Facing The Changing Of Enterprise External Environment
Facing the changing of enterprise external environment, it asks for managers should stand at the
height of strategic management to makes an overall plan for the development of the enterprise. The
Balanced Scorecard (BSC) has great advantages in the link of enterprise strategy and performance
management. It covers strategic areas, and includes human resource management. However, it has
many shortages and theoretical defect.
Recent research (Rui Z and Ming J, 2001) argued that most research on performance evaluation tend
to be more attention the analysis of some traditional index in China. Although these traditional index
which involved in BSC can reflect historical outstanding achievement to some extent, but it can not
fully reflected the healthy situation for running and real reasons for developing. The new performance
measurement was designed on the basis of original BSC which will add some dimensions to improve
earning growth and promote enterprise long term stable development.
The range of most Haier research is very wide. China scholars explain the successful reasons from the
aspects of Haier culture, diversification and internationalization, incentive machine, interpretation
system (Meng L, 2001; Tao Ouyang 2005; Shaoju Shi, 2011). But in the same type of article, the
praise for Haier success is more than the rigorous academic research.
Xu Hang(2009) presented that one reason for Haier rapid growth is its culture and innovation, such as

Shooting An Elephant Analysis
Shooting an Elephant
Shooting an Elephant is a short story written by George Orwell that takes place in Burma. In this short
story George Orwell writes about a life experience he had while he was a young police officer in
Burma. Orwell did not enjoy his time in Burma because of the lack of connections he was able to
make with people there. He did not agree with the way they ran things, didn t get along with the
people, and had a great amount of hatred for his job. On top of Orwell disliking all of this, the people
in Burma made it obvious to him that they did not appreciate him either. While Orwell was at a soccer
game, he was purposely tripped and instead of anyone showing sympathy for him, everyone yelled out
with laughter. Orwell was having a tough time adjusting and badly wanted to get out of Burma.
However he was patiently waiting for a big moment he could take advantage of and get the people of
Burma to gain a little respect for him. Then one day his opportunity came. The opportunity in front of
him was as big as he could imagine. While I was reading this story, I was very engaged and was
always wondering what was going to happen next. There were many parts of this short story that
people could connect to. For example, Orwell was having a tough time adjusting to his new culture. I
personally do not connect to that, but I know that many other people in this world are able to connect
with Orwell s tough time adjusting. If the reader is able to connect to a story/book on a personal level,
it makes it a lot more enjoyable (easier) to read. Connecting to a story keeps a reader very engaged to
the book and makes them want to keep reading to see how the author/character handles their situation.
There was one big event in this story that I and in my opinion just about everybody should be able to
connect too. Towards the end of the short story, Orwell was faced with a tough decision. Orwell was
having a normal day, dreading but getting through his job, and all of a sudden something happened.
He had gotten word that an elephant had been loose around town ruining everything in its path and
even killing one civilian. Orwell was the first to the scene and initially did not know how to react.

Television and Its Imapact on Society Essay
Television and Its Imapact on Society
Introduction
Vladimir Kosma Zworykin created a rudimentary versionof the television in 1924; however, the first
realistically working television was made possible by Philo Taylor Farnsworth in the 1940s. These
televisions were exceptionally expensive, consequently only the affluent members of society had
access to them. It was only in 1960 beginning with the presidential election that the television became
fashionable to the common public. From that moment on, television has had an immense impact on
nearly every facet of our social order, from political affairs to child behavior. This paper will observe
some of the more remarkable proceedings and issues television has, and is still, ... Show more content

John F. Kennedy? Assassination
When John F. Kennedy was shot while parading in Dallas, the news media were recording. After he
was dead, they replayed the scene countless times for viewers in their homes. Then as that came to a
close, they began to see Ruby murder Oswald, the state funeral, a tiny boy solemnly salute his father?s
casket as it passed, and then finally the family light the Eternal Flame in Arlington National Cemetery.
These things would forever have an affect on America. The media?s role in John F. Kennedy?s death
transformed him, in the eyes of many, into a hero.
Presidential Campaigns
The surfacing of television media into presidential campaigns set unique guidelines for presidential
candidates. In some cases, performing well in front of a camera is the leading factor for candidates to
be selected. In addition to this, television participation destabilizes political parties, and influences
both the political agenda of the contender and voter turn out.
The mass media provides information about the qualification of candidates, and issues that will
confront the nation after one of those candidates assumes office. The information offered focuses on a
candidate?s personality, style, image, capacity, relation to the public, philosophy, and government
organization. Thus, presidents are elected based on how they are portrayed by

The Case Develops Around Newell s Ceo Dan Ferguson
The Newell Case

MBA 664: Satisfying Shareholders
Spring 2015 Evening
Professor Adam Guerrero, PhD.
Introduction
The case develops around Newell s CEO Dan Ferguson, the protagonist, as he purchases two key
acquisitions, the Calphalon company and the Rubbermaid company. Ferguson feels these acquisitions
will assist the company in reaching its goal of a market capitalization of $10 billion, which will allow
Newell to control a higher price per earnings multiple. The company s plan is to gain access to the
capital markets by aggressively adding new products by acquisition (Montgomery, 2005). The key to
this approach was a two part strategy, the acquisition process and guaranteeing company continuity
throughout the division to assist the company s in its market performance. Executives must balance a
company s growth with its ability to manage the growth (Raisch and Krogh, 2007).
Executive Summary
Newell focused its attention on acquiring manufacturing businesses that were under performing,
whether due to increased costs and poor operating margins of 10% or less. This allowed Newell to
acquire over 30 major companies in the following 20 years. These included businesses that
manufactured nonseasonal, low technology, non fashionable, and non cyclical items whose volume
rested on retailers shelves throughout the year. Immediately following the acquisition, the companies
experienced Newellization (Montgomery, 2005). The goal

The Twentieth Century In The 20th Century
The 20th century is the bloodiest century in history when we look at death tolls alone. The twentieth
century saw the Armenian genocide, Holodomor, and the Holocaust. The Holocaust was performed
very systematically and is one of the main reasons why people were murdered so systematically
during the twentieth century. This has been due to increase of technology, rise in authoritarian rule,
and increased industrialization. First, the increase in technology really helped increase death count
during genocides as the increase technology of weapons has been speeding up the process of
genocide, We can see this in the Einsatzgruppen, the Einsatzgruppen were killing units that would
follow the Wehrmacht in their advance and kill Jews and other ethnicities. They carried out mass
killings, mainly by shootings were the gun could kill the victim fast without much of a hassle. The
speed at which the Einsatzgruppen killed was indescribable as without the use of gun, it would have
taken a lot more time. However, the increase in technology also found something more effective than
bullets, gas. Zyklon B was used to great extent during WWII in Nazi gas chambers which were part of
the final solution. These gas chambers could run through tens of thousands of Jews in mere days
which is why it was the choice of the Nazis. These gas chambers horrified the world when they were
discovered as the scale of death they were used for was never seen before. The gas chambers are a
huge reason why so many

Shrek Cultural Value Essay
What significant cultural value or belief does the film convey? What is important about it?
Shrek conveys the idea of true love and appearances while putting a twist on the classic idea. It limits
the idea of finding a true love at first sight and the damsel must be saved by her true love, a knight in
shining armor. Rather, the damsel in distress is rather not a damsel in distress, but rather a superb
fighter who can handle herself well and does not need the help of a knight in shining armor. The
knight in shining armor happens to be an ogre in dirty armor he takes from the bodies of dead knights.
Throughout Shrek s quest to save Fiona, they are kept apart by the appearance of a princess and an
ogre. Shrek is an ogre who turns out to be the knight in shining armor for Fiona, a princess who is not
a damsel in distress.
The popular concept of a charming prince rescuing a beautiful princess is changed to an ogre rescuing
an ogre. Shrek pushes others away because he is an ogre and believes everybody judges him as such.
He explains to Donkey that ogres are like onions they have layers. He resists falling in love with Fiona
and does not show any affection at the beginning because he thinks there is no way a princess and an
ogre can be together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Shrek crashes through the roof of Fiona s room, Fiona pretends to play the damsel in distress who
is going to be woken up by her true love s kiss. From this, the viewers can tell Fiona is not actually a

However, when Monsieur Hood claims to have rescued her, she doesn t need to be rescued and
proceeds to pummel all of Monsieur Hood s squad, proving herself to be a princess who can handle
herself. Shrek and Donkey are shocked by this because of her appearance of being a

The Responsibility Of Abigail In The Crucible By Arthur...
I think it s the kind of events that replays itself throughout history when cultures come under stress.
When societies come under stress these kinds of things happen. People start looking around for
essentially human sacrifices. They start looking around for somebody they can blame... (Margaret
Atwood). Throughout time people have engaged in actions that they later regret and instead of taking
it upon themselves they have simply given someone else the responsibility of the blame. This lack of
blameless responsibility takes place within a character named Abigail in Arthur Miller s book, The
Crucible. Abigail is a person that her immediate reaction is to blame someone else for her actions.
Abigail, is there any other cause than you have told me, for your being discharged from Goody
Proctor s service?... Parris asked (Miller 1132). ...It s a bitter woman, a lying, cold, sniveling woman,
and I will not work for such a woman! Abigail replied (Miller 1132). Goody Proctor had suspicions of
her husband having an affair with Abigail and that is the real reason Abigail is no longer working for
the Proctors, but when Abigail was asked about the situation she of course made it seem as if it had
nothing to do with her and that she was innocent of any wrong doings. The situation that occurs with
Abigail is very similar to ones occurring today. An example from Psychology Today is that a student
gets caught cheating on a test and when he/she is caught cheating by the teacher, it

The Effect Of Bacterial And Fungal Presence On Bacterial...
Rationale and Background.
To date, the majority of microbiological study of soils have centered on bacterial and fungal presence
in the context of plant mutualism [Figure 2]. Additionally, analyses of microbial biomass have
typically utilized indirect models, such as change in soil carbon levels, as a measurement of microbial
growth dynamics (Holden and Treseder 2014). When emphasizing ecological roles of microbes as
nutrient cyclers, this is a useful methodology. However, it has led to a void in understanding of viral
significance in these systems as well as a lack of detailed species level identifications of bacterial and
viral communities prior to and after fire events. The few abundance assays completed regarding
bacteria in soil indicate that one gram of soil contains 108 to 109 bacteria and 109 to 1010 viruses
(Williamson 2005, Van Der Heijden et al. 2008). This incredibly high number necessitates additional
research, if only due to the fact that these organisms numerically overwhelm the system (Van Der
Heijden et al. 2008). It would be irresponsible to ignore such a significant portion of the environment
and attempt to come to ideal land management practices. It has become clear from even the broad
scale respiration and nutrient assays completed that bacterial and viral communities are not a
monolith; in different locations, phylogenetic community composition varies strongly (Williamson
2005, Goberna et al. 2015, Wang et al. 2015, Tas et al. 2014, Dooley and

Annotated Bibliography On Global Mobility Of Latin America...
A Guide to Global Mobility in Latin America and the United States
Introduction
For multinational organizations the global movement of employees is essential, but companies today
are faced with a maze of legal issues to consider. The following article provides a regional overview of
current trends, key government agencies, and visas for business travel, training and employment
assignments for the United States and certain countries in Latin America, including Argentina, Brazil,
Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela.
Immigration laws differ from country to country. Although the specific names for the visas and the
requirements differ, there are common patterns and trends especially for countries balancing the
interest of engaging in global commerce against protecting local labor markets and national security.
Treaties and bi lateral agreements often give special privileges to citizens from specific countries (e.g.,
benefits for citizens of Canada, Mexico and the United States under the North American Free Trade
Agreement). Be careful not to overlook these sometimes hidden gems when considering alternative
visa strategies.
Current Trends
It invariably takes longer than expected to secure all of the authorizations required before an employee
can travel abroad for business.
The best laid plans go often awry. Sometimes short term business travel may seem like the only way
to meet an immediate need. But the visas that are quickly available for such trips generally

Abstract
We are familiar with the problems that our environment face due to plastics, as these consumes
massive energy and other natural resources, depleting the environment in various ways. Moreover,
their disposal has always been a constant headache and problem for the society. But plastic s usage
can t be completely ostracized as it will result in depletion of other natural resources like paper, wood
at great extent. The light weight, cost effectiveness and strength of plastics can be put in to various
good uses. The softening point of plastic is achieved at about 160 degrees Celsius. These properties of
plastics will play a good role in construction of roads. The softened plastic can be laminated over hot
aggregates and can be used as an alternative to the very costly bitumen used as a binder in road
construction.
The main objective of this paper is to discuss the significance of plastic use in road construction in
terms of strength and cost reduction.

The great thing about them? They even work when the occasion is not so special either. Hand
someone a flower in any situation, and you re done. A flower isn t remotely awkward in any situation
provided you have the right one. And there are places that let you make the best of the choices you

Short Story A Good Man Is Hard To Find
In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find Flannery O Connor brings a family road trip to life
writing a tale of misfortune and adventure throughout travel. I can relate to her story based on the road
trips taken over the years with my family. While not one trip stands out in my mind, collectively
fragments of adventures across the states come to me. Growing up we would travel at least once a year
if not more, solely relying on the pavement as transportation we would take SUV s to the islands south
or take a bus to New York. With my three sisters, various animals, as well occasional grandparents
accompanying these journeys, morale tended to grow hectic. My parents although very kind, were
incredibly strict through the entirety of my adolescence, when my sisters and I would argue they
would shut it down almost immediately. Now when arguments are shut down without resolve they
typically fester, and so emotions would explode between the children. The back and forth bickering in
a good man is hard to find reminds me of petty arguments on late nights or days with little sleep and
even more driving. The short story A P written by John Updike reminds me of my first year of public
schooling. After completing homeschool my mother chose to place me into a charter school in
manatee county for my seventh grade year, school was very foreign to me along with the company it
brought. Throughout my years of homeschool we spent our time traveling from state to state, or we
were settled down. My first public school encounter was a dreadful yet fun year depending on the day,
I was often the subject of class ridicule among others. I excelled in very simple academics in
comparison to what my mother and grandmother taught me, with good grades came the offer of being
an exclusive member of the safety patrol. As the year went on the safety patrol were given referral
slips to pass out accordingly, mine was given often to a bully of a very beautiful face, reminding me of
Queenie. The short story Good People written by David Foster Wallace reminds me of a childhood
friend, Jessie Sherman. While we lived in arcadia, a cozy town due east of palmetto, we had very few
neighbors and the ones we did have were

I Am Pleased With My Leadership Style
Balance is something many leaders do not take into account when leading a group of people. Having
excellent leadership skills sometimes is not enough if a leader cannot effectively find a balance in their
leadership style. According to the assessment, my leadership style is a combination of procedural and
participative. Although these leadership styles are very different from one another, they are very fitting
to the type of leader that I am and that I aspire to be. A successful leader cannot be 100% strict and
controlling 24/7, this would lead to unhappy team members. However, allowing team members to
voice their opinions and regularly consulting with them can taken be taken as a sign of weakness.
Therefore, I am pleased with my leadership style results I consider them to be well balanced and great
sign of the leader I hope to become.
Assessment Results Although I am not surprised that the assessment described me as procedural and
participative, I am surprised they are classified as two separate l styles. I find the combination of the
two to be ideal, but analyzing each one separately allowed me to see the strengths and weaknesses of
each style. First, the procedural leadership style is a lot stricter and controlling while the participative
is a lot more flexible. The reason the results do not surprise me is because I can be strict and
controlling but I am also flexible and reasonable. Depending on the situation and the person I m
dealing with, I know when it is

Literary Features and Techniques This literary analysis is of 2 Samuel 24:1 25[1], which depicts a
literary plot. The main characters in the narrative are the Lord, David, Gad, Joab, and Araunah. The
characters in this chapter of the Bible come from categories ranging from a mixture of round, fully

David, realized it was his sin which was being poured out on his people, ached in his heart for the pain
he had brought upon his own people. In an effort to end the suffering, David asked the Lord to allow
the punishment to afflict only him and his father s household. The Lord once again sent the Prophet
Gad to David, who instructed him to build an altar on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
King David, complying promptly, purchased the threshing floor and oxen from Araunah the Jebusite,
built the altar, and made offerings to the Lord. At this point of the narrative the original conflict, which
was created as a result of David s pride and foolishness , was resolved with his contrition and
atonement to the Lord, and the action ends with the Lord responding to David s plea to spare his
people and averting the plague.
Interpretive Issue and Resolution One interpretive problem from the narrative is the census causing or
being considered such a great sin. The act of conducting a census should not have been sinful since it
was introduced to the people by the Lord and carried out three times by Moses. In the book of Exodus,
the Lord gave Moses instruction concerning the census. This instruction was played out in the book of
Numbers as the Lord directed Moses to take a census of all the congregation of the people of Israel[4].
In the first chapter the census was to be done by clan with the exception of the

The setting of this novel, The Chocolate War, by Robert Cormier, is set in trinity. Trinity is a school

a coward, but only at the start of the story as he becomes faced with trials. Jerrys weight is five foot
nine inches and his weight is one hundred forty five pounds. What the hell you want to play football

The second character is Archie Costello. In this story Archie also play an important role as the main

struggles with that. Don t you think i m human. (14). The third and final character is Brother Leon. In

dollar, and the Euro (Griffin Consulting Group, 2012). Although the economic landscape is changing
for Sony, the company has potential to grow through its reorganizing activities.
Problem Statement
Sony must reposition its growth driven and stable profit generator sectors in their markets to increase
its audience, achieve sales growth, profit expansion and maximization, and capture market shares.
Alternative Solutions
To regain some of its market share in its growth driven and stable profit generators sectors, Sony can
reposition its competition in the minds of consumers. For instance, Sony can use comparative
advertising to demonstrate that its brands are superior to its competitors. In this situation, Sony can
attempt to alter the portrayed image of its competitor, Nintendo, and position its PlayStation game
console as the better quality product (Positioning(marketing), n.d).
Sony can also differentiate themselves in the market by employing a consumer focused positioning
strategy. A consumer focused positioning strategy revolves around consumers. This strategy can be
tailor made to the audience by using social media, apps, and other online platforms to engage, access,
and directly communicate with consumers (Positioning(marketing), n.d.). Being consumer focused is

No Exit Sartre
Psychological suffering versus physical torture is one of the central themes in No Exit by French
playwright Jean Paul Sartre. Sartre s famous quote that hell is other people (45) is illustrated through
the interactions among Garcin, Inez and Estelle. Through psychological suffering the characters self
destructive flaws are revealed which ultimately emphasizes how each of them are responsible for their
own fate. The characters have the freedom of will to help redeem each other but choose not to. To
subtly reinforce the theme, even the style of the play is psychologically wearing on the audience.
Sartre uses terse, tense dialogue, and boring repetitive sentences, deliberately irritating the audience,
as shown in the quotations below. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sartre s self deterministic philosophy. Garcin s misery and suffering is caused by his self destructive

Essay On All My Pretty Ones By Anne Sexton
Crumbling under her myriad selves, Anne Sexton s poetry reveals through the journey of words the
labyrinthine setting that resides inside a disturbed mind. Intimate, almost with a sense, similar to that
of trespassing someone s private journals, her works bared her deepest and often darkest desires for
the world to read, scrutinize and often condemn. Poetry for her was a recluse, a momentary escape
route from her otherwise troubled mental state; keeping her more or less sane to survive the wild,
twisted world she built around her.
The genre of Confessional Poetry fit Sexton like a glove. She enrolled for workshops from Robert
Lowell at the Boston University and made close acquaintances with the likes of Sylvia Plath and
George Starbuck, meanwhile enhancing her only too verbally extrovert spirit. Over countless martinis
at the Ritz Carlton, the two women compared suicide attempts, discussed their mutual enchantment
with death, critiqued each other s work, and gossiped over drinks and free potato chips.*
While studying confessional poetry, it is of key importance to understand that these poems do not

Alluding perhaps in the same vein as Macduff in Shakespeare s tragedy, Macbeth, the collection
chronicles her coming to terms with the vicious circle of life and inevitability hovering over the living.
The twin deaths of Sexton s parents in 1959 (her mother s succeeded by her father s) led her to cling
on to writing for dear life. Her poems thinly conceal her feelings of bitterness towards them and thus
vividly capture the essence of the conflict between holding them responsible for desolating her and
lamenting their loss. Using it as a vehicle to transport herself from these worldly sufferings, she used
poetry as a defense, as a healing ointment to veil the scarring of her

The Theory Of Science And Architecture
Architecture can be related to anything such as society or science, society demands the building of
their dream and science made building possible. Science and architect share a mutual goal where both
intended to improve the society life style or in another word, to achieve community utopia. Science
and architect is one of the main elements to promote utopia and this really make the society to believe
that utopia exist. The future will be the combination of science and spirituality, and they should be
together forever. In fact, only when we successfully continue to improve our level of consciousness
and match the level of science and technology, human beings have a future. The future of humanity is
very unpredictable, science may change the world as they see fits such as no disease, no hunger or no
pain. Science can explain many problems, from the taste of the food to love, because love is the
product of science! Nowadays for the environment, sea level rises every year and many countries
started land reclamation to fix the problem such as Japan or Netherland. To face these problems, the
architect has made a lot of conceptual idea to accommodate future human life. Since then, conceptual
floating foundation design has been under development to adapt the environmental issue. It uses the
principle of buoyancy to support the design and the principle itself is discovered by the scientist,
which architect adapted this principle to the design.

Pepsi Of Coca Cola And Pepsi
As far as marketers are concerned, there are few American companies with marketing campaigns that
rival those of Coca Cola and Pepsi. The longevity and prosperity of these two competitors is enough
to inspire countless business to model their own companies after these icons. This paper will detail
some of the business aspects that have helped Coke and Pepsi to thrive, as well as considering what
mistakes have been made in their pursuit of success. Learning from the successes and failures of other
companies can help a new business to know which roads of marketing, expansion, etc. to explore and
which might best be avoided. One might first consider Coca Cola, a company which has been
trademarked since 1886. While the business has gone through many changes over the years, the Coca
Cola name has remained and is now recognizable around the world. Coca Cola is not only the name of
the company, which makes a variety of products including the soda that is its namesake. When it
comes to targeting the current consumer, Coca Cola finds that their product is most popular among the
older crowd (marketing considers as older anyone over age 35). (Turner). Some of the most valuable
brands in that particular demographic are Coca Cola, Microsoft, GE, IBM, Starbucks and Apple
(Turner). Part of the reason for Coke s longevity is due to the company becoming, over the years, an
icon of American History. Most members of the over 35 demographic possess fond memories of

Reheating Your Lobster Cakes
If you go out to dinner at a seafood restaurant and enjoy appetizers, a side salad or soup, and a main
entree, it is easy to come leave the restaurant with some leftovers. One of the biggest challenge when
it comes to leftovers though is how to make the food you are taking home taste as good as it did while
you were in the restaurant. Here is a guide to reheating your leftover seafood so it tastes just as
delicious as it did the first time.
Lobster Cakes
In order to get back the crispiness of your lobster cakes, you need to bake them in the oven. However,
you don t want to get the oven too hot. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and cook them for
about ten minutes. They should be steaming hot and returned to their original crispiness when you pull
them out of the oven.

Preheat your oven to 375. Then place the calamari strips on a baking sheet, and bake for about ten
minutes. Halfway through the baking cycle, you ll want to flip over the calamari to ensure that they

Coconut Shrimp
The process for reheating coconut shrimp is very similar to that of reheating the calamari strips.
Preheat the over to 375 degree Fahrenheit. The biggest difference is that you need to cook them for
about fifteen minutes instead of ten minutes. Be sure to flip them about halfway through the cooking
process to ensure that they are cooked on both sides.
Salmon
If you have some leftover salmon, you have a few reheating options. If the salmon is encrusted, such
as a salmon wellington dish, you ll want to bake it in the even at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about
fifteen minutes on a greased pan. This will give it enough time to warm up and will allow the crust to

Was The American Revolution Radical Or Radical
The American Revolution is typically looked at as a conservative movement, but it seems most of the
actions taken were very radical. They were fighting to defend their rights, governed and natural. The
American Revolution was as radical as any other revolution, in a special 18th century way, and this
seems to hold true while looking at the new waves of thinking. It involves the Whigs and Tories, and
while they are at opposite sides of the spectrum, they consecutively agreed to not address and higher
law principles so they would not have to rework their entire system.. The Revolution worked against
this, and the parties chose to pretend it was not a serious movement and act, as they believed it would
not take any effect. More people got involved and all aspects of life began to be questioned and
revolutionized. The Revolution seems to be radical in a more definitive way as it caused segregation

of radical. There has never been a revolution that has been born out of ideas alone and this time, it was
at least the beginning of seeing change. Starting with the Tories and Whigs reformation, carrying out
through the war and even the justice and social systems, the radicalism started growing and spreading.
There was still a long way to go and a huge separation between conservative and liberal views, but it

The changing lives is a transformational documentary about the lives of a few people on how they got
out of addiction. It shows the process through their very compelling group therapy. But most
importantly, what really caught me was the program for the women, that helped them with treatment
when they were at the verge of losing their children.
Body
The group therapy was very compelling to me. I really saw that they were helping one another to get
to the root of each other s problems, digging deep and peeling at the source. Some were very

result to injures or even death. In the power world, incidents occur daily, whether they are big or
small. And it is very important for any power plant to correct their mistakes and prevent them from
happening in the future. As the industrial disasters occur in our world, the world starts to develop
regulations and policies that must be followed before performing a power production plant. This essay
is going to present two major accidents that happened in the world, Three Mile Island Unit 2 and
Chernobyl, and how we can learn from their mistakes. Three Mille Island has two units, Unit one and
Unit two. Unit one, owned and operated by Exelon, built in Susquehanna River, intention of
producing power for the local people. It became operational in September 2, 1974. Three Mile Island
Unit 2, owned by First Energy Company of Akron, became an operational plant in 1978. Babcock and
Wilcox designed both Unit one and two of Three Mile Island, and build to be a pressurized water
reactor. After the accident at Three Mile Island Unit 2, the plant never opened back, even though no
major injuries occurred. Three Mile Island Unit 2, located near Harrisburg, PA, had an automatic
shutdown, even though the plant s efficiency level rated about 100 percent. On March 28, 1979, one of
the reactor pumps, used to supply cooling water, stopped operating, causing an automatic shutdown.

Disadvantages And Disadvantage Of Technology
Nowadays, technology takes over the world as penetrate through human life. The biggest effects
would be teenagers as they use technology more often. The technology impacts the family
environment, social relationships with people; health of people that do not have rational use of
technology, creativity, and focus.
The first reason will cause lack of communication with the people as electronic devices had replaced
the existence of human relationship bond. It caused teenagers to be isolated at home as they feel like
on the phone, as to an example, they can hear each other through a group chat. So, there is no need a
gathering event be created. When technology had become advanced, there are machines created like
treadmill and jogging bicycle. This allows the teenagers to become lazy to go out and instead they
exercise at home. On the other hand, it causes less interaction with people. Nowadays, most of the
parents are busy with their work and buying teenagers video games. This type of devices helps the
teenagers to have the feeling that their parents still care about them, but this actually pulls the distance
away between them. Their parents actually neglect them, and this causes them to consume more time
on playing the game. The times spending with family are lesser than the time of playing games.

Argumentative Essay On Jump Racing
The issue that has been discussed recently is horse jump racing, which is where the horses race across
the track jumping brush fences and sometimes ditches. This is an issue in sport because many horses
are having horrific falls and dying from participating in the event, which many people do not
understand. Some people think it is good for the community and some people disagree.
The argument for jump racing to continue is that many people think that horses that have died from
jump racing are purely freak accidents, that this could happen with any animal in any sport. The
people involved and that support the sport suggest that they know the risk, they make sure
organisations such as the RSPCA are involved to oversee the sport and that horses ... Show more

Statistics over many years have shown that jumps races are even more dangerous and harmful for
horses, with up to 20 times more fatalities than flat races (Horse Racing, 2017). Jump racing is also a
lot more demanding then flat races as they are longer, they also jump and run approximately the same
speed as flat races and the jockeys are required to be heavier. Many people have even bigger issues
with the training and well being of these horses. If normal race horses have bleeding in the lungs,
stuck in stalls for large periods of time, being over worked and given unnatural foods to improve their
performance, it must be the same or even worse for jump racing horses. Just recently at the Oakbank
Easter Races another horse was put down during the Somerled Hurdle race, almost the length of three
kilometers with hurdles throughout. At the last hurdle, the five year old gelding Wheeler Fortune
suffered a horrendous leg injury and was euthanized. This is the 17th horse to die just in SA alone

Companies and Advertising
Advertisements are made especially to grab the viewer s attention in any way possible. Many
companies use images to try and trigger their viewers emotions or facts to attempt to establish
credibility and get consumers to purchase their product or to grasp the message they are trying to get
across. Companies like Budweiser and Kleenex achieve their advertising goals by using ethos, pathos,
and logos.
The Lost Puppy Budweiser commercial did a very good job at reaching their viewers on an emotional
level. This advertisement started at a clydesdale farm, which is Budweiser s signature animal, with a
white lab puppy. Of course viewers are going to be captivated by the adorable lab pup. As the

viewers to look at their product as a family product that establishes unbreakable bonds. They use

The As A Tyrant Who Held A Reign Of Terror
There s always something watching over everyone, seeing the unprincipled and unscrupulous
mistakes, flaws, sins, and immorality. It s easy to try and escape judgment and punishment for one s
sins, but it will all come back to them in due time. Karma is prevalent in numerous religions and
candidly means good actions reap rewards, whereas malevolent actions result in future suffering and
problems. Historically speaking, there have been many cases where unscrupulous actions have come
back to bite. Maximilien de Robespierre became a tyrant who held a reign of terror , guillotining
extravagant amounts of people, many of them being innocent. Ironically enough he was killed via
guillotine. Diane de Poitiers held an affair with King Henry II of France for many years until his
death. Because of that she was sent into exile after Henry s death by his wife, Catherine de Medici.
Some may call these coincidences and whether one believes in karma or not does not matter, as there
are always consequences for one s actions. People can slowly lose themselves once they get caught up
in an aristocratic society filled with money, lust, and glory. In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald,
the eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg within the Valley of Ashes are symbolic as to how the characters
deteriorate in the wasteland of a society made up of gentry.

These needs were arranged in a pyramid where the lowest needs had to be met first before meeting the
highest needs. He divided these needs in seven categories where the lowest four comprised of the

Love can be shown by addressing students in a polite manner and helping them when they have

because this will be a violation of the rules. Sense of belonging is evident when students do things

(Griffin and Moorehead, Pg 93). Self Worth and Self Esteem Needs When people have met their needs
of love and belonging, they are motivated to look for self worth and self esteem needs. These needs
make a person feel important and esteemed. When people make fun of somebody, the person feels he

origins of the Constitution. Holton s purpose with this book was to show that the framers interests
involved making America more attractive to investors. In order to do so, they purposefully made the
government less democratic with the writing of the Constitution. However, with the addition of the
Bill of Rights, one could argue the Framers had at least a slight concern for the American people and
their civil liberties. In offering alternative interpretations of the origins of the Constitution, the author
accomplishes his secondary purpose, to make the reader challenge what they know about the framing
of the Constitution. Holton details the rebellion of the Unruly Americans against the state and national
governments, using Adonijah Mathews as an ultimate example of the common man. Mathews views
are presented in order to contrast the views of James Madison, whom it seems the author

The Political Ramifications Of The Operation Desert Storm
The political ramifications of this successful operation are still being seen today. Russia, the only
challenging power to the U.S. dominance across the world and especially the Middle East has just
recently started to challenge that hegemony as seen in its operations in Syria but the region is still
heavily influenced by U.S. foreign policy that was established during the operation Desert Storm. The
operation brought to the battlefield a new era of military technology. Majority of the battles were won
from the air (Operation Desert Storm, Evaluation of the Air Campaign, 1997). This aerial manner of
conducting warfare was highly effective because it was not only successful in terms of the damage
inflicted on the enemy, also it is said

The Effect of Education on Economic Growth
The Effect of Education on Economic Growth
Abstract
Education is one of the primary factors of development. Countries can t achieve economic
development without investment in human capital. Vocational training and higher education equip a
worker to perform certain jobs or functions .It improves the quality of their lives and leads to social
benefits to individuals and society like improving income distribution. Education increase people s
productivity and creativity and promotes entrepreneurship and technological advances. Technological
progress reflects the growth of human knowledge.

This function is not accurate because it doesn t take into account the quality or type of education an
individual has. Human capital is also an important variable in the variation wage function which is
hard to measure too. Human capital includes some feature such as education, work experience, and
health. To estimate human capital, scholars Suggested quantitative measures of quality include costs
per student, library expenditures, number of earned doctorates among Faculty and administrators, and
student faculty ratios. However, this estimation of human capital is not accurate too. Some scholars
argue pupil teacher ratio is alternative measure of resources invested in education which measure the
quantity of education but not the quality. Further more, some research didn t use the system approach
(input, throughputs, and output.) which made some scholar to believe it underestimate the effect of
education spending by failing to observe the possible indirect effect on economic growth. All these
inaccurate measures and disagreements make it difficult to compare the findings of empirical studies
to determine how strong the effect of investment in human capital to promote growth rates of the
economy, but macroeconomists in many research stressed the importance of education to promote
growth.
Theory and previous research
Many previous researches have asserted that education effect economic growth positively. The main

Interpretive Planning Paper
Interpretive planning is a process that identifies and describes significant visitor experiences in site
such as a park, forest, zoo or other resource based recreation area; and recommends ways to provide,
encourage, sustain, facilitate or otherwise assist those experiences (Harpers Ferry Center, 1998); thus,
interpretive planning teams seek to answer many questions concerning interpretive planning such as:
who, what, why, where, when, and how (Veverka Jone A., 1994; Harpers Ferry Center, 1998;
Department of Tourism, 2015), which include: Why objectives are important? Why is this area set
aside and made accessible to the public? What is the positioning of the tourism destination? What are
the likely and desired visitor experiences? (What will visitors want to do, feel, learn, experience; and
what does the agency hope they will do, learn, etc.?) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

are available, and what are needed? What are significant relationships between resources and visitors?
What are key issues? Who is the target? How can the agency make desirable experiences more
accessible to more visitors? (What are impediments to visitor enjoyment of significant area resources
and values? Should the agency match or redirect visitor s motivations and expectations? How can the
agency serve diverse audiences? And which technique suits the best?) How can the agency discourage
activities that are detrimental to resources or other visitors experiences, and promote activities that

The Design Strategy For Energy Efficient Buildings
In the past few decades, climate change has been an essential topic for the global citizens due to the
use of fossil fuel and other pollutions, which contribute an estimated 70% of the world s energy
related greenhouse gases (Jiang, W., Pitts, A. and Gao, Y., 2016). The design strategy for energy
efficient buildings is based on climate analysis, the main benchmark to define criteria design, in order
to reduce the usage of non renewable energy (Boeri, A. Longo, D.2010). Sustainability can be defined
as: the physical development and institutional operating practices that meet the needs of present users
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, particularly with
regard to use and waste of natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the variations of revolutionary designs and inventions. This essay discusses the importance of
sustainable architecture in relation to sustainable design, pioneering technology and the relationship
between them. In addition, the effect of sustainable architecture towards society and environment will
be given in order to give an all rounded research.

Colonial New England Ideologies And Religious Beliefs
Colonial New England ideologies were strictly religious in their puritan beliefs. Clergymen were
highly educated and forced religious practices in the name of being righteous and holy. Conformity to
religion was not considered a rational choice to those that were forced unto American soil and forced
to live a way of life so different than their own. Enslaved Africans brought with them their own
religious, marriage and funeral, and medicinal practices. These practices prompted radical puritans to
fear these religious traditions that were so unlike their own, condemning blacks and the various ways
they expressed hope in oppression. McMillan states, As blacks occupied the lowest rung within
society, their ability to survive the ordeals of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Creating original covert religious rituals and theologies. Many of the bewitching practices that have
been historically accurate refer to Caribbean religious practices and Haitian voodoo, which is still
prevalent in society today. Religious traditions associated with these general regions include
celebration of marriage and funerals, for example, parading the streets with livelihood to properly
bury a loved one. Today this is referred to as the second line funeral procession. White colonialists
also believed funeral processions to be an act that made blacks uncontrollable. As stated in Piersen s
1988 Notes, In 1721...Boston s selectmen limited the number of bells that could be tolled for Negro
funerals to one in order to cut down on attendance; and they ordered the funeral processions to stop
wending their way all over town and to take the most direct route to the grave. Well documented
manuscripts reveal a tell all of the black experience in colonial New England. This colony differed to
that of many others due to the simple fact that blacks were recognized and had legal rights.
Essentially, blacks were much better off in New England versus anywhere in the south. Denying
religious and moral traditional rights to blacks, white colonists still insisted that blacks followed a
Puritan moral code. With the inability to conform to the Puritan religion came a spike in witchcraft,

Leisure Time Is An Important Tool Of Social Control
Introduction
Leisure time itself can be defined in many ways. According to Cordes (2003), the meaning of leisure
varies among cultures and that there is little agreement about its meaning and implications... some see
leisure as freedom from work, while others view it as an important tool of social control or a symbol
of one s status . We have all experienced leisure in our lifetime. We have all taken part in activities we
deem fun, exciting, or relaxing. The purpose of reflecting upon the various ways we spend our free
time is to provide reflection upon our lives. Free time is valued, and by reflecting upon what we do
with our time can help us find insight on whether or not our free time is spent wisely. As I reflect upon
my life experience in relation to Nash s Paradigm of Free Time, I hope to gain more insight on how I
have been spending my free time. I expect to reflect upon the less productive times and make a change
on how to spend my free time better.
Injury to Society Injury to society includes delinquency and crime. When I was in high school, around
15 or 16 years old, I used to shoplift things from the store. While I did do these things out of boredom,
I had mostly stolen things for the monetary value. My leisure time was spent mostly at the mall, with
other friends who would steal as well. Eventually I did get caught, and fortunately I was let off with
just a warning. After that, I never stole again. The effect of me stealing as a teen has left an emotional

Facing The Changing Of Enterprise External Environment Facing the changing of enterprise external environment, it asks for managers should stand at the height of strategic management to makes an overall plan for the development of the enterprise. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) has great advantages in the link of enterprise strategy and performance management. It covers strategic areas, and includes human resource management. However, it has many shortages and theoretical defect. Recent research (Rui Z and Ming J, 2001) argued that most research on performance evaluation tend to be more attention the analysis of some traditional index in China. Although these traditional index which involved in BSC can reflect historical outstanding achievement to some extent, but it can not fully reflected the healthy situation for running and real reasons for developing. The new performance measurement was designed on the basis of original BSC which will add some dimensions to improve earning growth and promote enterprise long term stable development. The range of most Haier research is very wide. China scholars explain the successful reasons from the aspects of Haier culture, diversification and internationalization, incentive machine, interpretation system (Meng L, 2001; Tao Ouyang 2005; Shaoju Shi, 2011). But in the same type of article, the praise for Haier success is more than the rigorous academic research. • 3. Shooting An Elephant Analysis Shooting an Elephant Shooting an Elephant is a short story written by George Orwell that takes place in Burma. In this short story George Orwell writes about a life experience he had while he was a young police officer in Burma. Orwell did not enjoy his time in Burma because of the lack of connections he was able to make with people there. He did not agree with the way they ran things, didn t get along with the people, and had a great amount of hatred for his job. On top of Orwell disliking all of this, the people in Burma made it obvious to him that they did not appreciate him either. While Orwell was at a soccer game, he was purposely tripped and instead of anyone showing sympathy for him, everyone yelled out with laughter. Orwell was having a tough time adjusting and badly wanted to get out of Burma. However he was patiently waiting for a big moment he could take advantage of and get the people of Burma to gain a little respect for him. Then one day his opportunity came. The opportunity in front of him was as big as he could imagine. While I was reading this story, I was very engaged and was always wondering what was going to happen next. There were many parts of this short story that people could connect to. For example, Orwell was having a tough time adjusting to his new culture. I personally do not connect to that, but I know that many other people in this world are able to connect with Orwell s tough time adjusting. If the reader is able to connect to a story/book on a personal level, it makes it a lot more enjoyable (easier) to read. Connecting to a story keeps a reader very engaged to the book and makes them want to keep reading to see how the author/character handles their situation. There was one big event in this story that I and in my opinion just about everybody should be able to connect too. Towards the end of the short story, Orwell was faced with a tough decision. Orwell was having a normal day, dreading but getting through his job, and all of a sudden something happened. He had gotten word that an elephant had been loose around town ruining everything in its path and even killing one civilian. Orwell was the first to the scene and initially did not know how to react. Television and Its Imapact on Society Essay Television and Its Imapact on Society Introduction Vladimir Kosma Zworykin created a rudimentary versionof the television in 1924; however, the first realistically working television was made possible by Philo Taylor Farnsworth in the 1940s. These televisions were exceptionally expensive, consequently only the affluent members of society had access to them. It was only in 1960 beginning with the presidential election that the television became fashionable to the common public. From that moment on, television has had an immense impact on nearly every facet of our social order, from political affairs to child behavior. This paper will observe some of the more remarkable proceedings and issues television has, and is still, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John F. Kennedy? Assassination When John F. Kennedy was shot while parading in Dallas, the news media were recording. After he was dead, they replayed the scene countless times for viewers in their homes. Then as that came to a close, they began to see Ruby murder Oswald, the state funeral, a tiny boy solemnly salute his father?s casket as it passed, and then finally the family light the Eternal Flame in Arlington National Cemetery. These things would forever have an affect on America. The media?s role in John F. Kennedy?s death transformed him, in the eyes of many, into a hero. Presidential Campaigns The surfacing of television media into presidential campaigns set unique guidelines for presidential candidates. In some cases, performing well in front of a camera is the leading factor for candidates to be selected. In addition to this, television participation destabilizes political parties, and influences both the political agenda of the contender and voter turn out. The mass media provides information about the qualification of candidates, and issues that will confront the nation after one of those candidates assumes office. The information offered focuses on a candidate?s personality, style, image, capacity, relation to the public, philosophy, and government organization. • 5. The Case Develops Around Newell s Ceo Dan Ferguson The Newell Case Lionell C. Henderson Northwood University MBA 664: Satisfying Shareholders Spring 2015 Evening Professor Adam Guerrero, PhD. Introduction The case develops around Newell s CEO Dan Ferguson, the protagonist, as he purchases two key acquisitions, the Calphalon company and the Rubbermaid company. Ferguson feels these acquisitions will assist the company in reaching its goal of a market capitalization of $10 billion, which will allow Newell to control a higher price per earnings multiple. The company s plan is to gain access to the capital markets by aggressively adding new products by acquisition (Montgomery, 2005). The key to this approach was a two part strategy, the acquisition process and guaranteeing company continuity throughout the division to assist the company s in its market performance. Executives must balance a company s growth with its ability to manage the growth (Raisch and Krogh, 2007). Executive Summary Newell focused its attention on acquiring manufacturing businesses that were under performing, whether due to increased costs and poor operating margins of 10% or less. This allowed Newell to acquire over 30 major companies in the following 20 years. These included businesses that manufactured nonseasonal, low technology, non fashionable, and non cyclical items whose volume rested on retailers shelves throughout the year. Immediately following the acquisition, the companies experienced Newellization (Montgomery, 2005). The goal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Twentieth Century In The 20th Century The 20th century is the bloodiest century in history when we look at death tolls alone. The twentieth century saw the Armenian genocide, Holodomor, and the Holocaust. The Holocaust was performed very systematically and is one of the main reasons why people were murdered so systematically during the twentieth century. This has been due to increase of technology, rise in authoritarian rule, and increased industrialization. First, the increase in technology really helped increase death count during genocides as the increase technology of weapons has been speeding up the process of genocide, We can see this in the Einsatzgruppen, the Einsatzgruppen were killing units that would follow the Wehrmacht in their advance and kill Jews and other ethnicities. They carried out mass killings, mainly by shootings were the gun could kill the victim fast without much of a hassle. The speed at which the Einsatzgruppen killed was indescribable as without the use of gun, it would have taken a lot more time. However, the increase in technology also found something more effective than bullets, gas. Zyklon B was used to great extent during WWII in Nazi gas chambers which were part of the final solution. These gas chambers could run through tens of thousands of Jews in mere days which is why it was the choice of the Nazis. These gas chambers horrified the world when they were discovered as the scale of death they were used for was never seen before. The gas chambers are a huge reason why so many ... • 7. Shrek Cultural Value Essay What significant cultural value or belief does the film convey? What is important about it? Shrek conveys the idea of true love and appearances while putting a twist on the classic idea. It limits the idea of finding a true love at first sight and the damsel must be saved by her true love, a knight in shining armor. Rather, the damsel in distress is rather not a damsel in distress, but rather a superb fighter who can handle herself well and does not need the help of a knight in shining armor. The knight in shining armor happens to be an ogre in dirty armor he takes from the bodies of dead knights. Throughout Shrek s quest to save Fiona, they are kept apart by the appearance of a princess and an ogre. Shrek is an ogre who turns out to be the knight in shining armor for Fiona, a princess who is not a damsel in distress. The popular concept of a charming prince rescuing a beautiful princess is changed to an ogre rescuing an ogre. Shrek pushes others away because he is an ogre and believes everybody judges him as such. He explains to Donkey that ogres are like onions they have layers. He resists falling in love with Fiona and does not show any affection at the beginning because he thinks there is no way a princess and an ogre can be together. ... • 8. The Responsibility Of Abigail In The Crucible By Arthur... I think it s the kind of events that replays itself throughout history when cultures come under stress. When societies come under stress these kinds of things happen. People start looking around for essentially human sacrifices. They start looking around for somebody they can blame... (Margaret Atwood). Throughout time people have engaged in actions that they later regret and instead of taking it upon themselves they have simply given someone else the responsibility of the blame. This lack of blameless responsibility takes place within a character named Abigail in Arthur Miller s book, The Crucible. Abigail is a person that her immediate reaction is to blame someone else for her actions. Abigail, is there any other cause than you have told me, for your being discharged from Goody Proctor s service?... Parris asked (Miller 1132). ...It s a bitter woman, a lying, cold, sniveling woman, and I will not work for such a woman! Abigail replied (Miller 1132). Goody Proctor had suspicions of her husband having an affair with Abigail and that is the real reason Abigail is no longer working for the Proctors, but when Abigail was asked about the situation she of course made it seem as if it had nothing to do with her and that she was innocent of any wrong doings. The situation that occurs with Abigail is very similar to ones occurring today. • 9. The Effect Of Bacterial And Fungal Presence On Bacterial... Rationale and Background. To date, the majority of microbiological study of soils have centered on bacterial and fungal presence in the context of plant mutualism [Figure 2]. Additionally, analyses of microbial biomass have typically utilized indirect models, such as change in soil carbon levels, as a measurement of microbial growth dynamics (Holden and Treseder 2014). When emphasizing ecological roles of microbes as nutrient cyclers, this is a useful methodology. However, it has led to a void in understanding of viral significance in these systems as well as a lack of detailed species level identifications of bacterial and viral communities prior to and after fire events. The few abundance assays completed regarding bacteria in soil indicate that one gram of soil contains 108 to 109 bacteria and 109 to 1010 viruses (Williamson 2005, Van Der Heijden et al. 2008). This incredibly high number necessitates additional research, if only due to the fact that these organisms numerically overwhelm the system (Van Der Heijden et al. 2008). It would be irresponsible to ignore such a significant portion of the environment and attempt to come to ideal land management practices. It has become clear from even the broad scale respiration and nutrient assays completed that bacterial and viral communities are not a monolith; in different locations, phylogenetic community composition varies strongly (Williamson 2005, Goberna et al. 2015, Wang et al. 2015, Tas et al. 2014, Dooley and ... A Guide to Global Mobility in Latin America and the United States Introduction For multinational organizations the global movement of employees is essential, but companies today are faced with a maze of legal issues to consider. The following article provides a regional overview of current trends, key government agencies, and visas for business travel, training and employment assignments for the United States and certain countries in Latin America, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela. Immigration laws differ from country to country. Although the specific names for the visas and the requirements differ, there are common patterns and trends especially for countries balancing the interest of engaging in global commerce against protecting local labor markets and national security. Treaties and bi lateral agreements often give special privileges to citizens from specific countries (e.g., benefits for citizens of Canada, Mexico and the United States under the North American Free Trade Agreement). Be careful not to overlook these sometimes hidden gems when considering alternative visa strategies. Current Trends It invariably takes longer than expected to secure all of the authorizations required before an employee can travel abroad for business. The best laid plans go often awry. Sometimes short term business travel may seem like the only way to meet an immediate need. But the visas that are quickly available for such trips generally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Short Story A Good Man Is Hard To Find In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find Flannery O Connor brings a family road trip to life writing a tale of misfortune and adventure throughout travel. I can relate to her story based on the road trips taken over the years with my family. While not one trip stands out in my mind, collectively fragments of adventures across the states come to me. Growing up we would travel at least once a year if not more, solely relying on the pavement as transportation we would take SUV s to the islands south or take a bus to New York. With my three sisters, various animals, as well occasional grandparents accompanying these journeys, morale tended to grow hectic. My parents although very kind, were incredibly strict through the entirety of my adolescence, when my sisters and I would argue they would shut it down almost immediately. Now when arguments are shut down without resolve they typically fester, and so emotions would explode between the children. The back and forth bickering in a good man is hard to find reminds me of petty arguments on late nights or days with little sleep and even more driving. The short story A P written by John Updike reminds me of my first year of public schooling. After completing homeschool my mother chose to place me into a charter school in manatee county for my seventh grade year, school was very foreign to me along with the company it brought. Throughout my years of homeschool we spent our time traveling from state to state, or we were settled down. My first public school encounter was a dreadful yet fun year depending on the day, I was often the subject of class ridicule among others. I excelled in very simple academics in comparison to what my mother and grandmother taught me, with good grades came the offer of being an exclusive member of the safety patrol. As the year went on the safety patrol were given referral slips to pass out accordingly, mine was given often to a bully of a very beautiful face, reminding me of Queenie. • 16. I Am Pleased With My Leadership Style Balance is something many leaders do not take into account when leading a group of people. Having excellent leadership skills sometimes is not enough if a leader cannot effectively find a balance in their leadership style. According to the assessment, my leadership style is a combination of procedural and participative. Although these leadership styles are very different from one another, they are very fitting to the type of leader that I am and that I aspire to be. A successful leader cannot be 100% strict and controlling 24/7, this would lead to unhappy team members. However, allowing team members to voice their opinions and regularly consulting with them can taken be taken as a sign of weakness. Therefore, I am pleased with my leadership style results I consider them to be well balanced and great sign of the leader I hope to become. Assessment Results Although I am not surprised that the assessment described me as procedural and participative, I am surprised they are classified as two separate l styles. I find the combination of the two to be ideal, but analyzing each one separately allowed me to see the strengths and weaknesses of each style. First, the procedural leadership style is a lot stricter and controlling while the participative is a lot more flexible. The Lord once again sent the Prophet Gad to David, who instructed him to build an altar on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite. King David, complying promptly, purchased the threshing floor and oxen from Araunah the Jebusite, built the altar, and made offerings to the Lord. At this point of the narrative the original conflict, which was created as a result of David s pride and foolishness , was resolved with his contrition and atonement to the Lord, and the action ends with the Lord responding to David s plea to spare his people and averting the plague. Interpretive Issue and Resolution One interpretive problem from the narrative is the census causing or being considered such a great sin. The act of conducting a census should not have been sinful since it was introduced to the people by the Lord and carried out three times by Moses. In the book of Exodus, the Lord gave Moses instruction concerning the census. Sartre s famous quote that hell is other people (45) is illustrated through the interactions among Garcin, Inez and Estelle. Through psychological suffering the characters self destructive flaws are revealed which ultimately emphasizes how each of them are responsible for their own fate. The characters have the freedom of will to help redeem each other but choose not to. To subtly reinforce the theme, even the style of the play is psychologically wearing on the audience. Sartre uses terse, tense dialogue, and boring repetitive sentences, deliberately irritating the audience, as shown in the quotations below. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Garcin s misery and suffering is caused by his self destructive cowardice and cruelty, leading to his desertion and abuse of his wife. • 21. Essay On All My Pretty Ones By Anne Sexton Crumbling under her myriad selves, Anne Sexton s poetry reveals through the journey of words the labyrinthine setting that resides inside a disturbed mind. Intimate, almost with a sense, similar to that of trespassing someone s private journals, her works bared her deepest and often darkest desires for the world to read, scrutinize and often condemn. Poetry for her was a recluse, a momentary escape route from her otherwise troubled mental state; keeping her more or less sane to survive the wild, twisted world she built around her. The genre of Confessional Poetry fit Sexton like a glove. She enrolled for workshops from Robert Lowell at the Boston University and made close acquaintances with the likes of Sylvia Plath and George Starbuck, meanwhile enhancing her only too verbally extrovert spirit. Over countless martinis at the Ritz Carlton, the two women compared suicide attempts, discussed their mutual enchantment with death, critiqued each other s work, and gossiped over drinks and free potato chips.* While studying confessional poetry, it is of key importance to understand that these poems do not intend to ... Her poems thinly conceal her feelings of bitterness towards them and thus vividly capture the essence of the conflict between holding them responsible for desolating her and lamenting their loss. To avoid a one sided book, the author not only looks at the framers intent, but the struggles facing the American people. This book emphasizes the alternative interpretations offered by Americans on the origins of the Constitution. Holton s purpose with this book was to show that the framers interests involved making America more attractive to investors. In order to do so, they purposefully made the government less democratic with the writing of the Constitution. However, with the addition of the Bill of Rights, one could argue the Framers had at least a slight concern for the American people and their civil liberties. In offering alternative interpretations of the origins of the Constitution, the author accomplishes his secondary purpose, to make the reader challenge what they know about the framing of the Constitution. Holton details the rebellion of the Unruly Americans against the state and national governments, using Adonijah Mathews as an ultimate example of the common man. Mathews views are presented in order to contrast the views of James Madison, whom it seems the author ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Political Ramifications Of The Operation Desert Storm The political ramifications of this successful operation are still being seen today. Russia, the only challenging power to the U.S. dominance across the world and especially the Middle East has just recently started to challenge that hegemony as seen in its operations in Syria but the region is still heavily influenced by U.S. foreign policy that was established during the operation Desert Storm. The operation brought to the battlefield a new era of military technology. Majority of the battles were won from the air (Operation Desert Storm, Evaluation of the Air Campaign, 1997). This aerial manner of conducting warfare was highly effective because it was not only successful in terms of the damage inflicted on the enemy, also it is said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This function is not accurate because it doesn t take into account the quality or type of education an individual has. Human capital is also an important variable in the variation wage function which is hard to measure too. Human capital includes some feature such as education, work experience, and health. To estimate human capital, scholars Suggested quantitative measures of quality include costs per student, library expenditures, number of earned doctorates among Faculty and administrators, and student faculty ratios. However, this estimation of human capital is not accurate too. Some scholars argue pupil teacher ratio is alternative measure of resources invested in education which measure the quantity of education but not the quality. Further more, some research didn t use the system approach (input, throughputs, and output.) which made some scholar to believe it underestimate the effect of education spending by failing to observe the possible indirect effect on economic growth. All these inaccurate measures and disagreements make it difficult to compare the findings of empirical studies to determine how strong the effect of investment in human capital to promote growth rates of the economy, but macroeconomists in many research stressed the importance of education to promote growth. Interpretive Planning Paper Interpretive planning is a process that identifies and describes significant visitor experiences in site such as a park, forest, zoo or other resource based recreation area; and recommends ways to provide, encourage, sustain, facilitate or otherwise assist those experiences (Harpers Ferry Center, 1998); thus, interpretive planning teams seek to answer many questions concerning interpretive planning such as: who, what, why, where, when, and how (Veverka Jone A., 1994; Harpers Ferry Center, 1998; Department of Tourism, 2015), which include: Why objectives are important? Why is this area set aside and made accessible to the public? What is the positioning of the tourism destination? What are the likely and desired visitor experiences? • 46. The Design Strategy For Energy Efficient Buildings In the past few decades, climate change has been an essential topic for the global citizens due to the use of fossil fuel and other pollutions, which contribute an estimated 70% of the world s energy related greenhouse gases (Jiang, W., Pitts, A. and Gao, Y., 2016). The design strategy for energy efficient buildings is based on climate analysis, the main benchmark to define criteria design, in order to reduce the usage of non renewable energy (Boeri, A. Longo, D.2010). Sustainability can be defined as: the physical development and institutional operating practices that meet the needs of present users without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, particularly with regard to use and waste of natural ... • 47. Colonial New England Ideologies And Religious Beliefs Colonial New England ideologies were strictly religious in their puritan beliefs. Clergymen were highly educated and forced religious practices in the name of being righteous and holy. Conformity to religion was not considered a rational choice to those that were forced unto American soil and forced to live a way of life so different than their own. Enslaved Africans brought with them their own religious, marriage and funeral, and medicinal practices. These practices prompted radical puritans to fear these religious traditions that were so unlike their own, condemning blacks and the various ways they expressed hope in oppression. Creating original covert religious rituals and theologies. Many of the bewitching practices that have been historically accurate refer to Caribbean religious practices and Haitian voodoo, which is still prevalent in society today. Religious traditions associated with these general regions include celebration of marriage and funerals, for example, parading the streets with livelihood to properly bury a loved one. Today this is referred to as the second line funeral procession. White colonialists also believed funeral processions to be an act that made blacks uncontrollable. As stated in Piersen s 1988 Notes, In 1721...Boston s selectmen limited the number of bells that could be tolled for Negro funerals to one in order to cut down on attendance; and they ordered the funeral processions to stop wending their way all over town and to take the most direct route to the grave. Well documented manuscripts reveal a tell all of the black experience in colonial New England. This colony differed to that of many others due to the simple fact that blacks were recognized and had legal rights. Essentially, blacks were much better off in New England versus anywhere in the south. Denying religious and moral traditional rights to blacks, white colonists still insisted that blacks followed a Puritan moral code. • 48. Leisure Time Is An Important Tool Of Social Control Introduction Leisure time itself can be defined in many ways. According to Cordes (2003), the meaning of leisure varies among cultures and that there is little agreement about its meaning and implications... some see leisure as freedom from work, while others view it as an important tool of social control or a symbol of one s status . We have all experienced leisure in our lifetime. We have all taken part in activities we deem fun, exciting, or relaxing. The purpose of reflecting upon the various ways we spend our free time is to provide reflection upon our lives. Free time is valued, and by reflecting upon what we do with our time can help us find insight on whether or not our free time is spent wisely. As I reflect upon my life experience in relation to Nash s Paradigm of Free Time, I hope to gain more insight on how I have been spending my free time. I expect to reflect upon the less productive times and make a change on how to spend my free time better. Injury to Society Injury to society includes delinquency and crime. When I was in high school, around 15 or 16 years old, I used to shoplift things from the store. While I did do these things out of boredom, I had mostly stolen things for the monetary value. My leisure time was spent mostly at the mall, with other friends who would steal as well. Eventually I did get caught, and fortunately I was let off with just a warning. After that, I never stole again. The effect of me stealing as a teen has left an emotional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
