My Identity Essay
Exploring the depths of one's identity and encapsulating it within the confines of an essay is
undoubtedly a formidable task. The challenge lies not only in the meticulous introspection
required but also in the articulation of one's complex self in a coherent and engaging manner.
Crafting a "My Identity Essay" demands a delicate balance between self-awareness and the
ability to convey the essence of one's identity to an audience.
To begin with, the process involves a deep dive into personal experiences, beliefs, and cultural
influences that shape one's identity. This introspective journey can be emotionally taxing as it
necessitates a candid examination of both triumphs and tribulations, forcing the writer to
confront aspects of their identity that may be uncomfortable or challenging to articulate.
Striking the right tone is crucial, as an overly introspective essay might become too self-
indulgent, while an overly guarded approach may lead to a superficial exploration.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to the structural and stylistic elements of the essay. Creating
a narrative that flows seamlessly, engages the reader, and conveys the nuances of one's identity
requires a refined writing skill set. The use of language becomes pivotal in translating personal
experiences into a relatable and compelling narrative. Struggling to find the right words or
fearing the essay may not accurately represent the complexity of one's identity can be a source of
frustration for the writer.
Moreover, the fear of judgment or misinterpretation can be a significant hurdle. Sharing personal
experiences and beliefs leaves one vulnerable to scrutiny, and the writer may grapple with the
question of how much to disclose. The balancing act between authenticity and self-preservation
can be mentally taxing.
In conclusion, writing a "My Identity Essay" is a demanding undertaking that requires
introspection, emotional resilience, and a high level of writing proficiency. It is a journey that
forces the writer to confront and communicate their essence with honesty and vulnerability.
However, as with any formidable task, the rewards lie in the self-discovery and the potential for
connection with others through shared human experiences.

Thomas Keller Accomplishments
Thomas Keller Research Paper April 14, 2011 Thomas Keller is a highly acclaimed,
wildly successful chef based in Yountville, California but operating throughout the
United States. He is a self made success in the culinary industry whose tenacious
pursuit of excellence and unwillingness to compromise has brought him from humble
origins to the top tier of American chefs and restaurateurs. He was born on October
14th, 1955 to a military family in Oceanside, CA at Camp Pendleton. Although born
in California, it was during his teenage years in Palm Beach, Florida where he first
became interested in cooking and got his start in the kitchen. During the summertime,
he would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one were only to measure the success of Chef Keller by his restaurants, he would
be highly regarded both for his talent in the kitchen as well as his skill as a leader.
Notwithstanding his success in the business world and how busy it has kept him,
he has nonetheless added even more to his list of achievements as the years have
gone by and his success and influence have grown. He has authored award winning
cookbooks such as The French Laundry Cookbook wherein he reveals the secrets
to the food that gained him his success as well as The Bouchon Cookbook which
he wrote alongside Bouchon Chef Jeffrey Cerciello. More popularly, he acted as a
consultant on the films Spanglish and Ratatouille . His restaurants have won
several accolades including top Michelin and Mobil ratings over the years.
However, Chef Keller has been recognized individually as well. In 2001, he was
recognized by Time magazine as the Best Chef in America . In 2003, Johnson Wales
University awarded him an honorary Degree of Doctor of Culinary Arts for his
contributions to the field. He has had consecutive Best Chef
Pierre Paul Broca s Analysis
Pierre Paul Broca revolutionized our modern understanding of the imperative role
neuronal lesions have in determining the functionality of an individual s speaking
abilities. Specifically, his greatest contribution relates to the locating of aphasia
within the cerebral cortex, and determining which region of the brainwas specialized
for producing articulate speech. Eventually classified as Broca s area (Page 75), it
exists upon the left frontal lobe, and predominately functions to regulate and
encourage speaking abilities. Healthy individuals typically exhibit normal
electrochemical impulses during audible and unintelligible episodes of
communication, but extensive traumatic brain injury or genetic abnormalities could

4 Year Old Research Paper
Another response from an unknown person says I don t have teenagers yet, but
watching my 8 10 year olds spend endless amounts of time on iPads during Spring
break makes me worried about the day hopefully years from now when they have
their own devices. This situation is actually accurate for me. Since I have a 4 year
old niece, I can definitely relate to what he or she is saying because I try not to let
my niece stay on the tablet all day long like she wants too. From age differences,
the statistics of what tweens and teens do differ as they get older and depending
on what activity it is. From the ages of 12 14, I would consider them as tweens or
preteens. In those ages, 81% are interested in playing sports while 68% of 15 17
year olds are interested in sports. The older a person gets, the less they want to be
included in sports or exercise. But, that may not always be the case. As a person
get older, they don t always stop doing what they were doing when they were
younger or as a teenager. I know a couple of people who still do the things they
were doing as they were younger. When it comes to teens and tweens going to the
mall or movies, teens of 15 17, has the highest percentage of both. 52% goes spend
their time at the movies and 56% spend their leisure time at the mall. Certain
activities depends on the age groups and the percentage of how... Show more content

ABSTRACT
Edith Wharton was a Pulitzer Prize winning female author whose writing style was
mainly affected by her aristocratic upbringing. Growing up Edith Wharton was
friends with former President Theodore Roosevelt. The two were often compared
and both were said to have been self made men . Edith Wharton s novels were often
critically acclaimed until Ethan Frome was published. The novel was said to be
cruel and violent by critics and casual readers. In my opinion, Edith Wharton s
Ethan Frome is a great book that reveals the harsh realities of failed relationships
hanging on by a thread combined with the struggle of being poverty stricken. For
my original piece, I will write a poem about Edith Wharton s failed marriage that
lasted 28 years, as if I were Edith Wharton after her divorce from Edward Wharton.
I chose to do a report on Edith Wharton because she was a female writer that
believed women were just as capable as men during a time when men were seen as
superior in every aspect to women, and also because she achieved much more than
most male writers of her time. I believe Edith Wharton s aristocratic upbringing had
the main effect on her writing style.

How I Changed My Life Forever
The one choice that changed my life forever was that our family emigrated from
Hong Kong to Canada in 1974. I was only seven years old. My Chinese name is Sau
Han and this is my immigration history. My family came to Canada for a job offer
but mainly it was for a better life. I had to leave behind many loving familymembers
in Hong Kong. We also left behind our old lives, furniture, car, apartment, and
friends. Our journey began when we hopped on a JAL (Japan airlines) jumbo jet
on a sixteen hour flight to Vancouver, British Columbia with a brief stop over in
Tokyo, Japan. Everything looked foreign to us on our arrival. What we hoped in
the future was to be able to learn English, to adapt to our foreign surroundings, to
settle down in our new home, and to go back to visit our friends and relatives in
Hong Kong. These challenges are just the first of many obstacles to be faced. This
immigration was not just a new beginning for my family but also a window of
opportunity for the next generation. We had an intriguing story of how we
immigrated to Canada. My family consisted of myself, my mom and dad, my older
brother, Chi Hung, my older sister, Sau Seng, and my younger brother, Chi Wai. We
lived in a descent three bedroom apartment in the New Territories, Hong Kong. On
November, 1973, I vividly remembered my dad s ex employer, Mr. Chow, called
long distance from Vancouver, Canada and offered my dad a dim sum chef position
in his restaurant, the Golden

пїјHuge amounts of data are collected nowadays from different application domains
and are not feasible to analyze all these data manually. Knowledge Discovery in
Databases (KDD) is the nontrivial process of identifying valid, novel, potentially
useful, and ultimately understandable patterns in data. In recent years, soft computing
became more and more attractive for the researchers, who work in the related
research field of data mining. This paper concerns primarily about how to use soft
computing model to extract knowledge from data mining (database). The data
mining preprocessing techniques have been applied on the available data to clean it
in proper form to extract the knowledge from the data. Thereafter, statistical analysis
and soft computing techniques have been applied on the clean data to select the
preferable model. The decision of the preferable model has to be achieved based on
the maximum number of minimum value of the parameters of residual analysis and
average error. The preferable model has been used to extract the knowledge from the
data mining. The goal of the
Cultural Issues In The Melting Pot
It is absolutely necessary that the people of this nation grasp the cultural, ethnic and
religious differences of the people that make up this nation and of the surrounding
nations. America since 1908 has been called The Melting Pot, a place where people
from diverse backgrounds can come and experience freedom. Long before Israel
Zangwillcoined the term Melting Pot, America has been a safe haven for immigrants
even as early as the 1600 s up until the present time. With all of the various cultures
that have come into America and continue to come, there must be an
understanding of each other and respect, without those two key things in place
there will not be peace. When you you see something totally different to you and
do not understand it most people respond in fear, fear leads to misjudgement and
spreading fallacies about that which is different from you. Their is no room for
mutual respect when fear is in the way. Fear is at the root of all racism. Just look at
how in Ancient times when Hebrews were slaves to the Egyptians, Pharaoh ordered
every firstborn be killed and thrown into the Nile. He worried that the Hebrews
would become too many and try to revolt. Because of his judgement many had to die.
As a nation we must move past these pre passed judgements to see the cultureand the
people that made that culture. The ultimate solution to solving conflict early on is to
prevent racism and misunderstandings within cultures and social groups is to have an

Bottled Water Case: Industrial Evolution
1. Describe the bottled water industry as presented in the case
a. Size in sales: In 2001, bottled water was among the world s most attractive
beverage categories, with global sales exceeding 32 billion gallons and annual
growth averaging nearly 9 percent between 1996 and 2001.
b. Projected growth: U.S. per capita consumption had grown to nearly 20 gallons a
year by 2001 and was expected to grow to 26 gallons a year by 2005
c. Number of Competitors: Both the global and U.S. bottled water markets had
become dominated by a few international food and beverage producers like Coca
Cola, PepsiCo, NestlГ©, and Groupe Danone, but they also included many small
regional sellers that were required to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bottled water consumption and sales have been increasing exponentially since its
emergence as a widely accepted commercial beverage category. The bottled water
industry is now growing at 8% to 10% annually about twice as fast as other
beverages. In fact, in 2003 bottled water became the second largest commercial
beverage category by volume in the United States, surpassing milk, coffee, beer, and
is now second only to carbonated soft drinks.
d. Demographics (what is the industry s focus customer) Another significant trend is
product marketing and packaging. Realizing that consumers cite taste, quality, and
purity as the top reasons for drinking bottled water, bottlers market and design bottles
to display their purity. Other manufacturers seek to carve out a new level in the
bottled water industry introducing high end products. Another packaging trend in the
bottled water industry is multi packs. As current bottled water consumption grows,
more consumers are turning to multi packs to save time and money.
e. Governmental rule (tightly restricted, loose enough to give industry room to grow
/compete.) Bottled water producers in the United States were required to meet the
standards of both the EPA and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Like
all food and beverage products sold in the United States, bottled water was subject to
such food safety and labeling requirements as nutritional labeling provisions and

A Day In The Life Of Gulliver Rhetorical Devices
Petty, vindictive, cruel, ill informed, egotistical, these are just a few words that come
to mind when describing the Lilliputians attitude in their massive world. At the
beginning of the story the capturing of the mountain man is understandable due to his
enormity and their incomprehension on the situation. However, their ridicule of
Gulliver and enslavement of him, forcing him to do what they want in order for him
to get his freedom, is completely inhumane despite his benefits to their society. The
irony of the situation is that he can leave and overpower their whole community at
any time, but Gulliver is a good person and is abiding to the rules imposed upon him
by the people of Lilliput. Swift chooses to portray Lilliputians in an extremely
negative light and at the end of the story they have not changed for the better, but
have become even more petty, vindictive, and cruel.... Show more content on

However, a once protective measure turned into an abuse of power when the
Lilliputians realized Gulliver could benefit society in ways they could never have
imagined. This is an act of enslavement by the Lilliputians as once they realized
Gulliver wasn t a threat they should have let him go and make his own decisions...
but they didn t. Instead they negotiated obscure contracts that made Gulliver a
victim of enslavement to this small world. Not only was he a slave to the
Lilliputians, but also to himself and his morals, as he could have easily destroyed the
world and left at any time, but instead chose to

What this article is about is the ticket sales and the secondary prices in two of
college football postseason games. The two games that they are focused on is the
2014 Rose bowl which was the game between Stanford and Michigan State and the
BCS Championship game between Auburn and Florida State. In between one week
worth of action the Rose Bowl and the BCS Championship game was played. The
main things in this article that they were looking for is distance traveled and
sightlines for seating can raise the ticket prices for a collegefootballgame. In the
introduction of this article they talk about inelastic ticket pricing and how behavior
is not counted for maximizing profit. This is before the 4 team playoff system

North Dakota State, San Diego St, etc. Those three teams that I just name all have
good football team but if they have to go across country to go watch postseason

Watching Kung Fu Panda Three Times
MOM! It s not fair! My youngest child yelled again. Alex continued with his
exasperated three year old logic, AJ got to watch Kung Fu Panda three times, and I
only got to see it twice last night! (A. G. Neff, personal communication, October 4,
2012). The consternation arose from my insistence that a different movie should
be viewed other than the same one that had been continually playing on the
television set for the previous three days. My children always love repeat
performances, and ever since I had pulled the DVD out of the moving boxes and
told them I needed to watch it as part of my own homework, it was as if no other
film would satisfy (Cobb, Stevenson Osborne, 2008). My five year old recognized
that I would not allow another viewing without a change in tactics. But Mom, if
you don t watch it again you won t be able to do your homework. You won t know
that Po s Dad [Note: according to the movie transcript Po s Dad is the character s
actual name] isn t even a panda! (Aibel Berger, 2008, p. 3). Without explaining that
I had already familiar with the situation because I had seen the movie no less than
three times in the previous 72 hours, I replied, Is that really important? YES! They
both yelled back. AJ unwittingly enlightened me, All the animals are different, but
they re ALL important! They all have to do different stuff to help Po be[come] the

Seven Sins Of Memory Essay
Have you ever had a word on the tip of your tongue but just cannot seem to grasp
the entire word, only remembering as little as the first letter? This happens to
many people and is actually one of The Seven Sins of Memory . Blocking is when
the brain tries to obtain information, but another memory interferes with it and is the
main cause of tip of the tongue phenomenon. The sound of the word is programmed
in the brain apart from where its meaning is. Therefore, when you are attempting to
figure out a word but cannot seem to remember it, it is most likely because the links
between each other are weak. A person can remember everything about this word
and its meaning, but will not be capable of getting it out. In addition, this mostly
happens when we are searching for a word we do not often use. There are many
times when a person actually mentions something to one of their friends but
remembers saying it to someone else, which is called misattribution. Misattribution is
when a person unknowingly transfers memories to an incorrect source or believes
that they have seen or heard something they really haven t. Psychologists have
discovered that the brain has created a binding error and this is the main cause of

Sharon Begley mentions, Memories that refuse to fade tend to involve regret, trauma
and other potent negative emotions. All emotions strengthen a memory, but negative
ones seem to write on the brain in indelible ink (pg 3). Persistence are these
unwanted memories that we just cannot seem to forget. For example, you get in a
horrible accident and cut open your arm. Months after the accident, the haunted
memory of what your arm looked like and the pain you felt can never leave your
head even though you want it to. These memories do not always have to be negative,
but for the most part, they are. Persistent memories can be as simple as a song being

Descriptive Essay On Skateboard
Mom, do you know where my skateboard is? I yelled from my room. I checked in the
backyard, but I couldn t find it!
Check the garage, Alex, my mom shouted back.
Fine! I responded. My footsteps trudged to the darkness of the garage. Unfortunately,
the garage held only our battered car, so I ran outside to look for the board.
After what seemed like years, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed four wheeled
skateboard running down the street. My heart beat as fast as Usain Bolt in the 100
meter dash when thoughts about the consequences of losing my skateboard
popped into my brain. Months of yard work would be wasted if my skateboard
dropped into the vastness of the sewer. I sprinted towards the ombre blue wheels
and quickly scooped it up into my hands. My face lit up as I jumped on my
skateboard. My hair blew in the wind and my Vans pressed against the checkered
skateboard. My blood pumped with excitement. Today was going to be a relaxing
and fun day.
When I got to the park, I hopped off the skateboard from the sidewalk, but it ended
up rolling behind me. Before I knew it, I could no longer hear the sounds of it
rolling. I turned around to pick up the skateboard, but it was nowhere to be found. I
pushed through dogs who barked and people who shouted, but it didn t matter. I
needed to find my skateboard and get it back.
Wait, I thought. The most obvious place someone would take the skateboard came to
me. My footsteps were light as I sprinted across the park towards the
Essay Books Should Be Banned
Every year, an event called Banned Book Week calls to attention the list of books
removed, or banned from school libraries and classrooms. An organization known as
the American Library Association, or the ALA, holds this event to celebrate the
constitutional right to access reading material (Censorship). These books, many
times, are called to attention for their sexual content, explicit language use, or
controversial topics discussed. Books should never be restricted for children by
anyone but their own parents, and no school board, PTA board, or community should
be able to stop a child from learning and pursuing knowledge. Banning books, instead
of protecting a child from harmful content, would marginalize their way of thought
and restrict them from new ways of thinking or ideas. Explicit language and sex are a
big reason parents want to restrict books for their children, deeming the content unfit
for their child. [a]ny book with content that does not meet the moral... Show more

Hate teaches us. Genocide teaches us. Murder, rape, depression, suicide, racism,
slavery, all of them have something for us to learn from, despite it not making
anyone any happier. Even books such as Mein Kampf, which promotes hate, is a
lesson learned; how seemingly genuine concerns of national security and wanting
the best for your country can be warped and taken advantage of. This horrible book
shows how exactly a nation can follow a regime built entirely upon hate, and that in
itself, is a fact that must be remembered, so no other country may follow this trail of

Holmes’ Method of Madness
A detail is defined as an individual feature, fact, or item, in The Hound of the
Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson have
to use details to investigate the curse of the Baskervilles. Detectives Sherlock
Holmes and Watson have an amazing attention to detail, however, sometimes they
struggle with what is important; Holmes and Watson have to decide what is
pertinent information, keep their minds on track, and be able to do both of those
in order to solve the Baskerville case. To begin, detectives need evidence to piece
together a crime, but determining what is evidence and what s not is the most
difficult part of solving a case. There is a method, however, for figuring out whether
a clue may be used in the case or not. This method is part of Holmes method, the
scientific method, where the investigation follows the process of: observing,
speculating, deducting and making inferences about the crime. During the step of
observing, every detail is taken in, even the most irrelevant details, which allow the
investigators to make sure that they have all the information needed to solve their
case. Next comes the hardest part, a clump of the last three steps, involving the
process of analyzing every single detail a case has, speculating its place in the case
and deducting the information if it doesn t fit to the speculated case. Eventually,
those logical speculations that fit the case are formed into inferences, which are used
to investigate the case

ABSTRACT
Reading this paper will give you a better understanding of what causes a tornado and
the shear destructive power of tornadoes. It will also touch on some of the safety
precaution involved in a tornado from sirens to getting to safety. So what does cause
a tornado and the effect they have?

destructive funnel shaped rotating column of air that passes in a narrow path over land

WHAT CAUSES A TORNADO AND THE EFFECT THEY HAVE
First the public is taught to recognize the environmental clues such as dark, often
greenish sky, wall clouds, large hail, and loud roaring sound like a train. The
National Weather Service broadcasts watches and warnings for tornadoes as well as
for thunderstorms. The civil defense sirens are sounded at night in conjuction with
the warnings when everyone is asleep because they may not aware of the watches or
warnings, if the town has them.
Some other effects of these monsters are that people loose their houses and properties
and for some without insurance it is total devastation. There are many effects due to
tornadoes and way too many to go into on this short paper.
WHAT CAUSES A TORNADO AND THE EFFECT THEY HAVE
CONCLUSION
The effects of tornadoes are slight to major destruction and the cost can be very
high up to the loss of life. Prepare yourself, have a plan to escape to safety. If you
are in a tornado prone area then you might want to get a weather radio that has a
siren to warn of impending activity.

Also, when looking at the filtrate values under the short wavelength, a value of 0.44
appears to hint at the existence of the cis, trans isomer which has a literature value of

being that the value of 0.28 belongs to the oxide, the 0.36 to the trans, trans, and the
0.44 to the cis,trans.
An NMR spectrum was also taken for our product sample which was close to the
ideal but was a little off. Ideally there should be five peaks for the five chemical
shifts from the five hydrogen groups on the product structure. The first peak
should occur in the mid six ppm and can be described as a quartet. The second peak
should occur at a ppm in the high 6s and should be another quartet. The third peak
should be a triplet occurring at a low 7ppm. The fourth peak should be close by to
the third, being another triplet. Finally, the fifth peak should be a doublet
occurring at a mid 7ppm. The ppms for the ideal and the actual differ greatly in the
fact that they span from approximately 5.3 6.25 instead of the ideal 6.5 7.5. It is
fact that chemical shifts caused by benzene rings occur in the 6 to 8 ppm range, thus
the nmr we received as a result can be somewhat doubted.. Ideally the first and
second peaks should be a result of the hydrogens furthest away from the rings and the

people have their own opinions as to what kind of boss it is that they would like to
work for. Most would probably agree that the worst kind of boss is a new boss.
This is more than likely due to people s extraordinary fear of change and the
unknown. Whatever the reason, the employee always has the option to leave their
position and seek work elsewhere. The same can not be said for subjects of states,
who by no action of their own, were to be ruled by a new prince. Just as varied as the
ways in which one inherits a new boss, likewise new principalities have an
abundance of ways of being acquired. Niccolo ... Show more content on

Adding fuel to an already explosive situation, by making changes to company
policy should be avoided at all costs. However, as Machiavelli suggests that a boss
by birth [has] less need to harm his[/her] employees, thus putting some of the fears
towards the new boss to rest (8).
When a principality is acquired through an acquisition of a non hostile nature, it is the
prince who may have fears. The prince of a mixed principality faces more difficulties
than those of a hereditary principality. Machiavelli suggests that these difficulties
derive from one natural problem inherent in all new principalities: men gladly change
their masters, thinking to better themselves (8). Additionally, the new prince is, out
of necessity, going to offend his new subjects by bringing in his soldiers and
[causing] other countless injuries that are involved in his new conquest (8). These
same problems will face the management of a newly acquired business. Those
employees that are retained will automatically look to better their current position by
less than honest means. Those left over from the old regime may be inclined to steal
from the company out of fear that they may soon be replaced. Thus, endangering the
already financially unstable situation that an acquisition puts a company in.
Therefore, measures must be taken to ensure that the state/company not be lost due to
an uprising by the

After detecting a major threat in Windows OS, Microsoft generally releases a patch
that can fix the problem and it can take more than 2/3 months. In case of Linux,
threat detection and solution is very fast.
Examples
Windows 8, 8.1, 7, Vista, XP
Ubuntu, Fedora, Red Hat, Debian, Arch Linux, Android, Peach OSI etc.[4]

Professionalism Of Teaching And Learning
EDFD Assignment one:
Professionalism in Teaching and Learning.
800 words.
The profession of teaching warrants the attributes of the individual educator to carry
themselves in a professional manner at all times. This notion has been evident to me
since my own education in my early years of primary school and has developed in
depth since studying the industry. I view teachers as professionals and it has always
been my understanding that teachers have a duty of care to their students and
rightfully must create support and safe environments for their students (Matulic
Keller,p.3,2011).
The Australian Institute for teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) was
implemented in 2010 for teachers to establish standards that would help advance
and support their learning throughout their careers. The standards allow educators
and pre service to be aware of what is expected of them and how they can address
areas that need attention. In doing so ensures teachers are covering all aspects of the
standards needed to progress to the following phase.**
Area three of AITSL discusses Professional practice, Plan for and implement effective
teaching and learning . Through my studies it has been embedded in my own
teaching philosophy and professionalism as an educator that planning is a crucial
aspect of teaching. Planning lessons require knowledge of the curriculum,
pedagogical studies and understanding, and enable teaching intentions to be
successful (Sangster,p.12,2005). Throughout my

F1 Racing
Formula racing is a term that refers to various forms of open wheeled single seater
motorsport. Its origin lies in the nomenclature that was adopted by theFIA for all of
its post World War II single seater regulations, or formulae. The best known of these
formulæ are Formula One, Formula Two, and Formula Three. Common usage of
formula racing encompasses other single seater series, including the GP2 Series,
which replaced Formula 3000 (which had itself been the effective replacement for
Formula Two).
Categories such as Formula Three and GP2 are described as feeder formulæ, which
refers to their position below Formula One on the career ladder of single seater motor
racing. There are two primary forms of racing formula: the open formula ... Show

A Qualifying session is held after the last free practice session. This session
determines the starting order for the race.[43][44]
[edit]Qualifying
A typical pitwall control centre, from which the team managers and strategists
communicate with their drivers and engineers over the course of a testing session or
a race weekend.
For much of the sport s history, qualifying sessions differed little from practice
sessions; drivers would have one or more entire sessions in which to attempt to set
their fastest time, sometimes within a limited number of attempts, with the grid
order determined by each driver s best single lap, fastest (on pole position) to slowest.
Grids were limited to the fastest 26 cars and drivers had to lap within 107% of the
pole sitter s time to qualify for the race; the 107% rule (as it is commonly known)
was re introduced for 2011. Other formats have included Friday pre qualifying, and
sessions in which each driver was allowed only one qualifying lap, run separately in
a predetermined order.
The current qualifying system was adopted for the 2006 season. Known as knock
out qualifying, it is split into three periods (or rounds). In each period, drivers run
qualifying laps to attempt to advance to the next period, running as many laps as
they wish, with the slowest drivers being knocked out at the end of the period and
their grid positions set, based on their
The Lake House
Pulling up to the lake house, I looked over at my older sister, Clara, who was busy
staring through the window of the old truck. Every year, my Dad s whole side of
the family stays together for a week every summer. Ever since I can remember, we
ve stayed at this huge, old lake house in Columbia, South Carolina. Clara and I hate
being here. Strange things happen in this house... plates fall out 5432wqof
cabinets and voices echo in the house throughout the night. Nevertheless, my
grandparents still loved coming here and made us visit every year. Clara, my Dad,
and I are the last ones to arrive because our flight from Chicago was overlaid two
hours. I missed Chicago already, the constant buzz of people and the bright lights.
Walking up to the house, everything felt the same as it always did. The humidity is
choking, making it hard to breathe. The sun is blinding and the temperature is
somewhere in the 90 s, as to be expected late July in South Carolina. The lake
smells like dead fish. Always, no matter what. We walked up the old, wooden
stairs. The light blue paint was chipping off the door, and the door itself looked
like it was about to fall of the hinges. Clara let herself in, pulling her lime suitcase
behind her. My two little cousins, Reagan and Matthew, immediately saw her and
squealed with joy. Everyone loved Clara, her bubbly personality easy to get along
with. No one, on the other hand, was ever excited to see me. I was the quiet one,

flying. But after flying we go to the park and the The Stovepipe Wells Village Hotel

Stovepipe Wells Village Hotel is located in the heart of Death Valley with a great spot

million acres. The park does feel very large especially with how hot and dry it can
feel, it has gotten up to 136 degrees fahrenheit in 2012. The average high
temperature is an amazing 117 degrees Fahrenheit with a not so low of 88 degrees
fahrenheit, the month of June is not very cold. The coldest month is December
with a high of 65 and a low of 38 degrees fahrenheit. But it is a hot June day with the
temperature at around 110 degrees so it s not too hot for Death Valley. As we
continue on in our fantastic and cool car with air conditioning, we see the heat
coming up from the desert land. While we are driving through the lowest part in
the content at 282 feet below sea level, we see 3 coyotes. Coyotes, desert bighorns,
bobcats, mountain lions and mule deer can be seen in Death Valley National Park.
The coyotes could not do much because we were safe in our wonderfully air

The Cave of the Thousand Treasures What would you do if you found a cave with
thousands of treasures? Would you share it with other people? Would you hide it
from everyone? In The Cave of the Thousand Treasures, an old man finds a cave
with thousands of jewels and treasures. He becomes very greedy, and bad things
start to happen. The only way to stop these bad things is for the man to change his
ways and become nicer and less greedy. He has to share his treasures with other
people to have a fuller heart again. The theme of greediness is developed
throughout the story. In the beginning of the story, the old man is nice and has a big
heart, but once he finds the treasure and has all of the jewels and money he could

Melting Pot Vs Salad Bowl
Society has a stigma of having to put things into categories in order to have a better
understanding and approach to life. Due to this need to categorize, the concept of the
salad bowl and the melting pot emerged. These theories are approaches of how
cultures are represented within a nation. The United Statesis a nation made up of
immigrants. Over generations these immigrants have decided to either abandon their
cultureand assimilate to the American society or wear their heritage with pride and
embrace their values, therefore brings up the infamous debate whether the United
States is a salad bowl or a melting potThe melting pot can be described as a fusion
of various religions, nationalities, and ethnic groups into one distinct people. Also it
can describe a society in which immigrants who have different cultural backgrounds
need to adapt to a new culture, and only one culture can be accepted. Usually the
racial and ethnic backgrounds almost disappear. This concept was coined by an
immigrant Israel Zangwill that encourages newcomers to assimilate into the
American culture. The other side of the approach is the salad bowl theory. The salad
bowl can be described as a society where different cultures are brought together (like
salad ingredients), but do not form together into a homogeneous culture. This means
each culture keeps its own unique traditions and rituals and aren t stripped by their
differences. No piece of the salad is being thrown out, but more
Relationship Between Coaches And Coaches
Relationships between Players and Coaches
According to ESPN, 61 percent of boys and 34 percent of girls say that sports are a
big part of who they are. Additionally, there are over 21 million kids between the
ages of 6 and 17 that play sports (Kelley). This enormous number not only represents
children playing a sport but it also represents something that each of those kids have
in common: they each have a coach. There are three key things involved in every
sport: the players, the competition, and the coaches. Each of these parts of the
sport are important and necessary. Sports are not only a great way to exercise and
keep fit, but they also teach kids a lot of important qualities that they will need to be
successful for the rest of their lives. They teach them how to exercise, how to
compete, how to work on a team, how to work toward a goal, and how to develop
and manage relationships. No relationship, however, is more important than that
between a coach and his/her player. A coach can be a player s role model and
inspiration but, unfortunately, a coach can also be a player s work enemy and can
ruin a sport for an athlete. Likewise, a player can either make a season enjoyable
for his/her coach or can make the season miserable. I will explore the importance of
the relationship between coaches and players and the effect that it can have on both
parties.
The relationship that a player has with his/her coach is many times underestimated in
how important it truly is.
Natural Radiation Research Paper
Natural radiation is the radiation provided from natural occurring substances such as
the sun s UV rays and the earth s crust. Natural radiation includes elements such as
Uranium and Radium. Artificial radiation is synthesised (man made) in ways such as
bombarding a stable nucleus of an element with energyto create radioisotopes. This
man made radiation includes substances such as nuclear power.
Electromagnetic radiation which includes waves such as radio waves, microwaves
and visible light. Theses waves all fall under the same spectrum known as the
electromagnetic spectrum. Electromagnetic waves occur when orbital transitions take
place such as ionization and excitation and can produce radiation such as
characteristic x rays and Auger electrons. Particulate radiation is radiation that is
made from fast moving particles also known as a particle beams. Some examples of
particulate radiation are alpha and beta particles. Particles have mass unlike photons
in electromagnetic radiation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The relationship between gamma photon energy and frequency is that gamma photon
energy is directly proportionate to frequency. B) The relationship between
wavelength and frequency is that when wavelength increases, frequency decreases.
Frequency measure how many waves pass in one second, if the wavelength is larger,
than the number of waves passing per second would be less due to longer amount of
time one wave takes to pass completely. Wavelength is inversely proportionate to
frequency.
The difference between x ray and gamma rays are their wavelength. X rays have a
wavelength of 10 9 m 10 11 m while gamma ray s wavelengths vary from 10 12 m
10 14m. Gamma and x rays also have different origins. Gamma rays originate in the
nucleus while x rays come from the electromagnetic field surrounding the
Dramatic Functions of Inspector Goole in An Inspector...
Dramatic Functions of Inspector Goole in An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley
In the play An Inspector Calls, a message is being portrayed to the reader by J. B
Priestley and in my opinion, the main bearer of this message is the inspector. Being
of an ambiguous nature, he appears to live in a different world to the family with
whom he deals; the Birlings and it is his dramatic function in the play that I shall be
analysing.
Firstly, we have the Stage Instructions to consider. Throughout the play, there is no
mention of Inspector Goole s physical appearance except in the first set of stage
instructions when he enters the Birlings house. He is said to need not be a big man
but he creates at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another important issue is the way in which Priestley has structured the play. As
Inspector Goole is questioning the members of the household, Priestley has made
sure it is obvious that there is a certain order in which they must questioned. When
Gerald asks to see the picture the inspector says, hold on, your time will come and
one line of inquiry at a time This shows he has already planned out whom he will
speak to first and last and what information he will have. Due to the fact he already
knows that each of them holds a key to Eva Smith s death, it is likely he could be a
time traveller travelling back in time to punish the Birlings and make them realize the
consequences of their actions.
The dialogue from the other characters also helps us to comprehend the role of
Inspector Goole in An Inspector Calls. I especially think this is achieved by Mrs.
Birlings views on Eva Smith towards the end of the play, she thinks of Miss Smith a
an impertinent child and apparently. was giving herself ridiculous airs… that
were simply absurd for a child in her position. This signifies that Mrs. Birling does
not think highly of the girl and bearing in mind the social and historical context of this

Bob is a male nickname or occasionally a given name, most common in English
speaking countries such as the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom,
Australia, and New Zealand. It most likely originated from the nickname Rob,

Hob, Dob, Nob, or Bob.[1][2]
While it is impossible to count the popularity of Bob as a nickname, in 1960 nearly
3,000 babies in the United States were given the name Bob compared to fewer than

Foolishness In Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
In the play Twelfth Night, Shakespeare displays the common theme of foolishness
throughout his play through his characters actions, behaviors, and words; while
doing this he creates a diversified spectrum of foolery that can be witnessed through
dramatic irony, indirect characterization, and dialogue that reinforces the idea behind
certain jocose, satirical events within the lives of the characters in the play. During
the play, Malvolio believes a secret, romantic letter has been personally written to
him by the countess Olivia addressing her passionate desire for his love. Without his
knowledge the letter has actually been written by the servant Maria to teach him a
profound lesson about the ways of selfiness and self love. This causes the others
including: Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, and Fabian to despise him and his churlish
disposition. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After hearing a insult by Malvolio in which he calls him a foolish knight we get
Sir Andrew s immediate response, I knew twas I, for many do call me fool

to hide his stupidity. He did not pick up on Malvolio s rudeness, instead he
automatically agreed with him, admitting to all the other characters that he gets
called a fool on a regular basis. This in general establishes him as a natural fool in
relation to the overall theme Shakespeare s uses in his play. His intentional lack of
intelligence was done on purpose to provide the audience a idea behind the
complete embodiment on what a fool really is. Unlike the other common characters
in the play, Sir Andrew lacks quick wit and common sense which shows he is a
complete folly to the group. This overall causes his character not to be taken serious
at all because of the stereotypical lack of intelligence he shows when he
communicates with the other characters in the
The Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico
Principles Environmental Science Introduction Rig of the drilling Deep water
Horizon operated under British petroleum failed in its operation sinking below the
seawater of the Gulf of Mexico on the 20th of April 2010. More than 11 workers
lost their lives. After this incident, tons and tons of oil gushed from the main
opening of the well, buried 1600 meters below the sea level. Necessary steps have
been taken to take control on the spill but still there is much to handle when it comes
to the consistent danger being faced by the environment. The main culprit ingredient
of the incident is the petroleum posing a number of disastrous effects to the
environment. Types of Air and Water Pollutants Fresh oil present on the surface of
the Gulf of Mexico being the primary pollutant evaporates in the air. This oil is
broken down into tiny particles called the aerosols, which are designated to be the
secondary pollutants. The aerosols that include certain classes of hydrocarbons are
not easily broken down hence remaining in the air. Other than the aerosols, a
significant amount of alkyl nitrates, hexane, methane, and butane compounds have
been identified in the air which along with the aerosols are skin irritants and can
cause dizziness (Landau, 2011, p. 67). Aerosols have been related to lung cancers.
Surprisingly, the concentration of these compounds in the air is much higher when
compared to the highly polluted environments of Los Angeles, Oklahoma and
Mexico. The oil
The Main Health Issues Of John Ryan
This essay critically examines the main health issues of John Ryan. Recent referral
from a health care team have heightened the need for John Ryan to the community
nurse to do a home visit for an initial assessment and review. So, as my first visit to
John as a community health nurse it is my role to integrate several nursing skills
which includes assessements, carry out direct care, educate John, encourage health
improvements and work together with other health care professionals to advance
health. (reference here). This essay has been divided into four parts. The first part
gives a brief overview of the current health history of John Ryan focusing particularly
on the most current issues of his deteriorating health. The second part focuses and
discuss on the priorities that will need to undertake as part of the initial home visit
which include assessments, and therapeutic interventions, followed by the rationale
reason of the mentioned priorities. After examining the priorities of the visit, the
third part of this essay will critically evaluate a range of management strategy for

In this manner, mar riot can attract additional capital that gives it an opportunity to

can be of great benefit as it is a good way of saving on taxes.

How does Marriott use its estimate of its cost of capital? Does this make sense?
a) Discounted cash flows from the projects by the suitable division of a hurdle rate to
get the net present value which financially makes sense since risks among different
divisions do vary.
b) Another method is through incorporation of the hurdle rate in the compensation
policy which in sense does not make sense since the rate does reflect risks of
different activities and not managers performance.
3. What is the weighted average cost of capital for Marriott Corporation?
Marriot Corporation measures the opportunity cost of the cost of capital for the
investments using the weighted average cost of capital for similar investments that
have the same risk. The WACC for the corporation is 11.89%.
a)What risk free rate and the risk premium did you use to calculate the cost of equity?
For the purposes of risk premium consistency, the arithmetic average was most
applicable to the historic US government bonds of 4.58% for the longest period
because of its accurate estimate.
The risk premium used is 7.43% though it seems to be high, low free rate

matches its operational profile. Beta 1.17 ke = (4.58%+1.17) =

Beastie Boys Research Paper
When I first browsed through the different topics on which we were to write

skimming through all the bands and artists I know and love, I knew there would be
no problem writing this essay. I firmly believe that I was born in the wrong
generation of musicbecause I am a hardcore oldies junkie at heart. For this reason, the
bands I have selected are as follows: The Beastie Boys, Fleetwood Mac, The Police,
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash, and The Righteous Brothers.
One of the main reasons why I adore the Beastie Boys like many others is because
of their care free energetic aura that they mix together with captivating sounds
discretely concealing rhetorical puns. What makes them especially unique to me is

Although you could say I am partly biased due to the fact that he was born and
raised in the great state of Arkansas. Nonetheless, his music is loved by people all
over the country for several reasons. For example, probably the biggest reason why
people loved Johnny Cash is because of his humble personality which caused all of
his songs to feel very down to earth which related to a multitude of people from all
classes. From experiencing many struggles in his own life, Cash was able to
translate his own emotions and thoughts into lyrics with rhythmic beats that attracted
the average individual who shared the same feelings. Even though I am not able to
see him in concert since he passed away, listening to his live recorded songs makes
me realize that the rock and roll icon still lives through the music he poured his life
Regeneration
There are at least two ways to answer this question. One way is to argue that
Regeneration is not an anti war novel. First, because the work is historical fiction,
we might assert that it was necessary for Barker to include Sassoon s protest against
the war as an important facet of his character, but that his protest is not central to the
novel. Second, as the narrator does not play an intrusive role in the story, there is no
overarching judgment of the occurrences and events that carries a didactic anti war
tone. Third, in the characters observations there is most definitely a condemnation of
well known pacifists like Bertrand Russelland Ottoline Morrell. Finally, we may
argue that Regeneration is not an anti war novel because it... Show more content on

This topic resurfaces throughout the novel. Sassoon remembers the young boy in the
bed next to him who has been castrated on the battlefield. Anderson dreams he is tied
up with corsets. Prior recalls his weakness against his father and the influence of his
mother. Sassoon mentions to Rivers the topic of homosexuality and the idea of an
intermediate sex. Rivers reflects on the feminine: nature of healing and caring for one
another on the battlefield.
The motif of emasculation signals the powerlessness the men feel when confronted
with the shocking reality of war. Although they try to do the ostensibly manly thing
by enlisting in the war and fighting for their country, they must face society s
judgment that it is decidedly unmanly to suffer a breakdown from their war
experience. In the hospital, Rivers s method of treatment involves further unmanly
actions, as the patients are forced to release their emotions and discuss their feelings.
Willard is so opposed to the unmanliness of his situation that he refuses to believe he
has anything other than a physical problem. Yet, Rivers achieves results in a
sympathetic manner; he helps his patients to improve and lead a normal life once
again. Through further emasculation the patients are able to improve. Ultimately, the
motif of emasculation in the novel challenges the traditional notion of manliness.

The Renaissance Style Of Art
Throughout prehistory and history, there have been a variety of art types or styles,
from the first Stone Age cave drawings through the current focus on Postmodernism
and Deconstruction. Different locations and different times create distinct flavors of
art. The Renaissance style of art dates roughly to the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries,
starting in Italyand spreading throughout Europe. And just like many previous and
subsequent art styles, Renaissanceart was birthed from a prior art style Medieval. The
shift from Medieval to Renaissance was profound in both style and form, as well as in
the distinctions that came to the artists. There are many Renaissance artists from that
time that quickly come to mind: Botticelli, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
But the artist that truly encompasses all that comprised the Renaissance is Leonardo
da Vinci.
Before we dive too deeply into da Vinci s contributions, some context is necessary.
A basic definition of the Renaissance would be that of a rebirth or revival. It was a
time of discovery, science, and a new appreciation of the arts. It was a drastic turn
from the prior centuries that are often characterized as the Dark Ages; the time after
the fall of Rome during the fifth century through the fourteenth century. In reference
to art, the Middle Ages focused almost solely on religion as the theme for artwork. Art
from this time is reminiscent of the Egyptian style, especially in the earlier centuries,

Meaning Of The Song Beasts Of England
When writing a song, the song writer puts certain meanings behind specific words.
When people read a song without the rhythm, they can put two and two together of
what the meaning behind it is supposed to be. Each song has a different meanings
and passions behind the words. In the song Beasts of England , the meaning is very
on the spot. Even though the meaning of the whole song is very blunt, it does not
mean that in every stanza, that the meaning is as open. In the first stanza, the
meaning is very well spoken. The animals are being referred to as beasts, so when
they say, Beasts of England, beasts of Ireland, Beasts of every land and clime,
Hearken to my joyful tidings, Of the golden future time (Orwell), they mean that the
animals all around the world will all pay full attention, to make the rebellion
successful. This is the start of the song, and the animals put the meaning of the start
of the rebellion. The next stanza of the song sparks imagery. When they say,... Show

In the third stanza, people can feel the passion behind the voices. When the animals
say, Rings will vanish from our noses, And the harnesses from our back, Bit and
spur shall rust forever, And cruel whips no more shall crack (Orwell), people will be
able to feel the passion and strength that the animals have for the rebellion. The
definition of passion is not only heartfelt, but it also means feeling strongly, or
stubborn, so when the animals are singing this stanza they are putting out there how
strongly they really feel, or how important this is to them.

The End Of Feudalism In Europe
Many events in Europe lead to the decline of feudalism and the rise in democratic
thought. First, the Magna Carta and the Model Parliament helped to give everyone
more rights which created equality, and gave everyone a voice in government. Next,
the Hundred Years War also helped to push peasants to war who wanted to fight.
This then created a shortage of workers. Last, the Bubonic Plague also assisted in
creating a rise of democratic thought and the end of feudalism. In my opinion, the
Magna Carta, Model Parliament, the Hundred Years War, and the Bubonic Plague
were all contributing factors to the rise in democratic thought and the ending of
feudalism. To begin, the Hundred Years war largely affected Europe
and the feudal
system. Peasants... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Often peasants died, which left them with no one to work the land and produce

equally and helped to create a world of democratic thinking. People grew closer
and closer to each other, until eventually their power collided. Everyone was equal.
In conclusion, as people died of the Bubonic Plague, people worked to help out with

My Identity Essay. Reflective Essay: What is identity essay

  • 1. My Identity Essay Exploring the depths of one's identity and encapsulating it within the confines of an essay is undoubtedly a formidable task. The challenge lies not only in the meticulous introspection required but also in the articulation of one's complex self in a coherent and engaging manner. Crafting a "My Identity Essay" demands a delicate balance between self-awareness and the ability to convey the essence of one's identity to an audience. To begin with, the process involves a deep dive into personal experiences, beliefs, and cultural influences that shape one's identity. This introspective journey can be emotionally taxing as it necessitates a candid examination of both triumphs and tribulations, forcing the writer to confront aspects of their identity that may be uncomfortable or challenging to articulate. Striking the right tone is crucial, as an overly introspective essay might become too self- indulgent, while an overly guarded approach may lead to a superficial exploration. Furthermore, the challenge extends to the structural and stylistic elements of the essay. Creating a narrative that flows seamlessly, engages the reader, and conveys the nuances of one's identity requires a refined writing skill set. The use of language becomes pivotal in translating personal experiences into a relatable and compelling narrative. Struggling to find the right words or fearing the essay may not accurately represent the complexity of one's identity can be a source of frustration for the writer. Moreover, the fear of judgment or misinterpretation can be a significant hurdle. Sharing personal experiences and beliefs leaves one vulnerable to scrutiny, and the writer may grapple with the question of how much to disclose. The balancing act between authenticity and self-preservation can be mentally taxing. In conclusion, writing a "My Identity Essay" is a demanding undertaking that requires introspection, emotional resilience, and a high level of writing proficiency. It is a journey that forces the writer to confront and communicate their essence with honesty and vulnerability. However, as with any formidable task, the rewards lie in the self-discovery and the potential for connection with others through shared human experiences. If you find yourself overwhelmed or in need of assistance, remember that resources like HelpWriting.net offer a range of services to support you in your writing endeavors. Similar essays and more can be explored and ordered through such platforms, providing valuable guidance and helping you navigate the intricate process of essay composition. Pierre Paul Broca s Analysis Pierre Paul Broca revolutionized our modern understanding of the imperative role neuronal lesions have in determining the functionality of an individual s speaking abilities. Specifically, his greatest contribution relates to the locating of aphasia within the cerebral cortex, and determining which region of the brainwas specialized for producing articulate speech. Eventually classified as Broca s area (Page 75), it exists upon the left frontal lobe, and predominately functions to regulate and encourage speaking abilities. This situation is actually accurate for me. Since I have a 4 year old niece, I can definitely relate to what he or she is saying because I try not to let my niece stay on the tablet all day long like she wants too. From age differences, the statistics of what tweens and teens do differ as they get older and depending on what activity it is. From the ages of 12 14, I would consider them as tweens or preteens. In those ages, 81% are interested in playing sports while 68% of 15 17 year olds are interested in sports. The older a person gets, the less they want to be included in sports or exercise. But, that may not always be the case. As a person get older, they don t always stop doing what they were doing when they were younger or as a teenager. I know a couple of people who still do the things they were doing as they were younger. When it comes to teens and tweens going to the mall or movies, teens of 15 17, has the highest percentage of both. 52% goes spend their time at the movies and 56% spend their leisure time at the mall. Edith Wharton s novels were often critically acclaimed until Ethan Frome was published. The novel was said to be cruel and violent by critics and casual readers. In my opinion, Edith Wharton s Ethan Frome is a great book that reveals the harsh realities of failed relationships hanging on by a thread combined with the struggle of being poverty stricken. For my original piece, I will write a poem about Edith Wharton s failed marriage that lasted 28 years, as if I were Edith Wharton after her divorce from Edward Wharton. I chose to do a report on Edith Wharton because she was a female writer that believed women were just as capable as men during a time when men were seen as superior in every aspect to women, and also because she achieved much more than most male writers of her time. I believe Edith Wharton s aristocratic upbringing had the main effect on her writing style. Background
  • 6. How I Changed My Life Forever The one choice that changed my life forever was that our family emigrated from Hong Kong to Canada in 1974. I was only seven years old. My Chinese name is Sau Han and this is my immigration history. My family came to Canada for a job offer but mainly it was for a better life. I had to leave behind many loving familymembers in Hong Kong. We also left behind our old lives, furniture, car, apartment, and friends. Our journey began when we hopped on a JAL (Japan airlines) jumbo jet on a sixteen hour flight to Vancouver, British Columbia with a brief stop over in Tokyo, Japan. Everything looked foreign to us on our arrival. What we hoped in the future was to be able to learn English, to adapt to our foreign surroundings, to settle down in our new home, and to go back to visit our friends and relatives in Hong Kong. These challenges are just the first of many obstacles to be faced. This immigration was not just a new beginning for my family but also a window of opportunity for the next generation. We had an intriguing story of how we immigrated to Canada. My family consisted of myself, my mom and dad, my older brother, Chi Hung, my older sister, Sau Seng, and my younger brother, Chi Wai. We lived in a descent three bedroom apartment in the New Territories, Hong Kong. On November, 1973, I vividly remembered my dad s ex employer, Mr. Chow, called long distance from Vancouver, Canada and offered my dad a dim sum chef position in his restaurant, the Golden

Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD) is the nontrivial process of identifying valid, novel, potentially useful, and ultimately understandable patterns in data. In recent years, soft computing became more and more attractive for the researchers, who work in the related research field of data mining. This paper concerns primarily about how to use soft computing model to extract knowledge from data mining (database). The data mining preprocessing techniques have been applied on the available data to clean it in proper form to extract the knowledge from the data. Thereafter, statistical analysis and soft computing techniques have been applied on the clean data to select the preferable model. The decision of the preferable model has to be achieved based on the maximum number of minimum value of the parameters of residual analysis and average error. The preferable model has been used to extract the knowledge from the data mining. The goal of the

Cultural Issues In The Melting Pot It is absolutely necessary that the people of this nation grasp the cultural, ethnic and religious differences of the people that make up this nation and of the surrounding nations. America since 1908 has been called The Melting Pot, a place where people from diverse backgrounds can come and experience freedom. Long before Israel Zangwillcoined the term Melting Pot, America has been a safe haven for immigrants even as early as the 1600 s up until the present time. With all of the various cultures that have come into America and continue to come, there must be an understanding of each other and respect, without those two key things in place there will not be peace. When you you see something totally different to you and do not understand it most people respond in fear, fear leads to misjudgement and spreading fallacies about that which is different from you. Their is no room for mutual respect when fear is in the way. Fear is at the root of all racism. Just look at how in Ancient times when Hebrews were slaves to the Egyptians, Pharaoh ordered every firstborn be killed and thrown into the Nile. He worried that the Hebrews would become too many and try to revolt. Because of his judgement many had to die. As a nation we must move past these pre passed judgements to see the cultureand the people that made that culture. The ultimate solution to solving conflict early on is to prevent racism and misunderstandings within cultures and social groups is to have an understanding of

The bottled water industry is now growing at 8% to 10% annually about twice as fast as other beverages. In fact, in 2003 bottled water became the second largest commercial beverage category by volume in the United States, surpassing milk, coffee, beer, and is now second only to carbonated soft drinks. d. Demographics (what is the industry s focus customer) Another significant trend is product marketing and packaging. Realizing that consumers cite taste, quality, and purity as the top reasons for drinking bottled water, bottlers market and design bottles to display their purity. Other manufacturers seek to carve out a new level in the bottled water industry introducing high end products. Another packaging trend in the bottled water industry is multi packs. As current bottled water consumption grows, more consumers are turning to multi packs to save time and money. e. Bottled water producers in the United States were required to meet the standards of both the EPA and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). A Day In The Life Of Gulliver Rhetorical Devices Petty, vindictive, cruel, ill informed, egotistical, these are just a few words that come to mind when describing the Lilliputians attitude in their massive world. At the beginning of the story the capturing of the mountain man is understandable due to his enormity and their incomprehension on the situation. However, their ridicule of Gulliver and enslavement of him, forcing him to do what they want in order for him to get his freedom, is completely inhumane despite his benefits to their society. The irony of the situation is that he can leave and overpower their whole community at any time, but Gulliver is a good person and is abiding to the rules imposed upon him by the people of Lilliput. Alex continued with his exasperated three year old logic, AJ got to watch Kung Fu Panda three times, and I only got to see it twice last night! (A. G. Neff, personal communication, October 4, 2012). The consternation arose from my insistence that a different movie should be viewed other than the same one that had been continually playing on the television set for the previous three days. My children always love repeat performances, and ever since I had pulled the DVD out of the moving boxes and told them I needed to watch it as part of my own homework, it was as if no other film would satisfy (Cobb, Stevenson Osborne, 2008). This happens to many people and is actually one of The Seven Sins of Memory . Blocking is when the brain tries to obtain information, but another memory interferes with it and is the main cause of tip of the tongue phenomenon. The sound of the word is programmed in the brain apart from where its meaning is. Therefore, when you are attempting to figure out a word but cannot seem to remember it, it is most likely because the links between each other are weak. A person can remember everything about this word and its meaning, but will not be capable of getting it out. In addition, this mostly happens when we are searching for a word we do not often use. There are many times when a person actually mentions something to one of their friends but remembers saying it to someone else, which is called misattribution. Holmes’ Method of Madness A detail is defined as an individual feature, fact, or item, in The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson have to use details to investigate the curse of the Baskervilles. Detectives Sherlock Holmes and Watson have an amazing attention to detail, however, sometimes they struggle with what is important; Holmes and Watson have to decide what is pertinent information, keep their minds on track, and be able to do both of those in order to solve the Baskerville case. To begin, detectives need evidence to piece together a crime, but determining what is evidence and what s not is the most difficult part of solving a case. There is a method, however, for figuring out whether a clue may be used in the case or not. This method is part of Holmes method, the scientific method, where the investigation follows the process of: observing, speculating, deducting and making inferences about the crime. During the step of observing, every detail is taken in, even the most irrelevant details, which allow the investigators to make sure that they have all the information needed to solve their case. Next comes the hardest part, a clump of the last three steps, involving the process of analyzing every single detail a case has, speculating its place in the case and deducting the information if it doesn t fit to the speculated case. Eventually, those logical speculations that fit the case are formed into inferences, which are used to investigate the case

The profession of teaching warrants the attributes of the individual educator to carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. This notion has been evident to me since my own education in my early years of primary school and has developed in depth since studying the industry. I view teachers as professionals and it has always been my understanding that teachers have a duty of care to their students and rightfully must create support and safe environments for their students (Matulic Keller,p.3,2011). The Australian Institute for teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) was implemented in 2010 for teachers to establish standards that would help advance and support their learning throughout their careers. The standards allow educators and pre service to be aware of what is expected of them and how they can address areas that need attention. For much of the sport s history, qualifying sessions differed little from practice sessions; drivers would have one or more entire sessions in which to attempt to set their fastest time, sometimes within a limited number of attempts, with the grid order determined by each driver s best single lap, fastest (on pole position) to slowest. Every year, my Dad s whole side of the family stays together for a week every summer. Ever since I can remember, we ve stayed at this huge, old lake house in Columbia, South Carolina. Clara and I hate being here. Strange things happen in this house... plates fall out 5432wqof cabinets and voices echo in the house throughout the night. Nevertheless, my grandparents still loved coming here and made us visit every year. Clara, my Dad, and I are the last ones to arrive because our flight from Chicago was overlaid two hours. I missed Chicago already, the constant buzz of people and the bright lights. Walking up to the house, everything felt the same as it always did. The humidity is choking, making it hard to breathe. The sun is blinding and the temperature is somewhere in the 90 s, as to be expected late July in South Carolina. The lake smells like dead fish. Always, no matter what. We walked up the old, wooden stairs. The light blue paint was chipping off the door, and the door itself looked like it was about to fall of the hinges. Clara let herself in, pulling her lime suitcase behind her. My two little cousins, Reagan and Matthew, immediately saw her and squealed with joy. Everyone loved Clara, her bubbly personality easy to get along with. No one, on the other hand, was ever excited to see me. I was the quiet one, overlooked by

  • 31. Melting Pot Vs Salad Bowl Society has a stigma of having to put things into categories in order to have a better understanding and approach to life. Due to this need to categorize, the concept of the salad bowl and the melting pot emerged. These theories are approaches of how cultures are represented within a nation. The United Statesis a nation made up of immigrants. Over generations these immigrants have decided to either abandon their cultureand assimilate to the American society or wear their heritage with pride and embrace their values, therefore brings up the infamous debate whether the United States is a salad bowl or a melting potThe melting pot can be described as a fusion of various religions, nationalities, and ethnic groups into one distinct people. Also it can describe a society in which immigrants who have different cultural backgrounds need to adapt to a new culture, and only one culture can be accepted. Usually the racial and ethnic backgrounds almost disappear. This concept was coined by an immigrant Israel Zangwill that encourages newcomers to assimilate into the American culture. The other side of the approach is the salad bowl theory. The salad bowl can be described as a society where different cultures are brought together (like salad ingredients), but do not form together into a homogeneous culture. This means each culture keeps its own unique traditions and rituals and aren t stripped by their differences. No piece of the salad is being thrown out, but more
  • 32. Relationship Between Coaches And Coaches Relationships between Players and Coaches According to ESPN, 61 percent of boys and 34 percent of girls say that sports are a big part of who they are. Additionally, there are over 21 million kids between the ages of 6 and 17 that play sports (Kelley). This enormous number not only represents children playing a sport but it also represents something that each of those kids have in common: they each have a coach. There are three key things involved in every sport: the players, the competition, and the coaches. Each of these parts of the sport are important and necessary. Sports are not only a great way to exercise and keep fit, but they also teach kids a lot of important qualities that they will need to be successful for the rest of their lives. They teach them how to exercise, how to compete, how to work on a team, how to work toward a goal, and how to develop and manage relationships. No relationship, however, is more important than that between a coach and his/her player. A coach can be a player s role model and inspiration but, unfortunately, a coach can also be a player s work enemy and can ruin a sport for an athlete. Likewise, a player can either make a season enjoyable for his/her coach or can make the season miserable. I will explore the importance of the relationship between coaches and players and the effect that it can have on both parties. The relationship that a player has with his/her coach is many times underestimated in how important it truly is.

Natural radiation includes elements such as Uranium and Radium. Artificial radiation is synthesised (man made) in ways such as bombarding a stable nucleus of an element with energyto create radioisotopes. This man made radiation includes substances such as nuclear power. Electromagnetic radiation which includes waves such as radio waves, microwaves and visible light. Being of an ambiguous nature, he appears to live in a different world to the family with whom he deals; the Birlings and it is his dramatic function in the play that I shall be analysing. When Gerald asks to see the picture the inspector says, hold on, your time will come and one line of inquiry at a time This shows he has already planned out whom he will speak to first and last and what information he will have. Due to the fact he already knows that each of them holds a key to Eva Smith s death, it is likely he could be a time traveller travelling back in time to punish the Birlings and make them realize the consequences of their actions. The dialogue from the other characters also helps us to comprehend the role of Inspector Goole in An Inspector Calls. I especially think this is achieved by Mrs. Birlings views on Eva Smith towards the end of the play, she thinks of Miss Smith a an impertinent child and apparently. was giving herself ridiculous airs… that were simply absurd for a child in her position. This signifies that Mrs. Birling does not think highly of the girl and bearing in mind the social and historical context of this

Necessary steps have been taken to take control on the spill but still there is much to handle when it comes to the consistent danger being faced by the environment. The main culprit ingredient of the incident is the petroleum posing a number of disastrous effects to the environment. Types of Air and Water Pollutants Fresh oil present on the surface of the Gulf of Mexico being the primary pollutant evaporates in the air. This oil is broken down into tiny particles called the aerosols, which are designated to be the secondary pollutants. The aerosols that include certain classes of hydrocarbons are not easily broken down hence remaining in the air. Other than the aerosols, a significant amount of alkyl nitrates, hexane, methane, and butane compounds have been identified in the air which along with the aerosols are skin irritants and can cause dizziness (Landau, 2011, p. 67). Aerosols have been related to lung cancers. Surprisingly, the concentration of these compounds in the air is much higher when compared to the highly polluted environments of Los Angeles, Oklahoma and Mexico. The oil

  • 42. Regeneration There are at least two ways to answer this question. One way is to argue that Regeneration is not an anti war novel. First, because the work is historical fiction, we might assert that it was necessary for Barker to include Sassoon s protest against the war as an important facet of his character, but that his protest is not central to the novel. Second, as the narrator does not play an intrusive role in the story, there is no overarching judgment of the occurrences and events that carries a didactic anti war tone. The motif of emasculation signals the powerlessness the men feel when confronted with the shocking reality of war. Although they try to do the ostensibly manly thing by enlisting in the war and fighting for their country, they must face society s judgment that it is decidedly unmanly to suffer a breakdown from their war experience. Different locations and different times create distinct flavors of art. The Renaissance style of art dates roughly to the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, starting in Italyand spreading throughout Europe. And just like many previous and subsequent art styles, Renaissanceart was birthed from a prior art style Medieval. The shift from Medieval to Renaissance was profound in both style and form, as well as in the distinctions that came to the artists. There are many Renaissance artists from that time that quickly come to mind: Botticelli, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
