A Research Study On Spanish Migrants
SUSTO, NERVIOS AND DEPRESION In this paper, I want to discuss susto, nervios and
depression, their definition, and their possible causes. It is especially necessary to learn about
these situation which are common in every person as a result of our humanity. As a future
minister of God s people, I will have to respond to their needs wisely. Moreover, I will describe
some forms of susto, nervios and depression as disorders and, of course, some illnesses that
might be caused by those psychological dysfunctions. Finally, I will attempt to offer some ideas
on how to care for a person who has signs of those feelings and comes to me for help as shepherd.
As I said before, it is very important to have some idea of what susto, nervios, and depression are
like. As I proceed through this paper, it will be shown that those problems affect many people in
America, especially all who were not born in the USA. My research will be focus how Spanish
migrants are affected for each of those feelings as a result of the impact of a new culture and a
new language. It is necessary to keep in mind that, as priests, we are often the first person or
fount to whom people come to looking for help or any advice. Their trust in the minister indicates
that they see him as a sign of hope or solution for their difficult situation. They count on the priest
for wise guidance and, for assurance of God s unconditional love for them. Now, I would like to
describe some symptoms and truths about these disorders,

Gate Control Theory Of Pain
Care of Patients with Pain

Care of Patients with Pain Pain is not just a symptom, but a specific problem that needs to be
treated. Pain is a neurologic response to unpleasant stimuli. What is the gate control theory of pain?
What are the classifications of pain? What are some ways to manage pain?
The Gate Control Theory of Pain
Gate control theory was first described in 1965 by Melzack and Wall. (Gate Control Theory.
2012). The gate control theory recognizes that stimuli other than pain pass through the same
gate. (DeWit, S., Stromberg, H., Dallred, C. 2017, p.124). The gate control theory states that
when the gate is open, pain sensation is allowed through; when the gate is closed, pain is
blocked. (DeWit, S., Stromberg, H., Dallred, C. 2017, p.141). The theory relates to nursing
practice in several ways: two type of nerve fibers small diameter and large diameter carry pain
stimuli, activity in small diameter nerve fibers open the gate, and activity in large diameter closes
it, increase in anxiety open the gate, and decrease in anxiety closes it. Fear that pain will not be
controlled may increase pain intensity, and knowing pain is being controlled reduces pain. (DeWit,
S., Stromberg, H., Dallred, C. 2017, p.124). Pain is a neuromatrix where pain is a multidimensional
experience, which stimuli are influenced by experience, cultural learning, and

The Personal Development Of Nathan s Psychoanalytic Theory
According to Freud s Psychoanalytical theory, the ego serves as a balancing force between the id
and super ego. The healthy development of each of these components relies on having positive
interaction with one s parents throughout the first years of life. If a child grows up in a chaotic
home, it is likely that their development, according to the Psychoanalytic theory, will suffer. Nathan
s upbringing was filled with turbulence and instability as a result of his parents abusive relationship
and mother s mental illness. Freud s theory notes that the id is the first to develop and represents
the impulsive and instinctual portion of the unconscious mind. As the child progresses through
their development, their ego and, subsequently, super... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Erik and Nathan were friends in high school; they played in a garage band together, had frost
tipped hair and grungy plaid pullovers seemingly average boys from the early 90s. Erik s
parents are what Erik described as damned near perfect. His mother seems to fit a type that is
caring, appropriately concerned, and loving of Erik s artistic and post pubescent expressions.
His father is similarly supportive. Erik s mother remembers Nathan as a nice, well behaved kid.
She had mild intuitions around some troubling behavior: in particular, phone calls to his mother
during stay overs that, at times, lasted more than an hour, or his parent s hot and cold feelings
of his being in the band. It seemed to express, to her, helicopter parenting bordering on
problematic. Erik s family responded to what they knew of Nathan s situation with appropriate
concern and action. His mother made attempts to reach out to social services, once aware of
possible ongoing abuse within Nathan s home life. Social services told her his case would most
likely be overlooked, due to his older age. Nathan s mother, according to Nathan, had some very
serious issues in regards to sexual intimacy and boundaries. His father was physically abusive.
During a phone call at Erik s home, Erik had eavesdropped on a conversation between Nathan and
his mother. His

Often times, we are blinded with the illusion on how Canada is a perfect country with no
wrongdoings, when the truth is, we are just as bad as any other country on the topic of racism.
The wrongdoings and crimes against the Japanese Canadians in Canada are one of those
examples. Although we do learn about them briefly in school, Obasan gives a new perspective
on how a Japanese Canadian received this treatment for non Japanese Canadians in their time
and her perspective on it. We learn of her and her family s hardships that they had to face after
the bombing of Pearl Harbour, in one part, one of her aunts even says The American Japanese
were interned as we were in Canada, and sent off to concentration camps, but their property wasn
t liquidated as ours was. and We ve never recovered from the dispersal policy. But of course, that
was the government s whole idea to make sure we d never be visible again. Official racism was
blatant in Canada. The Americans have a Bill of Rights, right? We don t. ( Chapter 7 pg 34)
These quotes strike the readers hard, the once ideal and perfect country that we have thought it
be isn t all that it seems. Canada has done a lot of wrongs to people in its past and still now, and
by reading Obasan, it can help open up your mind and think about the things that still need to be
improved in our country/world and how we cannot allow these things to repeat once more in
history, so with the power that we have as citizens/ people, we should use it to the greatest of our

The Role Of Immigrants In A Summers Reading
From the information we can understand that in the beginning of the 20th century large numbers
of immigrants came to New York City searching for more desirable life for themselves and their
future generations, the American middle class dream. In addition, these people believed that if
they work hard and have faith in themselves, they will be able to achieve a great life full of
satisfaction.
This idea is clearly reflected in A Summers Reading, the story is set in a poor immigrant
neighborhood in New York City. We know the characters are immigrants from their names.

experienced negative, strongly stressful and work related life events displayed poor
psychological wellbeing (Rose et al., 2006). This is true for David because he often begin to

between extraversion and subjective well being, with this relationship tending to be weaker in
women than in men. This means that people who are more of an extravert tend to have a better
well being. In David s case we are unsure if he is either and extrovert or not. Therefore, the fact
that extraversion exerted a stronger effect on subjective well being in men than it did in women
may primarily be because of cultural factors. (Lan, 2015). With most cultures men are looked

Mcdonald s A Fast Food Hamburger Chain
( McDonald s Wordmark ) ( McDonald s Prix ) ( Nos Menus ) By: Austin Gardner 2 1 January
28, 2015 Ms. Chalmers Introduction McDonald s is a multinational fast food hamburger chain.
The company was founded in 1940 by two brothers named Maurice and Richard McDonald (
McDonald s ). McDonald s currently has over 35,000 restaurants and serve over 68 million
customers a day on average ( History of ). The fast food giant makes 28 billion dollars annually,
and are the largest fast food chain in the world ( McDonald s ). That calculates to 75 million
dollars a day, which is unreal. This paper will examine the working conditions of the employees.
( McDonald s Across the World ) History In 1937 Richard and Maurice s father decided to open a
food stand as a hobby ( History of ). Orange juice and hamburgers were sold below market price (
History of ) In fact, burgers were originally sold for only 15 cents (Gilbert, 8). After three years,
the two brothers realized that their father s business was actually very profitable. Richard and
Maurice decided to lease a building and open up a drive in restaurant, to make larger production
possible; they named it McDonald s Bar B Q and the soon to be fast food giant had begun (

The Equal Opportunity Within A Work Place, The Pregnancy...
Introduction
Before we dive into this topic of human resources, let s define it. Human Resource can be defined
as the division of the company that is focused on activities relating to employees. These activities
normally include recruiting and hiring new employees, orientation and training current employees,
employee benefits, and retention. Throughout this paper I will discuss the Equal Opportunity
within a work place, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Privacy Polices within a work place, and
Sexual Harassment within a workplace.
Equal Opportunity Laws
Title VII
The first aspect of Human Resource that will be addressed is equal opportunity and the laws
that provide for it. There were several equal opportunity laws enacted from 1964 to 1991. The
first of these was Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which states that an employer cannot
discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national original with respect to
employment (Dessler, 2013). Title VII applies to employers with 15 or more employees, including
state and local governments. It also applies to employment agencies and to labor organizations, as
well as to the federal government.
Title VII also prohibits employment decisions based on stereotypes and assumptions about abilities,
traits, or the performance of individuals of certain racial groups. According to Society for Human
Resource Management, it states that, possible criminal practices include soliciting applications only

Physiology Individual body functions with the nervous system. The nervous system is divided into
two parts, central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system
consists of brain and spinal cord whiles the peripheral nervous system consists of the nerves, such
as cranial nerves. Cranial nerves job is to connect the central nervous system to the different types
of organ in the body. Our neurons consist of cell body which holds the genetic information needed
to make protein. Dendrites receive impulses from other cells at the synapses and transmitted them
to the cell body. Axon carries outgoing information to its target cell. Neuronhas only one axon that
includes Axon Hillock. Axon Hillock is the originate place for action potential; Axon collaterals are
the branches of axon; Axon terminals which are the sites of neurotransmitter release. The body
neuron usually generates an electrical signal and this result in the release of neurotransmitter. The
neurotransmitter purpose is to serve as a chemical messenger that enables cell communication
among other cells. Myelin sheath is insulation that wraps around the each axon for about 20 to 200
times. Their segments are significantly separated from each other by node of Ranvier, and the
Myelin sheath function to increase the conduction velocity of action potentials. Myelin can be

A New Energy Efficient Drives Using Permanent Magnet...
Nowadays, because of the fast evolution of electronic device, The recent developments in
permanent magnet materials, solid state devices and microelectronic have led to the appearance of
a new energy efficient drives using permanent magnet brushless direct current motors
(PMBLDCM). Brushless direct current (BLDC) motors are preferred as small horsepower control
motors because their efficiency is very high, the operation is in a silent mode, has a compact form,
contains high precision, low maintenance, Its structure is simple, and has a large torque, etc. Hence,
it is extensively used in national defense, aerospace, robotics, industrial process control, precision
machine tools, automotive electronics, household appliances and office automation [1]. However,
the problems are found in these motor for variable speed operation over last decades keeping
technology growth in power semiconductors, microprocessors, adjustable speed drivers control
schemes and permanent magnet brushless electric motor production have been joined to enable
reliable, cost effective solution for a wide area of adjustable speed applications. As the name
reveals, Brushless motors have no brushes and commutators. In direct current (brushed) motors, the
switching of current in coils of the armature is done using the combination of brushes and
commutators but in the brushless, the commutation process is achieved with the help of electronic
circuit, which diminishes the mechanic losses and the efficiency

Analysis Of The Chrysanthemums By John Steinbeck
When I was young I heard red chrysanthemums symbolize love and deep warmth. And Yellow
chrysanthemums symbolize neglected love or sadness. Thus, I picked the story the
chrysanthemums which was composed by John SteinbeckгЂ‚ The story is recited from a third
person; we are confident that we are sharing with a narrator, who is far away from the character s
feelings and emotions. Likewise, the story focuses on Elisa. It allows us omniscient access into
Elisa s thoughts, but for the most part, it does not draw her thoughts. This point of view is
necessary to the story because it is clearly showing us that men around the twenties disregard a lot
of beautiful and intelligent women like Elisa.
When Elisa is watching her husband with two other men studied the machine, the narrator
describes the Elisa s outfit for us, Her figure was blocked and heavy in her gardening costume, a
man s black hat pulled low down over her eyes, clodhopper shoes, a figured print dress almost
completely covered by a big corduroy apron. In general, Elisa does not dress like a housewife ,
as a woman who has a business husband, she is supposed to put on a pretty dress, not being
unobtrusive of her beauty, rising child at home... However, Elisa would rather hold out like men
than wearing fancy dresses as a wealthy lady. Therefore, she is not exactly a girly girl. Straight
away, we know she s a character who will challenge the traditional ideas of femininity. Then in the
back to the story, after Elisa s gave the chrysanthemums to the tinker, she wears a beautiful dress,
and then her husband reacts surprise ... I mean you look different, strong and happy. Before when
she wears like a man he does not think Elisa is strong, even the chrysanthemum stems seemed too
small and easy for her energy , And from his response, he doesn t appreciate her beauty and her
strength that much. Maybe he never pays any attention to her. Henry saw Elisa is doing
something in the garden; he came near to her and observes, ... I wish you d work out in the
orchard and raise some apples that big. Her eyes sharpened. Maybe I could do it, too. I ve a gift
with things all right... Well it sure works with flowers, he said. This conversation between Henry

Gender And Sexuality As A Category For Historical Analysis
For years, many scholars have provided many discussions over the topic of gender and sexuality.
However, one needs to ask themselves: Are these two topics, gender and sexuality, useful as a
category for historical analysis? The articles written by both Joan W. Scott and Afsaneh
Najmabadi, answer such a question. By critically examining and assessing their two article, can the
usefulness of gender and sexuality as a category for historical analysis be proven.
In Gender: A Useful Category of Historical Analysis, Joan W. Scott provides many angles to
explore the relevancy of gender. The first thing that needs to be examined is her argument. The main
argument that Joan W. Scott is trying to make is how beneficial to history using gender as a
category for analysis would turn out. Another factor that needs to be made in assessing her article
is how she presents her argument and findings. Scott formats her article with a beginning, middle,
and end. She begins by defining gender, and how that term has been used in general. She goes on
to describe some of the theories that have analyzed gender. The next part that she explains is how,
of late, politics has been coincided with the analysis of gender. Finally, she ends her paper by
providing her bottom line opinion about the analysis and approach of gender.
Now with the structure of her paper in mind, the next important assessment is in the sources she
uses. The sources that Joan Scott utilizes in her argument are mostly

Climate Change Causes
Abstract
Climate change in today s world has become of great concern due to its effects in the environment.
Globally, climate change has greatly influenced ecosystems and the existence of organisms. This is
further extending its effects to regional areas such as Kenya, whose ecosystem is not spared by the
changing climate. Despite having natural causes, anthropogenic factors are widely increasing and
causing climate change undisputed. Therefore, human activities are the main contributors of
climate change leading to stress and ecosystem strain, to continue providing for its services. In this
report I discuss summary of global climate change and regional focus on causes of climate change
in Kenya, its effects in ecosystem especially on the natural ecosystems, current measures to curb the
effects and the perception of the future ecosystem of the country.
Introduction
Climate change is defined as a change of climate that is attributed directly or indirectly to human
activity that alters the composition of the global atmosphere and that is in addition to natural
climate variability observed over comparable time periods (UNFCC, 1992). (source(GoK, 2012).
Which is understood as the average change in weather patterns over a long period of time, caused
by both human activities and natural factors, such as deforestation from increasing human
population and activities, industrialization, urbanization, volcanic eruptions, and much more

Essay On The Berlin Wall
On November 9, 1989; an event occurred that changed the county as a whole; the Berlin Wall fell.
This significant event represented the end of communism in Germany. The German Democratic
Republic (GDR) reunited with the Federal Republic of Germany on October 3, 1990; one year
after the Wall fell. When the Berlin Wall
fell, both East and West Berlinbecame physically reunified.
There was no longer a wall standing in between the two sides and from here on out, two cities
became one once again. This was a physically reconnection of two sides of East and West Berlin
and the beginning of the loss of identity for those had previously lived in East Berlin(Leventhal).
Kubicek believes that due to many years that East and West Germany were divided that the
people of each side developed differently and had different values. Each side had created it s own
educational system, government and political and views. Kubicek quoted one writer, It will
take us longer to tear down the wall in our heads.... (17). This also applied to those living in East
and West Berlin. East Berliners also viewed those living in West Berlin as boastful, aggressive
and insensitive (Leventhal). They felt unwelcomed and the other half of the city felt very
different to them. West Berliners viewed their side of the city as being less safe and now too
crowded and those from East Berlin were known as the poorer people. City services were
duplicated and in the East side were either closed or lost. Examples

American Citizen Failure
Throughout the history of the world we as humans have constantly shown that we are a

This is an outrage to all residents of the world who may or may not be caught in the crossfire and
furthermore readily shows our government has drastically failed us in its sole duty to protect the
people. Thomas Jefferson once said, The care of human life and happiness, and not their

We have tried doing so through diplomatic means, embargos, treaties, and alliances. Without a
constant mindset from congress and the President of the United States we cannot fully accomplish
this task because it takes persistence and undying resolve to complete this mission. Recently we
have reached a diplomatic treaty with Iran to prevent them from attaining anymore nuclear
technology. (White House, 2016) This is a superb example at what can be accomplished without
condemning young men, young women, and civilians to die in war.
Changing the mindset of our current Senate men and women will be almost impossible to do, so I
propose changing the education in our schools to put forth a new generation of young men and
women who understand all aspects of war and will choose diplomacy over armed conflict. While
also being aware that countless lives are at risk that involves not only our country but the

The Prevalence Of Parkinson s Disease
Individuals worldwide are affected by Parkinson s disease. Parkinson s is a chronic disorder
with onset of symptoms occurring at a mean age of 60 years. The prevalence of Parkinson s
increases with age and may affect up to 5% of individuals over 79 years old. (Tosin, Campos,
Andrade, Oliveira, Santana, 2015). Those affected by the disease, experience impairments in
movement, balance, and have difficulty performing everyday life tasks. Due to posture deficits and
gait dysfunction, patients with Parkinson s have an increased risk of falling which may lead to
secondary health problems. Although exercise programs have been implemented to decrease falls,
few programs are proven successful. (Li, Harmer, Fitzgerald, Eckstrom, Stock, Galver, Maddalozzo,
Batya, 2012). In order to find an effective program in decreasing falls, nurses are performing various
rehabilitation interventions that focus on improving postural stability. Two examples of
interventions include QiGong and Tai Chi. Qi Gong is a mindful exercise that effects neuroplasticity
in the brain and can have an effect on the postural instability that Parkinson s patients experience

successful with maintaining objectivity while writing the story, the novel seemed to be a pro

was at the forefront of it all. Steinbeck highlights his character and humanity. He s not made to be
necessarily perfect, however his intentions are not ruinous. I was watching the riot squad come in

As a reader, one may feel that Jim Nolan would be associated with the sacrifice and solicitude
that he is in the book. Thus, this would show Steinbeck s sympathies for strikers (or of Jim, in

seen for the most part from the perspective of the strikers. Steinbeck writes in the sense of the
organized power of the Torgas valley and the owners exploitative nature. Likewise, he creates the
unpleasant plight of the laborers and empathized with their dignity that is lost the society that is
depicted by Steinbeck as one where a few men hold major power whilst the workers have little,

most of the crop tramps were already there. They spent most of their money getting there, of course.

Theories Of Criminality And Delinquency
Crime has been around since the creation of man, and specifically, since the fall of humanity in
biblical times. Since then, people have been trying to explain what causes an individual to commit
a crime. Although the Bible explicitly confirms the origin of crime is the sinful nature of man,
many have argued as to the cause of criminality. During the eighteenth century, the argument for
criminality and delinquency was the fall of man, as the Book of Genesis explains, after Eve ate
from the forbidden tree, in Chapter 3. The first criminal act follows the fall of man, in Genesis 4:8
(NIV) where Now Cain said to his brother Abel, Let s go out to the field. While they were in the
field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Since then, human beings have committed
atrocities against other human beings, and continue to commit acts of violence against others to...

Moore starts with the definition of criminology and then proceeds to discuss five categories of
psychological theories related to understanding criminality and delinquency (Moore, 2011). The
methods used by Moore include a database search using keywords, and consultation with an expert
in the field. The problem with the method Moore used is the limited categories of psychological
theories in her article. Since there are so many different theories attempting to explain criminality
and delinquency, Moore excluded those theories addressing crime and delinquency from a
sociological perspective, and focused on the psychological theories because the psychological
theories tend to address crime and delinquency at the individual level, primarily identifying
individual differences that lead to criminal behavior (Moore, 2011, p. 228). The psychological
theories Moore discusses are Learning Theories, Intelligence Theories, Personality Trait Theories,

Violence In The Virgin Suicides In The Virgin Suicides
From this analysis and definition of witchcraft and its relation to the player, gossip, one can see
how violence may erupt from such cases of witch accusations. Gossip, as an active player in witch
hunts and trials can [...] outrun the intentions of [its] creators, producing more violence than is
anticipated (Stewart and Strathern 193). Such unanticipated growth within gossip is the result of,
as Hurston writes in Their eyes were watchingGod, words walking without masters (2). One can
relate words walking without masters as violence walking without masters. In the way that words,
gossip, and rumor can snowball, to a certain degree, violence can as well. After misfortunes, most
often deaths, within a community, people attribute misfortune to witches and kill them in order to
set matters right (Stewart and Strathern 193). Therefore, we see that violence is retribution in witch

Case Study Of Oak Hills
Based on the report and case study of Oak Hills facility, it is a fact that the processes and
operations require a massive overhaul if it wants to remain competitive and improve its efficiency
as a manufacturing business. Lean manufacturing might be able to solve some of its issue in terms
of its process in production. Below are some of the recommendations that Oak Hills should look
into.
i.Adopting Supply Chain practise
The management of Oak Hills should look into the supply chain management to improve its
efficiency in its production process. This could boost the inventory control and organization
performance. This can also be done through aligning the supply chain to maximise its
effectiveness. A best practice is a process that produces the best benchmark for a specific task
(Gilmore, 2007). Establishing alliances with key suppliers creates a supplier relationship
management which will be more effective in working together. This can be effective if Oak Hills

The implementation of technology will be essential in ensuring that Oak Hills achieves the lean
manufacturing. Among various tools for performing Lean manufacturing assessments, technology
has remarkably allowed the obtaining of world class function as well as recovering job function

Cons of Implementing Lean System
The cons of implementing this system are mainly the involvement of monetary expenses. It will
also include work disruptions during the process of training and educating the employees. As the
rumours of merger are still in the process, there may be issues revolving the costs associated with
the revamping of the operations in Oak Hills. Things like introducing new equipment capabilities,
re current trainings and re design layout of floorplan will increase the expenses of Oak Hills
facility. iii. Introducing re engineering

The Consequences Of The Oscar Pistorius Trial
The Oscar Pistorius Trial Everyone is prone to making errors of expression and perspective in our
everyday lives. However, at times these mistakes can be more costly. One such case is the Pistorius
trial, where Oscar Pistorius committed the errors of contradiction, appeal to emotion, and
unwarranted assumptions. In addition, his lawyer Barry Roux also committed the fallacyof appealto
emotions to completely mitigate his client of any responsibly. Moreover, the Judge Masipa in this
case committed the error of unwarranted assumption by over sympathizing with Oscar Pistorius,
which lead to the sentencing he received. Therefore, one need to think critically about the
consequences of this actions. According to the BBC News Mr. Pistorius claimed in the trial, that
on February 14, 2013 he accidently killed his girlfriend. In the trial BBC news reported that Mr.
Pistorius and his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp had dinner at 7:00 p.m. Then, they went to sleep
around 9:00 or 10:00. p.m. Sometime, in the early morning hours his girlfriend had woken up and
asked him, if he was having trouble sleeping. Mr. Pistorius indicated that he had trouble sleeping
and went to get some fans from the balcony. Upon reentering he heard noise coming from the
bathroom and he thought that someone was trying to break into their home. Furthermore, this is
when Mr. Pistorius said he called to his girlfriend to get out and call the police. Then, he reached

Winslow Homer s Impact On Society
Winslow Homer is regarded by many as the greatest American painter of the nineteenth century
whose mastery in direct observation of his subject matter was considered the most powerful and
expressive during his time. Born in Boston and largely self taught, Homer began his career as an
illustrator. Perhaps no other American artist during this time was as accomplished in diverse
mediums, such as lithography, engraving, oil painting, and watercolors. Early in his career he was
recognized for his artistic talents, and his fondness for narrative and drama that led to
employment with Harper s Weekly. He was a careful observer of visual realism, and he paid
attention to the purely physical properties of pigment and color, of line and form and the patterns...

Place in Wide Sargasso Sea seems to be used to convey Antoinette s frame of mind at different

the theme of rejected womanhood is utilized symbolically in order to make an artistic statement

This suggests that this is a dangerous place for them to be in, and that, like Eden, the garden is a
symbol of corrupted innocence. This gives the reader a hint of what is coming. Rhys sets a tone of
eerie silence in this West
Indian landscape.
She uses many of her senses to describe the garden, which was
wonderful to see and smelt very sweet and strong . She conveys every aspect of the garden in a
very powerful manner, which in turn conveys the wildness of it. This effect is heightened by the
animal imagery used to describe the thin brown tentacles of the orchids.
The garden can no longer be controlled: it has given itself over to wildness and savage
overgrowth. This parallels with the fact that the black people can no longer be controlled by the
white people.
Therefore, some may interpret the garden as a symbol of the deterioration of the social hierarchy
of the time. The natural surroundings are often used as symbols in this novel. The first time that
she has her recurring dream, she is in the forest with someone who hated her. This forest is clearly
symbolic of her isolation and the danger that she feels she is in, living in Coulibri.
Antoinette seems particularly preoccupied with morbidity and decay

However, this amalgamation of ideas did not come without its difficulties. A physicist named

they created the Homebrew Computer Club where they started working towards their goal of
creating a personal computer (historychannnel). Hobbyist and bright minds would share and

cooperate and help each other s ideas grow. It is possible to business ventures to share
information that benefit every participant and the Silicon Valley serves as an example. There
were many other places where people tried to create computers but they were not as successful
as the Valley. Besides being willing to attract brilliant minds and sharing information the leaders
of the Valley were also not afraid to fail. They would try out very idea see where it failed and try
once more. I hope to incorporate this trait in our group project. Homebrew eventually lead to the
creation of Hewlett Packard and Steve Job s Apple computers.
The most important factor towards the creation of a personal computer was the environment.
Terman might have foreseen that setting an industrial park would take businesses closer to Stanford

leaders like Terman who encouraged working together and sharing of ideas was also vital. Lastly

Essay On Blackfeet Culture
The confluence of Native American and white culture resulted in a myriad of social, political, and
cultural changes that dramatically altered the daily lives of the Blackfeet nation. Many of these
changes benefited the lives of the Blackfeet; however the vast majority of these cultural collisions
resulted in the decay and decline of the Blackfeet way of life. Consequently, these changes not only
impacted the Native Americans, but it also resulted in the near mass extinction of the Buffalo as
well as other detrimental impacts upon the environment. The primary aspect of this relationship,
between the Blackfeet, and whites, was a system trade dependency. According to Fools Crow, The
women traded for cloth, beads, paints, white man s powder for cooking, kettles, and pans. And the
men acquired half axes, files, hoop iron, tobacco, ammunition and guns. (FC, 98) By introducing
these trade goods to the Native Americans, the whites were slowly establishing not only a trade
relationship, but also a system of dependency. Despite the fact that these trade goods greatly
improved the quality of life for many Native Americans; it initiated the gradual decline of many

Metaphors which are creative linguistic images of the objects, taken from the environment, are the
integral part of any literary work. The nature of metaphor is considered in not only the linguistic,
but also philosophical and psychological contexts. The main idea of this essay is to compare and
contrast Friedrich Nietzsche and Northrop Frye`s treatment towards metaphor, which is described
by both authors as a part of cognitive processes. The article On Truth and Lies in Nonmoral Sense

The Military Tactics And Organized Governance Ensured The...
The effective combination of brutal military tactics and organized governance ensured the success
of the Mongol Empire. This was possible due to the skills gained under their pastoral nomadic
political structure. Their success was further fuelled by their motivation for world domination
stemming from their worldview and values. Their ruthless military practices were efficient in
conquering Eurasia, and the political changes made to these nations ensured continual rule. The
rapid usurpation of territory impacted Eurasia through opening trade and communication. Although
the Mongol Empire was short lived, these means ensured a rule that was total and unrivalled.

Resources were scarce in the fields of Central Asia, which necessitated these practices. The tribes
were unified under Genghis Khan, who stated that a man s greatest pleasure is to defeat his
enemies, to drive them before him, to take from them that which they possessed, to see those whom
they cherished in tears, to ride their horses, to hold their wives and daughters in his arms . This
identifies the Mongol value of possession and highlights their superiority complex. This complex
served as the primary motivation in conquering territory. Sources such as the Novgorod Chronicle
imply that their conquest was driven by a thirst for blood, however the absence of torture in their
warfare apart from especially grievant circumstances indicates cold efficiency. Additionally, this
chronicle is highly emotive and religious, which has caused exaggeration.
It is difficult to fully interpret the motivations of the Mongols or their perspective of foreigners
due to the lack of Mongol written sources. This is because of the late formation of a written
Mongol language. Therefore, the accounts of foreigners are invaluable to the investigation of the
Mongols. One of these accounts is from William of Rubruck, who was sent by King Louis IX of
France to unofficially observe the Mongols in 1254. He wrote an extensive report, including

Absolutely no software cost:
Computer requires both the hardware and software for its smooth functioning. The computer
software costs more than the hardware, therefore, many users have been deprived of buying it.
Instead, they resort to use the illegal version of the software. This does not give them any legal right
to own, distribute or use the product in the open environment.
2. No virus attacks:
We often complain of many viruses on our computer, this causes the computer to be formatted at
least once a month. Besides this, we are constantly targeted by the spammers. This is primarily due
to, the 90% of the computer users highly depend on the commercial softwares for their daily

Thus, there will always be a less scope for hackers for targeting the open source applications.
Let us take an example from Microsoft, every one of us uses the Windows as our preferred

about the problems with our illegal versions of Windows. During such occasions, we can neither

Boo Radley Qualities
Scout lives in a neighborhood where everyone s opinions, how they act and their appearances
labels them. This is shown partly through chapters 4 6 of To Kill A Mockingbird. One day, as
Scout is returning from school alone, she notices two pieces of gum in the knothole of a tree on
the Radley s lawn. She takes it, but Jem rebukes her for doing so. On the last day of school, they
discover two coins in the same knothole and choose to keep it. The children and even the
neighborhood labels Boo Radley as a monster just because he doesn t adhere to Maycomb s
orthodox lifestyle. Rather, he stays inside his house. Hence, the neighborhood has a lot of myths
about him which Scout and Jem obviously believe considering they re still children. This is why
when Scout eats the chewing gum Jem ordered Scout to spit it out; it came from the Radley place...

As they continue to play their games Scout describes Jem as a born hero (page 52) because Jem
reassured Scout that she is safe because Boo Radley is dead. Moreover, Jem showed some
leadership qualities while they were performing their play about Boo Radley. She sees him as a
hero because he isn t showing fear about Boo Radley. Jem is also seen as courageous for doing
something that Atticus wouldn t approve of; playing games which mocks Boo Radley. However,
at one point Atticus is suspicious and asks if their sketches are about Boo, which Jem denies.
Scout is sure Atticus knows exactly what they re doing so this prevents them from continuing
their games. Jem reassured her that he only has doubts and says that girls always [imagine] things
(page 54). He also added that if she kept acting like a girl, then he wouldn t want to play with her
anymore. The fact that Jem is using that as an insult is labeling girls

Nero And Roman Architecture
The monumental tragedy of burning ancient Rome, known as the Great Fire of Rome, was
noteworthy in history although, it has crucial details that still confuse us. According to Tacitus, a
roman historian, wrote in The Annals (around year 116) that an urban fire broke out in the
merchant area of the city of Romeon the night between 18 and 19 July in the year 64 AD. The fire
widespread devastation consumed all in its path for six days and seven nights, leaving almost
seventy percent of the city in ruins. Only four of the fourteen districts of Rome were saved from the
fire. Three districts were totally destroyed. The remaining seven were significantly affected. For
years, many historians including Tacitus stated that Nero, the ruler of the time,... Show more content

And this was an influential theme during his ruling years. He had this urge to live through art.
Nero did not like the aesthetics of the city. This is the reason why he wanted to build a new city,
with new artistically designed buildings. This was important for him. He consider himself an
artistic. When he was attempting suicide, he grieved for the people s loss even more than his
own loss of life. His final words indicate this when he said, Qualis artifex pereo! or, What an
artisan I am in my dying (Suetonius, Nero 49.1).Evidence showed that the new Rome that Nero
built, exhibited the high artistic goals that characterized his artistic mind. History recalls that his
palace was named the Domus Aurea, meaning that it was almost completely overlaid with gold.
He designed a new palace for himself, more sumptuous and expansive than any Roman structure
built before. Another example is a large area, close to where the fire started, between Portico of
Livia to the Circus Maximus, which the emperor turned into beautiful gardens that included an
artificial lake in the center. A temple that was constructed to deified Claudious, was demolished
because it was completed and more importantly in was in the way of Nero s design plan. Art
critics agree that this style revolutioned architecture and was an inspiration to Leonardo DaVinci
and even Michaelangelo. This is clearly supporting the fact that the Nero s distorted mind schemed
a plan to construct all these places. He needed the foundation, he needed a new Rome, he decided
to burn the old

  • 2. A Research Study On Spanish Migrants SUSTO, NERVIOS AND DEPRESION In this paper, I want to discuss susto, nervios and depression, their definition, and their possible causes. It is especially necessary to learn about these situation which are common in every person as a result of our humanity. As a future minister of God s people, I will have to respond to their needs wisely. Moreover, I will describe some forms of susto, nervios and depression as disorders and, of course, some illnesses that might be caused by those psychological dysfunctions. Finally, I will attempt to offer some ideas on how to care for a person who has signs of those feelings and comes to me for help as shepherd. As I said before, it is very important to have some idea of what susto, nervios, and depression are like. As I proceed through this paper, it will be shown that those problems affect many people in America, especially all who were not born in the USA. My research will be focus how Spanish migrants are affected for each of those feelings as a result of the impact of a new culture and a new language. It is necessary to keep in mind that, as priests, we are often the first person or fount to whom people come to looking for help or any advice. Their trust in the minister indicates that they see him as a sign of hope or solution for their difficult situation. They count on the priest for wise guidance and, for assurance of God s unconditional love for them. Now, I would like to describe some symptoms and truths about these disorders, ... The Gate Control Theory of Pain Gate control theory was first described in 1965 by Melzack and Wall. (Gate Control Theory. 2012). The gate control theory recognizes that stimuli other than pain pass through the same gate. (DeWit, S., Stromberg, H., Dallred, C. 2017, p.124). The gate control theory states that when the gate is open, pain sensation is allowed through; when the gate is closed, pain is blocked. (DeWit, S., Stromberg, H., Dallred, C. 2017, p.141). The theory relates to nursing practice in several ways: two type of nerve fibers small diameter and large diameter carry pain stimuli, activity in small diameter nerve fibers open the gate, and activity in large diameter closes it, increase in anxiety open the gate, and decrease in anxiety closes it. Fear that pain will not be controlled may increase pain intensity, and knowing pain is being controlled reduces pain. (DeWit, S., Stromberg, H., Dallred, C. 2017, p.124). Pain is a neuromatrix where pain is a multidimensional experience, which stimuli are influenced by experience, cultural learning, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The healthy development of each of these components relies on having positive interaction with one s parents throughout the first years of life. If a child grows up in a chaotic home, it is likely that their development, according to the Psychoanalytic theory, will suffer. Nathan s upbringing was filled with turbulence and instability as a result of his parents abusive relationship and mother s mental illness. Freud s theory notes that the id is the first to develop and represents the impulsive and instinctual portion of the unconscious mind. She had mild intuitions around some troubling behavior: in particular, phone calls to his mother during stay overs that, at times, lasted more than an hour, or his parent s hot and cold feelings of his being in the band. It seemed to express, to her, helicopter parenting bordering on problematic. Erik s family responded to what they knew of Nathan s situation with appropriate concern and action. His mother made attempts to reach out to social services, once aware of possible ongoing abuse within Nathan s home life. Often times, we are blinded with the illusion on how Canada is a perfect country with no wrongdoings, when the truth is, we are just as bad as any other country on the topic of racism. The wrongdoings and crimes against the Japanese Canadians in Canada are one of those examples. Although we do learn about them briefly in school, Obasan gives a new perspective on how a Japanese Canadian received this treatment for non Japanese Canadians in their time and her perspective on it. We learn of her and her family s hardships that they had to face after the bombing of Pearl Harbour, in one part, one of her aunts even says The American Japanese were interned as we were in Canada, and sent off to concentration camps, but their property wasn t liquidated as ours was. and We ve never recovered from the dispersal policy. • 13. Analysis Of The Chrysanthemums By John Steinbeck When I was young I heard red chrysanthemums symbolize love and deep warmth. And Yellow chrysanthemums symbolize neglected love or sadness. Thus, I picked the story the chrysanthemums which was composed by John SteinbeckгЂ‚ The story is recited from a third person; we are confident that we are sharing with a narrator, who is far away from the character s feelings and emotions. Likewise, the story focuses on Elisa. It allows us omniscient access into Elisa s thoughts, but for the most part, it does not draw her thoughts. This point of view is necessary to the story because it is clearly showing us that men around the twenties disregard a lot of beautiful and intelligent women like Elisa. When Elisa is watching her husband with two other men studied the machine, the narrator describes the Elisa s outfit for us, Her figure was blocked and heavy in her gardening costume, a man s black hat pulled low down over her eyes, clodhopper shoes, a figured print dress almost completely covered by a big corduroy apron. In general, Elisa does not dress like a housewife , as a woman who has a business husband, she is supposed to put on a pretty dress, not being unobtrusive of her beauty, rising child at home... However, Elisa would rather hold out like men than wearing fancy dresses as a wealthy lady. Therefore, she is not exactly a girly girl. Straight away, we know she s a character who will challenge the traditional ideas of femininity. Then in the back to the story, after Elisa s gave the chrysanthemums to the tinker, she wears a beautiful dress, and then her husband reacts surprise ... I mean you look different, strong and happy. Before when she wears like a man he does not think Elisa is strong, even the chrysanthemum stems seemed too small and easy for her energy , And from his response, he doesn t appreciate her beauty and her strength that much. Maybe he never pays any attention to her. Henry saw Elisa is doing something in the garden; he came near to her and observes, ... I wish you d work out in the orchard and raise some apples that big. • 14. Gender And Sexuality As A Category For Historical Analysis For years, many scholars have provided many discussions over the topic of gender and sexuality. However, one needs to ask themselves: Are these two topics, gender and sexuality, useful as a category for historical analysis? The articles written by both Joan W. Scott and Afsaneh Najmabadi, answer such a question. By critically examining and assessing their two article, can the usefulness of gender and sexuality as a category for historical analysis be proven. In Gender: A Useful Category of Historical Analysis, Joan W. Scott provides many angles to explore the relevancy of gender. The first thing that needs to be examined is her argument. The main argument that Joan W. Scott is trying to make is how beneficial to history using gender as a category for analysis would turn out. Another factor that needs to be made in assessing her article is how she presents her argument and findings. Scott formats her article with a beginning, middle, and end. She begins by defining gender, and how that term has been used in general. She goes on to describe some of the theories that have analyzed gender. The next part that she explains is how, of late, politics has been coincided with the analysis of gender. Finally, she ends her paper by providing her bottom line opinion about the analysis and approach of gender. Now with the structure of her paper in mind, the next important assessment is in the sources she uses. The sources that Joan Scott utilizes in her argument are mostly ... Globally, climate change has greatly influenced ecosystems and the existence of organisms. This is further extending its effects to regional areas such as Kenya, whose ecosystem is not spared by the changing climate. Despite having natural causes, anthropogenic factors are widely increasing and causing climate change undisputed. The German Democratic Republic (GDR) reunited with the Federal Republic of Germany on October 3, 1990; one year after the Wall fell. When the Berlin Wall fell, both East and West Berlinbecame physically reunified. There was no longer a wall standing in between the two sides and from here on out, two cities became one once again. This was a physically reconnection of two sides of East and West Berlin and the beginning of the loss of identity for those had previously lived in East Berlin(Leventhal). Kubicek believes that due to many years that East and West Germany were divided that the people of each side developed differently and had different values. Each side had created it s own educational system, government and political and views. Kubicek quoted one writer, It will take us longer to tear down the wall in our heads.... (17). This also applied to those living in East and West Berlin. East Berliners also viewed those living in West Berlin as boastful, aggressive and insensitive (Leventhal). They felt unwelcomed and the other half of the city felt very different to them. West Berliners viewed their side of the city as being less safe and now too crowded and those from East Berlin were known as the poorer people. During the eighteenth century, the argument for criminality and delinquency was the fall of man, as the Book of Genesis explains, after Eve ate from the forbidden tree, in Chapter 3. Violence In The Virgin Suicides In The Virgin Suicides From this analysis and definition of witchcraft and its relation to the player, gossip, one can see how violence may erupt from such cases of witch accusations. Gossip, as an active player in witch hunts and trials can [...] outrun the intentions of [its] creators, producing more violence than is anticipated (Stewart and Strathern 193). Such unanticipated growth within gossip is the result of, as Hurston writes in Their eyes were watchingGod, words walking without masters (2). One can relate words walking without masters as violence walking without masters. In the way that words, gossip, and rumor can snowball, to a certain degree, violence can as well. After misfortunes, most often deaths, within a community, people attribute misfortune to witches and kill them in order to set matters right (Stewart and Strathern 193). Therefore, we see that violence is retribution in witch hunts and is given agency through gossip. In The Virgin Suicides, the community, in effect, kills the Lisbon sisters through violent gossip in retribution for Cecilia s death and the unrest it caused the community. The Lisbon sister s state is reflected through a tree in their front yard that, for a time [...] stood blighted, trying to raise its stunted arms, a creature clubbed mute (Eugenides 173). She conveys every aspect of the garden in a very powerful manner, which in turn conveys the wildness of it. This effect is heightened by the animal imagery used to describe the thin brown tentacles of the orchids. The garden can no longer be controlled: it has given itself over to wildness and savage overgrowth. This parallels with the fact that the black people can no longer be controlled by the white people. Therefore, some may interpret the garden as a symbol of the deterioration of the social hierarchy of the time. The natural surroundings are often used as symbols in this novel. • 48. Nero And Roman Architecture The monumental tragedy of burning ancient Rome, known as the Great Fire of Rome, was noteworthy in history although, it has crucial details that still confuse us. According to Tacitus, a roman historian, wrote in The Annals (around year 116) that an urban fire broke out in the merchant area of the city of Romeon the night between 18 and 19 July in the year 64 AD. The fire widespread devastation consumed all in its path for six days and seven nights, leaving almost seventy percent of the city in ruins. A temple that was constructed to deified Claudious, was demolished because it was completed and more importantly in was in the way of Nero s design plan. Art critics agree that this style revolutioned architecture and was an inspiration to Leonardo DaVinci and even Michaelangelo. This is clearly supporting the fact that the Nero s distorted mind schemed a plan to construct all these places. He needed the foundation, he needed a new Rome, he decided to burn the old ...
