Week 3 Assignments, Chapter 7 9 In response to chapter seven s objective, one has to explain how
slavery influence life for the African American today. Is there a single person, place, thing or event
that has connected past slavery to the now and free present? One could mention the Willie Lynch
letter. Willie Lynch was a British slave owner that lived in the West Indies. The letter is said to be a
speech on how to make a slave, while addressing other slave masters. In the letter, the making of a
slave was a science, because he had boasted about used some of the newest and some of the oldest

The current economic situation is terrible. In 2011, blacks made 66 cents for every dollar earned by
whites, compared to 55 cents for every dollar earned by whites in 1963. How do Black Americans
break the poverty cycle? What caused this? One suggestion says that under resourced schools and
mass incarceration drives this cycle. Both must be eradicated, neither is adequate in itself. Schools in
poor neighborhoods most of the time are inadequate to handle the mission of educating the youth. On
the other hand, a black student in a suburban school is six times more likely to graduate on time and
be college ready than a black student in a segregated urban school. Five times as many Whites are
using drugs as African Americans, yet African Americans are sent to prison for drug offenses at 10
times the rate of Whites. This is due to unfair drug laws, over policing and prosecutions in black
neighborhoods and overenthusiastic district attorneys. If America can find a way to improve
educational attainment for black males and eliminate disparate rates of incarceration for drug offences
would begin to break the poverty cycle. The main characteristic of Latinos is, get in where you fit in ,

They Say I Say Journal Analysis
In this week s journal we were assigned reading in the They Say, I Say book. The assigned reading
was to teach us how to write papers in an argumentative form, either agreeing with a statement,
disagreeing, or a little of both. As explained in our chapter often writers are afraid to argue a
statement, based on the fact that they feel as if they do not have enough knowledge about the
information. The question to be answered in this journal is, how do I see myself as an arguer? I do see
myself as an arguer. I do not particularly like to argue certain issues. If the issue is something I feel
strongly about, I will argue the facts. I do feel as if I am good at winning an argument. However in
order for me to win an argument, I always make

John Ford Impact On Westerns
He was the academy winning Western legend, recognized as one of the best filmmakers of all time, his
name was John Ford. He started out his career in film in July 1914 as an assistant, labourman and
actor for his brother Francis Ford. It was not until 1917 where he made his debut as a director with the
lost film, The Tornado and ended his career in the early 1970s with his last film Chesty: A Tribute to a
Legend. During his early years, he was making silent films where Westerns were very popular during
the time. When the introduction of sound came and the birth of Talkies came, however, the genre
started losing its popularity. Yet, that did not stop the director from working on the genre, eventually to
the point where he is now credited today as the man who played a huge role in bringing the westerns
back to popularity. So, in this video essay, I will be talking about John Ford s take on Westerns and
how he revolutionized the genre.
Now, what made him so unique in his take was his use of the scenery to enhance how the story is
being told and how the characters were presented and developed in the movies.
As I have said, one of his trademark characteristics was his use of scenery. John Ford used the
environment to describe his characters and the situations they were in instead of ... Show more content

He was what many people called a poet who was able to aesthetically display the American
environment, especially those in the Old West. He was reported to have been able to visualize the
scene in his head without the need for storyboards or graphical outlines. Furthermore, he added layers
to his characters that added the gray areas in morality, taking one step further from just black and
white characters. In conclusion, he was influential for his efforts in the revival of the western genre
and his ability to make visually appealing scenes for the audience that would carry on the style in
future westerns, showing his footprint in filming

The Government And Indonesian Central Bank
In the past decades, the Indonesian banking system has experienced significant changes. The
economic crisis that hit Indonesia in 1997 1998 has resulted in a deteriorate bank performance and the
banking system nearly collapsed. The economy declined by 13% in 1998 and the country had to take a
43 billion USD bailout fund by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as its currency weakened,
companies could not pay their loans and at least 80 banks failed or were nationalized (Setiaji and
Chen, 2012). The government and Indonesian Central Bank (Bank Indonesia) implemented various
policy changes in order to save the banking system from collapsing, including the provision of Bank
Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (Syafri, 2012). These policies have ... Show more content on

While the global economic condition is still recovering from crisis, many argue that the process is
uneven and susceptible to shock (Bank Indonesia, 2015). The recovery process tends to slow down as
there is weakened commodity prices and foreign investment, and these factors are inevitably affecting
the growth rate of Indonesia. GDP growth is falling from 6.3% in 2007 to a forecasted growth rate of
5.5% in 2015 (Asian Development Bank, 2015). In this case, as a financial intermediary, banks have a
strategic role in supporting the national economic growth. It is believed that efficient banking system
is essential for the country development. Therefore, a study looking at the efficiency and profitability
of Indonesian banks is substantial as it will signal the growth of the Indonesian economy in the future.
According to Bloomberg, the lenders in Indonesia have the most profits among the top 20 economies
in the world (Vallikappen and Moestafa, 2013). The data shows that Indonesian banks have higher
profitability than other Southeast Asian (ASEAN) countries due to high demand for credit. It can be
seen that banks in Indonesia tend to have high net interest margin (NIM), which demonstrates the
ability of traditional bank activities to generate interest based income. From 2000 to 2009, average
banks in Indonesia had the highest NIM of 5.29% compare to other ASEAN countries, including the

The PSDA further requires institutions to document patient information and provide ongoing
community education on advance directives. (Ascension Health, 2013). An example of this Act is the
very popular Nancy Cruzan Case. Although Nancy was left in a vegetative state resulting from a car
accident, her parents were able to make the decision to have her removed from feeding tubes because
Nancy expressed before the accident that she never wanted to be kept alive from breathing or feeding
tubes. This Act really promotes Advanced Directives and hospitals, clinics and other providers that
receive Medicare or Medicaid funds to provide patients with written information about their right and
the information must clearly state the institutions policies on withholding or withdrawing life
sustaining treatment. (Santa Clara University, 2010). There is a positive impact on hospitals or clinics,
providers and insurers in that they are all responsible for giving information on the rights of patients
when they get admitted. Adult patients must be provided with written information by the healthcare
facility about decision making in health and this is based on informed consent. Personal Life or

Far Cry from Where We Want to Be but We re on the Right Path
With less than one year and seven months left to achieve their goals, can the United Nations
Millennium Campaign be considered a success?
In September 2000, with the new millennium coming to an end, the ever looming reality of the serious
issues, such as extreme poverty and hunger that had been plaguing third world countries and the less
fortunate, had officially been brought to light and must be dealt with. These issues were compiled and
formed the basis of what is known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Eight goals that
the United Nations Millennium Campaign have set out to achieve by 2015, which include; Eradication
of extreme poverty and hunger, universal primary education, gender equality and female
empowerment, the reduction of child mortality, the improvement of maternal health, fighting
HIV/AIDS, malaria and other serious diseases, environmental sustainability and finally a global
partnership for development (SOURCE http://www.unmillenniumproject.org/goals/index.htm).
Fourteen years later, with just over a year left until the self imposed deadline, the question is Can the
Millennium Development Goals be considered a success?
I personally believe the MDGs to be a success in that, not only did they raise awareness and bring to
light many serious issues that had made life in countries, such as those in Africa and other developing
countries difficult or unbearable, less so; but they have implemented ways to remedy the problems
that created unfair living

Analysis Of The Book Honky By Dalton Conley
Author and sociologist, Dalton Conley, is a Caucasian boy who grows up in a predominantly African
American and Latino neighborhood in the Lower East Side of Manhattan during the 1970 s and 80 s.
In his book, Honky, he tells us a unique view through a young boy s eyes uncovering the way in which
individuals are perceived in social reality, and how some groups of people are classified. He also
speaks about how some groups get better opportunities and privileges then others. This book is a very
powerful autobiography, according to his book, written by, not your typical middle class white male.
(prologue, p. xiii) He goes on to say that he is middle class, even though his parents didn t have any
money and that he is a white boy, even though he grew up in an inner city housing project where
mostly everyone was Black or Hispanic. Dalton speaks about his experience as a white boy exploring
his definition of race and class and saying that, race and class are nothing more than a set of stories we
tell ourselves to get through the world, to organize our reality. (prologue, p. xiv) He describes his
childhood as a social science experiment, Find out what being middle class really means by raising a
kid from a so called good family in a so called bad neighborhood. (prologue, p. xiii) In the first few
chapters, Dalton s thought of race was something that he was not aware of in his early years. He writes
about being the age of three and the new sister he chose to kidnap, which

Theme Of Power And Corruption In The Most Dangerous Game
Power and corruption have always gone hand in hand with the world today. The characters in the short
stories. Monkey s Paw by Richard Connell is about a family getting the gift of a monkey s paw that
holds three wishes and instead of heeding the warning of an old friend, they use the wishes for
horrible consequences. The Most Dangerous Game follows the story of a young man who gets trapped
on an island with a man called General Zaroff that hunts the unfortunate people who stumble across
the island. How to transform is about an eighth grader who learns lessons about life as he practices
playing basketball in an old gym. These stories have the motif of power and corruption throughout the
story, and though this motif comes the theme of each short story. Power and corruption are used
throughout The Most Dangerous Game to show some myths hold true. In The Most Dangerous Game
when Rainsford first describes General Zaroff right hand man Ivan The menacing look in the eyes did
not change. The revolver pointed as rigidly as if the giant were a statute (Connell 3).Ivan has the
power here to let Rainsford go,however he is corrupted by the general s thinking. He is also corrupted
by his love of power that he holds over the innocent victims that land on this island. As the night
carries on General Zaroff describes his methods of restocking the island, he says Sometimes an angry
god of the high seas sends them to me, sometimes when providence is not so kind

Research Paper On Mercury Transit
With all the hype surrounding the Mercury transit doomsday theory, it almost seems that evil aliens
exist on the planet itself. Apparently, that may not seem as outlandish as it sounds. NASA has
discovered that life may be possible on the planet although it would hardly be glamorous.
MERCURY TRANSIT SCARES THE WORLD
About 13 times a century, Mercury passes between the Earth and the Sun. The beautiful and rare
occurrence was caught on film and to the surprise of many, we on Earth still exist. There was a theory
floating around that suggested evil forces were at work during the Mercury transit. Apparently, with
the aligning of the planets, other astronomical alignments occurred as well. The powers that be would
then unleash on the galaxy and Earth would cease to exist. Seeing as that didn t happen, perhaps the
evil aliens of Mercury were captured in time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If aliens, evil or not, existed on Mercury, they would have to be some thick skinned beings. According
to NASA, the planet s extreme temperatures would make it nearly impossible for humans to live on
the planet, but given the right technology, it may be possible. The planet does have water ice at its
poles. Any beings living there could possible starting mining the ice and live off the land. Still,
extreme temperates would likely be unavoidable. Daytime temperatures on the planet can reach up to
800 degrees Fahrenheit and nighttime temps get to minus 290. It s safe to assume anyone dealing with
that on a daily basis would surely be evil.

Main Regression Results
A key part of their findings was, in part, by looking at the different kinds of prices that consumers face
when making a spending decision. In other words, they found that consumers spending reductions
(responsiveness to the HDHP) was largely in part due to their more salient response to spot prices
(defined as the fair marginal price at time of purchase) than to the products or services true shadow
price (defined as the expected marginal end of year price). To determine which primary price resulted
in the spending reductions, they conducted another regression analysis (Appendix 3). This finding
ultimately explains why the well off, sickest quartile of employees reduce their spending the greatest,
which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the sickest quartile for one given year may or may not be the exact same sample for
another given year. This quantile based approach also accounts for potential reversion to the mean.
One specific robustness check the authors considered was to account for the group of employees (and
their independents) that switched from the free health insurance plan to the complex non linear HDHP
sooner than the actual enforcement of the policy change. They conducted a differences in differences
approach to control for the effect of early switchers.
Conclusion Bottom line Message of Paper
Measuring the changes of health care spending is at the heart of health economics that aims to help
policymakers and large employers alike in their search to optimally design and regulate the health
insurance market. An optimal market such that it constrains the staggering growth of health care
expenditures without significantly reducing the quality of health care consumed. Within the US, the
authors find that the GDP has grown from about 5% to a confounding 17.4% in the past half century.
Brot Goldberg et al. seems to implicitly warn that such demand side policy changes like the HDHP are
likely to be counterproductive. The authors emphasize to their readers that the government needs to
recognize the limit of cost sharing coverage plans and focus more on the supply side policies such as
looking at how to properly

Analysis Of Maria De Garcia De Marquez
Finding out a family member has a disease and that it s a mental one, is devastating. Mental problems
don t just destroy the individual, but the entire family. Until recently, we came across something
known as delusions of persecution. We immediately started seeking for answers only to find out my
great aunt, Maria de Jesus Carbajal de Marquez, has been suffering from delusions of persecution for
the past three years. Never in a million years did we think that one of our family members would
suffer from this mental disease.
Whenever a person falsely believes they are being conspired against by others is called delusions of
persecution. An example of delusions of persecution would be that the government is spying on an
individual (e.g. tapping their phone lines) because they were wrongfully identified as a terrorist (
Specific Themes of Delusions ). There are four general types of delusions: bizarre delusions, non
bizarre delusions, mood congruent delusions, and mood neutral delusions. Moreover, there are specific
types of themes of delusions. These themes range from: control (believing another person is able to
control your brain) to grandeur (believing that you are God) to mind reading (believing others can
read your mind) ( Specific Themes of Delusion ). For example, delusions of persecution is a theme
that has eight different types of sub themes: attacked, cheated, conspired against, followed,

The Best Characteristics Of A Good Law Enforcement
Introduction The best characteristics of a good law enforcement professional would be integrity,
honesty, calm under pressure, and strength. In summation, the law enforcement professional only
wants to use physical force and restraint as a last resort as a tactic to enforcing the law. The most
effective law enforcement professional are those that are able to resolve issues and enforce the law
without resorting to a physical confrontation. As such, effective verbal communication is probably the
number one asset and quality of whatever profession. Effective communication skills enable officers
to develop rapport with the public, fellow workers, and informants and disarm would be felons. Sound
communication skills may enable a law enforcement office to avoid severe harm or even destruction.
Moreover, good law enforcement officers are not only strong and manly but they are also meek and
mild. A good professional should be driven by a strong and sincere motivation to help better other
peoples lives and situations, protect those who cannot protect themselves, and make a positive
difference in the world be it large or small. Good law enforcement officers and professionals feel a
sense of responsibility and dedication to community service. Law enforcement officers must be
physically and mentally fit at all times in order to effectively carry out their duties. Non only is law
enforcement physically demanding but also it is also emotionally demanding. In parliamentary law for

Virtual Machine Intrusions
The technique can detect DDoS attacks as well and blocking complete botnets (Amna Riaz 2017).
However, NIDS is going to face issues processing all packets in large virtual network and it may fail
to detect attacks in time as SNORT is single threaded.
Another solution that has been studied is Virtual Machine Introspection (VMI) based technique (Amna
Riaz 2017). Virtual machine introspection (VMI) is the main idea behind out of box intrusion
detection. VMI is a technique of inspecting VM state by moving the inspection module outside of the
VM. The software running inside the guest system is analysed externally to detect any intrusion. One
advantage of this technique is that malware detection continues to work unaffectedly even in the ...

However, on the brighter side a NIDS has high attack resistance ().
Being SNORT as a single threaded, processing huge logs for the cloud computing is an issue so multi
thread IDS is essential in the cloud computing (Parag K. Shelke 2012, p. 68). SURICATA is multi
threaded and could resolve the performance issues and packet loss we face with the single thread IDS.
Virtualization has made network management more challenging, and it s more and more difficult to
consistently apply firewall and content filtering policies. When you add in complexities such as
securing BYOD devices, the security problem is intensified. Software defined networking (SDN) is
next evolving technology for the cloud computing. SDN is an umbrella term covering several kinds of
network technology aimed at making the network as agile and flexible as the virtualized server and
storage infrastructure of the modern data center. The SDN Controller provides a centralized system to
manage the network. The network administrators are empowered by SDN to easily access and manage
individual flows by facilitating them to implement monitoring applications, i.e., firewall and IDS.
Furthermore, scalable monitoring and dynamic reconfiguration requirements of the network in cloud
makes SDN a perfect choice (Amna Riaz 2017).
Using OSSEC and BRO as IDS tools can also help to resolve analysing and integrating the log files as

The Construction Of The Parthenon In Athens, Greece
The Parthenon is located in Athens,Greece. It was constructed approximately in 447 BC and
completed around 432 BC as a temple dedicated to the Goddess Athena., which the original one was
destroyed in Persian Invasion of 480 BC. The Parthenon was used primarily as a treasury. In the sixth
century AD, it was converted into a Christian church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. During the
Ottoman conquest it became a Mosque which was around 1460 s. The Parthenon was partially
destroyed in 1687.
The architects were Iktinos and Kallikrates with a mention of Vitruv and dedicated to the Goddess
Athena Pallas or Parthenos (virgin). It s main function was to house the statues of Athena which were
made of gold and ivory by Phedias. The inner chamber was unusually large so it could house the

The American Red Cross (ARC)
The American Red Cross (ARC) has long faced multiple ethical dilemmas associated with various
aspects of its operations. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been closely scrutinizing the
organization related to its blood donation services (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2015). In Canada, over
1,000 people; mostly hemophiliacs dependent on life saving blood clotting products, have been
infected by HIV tainted transfusions and more than 500 Canadian hemophiliacs have subsequently
died of AIDS as a result of contaminated blood from the Red Cross (Grace, 1995). These accusations

characters to be extremely complex. Avon Barksdale, for example, is the lord of the drug circuit, in the
city of Boston. Throughout the show his hard exterior is torn down, as we see him with his children,
seemingly a regular dad. The Wire, also shows that Avon Braksdale, is an extremely smart
businessman. He knows how to properly run his drug empire, delegate work to other people. Another

simply a young drug dealer. The Wire however does not only break down racial stereotypes, but also

Culture Summary For The Malaysian Culture And The Culture...
Culture summary for the Malay
As described by Manning Nash, the people of Malaysia, also known as the Malay, are a very
culturally diverse people. Malaysia is located in southeast asia, primarily thought of as the Malaysian
peninsula, Malaysia also includes Sabah and Sarawak, which is located upon the Island of Borneo.
Although some Malays live upon Borneo about 90 percent (Nash, 2011) live upon the peninsula.
Those who traditionally live on the Islands are known as the Iban culture. Although the Ibans live in
the same geographic location and the Malays, the Ibans differ culturally from them. Ibans are
anciently known to fight members of other tribes aggressively, practice headhunting, and slavery
(Sutlive and Beirele, 1995). Unlike the ancient Iban tribes, members of the culture Malay come from
various ancestors and find root in both Chinese and Indian cultures and have a language that is
described as somewhat similar to modern Indonesian. However, the Indonesian language has greater
dutch influence whereas Malaysian has English influences.
It is said that settlers came to the Malaysian peninsula in large numbers over a series of a few years.
Immediately, the aborigines that once settled on this land were pushed out. The history of the Malaysia
we know today began with Malacca Sultanate in about AD 1400. This empire, based mostly on
trading, played an important role in the spread of Islam throughout Malaysia. The religion of Islam
was widely and readily accepted.

St. Francis Dam Essay
The St. Francis Dam was open for use in 1926, following two years of constructions. The dam was
built in order to give the city of Los Angeles, and various other areas within the region a source of
water. Though the dam itself had good intentions, faulty engineering design, and bad construction
ultimately led to the untimely collapse of the dam on March 12th, 1928. After extensive research by
various local, state, and federal investigators, it was determined that engineers didn t take into account
or didn t care for safety measures of the dam. Since the St. Francis Dam was so profitable, many
people including non engineering personnel intentionally ignored the obvious early signs that the dam
was going to collapse. No one wanted to lose out on the economic prosperity the dam was giving. The
dam itself was for the most part proven to be inadequate even before the dam itself collapsed. The
personal who worked on the construction and the maintenance of the dam saw negative signs early on
such as cracks in the dam, and leaks. Still, despite these obvious warnings, the engineers and personals
ignored these issue. The negligence of these workers and their failure to report or take seriously the
warning signs lead to the collapse. This dam disaster was extremely catastrophic, and lead to the death
of some 431 people. After the collapse of the dam, many new pages of regulations and engineering
code were implemented in order to prevent another collapse of this dam again.

Statement of Cash Flows Essay
Statement of Cash Flows
STATEMENT OF CASH FLOWS 1
The Statement of Cash Flows is a very viable and helpful resource. Decision makers use the Statement
of Cash Flows in many instances to assess the viability of a firm. Within the statement are many types
of elements that are incorporated to create the complete Statement of Cash Flows. Also within the
statement is what is known as the inflows and outflows. In some cases, activity notes may be
incorporated to help complete such representations. To fully understand the Statement of Cash Flows

The cash flow statement has three components of cash flow which includes how cash enters and
leaves a company such as operating, investing and financing as mentioned above.
The Statement of Cash flows includes measuring the cash inflows and outflows caused by operations.
Cash inflows include cash received from: * Owners when sales are sold to them * Creditors when cash
is borrowed through notes, loans, mortgages, and bonds
Whereas cash outflows includes cash paid to: * Owners in the form of dividends or distributions
STATEMENT OF CASH FLOWS 3 * Owners for the reacquisition of shares previously sold *
Creditors as repayment of the principal amounts of debt (excluding trade payables that relate to
operating activities)
The operations component of cash flow reflects how much cash is generated from a company s
products or services. Generally, changes made in cash, accounts receivable, depreciation, inventory
and accounts payable are reflected in cash from operations.
The cash flow is calculated by making certain adjustments to net income by adding or subtracting
differences in revenue, expenses and credit transactions (appearing on the balance sheet and income
statement) resulting from transactions that occur from one period to the next. These adjustments are

Piaget and Vygotsky
Introduction
Cognitive development is interpreted as the gradual orderly development of thinking, understanding
and reasoning processes from birth to maturity. The aim of primary school is to build the knowledge
and the skills children need to have for further cognitive development. Therefore, the constant
development of coginition is very important to young children, because it gives them the basic
understanding towards themselves and the world. As a result, in order to assist and support children s
early cognitive development, teachers apply the ideas of educational theorists such as Jean Piaget and
Lev Vygotsky in teaching.

In conclusion, most of children are in preoperational stage, but heading to concrete operational stage,
they gradual gain more logical thinking skills and reversibility through game making, discovering and
problem solving. Nevertheless, Troy and Tim are likely functioning in concrete operational stage. Troy

problems and Tim made a skateboard from the heater. A singing center would be more helpful towards
children s literacy and pragmatics skills through sing nursery rhymes.
Discussion
In order to help children s cognitive development, the application of Piaget and Vygotsky theories are
highly positive and critical. As Woolfolk and Margetts (2010) mentioned, teachers can extend children
s knowlegde by using children s disequilibration as the motivation. The use of cultural tools in

The Pros And Cons Of High School Athletes
Athletes Yes or No There has been many occasions where high school teachers have to make a hard
decision when an athlete is failing, what should they do. I believe that no high school athlete deserves
any help from their teachers in order to play. They should be able to complete the circumstances
needed in school if they truly wanted to play the sport these athletes are in. If this idea was allowed in
high school what will happen to these kids later on in life like in college, will they be able to
accomplish the goals at that point when it matters most? Many high schools and teachers don t realize
the damage they can do to these athletes if they do give them those couple extra points to play.
According to a website, Any student should have good grades to play sports. Even if you are a great
athlete, you will probably not get a full athletic scholarship. Having good grades can lessen your stress
about affording college ( psychologytoday.com ). In this case, what teachers don t know is not only are
they making that athlete happy to play, but at the same time you are hurting that person for future
references, when later in their future college sees the kind of grades that athlete is getting he may not
be the kind of fit for whichever school that may be. Overall any student that has failed a class and is
not able to play that athlete shouldn t be able to play at all. If an athlete is not able to be responsible to

The Effects Of Marijuana And Why It Should Be Prohibited
The Negative Effects of Marijuana and Why It Should Be Prohibited
Abdulkader Hamdoun
University of Victoria
Nowadays, legalizing marijuana is considered a sensitive issue among societies and governments.
Marijuana has become one of the most commonly used drugs all over the world. Some people suggest
that it should be permissible, while others believe that it is hazardous and it should be prohibited. It is
true that marijuana has a few positive effects that contribute in the medical field, but we cannot deny
the fact that the majority of its effects are negative. Therefore, marijuana should be prohibited because
of its effects on adolescent, the effects on brain health, and its effects on the physical health.
It is true that some studies suggest that cannabis, which is the plant from which marijuana is derived,
has some positive impacts on certain illnesses. For instance, a laboratory study shows that THC,
which is one of the compounds in the cannabis plant, may be useful for increasing appetite. Also,
another study suggests that THC can contribute positively in treating glaucoma by reducing
intraocular pressure. Furthermore, a study indicates that THC can be a pain relief to patients who
suffer from multiple sclerosis. However, that does not mean that marijuana should be legal and all of
these points are not sufficient for legalizing marijuana (Godandscience.org, 2015).
The first reason why marijuana should be prohibited is that it affects adolescents

In the business world companies are always trying to maximize their earning potential by strategically
investing in short term financing. In terms of finance short term may mean months or even a couple of
years. The type of finance method that is used is contingent on the specific needs of the corporation.
These methods include trade credit, bank credit, financing through commercial paper, foreign
borrowing, and the use of collateral, accounts receivable financing, inventory financing and hedging
to reduce borrowing risk. Trade credit is the practice of purchasing goods now and paying for them
later. Trade credit is widely used and is the least expensive and most convenient form of short term
financing (McHugh, McHugh Nickels, 1999, p. 573). When a company purchases goods on credit an
invoice is received outlining the terms of repayment. An invoice contains terms such as 2/10, net 30.
The total bill is due in 30 days, but the supplier has extended a discount if the amount is paid in full
within 10 days. Finance managers use the information on the invoice to perform an analysis to find
out if the discount is worth paying the invoice in advance or if there is opportunity for more earning
potential if invested elsewhere.

The proof is that there was a trial for German physicians who conducted these human experiments on
concentration camp prisoners which were prosecuted as war criminals. Until now, the society still
continue to discuss if it is acceptable in the medical community to consider the medical research data
that were collected during these experimentations. Even some of these experiments had legitimate
scientific purposes, the methods used violated the canons of medical ethics. Others were racial in
nature, designed to advance Nazi racial theories. Most were simply bad science. Additionally, some
believe there are major ethical problems with using the data collected in this unethical manner. Once a
decision to use the data has been made, experts suggest that it must not be included as ordinary
scientific research, just to be cited and placed in a medical journal. I agree with author Robert J. Lifton

atrocities were committed for that experiment. Citations of the Nazi data must be accompanied with
the author s condemnation of the data as a lesson in horror and as a moral aberration in medical

Vertical integration in studio system Essay
Vertical integration in studio system
The term vertical integration refers to the structure of a marketplace, which is integrated (rather than
segregated) at a variety of crucial levels. In the case of the motion picture industry, the studio system
established a market in which the studios owned production facilities, distribution outlets, and
theaters. In other words, the studios controlled every level of the marketplace from the top down, from
production to exhibition.
Vertical integration began in the 1910s and inspired the postwar consolidation of the studio system as
national distribution companies, such as Paramount merged with production companies, such as

Players and Lasky and subsequently began purchasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majors owned only a fraction of the nation s theaters, e.g. 3000 of the 18000. But these theaters
were large, first run houses and located in big cities. Therefore they generated 70% of the box office
receipts.
The majors ensured the profitability of their own theaters and controlled the independents by
instituting a series of special distribution practices. These were known as block booking, blind
bidding, runs, zones, and clearances.
Block booking refers to the rental of films in large quantity. If exhibitors wanted to rent films, they
have to rent the entire yearly output. And since they contracted with the distributors before the film
has been made, the distributors were forced to bid for them without seeing them, a procedure called
blind bidding. This way the studios could sell the bad pictures with good.
As a result of the system the new films will be first rented to the first run theaters of which the
majority was owned by the studios, and then its shown in the second run and sub run theaters after a
clearance time of about 7 30 days (to renew demand). Distribution is also guided by a system of
zones; only one theater in any particular area is allowed to show a new picture.
The dismantling of the studio system began just before World War II when the U.S. Department of
justice s Antitrust Division filed suit against the 8 studios for the use of their monopolistic methods

The Breakdown Of The Basic Nature Of Chinese Poetry
The breakdown of the basic nature of Chinese and English lyrical relations shows that they can be
distinguished from one another through the use of metaphor to evoke the relationship between scene
and feeling and vehicle and tenor respectively. The Western poetry s use of metaphor celebrates the
use of human deception through a made up connection between that which is being talked about
(tenor) and the one who talks about it (vehicle). On the other hand, the Chinese poetry s relies on the
metaphor to come up with the context of scene and feeling which involves the appreciation of the
dynamic lyrical resonance between nature and the human being. Moreover, while the Western practice
engages in purposeful process of conveyance to formulate such explicit correspondence between tenor
and vehicle, the Chinese tradition is set apart by the spontaneous encounter that evokes the implicit
correspondence between scene and feeling. This paper therefore looks into the use of scene and
feeling in Chinese poetry and tenor and vehicle in Western poetry in relation to the metaphor with an
effort to highlight their differences and application.
Scene and Feeling relationship
The term scene basically portrays the physical context that is described in the poem. This physical
context usually entails descriptions of rivers, mountains, vegetation, and animal life among others
(Yanfang 186). When it comes to Chinese poetry, the portrayal of nature is a key element. However,

Independent Vs Blockbuster Research Paper
Ever since the Supreme Court handed down the Paramount decision the film industry has been open to
everyone, not just large studios. The advent of such freedom in the business caused many smaller
entities to produce small budget films which packed a big punch. To counter this new wave large
studios had to find a moneymaking venture that the smaller producers couldn t go up against; namely
blockbuster films. This created the venue that s still in the forefront today, the blockbuster versus the
independent. Independent film, created outside of the normal studio format, is one of the best ways
that smaller budgeted producers can bring their ideas to market. Born not of the major but of the minor
independent film is a more intimate way of portraying concepts on the screen. Usually made with a
higher refined standard and better acting independent film can provide an ... Show more content on

The Horror genre is a very good example of a section which straddles the line between both
blockbuster and independent. The Blair Witch Project was a small budget film made on hand held
cameras for a little over half a million dollars. Event Horizon was a blockbuster made for the towering
price of 60 million. Both movies were unbelievably brutal in their ability to scare people through use
of camera techniques and excellent acting. Suspense and the methods of violence were very similar
with an unseen antagonist pursuing the main characters ultimately most to their death. The Blair Witch
Project was able to provide a wide audience a sense of impending doom through suspenseful acting
and editing. The movie provided the viewer with point of view access to on screen happenings,
putting the viewer in the middle of the action. The sense of unknowing was very strong, giving the
viewer enough ammunition to let their imagination run

The Effects Of False Beauty From Photoshop
The Effects of False Beauty from Photoshop Everywhere women look, all we see is a form of false
beauty within the media that surrounds us on an everyday basis. When we look at women in
magazines, beauty advertisements, television commercials and more we see beautiful big eyes,
luscious full lips, soft, wrinkle free, poreless skin, and that intriguing radiant glow that every photo
seems to have. How about the curves of the woman s body, the shape and perfect placement of their
breasts, and how every inch of their figure is always in the shape and size that we personally wish to
be at; how everything about these women seem to be well... perfect in every way. Women start out
young admiring the beauty that these women hold in media and ... Show more content on

So, if you think about how much you wanted to impress the boy you had a crush on when you were
going to school; you would style your hair nice and pretty making sure that every strand was in its
right place, take an hour or more to do your makeup just to try to resemble a beauty that you saw
somewhere, and lastly you would pick out that perfect outfit, making sure to look in the mirror ten
times before you left the house. You did all of this just to impress a boy and in some cases the boy you
liked still did not notice you. This triggers sentiments and emotions in your head that can resemble
you thinking that you are not good enough or pretty enough for this boy, which brings your self
esteem down and causes you to start changing more and more about your appearance. Self esteem
sucks honestly because one day you can feel you look beautiful and happy with yourself externally,
but one moment later something can happen making you feel just the opposite. In today s world
women are shown and told how they should look, what they should wear, and what they should eat to
be able to achieve the beauty that is shown in women s magazine and beauty advertisements around
the world. Women and men are both affected by media outlets; later in their lives they will look to be
in a relationship with a woman/man that resembles these photos in magazines, but what both men and
women do not understand is that every picture in these magazines are fake. The perfect beauty that we

Savage Inequalities By Jonathan Kozol
In Savage Inequalities, Jonathan Kozol documents the troubling inequalities within American public
school systems and their various districts. Thus focusing on the savage inequalities between highly
privileged districts and poor districts within these public school systems. From the time period of 1988
to 1990, Jonathan Kozol visited various public schools in multiple neighborhoods, including East St.
Louis, the Bronx, Chicago, Harlem, Jersey City, and San Antonio. Throughout the chapters, Kozol
describes horrendous conditions within these schools and questions the students, faculty, and staff
members regarding their reflection of the current school s maintenance, teachers salary and
availability, and student s deteriorating curriculum. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fear of the deteriorating value of education materials to support the appropriate grade levels, white
families flee the public school system to magnet or private school for higher enrichment. Meanwhile,
suburban legislators and Governor Thompson agree that we can t keep throwing money into a black
hole (Kozol, 1988, p. 53). Ultimately, the education at public schools were thrown aside at the cost of
enriching the lives of students in affluent schools. Within the two districts I researched, Dallas ISD
and Highland Park ISD, I found that the gathered median income from Highland Park is four times
that of Dallas ISD. Because of this, Dallas ISD students are forced to rely on the limited sources of
educational materials which are reflected by the substantially different median income compared to
Highland ISD. Additionally, racial divide amongst the two ISD s is astonishing. In Dallas ISD s only
5.1% of the student body is identified as white but Highland Park is 85.8%. Meanwhile, the other
ethnicities for the two school districts have the percentages swapped. Having Highland ISD s black,
Latino/Hispanic, Asian, or Pacific ethnicities just below the 15% margin and Dallas ISD s non white
ethnicities soaring above 94%, the clear distinction of racial inequality among these two districts are
evident. Comparing these percentages aligns to Kozol s evaluation of white overpopulation in affluent
schools within different districts such as Highland ISD.

Compare And Contrast T. I And Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
T.I. and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow are two people from different generation, but they have the
same point of view on life, saying that everyone should live their life to the fullest. The main
similarities and differences between these two people and their poem/song is that they both convey the
same message by telling people that they should be happy for what they got, and to not look at what is
ahead or behind but look in the now. They also talked about how men have died for what they have.
Whilst the difference is that T.I. says forget the other people and just do you and he talks about his
personal life more. Henry W. Longfellow on the other hand is giving people purpose to life, not letting
someone else control you. The similarities

Client Communication Within an organization effective commination requires clear objectives along

mission declaration the organization proceeds to demonstrate the organizational course of the
company. Serving, as a positive management system a value statement works as long as long the
requirements for management are apparent (Cady, Wheeler, DeWolf, Brodke, 2011, p. 64). Without
implementing a clear mission organizational results could incur long term harmful effects. Once the
organization put the mission declaration into a program plan it passes to the organizational advisor.
The relationship begins with the customer and consultant whereby developing a strategic and

dedication and participation in order, for the project to become a reality as well as incurs a 50/50

group decision that determines whether or not it is necessary to act upon the consultants offer whereby

Use Of Magic, Spells, Creatures And Magical Devices
Throughout the Harry Potter series you are introduced to many forms of magic, spells, creatures and
magical devices. One of the very first devices used in the series appears in the first book and is one of
the main components to the book and a driving role in the plot even giving the book a title. That
device is the Philosopher s stone, also known as the Sorcerer s stone. An extraordinary alchemist in
the wizarding world and long time friend of Albus Dumbledore, Nicolas Flame, created the stone. The
stone is used to create the Elixir of Life potion. When someone drinks the Elixir of Life their life is
extended however long they want as long as they keep taking the potion before its effects wear off.

created by Professor Sprout; flying keys that were charmed by Flitwick; Professor McGonagall s life

and the troll which attacks Hermione in the bathroom brought in by Professor Quirrell. All seven
creatures or enchantments work to protect the stone from Voldemort. However, throughout the year,
Harry, Hermione, and Ron become suspicious of Snape and think that he is going to try and steal the
treasured stone. Acting on their suspicions the three friends get past the seven complications Harry
ends up having to duel Lord Voldemort and Professor Quirrell, who Voldemort was actually using to
get to the stone. Harry defeats them both, Quirrell s life is lost and Lord Voldemort is diminished from
this world again. After the battle Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel decide to destroy the stone so that
Voldemort could not get ahold of it at a later date. Since the stone is what was keeping Nicolas Flamel
and his wife alive, they both ended up dying with the destruction of the stone. Like many other aspects
of the Potter series, the Philosopher s Stone has many political links. The most evident display of
political styles seen in the stone is perfectionism. The stone s main uses are for

Augustine s Growth In The Confessions
Throughout The Confessions, Augustine experiences growth in all facets of life, especially in his
ability to focus on his spirituality, to prioritize his relationships, and to satisfy his intellectual hunger.
This development allows him to improve the way that he grieves the loss of significant family
members. In his autobiography, Augustine shows clear signs of growth in the way that he handles
death and grief. This is evident by the way Augustine explains his struggle with the death of his father,
special friend, mother, and son. Augustine s grief remains selfish, immature, and excessive during his
adolescence, however, develops to become healthy and controlled as a result of his relationship with
God. It is not Augustine s age which leads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His blurred vision of what is important in life caused his grieving to be excessive and selfish.
Augustine expresses the burden of his mourning by saying, Feverishly I trashed about, sighed, wept,
and was troubled, and there was no response for me, nor any counsel. Within me I was carrying a
tattered, bleeding soul that did not want me to carry it, yet I could find no place to put it down (64). In
this passage, Augustine selfishly mourns, focusing on his personal pain. He expresses how he was hurt
because his friend was snatched He uses strong diction such as feverishly, wept, troubled, and tattered,
bleeding soul that evoke emotion in the reader s mind. This intense word choice allows the reader to
visualize Augustine s pain and suffering. Each word carries purpose and reiterates the idea that
Augustine was consumed by his sorrow while conveying a hopeless tone. Augustine also expresses the
intensity of his struggle by stating, Black grief closed over my heart and wherever I went I only saw
death (62). Because Augustine was so incapable of continuing his life due to severe grief, he had no
option but to reevaluate his life to determine where he went wrong. This struggle with grief was a
critical turning point which helped him realize that his inappropriate love for things in this world were
the reason for his depression and

Gring-Pemble PRWORA Case Study
Gring Pemble (2001) analyzed the debates and hearings surrounding the Personal Responsibility and
Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act in 1996 (PRWORA). This act entailed limiting welfare,
reducing teenage pregnancy and helping welfare recipients finding employment (Gring Pemble,
2001). The author was interested in the discursive practices by which policy makers negotiate and
create a given social reality, a powerful construction on which future legislative action is premised
(Gring Pemble, 2001, p. 342). These discursive practices were focused on the depiction of welfare
recipients and the actions, motives and objectives attributed to them, in order to uncover the rhetorical
processes underlying the policy formation procedure. Gring Pemble (2001) classified three depictions
of welfare receivers used by the legislators and witnesses in the hearings surrounding the PRWORA to

341). The specific PRWORA case study is used to demonstrate the importance of rhetoric when
undergoing policy changes (Gring Pemble, 2001). The article claims to advance the scholarly dialogue
concerning the negotiation and construction of public policy as a rhetorical process beginning with bill
proposals, congressional hearings and congressional debates (Gring Pemble, 2001, p. 342). There are
several important implications that contribute to this scholarly dialogue. First of all, the function of
depictions in policy creation is demonstrated. Social policy deliberations are anecdotal in nature
because the depictions vivify problems that are difficult to quantify (Gring Pemble, 2001, p. 359). In
depictive rhetoric, depictions imply narratives (Gring Pemble, 2001, p. 343). In other words, the
attributes one uses to describe an individual implicate a more comprehensive image for the audience,
concerning behaviors, lifestyles and

Week 3 Assignment, Chapter 7 Week 3 Assignment, Chapter 7 9 EVICTUS D MCMILLIAN Wilmington University Week 3 Assignments, Chapter 7 9 In response to chapter seven s objective, one has to explain how slavery influence life for the African American today. Is there a single person, place, thing or event that has connected past slavery to the now and free present? One could mention the Willie Lynch letter. Willie Lynch was a British slave owner that lived in the West Indies. The letter is said to be a speech on how to make a slave, while addressing other slave masters. In the letter, the making of a slave was a science, because he had boasted about used some of the newest and some of the oldest methods to control their slaves. He even goes on to say his ... In 2011, blacks made 66 cents for every dollar earned by whites, compared to 55 cents for every dollar earned by whites in 1963. How do Black Americans break the poverty cycle? What caused this? One suggestion says that under resourced schools and mass incarceration drives this cycle. Both must be eradicated, neither is adequate in itself. Schools in poor neighborhoods most of the time are inadequate to handle the mission of educating the youth. On the other hand, a black student in a suburban school is six times more likely to graduate on time and be college ready than a black student in a segregated urban school. Five times as many Whites are using drugs as African Americans, yet African Americans are sent to prison for drug offenses at 10 times the rate of Whites. This is due to unfair drug laws, over policing and prosecutions in black neighborhoods and overenthusiastic district attorneys. If America can find a way to improve educational attainment for black males and eliminate disparate rates of incarceration for drug offences would begin to break the poverty cycle. The assigned reading was to teach us how to write papers in an argumentative form, either agreeing with a statement, disagreeing, or a little of both. As explained in our chapter often writers are afraid to argue a statement, based on the fact that they feel as if they do not have enough knowledge about the information. The question to be answered in this journal is, how do I see myself as an arguer? I do see myself as an arguer. I do not particularly like to argue certain issues. If the issue is something I feel strongly about, I will argue the facts. I do feel as if I am good at winning an argument. However in order for me to win an argument, I always make ... • 5. John Ford Impact On Westerns He was the academy winning Western legend, recognized as one of the best filmmakers of all time, his name was John Ford. He started out his career in film in July 1914 as an assistant, labourman and actor for his brother Francis Ford. It was not until 1917 where he made his debut as a director with the lost film, The Tornado and ended his career in the early 1970s with his last film Chesty: A Tribute to a Legend. During his early years, he was making silent films where Westerns were very popular during the time. When the introduction of sound came and the birth of Talkies came, however, the genre started losing its popularity. Yet, that did not stop the director from working on the genre, eventually to the point where he is now credited today as the man who played a huge role in bringing the westerns back to popularity. So, in this video essay, I will be talking about John Ford s take on Westerns and how he revolutionized the genre. Now, what made him so unique in his take was his use of the scenery to enhance how the story is being told and how the characters were presented and developed in the movies. As I have said, one of his trademark characteristics was his use of scenery. John Ford used the environment to describe his characters and the situations they were in instead of ... The economic crisis that hit Indonesia in 1997 1998 has resulted in a deteriorate bank performance and the banking system nearly collapsed. The economy declined by 13% in 1998 and the country had to take a 43 billion USD bailout fund by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as its currency weakened, companies could not pay their loans and at least 80 banks failed or were nationalized (Setiaji and Chen, 2012). While the global economic condition is still recovering from crisis, many argue that the process is uneven and susceptible to shock (Bank Indonesia, 2015). The recovery process tends to slow down as there is weakened commodity prices and foreign investment, and these factors are inevitably affecting the growth rate of Indonesia. GDP growth is falling from 6.3% in 2007 to a forecasted growth rate of 5.5% in 2015 (Asian Development Bank, 2015). In this case, as a financial intermediary, banks have a strategic role in supporting the national economic growth. It is believed that efficient banking system is essential for the country development. Therefore, a study looking at the efficiency and profitability of Indonesian banks is substantial as it will signal the growth of the Indonesian economy in the future. According to Bloomberg, the lenders in Indonesia have the most profits among the top 20 economies in the world (Vallikappen and Moestafa, 2013). The data shows that Indonesian banks have higher profitability than other Southeast Asian (ASEAN) countries due to high demand for credit. It can be seen that banks in Indonesia tend to have high net interest margin (NIM), which demonstrates the ability of traditional bank activities to generate interest based income. From 2000 to 2009, average banks in Indonesia had the highest NIM of 5.29% compare to other ASEAN countries, including the Philippines at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Far Cry from Where We Want to Be but We re on the Right Path With less than one year and seven months left to achieve their goals, can the United Nations Millennium Campaign be considered a success? In September 2000, with the new millennium coming to an end, the ever looming reality of the serious issues, such as extreme poverty and hunger that had been plaguing third world countries and the less fortunate, had officially been brought to light and must be dealt with. These issues were compiled and formed the basis of what is known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Eight goals that the United Nations Millennium Campaign have set out to achieve by 2015, which include; Eradication of extreme poverty and hunger, universal primary education, gender equality and female empowerment, the reduction of child mortality, the improvement of maternal health, fighting HIV/AIDS, malaria and other serious diseases, environmental sustainability and finally a global partnership for development (SOURCE http://www.unmillenniumproject.org/goals/index.htm). Fourteen years later, with just over a year left until the self imposed deadline, the question is Can the Millennium Development Goals be considered a success? I personally believe the MDGs to be a success in that, not only did they raise awareness and bring to light many serious issues that had made life in countries, such as those in Africa and other developing countries difficult or unbearable, less so; but they have implemented ways to remedy the problems that created unfair living ... • 9. Analysis Of The Book Honky By Dalton Conley Author and sociologist, Dalton Conley, is a Caucasian boy who grows up in a predominantly African American and Latino neighborhood in the Lower East Side of Manhattan during the 1970 s and 80 s. In his book, Honky, he tells us a unique view through a young boy s eyes uncovering the way in which individuals are perceived in social reality, and how some groups of people are classified. He also speaks about how some groups get better opportunities and privileges then others. This book is a very powerful autobiography, according to his book, written by, not your typical middle class white male. (prologue, p. xiii) He goes on to say that he is middle class, even though his parents didn t have any money and that he is a white boy, even though he grew up in an inner city housing project where mostly everyone was Black or Hispanic. Dalton speaks about his experience as a white boy exploring his definition of race and class and saying that, race and class are nothing more than a set of stories we tell ourselves to get through the world, to organize our reality. (prologue, p. xiv) He describes his childhood as a social science experiment, Find out what being middle class really means by raising a kid from a so called good family in a so called bad neighborhood. Monkey s Paw by Richard Connell is about a family getting the gift of a monkey s paw that holds three wishes and instead of heeding the warning of an old friend, they use the wishes for horrible consequences. The Most Dangerous Game follows the story of a young man who gets trapped on an island with a man called General Zaroff that hunts the unfortunate people who stumble across the island. How to transform is about an eighth grader who learns lessons about life as he practices playing basketball in an old gym. These stories have the motif of power and corruption throughout the story, and though this motif comes the theme of each short story. MERCURY TRANSIT SCARES THE WORLD About 13 times a century, Mercury passes between the Earth and the Sun. There was a theory floating around that suggested evil forces were at work during the Mercury transit. Apparently, with the aligning of the planets, other astronomical alignments occurred as well. Results Main Regression Results A key part of their findings was, in part, by looking at the different kinds of prices that consumers face when making a spending decision. In other words, they found that consumers spending reductions (responsiveness to the HDHP) was largely in part due to their more salient response to spot prices (defined as the fair marginal price at time of purchase) than to the products or services true shadow price (defined as the expected marginal end of year price). To determine which primary price resulted in the spending reductions, they conducted another regression analysis (Appendix 3). This finding ultimately explains why the well off, sickest quartile of employees reduce their spending the greatest, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the sickest quartile for one given year may or may not be the exact same sample for another given year. This quantile based approach also accounts for potential reversion to the mean. One specific robustness check the authors considered was to account for the group of employees (and their independents) that switched from the free health insurance plan to the complex non linear HDHP sooner than the actual enforcement of the policy change. They conducted a differences in differences approach to control for the effect of early switchers. Conclusion Bottom line Message of Paper Measuring the changes of health care spending is at the heart of health economics that aims to help policymakers and large employers alike in their search to optimally design and regulate the health insurance market. An optimal market such that it constrains the staggering growth of health care expenditures without significantly reducing the quality of health care consumed. Within the US, the authors find that the GDP has grown from about 5% to a confounding 17.4% in the past half century. Brot Goldberg et al. seems to implicitly warn that such demand side policy changes like the HDHP are likely to be counterproductive. The authors emphasize to their readers that the government needs to recognize the limit of cost sharing coverage plans and focus more on the supply side policies such as looking at how to properly ... Mental problems don t just destroy the individual, but the entire family. Until recently, we came across something known as delusions of persecution. We immediately started seeking for answers only to find out my great aunt, Maria de Jesus Carbajal de Marquez, has been suffering from delusions of persecution for the past three years. Never in a million years did we think that one of our family members would suffer from this mental disease. Whenever a person falsely believes they are being conspired against by others is called delusions of persecution. An example of delusions of persecution would be that the government is spying on an individual (e.g. tapping their phone lines) because they were wrongfully identified as a terrorist ( Specific Themes of Delusions ). There are four general types of delusions: bizarre delusions, non bizarre delusions, mood congruent delusions, and mood neutral delusions. Moreover, there are specific types of themes of delusions. These themes range from: control (believing another person is able to control your brain) to grandeur (believing that you are God) to mind reading (believing others can read your mind) ( Specific Themes of Delusion ). For example, delusions of persecution is a theme that has eight different types of sub themes: attacked, cheated, conspired against, followed, harassment, obstructed, poisoned, and spied upon, ( Specific Themes ... However, NIDS is going to face issues processing all packets in large virtual network and it may fail to detect attacks in time as SNORT is single threaded. Another solution that has been studied is Virtual Machine Introspection (VMI) based technique (Amna Riaz 2017). Virtual machine introspection (VMI) is the main idea behind out of box intrusion detection. VMI is a technique of inspecting VM state by moving the inspection module outside of the VM. The software running inside the guest system is analysed externally to detect any intrusion. One advantage of this technique is that malware detection continues to work unaffectedly even in the ... SURICATA is multi threaded and could resolve the performance issues and packet loss we face with the single thread IDS. Virtualization has made network management more challenging, and it s more and more difficult to consistently apply firewall and content filtering policies. When you add in complexities such as securing BYOD devices, the security problem is intensified. Software defined networking (SDN) is next evolving technology for the cloud computing. SDN is an umbrella term covering several kinds of network technology aimed at making the network as agile and flexible as the virtualized server and storage infrastructure of the modern data center. The SDN Controller provides a centralized system to manage the network. The network administrators are empowered by SDN to easily access and manage individual flows by facilitating them to implement monitoring applications, i.e., firewall and IDS. They also published an Ethics Rules and Policies statement that outlines the details about how business will be conducted regarding business funds, property, allocation of time, addressing conflicts of interest, recordkeeping and the handling of media inquiries (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Farrell, 2015). While those are all effective tools to manage what has happened in the past, the ARC will also need to ensure that they are not allowing anything to damage their reputation going forward. To do this, they will need to be diligent in their hiring practices; ensuring that they are following the same policy and procedures for each employee and that expectations are laid out regarding ethical behavior from the very beginning of employment. They will need to, at least yearly, revisit ethical responsibility topics with all employees to keep those skills fresh and on the forefront of everyone s mind. The Wire, also shows that Avon Braksdale, is an extremely smart businessman. He knows how to properly run his drug empire, delegate work to other people. He wakes up in a squatter s house, and starts to help several younger children get ready for school, pack their lunches, and see them off, as they walk out the door. We see here that Wallace is a parental role in the lives of these children, when he himself is still a child. This creates compassion for Wallace and forces viewers to see him on a deeper level, then simply a young drug dealer. Though the dam itself had good intentions, faulty engineering design, and bad construction ultimately led to the untimely collapse of the dam on March 12th, 1928. After extensive research by various local, state, and federal investigators, it was determined that engineers didn t take into account or didn t care for safety measures of the dam. Since the St. Francis Dam was so profitable, many people including non engineering personnel intentionally ignored the obvious early signs that the dam was going to collapse. Even some of these experiments had legitimate scientific purposes, the methods used violated the canons of medical ethics. Others were racial in nature, designed to advance Nazi racial theories. Most were simply bad science. Additionally, some believe there are major ethical problems with using the data collected in this unethical manner. In other words, the studios controlled every level of the marketplace from the top down, from production to exhibition. Therefore they generated 70% of the box office receipts. The majors ensured the profitability of their own theaters and controlled the independents by instituting a series of special distribution practices. These were known as block booking, blind bidding, runs, zones, and clearances. Block booking refers to the rental of films in large quantity. If exhibitors wanted to rent films, they have to rent the entire yearly output. And since they contracted with the distributors before the film has been made, the distributors were forced to bid for them without seeing them, a procedure called blind bidding. This way the studios could sell the bad pictures with good. As a result of the system the new films will be first rented to the first run theaters of which the majority was owned by the studios, and then its shown in the second run and sub run theaters after a clearance time of about 7 30 days (to renew demand). Distribution is also guided by a system of zones; only one theater in any particular area is allowed to show a new picture. Moreover, while the Western practice engages in purposeful process of conveyance to formulate such explicit correspondence between tenor and vehicle, the Chinese tradition is set apart by the spontaneous encounter that evokes the implicit correspondence between scene and feeling. This paper therefore looks into the use of scene and feeling in Chinese poetry and tenor and vehicle in Western poetry in relation to the metaphor with an effort to highlight their differences and application. Meanwhile, suburban legislators and Governor Thompson agree that we can t keep throwing money into a black hole (Kozol, 1988, p. 53). Ultimately, the education at public schools were thrown aside at the cost of enriching the lives of students in affluent schools. Within the two districts I researched, Dallas ISD and Highland Park ISD, I found that the gathered median income from Highland Park is four times that of Dallas ISD. Because of this, Dallas ISD students are forced to rely on the limited sources of educational materials which are reflected by the substantially different median income compared to Highland ISD. Additionally, racial divide amongst the two ISD s is astonishing. In Dallas ISD s only 5.1% of the student body is identified as white but Highland Park is 85.8%. Meanwhile, the other ethnicities for the two school districts have the percentages swapped. Having Highland ISD s black, Latino/Hispanic, Asian, or Pacific ethnicities just below the 15% margin and Dallas ISD s non white ethnicities soaring above 94%, the clear distinction of racial inequality among these two districts are evident. Comparing these percentages aligns to Kozol s evaluation of white overpopulation in affluent schools within different districts such as Highland ISD. In light of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This act entailed limiting welfare, reducing teenage pregnancy and helping welfare recipients finding employment (Gring Pemble, 2001). The author was interested in the discursive practices by which policy makers negotiate and create a given social reality, a powerful construction on which future legislative action is premised (Gring Pemble, 2001, p. 342). These discursive practices were focused on the depiction of welfare recipients and the actions, motives and objectives attributed to them, in order to uncover the rhetorical processes underlying the policy formation procedure. The article claims to advance the scholarly dialogue concerning the negotiation and construction of public policy as a rhetorical process beginning with bill proposals, congressional hearings and congressional debates (Gring Pemble, 2001, p. 342). There are several important implications that contribute to this scholarly dialogue. First of all, the function of depictions in policy creation is demonstrated. Social policy deliberations are anecdotal in nature because the depictions vivify problems that are difficult to quantify (Gring Pemble, 2001, p. 359). In depictive rhetoric, depictions imply narratives (Gring Pemble, 2001, p. 343).
