India has the potential to become one of the top 3 countries globally for domestic and international air passenger traffic. Currently ranked 10th, the government aims to significantly promote aviation growth through the National Civil Aviation Policy 2016, which envisions 30 crore domestic passengers by 2022, 50 crore by 2027, and 20 crore international passengers by 2027. The policy's mission is to provide safe, affordable, and sustainable air travel and cargo transportation across India and the world by establishing an integrated ecosystem, ensuring aviation safety and security, enhancing regional connectivity, and promoting ease of business.
