Opening Paragraph For Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Opening Paragraph For Essay" presents a unique challenge. At
its core, the task seems paradoxical – how does one effectively begin an essay about
beginning an essay? The difficulty lies in navigating the fine line between capturing the reader's
attention and avoiding clichГ©s or overly formulaic approaches. It requires a delicate balance of
creativity, precision, and originality. Moreover, delving into the intricacies of introductory
paragraphs demands a deep understanding of the purpose of an opening statement, its role in
setting the tone and direction of the essay, and its potential impact on the reader's engagement.
The challenge is not merely in writing any introductory paragraph but in crafting one that is
compelling, thought-provoking, and intellectually stimulating. It necessitates introspection,
critical analysis, and the ability to think outside conventional boundaries. However, despite the
hurdles, mastering the art of composing captivating opening paragraphs is a skill worth honing,
as it lays the foundation for the entire essay, shaping the reader's perception and guiding their
journey through the discourse.

Children Of The Victorian Era
Abandon Children In the Victorian era many lower class women abandoned their
children because they didn t have a stable financial income. Majority of the kids
that were relinquished, because of absence of income in a family. The few shelters
existing in the Victorian culture were awful to the point that numerous kids
decided to live on their own in the city. Orphans living on their own in the city
would most likely make them prone to becoming criminals. There was an
abundance of things that could happen to the children of the village. Generally,
adoption was unlikely. This is because there was no proper way to go about
adopting a child in Victorian times. The living and working conditions of the poor
were so unsanitary and crowded that diseases such as typhus and tuberculosis often
spread unchecked, sending many of their victims to the grave Czarnik, Living
Conditions . However, children were often considered orphans if they had one
surviving parent, had been abandoned by their family, or were forced out into the
world due to overcrowding at home. Throughout the years there has always been
several cases of children being abandoned by their parent s, because many parents
either were not ready to raise a child, the child was born with some type of
deficiency, or many children became orphans because both of their parents or
caregivers may have passed away. Nowadays there is several places where you may
take a child in the case that the parents are unable to take care of
Personal Statement For Food Engineering
Canned food that lasts for days, delicacies with different taste and color, fascinated
my 10 year old mind. Walking through supermarkets always felt like a trip to
wonderland. It still does. Amazed by how people come up with ideas when it comes
to food production. All these coupled together aroused an undying quest for
knowledge in the food industry. As my interest piqued over the years, I couldn t help
but strive to be a part of this industry that is brimming with creative ideas. My
curiosity led me to research more on food production and I came to discover that
food engineering is only but a fraction of a bigger picture which is Chemical
Engineering. I wouldn t be doing justice to narrow myself to one choice. Thus I
pursued an exciting career in the world of Chemical Engineering For as long as I
can remember, I have been an inquisitive person, always eager to figure things out
and find new ways of solving issues. In my additional mathematics class, I would
solve the given question in a whole new way. Although... Show more content on

One of the amazing wonders of Chemical Engineering is how broad it is. I have
come to know the vast practical applications of Chemical Engineering as it cuts
across almost all career fields medicine, food, and even the fashion industry , this
caught my attention and created a thirst of knowledge in me to study my chosen
course. During my master s studies, I plan to pour all my energy into research on
how Chemical Engineering can affect and aid the food industry worldwide. I have
always wondered if biomass isn t being used to the fullness of its potential, maybe it
can be used in the food industry. That would be an excellent breakthrough. I will try
to innovative, studious and tenacious; to accompany the professors and university
colleagues in carrying out research and exploring for immense exciting industrial

William Isaacs Definition Of Dialogue
William Isaacs, starts with the same analysis as Phil Harkins: one of the most
fundamental struggles for any leader stems from the separation between who we
are as people and what we do as professionals. This separation is artificial. What we
do in private affects how we do in public. How we think does affect how we talk.
And vice versa. Isaacs defines dialogue less instrumental. The characteristic of a
dialogue is the open exchange of different perspectives leading to something new. In
dialogue problems get dissolved. Meaning flows in the relational field. Dialogue is
opposed to discussion. In discussion people think alone and use the conversation to
push their agenda or conviction. At its best, a skillful discussion serves the solution...

I should set the vision and clarify the team path throughout the course. I was now
forced to speak and express myself and retain the balance between seriousness and
feelings, expectations and challenges, opportunities and relationships. Leading a
virtual team is intricate compared to traditional team. It required you to read what
is hidden between the lines and the unspoken language. It forced me to change
from a regular silent voice in the team to be the spoken voice. The highest
challenge for me during this case study is to deal with vague communication . In
traditional face to face team you can read the members facial expression that could
give you a hint of their unspoken word, however in a virtual team the unspoken
language is difficult to be grasped. Furthermore, because of my tight schedule, I
found it very annoying to wait not only for hours to get a reply from the team but
sometime I waited many days to get a response for a massage or an email. This
was the most annoying thing as you don t know the other members situations and
excuses. According to Sheila Heen, Difficult conversations are difficult because
they can change the way people see us and the way we see ourselves, we want to be
perceived as agreeable, but we aren t always agreeable. And that s
Adulteration of Food in Bangladesh
1.0 Executive Summary
Every citizen of Bangladesh and the world at large has the right to purchase of safe
food at reasonable prices; however, the safety aspect is often endangered. Use of
chemicals in food is rampant around Bangladesh with the proportion of adulterated
food items in the market varying between 70 and 90 percent. Despite negative health
impacts, countrywide drives against fake and adulterated food through operation of
mobile courts and sprouting of formalin free markets, the problem persists.
The main objective of this paper is to examine the perception of the citizens
(customers and sellers) towards chemical mixed hazardous products in Bangladesh.
In order to do, hypotheses were formulated which allowed us to reach ... Show more

This has further been ramified into more clustered pieces. They are:
To exhibit the general view of the consumers about the effect of chemical mixed
products.
To illustrate the view of the seller regarding the use of chemical in their food products.
To look for the socio cultural solutions to the problems of food contamination
simultaneously from consumers and sellers point of view.
4.0 Literature Review
A major concern in Bangladesh is food additives and processing aids. Food
additives are substances added to food to preserve flavor or enhance its taste and
appearance. Some additives have been used for centuries; for example, preserving
food by pickling (with vinegar), salting, as with bacon, preserving sweets or using
sulphur dioxide as in some wines. With the advent of processed foods in the second
half of the 20th century, many more additives have been introduced, of both natural
and artificial origin. One the other hand processing aids means any substance not
consumed as a food by itself, intentionally used in the processing of raw materials,
foods or their ingredients, to fulfill a certain technological purpose during treatment
or processing, and which may result in the unintentional but technically unavoidable
presence of residues of the substance or its derivatives in the final product, provided
that these residues do not
I Am A Poet By Michael Waters And Mihaela Moscaliuc
On monday night, poets Michael Waters and Mihaela Moscaliuc read their poems
at the visiting writers series. It was the first time I have heard live poetry and it
was a different, as well as challenging, experience. As I am used to analyzing and
tearing apart poems on paper, it posed an obstacle as I had to merely sit and listen.
The sound aspect of poetrywas emphasized. I could not sit down and reread the
poem, and make connections, I had to experience the poem as a moment.
Mihaela Moscaliuc read from her collection of poetry first. She grew up in
Romania, under an oppressive totalitarian regime. In an interview with San Marcos
Mercury, she was asked You grew up in a Romania under the crushing censorship
of the Ceausescu regime. How in the world did you decide to become a poet?
Moscaliuc answered by saying, I never decided to become a poet, really. I would
say I m someone who writes poetry, someone who writes out of need, out of guilt,
out of various fears. At the writing series, she mentions that if she never left
Romania, she never would have written poetry. In America, from a distance, she
writes about how the politics and social issues define her. Perhaps, being separate
from it, allowed her to examine it. She said that the world touches each of us and
defines us and that we are a product of various histories. She read a poem about a
monk she attempted to seduce and one about the people affected by the Ukraine
nuclear reactor ordeal. As an immigrant, she spoke
Why Is Seatbelts Important
Nowadays, most people own cars and many people are riding cars on a daily basis.
Although we sometimes hear on the news about people dying by car accidents,
there are much more cases when people are not injured by car accidents thanks to
the range of safety equipment designed to keep the people on the car safe in the
event of a car crash. The range of safety equipment is supported in the background
by the modern advanced science. First of all, seatbelts are installed in every kind
of car that is being sold. Seatbelts take a very important role in cars because it
works in many ways to protect the passengers from danger and car accidents. One
of the reasons why seatbelts are important is because seatbelts reduce the speed of
a body of a passenger as it gets an experience of an abrupt decreasing of speed.
Since the velocity of the car and the passenger is independent, even when the car
crashed into a wall and the velocity suddenly decreases to zero, the body of a
passenger will want to still move forwards. The second reason is that seatbelts
prevent passengers from slamming parts of their... Show more content on

The antilock braking system was made to support the driver to control some
steering dexterity and avoid skidding while putting on the brake. Anti lock brakes
were first introduced in the mid 1980s and became a major equipment of a mobile

keep control of the car and uses wheel speed sensor to take a decision whether any

Hatshepsut Research Paper
Hatshepsut s numerous building programs, including those at Deir el Bahri, Karnak
and Speos Artemedos, serve multiple purposes and have worked to a large extent to
prove her right to the throne. Each of these buildings serves a unique purpose, each
playing a large extent in contributing to Hatshepsut s role as a pharaoh. Hatshepsuts
mortuary temple at Deir el Bahri exemplifies her life achievements, and shows her
religious, political and economic successes as pharaoh through numerous inscriptions
and archaeological features, her Temple of Karnak contributing to her religious and
political attributions, and her temple at Speos Artemidos also proves her religious
contributions, where this temple was dedicated to Pakhet. Archaeological and written

Evidence of trade is found within her mortuary Temple, where luxurious items from
the Land of Punt were discovered as tributes, indicating Hatshepsut to fulfil her
people at an economic level. These goods include Sacks of aromatic gum, gold,
ebony, ivory, leopard skins, live apes, and incense trees . This evidence found within
the temple provides the idea that one of the many purposes of Hatshepsut s Mortuary
Temple is to allow recognition of her trade expeditions, maintaining Maat and
fulfilling her role as Pharaoh at an economic level, where this worked to a highly
significant extent, as this expedition created strong economic ties with the Puntites.
Further reinforcement of Hatshepsut s significant economic policy is seen in an
inscription at the Temple at Speos Artemidos, where her restorations of damage
wrought by the Hyksos referenced her expedition to Punt, dating around the ninth
year. An inscription stating Punt has [swollen] forth for me on (all its) field... my

that Hatshepsut s expedition was purely for trade and economic purposes, rather than

How Did Helen Keller Contribute To Real Life
The real life heroic figure that was chosen for this reflection is Helen Keller. Helen
Keller was a well known author, educator and social activist in America in the early
20th century (Helen Keller Biography, 2016, para. 1). Helen Keller was also the first
deaf and blind person to graduate from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree (Helen

healthy child to Arthur H. Keller and Kate Adams. Helen Keller was the first of
the three children born to her parents and had two older step brothers from her

abilities to help many individuals who were blind in the areas of their education,

How Poetry Makes Nothing Happen
1. Introduction
W.H Auden famously wrote poetry makes nothing happen. Do you think this
accurately describes the political and social place of poetry in the twentieth century
and/or the twenty first century? Explain why you agree or disagree in the case of
your chosen poet, justifying your answer with close reference to your poet s work
and its reception and interpretation.
This essay examines the effects that poetry has on society, both socially and
politically. Poetry has been around for centuries, and it is a common misconception
that it serves no purpose. One critic in particular, W.H Auden claimed, poetry makes
nothing happen . However poetry awakens the reader s eyes and gives an insight to
the society in which we live in today, and which has been before us. As evident in
Ezra Pound s work, as he explored the use of imagism to critique modernism and
twentieth century, forcing the readers to think more about society as a whole. The
purpose of this essay is to show that poetry does make something happen and can
have instrumental effects on society, whether it is a poet critiquing society, or simply
providing another interpretation. Poetry is a code than needs to be cracked, it is a
riddle that makes the reader bring out their true creativity, which is why I disagree
with W.H Auden in saying, poetry makes nothing happen.

Fast Car by Wyclef Jean Analysis
When a Car is More Than Just a Car The first time I heard the song, Fast Car by
Wyclef Jean, I really liked it because it was catchy. After listening to it a few more
times, I realized there was a lot of meaning to it. To me, the main goal of this song
is to teach the young listeners a difficult lesson to be careful before they do
something that could potentially ruin their lives. Also, Jean is showing his listeners
there is help out there and tomorrow is not promised everybody needs take
advantage of their available resources so they do not harm themselves. Basically,
Jean wants everyone to be careful with the life that they currently have rather than
wasting time here on earth. Jean explains his story by using a type of music that...

The first half is, you don t got to be no billionaire, to get a ticket up to the moon.
We all know somebody up there, you need a helping hand, look, I m right here.
Basically, Jean means everybody goes to the moon, or heaven, one day. However,
a person does not have to be rich to take a trip up there. We all know people who
have passed away and gone to heaven; it is never easy to say goodbye to people
who leave Earth. He wants everyone to know that there is plenty of help on Earth.
Jean does not want anybody to mess up their life to the point that it isn t worth it to
fix it. This part of the song has the most symbolic meaning. Cars symbolize the
journey of life from birth to death, just as they help you travel from one place to
another. Jean uses the verses to show literal meanings of why we need to be
careful with cars; he uses the chorus to show the symbolic meaning associated with
fast cars and why they have the ability to be so dangerous. Also, he prefers not to
have any hardships to control his listeners lives either. The verse goes on to say,
...to help you see clearly now. Jean wants to be the helping hand for everybody.
Why die, when you could fix your problems and live as a happy individual? The
whole purpose of the song is to be smart and not let our cars or problems control us.
The bridge of the song emphasizes the dangers of cars. A person might be drinking
or not in the right mental state to drive, however if they pick

The Death Penalty Case Study
One of the most common misconceptions about the death penalty is that it saves
money. Many citizens in the United States believe that life in prison costs more than
the death penalty. Ernest Goss, an economics professor at Creighton University,
conducted a study found that Nebraska spent $14.6 million dollars in 2015 to
maintain capital punishment. Dr. Goss also conducted a cost study across the country.
He estimated that the death penaltycosts states an average of $23.2 million dollars a
year to maintain the death penalty compared to alternative sentences (Goss 4). The
cost of a death penalty case is more because of defense costs, pre trial costs and jury
selections, court days and court costs, prisoncosts, and appeals costs. Defense costs...

Two Supreme Court cases proved the unconstitutionality of the death penalty. The
first case was Atkins v. Virginia which took place in 2002. Daryl Atkins was
convicted of abduction, armed robbery, and capital murder. The defense used a
foreseeing psychologist, who testified that Atkins was mentally disabled. In a 6 3
Supreme Court decision ruled that the executions of mentally disabled criminals are
cruel and unusual punishments and violate the Eighth Amendment (Macvaugh 132).
The second case, Roper v. Simmons, barred the execution of juveniles. Christopher
Simmons was sentenced to death in 1993 at the age of seventeen. Appeals to state
and federal courts lasted till 2002, where each appeal was rejected. After the Supreme
Court decision in 2002 that ruled executing mentally disabled violated the Eight and
Fourteenth Amendments was cruel and unusual, the Missouri Supreme Court

worldwide opinion that rejected juveniles receiving the death penalty. Both cases

Steel frame:
Steel frame structures are made as the name suggest from steel, the material is strong
and flexible. When weight is added it bends without cracking. Another characteristic
of steel is that its plasticity or ductility, meaning that when force is added it won t
crack however it will lose shape therefore giving warning for people to evacuate the
building. A disadvantage of steel is that is loses strength when subject to fire. Studies
have shown that it can loose up to half its strength when subject to fire, therefore
making it imperative to cover the steel with boards or spray on.
Steel construction is used in
High rise building because of its strength, light weight and the speed in which it can
be constructed.
Industrial buildings and warehouse buildings because of the ability to create large
span spaces at a low cost
Temporary structure as its quick to set up and remove.
Steel fabrication: this is when steel is cut to the desire length generally on site and
then weld them together to create the final building. This is generally labor intensive
however it can reduce time.
Bolted steel construction: this is when the main bulk of the construction is pre made
at the workshop then bolted into place on site. This tends to be the preferred methods
as it saves time and money as well having the right working conditions.

Since 2000, both the refugee rights political movement in Australia as a whole as
well as the Australian National Committee on Refugee Women (ANCORW) have

Malaysian solution, the detention of asylum seekers and combating the view that
boat arrivals are not genuine refugees . Although there are many other concerns, the
issues listed above are the major ones.

impulse towards our mother and our first hatred and our first murderous wish
against our father. Sigmund Freud(Clark, 122) The Oedipus conflict or complex is
a concept developed by Sigmund Freud to explain the origin of certain
psychological disorders in childhood. It is defined as a child s unconscious desire
for the exclusive love of the parent of the opposite sex. This desire includes jealousy
toward the parent of the same sex and the unconscious wish for that parent s death.

Oedipus, outraged at the accusation, denounces it as a plot of Creon to gain the
throne. Jocasta appears just in time to avoid a battle between the two men. Seers,
she assures Oedipus, are not infallible. To prove her point she cites the old
prophecy that her son should kill his father and have children by his mother. She
prevented its fulfillment, she confesses, by abandoning their infant son in the
mountains. As for Laius, he had been killed by robber s years later at the junction
of three roads on the route to Delphi. This information makes Oedipus uneasy. He
recalls having killed a man answering Laius description at this very spot when he
was fleeing from his home in Corinth to avoid fulfillment of a similar prophecy. An
aged messenger arrives from Corinth, at this point, to announce the death of King
Polybus, supposed father of Oedipus, and the election of Oedipus as king in his
stead. On account of the old prophecy Oedipus refuses to return to Corinth until his
mother, too, is dead. To calm his fears the messenger assures him that he is not the
blood son of Polybus and Merope, but a foundling from the house of Laius deserted
in the mountains. This statement is confirmed by the old shepherd whom Jocasta had

function of the bladder is to store urine produced in the kidney prior to urination.
The urinary system of the body ensures the removal of wastes and excess fluid from
the body in the form of urine. To ensure normal urination to ensue, all the parts in the

The Importance Of National Honor Society
The first idea I believe National Honor Society should participate in is hosting a
Memorial Day celebration for the families in our community that have lost loved
ones due to serving our country. I think this would be amazing because it would
give the people in our community a sense that they are not alone and introduce
them to people that they can lean on. At this event, we could have food/treats and
potentially an open microphone where people would be able to share the story of
their loved one(s). This could then become a yearly event that people look forward
to because it would be a celebration of life. I realize this could turn into a huge event
because there are many people that could possibly attend but we could keep that

Religion, Religion And Mythology
If religion is a mythology, then is a mythology a religion? Well, Religion and
mythology may seem like too different things, but yet they still do overlap on some
aspects. Both talk about a system that has a high importance to many people.
Religion is based an organized collection of beliefs, culture, and perspectives, that s
spread around the world. While, mythology is referred to a collection of myths
which is told by a group of people. This is used to explain nature, history, or customs!
Personally I believe in Islam, the religion. In Islam we believe that god (Allah) is the
creator and sustainer of every living thing. We believe that god created the world,
universe and the heavens, just like many other religions. Also, the founder of Islam
is Muhammad; to Muslims he is Allah s prophet. I believe that Islam is different
than mythology because myths don t have a known founder. They were just
passed down through generations until someone decided to write them down.
Unlike Islam, Native American mythology believes that the world was created by
a crane. Natives mostly use animals as the center of their mythologies. Also, the
natives believe. God made some men of mud, but they were very soft and limp
and couldn t see. They could speak, but what they said didn t make sense. When
they got wet they couldn t even stand up. God saw that they were of no use so he
broke them up. Muslims also believe that humans are made of clay, the devils made
of fire, and the angles out of
A Thousand Acres Literary Analysis
Abuse Many abused children cling to the hope that growing up will bring escape and
freedom but she is still a prisoner of her childhood; attempting to create a new life,
she reencounters the trauma (Herman, Trauma and Recovery). In the novel A
Thousand Acres the protagonists, Ginny and Rose, take the responsibility of being
the women of the household after their motherpasses away. They raise their younger
sister and take care of all their father s needs. Their father, Larry Cook, asserts his
position as a dominant male and forces his daughters to submit to him through abuse,
however, in the end Ginny and Rose revolt against their father. Ginny and Rose

Rose says to Ginny Daddy thinks history starts fresh every day, every minute that
time itself begins with the feelings he s having right now. That s how he keeps

against their father for the way he treats them. They realize that if they continue to
endure their father s torture, they will be encouraging it. Larry believes that his
daughters are weak and incapable of voicing their own opinion and because of this
he continues to oppress them. However, Rose and Ginny attempt to build their
confidence to be able to retaliate against their father. Rose tells her father that he
cannot just roll over [her and Ginny], [he] may be [their] father, but that [does not]

and takes a stand against her father to declare justice for Ginny and her. Both

Ginny states that Rose, her and all the women she knew suffered from abuse

Rose is not yet satisfied and wants her father to repent and regret all that he has done

telling her father how to behave with them is not enough and that they must take
further steps to make their father realize his mistakes. The continuous torture builds

How Did Ducati Become 2nd Most Profitable Motorcycle
Maker...
2. How did Ducati become the second most profitable motorcycle maker in the world
despite its small scale?
Platform Approach: Ducati divided the bike into a small number of component and
sub component assemblies. A supplier was responsible for managing and delivering
the component. The platform approach minimizes detailed, multi step assembly
processes. Consequently, fewer Ducati man hours are needed to assemble a
motorcycle. The assembly expertise of each component is concentrated at the
supplier so that Ducati assemblers can apply higher value labor on the overall bike
assembly.
High Degree of Component Outsourcing: As of 2001, Ducati outsourced 87% of its
components to suppliers. The company planned to increase that rate to 90%. As ...

This too protects Ducati from Japanese substitutions.
Ducati has developed and managed their value chain very well. This contributes
substantially to their strong position. I ve already discussed Ducati s effective
management of Inbound Logistics and Operations. Ducati s Outbound Logistics
approach is oriented around brand management in each of its markets. This is
accomplished through dedicated, single franchise dealerships instead of multi
franchise dealerships. This decision means that Ducati seeks a high value customer
experience with lower volumes in lieu of a mass market approach. This is a strategy
that is consistent with being a niche player; it makes sense for the Japanese firms to
have multi franchise dealerships since they are close substitutes of each other.
Marketing and Sales represents Ducati s most significant growth opportunities
because their brand management strategy advances the Ducati name into the
consciousness of their markets. In addition to motorcycles, Ducati extends the
brand by selling accessories and apparel. For sure, Ducati owners will buy these
products but perhaps more importantly, the aspirational aspect of the brand drives
people to buy Ducati branded items even if they don t own the bike. This behavior
is seen with the Harley Davidson brand: many people wear H D clothing and
The Main Agents Of Change
This research aims to investigate the response of the main agents of change namely
the educators and administrators in Malaysia, to adopt the Common European
Framework of Reference (CEFR). It specifically focuses on the interaction between
the borrowed language policy and the agents (administrators and educators) at the
tertiary level of education and the ultimate aim is to investigate how the macro level
policy is acted out at micro level. To begin with, this research will examine on how
the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) has responded to overcome the
insufficient level of English proficiency particularly among graduates in Malaysia.
Next, by drawing on various theoretical resources on borrowed languagepolicy as
well as the concept of governmentality as a theoretical framework of investigation,
this research seeks to explore the extent to which this language policyis embedded
into the practices through the concept of governmentality. In addition, this research
will reveal the direction of localizing the global language policy that has taken place
in the respective institution by the administrators and educators, thus providing a
better understanding on the implementation of the policy. Finally, this research will
also identify the challenges and advantages of the existing language syllabus and
institution s practices in line with the CEFR policy. In this first chapter, I will
describe and introduce the readers to the contextual background of the research which

James Joyce Symbolism
The Dead By James Joyce tells the tale of the early twentieth century upper class
society in the Irish city of Dublin. The story tells of the characters entrapment, the
tragic lives they lead and hiding behind the conventions of their society. This
comes together, not only to tell of the individual tragedy of these people s lives, but
to tell the tragic story of all of Ireland, as its true problems become obscured in so
many ways. The story dramatizes a dialogue between Gabriel s consciousness and
unconsciousness. Throughout the story there are several signs of the symbolism
theory. Therefore, I will show how symbolism plays an important role in the story
The Dead. Joyce lets symbolism flow freely throughout his story. He utilizes his main
characters and objects to impress upon the readers his view of Dublins crippled
condition. Coupled with his depiction of Dublin s transfixed status through the
characters, Joyce illustrates his theme of paralysis through snow. Symbolically
representing the cold and dead Dublin due to its uncertain political period. Winter is
a time for celebration and holiday but it is also a symbol for eternal sleep and death.
Joyce takes on a more deeper meaning, symbolizing how humans are the same way,
frozen temporarily in an impermanent state: alive but always dying; just as snow will
always melt, human life will always end. Throughout the text all manifestations of
winter, cold, white snow and the season itself usually represents mortality.
Why I Am A Bad Writer
From the time I was in about fourth or fifth grade I began to dislike certain subjects
in school. I loathed everything about writing assignments. I didn t write at home
before that the thought of writing for myself never really occurred to me. I hated the
deadlines the length requirements and I just tried to get them done and had no
intention of writingwell because I told myself I was a bad writer. I have never really
known whether or not I truly am a bad writer. I continued these habits of just writing
something down to get a decent gradeall throughout school. I usually got an okay
grade because I followed the prompt closely and did the minimum amount of work
for the paper. I didn t start the assignments until either the night before it was due.
As I got older I would type the paper on my phone in school that day then print it
off in the library moments before class. I continued writing in that awful ritual of
complacency until the end of 11th grade. We had to write a paper on The Great
Gatsby a book that I never read. I read couple of notes on the internet and then wrote
the paper and never reread it or edited it all. I did my usual routine and followed the
prompt and turned my paper in. When I got my paper back I was shocked to find out
I didn t get even a half decent grade I was given a zero. I went to my teacher after
class to speak with him about the grade and he told me I got the grade that I
deserved. He said I was lazy and never tried to truly work in

The Impact Of The Northwest Ordinance Of 1787
Throughout the course of United States history, there have been multiple occurrences
in which influenced and impacted the United States as it is today. Since the
colonization of the colonies, the United States has proven to have improved its nation
through many acts, movements, political persons, and governmental theories.
However; the Northwest Ordinanceof 1787, the creation of the Erie Canal, Henry
Clay s American System , the Fugitive Slave Act, and the Emancipation Proclamation
were all specific occurrences and events that impacted the development of the United
Statespolitically and economically.
The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 was an important occurrence that effected the
United States politically and economically because it was one of the first
movements that introduced the abolition or freedom of slaves. The Northwest
Ordinance of 1787 was a land act that provided for orderly settlement and established
a process by which settles territories would become the states of Ohio, Illinois,
Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. It therefore banned the slavery in these Northwest
Territories. Furthermore, this Ordinance prohibited slavery and ear marked funds
from land sales for the support of schools. The land ordinances of the 1780s were a
great and enduring achievement of the Confederation Congress. It therefore provided
for an orderly settlement and the admission of new states based on equality; there
would be no politically dependent colonies in the West. The Northwest
The Military Institutional System For Military Service...
Individuals who join the military come from various backgrounds, once within the
military institutional system, families can be at an advantage by stable employment
and benefits, and safe, well maintained local environments (Rodriguez Margolin,
2015, p.35). However, military deployments and duty related separations are very
common for military service members and their families. They are one of the most
widely recognized and documented stressors for military families. Nevertheless, the
experience of separation can also strengthen military couples and families by
increasing their resiliency (as cited in Norwood, Fullerton, Hagen, 1996). The

Complicating the picture are common gender differences in: rates of internalizing and
externalizing symptoms, coping strategy utilization, and susceptibility to
environmental factors, including parenting among youth. Although early studies on
parental deployment suggested boys were at elevated risk (as cited in Jensen et al.
1996), most recent studies (as cited in e.g., Chartrand et al. 2008; Flake et al. 2009)
п¬Ѓnd no main effect of gender on outcomes. However, during adolescence, boys
appear more at risk for suicidality (Reed et al. 2011) and girls for emotional,
behavioral, and academic problems during their parent s deployment. There is
evidence that more complex patterns do exist such as, findings that parents girl
school aged children reported higher externalizing symptoms during deployment and
parents of boys reported elevated symptoms at reunion. (Rodriguez Margolin, 2015,
p.28). In addition, absences that pose more danger or hardship to the absent parent
(e.g., when separations are traumatic, long, or lead to п¬Ѓnancial deprivation) are
linked to poorer functioning for youth. Within military deployment literature, a few
reviews provide detailed information about the intersection of deployment demands
and developmental changes during early childhood and adolescence (as cited in
Milburn and Lightfoot 2013). Desert Storm era studies suggested younger children
were more at risk during deployment. However, studies of recent conflicts have

with these loans were large balloon payments and short maturities. The pricing for

The Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 morphed Fannie Mae yet again.
The prior change to a mixed ownership corporation was voided. HUD made Fannie

Biological Warfare In Vietnam War
In many cases, war is fought in order to gain something. It could be territory, or
wealth, or power, but in some cases it is fought simply to kill. A type of warfare that
exemplifies this is chemical and biological warfare. These attacks are aimed simply
at killing everybody. In addition, most people think of biological warfare as a very
recent wartactic, dating back not much further than agent orange, deployed in
Vietnam. In fact, one of the first and one of the most devastating instances of
biological warfare occurred much earlier, in 1347. This was the attack that brought
the black plague from it s origins in western Asia to Europe through Caffa, a city on
the modern Crimean peninsula.
Though originally the plan of the attack was to capture the city, it ended with
massive death both in the city, and millions of deaths in the surrounding countries.
So although biological warfare is considered a modern tactic, one of the most
devastating attacks ever involved biological warfare at the siege of Caffa in 1347. ...

Should Prayer Be Taken Out Of Schools
So many times after the pledge of allegiance, the moment of silence is taken into
account, to pray for many things that happen in the world. Now, there is an
argument and controversy in that; prayer or acts of religion should be taken out of
school. School prayer should not be taken out of schools because it brings unity
between people, a form of expression, and builds morality. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus
says, Leave the children alone, and don t try to keep them from coming to Me,
because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this (Holman Christian
Standard Bible). Being with other believers, in the faith, for unity to grow stronger

Through life, doors will be open and closed, but it is a choice one has to make. We
often forget that an important part of religious freedom is the acceptance (Defend
Your Rights). Morality is a big part of everyday life, in the same way, just as prayer
in school is important to some people, it all goes hand in hand with morality
coinciding with prayer. Morality are the principles concerning the distinction
between right and wrong or good and bad behavior. Morality put into the school
can do nothing due to the wicked way of the world, yet if prayer is continued; then
that prayer helps make decisions to help make the world a little better. We see only
the results which a man s choices make out of his raw material. But God does not
judge him on the raw material at all, but on what he has done with it (Lewis 71). In
Lewis book Mere Christianity, he talks about how morality turns into a
psychoanalysis that ultimately reflects on how the flesh, or body, acts with the world.
With prayer in school, morality becomes very important to
Mathias 4 how people live their lives in the way God wants them to. For Christians,
prayer is a tool that is used for guidance, spiritually and personally through all the

major, I expected to improve my writing and communication skills to better

that English is essential in my everyday life and for my college classes. English
102 helped me to recognize that it is necessary to know how to construct a well

learned that to communicate adequately I must know how to support multiple
academic arguments, understand that it is important to incorporate others ideas in

also gives the writer an outline of his or her body paragraphs. As a result, I have

People in college like me use music as a way to focus ourselves. Sometimes in

True Professionalism is Related to a PersonВґs Attitudes,...
Nowadays, the competitiveness of companies and the fight for customers, it s
increasingly more and more difficult to attract and retain clients on their side. For
this reason, companies must pay great attention and care to their employees, as
they are the ones in constant contact with customers. This essay will talk about
professionalism, particularly what constitutes professionalism, what are the
consequences when employees do not follow the company s conduct for the big
company such as Rolls Royce and will look at some of the facts how Rolls Royce

The word professionalism is often referred to as person s attitude, behaviour , and

professional does not necessary describes a person with a set of job qualifications,
it is rather a label one have to earn in the eyes of others. So what describes true
professionalism? There is no generally adopted norm of what constitutes
professionalism, what defines professionalism in one company may not apply

Shepard Fairey, The Artist Behind The Barack Obama...
Shepard Fairey, the artist behind the Barack Obama presidential election Hope
poster, chose a photograph as an aid to achieving an ideal pose, that was taken by
an Associated Press, AP, photographer, Mannie Garcia. This led to a controversy as
Fairey used an image he did not own for his personal artwork. This leads to the
question of whether illustrators and artists should be allowed to use photographs
under the copyrightFair Use clause without having to ask permission or pay royalties
to the original artist or copyright holder.
Shepard Fairey is an American contemporary graphic designer, street artist,
illustrator and founder of the OBEY Clothing company. In 1988 he graduated from
Idyllwild Arts Academy in Palm Springs, California. Fairey realized his interest in
art while working at a skateboard shop where he proceeded to post his homemade
stickers. From there, he moved into the street art culture and graffiti movement
where he became interested in stencils. While receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts
at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISDI), Fairey became known for his Andre
the Giant Has a Posse sticker campaign for OBEY. However, his fame sprouted
during the 2008 U.S. presidential election when he created Barack Obama s Hope
poster, which sparked controversy. Some of his other works which combine elements
of graffiti, pop art, business art, and Marxist Theory have been shown at The
Smithsonian, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art in

A Brief Overview of Epilepsy
A brief overview of epilepsy
Epilepsy refers to a group of mental disorders. These disorders have different
symptoms, causes and treatments. They all range in severity, some being life
threatening and others being benign.
The common thread that ties these disorders together are that they have the symptom
of seizures, and all have the same direct cause. A seizureis caused when the electrical
pattern of neuronal movement is disrupted by an abnormal current. This can result in
muscle spasms, loss of consciousness, convulsions and strange sensations or
emotions. Anything that interferes with the brains electrical current can lead to
seizures. Being epileptic does not mean that a person has had a seizure before, it is a
tendency for recurring seizures.
Different types of epilepsy and their symptoms
There are many different types of epilepsy, although all fit into one of two
categories: generalised or partial (also known as focal or local). Generalised refers
to seizures that involve the entire brain at once, where partial refers to seizures that
start from one area in the brain. Within generalised and partial epilepsy, there are two
other categories, as well: idiopathic (the cause is genetic) or symptomatic (cause
identified)/cryptogenic (cause suspected, but not discovered).
Generalised Seizures (and their symptoms)
A general take on the symptoms of Generalised seizures are crying or shouting from
the patient, rhythmic movements of the arms and legs, eyes are often open
King Kong Entertainment Of The Masses Analysis
King Kong: The Entertainment of the Masses It s money and adventure and fame.
It s the thrill of a lifetime and a long sea voyage that starts at six o clock tomorrow
morning (King Kong, Carl Denham). As Carl Denham (Robert Armstrong) drags
King Kong to Broadway, he makes ten thousand dollars in just one night for the
exhibition of the Eighth Wonder of the World. Thousands of New Yorkers paid
twenty dollars per ticket, or the equivalent to three hundred sixty nine dollars in
today s currency, to gaze at a prehistoric ape. This gaze found in King Kongis the
imperial gaze developed against foreigners in early Hollywood travel films. Ann
Kaplan comments on early travel films in Hollywood, Science and Cinema: The
Imperial and the Male Gaze in Classic Filmand states that: They [travelers] mainly
went to dominate, exploit and to use the Other for their own ends. (61). For this
reason, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right after the audience gazes and criticises Kong for the first time, Denham asks
the press to take the first photographs of Kong and his captors. As the sixteen
photographers begin to take pictures, Kong roars in fury. Since Denham is only
interested in the profit that can be generated from the press, he quickly calms the
audience and tells the photographer to capture a photo of Ann (Fay Wray) and
Driscoll (Bruce Cabot). A closeup of the flashing cameras is shown and then Kong
gets out of control. It is worthy to mention that Kong had not roared as loud as in this
scene (not on stage at least) to notice that the flash was what triggered Kong to act in
a savage manner. It is then clear that the use of technology enraged Kong because he
felt estranged and threaten. The camera symbolizes how the white traveler
dehumanizes the foreign individual and reproduces this visualization to the rest of the

Paid search is a great way to get visitors to your website NOW. No need to wait
months for the search engines to pick up your website and blog posts just pay, and
your listing shows up! When you use Google AdWords, LinkedIn ads or Facebook
ads, you re spending money on each click you generate, so you need to know how
much you re spending to acquire each visitor and each lead, as well as how much of
a profit you re making on that adspend.
You can get some very specific tips on improving the ROI of your paid marketing
from our blog.
1. Click Through Rate (CTR)
The percentage of the audience that viewed your ad and actually clicked on the link
provided, calculated by dividing total clicks by the number of impressions.

Is the page relevant to the text of the ad and the original search phrase? Is the value
proposition clear? Is the offer compelling?
4. Cost Per Acquisition (CPA)
A measurement of how much you are spending on PPC advertising for each
conversion. Calculate your overall paid search CPA by dividing total ad spend by
your total PPC conversion rate. Or, calculate it on a per campaign basis by dividing
your average cost per click by your conversion rate for a specific ad/keyword
combination.
What to Look For
Obviously lower is better here, but, depending on what a conversion is worth to you,
this could be a substantial number.
How to Lower Your Cost Per Acquisition
Tracking your CPA can help you optimize your PPC bidding strategy. For example,
Google AdWords now offers a conversion based bidding option that lets advertisers
set their maximum ad bids according to a target CPA. If you know your historical
CPAs from previously successful PPC campaigns, you can use that figure to help bid
more efficiently on new keywords.
5. Return on Ad Spend (ROAS)
ROAS measures the return on your PPC advertising investment, calculated by
dividing your total ad spend by the total revenue generated from those PPC
conversions.
What to Look For
Look for any positive number here. Clicks and visits are all very nice, but unless you
have an

Opening Paragraph For Essay.pdf

  • 1. Opening Paragraph For Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Opening Paragraph For Essay" presents a unique challenge. At its core, the task seems paradoxical – how does one effectively begin an essay about beginning an essay? The difficulty lies in navigating the fine line between capturing the reader's attention and avoiding clichГ©s or overly formulaic approaches. It requires a delicate balance of creativity, precision, and originality. Moreover, delving into the intricacies of introductory paragraphs demands a deep understanding of the purpose of an opening statement, its role in setting the tone and direction of the essay, and its potential impact on the reader's engagement. The challenge is not merely in writing any introductory paragraph but in crafting one that is compelling, thought-provoking, and intellectually stimulating. It necessitates introspection, critical analysis, and the ability to think outside conventional boundaries. • 4. William Isaacs Definition Of Dialogue William Isaacs, starts with the same analysis as Phil Harkins: one of the most fundamental struggles for any leader stems from the separation between who we are as people and what we do as professionals. This separation is artificial. What we do in private affects how we do in public. How we think does affect how we talk. And vice versa. Isaacs defines dialogue less instrumental. The characteristic of a dialogue is the open exchange of different perspectives leading to something new. In dialogue problems get dissolved. Meaning flows in the relational field. Dialogue is opposed to discussion. In discussion people think alone and use the conversation to push their agenda or conviction. At its best, a skillful discussion serves the solution... Food additives are substances added to food to preserve flavor or enhance its taste and appearance. Some additives have been used for centuries; for example, preserving food by pickling (with vinegar), salting, as with bacon, preserving sweets or using sulphur dioxide as in some wines. It was the first time I have heard live poetry and it was a different, as well as challenging, experience. As I am used to analyzing and tearing apart poems on paper, it posed an obstacle as I had to merely sit and listen. The sound aspect of poetrywas emphasized. I could not sit down and reread the poem, and make connections, I had to experience the poem as a moment. Mihaela Moscaliuc read from her collection of poetry first. She grew up in Romania, under an oppressive totalitarian regime. In an interview with San Marcos Mercury, she was asked You grew up in a Romania under the crushing censorship of the Ceausescu regime. How in the world did you decide to become a poet? Moscaliuc answered by saying, I never decided to become a poet, really. I would say I m someone who writes poetry, someone who writes out of need, out of guilt, out of various fears. At the writing series, she mentions that if she never left Romania, she never would have written poetry. In America, from a distance, she writes about how the politics and social issues define her. Although we sometimes hear on the news about people dying by car accidents, there are much more cases when people are not injured by car accidents thanks to the range of safety equipment designed to keep the people on the car safe in the event of a car crash. The range of safety equipment is supported in the background by the modern advanced science. First of all, seatbelts are installed in every kind of car that is being sold. Seatbelts take a very important role in cars because it works in many ways to protect the passengers from danger and car accidents. One of the reasons why seatbelts are important is because seatbelts reduce the speed of a body of a passenger as it gets an experience of an abrupt decreasing of speed. Since the velocity of the car and the passenger is independent, even when the car crashed into a wall and the velocity suddenly decreases to zero, the body of a passenger will want to still move forwards. Do you think this accurately describes the political and social place of poetry in the twentieth century and/or the twenty first century? Explain why you agree or disagree in the case of your chosen poet, justifying your answer with close reference to your poet s work and its reception and interpretation. This essay examines the effects that poetry has on society, both socially and politically. Poetry has been around for centuries, and it is a common misconception that it serves no purpose. One critic in particular, W.H Auden claimed, poetry makes nothing happen . However poetry awakens the reader s eyes and gives an insight to the society in which we live in today, and which has been before us. As evident in Ezra Pound s work, as he explored the use of imagism to critique modernism and twentieth century, forcing the readers to think more about society as a whole. The purpose of this essay is to show that poetry does make something happen and can have instrumental effects on society, whether it is a poet critiquing society, or simply providing another interpretation. Poetry is a code than needs to be cracked, it is a riddle that makes the reader bring out their true creativity, which is why I disagree with W.H Auden in saying, poetry makes nothing happen. 2. Approach Hugh Selwyn Mauberley I chose to analyse this poem as it provides a finely chiseled portrait of one aspect of British literary

They raise their younger sister and take care of all their father s needs. Rose says to Ginny Daddy thinks history starts fresh every day, every minute that time itself begins with the feelings he s having right now. That s how he keeps betraying us, why he roars at us with such conviction. We have to stand up to that (Smile, 216). Ginny and Rose decide to finally express their opinions and feelings against their father for the way he treats them. They realize that if they continue to endure their father s torture, they will be encouraging it. Larry believes that his daughters are weak and incapable of voicing their own opinion and because of this he continues to oppress them. However, Rose and Ginny attempt to build their confidence to be able to retaliate against their father. Rose tells her father that he cannot just roll over [her and Ginny], [he] may be [their] father, but that [does not] give [him] the right to say anything to Ginny or her (Smile, 182). Rose perseveres and takes a stand against her father to declare justice for Ginny and her. Both sisters not only stand up for themselves but also for the women around them, as Ginny states that Rose, her and all the women she knew suffered from abuse (Smile, 115). Rose says weakened is not enough. Destroyed [is not] enough. He [has] got to repent and feel humiliation and regret. I [will not] be satisfied until he knows what he is says Rose (Smile, 216). Even after Ginny and Rose take a stand, Rose is not yet satisfied and wants her father to repent and regret all that he has done to his daughters. Living with the emotional and sexual torture, Rose realizes that telling her father how to behave with them is not enough and that they must take further steps to make their father realize his mistakes. The continuous torture builds up and results in revolt from the two sisters who are forced to be submissive to their dominant
  • 24. How Did Ducati Become 2nd Most Profitable Motorcycle Maker... 2. How did Ducati become the second most profitable motorcycle maker in the world despite its small scale? Platform Approach: Ducati divided the bike into a small number of component and sub component assemblies. A supplier was responsible for managing and delivering the component. The platform approach minimizes detailed, multi step assembly processes. Consequently, fewer Ducati man hours are needed to assemble a motorcycle. The assembly expertise of each component is concentrated at the supplier so that Ducati assemblers can apply higher value labor on the overall bike assembly. High Degree of Component Outsourcing: As of 2001, Ducati outsourced 87% of its components to suppliers. The company planned to increase that rate to 90%. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This too protects Ducati from Japanese substitutions. Ducati has developed and managed their value chain very well. This contributes substantially to their strong position. I ve already discussed Ducati s effective management of Inbound Logistics and Operations. Ducati s Outbound Logistics approach is oriented around brand management in each of its markets. This is accomplished through dedicated, single franchise dealerships instead of multi franchise dealerships. This decision means that Ducati seeks a high value customer experience with lower volumes in lieu of a mass market approach. This is a strategy that is consistent with being a niche player; it makes sense for the Japanese firms to have multi franchise dealerships since they are close substitutes of each other. Marketing and Sales represents Ducati s most significant growth opportunities because their brand management strategy advances the Ducati name into the consciousness of their markets. In addition to motorcycles, Ducati extends the brand by selling accessories and apparel. For sure, Ducati owners will buy these products but perhaps more importantly, the aspirational aspect of the brand drives people to buy Ducati branded items even if they don t own the bike. This behavior is seen with the Harley Davidson brand: many people wear H D clothing and

The Main Agents Of Change This research aims to investigate the response of the main agents of change namely the educators and administrators in Malaysia, to adopt the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). It specifically focuses on the interaction between the borrowed language policy and the agents (administrators and educators) at the tertiary level of education and the ultimate aim is to investigate how the macro level policy is acted out at micro level. To begin with, this research will examine on how the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) has responded to overcome the insufficient level of English proficiency particularly among graduates in Malaysia. Next, by drawing on various theoretical resources on borrowed languagepolicy as well as the concept of governmentality as a theoretical framework of investigation, this research seeks to explore the extent to which this language policyis embedded into the practices through the concept of governmentality. In addition, this research will reveal the direction of localizing the global language policy that has taken place in the respective institution by the administrators and educators, thus providing a better understanding on the implementation of the policy. Finally, this research will also identify the challenges and advantages of the existing language syllabus and institution s practices in line with the CEFR policy. • 27. James Joyce Symbolism The Dead By James Joyce tells the tale of the early twentieth century upper class society in the Irish city of Dublin. The story tells of the characters entrapment, the tragic lives they lead and hiding behind the conventions of their society. This comes together, not only to tell of the individual tragedy of these people s lives, but to tell the tragic story of all of Ireland, as its true problems become obscured in so many ways. The story dramatizes a dialogue between Gabriel s consciousness and unconsciousness. Throughout the story there are several signs of the symbolism theory. Therefore, I will show how symbolism plays an important role in the story The Dead. Joyce lets symbolism flow freely throughout his story. He utilizes his main characters and objects to impress upon the readers his view of Dublins crippled condition. Coupled with his depiction of Dublin s transfixed status through the characters, Joyce illustrates his theme of paralysis through snow. Symbolically representing the cold and dead Dublin due to its uncertain political period. Winter is a time for celebration and holiday but it is also a symbol for eternal sleep and death. Joyce takes on a more deeper meaning, symbolizing how humans are the same way, frozen temporarily in an impermanent state: alive but always dying; just as snow will always melt, human life will always end. Throughout the text all manifestations of winter, cold, white snow and the season itself usually represents mortality.

I didn t write at home before that the thought of writing for myself never really occurred to me. I hated the deadlines the length requirements and I just tried to get them done and had no intention of writingwell because I told myself I was a bad writer. I have never really known whether or not I truly am a bad writer. I continued these habits of just writing something down to get a decent gradeall throughout school. I usually got an okay grade because I followed the prompt closely and did the minimum amount of work for the paper. I didn t start the assignments until either the night before it was due. As I got older I would type the paper on my phone in school that day then print it off in the library moments before class. I continued writing in that awful ritual of complacency until the end of 11th grade. We had to write a paper on The Great Gatsby a book that I never read. I read couple of notes on the internet and then wrote the paper and never reread it or edited it all. I did my usual routine and followed the prompt and turned my paper in. When I got my paper back I was shocked to find out I didn t get even a half decent grade I was given a zero. I went to my teacher after class to speak with him about the grade and he told me I got the grade that I deserved. He said I was lazy and never tried to truly work in

  • 30. The Impact Of The Northwest Ordinance Of 1787 Throughout the course of United States history, there have been multiple occurrences in which influenced and impacted the United States as it is today. Since the colonization of the colonies, the United States has proven to have improved its nation through many acts, movements, political persons, and governmental theories. However; the Northwest Ordinanceof 1787, the creation of the Erie Canal, Henry Clay s American System , the Fugitive Slave Act, and the Emancipation Proclamation were all specific occurrences and events that impacted the development of the United Statespolitically and economically. The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 was an important occurrence that effected the United States politically and economically because it was one of the first movements that introduced the abolition or freedom of slaves. The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 was a land act that provided for orderly settlement and established a process by which settles territories would become the states of Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. It therefore banned the slavery in these Northwest Territories. Furthermore, this Ordinance prohibited slavery and ear marked funds from land sales for the support of schools. The land ordinances of the 1780s were a great and enduring achievement of the Confederation Congress. It therefore provided for an orderly settlement and the admission of new states based on equality; there would be no politically dependent colonies in the West. The Northwest

Individuals who join the military come from various backgrounds, once within the military institutional system, families can be at an advantage by stable employment and benefits, and safe, well maintained local environments (Rodriguez Margolin, 2015, p.35). However, military deployments and duty related separations are very common for military service members and their families. They are one of the most widely recognized and documented stressors for military families. Complicating the picture are common gender differences in: rates of internalizing and externalizing symptoms, coping strategy utilization, and susceptibility to environmental factors, including parenting among youth. However, during adolescence, boys appear more at risk for suicidality (Reed et al. 2011) and girls for emotional, behavioral, and academic problems during their parent s deployment. There is evidence that more complex patterns do exist such as, findings that parents girl school aged children reported higher externalizing symptoms during deployment and parents of boys reported elevated symptoms at reunion. In addition, absences that pose more danger or hardship to the absent parent (e.g., when separations are traumatic, long, or lead to п¬Ѓnancial deprivation) are linked to poorer functioning for youth. Within military deployment literature, a few reviews provide detailed information about the intersection of deployment demands and developmental changes during early childhood and adolescence (as cited in Milburn and Lightfoot 2013). Before 1930, features of Housing loans presented significant challenges. To obtain a home loan a down payment of half the value the house was required. Further issues with these loans were large balloon payments and short maturities. The pricing for mortgage loans varied widely due to no nationwide housing market. The main funding for these loans was provided by life insurers, thrifts, and commercial banks. By 1932, a housing crisis was wreaking havoc on home loans. A type of warfare that exemplifies this is chemical and biological warfare. These attacks are aimed simply at killing everybody. In addition, most people think of biological warfare as a very recent wartactic, dating back not much further than agent orange, deployed in Vietnam. In fact, one of the first and one of the most devastating instances of biological warfare occurred much earlier, in 1347. This was the attack that brought the black plague from it s origins in western Asia to Europe through Caffa, a city on the modern Crimean peninsula. Though originally the plan of the attack was to capture the city, it ended with massive death both in the city, and millions of deaths in the surrounding countries. Now, there is an argument and controversy in that; prayer or acts of religion should be taken out of school. School prayer should not be taken out of schools because it brings unity between people, a form of expression, and builds morality. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus says, Leave the children alone, and don t try to keep them from coming to Me, because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this (Holman Christian Standard Bible). We often forget that an important part of religious freedom is the acceptance (Defend Your Rights). Morality is a big part of everyday life, in the same way, just as prayer in school is important to some people, it all goes hand in hand with morality coinciding with prayer. Morality are the principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior. Morality put into the school can do nothing due to the wicked way of the world, yet if prayer is continued; then that prayer helps make decisions to help make the world a little better. We see only the results which a man s choices make out of his raw material. But God does not judge him on the raw material at all, but on what he has done with it (Lewis 71). In Lewis book Mere Christianity, he talks about how morality turns into a psychoanalysis that ultimately reflects on how the flesh, or body, acts with the world. With prayer in school, morality becomes very important to Mathias 4 how people live their lives in the way God wants them to. For Christians, prayer is a tool that is used for guidance, spiritually and personally through all the challenges that Satan brings. In the school system, prayer lays a foundation that is upheld with the values taught there. Understanding that school and spiritual life is on two different spectrums,

  • 44. A Brief Overview of Epilepsy A brief overview of epilepsy Epilepsy refers to a group of mental disorders. These disorders have different symptoms, causes and treatments. They all range in severity, some being life threatening and others being benign. The common thread that ties these disorders together are that they have the symptom of seizures, and all have the same direct cause. A seizureis caused when the electrical pattern of neuronal movement is disrupted by an abnormal current. This can result in muscle spasms, loss of consciousness, convulsions and strange sensations or emotions. Anything that interferes with the brains electrical current can lead to seizures. Being epileptic does not mean that a person has had a seizure before, it is a tendency for recurring seizures. Different types of epilepsy and their symptoms There are many different types of epilepsy, although all fit into one of two categories: generalised or partial (also known as focal or local). Generalised refers to seizures that involve the entire brain at once, where partial refers to seizures that start from one area in the brain. Within generalised and partial epilepsy, there are two other categories, as well: idiopathic (the cause is genetic) or symptomatic (cause identified)/cryptogenic (cause suspected, but not discovered). Generalised Seizures (and their symptoms) A general take on the symptoms of Generalised seizures are crying or shouting from the patient, rhythmic movements of the arms and legs, eyes are often open

Right after the audience gazes and criticises Kong for the first time, Denham asks the press to take the first photographs of Kong and his captors. As the sixteen photographers begin to take pictures, Kong roars in fury. Since Denham is only interested in the profit that can be generated from the press, he quickly calms the audience and tells the photographer to capture a photo of Ann (Fay Wray) and Driscoll (Bruce Cabot). A closeup of the flashing cameras is shown and then Kong gets out of control. It is worthy to mention that Kong had not roared as loud as in this scene (not on stage at least) to notice that the flash was what triggered Kong to act in a savage manner. It is then clear that the use of technology enraged Kong because he felt estranged and threaten. The camera symbolizes how the white traveler dehumanizes the foreign individual and reproduces this visualization to the rest of the
