Essay On Family Values. Family Values Assignment Example Topics and Well Written Essays ...
1. Essay On Family Values
Writing an essay on the topic of family values is a task that, at first glance, may seem deceptively
simple. After all, one might assume that discussing the values inherent in familial relationships is
a straightforward endeavor. However, delving into the intricacies of this subject reveals a myriad
of challenges.
To begin with, defining the concept of family values itself can be a complex undertaking. Family
structures vary widely, encompassing diverse cultural, social, and personal contexts. Attempting
to encapsulate these variations within the confines of an essay requires a nuanced understanding
and a delicate balance. Striking the right tone and avoiding generalizations become crucial, as
the meaning of family and its values can differ significantly from one individual or community
to another.
Moreover, the topic of family values is deeply personal for many. Emotions, experiences, and
subjective perspectives often come into play, making it challenging to present an objective and
universally applicable analysis. Balancing the personal and the universal aspects of family values
demands a thoughtful approach to avoid alienating readers with differing viewpoints or
experiences.
Researching the historical evolution of family values adds another layer of complexity. Tracing
the changes in societal expectations and cultural norms over time requires thorough investigation
and a keen understanding of historical context. Addressing the impact of external factors such as
economic shifts, technological advancements, or geopolitical events further complicates the task.
Crafting a coherent and compelling narrative on family values also necessitates addressing
contemporary issues. The challenges faced by families in the modern world, including shifting
gender roles, globalization, and the influence of digital technology, add layers of complexity to
the discussion. Keeping the essay relevant and up-to-date requires staying informed about
current societal trends and debates.
In conclusion, writing an essay on family values involves navigating through a complex web of
personal, cultural, historical, and contemporary considerations. It demands a delicate balance
between subjectivity and objectivity, and a nuanced understanding of the diverse ways in which
individuals and societies perceive and uphold these values. It is not merely an exercise in
stringing words together but a thoughtful exploration that requires time, effort, and a genuine
commitment to understanding the multifaceted nature of familial relationships.

2. The Happiest Refugee Essay
The development of acceptance is a process laid upon several significant factors, and
by belonging in community settings, one may gain confidence and feel tolerated.
Likewise, being alienated and ostracised because of racial and social insecurities can
have a negative influence on how one may act, and thus outcasts are made to feel
inferior as a result of the harmful manner in which they are treated. These concepts of
inclusion and discriminationare explored through the contemporary memoir of Anh
Do, which focuses on a refugee s journey from Vietnam to Australia. The Happiest
Refugee (2010) methodically displays an array of perspectives surrounding belonging
and presents factors of both family and community allegiance.

This sample utilizes emotive language in the words scarred and distorted as Anh is
unsure of his feelings towards his father and is lacking self confidence. The simile of
bubbling poison describing the pain and discomfort of crossing that line demonstrates
how torn Anh was between protecting his sense of self or protecting his family. This
fractured self belief leads to a dilemma of patriotism versus antagonism with the
relationship between him and his father. The ruptured devotion of family traditions
encountered by individuals creates different aspects of camaraderie and subsequently,
The Happiest Refugee portrays various perspectives on the essence of belonging.
An individual s ability to vary their own judgement of others, and influence others
viewpoint, can lead to a more tolerant and permissive community. The intrinsic nature
of citizenry alliance is highly relatable to Anh Do s experiences in The Happiest
Refugee, revealed through the constant repetition of gratitude, along with
vulnerability. Ideas of positivity and empathy are made apparent with the quote What
a great country! Almost every day we discovered something that made mum and dad
shake their heads at how lucky we d been... What a great country! as the repetition of
the words What a great country demonstrates the high
3. Essay On Nascar
Is nascar a dangerous sport? Nascar is dangerous but not as dangerous as you
think. Many people think nascar is one of the most dangerous sports. Nascar has
changed dramatically over the past few years. Nascar has many different rule to
make sure people stay safe. Nascar drivers have to do certain things just to get behind
the wheel for the first time. When nascarwas first introduced in 1948, they didn t
have very many rules at all. I m going to explain how nascar has changed from 1948
to 2017.
Nascar was first invented February 21, 1948. In June 19, 1948, was the first nascar
race ever. They didn t have many safety rules or safety barriers. So yes back then

benefits were immediate, as no drivers suffered significant injuries as a result of
contact with the safer barrier. Nascar officials then went to Lincoln, Neb., for a
series of tests using heavier stock cars, and came away impressed. Within the next
two years, nearly every track on the Cup schedule would have safer barriers at key
locations. Every decade, there s a significant improvement in the level of
understanding of energy management. Sicking said.
So do you still think nascar is dangerous? Yes it has its dangerous moments but
safety has came a long way. Many people died to enforce safety to happen. Nascar
isn t as dangerous anymore. They are still making safety changes to make drivers
more safe. No matter how much nascar tries to make safe changes there will still be
some dangerous things. Although anything in life has some danger. Nascar hasn t
had someone die since 2001. In my opinion nascar is almost as safe as it can

In the opinion of historian and author of The Australian Legend Russel Ward, his
representation of the typical Australian is a practical, rough man who gives things a

egalitarianism, larrikinism, anti intellectualism and stoicism. Published in 1958,
these ideologies symbolize the typical man in the days in was written, whereas
nowadays it can be perceived differently with modern, multicultural Australians.
Though most of the ideas are still accurate to todays people, it was only focused on
the men, and not the women or general society including the indigenous. I have

5. The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao
Junot Diaz s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, set in the late 1900 s, tells a
story of Oscar Wao, an overweight Dominican ghetto nerd , his mother and
rebellious sister who live together in Paterson, New Jersey. Throughout the novel
Diaz incorporates many different stories about each character that show acts of
resistance. One of the most prominent stories of resistance in the novel is through
Oscar s mom; Beli, who is prompted by great tragedy, known as the Trujillo curse, to
love atomically and thus follows a dangerous path. Beli s familyhistory plays a large
role in her choices that eventually compel her into a different life than what her
adopted mother, La Inca, had wanted for her.
Beli resisting La Inca portrays her downfall, because Beli makes choices against La
Inca s desires that will harm her. She is unaware of her history and background of
the Abelard family, other than the fact that La Inca continuously tells Beli that her
father was a doctor and her mother was a nurse. Abelard Luis Cabral was Oscar and
Lola s grandfather, the man who said something bad about Trujillo, thus eventually
sending the fukГє curse down to Beli. Diaz writes In those long days before
delincuencia and bank failures, before Diaspora the Cabrals were numbered
among the High of the Land (211). The Cabral s held a high place in society, but it
was not until Abelard Cabral upset Trujillo that he was sentenced to the curse of

6. Expansion Of The Westward Expansion
The United States Westward Expansion The westward expansion of the United
States of America, also known as manifest destiny occurred between 1783, just after
the Revolutionary war ended and lasted towards the end of the Reconstruction era in
1877. There were many foreign polices along with treaties introduced in order to
expand the size of the United States, and to acquire or settle in the unknown regions
of North America. Some regions were inhabited by other countries and many
people compromised their values or belief systems in order to settle all across this
continent. The expansion of North America along with the help of the Manifest
Destiny movement helped expand and create modern day America. The United
States expanding into what is present day America was not an easy task to
complete. It started off with England and the United States being involved in a war
called the Revolutionary war. The war started because America had just claimed
their independence from England, along with some territory. It was not an easy
battle for the two countries, England losing control over an entire continent was a
hard loss for them. This battle took place on April 19th, 1775 and soon ended on
September 3rd, 1783. The British and Americans had ended the war with a treaty of
independence for America. This treaty had stated that the war over the 13 colonies
was over and that the British would finally recognize America s independence and
their claimed territory. The 1783 Paris Treaty
7. Metaphor In Food
Can food be used as a metaphor to organize the story of a book? Food is used as a
symbol, conceit, and a metaphor in many different ways. Cooking food can be a
symbol and represent many things that will move the story along. Food expresses
the emotions of those who prepare it. All the things a person puts into a meal, not
necessarily the ingredients, are expressed in the end product and reflected in those
who eat it. It also helps shape the relationships and build up the plot. One example of
how emotion is expressed is through foodthat has bad memories linked to the food. A
food that brings up bad memories for Tita is eggs. This is seen through the quote,
...the egg whites reminded Tita of the testicles of the chickens they had castrated...

This food comes up in Chapter 3 when Tita received roses from Pedro. Remove the
petals carefully from the roses, trying not to prick your fingers, for not only are the
little wounds painful but the petals could soak up blood that might alter the flavor
of the dish and even produce dangerous chemical reactions (Esquivel 47). The roses
are a symbol of love memories, and sexual desire, as depicted in this quote. Pedro
is clearly trying to show his affection to Tita, in a way that still is slightly subtle.
Roses are a widely known way of pronouncing your love for someone, as shown in
this book. When Tita prepared the food, the desire was reflected into it. After
consuming it, it almost ignited a fire in gertrudis to find a man. With that meal it
seems they had discovered a new system of communication, in which Tita was the
transmitter, Pedro the receiver and poor Gertrudis the medium . (Esquivel 52). In
this quote, Tita and Pedro were trying to express their love, and Gertrudis was
almost caught in the middle of it. The desire Tita poured into the meal was almost
caught by Gertrudis instead of being rightfully sent to Pedro. Roses are a way of
showing your emotions to people without directly saying it. Whether it is directly
giving it to them or cooking it, roses are a channel through which love is transferred

8. The Representation of the В‘Bond Girl Essay
Whenever there is a Bond film, there is always a Bond girl. She is as indispensable
as the gadgets, the car, the chase and the villain set on overtaking the earth.
They have always been in the centre of controversy; they have always been branded
as beautiful women (often with sexually overt names) who need Bond and
ironically, Bond cannot complete his mission without them. They always seem to
have perfection in everything they do. However, this portrayal of women can be
somewhat unrealistic. Some may want the representation of the В‘Bond Girl to stay
as it is but others may want the portrayal of the В‘Bond Girl to depict the modern
idea of В‘girl power.

Another purpose of the Bond Girl is simply to provide the audience with the right
mixture of glamour, glitz and showbiz. Their image also helps reinforce Bond s
reputation of being irresistible and in command.
Nevertheless, all that glamour usually comes with a price. Being a Bond Girl has
frequently been at once the pinnacle of an aspiring actress career and the end of it.
For example, Shirley Eaton, best remembered for being painted gold in Goldfinger
back in 1964. Nobody remembers her at all. Nobody remembers how her husband
died young and how she struggled to find other major roles after being all gold for
Sean Connery. It was the beginning and the end for her in one shimmering
moment. The Bond girl seemed a celebration of newly liberated female sexuality.
However, that is the illusion of the Bond philosophy, because when it comes to
making it as an actress, all that glitters in a Bond movie is definitely not gold. Once
the public has seen you in a Bond Movie as a Bond Girl, they automatically
conclude that you are В‘dumb because, portraying a Bond girl isn t exactly a stretch
for a young aspiring actress.
All Bond Girls come with the regular accessories, a body to die for and one that
looks best in bikinis, permanent good hair days, a weird name (e.g. Kissy Suzuki)
and plus the ability to coo В‘oh James! as she slides between the satin sheets with Mr

complete idea of the man. Michael Faraday was born at Newington Butts, on
September 22, 1791, and he died at Hampton Court, on August 25, 1867. When

At this time he was acquiring, not producing; working hard for his master and
storing and strengthening his own mind. He assisted Mr. Brande in his lectures,
and so quietly, skillfully, and modestly was his work done, that Mr. Brande s
vocation at the time was pronounced lecturing on velvet. In 1820 Faraday published
a chemical paper on two new compounds of chlorine and carbon, and on a new
compound of iodine, carbon, and hydrogen. This paper was read before the Royal
Society on December 21, 1820, and it was the first of his that was honored with a
place in the Philosophical Transactions. On June 12, 1821, he married, and obtained
leave to bring his young wife into his rooms at the Royal Institution. There for forty
six years they lived together, occupying the suite of apartments which had been
previously in the successive occupancy of Young, Davy, and Brande. At the time of
her marriage Mrs. Faraday was twenty one years of age, he being nearly thirty.
Oersted, in 1820, discovered the action of a voltaic current on a magnetic needle; and
immediately afterwards the splendid intellect of Ampere succeeded in showing that
every magnetic phenomenon then known might be reduced to the mutual action of
electric currents. This attracted Faraday s attention to the subject. He read much
about it; and in the months of July, August, and September he wrote a history of the
progress of electromagnetism, which he published in Thomson s
10. What Is Beauty In Society
The definition of beauty can vary between person to person. For centuries, beauty
was seen to satisfy other people but oneself. Beauty can be judged on the clothes one
puts on to wear, the makeup that is being used, the hairstyle that keeps up with the
latest fashion and even the shape of one s body. In this generation, we are raised in
an indestructible bubble of judgement. Beauty can also be seen as an ornament.
People cover their Christmas trees with ornaments to make it more appealing to
the eye, the same goes with human beings. Specifically females try to present
themselves in ways society tells them is right. However, underneath all of the
ribbons and ornaments is a simple tree with great personality. Beauty is in the eye
of the beholder. This statement is used vigorously throughout society and is seen
as an empowering statement with women. However, it should be rewritten as,
beauty is in the eye of society. Society tells people how to live their life and how to
present themselves in a proper way. Nevertheless, millions of human beings are
getting plastic surgery to change their outermost appearance. Starting from a nose
job to botox all over the face, individuals spend so much time and money to make
themselves look unrecognizable With this being said, plastic surgery is not a bad
commodity, as it is all a personal choice to an individual. It enhances one s features
and makes a person feel better than their best self but in reality the only element that
matters is the inner beauty.
Growing up in this generation, they are influenced by every person in a magazine.
Society altogether, must look past the pictures in Vogue or Cosmopolitan and look
deeper in the beauty that is within us all. Children nowadays are growing up and
are expected to look like America s Next Top Model and they are not focusing in
school, because they are too busy looking at what their friends are wearing and
their outermost appearance. Mind is greater than looks, so if students did not focus
on what society would think of them, they would most likely score higher on tests.
Inner beauty is more important than physical beauty, because it is a representation
of a person s true self. Judging a book by its cover can often be
11. Purpose And Role Of Castles In The Middle Ages
From Historians to free lance enthusiasts one of the most interesting subjects of
study is the purpose and roles of castles in the middle ages. The strong fortified
castles of England and Wales have survived centuries of war and natural disasters
that would surely destroy much of today s modern architecture. While some may
think of castles and immediately connect them to fairy tales and princess s castles
played a far greater role in the military and social development of the middle ages.
Whether it was military or socially castles were a way for men to establish their

The solution was the build rounded walls that increased the walls strength and it

Caerphilly was built in 1215 for Gilbert De Clare while this castle does have strong
military protection it was also built to establish De Clares social class and enforce his
dominance in the region. When building a castle, the architects not only had to pay
close attention to its fortification but also its location and its strategic advantages.
Building a castle by the water allowed for an essay access to supply s and escape
routes, while building a castle up on a hill gives you a great advantage over
invading army s. While the roles of castles in the 13th century clearly point to a
military purpose that begins to change during the start of the 14th century. Castles
start to become a way for nobility to establish and maintain their social hierarchy.
(Johnson; 2002, 6) We can see a clear example of this in the architecture of castles
that were built in the middle of the 14th

out in his article how it seems that children do somewhat like nonfiction, but they
are not choosing to read as nonfiction books as fiction books. He then speculates
that the answer lies in the preferences of the teachers. An earlier study has shown
that girls have a preference works of fiction. This fact pared with the fact that the
majority of our teachers are women leads Topping to the conclusion that by

also marked the lack of nonfiction in the classroom. In fact, Coleman and Job claim
that out of what children read ninety percent is fiction. This figure may seem too
large to be true, but in the library of my school there are nineteen different sections
of the stacks that are available to be checked out. Only one section of those nineteen
consists of nonfiction literature. This is a real life example of how our schools are
placing more and more fiction into the hands of children. Works of fiction are great. I
love them and read them almost every day. There is nothing wrong with reading
fiction, but we must also read nonfiction. Reading nonfiction is important. It

Again caught up in a running conflict between factions of his church, Bach fled to

years, and there he composed his first wave of major works.
By this stage in his life, Bach had developed a reputation as a brilliant musical talent.
His profiency on the organ was unequalled in Europe and he toured regularly as a

The Cothen period produced, among other masterpieces, the Brandenburg Concerti.
While at Cothen, Bach s wife, Maria Barbara, died. Bach remarried soon after to

1934 .
The Red army started the Long March with over 87,000. With them, the solders

some Americans are useless and are unfortunately procreating, consequently
evolving this country into an unpatriotic and lazy mentality. Furthermore the
current state of disunity amongst our citizens presents the US with a selfish
individualistic image. This may only be a portion of this great country but it is
undoubtedly becoming an endemic. All capable bodies should be eager to assist
this country in a time of need. American citizens live a better life than they know
it, and most are too blind or ignorant to see it. The idea of selfless service used to
be a core value to this country, now less than 1% of Americans risk their lives for
their country . America
21. Hypocrisy In Ghosts And Tartuffe
The two plays deal with similar issues of deception and hypocrisy present in the
society and how people wear masks in order to conform to the social norms of their
respective societies. Both the authors, Henrik Ibsen and Moliere have made
effective use of deception in order to bring their ideas and views through to their
audience. Ghosts is a perfect example of a realistic play which attacks the hypocrisy
present in the society and in its value systems. Ibsen therefore was known as the
father of modern theatre. Tartuffewas written by Moliere in the age of reason. During
this period writers usually wrote in a common genre which was known as the comedy
of manners. As a form of satire, the genre of comedy was aimed at ridiculing human...

Mrs Alving goes to the extent of constructing an orphanage in his name, so as to keep
up his appearance in society and thus uses deception as a tool to do so. And in Act II
we get evidence of this deceit, I had always before me the fear that it was
impossible that the truth should come out and be believed. That is why the
Orphanage is to exist, to silence all rumours and clear away all doubt. But shortly
afterwards we hear of the burning down of the orphanage. Here Ibsen has made use
of great irony in order to strip the deception and bring out the truth. The orphanage
was built in the memory of Mr. Alving and therefore its burning down acts as a
symbol of the corrupt life which had been lead by him.
The tragedy of the burning of the orphanage was that it was not insured. The
orphanage had not been insured as Manders (the priest) thought that people would
not take it in the correct manner and will accuse Manders of not having enough
faith in god. Mr. Manders is a priest in the local church but is very conservative and
narrow minded and is also very gullible, as he gets deceived very easily by
Engstrand. Engstrand also uses the tool of deception in order to hide his true
intentions from the society. He is very corrupted and immoral to the extent of turning
Regina (his daughter) into a whore in his very own whore house. Engstrand is a
compulsive liar and he makes
22. The Threepenny Opera Essays
What keeps mankind alive? Answer the question with reference to the actions of
characters in The Threepenny Opera. In The Threepenny Opera, Bertolt Brecht,
through the writing of the song Second Threepenny Finale What Keeps Mankind
Alive in Scene Six, gives us the idea that mankind is kept alive by bestial acts (page
55, line number 18). In my opinion, although the idea to associate human beings with
beasts, or more specifically, human behaviour with bestial acts looks peculiar, some
characters, in their pursuit of desires and wants, do reflect an inhuman nature, which
makes them beast like . In the play, we can see the constant, uncontrollable longing
of food (page 55 number 9) of some characters. In my opinion,... Show more content

In my view, Mac is really, as what Polly and Lucy comment, a man who is not
worth [so] [many] commitments (page 68). Besides sexual urges, money is
another piece of juicy meat that attracts the most number of characters and leads
them to inhuman deeds. An obvious example is Jenny. Upon the bribe of Mrs.
Peachum, she decides to betray Mac in spite of the companionship between them.
Worse, she is not impressed by Mac s belief that a woman with name beginning
with a P (instead of a J as suggested by Jenny) will betray her, and goes on turning
him in to Constable Smith. Finally, when Mr. Peachum refuses to give her the
reward for turning Mac in, Jenny gets furious, blames the Peachums for black[ing]
[Mac s] boots (page 58) and tells them how bad she feels for having [sold] the last
sportsman left in London (page 58). In my view, Jenny is such a hypocrite and
money fanatic that the example about her is itself, the best manifestation of what is
suggested in the song as however much you twist, whatever lies you tell.... Morals
follow on (page 55, lines 8 ~ 9). As money represents one s living, it does not
surprise readers greatly by telling them that government officers such as Tiger Brown
and Constable Smith have committed bribery. In fact, what is really surprising to us
is Brown s yielding to the
23. Prion Disease
Despite some speculation of scientific findings in regards to prion conversion,
research continues. The prion disease, unlike other infectious diseases such as
viruses or bacteria, cannot be diagnosed using PCR, cell culture assays, or serology
attributable to lack of nucleic acids, which are not recognized by normal host immune
responses. Also, owing to uneven distribution throughout the body, finding a tool that
can be used on the central nervous system may be easier said than done (25). The
diagnostic testing techniques vary according to the type of priondisease; progress in
the detection of CJD has been realized through detection of cerebrospinal fluid and
proteins, EEG, and other neuroimaging strategies. Positive results using

In PrP found throughout the body, digestion and recycling does occur regularly with
the aid of the alpha helices. The protein s formation is problematic because it allows
for PrPSc resistance to proteases and amyloidogenicity including proteinase K (PK)
digestion. Yet, using immunoblotting the detection of proteinase K (PK) resistant
PrPSc in infected brains are seen as distinct bands spanning 27 30 kDa (PrP 27 30).
Interestingly enough, the portion that remains insoluble and undigested is part of the
C terminal portion of PrPSc or PrPres, which is cleaved around amino acid 90.
Therefore, trying to find ways around this insoluble portion or trying to determine
other techniques that may help break the molecule down, or preventing conversion is

24. Market Planning
What is Marketing Planning?
Formal, Informal and Behavioral Approaches to Marketing Planning.
There is no commonly accepted definition or approach to marketing planning. This is
because of a number of problems that pepper the marketing planning literature
relating to the size of an organization, the market or sector in which it exists, its
culture, and the human beings that work within it. There is a huge body of research
that has considered marketing planning and its models, structures and processes,
theory and typologies. The only one thing that is certain is that, after considering the
findings of a number of studies and as the output of many informed views, there is no
common agreement on a single definition or approach to ... Show more content on

The subject of marketing planning has generated a large number of papers, books
and studies that have approached the subject in a number of ways. The earliest
references to marketing planning were made in the 1960 s. Marketing planning for
industrial products has been investigated (Ames 1960). Consumer manufacturing
companies were scrutinized by Stasch and Lanktree in the 1980 s. Hopkins (1981)
looked into 265 US companies of varying sizes. US grocery manufacturers from the
top one hundred spenders on advertising were examined in 1982 by Cosse and
Swan. From a geographical point of view, the early research was done in the United
States of America followed by research from British academics.
McDonald s 1982 PhD thesis looked at the views of mainly directors and chief
executives from UK companies, whilst Greenley (1982, 1983) investigated both
manufacturing companies and service companies, all with varying turnovers and
with differences in size. Therefore strategic versus tactical marketing planning may
be an oversimplification. As can be seen from the short series of selected examples
above, companies that adopt marketing planning come from a variety of market
sectors, different countries and cultures, from companies with a range of turnovers.
Informal Marketing Plans
Formal and informal approaches to marketing planning were investigated by Lyles

This has happened only three other times in the history of the Catholic Church.
They were; St. Celestine V, Benedict IX, and, Pope Gregory VII. The first Pope to
resign in the history of the Church was St. Celestine V, who was elected to office in
Dec. 1294. He didn t want the job and did very little while he was a Pope, his term
lasted only 5 months. After he stepped down the next pope made the decision to
put him in jail until his death. Pope Benedict IX was 18 years old and it is said that
he was very corrupt, ignoring the Catholic followings and sanctions. He held gay
orgies, was accused of rape and murder, and was called a demon from hell. He was
such an embarrassment that the Cardinals paid him to leave. Pope Gregory VII, in...

It is said that he is resigning his post as the Pope because of his physical and
mental powers are not as they once were. He is unable to walk unassisted as of
now. Pope Benedict XVI will have a new residence in the Southwest corner of
Vatican City where he will spend his time praying, reading one of the 2000 books
he had installed, playing the piano, and spending time with his cat. When a Pope
steps down, all the cardinals below the age of 80, come to Rome to pray, consider,
and vote who will the next Pope be. (Uebbing 2013) This is called a papal
conclave. There is no specific time that a conclave will last. It is determined by
when the cardinals feel that their prayers have been answered as to whom the next
Pope will be. The information about Pope Benedict stepping down from his papal
duties was a surprise to many because this has not occurred very often in the
history of Catholicism. In Christianity, a minister can come and go like a job that
is held by a person of no faith. It is simply a contract between the church and the
Minister himself no different that if I go to work for a company and the contract I
would sign with them. I am curious if my informant knew how few Popes have
stepped down and how she feels about it, and if this makes any difference to how she

realizes that her teacher is trying the best that she can. Scout eventually realizes
that she should think about the feelings of others and what they must have been

Jem must go to the Radley house to retrieve his pants. Before arguing with Jem,
she thinks about what Jem s intentions must ve been. In the end, she decides to let
him be. Jem cuts up all of Mrs. Dubose s flowers because he gets angry from the
insults that she was saying about Atticus. Because of this, he has to read to her for
an entire month. Dill says he s not coming back to Maycomb that summer because
he has a new father and that they were going to build a fishing boat together. Dill
seems to really care about having a father figure in his life and this tells me that Dill
is still very innocent. Aunt Alexandra comes to stay with the Finch family because
she thinks that it would be a good idea for Scout to have some feminine influence.
Scout chooses to avoid Aunt
28. How Is Mr Birling Presented In An Inspector Calls
An Inspector Calls written by J.B Priestley is about the unexpected suicide of a lower
class working girl called Eva Smith. Every character in the play played a big part in
her demise. Mr Birling fired her from his own business, Sheila got her fired from
Milwards, Gerald had an affair with her, Eric raped her making her pregnant and
Mrs Birling rejected her from her charity when she was desperate. At the end of the
playEva is shown to be desperate because she is in the Palace Bar, J.B Priestley
reflects society in each and every character. In this play its shown that the lower
class have to obey and be in awe of the upper class.

During Gerald sinterrogation he responds the girl saw me looking and then gave
me a glace that was nothing less that a cry for help . This advocates that he
recognizes what he has done and he shows respect for Sheila and the audience
when he is truthful about his affair with Eva Smith his Daisy Renton. Gerald is
from a very affluent family and in the play rich families are not shown to help
people from a lower class. This is highlighted when Eva goes to Mrs Birling charity
and is rejected. Gerald is shown at the start of act one as a respectful character but
he juxtaposes himself towards the end of his interrogation when he tells us the
truth and that he deceived Sheila. The sentence cry for help is the use of emotive
language which suggests that Gerald did feel sorry for her in some way. We know
this is the opposite of what he says because he kicks her out of her living space
after six month and leaves her on the streets again. The use of the verb cry suggests
Gerald was trying to show that he did something prodigious, this is the use of
litotes. This quote represents Gerald as being naive because he just assumed that
she was dismal and lonesome. In the stage directions the author used the verb
hesitatingly . This advocates that he was re thinking what he was trying to say so
he didn t look guilty. The phrase nothing less implies that the playwright tries to
emphasise the rest of the sentence to show how desperate Eva Smith was. We also
know this because in the play it tells us that she was in the Palace Bar . This
evidence strongly shows that Gerald was being a very narcissistic character by
giving Eva hopes for the future and then crushing
29. The Problems that Come with the Gigantic Leaps in
Computer...
In computers, there has been a big contrast from the twentieth century to the twenty
first century. The word computer was first used in 1613, describing a person who
performs calculations in their head. In 1943 the Turing Machine was created by Alan
Turing for theories about computing and computers. This device printed symbols on
paper. Then, in the early twenty first century, companies created computers that can
surf the internet, let people create word documents, and play games. As time goes on,
computertechnology advances through the centuries to awe inspiring devices, but can
lead to safety and privacy issues not dreamed of. In the twentieth century, modern
technology began. As early as 1971, Intel created the personal computerwhich was
used in businesses. The company Apple offered to consumers and donated to
schools, their version of the personal computer, but it was slowly accepted. In the
1980 s net book computers were introduced, allowing consumers and businesses to
take their play and work wherever they went. Early computers had numerous safety
hazards. Many consumers were not aware of how necessary it was to clean and
manage their personal computer. Dust and hair would get sucked into the computer s
front fan and would stick to the hardware components. This would cause the
components to overheat and start a fire or just fry the computer s motherboard.
Another issue is viruses. Whether someone only used their computer either for
research, or for

Throughout history, there have been millions of philosophers. However, none of
them have uncovered the truth about human nature. The issue of morality has never
been truly resolved. There is an endless amount of arguments about humans being
internally good, but there are just as many for the alternate idea that humansare evil.
The short stories that best exemplify humannature are Child By Tiger , Am I Blue? ,
and Once Upon a Time . In all these short stories, there is a climax involving the
protagonist and then the author tells us how the supporting characters react. We see
how the town reacts to Dick, how the world reacts to Melvin s second wish, and we
see how the gardener reacts to the boy getting caught in the security system. Wolfe,
Gordimer, and Coville show us that human nature isn t the way we act, but it is the
way we react; thus we aren t inherently good nor evil, but a blend of the two.
Wolfe shows us the evil side of human nature that comes from within. In civilized
societies, people are not allowed to harm others. Therefore, the mob was using
Dick s actions as an excuse to let out their inner evil. These people had a burning
hate for African Americans, so they knew that they could do whatever they wanted
to do to Dick without repercussions. The town s inner savagery first comes out: We
ve waited long enough! We re going to get that ni**er! (Wolfe 101). The N word is
used by the townspeople to show their hatred and bitterness told the entire

The topic of mental health has a profound stigma in our society and it notably affects
students with disabilities. The nurses office should be a safe place for students with
behavioral issues where they can express their somatic symptoms free from the

Summary: The people of Bangladesh were dying and getting ill from water. This
water was provided through tube wells that were connected to an underground
aquifer. Such actions were taken on the 1980 s, when many children died from
diarrhea. This project facilitated the lives of many since their people did not have
to walk long distances and carry heavy jars full of water. Unfortunately, the water
was not checked for arsenic. A dermatologist believed the water from the tube wells
contained arsenic but the British Geological Survey insisted it was safe. Today the
tubewells are known to have 50 micrograms of arsenic per liter. The article also
explains some of the symptoms that could be experienced after 10 years of
consuming arsenic contaminated water, these include: black spots, conjunctivitis,
bronchitis, diarrhea, etc. The Bangladesh government borrowed money but has not
yet taken action since they do not know how to solve this issue. The Bangladesh
Rural Advancement Committee trained 160 volunteers to test the tubewells and
identify the symptoms of arsenicosis. Many of their volunteers also made maps to
inform people of safe tubewells and ponds. 1. What was the purpose or point in

continue by his own. If Dr. Prost wins he will recover some 30% of the
government awards up to 30%. His court will be reducing some relator awards that
are involved from the improper activities from the event. I will give some example if
an employee will depend on the contractor to discovered his boss it was defrauding
the government. The employee can be a file from the False Claims Act that can suit
from the qui tam against his employee. By filling the suit the Department of Justice
will make some consultation with the Local District Attorney. It can choose the

governments awards. Throughout this topic, some False Claim act can be relator that
should be entitled to the whistleblower

Comparing Shakespeare s Othello with Conrad s Heart of Darkness
It is often that when we read great works of literature we come across similar
themes. Authors use powerful ideas that they believe will move their readers and
relate to them so they become engaged in the words written. William Shakespeare
and Joseph Conrad were amazing writers of their times and even though their works
were written almost 300 years apart, both, Othello and Heart of Darkness, have
coinciding themes.
The major theme that both Shakespeare and Conrad tackled was racism and the
concept of whites versus blacks. The play Othello tells the story of a black general
by the name of Othello and the betrayal, lies, and deception that comes about when
marrying a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses derogatory and offensive remarks that devalue people of color and make
them out to be savages. Chinua Achebe, a well known writer, talked about Joseph
Conrad s Heart of Darkness, entitled An Image of Africa: Racism in Conrad s Heart
of Darkness. Throughout his essay, Achebe notes how Conrad set Africa up as a
foil to Europe, (Achebe) while he also projects the image of Africa as the other
world . Africa is said to be a prehistoric world. Conrad described this land as non
advanced and inferior to the western countries.
Another theme that was portrayed by both Othello and Heart of Darkness was that
of good versus evil. What was ironic about this theme was that it was somewhat
opposite and strange for the time period they were both written in. In both works it
seemed as if blacks were seen as the good and innocent while the whites were seen
on the evil side. African heritage is usually portrayed in a negative light and it was
not the case in these pieces. Othello was looked as somewhat of a black hero and
Iago was considered the white nemesis. Iago s deceitful ways brings light to Othello
s true character, a great general and man. Conrad shows the Africans as innocent
victims to the white man s chaos. The white men, even though they are shown more
powerful, are the ones seen in the dark.
Racism and good versus evil come down to the idea of the white man versus the
black man. These ideas have been in and out of
40. Reflection Paper On City Council Meeting
On September 18, 2017, I had the pleasure of attending my first city council meeting
in the city of Durham, North Carolina. Located in downtown Durham, the meeting
took place at City Hall inside the council chambers on the first floor. The meeting
began at 7:00 pm and lasted for approximately 2 hours. Although it was open to the
public, not too many people attended the meeting. Including myself, no more than 10
people were accounted for at the meeting. As far as the board members and official
council staff, there were about 20 people. The overall setting resembled a
courtroom. The council officials (staff) sat in the front of the room behind this wide
panel table. The other half of the staff behind a panel table as well, located on the
right side of the room. The seats that were available to the public were directly in the
middle of the room facing the city councilofficials and the big TVs on the wall
where the meeting was being recorded. Before the meeting took place, they give you
an agenda that outlines the whole order and process of the meeting and what topics
will be discussed.
In city council meetings, they focus on how policy change affects people within their
community. These meetings are open to the public because as citizens we have the
voice and the power that elects these government officials in our city. We vote for our
presidents, mayors, and other important government officials who are put in charge
of our community. City council meetings give citizens a

43. Harriet Tubman
Harriet Ross Tubman was an African American who escaped slavery and then
showed runaway slaves the way to freedom in the North for longer than a decade
before the American Civil War. During the war she was as a scout, spy, and nurse for
the United States Army. After that she kept working for rights for blacks and women.
br
br Harriet Tubman was originally named Araminta Ross. She was one of 11
children born to Harriet Greene and Benjamin Ross on a plantation in Dorchester
County, Maryland. She later took her mother s first name. Harriet was working at
the age of five. She was a maid and a children s nurse before she worked in the field
when she was 12. A year later, a white guy either her watcher or her master smacked

br Harriet Tubman never lost any of her control and had a weird ability to find food
and shelter during these hard missions. Among other African Americans she came to
be known as Moses (Biblical hero who led the Hebrews out of enslavement in Egypt.)
br
br Harriet Tubman was an inspiration to both white and black abolitionists. She
worked closely with a black antislavery activist named William Still in Philadelphia
with Underground Railroad conductor Thomas Garrett, a Quaker who lived in
Wilmington, Delaware. An abolitionist named John Brown gave her the title General
Tubman. She discussed with John Brown his plan to start a revolution against slavery
in the South. She got sick. That prevented her from joining him at Harpers Ferry,
Virginia (now West Virginia), in his unlucky 1859 attack.

Massachusetts Regiment, made up of black soldiers only. She later got an official

44. Student Achievement Essay
Each year, children are failing in school. As the years progress, the number of
children failing keep rising. In Closing the Achievement Gap , Kati Haycock, the
Director of the Education Trust at the American Association for Higher Education,
states Between 1970 and 1988, the achievement gap between African American and
white students was cut in half, and the gap separating Latinos and whites declined
by one third. That progress came to a halt around 1988, however, and since that
time, the gaps have widened (6). As a result, people are doing studies and have
come up with several theories that exist on how to address the achievement gap.
These ideas have been categorized below to establish the issue to show causes... Show

In Race and the Achievement Gap , he uses a study from the Roy Wilkins Center
for Human Relations to show that African Americans were 4.5 times less likely to
be found in schools ranked low in math and reading (Berlak 2). He claims due to
those statistics that students of color are not opted to have the gifted and talented
school programs, which affects both the test score gap and the gap in academic
performance (Berlak 2). Amy L. Wax, Professor of Law for The University of
Virginia School of Law, on the other hand, shows a different cause in failure. She
does not share the same views with Steele or Berlak. In her article, The Threat in
the Air , she states, We resist confronting the social and behavioral causes of short
falls in academic performance. Stark differences between groups in marriage rates,
family stability, paternal involvement, parenting practices and discipline, and other
habits and values, are associated with children s disparate academic success. (Wax

the causes, there are consequences that always follow. Consequences for Students

part is the notes from my meeting with the Associate Superintendent of Student
Services of San Mateo County Office of Education. Our discussion included
Common core standards, various tools, and resources. She also mentioned that it was
challenging to integrate technology fully in our Court schools. I added in my notes
that we discussed Common Core standards, a variety of technology tools, devices
and resources and about the challenges faced being an alternative school facility. My

Once I had the lessons selected, I could quickly identify an area for Substitution. I
enjoyed the Redefinition part of the artifact. I found myself thinking about more and
more ways to integrate technology. I found this exercise interesting and it made me
realize that there are plenty of ways to enhance student learning through technology
integration. Being on the IT side, this session covered material that was new to me.
I learned a lot about Common Core, various tools, and SAMR model. When I had
my appointment with the Associate Superintendent, I realized the value of having
those big picture conversations. She was pleased to help, so I scheduled a few
additional future meetings with her. These are going to help me learn more about
our student programs and their use of technology. Another takeaway for me is that I
should not consider IT to be separate from EdTech. A CTO has the responsibility to
keep him or her up to date on what is happening in the EdTech world. It is our
responsibility to ensure that our teachers have access to the technology resources they
need, to take student learning to the highest level

Malaysia s approach on resolving the SCS disputes works through diplomacy, which
consists of peaceful resolutions, friendly relationship, stronger defense capabilities,
and stronger economic ties. Against this backdrop, this paper will briefly show that
Malaysia is committed to resolving the SCS disputes using diplomacy at all means in
order to keep a harmonious environment amongst claimants and its users.
In adherence to the norms and customs, Malaysia will always cling to peaceful
resolutions. Malaysia s National Defense Policy (2010) stressed out that any
conflicts which might occur in SCS could result in an interventions by major
external powers, and this will complicate the situations. Malaysia acknowledges the
importance of ASEAN led process in addressing conflicts in the SCS. ASEAN
member states and China signed the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the
SCS (DOC) in 2002. The deceleration regularized that the signatory states will
oblige to enhance and develop a mechanism to promote friendship and harmony
situation in the SCS (Permal, 2016). It s also supposed to include a conclusion of a

48. South American Influence On Brazil
Brazil, as a country, is teetering on the brink of prosperity while still firmly anchored
in its turbulent past. Economically, Brazil poses to become a powerful force in the
global marketplace. However, the cultural impacts of their society are evident in their
accounting system and business practices. When compared with the United States,
Brazil ranks much higher in power distance, uncertainty avoidance, and long term
orientation. This leads business people in Brazil to maintain a higher level of
secrecy, though not as high as countries like Japan. Additionally, Conservatism
remains strong in Brazil, as well as uniformity; it is no surprise that the Brazilian
accounting system closely resembles the rules prescribed by IFRS.

Known as a land of contrasts, the impact of other cultures is deeply felt from the early
Italian influences on their accounting system to the impact of the Roman Catholic
Church on the fabric of society and business. Although the country has cultural
influences that are clearly South American, Brazil s strong Portuguese roots and
traditions influence the country in different ways than their South American
counterparts.
On the strength of growth in public markets and efforts to make Brazil attractive to
foreign investment, the country has become the second largest market for foreign
direct investment just behind China. Brazil poises to become the 7th largest economy
as soon as next year. Attention has been paid to many aspects of Brazil s culture and
has changed to fit into its new economic success.
Brazil, however, may not reach its full potential if they do not continue to reform its
social and public programs. Consequently, Brazil must continue to increase its
investment in education and health, to improve women s and human rights, and to
close the wealth distribution gap within their country. As Brazil continues to grow
economically its culture is experiencing positive changes. The two are interwoven in
the goal to grow their markets and increase their presence in the global

The country has traditionally been keen to encourage R D in both the public and
