The Role Of Nationality In The US
A nation state is accurately defined as a country established by or for the dominant cultural group or
nationality within its borders ( Nation State ). It is a state made by a national community and for a
national community. A multinational state on the other hand, is a well defined, existing state home to
two or more recognized nationalities ( Multinational State ). Each recognized nationality would have
its own defined territory within a state but would partake in politics as a cultural entity. When
considering recognized nationalities including English Americans, Latino Americans, African
Americans, and Asian Americans, the U.S. would then be considered as a multinational state because
citizens work cooperatively together for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the U.S., I believe that there are cultural groups which challenge the idea of a common American
culture. For instance, the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas is ubiquitously known for its
hate speech against LGBT people, Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Muslims, Jews, American soldiers,
and American politicians. Combating against many of the characteristics that U.S. citizens identify
with, this church sustains their life force by challenging the common American culture of working
together for the common good. The church has been denounced by prominent Baptist denominations
and other mainstream denominations have also condemned the actions of this church. The institution
refuses to work together with other organizations due to the major differing beliefs and values it full
heartedly supports in its mission statement. The result of their actions have served absolutely no good

Everything Is Left Unsaid, But Done The Land of the Free, Home of the Brave currently has a lot of
issues concerning economics, education, etc. However, it is not to forget how much pain and hurt
some people have to go through living in the United States because they are either black, natives or
even women. In both short stories Desiree s Baby by Kate Chopin and Country Lovers by Nadine
Gordimer, the authors show us the awful consequences of institutional racism and sexism through the
use of setting, characterization and simile. In the short story Desiree s Baby and Country Lovers ,
Chopin and Gordimer communicate how racial issues are so common and accepted in their respective
societies. Louisiana, one of the oldest state in the United States, is influenced by many important
people throughout the generations and these people happen to be white. Armand himself is very proud
of his family s history and his ancestors. The attachment he has toward his family name is astonishing.
Armand even feels like giving his family name to Desiree would be one of the greatest blessings:
What did it matter about a name when he could give her one of the oldest and proudest in Louisiana?
(Chopin 44). That is in fact one the causes why institutional racism is so common and accepted. The
admiration people have towards a prestigious family name only has advantages. It comes with respect,
status,

William Shakespeare s Beowulf Essay
Tuttle 1
Beowulf Unfit to be King of the Geats For 1000 years we have been reading of the adventures of
Beowulf, and his story was told for hundreds of years before. The tale is full of trials, tribulations,
adventure, great loss, great victory, and wonderful battles. But, what do we make of it? Is it a tale told
to illustrate the virtues of the epic hero himself, or is it a cautionary tale, told to warn the readers of the
dangers of allowing unqualified men (or women) to ascend to a position of leadership and the
inevitable results of such an event?
The author of Beowulf takes great care to describe the hero in detail, and we, as readers, learn about
his abundant courage and strength. We are taken on a tour through his early struggles, his successes
against the great monster Grendel and Grendel s mother, and his ultimate demise during his battle with
a dragon. But one needs to analyze the unstated theme in order to fully appreciate the effect that
Beowulf has had on readers for generations. Stanley Greenfield, in his article Beowulf and Epic
Tragedy writes that, in the end, For all of Beowulf s efforts, he is reaped only with useless gold, for a
nation soon to perish (104). This is representative of the core issue at hand in this epic. Beowulf is
unfit to be a great king, despite his physical prowess. Because of his early and continuing history of
foolishly taking unnecessary risks, his excessive pride and lack of humility, the diminishing quality of
his personal

The History of the Iphone
The History of the iPhone
By selling 8.8 million handsets in the first quarter of 2010, the Apple iPhone has become the most
widely sold mobile phone in the US. Read on to peep into the history of this fast selling device.
History and Development iPhone s history began when Steve Jobs instructed Apple Inc s top
engineers to investigate touch screens and create the iPhone. The development of this device started
nearly a decade before it came to the markets in 2007. In 1999, Apple acquired the rights to the
domain name iphone.org. Several years later the Apple chief announced that they were opting to
invest in advanced mobile handsets. Again in an interview in 2002, Steve Jobs mentioned that Apple

Criticism
The iPhone has been so well received device by the public because it provides innovative and
revolutionary technology. But this doesn t imply that it s immune to criticism. It has been openly
criticized by consumers and industry professionals for its poor battery life. The JD Power and
Associate consumer satisfaction survey gave Apple a low grade on battery life. In response, Apple
started replacing the malfunctioning batteries for free. Most recently, consumers have been
complaining about the iPhone s antenna problem. The metal bands surrounding the iPhone 4 also act
as antennas for reception. When the user grips the phone towards the bottom, it drops the signal. Steve
Jobs has responded to this problem by offering free bumper cases to iPhone 4 users.
Impact of the iPhone
The iPhone is the most innovative phone of all time. It s a trendsetter. Whenever a new iPhone model
hits the market, hundreds of buyers stand outside cellular stores waiting for hours to get their hands on
the device. It is a remarkable, all in one technological device geared towards the general public and it
is still hugely popular.

The Negative Effects Of Ocean Acidification
Ocean Acidification is an incredibly important topic that has not been addressed toughly by
mainstream media. It is causing ocean warming, mass extinction of fish species, coral bleaching,
phylogenic changes in ocean populations, and many more negative consequences. I did my senior
project on coral bleaching due to ocean acidification and there has been little new information on the
subject, in the public sector, since then. According to a study done in 2016 a strong link between
seawater pH and coral calcification is supported by data the pH of the coral calcifying fluid (CCF) is
elevated relative to the surrounding seawater pH, and that acidification of the surrounding seawater
causes a reduction in pH of the CCF (Edmunds et al., 2016). The Great Barrier Reef has been in crisis
for at least a couple decades because of severe coral bleaching and calcification. In the last couple
years, large sections of the reef have died because of changing environmental conditions. The situation
is similar in many of the coral reefs around the planet. Ocean Acidification will continue to have
monumental lasting negative effects on the environment unless drastic changes are made to the way
humanity is using our natural resources.
Ocean Acidification occurs when the ocean uptakes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and the
resulting chemical reactions make the water more acidic. According to the NOAA When carbon
dioxide (CO2) is absorbed by seawater, chemical reactions occur that

Inner Turmoil In Giovanni s Room By James Baldwin
David s Inner Turmoil in Giovanni s Room
When James Baldwin first presented the novel Giovanni s Room to his agent Helen Strauss, she told
him to burn it she feared the novel s open homosexual relationship would be unappealing to Baldwin s
audience and harm the book s success. This negative attitude towards the LGBT+ community made it
all the more important for Baldwin to publish his novel, which was unexpectedly praised for its prose
and its honesty (Polchin). Influenced early on by society s stereotypical views on men and sexuality,
David, the main character of Giovanni s Room, develops a mindset of homosexuality as wrong and
impure, despite being a gay man himself. He tries to reject his sexuality most palpably through a

When contemplating their relationship, David laments, I told her that I loved her . . . and I made
myself believe it. But I wonder if I had. I was thinking . . . of our nights in bed, of the peculiar
innocence . . . which had made [them] . . . so unrelated . . . to my life (5). Here, David acknowledges
his conscious efforts to convince himself that he loves Hella, implying that true love, on some level,
must be intuitive and natural. He begins to realize that the love he feels for her is not real; he only
enjoys the socially acceptable relationship that she offers. Their partnership requires no deeper
emotion than pure sexual desire, which is the kind of detached relationship he craves. Similarly, after
meeting Giovanni, David hopes to burn out, through Hella, [his] image of Giovanni and the reality of
his touch (122), yet when walking down Raspail, a street David has walked with both of them, the
face that [glows] insistently before [him is] not her face but [Giovanni s] (94). Hella provides a
distraction for David from his feelings for Giovanni, but David knows subconsciously that he loves
Giovanni much more genuinely and intimately. In referencing the reality of his touch, David
acquiesces the authenticity of his love for Giovanni, so different from the shallow relationship he has

Our Lady s role in the Ballad of the White Horse
1. Our Lady s role in the Ballad of the White Horse as portrayed in books I, II, and VII. King Alfred of
Wessex, ruler of southern England in ninth century, is the main character in G.K. Chesterton s
compelling poem, The Ballad of the White Horse. During a time when the pagan Danes threaten to
destroy the societal values Western Europeans had spent centuries building, Alfred, his chiefs, and his
Christian armies receive inspiration to continue the battle for Christendom from Our Lady. For though
Alfred and his armies strive to win the earthly battle with the Danes, they must also overcome the
spiritual battle: abandoning the attitudes of doubt and despair, in order that they might trust in God for

the nature on the island, which becomes more and more beautiful before his eyes. As she stands by the
river in the tall grass before him, Alfred observes that the very colors of her coat [are] better than good
news, and proceeds to question her on the outcome of his conflict with the Danes. Our Lady, however,
warns Alfred that Christians must not attempt to predict their future as the pagans do. In contrast,
those who are strengthened by the Blood of Christ are to whatever danger lies before them.
Furthermore, she gives him no optimistic view of the future, and, in fact, declares that the sky shall
grow darker yet, and the sea rise higher. And, although she gives him no hope of earthly victory, she
does remind him that the gates of heaven are open to all; that anyone can look forward to eternal
happiness with God. Henceforth, a newly transformed Alfred adopts a new attitude in place of the
sorrow and despair he encountered earlier. Now filled with unfounded joy and a faith in the absence of
hope, he is intent on winning the spiritual battle, even if he never defeats the Danes. Despair and

The Philosophy Of Science And Science
Before this class began, I thought of myself as a person who tended to lean towards science as fact
based and found it hard to believe in some philosophical and religious claims that were not backed up
by experimentation and evidence. Five weeks later, my views haven t changed drastically, but have
instead been developed and broadened. I now understand the importance of the philosophy of science
and why philosophy and science should be interconnected. The need to question things that may
appear to be factual is something I now consider more than ever crossed my mind before this course.
At the beginning of the course, starting in Lecture One, we discussed the problem of knowledge and
the nature of scientific knowledge. The problem of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examples like the theory of Plate Tectonics or the Alvarez Theory of mass extinction are cited as
examples of theory acceptance and when it is appropriate. The overarching theme from Losee is that
there are no rules that can objectively decide the acceptance or rejection of a new theory. This is a
confusing aspect of science, but is reflected in the history of scientific discoveries and those theories
we still hold to be true. Some theories are not necessarily confirmed, but are at the very least agreed
upon from empirical observations. By Lecture Four we covered multiple conceptions of method.
Method is central to the scientific enterprise. The founders of modern science were looking for an
impersonal, objective basis for their knowledge claims. This was coming at a time when science was
separating from religion based belief systems. Method is crucial to determining truth and developing
scientific hypotheses. Without a method in place, the goal of objectivity within science is
compromised. Method is discussed throughout the entirety of Losee s book. Losee generously
discusses theory acceptance, rejection, falsification, and replacement. He aims to show the method
behind these based on historical accounts in science, but as stated before, there is no set group of rules
that govern this. Instead the development of hypotheses and theories that we take are integrated,
comprehensive explanation of many facts. These hypotheses and

Making Sense Of Creativity And Conceptual Performance
Making sense of Creativity and Conceptual Performance
In this first summary paper I will focus on the article called Looking Inside the Fishbowl of Creativity:
Verbal and Behavioral Predictors of Creative Performance, written by John Ruscio, Dean M. Whitney,
and Teresa M. Amabile.
I will break this summary paper to three headings focused first on the preliminary of the research
based upon educated guesses by the researching authors, second the research conducted to answer the
questions pertaining to creativity and performance, then lastly with heading three, the outcomes of the
experiment.
What can we say before the test?
With any research, there has to be a hypothesis of the outcomes expected. Ruscio, Whitney, and

Additionally, personalities with stronger constitutions tend to adapt with more ease to take in account

Testing the question 1
The researchers, wanting to answer the question: Is there any correlation of motivation and creativity
so they came up with some tests to prove if their hypothesis was right. They first came up with a pre
test that asked over 151 college students who were volunteers, below the graduate level questions
related to how they formulate ideas pertaining to solving answers to their everyday lives, along with a
short consult. This is a troublesome task in itself because the person, or persons being tested on their
life questions could feel too embarrassed to answer the questions honestly, and falsify their answer
making it harder to formulate their research. Also, by have an inner dialog a certain type of question
can have an effect of the outcome because one has to take in account of what has been going on during
the assessment combining it all together whether the task was hard, easy, or the participant was just
not really interested. Another way that a test questioner can fail to gather the best information is if the
questions are not set up in categories to more formulate the hypothesis. Asking questions in related
areas can easily formulate the answers more quickly, easily, and can be more succinct. A way to limit
this anomaly is to ask the

d. Competition price and offerings analysis – For month to month membership pricing, price ranges

In 1853, Charles Loring Brace started the Free Foster Home Movement. Charles Loring Brace was a

children in New York sleeping on the streets, Brace devised a plan to accommodate them. He created
the Children s Aid Society to help impoverished children. Brace advertised looking for homes for

children should live in Christian homes in rural areas. In 1854, Brace created a placing out program
where he sent 46 boys to live with Christian farmers (Hansan, 2016). In large, our foster care system

This was the first federal agency to work only to improve the lives of children and families. Since its
establishment, the Children s Bureau has tackled many social welfare issues. Focusing primarily on
children and families, the Children s Bureau deals with a variety of issues including, Infant and
maternal death, child labor, family economic security, and foster care (Children s Bureau, 2017). The
children s Bureau is fundamental in many child welfare laws. For example, they helped instigate the
special juvenile delinquency project in the 1950s and in 1963 they helped the Senate enact child abuse

social welfare programs.
One of the major social issues the Children s Bureau helps is foster care. The Children s Bureau
provides funding to states and tribes to provide safe foster care placements for children and youth who
cannot remain in their homes (Children s Bureau, 2017). Working alongside Title IV E Care Program
and John H. Chafee Foster Care Independence Program, the Bureau provides for children under the
supervision of the state. The Bureau provides training to foster parents to help ensure competent
caregivers are in the system. Because children tend to be cycled in and out of foster care, the Bureau
created a Permanency Innovations Initiative. This federal program is targeted to promote permanent
homes for children with serious barriers

The Buddha And Its Effect On Life
Dukkha is a Pali word, which in basic or ordinary terms may be translated to meaning suffering,
dissatisfaction, pain, sorrow or misery. However, as the first of the four noble truths, which
symbolizes the Buddha s take on life, it has additional deeper, philosophical meanings such as:
imperfection, impermanence, emptiness, and insubstantiality (What the Buddha taught, 17).
Since Buddhism represents a more realistic and objective take on life, the term suffering, does not
necessarily indicate a pessimistic or depressing view of life. Rather, the Buddha is teaching that in life,
at one point or the other, we are bound to experience suffering or dissatisfaction, whether we choose to
acknowledge it or not. The Buddha does not deny that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This thirst is surrounded with passionate greed (nandiragasahagata), which comes in three forms:
namely: thirst for sense pleasures (kama tanha), which is a craving for things or objects that provide us
with pleasant feelings, thirst for existence and becoming (bhaa tanha), which is a craving to be
someone or something with a purpose or meaning that actually has an impact on others, a craving to
achieve ones goals, and lastly, thirst for non existence (self annihilation, vibhavatanha), which is a
craving to be detached or separated from things that cause pain or suffering (What the Buddha taught,
29).
The origin of Dukkha also comprises of other forms of cravings. This thirst is not only limited to
desiring or attaching ourselves to worldly things such as riches and fame but also desiring and
attaching ourselves to notions, philosophies, views, sentiments, concepts, and beliefs (dhamma tanha)
(What the Buddha taught, 29).
According to the Buddha, all the bad and unjust issues going on in the world at large, ranging from
family matters to huge wars, which destroy countries, is as a result of greed and selfish thirst. This
claim is very true especially in our world today. For example, the Second World War began because of
Adolf Hitler s greed. Also, we see many families, especially in the western parts of Africa divided as a
result of land issues. Each family member wants the bigger portion

Essay about John Keats s Ode to Indolence
John Keats has many memorable and distinct poems. He is well known for his ability to write and
adored by many. Ode on Indolence is a poem that can be relatable to its readers due to its idea of how
indolence interferes with life s opportunities, in particular the three mentioned in the poem, love,
ambition and poesy. Keats refers to these three figures as ghosts (51) therefore insinuating that they
once lived, but now they are mere figments of energy and air. Keats poem six stanzas of ten lines each

Keats identifies the three shadows in the third stanza labeling them as love, who was a maid, ambition,
pale and watchful and the last of the three shadows being poesy, which the speaker identifies as his
demon as well as his love. He also identifies them as maidens, each mild in their own way. Halfway
through the poem, the readers are shown three things that the speaker considers to be his maidens. He
shows his love individually for each of them as well as his dislike that they are there to take away his
peaceful summer, a metaphor that represents that warm weather is about to disappear, or that a
vacation is coming to an end.
The fourth stanza represents the speaker s sudden will for the maidens, as they were all he wanted,
until he decides on reasons as to why he may not need them. This only happens after the speaker
addresses that they faded, and, forsooth, I wanted wings! (31) He gives reason for love and ambition
to be given up on but cannot find a reason for poesy, as it is his favorite of the three. In the fifth stanza
the speaker understands that the figures have no influence on him and indolence is simply the way to
keep, he refers to them and says Oh shadows, twas a time to bid farewell! / Upon your skirts had
fallen no tears of mine (49 50). In the final

Erik Erikson s Theory Of Psychosocial Development Essay
Erik Erikson was born in Greman in 1902 1994, American psychoanalyst; known for psychosocial
theory of emotional development of human beings. His theory looks at the impact of parents and
society on personality development from childhood to adulthood. Erikson believes, each person has to
pass through a series of eight stages over there entire life cycle. I will look at the first 3 stages that
cover the childhood years. There are set of conflict at each stage, which allows individual to develop
each stage successfully. Each conflict can be handled in a proper means or inproper means that can
prevent progression for the indivdual to the next stage of there development.
Erik Erikson (1950, 1963) proposed a psychoanalytic theory of psychosocial development comprising
eight stages from infancy to adulthood. During each stage, the person experiences a psychosocial
crisis which could have a positive or negative outcome for personality He s ideas were greatly
influenced by development Frued. Freud s theory regarding the structure and detail map of
personality. Erikson was an ego psychologist. He emphasized the role of culture and society and the
conflicts that can take place within the ego itself, whereas Freud emphasized the conflict between who

Positive And Negative Aspects Of Tourism
Tourism is a pivotal part of human nature, it impacts humanity on a worldwide scale in our everyday
lives. It has become a ritual in the modern times, as the number of international tourists increase every
year. According to UNWTO, international tourists have gone up to a mind blowing 1.2 billion people
worldwide(UNWTO, n.d.). People who go on holidays to foreign nations experience a variety of new
encounters. They get exposed to the new cultures, different food, beautiful natural landscapes, and
new people. The host country love to attract tourists, because they make loads of money off of them.
Tourism helps globalise the world, it lets people see for themselves instead of just hearing about
someplace. On the other hand, the tourists are at risk of instances such as terrorist attacks. When
visitors come to a new nation, they love all the sightseeing there is to offer. A lot of the favourite
places of tourists include; wildlife, historical monuments, and natural landscapes. The revenue made
by the tourism industry in 2016 alone was more than 7.6 trillion U.S. dollars (Statista,n.d.).This essay

Narrative Essay About My Love Geklont
My Love Geklont Fluidly he speaks as words flow gently out of his mouth like crashing waves. Of
course! How could I not consider the intense passion our relationship exerts? Last week he was
pursuing his college life with nothing to propel him forward, when out of the blue an overwhelming
love appears. It would only be fair that he was given some time to inhale the emotional roller coaster
we experienced on our first date. In a short amount of time, the excitement that pulsed through my
veins caused my soul to tangle with his. One week was all it took to fall head over heels for a guy I
had just met. His undeniable honesty about his true feelings explains why he didn t feel good enough
emotionally to trek to the movies yesterday. Although it s hard for my jittering body to detach from the
warm feeling he provides me with, I understand that he is unable to call or text me while in recovery.
* This is the perfect way to satisfy my needs temporarily while he s gone. Logan will be at football

right? After gathering my supplies I park about a half a mile from his house and casually skip down
the street. Once I make my way through the window, I slip on my worn out, light yellow grubby
plastic gloves. Casually strolling into the kitchen, I pry open the fridge and the intense

How Boeing Changed the World
After five years under wraps, the future of commercial aviation is about to make its worldwide debut.
The global spotlight will be shining on The Boeing Co. July 8 (07 08 07) as it unveils its newest
passenger jet in 13 years: the 787 Dreamliner. It hasn t even flown yet and already the 787 is making
aviation history as the world s hottest selling and most technically advanced new commercial jet ever.
Not since Boeing ushered in the jet age with its 707 in 1954 has there been such hoopla over a new
passenger airplane. For the 787 the company s first all new jet since the 777 was unveiled in 1994
Boeing has rented an entire football field to simulcast the rollout, which will be emceed by
broadcaster Tom Brokaw.

This is a far cry from how Boeing used to make airplanes, says Hamilton.
The first few weeks of final assembly have not been smooth. Some of the jet s major structures were
delivered incomplete and fuselage sections didn t fit together properly. In addition, temporary
fasteners were being used to hold fuselage sections together because of an industry wide shortage of
permanent fasteners.
Boeing officials have acknowledged the problems and characterize them as hiccups in the production
process that are being resolved as soon as they crop up.
Company officials, however, are keeping a watchful eye on their international partners to ensure the
aircraft sections are delivered on time. Any more missteps or delays could end up in a disastrous
domino effect, forcing Boeing to postpone the 787 s first flight. Just last month, Vought Aircraft, one
of Boeing s major partners on the 787, fired a top executive because of production snafus and delays
on fuselage sections.
Mike Bair, head of the 787 program, told reporters recently that the production snafus have been
resolved and are typical for all new airplane programs. He denied a JP Morgan analyst s report that the
787 production schedule may slip four months, saying the program is still on schedule. We are where
we need to be, he told reporters.

He used oil paints, canvas and oil painting pens, the color of his oil painting are very heavy and bright,
making his pictures colorful and powerful. The difference is that Guan Zhong Wu uses ink to draw
abstract paintings. Ink is more diluted than oil paint because every time use ink painter need to put
water in it, making his abstract paintings looks more concise and have different feeling. However, as
long as painters understand this kind of painting, different painting tools will achieve different results.
According to Zheng(2008:30 32),in the study of painting, students need to know the history of the
development of painting tools, and the basic knowledge of how to use the painting tools, that will help
them to create their own paintings. In conclusion, it is important for the painter to understand and use
the appropriate drawing tools.
The point and line to plane (Kandinsky 1979:6) is the painting element, such as the letters that make
up the word, different combinations will have different effects. As Kandinsky (1979:12) has
demonstrated, that point, line and plane is the basic building material of the artwork itself, and that in
every different art the elements of art are certainly different. However, it is necessary to first
distinguish the basic elements from the other elements, no artwork does not have these artistic
elements. Therefore, the common feature between Wassily Kandinsky s paintings and Guan Zhong
Wu s paintings are point, line

How Isolation Affects The Behavior Of Different Animals
Different species occur when the genes in the animal mutate overtime. This changes the appearance
and the behaviour of the now slightly different animal. Eventually these traits will make them change
and evolve to their environment. This can happen when separation isolates them this also prevents the
different animals interbreeding. Eventually this isolates the two different species that were once one.
Isolation and separation can occur by geographical barriers such as oceans, rivers, mountain ranges or
climatic barriers like rainfall, temperature, sunlight, ocean currents. For example birds must have all
come from one set of the same breed. This means that budgerigars are related to eagles. They are only
different because of the environment and the amount of accessible food and water. For instance the
eagles are bigger than the budgies because eagles don t fly in flocks to make them self look big
however budgies do need to, to protect themselves. This is a survival trait that has developed and
evolved over the generations.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Counseling therapies are as diverse as the counselors who practice them and the clients who
experience them. Most counselors use a specific theory when working with their diverse clients.
Understanding and applying the appropriate therapy for each unique client in the counseling session is
imperative. Common theories include, person centered therapy, solution focused therapy, Adlerian
therapy, and cognitive behavior therapy. These theories can be applied when counseling, however they
do have their limitations. Specifically, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) contains methods that
can be used with all age groups because of its broad techniques such as, exception questions, the
miracle question, and scaling questions. This theory can be especially helpful when working with
college students. Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) has been in development since the early 1980
s, and has been described as a postmodern solution talk approach. Steve De Shazar and Insoo Kim
Berg developed SFBT at the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After marriage,
they continued to modify their research and brief therapy is used successfully today in psychotherapy
and coaching (Corey, 2017). SFBT is a goal directed, future focused, short term therapeutic approach.

Essay On No Exit Sartre
Jean Paul Sartre once wrote Man is condemned to be free. Condemned, because he did not create
himself, yet is nevertheless at liberty, and from the moment that he is thrown into this world he is
responsible for everything he does. (Existentialism is a Humanism 5). This idea that Sartre writes
about is connected to the principle of existentialism know as bad faith. Bad faith is when man does not
take responsibility for their action and denies the liberty they have had thrusted upon them. In his play,
No Exit Sartre utilizes his characters Estelle and Garcin to demonstrate this principle of bad faith. He
does this by showing how the characters self deceive themselves into believe they are something that
they are not and in doing so denying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She states, My brother was a very delicate child and needed all sorts of attention, so really that was the
right thing for me to do, don t you agree. (No Exit 16) this is an act of bad faith by Estelle because she
is making it seem as if she did not have a choice in marrying the man that was nearly three times her
age. Of course, this is not true because according to Sartre in Existentialism is a Humanism We have
neither behind us, nor before us in a luminous realm of values, any means of justification or excuse.
(Existentialism is a Humanism 5). Yet here Estelle is attempting to argue the exact opposite of Sartre s
statement by saying that it was the right thing for me to do because in existentialism there is no
inherent right or wrong only the choices that are made by each individual and by Estelle ignoring this
fact and making her life out to be like she had no choices due to her situation she is denying her
freedom and refusing to come to terms with the choices she has made. She then states that she then
found the true love of her life and that he asked her to run away with her but she refused. We later on
find out that this was also a lie by Estelle when we find out the real reason she is in hell with the two
others which is because she killed the baby she had with the man she claimed was the one she was
fated to love (No Exit 16) she did this by drowning the baby which is revealed when

Summary Of Coach Fitz Management Theory
The essay Coach Fitz Management Theory was written by Michael Lewis and the stories mentioned
were based on past and present comparisons. Most of the ideologies strictly informed that the process
is essential, and while Fitz talks about winning, it is the desire and not the victory that is important.
There are many examples that refer back to the different statements about winning versus the process.
Valuing the process towards a particular goal and perfecting that process will provide you with the
success desired. On the other hand, the ability to provide the process, which includes self motivation
and hard work necessary. The different writing techniques used to give off different perspectives for
the reader to understand. The essay mainly intended the reader to understand the level of entitlement
that parents have with a team and the goals/process that must be met in order to win.
The various approaches to coaching and how much authority parents had depending on how involved
they were. Transitions, such as closers or openers most of the paragraphs cause readers to be lost in
the in the wrong areas and a quick switch of the setting hurt the initial and long term meaning of the
essay.
A firm belief Coach Fitz has throughout the essay is to win. You know what I think about second
place? he said. Here s what I think about second place. And he slammed the trophy against the floor
(Lewis). This ultimately shows that winning and getting in the first place is a big part

of the most globalized countries in the world. Raffles, the adventurer in 1819, is still an iconic hero in
Singapore s social memory. This paper will interpret the founding of Singapore in 1819 as a result of

be a fateful step on Singapore s way of being an international big city.
Last by not least, the finding of Singapore also can be seen as the remaining effect of 14th century
trading emporium in Temasek (Singapore). Connecting the booming civilizations of Asia China, India
and Middle East, Melaka Strait s trades were greatly affected by those countries, and Temasek, as a
gateway of hinterland and a collection of various products, attracted most of businessmen to trade
here. With the growing trades between China, India and Southeast Asia and their friendly relationship
with it, Temasek as a main port established an emporium which can be an evidence of Singapore s
strategic location. In the meantime, China s huge demands on Singapore s main products hornbill

Singapore as a port can be described as a product of a good relationship and policy with main trading
countries. Similar situation happened in 1819. As main traders in Southeast Asia, British, or EIC, had

These boots move the forces caused by a fall to the knee rather than the ankle or lower leg. The ACL
injury usually occurs when the knee is forcefully twisted, or hyper extended. Many patients recall
hearing a loud pop when the ligament tears, and feel the knee give way. This injury has received a
great deal of attention from orthopedic surgeons over the past 15 years and very successful operations
to reconstruct the torn anterior cruciate ligament have been performed. The tearing oh the posterior
cruciate ligament is another sports related knee injury, though less common than the ACL. This injury
can occur when the knee is forcefully twisted or hyper extended, but other ligaments are usually
injured or torn, before the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is torn in these injuries. The most
common way for the PCL alone to be injured is from a direct blow to the front of the knee while the
knee is bent. If the tibia moves too far back the PCL can rupture. This is a common cause of injury to
the PCL during an automobile accident. As the automobile strikes another and stops suddenly, the
front passenger or driver slides forward. The bent knee hits the dashboard just below the kneecap. This
forces the tibia backward on the femur tearing the PCL. The same force can occur during a fall on the
bent knee, where the force of the fall on the tibia pushes it back

Amusing Ourselves To Death Neil Postman Analysis
In 1985, when Neil Postman penned, Amusing Ourselves to Death, CNN, and the twenty four hour

American culture after thirty some years (p. 100). Newscasters, preachers, and politicians had become

public persona and information on the news, in religion, and in politics creates a vaudeville

He was loved and highly respected by man Muslims. His battle for peace never ended and his message
from God continues to spread present day.
The Qur an was written over a period of twenty three years beginning on December 22 609 CE, and
concluding in 632. Muslims claim that Muhammad spoke the whole Quran to his followers and many
of them memorized the verses word by word and later wrote it down. The Qur an was divided into 114
chapters, called surah(s). These chapters are arranged according to length, which vary from 3 to 286
verses. The chapters of the Qur an also have a title that comes from a word that is written within the
text. However, some titles are not linked to the subject matter in each surah. The titles have names
such as The Cow (Surah 2), Noah (Surah 71), and The Most High (Surah 87). Each Sura contains an

  • 2. The Role Of Nationality In The US A nation state is accurately defined as a country established by or for the dominant cultural group or nationality within its borders ( Nation State ). It is a state made by a national community and for a national community. A multinational state on the other hand, is a well defined, existing state home to two or more recognized nationalities ( Multinational State ). Each recognized nationality would have its own defined territory within a state but would partake in politics as a cultural entity. When considering recognized nationalities including English Americans, Latino Americans, African Americans, and Asian Americans, the U.S. would then be considered as a multinational state because citizens work cooperatively together for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the U.S., I believe that there are cultural groups which challenge the idea of a common American culture. For instance, the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas is ubiquitously known for its hate speech against LGBT people, Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Muslims, Jews, American soldiers, and American politicians. Combating against many of the characteristics that U.S. citizens identify with, this church sustains their life force by challenging the common American culture of working together for the common good. The church has been denounced by prominent Baptist denominations and other mainstream denominations have also condemned the actions of this church. The institution refuses to work together with other organizations due to the major differing beliefs and values it full heartedly supports in its mission statement. The result of their actions have served absolutely no good for the American people as whole nor as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Poem Desiree s Baby And Country... Phylicia Graham Professor Karen Rhodes English 103 May 11th, 2015 Everything Is Left Unsaid, But Done The Land of the Free, Home of the Brave currently has a lot of issues concerning economics, education, etc. However, it is not to forget how much pain and hurt some people have to go through living in the United States because they are either black, natives or even women. In both short stories Desiree s Baby by Kate Chopin and Country Lovers by Nadine Gordimer, the authors show us the awful consequences of institutional racism and sexism through the use of setting, characterization and simile. In the short story Desiree s Baby and Country Lovers , Chopin and Gordimer communicate how racial issues are so common and accepted in their respective societies. Louisiana, one of the oldest state in the United States, is influenced by many important people throughout the generations and these people happen to be white. Armand himself is very proud of his family s history and his ancestors. The attachment he has toward his family name is astonishing. Armand even feels like giving his family name to Desiree would be one of the greatest blessings: What did it matter about a name when he could give her one of the oldest and proudest in Louisiana? (Chopin 44). That is in fact one the causes why institutional racism is so common and accepted. The admiration people have towards a prestigious family name only has advantages. It comes with respect, status, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. William Shakespeare s Beowulf Essay Tuttle 1 Beowulf Unfit to be King of the Geats For 1000 years we have been reading of the adventures of Beowulf, and his story was told for hundreds of years before. The tale is full of trials, tribulations, adventure, great loss, great victory, and wonderful battles. But, what do we make of it? Is it a tale told to illustrate the virtues of the epic hero himself, or is it a cautionary tale, told to warn the readers of the dangers of allowing unqualified men (or women) to ascend to a position of leadership and the inevitable results of such an event? The author of Beowulf takes great care to describe the hero in detail, and we, as readers, learn about his abundant courage and strength. We are taken on a tour through his early struggles, his successes against the great monster Grendel and Grendel s mother, and his ultimate demise during his battle with a dragon. But one needs to analyze the unstated theme in order to fully appreciate the effect that Beowulf has had on readers for generations. Stanley Greenfield, in his article Beowulf and Epic Tragedy writes that, in the end, For all of Beowulf s efforts, he is reaped only with useless gold, for a nation soon to perish (104). This is representative of the core issue at hand in this epic. Beowulf is unfit to be a great king, despite his physical prowess. Because of his early and continuing history of foolishly taking unnecessary risks, his excessive pride and lack of humility, the diminishing quality of his personal ... Read on to peep into the history of this fast selling device. History and Development iPhone s history began when Steve Jobs instructed Apple Inc s top engineers to investigate touch screens and create the iPhone. The development of this device started nearly a decade before it came to the markets in 2007. In 1999, Apple acquired the rights to the domain name iphone.org. Several years later the Apple chief announced that they were opting to invest in advanced mobile handsets. Criticism The iPhone has been so well received device by the public because it provides innovative and revolutionary technology. But this doesn t imply that it s immune to criticism. It has been openly criticized by consumers and industry professionals for its poor battery life. The JD Power and Associate consumer satisfaction survey gave Apple a low grade on battery life. In response, Apple started replacing the malfunctioning batteries for free. Most recently, consumers have been complaining about the iPhone s antenna problem. The metal bands surrounding the iPhone 4 also act as antennas for reception. When the user grips the phone towards the bottom, it drops the signal. Steve Jobs has responded to this problem by offering free bumper cases to iPhone 4 users. Impact of the iPhone The iPhone is the most innovative phone of all time. It s a trendsetter. Whenever a new iPhone model hits the market, hundreds of buyers stand outside cellular stores waiting for hours to get their hands on the device. It is a remarkable, all in one technological device geared towards the general public and it is still hugely popular. • 7. The Negative Effects Of Ocean Acidification Ocean Acidification is an incredibly important topic that has not been addressed toughly by mainstream media. It is causing ocean warming, mass extinction of fish species, coral bleaching, phylogenic changes in ocean populations, and many more negative consequences. I did my senior project on coral bleaching due to ocean acidification and there has been little new information on the subject, in the public sector, since then. According to a study done in 2016 a strong link between seawater pH and coral calcification is supported by data the pH of the coral calcifying fluid (CCF) is elevated relative to the surrounding seawater pH, and that acidification of the surrounding seawater causes a reduction in pH of the CCF (Edmunds et al., 2016). The Great Barrier Reef has been in crisis for at least a couple decades because of severe coral bleaching and calcification. In the last couple years, large sections of the reef have died because of changing environmental conditions. The situation is similar in many of the coral reefs around the planet. Ocean Acidification will continue to have monumental lasting negative effects on the environment unless drastic changes are made to the way humanity is using our natural resources. Ocean Acidification occurs when the ocean uptakes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and the resulting chemical reactions make the water more acidic. According to the NOAA When carbon dioxide (CO2) is absorbed by seawater, chemical reactions occur that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Inner Turmoil In Giovanni s Room By James Baldwin David s Inner Turmoil in Giovanni s Room When James Baldwin first presented the novel Giovanni s Room to his agent Helen Strauss, she told him to burn it she feared the novel s open homosexual relationship would be unappealing to Baldwin s audience and harm the book s success. This negative attitude towards the LGBT+ community made it all the more important for Baldwin to publish his novel, which was unexpectedly praised for its prose and its honesty (Polchin). Influenced early on by society s stereotypical views on men and sexuality, David, the main character of Giovanni s Room, develops a mindset of homosexuality as wrong and impure, despite being a gay man himself. He tries to reject his sexuality most palpably through a relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When contemplating their relationship, David laments, I told her that I loved her . . . and I made myself believe it. But I wonder if I had. I was thinking . . . of our nights in bed, of the peculiar innocence . . . which had made [them] . . . so unrelated . . . to my life (5). Here, David acknowledges his conscious efforts to convince himself that he loves Hella, implying that true love, on some level, must be intuitive and natural. He begins to realize that the love he feels for her is not real; he only enjoys the socially acceptable relationship that she offers. Their partnership requires no deeper emotion than pure sexual desire, which is the kind of detached relationship he craves. Similarly, after meeting Giovanni, David hopes to burn out, through Hella, [his] image of Giovanni and the reality of his touch (122), yet when walking down Raspail, a street David has walked with both of them, the face that [glows] insistently before [him is] not her face but [Giovanni s] (94). Hella provides a distraction for David from his feelings for Giovanni, but David knows subconsciously that he loves Giovanni much more genuinely and intimately. In referencing the reality of his touch, David acquiesces the authenticity of his love for Giovanni, so different from the shallow relationship he has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

King Alfred of Wessex, ruler of southern England in ninth century, is the main character in G.K. Chesterton s compelling poem, The Ballad of the White Horse. During a time when the pagan Danes threaten to destroy the societal values Western Europeans had spent centuries building, Alfred, his chiefs, and his Christian armies receive inspiration to continue the battle for Christendom from Our Lady. As she stands by the river in the tall grass before him, Alfred observes that the very colors of her coat [are] better than good news, and proceeds to question her on the outcome of his conflict with the Danes. Our Lady, however, warns Alfred that Christians must not attempt to predict their future as the pagans do. In contrast, those who are strengthened by the Blood of Christ are to whatever danger lies before them. Furthermore, she gives him no optimistic view of the future, and, in fact, declares that the sky shall grow darker yet, and the sea rise higher. And, although she gives him no hope of earthly victory, she does remind him that the gates of heaven are open to all; that anyone can look forward to eternal happiness with God. • 12. The Philosophy Of Science And Science Before this class began, I thought of myself as a person who tended to lean towards science as fact based and found it hard to believe in some philosophical and religious claims that were not backed up by experimentation and evidence. Five weeks later, my views haven t changed drastically, but have instead been developed and broadened. I now understand the importance of the philosophy of science and why philosophy and science should be interconnected. The need to question things that may appear to be factual is something I now consider more than ever crossed my mind before this course. At the beginning of the course, starting in Lecture One, we discussed the problem of knowledge and the nature of scientific knowledge. The problem of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Examples like the theory of Plate Tectonics or the Alvarez Theory of mass extinction are cited as examples of theory acceptance and when it is appropriate. The overarching theme from Losee is that there are no rules that can objectively decide the acceptance or rejection of a new theory. This is a confusing aspect of science, but is reflected in the history of scientific discoveries and those theories we still hold to be true. Some theories are not necessarily confirmed, but are at the very least agreed upon from empirical observations. By Lecture Four we covered multiple conceptions of method. Method is central to the scientific enterprise. The founders of modern science were looking for an impersonal, objective basis for their knowledge claims. How long have you been working with the college age population or in college settings? I ve been working with college students for a few years now. It all began at a training site before getting licensed. After getting licensed, I wanted to continue working with this population and have been doing it since then. 4. What is one of the main challenges when working with this population? Most of the people that come in for help are very overwhelmed. This makes them flaky, they are late, and/or they miss a lot of appointments. They also come up with excuses, not sure if this is logistical or if they get frightened in session. I m not really sure what the answer to that is. This seems to be a common pattern across the board. 5. What are some things you find rewarding when working with this population? For many of them, they have never been in therapy before; it is like a whole new world for them. A lot of these people have never asked for support. The various approaches to coaching and how much authority parents had depending on how involved they were. Transitions, such as closers or openers most of the paragraphs cause readers to be lost in the in the wrong areas and a quick switch of the setting hurt the initial and long term meaning of the essay. A firm belief Coach Fitz has throughout the essay is to win. You know what I think about second place? he said. Here s what I think about second place. Now, this small fishing village is named Singapore and became one of the most globalized countries in the world. Raffles, the adventurer in 1819, is still an iconic hero in Singapore s social memory. This paper will interpret the founding of Singapore in 1819 as a result of four main factors: Raffles ambition as a clerk of the East India Company, the Anglo Dutch competition, Malay policy and Temasek s revival as a trading emporium in 14th ... Without signing with signing with Raffles, Hengku Husian would probably have to continue to eke out a living on Pulau Penyengat, while without signing with Tengku Husian, Raffles would not get the opportunity to plan and run the small island and turned it into a significant port, and that turned out to be a fateful step on Singapore s way of being an international big city. Last by not least, the finding of Singapore also can be seen as the remaining effect of 14th century trading emporium in Temasek (Singapore). Connecting the booming civilizations of Asia China, India and Middle East, Melaka Strait s trades were greatly affected by those countries, and Temasek, as a gateway of hinterland and a collection of various products, attracted most of businessmen to trade here. With the growing trades between China, India and Southeast Asia and their friendly relationship with it, Temasek as a main port established an emporium which can be an evidence of Singapore s strategic location. In the meantime, China s huge demands on Singapore s main products hornbill casques, lakawood and cotton also brought Singapore great profits. In a degree, the success of Singapore as a port can be described as a product of a good relationship and policy with main trading countries. Similar situation happened in 1819. The ACL injury usually occurs when the knee is forcefully twisted, or hyper extended. Many patients recall hearing a loud pop when the ligament tears, and feel the knee give way. This injury has received a great deal of attention from orthopedic surgeons over the past 15 years and very successful operations to reconstruct the torn anterior cruciate ligament have been performed. The tearing oh the posterior cruciate ligament is another sports related knee injury, though less common than the ACL. This injury can occur when the knee is forcefully twisted or hyper extended, but other ligaments are usually injured or torn, before the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is torn in these injuries. The most common way for the PCL alone to be injured is from a direct blow to the front of the knee while the knee is bent. If the tibia moves too far back the PCL can rupture. This is a common cause of injury to the PCL during an automobile accident. As the automobile strikes another and stops suddenly, the front passenger or driver slides forward. The bent knee hits the dashboard just below the kneecap. This forces the tibia backward on the femur tearing the PCL.
