said, growing up in a different denomination other than Baptist, I have had the

In history it seems that some value of materialistic items can control a person s life;
in the present, the same controlling is happening. William Hogarth backed up this
theory by painting A Rakes Progress, which illustrates the life of Tom Rakewell in the
18th century. Through Hogarth s paintings, he releases his thoughts and uses his

Hogarth details each character in his painting to show the viewers how to take this
information from his work. In the painting, Rakewell s fiancee, Sarah, is shown
holding a tissue and wedding ring clutched in her hand. Her mother holds the love
letters Tom wrote and at the same time Tom holds out a handful of coins in a plead
to get rid of them. The second painting that makes up A Rake s Progress shows
Tom moves from his family home into a luxury house fenced in by a dance master,
a music teacher, a poet, a tailor, a landscape gardener, a bodyguard and a jockey all
offering their services to help Tom complete his fashionable lifestyle (Harland).
Tom is presented in his night ware and is with prostitutes. Tom s lifestyle does not
last for long after the third scene he is in trouble by the bailiffs. The fiancee pays
Tom s bail, but by the next scene, he is marrying a wealthy old woman. In the
painting, the woman s eyes glances towards the ring and Tom looks to his maid. In
the background, Sarah and her mother struggle by being restrained by other guests

I chose to major in music education because of my love of music and a desire to
pursue a comprehensive and versatile music degree. As a student of Gordon Stout
and Conrad Alexander, I have excelled musically as well as academically. I maintain
a 3.9 cumulative GPA, and have made Dean s List every semester while working two
part time jobs and volunteering for various organizations. Although I enjoyed student

Acute Human Immunodeficiency Virus ( Hiv ) Infection
Acute Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection is the small period of time
after a person has been exposed to HIV and before they have seroconverted.
Seroconversion is the process in which the body starts to create antibodies to fight
the HIV virus (Pietrangelo, 2013). During this period of time, which is usually a few
days, the virus replicates rapidly. The rapid replication results in extremely high
amounts of HIVin the blood because the body has not had time to respond to the
infection. As the viral load increases more CD4 white cells are destroyed. CD4 cells
are a responsible in protecting the body from infection. When these cells are
destroyed they no longer are able to adequately activate the body s immune system.

Signs/symptoms of Acute HIV Infection Including H P
Not all patients with HIV will have signs or symptoms during the acute infection
phase. If a patient is having symptoms they can often times think that they have the
flu. Acute HIV infection symptoms can show up 2 4 weeks after exposure and last
from a few days to several weeks (Cherney, 2014). If they are exhibiting symptoms
they may present as having a fever, swollen lymph nodes, skin rashes, myalgia,
diarrhea, oral ulcers or thrush, and fatigue. Lab results may also show leukopenia,
thrombocytopenia, or an elevation in transaminase (DHHS, 2015). Differential
diagnoses include the flu or Epstein Barr Virus since these also present with similar
symptoms.
A thorough health history must be taken with patients before an exam in order to
identify risk behavior. Important things to ask about are sexual history, partners and
possible exposures, any drug use (especially intravenously), and any current STI s
(HRSA, 2014). Upon physical exam things to look for or may see with an acute HIV
infection would be ecchymosis, purpura, petechiae, Kaposi sarcoma,
lymphadenopathy, oral candidiasis, or hepatosplenomegaly (Aberg et al., 2014).
