This novel is a great novel, I don t think I would change anything but if I had to pick one thing
then it would be the title. I felt the title that the author had picked doesn t go with the story. In the
novel, Roland had an interest in finding out more about Christabel, but he wasn t possessed by
her. I felt there wasn t anything possession type in this novel. when you first read the title you

human s life. If Kino had never found the pearl, his life and his family s life would not have been
changed. They would have lived in peace forever. But the pearl was found and the evil and greed
changed everything in Kino s life. The happiness was gone. The Pearl tells us about the
consequences that may happen if one allows greed to have a destructive influence on their life.
What I liked about the story is that the development of the characters have been shown throughout

The Green Children of Woolpit is a twelfth century mystery that has been around for centuries.
Many people have speculated and formed theories on where these children had come from. No
theory has been proven true, but the theories range from malnutrition to something such as
extraterrestrial visitors. This strange phenomenon can be explained. These children that visited
England, are aliens from a different world. The evidence that the children give the people from
England describes a land that is not on planet Earth. The Green Children of Woolpit is a twelfth
century mystery that started in Suffolk, England. During this time, this area was the most
agriculturally productive in all of rural England. The village of Suffolk had belonged to the
powerful Abbey of Bury St. Edmunds. In Suffolk, two green skinned children were found at the
mouth of an old wolf pit where the final wolf had been rumored to perish. The two children were
found by reapers working at a nearby farm. They spoke in an unfamiliar language and wore
strange clothing that was unknown to the people of England. The children were soon accepted
into the household Sir Richard de Caine at Wilks. After a while both children became ill and
things looked bleak for the both of the strange children. The boy had eventually passed, while the

The Characteristics Of Odysseus In Homer s Odyssey
The main character in the Odyssey, Odysseus, displays many valuable traits throughout the
novel, which helped support the main idea that cunning, endurance, and loyalty are more
valuable than brute strength Odysseus was incredibly clever and cunning. He solved many
problems this way which was different than other heroes who relied on brute strength. Odysseus
recalled the horror in a telling of his encounter with Polyphemus his story is a gruesome story of
cannibalism ...but starting up laid hands on my companions...Tearing them limb from limb, he
made supper, and ate as does a mountain lion... (pg. 85) and he has to come up with a plan to
stop Polyphemus. Odysseus was able to come up with a plan to escape from Polyphemus and

My Country Assessment Of Syria
My country assessment of Syria contains much of the recent history, but I believe to truly
understand what is happening today, we must understand how historically Syrian politics,
geopolitical regional experiences and culture has come into play in the world understanding of a
proud, but fractured Country. In this assessment I will tackle modern history, political and insurgent
threats to the region and to the United States foreign missions as well as short and long term
analysis on the direction of the country and U.S. policies going forward.
Syria is one of the oldest civilizations in history, with art, written language, and religious activities
dating back to the time of Mesopotamia. It has been the dagger s edge in the Levant, splitting
between western culture, and eastern religious ideology for the last two millennia. Significant
religious acts in religious lore such as Paul the apostle converting to Christianity on the road to
Damascus (Acts 9:1 43) also transpired in Syria. The country has been conquered numerous times;
the mix of art, religions, governments and culture have changed and left scars on the country. In
this manner Syria is as diverse of a place as many European cities at their cultural height.
Modern Syria presents many challenges. President Basher Al Assad has ruled since 2000, and ruled
with an iron fist. He has consistently put down uprisings along the northern border with Turkey and

Cathedral Theme
I read the short story Cathedral by Raymond Carver. This story describes the first time meeting
between a blind man and a sighted man. Robert, who is blind, is visiting for a few days with his
long time friend who is the wife and her husband is only referred to as Bub. The wife and Bub are
both sighted.
When the wife ended her employment with Robert over ten years ago, Robert asked if he could
touch her face before she left. Robert and the wife stayed in touch even after she left her old job by
communicating with audio tape over the past ten years. The wife has just picked up Robert at the

A Cathedral is a place for people to go and worship, to connect with God. By drawing the Cathedral
the narrator is in some ways also making a connection. For the first time he appears to be able to
see.
There is also a sense of irony at the end of the story. The narrator s eyes are closed and he is being
led by a blind man, yet he is able to see. Carver never explains what it is the narrator sees, but
there is the sense that he has found a connection and is no longer detached or isolated.
Raymond Carvers choice of theme of blindness makes his goal of offering a deeper
understanding of the nature of human a success. He is able to tell readers that there is physical
blindness and psychological blindness. Those with the physical disability could see well than
those who are not. This motif is accentuated by these examples from the story the first is the
demeanor of Bub which shows signs of disapproval of the imminent visit of his wife s blind
friend, the second is his contemplating the basis of his wife s friendship with Robert, and the third
is his verbal and sensory interaction with the blind man when he draws a cathedral on a paper
