• OD is a systematic, integrated and planned approach to improve
the effectiveness of the enterprise. It is designed to solve
problems that adversely affect the operational efficiency at all

• Organization development (OD) is the study of successful
organizational change and performance.
• OD is known both as a field of applied science focused on
understanding and managing organizational change and as a field
of scientific study and inquiry.

OD AND BUSINESS
1. Sensitivity Training: It is also known as T-Groups or laboratory
training or encounter groups is a method by which small face-to-face
interactions and experiences are used to give people insight into
themselves.
2. Skill Training: It refers to increasing the job knowledge skills, and
abilities that are necessary to do a job effectively.
3. Job Redesign: It alters jobs to improve the fit between skills and the
demands of the job.
4. Role Negotiations: It is a simple technique whereby individuals meet and clarify
their psychological contract. It results in improved understanding among the
members.
5. Career Planning: It refers to matching an individuals career aspirations with the
opportunities available in the organisation.
6. Quality of work life: It is an umbrella concept that encompasses literally dozens of
specific interventions that have a common goal of humanizing the workplace.
7. Team Building: The main objective of team building is to get members of a work
