The Salt Marsh Ecosystem A Salt Marsh is an extremely important ecosystem. It is home to a variety
of both plants and animals. Salt Marshes have distinct characteristic that separate them from other
ecosystems. These characteristics force any plant or animal living there to have ways to adapt to the
sometimes extreme environments in order to survive and thrive. Salt Marshes are not only biologically
important, they also have economic and physical importance. We found many different plants and
organisms while exploring the Salt Marsh on the Salem State campus. Salt Marshes contain great
biodiversity, while functioning as sources of biological, physical, and economic importance. Salt
Marshes are coastal wetlands that are drained and flooded by tides. There are channels that wind
through the marshes and empty into pools. A Salt Marsh has great biodiversity because it provides
different habitats. There are muddy areas, pools with different depths, and a variety of grasses. This
makes it the perfect home for organisms such as birds, insects and worms, fish, snails, crabs, and
different mussels and clams. According to the National Ocean Service, the characteristic ... Show

changes caused by the tides. While in the marsh. My group saw a lot of dead fish in a dried up pool,
while only a foot or so away there were more of the same species of fish thriving in the muddy water.
Organisms living in the water must also adjust to different concentrations of salt in the water,

Carpenter Research Papers
There are jobs upon jobs out there, and one job out of millions would be a carpenter. Carpenters do all
sorts of things from building skyscrapers, to making houses, and to constructing roads. Carpenters
have been around for a long time and, they have been a big part in building the America as we know it
today. Therefore, there are many things to look at when considering to be a carpenter, the job
description, earnings and work conditions. There are many different things that carpenters need to
know to be carpenters. Therefor carpenters have to be a good at working with wood. Also carpenters
also have to know how to read blueprints. Most of the time a carpenter will be involved in all stages of
building or constructing the project at hand. There are many different specializations of carpenters

What Is Procedural Programming Paradigm
Task 1
What is Procedural Programming Paradigm?
In Information Technology(IT) jargon Programming is termed as an innovative process where the
computer receives instructions how to perform a task as per the requirement or solving a specific
problem.
The various ways of attending to the process of programming is known as programming paradigms.
Majority of programming language comes under one paradigm; contrary to this one could observe
some languages having elements of multiple paradigms. Paradigm is a way where a specific code is
arranged. A code comprises various commands or instructions there in relation to functions and or
procedures.
Most vital programming paradigms can be listed as Procedural paradigms and the object oriented
paradigms.

When a particular programme is taken into consideration you may find variables in it. This variable
will be mainly applicable or belongs to that particular function and this is called a local variable.
When variables are need within and outside the function is known to be a global variable.
Produces
Produces are some times called sub programme, routine or method which relates to sequence of orders
to carry out the task.
The main types of Programming Paradigm.
Out of the vast numbers of programming paradigms that are available, the following are know to be
some of the main types.
1. Functional
2. Logical
3. Imperative
4. Object oriented
Functional
In this type of programming which are considered as a subset of declarative programming. The use of
expressions take place and programs created using this paradigm use functions based on the particular
input or the instructions which are provided to the computer.
Eg: Haskell
Logical
Logical paradigm use steps or instructions where are based on solving problems such as computation

Corrie Ten Boom
The theme of selfless service and unflinching love in the face of persecution dominates the work of
Corrie ten Boom in THE HIDING PLACE. Through the lens of her Christian upbringing, ten Boom
articulately recounts her life s journey from a small child living in a bustling Dutch city to a vapid,
malnourished prisoner of the German Nazis. Through her life s struggle, she hopes to inspire others
and teach a new generation about the value of life and the innate capacity that all possess to fully love
one another.
THE HIDING PLACE recounts Corrie ten Boom s intriguing life story. Casper ten Boom and
Cornelia ten Boom were married and started a family in the late 1800s in Haarlem, Holland. Cornelia

This visit marked a turning point for Corrie. Through the Bulldog s anecdotes of harassment and
difficulty, she was able to personalize the wrath of the German soldiers. She experienced first hand the
effects that the persecution had on Haarlem s Jews. Over the next few weeks, Jews began furtively
arriving at the Beje under the cover of night in order to escape their captors. Corrie, Betsie, and their
father welcomed these new guests with open arms, but the ten Booms knew that the Jews would not
be able to stay for very long. Ration cards were scarce and food would soon run out. Corrie turned to
her brother Willem, who worked with the Underground Resistance. Willem arranged for the
transportation of the Jews to the countryside, but Corrie knew that his help would only last for so long.
For her to be successful at helping the Jews, she needed to make her own connections and arrange her
own system of dealings. She arranged for ration cards to be dropped off at the Beje, kept in contact
with the Resistance s top leaders, and had alarm systems and a secret hiding place in her room built.
The Beje turned into the hub of the Jewish underground movement in Haarlem under the guise of a
petty watch repair shop. Putting their personal safety at risk week after week, month after month, the
ten Booms oversaw hundreds of Jews taken to

Chemical Reactions And Factors That Affect The Rate Of A...
Reactions occur everywhere, and they may take decades, such as fossils, or only seconds, such as
lighting a match to occur. Chemical kinetics concerns the rates of chemical reactions and what factors
affects these rates (Iodine Clock, 2017). Temperature, concentration, pressure of reacting gases,
surface area of reacting solids and the use of catalysts are all factors which affect the rate of a reaction
(Bbc.co.uk, 2017). This is because they affect the reaction roles and yields of activation energy,
product management and reactant management (William, 2017). This is accomplished by making
changes to the concentration, pressure or temperature of a reaction to alter the position of the
equilibrium (Bbc.co.uk, 2017).
Accordingly, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was further identified that typically for every 10oC temperature rise, the reaction rate would double
(Del Mundo et al., 2016) (Clark, 2017).
Throughout the Landolt Iodine Clock Reaction, chemical equilibria are clearly demonstrated through
the delayed colour change of combining two colourless solutions to form a dark blue solution. The
overall chemical reaction for this is as follows:
2IO 3(aq) + 5HSO 3(aq) + 2H (aq) → I2 + 5HSO 4(aq) + H20(l)
Iodate ions + Bisulfite ions + hydronium ions → Iodine + Bisulfate + water (Iodine Clock, 2017)
The individual steps of the reaction are:
(1) IO3 (aq) + 3HSO3 (aq) → I (aq) + 3SO4 (aq) + 3H+(aq)
Iodate + Bisulfite → Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions
(2) IO3 (aq) + 5I (aq) + 6H+aq) → 3I2(aq) + 3H2O(l)
Iodate + Iodide + Hydronium ions → Iodine + Water
(3) I2(aq) + HSO3 (aq) + H2O(l) → 2I (aq) +SO4 (aq) +3H+(aq)
Iodine + Bisulfite + Water → Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions
(4) I2(aq) + I (aq) + starch → dark blue starch I3 complex
Iodine + Iodide + starch → dark blue starch I3 complex
(Iodine Clock Reaction, 2015)
The first reaction is the rate determining step, and hence, determines the order of the reaction. The
equilibria is delayed in this reaction due to any of the iodine produced, immediately reacting with any
bisulfite still present, before then being converted into colourless iodide (reaction 2). Therefore, to
demonstrate this reaction, the

The Logic Of English Land Law
As it has been a substantial part of the Land Registration Act 2002, I would like to look into the
process of electronic conveyancing and how it supports my argument that the logic of English land
law had been changed through the Act to a more rational, market efficient way. The Land Register was
empowered to set up a Land Registry Network , this network could go beyond the legal aspect of the
transaction and could cover the whole transaction from the point when a property is put on sale . The
formalities of electronic dispositions were also introduced in the Act. The electronic document now
had to stipulate its effective time and date, as well as to include electronic signatures of all the parties
by whom it purports to be authenticated plus every electronic signature has to be certified. If an
electric document complied with these formalities, it was to be regarded by law as a written deed,
signed by each individual and sealed by each corporation . Another important concept development
was network access agreement where the lawyers would be allowed to make changes to the title or the
cautions register without involving the land registry officers. There were rules imposed on regulation
of the network and in order to enter into a network access agreement an applicant had to fulfill criteria.
The Act has also set out that whenever there was a conflict, the overriding nature of the obligation
owed under the network access agreement, such obligation would

Christian Mission Book Review Essay
Christian Mission Book Review Part two begins with David Livingstone, a Scottish missionary, and a
professional doctor. He was very interested in exploration and his main goal was to stop Portuguese
and Arab slave trade, he believed in human self worth. He got his men and his supplies and started his
voyage to Africa to map Africa, he was successful at mapping most of Zambezi. Livingstone was
accused of not being a real missionary and he was too political but he always made sure he was
working with God in mind. Livingstone died at the age of 60 in 1873 defending the African s freedom.
His people cut out his heart and buried it, the rest of his body was mummified and taken to
Westminster Abbey to be buried, as he wished. A statue was built in his honor with the base reading,
Missionary, Explorer, Liberator . Livingstone is one example of how much political and economic
power a Christian missionary can have. He also encouraged the work of the Jesuits in China. The
western power and missionaries have created bad names for the social/cultural changes or for being
connected with colonialism, imperialism, westernity, and modernity mostly by the missionaries. Some
say that Christianity has challenged or strengthened the local power. Scientific racism first came up in
the 1850s Joseph Arthur de Gobineu s book called Essi sur l inegalite des races humanines. He
believed that the African and Asian people could be a part of the Christian religion or culture because

This case study is about Under Armour, a company that deals with the manufacture and sales of all
forms of sportswear and accessories. The company has had great sales in most of its products like
moisture wicking shirts and athletics shoes. Despite this, the company still holds only 5% of the
market shares, trailing behind Nike, Adidas and Asics. Moreover, the company posses low financial
strength such that it cannot launch multiple products in multiple categories at the same time like its
competitors. One good thing is that the company has a chosen to follow a pricing strategy in order to
hit its targets in the market. For example, it is developing sports wear and ... Show more content on

This will start by establishing whether the products offered by competitors are of the same nature, or
whether they are pricing in the same range. This is important because the company still has two
weaknesses. The company has a slim financial strength and a slim market share (5%). If the company
makes a mistake of over pricing, it may lose the already existing customers as well as the market share
it has. The competitors are also likely to use their financial strength to fight the brand in the market.
Therefore, Under Armour Company should evaluate the competitor s prices vividly and ensure that
they retain their market share.
Question 3
I would recommend that Under Amour to use cost based pricing strategy. The new shirt equipped with
LED lights seems to be very sophisticated and attractive. The pricing should focus on the value of the
shirt and convince customers to buy it. If the company descends son demand based strategy, it will be
upon satisfaction that customers have become aware of the brand and its advantages fully. A
competition based strategy would not work well as its competitors have a larger financial strength.
Under Armour should focus on building its financial strength in order to increase its market share and
new brand awareness.

The Discovery Of Saudi Arabia
I asked a friend of mine to come with me to visit the Asian Art Museum. I told him that the Museum is
exhibiting pieces of recent archeological discoveries of Saudi Arabia. Since we were both Saudis, we
felt curious to explore the museum for the first time. When we arrived to the museum, we paid 15
dollars each because we were adults. It was not until we finished our visit that we realized that we
could have used our student identification cards to pay only 10 dollars each. However, we did not feel
bad about it because we agreed that our visit was totally worth the price; if not, what we paid for the
entrance was very little.
Brief exploration of the Museum s galleries:
I was taking notes about my visit while exploring the content of the museum. The Asian Art Museum
is exclusively exhibiting recent discoveries of Saudi Arabia, under the title of Roads of Arabia. The
Roads of Arabia section is divided into four galleries. Each gallery contains objects that present a
theme. For example, the first gallery, which takes place in the Ocher gallery, has the theme of
Prehistoric Arabia. The gallery contains archeological objects and tools that date back to a million
years ago. Some archeological discoveries such as tools and stones show the presence of prehistoric
human settlements in today s Saudi Arabia. The theme of the second gallery is Incense Roads, as it is
held in the Hambrecht gallery. This gallery contains ancient objects that are associated with the

The Cause Of Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile Delinquency has been an issue in sociological and criminological context for decades. It is
basically at state when a person who is under the age of 18 years is antisocial and has a criminal
behavior. It has become a major social problem in the youth that is attracting a lot of youths to get into
crimes. Many researches have been done to find the cause of juvenile delinquency. Sociologists
explain this context using different theories. While investigating about the cause of juvenile
delinquency theorists come up with the factors associated with it such as racial status, gender
discrimination and the economic status. Childhood assaults are also seen as one of the factors that can
be in the form of sexual abuse or physical abuse faced by the child either in their family environment
or the school environment. Peer pressure as examined by many theorists provides a wide area for the
juvenile crimes to occur. The delinquent youth lack ethical standards and emotional feelings.
Impulsivity, social insensitivity and lack of guilt feeling make them perform socially unacceptable
behavior. They lose the ability to choose what is right and what is wrong. Juvenile delinquency rates
take a rise when young people see their fellow members of society as offenders. The way of them
being viewed as criminals in the society makes them more prone to become delinquents. The paper
discusses about the cause of juvenile delinquency and the problems that arise due to it. Later it would
focus on two sociological theories that would evaluate the criminal phenomenon.
In the criminal justice system juvenile delinquency is one of the highly rated problem. It is the society
itself that can increase the juvenile delinquency rates and on the other hand they are the ones who can
help deal this problem by reducing the crime. Among 1755 young students surveyed in Portugal,
29.4% reported they had committed at least one offence in their life time (Cardoso, Perista, Carrilho
Silva, 2013, p. 520). The problem arises when the adolescents or young people are unable to achieve
their dreams, than they try to take the path of crime by using illegal means to reach their expectations.
The probability of juvenile delinquency to take place

Summary Of Literary Modernism In The Waste Land
Literary modernism gained popularity in places like Europe and North America during the early 20th
century. Modernism was a rejection of old Victorian writing styles and a movement towards new and
experimental ideas. This denial of old ideals stemmed from the recently fought World War One. The
war, as well as the many atrocities that were witnessed during it, caused many people to reassess the
way they thought about the world and the direction it was heading. Modernist authors many of whom
fought in the war saw the world transforming before their eyes; they witnessed entire cities shift
towards modern day industrialization. Many authors saw this change as a movement away from the
common man and as a migration towards machines and equipment. This is evident in many prominent
modernist works of the time which were predominantly written in the first person to show these
changes and the effects they had on the average person. Authors tended to promote this self evaluation
and inquiry through symbolic narratives while using many different viewpoints. Specific
characteristics of a traditional modernist work include multiple viewpoints, secondary meanings or
allusions, and non traditional formatting. This break from tradition and the new form of writing style
has transformed modern literature as a whole and has produced some of the most well known writers
and poets of our generation.
T. S. Eliot s The Waste Land is a great example of a modernist work. Eliot implements

The Dream World of Salvador Dali As the Twentieth Century began, so did the era of Modernism.
Seen as a time of change from the traditional past, Modernists rebelled against anything having to do
with order in life. New technological advances and new ideas stirred a thirst for freedom in artistic
expression, and many artistic movements began. One of these movements, Surrealism, was the basis
for some of artist Salvador Dali s best works. His 1931 painting, The Persistence of Memory is one of
his best known paintings, reflecting the theme of Dali s life and that of the Surrealist Movement living

The work is small, and consists of a barren landscape composed of land, water, and sky. The sky is
barely light, but cliffs can be seen in the distance as the water laps on the edge of the land. On the
land, one sees a leafless tree, some sort of box shapes, and seemingly melting clocks, one covered
with ants. In the center of the painting, an odd face like shape appears to be sleeping on the ground.
One theory into the meaning of this painting is that the melting clocks represent what happens in life
over time, while the face represents Dali himself lost in the movement of time. Dali s intention was to
direct the viewer away from reality and into the dream like state that he so loved to portray in his
works from this

As the textbook states a vertical analysis is An analysis of a financial statement that reveals the
relationship of each statement item to its base amount, which is the 100% figure . In the balance sheet
it reports on the assets, liabilities, and stockholders equity of the business as of a specific date.
Liabilities are debts that are owed to creditors. Stockholder s equity is a corporation s equity that

challenges and how does this affect the nonverbal communication; and do you think this form of
communication causes inabilities to interact positively and work effectively with others. While
communicating through new technologies and social media can be challenging at times for some, one
must also remember that nonverbal behaviors can be important in establishing trust in working
relationships, but modern technologies may challenge our ability to maintain that trust (Nelson Quick,
2017, pg. 131). This is because too much of a good thing can cause harmful reactions when trying to

Written reports on the other hand give executives, managers, and supervisor s detailed information as

such as memo s and letter s which give more adequate information when communicating officially,

The Ethics Of Scientific Knowledge
Cortni Volkman
7/30/2015
Science surrounds just about every aspect of human interaction but where does this scientific
knowledge come from? The communication of scientific knowledge trickles in a fashion opposite to
that of the filtration of water through a carbon scrubber, where the highest concentration of pure
scientific knowledge exists within the prestigious community of scientists and scientific knowledge
within the academic and public communities has to be filtered from the other particles of ideas,
leaving much room for interpretation. This paper will explore these different interactions among
various communities and how it shapes communication of scientific knowledge. One such community
is that of the very scientists who do the research and publications which supply much of the scientific
knowledge we know today. However, research and publishing is heavily time consuming and
expensive so many scientist must seek out funding. Bias, or a conflict of interest, can be argued to
exist in all aspects of science depending on when and how results are obtained. It is without discourse
than to argue that all research, even that done at collegiate level, has some amount of bias whether
from the funding received, the council from professors or advisors, or the availability of more
advanced technology to obtain data (Krimsky 2012). Such bias from technological means can even
limit what scientists can publish. Often the military relies on scientists for their expertise in

What exactly is profiling is what many people wonder and they don t always get the right definition.
What they usually think first is that it is racial profiling and it is bad, we should not do it, but that s
only one type of profiling and it is not necessarily bad in all cases. The Merriam Webster dictionary
defines it as, the act of or process of learning information about someone based on what you already
know. Under the narrow definition, racial profiling occurs when a police officer stops, questions,
arrests, and/or searches someone solely on the basis of the person s race or ethnicity. Critics typically
use this definition when condemning racial profiling, as do law enforcement agencies when denying
the existence of racial profiling (Cleary). Most people think that the profiling is a bad thing because of
controversial topics like NYC s stop and frisk policy and from what the liberal news puts out. But in
most cases profiling is good for communities and helps to catch criminals before they can do harm.
The main difference between what people think and what profiling is comes down to two words
disparity and discrimination.
Disparity and discrimination are closely related but there is one major difference between them that
sets them far apart. Disparity is

How Did The British Invasion Influence American Culture
The British Invasion was a phenomenon that began in the 1960 s and has somehow kept itself alive
even to this day. Americans have been bombarded with British culture for years, and rather than shun
the differences, they have accepted them into their lives. Music, television, and literature in America
have all been changed due to British influence. In many different ways, the British Invasion has
greatly affected American culture. The early British invasion was an amazing time for music. The
American music culture blossomed and grew, leaving even today s public infatuated. During the early
years of the British Invasion, many American artists were put out of business. Of the few American
artists that did make it in the music business during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to most people, one band in particular pops into mind. For some, maybe it is The Who,
singing My Generation. However, more often than not, it is The Beatles who stand above the rest. The
Beatles are credited for being the main cause of the British invasion. They tried for many years to gain
the support and recognition of the American public, but to no avail. In 1963, The Beatles released a
single, trying to get onto the American charts, but it ended up only gaining popularity in England.
(Gilmore, Mikal) But on November 22, 1963, the unthinkable happens, and president John F. Kennedy
was shot and killed. After seeing how heartbroken the American public was, the Beatles swooped,
seeming to be the perfect antidote to their broken hearts. The beatles released another song, I Want to
Hold Your Hand, which quickly made it to number 1 on Billboard Hot 100 . At one point in their
careers, the band held down all top 5 positions on the national singles chart. They could not last
forever though, and on September 1969, John Lennon privately announced that he would be leaving
the group. The public did not know about the break up until April 10, 1970, when Paul McCartney
announced that he too was leaving the band. Though the Beatles were gone, many amazing British
artists have since followed in their footsteps. One Direction, Ed Sheeran, and The Rolling Stones are

Symptoms And Symptoms Of A Mental Disorder
A mental disorder is a diagnosis of a behavioral or mental pattern that can cause suffering or a poor
ability to function in ordinary life. Such features may be persistent, relapsing and remitting, or occur
as a single episode. Many disorders have been described, with signs and symptoms that vary widely
between specific disorders.
The causes of mental disorders are often unclear. Theories may incorporate findings from a range of
fields. Mental disorders are usually defined by a combination of how a person behaves, feels,
perceives or thinks.
Services are based in psychiatric hospitals or in the community, and assessments are carried out by
psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and clinical social workers, using various methods but often ...

DSM IV precedes the definition with caveats, stating that, as in the case with many medical terms,
mental disorder lacks a consistent operational definition that covers all situations , noting that different
levels of abstraction can be used for medical definitions, including pathology, symptomology,
deviance from a normal range, or etiology, and that the same is true for mental disorders, so that
sometimes one type of definition is appropriate, and sometimes another, depending on the situation.

Drinking Milk Is Unhealthy Essay
Introduction Throughout our lives we have been told that milk is good for our body and helps to
toughen our bones. Drinking milk started when people domesticated animals for food, which
happened around 7500 years ago in the central Balkans and central Europe. By that time consuming
milk was not as common as it is today. It was only farmers in some specific regions that were using
cow s milk. Milk s market grew the mass production of meat in the 15th century. Afterwards in the
17th century, the idea of eating out and going to restaurants was born and fast food industries, started
using animal s meat for producing their meals. The rate of milk users grew with the rate of meat users
and milk s market got bigger and bigger every day. Mothers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The other thing that we should consider before using dairy products is from the ethical point of view.
Drinking cow s milk or consuming any dairy product is equal to torturing thousands of cows, due to
changing their nature and way of living in order to make them useable for ourselves. It has become
evident that milk is not the only source and product that we can reach vitamins, proteins and calcium
from, in fact there are many natural and healthy products that we can reach out those factors that we
are looking for it in milk, for instance fruits. Contrary to common belief, people should stop
consuming milk because it is unhealthy, unnatural and unethical. Drinking milk is Unhealthy Unlike
what we have been thought, milk is unhealthy and it will cause many different diseases in human s
body. Even though that they try to limit the bacteria in raw milk before and after milking, but they just
can lower the level of bacteria, they can t remove all of it, and by drinking milk we transfer diseases to
our body (Garedew et al, 2012, p 950). Before milking they will sterilize cow s breast and also they
will inject antibiotics to lower the level of bacteria in cow s body. They also use sterilize milking
equipment so the bacteria available on the equipment will not reach cow s breast and directly milk.
With all those sterilized processes they still need to do the pasteurization process because of

Beer Classification Paper
The history of beer dates back hundreds of years prior to written history. Besides water and tea, beer is
one of the most frequently consumed beverages in the world. Contrary to popular belief, that all beers
are typically the same, there are many variances in color, flavor, strength, production method,
ingredients and origin. Beer can be divided into 2 broad sub categories: ale and lager. Ales were the
first type of beer ever created before brewers knew the role yeast played during the beer making
process. Ale yeasts flocculate at the top of the fermentation tank and are brewed from malted barley
using a warm fermentation. The yeast ferments the beer quickly, which gives it a full bodied and fruity
taste. They also contain hops, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Something else that adds to the taste of a beer, are additional ingredients. The last major difference
between ales and lagers are there supplementary ingredients. Ales typically have more of a malty taste,
due to an elevated amount of hops, malts, and roasted malts that are added during production. Ale
brewers, typically have more leeway with how they produce their beer, and tend to add a several
different ingredients during brewing, like the ones mentioned above. These extra ingredients are
referred to as, adjuncts. Brewers of lagers only have a few, simple ingredients: malted grain, hops,
yeast, and water. The production method of lagers is somewhat due to the stringent Reinheitsgebot
Law, also known as the German beer purity law . This law prohibits any adjuncts during the brewing
process of lagers, only permitting water, barely, and hops as ingredients. Tea and water maybe two of
the most consumed beverages in the world, but beer is right behind in a close third. Beer is gradually
becoming more and more popular. This is evident through the new trends of beer companies that have
begun to accommodate for the new low calorie beer trend. Corona, Heineken, and Anheuser Busch
have led the pack by producing Corona Lite , Heineken Lite , and Budweiser Select . With more and
more companies attending to these trends, beer has broadened their target market. Overall, these
companies are innovating the deeply historic

Haitian Voodoo Research Paper
INTRODUCTION
To me, when the word Voodoo is spoken it resonates images in my head of black magic, potions, and
voodoo dolls. Similarly, many of you can relate to having these same, similar thoughts. Thus, in this
paper, I will delve into what Voodoo truly is and discuss some of the important nursing implications of
this particular type of religion. As such, in the following paragraphs, I plan to discuss the origin of
Haitian Voodoo and their views on the teaching and values related to illness, prolongation of life
through extraordinary means, euthanasia, donation of body parts, autopsy, burial and disposal of the
body, funeral rites, and hospice.
ORIGIN OF VOODOO
The origin of voodoo began back in the 16th century and was created by enslaved Africans who were
taken from their homeland in order to be sold into black slavery, in what was formerly know Santo
Domingo in 1647 (Tann, 2012). Not to mention that it was not uncommon for slaves to have an
expected lifespan of a year to two upon arrival to Haiti due to the harsh working conditions they had
to endure (Tann, 2012). Moreover, in the next couple of centuries, the country of Haiti would face
government corruption, revolts, and bloodshed. However, despite these ... Show more content on

Catholicism roots and many of those practices that are said to be Voodoo, are not. For instance,
voodoo dolls are not associated or have ever originated with this practice (Tann, 2012). In fact, it has
ancient Egyptian roots that were then adopted by Greco Roman which then found its way to medieval
and Renaissance magicians. In contrast, to Haitian Voodoo New Orleans Voodoo and Hoodoo, do use
Voodoo dolls in their practice. Occasionally, in Haitian Voodoo, dolls will be used but it is only used

moved to Paris where he secured a job of repairing direct current power plants with the Edison
company.at one point in life Tesla was considered an eccentric man who talked about rays that could
destroy 10,000 plains in 250 miles. He devised the AC (alternating current) system which is used in
most homes today because it was advantageous than direct current system. His transformers help
regulate the AC voltage, it could be stepped up or down and be transmitted over long distances
through thin wires, minimizing power loss across long distances. The direct current system had a lot
of inefficiencies, it could not be transported to long distances due to its inability to step to higher
voltage levels. He also invented electric motors that are used by every house hold. He invented

The Distributive Style Of Negotiation
How do we explore getting more in the deal than what was originally discussed? Some may not feel
making the deal should mean adding more to it than the original bargain There is a lot of, what is in it
for me? And what do we get out of this deal? Negotiation deals have either integrative or distributive
properties. What are the contrasts between these two styles and what are their comparisons? This
paper will explore the styles and how they are able to help expand the deal. The distributive style of
negotiation is where both parties discuss a fixed sum or end state. Usually, one of the sides loses and
the other gains. A gain by one side is made at the expense of the other. This is also known as a zero
sum negotiation (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). The integrative negotiation allows both parties to
cooperate and achieve maximum outcomes from the agreement. It is done by allowing both sides to
integrate their interests into the agreement. Each side makes trade offs to get the things it values most,
giving up other, less critical factors (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). These two styles are the basics of
negotiation. One is more helpful in expanding the deal. The term, expanding the pie , should be
interpreted as building a larger agreement. Remember, it is not about gaining power at the expense of
other. Your having more power doesn t mean less power for the other person. The pie is expanded

Response To Marmot s The Status Syndrome
In The Status Syndrome, Marmot argues that socioeconomic conditions lead to a hierarchical health
gradient, where mortality progressively decreases as one s socioeconomic status improves. He
illustrates this using mortality rate data about workers in the British civil service from the Whitehall
studies. The studies show that mortality in all age groups is higher for clerical workers, who earn less
and have a lower social standing, as compared to other professionals. Moreover, administrators, who
earn more than both these groups, have the lowest mortality rates, which shows a gradient in health.
Additionally, none of these workers are in poverty, and have access to medical care, which further
highlights that the health gradient is a phenomenon

Banquet At Dunsinane
Banquet at Dunsinane
In Macbeth the scene of the banquet at Dunsinane shows the guilt of Macbeth, reveals to us the extent
of his madness and marks the suspicion of the Scottish lords. Macbeth shows the audience the extent
of his insanity, rouses suspicion from the Scottish lords and contributes to the overarching theme of
guilt. Macbeth s constant shouting at the apparition shows how far gone he is. It marks his lack of self
control in the face of his guilt, his fear of being discovered and refusal to come to terms with what he
has done. Likewise the lords see this outburst and are clued into Macbeth s usurping of power by his
blaming of others, he makes himself suspicious and tells them of his murdering Banquo. Macbeth s
quilt here develops a theme of guilt in the play
Macbeth shows the Scottish lords that he has bodies in his closet by the way he speaks making
reference to haunting spirits, trying to shift the blame of his actions onto others and by referencing the
murders he has made. In many religions the soul of a body lives on after death and continues the life
of the person, Macbeth possibly believing this in his fit of anger at the apparition infront of him says

Washington Irving And The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
Washington Irving was born in New York City on April 3, 1783 ( Washington Irving ). As a teenager,
he traveled through Europe for seventeen years ( Washington Irving ). The experience gave him an
appreciation for a culture deeply rooted in a rich history ( Washington Irving ). His distinguished list
of works became well known in America and in England, and his success allowed him to be
recognized as the father of American Literature ( Washington Irving ). Irving was the first American
writer to establish the new American identity through his writings, as a result, he is esteemed as one of
the inventors of the short story ( Washington Irving ). One of Irving s more famous short stories, The
Legend of Sleepy Hollow , was published in 1820 ( Washington Irving ). The Legend of Sleepy
Hollow is not merely a significant work of early American fiction, it established the framework for a
new style of American folklore in a nation that lacked the historical richness of the European culture; a
nation striving to achieve a new identity. It reveals the struggle that emerges as the new American
culture must define itself and forge a new way forward. Irving was attempting to establish himself as a
serious writer in a time when many Americans viewed such pursuits as folly. The focus of building
houses and growing crops took precedence over the arts, including literature. The typical early
American writings prior to Irving consisted of journals recording the day to day life in the

The Hunger Games and the Lottery Comparison Essay
My two books for this comparison essay are The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, and The Hunger Games
by Suzanne Collins. The Lottery is about the towns people drawing out slips of paper and seeing who

her sister s place when she she s called into the Hunger Games and trying to survive in the arena with
Peeta in the Hunger Games. This book ends with Katniss and Peeta winning the Hunger Games and
the two of them returning to District 12 with mixed feelings for each other, and an unforgettable

As a sacrifice for a good harvest. So you can see they both have some similarities; one of them being,
they are both barbaric when it comes to rituals. The settings of these two books are different, because
The Hunger Games mainly takes place in the arena, and The Lottery takes place in a public town spot.
In The Lottery , there s really no romance, but in The Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta are shown to
the world as a couple. I think is actually a good tactic when trying to get sponsors and surviving
because Peeta does protect Katniss and I believe he really does have feelings for her, as she does for
him. Katniss is confused about her feelings for Gale, I think that she probably does care for Gale, but
personally I think she cares for Peeta more. Otherwise why would she have risked her life for for him?
Like when each district got a pack, and she ended up giving Peeta the sleeping syrup so she could go
get the pack so Peeta could survive. There were also many differences between these two books. At
first Tessie didn t know she was the one that was going to be the one getting stoned to death literally;
but when Katniss volunteered to take Prim s place in the Hunger Games, she knew that she was
risking her life. Tessie wasn t prepared for the stoning, whereas Katniss was put into training and
could defend herself is she were attacked. These two books are different because The Hunger Games

Why Do We Need The Electoral College
I believe that we don t need the Electoral College for multiple reasons. One of the reasons have to do
with technology and another reason has to do with power. There are more reasons as well. While I
believe that we don t need the Electoral College, if we go with the popular vote then we could run into
issues like the candidates won t actually get more than half of America s vote.
The first reason that I think that we should go with the popular vote is that while the people back then
needed the Electoral College, we don t anymore. Since we have modern technology, we can be
informed by searching the candidates views. Another evidence that we are informed is that there has
only been five times where the popular vote would have given a different president than what the
Electoral college would have picked. That means that the citizens of America are about as informed as
the people in the Electoral college.
The second reason that we should have the people vote instead of the Electoral college is that the
people who aren t part of the Electoral College don t have a say in who our president will be. The only
people who actually have a say is the people involved in the electoral college and that is only 538
people. There are more than 300 million people who should actually get to choose. Another evidence
that we don t need the Electoral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

evidence would be that the candidates would not have any regional favorites because using electoral

The Increasing Weight Of The Union
The increasing weight of the Union since its creation in 1951 has elevated the community to the
international stage as an indubitable power and encouraged the debate about the characterization of
the EU, fostered by the involvement from European political science scholars. Scholars have came up
with a sui generis definition of the EU in the sense that it neither is an intergovernmental organization
nor a federal state.4 Still, the novelty of the Union does not bound itself to the definition of the nature
of European institutional set up. Indeed, the discussion between scholars goes further towards the
characterization of the European power.
To understand Manner s theory, let us first have a look at its inspirations. The concept of civilian
power (CP) was mostly developed by F.DuchĂȘne in 1973. He defined it as a civilian group long on
economic power and relatively short on armed forces .5 This concept can be said to be the basis of
Manners NPE theory. Moravcsik deepened F.DuchĂȘne s definition arguing that the EU s CP «does not
lie in the deployment of battalions or bomber, but rather in the quiet promotion of democracy and
development through trade, foreign aid and peacekeeping». 6 In a word, both definitions imply that
CP privileges means others than military ones in its foreign policy. As a matter of fact, the civilian
conceptualization of Europe puts the emphasis on negociacion, multilateralism, economic instruments
and diplomacy rather than privileging a

Strategic Challenges And The Global Security Environment
The central problem discussed in this paper is to determine the general capabilities needed to
rebalance the Joint Force 2025 (JF25) considering the current strategic challenges and the global
security environment. This paper proposes that the JF25 focus on its competitive advantages and
curtail ineffective and expensive programs to preserve its ground forces capability to provide
deterrence and defeat capabilities critical to our National Strategic Objectives. To support this
position, this paper articulates the emerging threats to U.S. National Interests and highlights the key
strategic direction of published Department of Defense (DoD) strategy and strategic concepts.
Secondly, this proposal provides the broad capabilities that the JF25 must aggregate from each service
of the DoD. Finally, this paper articulates and mitigates the inherent risks to its proposed capabilities.
The emerging threats to U.S. National Interests are several. At the same time, sequestration magnifies
the criticality of miscalculated capability decisions. The persistent threat trends of 2025 include the
proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the rise of modern competitor states, violent extremism,
irregular warfare, regional instability, transnational criminal activity, competition for resources, and
lone actors. The National Military Strategy (NMS) of 2015 breaks down future threats into the

  • 2. Salt Marsh Research Paper Kylie McGovern Professor Ted Maney Bio 131 L24 10 October 2014 The Salt Marsh Ecosystem A Salt Marsh is an extremely important ecosystem. It is home to a variety of both plants and animals. Salt Marshes have distinct characteristic that separate them from other ecosystems. These characteristics force any plant or animal living there to have ways to adapt to the sometimes extreme environments in order to survive and thrive. Salt Marshes are not only biologically important, they also have economic and physical importance. We found many different plants and organisms while exploring the Salt Marsh on the Salem State campus. Salt Marshes contain great biodiversity, while functioning as sources of biological, physical, and economic importance. Salt Marshes are coastal wetlands that are drained and flooded by tides. There are channels that wind through the marshes and empty into pools. A Salt Marsh has great biodiversity because it provides different habitats. There are muddy areas, pools with different depths, and a variety of grasses. This makes it the perfect home for organisms such as birds, insects and worms, fish, snails, crabs, and different mussels and clams. According to the National Ocean Service, the characteristic ... In New England we experience four distinct seasons, so organisms must be able to adapt to that. They must also be able to withstand the daily water level changes caused by the tides. While in the marsh. My group saw a lot of dead fish in a dried up pool, while only a foot or so away there were more of the same species of fish thriving in the muddy water. Organisms living in the water must also adjust to different concentrations of salt in the water, depending on the ratio of salt and fresh water. Through the lens of her Christian upbringing, ten Boom articulately recounts her life s journey from a small child living in a bustling Dutch city to a vapid, malnourished prisoner of the German Nazis. Through her life s struggle, she hopes to inspire others and teach a new generation about the value of life and the innate capacity that all possess to fully love one another. Through the Bulldog s anecdotes of harassment and difficulty, she was able to personalize the wrath of the German soldiers. She experienced first hand the effects that the persecution had on Haarlem s Jews. Over the next few weeks, Jews began furtively arriving at the Beje under the cover of night in order to escape their captors. Corrie, Betsie, and their father welcomed these new guests with open arms, but the ten Booms knew that the Jews would not be able to stay for very long. Ration cards were scarce and food would soon run out. Corrie turned to her brother Willem, who worked with the Underground Resistance. Willem arranged for the transportation of the Jews to the countryside, but Corrie knew that his help would only last for so long. For her to be successful at helping the Jews, she needed to make her own connections and arrange her own system of dealings. She arranged for ration cards to be dropped off at the Beje, kept in contact with the Resistance s top leaders, and had alarm systems and a secret hiding place in her room built. The Beje turned into the hub of the Jewish underground movement in Haarlem under the guise of a petty watch repair shop. Putting their personal safety at risk week after week, month after month, the ten Booms oversaw hundreds of Jews taken to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Chemical Reactions And Factors That Affect The Rate Of A... Reactions occur everywhere, and they may take decades, such as fossils, or only seconds, such as lighting a match to occur. Chemical kinetics concerns the rates of chemical reactions and what factors affects these rates (Iodine Clock, 2017). Temperature, concentration, pressure of reacting gases, surface area of reacting solids and the use of catalysts are all factors which affect the rate of a reaction (Bbc.co.uk, 2017). This is because they affect the reaction roles and yields of activation energy, product management and reactant management (William, 2017). This is accomplished by making changes to the concentration, pressure or temperature of a reaction to alter the position of the equilibrium (Bbc.co.uk, 2017). Accordingly, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was further identified that typically for every 10oC temperature rise, the reaction rate would double (Del Mundo et al., 2016) (Clark, 2017). Throughout the Landolt Iodine Clock Reaction, chemical equilibria are clearly demonstrated through the delayed colour change of combining two colourless solutions to form a dark blue solution. The overall chemical reaction for this is as follows: 2IO 3(aq) + 5HSO 3(aq) + 2H (aq) → I2 + 5HSO 4(aq) + H20(l) Iodate ions + Bisulfite ions + hydronium ions → Iodine + Bisulfate + water (Iodine Clock, 2017) The individual steps of the reaction are: (1) IO3 (aq) + 3HSO3 (aq) → I (aq) + 3SO4 (aq) + 3H+(aq) Iodate + Bisulfite → Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions (2) IO3 (aq) + 5I (aq) + 6H+aq) → 3I2(aq) + 3H2O(l) Iodate + Iodide + Hydronium ions → Iodine + Water (3) I2(aq) + HSO3 (aq) + H2O(l) → 2I (aq) +SO4 (aq) +3H+(aq) Iodine + Bisulfite + Water → Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions (4) I2(aq) + I (aq) + starch → dark blue starch I3 complex Iodine + Iodide + starch → dark blue starch I3 complex (Iodine Clock Reaction, 2015) The first reaction is the rate determining step, and hence, determines the order of the reaction. The equilibria is delayed in this reaction due to any of the iodine produced, immediately reacting with any bisulfite still present, before then being converted into colourless iodide (reaction 2). The Logic Of English Land Law As it has been a substantial part of the Land Registration Act 2002, I would like to look into the process of electronic conveyancing and how it supports my argument that the logic of English land law had been changed through the Act to a more rational, market efficient way. The Land Register was empowered to set up a Land Registry Network , this network could go beyond the legal aspect of the transaction and could cover the whole transaction from the point when a property is put on sale . The formalities of electronic dispositions were also introduced in the Act. The electronic document now had to stipulate its effective time and date, as well as to include electronic signatures of all the parties by whom it purports to be authenticated plus every electronic signature has to be certified. If an electric document complied with these formalities, it was to be regarded by law as a written deed, signed by each individual and sealed by each corporation . Another important concept development was network access agreement where the lawyers would be allowed to make changes to the title or the cautions register without involving the land registry officers. There were rules imposed on regulation of the network and in order to enter into a network access agreement an applicant had to fulfill criteria. The Act has also set out that whenever there was a conflict, the overriding nature of the obligation owed under the network access agreement, such obligation would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Christian Mission Book Review Essay Christian Mission Book Review Part two begins with David Livingstone, a Scottish missionary, and a professional doctor. He was very interested in exploration and his main goal was to stop Portuguese and Arab slave trade, he believed in human self worth. He got his men and his supplies and started his voyage to Africa to map Africa, he was successful at mapping most of Zambezi. Livingstone was accused of not being a real missionary and he was too political but he always made sure he was working with God in mind. Livingstone died at the age of 60 in 1873 defending the African s freedom. His people cut out his heart and buried it, the rest of his body was mummified and taken to Westminster Abbey to be buried, as he wished. A statue was built in his honor with the base reading, Missionary, Explorer, Liberator . Livingstone is one example of how much political and economic power a Christian missionary can have. He also encouraged the work of the Jesuits in China. The western power and missionaries have created bad names for the social/cultural changes or for being connected with colonialism, imperialism, westernity, and modernity mostly by the missionaries. Some say that Christianity has challenged or strengthened the local power. Scientific racism first came up in the 1850s Joseph Arthur de Gobineu s book called Essi sur l inegalite des races humanines. This is important because the company still has two weaknesses. The company has a slim financial strength and a slim market share (5%). If the company makes a mistake of over pricing, it may lose the already existing customers as well as the market share it has. The competitors are also likely to use their financial strength to fight the brand in the market. Therefore, Under Armour Company should evaluate the competitor s prices vividly and ensure that they retain their market share. Question 3 I would recommend that Under Amour to use cost based pricing strategy. The new shirt equipped with LED lights seems to be very sophisticated and attractive. The pricing should focus on the value of the shirt and convince customers to buy it. If the company descends son demand based strategy, it will be upon satisfaction that customers have become aware of the brand and its advantages fully. A competition based strategy would not work well as its competitors have a larger financial strength. Under Armour should focus on building its financial strength in order to increase its market share and new brand awareness. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I told him that the Museum is exhibiting pieces of recent archeological discoveries of Saudi Arabia. Since we were both Saudis, we felt curious to explore the museum for the first time. When we arrived to the museum, we paid 15 dollars each because we were adults. It was not until we finished our visit that we realized that we could have used our student identification cards to pay only 10 dollars each. However, we did not feel bad about it because we agreed that our visit was totally worth the price; if not, what we paid for the entrance was very little. Brief exploration of the Museum s galleries: I was taking notes about my visit while exploring the content of the museum. The Asian Art Museum is exclusively exhibiting recent discoveries of Saudi Arabia, under the title of Roads of Arabia. The Roads of Arabia section is divided into four galleries. Each gallery contains objects that present a theme. For example, the first gallery, which takes place in the Ocher gallery, has the theme of Prehistoric Arabia. The gallery contains archeological objects and tools that date back to a million years ago. Some archeological discoveries such as tools and stones show the presence of prehistoric human settlements in today s Saudi Arabia. • 14. The Cause Of Juvenile Delinquency Juvenile Delinquency has been an issue in sociological and criminological context for decades. It is basically at state when a person who is under the age of 18 years is antisocial and has a criminal behavior. It has become a major social problem in the youth that is attracting a lot of youths to get into crimes. Many researches have been done to find the cause of juvenile delinquency. Sociologists explain this context using different theories. While investigating about the cause of juvenile delinquency theorists come up with the factors associated with it such as racial status, gender discrimination and the economic status. Childhood assaults are also seen as one of the factors that can be in the form of sexual abuse or physical abuse faced by the child either in their family environment or the school environment. Peer pressure as examined by many theorists provides a wide area for the juvenile crimes to occur. The delinquent youth lack ethical standards and emotional feelings. Impulsivity, social insensitivity and lack of guilt feeling make them perform socially unacceptable behavior. They lose the ability to choose what is right and what is wrong. Juvenile delinquency rates take a rise when young people see their fellow members of society as offenders. The way of them being viewed as criminals in the society makes them more prone to become delinquents. The paper discusses about the cause of juvenile delinquency and the problems that arise due to it. Later it would focus on two sociological theories that would evaluate the criminal phenomenon. In the criminal justice system juvenile delinquency is one of the highly rated problem. It is the society itself that can increase the juvenile delinquency rates and on the other hand they are the ones who can help deal this problem by reducing the crime. Among 1755 young students surveyed in Portugal, 29.4% reported they had committed at least one offence in their life time (Cardoso, Perista, Carrilho Silva, 2013, p. 520). The problem arises when the adolescents or young people are unable to achieve their dreams, than they try to take the path of crime by using illegal means to reach their expectations. • 15. Summary Of Literary Modernism In The Waste Land Literary modernism gained popularity in places like Europe and North America during the early 20th century. Modernism was a rejection of old Victorian writing styles and a movement towards new and experimental ideas. This denial of old ideals stemmed from the recently fought World War One. The war, as well as the many atrocities that were witnessed during it, caused many people to reassess the way they thought about the world and the direction it was heading. Modernist authors many of whom fought in the war saw the world transforming before their eyes; they witnessed entire cities shift towards modern day industrialization. Many authors saw this change as a movement away from the common man and as a migration towards machines and equipment. This is evident in many prominent modernist works of the time which were predominantly written in the first person to show these changes and the effects they had on the average person. Authors tended to promote this self evaluation and inquiry through symbolic narratives while using many different viewpoints. Specific characteristics of a traditional modernist work include multiple viewpoints, secondary meanings or allusions, and non traditional formatting. This break from tradition and the new form of writing style has transformed modern literature as a whole and has produced some of the most well known writers and poets of our generation. T. S. The communication of scientific knowledge trickles in a fashion opposite to that of the filtration of water through a carbon scrubber, where the highest concentration of pure scientific knowledge exists within the prestigious community of scientists and scientific knowledge within the academic and public communities has to be filtered from the other particles of ideas, leaving much room for interpretation. Ale brewers, typically have more leeway with how they produce their beer, and tend to add a several different ingredients during brewing, like the ones mentioned above. Some may not feel making the deal should mean adding more to it than the original bargain There is a lot of, what is in it for me? And what do we get out of this deal? Negotiation deals have either integrative or distributive properties. What are the contrasts between these two styles and what are their comparisons? This paper will explore the styles and how they are able to help expand the deal. The distributive style of negotiation is where both parties discuss a fixed sum or end state. Usually, one of the sides loses and the other gains. A gain by one side is made at the expense of the other. This is also known as a zero sum negotiation (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). The integrative negotiation allows both parties to cooperate and achieve maximum outcomes from the agreement. It is done by allowing both sides to integrate their interests into the agreement. Each side makes trade offs to get the things it values most, giving up other, less critical factors (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). These two styles are the basics of negotiation. One is more helpful in expanding the deal. The term, expanding the pie , should be interpreted as building a larger agreement. Remember, it is not about gaining power at the expense of other. Your having more power doesn t mean less power for the other person. The pie is expanded (Diamond, S., 2010). What is expanding the pie? It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Response To Marmot s The Status Syndrome In The Status Syndrome, Marmot argues that socioeconomic conditions lead to a hierarchical health gradient, where mortality progressively decreases as one s socioeconomic status improves. He illustrates this using mortality rate data about workers in the British civil service from the Whitehall studies. The studies show that mortality in all age groups is higher for clerical workers, who earn less and have a lower social standing, as compared to other professionals. Moreover, administrators, who earn more than both these groups, have the lowest mortality rates, which shows a gradient in health. Additionally, none of these workers are in poverty, and have access to medical care, which further highlights that the health gradient is a phenomenon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Banquet At Dunsinane Banquet at Dunsinane In Macbeth the scene of the banquet at Dunsinane shows the guilt of Macbeth, reveals to us the extent of his madness and marks the suspicion of the Scottish lords. Macbeth shows the audience the extent of his insanity, rouses suspicion from the Scottish lords and contributes to the overarching theme of guilt. Macbeth s constant shouting at the apparition shows how far gone he is. It marks his lack of self control in the face of his guilt, his fear of being discovered and refusal to come to terms with what he has done. Likewise the lords see this outburst and are clued into Macbeth s usurping of power by his blaming of others, he makes himself suspicious and tells them of his murdering Banquo. Macbeth s quilt here develops a theme of guilt in the play Macbeth shows the Scottish lords that he has bodies in his closet by the way he speaks making reference to haunting spirits, trying to shift the blame of his actions onto others and by referencing the murders he has made. In many religions the soul of a body lives on after death and continues the life of the person, Macbeth possibly believing this in his fit of anger at the apparition infront of him says ... Our monuments/ shall be the maw of Kites Shakespeare.III.iv.120 121. Kites meaning vultures, scavenge for food by eating dead bodies. • 30. Washington Irving And The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow Washington Irving was born in New York City on April 3, 1783 ( Washington Irving ). As a teenager, he traveled through Europe for seventeen years ( Washington Irving ). The experience gave him an appreciation for a culture deeply rooted in a rich history ( Washington Irving ). His distinguished list of works became well known in America and in England, and his success allowed him to be recognized as the father of American Literature ( Washington Irving ). Irving was the first American writer to establish the new American identity through his writings, as a result, he is esteemed as one of the inventors of the short story ( Washington Irving ). One of Irving s more famous short stories, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow , was published in 1820 ( Washington Irving ). The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is not merely a significant work of early American fiction, it established the framework for a new style of American folklore in a nation that lacked the historical richness of the European culture; a nation striving to achieve a new identity. It reveals the struggle that emerges as the new American culture must define itself and forge a new way forward. Irving was attempting to establish himself as a serious writer in a time when many Americans viewed such pursuits as folly. The focus of building houses and growing crops took precedence over the arts, including literature. The typical early American writings prior to Irving consisted of journals recording the day to day life in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Hunger Games and the Lottery Comparison Essay My two books for this comparison essay are The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The Lottery is about the towns people drawing out slips of paper and seeing who gets the slip of paper with the black pencil dot; whereas The Hunger Games is about Katniss taking her sister s place when she she s called into the Hunger Games and trying to survive in the arena with Peeta in the Hunger Games. This book ends with Katniss and Peeta winning the Hunger Games and the two of them returning to District 12 with mixed feelings for each other, and an unforgettable experience. There are many similarities between these two books. Both stories have mind blowing experiences. Tessie throwing a fit about her husband ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a sacrifice for a good harvest. So you can see they both have some similarities; one of them being, they are both barbaric when it comes to rituals. The settings of these two books are different, because The Hunger Games mainly takes place in the arena, and The Lottery takes place in a public town spot. In The Lottery , there s really no romance, but in The Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta are shown to the world as a couple. I think is actually a good tactic when trying to get sponsors and surviving because Peeta does protect Katniss and I believe he really does have feelings for her, as she does for him. Katniss is confused about her feelings for Gale, I think that she probably does care for Gale, but personally I think she cares for Peeta more. Otherwise why would she have risked her life for for him? Like when each district got a pack, and she ended up giving Peeta the sleeping syrup so she could go get the pack so Peeta could survive. There were also many differences between these two books. At first Tessie didn t know she was the one that was going to be the one getting stoned to death literally; but when Katniss volunteered to take Prim s place in the Hunger Games, she knew that she was risking her life. Tessie wasn t prepared for the stoning, whereas Katniss was put into training and could defend herself is she were attacked. These two books are different because The Hunger Games is more of a young adult book, and The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some may look for a specific location for convenience, or to move away from home, while others may look for a specific curriculum, or even a specialized sports or music program. However, how would your decision be swayed, if you knew that you would be required to perform twenty five hours of community service per academic year. Although to some that may seem like a large number, but in reality, On an average weekday, full time university and college students spent 3.3 hours engaged in educational activities, 2.4 hours working, 8.7 hours sleeping, and spent 4.1 hours in leisure and sports activities. • 35. Why Do We Need The Electoral College I believe that we don t need the Electoral College for multiple reasons. One of the reasons have to do with technology and another reason has to do with power. There are more reasons as well. While I believe that we don t need the Electoral College, if we go with the popular vote then we could run into issues like the candidates won t actually get more than half of America s vote. The first reason that I think that we should go with the popular vote is that while the people back then needed the Electoral College, we don t anymore. Since we have modern technology, we can be informed by searching the candidates views. Another evidence that we are informed is that there has only been five times where the popular vote would have given a different president than what the Electoral college would have picked. That means that the citizens of America are about as informed as the people in the Electoral college. The second reason that we should have the people vote instead of the Electoral college is that the people who aren t part of the Electoral College don t have a say in who our president will be. The only people who actually have a say is the people involved in the electoral college and that is only 538 people. There are more than 300 million people who should actually get to choose. Another evidence that we don t need the Electoral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we went by the popular vote, the candidates would go only to places with the largest amount of population like Texas, California, New York, and Florida. A second piece of evidence would be that the candidates would not have any regional favorites because using electoral college, no region has enough electoral votes to win an ... • 36. The Increasing Weight Of The Union The increasing weight of the Union since its creation in 1951 has elevated the community to the international stage as an indubitable power and encouraged the debate about the characterization of the EU, fostered by the involvement from European political science scholars. Scholars have came up with a sui generis definition of the EU in the sense that it neither is an intergovernmental organization nor a federal state.4 Still, the novelty of the Union does not bound itself to the definition of the nature of European institutional set up. Indeed, the discussion between scholars goes further towards the characterization of the European power. To understand Manner s theory, let us first have a look at its inspirations. The concept of civilian power (CP) was mostly developed by F.DuchĂȘne in 1973. He defined it as a civilian group long on economic power and relatively short on armed forces .5 This concept can be said to be the basis of Manners NPE theory. Moravcsik deepened F.DuchĂȘne s definition arguing that the EU s CP «does not lie in the deployment of battalions or bomber, but rather in the quiet promotion of democracy and development through trade, foreign aid and peacekeeping». 6 In a word, both definitions imply that CP privileges means others than military ones in its foreign policy. As a matter of fact, the civilian conceptualization of Europe puts the emphasis on negociacion, multilateralism, economic instruments and diplomacy rather than privileging a ... Hands on method of learning are more efficient for a kinesthetic learner; they prefer to use their body and sense of touch in tackling a problem instead of reading through the instructions (Vark, 2014). Kinesthetic learners are also known as doers. They rather start doing an activity instead of thinking about initiating an action. • 38. Strategic Challenges And The Global Security Environment The central problem discussed in this paper is to determine the general capabilities needed to rebalance the Joint Force 2025 (JF25) considering the current strategic challenges and the global security environment. This paper proposes that the JF25 focus on its competitive advantages and curtail ineffective and expensive programs to preserve its ground forces capability to provide deterrence and defeat capabilities critical to our National Strategic Objectives. To support this position, this paper articulates the emerging threats to U.S. National Interests and highlights the key strategic direction of published Department of Defense (DoD) strategy and strategic concepts. Secondly, this proposal provides the broad capabilities that the JF25 must aggregate from each service of the DoD. Finally, this paper articulates and mitigates the inherent risks to its proposed capabilities. The emerging threats to U.S. National Interests are several. At the same time, sequestration magnifies the criticality of miscalculated capability decisions. The persistent threat trends of 2025 include the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the rise of modern competitor states, violent extremism, irregular warfare, regional instability, transnational criminal activity, competition for resources, and lone actors. The National Military Strategy (NMS) of 2015 breaks down future threats into the categories of revisionist states and violent extremist organizations, while recognizing the ...
