1. Narrative Essay Examples High School
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Narrative Essay Examples High School" can present its own
set of challenges. Firstly, delving into the realm of narrative writing requires a unique blend of
creativity and structure. High school experiences are personal and varied, making it crucial to
strike a balance between relatability and originality.
Moreover, finding the right narrative essay examples from high school can be a daunting task.
Sifting through memories, deciding which events to highlight, and weaving them into a cohesive
and engaging narrative demand thoughtful reflection. This introspective process might unearth
emotions or moments that one might not have revisited in a while, potentially adding an
emotional layer to the writing.
Another challenge lies in capturing the essence of high school life while ensuring the essay
resonates with a broader audience. The narrative should not be too insular, making it accessible
and relatable to readers who may not share the same experiences.
Additionally, maintaining a chronological flow and coherence throughout the essay is essential.
Balancing vivid descriptions with the overall theme and purpose of the narrative poses a
constant challenge. A well-structured essay demands careful consideration of pacing, transitions,
and the overall narrative arc.
In conclusion, tackling the task of crafting a narrative essay on high school experiences is akin to
navigating a complex maze of memories and emotions. It requires a delicate blend of
introspection, creativity, and structural finesse. However, by overcoming these challenges, one
can create a compelling narrative that not only reflects personal experiences but also resonates
with a broader audience.

AMISH COMMUNITY2
Abstract
The Amish people are a community of individuals who hold their traditions of
simple living, self labor, and isolation very highly. Eastern parts of the United States
as well as Canada are the most common areas where Amish communities are
established. The group originated from Switzerland and received their name from
their leader Jakob Ammann who, during the 18th century, led their immigration to
Pennsylvania. Despite their customary values of seclusion, the Amish still experience
the equal degrees of obstacles as any other organization may face. The Amish do not

society intruding it affects the ways of the Amish community s agriculture. Farming
is a significant part of the community and if non Amish people continue to expand

Industrialization is one of most difficult problems that the Amish community faces.
AMISH COMMUNITY5 The Amish people try to avoid bringing attention to
themselves, and are extremely cautious with the dangers of arrogance and self worth.
Tourism among the communities has increased and threatens the humble values that
the people hold close to their culture. Non Amish people are just so fascinated in the
plain apparel they wear and the manner in which they interact with each other.
Furthermore, the Amish people are just viewed as an attraction for people and the
privacy of the community is not respected. Tourists flood the Amish communities in
the hopes to catch a brief glimpse of the families working or children playing. In
addition to the invasion of personal privacy, the increase in tourism opens their
children to the materialistic mainstream of outside society. If the children get a
glimpse of how the outside world interacts they may not want to stay and become

3. Millennial Vs Millennial Soldiers
Today s Army is as much a cultural melting pot as it has ever been. There is,
however, a noticeable generational difference in its current population. Millennial
and Generation X Soldiers conduct themselves in very different ways. One
example is the Millennial Soldiers need to question what can seem like a simple
task. Is this a generationally specific trait to Millennials or is it only more evident
in these Soldiers? The Millennial Soldiers request for reasoning is easily
perceived as whining. However, with an understanding of the psychology behind
the question, you will realize it is a trait that when utilized properly will allow
leaders to develop intelligent and informed Soldiers. Per Webster s dictionary,
anyone born in the 1980s or 1990s is defined as a Millennial. Therefore, by
definition, I am a Millennial and fall into the category of Soldier that I will be
discussing. However, I don t view myself as the same type of Millennial that makes
up the junior enlisted ranks of today s Army. In the Army I grew up in; as long it
wasn t illegal, immoral or inherently dangerous, we did what we were told to do.
Learning the psychology behind this change has allowed me to adjust the way I lead
to effectively communicate with my Soldiers.
In a Military Times article (Lilley, 2016), CSM Michael Gragg, then the CSM of
the Center for Initial Military Training, said The problem that we do have is that

Finding Magic Within the Wild
To McCandless and many others that share the same love for nature, it plays a
very important role in several choices made by him throughout the film. In
retrospect, the same can be applied to SpongeBob SquarePants on an easier to
understand level. Now, SpongeBob doesn t leave his wealth and his family to live
on his own, but he does have magic in the wild, just like the magic bus Chris
McCandless used as shelter throughout the weeks. This was called the magic conch

type of magic as compared to the magic conch. The magic bus could be said to
have symbolized good fortune and search for solitude. The good fortune is
described as That he stumbles upon the old Fairbanks City bus in the middle of
Alaskan bush is an amazing stroke of luck that not only helps Chris to survive in
the wild for 113 days, but also gives him a place to contemplate his life and beliefs,
as the philosophical inscriptions he writes on the bus s walls reiterate (Litcharts, 1).
Christopher was given this place to help gather his thoughts and fully look through
his idea of parting off into the wild. This bus was magic also in the sense that
without this bus, his death may have occurred a lot earlier and he wouldn t have
survived the 113 days that he did. There are plenty of animals that the bus could
have possibly protected him from. With the bus symbolizing the luck and good
fortune, it is seemingly lucky that across he ventures in Alaska on his own, he
comes across an abandoned bus. This is luck because how many abandoned buses
are you going to come across if you are exploring the wild like Christopher had?
Well, to most people, the answer is very little if any at all. The magic that the bus

In the last few years, Tesla Motors, Inc. is growing rapidly. Tesla has more than three
thousand employees in December, 2012. [3] And the number has been increased to
six thousand in January, 2014. However, the relatively high price of Tesla electric
cars cannot be ignored. Average customers cannot afford such a car that is priced
more that $70,000. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors, Inc., gave the opinion that
Tesla is trying to eventually offer electric vehicles that are affordable to most
consumers. [4][5] A mature model under $40,000 is expected by 2017. [6][7]
Under such cases, some research on the famous Tesla Motors, Inc. and its electric

assume such electric cars can pollute less, a few people have another theory that
such kind of vehicles isn?t as environmentally friendly as what people expected. In a

7. The Process of Decision Making Essay
Organizational behavior helps managers to improve the organization in a good
way. Decision making process is the one of the behavior in human organizational
behavior. According to McShane and Von Glinow (2000), decision making a
conscious process of making choices among one or more alternatives with the
intention of moving toward some desired state of affairs . Decision making is a
linear process and it includes six steps such as identifying the problems, gather and
evaluate data, list and evaluate alternatives, select best action, implement the
decision and getter feedback (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1). First step in decision
making process is identifying the problems. As McShane and Von Glinow (2000)

As stated by Prasad (2008), the managers should identify the different choices
available in order to get most acceptable outcome of a decision. From searching
different alternatives the managers can evade blocks in operations as choices are
suitable if a particular idea goes wrong. Khanka (2000) expresses the view that
selections can developed from in many ways such as can get from sources like
experience, do training other organizations, and take others ideas and suggestions
related in problems. Furthermore to improve alternatives solution the managers
may investigation the signs of a problem for clues or fall back on intuition or result
that stated by Griffin and Moorhead (2010). For an example in marketing
department a non programmed decision is compulsory the manager have to
produce alternatives for raise market share. As McShane and Von Glinow (2000)
pointed out that in a programmed decision is a standard operations is not to
generate choice but can take out from the documented that already saved. Next an
organizer should search the mission of a decision. In other words they need to
define what is to be accomplished by it (Quick Nelson, 2013). The decision criteria
are important as mentioned by Dubrin (2002). The several criteria are consumers
must aware of varies in quality of products, there not happen inflation, workers must

8. Woodrow Wilson s 14 point plan Essay example
A devastating war had left much of Europe in ruin and smoke, but a task almost as
difficult as the war was still ahead for the allies, devising a treaty. President
Woodrow Wilson had come up with a fourteen point plan, which he proposed to the
allied leaders of France, Italy, and Britain. Although this plan was eventually voted
down by the senate, and never passed, several key points were put into the treaty that
was accepted by the senate.
The first point on Wilson s 14 point plan was that nations should not have any secret
treaties or alliances with other nations. This is an important point in the plan, because
if it were followed through with it could possibly prevent many wars afterwards.
That is, of course, if the nations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fourth point on Wilsons plan was the reducing of armies of all nations to a bare
minimum. This did not go over well at all. No nation wanted to be told by the United
States that it had to reduce its army. This point was tied to Americas participation in
the war because America could significantly reduce its army and still be safe. It had
2 oceans to protect it, unlike every other nation, especially those in Europe. This was
another point to basically put America on top, and secure its rank as the number one
nation in the world
Wilsons fifth point was open mindedness in the discussion of colonial claims. This
is basically saying that all nations should be willing to give up some of their
colonial claims. I think this is one of the most ridiculous points on Wilsons plan.
Wars start because of colonial claims. World War II was started because of land
claims. However, I do not think that this point was related to the United States
participation in the war, because the United States had no interest in acquire any new
land at the time, and did not have much of a large colonial holding. I think this point
applies mainly to Britain, which had many colonies.
Point s 6 through 13 all had to deal with new nations being created and borders of
existing nations being modified. I don t think that these points had anything to do
with the United States participation in the war, because these borders needed to be
modified and many nations
9. Amazon Rainforest Fragmentation
III. Environmental Issues
Deforestation. Deforestation is one of the most critical problems in Brazil.
Destroying natural habitat is a direct threat to biodiversity (Wilson et al., 2015).
Historically, deforestation rates have been high in Brazil fluctuating between 25,000
to 50,000 kilometers squared per year. If deforestation were to continue at the
historical rates, then most of the Amazon would disappear within 50 to 100 years
(Shukla, 1990). While contemporary deforestation rates are not so severe, they are
still high and have recently begun to increase. In 2009, Brazilian deforestation was
estimated at 7,008 kilometers squared (May et al., 2011). After a slight decrease in
the deforestation rate, with a valley in 2012 at 4,571 kilometers ... Show more content

A habitat fragment that is too small cannot sustain species with larger ranges and
populations can go locally extinct. Species richness of many organisms has been
shown to decline with fragment area. Bryophytes, tree seedlings, palms, understory
insectivorous birds, primates, and larger herbivorous mammals are all species that
decrease in population size in smaller fragments (Laurance et al., 2011).
Habitat fragmentation also causes the alteration of local ecosystem processes leading
to biodiversity loss (Wilson et al., 2015). About 70% of remaining forests in the
world are within 1 km of the forest s edge (Haddad et al., 2015). Having more edge
means the fragment is more susceptible to impacts from wind, heat, and light. These
changes are known as edge effects. Edge effects change the community composition
of trees, lianas, and tree seedlings. Bees, wasps, flies, beetles, ants, and understory
birds also decrease in abundance near fragment edges (Laurance et al.,
10. `` The Hive `` By Marshall Poe And Small Change By
Malcolm...
The way that people now communicate with each other has changed drastically in
the last 20 years. Technological devices like cell phones or computers that used to
be just accessories now became a must in our daily lives. A person cannot leave the
house without a phone since now the person might feel disconnected and
sometimes even lost. We now have the ability to communicate with people
thousands of miles away by just a few clicks. The quarrel is that this power made it
easier to connect us with people we love even if we never get to see them in real
life. In The Hive by Marshall Poe and Small Change by Malcolm Gladwell, both
authors talk about the advancement of communicationthrough social media. Poe
believes that social media revolutionize us as a community, yet Gladwell criticizes
it for being fake and not creating strong ties. Communication through social media
does not create strong ties between the people we are connected with, it creates a
deceitful sense of strength and interaction between people. It also alters an
individual s perception and makes it easy for people to show an image of
themselves that isn t who they really are. That is why people now a days even
though they may seem like they are more connected through social media outlets,
they really don t realize how week of a connection social media brings.
Sharing information before the advancement of the technology for communication
was a lot more difficult at one time. In the 18th century, a French
11. Creating False Memory, By Elizabeth Loftus
False memory refers to a phenomenon that makes an individual believe that they
remember events in their lives but in real sense, these events have never occurred. In
most cases, these events are traumatic, and relate to sexual abuse. False memory
syndrome was postulated in 1992 in an attempt to explain the theory of adult
childhood memory. Adults who remember sexual abuse events when they were young
may be creating an occurrence that never happened or information that is not correct.
Synopsis
Nadean Cool attended therapeutic sessions with the hope of modifying her reaction
to the shocking events of her daughter. The therapist misguided her. The therapist

Loftus argues that people can be shaped to remember their past in different ways.
She used a study about getting lost in a Mall to show that individuals can be
prompted to recollect the whole events that occurred to them (Loftus 74).
Imagination can also create a false memory of an occurrence that never happened.
Loftus and her colleagues requested the participant to record on a scale the possibility
of the forty events named occurred in their childhood. After two weeks, they were
allowed to imagine some of the occurrences they had said never happened in their
childhood. They were asked to rate the events again. Individuals, who participated in
the imagining test, became convinced that the incident happened (Loftus 75).
In summary, the discussion about the false memory syndrome is far from being
complete. False memory syndrome makes it difficult to judge the viability of an
event and is very hard to banish from ones memory. A small false creation embeds
in the mind for a very long time. Once an individual creates a false memory, it
becomes part and parcel of his or her life. Therapeutic sessions should be taken with
care so as to reduce false memory implanted to reduce
12. Syntax And Syntax Of Language
The syntactic theory or syntax of language dates back in history in the 1950s by
Chomsky (Math una, 2009). The word syntax is derived from the Greek word
syntaxis , meaning together and sequence . The term is used for the way in which
words are put together in an orderly system to form phrases or sentences (Allahabad,
2010). Therefore, for the non expert, word order is the most remarkable thing about
syntax(Bickerton, 2009). In fact, you could debate that word order is a secondary
symptom, necessitated by the fact that we have only a single channel of speech,
forcing words to be produced in a total order, and that word order falls out merely
from reading the terminal nodes of a hierarchical tree structure. The most vital thing

14. Centripetal Acceleration Lab Report
Introduction: As objects move in a circular motion or change direction, they are
accelerating, this form of acceleration is known as centripetal acceleration (ac). The
direction of the acceleration is always towards the centre of the circle. Centripetal
acceleration can be represented by the formula ac=V2r=42rT2=42rf2. In these
formulas, v is the velocity, r is the radius of the circle, T is the period, and f is the
frequency. Furthermore, velocity can be represented by the following equations
v=2rT=2rf. In order to calculate frequency, the free body diagram must be taken into
consideration in order to calculate the forceof tension. In this lab, the force of tension
and gravity are assumed to be the only forces. Furthermore, the... Show more content

As a result of this, the stopper will complete the necessary rotations in fewer seconds.
Finally, in turn, this allows the frequency to increase as the radius decreases, proving
they are inversely proportional.
Finally, the frequency and the mass of the spinning object (rubber stopper) are
inversely proportional to one another specifically that as the mass increases, the
frequency decreases. As the spinning mass s weight increases, it would take more
force to rotate it causing it to slow down. These larger time intervals would
drastically decrease the frequency as the growing mass would result in a lower
frequency.
Experimental Design: A hanging mass was connected to a string that passed through
a hollow tube that had a rubber stopper connected to the string on the other side of
the tube. A person held the glass tube and spun the string above their head so the
rubber stopper would spin and raise the hanging mass at a constant radius from the
hollow tube.
Independent Variables: Tension from the hanging mass, the radius, and the mass of
the rubber stopper.
Dependent Variables: Frequency of the rotations
Controlled Variables: Gravity, and the apparatus

Kuhn has been even more distressed by those who admiringly misinterpret him. I
ve often said that I am much fonder of my critiques than my fans, he comments. In

technology, and indeed to any cognitive authority that might distort pure
experience. Kuhn recalls students telling him, Oh, thank you, Mr. Kuhn, for
telling us about paradigms. Now that we know about them, we can get rid of them.
a)How would Kuhn address the criticism that he is claiming science to be nothing
more than power politics or mob psychology? b)He described it this way because
sometimes scientists or people of science follow the convention of multiple people
with valid theories. They follow what was tested or theorized and expand their
research from that. It is similar to politics in that there is one individual that
attempts to persuade the many to follow them and that their ideas are the truth
through experimentation. He would address the criticism by reminding those that
he still believes in science and that the idea of a paradigm is not completely a bad
thing, for if you can identify it you can strive to get rid of it and progress in your
thinking. b) Did the 60s radicals rid the world of paradigms? Why or why not? No,

economic situation in which he was living (CNN, 2011). Other Tunisians soon took
the opportunity to resist their government and possible overthrow the leadership of
Ben Ali. They took it as their responsibility to fight for the common good. Simple
demonstration against the Tunisian government soon went ahead to an extent that
Ben Ali had to leave the country. The events that followed the departures of the
Tunisian president were the least expected. The revolts in Tunisia spurred citizens of
other Arab nations to revolt against their governments. By the end of the years 2011,
the Arab spring had claimed the presidency of three long serving presidents and...

Before them was a whole generation of limited opportunities and deprived rights.
Their calls for reforms were, however, hampered by the police and security agencies.
Most individuals who were involved in the protests were led by the belief that it
was through the protests that they could better their lives. The majority of the
Egyptian citizens have felt down, trodden and despised over the recent years by
their governments. Most governments were revolts were witnessed had stayed in
power for a long period of time. In Egypt, for example, Mubarak had stayed in
power for more than 40 years. Removing him from powered through democratic
means had borne no fruits since most presidential elections had been marred by
instances or rigging and corruption. He had therefore instituted himself as a president
for life. One aspect of Mubarak s governments was that it was dictatorial. Besides, the
people surrounding Mubarak were so powerful that talking negatively about the
president could easily lead an individual into trouble.
The government of Mubarak initiated several techniques aimed at restoring normalcy

19. Time Frame In The Ancient World
Today it is very simple to determine your location, you just simply turn your
location on, on your phone. What did they do thousands of years ago before
smartphones were around? This essay will explore how to determine your location
along with the time frame in the Ancient World. To identify your location, you must
look around and account for everything you see including the climate. You walk
miles through a very hot and sandy environment when suddenly you walk upon,
three very massive pyramids with a couple smaller ones surrounding them. You take
a closer look and notice they are pristine condition. Where are you and what time
frame is it? You are at the Pyramids of Mycerinus, Chefren, and Cheops in Giza,
Egypt and the time frame is 2525 2460
20. Mba Personal Statement
I found my passion for arts administration as a sophomore in college. Growing up,
music had always played a big part in my life. I had always thought that I would
become a music teacher. However, when I accepted an internship position in the
summer of 2015 working for the renowned Handel and Haydn Society in Boston,
my plans changed. Suddenly, the idea of working behind the scenes, and operating
an arts organization excited me immensely. As I found internships working for the
New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Jazz House
Kids and Little Kids Rock, I became fixated on the business aspect of the arts.
Planning and executing various performances, fundraising events and educational
programs was exciting and gratifying, which led me to decide to pursue a career in
arts administration and attend graduate school. I decided that attending the
University of Cincinnati was the best option for me because of its academic rigor
and because it offers a program in which I can earn my MA and MBA in Arts
Administration. I believe pursuing an MBA would be an excellent opportunity for
me to gain the educational experience needed to excel in this field.... Show more

I want to build up an organization that addresses the education needs of the
community and provides services and programs that students do not get in school. I

through several internships and jobs in arts administration, I need the educational
experience to provide a more solid understanding of how to run a successful nonprofit
organization. This means an organization that fulfills its mission, is financially
healthy, and is expanding and growing constantly to meet the needs of the
21. How Double-Strand Breaks
One explanation as to how x rays effect cells is that the radiation causes double
strand breaks (DSBs). A double strand break is a lesion within DNA which can
prevent replication, cause deletions, or cause translocations of the DNA. All of the
named effects have the potential to cause a mutation to a cell (Negritto, 2010).
Double strand breaks are known as genomic rearrangements because it has been
shown to change the genetic code of a cell. All of the effects of DSBs may lead to
an increase in the recombination of genes in chromosomes, which may explain how
the cells are mutated. In one experiment, cells were exposed to x ray radiation in
order to test the frequency of DSB. H2AX is a type of proteins that repairs double
strand breaks
22. A Political Cartoon Analysis
Having a Master s degree would be nice. After completing 4 years of college and
then going back for a master s degree and graduating with that is an amazing
accomplishment. There is so man benefits that come with this high degree, more
money, better jobs, and more education in the particular work field as the masters.
Let s get this straight, though, going back for a master s degree costs a lot of money.
Just to get a bachelor s degree cost a lot of money so going back to college for more
years will cost a lot more. That s the only downfall of getting a master s degree, the
price. In the political cartoon about a master s degree, the author makes it clear of
the downfall of getting that degree which is the price. He uses color, layout, and
characters to make this point very clear. The first notice of this picture is the color
of it. It is not in pretty colors whatsoever. It is two colors, blackand white. When
people see black and gray, most people think about back in the day when times were
tough and money was scarce. The black part of the picture brings out the gloom...

In the cartoon, the certain objects and how they are placed shows how the big
picture of the cartoon is proven. When looking at the cartoon, there is a big hand
coming from the top right corner, on the hand, it says lender. Attached to the hand
is a chain which is connected to the hands of the graduate. This chain is handcuffed
to the graduate s hand symbolizing that the graduate is stuck and will not be going
anywhere. Also in the photo, the graduate is holding a diploma, but instead of it
saying congratulations, it says DEBT written across it. This depicts that the
graduate, since going for a master s degree, is now in debt. These objects in the
image make it very clear that getting a master s degree will cost a lot of money. The
last rhetorical element that proves the author s point is the characters in the
23. Meritocracy In America
I was player 2 for Team C, and I was content with my position in the social structure.
Although I did not have as much money or property as Vincent (player 1), I had
enough money to buy some property and play the game comfortably. Because of my
wealth, I made it to the end of the time limit.
My strategy for playing monopoly was to buy as much property as I can. Prior to the
game I already had Pennsylvania Avenue and Oriental Avenue. By the end of the
game, I had also bought Baltic Avenue, Connecticut Avenue, and Water Works.
However, the money I spent on the properties was not a smart investment because
the players would not land on it frequently, and if they did, the rent for the property
was not a lot of money to make a large difference ... Show more content on

The idea of meritocracy in the United States is challenged in this version of
monopoly as it was very difficult to see anyone transcend their original social
class. There are several factors that contribute to the economic inequality; some of
those factors are the achievement gap and school tracking. The economic
inequality is exacerbated if racial and economic stratification is also studied
alongside it. For example, the median income for blacks and Hispanics is much
less compared to white families. As mentioned before, one reason for this is the
achievement gap. Children from lower income families (which tend to be black or
Hispanic families) do not perform as well as children from higher income families
(which tends to be white families). Because of the large difference of income
between low income families and high income families, children from high income
families can afford opportunities to retain the information that they learn from
tutors or participate in programs over the summer. The achievement gap also
enables school tracking which allows schools to separate students into tracks, or
courses, based on their academic achievement. Because of the division, white
students tend to be in higher tracks compared to black or Hispanic students who
are placed in lower tracks. Due to the different expectation for both tracks, the
expectation and goals of students in the higher tracks are much higher compared to
students of the lower tracks. As a result, students of the higher track expect
themselves to take AP course or to complete college as compared to students on the
lower track who believe they won t be successful in college and will just get their
high school diploma or drop out of high

The Black man has a long history of slavery, violence and general tension in the

The heavy symbolism on paraphernalia in the language of Nuwaup make it difficult
for a non member to attain the knowledge they seek without membership or reading
every single publication. I recognized some of the esotericism and secrecy had been
written in between the lines of the publications from structures of secret societies
such a freemasonry and Orders of the Golden Dawn. Although I could not fully
decipher the mission statement and main objectives of Nuwaubianism, I was able to
get an idea of their sentiments toward race and the position of the Black man in
society today. These revelations came in the form of an interview. The interview was
non traditional in the sense that I did very little of the talking. A member of the
organization mistook me for a fellow member and began a conversation concerning
their thoughts on their indoctrination. The conversation was fruitful in that it
provided sentiments on the outside world wrapped in Nuwaubian dogma, uninhibited
by the censorship normally provided to outsiders. According to the interview, a Black
man s capacity to flourish relies heavily on the amount of neuromelanin he possesses.
Animism is the original religion of The Black man and paying homage to your

27. The Patriot Movie Analysis
The Patriot. A person who is willing to fight for their country against enemies. The
Patriot begins in the year 1776 in the colony of South Carolina. Mel Gibson plays a
planation farmer who fought in the French Indian war named Benjamin Martin. A
War was about to begin and Benjamin wanted no share partaking in the soon to be
American Revolutionary War. He was more concerned about his two eldest sons
who wanted to fight under General George Washington. The beginning of the
movie starts out with Benjamin Martin peacefully living with his kids whom no
longer have a living mother. Benjamin s oldest son, Gabriel, joins the war without
permission from his father. As the rest of the family are at home one afternoon,
Colonel William Travington burns the Martin Plantation to the ground and his
second oldest son was killed immediately for interrupting Travington s plan.
Benjamin finds a way to seek revenge because of the rage he experiences after his
family is hurt. He begins to realize that he needs to fight for his children and he
will not do it alone. Both Benjamin and his oldest son, Gabriel, decide to join the
militia as a way of showing what they are capable of. Throughout the film,
Benjamin Martin becomes a soldier whom others respect and admire. He shows
the militia what it means to truly care for not only his men, but also for his family.
As the film progresses, a turn of events take place that show Benjamin s continued
want of revenge against General Charles Cornwallis. The Continentals and the
militia soon commence the battle at Cowpens. This is when Benjamin Martin
meets his enemy, Travington, who murdered his two eldest sons. After a drawn
out battle, Benjamin stabs Travington in the neck and kills him for the sake of his
children. It is then that General Cornwallis retreats his forces and the rest
celebrate. Even though some portions of The Patriot aren t as accurate as we
perceive, it is a film full of war and despair, but also a film that contributes to the
importance of dignity and the love for one s family. The Patriot attracts an audience
who is interested in learning about generalized history, but also wanting to feel a
sense of pride and enjoyment in the end as the United States of America is

the most powerful, advanced and wealthiest nation in the world. Even in my
country, located on the other side of the globe, everyone believed that in America,
no matter who you were, you were able to achieve anything. The American Dream
the idea that anything is possible if you work at it hard enough was deeply believed

But unfortunately, this is not the only problem. As Locke claims, there exist some
stereotypes, which make it even harder for low class family members to become

much more than the others to survive, members of the low class believe that getting
an education is just a waste of time. Intelligence is scorned within the tanks of the
poor , claims Locke. On the other hand, if you manage to become successful, move
up into the class, the attitude of the rich toward you will be different, than the attitude
to the members of the same class. In contrast, everybody in the U.S. believes in
American Dream anyone can achieve anything if they work hard

task at first. As I progressed and days passed I become more robust in using
Windows Movie Maker to make a PSA. Sifting through 100 s of pictures and
videos I slowly, but surely began to eliminate those that were not up to the mark.
Continuing to sort through the videos and photos, I began to put together a
storyboard. This storyboard would then be animated into one coherent, powerful
PSA. When I first started making my PSA I began with looking for videos that
would fit into my particular theme. I looked for videos that appealed to the pathos

Showing the effects of hate speech was not a difficult task that took quite a while
in order to select the correct photos. Many effects were psychological and therefore
difficult to display on screen. At the same time I also had to look for photos that

several photos that would display the effects of hate speech, and what would
happen if it were eliminated. With the combination of all the pictures I had settled
on, I could see a complete, cohesive PSA coming together. Compiling the videos,
photos, and other details such as music and transitions was the most difficult part
of the entire assignment. The way the slides and pictures are laid decide whether
or not the PSA is well designed or poorly designed. Selecting the correct music to
go along with the video was also troublesome. After listening to multiple songs,
they all began to combine together. I first eliminated songs with lyrics as most
would not play well with my topic. The song had to have an emotional tone that
went from sad and down to happy and upbeat. Many songs were like this, but most
did not fit the bill until I came along to the perfect. As the music flowed through my
headphones, I knew that this was it. Once I had the correct music all the pieces of
the puzzle began to come

32. Fuel Injection Is A Mandatory Part Of The Combustion
Process
Fuel injection is a mandatory part of the combustion process. The chemical energy
provided by the fuel allows the engine to transmit power for a myriad of uses in the
marine industry including power and propulsion or a combination of the both. The
results of combustion include heat and exhaust gases. These exhaust gases, in
addition to cost, make fuel injectionsystems more important today than ever. The
International Maritime Organization s Marine Pollution Prevention annex VI has
established new regulations for nitric oxides, and sulfur oxide emissions which are
the by products of fuel combustion. Electronic fuel injection systems play a important
role in the reduction of these emissions by improving the efficiency of fuel
combustion.
The main function of the fuel oil injection system is to provide the right amount of
fuel at the right time. In order for fuel injection systems to work, there must be a
means of measuring the fuel supply and a way to time the delivery and atomization
of the fuel. This paper was completed in order to examine and compare two types of
electronically controlled fuel injection systems, mechanically driven injection and
electronic injection. The two types of systems we researched were the Sulzer RTA
Series and the Sulzer RT Flex.

diesel engine and have five to eight cylinders. These engines were designed for
tankers and bulk carriers between 20,000 and 30,000 total

34. How Technology Has Broadened The Spectrum Of
Applications
4.EMERGING DEVICES
The continuous scaling of CMOS technology has broadened the spectrum of
applications. Complex architectures can be now realized on a single chip. The
integration of existing and new technologies with CMOS extends the scope of
implementation.
Figure 3 : Relationship among More Moore, More than Moore, and Beyond CMOS
4.1More than Moore
The functional diversification of the semiconductor based devices by non digital
components is More than Moore implementation. These non digital functionalities
may not scale at the same rate as the digital components. The non digital components
are capable of interacting with outside world through sensors and actuators. This
integration of functions like analog and mixed signal processing, addition of passive,
power components and bio chips increases the range of applications such as
communications, automotive, biomedical and security. As integration grows so does
the challenges, it demands the need for multidisciplinary research programs to run in
pace with growing scientific fields.
4.2More Moore
The expansion of the CMOS by conventional dimensional scaling to reduce the cost
per function and improved performance is More Moore. This also comes with
resource scarcity such as power availability and reduced flexibility in interconnects.
Power dissipation becomes a critical problem in such devices due to large logic
circuits. Since the battery capacity has not improved much but the amount of logic in
SoC almost doubles

United States Versus the Congo
Do you ever think about how lucky you are? You should. You live in one of many
countries that cares for its citizens. Living in America you have opportunities that
other countries will never have. For example, there are many third world countries
that struggle daily to keep multiple citizens alive. These citizens have to fight for
their lives and sometimes never get any form of medical help. Whereas in America
we have many different resources that allow us to be a strong world power, if we
lost citizens by the hundreds weekly we would be a country in need. Many countries
in Africa are considered third world countries because they are overpopulated and
under developed.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), located in Central Africa, struggles
daily because the government fails. The country has been in civil conflicts for
nearly a decade, this however is not the main health hazard. In the 16th and 17th

36. The Effect Of Caffeine On The Heart Rate Of Daphnia
The purpose of this experiment was to see if caffeine had an effect on the heart rate
of Daphnia (water fleas) by observing them under the microscope and recording their
heart rate over a period of time in concentrations of caffeine. Caffeine, which is a
stimulant drug rttused in coffee, tea, Red Bull and Pro plus, causes increased
amounts of stimulatory neurotransmitters to be released. As caffeine is a stimulant, a
prediction was made that caffeine would increase the heart rateof the Daphnia.
Method
To conduct this study a culture of living Daphnia were collected from a nearby
natural water source area.
A light microscope was set up with the light on a low setting; one large Daphnia
was selected and placed in the centre of a cavity slide by using a pipette.
The Daphnia and the cavity in the slide was surrounded by a ring of cotton wool, this
restricted the movement of the Daphnia making it easier to count its heart rate under
the microscope.
No cover slip was used as it would have damaged the water flea and stopped its
oxygen supply. Before placing the slide under the microscope, a tissue was used to
remove the pond water around the Daphnia and with a pipette plain water was added
to the cavity slide.
As soon as the water was added a timer was set for two minutes and the slide was
placed under the microscope.
Steadily adjusting the controls on the microscope the Daphnia was made visible and
the heart was located through its translucent body.

incident. For example there is a young person in my care who we have observed
that responds well to humour, so if he is beginning to display negative/challenging
behaviour we try to make jokes with him and sometimes tickle him. This turns his
mood around and prevents an incident even taking place. It is important to use the
least restrictive interventions where possible as if you didnt it could lead to further
dilemmas such as verbal abuse, physical abuse, damage to property etc.
1.6 Describe safeguards that must be in place if restrictive physical interventions are
being used.
It is important to ensure that the young people and staff are all safeguarded. Any staff
that will be using physical interventions should have attended the mandatory training,
risk assessments should be in
38. Severe Anorexia Nervosa
Oftentimes, Anorexia Nervosa is classified as a psychological disorder and is not
viewed as an instigator of communication disorders. Besides the obvious negative
consequences of eating disorders, anorexia can cause an onset of dysphagia.
Anorexia is a terrible disease and the annual death rate is approximately 12 times
higher than the death rate of all causes of death among females ages 15 to 24
(Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler, 2012). Severe anorexia Nervosaencompasses a
plethora of medical complications that affects each body system and causes severe
weakness (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler, 2012). At this time, Speech
Language Pathology (SLP) is not well versed in treatment and management of
anorexia conditions. Veldee... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The women were institutionalized in an acute medical center and experienced
complications of malnutrition and dysphagia (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler,
2012). To begin the study, the women were subjected to a bedside swallow
evaluation and video fluoroscopic studies (VFSS) (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani,
Mehler, 2012). Two of the patients showed signs of mild to moderate dysphagia and
one demonstrated severe dysphagia (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler, 2012).
Two of the three also showed aspiration and the third showed penetration (Holmes,
Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler, 2012). Upon reviewing the findings, a SLP team was
brought in to perform therapy via NMES, along with swallowing therapy (Holmes,
Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler, 2012). Swallowing therapy tasks included
compensatory strategies and strengthening exercises (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani,
Mehler, 2012). The NMES device of choice in the study was the Vitals Stim Therapy
Unit (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler, 2012). The patients were tested orally
using the following consistencies: puree, thin, nectar thick, honey thick, mechanical
soft and regular textures. Their results were measured by using the Penetration
Aspiration Scale that scores the passage and ejection of material into the airway and
vocal folds. The scale provides a score ranging from one to

Lesson 11
Unicon Concrete Products (H.K.) Ltd Case Report
April 1, 2010
Executive Summary
Unicon is a major player in the flourishing Hong Kong market for pre cast concrete
products and Mr. Li, the deputy managing director is pursuing the idea of blanket
approval for Unicon s custom design concrete products with one of it s largest
customers, the Hong Kong Housing Authority. This proposition could offer savings
to both Unicon and the customer but this could adversely affect the relations with
other customers and the manufacturing operations. If Unicon is to stay competitive in
the ever expanding market, management must have a plan to ... Show more content on

Facade Production;

In the Hong Kong market facades and slabs are in the early stages of their product
life cycle, partitioning walls and stairs are more advanced stages. Partitioning
walls were first produced in 1972 and unlike facades and slabs are produced in
standard sizes using a module design. The old method of pour in place walls and
floors are mature according to this case. Demand for precast is rapidly growing
because of the Hong Kong construction market. As the markets grow we are
expecting to see more modular designs and standard dimensions emerge. Unicon has
to be careful since competitors from mainland China are expected to enter the market
next year when barriers fall.
There are advantages and disadvantages of the blanket approval approach. Who will
actually benefit from the cost reductions? It may not be Unicon since competitive
pressures may force the pre cast construction companies to pass on some of their
savings. The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HKHA) might look for some sort of
rebate from the general contractors, this will insure that the cost saving measure is
includes in all projects. Unicon has to
41. Analysis Of The Film Jigsaw
In the film JIGSAW, the screenwriters are Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. The
directors are Micheal Spiering and Peter Spiering. Its genre falls under crime,
horror, mystery, and thriller. The production company is Twisted Pictures.
JIGSAW is the eighth film in the SAW franchise it features deadly scenarios with
extreme gore, torture, and violence. Each player must follow the rules of the game
or there would be consequences such as body parts being sliced to bits, needles
injected with poisons, which may result death. John Kramer is a serial killer who
teaches his victims to value life lessons by placing them in deadly traps. After being
dead for ten years series of murders are appearing with the marks of the jigsaw killer.
Detectives and investigators find themselves chasing the ghost of John Kramer
who its purpose is to remind the world to be appreciative towards life by testing the
victims will to live. The victims are forced to face physical torture upon
themselves by killing others in order to escape. Five victims are trapped in a room
and in order to continue in the games for survival they are forced to experience
physical torture. The first victim dies in the first test due to being unconscious and
cannot manage to free himself. As the four victims continue in the games they are
selected due to their lies and must confess the truth for survival. One of the victim
dies from an injection of acid, and the other one dies from being lowered into a death
spiral
42. Healthy Diet
A healthy diet is one that helps maintain or improve health. It is important for
lowering many chronic health risks, such as obesity, heart disease, diabetes,
hypertension and cancer.[1] A healthy diet involves consuming appropriate amounts
of all essential nutrients and an adequate amount of water. Nutrients can be obtained
from many different foods, so there are numerous diets that may be considered
healthy. A healthy diet needs to have a balance of macronutrients (fats, proteins, and
carbohydrates), calories to support energy needs, and micronutrients to meet the
needs for human nutritionwithout inducing toxicity or excessive weight gain from
consuming excessive amounts. |

Governments also put pressure on businesses to promote healthful food options,
consider limiting the availability of junk food in state run schools, and tax foods
that are high in fat[citation needed]. Vending machines in particular have come
under fire as being avenues of entry into schools for junk food promoters. However,
there is little in the way of regulation and it is difficult for most people to properly
analyze the real merits of a company referring to itself as healthy. Recently, the
United Kingdom removed the rights for McDonald s to advertise its products, as the
majority of the foods that were seen have low nutrient values and high fat counts
were aimed at children under the guise of the Happy Meal [citation needed]. The
British Heart Foundation released its own government funded advertisements, labeled
Food4Thought , which were targeted at children and adults displaying the gory nature
of how fast food is generally constituted.
[edit] Cultural and psychological factors
From a psychological and cultural perspective, a healthier diet may be difficult to
achieve for people with poor eating habits.[16] This may be due to tastes acquired
in early adolescence and preferences for sugary and fatty foods. It may be easier for
such a person to transition to a healthy diet if treats such as chocolate are allowed;
sweets may act as mood stabilizers, which could help reinforce correct nutrient
intake.[citation needed]

43. Advantages Of One Person Company
WRITE UP ON ONE PERSON COMPANY
Concept of One Person Company:
OPC is a new concept in India which has been introduced by the company s act
2013. It is a new vehicle/form of business thereby enabling Entrepreneur(s) carrying
on the business in the Sole Proprietor form of business to enter into a Corporate
Framework. One Person Company is a hybrid of Sole Proprietor and Company form
of business, and has been provided with concessional/relaxed requirements under the
Act.
Section 2(62) of the Companies Act, 2013 define one person company as a
company which has only one person as member. OPC is a sub domain of Private
Company as per Section 2(68).

Advantages of OPC over a Company
1. One shareholder:
This is the main advantage of a One Person Company. In fact, One Person Company
is defined in the Companies Act as a Company which has only one member. A single
shareholder holds total shareholding.
Who can become a Member?
Only a natural person who is a resident of India and also a citizen of India can form
a one person company. It means that other legal entities like companies or societies or
other corporate entities cannot form a one person company.
2. One Director:
The other material point is that a One Person Company may have only one director.
But at the same time there is no bar on more number of directors. However, as per
the Act, the total number of directors shall not be more than 15.
3. Requirement to appoint a Nominee
This is a very important concept where the person forming the One Person Company
has to nominate a Nominee with his written consent who, in the event of death or
inability to contract of the owner of the One Person Company, shall come forward
and take over the management of the one person
44. Antarctica Ice Sheet Trends
The ice sheets in Antarctica and Greenland are changing rapidly and are contributing
significantly to sea level rise (Church et al., 2011). In Greenland, surface melt leading
to runoff and enhanced ice discharge from outlet glaciers have contributed in equal
amount to the mass loss of the ice sheet (van den Broeke et al., 2009). In Antarctica,
ice dynamics has been the dominant contributor to the mass loss in recent decades,
but surface mass balance signal exhibits inter annual fluctuations large enough to
significantly modulate the mass loss. In the mountain glaciers of Alaska, Canada,
Patagonia and others, surface mass balance (SMB) processes dominate the total mass
balance (Larsen et al., 2015). Projecting the contribution of ice sheets... Show more

While its prime goal is to bridge the data gap between ICESat 1 (2003 2008) and
ICESat 2 (2018 ) altimetry to build long time series of volume changes of the ice
sheets, OIB complements the altimetry record started with the Airborne
Topographic Mapper (Krabill et al., 2012) (1993 present), ERS 1/ENVISAT (1992
present) and continued with Cryosat 2 (2010 ). As a secondary objective, OIB
provides observations of variables critical to the interpretation of the altimetry
record, including: ice thickness from the Multichannel Coherent Radar Depth
Sounder (MCoRDS) (Leuschen et al., 2016), snow accumulation and firn structure
from accumulation and snow radars (Leuschen, 2015; Leuschen et al., 2016),
surface topography from Digital Mapping System (Dotson et al. 2014),
bathymetry beneath ice shelves from airborne gravity and magnetics using
Sanders Geophys. Ltd s AIRGrav (Cochran et al. 2016; Tinto et al., 2011; Tinto et
al., 2014). As a result of these efforts since OIB inception in 2009, we have
obtained continuous time series of altimetry observations over Greenland and select
sectors of Antarctica (e.g. Krabill, 2016; Blair et al., 2015; Csatho et al., 2015), a
quantum leap in our knowledge of ice thickness, bed elevation in Greenland
(Morlighem et al., 2014 and 2015) and in select sectors of Antarctica (e.g. Rignot et
46. The Issue Of Protection Is Needed For The World Today
The generation in today society has to understand that protection is needed for the
world today because the people need to feel safe and comfortable. In every state,
the requirement of protection is considered a law and is different extremely in each
50 state. Most people abide by the protection law because it s the ethical decision to
do, but some people do the opposite for their own egocentric reasons. In Mississippi
(American), consumers have protection from unscrupulous sellers and adequate
information to make wise marketplace choices (Norrgard, 1988, p.61). A young
Mississippi woman went to every business and individual advertising her new product
of shampoo for women and men. She publicly announced to the entire consumerthat

Critically analyse how a multi level governance perspective can help us understand
the policy process in the UK. This essay will attempt to show that multi layered global
governance, supra national level governance, national governance, sub national
governance is already a reality for the citizens of the United Kingdom .There is no
longer only one or two levels of government as in the past Central Government and
local government . Government is the traditional understanding of how the UK is
governed from Westminster through formal institutions and elected government.
While the nation state is likely to remain the foremost unit of government, Devolution

(Held et al.,1999,p8) There are many organisations which operate on the international
stage which broadly fall into two groups intergovernmental organisations (IGOs)
such as the United Nations, World Bank, and the World Trade Organisation, and also
non governmental organisations (NGOs) such as Oxfam, Greenpeace, or the
International Red Cross. IGOs and NGOs are important actors in the governance
process. (Hague and Harrop,2001, p.50 ) Multinational companies (MNCs) are also
hugely powerful players on the world stage as nations have often become
economically dependent on the vast amounts of capital which these companies
generate. Around fifty percent of world production is undertaken by multi national
companies. The UK government often mounts huge efforts to encourage multi
national companies to remain here in the UK. Multi national companies can exert
real pressure on the policy process in the UK merely by suggesting that they will
relocate. Companies are mobile while the state is not! For example the UK
government managed to persuade Ford to retain production of Jaguar cars within
Britain by the use of attractive financial incentives. ( Hague and Harrop, 2001, p.57 )
In that particular case they were successful, however there has been an increasing
trend for multi national companies to relocate their
48. Essay on Dating Anxiety
Dating Anxiety
Have you ever been really stressed about something? Think of the time when you
have been the most stressed out. Multiply that to the 10th power and you have me
before a date. It seems to me dating and stress are like salt and pepper; you almost
never have one without the other. Endless anticipations flood your mind, making it
almost impossible to keep a continuous train of thought. The worst thing about dating
is that you get seriously stressed out for one lousy night. It s enough to turn a sane
mind into a basket case. So much energy is put into preparing for a night that ends
up being pretty lame. One thing is for sure; dating is not worth the stress it brings.
Here are some examples of typical stresses you are faced ... Show more content on

Tension is filling the house so you decide to wait outside.
While waiting for your date you get ambushed by mosquitoes. Now your arms are
covered in itchy red bumps that will be nagging at you the entire evening. By the
time your date finally arrives, your hair has turned into a frizzy rat s nest from
waiting in the humidity, not to mention you are in the worst mood possible. You get
in the car trying to fake a genuine smile and just when you start to chill out and relax
the next issue is faced: where to go.
Of course your date leaves this crucial decision entirely up to you. After thinking
through all of the spots you like to go to, you pick one that seems to suit you both.
Unfortunately, you picked the place where your date s ex girlfriend likes to go. So
you spend the whole evening trying to spark a good conversation as your date
jealously eyeballs all the guys his ex is flirting with. After you realize the night is
not going to get any better, you get the tab and ask your date for a ride home. Just
when you think it s over and you re in the clear, you arrive at the most awkward
situation of the evening: saying goodnight.
Tradition says that there must be a kiss before the night is officially over, but there is
absolutely no physical attraction between
49. Digital Intellectual Property Is The Creative,...
Digital intellectual property is the creative, intelligence, and artistic work produced
by the creator whose value comes from the ideas, research, skills, and labor he/she
put in. Intellectual properties are protected by the copyrights and patent law. Writing
code and designing systems can be considered as intellectual property, and they are
protected by the copyrights and patent law. However, in the computer software
industry, there are some cases where the line between something original or simply
copyrightinfringement is blurred out and the case between Oracle and Googlefor
using JAVA APIs interface in Android is a good example. Google copied code from
JAVA, used in their Android mobile platform, and Oracle own JAVA, sued Google for
copyrights infringement.
Google s Android is the most popular mobile platform in the world with more than
eighty percent market share, and it is based on JAVA which was developed by Sun
Microsystems and currently own by Oracle. JAVA is an open source language and
open to the public to use for free. However, open source code does not allow
modifying the code without licensing or publishing back the modified code in the
open community. In 2007, when Google first released Android SDK beta, they have
used some of the JAVA higher level interfaces that require licensing. Google knew
that from the very beginning, modification of JAVA code and including them in the
Android SDK is violating copyrights law yet they went on using the modified JAVA
50. The Importance Of Direct Democracy
As citizens of the United States, Americans have the responsibility of understanding
their abilities in regards to contribution to political decisions. Especially in recent
years, Americans have come to realize the true significance of direct democracy or a
lack thereof. Although on a federal level direct democracyis lacking, on the state level,
including Californian government, direct democracy can have a significant impact
on the lives of citizens.
What identifies direct democracy as an important tool and a source of power for
citizens is the direct power they have over legislation and/or politics hence, direct
democracy; the citizens do not need approval and recognition by politicians, nor do
they need to be led by them to succeed. The only ingredient required for success is
the support of the masses, which is generally more plausible with an access to large
sums of money. In general, there are three primary methods used in the execution of
direct democracy: referendum, recall, and initiative.
When citizens are unhappy over a piece of legislation that has already been
ratified, it can be petitioned, and if successful, ultimately lead to a popular vote for
the law this is what is known as a referendum. Referendum can come about in two
prime ways legislative referendum and popular referendum. Legislative referendum
is where a legislature allows the people to vote on a bill as opposed to the legislature
voting on it, whereas popular referendum is an attempt to
