Nylon 6-6 is a synthetic polyamide produced from adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine. It has high tensile strength, flexibility, and resistance to heat, chemicals and abrasion. Nylon 6-6 is manufactured through a continuous polymerization process where the monomers are combined to form molten nylon 6-6, which is then extruded and spun into filaments. Common applications of nylon 6-6 include carpets, tires, conveyor belts, hoses and other mechanical parts previously made of metal.
