COMMON NOUNS AND PROPER NOUNSCOMMON NOUNS
Common Nouns refer to the general type of a Proper
Noun. It names any/general person, place, animal,
things, or idea. For examples: the man, the
presidents, the artist, the river, the mountain, etc.
Example:
The manager is having meeting now.
There are many rivers in Thailand.
PROPER NOUNS
Proper Nouns Refer to the Particular/specific of the
Noun. It names specific person , place animals,
things or idea. Proper Nouns Begins with Capital
Letter
For examples: the names of months, days, people
and their title, mountains, rivers, book, movies, etc.
Examples:
I like reading New York Times.

CONCRETE NOUN AND ABSTRACT NOUNS
Concrete Nouns
Refer to things that are real. We can touch, see, feel, hear, smell,
or taste them. It can be countable, uncountable, common,
proper, and collective nouns. For examples: table, chair, deer,
sugar, mountain, a team, a group of students, etc.
Abstract Nouns
Refer to things that are not concrete. They refer to emotions,
ideas, concepts, traits, experiences, or a state of being. For
Examples: patience, love, right, luck, sorrow, plan, democracy,
liberty, talent, failure, etc.

SINGULAR NOUN AND PLURAL NOUNS
Singular Nouns
Refer to one thing, place, person, or idea. For Examples:

secretary, an umbrella, an office etc.
Plural Nouns
Refer to more than one thing, place, person, or idea.
For examples: some books, two cars, three boys, four
teachers, several hotels, many bridges, etc.

COUNTABLE NOUN AND UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS
Countable Nouns
Refer to a noun that can be counted. Countable nouns
can be singular or plural. For Examples: chair, car, dogs,
school, trucks, flag, bag, city, etc.
Uncountable Nouns
Refer to a noun that cannot be counted. It always
singular.
For examples: water, salt, milk, coffee, juice, beauty,
rain, etc.

COMPOUND NOUN AND COLLECTIVE NOUNS
Compound Nouns
Refer to a noun that is made with two or more words. It can be written in
three ways.
For Examples
• One word: bedroom, rainfall
• Joined by hyphen: son-in-law, mother-in-law
• Written as separate word: credit card, swimming pool
Collective Nouns
Refer to a group of people, animals, or things.
Examples: a class of students, a group of singers, a tribe of nations, etc.
