No Essay College Scholarship
Writing an essay on the topic of the "No Essay College Scholarship" may seem paradoxical at
first glance. The irony lies in the fact that while the scholarship itself boasts of requiring no essay
for application, crafting an essay about this very subject poses its own set of challenges.
The task becomes intricate because the absence of a traditional essay prompt leaves the writer in
a somewhat ambiguous position. Without a specific topic or question to address, one must
navigate the nuances of discussing a scholarship that defies conventional expectations. It requires
a delicate balance of conveying the scholarship's unique approach while also delving into the
broader implications of a scholarship that omits the traditional essay requirement.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding repetition and clichГ©s. The temptation to emphasize
the irony of writing an essay about a "No Essay" scholarship may lead to trite observations.
Striking a balance between originality and relevance becomes crucial in order to capture the
reader's attention and maintain their interest throughout the essay.
Addressing the significance of a scholarship that values alternative forms of expression over the
traditional written essay introduces another layer of complexity. One must explore the
implications of such an approach on the broader landscape of college admissions and scholarship
criteria.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the "No Essay College Scholarship" is a unique challenge that
requires navigating the intricacies of discussing a scholarship that intentionally deviates from the
norm. It demands creativity, critical thinking, and the ability to explore the broader implications
of a scholarship that values unconventional forms of expression.

Mid-Term Break Essay
The poem Mid Term Break by Seamus Heaney is a first person ballad concerning
the death of a boy s 4 year old brother while he was away at boarding school, and the
individual reactions of each of his family members towards the tragedy. Poet Seamus
Heaney did well at taking the extremely heavy subject of a child s death, and
producing a substantially lighter poem that still resonated the right emotions for the
theme of the poem.
In my opinion, Mid Term Break can be broken up into three different sections. The
first of these sections includes Stanza 1, where the boy is still at school. The first
section of the poem describes the main character waiting in the sick bay for someone
to drive him home, which tells the reader that ... Show more content on

The sentence as my mother held my hand in hers and coughed out angry tearless
sighs also gives the reader an insight into just how shattered the family is after the
death, as his mother is described as being too upset to cry, and that the main
character feels that he now has to step up, being the oldest child, and comfort his
family as an adult.
The final part of the poem is the boy goes to the room where his brothers body is
being is laid out. This is the event that the entire poem has been moving towards,
essentially the climax of the whole poem. The final stanzas of the poem emphasise
how tragic the event is, by leading the reader to imagine the younger brother as a
helpless, pure, and peaceful child. Through the line He lay in the four foot box as
in his cot, the younger brothers youth and purity is better exemplified. The imagery
used in the third section of Mid Term Break is the last goodbye when the main
character goes to visit his younger brother, as he hasn t seen him in six weeks. This
final goodbye is the peak of emotion in the poem, and takes the awkward subject of
peace and gives it a form of peace and serenity. The final goodbye also refers back
to the deeper meaning of becoming an adult, as the main character is not only saying
goodbye to his baby brother, but also his childhood.
Seamus Heaney s choice of words in this poem is what
Once A Mission Girl Dj Agana Analysis
In Once A Mission Girl Always a Mission Girl , DJ Agana uses icons of girls in the
mural to conveys a story of two empowered women of color , that are loved by their
community , become leaders in the mission . With the use of purple and pink, Dj
Agana mural creates a friendly engagement for the target audience: girls. With the use
of the femalegendersymbol and heart, Dj Agana conveys the love for the girls is
deep. The eyes of the girls convey confidence in themselves and others because of
their approachability. Because the mural is located on the wall of the Mission Girl
organization, the birds and roses enhances the message of Mission girl: growth and
protection of the latina and girls of color. In comparison to Instant Mural by Asco,
both murals highlight the visual presence of the Latina community. In Faith
Ringgold s For the Women s House oil painting is site specific to women of color to
convey empowerment with the use of figuration like in Mission Girls . In Both
Mission Girls and The Day of the Dead Mural , both works display more than one
women together to convey female unity. The figures are used to convey known and
unknown leaders within the community.
Once a Mission Girl, is a site specific mural that enhances the core values of the
organization called Mission Girls as well. It is located on 24th street and Harrison
Street. The Mission Girl organization is part of The Mission Neighborhood program

Aussie s hair products is plastered on a two page spread that suggests that women
can improve their beauty, specifically their hair, by using Aussie brand products.
Women today are held to high standards of beauty. Needing to look as skinny as the
supermodel on page six, flawless makeup and skin that is shown on the face of a
well known actress, and glossy soft hair that appears on the Aussie advertisement. In
the world we live in there is no such thing as perfect; however that doesn t stop the
media, people, and advertising for implanting the idea into our conscience that by
using these products we can take a step closer to society s definition of beauty.

Tkam Character Analysis
The Chosen, By Chaim Potok is an interesting and thought provoking read, yet the
moral ideas and thought provoking actions of the characters in To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee, will leave a lasting impact on one s life. Throughout
both novels characters are forced to make important decisions and difficult choices.
The 2nd novelmentioned, To Kill a Mockingbird, stands out among the two due to the
type of moral choices expressed, the way that the book connects the reader with the
characters, and the many well written plottwists and story lines. The Chosen has most
of these attributes as well, yet the author did not express them nearly as well as the
author of the other novel. Both novels are marvelously written and carry important
lessons. The lessons of TKAM were more interesting however, and connected the
reader s thoughts with that of the characters.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Moral choices in TKAM are seemingly more relevant than those of The Chosen
however, playing a larger role and occurring more often in day to day life.
Throughout TKAM the characters are forced to make choices such as, risking their
life for someone else s, helping someone who is despised by the community, and
backing down instead of lashing out. All of these important decisions occur during
today s era and this book gives important insight on how to decide what to do when
faced with said decisions. The Chosen includes many of these decisions as well, yet
the characters are faced with them in a more foreign situation than that of the
characters In TKAM. All of these moral decisions faced by the characters in the novel
would not be nearly as meaningful if the reader were not able to connect with the
characters and understand their thought
Han China And Rome Comparison Essay
Similarities shared between the Han dynasty and the Roman empire were the
amount of years both empires lasted, which was more than 400 years with the
Roman empire lasting some decades longer. Their governments were also very
similar, and although the Roman empire had a Republic, it was only a Republic in
name and really functioned as an Absolute Monarchy like the Han dynasty. Their
economy both depended on agriculture, so the source of wealth was based on land
ownership, and the government revenues were based on a percentage tax on the
annual harvest. They both had roads built to unify the empires and crucial regions
by improving communications, trade, access to resources, and military movement.
In the area of family and society, both lived by a patriarchy and fathers were revered
by their families, their households had shrines dedicated to their ancestors and to
ensure good fortune on the living they held rituals. Both empires had rituals and
themes that ensured loyalty to the empire, as well as being exposed to new religions...

The heartland of the Han dynasty, compared to that of the Roman empire, was
significantly larger and more cohesive, both geographically and culturally. The Han
dynasty followed the philosophies of Confucianism which focused on bonds
between people to ensure conformity and peace within society. They believed in
living a virtuous life and the rewards that came with it. A major difference between
the Han and the Roman was that the people they conquered were integrated into their
society both culturally and biologically. Confucianism and Buddhist ideology,
backed by the emperor s power and armies, is what held the empire together. Another
major difference between the two empires is that once the Han dynasty was
destroyed, it was eventually revived by later

Literature dates back all the way to 5th century AD overtime Literary works have
been develop such as novel, poems, and short stories. Short Stories are described has
miniature versions of books or novels, where an author takes a tale and crams it into
a ten to twenty page story. John Steinbeck is not only a well known novelist, but also
writes short stories like The Chrysanthemums and Flight . In Steinbeck s The
Chrysthemums Elisa Allen is married to a negligent ranch owner. While her husband
works on the ranch, Elisa tends to her chrysanthemum garden daily. One day while
tending to her garden, a charming tinker man pulls up to her in his wagon and tries to

The cattle on the higher slopes were becoming shaggy and rough coated (p.3).
Creating a descriptive image of what the Allen s farm is like and even giving off
some of the five senses while reading those few sentences. Steinbeck in Flight
creates the setting for the Torress home, describing how The little shack, the
rattling, rotting barn were gray bitten with sea salt, beaten by the damp wind until
they had taken on the color of the granite hills (p.1). He gives the reader a live
image of the weather, the families home, and the nature setting of the story. He uses
great detail in creating the setting in each of these stories because it sets the tone
and atmosphere for each of them. Steinbeck uses his setting to set the theme and
tone in his short stories, making the element crucial in each story. In both Flight and
The Chrysanthemums, PepГ© and Elisa struggle with their identity and who they
are. PepГ© is nineteen with a dead father, a mother, and two younger siblings. He
wants his right to manhood but his mother wants to keep him under wing. This is
where the two have conflict, his mother constantly makes him feel like a child and
PepГ© just wants to show himself and his family that he is ready to be a man.
Steinbeck shows this by writing how Mama thought him fine and brave, but she
never told him so. She said, Some lazy cow must have got into thy father s family,

The Departed And Infernal Affairs
After watching both films, it is safe to say that Infernal Affairs out ranks the
Departed by a substantial amount. The Departed is an American remake of the
Chinese film Infernal Affairs. Both movies reveal the secret life of moles for a
gang and the police force. Even though the Departed stays pretty close to the original
screenplay, there are some differences that both add to each film and takes away
from the plot. In all, besides their differences, the Departedand Infernal Affairsboth
create a thrilling story of the mafia. The first major difference that caught my eye is
the similar love interest in the Departed. In this rendition, Billy Costigan (Leonardo
DiCaprio) and Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) both share an interest with the police
psychiatrist. This adds a unique way to connect the characters. Throughout the film,
Billy and Colin never met or interacted with each other. However, with both of them
visiting the psychiatrist, it provides them with a connection. This creates a sense of
knowledge to the audience. It gives a sense of a what if scenario. When I learned of
this same love interest, I kept thinking what if they both decided to meet her at the
same time, what would happen . This gave me a suspense not like other murder
thrillers, but more of a what if they finally meet moment.
Another difference that is noteworthy is when the police chief is thrown off the
building by the gang members. The Departed created a more realistic scene to me
rather than

hauling the boy out of the car arm to arm, they helped the boy inside his house.
The teenager s father woke up rubbing his eyes as he got up and was in a shock.
The policemen explained the incident. He widened his eyes as he started getting
extremely uneasy. Just as the two men were going to head back to their duty, the
scrawny one with the long beard spotted a couple of bags labelled on a table in the
kitchen at the far back. He walked towards it squinting and gestured his police
partner towards him. Everyone came rushing to the kitchen table and there were
five small plastic bags with white substance inside them. Each labelled differently:
$50, $70, $70, $100 and $150. The boy s father stuttered and attempted to convince
the police it s not what it s like. The policemen looked at each other shaking their
heads. 10 minutes later, after the police left with their dad, the boy s running from

Gun Ownership And Gun Control Laws
Gun Control No doubt, America is one of the most powerful countries and the world
s economic power, but there are still many social issues that cause numerous debates
and urgently need to be solved. For example, the increasing unemployment, racism,
inequality and gun control. In recent years, shooting accidents happen frequently in
the United States, which causes great concern about gun ownership and use in the
whole society. Generally, there are two opposite attitudes towards gun control in the
United States. On the one hand, some people firmly urge the government to restrict
gun ownership and gun rights in order to avoid gun violence and perfect gun control
laws. On the other hand, plenty of people still want to protect their rights to own
guns. The United States should put more restriction on gun ownership and use,
because safety problems, the high rate of gun related crime and the loophole of gun
control laws. Many people stress that they feel safer when carrying a gun or hiding it
in the house. One of the reasons why they expect to own it is just to protect
themselves from attacks. If an attack happens, they can protect themselves and their
property when they own a perfect self defense tool. Though their thought is
understandable and common, actually, guns bring more harm rather than more
protection from the whole perspective. In other words, people are in a more
dangerous situation with guns. Trauma found that guns in the home were more likely
to be used for gun
Compare And Contrast Shakespeare And Sonnet 130
Shakespeare s Lovely Sonnets
William Shakespeare is a famous playwright and poet whose pieces are still well
known in the modern world. Some of these well known pieces are his sonnets
written about love. Sonnet 18 and Sonnet 130 are examples of these love poems.
These sonnets convey Shakespeare s love in different ways. Sonnet 18 expresses
superiority over another subject, and Sonnet 130 expresses uniqueness. Although the
attitudes of Sonnet 18 and Sonnet 130 are different, Shakespeare uses comparisons,
exaggerations, and vivid words to portray the message of love in both sonnets. First
of all, Shakespeare wrote Sonnet 18 to essentially complement the poem itself and his
own writing. To describe the beauty of the recipient ... Show more content on

Sonnet 130 is about Shakespeare s mistress. In this poem, he uses comparisons to
describe his mistress as ugly. One comparison that Shakespeare makes is, If hairs
be wires, black wires grow on her head. In this comparison, Shakespeare relates
hairs to wires to represent the coarseness of the hair of his mistress. When read by
itself, the comparison does not display love. Yet later on in the poem, Shakespeare
explains that even though her mistress may be uglier when compared to other
women, but she is rare and unique. The fact that Shakespeare considers his love as
rare shows that he loves her. Although the comparison itself in Sonnet 130 is
negative while the comparison in Sonnet 18 is positive, both poems compare one
subject to another to enhance the feeling of the topic of the poem. To continue,
Sonnet 130 also has exaggerations to amplify the descriptions of Shakespeare s
mistress. For example, when Shakespeare writes, My mistress eyes are nothing
like the sun, he shows that his mistress eyes are dull in comparison to eyes of other
people. He makes the mistress eyes seem even uglier as he uses the sun to represent
other people s eyes. Similarly to the comparison, the exaggeration gives his mistress
a negative description. Yet, towards the end of the poem, he considers his love to be
rare, which displays his love. In a similar

Taking a Look at Garden Cities
Garden cities, whether the appropriate concept in sustainable urban planning?
Introduction
It is widely acknowledged that Ebenezer Howard s Garden City stimulated many
significant urban design achievements in worldwide. Whether the theory is still
suitable for sustainable urban planning in twenty one century has been widely
discussed. Some approvers argue that Howard provided the idea of self sufficiency
and limited growths still remain. However, the theory has been denounced because it
is too idealistic, difficult to implement. Therefore, this paper will first review the
original concept of Garden city, then examine legacy of the Garden Cities whether
they have proved to be successful, sustainable places. The paper is divided into
three parts. In the first section, the concept of Garden city will be first explained. In
the second part, the discussion of Garden city concept will be presented. Then, case
study on modern garden city will be described at last. The study shows, the ideas of
Garden City have been widely misinterpreted, leading potential risks on environment.
In addition, to some extent, the morphological model of Garden city is not
appropriate any more due to vehicles dependency and new communication modes
changed the planning concept.
The concept of Garden City
In Garden Cities of To morrow, Howard (1902) provided a detailed discussion for
new social and city reform. The overall goal for Howard is to combine the traditional

Court of Appeal
Under article 122A of the Federal constitution the President of the Courts of Appeals
is the head of the court. He is appointed by the Yang di Pertuan Agongafter

they are appointed by the Yang di Pertuan Agong after consulting the Chief Justice of

Short Story The Lesson
The short story The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara was written in 1972. The
Lesson was a first person point of view story, it was told by a young girl named,
Sylvia. This story tells about the shopping trip that the teacher of the class, Miss
Moore, took the children. The main ideas of this story are the economic life style,
social inequality, and lack of equal education for the African Americans. Miss
Moore tries to teach the kids there is a better life in a small trip to the toy store.
Sylvia gets angry with Miss Moore taking them to the toy store, not understanding
why she would take them. The way Toni Bambara wrote The Lesson in first person
narration gives the story realism. The story The Lesson is told by a little girl
named Sylvia, and it is about her class and Miss Moore going to a toy store. Before
they leave, Miss Moore tells them how money is not being fairly handed out in the
country and tells them where they are living is called the slums and that they are
poor. They all get in two separate cabs; Sylvia and a couple of friends are in one,
Miss Moore and the rest of the class are in the other cab. When they got out they
realized they are on Fifth Avenue, as Sylvia explains Then we check out that we
on Fifth Avenue and everybody dressed up in stockings. One lady in a fur coat, hot
as it is. White folks crazy (Bambara, 1972). Miss Moore directs them to big

Unfortunately, due to many factors over the past 20 years, Gold Butte has been on

The technological uses of smartphones, GPS, digital maps, the internet, and even
social websites have made it inherently impossible to keep public lands a secret.

The Interpersonal Relationship Between Sherlock Holmes
and...
This paper will explore the relationship between Sherlock Holmes and his
companion and friend Dr. John Watson. What is the relationship between Holmes
and Watson? Are they compatible or are their differences to great for them to
overcome. Looking at how they work together will also be a key factor in how
well the relationship works between the two of them. Do their own interests and
abilities get in the way? Does the time period in which they live factor into the
environment of their communication styles? There are several types of relational
messages found in the film. For instance if your compare them of who is more
empathic of the two them the answer would be Watson he is able to read and

Coulson, 2004). Sherlock is a part of the upper class while Watson is seen as a
middle class citizen while he is respected but he isn t on the same level as Holmes.
He is also respected for his work as a doctor and is known for being hard working.
Sherlock is portrayed as a troubled but brilliant detective who is often troubled and
socially awkward with people. He also deals with psychological noise with the fact
that he sees everything he call it both a gift and a curse at the same time. Holmes
and Watson both have different degrees of perceived self and presenting self. In
Watson case his is more concerned with his presenting self than Sherlock is (C. M.
Shaw R. Edwards, 1997). This can be seen in several cases in the movie when
Watson is going to meet his Fiancee s parents for teat he is both concerned and
worried with how they will perceive him. He is also concerned with how Mary ,
who is Watson Fiancee, will perceive Sherlock and his relationship with him. While
Sherlock isn t concerned with how the world around him perceives him nor does he
try to change or alter his appearance to suit others. In his case he has constructed
several different identities these can be seen in several scenes within the movies.
When Sherlock interacts with Watson he is friendly, open ,and engaged he has about
the same type of identity with Irene Adler though he is open and often flirtatious
though he is very careful about what information he shares

Solubility Enhancement of Fenofibrate by Solid Dispersion Technique
1.Introduction:
Oral route of drug administration is one of the preferable methods of drug delivery
due to its convenience, ease of administration and a more effective medication system
than other drug delivery systems in terms of patient s compliance. However, not all
drugs are of same solubility; some poorly soluble hydrophobic drug often generates
certain complexities in formulation development as well as other clinical research. As
a result, increasing the dose and higher administration frequency of these poorly
soluble drugs may not compensate for the therapeutic dose of the drug. Therefore, to
effectively utilize the therapeutic efficacy of the drug, enhancement of solubility and
dissolution profile can be a promising approach.
1.1 Techniques available to enhance solubility:
The solubility of a solute can be defined as the maximum amount of solute dissolving
in a specific quantity of solvent at a specified temperature. To improve the solubility
of poorly soluble drugs, numerous techniques are available which can be categorized
in three basic approaches:
1. Traditional Techniques
2. Newer and Novel Techniques
3. Solid Dispersion Technique
1.1.1. Traditional Techniques:
Traditional techniques include
Use of co solvents, Hydrotropy, Micronization, Change in dielectric constant of
solvent, Amorphous forms, Chemical modification of drug, Use of surfactants,
Inclusion complex or clathrates, Alteration of
Aristotle s Value Of Happiness
Human beings spend a lifetime finding the meaning of life and what makes us
happy. In Aristotle s Nicomachean s Ethics, Aristotle gives his own wisdom to his
son, Nicomachean on how to achieve the end goal of life which is happiness. He
explores this virtue of happiness through many other characteristics and virtues. One
of the characteristics, Aristotle explores for one to be happy is moderation.
Overindulgence in food, sex, and drinks can lead to dangers in one s life. To obtain
happinessand live a complete life, one must be moderate.
Aristotle asserts that moderation is a mean with respect to pleasures (Aristotle 62).
Aristotle takes into account both the body and soul when discussing pleasures. What
gives a person pleasures? In many cases, food, drinks, sex, listening to one s favorite
music, and even hanging out with friends can give someone pleasure.
Overindulgence of pleasures of the body (food, drink, and sex) is limited compared to
the soul (honor and learning) which is unlimited. Aristotle makes the argument that
when a person takes enjoyment in the smelling of apples, roses, or incense (Aristotle
64) they are not licentious since that smell could remind that person of a past
encounter that could signal desire (Aristotle 64).
Aristotle then compares human to animals with the direct reference to a lion; where
a lion does not receive desire because it smells the meat of a cow, but because the
lion knows that it will take pleasure in eating the cow s meat
A Perfect Day For Bananafish By J. D. Salinger
Have you ever wished you still had the innocence of a child? Or that you were not
ever exposed to the truth of society? In 1948, J.D. Salinger wrote and published his
story A Perfect Day for Bananafish . The short story comes from Salinger s Nine
Stories , which includes other pieces of his work such as The Laughing Man ,
Down at the Dinghy , and Teddy . He is known to write about the loss of innocence
in each of his stories. Salinger s story is an autobiography; he portrays his own life
events through Seymour Glass. Glass, being the main character, suffers from
psychological issues that lead him to suicide. Seymour s character mimics true events
in Salinger s life. The short storyconsolidates symbols such as the bananafish to

Salinger s A Perfect Day for Bananafish also incorporates symbols such as sunburn.
Sunburn is the equivalent to getting burned by material pursuits. It is said that
Muriel is most sunburned because she is the most vain and superficial ( A Perfect
Day for Bananafish ). The words imply that Muriel cares mostly about her
appearances. Although this may be true, it is also a connection to her archetype in
society. She is focused on her social status and looks than her husband. Whereas
Seymour tries to avoid the sun by wearing a bathrobe. Salinger writes, I mean all he
does is lie there. He won t take his bathrobe off (5). This suggests that Seymour tries
to protect himself from the impurities and artificialness of society. Salinger s
suggestion that Seymour subconsciously fears the corrupting influences of the world
as he fears the damaging rays of the
What Is The Competency Of Quantity Surveyors
This chapter are divided into several sub topics to give an understanding relating to
the topic of the study. The sub topics are focussing on the topic of competency of
Quantity Surveyors such as; the definition, area of competency, the importance and
the improvement. The related topics on Quantity Surveyors also are reviewed such
as the roles and the challenges faced by Quantity Surveyors nowadays. Through this
chapter, the reviews are elaborated by using reliable sources such as books, journals
and website. In overall, this chapter gives an overview about the competency in the
Quantity Surveyors and its scope within.

The Naked Citadel Analysis
With the help of authority, one would think change will speed up. However, this is
not the case. In Susan Faludi s The Naked Citadel, individuals who value of the
traditions and customs of the Citadel, a military school in the South, oppose to all
ideas of reform. This particular case focused on the acceptance of the institution s
first official femalecadet, Shannon Faulkner. Even with a court ruling in her favor,
Faulkner was met with a lot hate and threats because she threatened the balance of a
system. Individuals naturally tend to oppose and go against authorities or other
individuals that try to refine their traditions and cultural practices, therefore slowing
the constant progression of change. This slow radical shift is telling towards the
nature that change occurs Change is often met with opposition, especially when it
challenges one s culture and traditions. Look at all the criticism Shannon Faulkner
received when she sued the Citadel in order to be allowed to attend the all male
school. An alum claimed that Faulkner s legal efforts [is] an enemy invasion, placing
his young troops under attack (Faludi 78). This juxtaposition between the court case
and the idea of a troop being under attack shows how deeply this offended the
cultural beliefs of the alum. The court case, although is much less extreme than an
enemy invasion, evoked similar emotions of betrayal and stress in the alum. This
exemplifies the negative views the cadets have on women, viewing them as

the North Tower, it was confirmed that another plane, United Airlines Flight 175,
had been hijacked. Flight 175 left the Boston Logan Airport at 8:14 am, which was
about 16 minutes after it was scheduled to depart. At 8:42, the plane had gone off
its planned course and started to fly south. The plane flew southwest as it crossed
the Hudson River, it kept going to New Jersey until it was southwest from New

The Ceiling Art of Pozzo s Triumph of Sain Ignatius of...
#######poorly written######Pozzo s Triumph of Saint Ignatius of Loyola is on
the ceiling of the Church of Sant Ignazio in Rome, and was painted from 1685
1694. It is approximately 56 feet by 115 feet across the ceiling, and uses a
quadratura perspective to create an almost three dimensional effect. While the effect
makes the center look much higher, it is actually painted on an arched ceiling called
a barrel vault. This is a frescopainting, a type of coloring that made the painting
integral to the construction of the building or item. Inside the Church of Sant
Ignazio, there is a single white tile indicating where the viewer is intended to stand
to truly appreciate Pozzo s work. The scene illustrates many different saints and other
highly viewed people, all ascending towards the sky. There is also allegorical figures
of the 4 continents (America, Europe, Africa, and Asia) attached to the side of the
buildings windows at the base of the painting. The scene is filled with cherubs that
seem to be aiding the continents and saints. At the center of the painting, Saint
Ignatius is following Christ into heaven, with beams of light coming from his body
towards the four continents. The arches at the ends of the painting also add to the
illusion that the center of the painting is much higher than the rest of it. Saint Francis
Xavieris also shown in the work ascending towards the heavens.

Essay about Globe Theater
II. Structure of the Globe
The theater that Cuthbert Burbage built for the Chamberlain s Men had a total
capacity of between 2,000 and 3,000 spectators. Because there was no lighting, all
performances at the Globe were conducted, weather permitting, during the day
(probably most often in the mid afternoon span between 2 P.M. and 5 P.M.).
Because most of the Globe and all of its stage was open air, acoustics were poor and
the actors were compelled by circumstances to shout their lines, stress their
enunciation, and engage in exaggerated theatrical gestures. What would seem most
striking to a modern (Broadway) theatergoer about the productions staged at the
Globe is that they were completely devoid of background scenery. Although costumes

Although condemned by London authorities, along with cock fighting, bear baiting
and the bawdy attractions of taverns, the Southwark theater district operated outside
the legal reach of the City s officials. But while the Globe Theatre, and indeed, the
entire Elizabethan theater scene opened its doors to the low life of the pits, it also
accommodated an audience of higher status, well heeled, and better educated
individuals. As Harry Levin notes in his general introduction to the Riverside
Shakespeare (1974), the quot;Globe was truly a microcosm or little world of man
quot;. With its logo of Hercules holding up the earth (as a temporary replacement to
Atlas), the Globe Theatre constituted a quot;little world quot; in which the social elite
rubbed up against a cross section of common vulgarians, drunken idlers, and other
shady, street wise sorts. Yet, at the same time, the Globe was grand even in the eyes
of Elizabethan society s most powerful and prosperous leaders. As Levin also
observes in his prefatory essay, recently discovered documents indicate that
reconstructions of the Globe as quot;a quaint little Tudor cottage quot; have been
errant, since Burbage s house quot;may have had arches, pilaster, and other details of
Baroque architecture quot;. Contemporaneous accounts suggests that the Globe was
far more impressive than the thatched and half timbered models of it can capture,
having a more spectacular look to its structure than is commonly recognized, one

We live in a world where there is lots of judging and I believe people may not even
give some art pieces a chance. In the 1940s, Christian Petersen sculpted a plaster
figure of George Washington Carver. According to an article from Iowa State
Museums, This is one of the few free standing, full length sculptures that Petersen
ever made (George Washington Carver). He sculpted Carver as an old man
holding a single peanut in his hands. Petersen s intentions were to emphasize
Carver s vision for the future of agriculture (George Washington Carver). George
Washington Carver was the first African American to attend Iowa State, and I
personally didn t know this until I saw the sculpture located near Carver Hall. Art
has its meanings, even if sometimes you aren t looking for them. A quote from
George Washington Carver shows how much he cared for this blessed university, I
have no words to adequately express my impressions of dear old I.S.C. (Iowa State
College). All I am and all I hope to be, I owe in a very large measure to this blessed
institution (Mark Bagley). When this sculpture was first created Petersen wasn t
able to cast this sculpture in bronze because the cost was too much money, so he
painted the work of art to resemble bronze. The sculpture was originally put inside
Carver Hall on the first floor lobby (George Washington Carver). If this was put
outside it would have just got ruined by the weather, since the snow and cold could
Columbus Before The Council Of Samaca Analysis
The artwork my group of three chose to describe for this assignment is called
Columbus Before the Council of Salamaca. William H. Powell painted it in 1847.
The professor said to identify three stylistic characteristics, however I am going to
identify four of my favorite stylistic characteristics. Theatricality, immediacy, human
drama, and descriptive realism of particulars are the four stylistic characteristics from
different stylistic periods I am going to pinpoint and describe in the painting.
Theatricality is the use of light and shadowy dark to create a spotlight effect, also
known as tenebrism. The artist painted tiny segments of windows behind the figures

Caravaggio painted it in the year ca. 1597 1601 and it can be found on page 539 of

Council of Salamaca are both similar in many ways. They both have the four
stylistic characteristics of human drama, immediacy, theatricality, and discriptive
realism of particulars. In Columbus Before the Council of Salamaca Powell used
the same technique as Caravaggio to create windoms that allow the afternoon
sunlight to reflect on the figures at a particular angle. Powell made his windoms
visible to the viewer, however Caravaggio did not; he just gave the viewer a sense
of having one. They both used light and shadowy dark to create a spot light effect
on their figures, the term known as theatricality. Both of these paintings display a
great deal of human drama, the first painting show Columbus infront the concil men
trying to convince them of his finding, while the second is a babically scene of
Jesus Calling Mathew, who was then Levi the tax collector. Those surrounding Jesus
were surprise that he wanted a man that must of them thought was the biggest sinner
of all to follow him and so were those listening to Mr. Columbus. The immediacy

Analysis Of The Book Freakonomics By Steven D. Levitt
In the book Freakonomics, by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, is made up of
a series of scenarios in which an economist and a journalist apply basic principles of
economics to demonstrate that information can often expose interesting truths about
how the world operates. It uses the science of economics and specific data to
challenge our assumptions about everything. In the book Freakonomicsby Levitt
Dubner, compares and contrasts two groups of people or things by using their
informational data. This is called juxtaposition, which means the fact of two things
being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect. Levitt and Dubner look at
the world in a way that is both surprising, occasionally funny, and always
enlightening. They do so by drawing unexpected connections between two greatly
different but complementary aspects of sociology and economics, such as sumo
wrestlers to school teachers, KKK members to the real estate agents, and lastly, crack
gangs to McDonalds.
In chapter one of Freakonomics, the comparison between school teachers and sumo
wrestlers is a juxtaposition that was introduced in this book. The Chicago Public
School System is an example of how teachers were willing to cheat, thus manipulating
their students test results in order to obtain money compensations and prestige. The
possibility of promotion or higher pay, provoked teachers to inflate their student s test
scores. Whether through writing the answers to Standardized tests on the

Ship of Theseus In terms of the ship of Theseus, I think that yes it has become a
different ship than it was before because there is no constant in the ship.
Completely new wood is added that has nothing to do with the materials from the
old ship, (no DNA like in humans). It is purely an inanimate object with no soul or
anything other than its physical aspect which was promptly being replaced. Well I
hope i m not the same person I was a decade ago, because that means I am still acting
the same as a six year old. Physically my cells are dying and being replaced by new
ones but it holds the same DNA and you can see that on anyone s face. Naturally,
your face does not completely change so severely that you look like a whole
different person.
Characteristics Of Each Variation Of Griscelli Syndrome
Each variation of Griscelli syndrome is caused by a mutation in a different gene,
however, each variation presents the same hallmark phenotype; hypopigmentation.
The reason for this is because the three genes involved (MYO5A, RAB27A, and
MLPH) play similar roles in the transport of the pigment melanin. The MYO5A,
RAB27A, and MPLH genes all produce proteins that are found within cells known as
melanocytes ( Griscelli syndrome, 2016). Melanocytes are generally found in the
stratum basale of the skin s epidermis and the uvea of the eye. Through a process
termed melanogenesis, melanocytes produce the pigment melanin. Within the
melanocytes, the proteins produced by these three genes work cooperatively and
form a complex to transport structures called melanosomes. Melanosomes are
organelles found within the melanocytes that serve as the site of synthesis, storage,
and transport of melanin ( Griscelli syndrome, 2016). When a mutation impairs the
normal function of any of the three genes involved in the transport of the
melanosomes, the production of the proteins produced by these genes is also
interrupted. As a result, the normal transport of melanin within the melanocyte is
disrupted, as there is a lack of available proteins, thus, no proteincomplex for
melanosome transportation. Although the transport of melanin is disrupted,
melanogenesis still continues within the cell, producing more melanin. In normal
protein function within the melanocyte, the melanosomes are transported
Essay On High Stakes Testing
The Talk About The Bitter Test Standardized high stakes testing is necessary in today
s school systems and policies within education. The fate of annual standardized
testing is being considered as Congress debates the reauthorization of the Elementary
and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), also known as the No Child Left Behind Act
(Evans, 2015). Testing in its current form may seem detrimental to student learning,
but the only thing worse than standardized testing is not having testing at all (Evans,
2015). Standardized High stakes Testingis necessary because it serves as a platform
for guiding students and teachers, it s a great measurement tool on an individual s
performance, it helps prepare administration and it also provides a level playing field.
First, standardized high stakes testing serves as a platform for guiding students and
teachers. Students and teachers needs high stakes testing because the test allows them
to know what material is important to teach and learn. High Stakes testing helps

Standardized high stakes testing could be dangerous due to multiple corruptions
within the education administrations in the school systems (Nichols and Berliner,
2007, pg.6). First, standardized high stakes testing shows a correlation between
increased drop out rates (Amrein and Berliner, 2002, pg.2). Another warning about
the dangerous side effects of standardized high stakes testing surfaced when a plan a
pay teachers on the basis of their students scores was offered, making student test
scores very high stakes testing. (Roderick and Bryk, 2007, pg.11). Lastly,
standardized high stakes testing encourages teachers to watch the examiners foibles
and to note his idiosyncrasies to prepare for questions that were more likely to
appear on the testing which can lead to failure within the classroom (Wall, 2000,

Oppressed Group Stress Theory
Causes
The theory of oppressed group mentality has been cited for the reason behind lateral
violence (Becher, 2012). This theory states that nurses feel powerless and lack
control over the working environment therefore they take it out on someone they
believe to be beneath them. A novice nurse is the best target for this as they typically
have many questions about the practices and events that happen on the floor. It is
easy for a seasoned nurse to feel superior to that novice nurse. Oppressed group
mentality also states that the person dislikes themselves or their colleagues (Becher,
2012). This in turn makes a nurse want to feel better about themselves by putting
others down.
The hierarchy system is another the most common cause of nurse bullying and
interpersonal communication problems (Granstra, 2015). Typically, a problem
nurse has a higher position of power, whether it be charge nurse or supervisor. A
nurse with seniority is more likely to bully a new nurse due to not being given the
power they believe they deserve. This type of nurse is likely to watch a new nurse
fail instead of helping the nurse become better practiced and educated.
Effects
Nurses are known for eating their young. More than 50% of nurse s report being
involved in LV and up to 80% state they have LV in the workforce (Granstra, 2015).
LV in the workforce is going to influence the nurse taking the brunt of the criticism.

for trees to live there, but wild flowers, pikas, marmots, ptarmigans, and bighorn

extremes; the sand surface can reach 150В° degrees Fahrenheit on a summer
afternoon or drop to minus 20В° degrees Fahrenheit on a winter night. While the top

for our countries to be proud of but it does not refer to their fighting ability, as they

endurance during a time filled with death and despair. The fact that they were under
the poor leadership from London, and their unsuccessful strategies, cost most of them
their lives. But even under London s poor leadership, they still held strong in their
bravery through their hard times, it was acts like these that earned them their legend.
But it was this act that earned them the ANZAC legend. Their unwavering bravery
through this even earned some praise from war correspondents, such as Charles Bean.

It is a legend of free and independent spirits whose discipline derived less from
military formalities and customs than from the bonds of mateship and the demands
of necessity. The ANZACs were different from the rest of the soldiers, these
differences can be put into five sections. Some may say that these are their key
Hacking And Its Impact On Society Essay
Introduction
Hacking is the process of gaining unauthorized access to information through various
means like systems or computers. In the context of computer security, a hacker is that
person who looks for weakness in a system so that they can gain access to
unauthorized information. They are motivated by various reasons like protest, profits
or evaluating the entire system weaknesses.
What are the effects of hacking?
For some individuals, hacking can be a hobby they like to undertake in order to
analyze how many computers or the systems they can gain access to. While hacking
seems harmless, there are those who do this vice maliciously so that they can get
access to customer/ client information, the details of credit cards, their passwords,
email addresses and identity fraud (Riem, 2001). Having this unauthorized access to
these information warrants an arrest, and should the criminals be found, they are
liable for their crimes.
When firms like Home Depot and Target invests a lot of financial and non financial
resources to curb the menace, one is left to wonder why such vices continues to
affect them and their clients. Hacking of companies in the United States have
reached a sky high and notable names in the industry have been affected by the
vice. The firms like Home Depot, JPMorgan, Michael, Nieman Marcus and Target,
have had its share of this vice. The United States Postal Services have not been left
behind also, because it was also affected by the hackers ( Cybercrime a
Essay Penn State Scandal
The Jerry Sandusky case had a major impact on Penn State. It affected both
academics and athletics in a major way. In this essay I will discuss the situation that
occurred and the impact that the social media had on this once great school. Jerry
Sandusky is a retired American football coach. He was the assistant coach at
Pennsylvania State Universityunder the legendary Joe Paterno for 30 years. He was
the defensive coordinator for the football team. He is also the founder of The
Second Mile. The Second Mile is a non profit organization that serves
underprivileged youth. This is where Jerry Sandusky had met many of his victims.
On November 5th, 2011, Jerry Sandusky was arrested and charged with 52 counts of
sex crimes against young... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Graham Spanier at the time was the president of Penn State University. He was
forced to resign following the Penn State child sex abuse scandal. Tim Curley was
the athletic director for Penn State and Gary Schultz was the Vice President. After
it was revealed that they failed to report the incident to authorities, both of these
men were fired by the board. The FBI had stated that after conducting an
investigation that these senior officials had known about Sandusky s actions as
early as 1998 and had failed to disclose this information to authorities. On October
9, 2012, Jerry Sandusky was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years and a maximum
of 60 years in prison. Spanier, Curley, and Schultz have been charged with grand
jury perjury, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and child endangerment in
association with the scandal. Paterno and McQueary never had any charges
pressed on them because they did what they were obligated to do. McQueary had
reported the incident to his superior which is Joe Paterno. Joe Paterno also reported
the incident to his superior who is Curley and Schultz. This whole situation caused a
huge reaction nationwide. The media had criticized the University for being so
irresponsible. Many radio stations and newspapers harshly criticized the school for
this scandal. Many people had criticized McQueary for not protecting the child that
was being raped by Sandusky. The media criticized him for not protecting the child
and reporting it to
Uncanny Essay
For the Uncanny final project, Jessica and I proposed to document the uncanny
effects of social media technologies. Our first discussion about what we wanted to
portray led us to a difficult decision on what uncanny effects to focus on. I suggested
documenting the surveillance aspect of social media and the way our technologies
become uncanny when they begin to break down. Only when our technologies begin
to breakdown, do we realize our dependence on them; thus, making social media
devices uncanny. In the first shot, we decided to input colorful television bars that
indicate the television is not working in addition to a static sound effect. This was
meant to set the tone for the breakdown of technologies in the video. This shot then

In this scene we wanted to show how our phones can easily point us in the
direction of where we want to go, but to do this, our phones know where we are.
Combined with this scene, the next scene portrays me attempting to catch the bus
that my phone had suggested to take to get to my destination. In the next two
shots, we used an overlay digital clock text to indicate the passage of time thus
indicating to the viewer that our technologies often are not reliable. This
breakdown of the technology becomes uncanny because at this moment we realize
that the technologies that we use to make our lives easier actually show us how
dependent we are on them when they do not work properly. The final shot of this
video is a long shot in black and white meant to replicate a surveillance camera. We
increased the speed of this shot to indicate the uncanny effect when we realize the
uncanny effects of our technologies. Because the world is so fast paced, we are
prompted to use technologies to keep up. However, when these break down, we in
turn are slowed down. The inability to keep up to a fast paced society becomes
uncanny because the technologies we use to do so, break down are sometimes
actually limit
Point Guard Research Paper
In basketball, the point guard is the ball carrier. They need to avoid getting the ball
stolen from them by defenders, and run the plays that may or may not lead to a
score by the end of the possession. The three main fitness components that are
required for a basketball point guard would be agility, co ordination and aerobic
capacity, and the most dominate fitness system would be aerobic system.
The first fitness component required by a point guard is agility. The definition of
agility is the ability of the body to remain balanced whilst changing directions. As a
point guard, the opposing teams defends will be pressuring you, attempting to
make you throw a bad pass, or to create an opening to steal the ball from you. This
component is heavily linked with co ordination. If you as a ball carrier cannot
dribble out of situation in which you are trapped, or pass out, then you aren t even
a half decent point guard. As a point guard, you will also need to be able to move
off the ball. Without agility, you won t be able to cut off... Show more content on

If during the game, your steal the ball, your opponent steals the ball or a fast break
occurs, you will need the CP system to be ready to go. The lactic acid system is also
required, but it is the least needed for a basketball player. There are few
circumstances in which this fitness system is required. Following a fast break, the
opposing team returns the ball into play, and normal play style follows suit. Unless
it is late game, with a very close score, teams don t usually throw the ball in, sprint
down and score, only for the other team to do the exact same thing. Unless a fast
break occurs, but the other team stops the fast break and starts their own fast break,
and then that process continues a number of times, you re not going to be running at
high speed for long periods of
Elton John Research Paper
Billy Joel, and Elton John; two incredible singers that have different and diverse
backgrounds, however the question must be asked, who is better? Whose life has
gone smoother? Who produced the better music? Who made more? Many of these
questions can be simply answered by reading biographies and watching
documentaries. These don t however, answer exactly what their ideas or beliefs
are. Much of what they believe, or feel, is put into their songs, or even simply
thrown out during an interview. Before we delve into the opinionated topic of, who
is better? , we must first learn about who each of these talented singers are. We must
also learn what shaped them into the people they are today. Billy Joel was born in
the Bronx, New York,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elton John has sold double the number of albums then Billy Joel and has had a
more successful music career. Elton John overcame more hardships. Between his
father s anger at his career choice, and the backlash he experienced due to his
sexuality, he has dealt with more hardships than Billy. He also had released more
albums of higher quality and more well known singles. He also joined with the
rapper from Detroit, Eminem in his song Stan. Finally, Elton John recorded a
tribute to Princess Diana, and his Westminster Abbey performance of the song
(Candle in the Wind) during Diana s funeral service in September of 1997. (Simon
Firth) and played alongside Queen and Axl Rose in a tribute to Freddie Mercury
after his passing on November 24th, 1991. The generous amount of money he
donated to charity also defines how nice of a person he is. Once he received a
school schedule for his kids, Elton and his husband David Furnish decided together
that Elton couldn t be a father figure if he was constantly on tour. Elton decided,
due to that fact and his age of 71, that he would end touring, but would still produce
music. The amount he cares for his family shows how good of a guy he really is,
he has released very popular and well known music, and is a classic rock icon still
listened to today. For his farewell tour, tickets range from $200 upwards to $1628 at
the capital one theater in Washington D.C. Elton John has racked up

  • 1. No Essay College Scholarship Writing an essay on the topic of the "No Essay College Scholarship" may seem paradoxical at first glance. The irony lies in the fact that while the scholarship itself boasts of requiring no essay for application, crafting an essay about this very subject poses its own set of challenges. The task becomes intricate because the absence of a traditional essay prompt leaves the writer in a somewhat ambiguous position. Without a specific topic or question to address, one must navigate the nuances of discussing a scholarship that defies conventional expectations. It requires a delicate balance of conveying the scholarship's unique approach while also delving into the broader implications of a scholarship that omits the traditional essay requirement. Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding repetition and clichГ©s. The temptation to emphasize the irony of writing an essay about a "No Essay" scholarship may lead to trite observations. Striking a balance between originality and relevance becomes crucial in order to capture the reader's attention and maintain their interest throughout the essay. Addressing the significance of a scholarship that values alternative forms of expression over the traditional written essay introduces another layer of complexity. One must explore the implications of such an approach on the broader landscape of college admissions and scholarship criteria. In conclusion, writing an essay on the "No Essay College Scholarship" is a unique challenge that requires navigating the intricacies of discussing a scholarship that intentionally deviates from the norm. • 5. Mid-Term Break Essay The poem Mid Term Break by Seamus Heaney is a first person ballad concerning the death of a boy s 4 year old brother while he was away at boarding school, and the individual reactions of each of his family members towards the tragedy. Poet Seamus Heaney did well at taking the extremely heavy subject of a child s death, and producing a substantially lighter poem that still resonated the right emotions for the theme of the poem. In my opinion, Mid Term Break can be broken up into three different sections. The first of these sections includes Stanza 1, where the boy is still at school. The first section of the poem describes the main character waiting in the sick bay for someone to drive him home, which tells the reader that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sentence as my mother held my hand in hers and coughed out angry tearless sighs also gives the reader an insight into just how shattered the family is after the death, as his mother is described as being too upset to cry, and that the main character feels that he now has to step up, being the oldest child, and comfort his family as an adult. The final part of the poem is the boy goes to the room where his brothers body is being is laid out. This is the event that the entire poem has been moving towards, essentially the climax of the whole poem. The final stanzas of the poem emphasise how tragic the event is, by leading the reader to imagine the younger brother as a helpless, pure, and peaceful child. Through the line He lay in the four foot box as in his cot, the younger brothers youth and purity is better exemplified. The imagery used in the third section of Mid Term Break is the last goodbye when the main character goes to visit his younger brother, as he hasn t seen him in six weeks. This final goodbye is the peak of emotion in the poem, and takes the awkward subject of peace and gives it a form of peace and serenity. The final goodbye also refers back to the deeper meaning of becoming an adult, as the main character is not only saying goodbye to his baby brother, but also his childhood. Seamus Heaney s choice of words in this poem is what

Steinbeck in Flight creates the setting for the Torress home, describing how The little shack, the rattling, rotting barn were gray bitten with sea salt, beaten by the damp wind until they had taken on the color of the granite hills (p.1). He gives the reader a live image of the weather, the families home, and the nature setting of the story. The Departed is an American remake of the Chinese film Infernal Affairs. Both movies reveal the secret life of moles for a gang and the police force. Even though the Departed stays pretty close to the original screenplay, there are some differences that both add to each film and takes away from the plot. In all, besides their differences, the Departedand Infernal Affairsboth create a thrilling story of the mafia. The first major difference that caught my eye is the similar love interest in the Departed. In this rendition, Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) both share an interest with the police psychiatrist. This adds a unique way to connect the characters. Throughout the film, Billy and Colin never met or interacted with each other. However, with both of them visiting the psychiatrist, it provides them with a connection. This creates a sense of knowledge to the audience. It gives a sense of a what if scenario. When I learned of this same love interest, I kept thinking what if they both decided to meet her at the same time, what would happen . This gave me a suspense not like other murder thrillers, but more of a what if they finally meet moment. Another difference that is noteworthy is when the police chief is thrown off the building by the gang members. The Departed created a more realistic scene to me rather than

For example, the increasing unemployment, racism, inequality and gun control. In recent years, shooting accidents happen frequently in the United States, which causes great concern about gun ownership and use in the whole society. Generally, there are two opposite attitudes towards gun control in the United States. On the one hand, some people firmly urge the government to restrict gun ownership and gun rights in order to avoid gun violence and perfect gun control laws. On the other hand, plenty of people still want to protect their rights to own guns. The United States should put more restriction on gun ownership and use, because safety problems, the high rate of gun related crime and the loophole of gun control laws. In other words, people are in a more dangerous situation with guns. Trauma found that guns in the home were more likely to be used for gun

Sonnet 18 expresses superiority over another subject, and Sonnet 130 expresses uniqueness. Although the attitudes of Sonnet 18 and Sonnet 130 are different, Shakespeare uses comparisons, exaggerations, and vivid words to portray the message of love in both sonnets. Sonnet 130 is about Shakespeare s mistress. In this poem, he uses comparisons to describe his mistress as ugly. One comparison that Shakespeare makes is, If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head. In this comparison, Shakespeare relates hairs to wires to represent the coarseness of the hair of his mistress. When read by itself, the comparison does not display love. Yet later on in the poem, Shakespeare explains that even though her mistress may be uglier when compared to other women, but she is rare and unique. The fact that Shakespeare considers his love as rare shows that he loves her. Although the comparison itself in Sonnet 130 is negative while the comparison in Sonnet 18 is positive, both poems compare one subject to another to enhance the feeling of the topic of the poem. To continue, Sonnet 130 also has exaggerations to amplify the descriptions of Shakespeare s mistress. For example, when Shakespeare writes, My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun, he shows that his mistress eyes are dull in comparison to eyes of other people. He makes the mistress eyes seem even uglier as he uses the sun to represent other people s eyes. Similarly to the comparison, the exaggeration gives his mistress a negative description. Yet, towards the end of the poem, he considers his love to be rare, which displays his love. In a similar

Solubility Enhancement of Fenofibrate by Solid Dispersion Technique 1.Introduction: Oral route of drug administration is one of the preferable methods of drug delivery due to its convenience, ease of administration and a more effective medication system than other drug delivery systems in terms of patient s compliance. However, not all drugs are of same solubility; some poorly soluble hydrophobic drug often generates certain complexities in formulation development as well as other clinical research. As a result, increasing the dose and higher administration frequency of these poorly soluble drugs may not compensate for the therapeutic dose of the drug. • 24. Aristotle s Value Of Happiness Human beings spend a lifetime finding the meaning of life and what makes us happy. In Aristotle s Nicomachean s Ethics, Aristotle gives his own wisdom to his son, Nicomachean on how to achieve the end goal of life which is happiness. He explores this virtue of happiness through many other characteristics and virtues. One of the characteristics, Aristotle explores for one to be happy is moderation. Overindulgence in food, sex, and drinks can lead to dangers in one s life. To obtain happinessand live a complete life, one must be moderate. Aristotle asserts that moderation is a mean with respect to pleasures (Aristotle 62). Aristotle takes into account both the body and soul when discussing pleasures. What gives a person pleasures? In many cases, food, drinks, sex, listening to one s favorite music, and even hanging out with friends can give someone pleasure. Overindulgence of pleasures of the body (food, drink, and sex) is limited compared to the soul (honor and learning) which is unlimited. Aristotle makes the argument that when a person takes enjoyment in the smelling of apples, roses, or incense (Aristotle 64) they are not licentious since that smell could remind that person of a past encounter that could signal desire (Aristotle 64). Aristotle then compares human to animals with the direct reference to a lion; where a lion does not receive desire because it smells the meat of a cow, but because the lion knows that it will take pleasure in eating the cow s meat

In Susan Faludi s The Naked Citadel, individuals who value of the traditions and customs of the Citadel, a military school in the South, oppose to all ideas of reform. This particular case focused on the acceptance of the institution s first official femalecadet, Shannon Faulkner. It is approximately 56 feet by 115 feet across the ceiling, and uses a quadratura perspective to create an almost three dimensional effect. While the effect makes the center look much higher, it is actually painted on an arched ceiling called a barrel vault. This is a frescopainting, a type of coloring that made the painting integral to the construction of the building or item. Inside the Church of Sant Ignazio, there is a single white tile indicating where the viewer is intended to stand to truly appreciate Pozzo s work. The scene illustrates many different saints and other highly viewed people, all ascending towards the sky. There is also allegorical figures of the 4 continents (America, Europe, Africa, and Asia) attached to the side of the buildings windows at the base of the painting. The scene is filled with cherubs that seem to be aiding the continents and saints. At the center of the painting, Saint Ignatius is following Christ into heaven, with beams of light coming from his body towards the four continents. The arches at the ends of the painting also add to the illusion that the center of the painting is much higher than the rest of it. Saint Francis Xavieris also shown in the work ascending towards the heavens. Context In the 1600s, Rome was becoming one of the cultural hotspots in Italy. During the

Because there was no lighting, all performances at the Globe were conducted, weather permitting, during the day (probably most often in the mid afternoon span between 2 P.M. and 5 P.M.). Because most of the Globe and all of its stage was open air, acoustics were poor and the actors were compelled by circumstances to shout their lines, stress their enunciation, and engage in exaggerated theatrical gestures. What would seem most striking to a modern (Broadway) theatergoer about the productions staged at the Globe is that they were completely devoid of background scenery. Although costumes ... But while the Globe Theatre, and indeed, the entire Elizabethan theater scene opened its doors to the low life of the pits, it also accommodated an audience of higher status, well heeled, and better educated individuals. As Harry Levin notes in his general introduction to the Riverside Shakespeare (1974), the quot;Globe was truly a microcosm or little world of man quot;. With its logo of Hercules holding up the earth (as a temporary replacement to Atlas), the Globe Theatre constituted a quot;little world quot; in which the social elite rubbed up against a cross section of common vulgarians, drunken idlers, and other shady, street wise sorts. Yet, at the same time, the Globe was grand even in the eyes of Elizabethan society s most powerful and prosperous leaders. As Levin also observes in his prefatory essay, recently discovered documents indicate that reconstructions of the Globe as quot;a quaint little Tudor cottage quot; have been errant, since Burbage s house quot;may have had arches, pilaster, and other details of Baroque architecture quot;. Contemporaneous accounts suggests that the Globe was far more impressive than the thatched and half timbered models of it can capture, having a more spectacular look to its structure than is commonly recognized, one

In Columbus Before the Council of Salamaca Powell used the same technique as Caravaggio to create windoms that allow the afternoon sunlight to reflect on the figures at a particular angle. Powell made his windoms visible to the viewer, however Caravaggio did not; he just gave the viewer a sense of having one. They both used light and shadowy dark to create a spot light effect on their figures, the term known as theatricality. Both of these paintings display a great deal of human drama, the first painting show Columbus infront the concil men trying to convince them of his finding, while the second is a babically scene of Jesus Calling Mathew, who was then Levi the tax collector. Dubner, is made up of a series of scenarios in which an economist and a journalist apply basic principles of economics to demonstrate that information can often expose interesting truths about how the world operates. It uses the science of economics and specific data to challenge our assumptions about everything. In the book Freakonomicsby Levitt Dubner, compares and contrasts two groups of people or things by using their informational data. This is called juxtaposition, which means the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect. Levitt and Dubner look at the world in a way that is both surprising, occasionally funny, and always enlightening. They do so by drawing unexpected connections between two greatly different but complementary aspects of sociology and economics, such as sumo wrestlers to school teachers, KKK members to the real estate agents, and lastly, crack gangs to McDonalds. In chapter one of Freakonomics, the comparison between school teachers and sumo wrestlers is a juxtaposition that was introduced in this book. The Chicago Public School System is an example of how teachers were willing to cheat, thus manipulating their students test results in order to obtain money compensations and prestige. The possibility of promotion or higher pay, provoked teachers to inflate their student s test scores. Whether through writing the answers to Standardized tests on the

  • 37. Characteristics Of Each Variation Of Griscelli Syndrome Each variation of Griscelli syndrome is caused by a mutation in a different gene, however, each variation presents the same hallmark phenotype; hypopigmentation. The reason for this is because the three genes involved (MYO5A, RAB27A, and MLPH) play similar roles in the transport of the pigment melanin. The MYO5A, RAB27A, and MPLH genes all produce proteins that are found within cells known as melanocytes ( Griscelli syndrome, 2016). Melanocytes are generally found in the stratum basale of the skin s epidermis and the uvea of the eye. Through a process termed melanogenesis, melanocytes produce the pigment melanin. Within the melanocytes, the proteins produced by these three genes work cooperatively and form a complex to transport structures called melanosomes. Melanosomes are organelles found within the melanocytes that serve as the site of synthesis, storage, and transport of melanin ( Griscelli syndrome, 2016). When a mutation impairs the normal function of any of the three genes involved in the transport of the melanosomes, the production of the proteins produced by these genes is also interrupted. As a result, the normal transport of melanin within the melanocyte is disrupted, as there is a lack of available proteins, thus, no proteincomplex for melanosome transportation. Although the transport of melanin is disrupted, melanogenesis still continues within the cell, producing more melanin. In normal protein function within the melanocyte, the melanosomes are transported

This theory states that nurses feel powerless and lack control over the working environment therefore they take it out on someone they believe to be beneath them. A novice nurse is the best target for this as they typically have many questions about the practices and events that happen on the floor. It is easy for a seasoned nurse to feel superior to that novice nurse. Oppressed group mentality also states that the person dislikes themselves or their colleagues (Becher, 2012). This in turn makes a nurse want to feel better about themselves by putting others down. The hierarchy system is another the most common cause of nurse bullying and interpersonal communication problems (Granstra, 2015). Typically, a problem nurse has a higher position of power, whether it be charge nurse or supervisor. A nurse with seniority is more likely to bully a new nurse due to not being given the power they believe they deserve. This type of nurse is likely to watch a new nurse fail instead of helping the nurse become better practiced and educated. Effects Nurses are known for eating their young.
