The patient underwent three sinus surgery procedures: polyp removal, maxillary antrostomy, and ethmoidectomy. Polyp removal involves lancing and removing benign nasal growths that cause breathing issues. Maxillary antrostomy widens the drainage tunnels from the maxillary sinuses below the eyes. Ethmoidectomy smashes up the honeycomb bones in the ethmoid sinuses between the eyes to create one large drainage cavity. While in risky areas near the optic nerve and brain, modern endoscopic techniques make nasal surgeries less complicated overall.
