Searching for outcomes in rural Tanzania: Harvesting directly from those infl...John Mauremootoo
The benefits and challenges of using Outcome Harvesting to evaluate a short-term intervention are explored using the example of an 18 month social change project supported by the UK Department for International Development in Tanzania. The project was that was highly ambitious: it sought to influence changes in gender attitudes and behaviour of the general public in Tanzania. Challenges included the lack of outcome indications in project document and the lack of knowledge of outcomes among project personnel. Outcome Harvesting was adapted to allow the harvesting of outcomes using focus groups of those the project sought to influence directly. The concept of ‘proto-outcome’ was used for suggestions of attitude changes that may lead ultimately to behaviour changes. Substantiation of outcomes involved not only third parties but direct observation. The resulting descriptions of outcomes and the evaluation findings proved valuable for learning in the organisation, Search for Common Ground.

Meat preservation techniques by Geeta ChauhanGeeta12344
- Meat preservation techniques aim to create unfavorable conditions for microbial growth through various methods like refrigeration, freezing, salting, curing, smoking, drying, heat treatment and fermentation.
- The underlying principle is that microbes require certain conditions for survival and preservation techniques alter factors like moisture, temperature, pH and oxygen levels to stop microbial growth.
- Hurdle technology uses a combination of preservation methods (hurdles) that act synergistically to control pathogens. It ensures elimination of all pathogens or reducing them to harmless levels in food. The physiological stress response of microbes forms the basis of hurdle technology's effectiveness.

The study aimed to compare the effects of applying human breast milk, 4% chlorhexidine, or dry cord care on bacterial colonization and clinical outcomes in umbilical cords of preterm newborns. 105 preterm newborns were randomly assigned to one of the three treatment groups. Cord swabs on days 3 and 5 found 4% chlorhexidine most effectively reduced pathogenic bacteria, while breast milk provided some reduction compared to dry care. The study concluded chlorhexidine is highly effective but breast milk may be a suitable alternative in low-resource settings. However, limitations included a small sample size and single-hospital setting, limiting generalizability.
Background: Iodine deficiency disorder is common public health problem in developed and developing countries. In Worldwide, nearly 70% of the households only using adequate iodized salt in their regular food. To estimate the household salt utilization, prevalence of goiter, status of iodine deficiency disorder, and to find the iodine level at household level in the study areas.
Materials and Methods: We have done a community-based observational study on IDD in the coastal areas of Villupuram District, Tamil Nadu with examined households salt in 1233 households in selected eight villages. All data were analyzed using Chi-Square test. p–value<0.05 was considered as statistically significant.
Results: Totally 1233 households were recruited and incorporated in this study. Among 1233 households, male 385 (31.2%) and female 848 (68.8%). The male and female age-group was showed statistically highly significant association with p<0.01. Out of 1233 individuals, 141 (11.4%) were found as total goiter. The prevalence of goiter was 105 (12.4%) in female than male was 36 (9.4%) and no statistical association between gender among goiter prevalence (p>0.05).
Conclusion: From our present study findings, we have concluded that majority of the study population was used iodized salt in their regular food. But, very less adequately iodized salts were available nearby study areas. Nevertheless, majority of the households didn’t know about the benefits about the usage of iodized salt. Health education is needed in to the shopkeepers and local vendors. This will be conducted by non-Governmental organization, Government organization and other nearby medical colleges.

Factors Affecting Good Agricultural Practices GAP Standard by Durian Farmers ...ijtsrd
This study investigated the Good Agricultural Practices GAP standard by durian farmers in Thailand, Tha Mai District, Chanthaburi province. The study used a survey to obtain information from the farmers on demographic, economic, and cultivation technique factors. The implementation of GAP was evaluated based on the survey results. The sample size was 354 durian farmers, and the data were collected using an interview schedule as the instrument. The results showed that overall, durian farmers used durian cultivation technique factors and practices of durian cultivation at the high level GAP components at the high level. In addition, hypothesis testing showed that the significant demographic and economic factors regarding applying GAP in practices were age, marital status, group member, and area of durian planted. Furthermore, the critical cultivation factors regarding adopting GAP in practices were the cultivation plan, planting area selection, cultivation method, shading, post planting, and pest management. Consequently, GAP standards are necessary to encourage durian farmers to develop their techniques and cultivation planning continuously to guarantee the quality of the durian products to market for a sustainable agricultural market in Thailand. Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
