Sample Letter For The Brochure
Unit 12 Evaluation for the Brochure
The aim of the brochure was to inform the tourists about the best places to visit Newcastle upon Tyne.
I included information about Nightlife, Shopping, Entertainment and Food, which I included with
useful information. I am not allowed to use the font style Arial and Times New Roman. Also, the other
decisions, which were made will be specified whilst I am discussing the pages.
After the initial client meeting and subsequent meetings for designs I began work on the CRC of the
document.
I will evaluate the layout and content of my brochure against the client brief and the questionnaire,
which I gave the client to answer. The page layout for each page is A4. At first I divided the pages into
three section, this made it more appealing and stand out. This is through including images,
information and designing the page. The purpose of this is because I wanted to ensure the information
and the sizes of the images fills the page. This is because I wanted to make it more different and
appealing, which is significant. The information is placed in a rectangular or square box and it fits the
whole A4 page. The purpose of this was to make it stand out, which would encourage the reader s to
carry on reading the brochure. The point size of the texts varies this depends if it is the subheading,
heading or body text and this is to make some information stand out more than others. For instance,
make the heading stand out so the reader s are aware

The Dothraki Sea Summary
Backstory The Dothraki sea Ziffio son of Zinemmo was born in Vaes Dothrak under the _____ to the
elderly Khal Zinemmo and his Khaleesi Hezi. At the age of four, he lost his father who was killed in a
friendly sparring match with his younger Ko Bharbo. According to Dothraki tradition Bharbo
succeeded Zinemmo as Khal. When this occurred Bharbo agreed to escort Ziffio s mother to Vas
Dothrak but he demanded that Ziffio, at age four, swear an oath of allegiance to him as Khal. This was
a surprising demand but all those in the Khalasar believe it was because Bharbo saw promise in their
previous Khal s son and would one day make him a bloodrider or jaqqa rhan. Bharbo had a son,
Drogo, who was three years younger than Ziffio. They grew up competing and challenging each other
to be better warriors. As they grew and the Khal aged, the Khalasar believed that one day Drogo
would succeed his father and appoint his friend Ko. Had things been different this might have
occurred but when Ziffio was eighteen he lost more than just his closest friend. All of the Khalasars

He wanted to kill his friend for what he believed was a betrayal. Hezi urged her son not to challenge
Drogo. It would go against his oath of allegiance. Training and fighting for the thrill of it were one
thing but to challenge the son of a Khal in Vas Dothrak no less, was as sure as death. Ziffio went
against the advice and challenged his former friend in front of several other Khal s. Both Drogo and
Khal Bharbo approved of the challenge as it is the Dothraki way to praise strength. But Khal Bharbo
was not willing to let it be a fight to the death instead he set the fallowing terms; If Ziffio won then so
be it, they would count the matter settled and he would be appointed to a position of his choosing, but
if his actions betrayed the pledge of allegiance he took and would be punished accordingly,

Mother Child Coresidence
This study is a research article that uses cross sectional secondary data. The study explores the extent
of mother child coresidence and the mother characteristics explaining children s coresidence with their
mothers using the full birth histories from the 2014 Lesotho Demographic health survey data.
Research has predominantly used the children s reports from the household schedule for exploring
children s coresidence with their parents. In the children s reports mothers are identified and their
information readily available if part of the household, but there is no information on the mothers who
are not part of the household. Our study uses the women s full birth histories which allow analysis of

Howard Robard Hughes s Life
Howard Robard Hughes was a very inventive, attention getting man. He was an out spoken
entrepreneur who was best known for his hard work and dedication in motion pictures and the aviation
industry. His inherited fortune gave him the opportunity to start building on his dreams at an early age.
Although Howard remained in the news his entire life he was not always looked on favorably in the
public s eye. In later years his paranoia left him a recluse and in twenty years he had not been seen or
photographed by the public. Howard was born on Christmas Eve 1904, in Houston, Texas. He was the
only child of Howard Robard Hughes Senior and Alene Gano Hughes. His mother died when he was
sixteen and his father died when he was 18. Howard s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though he made several stops he was back home 4 days later, he landed at 2:37 on July 14. On
July 7, 1946 he took the new XF 11 plane up for a spin. After about an hour he crashed at the LA
Country Club golf course. The crash left him unconscious in a burning plane with a punctured lung,
fractured leg and a bunch of cuts and burns. A Marine sergeant pulled Hughes out of the plane, and he
was rushed to Beverly Hills Emergency Hospital. He was given a fifty percent chance to live. As he
suffered with serious head and back injuries, he became addicted to painkillers. Hughes was
constantly self injecting morphine into his body. As the years passed he became irrationally paranoid.
He surrounded himself with aides that he trusted; a group of seven Mormons which never left Howard
s side, and insisted that any item handed to him be covered by a Kleenex. Hughes had many projects
he worked on such as the Spruce Goose. It was the biggest plane ever built. With a wing span as long
as a football field and room for six hundred plus passengers it was very famous. The Spruce Goose
had eight seventeen foot propellers and the interior looked like the set of the old Time Tunnel, TV
series. On November 2, 1945 in San Pedro Harbor the Spruce Goose flew but for only seventy yards.
Hughes also built the world s first communications satellite. His dream was that anyone on or about
the earth could communicate with someone else. Arthur C. Clark first had this idea but never

Eliyahu M. Goldratt s The Goal
Alex Rogo in the novel The Goal, by Eliyahu M. Goldratt faces many issues when trying to save his
failing plant. He has three months to turn the failing plant around. Rogo is on the verge of losing his
job for having an unproductive plant. He is constantly dealing with emergencies at the plant because
has a large backlog of customer orders, long lead times, angry customers and significant amounts of
work in process inventory sitting around the plant. He has very expensive, up to date, supposedly
extremely productive robots on his factory floor but something is not working correctly or the plant
would not be failing like it is. Rogo wants and needs to improve his plant productivity. Rogo

When Rogo sells an item from inventory, he is selling an asset, which was valued at full cost. The
plant increased the production of the bottlenecks and shipped 3 million dollars in orders during the
second month. Labor costs were then unchanged, so labor, depreciation, and utility costs should
remain constant. Bill Peach then told Rogo to increase these profits by 15%, which means to keep the
plant open, he would need additional money. Rogo figured out the correct pricing so if material costs
were 344 dollars per unit, and a 1,000 dollar sales price, an additional 208 units would be sufficient to
reach the target and the factory would ultimately stay open and he would not lose his job and hundreds
of workers would not be out of work

Forms Of Government In Dracula By Bram Stoker
There are many forms of government around the world. The United States is a democratic republic.
North Korea is governed under an authoritarian dictatorship. Some countries are monarchies governed
by hereditary rulers. But whether these are good forms of government depends on whether they
achieve the purposes of government. For example, the Apostle Paul said that the purpose of
government was to punish evildoers, or said another way, to secure the peace. (Romans 13:40)
Another example is the US Constitution that says government has six purposes: to secure unity,
justice, domestic tranquility, defense, general welfare and liberty. (Preamble to the US Constitution)
To achieve any of these goals, the best government would be able to identify ... Show more content on

A strong defense protects the country from outside invaders, promotes a sense of well being within the
country, and allows people the confidence to prosper. A vampire government would be able to defend
its citizens from outside threats far better than any human form of government. Consider the
characteristics that make vampires so good in battle as described by Professor Van Helsing in Bram
Stoker s Dracula. He throws no shadow. He is as strong as 20 men; he is of cunning more than mortal,
for his cunning be the growth of ages... He can transform himself into wolf... He can be as bat. He can
come in mist which he can create... He can appear as elemental dust and become small. He can, when
once he find his way, come out from anything or into anything, no matter how close it be bounce or
fused up with fire... he can also see in the dark. ...he can, within his range, direct the elements: the
storm, the fog, the thunder; he can command all the meaner things: the rat, and the owl, and the bat the
moth, and the fox, and the wolf; he can grow and become small; and he can at times vanish and come
unknown. (Bram Stoker s Dracula pg. 287). This quote shows directly just how powerful vampires
can be in battle. No human army in the world would be a match for a vampire led army, much less an
army of vampires. If a vampire became threatened he or she could just vanish into thin air, raise a
storm to the detriment of his enemies, summon animals to assail for it, drown its enemies in water,
burn its enemies with the snap of its fingers, or just simply attack them with his/her own hands.
According to Count Dracula in Bram Stoker s Dracula, men of the Dracula blood were great leaders in
battle and can boast a record that mushroom growths like the Hapsburgs and the Romanoffs can never
reach. (Dracula pg. 42) No human army can boast

Pineal Gland Cell Tumors
tumors are treated but if surgery is not a viable treatment radiation can also be used. Schwannomas are
most commonly non cancerous and begin in the hearing nerve. The hearing nerve can also be called
the acoustic nerve, 8th cranial nerve, or the vestibulocochlear nerve. For the most part, this type of
tumor is found in between the cerebellum and the pons at an angle. This type of tumor exhibits slow
growth as these tumors slowly grow they move nerve fibers which can cause complications.
Furthermore, they can form in any nerve that is peripheral as long as Schwann cells are present. If the
Schwannomas form in the spinal canal they can form in a dumbbell shape which can then move in or
out of the spinal canal using the nerve root. The main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Pineal Region tumors don t have to involve the pineal gland The different types of
tumors that truly come from pineal gland cells are mixed pineal tumors, pineoblastoma, and
pineocytoma. The types of tumors that can occur in the pineal region but don t necessarily have pineal
gland cells are germinoma, non germinoma, dermoid cysts, meningiomas, astrocytomas, and
gangliogliomas. The pineal gland cells come from the pineal gland which is located at the back of the
third ventricle. A ventricle in the brain is a cavity filled with fluid. The pineal gland tumors are all
different like the Pineocytoma is only a grade II tumor that slowly grows while the Pineoblastoma can
be a grade IV aggressive tumor or a grade III intermediate. There is also the mixed pineal tumors that
have unique combinations of different cell types. Symptoms associated with this type of tumor are
mainly due to the cerebrospinal fluid flow being blocked as well as eye movement being
compromised. The main symptoms are vomiting, double vision, and headaches. Pineal Region tumors
are thought to have a connection to chromosomal abnormalities and the main treatment is radiation
therapy and possibly surgery. Additionlly, to help with the diagnosis of this type of tumor many patient

Theories Of Plate Tectonics
Plate Tectonics have been recently discovered. Earthquakes and volcanoes can now be located and the
public can find out when it will erupt or occur. Our earth has a fragile shell, which moves around
recycling itself, to form new layers of crust. The theory of plate tectonics was helped develop by the
theory of plate tectonics. Convection currents and gravitational forces move tectonic plates. The
contact between plates, creates earthquakes, volcanoes, islands and mid ocean ridges. Mountain

Kate Chopin and T. Coraghessan Boyle made excellent use of the elements point of view, character,
and setting in their short stories The Storm and Greasy Lake . Kate Chopin s characters and events
follow the setting the storm. This greatly enhances her work. Boyle s characters mirror his setting as
well a greasy lake. It is amazing how much greater depth and deeper the insight is for a story when the
potentials of elements of writing are fulfilled and utilized.

The main character of Boyle s story is the nameless narrator. He is more round than flat, mainly
because of the point of view of first person. The reader must of course get closer to the main character
because they become them when they read the story. The reader sees inside the narrator and through
his eyes out at the world around him because of his thoughts and actions. Boyle develops his main
character through the point of view taken they cannot be separated.
We wore torn up leather jackets, slouched around with toothpicks in our mouths, sniffed glue and
ether and what somebody claimed was cocaine. When we wheeled our parents whining station wagons
out onto the street we left a patch of rubber half a block long. We drank gin and grape juice, Tango,
Thunderbird, and Bali Hai. We were nineteen. We were bad. We read Andre Gide and struck elaborate
poses to show that we didn t give a shit about anything. (Boyle 129)
This self description of the narrator says it all. He gives a brutal, yet inflated description of himself
and his friends that gives the reader a very round main character.
The setting in both of these short stories is the essence of their themes. The authors have drawn
characters that parallel their settings. From this, the reader can draw many conclusions and insights
about the themes of the stories. The Storm occurs in Louisiana

difficulties faced by most people in their 20 s. This article demonstrates how social media can add to
emotional stress throughout an individual s life. Samantha uses diction to help her convey the central
idea. She does this to emphasize the struggle of having a stable mental health. The author makes it
very noticeable how hard it is to maintain a positive attitude while transitioning into their 20 s with
social media as a factor. Samantha described how social communication can ruin one s self esteem in

How Did Galilei Contribute To Physics
Modern physics owes its beginning to Galileo, who was the first astronomer to use a telescope. By
discovering four satellites of the planet Jupiter, he gave visual evidence that supported the Copernican
theory (see astronomy). Galileo thus helped disprove much of the medieval thinking in science.
Galileo Galilei, who is generally known only by his first name, was born in Pisa, Italy, on February
15, 1564. His family belonged to the nobility but was not rich. His father sent him to study medicine
at the local university. Galileo, however, soon turned to a career in science.
In 1583 Galileo discovered the law of the pendulum by watching a chandelier swing in the cathedral at
Pisa. He timed it with his pulse and found that, whether it swung in a wide or a narrow arc, it always
took the same time to complete an oscillation. He thus gave society the first reliable means of keeping
time.
A lecture on geometry kindled his interest in mathematics, and he got his father s consent to change
his studies. Lack of money forced him to leave school in 1585, and he became a lecturer at the
Academy of Florence. The next year he attracted attention with discoveries in hydrostatics. His work
in dynamics won him an appointment as lecturer on mathematics at the University of Pisa in 1589.
He soon made enemies with his arguments against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He devised a simple thermometer and inspired a pupil, Evangelista Torricelli, to invent the barometer.
Galileo s great contribution to scientific thinking was the principle of inertia. Before his time everyone
followed Aristotle s theory that when an object moved, something had to act continuously to keep it
moving. Galileo countered this with the theory that if a body is moving freely, something must happen
to stop it or to make it change

The Indians who were comitted to independence were very upset. Because British taxed on all of the

Although Gandhi knows the boundaries of the Salt law, his disobedience was an act of protest against
the British rule in India. The march which took nearly a month, was around 241 miles. The march
resulted in nearly 60,000 people getting arrested and Gandhi being one of them. Gandhi spoke and led
prayers when they had arrived and were on the way down to the sea to make salt. He had planned to
work the salt flats on the beach, encrusted with crystallized sea salt at every high tide, but the police
had forestalled him by crushing the salt deposits into the mud. The protesters had not broken the law
until Gandhi reached down and grabbed a lump of salt from the edge of the sea. Thousands more did
as he did and even aster he was arrested his followers continued to pick up the salt, just as he wanted.

The Evolution of Graphic Design
When graphic design began, it was much simpler than it is today. Most people consider graphic design
to be done only on computers and fancy operating systems, when in fact graphic design in much more
complex than that. Graphic design has its roots in early caveman drawings using stone, organic paints
and charcoal. Since these early humans had no to little verbal communication, logic dictates that they
would have to communicate instead with a plethora of symbols and graphic representations of ideas.
As time progressed, the methods of visual communication, as well as verbal communication, evolved.
Materials in graphic design became more refined such as digital or traditional printing. Some of the
milestones in graphic design were the invention of printing presses, text based design such as
Typography, molds, and computers. As new technology made the expression and sharing of art
possible, those who chose to create art formed new styles and ideas that also evolved.
Artistic molds were one of the first revolutionary things to come about in graphic design. The molds
allowed for the mass production of certain objects, letters, or shapes that would otherwise take several
hours to even days to be created. Once the molds were created, they could then be used to replicate
their shape by filing them with clay, stone, cement, ink and other artistic materials. The molds can be
made in varying shapes and sizes, allowing for artists to create precise works from different templates.

Falling from the Cliff
1. Falling from the cliff
1.1 Case Study
On April 1, 2007, a 48 year old woman was killed after plunging 50 meters from a cliff while hiking
on the rugged Lion Rock. She planned to climb over Lion Rock along an unnamed path with 2 people.
However, they got lost along the path. So, the woman climbed upward along a rough cliff to try to find
a way out. Unfortunately, she sipped and fell 50 meters down the cliff. She suffered severe injuries
and lost consciousness. Later, she was declared dead in hospital. [1]
1.2 Possible causes
For hikers, they may need to bear part of the responsibility to protect themselves. Some hikers may
neglect the danger while hiking.
Firstly, some people may walk too close to the edge that they may accidentally fall down when they
are careless or step on little rocks.
Secondly, some people may wear unsuitable shoes while hiking, like high heels and slippers. These
kinds of shoes cannot prevent slippery and cannot protect their foot if accidents happen.
Thirdly, some hikers may play along the road and accidentally push the other down the edge. Also,
some hikers would walk together hand in hand. In case one of them lose balance, all of them may fall
down.
Also, the rocks and roads may not in good conditions and cause the hikers to fall down when hikers
step on them.
Firstly, some mountain trails do not have any protective measures, like rails or barbed wire fence, on
the edge. If the road is narrow, hikers will have no choice other than

Narrative Essay On The Eiffel Tower
I woke up thinking about the contest again, but I pushed it aside and got ready to go touring again and
today we were going to the Eiffel Tower. We headed out at 10:00am and drove there in a cab, we
arrived and the view from our room was no match to the real deal, it was outstanding and a lot bigger
than I imaged too. We got in line for tickets and it didn t take to long, so we found our tour guide, so
that she could take us up in it, I was nervous and excited at the same time because I don t like heights,
but I do love scenery. We went up in an elevator to the first floor or the first platform and let me tell
you,it was as beautiful as a thousand roses, literally, there was thousands of roses everywhere, it was
magnificent. After a while we got back on the elevator to go to the top and on the way up the tour
guide told us that it is about 108 floor tall, twice the size of the one is Vegas. The elevator stopped and
we stepped out. The breeze was perfect and so was the weather, we walked out to a telescope and
plopped in a quarter. All I could say was wow, my mom and dad were almost speechless too. Once we
got up there I realized i wasn t afraid anymore, hopefully the contest was going to be the same way, I
took it all in, along with a thousand photos my mom took of us and everything else. We kept looking
at everything, it was like nothing I ve ever experienced before, it was perfect and so delicate, words
were not enough to explain it. The city was busy and all the cars and people looked like ants, the park
around us was perfect, the grass, the trees everything seemed so perfect around us, at least until it
started to pour rain. We ran into the elevator and luckily there was enough room for all of us because
there were people who didn t get in and i was sure they were drenched by now. After some time we
got to the bottom and ran to our cab as fast as cheetahs, but it didn t matter, we were drenched as well.
We got in our cab and drove to our hotel to change and dry off. We wandered the hotel after we
changed, to look at all the paintings and statues. It stopped raining after a little while and we decided
to go shopping around the boutiques, the look of the boutiques made me think that everything was

Asbestos and Its Effects on Human Health
I. Introduction
Asbestos refers to a group of minerals that take the form of thin crystal fibers. Asbestos has a history
of being mined for its physical properties that made it well suited for use in the construction and
automobile industries. There are six known types of asbestos that can be found in the environment, all
with similar and different properties. These types are referred to as chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite
tremolite, actinolite, and anthophyllite Scientific research in recent decades has revealed toxicity
associated with exposure in all types. Numerous major health organizations have agreed on the
carcinogenicity of the mineral leading to strict regulations of its use.
The Greeks who discovered it referred to it as inextinguishable and indestructible. History reveals that
Romans had used asbestos and made connections to exposure and health concerns. Large scale mining
of the mineral began in the 1800s and was heavily used until recent decades. Around the beginning of
the 1900s, serious medical exploration of asbestos began and started to become a well known job
hazard. By the 1970s, long term effects of exposure were undeniable (Barbalace 2004).
Since then, a significant decrease in the consumption of asbestos products has been seen, especially in
the United States. Increased knowledge of the potential dangers of the mineral has lead people to fear
asbestos creating a need for suitable alternatives (Toxicological 2001).

On Monday, November 5th, 2001, I was born in Wenatchee, Washington. My brother, older by three
years, was given a baby sister weighing seven pounds, and measured nineteen and a half inches tall.
The new, brown haired, brown eyed baby erupted into greeting screams at 8:45 pm, and my parents
welcomed their daughter, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A world full of creativity, and excitement that offered an astonishing history and future of which I had
just become a part of. At that time, Hurricane Michelle swept past the Bahamas with 85 mph winds,
flooding houses and cutting power ( Today in History November 5 ). In other news, US bombing
continued to hit Taliban front lines and attacks concentrated on caves and tunnels. About 2 dozen US
commandos were reported to be in Afghanistan ( Today in History November 5 ). These and other
events demonstrate the necessary perspective of the age to which I was born. However, more uplifting
events surrounded the day of my birth. According to the Billboard Hot 100 list of songs, Family Affair
by Mary J. Blige held the steady number one position on November 5th, 2001. The day of November
5th, is shared as a birthday for many other people. Including, Bryan Adams born November 5th, 1959,
and Alexa Chung born on November 5th, 1983. World news and popular media contribute to my
birthday by allowing one to better understand the period into which I was born.
The day of November 5th, 2001 stands uniquely in time, specifically to me as my birthday. Through
the examination of the day of my birth, I have found a new outlook concerning the circumstances of
the world, country, and town into which I was born. This knowledge grants me a new perspective on
not only how much I have grown into an individual, able to contribute

A Career In The Deaf Community
My career goal is to become an interpreter for the deaf and HOH particularity in the performing arts
districts in the Metropolitan Area of Washington, DC. In 10 years, I imagine myself interpreting for
aspiring deaf performers and encouraging my community to become deaf friendly by providing great

Currently, I work as an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Specialist for Naval Sea Systems

Nordic Noir Heroine
With the late 1990s noir women, international audiences were presented with a heroine who relies less
on her sexual performance, and more on other abilities (Wager, 2005, p. 6). This heroine existed
outside of the Production Code and shows more similarities with the revised Nordic Noir heroine. A
vast majority of these late 1990s women were, even though she was less dependent on her sexuality,
still rather attractive. Thus, even with their ability to triumph over the challenges they were exposed
to, their sexuality remained appealing. They seem to have been specifically celebrated and enjoyed as
females, including their pleasant aesthetics, instead of in a way overlooking the fact that the
protagonist is a female e.g. depicted as indifferent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jans B. Wager calls her the femme attrapée (2005, p. 4). These women do not resist the patriarchy and
consequently survive the narrative whereas the femme fatale who fights against the male domination
(both socially and economically) ends up losing her life or freedom (Wager, 2005, p. 4). Both her and
the femme fatale remain bound by patriarchal culture and classic film noir clearly delineates the
ambivalent nature of the choices available. The femme attrapée characteristics continue to exist in noir
films today, however often set in the time period of classic noir (Wager, 2005, p. 4). They do not
reflect the postfeminist existence that inhabits Nordic Noir, but moreover contradict, instead of revise,
the Western culture. She seems to exist to show the contrast between her and the femme fatale and
often it is the good girl that seems out of place, not the alluring and dangerous femme fatales. The
femme attrapée conflicts most with female characters in Nordic Noir as she is a female character who
is forced to give up, leaving a gap between desire and reality, whereas Nordic Noir s strong women, as
seen with the femme fatale, refuse to give up no matter how hard the struggle may be. The lack of
women in Nordic Noir that

Great Gatsby, Winter Dreams, And The Curious Case Of...
When we re living our life, sooner or later we ll have to confront one event where it will make us
reevaluate our life choices and it will be considered as an epiphany. This emotional turmoil is one of
the issues, if not, the biggest reason Winter Dreams is such a treat to most readers. Winter Dreams was
written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, an American author born in Saint Paul, MN in 1896, and deceased in
December 21, 1940 in Los Angeles, California. During these 44 years Fitzgerald s works achieved an
enormous recognition and appreciation from the public, to the point where these works became staples
in today s literature with stories like The Great Gatsby, Winter Dreams, and The Curious Case of
Benjamin Button. These pieces became staples in the American literature mainly because Fitzgerald
developed an expertise to illustrate the Jazz Age in his artworks. For example, the way he describes
the scenarios and the lavish life of the higher class in The Great Gatsby, and Winter Dreams. But what
is truly intriguing about Fitzgerald s pieces is the subtle darkness he utilizes in his pieces. As we ll
explore in Winter Dreams. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Is My Heart And My Soul, America, My Mind And Spirit,...
According to the article The Korean Language in America , Cultural identity is formed by the complex
configuration of one s awareness of one s own culture and a recognition of the social group to which
one belongs in practice. (117). Everyone has an identity that was created by culture. Everyone have a
culture that they were born into, sometimes with a mix of two or three cultures. Each culture has
different values and traditions that conflict a person s decision in life. However, having different
cultures make one interesting to learn about and explore the cultures. Cultures define my life with
romance, traditions, language, and friendship.
The autobiography I chose is Korea is My Heart and My Soul, America is My Mind and Spirit by

The Marshmallow Test
In the 1960 s, Walter Mischel and colleagues researched delaying gratification in children. The
development of the simply designed marshmallow test yielded a better understanding of delaying
gratification in children. The success of the marshmallow test generated a greater interest in
understanding human self control and fellow researchers continued to examine delaying gratification
and self control. B.J Casey, PhD, of Weill Cornell Medical College, Mischel, Yuichi Shoda, PhD, of
the University of Washington, and colleagues further examine Mischel s earlier research. This
continuation of the experiment and advances in medical research allowed for Casey et al. to examine
the neurological basis of gratification in adults. This research allows for a better understand in how a
child s ability to delay gratification can effect them across their lifespan. However, social environment
factors also contribute to difference in self control and ability to delay gratification. In the experiment,
Mischel and his colleagues individually tested preschoolers ability to delay gratification using the
marshmallow test. The child would be given a plate of treats, such as marshmallows, and told the
researcher had to leave for a few minutes. But, before the researcher left the child was given two
options: they could wait for the researcher to return and be rewarded with two marshmallows or once
the researcher left they could ring a bell and the researcher would immediately return, except the

The Impact Of Maritime Technology On The Age Of Exploration
Maritime Technology s Aid in the Age of Exploration The innovation of maritime technology has
revolutionized travel throughout history. Prior to ships and sea travel, humans were separated by vast
oceans and confined to their homeland for life. Because of these large boundaries, discoveries and
inventions were only shared within land masses and trade as a whole was very limited. This
uncharted, inaccessible territory caused a major separation of mankind. However, these oceans
sparked curiosity and desire for explorers to venture beyond their native land. This curiosity was the
driving force to the invention of naval travel, a highly important and massive step for all growing
communities during the Age of Exploration. Maritime technology s advancements through history
greatly aided in the Age of Exploration, allowing provinces to break their land boundaries and make
monumental steps towards the advanced world humans populate today. People living the the 15th
century had multiple reasons for venturing beyond its confinement of land. Scientific curiosity of the
world played a major part in the advancement of naval travel, but it was not the main cause of
exploration in these times. The Age of Exploration was sparked by Europeans wanting to find sea
routes to East Asia, which they called the Indies. Merchants and crusaders were bringing goods to
Europe from Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. These trade routes were controlled by the Muslims and
the Italians. However, flaws

Logistics, Management and Strategy
THE FUNDAMENTAL OF LOGISTIC MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGY
Xi Er Dang
Abstract
This paper provides a basic but fundamental understanding of logistic primarily based on the book of
Logistics Management and Strategy by Harrison and van Hoek. It will guide you through from the
basic definition and concepts to the different supply chain strategies that exist, as well as providing a
perception on the future logistic development. Explanation of principal terms like logistic, supply
chain management and supply network is discussed, and important logistic systems like just in time,
lean thinking and agile strategies are deliberated. Different ways of working together within the
supply chain is debated, where there are different ways of sharing ... Show more content on

(2004). The partners or suppliers which are near the source and thus the production until the focal firm
are referred to as upstream (buyer side) (Harrison and van Hoek 2005). In contrary to the partners or
first and second tier customers which deliver to the final end customer are referred to as downstream
(customer side). However, all partners are responsible of adding value to the end customer in each
process they conduct, where the process can be explained as transforming inputs to outputs. (ibid.)
Another term which is similar to supply chain is supply network, where both terms describe the
objective of serving the end customer through the linkage of different partners. Harland et al.‟s 2001
study (cited in Harrison and van Hoek 2005, p.10) distinct the term network and chain as following:
network as a complex structure of cross linkages between organizations, and chain as a simple step by
step link of few organizations. Harrison and van Hoek (2005) points out that the supply network
should be looked at as a system where there must be an understanding of how all process are
interacting with each other on a dependent way.
Competing through logistics
Harrios and van Hoek (2005) describe four ways of creating logistic advantage in which they
contributes to the competitive advantages of the company. The first way is to compete through quality
where the symptoms of quality problems signify

Generation 3 Research Paper
In Generation 3, we can see there is different pairs of color dot in the sexual experiment which
produced different color dots than the original one. For example, the same 2 color dot can produce
different color offspring, as the chart above, two lime produces 2 cream 4 lime and 2 brown. In
Asexual chart, the color of parent can only reproduce 1 type of offspring, because they reproduce as
single, and there is no diversity in each individual. Thus, Sexual reproduction has more diversity than
Asexual reproduction. Asexual reproduce from single parent, there is no way to reproduce variation,
they are the individuals that have to same DNA from their parent, their traits are the same
automatically. In other hands, There are 2 parents reproduce offspring in Sexual reproduction. Their
offspring is combine with the sperm and egg from the parents, and the sperm and egg include different
chromosomes which has two different traits from the male parents and the female parents, then the
offspring include some traits from the male parents and some from the female. Over time, the

While we put both lime color and green color dots on the cream habitat, they both look obvious. But
while some of the dots were spread (hide) in the insect, lime color will look obvious, therefore the
predator can easily catch the lighter green dots. So how many dots survive in the two color depends on
where they hide in. If lime and green color dots are both hide in cream habitat, in the contrast, lime
color dots will have less opportunity to be caught. In the contrary, if both color hides in the dark color
insects, the chance of lime being eaten will increase. For instance, we put two insects in the dessert,
one is lime grass hopper, the other is the green beetle. When the beetle is on the cream color sand, the
predator can see it easily, but if we put it on the trunk, neither we nor the predators can see it

What It Means To Understand The Purpose Of Life
they are designed to do, then how can they understand the Purpose of their mate or their marriage
when that time comes. I believe God connects a husband and wife together for His Purpose. God
created all of us with Purpose in mind. He knew us before we entered this world. In the book of
Jeremiah, God tells this prophet that He knew him before he was formed in the womb and that He set
him apart and ordained him as a prophet to the nations. This is true for us today. God created us for
Purpose. We are not here on earth to just exist from day to day. Without Purpose you will live a
meaningless life and possibly connect with the wrong mate that God did not intend for you to marry.

It is the reason in which God created you. Without Purpose, you can get lost in this world and lose
your way. An individual without Purpose is merely sleepwalking through life with their eyes open.
They will begin to be consumed with the mundane details of life. The joy and meaning they have will
start to evaporate as they are confronted with life s challenges. Having a clear idea of your Purpose in
life will keep you motivated and focused on the more important things. You tend to not be so focused
on your singleness when you have direction and understanding of your Purpose. For instance, once
you know what you are supposed to do with your life, you can make important decisions about where
to go to school, what to major in, the career you want to prosper in, the best companies to work for,
the best places to live, how to spend and invest finances, the kind of books and movies you will allow
to entertain you, the kind of friends you want in your life, the kind of mentors you desire and who you
would like to spend the rest of your love life with. Also, we must remember to acknowledge God
before we make life changing decisions. We have to trust that He knows best for our lives. The Bible
says it like this: Trust in the Lord with all

  • 2. Sample Letter For The Brochure Unit 12 Evaluation for the Brochure The aim of the brochure was to inform the tourists about the best places to visit Newcastle upon Tyne. I included information about Nightlife, Shopping, Entertainment and Food, which I included with useful information. I am not allowed to use the font style Arial and Times New Roman. Also, the other decisions, which were made will be specified whilst I am discussing the pages. After the initial client meeting and subsequent meetings for designs I began work on the CRC of the document. I will evaluate the layout and content of my brochure against the client brief and the questionnaire, which I gave the client to answer. The page layout for each page is A4. At first I divided the pages into three section, this made it more appealing and stand out. This is through including images, information and designing the page. The purpose of this is because I wanted to ensure the information and the sizes of the images fills the page. This is because I wanted to make it more different and appealing, which is significant. The information is placed in a rectangular or square box and it fits the whole A4 page. The purpose of this was to make it stand out, which would encourage the reader s to carry on reading the brochure. The point size of the texts varies this depends if it is the subheading, heading or body text and this is to make some information stand out more than others. For instance, make the heading stand out so the reader s are aware ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the age of four, he lost his father who was killed in a friendly sparring match with his younger Ko Bharbo. According to Dothraki tradition Bharbo succeeded Zinemmo as Khal. When this occurred Bharbo agreed to escort Ziffio s mother to Vas Dothrak but he demanded that Ziffio, at age four, swear an oath of allegiance to him as Khal. This was a surprising demand but all those in the Khalasar believe it was because Bharbo saw promise in their previous Khal s son and would one day make him a bloodrider or jaqqa rhan. Bharbo had a son, Drogo, who was three years younger than Ziffio. They grew up competing and challenging each other to be better warriors. As they grew and the Khal aged, the Khalasar believed that one day Drogo would succeed his father and appoint his friend Ko. Ziffio went against the advice and challenged his former friend in front of several other Khal s. Both Drogo and Khal Bharbo approved of the challenge as it is the Dothraki way to praise strength. But Khal Bharbo was not willing to let it be a fight to the death instead he set the fallowing terms; If Ziffio won then so be it, they would count the matter settled and he would be appointed to a position of his choosing, but if his actions betrayed the pledge of allegiance he took and would be punished accordingly, ... • 5. Howard Robard Hughes s Life Howard Robard Hughes was a very inventive, attention getting man. He was an out spoken entrepreneur who was best known for his hard work and dedication in motion pictures and the aviation industry. His inherited fortune gave him the opportunity to start building on his dreams at an early age. Although Howard remained in the news his entire life he was not always looked on favorably in the public s eye. In later years his paranoia left him a recluse and in twenty years he had not been seen or photographed by the public. Howard was born on Christmas Eve 1904, in Houston, Texas. A Marine sergeant pulled Hughes out of the plane, and he was rushed to Beverly Hills Emergency Hospital. He was given a fifty percent chance to live. As he suffered with serious head and back injuries, he became addicted to painkillers. Hughes was constantly self injecting morphine into his body. As the years passed he became irrationally paranoid. He surrounded himself with aides that he trusted; a group of seven Mormons which never left Howard s side, and insisted that any item handed to him be covered by a Kleenex. Hughes had many projects he worked on such as the Spruce Goose. It was the biggest plane ever built. With a wing span as long as a football field and room for six hundred plus passengers it was very famous. The Spruce Goose had eight seventeen foot propellers and the interior looked like the set of the old Time Tunnel, TV series. On November 2, 1945 in San Pedro Harbor the Spruce Goose flew but for only seventy yards. Hughes also built the world s first communications satellite. Bill Peach then told Rogo to increase these profits by 15%, which means to keep the plant open, he would need additional money. Rogo figured out the correct pricing so if material costs were 344 dollars per unit, and a 1,000 dollar sales price, an additional 208 units would be sufficient to reach the target and the factory would ultimately stay open and he would not lose his job and hundreds of workers would not be out of work ... • 7. Forms Of Government In Dracula By Bram Stoker There are many forms of government around the world. The United States is a democratic republic. North Korea is governed under an authoritarian dictatorship. Some countries are monarchies governed by hereditary rulers. But whether these are good forms of government depends on whether they achieve the purposes of government. For example, the Apostle Paul said that the purpose of government was to punish evildoers, or said another way, to secure the peace. (Romans 13:40) Another example is the US Constitution that says government has six purposes: to secure unity, justice, domestic tranquility, defense, general welfare and liberty. A strong defense protects the country from outside invaders, promotes a sense of well being within the country, and allows people the confidence to prosper. A vampire government would be able to defend its citizens from outside threats far better than any human form of government. Consider the characteristics that make vampires so good in battle as described by Professor Van Helsing in Bram Stoker s Dracula. He throws no shadow. He is as strong as 20 men; he is of cunning more than mortal, for his cunning be the growth of ages... He can transform himself into wolf... He can be as bat. He can come in mist which he can create... He can appear as elemental dust and become small. He can, when once he find his way, come out from anything or into anything, no matter how close it be bounce or fused up with fire... he can also see in the dark. ...he can, within his range, direct the elements: the storm, the fog, the thunder; he can command all the meaner things: the rat, and the owl, and the bat the moth, and the fox, and the wolf; he can grow and become small; and he can at times vanish and come unknown. (Bram Stoker s Dracula pg. 287). This quote shows directly just how powerful vampires can be in battle. No human army in the world would be a match for a vampire led army, much less an army of vampires. If a vampire became threatened he or she could just vanish into thin air, raise a storm to the detriment of his enemies, summon animals to assail for it, drown its enemies in water, burn its enemies with the snap of its fingers, or just simply attack them with his/her own hands. According to Count Dracula in Bram Stoker s Dracula, men of the Dracula blood were great leaders in battle and can boast a record that mushroom growths like the Hapsburgs and the Romanoffs can never reach. • 12. How Did Galilei Contribute To Physics Modern physics owes its beginning to Galileo, who was the first astronomer to use a telescope. By discovering four satellites of the planet Jupiter, he gave visual evidence that supported the Copernican theory (see astronomy). Galileo thus helped disprove much of the medieval thinking in science. Galileo Galilei, who is generally known only by his first name, was born in Pisa, Italy, on February 15, 1564. His family belonged to the nobility but was not rich. His father sent him to study medicine at the local university. Galileo, however, soon turned to a career in science. In 1583 Galileo discovered the law of the pendulum by watching a chandelier swing in the cathedral at Pisa. He timed it with his pulse and found that, whether it swung in a wide or a narrow arc, it always took the same time to complete an oscillation. He thus gave society the first reliable means of keeping time. A lecture on geometry kindled his interest in mathematics, and he got his father s consent to change his studies. Lack of money forced him to leave school in 1585, and he became a lecturer at the Academy of Florence. The next year he attracted attention with discoveries in hydrostatics. His work in dynamics won him an appointment as lecturer on mathematics at the University of Pisa in 1589. He soon made enemies with his arguments against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 14. The Evolution of Graphic Design When graphic design began, it was much simpler than it is today. Most people consider graphic design to be done only on computers and fancy operating systems, when in fact graphic design in much more complex than that. Graphic design has its roots in early caveman drawings using stone, organic paints and charcoal. Since these early humans had no to little verbal communication, logic dictates that they would have to communicate instead with a plethora of symbols and graphic representations of ideas. As time progressed, the methods of visual communication, as well as verbal communication, evolved. Materials in graphic design became more refined such as digital or traditional printing. Some of the milestones in graphic design were the invention of printing presses, text based design such as Typography, molds, and computers. As new technology made the expression and sharing of art possible, those who chose to create art formed new styles and ideas that also evolved. Artistic molds were one of the first revolutionary things to come about in graphic design. The molds allowed for the mass production of certain objects, letters, or shapes that would otherwise take several hours to even days to be created. Once the molds were created, they could then be used to replicate their shape by filing them with clay, stone, cement, ink and other artistic materials. The molds can be made in varying shapes and sizes, allowing for artists to create precise works from different templates. Molds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Asbestos and Its Effects on Human Health I. Introduction Asbestos refers to a group of minerals that take the form of thin crystal fibers. Asbestos has a history of being mined for its physical properties that made it well suited for use in the construction and automobile industries. There are six known types of asbestos that can be found in the environment, all with similar and different properties. These types are referred to as chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite tremolite, actinolite, and anthophyllite Scientific research in recent decades has revealed toxicity associated with exposure in all types. Numerous major health organizations have agreed on the carcinogenicity of the mineral leading to strict regulations of its use. The Greeks who discovered it referred to it as inextinguishable and indestructible. History reveals that Romans had used asbestos and made connections to exposure and health concerns. Large scale mining of the mineral began in the 1800s and was heavily used until recent decades. Around the beginning of the 1900s, serious medical exploration of asbestos began and started to become a well known job hazard. By the 1970s, long term effects of exposure were undeniable (Barbalace 2004). Since then, a significant decrease in the consumption of asbestos products has been seen, especially in the United States. Increased knowledge of the potential dangers of the mineral has lead people to fear asbestos creating a need for suitable alternatives (Toxicological 2001). Data derived ... Nordic Noir Heroine With the late 1990s noir women, international audiences were presented with a heroine who relies less on her sexual performance, and more on other abilities (Wager, 2005, p. 6). This heroine existed outside of the Production Code and shows more similarities with the revised Nordic Noir heroine. A vast majority of these late 1990s women were, even though she was less dependent on her sexuality, still rather attractive. Thus, even with their ability to triumph over the challenges they were exposed to, their sexuality remained appealing. They seem to have been specifically celebrated and enjoyed as females, including their pleasant aesthetics, instead of in a way overlooking the fact that the protagonist is a female e.g. depicted as indifferent ... These women do not resist the patriarchy and consequently survive the narrative whereas the femme fatale who fights against the male domination (both socially and economically) ends up losing her life or freedom (Wager, 2005, p. 4). Both her and the femme fatale remain bound by patriarchal culture and classic film noir clearly delineates the ambivalent nature of the choices available. The femme attrapée characteristics continue to exist in noir films today, however often set in the time period of classic noir (Wager, 2005, p. 4). They do not reflect the postfeminist existence that inhabits Nordic Noir, but moreover contradict, instead of revise, the Western culture. She seems to exist to show the contrast between her and the femme fatale and often it is the good girl that seems out of place, not the alluring and dangerous femme fatales. The femme attrapée conflicts most with female characters in Nordic Noir as she is a female character who is forced to give up, leaving a gap between desire and reality, whereas Nordic Noir s strong women, as seen with the femme fatale, refuse to give up no matter how hard the struggle may be. • 27. The Impact Of Maritime Technology On The Age Of Exploration Maritime Technology s Aid in the Age of Exploration The innovation of maritime technology has revolutionized travel throughout history. Prior to ships and sea travel, humans were separated by vast oceans and confined to their homeland for life. Because of these large boundaries, discoveries and inventions were only shared within land masses and trade as a whole was very limited. This uncharted, inaccessible territory caused a major separation of mankind. However, these oceans sparked curiosity and desire for explorers to venture beyond their native land. This curiosity was the driving force to the invention of naval travel, a highly important and massive step for all growing communities during the Age of Exploration. Maritime technology s advancements through history greatly aided in the Age of Exploration, allowing provinces to break their land boundaries and make monumental steps towards the advanced world humans populate today. People living the the 15th century had multiple reasons for venturing beyond its confinement of land. Scientific curiosity of the world played a major part in the advancement of naval travel, but it was not the main cause of exploration in these times. The Age of Exploration was sparked by Europeans wanting to find sea routes to East Asia, which they called the Indies. Merchants and crusaders were bringing goods to Europe from Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. These trade routes were controlled by the Muslims and the Italians. However, flaws ... In contrary to the partners or first and second tier customers which deliver to the final end customer are referred to as downstream (customer side). However, all partners are responsible of adding value to the end customer in each process they conduct, where the process can be explained as transforming inputs to outputs. (ibid.) Another term which is similar to supply chain is supply network, where both terms describe the objective of serving the end customer through the linkage of different partners. Harland et al.‟s 2001 study (cited in Harrison and van Hoek 2005, p.10) distinct the term network and chain as following: network as a complex structure of cross linkages between organizations, and chain as a simple step by step link of few organizations.
