Charles Vyse Research Paper
The Nineteen Forties Following WWII, and the cessation of hostilities, Charles Vyse and Harry Parr
returned to their respective studios in Cheyne Row Chelsea. For Vyse, life regained a semblance of
normality, albeit without the support of Nell Vyse, his ex wife and partner. However, he set to work
again making wheel thrown vessels and modelling figures, of which, he sent a number to the Royal
Academy, often as not, competing with Parr for supremacy of work accepted for exhibition. As Vyse
had earlier proposed, he modelled only terracotta figures for exhibition, and in 1945, excluding a
number of stoneware figures, he exhibited three works at the Royal Academy s Summer Exhibition
modelled in this medium. A large female figure, titled Nude (RA1243), ... Show more content on

Sometime in April 1946, the new owner of all five studios served notice of eviction on the three
remaining tenants. Some eighteen months previously the new owner, Mrs Mary Joyce Solhau Hay,
inherited the 14a Cheyne Row, Chelsea from the estate of the late Lady Tovey. The owner seeking to
convert the premises into a home for herself and her four children, requested Charles Pibworth, Harry
Parr, and Charles Vyse, to leave their Cheyne Row studios. The Daily Mail newspaper, May 1946,
reporting an interview Vyse at his studio, published a brief article the following

Evaluation Of A Project And The Developer
During the early steps of the projects until reaching commercial and financial close, the parties
initiating the project and the developer will have to make critical decision to structure the project. An
important part of the negotiation will focus on the risk allocation to the various stakeholders of the
project in order to satisfy the prim objectives and drivers of the parties involved and distribute the risk
to the party most able to manage and bear them.
The risk allocation will require some transfer of risk ownership between the parties developing the
project and third parties or other stakeholders in order to assign the risk identified to the party in the
best position to deal with it. This should take in consideration the nature of ... Show more content on

In this regard, the recent researches and academic works tend to suggest some adjustment to the risk
allocation between the main parties public and private in order to achieve value for money in the
provision of a service.
Risk allocation in connection with the individual perspectives, goals and requirements of the various
project stakeholders
In the structuring phase of a project, the developers, whether directly or with the assistance of a
mandated advisor will develop a network of contract supporting the project initiative. If the project is
based on non recourse finance or limited recourse, the developer will aim to set a Special Propose
Company initially bearing all the risks involved in the project. Then, a set of contract to provide the
main components of the project purpose delivering a service required by the public sector. For
merchant project (service not required or tendered for the public service), most of the consideration
below will apply but the public entity will be substituted by the market needs. In this situation, the
private sector will directly contract with the SPV which is a private entity for the delivery of a service.
The developer and later the SPV will aim to allocate all the risk identified to third party involved in
the project through contract terms agreed for the scope of supply of the various contract. The main
transfer of risks are achieved via the key contract intending to secure the

The A Independent School District
Prosper, Texas is one of the last additions to Collin County and has a current population of over
12,000 residents (Minor, 2010). Prosper s establishment came about from the merging of two farming
settlements in 1902, however the city s name was not incorporated until 1914 ( History , n.d.; Minor,
2010). According to the city s webpage, Prosper is committed to being family oriented and providing
every resident an opportunity to experience quality living while maintaining small town ideals ( About
Prosper , n.d.). The Prosper Independent School District s (PISD) vision to reach everyone, everyday (
REACH Philosophy / REACH , 2002) mirrors the town s belief in including everyone. Despite the
exceptional growth within the city over the past few years, the school district is determined to meet
the needs of its student population. One way in which PISD plans to ensure all of its students receive
an equitable education, is through its adoption and implementation of the Response to Intervention
(RtI) program.
The Response to Intervention program came into existence as a result of various federal legislative
mandates. The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) emphasized the responsibility of schools to
ensure academic progress from all students, including English language learners, students of lower
socioeconomic backgrounds, and those in special education (NCLB, 2001;) Then, In 2004, the

The American Legal System In The Film Erin Brockovich
In the fictional media today there are many inaccurate portrayals of the legal system to add excitement
by distorting reality. Through these portrayals, people begin to think this is the way the legal system
really is when realistically it is not as glamorized and exciting as the media makes it seem. I watched
Erin Brockovich to see how the film legitimizes the law, how it stresses flaws in our legal system and
how it accurately depicts the American legal system. This film is a dramatized version of a true story,
but the story stays mostly accurate to the legitimization of the law. Erin Brockovich was working at a
law firm as an assistant. Erin ended up discovering that the water in Hinkley, California was
contaminated with hexavalent chromium which is poisonous and was causing all the residents to get
very sick. Throughout the film Erin and the lawyer, Ed Masry, end up getting over 600 plaintiffs who
suffered significant damages to testify against the company PG E. What started out as a small case
turned into a multi million dollar lawsuit all because of Erin. The film Erin Brockovich legitimates ...

To begin, the film depicts how much tedious and precise legal work is involved and how much time it
takes up to get everything in order to file a lawsuit. It shows how Erin had to work long hours, work
from home and take time away from her children. The film also accurately documents how slowly a
case moves in our legal system. It depicts this by showing how much time and work is needed to
collect evidence and get the statements of all the plaintiffs. It accurately depicts how much time it
takes to do all of that by showing Erin visiting all the plaintiffs multiple times. In the film, Erin also
goes to many different places to collect physical evidence. Another negative aspect of the American
legal system portrayed in the film is the overall corruption between large companies and the

Sheet Music s Passion For Singing
The pile of things carried shows her passion and personality. Sheet music tells of her passion for
singing. Singing allows her to express through an artistic form. A person can release pent up feelings
without explicitly putting them into words. Music can convey a creativity unique to anything else. Her
earbuds give her the option to isolate her from reality. Music can take you to a new world away from
the mundane in the bag. The sheet music is neatly organized and showcased. The papers are in a see

bag. The disarray of papers is of a lower priority to the cherished, practiced sheet music. There is an

Character Analysis Of Goodbye Despair
Finally, in regard to creating balance within the narrative, it is important to discuss how Goodbye
Despair s two sub protagonists are also the game s two potential love interests for the player s
character. The idea of contradiction based balance between the two characters is present here as well.
Chiaki is initially presented as the standard heroine based loved interest for Hajime to pursue. Not
only is she nice to Hajime, inviting him to hang out and work together, but also she is physically
attractive, being presented with a cute face and curvy figure under her school uniform. Hajime also
expresses attraction to Chiaki when she, along with the other girls, puts on a swimsuit to go down to
the beach. However, Chiaki herself removes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, as Chiaki moves out of the traditional heroine, love interest role within the narrative,
Nagito begins to fill it. Mostly due to the popularity of Nagito s character, the developers have placed
many of the traditional female fan service gags on to him. In addition to having Nagito appear on
many of the promotional material in his normal island outfit, Danganronpa also had him appear in
other traditionally female outfits, such as a kimono and a servant outfit. Furthermore, he receives these
gags inside the story as well; for example the character gets an over exaggerated shower scene in
Danganronpa: The End of Hope s Peak Academy Despair Side. Nagito also has received his own mini
album, several song based vocal tracks preformed by the character s voice actor. These mini albums
are traditionally given to female characters, due to the fact that many female anime characters are
presented with the ability to sing well because it makes them more attractive. The songs included on
the album include two love songs, one directed to an ambiguous male individual and the second
directed to Hajime specifically. Moreover, the way that Nagito talks about Hajime imparts a more
romantic aspect to the two boys relationship than the relationship between Hajime and Chiaki. In
Nagito s fifth free time event, when trying to confess his feelings to Hajime, Nagito uses the verb
aishiteru to mean love. However, aishiteru is an extreme form of romantic

Holden Caulfield Rejection
As most teenagers and young adults would agree, growing up is a difficult task to which no alternative
is present. Every person must grow up and lose much of the innocence they had as youth, no matter
how badly one may want to hold on to it. Holden Caulfield, an expert catcher in the rye , seems to
think he can thwart time and the natural progression to adulthood by keeping as boyish and innocent
as he possibly can. He tries to find acceptance among his peers and his teachers, only to be met with
rejection after rejection of his refusal to adulthood. He is, every so often, met with acceptance of his
insistence on staying in high school. In the novel, The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield is met
with rejections from his peers, such as Robert Ackley, and his teachers, such as Mr. Spencer; despite
this, he succeeds in receiving acceptance from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his wife give Holden a place to sleep and some coffee. Mr. Antolini talks over Holden s life and

outright humiliating fashion like Mr. Spencer. Holden feels, because of this, that Mr. Antolini accepts
him where he is, even if he does not approve of all that Holden is doing. Holden is content to have
finally found some place to stay where he can be safe and welcomed. A short while later, Holden finds
that his approval from Mr. Antolini reaches a little farther than Holden had thought when he wakes up
to find Mr. Antolini petting his hair. Finally, Holden rejects someone else and leaves Mr. Antolini,
unnerved by the encounter. He had finally found another who accepted and cared for him without
dwelling on his actions, but he did not find comfort in this for very

A Doll House 3
A main character, Torvald, in the play A Doll House, by Henrik Ibsen could be viewed as a morally
ambiguous character. He displays the character traits of a morally ambiguous person. Torvald s
personal consumption of appearances shows how he treats his wife and home and personal pride.
Torvald s wife Nora is the center of several of the traits that classify him as a morally ambiguous
character. Nora is more like a possession to Torvald than a soul mate or wife. She is like a doll to him,
something that he can control and shape into what he wants. Nora is treated like a child and as if she
can not function a second without him to be there to tell her what to do. Her dependency on him is
extremely important to him because that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

based upon what he felt was right in society. HE cared so greatly what

determine what a real life was because he only lived his life upon other expectations. The play s
character Torvald shows moral ambiguity clearly through the life he lives and the true home life
that resulted from his

Memory And The Psychodynamic Theory
The two concepts that I resonated with are Memory and the Psychodynamic theory. Starting with the
Psychodynamic theory is an approach to psychology that studies the psychological forces underlying
human behavior, feelings, and emotions, and how they may relate to early childhood experience. This
theory is most closely associated with the work of Sigmund Freud, and with psychoanalysis, a type of
psychotherapy that attempts to explore the patient s unconscious thoughts and emotions so that the
person is better able to understand him or herself. The second one is Memory; understanding how
memory works will help you improves your memory. Which is an essential key to attaining
knowledge. Memory is one of the important cognitive processes. Memory involves remembering and
forgetting. I chose the two concepts because throughout the class they stood out to the most.
Understanding the conscious, subconscious mind and also memory. I m interested in understanding
the human behavior.
The psychodynamic theory, I didn t really think much about it. But when I got to psychology learning
about this theory stuck out to me, it made so much sense. I ve always thought that what happens in out
childhood molds the person you are today, so when learning about the psychodynamic theory
everything that I thought came to light. The emphasis on unconscious motives and desires, as well as
the importance of childhood experiences in shaping personality. But memory was the most interesting
to me, finding out

Phos Research Paper
Partially hydrogenated oils have been used by manufacturers for years. The FDA has decided to
remove PHOs from all manufacturers due to extensive research into the effects of PHOs. Partially
hydrogenated oils have been determined not to be GRAS, generally recognized as safe (Center).
Although the FDA had decided that PHOs are unhealthy many sources say that fats are needed for
body functions. In high amounts fats are going to be bad for the body but, with any type of food that is
the case and it is the job of the consumer to watch their eating habits. PHOs have a purpose of why
manufacturers use them and even though they are said to lower cholesterol but, that s not the whole
truth. The FDA s decision that Partially Hydrogenated Oils are unsafe is another unnecessary health
food regulation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fatty acids in the oil then absorb some of the hydrogen and becomes more dense. If the manufacturer
were to fully hydrogenate the oil, it would become a solid, basically a fat. When the hydrogenation
process is stopped half way, this is when it becomes partially hydrogenated oil. PHO s are a butter
substitute and have the same consistency(Armstrong). What complete hydrogenation of fats does is
turn healthful unsaturated fats into fully saturated fats. This is the equivalent to regular, saturated,
animal fat and since this animal fat and complete hydrogenation is essentially the same this doesn t
work. The solution was partially hydrogenated oils so that some of the unsaturated molecules would
remain and the product would remain healthy ( The

Communication And Complex Communication
Complex Communication
Where humans are today is an absolute miracle significantly due to the process of collective learning.
Collective learning is how individuals learned to do many fundamental tasks and how various cultures
in the world developed. Early evidence of collective learning was found by archaeologists when they
discovered human skulls that dated back about 200,000 years ago. These skulls had a more flexible
jaw allowing those early humans to speak vocally. (Early Evidence of Collective Learning, Big
History Project). Languages allowed humans to share information with each other and pass down
information across countless generations. Humans have cultivated a complex and well defined
language that has allowed for collective learning in which we can progress much further as a society
than any other animal group has.
All living beings have communication but what s special about human communication is that there are
elaborate languages. These elaborate languages have a lot of flexibility to the point where new words
are made and added constantly (Text 8). However, in other organisms that doesn t happen because
they keep on communicating in a stagnant language. For example, bacteria can communicate by
producing distinctive organic molecules that have specialized receptors. These receptors allow
bacteria to detect the presence of other bacteria (Text 1). This is important to bacteria because it lets
them detect other bacteria and usually bacteria want to be in a

My First Trip To The Library
Where are we going? I asked my older sister Kenese as we walked down Chicago s busy streets. To

was the first time in my five years of living, that I been to a place where so many books where held.
That same day, was the day when I received my first library card and checked out my first picture
book about a spooky witch riding around on her broom. Now every time when my elementary school
took a trip to our local library, I was astatic to pull out my new library card. After my first trip to the
library I began to notice how many books were laying around our house. Majority of them belonged to
my two older sisters. I can remember all the times I came into our apartment from a long day of
playing to find my sisters laying on the couch reading books. When I was younger, that didn t mean
much to me but it was when I wanted to be just like my sisters when I took up reading. I began
reading all the books out of our personal library, and checking out books with my library card. I took
reading up because of my surroundings and I thought it was a norm for everybody in your household
to read and occasionally watch Law Order SUV. By my sister introducing me at a young age to
reading for leisure, I took pride in it. Reading was a value that was instilled in me and I never

The Simpson s is about the satiric adventures of a working class family in the city of Springfield. The
Simpsons is an example of an American sitcom. A sitcom is situation comedy, which is when the same
setting and same characters appear in every episode. Sitcoms surfaced in the 1950 s in America
showing the ideal family. Slowly sitcoms started to show the reality of life and dealt with social issues
such as divorce and unemployment. Sitcoms have become very popular because people could relate to
the program, since they show problems that happen in every day life. In this essay, I am going to

This is makes the audience skeptical and appears unrealistic. She goes against her stereotype because
she is going against the norms of an eight year old girl. Later on in this episode, Bart gets a tattoo.
This goes against the norms of a young boy, because you rarely see someone getting a tattoo that

irresponsible for allowing a child to get a tattoo. Homer is shown as an unsupportive father because he
falls asleep when his children are performing on stage. He should be cheering and watching, but he

The Relationship Between Coriolanus and Volumnia
The speech patterns of Coriolanus reveal the title character s psychological turmoil. Churning with
self doubt about his determination, his relationship with those around him, and his relationship with
his mother, Coriolanus is a man at the mercy of his environment. The environment that shapes
Coriolanus is the instruction he receives from his mother Volumnia.1 In his relationship with his

Coriolanus derives from his own wounds and wounded body is a product of his mother s pride in
having a wounded son. Volumnia describes with pride Coriolanus s bloody brow, Though you were
born in Rome! His bloody brow/ with his mailed hand then wiping (1.3.31 32). The pride that
Volumnia procures from her son s victories and injuries winds up reflecting itself on Coriolanus who
describes these victories and wounds with equal pride. By the end of the first act, Volumnia s
descriptions of mothering demonstrate the warlike spirit she has channeled into her raising of
Coriolanus. The imagery she uses in Act 1 Scene 3 also separates her from the other women in the
play. Volumnia speaks of blood, swords, and death, while women like Virgilia speak of sewing and
butterflies.
Volumnia s speech patterns put her in the commanding position in her relationship with Coriolanus. In

Causes of the Great Fire of London Essay
James Jonathan Gray
Hist 3372
Fall 2009
Dr.Willis
According to Adrian Tinniswood, seventeenth century Londoners vacillated between seeing the Great
Fire of London as an act of terrorism and an act of god. What were the major components of these
explanations and why were contemporaries so eager to search for a reason for the calamity other than
simple accident.
Was the Great fire of London an act of terrorism or an act of God? There are numerous explanations
that attribute to the belief in either. London in the seventeenth century was no paradise and was
actually a quite unpleasant place to live. Coupled with thousands dying from an outbreak of plague,
with the dead sometimes populating the streets of London, it is quite ... Show more content on

This contributed to many a belief that the fire that paved the way for a rebuilding of a new, more
grandiose city was a gift from God. To paint a picture before the fire of London, Tinniswood called
London smoke polluted with deformed buildings, so much so that the magistrate would not warrant
any extreme haste when fire, which was common among a town full of old wooden buildings,
happened there (11). Furthermore the industries in London polluted the air (12). It is easy to picture
how lowly and poverty stricken the pre fire London really was. In addition to all of this, many people
believed apocalypse and judgment were to befall the great city anyways; that it was only a matter of
time until God was to act there. When the British attacked and sunk the Dutch fleet, there was the
presence in the date of three sixes, the year 1666, and this caused great fear, causing many to consider
this a prophecy, and Londoners of the day took prophecies very seriously. This is pointed out in the
book by astrologer John Booker entitled: New Almanack and Prognostication, which Tinniswood
references in his text (20 21). This grand fanaticism in belief of God s judgment upon London among
the people can be further displayed in some writings of one of the Duke s helpers under Lord
Berkeley. He wrote: Nothing can be like unto the distraction we were in, but the Day of Judgment.
Another fellow wrote different words at the site of winds from all directions spreading

Sacrifice Of Animals In War Essay
Introduction You might know that humans are dying in wars, but show some love to the animals that
sacrifice their lives as well! Imagine that you were taken out of college or taken out of the place where
you are now and be put into the battlefield without any sign up sheets. The anxiety YOU have from
the bullets zooming across your face, hoping that YOU would be alive and in one piece. Doesn t that
sound scary to you? This is what military animals have to live by. They are thrown into training and
when they are old enough to be in battle, they don t have the voice to say a simple No. if they had the
choice to be in war. Indeed, military animals have saved countless amount of lives and have truly
change the outcome of war, but is this all worth the sacrifice? The sacrifice of bringing your best
friend that grew a bond with you and have the chance to die in front of you? Many people will believe
that animals should be used in the modern warfare because history shows that animals like the
messenger pigeon has delivered many messages that soldiers has wrote about the locations of enemy
lines. While other people believe that animals shouldn t be in war because it will traumatize the
animal. In this paper I will present alternative position on the topic of animals that are used in the
modern warfare, considering a variety of perspectives, and concluding with a position on animals that
are used in battlefields that seems most justifiable. Pros of Using Animals in War Yes!

A Rose For Emily Grierson Symbolism
The symbolism of Emily Grierson in A Rose for Emily William Faulkner s short story, A Rose for
Emily, is a textbook example of the Southern Gothic genre. Set in the deep south in the late 1800s, it is
an examination of the Old South s unwillingness to change after losing the Civil War. The main
character Emily Grierson is faced with several hardships that are shown throughout the story. In this
paper, I will argue that Emily symbolizes the South s inability to progress after losing the civil war.
Grierson, a relic of the white aristocracy, resists every step toward progress the town makes. A shut in,
Emily is the epitome of the Southern oddity, as she performs peculiar rituals behind closed doors. The
town is left to wonder about her; As Faulkner states, upon her death, people went to see the inside of
her house, which no one save a manservant had seen in the last ten years (Faulkner 391). In fact,
Emily s self imposed isolation lasts most of her adult life. Every time she refuses to live in concert
with society s new rules, Emily is symbolizing the South s struggle to progress after losing the war. ...

Her version of reality is the only one she will accept. When faced with her father s death, for example,
Faulkner states that Emily met them dressed as usual and with no trace of grief on her face (Faulkner

traditional rituals of death lead her to live with her father s dead body for three days. Furthermore,

Who Is Alberto Burr Rosso Plastica
Art can be found in everything, in some form of artistic capability, from the hand of man and down to

characteristics. Alberto Burri s Rosso Plastica (Red Plastic), dated 1961, contains all 5 at these
qualities; design, creativity, uniqueness, reaction, and inherent meaning. With all of this, he makes a

Borderline Personality Disorder ( Adhd )
Introduction Borderline Personality Disorder was first listed in the DSM in 1980. It is classified as a
cluster B personality disorder. Before then it was unsure if it was a disorder on its own, if it only
coexisted with other disorders, or only mocked other disorders. Most people suffering from BPD have
problems regulating emotions and thoughts, have impulsive and reckless behavior, and have unstable
relations with others. High rates of comorbidity occur with this disorder including; depression, anxiety
disorders, substance abuse, and eating disorders. BPD affects about four percent of the community, but
can be as high as twenty percent in many clinical psychiatric populations. It can be difficult to treat
because it responds poorly to most conventional methods of treatment and because of how little we
still know about it. There have been many great discoveries about BPD in only a few decades. There
are still many questions to be answered about this disorder, but it has gone from a label attached to
those who did not quite fit into other categories to a completely separate and somewhat understood
mental illness. History First recorded accounts of symptoms associated with BPD can be found in
medical literature from almost three thousand years ago. Adolph Stern would be the first to describe
the symptoms, possible causes, and what he thought to be the best treatment. Stern referred to patients
with these symptoms as the border line group. In the 1940 s Robert Knight

U.s. Foreign Policy During World War II Essay
The turn of the twentieth century brought about changes in all aspects of American domestic society
and especially in the course of U.S. Foreign Policy. The factors leading up to American involvement
in the Spanish American War of 1898 and in World War II, respectively, mark drastic shifts in
domestic attitudes towards America s role in the world. Ostensibly, the decisions to intervene in Cuba
in 1898 and in Europe in 1917 were both products of aggressions against Americans at sea,
endangered economic interests, and the fear of European encroachment upon the Western Hemisphere.
Domestically, however, the hyper masculinity and expansionist fervor precipitating the U.S. decision
to intervene in Cuba contrasts sharply with the reform driven decision making process which preceded
U.S. entry into WWI. Both cases of military intervention constitute acts of imperialism, albeit in
different senses, as the underlying goal of the United States 1898 intervention in Cuba was physical
expansion, while America s longstanding quest for an Ideological Empire was born with entrance into
WWI.
Indeed, contemporaries frequently pointed to violations of U.S. neutrality at sea as the most shocking
hostility of belligerents. The sensationalist newspapers of the 1890s quickly published dramatized
accounts of Spain s alleged involvement in the sinking of the USS Maine, which resulted in the deaths
of 261 American crewmembers. The battleship had been sent to Havana Harbor in order to monitor

Alan Sears Theory And Common Sense Summary
Although I was aware that sociology like the other social sciences is full of theories, I was very
intrigued by the social order model and conflict model that Alan Sears presented. In the chapter,
Theory and Common Sense, from the text, A Good Book, In Theory, Alan Sears begins by asserting
that our thoughts and beliefs that we consider to be common sense are actually assumptions that we
have unknowingly learn from institutions. Sears goes on to explain that in order to unlearn the ideas
that we have adopted unconsciously, we must think critically about our common sense and look at
things we already know as if for the first time (29). One example that Sears uses is the fact that we see
the sun and know that the Earth is actually moving. We believe this to be the truth even though we can
not fully wrap our heads arounds the phenomenon. This emphasizes our natural tendency as members
of society to absorb information from those that we perceive to be more knowledgeable than us
because we re taught that people in higher positions than us(i.e. teachers, government ... Show more

The first model is the social order model which says that the dominating values of society are what
keeps things in order. Moreover, if we all share the same beliefs and values, the world supposedly runs
smoother and more fairly. This theory relies on negotiation between different groups in order to create
change. The other model that Sears describes is the conflict model, which is the opposite of the social
order model. The conflict model states that our society is organized around fundamental inequalities
rather than our shared values. According to the conflict theory only the conflict that emerges from
social inequality can lead to

Team Dynamics and Conflict Resolution Strategies
Team Dynamics and Conflict Resolution Strategies
University of Phoenix Success in many areas of our lives, be it family, education, business, or leisure,
is dependent on successful teamwork. Teams are a number of persons associated together in work or
activity...a group on one side (Merriam Webster, 2008). There are many types of teams, work teams,
school teams, sports teams, families etc. The fact remains that teams, because they are made up of
imperfect human beings, are inherently dysfunctional ( Lencioni, 2002). This inherent dysfunction is
more commonly referred to as conflict. Working teams/groups need to be able to resolve conflict
quickly and effectively in order to keep the team working well. Therefore, understanding and ... Show

Arbitration is mainly for a more serious problem within a team. Most teams never make it to the point
of arbitration. The process is held within a room that is similar to a court room. This is a process in
which the disputes wave the right of a jury.
With the amount of conflict in this world, it is good to know different ways of solving the conflict
quickly and professionally. Negotiation should most always be used at the first step in conflict
resolution. It is the easiest strategy to implement, and has the benefit of keeping the conflict within the
team. When a decision cannot be made, there are times that an impartial third party needs to be
involved. Mediation is the next step from negotiation and helps bring the opposing sides closer to, if
not make, a final decision by the use of a fresh pair of eyes . When the conflict almost gets to the
worst place possible then arbitration is the strategy to use. Arbitration brings in the big guns with the
use of the arbitrator. This decision is the end all, legally binding, conclusion of the situation. In the
end, teamwork is the best way to avoid conflicts. When a group of people successfully work together
toward a common goal, while taking in everyone s strengths and weaknesses, they become a team. It
is teamwork that remains the ultimate

Students who come from black working class families are more likely to be career blind and
underachievers.
This was view expressed by Professor Emeritus Ramesh Deosaran at the Ministry of Education s
Administrator s Conference at the Miracle Ministries Pentecostal High School yesterday.
Deosaran, who was the feature speaker, told those present that the society is at a point where it needs
to be rebuilt from scratch and teachers are the ones who can accomplish this feat.
Many young boys and girls drift into gangs, drugs and other illicit behaviours mainly because they
were mentally career blind, not possessing a career or occupational goal, Deosaran said during his

several factors that affect the education system for example: social class, economic differences, ethnic

factors, converge to create a disturbing degree of inequality in the education system.

Hegel s Views On Religion
Religion for Hegel was something that was discussed throughout some of his different writings, and
was something that he had strong views on. It can be argued that his view on religion in the state for
the citizens creates the most liberal society when comparing with that of Locke or Hobbes for those
who desire to practice their faith. He gives the choice to be involved in religion, or not, and shows
how religion can benefit the functioning of civil society.
Hegel s views on religion in the state cannot be sufficiently aligned with that of Hobbes or Locke, and
Hegel s views are very much his own. In a sense, he combines elements of both of these two writers,
and takes aspects that make it difficult to draw a final conclusion that his ideas are more like one than
the other. Hegel s views on religion in relation to politics greatly differ from that of Hobbes and
Locke, but he believes that religion can play a vital role in creating ethical political communities.
Practicing your faith can provide information on morals to live by, ad create a stronger society.
Hegel believed that Christianity is able to become a public religion that all citizens can become a part
of. He thinks this religion is important because it aligns itself closely with his views on the way of
living an ethical life, and he believed that you can only become ethical by having this religious
support and faith in something. Christianity can be argued to be a religion of Sittlichkeit. This religion

Different Theories Of Psychology, And Beliefs And...
Everyone has their own philosophy about the way we live our lives, and how we follow a certain path
to get to our destination. One s philosophy may be based on their religious beliefs, what they were
taught growing up, or both. I was raised Christian and many of the beliefs I have stems from my
Christian roots. I was always told God was the reason a person behaved a certain way or the devil.
Now that I am older, and mostly due to my college education, I see the world differently. Before
learning about the different theories in psychology, and the beliefs and techniques that come with
them, I had applied many to my own life before. I am spiritual and I believe that many people are born
with destinies. I believe we are all on a path predetermined for us and that we take many detours along
the way. If we take the wrong detour, whether it be days, months, or years, something drastic will
happen to get us back on the right path. When we make friends, they either work out, or something
awful happens that ends the friendship. Once the air has been cleared, one can realize that a certain
person was leading us down the wrong path. The way we live life is largely influenced by the
company we keep and our upbringing. I have friends who were born in corrupt neighborhoods to
parents who were on drugs and they went down the same trail as them. Their environment played a
large part in how they chose to live their lives. Some people have a biological predisposition for drugs,

The Characteristics Of The Humanist Movement In The Iliad
There are many unknowns regarding who Homer was. His date of birth and death are still a mystery to
modern day historians, ranging anywhere between the twelfth to eighth century BCE. As to where he
was born, no one knows the exact location. Although there are many mysteries revolving around
Homer s life, there is one known fact: his epics changed history forever. Homer s epics are one of the
only few artifacts historians have to learn about Homer, which can reveal a lot if read carefully. After
reading the Iliad, it became clear that Homer was an early Humanist, one who possibly shaped or
inspired the Humanist movement in Classical Greece during the fifth and fourth century BCE. The
Humanist movement during Classical Greece glorified the human body, which can be shown through
the many sculptures and paintings created during the era. These sculptures resembled the ideal human
body, the body every Greek should strive to achieve. The ideal body type was that of an athlete (PBS,
2017). There are hints of this image of the ideal body in Homer s Iliad. The section of the text that
indicates that Homer can be an early humanist is when he writes, Here was the ugliest man who ever
came to Troy. Bandy legged he was, with one foot clubbed, both shoulders humped together, curving
over his caved in chest, and bobbing above them his skull warped to a point, sprouting clumps of
scraggly, woolly hair (Homer 750 BCE, 250 255). In this description of Thersites, Homer never calls

OBJECT ONE: Projector Scene from the episode Hush, of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, occurring
approximately 27 minutes in.
I have chosen to scrutinize this particular scene as its complete lack of dialogue allows us to closely
examine how non verbal communication is used to convey meaning. Nonverbal communication
between people is communication through sending and receiving wordless cues (Stephen W.
Littlejohn 2009). When we consider that Individuals are believed to use clothing to define and
communicate their social identities to others (Fienberg 1992), we can attach a wealth of information to
the onscreen characters simply from observing their costumes. Giles blazer allows him to be viewed
as authoritative and mature; Buffy s fashionable outfit is synonymous with her popular status, whilst
Xander s sports Guernsey and sneakers underpin his casual, outgoing persona. The director of the
show uses the
style, branding, colour and fashionability of the clothing as a tool for the audience to

Ruffles Go Way Back To The 15th Century
Ruffles, or ruffs go way back to the 15th century. The ruff was a wide pleated collar which was meant
to protect the outer garments from excessive wear and washing. Gradually, it grew larger and became
it s own independent garment. Those who wore ruffles were expected to be well privileged. It was a
symbol of status and wealth as not everyone could not afford it. Ruffs were highly luxurious garments.
Despite the fact that they started as a pattern for men s and women s apparel, starting with Queen
Elizabeth, they started to exaggerate ruffles to enhance their femininity and to represent their powerful
status. In time, the ruffle became less expensive and made way to modern day female embellishments.

The Lord Of The Rings Essay
The murder of DĂ©agol haunted Gollum, and he had made up a defense, repeating it to his precious
over and over (The Fellowship of the Ring 62). This quote gives a look into the strongest moment of
shock that impacted young Sméagol s life forever. Gollum is a fictional character unlike any other in
The Lord of the Rings series, as he is portrayed as having undiagnosed Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder. There are six recurring symptoms that must happen in conjunction with traumatic factors in
order for someone to be diagnosed with PTSD, and unfortunately for Sméagol his actions and history
sync perfectly into the diagnosis. Due to the fact that Gollum is a fictional character out of a book, it
seems that the author, J.R.R. Tolkien, may have purposely given these attributes to Gollum to display
PTSD. Though Tolkien may argue that his time in the war did not highly influence his books,
subconsciously Tolkien, like many who were in the war, could have had undiagnosed PTSD or known
someone who did. As a combat veteran, Tolkien and his friends were more likely to develop PTSD.
This may have resulted in portraying these symptoms on to one specific character, Gollum. Post

Alicia Gonzalez
Professor Richard C. Smith
English 150
8 October 2016 The importance of landscape throughout Hard Times by Charles Dickens is seen in
various locations that help to thread the novel together. When new scenes are presented to the reader,

characterized by its repetitive and endless labor. Coketown is therefore essential as a setting displaying
the negative aspects of industrialization. However, there is additional significance in the negative
portrayal of Coketown. The idea of monotony in the industrial city is one that is returned to several
times throughout the novel. Dickens writes

For Vyse, life regained a semblance of normality, albeit without the support of Nell Vyse, his ex wife and partner. However, he set to work again making wheel thrown vessels and modelling figures, of which, he sent a number to the Royal Academy, often as not, competing with Parr for supremacy of work accepted for exhibition. As Vyse had earlier proposed, he modelled only terracotta figures for exhibition, and in 1945, excluding a number of stoneware figures, he exhibited three works at the Royal Academy s Summer Exhibition modelled in this medium. I watched Erin Brockovich to see how the film legitimizes the law, how it stresses flaws in our legal system and how it accurately depicts the American legal system. This film is a dramatized version of a true story, but the story stays mostly accurate to the legitimization of the law. Erin Brockovich was working at a law firm as an assistant. Erin ended up discovering that the water in Hinkley, California was contaminated with hexavalent chromium which is poisonous and was causing all the residents to get very sick. Throughout the film Erin and the lawyer, Ed Masry, end up getting over 600 plaintiffs who suffered significant damages to testify against the company PG E. To begin, the film depicts how much tedious and precise legal work is involved and how much time it takes up to get everything in order to file a lawsuit. It shows how Erin had to work long hours, work from home and take time away from her children. The film also accurately documents how slowly a case moves in our legal system. It depicts this by showing how much time and work is needed to collect evidence and get the statements of all the plaintiffs. It accurately depicts how much time it takes to do all of that by showing Erin visiting all the plaintiffs multiple times. In the film, Erin also goes to many different places to collect physical evidence. Character Analysis Of Goodbye Despair Finally, in regard to creating balance within the narrative, it is important to discuss how Goodbye Despair s two sub protagonists are also the game s two potential love interests for the player s character. The idea of contradiction based balance between the two characters is present here as well. Chiaki is initially presented as the standard heroine based loved interest for Hajime to pursue. Not only is she nice to Hajime, inviting him to hang out and work together, but also she is physically attractive, being presented with a cute face and curvy figure under her school uniform. Mostly due to the popularity of Nagito s character, the developers have placed many of the traditional female fan service gags on to him. In addition to having Nagito appear on many of the promotional material in his normal island outfit, Danganronpa also had him appear in other traditionally female outfits, such as a kimono and a servant outfit. Furthermore, he receives these gags inside the story as well; for example the character gets an over exaggerated shower scene in Danganronpa: The End of Hope s Peak Academy Despair Side. Nagito also has received his own mini album, several song based vocal tracks preformed by the character s voice actor. These mini albums are traditionally given to female characters, due to the fact that many female anime characters are presented with the ability to sing well because it makes them more attractive. The songs included on the album include two love songs, one directed to an ambiguous male individual and the second directed to Hajime specifically. Moreover, the way that Nagito talks about Hajime imparts a more romantic aspect to the two boys relationship than the relationship between Hajime and Chiaki. Starting with the Psychodynamic theory is an approach to psychology that studies the psychological forces underlying human behavior, feelings, and emotions, and how they may relate to early childhood experience. Collective learning is how individuals learned to do many fundamental tasks and how various cultures in the world developed. Early evidence of collective learning was found by archaeologists when they discovered human skulls that dated back about 200,000 years ago. These skulls had a more flexible jaw allowing those early humans to speak vocally. (Early Evidence of Collective Learning, Big History Project). Languages allowed humans to share information with each other and pass down information across countless generations. Humans have cultivated a complex and well defined language that has allowed for collective learning in which we can progress much further as a society than any other animal group has. All living beings have communication but what s special about human communication is that there are elaborate languages. These elaborate languages have a lot of flexibility to the point where new words are made and added constantly (Text 8). However, in other organisms that doesn t happen because they keep on communicating in a stagnant language. For example, bacteria can communicate by producing distinctive organic molecules that have specialized receptors. These receptors allow bacteria to detect the presence of other bacteria (Text 1). Was the Great fire of London an act of terrorism or an act of God? There are numerous explanations that attribute to the belief in either. To paint a picture before the fire of London, Tinniswood called London smoke polluted with deformed buildings, so much so that the magistrate would not warrant any extreme haste when fire, which was common among a town full of old wooden buildings, happened there (11). Furthermore the industries in London polluted the air (12). It is easy to picture how lowly and poverty stricken the pre fire London really was. In addition to all of this, many people believed apocalypse and judgment were to befall the great city anyways; that it was only a matter of time until God was to act there. When the British attacked and sunk the Dutch fleet, there was the presence in the date of three sixes, the year 1666, and this caused great fear, causing many to consider this a prophecy, and Londoners of the day took prophecies very seriously. This is pointed out in the book by astrologer John Booker entitled: New Almanack and Prognostication, which Tinniswood references in his text (20 21). This grand fanaticism in belief of God s judgment upon London among the people can be further displayed in some writings of one of the Duke s helpers under Lord Berkeley. • 24. A Rose For Emily Grierson Symbolism The symbolism of Emily Grierson in A Rose for Emily William Faulkner s short story, A Rose for Emily, is a textbook example of the Southern Gothic genre. Set in the deep south in the late 1800s, it is an examination of the Old South s unwillingness to change after losing the Civil War. The main character Emily Grierson is faced with several hardships that are shown throughout the story. In this paper, I will argue that Emily symbolizes the South s inability to progress after losing the civil war. Grierson, a relic of the white aristocracy, resists every step toward progress the town makes. A shut in, Emily is the epitome of the Southern oddity, as she performs peculiar rituals behind closed doors. The town is left to wonder about her; As Faulkner states, upon her death, people went to see the inside of her house, which no one save a manservant had seen in the last ten years (Faulkner 391). Before then it was unsure if it was a disorder on its own, if it only coexisted with other disorders, or only mocked other disorders. Most people suffering from BPD have problems regulating emotions and thoughts, have impulsive and reckless behavior, and have unstable relations with others. High rates of comorbidity occur with this disorder including; depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and eating disorders. BPD affects about four percent of the community, but can be as high as twenty percent in many clinical psychiatric populations. It can be difficult to treat because it responds poorly to most conventional methods of treatment and because of how little we still know about it. There have been many great discoveries about BPD in only a few decades. There are still many questions to be answered about this disorder, but it has gone from a label attached to those who did not quite fit into other categories to a completely separate and somewhat understood mental illness. History First recorded accounts of symptoms associated with BPD can be found in medical literature from almost three thousand years ago. • 27. U.s. Foreign Policy During World War II Essay The turn of the twentieth century brought about changes in all aspects of American domestic society and especially in the course of U.S. Foreign Policy. The factors leading up to American involvement in the Spanish American War of 1898 and in World War II, respectively, mark drastic shifts in domestic attitudes towards America s role in the world. Ostensibly, the decisions to intervene in Cuba in 1898 and in Europe in 1917 were both products of aggressions against Americans at sea, endangered economic interests, and the fear of European encroachment upon the Western Hemisphere. Domestically, however, the hyper masculinity and expansionist fervor precipitating the U.S. decision to intervene in Cuba contrasts sharply with the reform driven decision making process which preceded U.S. entry into WWI. Both cases of military intervention constitute acts of imperialism, albeit in different senses, as the underlying goal of the United States 1898 intervention in Cuba was physical expansion, while America s longstanding quest for an Ideological Empire was born with entrance into WWI. Indeed, contemporaries frequently pointed to violations of U.S. neutrality at sea as the most shocking hostility of belligerents. The sensationalist newspapers of the 1890s quickly published dramatized accounts of Spain s alleged involvement in the sinking of the USS Maine, which resulted in the deaths of 261 American crewmembers. Alan Sears Theory And Common Sense Summary Although I was aware that sociology like the other social sciences is full of theories, I was very intrigued by the social order model and conflict model that Alan Sears presented. In the chapter, Theory and Common Sense, from the text, A Good Book, In Theory, Alan Sears begins by asserting that our thoughts and beliefs that we consider to be common sense are actually assumptions that we have unknowingly learn from institutions. Sears goes on to explain that in order to unlearn the ideas that we have adopted unconsciously, we must think critically about our common sense and look at things we already know as if for the first time (29). One example that Sears uses is the fact that we see the sun and know that the Earth is actually moving. We believe this to be the truth even though we can not fully wrap our heads arounds the phenomenon. This emphasizes our natural tendency as members of society to absorb information from those that we perceive to be more knowledgeable than us because we re taught that people in higher positions than us(i.e. teachers, government ... Team Dynamics and Conflict Resolution Strategies Team Dynamics and Conflict Resolution Strategies University of Phoenix Success in many areas of our lives, be it family, education, business, or leisure, is dependent on successful teamwork. Teams are a number of persons associated together in work or activity...a group on one side (Merriam Webster, 2008). There are many types of teams, work teams, school teams, sports teams, families etc. The fact remains that teams, because they are made up of imperfect human beings, are inherently dysfunctional ( Lencioni, 2002). This inherent dysfunction is more commonly referred to as conflict. Working teams/groups need to be able to resolve conflict quickly and effectively in order to keep the team working well. Therefore, understanding and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Arbitration is mainly for a more serious problem within a team. Most teams never make it to the point of arbitration. The process is held within a room that is similar to a court room. This is a process in which the disputes wave the right of a jury. With the amount of conflict in this world, it is good to know different ways of solving the conflict quickly and professionally. Negotiation should most always be used at the first step in conflict resolution. It is the easiest strategy to implement, and has the benefit of keeping the conflict within the team. When a decision cannot be made, there are times that an impartial third party needs to be involved. Mediation is the next step from negotiation and helps bring the opposing sides closer to, if not make, a final decision by the use of a fresh pair of eyes . When the conflict almost gets to the worst place possible then arbitration is the strategy to use. Arbitration brings in the big guns with the use of the arbitrator. This decision is the end all, legally binding, conclusion of the situation. In the end, teamwork is the best way to avoid conflicts. When a group of people successfully work together toward a common goal, while taking in everyone s strengths and weaknesses, they become a team. It is teamwork that remains the ultimate ... This was view expressed by Professor Emeritus Ramesh Deosaran at the Ministry of Education s Administrator s Conference at the Miracle Ministries Pentecostal High School yesterday. Deosaran, who was the feature speaker, told those present that the society is at a point where it needs to be rebuilt from scratch and teachers are the ones who can accomplish this feat. That is a remarkable phenomenon, these children do not believe that they or anyone in their school can hope to be something like that. Questioned by media during a lunch break, Deosaran elaborated on his comments, saying, There are several factors that affect the education system for example: social class, economic differences, ethnic differences gender differences and even where the students are located, because you find in one district, for example, Victoria a high proportion of what you call the prestige schools exist, so all these factors, converge to create a disturbing degree of inequality in the education system. Deosaran said his conclusion was based on a report done in 1994 and research and observation over the years. • 31. Hegel s Views On Religion Religion for Hegel was something that was discussed throughout some of his different writings, and was something that he had strong views on. It can be argued that his view on religion in the state for the citizens creates the most liberal society when comparing with that of Locke or Hobbes for those who desire to practice their faith. He gives the choice to be involved in religion, or not, and shows how religion can benefit the functioning of civil society. Hegel s views on religion in the state cannot be sufficiently aligned with that of Hobbes or Locke, and Hegel s views are very much his own. In a sense, he combines elements of both of these two writers, and takes aspects that make it difficult to draw a final conclusion that his ideas are more like one than the other. Hegel s views on religion in relation to politics greatly differ from that of Hobbes and Locke, but he believes that religion can play a vital role in creating ethical political communities. Practicing your faith can provide information on morals to live by, ad create a stronger society. Hegel believed that Christianity is able to become a public religion that all citizens can become a part of. He thinks this religion is important because it aligns itself closely with his views on the way of living an ethical life, and he believed that you can only become ethical by having this religious support and faith in something. Christianity can be argued to be a religion of Sittlichkeit. This religion ultimately ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One s philosophy may be based on their religious beliefs, what they were taught growing up, or both. I was raised Christian and many of the beliefs I have stems from my Christian roots. I was always told God was the reason a person behaved a certain way or the devil. Now that I am older, and mostly due to my college education, I see the world differently. Before learning about the different theories in psychology, and the beliefs and techniques that come with them, I had applied many to my own life before. I am spiritual and I believe that many people are born with destinies. I believe we are all on a path predetermined for us and that we take many detours along the way. If we take the wrong detour, whether it be days, months, or years, something drastic will happen to get us back on the right path. When we make friends, they either work out, or something awful happens that ends the friendship. Once the air has been cleared, one can realize that a certain person was leading us down the wrong path. The way we live life is largely influenced by the company we keep and our upbringing. I have friends who were born in corrupt neighborhoods to parents who were on drugs and they went down the same trail as them. Their environment played a large part in how they chose to live their lives. Some people have a biological predisposition for drugs, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Characteristics Of The Humanist Movement In The Iliad There are many unknowns regarding who Homer was. His date of birth and death are still a mystery to modern day historians, ranging anywhere between the twelfth to eighth century BCE. As to where he was born, no one knows the exact location. Although there are many mysteries revolving around Homer s life, there is one known fact: his epics changed history forever. Homer s epics are one of the only few artifacts historians have to learn about Homer, which can reveal a lot if read carefully. After reading the Iliad, it became clear that Homer was an early Humanist, one who possibly shaped or inspired the Humanist movement in Classical Greece during the fifth and fourth century BCE. The Humanist movement during Classical Greece glorified the human body, which can be shown through the many sculptures and paintings created during the era. These sculptures resembled the ideal human body, the body every Greek should strive to achieve. The ideal body type was that of an athlete (PBS, 2017). There are hints of this image of the ideal body in Homer s Iliad. The section of the text that indicates that Homer can be an early humanist is when he writes, Here was the ugliest man who ever came to Troy. Bandy legged he was, with one foot clubbed, both shoulders humped together, curving over his caved in chest, and bobbing above them his skull warped to a point, sprouting clumps of scraggly, woolly hair (Homer 750 BCE, 250 255). OBJECT ONE: Projector Scene from the episode Hush, of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, occurring approximately 27 minutes in. I have chosen to scrutinize this particular scene as its complete lack of dialogue allows us to closely examine how non verbal communication is used to convey meaning. Nonverbal communication between people is communication through sending and receiving wordless cues (Stephen W. Littlejohn 2009). When we consider that Individuals are believed to use clothing to define and communicate their social identities to others (Fienberg 1992), we can attach a wealth of information to the onscreen characters simply from observing their costumes. Giles blazer allows him to be viewed as authoritative and mature; Buffy s fashionable outfit is synonymous with her popular status, whilst Xander s sports Guernsey and sneakers underpin his casual, outgoing persona. The director of the show uses the style, branding, colour and fashionability of the clothing as a tool for the audience to assess their personality traits (Chalky et al, 2012). Non verbal communication within this scene also manifests itself via kinetic transmission; that is, posture, eye contact and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Lord Of The Rings Essay The murder of DĂ©agol haunted Gollum, and he had made up a defense, repeating it to his precious over and over (The Fellowship of the Ring 62). This quote gives a look into the strongest moment of shock that impacted young SmĂ©agol s life forever. Gollum is a fictional character unlike any other in The Lord of the Rings series, as he is portrayed as having undiagnosed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. There are six recurring symptoms that must happen in conjunction with traumatic factors in order for someone to be diagnosed with PTSD, and unfortunately for SmĂ©agol his actions and history sync perfectly into the diagnosis. Due to the fact that Gollum is a fictional character out of a book, it seems that the author, J.R.R. Tolkien, may have purposely given these attributes to Gollum to display PTSD. Though Tolkien may argue that his time in the war did not highly influence his books, subconsciously Tolkien, like many who were in the war, could have had undiagnosed PTSD or known someone who did. As a combat veteran, Tolkien and his friends were more likely to develop PTSD. This may have resulted in portraying these symptoms on to one specific character, Gollum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event (NIMH), just as Gollum had and continues to be put through. • 43. The Importance Of Landscape Throughout Hard Times By... Alicia Gonzalez Professor Richard C. Smith English 150 8 October 2016 The importance of landscape throughout Hard Times by Charles Dickens is seen in various locations that help to thread the novel together. When new scenes are presented to the reader, we are often given explicit details of the characters surrounding and current environment to draw us into that particular moment. The city is mainly described in a more negative light, with words such as ugly and monotonous. In contrast, the countryside (away from the hustle of the working town) is portrayed in such a way that it feels like a pure or sacred space, free of the blemishes of the working town. Dickens creates an underlying importance with how he describes the city versus how he describes the countryside, being that the latter becomes the place of death for one of the main characters Stephen Blackpool. The city of Coketown is a town introduced as an uncompromising, brutal, and fearful place defined by its work and industrialization. The description that we are given of Coketown makes it clear that it is not a place of enjoyment, pleasure, or nature. It is heavily characterized by its repetitive and endless labor. Coketown is therefore essential as a setting displaying the negative aspects of industrialization. However, there is additional significance in the negative portrayal of Coketown. The idea of monotony in the industrial city is one that is returned to several times throughout the novel. Dickens writes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
