Stock Market Failure
As of now, you are all most likely aware that our nation s economy is rapidly declining because of the
stock market crash. What you may not know is that your father and I have lost our life s savings
because of it. You see, your father and I decided to invest in some shares, hoping to make a profit in
the long run. What a mistake that turned out to be! Although we only used a miniscule portion of our
money, we bought the stocks on a margin, receiving loans from the bank. When the market crashed,
our bank announced that all loans must be fully paid off. We lost everything. We were forced to pay
off a loan that cost more than our personal investment in the shares. The loan was worth such a great
amount of money that your father and I had were

Executive Branch Essay
The comparison of a state with great plains and a state with mighty mountains seems unimaginable
but very possible, at least on governmental standpoint. The great state of Illinois and one of the
original state, North Carolina, have set up a state government very similar to the federal government
and similar to each other. Their comparisons and contrasts are most noticeable in the legislative and
executive branches.
There are three main parts of an executive branch; The president, the vice president, and the cabinet.
The president is the head of the U.S. executive branch, but in state executive branches the governor is
the head honcho. Every State in America has a governor that is the chief executive of the state,

legislative branch typically is a bicameral system. The only exception to this is the state of Nebraska
which only has a senate and not a house of representatives. The legislative power of the state of
Illinois is vested in the General Assembly, which is composed of a 59 member Senate and a 118
member House of Representatives. North Carolina s Senate has 50 members and their House of
Representatives has 120 members. After those blaring differences Illinois and North Carolina s
Legislature branches are quite similar. Their regular activities are enacting, amending or repealing
laws, passing resolutions, adopting appropriation bills and conducting inquiries on proposed
legislation. Both states legislation acts on amendments to the U.S. Constitution when they are
submitted by Congress, and proposes and submits amendments to the Illinois Constitution for
consideration by voter. During the scenario of an impeachment, both states House of Representatives
has the sole power of impeachment, while the Senate serves as adjudicator. If a majority of the
members of the House vote to impeach, the case proceeds to the Senate for trial. The Senate cannot
impose any punishment on an impeached and convicted office holder other than removal from office.
These two states show multiple similarities in the legislative branch and very few differences.
As anyone can tell the two great states of Illinois and North Carolina have many similarities and
differences in their legislative and executive branches of state government. Overall, one thing is sure
these two states contribute the magnificents of the greatest nation on earth; The United States of

Generosity In Beowulf
Hrothgar Throughout his reign as the ruler of the Geats, Beowulf is a benevolent leader bringing peace
and power to his nation as Hrothgar instructs him to do after the great warrior defeats Grendel s
mother. Hrothgar relates to him as King of the Danes , who brought little joy to the Danish people,
only death and destruction. He tells Beowulf to learn from this and understand true value. Hrothgar
intends that this information can be carried on with Beowulf. Hrothgar was a brave and strong minded
man. Much of these people s respect comes in response to hrothgar s generosity to everyone. This
generosity can be seen towards Beowulf, when the king gives his thanks for the heroic deeds of the
warrior. Hrothgar rewards Beowulf with priceless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was known to be a great warrior and king, but he is still was unable to stop Grendel from killing
his people. Although Hrothgar was a mighty warrior in his day, at the time when the epic story in
Beowulf takes place he is an old king, no longer able to defend his people against the demon Grendel.
But Hrothgar was a savior in the form of Beowulf who is prepared to aid him by defeating the demons
that stalk his land, but will not steal his throne. Even though Hrothgar lacks the strength as a warrior
that would be necessary to bring true security to his people, he practices another custom that does help
maintain his power. Hrothgar generously distributes rewards, including gold, armor, and rings to the
warriors who support him, both Dane and Geat. He can literally buy loyalty, even when he can t force
it in battle. King Hrothgar was not always a gentle lord. He mean seem like it because he does not
fight the monster. Hrothgar first conquered in war, resulting in the acquirement of money and goods.
Then as he aged he became braver and strong minded. He also developed loyalty through friendships,
especially felt at the teary goodbye when Beowulf left. Hrothgar follows the ideal set forth in King
Sheafson in that he was successful at war and then gained loyalty through friendships and

United States Election Project Headed By Dr. Michael...
This past weekend, mid term elections took place nationwide. According to the United States Election
Project headed by Dr. Michael McDonald at University of Florida, with just a voter turnout of 36.4%,
it was the lowest overall turnout since World War II which occurred 70 years ago. Mid term elections
are congressional elections that occur halfway through the president s term. Congressional ballots are
held every two years and all House of Representative seats are contested as well as one third of Senate
seats. Most state legislature and governor elections(about thirty six out of fifty states) occur the same
day(M.D.). These elections have the ability to change the way America is governed. For example, with
the 1994 mid term elections that occurred during President Clinton s reign came a power shift within
the House and the Senate from Democrats to Republicans. This power shift resulted in the reform of
the welfare system. Therefore, it is important for people, especially minorities, to exercise the right to
vote.
In recent history, there has been a reported decrease in voter turnout for both minor and major
elections such as mid term and presidential elections. Some of the causes for this decrease are
inequality, social capital and election day conditions; all of which minorities are subject to. Most of
whom we consider to be regular voters,or those that are sure to vote, are wealthy, older, educated,
white, and church attending people. They are usually more involved in

Reviewing The Topic Of Breast Cancer
The purpose of this proposal is to request approval to continue researching the topic of Breast Cancer.
In this introduction, it will include a problem about the topic and a valid solution in who to solve it. It
also discusses the research and research methods put into this technical report, personal qualifications,
work schedule, and lastly a table in which lists a time schedule in which this report will be completed.
Introduction
Breast cancer has a significant amount of impact on the women, men, and families it effects.Breast
cancer is only made of topic one month a year, that month is October. Although during this time breast
cancer is talked about, many do not know what it actually is nor do people know the damage breast
cancer can have on the body, or what the body goes through. By addressing the problem of awareness
and education society needs on breast cancer, I will be able to give great information and detailed
research to those who seek and are not knowledgeable about breast cancer.
Statement of Problem
Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts in the cells of the breast. A malignant tumor is a group of
cancer cells that can grow into (invade) surrounding tissues or spread (metastasize) to distant areas of
the body (American Cancer Society). Through this About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will
develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime (breastcancer.org). This causes breast
cancer to be the second leading cancer to kill women.

All that Heaven Allows by Douglas Sirk
In the 1950 s the melodrama genre came to age and there is no better example than Douglas Sirk s All
that Heaven Allows. The melodrama followed some basic characteristics which can be identified in
the film. First and foremost the narrative of the melodrama focused on the family. All that Heaven
Allows follows the narrative of the typical melodrama but at the same time also challenges the social
conventions. While Sirk follows many of the key themes he does so in a more detached fashion. The
protagonist Cary is bound to her community by her social class. Change was occurring in society and
the melodrama displayed people s restraint to this. In All that Heaven Allows Sirk began his focus on
the female and her desires in contrast to the more conservative male focused melodrama. As with the
melodrama the legibility of the story, displayed through the plot, is simple and easy to follow. Our
engagement with the story depends on our understanding of the pattern of change and stability, cause
and effect, time and space (Bordwell and Thompson, 2008). The linear time flow of the film allows
for it s simple understanding. This is added to by the expressiveness of the melodrama, where
everything is brought into the open and nothing is left unsaid. The expressiveness of the melodrama is
also represented in the highly expressive mise en scene. Sirks use of colour, the human figure, camera
work, lighting and music allow him to portray suppressed meaning and significance.

Other flaws in big organic are discussed, painting a picture of a feel‐good movement that provides few

flaws in the system, such as the fact that it is as non‐sustainable as typical industrial food production,
but at the same time he seems to argue that it is at least a step in the right direction. Pollan s position
on small organic is much less equivocal. He spends a substantial section of the book detailing his visit
to a small organic grass farm. Although Pollan does his best to maintain a journalistic, neutral view
throughout the book, it is clear that he was captivated by the work being done by the grass farmers.
Pollan shows that the most important crop to these farmers is in fact the numerous varieties of grass,
which form the foundation of the life cycle on the farm. These farmers work to farm in a sustainable,
natural way that closely resembles the symbiosis of nature. In this section, Pollan provides a
fascinating look at the evolved relationships between different species of plants and animals, and how
these relationships can be utilized to create a sustainable farming system. Although Pollan is clearly
enamored with such small grass‐based farming, he also recognizes the near impossibility of
implementing such farming on a large scale. For example, the higher costs

The Clean Energy And Security Act Of 2009
With total vote of 219 to 212, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES), also
known as Waxman Markley Cap and Trade bill ( Waxman Markey), was passed on June 26, 2009 by
the U.S. House of Representatives. The ACES Act contains five main categories. The first one is clean
energy. The second is energy efficiency. The third is reducing global warming pollution. The fourth is
transitioning to a clean energy economy, and the last is agriculture and forestry related offsets. In fact,
Waxman Markey is a comprehensive national climate and energy legislation that would establish an
economy wide, greenhouse gases (GHGs) cap and trade system and critical complementary measures
to help address climate change and build a clean energy economy. Through Waxman Markey, GHGs
emission allowance of organizations will be allocated and auctioned.
Waxman Markey proposes the clean air act to reduce the effects of global warming by setting
economy cap and trade program that control GHG gases emission using 2005 baseline. Every year,
there are more than 25,000 tons per year of GHGs that emitted by large stationary sources emitting
producers like refineries, and importers of all petroleum fuels, natural gas distributors, commercial

Challenges of Development in Sumer and Egypt Essay
An analysis of the two civilizations, Sumer and Egypt reveals one challenge facing human social
development: geography and environmental features tend to shape the patterns of civilizations.
Although the civilization of Sumer was prosperous and powerful, its geographical features ultimately
weakened Sumer, exposing its vulnerability to invasion by neighboring civilizations. Egypt was
similar to Mesopotamian civilizations in many ways, but Egypt s distinct differences led to a
distinguished social systems: government, economic, and religion that contributed to the seemingly
endless prosperity of the Egyptians.
The Sumerians eventually fell to those civilizations that prevailed with more favoring topographic

Military was a strong aspect since Sumer had no known natural barriers. The economy used crops as a
form of money, as well as trade being important since Sumer had little natural resources.
To fully utilize natural resources, the Sumerians created many inventions that lead to evolutionary
advancements with technology. Bronze weapons were replaced with Iron, the invention of the plow
and eventual domestication of animals for agricultural purposes, and the sailboat, which was used as a
mode of transportation for the trade of goods among neighboring civilizations. Among the most
important inventions was the use of simple clay, the foundation of an organized communication
system among the Sumerians made up of symbols, known as cuneiform. The output of knowledge by
the Sumerians, despite harsh geographical circumstances, gave way as an influential role for growth
and development in other civilizations such as Egypt with the invention of hieroglyphics, along the
way.
Similar to Sumer, Egypt was referred to as a river valley civilization. Egypt was divided into two
geographical parts, Upper and Lower Egypt. Lower Egypt was located at the Delta of the Nile River.
This was the location of Egypt s major cities. Upper Egypt contained small populations for rural

The Papacy s Reign Over The Masses
The Papacy s Reign Over the Masses During the Middle Ages, the rise of the Church s influence was
made apparent through the many glaring acts of power that took place. Whether it be a crusade on a
far off land, or a local kingdom challenging the Papacy in ways such as electing their own bishops,
they were a force to be reckoned with. It was in their best interest to control as many people as
possible, working to gain power over the masses. The Papacy persuaded the common people to fear
and support them through expulsion of outsiders, actions in gods will, and prosecution of the evil
people within a society. Non Christians in the community were often ostracized and persecuted for the
benefit of those in power. During one of the Church s many reformations, a solid social border was
created between the Jewish and Muslim people and the Christian community. It was decreed by Pope
Innocent III that Jews and Saracens of both sexes in every Christian province...shall be marked off in
the eyes of the public from other peoples through the character of their dress (Sources, 58). Laws
directed just at these select group of people by the church showed an abundance of power on their
part, preventing outsiders from mixing with the Christians. These laws were developed by the Pope
and his followers during the Fourth Lateran Councils, which took place in order to strengthen the idea
of Christendom, which is a term that explains the times when the Church acts as the state. During

All quadrilaterals do, too, for the same reasons triangles do. Since triangles are essentially half of a
quadrilateral, the angles of a quadrilateral always add up to 360. This means that no matter what sort
you choose rhombus, trapezoid, or just a run of the mill square it will tessellate.
When it comes to the tessellation of pentagons, however, things are not so cut and dry. A regular
pentagon will not tessellate, as each of its angles is 108, and 108 x 5=540, meaning five pentagons
would not be able to join at one point. Four pentagons would also be too large to perfectly meet at a
vertex, as 108 x 4=432, and three pentagons would not be large enough, as 108 x 3=324; close, but no
cigar.
However, there are fifteen types of irregular pentagons that have been found to tile the plane. These
classes of pentagons were discovered at different times, and below is a table containing the formula
for some of them. ∠A E denote an angle, and just simply A E denotes a side. The formulas have
different equalities, with certain angles equalling each other so as to properly make angle amounts that
factor into the 360 needed for tiling, and with different sides being equal or proportional to each other
so as to facilitate the shape being right for

Cost Of Extremism Essay

Extremism is the defense of liberty is no vice; moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue. It is not
ideal to use extremism at any means for defense because it involves violence and danger towards its

Caitlyn Jenner Speech Analysis
Communication is a process that allows us to construct identities based on the interpretation and
intention of speech acts. Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, spent most her life
identified by her master identity as a cis white male and until a few years ago she adopted the
interactional identity of a transgender female. In this paper, I will demonstrate how various forms of
speech acts build, remain and/or change the master and interactional identity of Caitlyn Jenner as well
as her relationships to others. To do so I will explain how Caitlyn Jenner seeks advice from her close
family member Scott Disick to help her understand the variety of speech acts coming from both her
private and public life: ranging from Scott who demonstrate face redress and accept her based on her
new interaction identity as a female, while also dealing with the face threats that come from those
(particularly males) who only see her as her previous master identity as a male. To start, in lines 1 and
4 Caitlyn seeks to understand the perspective that guy s have on her transition, in both lines she draws
out the word guy to emphasize her lack of understanding on how males think. She notes that she s
struggled with it (male s perspective) even though contextually she had the master identity of a male
the majority of her life, she has always struggled with the standards that come with that identity and
that still remains. Therefore, she seeks the perspective of a close male in her family to provide her
with that outlook. In contrast, Scott, who possess the master identity of a male and also accepts it as an
interactional identity chooses to influx and draw out the word me in line 7 in his account that not
every male will be comfortable with her change in identity because while he notes that he is
comfortable with her change in line 24, he also draws out the word every to signify that he is inferring
that male perspectives are not always homogenous and he does this by using an upward intonation of I
to highlight the contrast which is prevalent through his tone change between both words. Additionally,
in line 25, Caitlyn utilizes the example of Kris Humphries tweet that was an indirect face threat about

A Community health center can be defined as a center where high quality primary and preventive
healthcare is provided regardless of the ability of the patient s financial situation. There are some basic
characteristics a community health center must possess to be fully functional. Some of which are:
the population that the health center caters to must be identified as an unserved or underserved one
offering a wide range of health services such as health education, prevention of diseases, treatment
and other social benefits.

Weed Science Project
Project Description:
The project consisted in a quick guide that can be used as an emergency kit for new graduate students
within the Plant Pathology, Physiology, and Weed Science Department. At the beginning of the
program, students tend to become overwhelmed by the information provided through orientations or
paperwork to be done; therefore, they might dedicate less attention to subjects as Ethic, Plagiarism,
Honor Code, etc. In addition, a certain nervousness may arise, as they begin to study or hear about
these concepts, due to the complexity. Things get worse when orientations are missed, because the
information that can help make the transition easier is omitted.
With this guide, I intended to provide a short summary, highlighting topics and tools that students
should focus in the beginning, and this can be to some extent more helpful for those who have been
out of the school for a long time or are coming from a different educational system.
The topics recommended in the project included, Honor Code, Graduate Student Handbook, citation

The Social Psychologist, Henri Tajfel And The Robber s...
In essence, life in and around the medical school plays a significant role in the range of attitudes and
behaviours adopted by the diversity of students checking in and out of the building. With the large
range of societies, interests, and cultures at large it is safe to say that students may identify with one or
two groups and it was the social psychologist, Henri Tajfel [1] who was one of the first to claim an
association between the groups we consort with and the attitudes we display. He explained with his
own experimental evidence in the minimal groups paradigm study of 1979 [2], further supported by
the independent study by Muzafer Sherif in the Robber s Cave experiment of 1954 [3], that we
embrace and endorse, on a sub conscious and sometimes conscious level, the philosophy, work ethic
and more importantly, the temperament of the groups we belong to. Recognising the impact of the
Doctors in Society lectures, SGTs as well as the CBM sessions, it becomes clear to see that the duty of
candour and the weight on building upon values such as compassion, conscientiousness, must be
universally accepted by medical students as fundamental to a prosperous medical career.
Psychologically speaking, certain peer groups may have an impact on the timeliness and application of
these values, for example the one who spends time with charity based societies may find themselves
more capable of demonstrating and appreciating compassion and conscientiousness and so therefore, a

Comparing Dantes Inferno And Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
Dante s Inferno and Chaucer s Canterbury Tales are both tremendously significant literary works that
are still relevant to this present day. Dante s Inferno depicts one pilgrim being led into the depths of
Hell at the hands of a guide named Virgil. As the two descend into Hell, it becomes apparent that
Dante has strong religious opinions that influence his placement of several individuals into the various
levels of Hell. One thing he makes obvious in his works is that hypocrisy and fraudulence are
revolting characteristics. This piece of literature has the tone of darkness and warnings. Because Dante
was exiled from his native country of Florence by people who possessed these characteristics, it only
seems fair that these people have their own special places in Hell. Chaucer s Canterbury Tales,
however, tells many pilgrim s tales as a means to pass time during their voyage to Canterbury. The tale
has a lighter tone to it, yet still has some of the same views and convictions as Dante s; such as the
disapproval of hypocrites and the drawing attention to fraudulent religious figures. Chaucer s tale has
a slightly more entertaining means of delivering a message while ... Show more content on

According to poets. Org, like most Florentines during his lifetime, Dante was affected by the Guelph

On June 11, 1289, he fought in the ranks at the battle of Campaldino on the side of the Guelphs,

Good And Evil In Mccarthy s Blood Meridian
It is evident, even in the first few pages of this novel, that evil plays a huge role in Blood Meridian.
On the first page of this book, McCarthy says ...in him broods already a taste for mindless violence
(3). So right from the start, the kids mind was set on evil, not good. There is a similarity in that
sentence with the Christian faith. Christians believe that from the very start of human life, everyone
has an evil nature. No one is born without sin. The whole reason for needing a Savior is because of
man s evil nature. People will search far and wide for something to make them feel whole. Until they
find Christ, they will not be fully satisfied. This thought can parallel with everything that the Kid has
done. From the start, he had evil intentions in his mind. He searched for someone or something to take
that out upon. He found the judge and Glanton, who assisted him in expressing his feelings (the evil
and hatred) through violence. He latched on to those who carried his same thoughts and began to act

The Use Of Nonverbal Mimicry For A Therapist
The use of nonverbal mimicry will help establish rapport in fact it will increase the amount of
information provided by the client (Abbe Brandon, 2013). There is neurological proof that the brain
will elicit a automatic response if someone is deemed trustworthy changing an individuals feelings,
this is influenced by the way people look and act (Adolphs, 2002). Another factor that influences
rapport for a therapist is knowing the roles of eclecticism and pluralism, a therapist needs to know
which viewpoint is going to be best for a client, Therapist have been using a more eclectic and
integrative approach to therapy as a whole for year. Ggenerally this is a empathic method and empathy
is seen as a important factor in a therapeutic alliance, as proven by neuroscience. empathy helps
expand a patients feelings, thoughts, sensations and possible actions, this is a client and person centred
approach to rapport (Decety Ickes, 2011). However, with a pluralistic approach there are lots of
different ways of doing things, as well as asking the patient what they think. In the end therapist and
patient work together to ascertain what is the best approach in the therapy session, so uses a almost
infinite diversity of approaches to therapy, (Kihlstrom, 2003), this in theory would only increase
rapport. But only potentially work if you had good rapport in the first place. A pluralistic approach

Water Essay
Water quality management in agricultural catchments, generally, appears to focus on identifying and
reducing nutrient losses from the root zone of intensive farming activities. In recent years, reducing
nutrient loss from root zone and minimizing the impact on farming practices of freshwater bodies has
taken centre stage in this debate (Clothier et al., 2007). To fully understand management options of
water this study will explore the vicious cycle of how on the source, the mode of transportation and
the impact on water catchments (Clothier et al., 2007). Transportation process that take place on water

However, the amount of nitrate leached from the root is dependent on how it is transported and
transformed on the subsurface. According to Knowles (1982) dentrification process of nitrates
reduces/attenuate flow of nitrates from root zone to water catchment (rivers and lakes). This finding
were later supported by Rivett el., 2008, where he argued that dentrification process minimizes nitrate
influx from areas of high concentration beneath the water table. This process is catalyst by chemical,
physical and biological feature. In addition nutrients and oxidation of carbon act as catalyst to this
process (Rivett et al., 2008). Research show that Current nitrogen attenuation exertions in New

The Effects Of Digital Distractions On The College Classroom
Digital distractions are affecting the college classroom in many ways. First, let us establish what a
digital distraction is. By definition to be distracted is having one s thoughts or attention drawn away:
unable to concentrate or give attention to something (Distracted). To be digitally distracted is to just
add technology to that. Digital distractions range from texting and driving to checking one s phone
when socializing with other people. These two examples are very noticeable in today s society. People
are being injured and are dying at an alarming rate from compulsively using their smartphones while
driving (Greenfield). People are also losing the social skill required to communicate face to face (The
Negative Impacts of Social Media on Face to Face Interactions). Digital distractions occur continually
in the college setting and affect students in and outside of the classroom. A common, if not the most
common, means of digital distraction is a smartphone. They allow access to the internet and social
media, such as Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. With access to these, students can easily
be distracted from their work in class. When a student is texting, it not only disrupts their learning
experience, but it disrupts others as well. Allowing a student to bring a personal computer into class is
another problem. The student could be working on their class work and taking notes, or they are just
browsing the internet, playing games, checking social media,

Introduction: *demonstrate a sound*
Describe the structure of the ear. The Pinna is a ridged cartilage flap covered by skin. The Meatus is
made up of skin and bone. The Tympanic Membrane, is a concave shaped layer of membrane with the
visual of a flattened cone (AAC). The hammer doesn t really live up to its name, it looks more like a
golf club. The Anvil resembles a snag tooth while the stirrup mirrors its name. The Cochlea is a
membrane covered spiral shaped tube. The Auditory nerve is made up of several tubes ending in
terminals.

Outer Ear: The Pinna gathers sound and sends it down the ear canal. The twists and folds of the pinna
enhance high frequency (pitched) sounds and also help us to determine the direction of the sound
source (AAC). Ear wax is developed by two thirds of the ear s external canal, the remaining is bone.
The Meatus or ear canal is a 2 3 cm of cartilage that strengthens the sound coming in. Middle Ear: The
Tympanic Membrane is hit by sound waves causing the eardrum to vibrate as such then transferring
that energy into mechanical energy. Out of the eardrum and onto three bones, Malleus which is
connected to the drum passing sounds on to the Incus that sits on top of the hammer and collects
vibrations. Ending with the Stapes which is responsible for compression of the waves so they can
travel through the inner ear. The Cochlea is home to many nerve cells that are capable of damaging
and are impossible to grow back. The Cochlea s frequency selectivity refers to the ability of the
auditory system to identify tonal components in complex sound. It largely depends on the filtering
ability of the cochlea and its tuning properties are determine by the amplification mechanisms of the

Justification of American Slavery
How can you justify something that s incredibly wrong? Our founding fathers were face with the same

However, our founding fathers knew that creating this New World(America) need cheap labor and a

The elite of Chesapeake society condoned various forms of servant exploitation in all gradations of
severity. From 1607, the founding of the colony in Virginia, until 1660, Chesapeake masters abused
servants in the course of their work, but only rarely denied them their rights if they reached the end of
their indenture. By 1660, the system took an even more sinister turn. Tobacco planters morphed their
already exploitative system into a new system that shared many parallels with slavery. The planter
elite prevented freedman who had legally completed their indentures from acquiring land, which was

Abstract
The paper focuses on Entrepreneur s Marketing Source (EMS), a workbook idea owned by Brent
Banda. The study analyses the two options available to Brent on which the future of his company
depends. The first option is the strategic alliance with Imagine and the second option is to work on
workbook which will deal with marketing related issues for small and medium size businesses for
example proper advertising and product development. The advantages and disadvantages related to the
options are discussed with a final recommendation based on personal opinion.
Strategic Alliance with Imagine Alternative As stated in the case study, Brent is not a graphic designer,
thus he relies on other local companies to create finished ads and web pages. Recently he was
approached by a design firm he has worked with named Imagine with a business offer. With Imagine
willing to let EMS share a rented office space the client referral promise, the offer seems worthwhile
but it has its own advantages and disadvantages. The first advantage that Brent has with the alliance is
that he will not have to struggle to look for customers for the reason of Imagine being an established
business with a hefty number of loyal customers. Brent will have access to clients much larger than
those he has at present. The second advantage

Twentieth Century And Vatican II Essay
TWENTIETH CENTURY AND VATICAN II The twentieth century was a witness to a new social
organization of the state and the rising of totalitarian regimes, which represented a threat to the
principles of the individual that the Church defended. Popes Pius XI and Pius XII defended the rights
of each person in their statements. These notions signified also a development in the idea of religious
freedom. However, it would be Pope John XXIII and the Second Vatican Council who would affirm
clearly the stance of the Church on this issue. The totalitarian states claimed an ethical state that would
be free from any kind of relationship with religions. Thus, religion became only a private practice in
some European states. Meanwhile, the Catholic Church continued to demand a thesis/hypothesis kind
of relationship with the states, which was in place since the nineteenth century. Herminio Rico S.J.
explains in his book John Paul II and the Legacy of Dignitatis Humanae that the thesis principle was
that the Catholic Church was the true religion and as true religion, only she should be allowed to have
public worship. In addition, the state should have the Church as the official religion and any other
religions should be forbidden of worshiping in public to prevent the faithful to fall in error. Rico goes
ahead to explain that the hypothesis was that exceptions to the thesis should be made in those places
where the public order or severe animosity against the Church interfered with the ideal

Crisis Care Case Study
Crisis Care There can be a misunderstanding on what the role of a pastor should be. The congregation

When tragedy hits the families of the church, it is the pastor that is called up to comfort and bring

John Stuart Mill The Harm Principle Essay

A thin line separates the government s control over the people. However, what is the perfect balance
that regulates a government s control over an individual freedom without infringing on an individual s
natural rights? If this line is crossed, the agency then becomes a limited pursuit, is not achievable due
to the restrictions based on government and society. The most appropriate theory and practice
regarding how to govern is constantly questioned. According to John Stuart Mill s novel On Liberty,

that consent matters for thinking about harm is consistent with Mill s insistence that our conscience is

Conflict Perspective Defined Conflict perspective is seen through the lens of someone who has power

Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which learning occurs;
classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning theory
(Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov s
experiment with the salivating dog (Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning the
dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is rung
even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the result of a
reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements with
compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative reinforcement
involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from continuing. A cognitive
social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through observations, beliefs, expectations,
and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference between cognitive social learning
theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the individual to follow through with a
behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that a change in thinking can ultimately
result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015).

and bodies. The recent success they achieved was due to plastic surgeries they undertook to change
into a completely different person with increased self confidence and self esteem in performing. In the
world we live today, success is often determined by our looks. If that is the case and plastic surgery is
a shortcut to success, who wouldn t take the opportunity? [4]The highly publicized death due to
complications in plastic surgery of mother of hip hop star Kanye West, Donda West, have made people

The members of the Duke Lacrosse team did not have much support from the faculty as the
accusations were the headliners for many major media outlets. The impact of these allegations by the
Duke Lacrosse team was tremendous. The President of the University Richard Brodhead canceled the
entire season and called the situation sickening and repulsive (Jennings, 2009, p. 568). Once again the
support from the highest level at Duke University was not there for the three members of the lacrosse
team at the center of the allegations. The African American accuser Crystal Mangum had support from
the NAACP, Reverend Jesse Jackson, and the Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong. The
coach of the team also resigned from his job as the season was canceled. Mr. Nifong from the
beginning of the investigation seemed to have his mind set on convicting these white males of the
allegations they faced from the accuser. The unethical manner in which Mike Nifong proceeded in the
investigation tested the judicial system. The tactics that were used in the case undermined that you are
innocent until proven guilty. A Duke was facing a crisis little did the judicial system in North Carolina
know that they were about to have their work cut out for them as Mr. Nifong continued his journey to
find these three lacrosse players guilty. According to

Analysis Of Samuel Wallace s Unfinished Business
Unfinished Business
Samuel Wallace was tired of being humiliated and degraded by his boss, Mr. Marin, so one Monday,
Samuel killed him.
Samuel had worked for Mr. Marin for 10 years, and had never once been told thank you. The closest
he ever got was a grunt when the morning coffee he prepared wasn t warm enough or the tax receipts
weren t in two weeks in advance. After months of intolerable lecturing, Samuel decided that on the
10th anniversary of his joining the firm, he would stab his boss.
The plan was simple. Too simple. As if, subconsciously, it had been taking shape for a long time. His
10th anniversary was on a Monday. Fortunately, that was the day that Mr. Marin spent alone in his
office all morning. He played blackjack with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had to keep reminding himself that everything must appear to be normal. With all of his strength,
Samuel tried to force himself to focus on his work. However, he couldn t stop his hands from shaking
as he finalized the details of the Jacobson merger.
Mr. Marin, right on cue, came in at eight and asked Emily, his assistant, to take all of his phone calls
and leave him alone as he would be very busy all morning. As he was entering his office, he turned his
eye to Samuel and sneered, I need to talk to you after lunch. Samuel nodded, noticing the pause in the
surrounding staff, which indicated that they had heard his remark.
At twelve, Samuel packed his briefcase and walked over to the reception, alerting Miranda that he
would be leaving for lunch and would be back at one. Miranda nodded, disinterested. Samuel then
walked to the fire escape, however that day, instead of beginning his descent, he placed his briefcase
in the inside of the door and headed towards Mr. Marin s office. Closing his fist tightly, Samuel raised
his trembling limb and lightly knocked on the wooden office door, one, two, three times. No answer,
but he didn t exactly expect one. Silently, Samuel reached for the metal doorknob, around which he
had carefully wrapped a handkerchief. He wasn t going to leave any fingerprints behind.
Samuel entered the office and locked the door after him. Behind a huge

The great state of Illinois and one of the original state, North Carolina, have set up a state government very similar to the federal government and similar to each other. Their comparisons and contrasts are most noticeable in the legislative and executive branches. There are three main parts of an executive branch; The president, the vice president, and the cabinet. • 5. United States Election Project Headed By Dr. Michael... This past weekend, mid term elections took place nationwide. According to the United States Election Project headed by Dr. Michael McDonald at University of Florida, with just a voter turnout of 36.4%, it was the lowest overall turnout since World War II which occurred 70 years ago. Mid term elections are congressional elections that occur halfway through the president s term. Congressional ballots are held every two years and all House of Representative seats are contested as well as one third of Senate seats. Most state legislature and governor elections(about thirty six out of fifty states) occur the same day(M.D.). These elections have the ability to change the way America is governed. For example, with the 1994 mid term elections that occurred during President Clinton s reign came a power shift within the House and the Senate from Democrats to Republicans. This power shift resulted in the reform of the welfare system. Therefore, it is important for people, especially minorities, to exercise the right to vote. In recent history, there has been a reported decrease in voter turnout for both minor and major elections such as mid term and presidential elections. Some of the causes for this decrease are inequality, social capital and election day conditions; all of which minorities are subject to. Most of whom we consider to be regular voters,or those that are sure to vote, are wealthy, older, educated, white, and church attending people. They are usually more involved in ... • 7. All that Heaven Allows by Douglas Sirk In the 1950 s the melodrama genre came to age and there is no better example than Douglas Sirk s All that Heaven Allows. The melodrama followed some basic characteristics which can be identified in the film. First and foremost the narrative of the melodrama focused on the family. All that Heaven Allows follows the narrative of the typical melodrama but at the same time also challenges the social conventions. While Sirk follows many of the key themes he does so in a more detached fashion. The protagonist Cary is bound to her community by her social class. Change was occurring in society and the melodrama displayed people s restraint to this. In All that Heaven Allows Sirk began his focus on the female and her desires in contrast to the more conservative male focused melodrama. As with the melodrama the legibility of the story, displayed through the plot, is simple and easy to follow. Our engagement with the story depends on our understanding of the pattern of change and stability, cause and effect, time and space (Bordwell and Thompson, 2008). The linear time flow of the film allows for it s simple understanding. This is added to by the expressiveness of the melodrama, where everything is brought into the open and nothing is left unsaid. The expressiveness of the melodrama is also represented in the highly expressive mise en scene. Sirks use of colour, the human figure, camera work, lighting and music allow him to portray suppressed meaning and significance. (b) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He clearly perceives substantial flaws in the system, such as the fact that it is as non‐sustainable as typical industrial food production, but at the same time he seems to argue that it is at least a step in the right direction. Pollan s position on small organic is much less equivocal. He spends a substantial section of the book detailing his visit to a small organic grass farm. Although Pollan does his best to maintain a journalistic, neutral view throughout the book, it is clear that he was captivated by the work being done by the grass farmers. Pollan shows that the most important crop to these farmers is in fact the numerous varieties of grass, which form the foundation of the life cycle on the farm. These farmers work to farm in a sustainable, natural way that closely resembles the symbiosis of nature. In this section, Pollan provides a fascinating look at the evolved relationships between different species of plants and animals, and how these relationships can be utilized to create a sustainable farming system. Although Pollan is clearly enamored with such small grass‐based farming, he also recognizes the near impossibility of implementing such farming on a large scale. For example, the higher costs ... It was in their best interest to control as many people as possible, working to gain power over the masses. This means that no matter what sort you choose rhombus, trapezoid, or just a run of the mill square it will tessellate. When it comes to the tessellation of pentagons, however, things are not so cut and dry. A regular pentagon will not tessellate, as each of its angles is 108, and 108 x 5=540, meaning five pentagons would not be able to join at one point. Four pentagons would also be too large to perfectly meet at a vertex, as 108 x 4=432, and three pentagons would not be large enough, as 108 x 3=324; close, but no cigar. Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, spent most her life identified by her master identity as a cis white male and until a few years ago she adopted the interactional identity of a transgender female. In this paper, I will demonstrate how various forms of speech acts build, remain and/or change the master and interactional identity of Caitlyn Jenner as well as her relationships to others. To do so I will explain how Caitlyn Jenner seeks advice from her close family member Scott Disick to help her understand the variety of speech acts coming from both her private and public life: ranging from Scott who demonstrate face redress and accept her based on her new interaction identity as a female, while also dealing with the face threats that come from those (particularly males) who only see her as her previous master identity as a male. To start, in lines 1 and 4 Caitlyn seeks to understand the perspective that guy s have on her transition, in both lines she draws out the word guy to emphasize her lack of understanding on how males think. She notes that she s struggled with it (male s perspective) even though contextually she had the master identity of a male the majority of her life, she has always struggled with the standards that come with that identity and that still remains. Therefore, she seeks the perspective of a close male in her family to provide her with that outlook. In contrast, Scott, who possess the master identity of a male and also accepts it as an interactional identity chooses to influx and draw out the word me in line 7 in his account that not every male will be comfortable with her change in identity because while he notes that he is comfortable with her change in line 24, he also draws out the word every to signify that he is inferring that male perspectives are not always homogenous and he does this by using an upward intonation of I to highlight the contrast which is prevalent through his tone change between both words. With the large range of societies, interests, and cultures at large it is safe to say that students may identify with one or two groups and it was the social psychologist, Henri Tajfel [1] who was one of the first to claim an association between the groups we consort with and the attitudes we display. Recognising the impact of the Doctors in Society lectures, SGTs as well as the CBM sessions, it becomes clear to see that the duty of candour and the weight on building upon values such as compassion, conscientiousness, must be universally accepted by medical students as fundamental to a prosperous medical career. Comparing Dantes Inferno And Chaucer s Canterbury Tales Dante s Inferno and Chaucer s Canterbury Tales are both tremendously significant literary works that are still relevant to this present day. Dante s Inferno depicts one pilgrim being led into the depths of Hell at the hands of a guide named Virgil. As the two descend into Hell, it becomes apparent that Dante has strong religious opinions that influence his placement of several individuals into the various levels of Hell. One thing he makes obvious in his works is that hypocrisy and fraudulence are revolting characteristics. This piece of literature has the tone of darkness and warnings. Because Dante was exiled from his native country of Florence by people who possessed these characteristics, it only seems fair that these people have their own special places in Hell. Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, however, tells many pilgrim s tales as a means to pass time during their voyage to Canterbury. On the first page of this book, McCarthy says ...in him broods already a taste for mindless violence (3). So right from the start, the kids mind was set on evil, not good. There is a similarity in that sentence with the Christian faith. Christians believe that from the very start of human life, everyone has an evil nature. No one is born without sin. The whole reason for needing a Savior is because of man s evil nature. People will search far and wide for something to make them feel whole. Until they find Christ, they will not be fully satisfied. This thought can parallel with everything that the Kid has done. From the start, he had evil intentions in his mind. He searched for someone or something to take that out upon. The Use Of Nonverbal Mimicry For A Therapist The use of nonverbal mimicry will help establish rapport in fact it will increase the amount of information provided by the client (Abbe Brandon, 2013). There is neurological proof that the brain will elicit a automatic response if someone is deemed trustworthy changing an individuals feelings, this is influenced by the way people look and act (Adolphs, 2002). Another factor that influences rapport for a therapist is knowing the roles of eclecticism and pluralism, a therapist needs to know which viewpoint is going to be best for a client, Therapist have been using a more eclectic and integrative approach to therapy as a whole for year. Ggenerally this is a empathic method and empathy is seen as a important factor in a therapeutic alliance, as proven by neuroscience. empathy helps expand a patients feelings, thoughts, sensations and possible actions, this is a client and person centred approach to rapport (Decety Ickes, 2011). However, with a pluralistic approach there are lots of different ways of doing things, as well as asking the patient what they think. In the end therapist and patient work together to ascertain what is the best approach in the therapy session, so uses a almost infinite diversity of approaches to therapy, (Kihlstrom, 2003), this in theory would only increase rapport. • 28. The Effects Of Digital Distractions On The College Classroom Digital distractions are affecting the college classroom in many ways. First, let us establish what a digital distraction is. By definition to be distracted is having one s thoughts or attention drawn away: unable to concentrate or give attention to something (Distracted). To be digitally distracted is to just add technology to that. Digital distractions range from texting and driving to checking one s phone when socializing with other people. These two examples are very noticeable in today s society. People are being injured and are dying at an alarming rate from compulsively using their smartphones while driving (Greenfield). People are also losing the social skill required to communicate face to face (The Negative Impacts of Social Media on Face to Face Interactions). Digital distractions occur continually in the college setting and affect students in and outside of the classroom. A common, if not the most common, means of digital distraction is a smartphone. They allow access to the internet and social media, such as Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. With access to these, students can easily be distracted from their work in class. When a student is texting, it not only disrupts their learning experience, but it disrupts others as well. Allowing a student to bring a personal computer into class is another problem. Twentieth Century And Vatican II Essay TWENTIETH CENTURY AND VATICAN II The twentieth century was a witness to a new social organization of the state and the rising of totalitarian regimes, which represented a threat to the principles of the individual that the Church defended. Popes Pius XI and Pius XII defended the rights of each person in their statements. These notions signified also a development in the idea of religious freedom. However, it would be Pope John XXIII and the Second Vatican Council who would affirm clearly the stance of the Church on this issue. The totalitarian states claimed an ethical state that would be free from any kind of relationship with religions. Thus, religion became only a private practice in some European states. Meanwhile, the Catholic Church continued to demand a thesis/hypothesis kind of relationship with the states, which was in place since the nineteenth century. Herminio Rico S.J. explains in his book John Paul II and the Legacy of Dignitatis Humanae that the thesis principle was that the Catholic Church was the true religion and as true religion, only she should be allowed to have public worship. In addition, the state should have the Church as the official religion and any other religions should be forbidden of worshiping in public to prevent the faithful to fall in error. This experiment focused on conditioning the dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is rung even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the result of a reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements with compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative reinforcement involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from continuing. A cognitive social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through observations, beliefs, expectations, and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015).
