Job Skills Essay
Laura G. Thompson Angie Miller English IV November 6th, 2014 Important Job Skills There are
several different skills that are important to have to have no matter what the job you are in search of
or already have. Employers have told us for quite sometime now what they expect out usНѕ and I'm
going to talk about the most basic ones everyone should have, including: confidence in themselves
and their work, excellent communication skills, flexibility, adaptability and being reliable. Everyone
is drawn to confidenceНѕ it's a proven fact. Although, you also want to make sure you're still able to
accept positive feedback and apply the lessons learned. Employers want you to be confident in your
work and the company or business which you...show more content...
Flexibility leads to being a reliable and responsibility. You want to be a able to rely and trust other
employees to do what they need to do, so you can do what you need to do. In order to be reliable
you need accomplish tasks in a timely manner and stick with dues datesНѕ finish projects ahead of
time for bonus points, which will also take some stress off you. You should show up when you're
scheduled and even a few minutes early. Make sure to take responsibilityНѕ complete any work on
time and make it to work in a timely manner at all costs. If you do ever need time off make sure
you schedule it way in advance and call whenever an emergency pops up. Lastly, take responsibility
when you're to blameНѕ you'll always be better off in doing so. Finally, adaptability. You need to be
able to adapt and work around any given problemНѕ which means you need to be able to be
resourceful and have excellent problem solving skills. To be adaptable would also include efficiently
completing your work under stress, new environments, new coВworkers and with limited resources.
These are some of the top skills I have found to be most important to employers that everyone
should have. Now you can check what you need to work onНѕ unless you already have all these
essential skills, in that case you are the perfect

Our Needs And Wants Essay
Our Needs and Wants: effects on our inner peace
Life, in general, has not changed over the years; it is only the surroundings and circumstances that
have changed. The way we choose to react to those changes, determines the direct effect on the
quality of our life. We need to focus on the need of distinguishing, between the ever–increasing
responsibilities on our shoulders and other insignificant matters that consume our precious time.
Our needs and wants are two distinct entities. Weneed to separate our needs from our wants in order
to achieve satisfaction. It is definitely not a simple matter. The dilemma is that we allwant
everything, but we don't need everything we want. When we can quiet the unnecessary, we can give
an opportunity to...show more content...
We need to find an opportunity to coach somewhere, in fact anywhere. Find a young person, a
young team, jump in and impart training, like we would if we were coaching at the highest level.
Such initiative and experience, will give us sufficient boost to reach our goals, and actually become
a sport coach one day.
We should not be afraid to take small steps. There's something powerful about momentum...no matter
how little. Many times, the impossible is simply the untried. When we are immobilised with fear,
when each task ahead appears to be a huge one, when we are unable to lift ourselves to face it – at
those moments we can break the dilemma by using two simple words: "Do something!" By taking
some small steps, the required momentum will begin to come into our life.
Most people don't succeed because they are too afraid to even try. As incredible as it sounds, they
decide in advance that they are going to fail. Many times, our final goal seems so distant &
unachievable that we don't even make an effort. But, once we have made our decision and actually
start, it's like we are halfway

Asking For Help Essay
Prior to completing Skip Downing's "On Course Self Assessment," I was starting to realize one of
my most sabotaging behaviors. I find it incredibly difficult to say a three–word phrase. When it
comes to assisting others, I have no problem lending a helping hand, but I cannot tell anyone that "I
need help." In writing this paper I hope to recognize the roots of my problem and adopt a plan to
aid me in overcoming this negative behavior. After I took the self–assessment and received a low
score in the area of interdependence, I began considering options for overcoming my hesitation so
that I may become a successful student. The first strategy is to learn that I cannot do everything by
myself. Typically, I never ask for...show more content...
We cannot know everything, and we can all benefit from mutual helping relationships. I may need
someone to explain something discussed in Psychology class today and that person may need the
favor returned for English. Working together and helping others is important in almost every area
of life. I do not need to feel ashamed for reaching out first. As a result of doing the assessment, I
realized that I seldom request and often reject offers of assistance. A successful student would
employ interdependence by actively seeking out mutually supportive relationships to help achieve
their goals and dreams, while doing the same for others in return. I chose this topic because I do not
want to be a struggling student! Interdependence is a key factor in being successful in college. In
order to obtain a degree a college student must do well in all areas of their studies. To accomplish
that, he or she must comprehend the subject matter taught and apply what they learn. If a student
does not understand something and refuses to ask for help when it is readily available, they are
only hurting themselves. Three little words can make all the difference. By asking someone who is
more knowledgeable than they may be in a certain area, they could find the missing pieces that lead
to total understanding. This will enable them to perform better on my assignments and to keep
moving forward towards that college degree. College can be an

Essay about Training and Development
Training and development has become increasingly essential to the success of modern organisations,
yet some still look at training as a problem or as something that is not taken seriously. Training and
development is one key approach used by organisations to improve and maintain the capabilities of
its workforce. However, many experts distinguish between training and development, being that
training tends to be more closely focused and adapted towards short–term performance concerns,
while development tends to be adapted more towards expanding an individual's skills for future
responsibilities (Snell and Bohlander 2007). The main reason that organisations train their
employees is to bring their knowledge, skills and abilities up to the...show more content...
Furthermore, spoiled work, damages, and accidents to equipment and machinery can be kept to a
minimum by well trained employees, continued training helps employees develop their ability to
learn by adapting themselves to new work methods, learning to use new kinds of equipment, and
adjusting to major changes in work relationships and job content, also, through training, new
employees learn to measure up to standards for performance, thereby satisfying their human need for
personal growth and increasing their value to the organisation (Pigors and Myers 1977).
Similarly, Longenecker and Fink (2005) assert that the benefits derived from training are manifold,
and these include; exposure to new and better practices and ideas for application, leads to reflection,
self–appraisal and retrospection, motivates employees to improve performance, encourages career
development planning, helps identify specific performance problems and challenges an employee to
think differently, to name a few. Other benefits are a more flexible workforce, improved
performance of existing employees, decreased supervision, higher skill levels and reduced learning
time, thus reducing learning costs, improved organisation morale, and to ensure for succession
(Molander 1989).

Perseverance Essay
What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a
measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success.
As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The
goal and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to
forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed.
We are high school students and that means that the sense of urgency to strive for and to achieve
personal success is now. With this urgency comes the expectation of having to persevere. This year
has not been as easy one for us as a school body. We have been...show more content...
There is no shame in falling; the shame is in accepting the the fall as defeat. Nelson Mandella once
said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is
the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted
out.
Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it
to school. But you find it within yourself to do because the hope of a better tomorrow compels
you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake
you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the
bus, you are one step closer to realizing your dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what
perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all
things are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the
steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were divorced, but it seems like both parents
divorced her. Her mother had custody, but she was seldom around. My friend raised herself. She
gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "putting yourself through school", but she was in middle
school. However, she had a dream of something better and it was evident that it required
self–motivation and determination.
We have all been called upon

Grit Essay Examples
Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength
of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with
grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to
overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost
any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face.
However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to
obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective.
By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content...
I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year
I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times,
lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I
set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when
I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team
won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The
transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of
becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I
wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people
that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being
physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone
has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to
an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use
the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe
that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent
are just the starting point.

Describe Yourself As A Writer
When I was young, I always knew that college is important to the major that you choose. When I
see my aunt, I ask many questions about college and how it is like. I thought it would be
challenging and stressful. Then it was stressful because I want to improve my writing. When I see
myself as a writer, I think about the process, then I consider the improvements I need to make, and
lastly the strengths I have.
First, I think about the writing process. When the teacher or professor give me an essay, I start right
away. I start right away because I don't want my work to be late and I have other assignment to do
for other classes. Once I read the prompt, I start my outline to know what to write in my essay. I just
think about what I know and don't know, then put it onto paper. For the outline, I will do sentences
or sometimes words only. It depends on the topic or essay I write. I find the outline is a helpful way
to get started.
After the outline, I start researching the topic. I use the internet for the research. I use it because it
is helpful. It is helpful because I take examples of how to start. I use google and look at images of
essays. It provides inspiration for the essay....show more content...
I always on task when it come to course work and due dates. , I am creative and very helpful with
other. I do not being behind with my school work because it will effect my goal that i am trying to
improve. A quote that I heard from Peter Elbow is "Don't stop for anything" Peter is try to
explain is just work your way through and don't go back. I think what he is try to tell me that
everyone have a way to get successful in college and school. I feel As a result, I believe that anyone
can get to there goals, so when you're outside of school you will feel awesome and and not be

  • 2. Our Needs And Wants Essay Our Needs and Wants: effects on our inner peace Life, in general, has not changed over the years; it is only the surroundings and circumstances that have changed. The way we choose to react to those changes, determines the direct effect on the quality of our life. We need to focus on the need of distinguishing, between the ever–increasing responsibilities on our shoulders and other insignificant matters that consume our precious time. Our needs and wants are two distinct entities. Weneed to separate our needs from our wants in order to achieve satisfaction. It is definitely not a simple matter. The dilemma is that we allwant everything, but we don't need everything we want. When we can quiet the unnecessary, we can give an opportunity to...show more content... We need to find an opportunity to coach somewhere, in fact anywhere. Find a young person, a young team, jump in and impart training, like we would if we were coaching at the highest level. Such initiative and experience, will give us sufficient boost to reach our goals, and actually become a sport coach one day. We should not be afraid to take small steps. There's something powerful about momentum...no matter how little. Many times, the impossible is simply the untried. When we are immobilised with fear, when each task ahead appears to be a huge one, when we are unable to lift ourselves to face it – at those moments we can break the dilemma by using two simple words: "Do something!" By taking some small steps, the required momentum will begin to come into our life. Most people don't succeed because they are too afraid to even try. As incredible as it sounds, they decide in advance that they are going to fail. Many times, our final goal seems so distant & unachievable that we don't even make an effort. But, once we have made our decision and actually start, it's like we are halfway Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Asking For Help Essay Prior to completing Skip Downing's "On Course Self Assessment," I was starting to realize one of my most sabotaging behaviors. I find it incredibly difficult to say a three–word phrase. When it comes to assisting others, I have no problem lending a helping hand, but I cannot tell anyone that "I need help." In writing this paper I hope to recognize the roots of my problem and adopt a plan to aid me in overcoming this negative behavior. After I took the self–assessment and received a low score in the area of interdependence, I began considering options for overcoming my hesitation so that I may become a successful student. The first strategy is to learn that I cannot do everything by myself. Typically, I never ask for...show more content... We cannot know everything, and we can all benefit from mutual helping relationships. I may need someone to explain something discussed in Psychology class today and that person may need the favor returned for English. Working together and helping others is important in almost every area of life. I do not need to feel ashamed for reaching out first. As a result of doing the assessment, I realized that I seldom request and often reject offers of assistance. A successful student would employ interdependence by actively seeking out mutually supportive relationships to help achieve their goals and dreams, while doing the same for others in return. I chose this topic because I do not want to be a struggling student! Interdependence is a key factor in being successful in college. In order to obtain a degree a college student must do well in all areas of their studies. To accomplish that, he or she must comprehend the subject matter taught and apply what they learn. If a student does not understand something and refuses to ask for help when it is readily available, they are only hurting themselves. Three little words can make all the difference. By asking someone who is more knowledgeable than they may be in a certain area, they could find the missing pieces that lead to total understanding. This will enable them to perform better on my assignments and to keep moving forward towards that college degree. College can be an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay about Training and Development Training and development has become increasingly essential to the success of modern organisations, yet some still look at training as a problem or as something that is not taken seriously. Training and development is one key approach used by organisations to improve and maintain the capabilities of its workforce. However, many experts distinguish between training and development, being that training tends to be more closely focused and adapted towards short–term performance concerns, while development tends to be adapted more towards expanding an individual's skills for future responsibilities (Snell and Bohlander 2007). The main reason that organisations train their employees is to bring their knowledge, skills and abilities up to the...show more content... Furthermore, spoiled work, damages, and accidents to equipment and machinery can be kept to a minimum by well trained employees, continued training helps employees develop their ability to learn by adapting themselves to new work methods, learning to use new kinds of equipment, and adjusting to major changes in work relationships and job content, also, through training, new employees learn to measure up to standards for performance, thereby satisfying their human need for personal growth and increasing their value to the organisation (Pigors and Myers 1977). Similarly, Longenecker and Fink (2005) assert that the benefits derived from training are manifold, and these include; exposure to new and better practices and ideas for application, leads to reflection, self–appraisal and retrospection, motivates employees to improve performance, encourages career development planning, helps identify specific performance problems and challenges an employee to think differently, to name a few. Other benefits are a more flexible workforce, improved performance of existing employees, decreased supervision, higher skill levels and reduced learning time, thus reducing learning costs, improved organisation morale, and to ensure for succession (Molander 1989). • 5. Perseverance Essay What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed. We are high school students and that means that the sense of urgency to strive for and to achieve personal success is now. With this urgency comes the expectation of having to persevere. This year has not been as easy one for us as a school body. We have been...show more content... There is no shame in falling; the shame is in accepting the the fall as defeat. Nelson Mandella once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted out. Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it to school. But you find it within yourself to do because the hope of a better tomorrow compels you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the bus, you are one step closer to realizing your dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all things are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were divorced, but it seems like both parents divorced her. Her mother had custody, but she was seldom around. My friend raised herself. She gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "putting yourself through school", but she was in middle school. However, she had a dream of something better and it was evident that it required self–motivation and determination. We have all been called upon Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Grit Essay Examples Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content... I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point. • 7. Describe Yourself As A Writer When I was young, I always knew that college is important to the major that you choose. When I see my aunt, I ask many questions about college and how it is like. I thought it would be challenging and stressful. Then it was stressful because I want to improve my writing. When I see myself as a writer, I think about the process, then I consider the improvements I need to make, and lastly the strengths I have. First, I think about the writing process. When the teacher or professor give me an essay, I start right away. I start right away because I don't want my work to be late and I have other assignment to do for other classes. Once I read the prompt, I start my outline to know what to write in my essay. I just think about what I know and don't know, then put it onto paper. For the outline, I will do sentences or sometimes words only. It depends on the topic or essay I write. I find the outline is a helpful way to get started. After the outline, I start researching the topic. I use the internet for the research. I use it because it is helpful. It is helpful because I take examples of how to start.
