Reasons to Turn Someone Down
You should write a letter of recommendation only if you can honestly write a supportive letter for
someone for a given position. After all, a letter of recommendation is supposed to be a tool for
helping people obtain what they are after. If you don t know the candidate well enough to write a
good letter, let the person know. He or she will probably ask someone else. If you do know the
candidate well but have some reservations, let the person know about your concerns, and leave it
up to him or her to decide whether you should still write the letter.
PREPARATION
Read Some Sample Letters
If you have never written a letter of recommendation before, read a stack of reference letters to see
what works and what doesn t. Most faculty have access to graduate student applications and the
letters submitted. Junior faculty can also ask their more experienced colleagues to share sample
letters they have written or have received from applicants (blocking out names and other personal
information). The resource section of this chapter provides links to sample letters.
Collect Information
Once you know what a letter of recommendation looks like, make sure you find out as much as
possible about the candidate for whom you are writing. One of the worst things you can do is to
write a letter that is too generic. Ask for the following information:
T i p : When reading a sample

Compare And Contrast Dominican Republic And New York
Growing up as a child living in a Dominican household I have always heard that living in the
Dominican Republic and living in New york are complete two different environments and
lifestyles. Everybody who lives in the Dominican Republic has this american dream to come to
New York because it is a better environment and lifestyle. Two different things about the
Dominican Republic and New York is the weather and life style at home. When I was younger I
personally witness the lifestyle people lived in the Dominican Republic compared to New york.
In 2008 I visited my grandma home town in Santo domingo the capital of the Dominican
Republic where her home when you drive by was a house made of metal scraps and wood.
Compared to New york the house are made of bricks and wood. Besides that the biggest
difference of both lifestyle is the living environment of insides the homes. My grandmother use
to tell me that before I visited the Dominican Republic inside her home there was no doors in any
bedroom or bathroom, there was barely working lights on certain days, and worse part of all there
no hot water. She explained to me that they had to boil the water to a simmer to make it hot.Where

everywhere you exit to go outside it feels like that . The weather in the Dominican Republic is
beyond summer then New York it s a combination of hotness and rain every day, where in New

we go through a lot of snow and coldness. Either way there are both completely different

Before Night Falls Essay
Before Night Falls
In the novel, Before Night Falls by Reinaldo Arenas who lived from 1943 to 1990, the author
conveys many subjects and captures the reader to the full extent. Reinaldo Arenas, the author and
the person who lived the experience writes this book for us in hopes of capturing our feelings and
sympathy of the Cuban Revolution. Arenas wrote over twenty books, including ten novels and
numerous short stories and poems. Arenas was not the only writer affected though as he states that,
All the literature of this century is somewhat burdened by the theme of uprootedness, (Arenas, 36)
which means every piece of literature surrounded the system of being exiled or the fear of being
caught or doing wrong and being thrown out to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book opens to the succulent, splendor forest, full of vivid emotion and color where Arenas
started the beginning of his life in Oriente Province, Cuba. The setting is one of poverty, but the
natural world around him seemed to be beautiful and dazzling. Arenas shows this by saying, The
splendor of my childhood was unique because of its absolute poverty and absolute freedom
surrounded by trees, animals, and people who are indifferent towards me (Arenas 332). This quote
foreshadows the rest of the story in that Reinaldo soon faces indifference from other people
because he is unique and is doing something a different way . Also, this quotation points out the
wonderful time he had as a child where there seemed to be opportunity, before Fidel Castro came
into power restricting most rights. Furthermore, Arenas was free as a child and was uplifted by
the cognitive nature of opportunity, but as he got older the setting started to change and dreams
were tarnished and opportunity was thrown away by political interference. Reinaldo Arenas
childhood was the only time of happiness and immaculacy and throughout the rest of the story
Arenas is on a desperate search for enchantment in his once short lived paradise. As Arenas states
in the book, These, to be sure, were farfetched hopes, hopes born of despair, but hope is, after all,
mostly for the desperate (Arenas 260). This quote purely gives an edge to Arenas personality,
saying that he,

Tituba Salem Witch Trial
The Salem Witch Trials were a tragic event that echoed throughout history. Twenty lives were taken
in 1691 and 1692. Over 150 others were accused and thrown in prison and even more have been
haunted by this hardship.
Although most of the cases for the Salem Witch Trials were fake, they could ve easily been prank
that went too far, or grudges against neighbors. Despite all of the rumors, there is one accusation
that will never be dropped. An Indian slave, Tituba. Tituba was the first to be accused of witchcraft
in Salem Village. She was brought before a court and confessed under pressure the names of two
other witches , Sarah Good and Sarah Osborne. The framed women were accused of bewitching

blaming their recent burdens on the Devil and his magic. Salem Village largely ignored the letter
and continued to hang another 18 people. Five in July, another five in August, and 8 in
September. Giles Corry, a 71 year old man was even crushed to death. He would not plead guilty
nor not guilty and was tortured by having a sheet of wood laid down on top of him and huge
boulders were placed on top. Only then did Salem Village realize what they had gotten themselves
into. They apologized to the families and every family received 600 euros for compensation.
Scientists have looked at the Salem Witch Trials and have pondered what could have caused the
afflicted and accused to act in such way. Back in 1976, Toxicologists studied the fungus ergot,
which can be found in wheat( the main crop grown in Salem Village). Ergot thrives in warm, wet
conditions, which in the summer of 1691 was particularly moist. It was also no coincidence that
when the dry summer of 1692 rolled around, ergot was nowhere to be found along with any

and Yellow Pages USA being the market leading independent publisher of yellow pages directories

The projected EBITDA for BT Yellow Pages in the U.K. and Yellow Pages USA combined should
be more than enough to cover the proposed interest expense. This is an important factor in
determining the possibility of an LBO.
There is a good possibility for an exit strategy as business lines should be relatively easy to divest
should the need arise, given that financial buyers are interested in business lines.
All in all Yell Group has a well established position in a growing market generating stable revenue
streams that are reasonably recession proof, a well established market position, good possibility
for an exit, fulfilling at least two requirements for a good LBO candidate.
Financial structure
In order to finance the Yell Group buy out a consortium of APAX/Hicks Muse and investment
banks had to structure a finance proposal. The two investment banks Merrill Lynch and CIBC
World Markets agreed to raise 1.450 billion in debt. This debt consists of 950 million of syndicated
senior term loans and 500 million through a bridge loan. This bridge loan where Yell Finance B.V.
would be the beneficier had to be refinanced through a high yield offering on the UK and US
markets. The 950 million is at different levels directly invested in the operating companies.

Thiosulphate Of Acetic Acid H2so4 And Standardizing Naoh...
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment was to find the molarity of acetic acid H2SO4 and standardizing
NaOH using titration technique.
The sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was standardized as it is hygroscopic due to a characteristic of
sodium hydroxide that readily absorbing moisture from the air, the NaOH consider a secondary
standard which is a solution whose concentration can only be determined by comparing it to the
concentration of the primary standard. The primary standard mass has to be known for the exact
moles that are needed for reaction with the base.
Potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHC8H4O4) is the acid used for this trial to react to the
standardized base NaOH. Also known as potassium acid phthalate, potassium biphthalate, and KHP
creates the chemical reaction with NaOH
гЂ–KHC_8 H_4 O_4гЂ—_((s))+гЂ–NaOHгЂ—_((aq)) в–Ў(в†’) гЂ–KNaC_8 H_4
O_4гЂ—_((aq))+гЂ–H_2 OгЂ—_((l)) The titration was performed by filling the buret which adds
a measured volume of a chemical solution, with a solution of known concentration (the titrant) and
added the solution of unknown concentration (the analyte) until it react completely. This is the
equivalent point which the number of moles, stoichiometrically based on the molar ratio, of both
reagents (titrant and analyte) are the same and they react leaving no excess reagent. This is
considered the theoretical end of the titration, but the experimental end of titration can be seen and
is signaled by a substance known as an indicator. For this experiment, the

Definition Essay On Betrayal
Over the past few years of my life, I ve witnessed and felt betrayal. As I get older I ve had Friends
, Family and people around my betray me. You start noticing people that you least expect
leaving you when you most need them. I ve also betrayed someone in the form of seducing and
leaving her. There could be many ways of you betraying someone and not even noticing how
they could react to it. One example of me betraying someone and not noticing how I messed up,
with a little Joke . Was when I a little drops of water and I flicked it at a Friend, the water didn t
land on him but he was able to catch me on the act. He took it as a sign of disrespect and not

betray you. Second example of Betrayal is to deliver something to an enemy by treachery. I once

How Is Daisy Portrayed In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby, and it gives us an insight into the gender roles of past WW1 America.
Throughout the novel, women are portrayed in a very negative light. The author s presentation of
women is unflattering and unsympathetic. The women are not described with depth. When given
their description, Fitzgerald appeals to their voice, she had a voice full of money , their looks her
face was lovely with bright things in it, bright eyes, and a bright passionate mouth , and the way in
which they behave, They re such beautiful shirts she sobbed , rather than their feelings or emotions,
for example, Daisy is incapable of genuine affection, however she is aimlessly flirtatious. In the

Daisy misleads Gatsby in thinking she is going to escape with him and leave everything behind
even though she has no real intention of doing so. Her middle name Fay means fairy which
epitomizes her carefree, ethereal manner, as well as envisaging a flitting personality, which ties
into her lack of loyalty. Ann Massa cites, Daisy s lack of depth and passion leads her to flinch
from the real emotion and profound inner vitality which Gatsby s life style struggles to express.
She does not deal with the aftermath of her affair with Gatsby; she did not attend his funeral,
abandoning him in his death, and left Nick to clean up the mess she had made. She also says to
Gatsby, I d like to get you in one of those pink clouds and put you in it and push you around. This
suggests that she wants to escape with Gatsby, without confronting Tom with their affair. Daisy s
presented with the inability to take responsibilities for her actions, and this leads to the mistrust
Fitzgerald reflects throughout the novel. Like Jordan, Daisy is a careless character, as the
accident with Myrtle shows. She is careless because she had been born into wealth and she had an
endless resource of men who continually spoil her. However in spite of all her faults, Fitzgerald
presents her with ingenuity as she is clearly cynical about the position she is in, and this is
epitomized when she comments the best thing a girl

The International Monetary Fund And The World Bank Were
The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank were formed at the Britton Woods
Conference in New Hampshire, United States, in 1944. They were designed as the mainstay of the
post war global economic order. The World Bank s focus is the provision of long term loans to
support development projects. The IMF concentrates on providing loans to stabilize countries with

Critics of the World Bankand IMF have argued that policies implemented by African Countries,
intended to control inflation and generate foreign exchange to help pay off the IMF debts, often
result in increased unemployment, poverty and economic polarization thereby impeding

In 1980, Zimbabwe after being liberated, the government vigorously invested in all sectors of the
economy (health, education, mining, universal access to services but this in turn led to the
government budget deficits in the mid 1980s and forced the government to look for ways to
finance its excessive expenditure. Zimbabwe was then persuaded to implement ESAP. The
programme was to run from year 1991 to 1995.
ESAP was a package with instruments to be adhered to, and these were the components:
1.Reduction of government expenditure through privatization
2.Removing wage controls
3.Removing controls on exchange rates
4.Removing subsidies on basic goods
5.Removal of price control measures
The basis of these components was to let the market control the economy and reduce government
bills thereby cutting the expenditure. Although the neo liberalists favor the IMF and WB reform
packages, the ESAP were to a larger extent disastrous in the different sectors of the economy
ranging from people s lives, health, education, agriculture and the macro and micro economy in
Zimbabwe. According to Dhliwayo (2001), the decision to want a major economic reform

from international donors so that the country might close both the resource and trade gaps in order

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Special Needs Pupils
In Rantsu the approach for the special needs pupils is different from the other two analysed
schools: they have special classes, some of them are stable, others are used just in some periods.
The decision to make special classes can be based on the presence of serious cases of disabilities or
can be a way to help these special needs pupils to have a more personalized study path.
Even if it could be a good method to teach them, it could be dangerous to isolate these pupils from
the others. The other pupils will not face the presence of them, and these pupils will not be pushed
to communicate to the others, that will be necessary in their future life.
There are pros and cons in this approach and it s hard to define a line between help and exclusion.

The most interesting method used by the teacher was to follow the pupils knowledge to build the

Art And Its Influence On Art
The essence of art is the union of inspiration, discovery, imagination, and power displayed and
interpreted through our five senses. Art cannot be demonstrated, nor identified by any absolute
source; no one can or ever shall deem any one piece or sense as true art. . For art is
individualized and perceived differently by each being. The appreciation of what one brings to
be experienced by others classifies as art, for art is to be appreciated in different perspectives;
whether it be in sorrow, pleasure, comfort, or uneasiness. With the creation of art comes the
birthplace of power. With the beauty of art, comes its flexibility and willingness to bind itself to
any form that you dictate. Art presents itself through many mediums, and channels, which leads
one to ask where art comes from, and rooted. To some, art is a passion, to others an outlet, and to
other, it is a breath of fresh air. In ancient times, the Greeks carried that idea with them, believing
that it was the Muses, a supernatural power who worked through them, that caused many
blossoming urges of inspiration (Brooks). Inspiration is a core member in the process of creating
art. At times people will be at crossroads, not knowing what to produce or create, not sure what is
to ensue. At those times, artists from the Romantic Era believed that inspiration played a key role
in expression. Thus their mentality was that art was an expression or revelation of truths that were
inaccessible to the intellect alone

Representation Of Women In The Media Essay
Representation of women over time
By James Hall
In my opinion, the representation of women within the media hasn t changed. However, outside of
media it has improved.
Firstly, by the 1950 s American women had come a long way. During World War II women had
entered the working environment in mass numbers, however when the war was over, many
women then returned home to find their jobs were taken by the men. The next passing of
women s rights laws wouldn t come until the early to mid 1960s when the Equal Pay Act was
finally passed in the 1963, which meant that the gap between women s and men s pay was
shortened however, women were still being paid less in various circumstances. But in the 1950 s
/60 s media coverage showed women as being weak around the home and confused when it came
to manly jobs .
In recent years there has been a big attitude change towards women in the media. A large amount of
the influence came from American TV shows that then triggered the change in British television,
who were historically less likely to change their ways.
However there are opposing messages in the media still. For example: Desperate Housewives (the
title itself continues to put down women). Throughout the series the women of Wisteria Lane focus
almost entirely on pleasing the man in their life, through cooking and cleaning. None of ... Show

report shows net sales at $12.1 billion, compared to the $11.3 billion in third quarter 2010.
Continuing operations also grew 19 percent to $665 million, compared to $557 million in 2010.
The CEO, Bob Stevens, stated that this strong third quarter is the result of the company s focus to
aggressively reduce costs while still delivering value and support to its customers. Though there is
still challenging global security and economic issues, Stevens expects continued growth for 2012
(LMC, 2011).
Economic Forces
Lockheed Martin Corporation relies heavily on defense contracts from the U.S. Government. In
fact, 84 percent of the company s net sales were made through being a prime contractor or
subcontractor for the U.S. Government. These sales come from both the Department of Defense
(DoD) and non DoD agencies. The next largest area of revenue is from foreign governments that
make up 15 percent of net sales. The remaining net sales come from commercial or other customer
sales. A slow economy could cause decline or reprioritization of funding for the U.S. defense
budget. This is also true for

Looking around the waiting room gazing at all the other patients, frazzled mothers trying to
contain their children, others dressed for work tapping their nails as the precious seconds tick
by, frail elderly men nodding off, I stop and wonder if they have the same thoughts as I do.
Sadness engulfs me upon the realization that the days where the nurse greeted a person by name,
knew all their children s names, their birthdays, asked about the family and important events in
their lives has evaporated as if it never existed. Now a day s medical staff barely look up and
acknowledge a patient s presence when checking in, instead they shuffle them off quicker than a

struggles that doctors face trying to keep their medical practices afloat by milking the insurance

close their offices. These closures limit the patient s choices resulting in overcrowding and long

doctors transition into the field of science and research or teaching medicine (Malpractice Cost).

Stereotypes In Engineering
Engineering has historically been viewed as a man s job. In recent years the Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) community has made more pointed efforts to recruit
women. While the process of aggressively seeking out women is taking place, the perception of
what it means to be an engineerremains skewed. Since the perception has changed about engineering
, societal views are pushed towards a generic understanding of what it means to be an engineer.
Problems in recruiting women engineerscan exemplify the differences in society we don t often
discuss such as merit and opportunity.
The issue of men having a higher percentage of STEM field workers is not new news. The
percentage of women in engineering has not been dramatically impacted in years. A study
conducted by Rachel Dzombak, in 2016 at Penn State University describes why. Throughout the
study, the ratio of women to men was one in five. The ratio of tenured or tenured tracked faculty
of women to men was about one in eight (2). Showing the disproportionate amount of men. In the
study, there is a lack of consensus on a single reason for women to be underrepresented in these
fields do to the differing nature of the variables. Some recurring themes seem to be a lack of
academic confidence, unsatisfactory guidance by faculty, and a diminished ability to create a
community within engineering (4). These factors all contribute to the absence of women in a
variety of ways. Lack of academic confidence

The combined reduction of the costs regarding water, which is about 80% reused, wastewater
surcharges and lower energy costs (Boston CityBizList, 2015) can mean an economy of up to $2

breweries, as the largest ones have their own systems, this reduction is very significant. This is not
counting the significant environmental gains.

Causes Of Judgement
A man walks down a street wearing a heavy jacket and a warm scarf around his neck on a humid
day is ogled at by individuals around him. Regardless of how hard he tries to avoid attention, people
tend to point the man out to their peers, and whisper their inputs on his dressing style to each other.
People of the 21st century have portrayed their high level of intellectualism by making tremendous
achievements in the fields of technology and medicine, but at the same time, they have showcased
their foolishness by forming opinions of other individuals. Judging has turned into a habit for all of
humanity that hurts people mentally and physically. Individuals judge due to their phony ethicsand
assumptions. In particular, one s bad upbringing, the insecurity and jealousy of human nature, and
the blind acceptance of information are the three main causes for passing judgement.
Firstly, A bad upbringing is reflected when one lacks the understanding of the idea of individuality,
hence leading oneself to judge others. Passing down wrong teachings to younger generations that
support the ideas of arrogance and selfishness, prevents them to understand the uniqueness of other
independent minded individuals, resulting in the children to judge other people ignorantly. One s
selfishness and pride underestimate other people s gifts talents, and hardships, because they are
taught to think that no one is better than themselves. In other words, a child that is taught to take
great pride in him

Lucy
The discovery of Lucy is our oldest and most complete human ancestor. She is less than 3.8
million years old hominid of Australopithecus afarensis, which was discovered in November 24,
1974 by Donald C. Johanson and Tom Gray in the Hadar region of Ethiopia.
They named her Lucy in reference to the well known Beatles song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
, which played over and over as they celebrated their findings.
This uncovering of Lucy was very fascinating and answered many questions to our human
evolution. The search for human ancestry has been ongoing for the past century since the
publication of Charles Darwin s Origins of the Species . As more evidence about the branches of

The joint could lock , suggesting the animal could walk upright. This was an important discovery
showing an ancient bipedal creature. If the bones age was consistent with Johanson s hypothesized
missing link , it would serve as supporting evidence to Johanson s theory.
Lucy s entire skeleton was found about two and a half kilometers from the site in which the
bipedal knee joint was found. The conclusion that both fossils originate from the same species is
questionable, and might have been influenced by Johanson s pre existing biases. While only forty
percent of the skeleton was found.
The scientist predict that Lucy is at least 20 years old because her wisdom teeth had fully come
in. Her head looked primitive and her brain was not much bigger than a chimpanzee s. She was
an ape with a human looking body but underdeveloped skull and brain. We obviously still had a
long way to come in the 3.18 million years between then and now, but Lucy already showed clear
differences from the normal apes. The shape of her hip bones and her upright posture means that
Lucy is closer to us than the chimpanzee. Knowing that Lucy could walk on two legs and was
about 3 6 tall.
The habitat is predicted a mix of woodland, where they hunt for food on the ground and in trees,
along with more open areas where they would have walked upright. Evidence from their teeth
suggest that this hominine ate soft fruits and leaves but was also adapted to eat harder, more brittle

Dehumanization Of Women In The Handmaids Tale
To dehumanize someone is to strip them of everything that makes them human, all their good
qualities, all their basic rights, everything that can label them an individual. Similarly, in
Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale, the women in the Republic of Gilead are degraded in
such a way that they are stripped of their previous selves. Women in Gilead are outfitted by their
functions, forced to have sex and they, especially handmaids, are used as tools. In The Handmaid
s Tale, Atwood utilizes motifs to further dehumanize the women of Gilead. To begin, the
Republic of Gilead outfits women based on their function to strip them of their individuality. The
process starts by colour coding women into easily identifiable class groups. This is seen when
Offred makes her way to town, narrating the scene and drawing attention to the other women by
saying, There are other women with baskets, some in red, some in the dull green of the Marthas
(Atwood 27). Women in Gilead have been colour coded to be easily identifiable and known under
their respective colours, completely erasing their identities. Furthermore, the colours they wear
identify their sole purposes to society. When Offred first introduces Econowives she notes that
...the striped dresses, red and blue and green... Econowives, they re called. These women are not
divided into functions. They have to do everything... (Atwood 27). The Econowives are the wives
or the poorer men, wearing the medley of all three colours to

How Human Beings Can Conserve Primate As Valuable Species
Animals and human beings come into contact with each other in the different environment across
the world. This has been fostered by human settlement in most regions that were delegated for
animals. Whenever there is a contact between human and animals, there is a chance for the
development of a relationship. Although human beings are familiar with the interaction of
companion animals like cats, human animal interaction also occurs in the context of farms,
laboratories and in the wilderness (Davis, Schaffner, Smith 2005). Repeated relationship can lead to
developing long term friendly relationship between animals and human beings involved. Various
studies have been developed in an attempt of developing the most critical and rational measures that
can be utilized to enhance and develop a human animal relationship (Campbell, Shideler, Todd,
Lasley 2001). These research studies have in majority concentrated on domesticated species. This
research paper is developed to critically analyze the human primaterelationship. The study critically
is developed to show how human beings can conserve primate as valuable species. The primate is
used to refer to the group of mammals that are intelligent and most developed in comparison to
other animals. In the animal kingdom they are the beings that are closest related to humans.
Primate conservation has been one of the major concerns of animal experts. The animals are
intelligent and required great attention with a critical understanding

NAPOLEON S INFLUENCE ON MODERN WESTERN MILITARY ARMIES
History 100, Staff Group A, CGSC Class 14 001

1
Throughout history, military leaders have immortalized their legacies by vanquishing their enemies
in the battlefield against overwhelming odds. Soldiers and historians have revered their
accomplishments by studying their mastery in the art of warfare with the hopes mimicking their
accomplishments. Of them all, Napoleon Bonaparte is considered the best military leader in the
history of the Western World and has been the most influential with the development of modern day
Western armies. According to Knox, military revolutions are changes in the nature and purpose of
war itself. 1 Napoleon s military tactics and strategy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the control of constantly larger and more widely dispersed forces. 5 According to Lynn, by
subdividing his army into corps, Napoleon enhanced command and control. It improved logistics,
since several corps operating along separate lines of advance could supply themselves more easily
than could a single large army operating along a single route. 6 In addition to the forming of corps
and divisions, Napoleon created brigade and army levels of commands. This unique military
organizational structure allowed him to effectively move his large armies and outmaneuver his
enemies.
Like the French, the U.S. Army s military organizational structure consists of armies, corps,
divisions, brigades, and battalions. The only exception is the regional commands that it uses. Each
command level organization consists of a robust staff that assists commanders with developing
plans and executing orders. This organizational structure provides an efficient method of
commanding and controlling from the lowest to the highest level of commands.
The transformation of the French military organizational structure provided better command and
control for large armies. However, its use of combined arms allowed the French to annihilate their
enemies in the battlefield. The French had pioneered the use of combat division, combining

Coming up with development strategies can be difficult because it is not a one shoe fits all
concept. Many different countries and organizations have their own development plans that
specifically fit their needs, for example; in class we learned that Africa as well as Europe and
North America and Asia have their own development plans special to their wishes and desires. For
Partners in Health, I would focus on donations and getting the organization more widely popular.
This organization already has well known sponsors such as the American Cancer Society and the
Ronald McDonald House so I would reach out to more businesses and encourage them to donate.
There are a variety of development strategies but there is only about one or two that would be
useful for Partners in Health. One development strategy that would not work would be the import
substitution industrialization strategy because it is a trade and economic policy which advocates
replacing foreign imports with domestic production. It is based on the premise that a country

Lady With Lapdog By Anton Chekhov
Bad Romance
As Haddaway once said, what is love? Baby, don t hurt me, don t hurt me no more. Everyone has
a different perspective of what love really is. People can fall in love or believe they are in love
because of physical attraction. Some may believe that lust can become into something more. In the
short story, Lady with Lapdog by Anton Chekhov translated by David Magarshack, the main
protagonist Gurov is married with a twelve year old daughter and two sons. He is not extremely
happy with his family life so he likes to have small affairs to get away from it. As the plot develops
he meets a girl named Anna, who he falls head over heels for, making the womanizer, fall in love.
Even though what the did is immoral, it can be a good thing for the pair. They may have gotten
out a situation that was not making them happy. Love can control the way people dictate their
lives. Is it for the good of the people? Is it just some emotion that causes mischief? As seen in
Lady with Lapdog, love is a powerful emotion that can alter people s motives as well as can
change other s lives in an instant. Although love is about sacrifice for the significant other, it can
also a very selfish emotion. During the story the when Gurov and Anna are in their affair she starts
to complain and he, could not help feeling bored as he listened to her...she buried her face on his
chest and clung close to him, (Chekhov 269), showing that he is not willing to listen to her when

Essay on Religious Justifications of Slavery in the Caribbean
Religious Justifications of Slavery in the Caribbean The doctrine of Christianity grants eternal life
to all persons who accept that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and choose to follow him. Such a
statement leaves little room for interpretation of the scripture itself. Nevertheless, the nineteenth
century Christian churches of the Caribbean Islands created a racial distinction between humans
which determined who could and who could not be granted eternal life through the Christian faith.
This concept of race was based on the belief that Africans were intellectually unable to make an

(Later they were informed by the missionaries). The slave owners did not encourage the
institution of marriage. It was felt that the strength and power of the marriage union would offer
a threat to the Plantation System. Concubinage was encouraged as it was believed that this frail
type of union would keep the negroes humble and complacent. Despite the rapid social changes
taking place, common law marriages and concubinage are still present in Caribbean and will
perhaps be for a long time. During the latter part of the nineteenth and the beginning of the
twentieth century (1890 1910) there was a large movement of people from Jamaica to Cuba,
Panama, Costa Rica and the United States of America in search of jobs. Fathers travelled away
from their families leaving mothers to be solely responsible for the upbringing of their children.
During the 1950s there was an exodus of Jamaicans to England. These included both fathers and

Substance Case Study
Substance History:
Ms. Kelly is a nondrinker, smokes five cigarettes per day and uses recreational grade cannabis for
pain and sleep daily.
On admission, Ms. Kelly complained of low back pain ranging in intensity from 7 to 8, out of 10,
on the pain scale where 0 is no pain and 10 is the worst imaginable pain. She subjectively describes
this pain as throbbing, stabbing, burning and radiating down into both legs, left worse than right. In
addition, she has sharp, stabbing, burning pain in both her arms, left worse than right, and
experiences intermittent tingling and numbness sensations in both her hands. She has pain in her
neck and shoulder that she defines as tension type pain. Factors that can aggravate the pain include

To treat symptoms of insomnia or anxiety, she has had trials of lorazepam, clonazepam and
temazepam, and in 2016, quetiapine in doses of 25 50mg per day was prescribed.
In reviewing medications, Ms. Kelly mentioned that many of the drugs previously prescribed were
either not effective in relieving the pain or caused her to feel unwell. While taking morphine, she
frequently experienced stomach upset, nausea and constipation. In the past year, she decided on her
own initiative to wean herself off morphine and she does not plan to resume taking opioids for her
chronic pain problems.
Past trials of adjuvant pain medications may have failed to control the pain because of factors
such as a sub therapeutic dose or duration of the medication. We reviewed the role of duloxetine in
the management of both neuropathic and nociceptive pain conditions and suggested a retrial of this
SNRI. She agreed with our recommendation and began a 2 week trial of duloxetine, 30mg/day,
which she tolerated well, thus; her dose was subsequently increased to 60mg/day, the usual
effective dose for both pain and mood.
During her admission, we also discussed trialing a course of oral cannabinoids as an alternative
treatment as she does have chronic pain with

The Film Rain M Charlie And Raymond Babbitt
The film Rain Man (1988) depicts the relatively one sided relationship between two brothers,
Charlie and Raymond Babbitt. Charlie is portrayed by Tom Cruise and is immediately shown to be
a self absorbed businessman and Raymond, portrayed by Dustin Hoffman, is later introduced as
Charlie s older brother who lives and is cared for at a mental facility. The story follows the two on a
cross country journey that ultimately leads them, primarily Charlie, to better understanding
themselves and each other.
The film begins by introducing Charlie who is shown to be a young and struggling salesman of
expensive cars. One day he receives news that his estranged father had passed away back in
Cincinnati, Ohio. Charlie and his girlfriend, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Barlow (2018) text states that the diagnostic criteria for autism spectrum disorder is:
Persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts
Restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities
Symptoms must be present in the early developmental period
Symptoms cause clinically significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas
of functioning
The disturbances are not better explained by intellectual disability (intellectual developmental
disorder) or global developmental delay.
Based on these criteria listed Raymond would be diagnosed as autistic. In the film he is shown to
have a lack of social or emotional reciprocity in multiple instances. When he was told of his father s
death he had no response, another instance was how he

Rising Action In Red s Riding Hoods
In the short cartoon, Red s Riding Hoods, a classic children s fable is told in a goofy, twisted,
and to the point way. The story revolves around a young lady named Red. Red owns a humble
corner shop that sells riding hoods, which a very wealthy woman finds her way into. The
wealthy woman demands a hood made out of wolf skin, which, to Red s dismay, is not an item
she carries in her store. The rising action begins at this precise moment, for it is then that Red
sets off on her quest to find a wolf to skin. This specific point in the story is the rising action
because it occurs after the exposition, and it leads up to the climax of the cartoon. She calls the
local zookeeper, who tells her that he does not have any extra wolves available to

Life In A Normal Life
I was a normal person living in a normal house in a normal neighborhood. I had a normal job
working as a youtuber.I was living this life until one call changed everything. My brother called
me, he said that our mom was in the hospital. On my way to the hospital i wasn t really worried
because my mom always says she s sick when she s not. I went in the patient room where my
mom was, and i saw my brothers face, he didn t look happy. And i knew something bad was
going on. The doctor told my brother that my mom could have some kind of virus in her
stomach . But what we didn t know was that it wasn t a virus, it was something worse. The
doctor came in the room with a worried face, he wanted to talk to us in private outside the room.
We went outside the doctor told us that they found that our mom had cancer in her stomach. The
doctor told us that they found it so early that with enough treatment she could get cured in about
6 months. But that was the good part, the bad part is that the medicines were too expensive. The
job i had right now, working as a youtuber didn t produce enough money to pay the medicines,
and the worst part was that my brother didn t have money right now because he was building a
house. Was desperate for a job that gave me a good amount of money. 1 week passed and i still
didn t have a good job. Until one day when i was watching one of my youtube videos to see if it s
good, i saw a commercial about the U.S. Army. I was thinking of joining

The National Youth Leadership Forum
Growing up in a predominately African American school district, I would go several days
without ever being reminded of my racial identity. I was considered part of the majority
throughout all of grade school. However, this all changed as I began to stray from my normal
crowd and participate in academic enrichment and pre medical programs. The very first time that
I was reminded that I was the minority, and therefore inferior to many was when I attended a
program called NYLF. The National Youth Leadership Forum allowed me to spend ten days at a
medical forum with high school students from all over the world. When I arrived, I looked
around and realized that out of about two hundred kids, only about fifteen looked like me. I also
noticed that they had all congregated to the same area and had essentially secluded themselves.
Determined not to stay in my comfort zone and expose myself to new things, I decided to sit at a
different table. A few days into the program, several disappointing things became clear. I began to
observe ignorant remarks, disapproving glares, and belittling attitudes from many of my
surrounding peers. Admittedly, it did make me somewhat upset to know that so many felt that
because I was a black girl, I did not deserve to be at this program. It became evident that many of
my opinions, thoughts, and responses to activities were quickly discounted on most occasions. I
wondered if I had made the wrong decision by branching off from my African Americanpeers.

Summary Of The Most Dangerous Game By Richard Connell
When I fell off the boat and into the water I could barely breath .. The story is mostly about how a
man gets hunted by another man and learns how animals feel when they get hunted. . Also how it
feels to get hunted like an animal. Also how people feel about each other. One important lesson
readers can learn from Richard connells story The Most Dangerous Gameis you don t know how
someone feels unless you are in a similar situation.
Rainsford tells Whitney that jaguars don t have feelings or fears or any emotions when they are
being hunted (Connell 3). This scene shows that Rainsford does not care about animals or their
feelings. He believes that they are mindless and emotionless. It also shows that he does not think of
human beings as

COPD Patient Education
Background Information
Encompassed primarily by two conditions, emphysema and chronic bronchitis, Chronic Obstructive
Pulmonary Disease (COPD) refers to a group of diseases of a debilitating and progressive nature
that cause inflammation of the airway and interferes with the ability to breathe (National Heart,
Lung, and Blood Institute [NHLBI], 2013). The diseases in COPD have some shared
characteristics, including a progressive and irreversible limitation of the airflow associated with an
abnormal inflammation of the peripheral bronchioles and considerable damage to lung parenchyma
(NHLBI, 2013). In the United States (US), there are approximately 15.7 million adults diagnosed
with COPD, although estimates suggest that these figures are higher ... Show more content on

This NP led education would be inclusive of disease management strategies, including smoking
cessation, strict adherence to prescribed medications, strategies to avoid air pollutants or
triggers, and recognition of worsening symptoms that may lead to a COPD exacerbation (CDC,
2016). The educational intervention would be comprised of evidence based strategies geared
towards symptom management and decreasing the incidence of COPD exacerbations that would
require inpatient management. Additional benefits of the intervention would include an increase
in the patient s tolerance to physical activity as well as an increased quality of life that has been
associated with a reduction in the incidence of depression and isolation (Corbridge et al., 2012).
An educational intervention is better suited for an evidence based project as it is more
subjective in nature and requires less manipulation of the research variables (University of
Southern California, 2017). In contrast, the NP led educational intervention proposed is less
suited for a research project, such as a randomized controlled trial (RCT) as it would be the case if
the effectiveness of medications were being researched (University of Southern California, 2017).
Lastly, the expected outcome would be a properly educated patient who is able to participate
actively in the management of the condition and, as a result, would maximize his of health status
and decrease the incidence of COPD exacerbations that would require ED visits or inpatient hospital

The Development Of Carbon Fibre
The Development of Carbon Fibre in Formula 1. What is carbon fibre? Carbon fibre is an
extremely strong material that is also super lightweight. The material has many uses in
engineering and design, and this case study will discuss the advantages and disadvantages.
McLaren first introduced carbon fibre into chassis construction of the MP4 in 1981. Apart from
the cars engine, wheel rims and gearbox, all twenty two Formula 1 cars that competed in the
2014 season bodies, are made of carbon fibre. [1] Properties of Carbon fibre. Design technicians
and engineers love to use carbon fibre in manufacturing as it has many desirable properties. First
of all is its strength. Carbon fibre is five times stronger than steel and is twice as stiff [2]. The
strands of carbon are lined up parallel to each other when producing a sheet. For maximum
results in strength, the fibres must be parallel with the forces that will act upon that element, this
is to make sure it can withstand the forces going through the object when in use. Carbon fibre is
also very lightweight. This property is a huge advantage in car production. By using carbon fibre
instead of steel in building car components reduces the weight of the car by 60% [2]. In turn, this
reduction in weight cuts the car s fuel consumption by 30% and reduces greenhouse gases and
other emissions by 15%[2]. Below shows a detailed table of the strength to weight ratio of carbon
fibre. Carbon fibre also shows that it is a leading 21st

The Role Of Crime In America
When we think of crime in the United States we think of violent muggings, shootings, grand theft
auto, the high profile headline grabbing crimes that make the nightly new. We do not think of the
humdrum crime of home invasion but we should: there is two million home burglaries a year in
the U.S. 30% of these happen due to complacency. We say complacency because the thief is able
to gain entry into the home through an unlocked door or window. This is also a topic that should
be at the forefront of our minds because the highest percentages of burglaries happen during the
summer months. This statistic is not hard to reason out: children are out of school, people are
more apt to go on vacation and with the rise of social media posting thieves

Mental State Of A Social Environment
The Child that Lives from Within
The social sciences often question if psychopathic behaviour is innate or a product of a social
environment. In the movie Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock, Norman Bates downfall proposes how
crucial a healthy childhood is to the mental state of a developing child. Contrary to nature focused
beliefs, not all human behaviour comes from an individual s genetic makeup, but rather through
experiences that become ingrained in the mind like scripture (Cooke 25). Theories proposed by
Sigmund Freud and other research comparing the relation between psychopathy and environment
can help to rationalize the reasons behind Norman Bates unsuccessful childhood, the impact of his
parent child relationship on his self perception, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning as a child, Norman kills his mother and her partner out of jealousy. In light of
Freudian theory, the Oedipus complex, Norman emulates the mythological king Oedipus...a
young boy who is sexually attracted to his mother, and as a result desires to kill his father in
order to possess the mother ( Hitchcock Psychoanalysis , pars. 10). Norman s deep infatuation
makes him unable to discern where to put his sexual feelings towards her. Freud suggests that
normal children are able to relocate their intimate emotions onto different people and things
(Ponce, pars. 4). Although, Norman experiences hysterical amnesia which is the repression of
infantile sexuality (Ponce, pars. 4). In this case, biological determinism, an explanation that
psychotic behaviour is an innate deficit, does not relate to Norman after it is clear that his
repressed childhood memories reflect his adult behaviour. Additionally, the way his behaviour
changes once he takes on the role of his mother shows the challenges of their past bond. Norman
plays his mother up to be cruel and capable of murder. Peter Murris findings propose that Norman
s negative representation of his mother and behaviour are symptoms related to low levels of
parental care (5). Familial factors explain why children struggle with psychological problems,
demonstrated in the context Norman emulates his mother. As a result, Norman s life from infancy
to adulthood is filled with

Cisco systems Architecture: ERP and Web Enabled IT
Case Introduction and Background and analysis of the Business
Cisco Systems, a Global leading company that manufactures and markets Internet Protocol (IP)
equipment, uses routers to send digital and voice data over the Internet. Founded in 1984 by three
former Stanford University Students, Cisco first found early success by targeting Government
agencies, Universities, and the Aerospace industry. In 1998, Cisco began targeting big businesses
and other agencies. Cisco did their Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 1990. However, disagreement

Don Valentine, one of Cisco s initial venture capitalist with a high tolerance for risk, needed more
talented personnel with a similar entrepreneurial spirit as himself. After several management
turnovers, John Chambers took over the position of CEO. Chambers initiated a strategy to excel
Cisco to its New World Network vision. Cisco became the lead provider of internetbased voice,
data, and video computing systems. The following were included in Chambers strategy: 1.
Assemble a broad product line which would position Cisco as a single point for business networks.
2. Systematize acquisitions to create efficiencies in the business process. 3. Set industry standards
for software networking 4. Find the best fitting strategic partners
Cisco proceeded to implement the plan and grow the IT department and infrastructure. Peter Solvic
joined Cisco as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and began to address the challenges and
shortcomings of the current systems. These included as lack of robust environment and flexibility
when a dramatic event occurred which illuminated the dire need to upgrade Cicsco s legacy
environment. Cisco s system malfunctioned and

Cnc and Dnc
Difference between CNC amp; NC machines
NC machines
In a Numerical Control machine, the program is fed to the machine through magnetic tapes or other
such media. The original NC machines were essentially basic machine tools which were modified
to have motors for movement along the axes.
CNC machines
In a Computer Numerical Controlled machine, the machines are interfaced with computers. This
makes them more versatile in the sense that, suppose a change in dimension of a part is required.
In a NC machine, you would have had to change the program in the tape and then feed it to the
machine again. But in a CNC machine, you just change a variable in the computer and your
modification is done!!

After all, a letter of recommendation is supposed to be a tool for helping people obtain what they are after. If you don t know the candidate well enough to write a good letter, let the person know. He or she will probably ask someone else. If you do know the candidate well but have some reservations, let the person know about your concerns, and leave it up to him or her to decide whether you should still write the letter. PREPARATION Read Some Sample Letters If you have never written a letter of recommendation before, read a stack of reference letters to see what works and what doesn t. Most faculty have access to graduate student applications and the letters submitted. Junior faculty can also ask their more experienced colleagues to share sample letters they have written or have received from applicants (blocking out names and other personal information). The resource section of this chapter provides links to sample letters. This quote foreshadows the rest of the story in that Reinaldo soon faces indifference from other people because he is unique and is doing something a different way . Also, this quotation points out the wonderful time he had as a child where there seemed to be opportunity, before Fidel Castro came into power restricting most rights. Furthermore, Arenas was free as a child and was uplifted by the cognitive nature of opportunity, but as he got older the setting started to change and dreams were tarnished and opportunity was thrown away by political interference. Reinaldo Arenas childhood was the only time of happiness and immaculacy and throughout the rest of the story Arenas is on a desperate search for enchantment in his once short lived paradise. • 10. Thiosulphate Of Acetic Acid H2so4 And Standardizing Naoh... Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to find the molarity of acetic acid H2SO4 and standardizing NaOH using titration technique. The sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was standardized as it is hygroscopic due to a characteristic of sodium hydroxide that readily absorbing moisture from the air, the NaOH consider a secondary standard which is a solution whose concentration can only be determined by comparing it to the concentration of the primary standard. The primary standard mass has to be known for the exact moles that are needed for reaction with the base. Potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHC8H4O4) is the acid used for this trial to react to the standardized base NaOH. Also known as potassium acid phthalate, potassium biphthalate, and KHP creates the chemical reaction with NaOH гЂ–KHC_8 H_4 O_4гЂ—_((s))+гЂ–NaOHгЂ—_((aq)) в–Ў(в†’) гЂ–KNaC_8 H_4 O_4гЂ—_((aq))+гЂ–H_2 OгЂ—_((l)) The titration was performed by filling the buret which adds a measured volume of a chemical solution, with a solution of known concentration (the titrant) and added the solution of unknown concentration (the analyte) until it react completely. This is the equivalent point which the number of moles, stoichiometrically based on the molar ratio, of both reagents (titrant and analyte) are the same and they react leaving no excess reagent. This is considered the theoretical end of the titration, but the experimental end of titration can be seen and is signaled by a substance known as an indicator. For this experiment, the ... Throughout the novel, women are portrayed in a very negative light. The author s presentation of women is unflattering and unsympathetic. The women are not described with depth. When given their description, Fitzgerald appeals to their voice, she had a voice full of money , their looks her face was lovely with bright things in it, bright eyes, and a bright passionate mouth , and the way in which they behave, They re such beautiful shirts she sobbed , rather than their feelings or emotions, for example, Daisy is incapable of genuine affection, however she is aimlessly flirtatious. Daisy misleads Gatsby in thinking she is going to escape with him and leave everything behind even though she has no real intention of doing so. Her middle name Fay means fairy which epitomizes her carefree, ethereal manner, as well as envisaging a flitting personality, which ties into her lack of loyalty. Ann Massa cites, Daisy s lack of depth and passion leads her to flinch from the real emotion and profound inner vitality which Gatsby s life style struggles to express. She does not deal with the aftermath of her affair with Gatsby; she did not attend his funeral, abandoning him in his death, and left Nick to clean up the mess she had made. She also says to Gatsby, I d like to get you in one of those pink clouds and put you in it and push you around. This suggests that she wants to escape with Gatsby, without confronting Tom with their affair. Daisy s presented with the inability to take responsibilities for her actions, and this leads to the mistrust Fitzgerald reflects throughout the novel. Like Jordan, Daisy is a careless character, as the accident with Myrtle shows. She is careless because she had been born into wealth and she had an endless resource of men who continually spoil her. • 15. Art And Its Influence On Art The essence of art is the union of inspiration, discovery, imagination, and power displayed and interpreted through our five senses. Art cannot be demonstrated, nor identified by any absolute source; no one can or ever shall deem any one piece or sense as true art. . For art is individualized and perceived differently by each being. The appreciation of what one brings to be experienced by others classifies as art, for art is to be appreciated in different perspectives; whether it be in sorrow, pleasure, comfort, or uneasiness. With the creation of art comes the birthplace of power. With the beauty of art, comes its flexibility and willingness to bind itself to any form that you dictate. Art presents itself through many mediums, and channels, which leads one to ask where art comes from, and rooted. To some, art is a passion, to others an outlet, and to other, it is a breath of fresh air. In ancient times, the Greeks carried that idea with them, believing that it was the Muses, a supernatural power who worked through them, that caused many blossoming urges of inspiration (Brooks). Inspiration is a core member in the process of creating art. At times people will be at crossroads, not knowing what to produce or create, not sure what is to ensue. At those times, artists from the Romantic Era believed that inspiration played a key role in expression. Thus their mentality was that art was an expression or revelation of truths that were inaccessible to the intellect alone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, outside of media it has improved. Firstly, by the 1950 s American women had come a long way. During World War II women had entered the working environment in mass numbers, however when the war was over, many women then returned home to find their jobs were taken by the men. The next passing of women s rights laws wouldn t come until the early to mid 1960s when the Equal Pay Act was finally passed in the 1963, which meant that the gap between women s and men s pay was shortened however, women were still being paid less in various circumstances. But in the 1950 s /60 s media coverage showed women as being weak around the home and confused when it came to manly jobs . In recent years there has been a big attitude change towards women in the media. A large amount of the influence came from American TV shows that then triggered the change in British television, who were historically less likely to change their ways. • 22. Stereotypes In Engineering Engineering has historically been viewed as a man s job. In recent years the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) community has made more pointed efforts to recruit women. While the process of aggressively seeking out women is taking place, the perception of what it means to be an engineerremains skewed. Since the perception has changed about engineering , societal views are pushed towards a generic understanding of what it means to be an engineer. Problems in recruiting women engineerscan exemplify the differences in society we don t often discuss such as merit and opportunity. The issue of men having a higher percentage of STEM field workers is not new news. The percentage of women in engineering has not been dramatically impacted in years. A study conducted by Rachel Dzombak, in 2016 at Penn State University describes why. Throughout the study, the ratio of women to men was one in five. The ratio of tenured or tenured tracked faculty of women to men was about one in eight (2). Showing the disproportionate amount of men. In the study, there is a lack of consensus on a single reason for women to be underrepresented in these fields do to the differing nature of the variables. Some recurring themes seem to be a lack of academic confidence, unsatisfactory guidance by faculty, and a diminished ability to create a community within engineering (4). People of the 21st century have portrayed their high level of intellectualism by making tremendous achievements in the fields of technology and medicine, but at the same time, they have showcased their foolishness by forming opinions of other individuals. Judging has turned into a habit for all of humanity that hurts people mentally and physically. Individuals judge due to their phony ethicsand assumptions. In particular, one s bad upbringing, the insecurity and jealousy of human nature, and the blind acceptance of information are the three main causes for passing judgement. Firstly, A bad upbringing is reflected when one lacks the understanding of the idea of individuality, hence leading oneself to judge others. Dehumanization Of Women In The Handmaids Tale To dehumanize someone is to strip them of everything that makes them human, all their good qualities, all their basic rights, everything that can label them an individual. Similarly, in Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale, the women in the Republic of Gilead are degraded in such a way that they are stripped of their previous selves. Women in Gilead are outfitted by their functions, forced to have sex and they, especially handmaids, are used as tools. In The Handmaid s Tale, Atwood utilizes motifs to further dehumanize the women of Gilead. To begin, the Republic of Gilead outfits women based on their function to strip them of their individuality. The process starts by colour coding women into easily identifiable class groups. This is seen when Offred makes her way to town, narrating the scene and drawing attention to the other women by saying, There are other women with baskets, some in red, some in the dull green of the Marthas (Atwood 27). Women in Gilead have been colour coded to be easily identifiable and known under their respective colours, completely erasing their identities. Furthermore, the colours they wear identify their sole purposes to society. When Offred first introduces Econowives she notes that ...the striped dresses, red and blue and green... We reviewed the role of duloxetine in the management of both neuropathic and nociceptive pain conditions and suggested a retrial of this SNRI. She agreed with our recommendation and began a 2 week trial of duloxetine, 30mg/day, which she tolerated well, thus; her dose was subsequently increased to 60mg/day, the usual effective dose for both pain and mood. • 42. Rising Action In Red s Riding Hoods In the short cartoon, Red s Riding Hoods, a classic children s fable is told in a goofy, twisted, and to the point way. The story revolves around a young lady named Red. Red owns a humble corner shop that sells riding hoods, which a very wealthy woman finds her way into. The wealthy woman demands a hood made out of wolf skin, which, to Red s dismay, is not an item she carries in her store. The rising action begins at this precise moment, for it is then that Red sets off on her quest to find a wolf to skin. This specific point in the story is the rising action because it occurs after the exposition, and it leads up to the climax of the cartoon. She calls the local zookeeper, who tells her that he does not have any extra wolves available to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had a normal job working as a youtuber.I was living this life until one call changed everything. My brother called me, he said that our mom was in the hospital. On my way to the hospital i wasn t really worried because my mom always says she s sick when she s not. I went in the patient room where my mom was, and i saw my brothers face, he didn t look happy. And i knew something bad was going on. The doctor told my brother that my mom could have some kind of virus in her stomach . But what we didn t know was that it wasn t a virus, it was something worse. The doctor came in the room with a worried face, he wanted to talk to us in private outside the room. We went outside the doctor told us that they found that our mom had cancer in her stomach. The doctor told us that they found it so early that with enough treatment she could get cured in about 6 months. But that was the good part, the bad part is that the medicines were too expensive. The job i had right now, working as a youtuber didn t produce enough money to pay the medicines, and the worst part was that my brother didn t have money right now because he was building a house. Was desperate for a job that gave me a good amount of money. 1 week passed and i still didn t have a good job. • 44. The National Youth Leadership Forum Growing up in a predominately African American school district, I would go several days without ever being reminded of my racial identity. I was considered part of the majority throughout all of grade school. However, this all changed as I began to stray from my normal crowd and participate in academic enrichment and pre medical programs. The very first time that I was reminded that I was the minority, and therefore inferior to many was when I attended a program called NYLF. The National Youth Leadership Forum allowed me to spend ten days at a medical forum with high school students from all over the world. When I arrived, I looked around and realized that out of about two hundred kids, only about fifteen looked like me. I also noticed that they had all congregated to the same area and had essentially secluded themselves. Determined not to stay in my comfort zone and expose myself to new things, I decided to sit at a different table. A few days into the program, several disappointing things became clear. I began to observe ignorant remarks, disapproving glares, and belittling attitudes from many of my surrounding peers. Admittedly, it did make me somewhat upset to know that so many felt that because I was a black girl, I did not deserve to be at this program. It became evident that many of my opinions, thoughts, and responses to activities were quickly discounted on most occasions. I wondered if I had made the wrong decision by branching off from my African Americanpeers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story is mostly about how a man gets hunted by another man and learns how animals feel when they get hunted. . Also how it feels to get hunted like an animal. Also how people feel about each other. One important lesson readers can learn from Richard connells story The Most Dangerous Gameis you don t know how someone feels unless you are in a similar situation. Rainsford tells Whitney that jaguars don t have feelings or fears or any emotions when they are being hunted (Connell 3). COPD Patient Education Background Information Encompassed primarily by two conditions, emphysema and chronic bronchitis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) refers to a group of diseases of a debilitating and progressive nature that cause inflammation of the airway and interferes with the ability to breathe (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute [NHLBI], 2013). The diseases in COPD have some shared characteristics, including a progressive and irreversible limitation of the airflow associated with an abnormal inflammation of the peripheral bronchioles and considerable damage to lung parenchyma (NHLBI, 2013). This NP led education would be inclusive of disease management strategies, including smoking cessation, strict adherence to prescribed medications, strategies to avoid air pollutants or triggers, and recognition of worsening symptoms that may lead to a COPD exacerbation (CDC, 2016). The educational intervention would be comprised of evidence based strategies geared towards symptom management and decreasing the incidence of COPD exacerbations that would require inpatient management. Additional benefits of the intervention would include an increase in the patient s tolerance to physical activity as well as an increased quality of life that has been associated with a reduction in the incidence of depression and isolation (Corbridge et al., 2012). An educational intervention is better suited for an evidence based project as it is more subjective in nature and requires less manipulation of the research variables (University of Southern California, 2017). In contrast, the NP led educational intervention proposed is less suited for a research project, such as a randomized controlled trial (RCT) as it would be the case if the effectiveness of medications were being researched (University of Southern California, 2017). Lastly, the expected outcome would be a properly educated patient who is able to participate actively in the management of the condition and, as a result, would maximize his of health status and decrease the incidence of COPD exacerbations that would require ED visits or inpatient hospital ... • 47. The Development Of Carbon Fibre The Development of Carbon Fibre in Formula 1. What is carbon fibre? Carbon fibre is an extremely strong material that is also super lightweight. The material has many uses in engineering and design, and this case study will discuss the advantages and disadvantages. McLaren first introduced carbon fibre into chassis construction of the MP4 in 1981. Apart from the cars engine, wheel rims and gearbox, all twenty two Formula 1 cars that competed in the 2014 season bodies, are made of carbon fibre. [1] Properties of Carbon fibre. Design technicians and engineers love to use carbon fibre in manufacturing as it has many desirable properties. First of all is its strength. Carbon fibre is five times stronger than steel and is twice as stiff [2]. The strands of carbon are lined up parallel to each other when producing a sheet. For maximum results in strength, the fibres must be parallel with the forces that will act upon that element, this is to make sure it can withstand the forces going through the object when in use. Carbon fibre is also very lightweight. This property is a huge advantage in car production. By using carbon fibre instead of steel in building car components reduces the weight of the car by 60% [2]. In turn, this reduction in weight cuts the car s fuel consumption by 30% and reduces greenhouse gases and other emissions by 15%[2]. Below shows a detailed table of the strength to weight ratio of carbon fibre. Carbon fibre also shows that it is a leading 21st ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Role Of Crime In America When we think of crime in the United States we think of violent muggings, shootings, grand theft auto, the high profile headline grabbing crimes that make the nightly new. We do not think of the humdrum crime of home invasion but we should: there is two million home burglaries a year in the U.S. 30% of these happen due to complacency. We say complacency because the thief is able to gain entry into the home through an unlocked door or window. This is also a topic that should be at the forefront of our minds because the highest percentages of burglaries happen during the summer months. This statistic is not hard to reason out: children are out of school, people are more apt to go on vacation and with the rise of social media posting thieves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the movie Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock, Norman Bates downfall proposes how crucial a healthy childhood is to the mental state of a developing child. Contrary to nature focused beliefs, not all human behaviour comes from an individual s genetic makeup, but rather through experiences that become ingrained in the mind like scripture (Cooke 25). Theories proposed by Sigmund Freud and other research comparing the relation between psychopathy and environment can help to rationalize the reasons behind Norman Bates unsuccessful childhood, the impact of his parent child relationship on his self perception, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beginning as a child, Norman kills his mother and her partner out of jealousy. In light of Freudian theory, the Oedipus complex, Norman emulates the mythological king Oedipus...a young boy who is sexually attracted to his mother, and as a result desires to kill his father in order to possess the mother ( Hitchcock Psychoanalysis , pars. 10). Norman s deep infatuation makes him unable to discern where to put his sexual feelings towards her. Freud suggests that normal children are able to relocate their intimate emotions onto different people and things (Ponce, pars. 4). Although, Norman experiences hysterical amnesia which is the repression of infantile sexuality (Ponce, pars. 4). In this case, biological determinism, an explanation that psychotic behaviour is an innate deficit, does not relate to Norman after it is clear that his repressed childhood memories reflect his adult behaviour. Additionally, the way his behaviour changes once he takes on the role of his mother shows the challenges of their past bond. Norman plays his mother up to be cruel and capable of murder. Peter Murris findings propose that Norman s negative representation of his mother and behaviour are symptoms related to low levels of parental care (5). Familial factors explain why children struggle with psychological problems, demonstrated in the context Norman emulates his mother.
