Kid Essay Samples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Kid Essay Samples" can be a challenging endeavor,
requiring a delicate balance between capturing the innocence and curiosity of children while
maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative. The difficulty lies in weaving together anecdotes
and observations that not only showcase the essence of childhood but also adhere to the
conventions of a well-structured essay.
Firstly, one must navigate the fine line between sentimentality and objectivity. While it's crucial
to convey the pure and unfiltered experiences of children, it's equally important to maintain a
level of critical analysis that engages the reader. Striking this balance can be a nuanced task, as it
involves tapping into personal memories or observations without succumbing to overly
sentimental prose.
Additionally, finding the right tone is a challenge. The language should be accessible and
reflective of a child's perspective, yet it must also demonstrate a mature understanding of the
topic. Creating a narrative that resonates with both younger and older audiences requires a
nuanced choice of words and an understanding of the diverse audience that may read the essay.
Structuring the essay is another hurdle. From introducing the theme to developing a coherent
narrative and drawing meaningful conclusions, each section requires careful consideration.
Ensuring a smooth flow while addressing the multifaceted aspects of "Kid Essay Samples" can
be a complex task that demands meticulous planning and organization.
Lastly, there's the challenge of originality. Given the ubiquity of topics related to children,
finding a unique angle or perspective that stands out from the myriad existing essays is no small
feat. It requires creativity, a fresh outlook, and the ability to present commonplace experiences in
a new light.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Kid Essay Samples" involves a series of intricate challenges,
including striking the right balance between sentimentality and objectivity, navigating tone
complexities, structuring the narrative effectively, and infusing originality into a well-trodden
topic. Despite these challenges, the rewarding aspect lies in capturing the essence of childhood
and sharing it with an audience.

Montana and the Rocky Mountains
Have you ever wondered about Montana, have you ever been to the Rocky
Mountains or do
you know anybody that retired and moved to the Rocky Mountains or somewhere in

2,700 African Americans live here. Montana s first African Americans arrived in 1860.
About 18,000 Hispanic people live in Montana. Native Americans make up about 6
percent of
Montana s population. More than 4,6000 Asian Americans live in Montana. Chinese
people first lived
in Montana. All of them owned businesses, like, laundries and restaurants. They
arrived during Word
War 2. Almost 90 percent of Montanans are white. In the 1800s, European immigrants
arrived.
Miners came from Ireland, Wales, England, Italy, and Poland.
Farmers arrived from Germany and Norway. Lumberjacks came from Sweden. Most
worked
as miners and cowboys. Many of their families came from Mexico. Also, many
retired people live here.
The best retired cities are Missoula and Bozeman. Others have retired areas like
Hamilton
and Kaliteli. Today Montanans came from the early miners and ranchers. Many
Hispanics and
Latinos have moved to larger cities. About 52 percent of Montanans live in or near

Most of Montana s large cities are in the Rocky Mountains. About 48
Oprah Winfrey s Journey Through Life
Oprah Winfrey is an inspiration to many all around the world. She did not have a
very good home life up until the age of 14. She was abused as a child and did not see
her mother very often because she was a housemaid who was gone almost every
day all day. Vernon Winfrey, Oprah s father, was a big service in her life when it
came to keeping her in a nonviolent manner. Oprah also had her career going for her
when she became Miss Black Tennessee at age 17. When Oprah became Miss
Black Tennessee she was offered a radio broadcasting job and a full scholarship to
Tennessee. Oprah had quite a few talk shows yet she made the most money off her
own show, The Oprah WinfreyShow, and now has her individual network called The

At age 17 Oprah won the Miss Black Tennessee beauty pageant and was offered an
on air job at WVOL, a radio station serving the African American community in
Nashville. She also won a full scholarship to Tennessee State University where she
majored in Speech Communications and Performing arts ( Americas Beloved
Best Friend ). During the horrifying times Oprah had with her mother, I assure you
she never thought she would be as successful and content as she is now. Oprah
Winfrey s world turned upside down when she became Miss Black Tennessee. When
Oprah became Miss Black Tennessee her broadcasting career was only just
beginning. Oprah s first broadcasting job was WVOL in her first years of college. By
then Oprah s broadcasting career was already taking off. She left school and signed
as a local television reporter and anchor. In 1976, she moved to Baltimore to join
WJZ TV News as a co anchor. There, she co hosted her first talk show. This talk show
was called People are Talking. However continuing her first talk show, she as well
prolonged to serve as a news reporter and an anchor all at once. At last, Winfrey had
finally found a niche the suited her outgoing and vicarious personality, and would
soon spread to other cities. In January 1984 she was invited to Chicago to host a ВЅ

Zoe s Kitchen
ZoГ«s Kitchen began in 1995 as a family run restaurant in Homewood, Alabama. The
company s owner, president CEO, John Cassismus had turned his attention from his
own business ventures to the family business, with desires to build a world class
company. Mostly frequented by mothers with small children and white collar
employees in the area, the restaurant catered to those consumers with a desire for
healthy foods at comparatively lower prices. As of December 2005 there were 16
locations in five different states. The brand was strong and synonymous with
freshness, home style goodness and family recipes. The menu boasted healthy
selections, mostly with a Greek influence, (i.e. chicken pitas roll ups, salads dinner
plates) which consumers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The focused differentiation strategy largely depends on a buyer segment that seeks
special product attributes (i.e. healthier food, lower comparative cost, quick
service) and on the company s ability to stand apart from its rivals (Thompson et.
al, 153). In its uniqueness, ZoГ«s Kitchen has the ability to be different and had no
national rivals emulating its format or menu. SWOT AnalysisStrengthsIt is clear
that the major strength for ZoГ«s Kitchen is its people. First, John Cassismus
himself is an asset worth discussing. John built the company from a single, family
run restaurant into the existing 16 location operation. Dear to his heart, John
fostered the business which was inspired from the kitchen of his very own mother,
ZoГ«. He was described as being optimistic, sales oriented, an entrepreneur, a
visionary and hard working. Two previous successful ventures gave John the
knowledge and experience he would require. ZoГ«s Kitchen s growth may even be
linked to the effect of a learning/experience curve (Thompson et. al, 53). While John
s experiences didn t necessarily provide large economies of scale (for cost cutting
purposes), his knowledge did allow him to recognize the importance of excellent
human resource management, a clearly defined strategy, building brand loyalty and
strong business systems. Second, John built a healthy workforce with well trained
employees. Stores had very little turnover; many of the employees had been with

Staples Case Analysis Critique
1. What is Staple s competitive advantage in the online marketplace? The critique
team agrees that Staples.com s competitive advantage in the online marketplace is
Staples brand name. The analysis team correctly points out that 75% of the market is
being served by generic retailers, so that Staples.com can use Staples brand name to
better reach into that portion of the market. Staples has an established customer
network under its brand name from which Staples.com can gain wallet share.
Staples.com also has Staples customer demand information and consumer feedback

The critique team would add that there is likely to be cannibalization of the
catalogue business because the models are so closely related. Staples should
commission a study to find estimated rates of cannibalization so that an orderly
response can be implemented.
The analysis team is also correct that Staples.com should focus on market share over
wallet share. The market is very large and growing fast. The critique team would add
that by capturing online market share ahead of competitors, Staples.com can reduce
the cost of overcoming competitor customer loyalty in the online market. The
switching cost will still be absent for many customers that are new to the internet
office supplies market.
The critique team would add that Staples catalogue business increased wallet share
by a factor of three. This is the very business that will likely be cannibalized in the
ordinary course of business by opening the online store. Staples should not spend too
much money on trying to increase wallet share when it will likely be transitioning
between business units. However, Staples should still take the opportunity to market
services as a way to expand customer wallet. All marketing expenditures on
promoting new services market share will spill over into wallet share. Any wallet
share campaign on services should be lower priority than market share marketing.

System Analysis Phase For The New System Essay
In system analysis phase, an analysis is done on the current system functionality and
also evaluation of the requirements from the users for the new system is done. This
analysis is sub phased into 2 and they are determining requirements and structuring
requirements. пѓ Performing Requirements Determination o The Process of
Determining Requirements Through the phase of requirements determinations,
requirements are gathered by the analysts to determine how system should behave/do
from different ways. These different ways of gathering requirements include,
gathering from current system users, from existing reports, from monitoring existing
users and from existing procedures followed in the system. All these requirements
which are gathered in different ways are cautiously documented and arranged for
structuring. o Deliverables and Outcomes Deliverables and outcomes for
requirements are determined 1.While discussion or observation of users in the
process of gathering requirements, there is lot of information gathered, this
information is collected in the form of meeting notes, interview transcripts and
observation of users. 2.Each organization may have a goals/mission/strategy/vision,
part of requirements can be based out of these goals/mission/strategy/vision.
Requirements can also be based or created out of existing written information in the
organization, these include procedure manuals, job descriptions, training manuals,

Arguments Against Birth Order
For almost half a century, birth order has been viewed as key in determining
individual personality traits. Psychologists such as Alton Adler and Francis Galton
spearheaded research on this topic, and their conclusions are cited as references for
those who support the idea. There recently have been studies conducted that strive to
overturn this theory by showing how different variables can affect the results of our
development. (Beck) There are those who stand by early research and support
distinct groups of characteristics only being exhibited by people sharing a certain
birth order. There are others; however, who oppose this idea and instead favor growth
as an individual experience not limited by expectations. With two very different
approaches to this matter, the question remains,... Show more content on

There are factors to consider regarding personality such as family environment,
genetics, cultural background, and financial disposition. These factors were not
included in the primary research of both Alton Adler and Francis Galton. (Beck)
Since there were no control factors placed in the early research, the findings can be
viewed as biased by some since they only represented a small percentage of the
population. One author, Julie Beck, took notice of how low insight was given to
such a broad claim. She states, The idea that birth order determines siblings
personality and intelligence remains entrenched in society, even as modern scientific
findings on the matter have historically been inconsistent (Beck). Those who are
against the birth order theory claim these inconsistencies occur because the idea is
being presented as fact on a scale larger than its original base. Opposers to this
theory agree that for this claim to hold more validity, there would have to be more
evidence given than what was presented in the original

ones that will close down, according to reports. In addition, almost all the job cuts
will be related to the integration of General Parts International.

The School Entrance Examination Board Essay
After establishing his legacy, and as a member of American Psychological
Association, Brigham was appointed secretary of the College Entrance Examination
Board, creating the blueprint and later developing the SAT assessment (Kamin, 1975).
The Gatekeepers
In order to monitor student s aptitude with college prep subjects the College Board
was formed (Atkinson Geiser, 2009). Created in 1900, 12 prominent universities
assisted in forming the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB). The
organization help to standardize the admission process for universities and cultivate
secondary curriculum.
At the time, there was widespread fear amongst elite leaders about the increasing
growth of the immigrant population in the U.S. Many university administrators were
concerned about the explosion and the effects this would have on their student
populations. Introduce in 1926, the SATbecame a covert means for universities to
selectively choose potential candidates, although during the earlier part of the
twentieth century, college was primarily for the elite. Since these assessments
measured aptitude, postsecondary institutions relied on the test to standardize the
process for student s academic outcomes and determine if they were qualified for
prominent universities (Berger, 2012).
University administrators realized the SAT s could be used to select the best
candidates for admission and it also could be used to resolve the issue of
overpopulating colleges with students who were not
Macro Lens
Ever see a spectacular photo of a flower online and wonder the process behind that
picture? Well, professional photographers buy expensive equipment like, lenses,
tripods and extension tubes to take clear crisp photos that have a blurred
background. They use composition techniques like the angle of attack to change
the look of their photo. Finally, professionals edit their photos to make colors pop,
brighten shadows and darken highlights. Using good equipment, skill and editing,
professional photographers can create spectacular close up photos. Professional
photographers use expensive equipment to take beautiful pictures. Nice lenses
make photos with bokeh (a Japanese word for blur) in the background, but these
are usually pricy. Evin Oke, a professional photographer, says his $700 macro lens
is the best money I have ever spent (picturecorrect.com). Macro lenses are designed
to take close up photos, thus enabling a photographer to make a small object appear

The human eye finds things of three appealing; this is why many photographers
such as Bryan Peterson use the Rule of Thirds. Shapes, curves, and patterns make a
photo more interesting because they create dimension in a photo. An example of
this is if a photographer goes to the market and takes an apple and places it on top
of the pile of oranges. The apple stands out against the oranges patterns, shapes and
curves. A way to create a more dynamic image is to change the angle from which
you shoot. (picturecorrect.com). This is called angle of attack and photographers
use it often because it can change the look of a photo dramatically. Shooting many
pictures of flowers may get boring and repetitive after time, but if a photographer
changes his shooting angle, he can create a completely different photo. Taking
visually attractive photos requires a variety of skills to compose the
Teen Drinking Essay
The average American begins drinking at 15 years old, despite the fact that the
legal drinking age in the United States is 21 years old. Underage alcohol use is more
likely to kill young people than all illicit drugs combined. I believe that raising the
drinking age to 25 years old can save many young lives.
Affects of Adolescent Drinking Adolescent drinking affects a child s mind, body and
future.
Adolescence is the between childhood and adulthood. During this time alcohol use

The condition, delirium tremens, known primarily to heavy drinkers, causes
hallucinations along with loss of control of muscular functioning. When this
condition develops and the alcoholic slows their drinking, withdrawal syndrome can

Social Consequences Car crashes are the leading cause of death among youth ages
15 to 20 years old. Adolescents already are at a high risk being inexperienced
drivers. Drivers younger that 21 are more likely to have alcohol induced
impairment of driving skills than older drivers. The rate of fatal crashes among
alcohol involved drivers between 16 23 is more than twice the rate for alcohol
involved drivers 24 and older. Sexual assault, including rape, occurs mostly with
women in late in late teens and early twenties, usually with a date. In a survey,
approximately 10 percent of female high school students reported having been raped.
Research suggests that alcohol use by the offender, the victim, or both, increases the
likelihood of sexual assault by a male.
Adolescent alcohol use with highВ–risk sex (having multiple sexual partners and not
using any condoms) produces serious outcome. The consequences of highВ–risk sex
also are common in this age group, particularly unwanted pregnancy and
The Dark Knight Rises Film
Even to this day, many have failed to replicate what has been known to be the most
successful superhero trilogy of all time. With awards totaling south of over seventy
total wins and over 100 nominations, the Dark Knight Rises remains to be everything
a film needs to be to always remain a timeless classic. The method the team used to
overwhelm the world with this immaculate trilogy was to create the last installment
as more than just a film, but as a piece of art as well. Many methods were used to
reach this profound approach to filmmaking, however it was the brilliant
cinematography, the acting that brought the characters to life, and the director s
genius ending that transitioned the Dark KnightRises from an ordinary film, into an
admired piece of art to all.
One of the major reasons for the success of the Dark Knight Rises film is because of
its award winning cinematography that the brilliant Mr. Wally Pfister orchestrated
throughout the vigorous 3 hour film. Without a doubt, the vividness portrayed from
the gritty lightening aids the goal of achieving timeless art through the process of
using natural light to depict the different array of natural colors to create beauty.
Another method of the brilliant cinematography that this film contains is the
directing of the action sequences. Christopher Nolan constructed a scene prop that
allows him to film night scenes during the day. This allows him to overexpose the
lightening during the actual fighting that gives those
Violence In The Gospel Of Luke And The Koran
For as long as humanity has existed, men have committed violence against one
another. Assuredly, Nancy G. Guerra s and Lyndee Knox s entry on violence in the
Encyclopedia of Crime and Justice affirms that, As historical and cross cultural
records demonstrate, our evolutionary history is laced with examples of violence.
Indeed, paleontological data reveal a rather continuous stream of human violence
dating back thousands of years. It is clear that violence is a part of human nature
that has always existed and will likely never be eradicated. One of the aspects that all
forms of violence seem to share is that, societally (in terms, at the very least, of
Western societies), they are looked down upon. Consequentially, those who commit

This initially comes as something of a shock when one considers the common
paradigm of Jesus as a figure of peace who only preaches forgiveness and
nonviolence. One of the most interesting parables in the Gospel of Luke which
contradicts this paradigm is one which describes a steward who is physically
violent towards the servants of his master s estate. Commenting on this story, and
referring to the abusive steward, Jesus promises that his master [God] will come
on a day he does not expect and ... will cut him off and send him to the same fate as
the unfaithful (12. 45 46). Adding to this, Jesus then continues with, I have come
to bring fire to the earth. Do you suppose that I am here to bring peace on earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on, a household of five will be
divided: three against two and two against three (12. 51 52). This quote by Jesus
firstly implies that the violence of the steward toward the servants is unjustified. This
implication comes from the vow that God will punish the steward for his violence. In
his article titled Christian Pharisees and the Scandalous Ethics of Jesus, Patrick Colm
Hogan writes that, in this parable, the steward clearly represents the earthly rulers,
both spiritual

Phenomenology Of Friedrich Hegel
Gorge Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel was born in the year 27th August, 1770, in Stuttgart,
Germany. He studied philosophies and classics at Tubingen. He was a tutor and an
editor and explored theology after his graduation. The Phanomenologie des Geistes
(The Phenomenology of Sprit) was his first work being published in 1807. He was
the person who propounded the Dialectical method . Which is usually in a three
stages namely thesis (giving rise to its reaction), antithesis (negates the thesis) and the
tension between thesis and the antithesis being resolved by the means of antithesis
(Sparknotes, 2005). In a simple form dialectics method can be understood as problem

Master slave dialectic is a process of negotiation and mutual interdependence. Hegel
believes that the consciousness for the Master is not an independent but a dependent
on slave. According to Hegel, both master and slave recognize their own existence
only in relation of the other. Among the many implications of the master slave
dialectic, then, is the idea of there being mutual dependence between master and slave
rather than a blanket opposition of dominance to subordination. The slave ironically
shares in the master s power because the master defines himself only in opposition to
the slave; that is, the master needs the slave in order to legitimate his comparative
Welfare Of The Dairy, Beef, And Rodeo Industry
Bovine Welfare In the Dairy, Beef, and Rodeo Industry
In the US today cattle are part of everyday culture. With more than 93 million cattle
in the dairy and beef industry, and tens of thousands in the rodeo business, cattle are
definitely a huge part. Lately, there has been many concerns with the bovine friends
along with multiple misconceptions. Rodeos may look tough on animals, and todays
society is not educated well enough on the beef and dairy industry. People don t
realize that these animals are happy, healthy, and very well cared for.
Rodeos have been around since the day of the cowboy, they are often times credited
for having Americas true cowboys. They include great display of athleticism between
a cowboy or cowgirl, and the animals. Many rodeo events today, such as calf roping,
are traditional farm and ranch practices. Some rodeo viewers don t approve of
what they see. Some people believe rodeos are too rough on the animals and that
the animals are mistreated behind closed doors. Dr. James Furman (Beef Magazine),
a professional rodeo animal practitioner, says that rodeos have strict animal policies.
Cowboys will be disqualified, and often times fined for the mistreatment of animals.
(Beef Magazine). Dr. Furman admits, The rodeos do look tough on the animals, but
ranchers take extensive procedures to make sure their cattle are in good health. If the
rodeos truly did help the animals, would ranchers put their cattle in them. Furman

the end, the search for a new leader came down to Daniel Ortega and Tomas Borge.
The two men s characters could not be more different. Borge was seen as radical,
and even though he was not a skilled fighter, he was a great conspirator and skilled
in the black arts. He was also the only one of the Sandinista commandates to be
tortured by Somoza; this inspired his own security system, which centered around
El Chipote, the infamous short term interrogation center and prison, where many
counter revolutionaries were held prisoner and questioned. Daniel Ortega, on the
other hand, was more moderate with a long history of defying the Somoza regime,
beginning in his teenage years. He was jailed for 7 years for his revolutionary
activities and was one of the political prisoners released after the 1974 Christmas
raid. But the real reason that Ortega ultimately rose to power, becoming the president
of Nicaragua in 1985, was because none of the other commandates could ever fully
trust Borge and he could never fully trust
Juliet the Rulebreaker in Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
Should people be allowed to break the set laws of society for their own desires? In
the famous play Romeo and Juliet these laws have affected the main character Juliet
in many ways. In this play these laws not only prevent her from having true
happiness with Romeo, but they also force Juliet into a marriagethat she does not
even want. They even force her to have a fake her own death to be with her one true
love; however, Juliet breaks these set laws though to have true happiness with the
one she loves. Although Juliet goes against society, she does it in order to be happy
with Romeo, avoid being wed to Paris, and not having to listen to her family.
The First way that Juliet goes against society is by dating, and falling in love with ...

This can be heard of while she talks to Friar Lawrence in a non eloquent manner,
And this shall free thee from this present shame, / If no inconstant toy nor
womanish fear / Abate thy valor in acting it. / Give me, give me! O, tell not me of
fear! / Hold! Get you gone, be strong and prosperous / In this resolve. I ll send a
friar with speed / To Mantua, with my letters to thy lord. / Love give me strength,
and strength shall help afford. / Farewell, dear father. (iv.i.118 126). This proves
that Juliet was trying to avoid the wedding by making a plan with the friar.
Therefore, this caused her to act out against the normal of society by trying to
avoid the wedding. The third way that the marriage makes Juliet act out is by how
she killed herself temporarily to avoid being married. This is not only her action
out, but her not agreeing with her arranged marriage. However, having an arranged
marriage was common back in Juliet s time, but since she did not want one she
acted out by not agreeing with the marriage. This proves that she did not agree with
society, and that she did act outside of what society thought was okay to do. Overall
Juliet avoiding the arranged marriage clearly shows that she is not afraid to act
against the fickle laws set by society, and that she only wants to have true gallant love
with Romeo.
The final way that Juliet acts out against society can be seen with her family. The
first example can
The Columbine High School Massacre Essay
The topic that I have chosen to do my research on is that of Eric Harris and Dylan
Klebold who are infamously known for their rolls in the Columbine High School
Massacre that occurred in 1999. I choose this incident for my research based on the
amount of school place violence that is being seen more and more rampant in today
s society. This paper will cover the background and events of that horrible day, the
individual break down of both Harris and Klebolds demographics, define the crime
committed, attempt to shine light on what Criminologist believe the theory or
theories behind this action was and explain what actions and been taken since this
event to deter future attacks. . On April 20th, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold
executed their plans of destruction on Columbine High School. Harris and Klebold
came to the high school campus with plenty of artillery. They had automatic
weapons, handguns, knives, small bombs, and pipe bombs. Their whole attack
started at 11:10am. They attempted to set off bombs in the cafeteria to start the
attack at 11:17 when the cafeteria would have the most people (488), and let fire
reign upon the students that were in the cafeteria still alive. However, the bombs
did not work and instead the two started to fire upon students closest to them as they
entered the cafeteria. Only a few people were killed and a few were injured when
the two made their way into the cafeteria as the rest of the students escaped. Harris
and Klebold then
Life Saving Strategies for Food Allergies
Living with food allergies is a full time job as it is. Between reading ingredients,
calling food companies, worrying about the cross contamination of what others are
eating near you, to the what ifs, it can be rather over whelming at times. Should it
not be easier, since food allergies are readily growing? It should be mandatory for
school workers, all teachers, nurses, and caregivers to notice signs of anaphylaxisand
when to give ephedrine. One of the easiest ways to make this possible would be to
teach these life skills just as one would learn CPR. In order to make sure this is a
widespread knowledge, it would be needed to have a daycare. It is very important
for a caregiver to know what to look for and what anaphylaxis looks like.
Anaphylaxis is not always noticeable, or just the throat closing up. Even though
this topic has been written about many times over, I hope to give readers another
perspective, and hopefully change some protocols, from a mother who has food
allergies and is taking care of her children with food allergies. SAVING KIDS

The Positive And Negative Effects Of Urbanization
Urbanization is taking place all over the world in the modern time. However, why
does urbanization happen? According to the information about urbanization on the
internet, there are several positive and negative effects of urbanization.
Effect#1: Economic
The Growth of Economy
The natural resources could be used from rural areas. Urban and rural area can
develop together to achieve the growth of economy. For instance, the development of
the food industry depends on that of agriculture, which rural areas can afford the
agriculture. In this way, urban and rural area grow together.
Urbanization of Poverty
More rural areas people move to the urban, and there are more people live in urban
slums, which makes urban overcrowded. As for more housing needs, ... Show more

Better management of various production and consumption, which can deal with the
industries output and pollution. Air pollution caused different sort of disease,
reasonable change the way to develop the industrialization decreases the percentage

Pollution Caused by Transportation
Due to the much higher densities of people and activities in cities, transportation is
a key issue. Transportation is the movement of people and goods from one place to
another, people must need it. However, because there are lots of people take
underground and buses, which makes overcrowded. The private cars are convenient
for people to go out. So that private cars become more and more in the cities which
pollute the environment.
Scenario and Courses of Action
1.Rapid urbanization will affect the environment.
More people move to the city, they use different kinds of transportation to go
outside. Most of people have private car for family, which will harm the
environment, air pollution will more serious caused by people drive car

Dietary Guidelines For America
Dietary Guidelines for Americans In previous years, The United States of America
concluded that the country needed dietary goals to prevent diseases, and to promote
healthy eating habits and lifestyles. The U.S Senate Select Committee decided that
the newly found dietary guidelines would focus on energy balance, which would
prevent citizens from becoming over weight (1). Now you are probably wondering,
what exactly are dietary guidelines ? Dietary Guidelines are a series of dietary
recommendations from the NutritionCommittee of the American Heart Association
(2). The guidelines were initially created to advise advice amount calorie
consumption and physical activity, in belief that this would prevent chronic diseases.

15 percent of calories a day as stated in article number four, but in the 2015
guidelines, Americans were asked to limit the intake of sugars to less than 10
percent. Dietary fats are similar topics in both guidelines, and both recommend
that Americans limit the saturated fat intake to 10 percent. Although the percent
remains the same, the 2015 DGA believe that the advice for saturated fats, won t
reduce cardiovascular disease. In 2010 the DGA recommended that the dietary
intake of cholesterol should be 300mg per day (^4), but the 2015 DGA didn t
allocate a recommendation to limit cholesterol. In the 2015 DGA, the topic of
caffeine was discussed. Lastly, the newly revised guidelines recommend drinking
a cup of coffee a day, due to its ability to promote healthy eating habits (6). Those
were just a few of the different subjects discussed in the revised Dietary Guidelines

be taken, is very narrow. Louisiana is known for spicy and salty food, which
displays poor sodium intake. The state consumes entirely too much sodium and not
enough wheats. Due to our moist climate, we are usually responsible with the
proper intake of seafood and fruits, but we lack the intake of grains. In order for
Louisiana to receive a proper and healthy
Impact Of Romanticism In The Late Victorian Age
I was a man who stood in the symbolic relations to the art and culture of my age. 1
The late Victorian age saw a revolution in the sphere of art and literature. John
Ruskin, Matthew Arnold, Walter Pater, and Oscar Wilde were among the most
influential art and literary critics of the yellow nineties. They baffled the British
opinion with their brand new stance on literature, paintings, and sculptures. They
turned criticism into a new form of art, which redefined and theorised art as well as
literature. Their new theories were utterly modern and absolutely new for the period,
which has come to be known as the English Renaissance. This English Renaissance
of Art was defined by Oscar Wildeas: a sort of new birth of the spirit of man, like ...

Wilde s Portrait of Mr W.H, but Blackwood wrote to Wilde suggesting that the story

The Issue Of The Canadian Immigration Act
Background: Dating from early British era, Transgender, which is an umbrella
term for lesbians, gays and bisexuals have been officially charged for crime called
gross indecency . This penalty of this crime at first was death, which later on
moderated and became imprisonment for a period of 10 years. Through 1947
1961, many amendments were made to the criminal code, which further
criminalized the idea of trans genders. During the 1960s, the British Parliament
deiced to decriminalize some of the offences of Tran genders. In the May of 1969,

The implementation of this strategy is so simple. If consumers purchase over 25
rolls of film at once, Kodak give them a coupon that they can print 5 rolls of film
for free at the next time visit. At least 13% of each household can print 5 rolls of
film for free, so Kodak should bear the expenses. It means that Kodak s variable
cost increases and net profit decreases. In the short run Kodak ma y lose some
profit; however, in the long run, I m sure that it could reinforce the qua ntity of

capabilities to do this strategy, because Kodak is exclusive company in film

Defining problems, objectives, and determining resources. It is important to also
look at the overarching problem with discussing the planning phase of the SDLC.
Problems are going to be established in the beginning so that there are clear
pathways to find a solution. Most of the time the project will be pre equipped with
the knowledge of the problems. It also is important to establish objectives.
Defining Objectives are the core of how the project flows smoothly. It is important
to understand that objectives need to be met to start to enable a new one. Many
times projects will fail due to skipping objectives. The results tend to make the IT
professionals start completely over. It is also important to determine resources that
are available to use. Many times the specialists are able to use previous diagrams,
software, and other systems to complete the new project. Projects tend to fix other
systems that already have been set in place. These can be resources to complete the
new project. Figuring out how to create a better product. During the planning phase it
is also a main goal to determine how to fix the problem by having a better product.
After planning, you have the option of developing a new system, improving the
current system, or leave the system as is. This ties in the lines with understanding
how to create a better product. Many times it is important to understand quality, time,
and cost to

the most important parts of any workout. To start, make sure to have a firm grip on

The Psychological Effects Of Colorblind Racism In Schools
Throughout American history, racism has been a prominent problem. From the time
of the country s founding, the people of the United States have dealt with religious
persecution, race based slavery, Jim Crow laws, border wars, and many more forms
of discrimination. The minority population, or the non white population, have been
treated unfairly from the time our country was founded until current times. All of
these misjudgments of minorities have left an impact on our history, but most
importantly, on the people that played a role in the different situations. When
thinking of racist actions, the majority of citizens would agree that it is unfair, but
not many would stop to consider the psychological effects racismcould have on
someone s mind. Particularly, the psychological effects of racism on young people.
Racism occurs in everyday places, everywhere around the United States, including
primary schools, secondary schools, and in higher education. The education system in
America has been changed by several people in power in order to reduce the amount
of prejudice in classrooms, but that does not mean it does not still exist in today s
schools.
There are several types of racism that happen particularly inside schools. One
example is colorblind racism. As written on by Dipti Desai, colorblind racism is the
theory that racism no longer exists, and that all citizens are presented with equal
opportunities. Many scholars believe that the theory of colorblind racism only adds
The Life of Alexander Pope
An honest man s the noblest work of God. Alexander Pope life was rough as a child
because of his illness. In his early career, and even later in life he wrote a lot of
famous poets. Alexander Pope lived his life as a famous writer until death from his
childhood sickness
Alexander Pope an, English poet was born on May 21, 1688 on Lombard Street in
London. His father, Alexander Pope, a Roman Catholic, was a linen draper who
afterwards retired from business with a small fortune, and fixed his home on 1700
at Binfield in Windsor Forest. Pope s education was a purpose to his father s
religion so that excluded him from the public schools. Before he was twelve he had
obtained a slight knowledge of Latin and Greek language masters from a priest in
Hampshire. Pope also received other masters from a school in Twyford near
Winchester, Thomas Deane School in Marylebone, and later Hyde Park Corner.
Between the age of twelve and seventeen there were a lot of applications for pope to
study. During the process it weakened his health, and he developed tuberculosis of
the spine which left him crippled and harmed his view of life in so many ways. Pope
then thought of himself dying, but a friend Thomas Southcott, gave him advice about
a famous physician named John Radcliffe, which he prescribed a diet and exercise.
Under this treatment the boy recovered his strength and spirits. He thought himself

Dead Poet s Society
What motivates people to live their own life? Why do people decide not to
conform to all others and exist as their own being? Carpe diem, or seize the day, is
one of the main themes and overall message of Dead Poets Society and a strong
motivator in the lives of Mr. Keating s class. The theme is not created by Keating,
however, but introduced through the poem To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time
, in which the speaker warns the audience to not delay and live their lives to the
fullest. To conclude that this poem best exemplifies the meaning of Dead Poets
Society, one must evaluate the themes of the movie, and look at how the message
of carpe diem was applied in the classroom and in the actions of Knox Overstreet.
Dead Poets Society contains many themes of great importance. Within Welton,
conformity is the only way to succeed. As Mr. McCallister says in the dining scene

Keating preaches carpe diem, the boys learn from him in their own unique ways.
Knox Overstreet takes the advice to heart, literally. He uses Mr. Keating s Carpe
Diem speech to inspire him to pursue his love, despite all odds. While considering
to call her, Knox exclaims, She s gonna hate me. The Danburrys will hate me. My
parents will kill me. , and after a brief, silent stare from his friends, he says, All
right, goddamn it. You re right. Carpe diem. Even if it kills me (Dead Poets
Society). This shows that the advice that Mr. Keating is trying to instill in his
students has burrowed its way into their heads and ingrained itself in their heads.
The poem mimics this ideology of carpe diem, especially in the field of love. The
poem says, Then be not coy, but use your time, / And while ye may, go marry; / For
having lost but once your prime, / You may forever tarry (Herrick 13 16), to which
Herrick literally implores the reader to find love and hold it tightly, and figuratively

The discovery of Lucy is our oldest and most complete human ancestor. She is less
than 3.8 million years old hominid of Australopithecus afarensis, which was
discovered in November 24, 1974 by Donald C. Johanson and Tom Gray in the Hadar
region of Ethiopia.
They named her Lucy in reference to the well known Beatles song Lucy in the Sky

The joint could lock , suggesting the animal could walk upright. This was an
important discovery showing an ancient bipedal creature. If the bones age was
consistent with Johanson s hypothesized missing link , it would serve as supporting
evidence to Johanson s theory.
Lucy s entire skeleton was found about two and a half kilometers from the site in
which the bipedal knee joint was found. The conclusion that both fossils originate
from the same species is questionable, and might have been influenced by Johanson s
pre existing biases. While only forty percent of the skeleton was found.
The scientist predict that Lucy is at least 20 years old because her wisdom teeth
had fully come in. Her head looked primitive and her brain was not much bigger
than a chimpanzee s. She was an ape with a human looking body but
underdeveloped skull and brain. We obviously still had a long way to come in the
3.18 million years between then and now, but Lucy already showed clear differences
from the normal apes. The shape of her hip bones and her upright posture means that
Lucy is closer to us than the chimpanzee. Knowing that Lucy could walk on two legs
and was about 3 6 tall.
The habitat is predicted a mix of woodland, where they hunt for food on the ground
and in trees, along with more open areas where they would have walked upright.
Evidence from their teeth suggest that this hominine ate soft fruits and leaves but was
also adapted to eat harder, more brittle
The Badlands And Lakota Land
When the Sioux migrated to the Great Plains area, they most certainly came across
the the Badlands in their discovery. The name Badlands is derived from the Lakota
phrase makИџГіЕЎiДЌa, meaning Land of Bad Spirits. Today, some Lakota believe
that the Badlands are a place to be avoided because it is where bad spirits exist.
This paper will discuss the geographic location, geological formation, Lakota
legends, reasons the site is visited, time or seasons to visit and Lakota stargazing
associated with the site. When applicable, Lakota words will be provided.
Geographic Location and Geology
The Badlands are geographically located in Southwest South Dakota, the Southern
Unit being within the Pine Ridge Reservation. The Oglala Lakota Nation co manages
the Southern Unit of Badlands National Park.
The Badlands were deposited in layers over millions of years. The layers are
constructed of sediments such as sand, silt, and clay that have been cemented
together into sedimentary rocks. Different environments caused different sediments
to accumulate there at different times. The oldest formations are at the bottom and
the youngest are at the top.
The black Pierre Shale is the bottom layer of the Badlands and was deposited
between 69 and 75 million years ago when a shallow sea stretched across what is
now the Great Plains. Sediment filtered through the seawater, forming a black mud
on the sea floor that has since hardened into shale. Fossil clams, ammonites, and sea

The Pledge Of Allegiance Pros And Cons
Part one:
Seventy three years ago Congress got the United States out of what had turned into
an unexpectedly embarrassing situation. It concerned the Pledge of Allegiance
specifically, something called the Bellamy Salute Most people today have likely
never heard of it, but the Bellamy Salute was once a constant part of the country s
life. Until 1892, there was no such thing as a Pledge of Allegiance(Greene) The
Pledge of Allegiance of the United States is an expression of allegiance to the Flag of
the United States and the republic of theUnited States of America, originally
composed by Francis Bellamy in 1892 and formally adopted by Congress as the
pledge in 1942.[1] The official name of The Pledge of Allegiance was adopted in
1945. The last change in language came on Flag Day 1954 when the words under
God were added. But since that day, lots of controversies happened regarding
adding the word Under God . This event made some Americans upset. Pledging our
allegiance to a flag that flies over a nation under God has become a point of
contention for some. Gwen Wilde, a student at Tufts University, explains in her
essay, Why the Pledge of Allegiance Should Be Revised that the addition of the
words under God is inappropriate, and they are needlessly divisive an odd addition
indeed to a Nation that is said to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Exciting Program For The Creation Of Digital Art
There is a wide variety of exciting programs available for the creation of digital art.
From desktop applications to mobile apps, Creative Cloud carries an assortment of
digital art applications. Some programs focus on more specific mediums such as
unique drawings, picture improvements, or website designs. Adobe Illustrator (Ai)
is a digital drawing program, in Creative Cloud, that allows users to create drawings
for personal or industrial use. For example, the Enterprise High School art class
once used Adobe Illustrator to create t shirt designs for a local competition. After all,
graphic design studios worldwide use Adobe Illustrator to design and advertise
companies and their products. Yet, some people enjoy simply using Ai to transform

So, people have been creating digital art unknowingly for a rather long time. Other
computer programs have been developed over the years, the main provider being
Adobe Creative Cloud which contains both desktop and mobile applications.
Although, Adobe Creative Cloud and Autodesk are more popular tools for digital art
there are other applications unrelated to them just as exceptional. In addition, to the
ever changing world of technology, notebooks and sketchbooks have been made so
someone can sketch in them, and then transfer the drawing into a digital art
application with minimal effort. Prior to this, one would have to draw the picture
straight on the device or go through a long grueling and exasperating process to
transfer one drawing. For this reason, a company by the name of Moleskin created
these sketchbooks and notebooks that are so incredibly, wonderful to use. Thus,
broadening the horizon of possible ways to create digital art with the use of a smart
phone, laptop, tablet, and now sketchbooks it can be created anywhere at any time.
The simplicity of digital art programs excites anyone with an imagination to create
art endlessly. It has become the art of the future because it is a way to create art in a
non chaotic way. Although, creating DA is relatively simply there are still ways for
someone to learn how to use the more complex programs. Digital art is now being

preparing for my interview with a woman of my choosing. I decided to interview my
aunt Ms. Ms. Murphy Murphy. She is wife, a mother of two boys, and an educator to
young adolescents. Using the outline questions that assignment two provided, I was
able to complete an interview with Ms. Murphy and have the following conversation
about her paid and unpaid work. I took notes throughout the interview and listened
attentively. Comparing her paid and unpaid work, to the women in the assigned

Transmission Fluid Leaks
Checking for Transmission Fluid Leaks
If you have any concerns at all about your transmission, the first thing you should do
is check for transmission fluid leaks. Sometimes it s easy to determine that your
transmission fluid is leaking, and sometimes it takes a little bit more meddling to
figure out what s going on.
But either way, it s important to know the signs of fluid leaks. With any transmission
problems, the earlier you catch and attend to them, the better. Transmission issues
can lead to pricey repairs or even safety hazards. Therefore, make it your business to
know the signs of fluid leaks. They can be an indication of other potentially bigger
problems, and even if they aren t in your case, they re still trouble on their own. ...

If you can t start your car at all, that may mean that you have no transmission fluid
left to begin with. Your car needs to have normal transmission fluid levels to start, so
if it can t, that usually means it s been losing fluid.
в¦ЃThere Are Puddles in Your Driveway
This is one of the most obvious signs of transmission fluid leakage. Not every
puddle under your car is transmission fluid, so know what to look for. Transmission
fluid is usually red. It may be brownish sometimes, if it hasn t been changed for a
long time.
In addition, transmission fluid is slick, much like oil, and smells similar to
petroleum. Transmission fluid that hasn t been changed in a while may smell burnt.
If you identify a puddle in your driveway as transmission fluid, you can be pretty
certain you have a leak.
в¦ЃThe Puddles Are in the Right Places
If you do have a leak and you think it may be transmission fluid, the next thing you
should do is see where exactly in the car it s coming from. Transmission fluid can
drip from the middle and the front of your car, so if the puddles are forming under
those areas, it s probably a fluid leak. Take a good look at the leak placement and then

History of the Internet To imagine a life without the internet is to imagine a life
without so many advances in education, medicine and communication. The internet
has provided our society an effortless way to live our daily lives by obtaining
worldwide information at the click of a button. The superhighway is a variety of
network infrastructures that provide multimedia use to the public and that use has
allowed advances for the future. The internetwas developed 40 years ago during the

A Logic Named Joe A Logic Named Joe is a science fiction story about a logic , a
computer like device currently in every home, whether it s a desk top, tablet,
laptop, cell phone, cable box, etc. published in 1946. Logic is described to look
like: a vision receiver used to, only it s got keys instead of dials and you punch the
keys for what you wanna get. It s hooked in to the tank, which has the Carson Circuit
all fixed up with relays. This description sounds very much like our computer and
keyboards of today, however the relays were used in very early computers and
telecommunications.
Logic is given the name Joe to make it relatable. Joe is connected to a tank , which
could be consider the server farm powering the internet. Joe operates as the internet
does today in many scary ways. Joe has become a self aware rogue logic that provides

The Impact Of Sexism On Social Media
Women experience several occasions where they feel harassed or discriminated
because of their gender. There are things that need to change in order to make
women feel safe when exploring the internet. Sexism on social media has become a
major problem over the past years, it lowers the self esteem of women and makes
them feel inferior. As a society, there are changes that must be made in order to fix
this problem.
Sexist content on social media is becoming a bigger problem as more and more
people are using the internet daily. Both Yvette Cooper and Ashley Judd
, believe there
are several things people can do to fix this problem. Author Yvette Cooper states that
change on sexist content is vital because it not only affects women of this generation
but it also affects future generations. She believes that it s important society teaches
the next generations that sexism on social media is not normal. At the TEDWomen
event, actress Ashley Judd, talked about her experience and how she felt when she
would receive sexist comments online. She states the change is crucial and the
government has to do something to try and fix it. She states there has to be more
rules and regulations among the internet in order to stop sexism on social media. On
the other hand, Lebanese nut company, Alrifai, advertised their products in a sexist
manner. The nuts in the advertisements were compared to men and women and how
they are viewed based on their looks. Advertisements like these are proof that
The Americans With Disabilities Act ( Ada )
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) strictly prohibits discrimination and
ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in employment, State and local
government services, public accommodations, commercial facilities and
transportation. 1 This law, enacted in 1990, was created so that people with
disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else in society so that
they don t get left behind. The ADA gives civil rights protections to those with
disabilities in a similar way to other characteristics that individuals may have, whether
it is race, nationality, gender, age and/or religion.2
The ADA is split into five titles, each having a different sect of society they relate to.
Title I refers to employment, meaning that employment opportunities and benefits
should be equally accessible for people with or without a disability. Title II refers to
state and local government, meaning that any governing body must not discriminate
against those with disabilities when it comes to programs, activities or services they
offer. This portion ensures that architectural barriers to be identified, such as barriers
with public transportation systems. Title III refers to public accommodations
including privately owned and operated places such as restaurants, hotels, schools,
stadiums, etc. These facilities are required to meet minimum specifications when
built and existing buildings must remove any barriers that they can in order to
accommodate for people
Troilus and Cressida Commentary
Act I, Scene III of Troilus and Cressida by Shakespeare features members from the
Greek army. From lines 22 to 54, Nestor further applies a previous speech by
Agamemnon. The condition of the Greek army is stressed, as the war is not going
the way the Greeks would like. This is a dire situation in the Greek camp, and
these speeches aim to rally the troops to fight back in this war with the Trojans.
This excerpt is significant in that there is a good use of literary techniques to
demonstrate the importance of the war, and key themes are portrayed in this
passage. In Troilus and Cressida, Shakespeare expresses the importance of themes of
order and struggle through the use of literary devices such as metaphors, word choice,
tone, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fate was a significant theme in the play, and the use of capitalization illustrated
this importance. This passage is conveyed with a somber tone to get across the
point that what the Greeks and Trojans were faced with was in fact an important
situation. In the midst of war, it was vital for the soldiers to have a serious attitude.
This is demonstrated when Nestor says Doth valor s show and valor s worth
divide. (I:III: 46) This statement has a great meaning in that it indicates that
courageous looks and courageous actions are different in times of struggle. In
essence, he is saying that it does not matter for one to look brave, if his actions do
not display audacity. The war was not something to take loosely, and to simply look
like a smart soldier means nothing without the action to back it up. The tone used in
the excerpt goes along with the feeling of the war, and therefore the entire play, as
the characters constantly had to take what they were given and rise above it,
overcoming adversity. Shakespeare s incorporation of varying perspectives in this
excerpt has an added meaning of how different people can convey the same idea in
different ways. Following the speech given by Agamemnon, which was pretty much
straightforward, Nestor illustrated the same ideas in more figurative terms. It is
important to see Nestor s interpretation of these words,
The New York City s Government
New York City Government
New York City is the largest and one of the oldest cities in the United States, having
been rediscovered by Henry Hudson in 1609 while working for the Dutch East
Indies Company. New Amsterdam, as it was then known, was settled in 1614 by
Dutch fur traders and became the most important port in America. (Reed, 2011)
The two rivers flowing on each side of Manhattan grant easy access to the ocean,
and Henry Hudson remarked that the harbor was the best natural harbor he had ever
seen in the world. For hundreds of years the city has been at the epicenter of world
trade, and immigration to the new world. Millions of immigrants have filled the
streets of New York, from Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, and elsewhere.
The city of New York has not always had as positive of a city government as the
city s history may suggest, however. It has had a mixed political system since its
beginning, with its democratic principles in question as corruption has taken hold of
the city from time to time. Boss Tweed, a notorious mayor from the 1860s, was so
corrupt he was openly the mastermind of the city for thirty years. His huge profit
margins as a result of his control over the streetcar transportation system in that time
prevented the New York subway from being built until 1910. The Italian immigrants
who came from Sicily maintained traditional family ties, which soon became the
American Mafia, which controlled crime in the city from the 1920s until the
Argumentative Essay On Nuclear Power Plants
Nuclear power plants have many great benefits. However, there are also many costs
that the general public is very concerned with. These costs include nuclear accidents
that lead to catastrophic harmful affects towards the public health and the
environment when not careful. This is what makes it a very controversial subject on
whether a large city, such as Houston, should rely on nuclear powerplants for energy.
So, what is nuclear energy and how do nuclear power plants work? Nuclear energy is
the product of a neutron splitting a uraniumatom. When this happens it produces a
very large amount of energy. Then three neutrons from splitting apart a uranium
atom then split other uranium atoms and produce even more energy. This process
becomes self sustaining as more atoms are split. The energy created is used to
generate steam and the steam is able to spin turbines. When these turbines spin,
they can create electricity. This process is similar to the traditional processes of
forming energy. However, instead of generating steam, the other processes would
burn fossil fuels in order spin the turbines. The burning of fossil fuels contributes to
the increase of green house gas emissions, and this can be an environmental
concern. This is why nuclear energy is considered a clean source of energy since it
does not produce any greenhouse gasses. Nuclear power plants have actually become
more common because of the benefits. In fact, the US has the largest overall
generation of

Scene 1. Line 10) makes Macbeth feels that he s getting the crown reasonably, yet
he s really getting the crown erroneously by settling on the wrong choices (Langis).
Jorgensen discloses how Macbeth tries to hold his position of royalty by going to
three sisters. The witches caution Macbeth about Macduff in light of the fact that
the witches surmise that he is up to something and it can debilitate his desire, so
Macbeth sends officers to Macduff s mansion to execute him since he s as of now
feeling remorseful of murdering Duncan and when the fighters arrive Macduff had
as of now fled to Malcolm for his assistance to stop Macbeth, yet Macduff
committed an error of deserting his family and Macbeth kills Macduff s family since
it made Macbeth irate that Macduff went to go get assistance from Duncan s child
Malcolm. When Macduff returns again from England Ross admits to Macduff that
his family has been killed by Macbeth since he wasn t there. At that point Macduff
likewise sets an aspiration of slaughtering Macbeth, so he can get exact retribution for
the murder of his family (Jorgensen). Macbeth s goal makes him end up being
unmanly, so his significant other needs to invigorate him into holding his respected
position.

The First Battle Of Bull Run Essay
THE FIRST BATTLE OF BULL RUN
On July 21, 1861, two armies, one confederate and the other Union, prepared for the
first major land battle of the Civil War. In 1861 Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as
President.
The Southern states had seceded and the South had fired on and captured Fort Sumter
on April 12 1861.
After the Fort Sumter battle, both the North and the South began preparing for war
by raising armies. This was done quickly and neither side spent much time training
the troops. Both sides also did not know what a long and terrible war was ahead.
The first Battle of Bull Run took place near Manassas Junction, Virginia, an important

The Confederates at Manassas knew far ahead of this action due to many Southern
spies in Washington. The Southern troops spread in lines along eight miles of Bull
Run Creek. The heaviest Southern troops were on a ridge around Henry House. After
a few skirmishes, the Union Army arrived at Bull Run on July 21, 1861.
As the Union Army approached Bull Run, General Johnston s army faked an attack
at Harpers Ferry. As the 18,000 Union troops dug in for assault, the Southern forces
jumped on rail cars and headed for Bull Run to reinforce the Confederate Army.
General McDonnell attempted to flank the Confederates by moving north and west,
and began several attacks on the Confederates right flank and the center of the
Confederate line at Henry House.
As the battle wore on, the superior numbers of the Union Army began to wear
down the Confederate lines. At a critical point, as the Confederates began to fall
back, an officer pointed out a line of rebels who were still strong. He said, look at
Jackson s men standing like a stone wall . He was talking about General T. J.
Jackson s men. Jackson would from then on be known as Stonewall Jackson , one of
the most famous of all Confederate generals. This seemed to inspire the Southern

Women s Rights Of Women
I The history of women s rights is significant today because without the women
having their rights, America wouldn t be as developed as it it.
I chose this topic because Women s rights and their ability to be more free has
affected not only America, but every country that allows their women to be who they
are, do what they desire, and let them express themselves. When they were given their
rights, women had taken over everything for the better. They were creating success in
every aspect, women were modernizing and helping America every step.
Women s rights are important because without women getting their rights, there
wouldn t have been any big modernization in America. America would have been

Some good hearted, well thinking men, such as John Stuart Mill, and other
philosophers, had joined the NWRC. By 1896 the National Women Suffrage
Association led by Alice Paul, had created the aspiration of giving women the right to
vote, and they encouraged women to work outside of their home and stop doing all
the domestic tasks. This declaration, the National Women s Rights Convention, and
the National Women Suffrage Association, all had helped women become more
social and gave them some political power to decide who they want as their leader.
Which slowly gave women the confidence to talk to a man without being frightened.
Later on the dream of the National Women Suffrage Association and National Women
s Rights Convention came true. On August 18, 1920, the 19th amendment was put in
place. The 19th amendment gave women the right to vote, to chose who they wanted
to lead the country they were apart of. The 19th amendment was a key event that
helped the women gain all the rights men had. Though race had played a part on the
journey to women s rights. Even though women did receive their rights by 1920,

Kid Essay Samples.pdf

  • 1. Kid Essay Samples Crafting an essay on the subject of "Kid Essay Samples" can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate balance between capturing the innocence and curiosity of children while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative. The difficulty lies in weaving together anecdotes and observations that not only showcase the essence of childhood but also adhere to the conventions of a well-structured essay. Firstly, one must navigate the fine line between sentimentality and objectivity. While it's crucial to convey the pure and unfiltered experiences of children, it's equally important to maintain a level of critical analysis that engages the reader. Striking this balance can be a nuanced task, as it involves tapping into personal memories or observations without succumbing to overly sentimental prose. Additionally, finding the right tone is a challenge. The language should be accessible and reflective of a child's perspective, yet it must also demonstrate a mature understanding of the topic. Creating a narrative that resonates with both younger and older audiences requires a nuanced choice of words and an understanding of the diverse audience that may read the essay. Structuring the essay is another hurdle. From introducing the theme to developing a coherent narrative and drawing meaningful conclusions, each section requires careful consideration. Ensuring a smooth flow while addressing the multifaceted aspects of "Kid Essay Samples" can be a complex task that demands meticulous planning and organization. Lastly, there's the challenge of originality. Given the ubiquity of topics related to children, finding a unique angle or perspective that stands out from the myriad existing essays is no small feat. It requires creativity, a fresh outlook, and the ability to present commonplace experiences in a new light. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Kid Essay Samples" involves a series of intricate challenges, including striking the right balance between sentimentality and objectivity, navigating tone complexities, structuring the narrative effectively, and infusing originality into a well-trodden topic. Despite these challenges, the rewarding aspect lies in capturing the essence of childhood and sharing it with an audience. • 5. Zoe s Kitchen ZoГ«s Kitchen began in 1995 as a family run restaurant in Homewood, Alabama. The company s owner, president CEO, John Cassismus had turned his attention from his own business ventures to the family business, with desires to build a world class company. Mostly frequented by mothers with small children and white collar employees in the area, the restaurant catered to those consumers with a desire for healthy foods at comparatively lower prices. As of December 2005 there were 16 locations in five different states. The brand was strong and synonymous with freshness, home style goodness and family recipes. The focused differentiation strategy largely depends on a buyer segment that seeks special product attributes (i.e. healthier food, lower comparative cost, quick service) and on the company s ability to stand apart from its rivals (Thompson et. al, 153). In its uniqueness, ZoГ«s Kitchen has the ability to be different and had no national rivals emulating its format or menu. SWOT AnalysisStrengthsIt is clear that the major strength for ZoГ«s Kitchen is its people. First, John Cassismus himself is an asset worth discussing. John built the company from a single, family run restaurant into the existing 16 location operation. Dear to his heart, John fostered the business which was inspired from the kitchen of his very own mother, ZoГ«. He was described as being optimistic, sales oriented, an entrepreneur, a visionary and hard working. Two previous successful ventures gave John the knowledge and experience he would require. ZoГ«s Kitchen s growth may even be linked to the effect of a learning/experience curve (Thompson et. al, 53). While John s experiences didn t necessarily provide large economies of scale (for cost cutting purposes), his knowledge did allow him to recognize the importance of excellent human resource management, a clearly defined strategy, building brand loyalty and strong business systems. Second, John built a healthy workforce with well trained employees. Stores had very little turnover; many of the employees had been with

The critique team would add that there is likely to be cannibalization of the catalogue business because the models are so closely related. Staples should commission a study to find estimated rates of cannibalization so that an orderly response can be implemented. The analysis team is also correct that Staples.com should focus on market share over wallet share. The market is very large and growing fast. The critique team would add that by capturing online market share ahead of competitors, Staples.com can reduce the cost of overcoming competitor customer loyalty in the online market. The switching cost will still be absent for many customers that are new to the internet office supplies market. The critique team would add that Staples catalogue business increased wallet share by a factor of three. This is the very business that will likely be cannibalized in the ordinary course of business by opening the online store. Staples should not spend too much money on trying to increase wallet share when it will likely be transitioning between business units. However, Staples should still take the opportunity to market services as a way to expand customer wallet. All marketing expenditures on promoting new services market share will spill over into wallet share. Any wallet share campaign on services should be lower priority than market share marketing. 3. Do you think that Staples.com

Psychologists such as Alton Adler and Francis Galton spearheaded research on this topic, and their conclusions are cited as references for those who support the idea. There recently have been studies conducted that strive to overturn this theory by showing how different variables can affect the results of our development. (Beck) There are those who stand by early research and support distinct groups of characteristics only being exhibited by people sharing a certain birth order. There are others; however, who oppose this idea and instead favor growth as an individual experience not limited by expectations. There are factors to consider regarding personality such as family environment, genetics, cultural background, and financial disposition. These factors were not included in the primary research of both Alton Adler and Francis Galton. One author, Julie Beck, took notice of how low insight was given to such a broad claim. She states, The idea that birth order determines siblings personality and intelligence remains entrenched in society, even as modern scientific findings on the matter have historically been inconsistent (Beck). Those who are against the birth order theory claim these inconsistencies occur because the idea is being presented as fact on a scale larger than its original base. Created in 1900, 12 prominent universities assisted in forming the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB). The organization help to standardize the admission process for universities and cultivate secondary curriculum. At the time, there was widespread fear amongst elite leaders about the increasing growth of the immigrant population in the U.S. Many university administrators were concerned about the explosion and the effects this would have on their student populations. Introduce in 1926, the SATbecame a covert means for universities to selectively choose potential candidates, although during the earlier part of the twentieth century, college was primarily for the elite. Since these assessments measured aptitude, postsecondary institutions relied on the test to standardize the process for student s academic outcomes and determine if they were qualified for prominent universities (Berger, 2012). University administrators realized the SAT s could be used to select the best candidates for admission and it also could be used to resolve the issue of overpopulating colleges with students who were not

With awards totaling south of over seventy total wins and over 100 nominations, the Dark Knight Rises remains to be everything a film needs to be to always remain a timeless classic. The method the team used to overwhelm the world with this immaculate trilogy was to create the last installment as more than just a film, but as a piece of art as well. Many methods were used to reach this profound approach to filmmaking, however it was the brilliant cinematography, the acting that brought the characters to life, and the director s genius ending that transitioned the Dark KnightRises from an ordinary film, into an admired piece of art to all. One of the major reasons for the success of the Dark Knight Rises film is because of its award winning cinematography that the brilliant Mr. Wally Pfister orchestrated throughout the vigorous 3 hour film. This initially comes as something of a shock when one considers the common paradigm of Jesus as a figure of peace who only preaches forgiveness and nonviolence. One of the most interesting parables in the Gospel of Luke which contradicts this paradigm is one which describes a steward who is physically violent towards the servants of his master s estate. Commenting on this story, and referring to the abusive steward, Jesus promises that his master [God] will come on a day he does not expect and ... will cut him off and send him to the same fate as the unfaithful (12. 45 46). Adding to this, Jesus then continues with, I have come to bring fire to the earth. Do you suppose that I am here to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on, a household of five will be divided: three against two and two against three (12. 51 52). This quote by Jesus firstly implies that the violence of the steward toward the servants is unjustified. This implication comes from the vow that God will punish the steward for his violence. In his article titled Christian Pharisees and the Scandalous Ethics of Jesus, Patrick Colm Hogan writes that, in this parable, the steward clearly represents the earthly rulers, both spiritual

  • 34. The Psychological Effects Of Colorblind Racism In Schools Throughout American history, racism has been a prominent problem. From the time of the country s founding, the people of the United States have dealt with religious persecution, race based slavery, Jim Crow laws, border wars, and many more forms of discrimination. The minority population, or the non white population, have been treated unfairly from the time our country was founded until current times. All of these misjudgments of minorities have left an impact on our history, but most importantly, on the people that played a role in the different situations. When thinking of racist actions, the majority of citizens would agree that it is unfair, but not many would stop to consider the psychological effects racismcould have on someone s mind. Particularly, the psychological effects of racism on young people. Racism occurs in everyday places, everywhere around the United States, including primary schools, secondary schools, and in higher education. The education system in America has been changed by several people in power in order to reduce the amount of prejudice in classrooms, but that does not mean it does not still exist in today s schools. There are several types of racism that happen particularly inside schools. One example is colorblind racism. As written on by Dipti Desai, colorblind racism is the theory that racism no longer exists, and that all citizens are presented with equal opportunities. Many scholars believe that the theory of colorblind racism only adds

Alexander Pope lived his life as a famous writer until death from his childhood sickness Alexander Pope an, English poet was born on May 21, 1688 on Lombard Street in London. His father, Alexander Pope, a Roman Catholic, was a linen draper who afterwards retired from business with a small fortune, and fixed his home on 1700 at Binfield in Windsor Forest. Pope s education was a purpose to his father s religion so that excluded him from the public schools. Before he was twelve he had obtained a slight knowledge of Latin and Greek language masters from a priest in Hampshire. Pope also received other masters from a school in Twyford near Winchester, Thomas Deane School in Marylebone, and later Hyde Park Corner. Between the age of twelve and seventeen there were a lot of applications for pope to study. During the process it weakened his health, and he developed tuberculosis of the spine which left him crippled and harmed his view of life in so many ways. Pope then thought of himself dying, but a friend Thomas Southcott, gave him advice about a famous physician named John Radcliffe, which he prescribed a diet and exercise. Under this treatment the boy recovered his strength and spirits. He thought himself the better, Spence says, Alexander Pope. 28 October 2006. 7 November 2011.

Carpe diem, or seize the day, is one of the main themes and overall message of Dead Poets Society and a strong motivator in the lives of Mr. Keating s class. The theme is not created by Keating, however, but introduced through the poem To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time , in which the speaker warns the audience to not delay and live their lives to the fullest. To conclude that this poem best exemplifies the meaning of Dead Poets Society, one must evaluate the themes of the movie, and look at how the message of carpe diem was applied in the classroom and in the actions of Knox Overstreet. Dead Poets Society contains many themes of great importance. Within Welton, conformity is the only way to succeed. Keating preaches carpe diem, the boys learn from him in their own unique ways. Knox Overstreet takes the advice to heart, literally. He uses Mr. Keating s Carpe Diem speech to inspire him to pursue his love, despite all odds. While considering to call her, Knox exclaims, She s gonna hate me. The Danburrys will hate me. My parents will kill me. , and after a brief, silent stare from his friends, he says, All right, goddamn it. You re right. Carpe diem. Even if it kills me (Dead Poets Society). This shows that the advice that Mr. Keating is trying to instill in his students has burrowed its way into their heads and ingrained itself in their heads. The poem mimics this ideology of carpe diem, especially in the field of love. The poem says, Then be not coy, but use your time, / And while ye may, go marry; / For having lost but once your prime, / You may forever tarry (Herrick 13 16), to which Herrick literally implores the reader to find love and hold it tightly, and figuratively continues the theme of seizing the day before it s too

The conclusion that both fossils originate from the same species is questionable, and might have been influenced by Johanson s pre existing biases. While only forty percent of the skeleton was found. This passage is conveyed with a somber tone to get across the point that what the Greeks and Trojans were faced with was in fact an important situation. In the midst of war, it was vital for the soldiers to have a serious attitude. This is demonstrated when Nestor says Doth valor s show and valor s worth divide. (I:III: 46) This statement has a great meaning in that it indicates that courageous looks and courageous actions are different in times of struggle. In essence, he is saying that it does not matter for one to look brave, if his actions do not display audacity. The war was not something to take loosely, and to simply look like a smart soldier means nothing without the action to back it up. The tone used in the excerpt goes along with the feeling of the war, and therefore the entire play, as the characters constantly had to take what they were given and rise above it, overcoming adversity. Shakespeare s incorporation of varying perspectives in this excerpt has an added meaning of how different people can convey the same idea in different ways. Following the speech given by Agamemnon, which was pretty much straightforward, Nestor illustrated the same ideas in more figurative terms. It is important to see Nestor s interpretation of these words,

The New York City s Government New York City Government New York City is the largest and one of the oldest cities in the United States, having been rediscovered by Henry Hudson in 1609 while working for the Dutch East Indies Company. New Amsterdam, as it was then known, was settled in 1614 by Dutch fur traders and became the most important port in America. (Reed, 2011) The two rivers flowing on each side of Manhattan grant easy access to the ocean, and Henry Hudson remarked that the harbor was the best natural harbor he had ever seen in the world. For hundreds of years the city has been at the epicenter of world trade, and immigration to the new world. Millions of immigrants have filled the streets of New York, from Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, and elsewhere. The city of New York has not always had as positive of a city government as the city s history may suggest, however. It has had a mixed political system since its beginning, with its democratic principles in question as corruption has taken hold of the city from time to time. Boss Tweed, a notorious mayor from the 1860s, was so corrupt he was openly the mastermind of the city for thirty years. His huge profit margins as a result of his control over the streetcar transportation system in that time prevented the New York subway from being built until 1910. These costs include nuclear accidents that lead to catastrophic harmful affects towards the public health and the environment when not careful. This is what makes it a very controversial subject on whether a large city, such as Houston, should rely on nuclear powerplants for energy. So, what is nuclear energy and how do nuclear power plants work? Nuclear energy is the product of a neutron splitting a uraniumatom. When this happens it produces a very large amount of energy. Then three neutrons from splitting apart a uranium atom then split other uranium atoms and produce even more energy. This process becomes self sustaining as more atoms are split. The energy created is used to generate steam and the steam is able to spin turbines. When these turbines spin, they can create electricity. This process is similar to the traditional processes of forming energy. However, instead of generating steam, the other processes would burn fossil fuels in order spin the turbines. The burning of fossil fuels contributes to the increase of green house gas emissions, and this can be an environmental concern. This is why nuclear energy is considered a clean source of energy since it does not produce any greenhouse gasses. Nuclear power plants have actually become more common because of the benefits. In fact, the US has the largest overall generation of
