and uses of the Gi Fi technologies are described in Section 6.
The future of Gi Fi is traced in section 7. Finally, conclusions are presented in Section 7.
The GiFi chip is the first transceiver in the world that is integrated on a single chip and operates at
60GHz on the
CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) process and delivers short range multi gigabit
data transfer in an indoor environment. It is a complete wireless system on a single integrated circuit
that provides around ten times the bandwidth at one tenth the cost of existing technologies such as
Bluetooth and Wi Fi. The integration of the existing technologies is shown in fig. 3.
II. DEFINITION
The process of Gi Fi would use a chip that transmits at an extremely high 60GHz frequency versus the
5GHz used for the fastest forms of Wi Fi. The sheer density of the signal would allow a chip to send
as much as five gigabits per second. While the spectrum

History Of Gum Disease
Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support the teeth. It starts with
inflammation of gums (gingivitis) which when left untreated may proceed to cause bone loss
(periodontitis). As the support of the tooth is lost, gum diseases lead to lose teeth.
Cause: The primary cause of gum diseases is plaque, the sticky bio film of bacteria that is constantly
forming on our teeth. But there are following factors which increase the risk of developing it:
Poor oral hygiene
Smoking or chewing tobacco
Genetics and family history of gum diseases
Crooked teeth that are hard to keep clean
Pregnancy, hormonal changes
Other diseases like diabetes, cancer, HIV
Medications like steroids, anti epilepsy drugs, cancer therapy drugs, some ... Show more content on

Other studies showed that women with gum disease were more likely to deliver preterm, low birth
weight babies.
Treatment options: The goal of treatment is to reduce swelling, the depth of pockets and stop disease
progression. Treatment options depend on the stage of disease, past history of gum disease, response
to earlier treatment and overall health.
Gingivitis, an early stage of the gum disease is still reversible as the disease is still only isolated to
gums and hasn t yet spread to the bone. It can be easily treated with simple non invasive professional
cleaning by the dentist, followed by daily brushing, flossing and mouthwash rinses. Periodontitis, an
advanced gum disease has spread to the bone and requires surgical treatment.
Scaling of teeth The first and foremost treatment is cleaning of the teeth by a dentist to remove the
plaque and tartar/calculus (hardened bacterial film). This removes the bacteria and thus controls

Good Faith Bargaining
ESSAY GOOD FAITH BARGAINING The objective underlying the Fair Work Act 2009 was to get
the balance right (Smart Company, 2010 ; Forsyth, 2005) between fairness and flexibility in Australian
workplaces while getting rid of the harsher aspects of Work Choices which preceded it. The Fair Work
Act sought to restore collective bargaining in the Australian workplace relations system, including
enhanced rights for union involvement and, most importantly, the good faith bargaining requirements.
Good faith bargaining is an important requirement placed on the parties by the Fair Work Act 2009.
The concept of good faith bargaining is not a novel concept . It has been defined as negotiations in
which two parties meet and confer at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The absence of any reference to face to face meetings in the Act, or to reasonable places , implies that
meetings via teleconference facilities (Heinsz, 2000) or other similar means would suffice, particularly
where employers are located in remote areas. Therefore, the obligation to attend and participate in
negotiations allows employees to feel a sense of trust between them and the management and for that
reason will presumably be able to raise and convey their individual concerns openly. It is also
perceived that good faith bargaining would also enable employees to negotiate more equitable and
flexible outcomes (Patterson, 20002) for themselves. Thus, management will be able to determine
what issues need to be addressed within the organisation and what needs to be done to resolve the
problem. Overall, attending and participating in meetings will provide a forum for employers and
employees to get together before engaging in the enterprise bargaining process (Anderson, 2010) to
consider carefully what they are seeking from the process and what measures they will employ to
determine whether the agreement will be successful. It also allows management and employees the
opportunity to establish consultative mechanisms (Anderson, 2010) to examine the most effective
ways of increasing

The Birthplace Of A Nation
The Birthplace of a Nation
Walking along an old dirt road that was once, in days gone by, a trade route used by Native
Americans, my attention is drawn to a simple, little building in the middle of a peaceful field. I can
hear the sweet mockingbird s song, insects buzzing, the odd acorn falling from a tree and hitting the
ground with a soft thud, and a gentle rustling of the leaves as the breeze blows through the magnolia
trees. To imagine what took place here nearly two hundred years ago is truly a spectacular experience!
Who would have thought that a cabin once designed to be a modest mercantile would be miraculously
transformed into a symbol of freedom and an inspiration of courage? Rich in history, a symbol of the
heritage of Texas, the birthplace of a nation this is Independence Hall.
Independence Hall is a humble, one room, wooden cabin located at the Washington on the Brazos
Historic Site in Texas. At first glance, this modest place may not appear significant, after all, it was
designed to be a practical, little mercantile. But this place is so much more than a mercantile: it is a
symbol of a heritage that belongs to all Texans today as well as to all lovers of freedom and truth.
It was late fall in the year 1835 when unrest began brewing in the hearts of many Texans in what was
then a part of Mexico. These Texans felt that Mexico had not kept her word regarding the individual
rights of her citizens. With the Alamo being under attack by the Mexican army, and

Monk Warriors from the Heian Period
While many individual monk warriors are still recognized from the Heian period in Japan, the most
notorious amongst them all in Japanese records and literature is Shinjitsu. Regarded as Japan s number
one evil martial monk, 1 Shinjitsu comes across as more of an akuso (evil monk) than the ultimate
representation of the greedy and violent sōhei 2 that previous interpretations and literature make him
out to be. In his book The Teeth and Claws of Buddha, Mikael S. Adolphson attempts to better classify
Shinjitsu as the monk commander and warrior administrator he was, and it is this new interpretation
that makes him so important. Shinjitsu, in historical records, was less likely to use his monastic
position than use his ties in the imperial court and with other nobility to assert his control, and was in
fact involved in the first event of the imperial court calling for help from monastic troops. Born in
1086, Shinjitsu belonged to a branch of the Minamoto clan, the Seiwa Genji, who were renowned for
their military services and accomplishments. After Shinjitsu s ancestor Minamoto no Mitsunaka
helped the Fujiwara clan strengthen their position in the imperial court, members from their branch of
the Minamoto family were called the teeth and claws of the Fujiwara. 3 Shinjitsu s grandfather and
father (Yoriyasu) followed in this tradition, and Shinjitsu seems to have picked up traits from both of
them, two of which are made obvious through the historical records concerning him.

The connecting factor in McCrory s Budget Includes Money for Eugenics Victims and State Issues
Apology for Policy of Sterilization is the usage of sterilization in the early 1900 s lasting all the way
up to the mid 70 s. Thousands of people were involuntarily sterilized in order to stop their genes from
continuing on. The goal at hand using sterilization was to help tidy up the genetic pool and it was a
very popular movement. This violation of human rights was devastating to thousands of families and
the state of California has issued and apology for everyone who had to experience this, whereas North
Carolina is proposing House Bill 7 that would allow victims of involuntary sterilization to be

An Example Of Realism In Journalism In Tennessee By Mark...
Mark Twain, real name Samuel Clemons, is an American journalist and humorist. He wrote during the
literary movement of Realism. For Twain, Realism was a way to speak the truth. Realism included
contemporary settings with typical people. It focused on social criticism and literature of the common
place. Realism related to the lives of those living in the mis to late 1800s and early 1900s. The
language of the writing was the way people spoke to each other included common phrases, words, or
slang. Realism writers also say things how they are. The short story by Mark Twain, Journalism In
Tennessee is a prime example of Mark Twain and Realism. In the story, We observe that our
contemporary of the Mud Springs Morning Howl has fallen into error. We see in this quote that Mark
Twain sets the stage of a contemporary setting. He also says things how it is with mentioning error. He
does not glorify the error or make it seem worse. Date of costume about 1848. These few words are an

Regression of Baseball Player Salaries Essay
Introduction The Major League Baseball (MLB) organization is a group of baseball teams that have
made it to the Major League. The Major League Baseball data set provides the 2005 salaries of
multiple Major League Baseball (MLB) teams as well as individual salaries of players within 30 teams
(Lind, Marchal Wathen, 2008). The MLB data set gives information such as batting averages, wins,
salaries, home runs, errors, etc (Lind, Marchal Wathen, 2008). Two specific teams stand out of the
information when looking at their stats; St. Louis and Kansas City. These two teams are drastically
different; one has the most wins out of the MLB data set, and the other has the least wins. With St.
Louis and Kansas City both being in the major league, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We could also test the differences in the season error rate of the two teams chosen and the stolen base
total based on the performance. When performing the regression hypothesis test on the data we hope
to prove that the there is a correlation between the performance of players and the salary that they are
paid. When looking at the base data we are to conclude that there is a difference but by performing the
hypothesis testing we can conclude that there are only some aspects of the sport of baseball that
actually combine performance and pay.

Social Class And Its Effect On Children s Life
On October 23th 1995 at a still undisclosed location, a sniper shot my father. He had been in the
marine of 7 years and a decorated officer and that is everything I ve been told about him to this day.
My mom doesn t mention him and I know none of his relative. Growing up without a parent has a
drastic effect on any child s life. The few people I ve talked to about this often ask why I have never
asked my mother about him and that is hugely due to the circumstances of his death and in some ways
social class. Military kids aren t supposed to cry over loved ones, but honor their memory and respect
their service. We are encouraged to stand strong and often told when younger to make them proud.
Our social class had a lot to do with how I learned to handle this as an officer s son whose mother is
also a high ranking member of the government that pressure to maintain composure was doubled.
Growing up it was often me who was chosen to speak at different memorial and veteran events. I was
poised as somebody other kids who lost parents to look up to, it was up to me to show them how to
act. I was taught young that your actual feelings don t matter only the face you put on to the world. If I
m being honest a second reason I ve never asked is I don t have an interest in learning more it would
only serve to make him real as it is now he is more a mythological figure. In addition to this the fact
that I m a male changed my experiences, in the military traditional gender roles are

The Purpose Of A Social Movement
Social movements play a huge role on determining what makes or breaks a society. The purpose of a
social movement is to strive together in achievement of a social goal. Social movements can be
identified in different locations of the world. The United States alone has been home to thousands of
social movement groups, being that this is the Land of the Free , the citizens will gladly take
advantage of that right. Social movements can advocate for anything but the more common groups are
usually inclined to advocate for religious freedom or even racial equality.

Police brutality has become one of the most experienced issues of the African American communities,

object, every individual has felt love and attraction towards something because it gave them a sense of
acceptance and purpose. As an individual achieves acceptance, they define a purpose. As a common
theme of life; Nino Ricci s story, Going to the Moon and James Joyce s story, Araby similarly

concepts of allure, acceptance, reality and imagination, which aided to break the isolated nature of the

dilemma to achieve acceptance , and the discovery that acceptance is not always what it seems .
Initially, the narrators shared the same desire for affection because of a powerful attraction or Allure
towards a prominent female character. In Ricci s Story, the narrator displayed an allure for Miss
Johnson (his teacher), while in Joyce s story, the narrator developed an allure towards Mangan s sister

Muscles Contract When The Central Nervous System
Muscles contract when the central nervous system gets a signal to contract from the brain. In order to
know how muscles contract you have to know what elements create a muscle. The skeletal muscles
are made up of many bundles of muscle fibers, which are long strands of multinucleate cells. The fiber
is formed by the fusion of many cells. The muscle fiber s main components are the myofibrils. The
myofibrils contain sarcomeres, which is the main element responsible for the contraction and
relaxation of the muscle. The contraction and relaxation actually are from the sarcomere shortening
and lengthening. The sarcomere is made of thick filaments made of myosin and thin filaments
composed of actin. These filaments never change in length; in fact, they slide past each other, which
then allows the sarcomere to shorten the muscle to contract. In actual contraction, there is an
interaction between myosin heads and the actin filament. In this interaction, a group of proteins aid in
the process. Those proteins are, troponin and tropomyosin and the proteins actin and myosin that have
been mentioned early that are contractile proteins (Johnson 2013).
In the contraction of the muscle, action potentials are needed. Action potentials travel down the T
tubules of the sarcolemma, in which they are able to activate the release of Ca++ from the
sarcoplasmic reticulum. Then the Ca++ binds to the troponin. This then allows tropomyosin to move
since it is currently in the way of the interaction of

Reasons For European Colonization
European colonization began in 1492 when a Spanish explorer by the name of Christopher Columbus
sailed west to find a new trade route but ended up in the new world known as the Americas. The
massive territories, countless riches, and experienced native people meant that a claim in the americas
could easily bossy a nations wealth, status, and reputation. After this expedition more countries such
as the European powerhouses; France, Spain, and Britain began to colonize in the America s. France,
Britain, and Spain overall had similar motives when they started to colonize; to spread religion, to
obtain wealth, and to increase geopolitical power. France, Spain, and Britain had the same motives
gold, glory, and gold by their main focus were different. Spain main motive was economical. Britains
motive was for religious freedom and build and empire. The French motive was for trade routes. In
1492 the colonization began for Spain with the arrival of Christopher Columbus to one of the
Caribbean island. The Spanish empire were the first to come to the Americas. The Spanish empire
wanted to find china to get an cultural exchange but instead they found and unknown land. When they
landed the Native American received them with open arms and bearing gifts. !1
The Spanish were seeking gold for the most important reason for their country; and they used every
way to get it. The natives were friendly and amazed by how large their ships were, but the Spanish
weren t looking for a friendship they wanted gold. The Spanish explorers acted like they were friends
with the Native people such a as the Incas and Aztecs, but they wanted everything their way and they
would do anything to have it their way. Christopher Columbus had four main voyages and the main
motive was to seek gold, they were failed attempts. Explorers as Cabeza de Vaca, Hernan Cortes,
Hernando de Soto, and Coronado all went looking for gold and other riches for Spain. The Spanish
empire wanted to be ahead of every other country and they believed colonization and finding gold and
riches would help

Education Reform Needs For A Higher Education System
Education reform needs to be one of the top priorities among our country. Our current educational
system requires people to pay thousands of dollars for a higher education. Students are forced to take
out loans that put them into severe debt for the duration of their live. Low income students, especially,
do not have many options nor are they able to afford higher education and the price is steadily
increasing. It is the government s duty to make this at the forefront of their problems because
education is tied to national success, and will only strengthen our country. Like most things, this issue
is very heavily divided among partisan lines. With the various views on the matter, it seems only the
Democratic party has the best interests of our students. In order to provide a successful national higher
education system in which students won t be in debt trying to acquire a degree, the government has to
bring about serious reform. The steps that have been taken include some form of free college for those
who simply cannot afford it, providing enough financial aid to make up for the lack there is today,
lowering interest rates on loans that cripple our nation in debt, ensuring the needs of low income
families are met, and last but certainly not least providing recent graduates with more job
opportunities. There are people in this country who cannot afford to go to college but should be given
the right, and free college is a right. Democratic Presidential nominee Bernie

U.s. Congress And The United States Congress
Under the first Article in the Constitution, the U.S. Congress is the first branch and is also known as
the most important representative body of the world. They are among the other few national
representative bodies that acquire powers of governance. The U.S. Congress is made up of two
chambers, The House of Representatives and The Senate. The two most important powers given to
any government are the power of force and the power over money, and the U.S. Congress has the
authority over the two. They have a lot of power in their hands (Lowi, 130). As mentioned before, the
U.S. Congress is made up of two chambers the House and the Senate that is provided by the
constitution as a bicameral legislature. They each cater to different constituencies. The House is
known to be more responsive to the people and the Senate is responsive to the elite. They both are
elected directly by the people. Four hundred thirty five of the members of the U.S. Congress are apart
of the House and one hundred of the members are apart of the Senate (Lowi, 136). Can you imagine
having to make compromises and decisions on thing with five hundred thirty five people? I can
imagine with that many people apart of the U.S. Congress that they dealt with a lot of conflict when
having to make decisions. With their powers, under Article I, Section 8, Congress has the power to lay
and collect taxes, borrow money, deal with bankruptcy, and mainly have control over the nations

Social Contract As A Dominant Political Theory Essay
Social Contract As A Timeless Dominant Political Theory
Introduction
The concept of social contract was introduced by early thinkers like Socrates and Plato. The social
contract is a political theory that involves a tacit agreement between members of society group that
allows them to collaborate and promote mutual benefits, as well explains the legitimacy and authority
of government. This concept is further explained and defended by 17th and 18th centuries
philosophers like Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau, who helped to shape these theories and lay down the
foundation for today s democracy and the role of the government in society. Social contract theories
had a profound impact on modern Western society, specifically, America and France. Subsequently, it
had a dramatic ideological influence on the development of democracies around the world.
However, not everyone agreed with the idea of social contract and there are other political theories
which downplay its importance in the role of the government in the community s life. Theorists, such
as Humes, Mandeville, and Smith declare there is no such contract/agreement in existence, but rather
maximizing peoples utility, market forces, and individual selfishness are the driving forces of a given
society.
Nevertheless, we need to recognize the importance of social contract because it provides a conceptual
basis for the development of a democratic and just society. In addition, social contract, through its

Operation Enduring Freedom Essay
Overall Operation: Operation Enduring Freedom
Country/Conflict #1: Afghanistan
How were we involved militarily?
The United States military deployed to Afghanistan after the attack on the twin towers in New York
City. The leader of al Qaeda, and the 9/11 attacks, Osama Bin Laden, refused to come forward when
America released their demands. Thus, American and British forces joined together and started a
series of bombing attacks on al Qaeda and Taliban territories. The airstrikes started a series of
deployments from various nations and Operation Enduring Freedom began. This operation spread to
various countries all fighting against one common enemy terrorism.

The operation has not been successful because the high risk leader of the terrorist group in that

Metaphors In An Age Of Entertainment By Neil Postman
Postman s premise is that we are in an age of entertainment, a people on the verge of amusing to death
, and his argument that the medium is the metaphor: each medium, like language itself makes possible
a unique mode of discourse by providing a new orientation for thoughts, for expression, for sensibility.
And as the entertainment on television has become the metaphor for all communication, his premise is
validated.
In the first chapter of his book, Neil Postman first suggests that different cities of America, like
Boston, New York and Chicago, have served as the metaphors for the U.S. at different times in history.
At present (the book was written in 1985), the American culture is best symbolised by Las Vegas,
which is entirely devoted to the idea of entertainment . Postman asserts that at the current time, all
public discourse increasingly takes the form of entertainment which has put us in a position where we

Because Native Americans were circumscribed to long distance communication through smoke
signals, they could not have had philosophical disussions. The constraints of the form affect what can
be practically communicated through it. An another example refers to President Taft who was a fat
man, one who could not likely be voted today because of his appearance, not appropriate for an
appearance on television. Nevertheless, in a world without television, political arguments had more

Briefly, Postman wishes to see how the Age of Typography became the Age of Television , and how
the latter requires all communications to take the form of entertainment. It is not merely that
entertainment on the television screen has becomes the metaphor of all discourse; it is that, off the
screen, the same metaphor prevails.

What I Learned In Mathematics Class
Remember being taught something new in a mathematics class and thinking to yourself, when am I
ever going to use this in life? Sure, not every mathematical theory taught in class will be used in your
career, but from my experience, many of the skills learned in mathematics are frequently utilized each
day. While mathematics may not be everyone s favorite subject, I found it to be not only the subject I
use the most outside of school, but the one that I enjoy the most, which is why mathematics is my
favorite subject. As a mathematics major, the concept that most people overlook is that I did not
choose to study mathematics because I do well at it; I chose to study mathematics because it makes
me smarter. In fact, all throughout junior high and high school I was in remedial mathematics classes
and worse, I did not even place into a freshman year mathematics class in high school. I had to re take
8th grade mathematics. However, something about mathematics excited me. Maybe it was the fact that
mathematics never came easy to me and I wanted to prove to myself that not only could I pass
mathematics classes, I could actually understand and excel at them. For me, mathematics is not about
the arbitrary numbers, trivial solutions, meaningless formulas, or repetitive computation: it is about
the progress of knowledge and human understanding. I believe that there are two different ways in
which the world develops; the first is through the advancement of history and human

Gender As A Person s Identity
Gender is imprinted in a person s identity. A person s identity is closely connected to the social
institutions he or she includes himself in. These social institutions have influence over the lives of
individuals in various aspects. One social institution an individual imparts oneself in is religion.
Religious institutions use scriptures as the primary basis for life such as the Holy Bible for the
Catholics and the Quran for the Muslims. Of the data given, some Christians and Muslim non
heterosexuals experience social exclusion because of some spiritual texts (Yip, 2005). According to a
survey by Pew Research Center s Social Demographic Trends done in 2013 on the religious
affiliations, 48% of the LGBT Americans did not have one. The executive director of the Gay
Christian Network, Justin Lee said, [the study] reflects a lot of my own experience in the LGBT
community. Many LGBT people have felt a lack of understanding and love from religious groups
Christians in particular and, as a result, they often walk away from their childhood faith and may even
become very hostile to religion. That statement is just one of the many sentiments non heterosexuals
experience in today s contemporary society. The following paragraphs will discuss how Christian and
Muslims non heterosexuals critique the traditional hermeneutics and the credibility of institutional
interpretive authority of Judeo Christian Scriptures and Islam s Holy Book the Quran. There are two

Corn Vs Corn Essay
America grows a lot of corn. Of all the different grains grown here more than 95% of it is corn. While
corn is grown in most every state, most corn is grown in the Heartland, which is what the middle of
the country is sometimes called. Illinois and Iowa, two states in the Heartland, produce 30% of all
corn in America.
Do you enjoy corn of the cob in the summer time? Most of us do, but do Americans eat all this corn
that they grow? No, we do not eat it all, but we do eat quite a bit of it. Sometimes we eat corn without
realizing it!
Corn on the cob or corn in your dinner are obvious ways to eat corn. There are less obvious ways, too.
Corn can be processed, or made, into sweeteners and oils. Sweeteners are added to other foods to
make them sweet. Corn syrup is a sweetener used to make many things, ... Show more content on

Corn can also be made in to cereal, grits, or flour. Grits are kind of like oatmeal, but made with corn.
The corn is dried and ground up. Then, the grits can be mixed with water or milk. Many people enjoy
a bowl of warm grits at breakfast. Flour is made in a similar way to grits but is ground to be very fine,
like regular flour. Americans rely on corn in their diet.
Farmers and other people in agriculture also rely on corn. A lot of corn is used to feed cows and other
animals like pigs and chickens. How much corn that livestock is fed depends on the cost. Farmers may
choose to feed their animals something different if corn costs too much. Or, they may choose to feed
their livestock something different if there is not enough corn for the animals. In some years, not
enough corn is grown to meet all the needs that we have.
Lastly, corn is used to make a fuel. This fuel is called ethanol. In some places ethanol is mixed with
gasoline to run cars and other vehicles. Next time you are at a gas station, look at the gas pump to see
if it says that the fuel contains ethanol. If it does, then you are putting corn into your

Ted Talk Debate Summary
Summary Ted Talk and Debate
I watched two videos about Mexico s drug cartel this week, a Ted Talk and a debate on whether the
U.S. is to blame for the Mexican Drug War. The Ted talk focused on the business aspect of drug
cartels, which is something that I don t hear very often. The debate video was two teams debating to
sway the audience s opinion on whether the U.S. is to blame for the Mexican Drug Wars. While each
person had their own unique ideas, it seemed likely most or all of them agreed on one point, and that
was that the U.S. did share some of the responsibility for the drug war. In both videos, they discussed
the business side of the drug cartels. The bulk of this conversation happened in the Ted Talk, although
there were a few short discussions in the main debate that I listened to. ... Show more content on

While it should be logical that an organization with the reach and profits that a drug cartel has would
have to have great organization or distribution/production routes, it is not something that I have ever
heard talked about before. Most of the time when I think of drug gangs or cartels, I think of the
(somewhat fake or cheesy) henchmen you see in movies, or the small time, local gang members that
you hear about on the news. The highest person I had heard about was El Chapo, and even that was
focused more on his escape than his background or why he was in jail in the first place. I also did not
know that the U.S. has created such a huge demand for drugs, and I feel like that is something that is
not something that I would not have been able to stumble across, so to speak. It completely surprised
me that over 50% of the world s drug demand has come from the United

Descriptive Vacation
I was more than ready to enter Watiki Indoor Water Resort in Rapid City, South Dakota on July 26,
2016 I set a towel down on the beach chair. I was so excited to make the third day of vacation
GREAT!!!! SPLASH! I threw myself into the water. I came up, smiling. Can we do it again? I asked.
Everybody, except for Mom glared at me. Mom simply said, No, Isabel. I shrugged and went over to
the beach lounge chair things. Then I went to the pool. I tried a simple, fun obstacle course. At the
third obstacle, I tipped back in the pool s water! After a few backflips, I went back to see my mom. I
was as cold as ice as I skipped merrily over to the beach chairs. I settled down in a chair with a towel
covering me. I waved to my mom, who was sitting in the chair next to me. Do you want to go on the
water slide with me? It will be fun! Please? Mom asked. I could sense the urge in her eyes, though it
didn t match her words or facial expression. I I screamed at the top of my lungs until I finally got to
my senses during the part that provided enjoyment. I realized it was making me happy and
relaxed!!!!!!!! Ten times as usual, actually! Happy as a humming hummingbird, I told my mom about
my HONEST opinion. Sorry I screamed. That was awesome! I said. I decided to chill out in the hot
tub for maybe 5 minutes. After that, I was desperate to go on the slide over and over and over and over

Comparison Of Benjamin Franklin and Frederick Douglass...
Comparison Of Benjamin Franklin and Frederick Douglass
America, a land with shimmering soil where golden dust flew and a days rain of money could last you
through eternity. Come, You Will make it in America. That was the common theme of those who
would remove to America. It is the common hymn, the classic American rags to riches myth, and
writers such as Benjamin Franklin and Frederick Douglass had successfully embraced it in their
works.Franklin and Douglass are two writers who have quite symmetrical styles and imitative
chronology of events in their life narratives.
They both approached their story with a rags to riches idea. In addition, we must realize that both
Franklin and Douglass are powerful writers. In that sense, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

gained in these assets which eventually became his tool for his departure from slavery.Another
similarity between these two narrations is the assimilation of a created character by the authors
themselves. The chronology and the events that happened in the lives of the authors in their narrations
remained questionable. They picked the events that would only exemplify the characters that they
want to portray. Thus, even though both works are autobiographical, their roles they claimed to be in
their narration are exaggerated. Remember that they want to set themselves up as poor, down beaten
characters at the beginning and slowly rise to power and success. For example, Franklin used
descriptions such as I was dirty from my journey; my pockets were stuff d out with shirts and
stockings... with a roll under each arm, and eating the other, to really give reader a sense of his
conditions when he ran away. Douglass used the same approach to stress his poor conditions. The use

Audacious Euphony Reflection
The first time I learned about the ideas similar to sum class was when I read Richard Cohn s
Audacious Euphony, and I was fascinated by how much information about voice leading can be
facilitated by just summing up the pitch class collection. I am excited to read this paper, which extends
the discussion from diatonic triads and tetrachords to more set classes, and how much of the similar
voice leading properties are retained. There are, however, multiple questions that I am not sure about
the spaces created in the paper, as well as those by Tymoczko and many others, in terms of its musical
value. I am also not sure about the use of the pitch class clockfaces and the current representation of
pitch center of balance, and I wonder if there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found the idea of relating the set classes of the same sum through pure contrary voice leading very
useful and neat. The tetrahedron shown on p. 36 is very interesting in terms of geometrical properties.
However, the tetrachords with doubling tetrahedron is somewhat artificial to me. The geometrical
neatness is facilitated by the multiset (0112), but outside the vertices, each tetrachord can only link to
one/two tetrachords of the same nature through the same motion. Similarly in the tetrahedron B, the
tetrachord that enables the geometry to happen is (0134). I wonder how we can find out such pivotal
set classes when we construct such spaces. In the case of the space in trichords, I really curious about
the cases when we are dealing with odd sum classes. I am fascinated by the fact that the axis of
symmetry is between two rows of 6 trichords (like p. 21) while that of an even sum class only contains
one row of 6 trichords that is the also axis of symmetry. Other than figuring out the pitch center of
balance through the clockface or arithmetical means, would there be some kind of geometrical
significance? There are a lot of interesting geometrical features in the examples and I really want to

Athletes Professional Athletes
There are many arguments on pay gaps and wage differences between genders different races.
However, salaries of professional athletes and every day, essential careers, such as teachers, nurse, and
police officers, can become an even bigger controversy because we don t understand why athletes
deserve to be paid that much, or we think us, as everyday workers, deserve to get paid more for what
we do. There are some valid reasons that contribute to professional athlete s high pay, and our average
pay. This has always been an interesting line of inquiry for me because I never understood why
playing a sport could make you so famous and rich, but the salary for saving lives didn t even
compare. I remember multiple occasions where my dad and I were watching sports, and we landed on
the topic of why professional athletes get paid so much. To no surprise, these conversations always
ended in frustration for both of us and each of asking, what makes professional athletes so much more
important that the rest of us? It is no secret professional athletes have a higher pay than most these
days, but how much more? According to Chris Mueller, a sports columnist, the average Chicago Bear
s football player made two million dollars in 2011, and the highest paid doctor was paid close to
$500,000 (Mueller). This can cause much controversy due to the difference in preparation for the

disorders really beneficial for the patients or is this a way for doctors and pharmaceutical companies

grief not pathological, therefore the DSM repathologiesed it and allow people to go to psychiatrist
when they lose someone in their life and the psychiatrist diagnoses them for their lose even though it
might be a normal self limiting kind of sadness.
Realistically, diagnosis of a mental illness is only a medical diagnostic tool for the physician and it
does not taking into account what the average person is dealing with or living with when they have a
mental illness. One of the flaws of mental illness diagnosis is that it does not address the questions like
what is the life quality of a patient or what other issues could arise in that patient based on these
diagnoses.
However, there are some drawbacks to the diagnosis of a mental illness there is benefit to it as well in
such a way that it helps destigmatized and takes away labels from people who live with actual, severe
mental illnesses. Diagnosis of a mental disorder also helps acknowledgement of a mental disorder
from insurance companies and federal governments for coverage and funding respectively and helps
people to get support and become aware that their behavioral problem is more than just a weak will or
an odd behavior, at the same time diagnosis does not mean getting good treatment as well and in my

The History of Cheerleading Essay
The history of cheerleading is connected to the development of sports in the United States and crowd
participation at athletic events. In 1869, the first American football college game took place at Rutgers
University against Princeton University in Piscataway, New Jersey. This was where cheerleading
initially began.
By the 1880s, the students at Princeton formed an all male student pep club to lead chants and yells in
order to support their team and create an exciting sports environment. To motivate their team, people
in the stands would yell encouragements such as Tiger, Tiger, Sis, Sis, Sis! and Princeton, Princeton,

Thanks to Campbell and his fellow yell leaders , Minnesota won the game 17 6 and cheerleading was
born. Based on their success, cheerleading continued to grow and develop over time. As participation
in cheerleading grew over time, new techniques and skills were added, until cheerleading became
what it is today. Meanwhile, the sport of Basketball invented in 1891, also grew in popularity and
became a major sport where cheerleading also continued to develop and prosper over the next 100
years.
For the first 25 years cheer was a male only activity. In 1923, the first women cheerleaders were
introduced at the University of Minnesota at their sports games. They were only allowed to join
because they had very limited options when it came to sports.. They wore ankle length skirts and
varsity sweaters. Female cheer squads included skills such as gymnastics, dance, and stunting in their
routines. In the 1930s, cheerleaders used paper poms when cheering. The first vinyl pom poms were
made in 1965. Even though women participated in cheerleading in several parts of the country, it wasn
t until the 1940s when the male students left the country to fight in World War II that women became
the majority of cheerleading s athletes. Women took charge and led the crowd in cheers and performed
their own routines. Today, more than 90% of the world s cheerleaders are female.

objects. The trees show the special blending effects of the colors. To the left of the painting, the use of
white creates a light and as the eye moves to the right, it blends into the color of the greens of the
trees. Here, Seurat is placing white and green next to each other. The brushwork of the painting is
dotlike with the dots varying in size and shape. These individuals dots blend together into one scene.
The painting s perspective is to the left with the people all looking that way toward the river. The

with her are the biggest figures in the picture. These sizes help balance the artwork. Lines were mostly
avoided with the use of shading for a softer effect.

work. Mill opposes the self restraint of the individual against restrictions on freedom of the individual
from society, and against restrictions on freedom of the individual and society from the state. In one

relationship of the individual, society and state in the framework of freedom. The major idea is that

In his work Two Concepts of Liberty, Berlin supports the concept of negative freedom freedom as the
absence of external intervention into the sphere of the individual against positive freedom. The latter
refers not freedom as such, but effective power or superiority of a person or the environment. On the
view, the concept of negative liberty seems similar to the idea of Berlin, that freedom is the absence of
a physical and violent influence or interference with the individual and property. The concepts of
freedom and pluralism of values Berlin recognized classics of Western liberalism, whose situation

This society has reached the point where life no longer has any value, no rules and is sensitized to
violence and cruelty. Politics of the extreme left and far right have only polarized our society even
more. In the issue of abortion an innocent life can be taken legally, like when the germans killed Jews
legally, like when blacks were lynched here legally. At one point abortion was illegal and now it is not,
now parents do not even have to know their children are having abortions. If it is not bad then why
hide it? And if we are so sexualized, then why are we not responsible for the side effects of one night

The Roles Of Nero And The Legacy Of Emperor Nero
Emperor Nero, born Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus on December 15, 37, passed from this world June
9, 68 from a self inflicted stab wound to the throat. He is survived by his two wives and his loyal
slaves who helped him escape Rome before he was to be arrested and executed (Commire, 1994).
Those citizens of the Roman Empire that died prior to the arranged murder of Nero s mother,
Agrippina the Younger, would have known Nero as a kind and generous ruler who banned the death
penalty and reduced taxes. A progressive thinker, Emperor Nero even allowed slaves to report harsh
masters to the courts. He would also be remembered as a patron to the arts who began contests in
poetry, theater, and athletics to replace the blood sports that he had banned. ( Nero , 2017)
Unfortunately, history would not remember Nero so kindly. Beginning with the stabbing of his mother
in 59, the reign of Nero was to be one of scandal and tyranny. Unlucky in love, Nero had his wife/step
sister, Octavia, exiled and murdered in 62. He did this to pursue the affections of the wife of a senator,
Poppaea Sabina. After having forcing a divorce from her husband, they were happily married the
following year, 63. This marriage lasted for two years until Nero kicked Poppaea in the stomach,
while she was with child, that ultimately killed her (Commire, 1994). He then fixed upon the idea of
marrying Statilia Messalina and promptly had her husband killed. The following year, he also married

must take great care in managing his own soul before pursuing the heart of others.

One of the most important aspect of his book is the focus on preaching Christ. Spurgeon declares,

Chap. IV). This is the heart of the gospel message and the guide to the lost being

how to detect guilt which is referenced in this paper to contribute to said future validity problems.

There were two variables installed, one of which focused on a photo stimuli and the other using a
phrase provision, wherein the students that contributed happened to have gone through multiple tasks
that led to them gaining hidden information. Using something called probe study, the students were
then randomly assigned either levels of constraints in which they enacted upon the tasks at different
intervals and sessions using something called familiar or unfamiliar methods. As stated earlier,
multiple probe methods were used during the tests varying in degree to the order in which participants
went through the tasks. The students, 36 of them, went through photographs of faces on the photo
constraints and a couple were chosen at random to observe said faces in a limited amount of time.
After the observations were over, the students were asked questions regarding the faces they ve seen,
specifically any changes in mood and facial structure. As the start of the procedure, this portion was
done so multiple time in reordered sections so as to remove any validation issues, and then moved on
to a rating section wherein they scored the faces based on looks. In the second constraint, the rest of
the participants worked on different words and, like the earlier photo variable, there were students
picked at random to participate in a smaller probe in which they were revealed particular words and
asked to memorize the order in which they were given out. They

Baby Bassinets Advantages And Disadvantages
Whoever said that functional couldn t be beautiful as well, had never seen the Badger Basket line of
Baby Bassinets. These bassinets feature full canopies but don t let the frills fool you. They are fully
functional with all of the features that you would want in a bassinet. Let s take a look at some of those
features now.
Here are a few of the pros:
Quick and easy to assemble with no tools necessary. This is a plus that you don t need any power tools
or extra equipment.
All bedding is included: full canopy, a floor length liner/skirt, fitted sheet and a foam pad. All of the
bedding is machine washable for easy cleanup.
Under the bassinet, and hidden by the skirt, is a handy mesh storage basket. You can keep all of your
baby s necessities in there such as toys, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, extra clothes and more.
There are lockable wheels on the bassinet so you can roll the bassinet from room to room.
The wheels of the bassinet can be flipped up so the bassinet can be rocked like a cradle.
The canopy is as functional as it is beautiful. It shields the baby from light and drafts.
The bassinet is for babies up to 20 pounds, 4 months or until the baby can roll over, push up, or sit up
unassisted whichever comes first.
While this model has white canopy and bedding with a rectangular shape to it, there are other fabric
colors and the other shapes available are round and oval.
Affordable mid price.
Here are a few of the cons:

The direct deposition of Ti64 onto a 410 grade stainless...
The direct deposition of Ti64 onto a 410 grade stainless steel base plate resulted in a very fine
microstructure which transitions into a coarser one towards the Ti64 layer, as seen in Figure 1. FeTi
intermetallics are commonly form during traditional fusion welding, as well as diffusion bonding of Ti
based and Fe based alloy [1 5]. Microstructure along the interface seen in the current study was
similar to that obtained by diffusion bonding of micro duplex steel to Ti64 alloy by Orhan et al. [30].
A crack is visible in the figure, which is representative of the entire bonded region. We hypothesize
that cracking occurred due to residual stresses brought about by the differences in thermal properties
between the two materials. Similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bright and dark regions along the NiCr and Ti64 interface observed in the current study were similar
to the interface morphology observed by Kundu et al. Similar unmelted particles in CoCrMo Ti64
compositionally graded structures were also reported by Balla et al. [16] that was also processed via
LENSTM. However, in the current work, these regions are completely spherical as opposed to the
earlier studies where the regions were elongated or needle like. Such difference is hypothesized due to
availability of time for diffusion. Diffusion bonding is carried out for a longer time and hence there is
more diffusion across the interphase where as the LENSTM based solidification is a rapid process.
The bright regions along the interphase observed are intermetallics of Ti64 and NiCr alloys. Based on
the EDS mapping and published literature data [18, 20, 21], possible intermetallic phases are Ni3Ti,
NiTi, Ti2Ni and β Ti. Further investigation is needed to confirm different phase formation in these
layers.
EDS analysis of this sample in Figure 5 reveals that these structures contains more diffused Ni into
Ti64 region than Ti in the NiCr region. From the bonding perspective this is good since it prevents Ti
from diffusing towards the Fe rich region and subsequently prevents the formation of Fe Ti based
intermetallic phase formation that are inherently brittle and mostly responsible for reducing the bond
strength of the joint [2, 3, 5].

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Tissue Microarray
Tissue microarray
Tissue micro arrays (TMAs) was introduced by Kononen et al. in 1998 157. This technique is based
on the assembly of separate tissue cores on a paraffin block, which may contain up to 1000 cores.
TMA can be used for several purposes, in which the detection of protein is the most common. In this
thesis, prognosis/outcome based arrays was applied to evaluate the prognostic value of various
proliferation markers.
Several advantages and disadvantages are associated with TMA compared to the classic single sample
microscope slide. Advantages associated with this technique include rapid and high throughput
validation of biomarkers, less reagent consumption, less expensive, decreased technical time,
decreased assessment time, decreased variability of results, standardization and the possibility of
digitizing and quantifying results 155,158 162. However, TMA is not better than the classic
microscope slide in every are. Several disadvantages are also associated with this technique, including
the preparation that requires more careful planning and high technical skills, sample selection is also
critical due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first study, 581 patients were retrospectively analyzed and associations between numerous
parameters and RFS were made 217. The study demonstrated that a mitotic index of 4 or more or the
presence of three of the following four histological features: sheeting, prominent nuclei,
hypercellularity and small cells were highly predictive of recurrence. Tumors presenting these criteria
showed a significantly greater recurrence rate compared with other tumors. In the second study, the
researchers demonstrated an association between survival and both anaplasia (defined as loss of
meningothelial features) and an even higher mitotic index (20 or more) 216. Meningioma patients
harboring one of these features had a significantly shorter

A Theoretical Framework for Energy Security Through Discourse
The current chapter presents the theoretical framework for the thesis and a method for the analysis.
The central question of the paper regards the evolution of the EU and Estonian energy security
discourses and the implications for the EU governance models in the changing global conditions. For
many years, studies of Europe have focused on the internal processes of integration and enlargement.
Nevertheless, in the context of growing global challenges and the need for innovative solutions for
gaining the competitive advantage signalled that there is a need to turn attention to external
developments and to the internal changes simultaneously. This chapter will introduce some analytical
perspectives which will help to examine developments in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Webber et al, as well as, Buzan et al, governance structures have a hierarchical
institutionalized dimension. The actors within the structure grant the authority to the institutions they
trust and choose to obey. Rod Rhodes, in his work on theorizing the problems of governance, outlines
that it is not possible to discuss the problems of governance without further specification of its sphere.
From the early 90s, the problems of governance have been mostly discussed within the schools of
political science. The enlargement of the EU and the increasing interdependence of the member states
triggered the academic interest towards the distinct structures of the European governance. In this
light, a number of analysts began to address the question of how should the relations between the
member states and the European institutions be examined in the framework of EU governance. Some
emerging approaches for considering these relations will be discussed in the sections below. 2.3.1. Top
down and bottom up approaches to the EU governance There are numerous approaches to study the
issues of European governance and the relations between its actors. Some analysts use top down
approaches and others bottom up approaches in addressing questions concerning power relations
between the EU and its member states. According to

Grant s Discovery In Jurassic Park
Grant s love for dinosaurs directly contrasts his knowledge in knowing the park isn t safe, and causes
him great trouble when he is faced with the knowledge that he must ensure the dinosaurs are destroyed
in order to guarantee his and the other s safety. Upon arriving at the island, he is shown to be in awe of
the dinosaurs, as this is his life s work come to life before him. However, after witnessing the lapse in
judgement so apparent in the construction of the park, he is faced with a dilemma. Grant knows the
danger these dinosaurs pose to his life and the safety of others, and yet it pains him greatly to
condemn them to be destroyed. This demonstrates that Grant s will to survive and to preserve his life
and that of others is greater than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this situation, Hammond is shown to put everyone s lives at risk with his lack of concern for safety,
as all he wants is more money. He is shown early in the novel to have not been prepared for any
situation like this, as he only permitted Muldoon to purchase one rocket launcher. This demonstrates
that Hammond is not concerned about the lives of the people on the island shown by his unwillingness
to kill the dinosaurs as they are worth a lot of money. He shows a lack of self preservation here, as he
is not thinking rationally and when choosing between the survival of those on the island and making
money, he is more focused on making money. Additionally, he is faced with the choice of paying
Nedry more to ensure he does a good job, or paying him less and facing the consequences. Naturally,
Hammond chooses to pay him less, which causes Nedry to betray him and put the lives of everyone at
risk by turning off the power, and consequently, the fences. This illumes the fact that Hammond s
greed is what ultimately causes the lack of power to the island and the deaths of multiple people.
Additionally, if Hammond were to choose between increased safety of his island, thus helping
preserve his and his guest s lives, and money, he would almost always pick money which

A Veteran Banned From Military Housing
Doberman Pinschers and German Shepherd dogs mark 100 years with the AKC. Both German
Shepherds and Dobermans were the Devil Dogs in WWII (Mahood). Both dog breeds have given
years of service to the military. Both dogs have been faithful loyal companions and incredibly
intelligent. Both dogs are ranked in the top five for obedience and working intelligence ( Dog
intelligence rankings ). Yet, the German Shepherd is currently the military police s working dog and
its veteran companion, the Doberman Pinscher, is currently banned from living in military bases. How
is breed banning fair or even effective? In January 5th 2009, the Department of the Army released a
memorandum announcing a new pet policy for families living on military base ... Show more content

U.S. Army Veterinary Command (VETCOM) and the American Veterinary Medical Association
(AVMA) as well as many other organizations, believe that breed bans are not the answer and is an
inadequate solution to reducing dog bite fatalities on military installations. They believe that a
comprehensive approach versus breed bans is a more realistic method of controlling dog bites within a
community (Rolfe). Banning breeds is a knee jerk response that is inappropriate and ineffective. Any
breed can be dangerous; there was a case where a Dachshund was involved in killing an 87 year old
woman ( 2005 dog bite fatalities ). This policy assumes that all dogs of a certain breed is considered
dangerous and will bite, instead of acknowledging that most dogs will not. Another issue is breed
identification. According to the memorandum, the dog will be not be allowed if officials think it looks
like one of the banned breeds. That makes the policy unfair even to dogs that are not from the so
called dangerous breeds. For example, a Labrador Boxer mix, the result looks a lot like a Pit Bull, but
are in no way related. Or certain black and tan Labradors that look like Rottweilers. The deciding
factor is not breed, it is ownership. Irresponsible ownership in the form of poor care, neglect, etc.
results in a potentially dangerous dog. Irresponsible owners will just get a dog that is not banned

Laser Resurfacing Treatment Essay
As we age, we develop wrinkles and fine lines on our face due to the repetitive movements of the
facial muscle. Other factors like diet, exposure to sun and smoking can also affect your skin. Laser
resurfacing treatment is a good option for treating the various skin problems including scars, age
spots, wrinkles, brown discoloration, some types of acne scarring and stretch marks.
The skin color, extent of damage and age are the factors that determine whether laser resurfacing
treatment is appropriate for you. This treatment can be used to treat the entire face or a small area. It
can also soften the fine lines around the mouth, eyes and deep wrinkles and minimize the facial scars
and evenly colored skin.
Types:

Here, a laser of specific wavelength is targeted on a particular area of the skin. The light from the laser
beam is absorbed by the flawed outer layer of the skin and results in its vaporization. With the removal
of the outer layer, the new, healthier underlying skin develops.
When used proficiently, it produces less bruising, bleeding and post operative discomfort. The results
are not permanent but would last for a long term of up to 10 years. Laser resurfacing is highly
effective in eliminating the wrinkles as compared to other skin resurfacing methods. The lasers not
only exfoliate your skin, but also tighten the collagen fibers of the skin, thus restoring some of the
elasticity of skin. Dramatic results have been obtained, as some older people appear 10 20 years
younger after undergoing the treatment.
Pixel fractional skin rejuvenation:
This treatment can significantly revitalize your skin. This innovative laser resurfacing treatment helps
to counteract acne scarring or sun damage. Noticeable results can be obtained in a single treatment.
Pixel fractional skin rejuvenation provides dramatic results with the use of superior technology. It

It starts with inflammation of gums (gingivitis) which when left untreated may proceed to cause bone loss (periodontitis). As the support of the tooth is lost, gum diseases lead to lose teeth. Cause: The primary cause of gum diseases is plaque, the sticky bio film of bacteria that is constantly forming on our teeth. But there are following factors which increase the risk of developing it: Poor oral hygiene Smoking or chewing tobacco Genetics and family history of gum diseases Crooked teeth that are hard to keep clean Pregnancy, hormonal changes Other diseases like diabetes, cancer, HIV Medications like steroids, anti epilepsy drugs, cancer therapy drugs, some ... Treatment options: The goal of treatment is to reduce swelling, the depth of pockets and stop disease progression. Treatment options depend on the stage of disease, past history of gum disease, response to earlier treatment and overall health. Gingivitis, an early stage of the gum disease is still reversible as the disease is still only isolated to gums and hasn t yet spread to the bone. It can be easily treated with simple non invasive professional cleaning by the dentist, followed by daily brushing, flossing and mouthwash rinses. Periodontitis, an advanced gum disease has spread to the bone and requires surgical treatment. Scaling of teeth The first and foremost treatment is cleaning of the teeth by a dentist to remove the plaque and tartar/calculus (hardened bacterial film). Good Faith Bargaining ESSAY GOOD FAITH BARGAINING The objective underlying the Fair Work Act 2009 was to get the balance right (Smart Company, 2010 ; Forsyth, 2005) between fairness and flexibility in Australian workplaces while getting rid of the harsher aspects of Work Choices which preceded it. The Fair Work Act sought to restore collective bargaining in the Australian workplace relations system, including enhanced rights for union involvement and, most importantly, the good faith bargaining requirements. Good faith bargaining is an important requirement placed on the parties by the Fair Work Act 2009. The concept of good faith bargaining is not a novel concept . It has been defined as negotiations in which two parties meet and confer at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The absence of any reference to face to face meetings in the Act, or to reasonable places , implies that meetings via teleconference facilities (Heinsz, 2000) or other similar means would suffice, particularly where employers are located in remote areas. Therefore, the obligation to attend and participate in negotiations allows employees to feel a sense of trust between them and the management and for that reason will presumably be able to raise and convey their individual concerns openly. It is also perceived that good faith bargaining would also enable employees to negotiate more equitable and flexible outcomes (Patterson, 20002) for themselves. Thus, management will be able to determine what issues need to be addressed within the organisation and what needs to be done to resolve the problem. Overall, attending and participating in meetings will provide a forum for employers and employees to get together before engaging in the enterprise bargaining process (Anderson, 2010) to consider carefully what they are seeking from the process and what measures they will employ to determine whether the agreement will be successful. It also allows management and employees the opportunity to establish consultative mechanisms (Anderson, 2010) to examine the most effective ways of increasing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Birthplace Of A Nation The Birthplace of a Nation Walking along an old dirt road that was once, in days gone by, a trade route used by Native Americans, my attention is drawn to a simple, little building in the middle of a peaceful field. I can hear the sweet mockingbird s song, insects buzzing, the odd acorn falling from a tree and hitting the ground with a soft thud, and a gentle rustling of the leaves as the breeze blows through the magnolia trees. To imagine what took place here nearly two hundred years ago is truly a spectacular experience! Who would have thought that a cabin once designed to be a modest mercantile would be miraculously transformed into a symbol of freedom and an inspiration of courage? Rich in history, a symbol of the heritage of Texas, the birthplace of a nation this is Independence Hall. Independence Hall is a humble, one room, wooden cabin located at the Washington on the Brazos Historic Site in Texas. At first glance, this modest place may not appear significant, after all, it was designed to be a practical, little mercantile. But this place is so much more than a mercantile: it is a symbol of a heritage that belongs to all Texans today as well as to all lovers of freedom and truth. It was late fall in the year 1835 when unrest began brewing in the hearts of many Texans in what was then a part of Mexico. These Texans felt that Mexico had not kept her word regarding the individual rights of her citizens. With the Alamo being under attack by the Mexican army, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Monk Warriors from the Heian Period While many individual monk warriors are still recognized from the Heian period in Japan, the most notorious amongst them all in Japanese records and literature is Shinjitsu. Regarded as Japan s number one evil martial monk, 1 Shinjitsu comes across as more of an akuso (evil monk) than the ultimate representation of the greedy and violent sōhei 2 that previous interpretations and literature make him out to be. In his book The Teeth and Claws of Buddha, Mikael S. Adolphson attempts to better classify Shinjitsu as the monk commander and warrior administrator he was, and it is this new interpretation that makes him so important. Shinjitsu, in historical records, was less likely to use his monastic position than use his ties in the imperial court and with other nobility to assert his control, and was in fact involved in the first event of the imperial court calling for help from monastic troops. Born in 1086, Shinjitsu belonged to a branch of the Minamoto clan, the Seiwa Genji, who were renowned for their military services and accomplishments. After Shinjitsu s ancestor Minamoto no Mitsunaka helped the Fujiwara clan strengthen their position in the imperial court, members from their branch of the Minamoto family were called the teeth and claws of the Fujiwara. 3 Shinjitsu s grandfather and father (Yoriyasu) followed in this tradition, and Shinjitsu seems to have picked up traits from both of them, two of which are made obvious through the historical records concerning him. ... • 12. Social Class And Its Effect On Children s Life On October 23th 1995 at a still undisclosed location, a sniper shot my father. He had been in the marine of 7 years and a decorated officer and that is everything I ve been told about him to this day. My mom doesn t mention him and I know none of his relative. Growing up without a parent has a drastic effect on any child s life. The few people I ve talked to about this often ask why I have never asked my mother about him and that is hugely due to the circumstances of his death and in some ways social class. Military kids aren t supposed to cry over loved ones, but honor their memory and respect their service. We are encouraged to stand strong and often told when younger to make them proud. Our social class had a lot to do with how I learned to handle this as an officer s son whose mother is also a high ranking member of the government that pressure to maintain composure was doubled. Growing up it was often me who was chosen to speak at different memorial and veteran events. I was poised as somebody other kids who lost parents to look up to, it was up to me to show them how to act. • 14. Analysis Of The Book The Coming Of The Moon And James... object, every individual has felt love and attraction towards something because it gave them a sense of acceptance and purpose. As an individual achieves acceptance, they define a purpose. As a common theme of life; Nino Ricci s story, Going to the Moon and James Joyce s story, Araby similarly established the theme, allure of the other by demonstrating mutual aspects. For instance, the two stories both illustrated young isolated male narrators who were plot driven by older influencing female characters that accepted them. Together, they re relationships helped to explore and define the concepts of allure, acceptance, reality and imagination, which aided to break the isolated nature of the protagonists. Ricci and Joyce demonstrated that their particular protagonist ultimately shared the same desire, dilemma, and discovery as the other character; the desire for acceptance and purpose , the dilemma to achieve acceptance , and the discovery that acceptance is not always what it seems . Initially, the narrators shared the same desire for affection because of a powerful attraction or Allure towards a prominent female character. In Ricci s Story, the narrator displayed an allure for Miss Johnson (his teacher), while in Joyce s story, the narrator developed an allure towards Mangan s sister (a peer s sibling). • 15. Muscles Contract When The Central Nervous System Muscles contract when the central nervous system gets a signal to contract from the brain. In order to know how muscles contract you have to know what elements create a muscle. The skeletal muscles are made up of many bundles of muscle fibers, which are long strands of multinucleate cells. The fiber is formed by the fusion of many cells. The muscle fiber s main components are the myofibrils. The myofibrils contain sarcomeres, which is the main element responsible for the contraction and relaxation of the muscle. The contraction and relaxation actually are from the sarcomere shortening and lengthening. The sarcomere is made of thick filaments made of myosin and thin filaments composed of actin. These filaments never change in length; in fact, they slide past each other, which then allows the sarcomere to shorten the muscle to contract. In actual contraction, there is an interaction between myosin heads and the actin filament. In this interaction, a group of proteins aid in the process. Those proteins are, troponin and tropomyosin and the proteins actin and myosin that have been mentioned early that are contractile proteins (Johnson 2013). In the contraction of the muscle, action potentials are needed. Action potentials travel down the T tubules of the sarcolemma, in which they are able to activate the release of Ca++ from the sarcoplasmic reticulum. Then the Ca++ binds to the troponin. This then allows tropomyosin to move since it is currently in the way of the interaction of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reasons For European Colonization European colonization began in 1492 when a Spanish explorer by the name of Christopher Columbus sailed west to find a new trade route but ended up in the new world known as the Americas. Our current educational system requires people to pay thousands of dollars for a higher education. Students are forced to take out loans that put them into severe debt for the duration of their live. Low income students, especially, do not have many options nor are they able to afford higher education and the price is steadily increasing. It is the government s duty to make this at the forefront of their problems because education is tied to national success, and will only strengthen our country. Like most things, this issue is very heavily divided among partisan lines. With the various views on the matter, it seems only the Democratic party has the best interests of our students. In order to provide a successful national higher education system in which students won t be in debt trying to acquire a degree, the government has to bring about serious reform. The steps that have been taken include some form of free college for those who simply cannot afford it, providing enough financial aid to make up for the lack there is today, lowering interest rates on loans that cripple our nation in debt, ensuring the needs of low income families are met, and last but certainly not least providing recent graduates with more job opportunities. There are people in this country who cannot afford to go to college but should be given the right, and free college is a right. Democratic Presidential nominee Bernie ... Congress And The United States Congress Under the first Article in the Constitution, the U.S. Congress is the first branch and is also known as the most important representative body of the world. They are among the other few national representative bodies that acquire powers of governance. The U.S. Congress is made up of two chambers, The House of Representatives and The Senate. The two most important powers given to any government are the power of force and the power over money, and the U.S. Congress has the authority over the two. They have a lot of power in their hands (Lowi, 130). As mentioned before, the U.S. Congress is made up of two chambers the House and the Senate that is provided by the constitution as a bicameral legislature. They each cater to different constituencies. The House is known to be more responsive to the people and the Senate is responsive to the elite. They both are elected directly by the people. Four hundred thirty five of the members of the U.S. Congress are apart of the House and one hundred of the members are apart of the Senate (Lowi, 136). Can you imagine having to make compromises and decisions on thing with five hundred thirty five people? I can imagine with that many people apart of the U.S. Congress that they dealt with a lot of conflict when having to make decisions. With their powers, under Article I, Section 8, Congress has the power to lay and collect taxes, borrow money, deal with bankruptcy, and mainly have control over the nations finances. • 21. Social Contract As A Dominant Political Theory Essay Social Contract As A Timeless Dominant Political Theory Introduction The concept of social contract was introduced by early thinkers like Socrates and Plato. The social contract is a political theory that involves a tacit agreement between members of society group that allows them to collaborate and promote mutual benefits, as well explains the legitimacy and authority of government. This concept is further explained and defended by 17th and 18th centuries philosophers like Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau, who helped to shape these theories and lay down the foundation for today s democracy and the role of the government in society. Social contract theories had a profound impact on modern Western society, specifically, America and France. Subsequently, it had a dramatic ideological influence on the development of democracies around the world. However, not everyone agreed with the idea of social contract and there are other political theories which downplay its importance in the role of the government in the community s life. Theorists, such as Humes, Mandeville, and Smith declare there is no such contract/agreement in existence, but rather maximizing peoples utility, market forces, and individual selfishness are the driving forces of a given society. Nevertheless, we need to recognize the importance of social contract because it provides a conceptual basis for the development of a democratic and just society. The United States was involved diplomatically with the Philippines, France, the United Kingdom and several other nations in the operation against terrorism. In this operation, the United States, along with several other countries, allied together under the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The countries banned together and provided one another with advice, supplies, and financial funds. Was this successful or not? Why? The operation has not been successful because the high risk leader of the terrorist group in that territory has yet to be caught. In Afghanistan, the United States intended target was killed and the military was able to capture a few of Osama Bin Laden s accomplice, thus completing a few of the bullet points on the list established after the terrorist attack. • 23. Metaphors In An Age Of Entertainment By Neil Postman Postman s premise is that we are in an age of entertainment, a people on the verge of amusing to death , and his argument that the medium is the metaphor: each medium, like language itself makes possible a unique mode of discourse by providing a new orientation for thoughts, for expression, for sensibility. And as the entertainment on television has become the metaphor for all communication, his premise is validated. In the first chapter of his book, Neil Postman first suggests that different cities of America, like Boston, New York and Chicago, have served as the metaphors for the U.S. at different times in history. At present (the book was written in 1985), the American culture is best symbolised by Las Vegas, which is entirely devoted to the idea of entertainment . Nevertheless, in a world without television, political arguments had more legitimacy than appearance, which was not commonly transmitted to the public. Briefly, Postman wishes to see how the Age of Typography became the Age of Television , and how the latter requires all communications to take the form of entertainment. Sure, not every mathematical theory taught in class will be used in your career, but from my experience, many of the skills learned in mathematics are frequently utilized each day. While mathematics may not be everyone s favorite subject, I found it to be not only the subject I use the most outside of school, but the one that I enjoy the most, which is why mathematics is my favorite subject. As a mathematics major, the concept that most people overlook is that I did not choose to study mathematics because I do well at it; I chose to study mathematics because it makes me smarter. In fact, all throughout junior high and high school I was in remedial mathematics classes and worse, I did not even place into a freshman year mathematics class in high school. I had to re take 8th grade mathematics. However, something about mathematics excited me. Maybe it was the fact that mathematics never came easy to me and I wanted to prove to myself that not only could I pass mathematics classes, I could actually understand and excel at them. For me, mathematics is not about the arbitrary numbers, trivial solutions, meaningless formulas, or repetitive computation: it is about the progress of knowledge and human understanding. Come, You Will make it in America. That was the common theme of those who would remove to America. It is the common hymn, the classic American rags to riches myth, and writers such as Benjamin Franklin and Frederick Douglass had successfully embraced it in their works.Franklin and Douglass are two writers who have quite symmetrical styles and imitative chronology of events in their life narratives. The chronology and the events that happened in the lives of the authors in their narrations remained questionable. They picked the events that would only exemplify the characters that they want to portray. Thus, even though both works are autobiographical, their roles they claimed to be in their narration are exaggerated. Remember that they want to set themselves up as poor, down beaten characters at the beginning and slowly rise to power and success. For example, Franklin used descriptions such as I was dirty from my journey; my pockets were stuff d out with shirts and stockings... with a roll under each arm, and eating the other, to really give reader a sense of his conditions when he ran away. There are, however, multiple questions that I am not sure about the spaces created in the paper, as well as those by Tymoczko and many others, in terms of its musical value. The tetrahedron shown on p. 36 is very interesting in terms of geometrical properties. However, the tetrachords with doubling tetrahedron is somewhat artificial to me. The geometrical neatness is facilitated by the multiset (0112), but outside the vertices, each tetrachord can only link to one/two tetrachords of the same nature through the same motion. Similarly in the tetrahedron B, the tetrachord that enables the geometry to happen is (0134). I wonder how we can find out such pivotal set classes when we construct such spaces. In the case of the space in trichords, I really curious about the cases when we are dealing with odd sum classes. Spurgeon makes the case that ministry must be handled with precision, attentiveness, and truth. He further shares, What a dreadful thing it will be for me if I should be ignorant of the power of the truth which I am preparing to proclaim (2010, Chap. I). The preacher must take great care in managing his own soul before pursuing the heart of others. A minister must understand that the necessity of prayer, daily personal devotion, and earnestness in studying the word of God is significant. Charles Spurgeon shares, Whenever his mind turns to his work, whether he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is an effective book, which provides meaningful guidance in recognizing, acknowledging, and pursuing the call to ministry. Charles Spurgeon gives a positive perspective on necessity of prayer, sermon preparation, pulpit etiquette, personal balance, and moral character. He makes a great point in sharing that ministers should not be artificial or unmanly in their ways. Spurgeon states, If they saw us, in the putlit and out of it, acting like real men, and speaking naturally, like honest men, they would come around us (2010, Chap. XII). Pastors or ministers should make it their mission to be around the lay members and connect with the congregation. One of the most important aspect of his book is the focus on preaching Christ. Spurgeon declares, Brethren, first and above all things, keep to plain evangelical doctrines, whatever else you do or do not preach, be sure incessantly to bring forth the soul saving truth of Christ and him crucified (2010, Chap. IV). This is the heart of the gospel message and the guide to the lost being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Delaying Gratification The willingness to delay gratification has been studied widely as it predicts social outcomes such as substance abuse or obesity. Many researchers have focused on cognitive control, which is considered to have a major influence on the individuals abilities to delay gratification. However, in addition to cognitive control, social trust also affects the delay of gratification since delaying gratification will make sense only if a person is sure that the reward will actually be given. In the present study, Michaelson and Munakata (2016) therefore, tested the influence of social trust on delaying gratification of children by manipulating trust that is unrelated to reward expectation. The researchers tested 34 typically developing children ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Use Of CKT And Concealed Knowledge Test Methods The study essentially looked upon different variations and means to figuring out ways on how to catch lies using alternative CKT or Concealed Knowledge Test methods. This particularly focuses itself on the recognition of introspective, privileged information using participant reaction scores. Before going over the actual study, the paper lends itself to explaining what may be considered confounding factors later shown in the study by listing out problems that might arise with lie detectors. The Lykken study led to researchers using something called the Guilty Knowledge Test method to acknowledge ways on how to detect guilt which is referenced in this paper to contribute to said future validity problems. There were two variables installed, one of which focused on a photo stimuli and the other using a phrase provision, wherein the students that contributed happened to have gone through multiple tasks that led to them gaining hidden information. Using something called probe study, the students were then randomly assigned either levels of constraints in which they enacted upon the tasks at different intervals and sessions using something called familiar or unfamiliar methods. As stated earlier, multiple probe methods were used during the tests varying in degree to the order in which participants went through the tasks. The students, 36 of them, went through photographs of faces on the photo constraints and a couple were chosen at random to observe said faces in a limited amount of time. After the observations were over, the students were asked questions regarding the faces they ve seen, specifically any changes in mood and facial structure. As the start of the procedure, this portion was done so multiple time in reordered sections so as to remove any validation issues, and then moved on to a rating section wherein they scored the faces based on looks. In the second constraint, the rest of the participants worked on different words and, like the earlier photo variable, there were students picked at random to participate in a smaller probe in which they were revealed particular words and asked to memorize the order in which they were given out. The direct deposition of Ti64 onto a 410 grade stainless steel base plate resulted in a very fine microstructure which transitions into a coarser one towards the Ti64 layer, as seen in Figure 1. FeTi intermetallics are commonly form during traditional fusion welding, as well as diffusion bonding of Ti based and Fe based alloy [1 5]. Microstructure along the interface seen in the current study was similar to that obtained by diffusion bonding of micro duplex steel to Ti64 alloy by Orhan et al. [30]. A crack is visible in the figure, which is representative of the entire bonded region. We hypothesize that cracking occurred due to residual stresses brought about by the differences in thermal properties between the two materials. Similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bright and dark regions along the NiCr and Ti64 interface observed in the current study were similar to the interface morphology observed by Kundu et al. Similar unmelted particles in CoCrMo Ti64 compositionally graded structures were also reported by Balla et al. [16] that was also processed via LENSTM. However, in the current work, these regions are completely spherical as opposed to the earlier studies where the regions were elongated or needle like. Such difference is hypothesized due to availability of time for diffusion. Diffusion bonding is carried out for a longer time and hence there is more diffusion across the interphase where as the LENSTM based solidification is a rapid process. The bright regions along the interphase observed are intermetallics of Ti64 and NiCr alloys. Based on the EDS mapping and published literature data [18, 20, 21], possible intermetallic phases are Ni3Ti, NiTi, Ti2Ni and β Ti. Further investigation is needed to confirm different phase formation in these layers. EDS analysis of this sample in Figure 5 reveals that these structures contains more diffused Ni into Ti64 region than Ti in the NiCr region. From the bonding perspective this is good since it prevents Ti from diffusing towards the Fe rich region and subsequently prevents the formation of Fe Ti based intermetallic phase formation that are inherently brittle and mostly responsible for reducing the bond strength of the joint [2, 3, 5]. ... • 46. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Tissue Microarray Tissue microarray Tissue micro arrays (TMAs) was introduced by Kononen et al. in 1998 157. This technique is based on the assembly of separate tissue cores on a paraffin block, which may contain up to 1000 cores. TMA can be used for several purposes, in which the detection of protein is the most common. In this thesis, prognosis/outcome based arrays was applied to evaluate the prognostic value of various proliferation markers. Several advantages and disadvantages are associated with TMA compared to the classic single sample microscope slide. Advantages associated with this technique include rapid and high throughput validation of biomarkers, less reagent consumption, less expensive, decreased technical time, decreased assessment time, decreased variability of results, standardization and the possibility of digitizing and quantifying results 155,158 162. The central question of the paper regards the evolution of the EU and Estonian energy security discourses and the implications for the EU governance models in the changing global conditions. For many years, studies of Europe have focused on the internal processes of integration and enlargement. Nevertheless, in the context of growing global challenges and the need for innovative solutions for gaining the competitive advantage signalled that there is a need to turn attention to external developments and to the internal changes simultaneously. According to Webber et al, as well as, Buzan et al, governance structures have a hierarchical institutionalized dimension. The actors within the structure grant the authority to the institutions they trust and choose to obey. Rod Rhodes, in his work on theorizing the problems of governance, outlines that it is not possible to discuss the problems of governance without further specification of its sphere. From the early 90s, the problems of governance have been mostly discussed within the schools of political science. The enlargement of the EU and the increasing interdependence of the member states triggered the academic interest towards the distinct structures of the European governance. In this light, a number of analysts began to address the question of how should the relations between the member states and the European institutions be examined in the framework of EU governance. Some emerging approaches for considering these relations will be discussed in the sections below. 2.3.1. Top down and bottom up approaches to the EU governance There are numerous approaches to study the issues of European governance and the relations between its actors. Some analysts use top down approaches and others bottom up approaches in addressing questions concerning power relations between the EU and its member states. According to ... He is shown early in the novel to have not been prepared for any situation like this, as he only permitted Muldoon to purchase one rocket launcher. This demonstrates that Hammond is not concerned about the lives of the people on the island shown by his unwillingness to kill the dinosaurs as they are worth a lot of money. He shows a lack of self preservation here, as he is not thinking rationally and when choosing between the survival of those on the island and making money, he is more focused on making money. Additionally, he is faced with the choice of paying Nedry more to ensure he does a good job, or paying him less and facing the consequences. Naturally, Hammond chooses to pay him less, which causes Nedry to betray him and put the lives of everyone at risk by turning off the power, and consequently, the fences. This illumes the fact that Hammond s greed is what ultimately causes the lack of power to the island and the deaths of multiple people. Both dog breeds have given years of service to the military. Both dogs have been faithful loyal companions and incredibly intelligent. Both dogs are ranked in the top five for obedience and working intelligence ( Dog intelligence rankings ). Yet, the German Shepherd is currently the military police s working dog and its veteran companion, the Doberman Pinscher, is currently banned from living in military bases. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... U.S. Army Veterinary Command (VETCOM) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) as well as many other organizations, believe that breed bans are not the answer and is an inadequate solution to reducing dog bite fatalities on military installations. They believe that a comprehensive approach versus breed bans is a more realistic method of controlling dog bites within a community (Rolfe). Banning breeds is a knee jerk response that is inappropriate and ineffective. Any breed can be dangerous; there was a case where a Dachshund was involved in killing an 87 year old woman ( 2005 dog bite fatalities ). This policy assumes that all dogs of a certain breed is considered dangerous and will bite, instead of acknowledging that most dogs will not. Another issue is breed identification. According to the memorandum, the dog will be not be allowed if officials think it looks like one of the banned breeds. That makes the policy unfair even to dogs that are not from the so called dangerous breeds. For example, a Labrador Boxer mix, the result looks a lot like a Pit Bull, but are in no way related. Or certain black and tan Labradors that look like Rottweilers. The deciding factor is not breed, it is ownership. Irresponsible ownership in the form of poor care, neglect, etc. results in a potentially dangerous dog. Irresponsible owners will just get a dog that is not banned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
