Joint Open Access Statement of 26 Universities of Applied Sciences in FinlandAnna-Kaisa Sjölund
The open access movement started in Finland in the early 2000s within research and library communities. In 2008, Universities of Applied Sciences created an open access repository called Theseus to provide open access to theses and research publications. This led the 26 universities of applied sciences in Finland to develop an open access statement requiring teachers and researchers to archive copies of their published works in open access repositories. The statement aims to improve access, storage, and preservation of scholarly works in a user-friendly manner.
Wikimedia and GLAMs in Swedish classroomsSara Mörtsell
This document discusses how openness in mainstream classrooms in Sweden can be advanced through partnerships between Wikipedia and cultural heritage institutions (GLAMs). It describes several existing Swedish projects that involve students contributing to and learning from open online platforms like Wikimini (a Swedish Wikipedia for students), Platser (a crowdsourced landscape history site), and Stockholm Digital Archives. These projects engage students in representing and learning about local culture and history. The document argues that such partnerships can give students ownership over local history, engage them in both physical and digital spaces, and introduce them to open online communities and resources.

Open Rijksmuseum Data : Challenges and OpportunitiesSaskia Scheltjens
The INSIGHT project launch event at MIM Brussels summarized the Rijksmuseum's journey with data and collections information management over time. It described the growth of the museum's physical and digital collections, the increasing professionalization of cataloging and metadata practices, and more recent initiatives to share open data through APIs and third party platforms. The talk highlighted both challenges around overcoming data silos and opportunities to provide expanded access and new research services through an interoperable, networked approach to the museum's collection data.
The document discusses the new exhibition concept for the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum in Cologne, Germany. The museum will have a thematic arrangement focusing on universal aspects of life from a comparative cultural approach. It will use scenography and digital media like fixed monitors, mobile monitors, electronic books, and electronic tables. These technologies will support contextualization, provide information, offer different perspectives, and connect objects to the present. The exhibition will cover themes like clothing and adornment, crossing borders, death and the afterlife, and addressing prejudices.
The Rijksmuseum Research Library faces challenges in adapting to new research methods and technologies while maintaining its historical role supporting the museum's collections. As the library professionalized in the 20th century, it focused on cataloging and automating its collections. It now aims to overcome organizational "silos," provide interdisciplinary access, and develop new digital services through an open, networked approach as part of the museum's Research Services department.
This document summarizes the transformation of the TU Delft University library from a traditional library space to an innovative learning center over a 5 year period. Surveys and interviews with students and faculty found that user needs and desires had changed, with preferences for more flexible communal and technology-enabled spaces. The library underwent renovations to create more open, flexible spaces for individual and group study, events, and knowledge sharing, with services like cafes and technology help. These changes led to increased visitor numbers and usage of the new learning center spaces on campus.

Suzanne Lagerweij - Influence Without Power - Why Empathy is Your Best Friend...Suzanne Lagerweij
This is a workshop about communication and collaboration. We will experience how we can analyze the reasons for resistance to change (exercise 1) and practice how to improve our conversation style and be more in control and effective in the way we communicate (exercise 2).
This session will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
Abstract:
Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.
Come learn more on how to become a real influencer!

Carrer goals.pptx and their importance in real lifeartemacademy2
Career goals serve as a roadmap for individuals, guiding them toward achieving long-term professional aspirations and personal fulfillment. Establishing clear career goals enables professionals to focus their efforts on developing specific skills, gaining relevant experience, and making strategic decisions that align with their desired career trajectory. By setting both short-term and long-term objectives, individuals can systematically track their progress, make necessary adjustments, and stay motivated. Short-term goals often include acquiring new qualifications, mastering particular competencies, or securing a specific role, while long-term goals might encompass reaching executive positions, becoming industry experts, or launching entrepreneurial ventures.
Moreover, having well-defined career goals fosters a sense of purpose and direction, enhancing job satisfaction and overall productivity. It encourages continuous learning and adaptation, as professionals remain attuned to industry trends and evolving job market demands. Career goals also facilitate better time management and resource allocation, as individuals prioritize tasks and opportunities that advance their professional growth. In addition, articulating career goals can aid in networking and mentorship, as it allows individuals to communicate their aspirations clearly to potential mentors, colleagues, and employers, thereby opening doors to valuable guidance and support. Ultimately, career goals are integral to personal and professional development, driving individuals toward sustained success and fulfillment in their chosen fields.
