Clinical studies are purposed to help physicians and other interested parties to make health improvements on how issues are handles.
The United States currently faces a large number of health issues.
Obesity is among the common health issues that the country is facing, which requires intervention.
The country is currently the leading place with the largest number of people with this condition (Booth, Charlton, & Gulliford, 2016).
Obesity has been an issues of concern to many in the United States, mainly because the country is the leading nation in the world with the largest population of obese individuals.
The need to implement effectiveness and ensure that people regain their health is essential for the health industry of the country.
This presentation aims to present a research study on this issue and it provide recommendation of effective intervention measures that should be taken to address the issue.

Over view of the study
Obesity is currently affecting more than 37.9 percent of all the adults in the United States.
Annually, the government spends about 147 million dollars to address issues related to obesity only.
With this issue being extremely important, the study aims to obtain more information about the issue in the country.
The study then aims to use the findings that will be obtained to make recommendations of appropriate intervention strategies.
Statistical evidence clarify that obesity is a significant problem in the United States. Through this condition, more than 37.9 percent of the United States feel adverse negative effects, and are considered less healthy compared to other people.
This study has its main purpose being to make sure that effective strategies have been developed through which the issue will become less significant in terms of effect and money.

Weight loss interventions for adults who are obese on mortality and morbidity...Health Evidence™
Health Evidence™ hosted a 60 minute webinar examining the effects of weight loss interventions for adults who are obese on mortality, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Follow this link to access to the audio recording for this webinar: https://youtu.be/olF1bvaofXE
Dr. Alison Avenell, Clinical Chair in Health Services Research, and Sam (Chenhan) Ma, from the Health Services Research Unit at the University of Aberdeen presented an overview of findings from their latest systematic review and meta-analysis:
Ma C, Avenell A, Bolland M, Hudson J, Stewart F, Robertson C, et al. (2017). Effects of weight loss interventions for adults who are obese on mortality, cardiovascular disease, and cancer: Systematic review and meta-analysis. BMJ, 359, j4849.
Adults with obesity have an increased risk of premature mortality, cardiovascular disease, some cancers, type 2 diabetes, and many other diseases. This review assesses whether weight loss intervention for adults with obesity affect all cause, cardiovascular, and cancer mortality, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and body weight. Fifty-four randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with 30,206 participants were identified in the review. High quality evidence showed that weight loss interventions decrease all cause mortality, with six fewer deaths per 1000 participants. Moderate quality evidence showed an effect on cardiovascular mortality, and very low quality evidence showed an effect on cancer mortality. Weight reducing diets, usually low in fat and saturated fat, with or without exercise advice or programmes, may reduce premature all cause mortality in adults with obesity.

Prevalence of and Socio-Demographic Factors Related with Overweightsajjalp
The objective of the study is to determine the prevalence of overweight and to describe the socio-demographic factors
related with overweight. A cross-sectional survey was conducted at women’s college Kathmandu, Nepal from January to April
2019 using a convenient sampling technique to select the subjects. The study was conducted among 202 female students aged 18
to 23 years with the self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire comprises questions on socio-demographic factors
related to the weight status. The height and weight of subjects were self-reported to calculate the body mass index (BMI) and to
group them into overweight, normal weight, and underweight according to the guidelines of the world health organization. The
prevalence rate of overweight among the female students was 12.9% (CI: 8.4 – 17.8, p<0.05). The average BMI for overweight
students is 26.4 ± 0.973 kg/m2 with 95% confidence interval: 26- 26.79, p < 0.05. Most of the students are conscious about their
health. The socio-demographic factors behind overweight among the female students were physical inactivity, unhealthy food
consumption pattern, and moderate average family monthly income

Health Effects of Obesity
The dramatic increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity in most countries has been
of great concern globally. This is estimated to be the cause of more than 3.4 million deaths
worldwide, 4% of Years of Life Lost (YLL), and at least 4% of Disability-Adjusted Life
Years (DALYs) all around the word. However, despite the urgency of this problem, there are
still some noticeable gaps in what is known about this subject. For instance prevalence of
obesity is most often estimated based on surveys or population studies. Not only that data on
prevalence and trends are based on measurements of weight rather than the body fat. This
increase in body mass presents public health challenges because of attractive physical
appearance of thin bodies, and poor health outcomes of overweight and obesity. Health
condition of obese persons is most often worse than people with normal weight and the life
span of obese people is on average is shorter by two years. Obesity is multi factorial
phenomena and associates with age, gender, ethnicity, levels of leisure time, physical
activity, education, parity, economical and marital statuses, smoking habits, alcohol
consumption, family history of obesity and dietary habits in both men and women. In
compare to men, such deter .

PREVALENCE AND FACTORS
CONTRIBUTING TO OBESITY AMONG THE
HOUSEWIVES OF BIRATNAGAR SUBMETRO
POLITAN CITY.
3. Introduction
Obesity is a major public health problem and becomes
an important epidemic in both developed and
developing countries since an increase in the risky
lifestyles . Obesity is a global problem, affecting an
estimated 300 million people worldwide and its
prevalence in the recent decade had a rapid increase
(178%) . Obesity substantially increases the risk of
several major cancers especially postmenopausal
breast cancer and endometrial cancer . Moreover,
studies indicated that overweigh and obesity are
associated with an increase in mortality and a
considerable reduction in life expectancy.
4. Obesity is a multi factorial phenomena and associates
with age, gender, ethnicity, levels of leisure time,
physical activity, education, parity, economical and
marital statuses, smoking habits, alcohol consumption,
family history of obesity and dietary habits in both
men and women. In compare to men, such determinant
factors of obesity were frequently accumulated in
women; the findings of several studies have shown
that the incidence and the prevalence of obesity in
women in many countries are higher than men.
5. Need of the study
Obesity is the main cause of chronic illness and risk of
being obese is incresing in housewives so this study
will help to find out the prevalence and contributing
factors about obesity so that problems will be
addressed.
6. Significance of the study
This study will help to find out the prevalence and
contributing factors of obesity among the housewives
which will be significant as
it will help the housewives and the other members of
the society to adopt healthy lifestyle.
It will help the nation to minimize obesity and thus
helps in reducing chronic illness.
It will help different NGO’s and INGO’s working in
health sectors to plan a progrramme related to healthy
life style.
7. Objectives
To assess the prevalence of obesity among the
housewives.
To identify the contributing factors of obesity
among the housewives .
To find out the association between the selected
contributing factors and obesity.
8. Research question
What is the prevalence of obesity among the
housewives?
What are the contributing factors of obesity among
the housewives?
What is the association between the selected
variables and obesity?
9. Variables
Dependent variables
obesity: BMI(continuous)
Independent variables
age :in completed years(continuous)
number of children: 1,2,3…..discrete
Exercise: daily, twice a day, once a week, twice a
week.(discrete)

day(discrete)
Sleep/rest:(continuous)
Education: primary, secondary,higher secondary,
bachelors,masters(ordinal)
contraceptives: types of contraceptives(nominal)
Watching television: duration in
hours(continuous)
12. Chapter II: LITERATURE REVIEW
Body weight alone is not a very sensitive indicator for
defining obesity (Atkinson, 1993). Factors such as age,
sex, height, lean muscle mass and body fat percentage
are all unaccounted for when using weight alone to
measure healthy body weight on an individual level.
Thus, weight alone should be avoided as a standard for
assessing a person’s relative risk for overweight and
obesity. Ideal body weight is an unscientific measure,
and can provide only an estimate of appropriate
weight. A simple way to calculate ideal body weight
for women is as follows: 100 lbs for the first 60 in (5
ft) + 5 lbs for every additional inch (Davis & Sherer,
1994, p.292).
13.
14. Chapter III: Research Methodology
