This document discusses plans for a project called the Sentinel Landscape on Oil Palm (SLOP) that will assess the global value chain and investment flows associated with oil palm development. The project will focus on selected landscapes in 7 countries where oil palm is an important crop. The project aims to explore how oil palm expansion shapes local economies and land use change over time. It also seeks to understand the roles of state policies and corporate strategies in different production systems and their social and environmental impacts.
