Difference Between Sports And Sports Tourism
One of the coolest, yet most infuriating parts about the English language is that there are multiple
words that have very similar, yet different, meanings. Leisure, play, recreation, and sport and
tourism can be related to each other and used to describe each other. Often time s people consider
sport tourism, recreation, and play as a leisureactivity. On the other hand, recreation does not
necessarily always refer to a leisure activity. The definition and classification of each activity into
these categories can change with time. As time goes on and the world becomes for technology
advanced, people find new activities to participate in. An activity that one person might consider
leisure, another person could consider work, and therefore it... Show more content on

According to an article written by the Association Internationale de la Presse Sportive in 2010,
sport tourism is worth $600 billion a year (Sport Tourism at, 2010). Definitions.net defines sport
tourisim as travel which involves either observing or participating in a sport event stay apart
from their usual environment (Translations for Sport Tourism, 2018). I believe sport tourism is a
very large sector of the global travel industry today. People are constantly traveling to watch
their favorite team compete in an opponent s stadium or travel to compete in their own activities.
People love to travel and experience new places. When combining sports with travel, it is the
best of both worlds. Escaping from your usual environment and experiencing something new and
challenging is one of the reasons why people enjoy to travel. I personally know multiple people
who travel to different cities to watch a sports team or to participate in some kind of racing event.
Sport tourism, to me, is considered leisure time. I personally enjoy traveling to other cities/states
to watch my favorite team play. One of my favorite experiences was traveling to Orland, Florida,
to watch the University of Memphis play in the conference championship football game. I believe
sport tourism is an industry that is going to be around for a while and continue to

Short Stories About Failure And Help, Perseverance, And Faith
I am honored to be speaking here today. Eighth grade was a fun, but tough year. At the beginning
of eighth grade I was excited and worried for the year to come. Now I think of this year and I
think of how fast it went, the fun I had, and the troubles I had. I think of how I am going into high
school. It s hard to believe. I am not here to talk to you about freaking out about high school. I want
to tell you about eighth grade and what you will experience. I have three stories to tell you. Only
three. Three stories about failure and help, perseverance, and faith. The first story is about
failure. Failure is something I was afraid of, especially in math. I never wanted to fail. I wanted
to try my best and do amazing on everything. Sadly, being perfect isn t how the world works. In
math, at the end of the year, I was really worried about a unit we were doing. At first I thought I
knew what I was doing. I had a good handle on the problems in class and on the homework. When
it came to the first quiz, I failed it. When I saw the score on the computer screen I almost burst
into tears. I was harder on myself than anyone was on me. I knew I tried my best, but I didn t
feel like it. I had never failed before. The teacher came around the next day and asked if I needed
any extra help. At first I was thinking, no. I do not need help. Later that night I changed my mind.
I went to her class during my lunch and she answered my questions and helped me on some
practice problems. For the

Personal Life
In the early 1800 s, a Scottish man that went by the name of Hugh Macdonald, who was a very
unsuccessful merchant that didn t fulfill his goals. He found love with Helen Shaw, and
proceeded to have children. His wife birthed two girls, each named Margaret and Louisa
respectively. When he and his wife tried for a third child, on the eleventh day of January in 1815,
Helen gave birth to a boy, in Glasgow, Scotland, that took the name of John. After Hugh was left in
deep debt, him and his family immigrated to Kingston, Ontario, which used to be known as

Macdonald served as a private who patrolled the area around Kingston, but the town never saw
any real threat, which meant Macdonald was never forced to fire upon the enemy. Even though
most of the trials resulting from the Upper Canada came to be in Toronto, Macdonald
represented one of the defendants in the one trial to be held in Kingston. All Kingston
defendants were acquitted, and a local paper recognized him as one of the youngest barristers in
the Province [who] is rapidly rising in profession. In 1838, Macdonald agreed to advise one man
in a group of American raiders who had crossed the border to liberate Canada from the yoke of
British oppression. By 1838, Macdonald was one of the most popular names in the province. He
had his career in the bag. In 1841, Kingston became the capital of the merged Upper Canada and
Lower Canada together, being named Canada East and Canada West. This meant a lot to John,
because this gave him opportunities to become director of many companies in Kingston. By that
time, Macdonald had become both a director and a lawyer for the Commercial Bank of the
Midland District. Within the 1840 s, Macdonald invested heavily in real estate, including
commercial properties in downtown Toronto. Due to his large investments, he managed to provide

I should work harder if I want to have much money when I am old. Remarkably, I am introvert. I
own poor interpersonal skills, be invisible in the crowd, go with negative emotions. Thus, my
work performance is low, I have very little promotion chances, be hard to be satisfied with my
job, there is no chances for me to be leader. I am fairly agreeable, easy to work with others, less
likely to engage in organizational deviance but poor negotiator. Good performance of working in
groups and the ability to avoid trouble in workplace are results of this. However, I shouldn t get
my foot on negotiating field. I often have less negative thinking and fewer negative emotions, am
less hyper vigilant. I can be happier, more satisfied with my job, bare stress fairly. My colleagues

head. The first, looking at the scores, I am very surprised that all scores fluctuate around average
level. My highest score, openness to experience, just reaches to 3.3 on total 5. It seems that I tend

Wireless Sensors Essay
Wireless Network Sensors (WSNs) [4] has offered a lot of Intelligent Systems which require
minimum expenditure with least labor services. WSNs works entirely on sensors which sense
physical as well as environmental conditions such as temperature, sound, pressure, noise etc. We
have come along with lots and lots of services in Industrial monitoring, health care monitoring, and
environmental monitoring using WSNs. I came across an interesting journal of Intelligent Parking
Lot Application using Wireless SensorNetworks by Sangwon Lee, Dukhee Yoon and Amitabha
Ghosh, 2008.
The writers[1] has criticized lots of journals where people tried using a different kind of sensors like

The writers further explained the detection algorithms for both the sensors: for magnetometers, a
raw data is obtained which went through 6 different mathematical steps including oscillation
prevention, noise reduction, and accuracy detection. This will finally give 5 state machine stages
which will correspond to the track of local minimums and maximums and will depict if a vehicle
is passed. Ultrasonic sensors, works simply on distance measurement from object to sensors. A
flowchart was shown which worked on 2 important factors i.e. Distance_threshold(DiT) and
Duration_threshold(DuT). Both DiT and DuT values are dependent on the placement of sensors in
the parking lot and if is less than required, a counter is activated until desired value and as the
value exceeds, a vehicle is detected.
Now comes the experimental results value which were divided into four different sections: Sensing
experiment, they conducted experimentations on all the 6 sensors loaded on SBT80 of which
visible light, temperature, and acoustic sensor does not change at all and difference can only be
seen in magnetometers, ultrasonic, infrared light sensors used with laser pointers; Ultrasonic

Catechol Oxidase Enzyme Lab
The Influence of pH and Temperature on Enzyme Activity

Abstract In order to see the effects of pH and temperature on the enzymatic reaction of catechol
oxidase when separated from potato tissue. We used a spectrophotometer to measure how much
blue light energy is absorbed by benzoquinone. Benzoquinone is a product of catechol when it
has been oxidized by different temperatures and pHs. We hypothesized that the benzoquinone
absorbance rate would be faster when the pH added to the cuvettes were greater than the pH of
the potato tissue. The pH of the potato tissue was pH 6. Our results show that pH 7 had the faster
absorbance rate, slightly slower at pH 4, and slowest at pH ... Show more content on

Our hypothesis states that the benzoquinone absorbance rate would be faster when the pH added
to the cuvettes were greater than the pH of the potato tissue. At pH 7, reaction rates were the
fastest, but not at pH 10 like we predicted. We predicted that pH 4 would have the slowest to no
reaction rate, but it was faster than pH 10 because the potato tissue has a pH 6 and the pH 4 was
closest to the pH of the potato tissue. A possible reason our hypothesis was only partially
supported was because of possible cross contamination when preparing the cuvettes by not using
different disposable pipets for each pH solution, or the test tubes could have been labeled wrong
which caused them to be mixed up. In future experiments, we should look at the effects of pHs
closer to the pH of the potato tissue because we can infer that closer pHs to the pH of potato tissue
will have a faster reaction rate causing the potatoes to turn brown

Time Is An Illusion Essay
Time. Is it an illusion? Or is it real? These two questions have been debated many times by
philosophers all around the world but they have yet to give a certain answer. Everyday, we use the
concept of time to measure how long an event is, to tell someone when to do what and to place
your events of the day in order. We are constantly using the perception of timein our sentences, but
is time actually real? I personally think that time is an illusion. I believe this because time is
simply something that gives order to our events, we do not progress in time and that time is simply
an illusion created by us.
Time is something that reminds us when there is an event that we must attend to. If you look at a
clock, all you see is a bunch of numbers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Saint Augustine stated that there are three times; a present time about things past, a present time
about things present, a present time about things future. The future exists only as expectations, the
past exists only as memory, but expectation and memory exist in the present. This means that you
cannot relive the past because you are always in the present time. Even if you are remembering a
memory from the past or waiting for something in the future, you are still in the present. Marina
Abramovic quotes: Time is an illusion. Time only exists when we think about the past and the
future. Time doesn t exist in the present here and now. This means that we only think that there is
time since there is a past and future. As time flows, the present is always updating itself every
millisecond. As you read this sentence, you might think that you are in the present but the moment
is no longer happening. After you read the sentence, that time you read it becomes the past. If you
backtrack to the memory of you reading the sentence, you are still in the present even though you
are thinking of the past. If you look at the clock, in one minute the you that you are now will be in
the past. The future you will become the present you and then almost instantly become the past you.
Therefore we are always in the present and it is the mind that can be in the present or the

The Bundestag (Federal Diet; pronounced [Л€bК

. In practice Germany is governed by a bicameral legislature, of which the Bundestag serves as the
lower house and the Bundesrat the upper house. The Bundestag was established by the German

Understandably, the opposition parties are active in exercising the parliamentary right to scrutinize
government actions.
One striking difference when comparing the Bundestag with the British Parliament is the lack of
time spent on serving constituents in Germany. This is in part due to Germany s electoral system.
A practical constraint on the expansion of constituent service is the limited personal staff of
Bundestag deputies. Despite these constraints especially those deputies that are elected directly
normally try to keep close contact with their constituents and to help them with their problems,
particularly when they are related to federal policies or agencies.
Constituent service does also take place in the form of the Petition Committee. In 2004, the Petition
Committee received over 18,000 complaints from citizens and was able to negotiate a mutually
satisfactory solution to more than half of them. In 2005, as a pilot of the potential of internet
petitions, a version of e Petitioner was produced for the Bundestag. This was a collaborative project
involving The Scottish Parliament, International Teledemocracy Centre and the Bundestag Online
Services Department . The system was formally launched on 1 September 2005, and in 2008 the
Bundestag moved to a new system based on its evaluation.[1]

The Tragedy of Shakespeare s Othello
William Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice provides an intriguing
perspective regarding matters related to race, envy, and treachery. Othello is a powerful and
influential Moorish general in the Venetian army, Desdemona is his wife, much younger than him
and the reason for which the general is hated, and Iagois Othellos seemingly trusted lieutenant. The
relationship between these three characters is complex and it actually one of the principal reason
for which the play holds a great deal of stratagems that puts each of the individuals in a delicate
position requiring more or less moral attitudes from them.
While Iago appears to be a good tactician, he is willing to do everything in his power in order to
upgrade his position, regardless of the effects that his actions might have on other individuals. His
fury is amplified by the fact that he believes that Othello slept with his wife, Emilia. This
information points toward the idea that Iago would have second thoughts about working against
Othello if the circumstances would not force him to do so.
Othello and Desdemona are trustful individuals in a society which does not have place for such
people. In spite of the fact that they are determined to put across true feelings regarding how they
feel, the fact that they yield to Iago s pressures to befriend them plays a destructive role in their
lives. Desdemona is one of the principal reasons for which Iago is not promoted, taken into account
that her

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was one of those amazing marketing strategies you see once in a

For starters, the hype of the Ice Bucket Challenge had people accepting to do the challenge with no

The Christian Worldview Of The Holy Bible
The term worldview refers to an accumulation of core beliefs, which influence the understanding
man has of the world. Because a worldview refers to individual beliefs, everyone s worldview is
different. The Christian worldview is based off of the Holy Bible, and because of that, God shapes
the way Christians understand the world around them. However, the Bibleis not the only influence
that Christians are exposed to, and they must constantly monitor their worldview to be certain that
it does not stray from the truth in Gods Word. If Christians are able to identify some key beliefs
that are in the Bible, it can make the task of monitoring their worldview easier. The beginning of

A recurring idea called Gnostism is an example of flawed theology which can be exposed by the
Creation story. The Gnostics claimed that the one true God is too high and pure to be
contaminated by our lower, physical reality. . . Thus, when Gnostics read the Old Testament, they
concluded that the God presented there must be an inferior god. (Wittmer) The story of Creation
reminds Christians of how the world should be, well and good, and can help to paint a clearer
picture of what the restored earth will be like. The Gnostic ideas are valid only if God created an
imperfect world. Christians know, because of the Creation story, that God created a perfect world.
Christianity, like its parent faith, Judaism, embraced what he [N. T. Wright] and others called
creational monotheism. They affirmed the goodness of creation and of God s continual activity
within creation. Thus, for them, salvation was not a matter of being delivered from the material
world to a state of disembodied bliss, but instead, a restoration of God s intended order for the
creation. (Stonestreet. 2014) Thus, the claim that an inferior god made a tainted creation is false,
because the Creation was perfect, and God is the highest being. Because of the Creation story,
Christians can recognize Gnostic ideas as flawed theology, affirming the story of Creation as a
fundamental base for the Christian

Comparing Г‰douard Manet s Le DГ©jeuner Sur L herbe (Luncheon on the Grass) to Henri

thick application of bold strokes of color on the canvas (National Gallery of Ireland, Brushstrokes

Legalization Of Polygamy In The United States
In today s developing world it is common for people to desire and be affectionate with more than
one spouse. It seems difficult for one person, man or woman to commit to being with one spouse,
therefore the divorce rates are increasing every day. The question remains whether this act should
be legalized or not.
Polygamy is having more than one spouse. There are different types of polygamy; these include
polygamy where a man has multiple wives, polyandry in which a woman has multiple husbands,
and group marriage where a family consists of multiple husbands and wives. Polygamy is
definitely the most popular of the three listed. In the United States the practice of any form of
polygamy is illegal and due to this law, many adherents of the lifestyle stays hidden. My perspective
of polygamy is that having more than one spouse should remain illegal because marriage means
committing to one person alone.
Having more than one spouse can cause many issues for the family. Financial issues, lack of
attention and affection to the other wives, one of the wives may feel like the husband is giving

Polygamy brings many problems in a family life, but some people support it because it doesn t
conflict with religion. In my opinion, polygamy should not be legalized. By not legalizing
polygamy in the United States is a great way to save families from suffering. Polygamy doesn t
only give a bad effect for the wives but for the children s psychology. Polygamy can also
encourage the idea that women are considered objects that men can own. Eventually, this can lead
to abuse and other issues that no one should ever have to deal with. These relationships will cause
hatred, jealousy, depressed, and an emotional burden among the family members. Therefore,
polygamous marriage is not a right thing to do. It just causes more problems, women, and children

The Effects Of Technology On Communication
One can never deny that society s cultural ideals have changed dramatically in the past decades.
This is, in part, due to the changes in technological advances. These devices almost a complete
necessity as of 2017, since, from personal experience, many professors require students to use
technology to complete assignments and to turn them in. The past 10 years have also allowed for
sociable machines, as Sherry Turkle, a Professor of Social Studies of Science and Technologyat
MIT, explains in her book Reclaiming Conversation: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age. Many
machines today can be programmed to communicate or even provide services that a human being
could do, only do so flawlessly. While these advantages can be seen as something that can only
benefit people, Turkle explains that the reality of this phenomenon must be taken into deeper
consideration when concerning how this affects people psychologically.
Turkle examination on the long lasting effects that technology can have on conversation begins
with the story of an experience she had conversing with a school who worried that their students
were beginning to lose empathy and find it difficult to connect or to make friends because they
were raised not knowing a life without advanced technology or social media. The excessive use of
technology created a sort of barrier that prevented people from joining into deep and important
conversations and from joining them without distraction. (Turkle 5) She goes beyond this

really value of the food that I have every day or the food that I through it away because I did not
like it. I did not realize there are many hungry people, right in our community, go to bed at night and
their stomach are empty. After helping out at the FoodBank and talking to Sydney, I stopped
eating food for fun. Now, I only eat what I need and keep the rest for next meal , instead of buy
everything or coke more than what I need and ended up throwing half of the meal away just
because I couldn t eat it all. Also, after going to the Food Bank a few times, I learn that small
things in life can make big differences. For example, MSU Food Bank is collecting

The Factors And Roles Of The Stanford Prison Experiment
Not everything goes according to plan. At Stanford University, an experiment was conducted by a
psychology professor, infamously known as the Stanford prison experiment. The research was
based and held in a prison setting with 24 recruited individuals who were then appointed as either
inmates or guards, the operation was planned for two weeks as well as rules that were meant to be
followed. What would be the fundamental purpose of experimenting with this, why did the head
researcher want to conduct this experiment, how did the use affect the outcome? Why would
someone run an experiment like this? The purpose was to understand the development of norms
and the effects of roles, labels, and social expectations in a simulated prison environment
(Zimbardo, 1971). With the exercise, the researchers were able to investigate how realistic the 24
individuals fit into their roles. With the participants playing into their roles it would hopefully
demonstrate a specific analysis of the situation, as well as the difficulties and hardships between
guards and prisoners within United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps
(Zimbardo,1971). With the funding of the experiment coming from the U.S. Office of Naval
Research, the participants were paid $15 per day. The money compensation gave the individuals a
reason to take this experiment seriously because back at that time $15 would approximately be $90
in 2017. (Banks,1973). Although the experiment had multiple fundamental

Bury The Dead Sparknotes
In 1936, the playwright Irwin Shaw synthesized the groans of a restless generation on the brink of
a subsequent, devastating war into an ominous work of art. Bury the Dead, his expressionistic anti
war agitprop, successfully sympathizes with the lost youth of that war generation, while also
pointing a dark finger at those who perpetrated the conflict. In addition, the play stands at the
pinnacle of early sardonic propaganda. In Shaw s time, the grim reality of a second world war
provided his inspiration. In today s time, another grim reality rises up to inspire a new string of
creative art. James Davison Hunter, a political sociologist, declared in his 1991 book, Culture
War: The Struggle to Define America, that America was embroiled in a war of opinion and social
differences that had irreversibly polarized the country (Hunter). This war could be as deadly to
American unity as the Second World War was to the indomitable spirit of the American doughboy
(Shaw). In light of this comparison, Bury the Dead holds a new, yet equally poignant meaning as a
collection of political pundits, burgeoning party control, and narrowly biased media draws deep
battle lines between this country s people. A transposition of Bury the Dead s pre war setting to a
modern, eerily comfortable juxtaposition of war and American culture would respect the original
themes while presenting a meaningful study on the current division in America. This approach
would also maintain the expressionistic value of

Literary Techniques In The Messenger
Markus Zusak s intricate novel, The Messenger tells a story of a teenager living in a low socio
economic area of Sydney. Throughout the text Zusak employs a variety of literary devices to
assist in the readers connection with Ed s journey of self discovery as well as questioning their
own. Ed Kennedy narrates the book as the protagonist, following his epitome of ordinariness life.
Ed is faced with a number of challenges, which contributes, in his journey of self discovery. Each
literary device used in the book compliments the challenge during the text. Zusak employs
symbolism to allow for connections between the significance of the suits and Ed s experiences.

Ed is described as the cornerstone of mediocrity who lives in a shack in a less desirable part of
town, who has no real potential . Throughout the text Ed completes an array of different tasks
giving the readers an inside perspective of the experiences. Old lady Milla is one of Ed s many
tasks, he supplies her with the company she so desperately needs, but not only did he help her,
she put a piece of her heart inside him. The readers see Ed s transformation from dickhead Ed to
a kind gentlemen willing to spend his time reading to a lonely old lady of which he barely
knows. One of the toughest challenges Ed faces is his Ma, one of his darkest hours as Ed is
forced to confront his mother. Zusak describes Ed standing on the tough women s porch
refusing to leave and demanding an answer as to why she treats him so awfully and with such
disrespect, providing the reader with a suspenseful first person view of the experience. Ma
provided Ed with the answer he was undoubtedly unprepared for, she presented his resemblance of
his father and her thought of how Ed has amounted to nothing . This leaves Ed completely dead

Psoriasis Challenges
Patients who suffer from Psoriasis face many challenges. This skin disease that has no cure is
very difficult to treat and has many physical, emotional and financial problems associated with
it. We, as medical assistants need to be made more aware of this disease. We also need to
educate ourselves so we can help educate our suffering patients. Through education and counsel,
as well as emotional and medical support, we can make a difference in these people s lives.
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin that results in proliferation and
differentiation of keratinocytes and the infiltration of immune cells (1). The keratinized layers
of dead skin do not slough off as normal skin does; instead it builds up on the epidermis. The
normal regulation of cell generation is hindered by the body. This disease affects over 1 2% of
the general population and does not discriminate against any gender. There is no specific time that

on feet that can cause difficulty wearing shoes and walking without discomfort in them, the
psychological effects can be huge. That being said, treatment options can become difficult because
there are many insurance companies that will not cover or reimburse patients for Psoriasis

The Four Functions Of An Economic System
An economic system is the result of individuals (consumers and producers), groups (firms, trade
unions, political parties, families etc) and the government coming together and interacting in a legal
and social society. The function of an economic system is to resolve the basic economic problem
scarcity which means that the resources are limited but wants are infinite. This distribution has
three dimensions:
* What is to be produced
* How is it to be produced
* For whom is it to be produced.
There are 2 economic systems which are commonly used world wide. There are: the free market
system in which the role for the government is limited and the planned system where the
government takes viturally total control. In both of these systmes ... Show more content on

The resources are allocated through a planning mechanism. Some goods and services are prvided
free and some rationed or sold
The characteristics of a command economy:
* Factors of prodction are owned publicly by the government
* No one think of himself Everyone is assumed to be working for the common good
* There are no free enterprise
* There is very little competition which gives rise to black markets
* Since there is no competition there is no price mechanism. The authorities set the prices, and they
are forced to set the prices low to make sure that it is affordable to everyone
* The government has the responsability of planning how all the resources should be used. The
decide what should be produced and in what quantities. In other words they set the output and price
levels.
What is to be produced?
The consumer does not have any control at all on what will be produced. The planners or the
government decide what will be produced, but the main problem which arouses is that the
government does not know what exactly the consumers need. In other words supply is dictated by
a governing body which tries to predict demand however this process is very difficult and it leads
to heavy losses.
How will it be produced?
There is no such thing as firms in a planned economy. The government direct the resources into
producing units They have no autonomy, so basically the government decides the quantities of
output and the methods of production

Characteristics Of The Watermarking System
the CSF characteristics of the HVS in order to embed the watermarking data on selected wavelet
coefficients of the input image. The selected coefficients dwell on the detail sub bands and the
information about the edges of the image were contained in them. Hence, the embedded
information becomes invisible by exploiting the HVS which was less sensitive to alterations on
high frequencies. The success of their method in terms of robustness and transparency was
illustrated by results of the experiments conducted. Their approach performed against the diverse

An adaptive image watermarking algorithm based on HMM in wavelet domain was presented by
Zhang Rong Yue et al. [27]. The algorithm considered both the energy correlation across the scale
and the different sub bands at the same level of the wavelet pyramid and employed a vector HMM
model. Intended for the HMM tree structure, they optimized an embedding strategy. They enhanced
the performance by employing the dynamical threshold schemes. The performance of the HMM
based watermarking algorithm against Stir mark attacks, such as JPEG compression, adding noise,
median cut and filter was radically enhanced.
A multi resolution watermarking method based on the discrete wavelet transform for copyright
protection of digital images was presented by Zolghadrasli and S. Rezazadeh [21]. The watermark
employed was a noise type Gaussian sequence. Watermark components were added to the
significant coefficients of each selected sub band by considering the human visual system in order
to embed the watermark robustly and imperceptibly. They enhanced the HVS model by performing
some small modifications. The extraction of the watermark involved the host image. They
measured the similarities of extracted watermarks using the Normalized Correlation Function. The
robustness of their method against wide variety of attacks was illustrated.

A Place On The Page Essay
A Place on the Page Just north of Chillicothe, Ohio, the land changes from flat, black soil
farmland to rolling, coal filled hills. The place becomes increasingly familiar to me the green
sign for Jesus In the Hills Camp, the brown sign for Leo Petroglyph, friends and relative s homes
and as I navigate the slopes and curves that lead me back to my childhood home in Jackson, a
pleasant nostalgia begins to take some of the tension out of the muscles around my neck and
shoulders. After a decade of twisting and contorting myself into an unsuitable life in Christian
ministry, I began to write and my attention turned back to my home, to that familiar landscape. I
found the beauty in the cultural distinctiveness once taken for granted, even held in contempt. I
had been fed, clothed and educated by money made from mining coal, and I am the product of a
family that valued work and the love of the written word as a conduit for understanding and
contextualizing our place in the world. And so, this is what I write about, the place and the people
I know. Although I am not a Southern writer, I am drawn to writers from the South because of
their distinctive voices and desire never to divorce characters from place. Their stories and
characters struggle with the human condition generational poverty, extractive economies, and
familial dysfunction in the same way that I witnessed people going about their lives in Jackson.

Witch Trials In The Late Medieval Era
It s the turn of an era, the Late Medieval era is ending and the Early Modern era is beginning, the
protestant reformation was happening causing widespread fear in Christians around the world as
the fear that the devil could be anywhere leading Christians away from the light of their lord, The
most feared sect of devil worshippers were the witches and sorcerers, who were believed to have
given their soul to the devil in return for wicked powers beyond the understanding and sight of
man. The first allowance of witch trialswas by the Pope Innocent VIII s with his issuing of the
Summis desiderantes affectibus (in the late Medieval era) which declared that witches were real
and that the Inquisition had papal authority to try them, In 1542 England passed a law making it a
crime to be a witch with the punishment being death, later it was repealed, but was restored by a
new act in 1562, Many laws and decrees like these were issued throughout the Christian world from
1484 to the end of the witch trials in 1782.
The early days of the Witch Trials in Europe and America were marked with many small trials held
in villages throughout both continents with the first being recognized as the burning of accused
witches in Valais Switzerland in 1428 with the estimated prosecuted being somewhere from 100 to
200 this is the recorded estimate until 1430 thereafter there are no records, this occurred after

questions such as...(1) what is motivation and/or employee involvement, (2) how does motivation
affect employment involvement, (3) what affect does employee involvement have towards
increasing organizational effectiveness, and finally (4) what needs to happen to change the
trajectory of low motivation and employee involvement.
The Important Road Ahead: Optimizing Value and Performance
Understanding the motivating basis of a behavior makes it easier to deal with that behavior and
improve performance. Motivation and Employee Involvement are two of the most researched and
often, challenging aspects experienced by organizations and leaders today. Many leaders remain,
despite clear majority of research, ill equipped to motivate their employees or lack understanding of
link between them. Furthermore, studies indicate that the understanding of the importance of
employee involvement by employer is essential to managers because this is a significant predictor
of work behavior among employees (e.g. Manojlovich, Laschinger, Heather, 2002). Thus, to create
responsiveness for operational excellence, the employees representing the organization must be
valued. Creating this balance, it is essential that business designs encompasses offer support and
training for leaders/employees to work well together and appreciate the efforts of each member.

Describe two different forms or methods of Intelligence...
The concept of Open Source intelligence (OSINT) has been placed in too high regard within the
intelligence community and to the detriment of the value of other forms of collection, such as
Signals Intelligence (SIGINT). While useful in the Analysis function of the intelligence cycle,
OSINT, as it has become known, is not and should never be the only form of intelligencecollected.
In order to be of use in achieving a comparative advantage for decision makers, OSINT must be
combined with covert sources like SIGINT. Effective collection of OSINT enables prioritized and
efficient SIGINT collection requirements.

OSINT is not a new concept. Rathmell and Valeri state that Intelligence Agencies have always used
foreign newspapers, academic consultants and debriefings from international travellers. According
to Hulnick, OSINT makes up 70 80% or more of the United States Intelligence Database. Flood
confirms that this is the case in Australia and with the ONA. With the development of computing
technology, the creation of the Internet and the ease in which anyone can publish information,
Hulnick informs that the problem is not where the intelligence is, but rather the ability of analysts
to sort through it . While he continues to say that credible intelligence product can be developed
from OSINT alone, Treverton takes this point to its logical conclusion. He predicts that analysts
will have to compete with CNN, academics, and private organizations like Jane s or STRATFOR
in providing their product. If this is the case, then what separates intelligence collection from
researchers of opinion pieces or journal articles?
The separation is that other forms of intelligence collection are conducted without the authority of
the government or group who owns the information . The value that other intelligence collected can
provide to analysis cannot be overstated. In the case of the Echelon system, to which Australia
contributes, SIGINT

Analysis Of The Article Mitosis Can Drive Cell...
In the article, Mitosis Can Drive Cell Cannibalism Through Entosis , Joanne Durgen (et al.)
suggests that cell division may cause living cells to engulf each other by invading another living
cell. Although the word cannibalism sounds terrible, cell eating cell is very descriptive of what
happens in this process and is shown that it may be beneficial in limiting tumor growth. Briefing
over where entosis is found and what it does, what proteins regulate the entosis process, and
possible beneficial characteristics in human cancerand chemotherapy in this article may give a
better understanding of this microscopic process.
First, let s start with entosis. The beginning of the article states that this cell swallowing process
happens in homotypic epithelial cells (Durgan et al.). It is shown that the functions of this
process uses clinging junctions and the production of actomyosin based contractions. A cell
pushing into or invading into a deformed one gives a way of engulfment. Durgan also shows that
the process just gone over triggers the matrix to break down, causing it to be unstable and unable
to resist the force coming from another cell. In a figurative sense, entosis is like bumpers cars.

they believed belong to them, such as land, territory, and food. As humanity has evolved, the fight
for control and powerhas evolved as well, to where violence and rape have become a normal part

tremendous wonder. A single deed of pure generosity can prove you a hero to those you aid and
care for. Eleanor Roosevelt, a warm hearted, graceful individual, has come to show the world that
she, a woman, wasn t just confined to domestic chores and household work. During a time of
segregation and fighting for women s rights, Eleanor Roosevelt proves her capability to change the
world through acts of charity, passion, and generosity. Eleanor Roosevelt fulfills her duty as First

Eleanor Roosevelt was born into a wealthy and powerful family, since her uncle was the 26th
president of America. After attending a boarding school, Franklin D. Roosevelt, a distant cousin,
began to woo Eleanor Roosevelt, and they got married shortly afterwards. Eleanor Roosevelt s
interest in politics started a little after her husband involvement in government affairs and rise to

Counterfeiting In The Fashion Industry
Consumers want quantity over quality. Nowadays, it appear more and more of the regular
consumers are uninterested in the quality of the product they buy, but rather how much they will
acquire from it. This leads to consumer purchasing fashion counterfeit products which is becoming
a rising issue in the United States and Europe. Counterfeiting is an illegal act of producing and
selling a replica of an authentic product without the permission of the designer. This market
expands from movies, games, money, even medicine to clothes and accessories. Counterfeiting is a
fast growing industry that is a worldwide problem which consumers play a vast role in. Aside from
harmless pirated movies and the danger of fake pharmaceuticals, fashion takes up the largest
portion of counterfeitgoods. To support this statement, according to Simms, Thomas explained,
luxury brands are among the most counterfeited products today the World Customs Organization
states that the fashion industry loses up to $9.7 billion...per year to counterfeiting (Simms 2). The
unethical act of counterfeiting continues to rapidly increase, it is affecting almost all areas of the
industry (Hilton et al. 346). This is a massive problem because it impacts the world socially and
economically. Since counterfeiting is illegal, sales total are not being registered, therefore, it affects
tax revenues and other government spending. Besides tax revenues, unemployment rate decreases
in America and Europe, hence the

A Experiment On Separation And Purification Methods
This experiment introduces separation and purification methods used in research quite frequently.
These methods include hot vacuum filtration and recrystallization to purify a crude sample of
acetanilide containing two impurities. Recrystallization is a very common method that is used to
purify solids. This process dissolves a crude solidwith impurities in a mildly boiling solvent, and
cooling down the mixture afterwards for crystals to reconstruct themselves in solution. This method
allows impurities to separate and remain in solution as precipitate or remain uniform in solution.
Solids are more soluble in hot solvents than in cold ones, allowing maximum dissolution for proper
separation and subsequent crystallization to occur. After purifying the compound, the melting point
is determined using the Mel Temp technology to compare to the written melting point to see how
pure the sample truly is. The proper steps of recrystallization include selecting a solvent that fits
the characteristic of all the components, water in this experiment. Then, dissolving a crude sample
in the chosen solvent (at or close to the solvent boiling point), forming solid in the solution as
cooling takes place, using vacuum filtration to isolate the purified solid, ridding the crystals of all
impurities through drying. In this experiment, recrystallization allows purification of 150 mg of
crude acetanilide. Hot vacuum filtration is a process used. The process requires using a filter flask,

Ancient Greece And Rome During The World
Ancient Greece and Rome are some of the most famous time periods in the world, but what
influenced them? Ancient Greece lasted roughly from 1000 400 B.C.E while ancient Rome was
from 753 B.C. 476 A.D (Cole and Symes, 75). The Greek alphabet was influenced by Phoenician
sea traders and their art was mostly influenced by Egypt and western Asia. On the other hand,
Rome was influenced by the Greek and derived the alphabet, many of their religious beliefs, and
much of their art (Cole and Symes, 147). Ancient Greeceand Rome were influenced by the Ancient
Near East sedentary societies through art, religion, and architecture. Greece was the first society
that was male dominated . Also, sexuality was a part of everyday life for Greeks. If home owners
did not offer hospitality to certain groups of people, then they would be sentenced to death (Garcia
Lecture 2/3/16). The Greeks had extremely strict rules with education and training. Greece is also
known well for their world famous philosophers such as Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, and much more.
Ancient Romestarted as a small town in central Italy, but developed into a vast empire, including
continental Europe, Britain, much of western Asia, northern Africa and the Mediterranean islands.
Although Rome was influenced by many aspects of Greek life, they downplayed their influence in
mythology, preferring to emphasize their alleged descent from the Trojans (Cole and Symes, 147).
The social structure of Rome was based on hereditary,

Roller Coaster Narrative
Bright lights, screaming girls, and loud music were all around. I knew this would be the night
of my life and I have never been any more excited for anything else in the world. This was the
night that I have been waiting for ever since I could remember. The sound of my alarm clock
awakened me on Christmas morning. My very first thought when I woke up was presents. I
knew my parents told me there was no way of getting Justin Bieber tickets for Christmas but I
still had some hope. I sprung out of bed and ran up the stairs so fast that when I was upstairs I
was out of breath. Once my dad got out of bed, my mom and little brother,Reegan, were all ready
to open our gifts. Before I opened any gifts my mom looks at me in the eyes and tells me one...

It looks way to scary and I m not doing it. AdventureLand had made a new roller coaster that
opened a week before we came called The Monster. This roller coaster, you go upside down
multiple times, go super high, and has many twists and turns. What I think that made the ride so
scary is that it had no bars that went over your shoulder so it looked like you could fall out of
your seat easily. How can you go to an amusement park and not ride the best ride there? I knew I
could talk her into riding it at sometime but I just ignored her comment about not riding the
coaster. Michaela and I quickly agreed on what rides to ride and went on from rides to rides.
Before entering the line for a smaller roller coaster called The Tornado, Michaela was hesitant
even ride this rollercoaster but with a little bit of convincing, she jumped in line with me. After
five minutes of waiting in line, Michaela and I got to the front and saw the old rigidity cart pull
up in front of us. We got in our seat and sat down. We go up the first hill screaming loudly. Then
there was a quick turn and I felt an odd substance hit my face. I thought to myself that this wasn t a
water ride. I look over to see Michaela and all I saw was her laughing. She exclaimed how she was
sorry because she drooled on me. I felt so disgusted yet I had to laugh. Later on that day, after
riding many rides we did end up riding The Monster and it was so fun but when it was 5 o clock we
headed back to the hotel room to get ready for the

Persuasive Language In Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick...
In the book Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass written by himself, Douglass writes about
his experiences as a slave in the 1800 s. In the beginning of the book, he explains that he does
not know his age because most slaves are not allowed to know their age. Douglass recalls the
memory of his aunt getting tied and whipped until she was covered in blood at a very young age.
He reveals to us that slaves only get extremely limited allowances throughout a year. Children
barely get any clothing to wear, while all of them just get barely enough food to survive, He also
says that slaves have to lie half the time to avoid getting whipped and beaten.
This book gives us a real insight on how bad slavery was, how Douglass coped with it, and
eventually how he escapes from it later in the book. Douglass uses persuasive language to show
the true colors of slavery, and he uses his own experiences of being a slave himself to his
advantage by giving us accounts of his life as a slave. In this essay, I want to focus on the truth,
why slaves have to lie their way out of certain situations, and go more in depth of how Douglass
language is highly persuasive to the abolitionists of that time.
I want to focus on one specific part in this essay, a part that is very descriptive, persuasive, and
analyze deep into the text. The slave in this quote has no idea that the person they are talking to is
their actual master. It states:
The colonel, after ascertaining whom the slave belonged to,

Using Resistant Soybean Cultivar And Crop Rotation
Soybean cyst management tactics include different method from place to place, but all have the
common method of using resistant soybean cultivar and crop rotation and these are found to be
more effective than others.(Niblack et al., 2003, Schmitt et al., 2004). Lotus japonicus is one of
the important model leguminous plant to study the interaction and compatibility of plant
parasitic nematode to cause infection (Lohar Bird, 2003). There are large number of resistant
soybean cultivar to SCN and most of the resistance is derived from the PI88788 and other
PI548402 and PI437654 and grower are also encouraged to do crop rotation along with the use of
these cultivar because of continues planting of the same variety supports the pathogen to changing
the race for overcoming the resistance (Niblack, 2005, Tylka Mullaney, 2002). Only occasional
planting of SCN resistant without any rotation allow to reproduce aggressively in resistant line
because of selection pressure allowing changing the race to overcome resistance (Young, 1998,
Young Hartwig, 1988, Young, 1984) Annual ryegrass, Lolium multiflorum residue is found to be
effective to reduce the H. glycines population by increasing the hatching of eggs of nematode in
the absence of host and depletion of lipid reserved in juvenile and decreases the parasitism of the
pathogen. (Riga et al., 2001, Mock et al., 2009) Rotation between resistant soybean and corn
annually caused the lower in SCN population along with higher

Canadian Multiculturalism Act And The Canadian Charter Of...
Introduction
Multiculturalism has always been perceived as one of the integral components of Canadian
Culture . Under the Canadian Multiculturalism Act, Canadian citizens are free to exercise their
religious and cultural practices . However, niqab ban takes effect in some public aspects of
Canada . Supporters of the ban believes that wearing niqab is not a part of the Canadian Culture and
should be banned in order to free Muslim Women from oppression . Niqab ban, however, infringes
on the religious and cultural freedom instilled in the Canadian Multiculturalism Act and the
Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom and is unlawful . A careful examination on Canadian
culture and laws, the origins and arguments of the ban, and its implications is needed in order to
further understand the issue.
The Canadian Culture
Canada has never acknowledged itself as a homogeneous nation but rather rooted in diversity . The
government assume a neutral role in regards to religion and accommodation, keeping in mind the
goal of integration based on differences . Immigrants are placed in a different situation where they
are expected to adopt and assimilate elements of the Canadian culture and at the same time still try
to keep their own cultural identity . Canada is known for encouraging diversity and has a positive
perspective on minority group s traditional practices . The Multiculturalism Act is supposed to give
the same and fair recognition and accommodation for non dominant groups .

Nuclear Technology And Its Impact On The Atomic Age
On August 6th and 9th, 1945 the first atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Japan. With the use of these new weapons a door was opened that could never be closed, a new
and uncertain era was now upon the world, and the use of atomic power could mean the betterment
or destruction of a nation at a moment s notice. Whether you like it or not, you live in the atomic
age and it can have many implications that you may or may not know about. The Manhattan Project
is well known to have developed the first two atomic bombs, fat man, and little boy, but nuclear
technology was being researched many years before this. Uraniumwas first found in 1789 by Martin
Klaproth, and was discovered to have ionizing radiation in 1895 by Wilhelm Rontgen (Outline
History of Nuclear Energy). More and more information on uranium and other materials were being
discovered, such as: radioactive materials emitting alpha particles in 1896 by Henri Becquerel, in
1902 the discovery of radiation being a spontaneous event by Ernest Rutherford, Niels Bohr and his
increased understanding of the atom, in 1932 when James Chadwick discovered the neutron, etc.
Other nations also spent resources on developing nuclear technology such as in Russia with their
Radium Institute of Leningrad FTI, but was hampered with Stalin s purges that eliminated
prominent scientists working there; British scientists developed the concept of the atomic bomb
with the MAUD committee in 1940 and continued research on the

  • 2. Difference Between Sports And Sports Tourism One of the coolest, yet most infuriating parts about the English language is that there are multiple words that have very similar, yet different, meanings. Leisure, play, recreation, and sport and tourism can be related to each other and used to describe each other. Often time s people consider sport tourism, recreation, and play as a leisureactivity. On the other hand, recreation does not necessarily always refer to a leisure activity. The definition and classification of each activity into these categories can change with time. As time goes on and the world becomes for technology advanced, people find new activities to participate in. An activity that one person might consider leisure, another person could consider work, and therefore it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Definitions.net defines sport tourisim as travel which involves either observing or participating in a sport event stay apart from their usual environment (Translations for Sport Tourism, 2018). I believe sport tourism is a very large sector of the global travel industry today. People are constantly traveling to watch their favorite team compete in an opponent s stadium or travel to compete in their own activities. People love to travel and experience new places. When combining sports with travel, it is the best of both worlds. Escaping from your usual environment and experiencing something new and challenging is one of the reasons why people enjoy to travel. I personally know multiple people who travel to different cities to watch a sports team or to participate in some kind of racing event. Sport tourism, to me, is considered leisure time. I personally enjoy traveling to other cities/states to watch my favorite team play. One of my favorite experiences was traveling to Orland, Florida, to watch the University of Memphis play in the conference championship football game. At the beginning of eighth grade I was excited and worried for the year to come. Now I think of this year and I think of how fast it went, the fun I had, and the troubles I had. I think of how I am going into high school. It s hard to believe. I am not here to talk to you about freaking out about high school. I want to tell you about eighth grade and what you will experience. I have three stories to tell you. Only three. Three stories about failure and help, perseverance, and faith. The first story is about failure. Failure is something I was afraid of, especially in math. I never wanted to fail. I wanted to try my best and do amazing on everything. Sadly, being perfect isn t how the world works. In math, at the end of the year, I was really worried about a unit we were doing. At first I thought I knew what I was doing. I had a good handle on the problems in class and on the homework. When it came to the first quiz, I failed it. When I saw the score on the computer screen I almost burst into tears. I was harder on myself than anyone was on me. I knew I tried my best, but I didn t feel like it. I had never failed before. The teacher came around the next day and asked if I needed any extra help. At first I was thinking, no. I do not need help. Later that night I changed my mind. I went to her class during my lunch and she answered my questions and helped me on some practice problems. WSNs works entirely on sensors which sense physical as well as environmental conditions such as temperature, sound, pressure, noise etc. We have come along with lots and lots of services in Industrial monitoring, health care monitoring, and environmental monitoring using WSNs. I came across an interesting journal of Intelligent Parking Lot Application using Wireless SensorNetworks by Sangwon Lee, Dukhee Yoon and Amitabha Ghosh, 2008. The writers further explained the detection algorithms for both the sensors: for magnetometers, a raw data is obtained which went through 6 different mathematical steps including oscillation prevention, noise reduction, and accuracy detection. This will finally give 5 state machine stages which will correspond to the track of local minimums and maximums and will depict if a vehicle is passed. Ultrasonic sensors, works simply on distance measurement from object to sensors. A flowchart was shown which worked on 2 important factors i.e. Distance_threshold(DiT) and Duration_threshold(DuT). Both DiT and DuT values are dependent on the placement of sensors in the parking lot and if is less than required, a counter is activated until desired value and as the value exceeds, a vehicle is detected. Catechol Oxidase Enzyme Lab The Influence of pH and Temperature on Enzyme Activity Madeline Foy Biology 140 Lab Professor Himes April 12, 2016 Abstract In order to see the effects of pH and temperature on the enzymatic reaction of catechol oxidase when separated from potato tissue. We used a spectrophotometer to measure how much blue light energy is absorbed by benzoquinone. Benzoquinone is a product of catechol when it has been oxidized by different temperatures and pHs. We hypothesized that the benzoquinone absorbance rate would be faster when the pH added to the cuvettes were greater than the pH of the potato tissue. The pH of the potato tissue was pH 6. Our hypothesis states that the benzoquinone absorbance rate would be faster when the pH added to the cuvettes were greater than the pH of the potato tissue. At pH 7, reaction rates were the fastest, but not at pH 10 like we predicted. We predicted that pH 4 would have the slowest to no reaction rate, but it was faster than pH 10 because the potato tissue has a pH 6 and the pH 4 was closest to the pH of the potato tissue. A possible reason our hypothesis was only partially supported was because of possible cross contamination when preparing the cuvettes by not using different disposable pipets for each pH solution, or the test tubes could have been labeled wrong which caused them to be mixed up. In future experiments, we should look at the effects of pHs closer to the pH of the potato tissue because we can infer that closer pHs to the pH of potato tissue will have a faster reaction rate causing the potatoes to turn brown ... These two questions have been debated many times by philosophers all around the world but they have yet to give a certain answer. Everyday, we use the concept of time to measure how long an event is, to tell someone when to do what and to place your events of the day in order. We are constantly using the perception of timein our sentences, but is time actually real? I personally think that time is an illusion. I believe this because time is simply something that gives order to our events, we do not progress in time and that time is simply an illusion created by us. Time is something that reminds us when there is an event that we must attend to. If you look at a clock, all you see is a bunch of numbers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Saint Augustine stated that there are three times; a present time about things past, a present time about things present, a present time about things future. The future exists only as expectations, the past exists only as memory, but expectation and memory exist in the present. This means that you cannot relive the past because you are always in the present time. Even if you are remembering a memory from the past or waiting for something in the future, you are still in the present. Marina Abramovic quotes: Time is an illusion. Time only exists when we think about the past and the future. Time doesn t exist in the present here and now. This means that we only think that there is time since there is a past and future. As time flows, the present is always updating itself every millisecond. As you read this sentence, you might think that you are in the present but the moment is no longer happening. After you read the sentence, that time you read it becomes the past. If you backtrack to the memory of you reading the sentence, you are still in the present even though you are thinking of the past. If you look at the clock, in one minute the you that you are now will be in the past. The future you will become the present you and then almost instantly become the past you. One striking difference when comparing the Bundestag with the British Parliament is the lack of time spent on serving constituents in Germany. This is in part due to Germany s electoral system. Despite these constraints especially those deputies that are elected directly normally try to keep close contact with their constituents and to help them with their problems, particularly when they are related to federal policies or agencies. The Tragedy of Shakespeare s Othello William Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice provides an intriguing perspective regarding matters related to race, envy, and treachery. Othello is a powerful and influential Moorish general in the Venetian army, Desdemona is his wife, much younger than him and the reason for which the general is hated, and Iagois Othellos seemingly trusted lieutenant. The relationship between these three characters is complex and it actually one of the principal reason for which the play holds a great deal of stratagems that puts each of the individuals in a delicate position requiring more or less moral attitudes from them. While Iago appears to be a good tactician, he is willing to do everything in his power in order to upgrade his position, regardless of the effects that his actions might have on other individuals. His fury is amplified by the fact that he believes that Othello slept with his wife, Emilia. This information points toward the idea that Iago would have second thoughts about working against Othello if the circumstances would not force him to do so. Othello and Desdemona are trustful individuals in a society which does not have place for such people. In spite of the fact that they are determined to put across true feelings regarding how they feel, the fact that they yield to Iago s pressures to befriend them plays a destructive role in their lives. A recurring idea called Gnostism is an example of flawed theology which can be exposed by the Creation story. The Gnostics claimed that the one true God is too high and pure to be contaminated by our lower, physical reality. . . Thus, when Gnostics read the Old Testament, they concluded that the God presented there must be an inferior god. (Wittmer) The story of Creation reminds Christians of how the world should be, well and good, and can help to paint a clearer picture of what the restored earth will be like. The Gnostic ideas are valid only if God created an imperfect world. Christians know, because of the Creation story, that God created a perfect world. Christianity, like its parent faith, Judaism, embraced what he [N. T. Wright] and others called creational monotheism. They affirmed the goodness of creation and of God s continual activity within creation. Thus, for them, salvation was not a matter of being delivered from the material world to a state of disembodied bliss, but instead, a restoration of God s intended order for the creation. It seems difficult for one person, man or woman to commit to being with one spouse, therefore the divorce rates are increasing every day. The question remains whether this act should be legalized or not. Polygamy is having more than one spouse. There are different types of polygamy; these include polygamy where a man has multiple wives, polyandry in which a woman has multiple husbands, and group marriage where a family consists of multiple husbands and wives. Polygamy is definitely the most popular of the three listed. In the United States the practice of any form of polygamy is illegal and due to this law, many adherents of the lifestyle stays hidden. My perspective of polygamy is that having more than one spouse should remain illegal because marriage means committing to one person alone. While these advantages can be seen as something that can only benefit people, Turkle explains that the reality of this phenomenon must be taken into deeper consideration when concerning how this affects people psychologically. Turkle examination on the long lasting effects that technology can have on conversation begins with the story of an experience she had conversing with a school who worried that their students were beginning to lose empathy and find it difficult to connect or to make friends because they were raised not knowing a life without advanced technology or social media. Why would someone run an experiment like this? The purpose was to understand the development of norms and the effects of roles, labels, and social expectations in a simulated prison environment (Zimbardo, 1971). With the exercise, the researchers were able to investigate how realistic the 24 individuals fit into their roles. With the participants playing into their roles it would hopefully demonstrate a specific analysis of the situation, as well as the difficulties and hardships between guards and prisoners within United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps (Zimbardo,1971). • 21. Bury The Dead Sparknotes In 1936, the playwright Irwin Shaw synthesized the groans of a restless generation on the brink of a subsequent, devastating war into an ominous work of art. Bury the Dead, his expressionistic anti war agitprop, successfully sympathizes with the lost youth of that war generation, while also pointing a dark finger at those who perpetrated the conflict. In addition, the play stands at the pinnacle of early sardonic propaganda. In Shaw s time, the grim reality of a second world war provided his inspiration. In today s time, another grim reality rises up to inspire a new string of creative art. James Davison Hunter, a political sociologist, declared in his 1991 book, Culture War: The Struggle to Define America, that America was embroiled in a war of opinion and social differences that had irreversibly polarized the country (Hunter). This war could be as deadly to American unity as the Second World War was to the indomitable spirit of the American doughboy (Shaw). In light of this comparison, Bury the Dead holds a new, yet equally poignant meaning as a collection of political pundits, burgeoning party control, and narrowly biased media draws deep battle lines between this country s people. A transposition of Bury the Dead s pre war setting to a modern, eerily comfortable juxtaposition of war and American culture would respect the original themes while presenting a meaningful study on the current division in America. This distribution has three dimensions: * What is to be produced * How is it to be produced * For whom is it to be produced. There are 2 economic systems which are commonly used world wide. Many leaders remain, despite clear majority of research, ill equipped to motivate their employees or lack understanding of link between them. Furthermore, studies indicate that the understanding of the importance of employee involvement by employer is essential to managers because this is a significant predictor of work behavior among employees (e.g. Manojlovich, Laschinger, Heather, 2002). Thus, to create responsiveness for operational excellence, the employees representing the organization must be valued. Briefing over where entosis is found and what it does, what proteins regulate the entosis process, and possible beneficial characteristics in human cancerand chemotherapy in this article may give a better understanding of this microscopic process. First, let s start with entosis. The beginning of the article states that this cell swallowing process happens in homotypic epithelial cells (Durgan et al.). It is shown that the functions of this process uses clinging junctions and the production of actomyosin based contractions. A cell pushing into or invading into a deformed one gives a way of engulfment. Durgan also shows that the process just gone over triggers the matrix to break down, causing it to be unstable and unable to resist the force coming from another cell. • 42. A Experiment On Separation And Purification Methods This experiment introduces separation and purification methods used in research quite frequently. These methods include hot vacuum filtration and recrystallization to purify a crude sample of acetanilide containing two impurities. Recrystallization is a very common method that is used to purify solids. This process dissolves a crude solidwith impurities in a mildly boiling solvent, and cooling down the mixture afterwards for crystals to reconstruct themselves in solution. This method allows impurities to separate and remain in solution as precipitate or remain uniform in solution. Solids are more soluble in hot solvents than in cold ones, allowing maximum dissolution for proper separation and subsequent crystallization to occur. After purifying the compound, the melting point is determined using the Mel Temp technology to compare to the written melting point to see how pure the sample truly is. The proper steps of recrystallization include selecting a solvent that fits the characteristic of all the components, water in this experiment. Then, dissolving a crude sample in the chosen solvent (at or close to the solvent boiling point), forming solid in the solution as cooling takes place, using vacuum filtration to isolate the purified solid, ridding the crystals of all impurities through drying. In the book Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass written by himself, Douglass writes about his experiences as a slave in the 1800 s. In the beginning of the book, he explains that he does not know his age because most slaves are not allowed to know their age. Douglass recalls the memory of his aunt getting tied and whipped until she was covered in blood at a very young age. He reveals to us that slaves only get extremely limited allowances throughout a year. Children barely get any clothing to wear, while all of them just get barely enough food to survive, He also says that slaves have to lie half the time to avoid getting whipped and beaten. This book gives us a real insight on how bad slavery was, how Douglass coped with it, and eventually how he escapes from it later in the book. Douglass uses persuasive language to show the true colors of slavery, and he uses his own experiences of being a slave himself to his advantage by giving us accounts of his life as a slave. Using Resistant Soybean Cultivar And Crop Rotation Soybean cyst management tactics include different method from place to place, but all have the common method of using resistant soybean cultivar and crop rotation and these are found to be more effective than others.(Niblack et al., 2003, Schmitt et al., 2004). Lotus japonicus is one of the important model leguminous plant to study the interaction and compatibility of plant parasitic nematode to cause infection (Lohar Bird, 2003). There are large number of resistant soybean cultivar to SCN and most of the resistance is derived from the PI88788 and other PI548402 and PI437654 and grower are also encouraged to do crop rotation along with the use of these cultivar because of continues planting of the same variety supports the pathogen to changing the race for overcoming the resistance (Niblack, 2005, Tylka Mullaney, 2002). Only occasional planting of SCN resistant without any rotation allow to reproduce aggressively in resistant line because of selection pressure allowing changing the race to overcome resistance (Young, 1998, Young Hartwig, 1988, Young, 1984) Annual ryegrass, Lolium multiflorum residue is found to be effective to reduce the H. glycines population by increasing the hatching of eggs of nematode in the absence of host and depletion of lipid reserved in juvenile and decreases the parasitism of the pathogen. (Riga et al., 2001, Mock et al., 2009) Rotation between resistant soybean and corn annually caused the lower in SCN population along with higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
