to pledge in order to join the
brotherhood. Although the specific acts inflicted on pledges is known only by
members of fraternity, it is commonly known that hazing is part of the initiation.
The pledges have to complete a series of humiliating and sometime dangerous
rituals in order to join. They could be forced to consume excessive amount of
alcohols and drugs, or be physically beaten or be publicly humiliated. Little known
fact, white fraternities generally use alcohol for hazing while black fraternities result
to physical violence. In a survey conducted by Dr. Susan Lipkins 31% of Fraternity
and sorority members agree that a significant element in an initiation rite is
humiliation. Also, many of the Greek Leaders agree that
Normative Ulnar Nerve Conduction Analysis Essay
Normative ulnar nerve conduction study; comparison of two measurements methods
Introduction
Ulnar neuropathy is one of the most common entrapment neuropathis. It is mainly
presented with weakness of ulnar innervated muscles and parasthesis of the 4th and
5th digits(1). The п¬Ѓrst dorsal interosseous (FDI) and the abductor digiti minimi
(ADM) are the two muscles which frequently impaired .The neuropathy has a
heteregenoues clinical presentation based on different involvement of fascicles
within the ulnar nerve(2,3).
Diagnosis of the neuropathy is based on clinical and electrodiagnostic findings.
Electrodiagnosis is typically performed to localize the nerve damage at the elbow and
to determine the severity of nerve involvement. Evidences demonstrated ... Show

Our results were not similar to the findings of Azma et al or Ehler et al. Mean
differences between ADM and FDI at forearm and elbow were 1.38 and
2.13,respectively.Mean differences recorded at forearm and elbow for ADM and
FDI were 6.73 and 7.49,respectively.
Caliandro et al. have reported that in normal subjects FDI CV is faster than ADM
CV. Considering that the conduction velocity of each axons is associated with the
external nerve п¬Ѓbre diameter ,they suggested that , higher diameter of fastest fibers
to FDI than ADM could explain the findings. Moreover, susceptibility to damage is
higher in п¬Ѓbres to FDI than ADM(19).
Some studies did not report any significant differences for ulnar nerve MNCV
recorded from ADM and FDI across the

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Polymers
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Composite materials are the engineering materials made from two or more
constituent materials they remain separate and distinct on a macroscopic level but
forming a single component or Composites can defined as materials that consist of
two more chemically and physically different phases separated by a distinct
interface(matrix phase and dispersed phase). The different systems are combined
judiciously to achieve a component with more and more useful structural or
functional properties non attainable by any of the constituent alone. Matrix phase is
the primary phase having a continuous character. Matrix is usually more ductile and
less hard phase. It holds the dispersed phase and shares a load with it. Dispersed
(reinforcing) phase is embedded in the matrix in a discontinuous form. This
secondary phase is called the dispersed phase. Dispersed phase is usually stronger
than the matrix, therefore, it is sometimes called reinforcing phase.
Composites, the wonder materials are becoming an essential part of today s materials
due to their advantages such as low weight, corrosion resistance, ... Show more

However, polymers are also known for their low thermal conductivity, relatively high
flammability, most often accompanied by the production of corrosive or toxic gases
and smoke during combustion. Consequently, improving the thermal properties and
fire retardant behaviour of polymers is a major challenge for extending their use to
most applications. The most of the polymers have thermal conductivity less than 0.5
W/m K. Improved thermal conductivity in polymers may be achieved either by
changing their molecular orientation or by the addition of conductive fillers. It has
been found that interfacial thermal conductance between fillers and polymer matrix is
crucial to the thermal transport in composites
The Metaphysical And Victorian Concept Of Love Essay
The Metaphysical and Victorian concept of love is as diverse as it can be
particularly comparing the intense love shown in Porphyria s Lover by Robert
Browning with the playful love in nature in To His Coy Mistress by Andrew
Marvell. Love has multiple definitions and it has so far remained among the most
complex subject that require a single particular definition to define its meaning. Plato
once said At the touch of loveeveryone becomes a poet and that s why may be we
have so many diverse poetryon the subject of love with so many different definitions
of love that are available. Shakespeare wrote in his Sonnet 116 defining love, Love is
not love which alters when alteration finds, or bends with the remover to remove ,
talking about the passion and loyalty, a belief unassailable, That look on tempests and
is never shaken . Such intensity that Shakespeare shows and the partial playful nature
that Plato hints has the possibilities for influencing a writer to produce unique
individual thoughts, with different approach and equally persuading in nature.
The term metaphysical poets was coined by the critic Samuel Johnson to describe a
loose group of 17th century English poets whose work was characterized by the
inventive use of conceits, and by a greater emphasis on the spoken rather than lyrical
quality of their verse. These poets were not formally affiliated and few were highly
regarded until 20th century attention established their importance. Given the lack

  • 1. Veteran Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Veteran Essays" can be a challenging yet deeply rewarding endeavor. The difficulty arises from the multifaceted nature of the topic, which requires a nuanced understanding of military service, the experiences of veterans, and the broader societal context. The complexity lies not only in presenting factual information but also in capturing the emotional and psychological aspects that define the veteran experience. To begin with, one must delve into the history of military service and explore the diverse roles veterans play in society. Understanding the unique challenges they face, ranging from combat- related trauma to the process of reintegrating into civilian life, adds another layer of intricacy to the essay. The writer must navigate through a plethora of emotions – gratitude, sorrow, pride, and sometimes even controversy – that surround the topic. Moreover, the essay should not only convey the individual stories of veterans but also shed light on the broader issues they face, such as the need for mental health support, employment opportunities, and societal recognition. Striking a balance between personal narratives and statistical data requires finesse to maintain the essay's cohesion and relevance. Additionally, the sensitivity of the subject demands careful consideration of language and tone. The writer must be respectful and empathetic, avoiding potential pitfalls that could inadvertently trivialize or oversimplify the experiences of veterans. Balancing objectivity with compassion is an intricate dance that requires a thoughtful approach. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Veteran Essays" is indeed a formidable task that necessitates a deep understanding of military culture, empathy for the individuals involved, and the ability to address complex issues with both heart and intellect. • 2. Gaddaf s Political Injustice In I Mr A citizen has many responsibilities when faced with political injustice. The main responsibility is to take action. In both Of Love and Shadows and in the dictator Muammar Gaddafi. According to biography.com, Gaddafi used aggressive force to try to suppress the protests, and the violence quickly escalated. Police and foreign mercenaries were brought in to shoot at protesters, and helicopters were sent to bombard citizens from the air. As casualties mounted, Libyans grew more determined to see Gaddafi s ouster. As violence spread through the country, Gaddafi made several rambling speeches on state television, claiming the demonstrators were traitors, foreigners, al Qaeda and drug addicts. He urged his supporters to continue the fight,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After all that, the rebels got into the capital: they surprised the world, and perhaps themselves, with their lightning descent on the capital and their conquest of the Bab al Aziziya barracks that vast, forbidding high walled fortress, home, seat of power, and above all, crass, iconic, absurdist symbol of Gaddafi and all his works. It was only a matter of time before National Transitional Council forces took control of the rest of the country, and even Sirte finally provided no refuge. This quote shows The rebels taking the final steps to get rid of their government taking action against their government because they saw the injustice in what gaddafi was doing. Furthermore in Of Love and Shadows by Isabelle Allende the two main characters Irene and Francisco are going to a mine to see if they can find the body of Evangelina Flores: Francisco attacked the entrance with his pick. He had little skill when it came to physical labor ; he scarcely knew how to handle the pick, and soon realized that the job would take longer than they had planned (Allende, 188). This quote shows Francisco opening the mine at any cost to find the body of Evangelina Ranquilo because they saw the injustice of the government taking her in the middle of
  • 3. Antinomianism In John Gorton s Poly these are two, and never more, nor yet lesse, yea ever the same, they are Olive trees, else no witnesses and also Candlesticks... (Burnham 441). Even though, that seems like a jumble of writing, Burnham reveals that if analyzed that it is Gorton asking his Massachusetts neighbors to task for practicing a legalistic Puritanism that mistakes visible works (or sanctification) for the invisible justification of grace (Burnham 441). This shows his opinion on the religion in the area, but as the reader already knows from the article, Gorton is seen as antinomianism by the puritans in the area. His writing always has religious undertones, which exhibit his own opinions and those of his followers, but he connects his theological views with his antimonopoly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obviously, this is something that can be refuted, as all history can. If one looks at different sources and examines different areas or even examines it in a different light, a different conclusion can be made, but through all of the information given in her article, the reader can be convinced to agree with her. Before this article, Samuel Gorton was is often an unknown historical figure, but through her character development, all sides of his personality, his work and the events and his dissent, he turns into a understandable man who lived in the time period, along with what a Leveller is and what they support. She establishes Gorton as a Leveller by comparing and contrasting the beliefs of the group to Gorton s personal beliefs exhibited through his writing, actions, religion and the writing of other about him. However, to make this argument more solid, she could have introduced more of a background on Levellers, because even with her definition and description they appear as sort of an ambiguous group, due to her focus almost completely on the ideas of theirs that coincide with Gorton s. Overall, as Burnham securely establishes in her article, Samuel Gorton is a Leveller, in puritan New England that caused many problems due to his differing theological and political views which he expressed
  • 4. Snow White Comparison The Creepiest of Them All Once upon a time in the far away land of Dubuque, there was a girl in a writing class. This girl grew up loving everything about fairy tales and princesses, until one day all of her dreams were crushed. Many children grew up hearing or watching fairy tales, but those fairy tales had been censored with fairygodmothers and furry creatures. The originals and revisions were far more gruesome. One fairy talein particular describes the life of a little girl called Snow White. In both versions of Snow White, she is beautiful, the Queen is beautiful, and the prince is freaky. The differences between Little Snow White and Snow, Glass, Apples lie in their moral backgrounds, there is a characteristic reversal between Snow White and the Queen, murder, and exploitation of a child. The original, Little Snow White, began with Snow White s mother, the Queen, making a wish to one day have a daughter, that was a white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as ebony wood (Grimm.) Her wish came true when her daughter Snow White was born, but the Queen soon realized motherhood was not for her. She was so jealous of her daughter s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Prince. In almost every fairy tale there is a Prince who comes to save the day, win the girl, and live happily ever after. The original Snow White shows a bit of this when a young Prince stops at the dwarfs house for the night and becomes taken by Snow White s beauty... As she lies dead in a coffin. At first look, the gesture seems romantic. He is so overcome with her beauty that he wants to buy her from the dwarfs. This part of the Snow White s story has remained similar in many versions, but many readers miss the underlying message. The Prince is a necrophiliac and since Snow White is still a child, a pedophile. His fetishes have been romanticized in an attempt to keep the moral composite of the fairy tale

Definition: The Classical style can be defined as the artistic style of the ancient Greeks. The style was widely used within the fine arts and put great emphasis on symmetry and harmony. Context The Classical style was an important feature of the Humanities of the ancient Greeks. There are two main features I want to illustrate about the Classical style: Sculpture and architecture. Relationship: The main contributions of Classical style are sculptures and architecture. The canon that made active use of that principle of proportion known as symmetry corresponds to both the architecture and the sculptures. My overall perspective and assessment of Classical style are that Classical style had strong influences on the development of humanities of ancient Greece. • 7. Examples Of Voyeurism In Rear Window AWe re a race of Peeping Toms. People ought to get out of their homes and look at themselves. What is the film s message about the ethics of voyeurism? Voyeurism is originally defined as the practice of gaining sexual pleasure from watching others when they are naked or engaged in sexual activity . However, the term is also used to describe a general spying on, or having interest in, other people s lives. This kind of voyeurism is the central theme for Alfred Hitchcock s mystery thriller, Rear Window (1954). The film follows the boredom induced curiosity of photographer L.B. Jeff Jefferies. After the journey ends, we are left to contemplate the morality surrounding voyeurism, and Hitchcock s own proposal about the nature of the practice. Voyeurism in its generic form, has long been considered unethical due to its invasive nature. Most people would agree that spying on others is an invasion of privacy, and would look down on those peering into other s lives. This viewpoint is expressed in the opening scene of the film by Jefferies insurance worker, Stella. She makes her entrance stating that The New York state sentence for a peeping tom is six months in the workhouse... . She goes on to say that his behaviour has her smelling trouble right here in [his] apartment and mimics his hypothetical court appearance. Lisa Freemont, Jefferies girlfriend, also comments on the issue, first when Jefferies tells her of his suspicions of Lars Thorwald; labelling his wild opinions as diseased while defensively giving alternate reasons for all of Jefferies questions about Thorwald. Including these women, no character in the film, initially, encourages Jefferies voyeurism. Instead they explicitly downplay and dismiss it. Both Stella and
  • 8. Politics In The Quiet Revolution The Quiet Revolution is characterized as the events that took place in Quebec following the death of Quebec s conservative Premier Maurice Duplessis in 1959 and the election of Jean Lesage and his Liberals the following year. The era marked a period of unprecedented political and social change for the province and also the development of the Quebecois identity. Under Lesage, the Laissez Faire ideology, dominant from 1945 to 1960, gave way to energetic activism. Government action became the response to internal conflicts and provincial control was extended over many industries that were previously privately owned. • 9. Gullivers Travels Essay Gulliver amp;#8217;s Travels, by Jonathan Swift, is regarded as one of the greatest satires in modern history. The purpose of the book, although some of his contemporaries didn amp;#8217;t realize it, is to ridicule his government, his rulers, and human nature as a whole. His generalization of the human condition doesn amp;#8217;t manifest itself completely until Part IV of the book, where the main character, Lemuel Gulliver, finds himself on an island inhabited by two main species amp;#8211; the Houyhnhnms, horse like animals, and the Yahoos, human like animals. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This seems too inhuman, and it appears that it would be impossible to be that intelligent and noble, yet still disregard the importance of death. Overall, however, Gulliver amp;#8217;s view of the Houyhnhnm is a perfectionistic vision of how human nature, for the most part, should be amp;#8211; ruled by reason. The amp;#8220;negative ; extreme of human nature that Gulliver encounters is the Yahoos. The Yahoos are naked, dirty creatures that physically resemble humans: amp;#8220;My horror and astonishment are not to be described, when I observed, in this abominable animal, a perfect human figure amp;#8230; ; (Swift 186). Immediately, Gulliver does not want to be considered one of the Yahoos. He never takes off his clothes to reveal his likeness to the Yahoo body. The Houyhnhnms still regard Gulliver, however, as either a amp;#8220;noble Yahoo ; or something in between a Yahoo and a Houyhnhnm it seems they are unable to decide. At one point, one of the Houyhnhnms describes Gulliver amp;#8217;s body to be extremely inefficient: amp;#8220;That I could not walk with any security, for if either of my hinder feet slipped, I must inevitably fall. He then began to find fault with other parts of my body, the flatness of my face, the prominence of my nose, my eyes placed directly in front, so

The Nightmare Before Christmas Research Paper Did you know that it took Tim Burton and 15 stop motion animators 10 years to The Nightmare Before Christmas argument come up with the whole plot and then 3 years to film The Nightmare Before Christmas? There is a huge controversy surrounding this movie. Some people believe that this great movie was more of a Christmas movie. I believe that The Nightmare Before Christmas is more of a Halloween Movie than a Christmas movie. My first reason for my thoughts on this movie being a Halloween movie is that the main setting of The Nightmare Before Christmas is Halloweentown. In my opinion I would say that only about 1/5 of the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas is in a different setting. Jack Skelington, the main character, lives in Halloweentown. • 12. The s Work Displayed How Women Friedan s work displayed how women were regressing back into the role of homemaker, which was their most valued role under the influence of the mystique. The McCarthyite period caused much unrest in America because of the creation of the ideology of gender roles. Freidan argues: The public image, in the magazines and television commercials, is designed to sell washing machines, cake mixes...but the power of that image...comes from this: American women no longer know who they are. They are sorely in need of a new image to help them find their identity (Friedan, 1992, c1963: 63 64). This is a quandary Esther faces which is empathised through Esther s boyfriend s mother Mrs Willard, who believes what a man is is an arrow into the future ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This metaphor of the fig tree presents how Esther is given many opportunities in her life but it seems that society will not let her fulfil them all. Plath here relates Esther s anxieties over her future to more general problems with gender roles. Janet Badia contends: Esther s frustration is not unreasonable given the societal constrictions regarding women s roles in mid century America...the problem lies in her desire to have what society tells her is impossible... Esther is told again and again that her choices, while hers to make, will have repercussions she cannot control (Badia, 2008: 133). She does not like how men get the choice to pick a family and a career. Especially when Buddy views her as Crazy and neurotic. [She] could never settle down in either the country or the city. (89) Buddy makes us assume that the only sane choice for women is to become a wife, even though Esther questions this value system her fear of inadequacy makes her see the branches in a negative light. She finds these stereotypical genders roles very unattractive and does not believe men should be able to dictate a women s life. Thus, she is resisting against these gender roles that are placed on her by the society especially as Plath was writing at the time of second wave feminism, which was trying to reassert these roles but by resisting she is showing how
  • 13. Victorian Era Games Have you ever wondered what games were played in the Victorian Era. There are many different types of games that you can play, but I m just going to give a few examples of what games they played back then. First game that we are going to talk about is Lawn Tennis. Lawn Tennis was first invented in 1874. Tennis was one of the most enjoyed sports in the Victorian Era, although tennis can be traced to fourteenth century France. The gamewas played in nineteenth century United States, but it was invented in England. Major T.H . Gem and Mr. Perera are created with creating the game. The first tennis tournament was played at Nahant, Massachusetts, in 1876. William Appleton, James Dwight, and Fred R. Sears organized the event. Dwight and Sears battled their way through the rest of the competition and they met in the finals. Dwight beat Sears three to zero sets. Another popular game that was played in the Victorian Era is Twenty Questions. Twenty Questions is a classic that has been played during the 19th century. This dissertation was written to examine whether the financial performance of the English Premier League and the sampled clubs improved after UEFA introduced their Financial Fair Play regulations. This led to the comparison of the results for the league in general and individual clubs over a ten year period (2004 2015). This ten year period was broken down into two parts: FFP1 which represented years prior to the Financial Fair Play introduction (2004 2009) and FFP2 representing post Financial Fair Play years (2010 2015). The previous chapter discussed each hypothesis and provided the results achieved. Collectively, two out of the six clubs had experienced an increase in profitability, whether it was a reduction in losses when comparing both periods or an increase in profits. This meant that the clubs relevant turnovers exceeded their expenses. For example, only Chelsea and Tottenham both recorded improvements in their profitability with Chelsea having the highest loss reduction percentage of 70%.; whereas the other four clubs did not improve their profitability over this period. Although Arsenal maintained profits throughout the FFP2 period averaging ВЈ22.1 million a year, it still managed to gain a decrease in profits. These results may seem befuddling as Arsenal were the only club not to make any losses during the 10 year period. Overall, the results show that although the Premier league increased its profitability, the collective sampled club s results differed. The losses in the FFP1 period collectively totalled ВЈ371 million; whereas the losses in the FFP2 period collectively totalled ВЈ461 million. Can Kirin do even better, i.e., achieve a higher market share, with an even more optimal product design? Explain. A. The maximum utility choice rule makes more sense to use in the analysis as it models the real world market better than the share of preference choice rule, which is a tempting option since it corresponds to frequently bought product items. The latter tends to equally distribute the preference of brands, which is not true in the real world scenario. We would have opted for the Alpha rule as it is a combination of share of preference and maximum utility, but due to unavailability of the market shares data, we were unable to do so. We think Alpha choice model would have been perfect. By using the maximum utility model Kirin is positioned to achieve 4% of the market share, which is 1% larger than Sapporo. Yet, when fashion is added to the question, what are the first thoughts? Yet, their daily clothinghas been adapted to women wearing skirts and men wearing suits. Without a doubt, they are looking like the rest of the world of which the West has influenced; they are no longer one of a kind in terms of modern fashion. In order for them to retrieve their uniqueness in the fashion world, the Japanese branded themselves with their many different styles of fashion, but could not have done so without the strong influence of the media. This quote from the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, is about none other than the Battle of the Bulge. The Battle of the Bulge was the largest battle fought on the Western Front in Europe during World War II, and it sealed the fate of the Axis Powers. The battle was a final attempt made by the Germans to split the the American and British armies in France and the Low Countries. The Germans also wanted to retake the port of Antwerp to prevent the Allies from using the port facilities. The Battle of the Bulge lasted a month, beginning on December 16, 1944, and ending on January 16, 1945. With most of its military power gone, Germany had just about nothing left to defend itself, and its final defeat loomed just a couple months away. The Battle of the Bulge was a very important event in World War II, because it was viewed as Hitler s last major offensive in the war. Americans suffered around 75,000 casualties and the British lost about 1,400 soldiers. But, the damage done to the Axis powers was even worse. 120,000 German soldiers were killed in the battle, and another 100,000 were taken prisoner. The German army was pretty much wiped out and it was nearly impossible for them to launch another attack on the Allies, which brought about the end of World War

So, how are these challenges met? In the United States, some citizens are conservative Republics, some are liberal Democrats, and others fall in between or outside the two. There are many other ways to reduce the impacts but I will discuss vegetarian or vegan diet. A vegetarian diet is when a diet does not have meat, poultry, or fish, while a vegan diet further excludes dairy products. By excluding meat, poultry or dairy products from our diets, we can protect our earth planet, as producing meat causes more greenhouse gases emissions than any other environmental impact. To supply more meat for consuming, companies are creating more space for farm factories by destroying our forests. Factories mistreat animals to gain more profits by giving them drugs to grow bigger, faster. To raise animals, they moreover need an immense amount of land, food, energy and water, that is using our precious resources. The more meat we eat, the more meat is produced, and the more the resources are used in raising animals. We must stop now and make the correct choices. Vegetarian or vegan diets are healthy as they contain the nutritious including the protein that our bodies need. If everyone becomes a vegetarian or vegan fewer supply will be used, animals won t be mistreated by companies and we will lead nutritious, healthy lives while living in a healthy environment. Crop production remained fairly low while fertility and population were on the rise, meaning that they were living in chronic food insecurity . The Population Bomb Africa s population was increasing too rapidly for their available supplies and there was not much being done to control it. Their valuable lumber is being rapidly exported and the lack of arable land is apparent. The big game in Africa drew the attention and money of tourists, but the growing African population took over land that was previously inhabited by animals. • 39. James Lovelock Research Paper James Lovelock is a scientist, environmentalist, and futurist from Dorset, England who is greatly known for proposing his Gaia Hypothesis in the 1960s. He had his own belief that the Earth was its own self regulating, independent system. This complex system is made up of biotic and abiotic factors that interact, and evolve together to form a single organism. Although many environmentalists do agree with Lovelock s ideas, there are also scientists who do not accept his ideas. Many scientists disagree with him due to their belief in the contradiction of natural selection. Lovelock first formulated this hypothesis while working with NASAto detect whether there is life on Mars in September 1965. The difference in the chemical equilibrium on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Earth is thought to be a self regulating system, and considered a living organism that optimizes conditions of life for itself. This system as a whole has homeostatic mechanisms that are responsible for maintaining a physical and chemical environment that is fit for life on the planet. Processes such as the interaction of living forms such as microorganisms with inorganic elements are essential for sustaining conditions of life. These processes establish a global control system that is in charge of many different variables such as: controlling the global temperature, atmospheric content, and the ocean salinity. There were many scientists that did not agree with Lovelock s ideas. Many of these scientists were evolutionary scientists who supported Darwin s trait of natural selection. Natural selection is how life is maintained through the competition between individuals for reproductive success. Evolutionary biologists do not believe that Earth was produced by natural selection, and therefore, do not think it is a living thing. d Many people continue to support Lovelock s Gaia theory today. A very wide variety of ecosystems and individual organisms working together to create one living thing is beyond fascinating. However, Lovelock s research is still very controversial. The question still remains whether life manipulates the planet and its processes for itself,

It is something that is felt inside, it shakes us to our core and is sometimes the only explanation for our unusual behavior. This is what Nikki Giovanni felt when writing both poems Love in Place and I Wrote a Good Omelet. In I Wrote a Good Omelet Giovanni describes all the confusion she experiences after loving you. She can no longer do all the normal activities she is used to doing ever since being in love. As for in Love in Place Giovanni speaks of how she believes she must have fell in love before due to the changes in her behavior she had. Giovanni expresses in each poem that love makes significant marks in us. Whether in the beginning of a romance or in the after math of it all. Love takes hold and changes the mind to behave in a totally different manner. I Wrote a Good Omelet depicts how strong love can overcome a person and make them forget how to do the simplest of things. While Love in Place gave the reader the image of a profound love that can be traced back through the ways of their altered behavior. Each poem represents loves hold upon an individual, love is a strong influence that alters our usual perceptions. It s a unique phenomenon that brings out a side of us we never
  • 42. Examples Of Dysfunctional Relationships Dysfunctional People in Relationships Have you ever wondered why some people stay in a dysfunctional relationship? Dysfunctional relationships are relationships that do not perform their appropriate function. In The Yellow Wallpaper, The narrator is a doctor who although probably filled with good intentions, comes off seeming domineering. The narrator and her husband move into a manor for the summer to help her with her temporary nervous depression a slight hysterical tendency. Female patients were not to listened to by male patients, but because back then women were not in positions of power. The two main reasons why their relationship is dysfunctional is the way John treats the narrator and the fact that she has postpartum depression so she is not herself. The medical world has changed a lot since back then. For instance, there were no female doctors at that time. In the 1800 s, much was unknown in the terms of health. The mortality rate was high and life expectancy was low. Parents, rich or poor, had no way of combating the deadly diseases and infections that often took their children s lives. Deadly outbreaks of cholera ( an infection in the small intestine) to the flu were, understandably, a leading cause of death in children at the time. After all, children s immune systems are not fully developed and are therefore weaker in the terms of fighting off these fatal diseases. Medicine has advanced dramatically from the 1800 s to the present.Today, although not all children are healthy if any, foods available to them, the overall diet of children has improved. Also, with what is known about diseases and transmission, many deadly diseases are under control. Luckily, today it is much more common for people also have regular checkups with the doctor, from the time they are in the womb through adulthood. One reason why John and the narrator s relationship is dysfunctional is that John treats the narrator like a child. The relationship between the narrator and John is not overly loving, but unlike many people, I do not believe that John was intentionally trying to hurt her. John cares about his wife, he just refuses to admit that his own prescribed treatment may, in fact, be the wrong treatment. John
  • 43. Why Fraternities Should be Banned Essay Recently, the idea of partaking in a fraternity has become more prevalent. Young adults are captivated with wanting to live the Greek life. The clothes and parties seem to drawn in teens like a magnet. However what these teens do not realize is the terrible things associated with fraternities. Many fraternities have a reputation for turning college students into drunks, treating women vulgarly, enacting violent hazing against other fraternity members and disrupting the true reason why students go to college. For these reasons fraternities should be banned altogether on college campuses. First of all, fraternities have proven to be a serious reason for underage drinking and binge drinking. These young adults have far less supervision and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men taking advantage of women is considered a social norm. Also, When fraternity members admitted to doing things that by law are considered rape they did not believe that they were rapist. They insist that if a girl is intoxicated then they are still able to consent to sex. Granted not all Greeks are this way. Many fraternity members treat women respectfully and contribute greatly to bettering the college experience. The problem is too many offenders do exist and they have ruined the once credible reputation of fraternities everywhere. Furthermore, fraternities are infamous for their requirement to pledge in order to join the brotherhood. Although the specific acts inflicted on pledges is known only by members of fraternity, it is commonly known that hazing is part of the initiation. The pledges have to complete a series of humiliating and sometime dangerous rituals in order to join. They could be forced to consume excessive amount of alcohols and drugs, or be physically beaten or be publicly humiliated. Little known fact, white fraternities generally use alcohol for hazing while black fraternities result to physical violence. In a survey conducted by Dr. Susan Lipkins 31% of Fraternity and sorority members agree that a significant element in an initiation rite is humiliation. Also, many of the Greek Leaders agree that

  • 46. Advantage And Disadvantage Of Polymers CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Composite materials are the engineering materials made from two or more constituent materials they remain separate and distinct on a macroscopic level but forming a single component or Composites can defined as materials that consist of two more chemically and physically different phases separated by a distinct interface(matrix phase and dispersed phase). The different systems are combined judiciously to achieve a component with more and more useful structural or functional properties non attainable by any of the constituent alone. Matrix phase is the primary phase having a continuous character. Matrix is usually more ductile and less hard phase. It holds the dispersed phase and shares a load with it. Dispersed (reinforcing) phase is embedded in the matrix in a discontinuous form. This secondary phase is called the dispersed phase. Dispersed phase is usually stronger than the matrix, therefore, it is sometimes called reinforcing phase. Composites, the wonder materials are becoming an essential part of today s materials due to their advantages such as low weight, corrosion resistance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, polymers are also known for their low thermal conductivity, relatively high flammability, most often accompanied by the production of corrosive or toxic gases and smoke during combustion. Consequently, improving the thermal properties and fire retardant behaviour of polymers is a major challenge for extending their use to most applications. The most of the polymers have thermal conductivity less than 0.5 W/m K. Improved thermal conductivity in polymers may be achieved either by changing their molecular orientation or by the addition of conductive fillers. It has been found that interfacial thermal conductance between fillers and polymer matrix is crucial to the thermal transport in composites
  • 47. The Metaphysical And Victorian Concept Of Love Essay The Metaphysical and Victorian concept of love is as diverse as it can be particularly comparing the intense love shown in Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning with the playful love in nature in To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell. Love has multiple definitions and it has so far remained among the most complex subject that require a single particular definition to define its meaning. Plato once said At the touch of loveeveryone becomes a poet and that s why may be we have so many diverse poetryon the subject of love with so many different definitions of love that are available. Shakespeare wrote in his Sonnet 116 defining love, Love is not love which alters when alteration finds, or bends with the remover to remove , talking about the passion and loyalty, a belief unassailable, That look on tempests and is never shaken . Such intensity that Shakespeare shows and the partial playful nature that Plato hints has the possibilities for influencing a writer to produce unique individual thoughts, with different approach and equally persuading in nature. The term metaphysical poets was coined by the critic Samuel Johnson to describe a loose group of 17th century English poets whose work was characterized by the inventive use of conceits, and by a greater emphasis on the spoken rather than lyrical quality of their verse. These poets were not formally affiliated and few were highly regarded until 20th century attention established their importance. Given the lack
