NetApp Cluster-Failover Giveback allows a failed NetApp filer head to recover by having the operational head give back its resources. When a head fails, the other head takes over its disks and network connections in a takeover state. To recover the failed head, the operational head must be instructed to perform a giveback command, which will sync up the peers and allow the failed head to resume normal operations. An HA pair consists of two matching storage controllers connected to each other's disk shelves to provide fault tolerance for nondisruptive maintenance.
