In the novel Nervous Conditions, Tsitsi Dangarembga explores the concepts of power and
oppression. Speaking up about oppression can liberate a person, so the people in charge do not
want the oppressed to speak up. In Nervous Conditions, males have much more dominance in
life than females. Maiguru, Nyasha, and Lucia all attempt to stand up for themselves against
oppression, with little success. Dangarembga develops the characters Maiguru, Nyasha, and
Lucia in order to convey how speaking out against oppression is necessary but not sufficient to
gain power. Nyasha vocally resists when she feels oppressed because she refuses to accept being
controlled. However, as a child, she must defer to her parents whether she likes it or not. Early
in the novel, Maiguru questions if Nyasha should read Lady Chatterly s Lover, a book that

Vashistha said, Whatever infatuates is not real beauty. It is a malady instead. It is mere lust and

Unless Brahma brought an end to the endless discussion time would run out. Hermits were due to
return go back to earth before sunset. Even though Indra was the emperor of gods, he was the
youngest and has eternal youth. He was after luxury and indulgence. He was aggressive and
materialistic. Hence, it was normal that his opinion differed from that of Gautama. Brahma
probably wanted to expose the difference between them in front of all.
Vishnu concluded the meeting with these words. Each experience leads to the appreciation of
morality and nonviolence. That is also the goal of beauty. Without it, there will be ugliness in the

everlasting boundless beauty. That is the Brahman.
Brahma added, Beauty creates happiness beyond senses. It is spiritual. It is the resolution of
questions related to life, mind, and soul. Even if it depends on earthly materials, beauty is never a
material itself. It not only values but also achieves its primal goal. The expression and realization
of beauty are forever. It suffices to say beauty leads a man towards salvation.
Brahma indirectly supported Gautama over Indra. While both were his students, he always
