The Gap Between Whites And Blacks
while the gap between whites and collective blacks does not shrink. The authors argue that in
group versus out group hostilities will lessen between the whites and honorary whites, however
this will only increase their in group size compared to the out group of the collective blacks and
only create new tensions while strengthening old ones between these two groups. This will be
because the collective blacks will feel more segregated from their lighter skinned counterparts. This
type of grouping will only allot the whites more power as honorary whites participation within
social society will rely solely on their whitesuperiors for their approval. Maxine Leeds Craig argued

Ludwig also writes that white is monochromatic, which relates to racial intermixing and the idea of
white purity or eugenics because once a wholly white European has sex with someone who is not,
then their child s dominant white genes are saturated with others gene types, thus believed to taint
their purity and dub them less white and less valuable. This is the same with other skin colors that
may purposely mate with someone who possesses milky, white skin in order to perpetuate this
idealized characteristic in their child, because the own dismay for their own skin color, precedent by
the colorism fluxes in society, is influential because parents do not want their child to go through
the social maltreatment they endured. Another reason for the overemphasis on the importance of
whiteness may be its relationship to light, as white is strictly opaque, lacking dimensions unlike
its colorful counterparts whose dimensions compare to their prejudicial past and present in which
they suffer from discrimination and bigotry by its white Supremes. This differs from black
because other in between colors like red, green, and blue all make variations of black when
combined at different levels, which is representative of the forgotten races of Asians, Native
Americans, Latinos, etc. When this occurs, even if the resulting color is a lighter shade, it is still

North Carolina Case Study
North Carolina is one of the fastest growing states within the United States. There are many factors
that contribute to making North Carolina attractive to people all across the world, including
affordability, strong housing market, quality of life, and global access. First time home buyers who
are eying real estatein North Carolina should consider Durham real estate as a place to purchase
their new home.
Why Consider Durham, North Carolina?
Durham is one of the major cities in the Piedmont of North Carolina that constitutes the Research
Triangle. The Research Triangle is home to many Fortune 500 companies that are high tech or
research based. As a result of easy access to jobs, residents within Durham have incomes that are
higher than the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Affordability is a critical factor to consider when it comes to purchasing a home for the first time.
With a strong job market, a first time home buyer can rest assured that the chances of them keeping
their homes without defaulting on the loan is high. In particular, foreclosure rates have remained
the same in Durham compared to last year, at only one percent. With average home prices
increasing and more people coming to Durham, an unchanged foreclosure rate speaks to the
strength of Durham s economy.
Homes Continue to Appreciate
Another reason the Durham real estate market is so attractive to potential homeowners is the fact
that they can watch their investment grown in no time. Home appreciations within the area have
been impressive for a few years, and homeowners continue to reap the rewards. As a result, the
number of closed sales continues to increase. Over 250 homes were sold in the month of
November in Durham County, an increase of two percent overall. In the same time span, a
neighboring county and home of the capital city Raleigh realized a drop in home closes of over
two percent.

Essay On Foster Home Theory
There are many cold cases out there, and many families are still out there waiting for justice. An
article titled, America s Unknown Child, written by multiple concerned citizens, is one of these
cases. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 25, 1957, A boy commonly called America s
Unknown Child was found. His identity has never been discovered and the case remains
unsolved. No substantial evidence has been found, but there are a few theories. The most
compelling theory is about the foster home, because of the location of the body, the evidence,
and the interviews. The Boy in the Box is the name given to an unidentified murder victim, 3 to
6 years old, whose naked, battered body was found in a cardboard box in the Fox Chase section
of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 25, 1957. There are many theories in this case, but
the most convincing is the foster home theory. This theory concerns a foster home that was
located approximately 1.5 miles from the site of the body. In 1960, Remington Bristow, an
employee of the medical examiner s office who pursued the case until his death in 1993, contacted
a New Jersey psychic, who told him to look for a house that matched the foster home. When the
psychic was brought to the Philadelphia discovery site, she led Bristow directly to the foster
home.Upon attending an estate sale at the foster home, Bristow discovered blankets hanging on the
clothesline that were similar to the one in which the boy s body had been wrapped.

Unemployment is a key factor that plays a significant role in both economic growth and
development which is the aim of any country. Unemployment is defined when a person who is
actively searching for employment is unable to find work. There are many ways one can be
unemployed hence, there are different types, frictional, cyclical and structural. Frictional
unemployment is a type of unemployment which is usually caused because unemployed workers

Exam Malpractice
CHAPTER ONE 1.0INTRODUCTION The grace to succeed and avoid frustration and the
embarrassment associated with failure have made students engage in examination malpractices and
thus have threatened the very foundations of our educational system. Examination malpractices
which started off as a minute issue has over the years grown into a full fledge vice in the academic
world with different method of perpetuating the act being invented with the passage of time. The
issue has become so popular that it has almost become a culture among the students starting from
the basics (Nursery and Primary) to even the advanced (post graduate) level. In light of this one is

MALPRACTICES IN NIGERIA A number of different forms are employed by students to carry out
the nefarious act. Some of these forms are unimaginable to the extent that it can beat the most
vigilant invigilators during the conduct of the examination. Broadly speaking, we have
sophisticated and Non sophisticated forms of exam malpractice. 2.1Sophisticated form of exam
malpractice The sophisticated forms (modern) form of examination include the use of modern
technology like computers, GSM, computerized calculator etc for cheating. The introduction of
examination malpractice from non sophisticated to sophisticated or modernized forms. 2.2Use of
micro computer The introduction of micro computers/high tech computerized calculators (with
inbuilt memory card) has spawned a new and more sophisticated approach to dishonest conduct
during exams. These devices are used to store Information in coded language. Hence unsuspecting
lecturers/ invigilators are easily fooled since they may pass such a device for a calculator. 2.3Use
of mobile phones The introduction of global system of mobile telephones (GSM) in Nigeria has

The main purpose of this report was to evaluate and research the financial information about
Priceline during the past five years to evaluate the future developing of the company.
In order to perform my research, I used Priceline s 10 K report to get the financial information
that was needed for this research. In addition, I used the company s website where I found basic
information about Priceline history and also other businesses that Priceline s group owns. Yahoo

brand new business model, two years later Walker applied for a patent for pricing system, a year
later he founded the Internet based travel agency Priceline which in 1998 begun its operation, in
the very first day the company was visited for more than half million times. The following year
the company went public and sold shares for $16 each, and most interesting that just thirty days
later the stock was traded for $165 per share. For 2000 the company purchased Lowesfares.com,
which was unsuccessful, and Mr. Walker also walked out of Priceline. In 2001 the company
staked a quarterly profit, two years later ended the car and telephone services; Priceline and
Travelweb LLC got an agreement and these two became partners. Deloitte Touche LLP is the
Company s independent registered public accounting firm. Priceline s interesting fact is that is
very well known for selling airline tickets, hotel and car reservations, but also is dedicated to offer
home mortgages and everything related to loans ( Board of Directors ).

For my creative project, I am designing a feminist activity book. The book will include games,
puzzles, coloring pages, word searches and more. Specifically, this book will outline how
feminism has progressed since the 1900 s starting with the first feminist wave until today as well
as an outline of the history of the different movements we have learned. The book will also
include some of the difficulties that women endure in today s society that we have discussed in
class, such as unpaid maternity leave or the wage gap. This also includes the different stereotypes,
prejudice, and discrimination women face in different aspects in their life (i.e. in the work place)
by having the audience complete different word searches and interactive puzzles.

Economic, Technological, and Social Aspects of Ocean Acidification
Natasha Pirani
November 29, 2014
ENVP 500 Developing a Sustainability Perspective
Dr. Liza Ireland
Ocean acidification is the decrease in the acidity levels of the Earth s oceans, caused by the intake
of carbon dioxide emitted in to the environment and atmosphere. Since the industrial revolution,
fossil fuel powered machines have increased human technology and advancement. However, this
has caused the emissions, large amounts of carbon dioxide, deforestation, and other greenhouse
gases into the atmosphere. Ocean acidification, in turn, has created a benefit to us by slowing
down climate change by absorbing the emissions in the water that have remained in the air.
However, studies are now starting to show that the massive amounts of carbon dioxide in the
water bodies are altering the water chemistry and affecting the biodiversity and life cycles of
many marine organisms, especially those at the lower end of the food chain. Other organisms
living off the food chain would be part of a symbiotic relationship involving nutrient cycling:
where all other organisms are feeding off of the larger one, yet are providing some benefit to the
overall host.
Washington State is sensitive to the impacts of ocean acidification because of its location and
oceanography. Some regional factors include, upwelling, hypoxia, nitrogen oxides /sulfur oxides,
and watershed inputs of nutrients, (Blue Ribbon Panel,

She gave a very fun and comedic twist to the role. My eyes were drawn to her even in scenes
where her character was the primary focus. She added plenty of subtle touches to convey how
scummy her character truly was. If you paid close attention, she could be seen spitting in her
customers food and stealing. It was a lot of fun to watch her in the background and look for
these easter eggs . She fully embodied the character and even sang in a nasally voice to give the
extra touch of cringe to her role. I would imagine a particular challenge for her was portraying a
character so much older than she is. This production was done entirely by students in elementary,
middle, and high school. As a high schooler, it must have been very difficult for her to portray a
middle aged woman; however, she pulled it off phenomenally by conveying such a raunchy,
bitter, trashy aura in her character. A particular scene where Nelson s performance stood out to me
was at the wedding of Cosette and Marius. Madame Thenardier and her husband put on ridiculous
disguises in an attempt to con Marius and steal from him. After being called out, the two start to
leave and a dish that Madame Thenardier stole falls from her purse. Nelson s facial expression and

Three Ways To Replace A Roof
Three Ways to Know That Your Roof Needs to Be Replaced
As your house ages, signs of wear can become evident, especially where the roof is concerned.
Weather elements such as wind, rain and even the UV rays from the sun cause signs of wear to
show up on the roof. When is it time not to repair a roof, but to replace it? Below are three ways to
determine the answer to this question.
1. The Age of the Roof
Roofs with asphalt shingles only last about 20 to 25 years and at times, less depending on the
quality of the shingle and the install. If your roof is approaching this age range, it is time to
consider replacing it with a new one rather than just patch jobs to repair the issues. A professional

Utilitarianism And Pleasure
In video 2, Sandel discuss the issue of whether there are values to everything, some believe that
not everything have a price while some believe that there has to be a value for everything in order
for people to decide which lead to more happiness. Then on part 2 he further discusses that whether
there are distinction between higher pleasure and lower pleasure? This issue started with the
discussion of utilitarianismwho was founded by Jeremy Bentham. Jeremy Bentham believe that the
greatest good is for an individual or a politician is to maximize the community s happiness,
therefore before making policy, law or even saying what is just or not, the individual and politician
should consider comparing the cost and benefit to maximize happiness.... Show more content on

Based on Jeremy Bentham, he believe that we can measure pleasure, The magnitude of a pleasure
is the duration multiplied by the intensity of the pleasure. (Archie, 1). Therefore the highest
pleasure is simply just pleasure that give you the strongest intensity and longest duration. Bentham
also said in one of his famous quote quantity of pleasure being equal, pushpin is as good as poetry.
In my opinion what Bentham is trying to say is that whatever things we choose to do is the higher
pleasure, quality doesn t matter, but the quantity is important. However, John Stuart Mill disagree
with Bentham. He believe that quality of pleasure is important Mill himself presents the claim
that mental pleasures are better than physical to be because humans prefer to exist in a way that
engages their higher faculties (Mill 56). We are unwilling to sink low due to our dignity as
humans (Mill 57). We are not swine, to be satisfied with the pleasure of pigs. (Bhardwaj, 5). Mill
believe that reading a book is higher pleasure than playing video games and to know that, human
need education. But, he also noted that sometimes people chooses lower pleasure over the
higher pleasure but the fact is, deep down in their mind the other choices are still a higher
pleasure. In my opinion, I believe in Jeremy Bentham s way of measuring pleasure, because I
believe that whatever we chooses to do is the one with a higher pleasure. For example, reading
Shakespeare or sitting at home playing video games, many people would choose to play video
game rather than Shakespeare because most people would feel that video give out most pleasure
but Shakespeare would give people a headache rather than

Short Story Monologue
Despite the speed demons driving, I had a fantastic time with my new friends. After exerting our
energy from walking around the mall, we stopped for a late lunch, before watching a movie
together, and headed back home. John invited me back to his apartment, yet I felt apprehensive
at the idea of being alone with him in his domain. Thank you, once again for taking me, I say as I
exit the car. Thanks for coming out with us, says Patsy. This time, I wait by the building door
and wave them goodbye before heading inside. As I skip my way up the stairs, ready to recap my
day to Alice, my phone shrills, causing me to pause just before my front door to retrieve it. Hey,

apartment, somewhat regretting John s invitation. As I manage to calm myself, allowing my
thoughts to run clearer, I realise the stupidity of spending the evening with John, enduring his
lingering stares, considering I m far from ready to attempt a relationship with anyone right now,
what with my wretched heart set on Angelo. Inside my bedroom, I remove my winter
accessories and leather coat, tossing them on the bed beside my bag and phone, and peer into
my washing basket. There isn t much in there, not enough for a full load, nevertheless, it will

and purchase of the washing powder and dryer sheets. I plunge my hand into my jeans pocket and

Similarities Between European And Asian Films
The Grittier Hero
The Western has traditionally been thought of as an American entity. Forging the west and its
frontier is what the nation sees as its identity. There are other versions of the this traditionally
American story. Countries outside the nation intrigued by the genre have taken the Western to other
levels and depicted the characters in a different light. European and Asian films have a divergent
perspective of the traditional lone man that comes to save the day. Films such as The Good, the
Bad, and the Ugly,by Sergio Leone, Seven Samurai, by Akira Kurosawa created men that were not
the America type of western men. These new interpretations were men that are clearly not good
nor truly evil, but blurred. These films have main characters, whether alone or in groups that are
closer to the antagonists in the films. Other countries viewed Western heroes as selfish and
individualistic, grittier, and in opposite of the white American hero. Typically in the American
version of the Western, the hero does usually have a jaded past, however, like characters in the
Virginian and John Ford films with John Wayne, the main protagonist is humble and down to
earth. Beginning in the 1960s, western films reflected the Vietnam conflict and its increasing
ambiguities, leading up to a crisis of public myth (Cawelti 145). Film as a whole reflected the
change in the hero s identity. In the film The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Leone made the
character of Blondie , played

Robert Atkin Diet Research
Claims:
The Atkin s diet is a low carbohydrate food regimen that requires the dieter to strictly limit their
intake of all carbohydrates such as starches and sugars. Limiting the body s consumption of
carbohydrates insures that the body is not able to convert excess glucose into fat. As a stated
benefit, the diet also claims that the reduced intake of sugars and starches will keep your blood
levels from dipping. This will help increase alertness while avoiding energy crashes. Robert Atkin,
the creator of the Atkin s diet, encourages dieters to instead focus on eating healthier fats that
contain omega 3 fatty acids. As featured on the diet s marketing website www.atkins.com, the

The studies were conducted on 322 participants who were overweight, most of whom had a BMI
of 31. The test subjects were predominantly male, with 86% being male, and 14% being female.
Weight lost was most prevalent during the first six months of the trial, for the subsequent year,
weight lost became much slower, with many gaining back some weight they lost. At the end of the
two yearlong trial, participants lost an average of 4.6 pounds.
Consequently, the Atkin s diet did work to some extent, however it was mainly beneficial to
people who were eating copious amounts of carbohydrates and refined sugars. The danger occurs
when a person who has a normal intake of carbohydrates begins the diet, this could eventually lead
to a carbohydrate deficiency.
The human body requires carbohydrates in the process of glycolysis (White B. 2000), in which
ATP is produced. During periods of starvation, the bodies enters ketosis, where fat is used as a
substitute for glucose. However, this process does not yield nearly as much energy as glycolysis
and leads to the production of ketones. This is dangerous because the presence of too much
ketones in the blood stream will offset the pH levels and make it

Basic Characteristics Of Am Technologies
Ayman Meckael 2567584
1) Make a list of different characteristics of AM technologies as a means to compare with CNC
machining. Under what circumstances do AM have the advantage and under what would CNC?
Materials
CNC machining it works particularly well for hard, relatively brittle materials like steels and other
metal alloys to produce high accuracy parts with well defined properties and normally be more
homogeneous and predictable in quality.
AM parts, in contrast, may have voids or anisotropy that are a function of part orientation, process
parameters or how the design was input to the machine.
Speed
High speed CNC machining can generally remove material much faster than AM machines can add
a similar volume of material. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Certain parts cannot be fabricated by CNC unless they are broken up into components and
reassembled at a later stage. Consider, for example, the possibility of machining a ship inside a
bottle. Most likely you would machine both elements separately and work out a way to combine
them together as an assembly and/or joining process. With AM you can build the ship and the
bottle all at once.
An expert in machining must analyze each part prior to it being built to ensure that it can be built
and to determine what methods need to be used. While it is still possible that some parts cannot be
built with AM, the most likely is much lower and there are generally ways in which this may be
overcome without too much difficulty.
Accuracy
AM machines generally operate with a resolution of a few tens of microns. It is common for AM
machines to also have different resolution along different orthogonal axes. The vertical build axis
corresponds to layer thickness and this would be of a lower resolution compared with the two axes
in the build plane.
Accuracy in the build plane is determined by the positioning of the build mechanism, which will
normally involve gearboxes and motors. This mechanism may also determine the minimum feature
size as well.
The accuracy of CNC machines is mainly determined by a similar positioning resolution along all
three orthogonal axes and by the diameter of the rotary cutting tools. There are factors that

Frida Kahlo Healing Style
The process of healing can be long and torturous; therefore, a person has to determine the best
way of healing. Frida Kahlo was a painter, who used multiple moments in her life to influence her
style of painting. She was disabled as a child after being diagnosed with polio. She was also
crippled at the young age of 19 after a traffic accident and suffered permanent injuries. As a child,
she learned that physical activity was a way to heal from an illness. However, this was not an
option for her due to her injuries. She was able to find another outlet, such as art, to allow her body
to heal. Frida Kahlodid not let her injuries hinder her ability to heal and express herself.

Criticisms Of The Distributive Model In Social Justice
Wadood, Jaleel

Professor Rogers

Criticisms of the Distributive Model in Social Justice Iris Marion Young takes on a strong position
surrounding the notion of a distributive model within the realm of social justice in Justice and The
Politics of Difference. She does not believe the distributive model truly encompasses the issues
within social justice, but rather limits social justice to the fair and just distribution of advantage
and strain amongst the members of society. The distributive model fails to acknowledge the
process that limits the distribution of human rights to society s members, thus lacking the means to
evoke change. Young takes on a position that focuses on the process of domination and oppression
within society and how that should be the primary focus when trying to understand social justice.
The distributive paradigm or model that Young refers to in her book defines social justice as the
morally proper distribution of benefits and burdens among society s members (Young 16). In that
regard, social justice is being viewed as the distribution of material goods, resources, and other
means of economic advancement. Social justice is much broader and goes far deeper than simply
defining who gets what. While the distribution of resources, wealth, and material goods is an
important factor when thinking about social justice, it should not be the center of discussion. The
distribution of such things comes first from the initiation of a social system that defined who was
worthy of receiving resources in life. To think that social justice is solely about the distribution of
wealthy possessions, ignores the fact that there are social structures that have been put into place in
order to control the distribution. In a sense, the distributive model only acknowledges the effects of
the issue and not the cause. By only focusing on the distribution of wealth, resources, income, and
jobs in society, the distributive model leaves out the way social constructions of race and class have
allocated the distribution of such possessions. There are institutions within society that are
controlling the distribution of various material things in society, and have been put in

Lack Of Women s Rights Of Muslim Women
The rights of women have been debated in communities around the world for centuries. Many
religions have agreed that women deserve to have the basic rights of men, but in the Muslim
world, men are allowed to decide which rights, if any, their sisters, daughters, wives, female
cousins, and even mothers can express. Islamic men should not have this extreme power over
women. Many Muslim feminists, including some men, have tried to stand up to this nonsense and
have been murdered for standing up for the rights the Qur an has given them. The typical Muslim
woman is equal to a Muslim man according to the Qur an (M. Ali and A. Ali Web), but Islamic law
permits men to abuse women s rights in their family or household (Friedland Web). Islamis not...

women that are stuck in relationships and marriages they never wanted, want to speak out so

depend on a male guardian. All women should have the right to express themselves by whatever
means they wish. Women should be allowed to mingle with whoever they wish, whenever they
wish. Muslim women deserve the right to be a woman, to speak, to learn, to drive, and to live
without permission. The women of Islam should be allowed to declare independence from their
family or their husbands. They should be allowed a long, healthy, prosperous life with or without a
man. There needs to be certain laws preventing the rape, murder, and abuse of women world wide.
Murder should never be allowed or go unpunished. Women s rights are more than just the rights of

The Current Food Of Food
The current food system is highly market oriented and has many flawes that impact people in
negative ways. The system contains problems starting form the production stage (farm labor
issues) to the distribution ( food insecurities ). The current food system is primary driven by
commodity rather than what people in communities want or need. In other words, because of
globalization the food system provides customers with goods without asking the needs and want
of the people. For instance, many cities in the United States have been exposed to food
insecurities that result in food deserts. In most cases, an area can be catagorized as a food desert
because they do not have the right type of food environment.
Last year, I started my research on food deserts in Baltimore. In order to identify the root of the
problem, I studied the historical cause of food deserts as well as systematic and economical
factors that left only certain community members marginalized. As I started to find feasible
solutions for food deserts, I looked into alternative food systems as a way of fighting against the
lack of access to healthy and affordable produces. In my research, I specifically focused a local food
system such as farmers markets. There are many benefits of localizing the food system, including
sustainability, less transportation of the produces and decentralizing the current food system while
providing a better access of food to people. As we read for this class, most people view the

the membrane structure into the blood stream which results in the elevated LDL levels in the

Atheism
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about Atheism, why it important as well as the
fundamental elements of being a part of it. I will discuss what Atheism is, how it originated, and
the number of people who practice this religion.
Central Idea: What is Atheism? Who? When? Where? And Why!?
Organizational Pattern: Topical
Introduction
Forrester Church once said, Religion is the human response to being alive and having to die. In
Christianity when one dies, a glorious heaven awaits them, where they will be adorned with
beautiful wings, a shining halo, and all of their loved ones will be with them. Atheism, on the other

With that definition, most people do not view Atheism as a religion. But as Reverend Bill
McGinnis states, If black is a color, then Atheism is a religion. Black is defined as the total absence
of color, however it is still considered a color. Likewise, even though Atheism is the belief in no
Gods, it is still defined as a religion because of the practice, values, and purpose.
So what is Atheism? It is zero religious affiliation what so ever, a complete rejection and disbelief
in any sort of God or Gods and religious documents.
Traditions, requirements, or boundaries are of a complete absence. Atheists are free to practice
any sort of spiritual healing imaginable as long as they do not answer, ask, pray, or plead to any
form of divine being.)
Moreover, religious documents are viewed as fiction. The Bible, especially, is seen as impossible
for Atheists to relate to or form any kind of scientific reasoning for our creation on Earth. Atheists
focus their attention on human doubt and science breakthroughs. Beliefs like evolution, natural
selection, and other scientific opinions are considered because of their factual foundations.
According to John Stuart, author of The Natural History of Atheism, Atheism originated in the 16th
century by the French. The Greek term Atheos meaning without Gods was

Engstrom Auto Mirror Case Study
Engstrom Auto Mirror, a successful privately owned plant since 1948 in Richmond, Indiana,
reached one of their biggest productivity setbacks in May 2007. In their near 60 years of business
this was the company s second cross with unprofitability since the 90 s, when technology was
surfacing and causing tension between the company and their customers. The manager at the time
was unable to adjust, deciding to resign in 1998. Nearing the end of the 90 s, Ron Bent was hired as

At that moment, it was apparent to them that a loss in revenue occurred due to mishaps within the

Dysfunctional Effect is when a change causes a negative event, such as a lapse in productivity.
(Newstrom 2015). The employee s motivation waned and the production of merchandise had
severely diminished. The plant s status as a certified supplier appointed to them by Toyota s
assembly line plant manager, was at risk (Beer 2008). The Scanlon Plan was brought into place in
1998 because of the initial inadequacy in employee drive. The Scanlon incentive increased the
productivity of the workers for nearly 5 years, but motivation with capital cannot be sustained
without a strong foundation of work determination. Workers were being given a dividend just to do
what they were originally hired to do. The reward to influence the employees to work was greater
than the actual act of communicating necessary responsibilities for the workers without an
incentive. Bent trusted too heavily on the Scanlon plan to repair the work ethic rather than
reiterating the psychological and economic contract. The psychological contract is the unofficial
agreement between employee and employer which defines the conditions of each employee s
psychological involvement both contributions and expectations. . (Newstrom 2015). The

Final Report Real Time Interactive group project
Introduction
For this report the process of creating the game Chased by Snakes as a member of Danger Noodle
will be discussed.
Methodology
For this project it was decided by the group to use a flat management structure, and to follow a
system akin to free development. This method meant that none of the group was the project
manager and instead the thing keeping people on track was their self motivation to complete the
project. To aid with completing the project at the start of the project a list of work was set out from
the requirements, and then each member of the group picked the tasks that they could complete for
the year. The main reason such a free and unstructured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another problem is that this method requires everyone to have high motivation if they want to
complete the project to a high standard and a as the group is small a few unmotivated people can
bring the whole project down. The group did have motivation problems during the middle of the
project with some group members not producing any work. The motivation could have been
reduced if the work been assigned one at a time instead of all at the start allowing people to focus
on one thing at a time and seeing the list of work get smaller.
A problem with using this flat management with free development is that there are not a lot of
examples to follow with many companies using agile. It seems that this flat management is new
to the games industry and so the group might make some mistakes that others can learn from in
the future who want to use the same structure. There are however some companies that do, valve
uses a flat management structure and so does Chucklefish games (Bithell , Sliwinski, Orlowski ,

people who are all self motivated to complete the parts of the game they are working on. As we

Scott Hightower s poem Father could be very confusing to interpret. Throughout almost the entirety
of the poem the speaker tries to define who his father is by comparing him to various things. As
the poem begins the reader is provided with the information that the father was all of these things
this things that he is being compared to. The constant use of the word was gets the reader to think
how come the speakers father is no longer comparable to these things? After the speaker reveals
that his father is no longer around, he describes how his father impacted him. Details about the
father as well as descriptions of the impacts the father has distraught on the speaker are all presented

After the reader makes an effort and takes his or her time to fully comprehend the poem entirely,
it becomes clearer that correlatively related ideas are expressed throughout the poem. The
correlations between several metaphors extend to intensify ideas about the father. As the
speakers father is compared to being an angel he does not literally mean that his father was an
angel with wings or an angel from biblical times because that would be improbable for the reader
to assume. What the speaker seems to suggest through his metaphor is that his father was his
savior and helper. This idea is intensified throughout the poem because the father is being
compared to a lamb which is symbolic for Christ, a globally symbolic healer and helper; the speaker
also states his father was a getaway driver which suggests that his father guided him away from
danger. Because the speaker also compares his father to a law abiding, favorable, person such as a
cowboy or a Texas Ranger it seems as if he is trying to guide the reader s interpretation of a getaway
driver away from a an illegal activity such as robing a bank. In addition to comparing his father
to helpers and getaway drivers, the speaker also states his father drove the boys away. This
famous metaphor describing the driving of the boys away is known to be symbolic of a father

Naked Economics Summary
Naked Economics Summer Assignment 1. The first chapter in the book is about the market and
its inner workings. The book briefly explains the idea of supply and demand, in which the price
of a certain good or service will reach the point where all the demand is equivalent to the supply.
However, the value of something is not determined by its necessity, but its desire within society, as
seen by the difference in cost between a diamond and life giving water. Markets operate as they do
because people try to maximize the amount of utility for themselves. Nevertheless, a strict

The Positive Impacts Of Athletic Participation And...
Just as studies at the collegiate level have found athletic participation to be both positive and
negatively related to academic performance, the same came be seen at the high school level.
However, in some of the early studies athletic participation was not seen to have an impact on
academic achievement (Lumpkin Favor, 2012). Hauser and Lueptow (1978) found in their study of
852 senior males that graduated in 1972, from five moderately large Midwestern city high schools,
that their results were in line with the results of the 1973, Lueptow and Kayser (as cited in Hauser
and Lueptow, 1978) study that they replicated, do not support a casual interpretation of the
relationship between athletic involvement and academic achievement. (Hauser Lueptow, 1978, p.
308). Alternatively, that athletic participation was not the underlining reason, but the initial
dissimilarities in academic achievement between athletes and non athletes. Marsh (1993) in his
study found a similar lack of effects for athletic participation on school grades. However, he did
find participation in athletics during the last two years of high schoolhad a statistically significant
positive impact for 14 of 22 senior and post high school outcomes and no apparent negative
effects. There do seem to be more studies that find either a negative impact (Beem, 2006; Cook,

However, both Heathcliff and Catherine were able to escape their crude attitude and adopt a more
polished attitude by escaping from the depressed environment. Although Thrushcross Grange and
Wuthering Heights are very different, the two households share similarities as well. Thrushcross
Grange and Wuthering Heights are isolated from other people. The two houses are miles apart, and
the only common visitor is the doctor. As a result from the isolation, the two households relied on
each other for company. As each visit brought a part of the visitor s household s atmosphere, the
transformation of Catherine and Heathcliff deepened. The presence of Edgar Linton caused
Catherine to act more refines and mature, and Heathcliff became more controlled with his anger.
However, because of their settings each character fell into their pervious attitude. Heathcliff began
to argue with Catherine because she spends more time with Edgar instead of him, and Catherine
aborted her pretense of being a refined individual when Nelly refused to obey her orders. This
recognize the fact that although that a person can change, they cannot change completely. The
setting is a very important part of the novel because it has a tremendous amount of influence. The
characters, the plot and the audience s reaction are influenced the most. The
influence of setting was reflected in wuthering heights, by Emily Bronte. Bronte

The Rise Of Caodaism In Vietnam
In the spiritual life of Vietnamese, religions such as Taoism, Christianity, Buddhism, Confucianism
and Islam are the mainstream. Each religion has similarities with the ethnic believes in Vietnam.
Nevertheless, one religion emerged and rose in an unimaginable rate during the twentieth century
Caodaism. It soon became Vietnams third largest religionafter Buddhism and Roman Catholicism.
The rapid rise of Caodaism is strongly related to its susceptible fundamental doctrines, combination
of various social groups, and strong historical context. From the French colonization and empiricism
of Japan, to the establishment of Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Caodaism played an important
political role thoroughly, and these events also deeply influenced the fate fo Caodaism.

inventions in history. Batteries are very important but is there anything we can replace it with
possibly, ourselves? Well, first we need to know what exactly a battery actually does. The first
true battery was invented by Alessandro Volta, an Italian physicist, in 1800. Batteries are a mass

The anode is known as the reducing agent, because it loses electrons. But do we know what it
means for a battery to be dead? Well, as the anode and cathode are connected to a circuit and a
chemical reaction takes place between the anode and the electrolyte, the reaction causes electrons to
race through the circuit and back into the cathode where another chemical reaction takes place.
When the material in the cathode or anode gets to the point where it is consumed or no longer able
to be used in the reaction, the battery is unable to produce electricity. At that point, your battery is
officially considered dead (Hymel 2016). More recently, in 1980, an American physicist Professor
John Goodenough invented the lithium battery. As lithium is one of the lightest elements on the
period table and being its electrochemical potential is extremely high, the combination produces
some of the highest possible voltages in the most compact and lightest volumes (Alarco 2015).
There is an unfortunate decent balance between advantages and disadvantage for lithium batteries.
An advantage is that its low maintenance, therefore the batteries don t exhibit a phenomenon
known as the Memory Effect , of which in short is now used as a general term for anything that
makes a battery not deliver at its full capacity. A disadvantage of lithium batteries is the cost.

George and Max have decided to combine the student special with the music nights. This causes
little change in their budgets and satisfies their criteria for evaluating solutions.
6. Test selected solutions.
After a solution has been identified and selected, a test should be made to ensure it s effectiveness.
This can be done through polling, analyzing, and other methods of collecting data.
George and Max will try their solutions for two weeks and observe the if there is an increase in
their sales by comparing the totals of the two weeks to the two previous weeks. They have also
chosen to advertise using homemade signs in the windows.
As with every change, there is a trail and error period where things are revised and new
circumstances may render the old decision obsolete. These steps are to be followed in an orderly
fashion, but this does not mean that they can not be returned to. If, after completing a step, the
desired result is not obtained, one can always go back to any previous step they wish and start from

Frederick Funston and Empire Essay
Frederick Funston and Empire
In San Francisco between 12th and 14th Avenue is Funston Street. By the Presidio, the former
US Army base, is an old set of military structures collectively called Fort Funston. To most people
these are just names to identify various locations in the city. But behind the name is a person who
is a historical figure that is significant, not just for San Francisco, but for the United States of
America and the Republic of the Philippines. Frederick Funston was to many a hero of his times
but to others he was also a symbol of his times and not a good one.
1898 saw the United States change from a nation taming a wild frontier to a nation building an
empire. The Spanish American war ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In May Admiral Dewey and his task force sailed into Manila Bay and destroyed the Spanish naval
force based there. On the way to Manila Dewey picks up exiled Philippine leader Emilio
Aguinaldo. With the help of local Philippine insurgents the Philippine capital, Manila, falls to
Admiral Dewey. War ends on August 12th with signing of peace treaty.
With the end of the war many people thought that the Philippines would be given its independence,
such as Cuba. But in December 12, 1898 President McKinley released the Benevolent Assimilation
Proclamation . Part of it stated: With the signature of the treaty of peace between the United States
and Spain by their respective plenipotentiaries at Paris on the 10th instant, and as a result of the
victories of American arms, the future control, disposition, and government of the Philippine
Islands are ceded to the United States. In the fulfillment of the rights of sovereignty thus acquired
and the responsible obligations of government thus assumed, the actual occupation and
administration of the entire group of the Philippine Islands becomes immediately necessary, and the
military government heretofore maintained by the united states in the city, harbor, and bay of
Manila is to be extended with all possible dispatch to the whole of the ceded territory. Armed
conflict broke out among the US troops and

Town Hall By Michelle Malkin Summary
Even though Michelle Malkin, a republican columnist for Town Hall, is for Trump and is
obviously happy he will be President, the one thing she is totally against is millenials and the fact
that they are going to be able to continuously be on their parent s insurance plan until 26. She uses
humor, sarcasm, and evidenceto prove a point in this article that preserving this plan is harming
society instead of helping it. Throughout the entire article, her voice was very strong and evident
on how she felt about this topic. She explains her points well by using strong language. Malkin
also uses a lot of dry, sarcastic humor, to really drive her points across. For example, when
mentioning the maximum age children can be before getting kicked off... Show more content on

I agree that in general, we are more lazy and are a tad hypocritical. Thinking that just because
you don t have to work since you are under 26 and quit your job to do more meaningful things,
that is not necessarily considered a good, productive thing. But being one, a millennial that is, I
also see the other side of the argument. I believe that we can be the most productive when we
are passionate about something and the idea that non millennials have little to no faith in what
we can accomplish has a very negative outcome in what we then actually do. We are very proud
of who we are for the most part, and that may just be part of our generation s view on how life
works, but generalizing every single child under 26 or 31 to say that they are not the most
motivated and all we want is free stuff and to not have to work is not true. If I were to do a
study, I bet it would show that they are only happy to still be apart of their parent s plans
because they are broke and what is most likely the main reason they are broke? They are college
students who are trying to pay for continuing their education so they can further use talents to help
the economy all the while taking disses from the older generation saying how we are so lazy and
only want free stuff. Times change, and along with change, there needs to be adaptations. I do not
know enough to say what the mandates should or should not be, but I do not think that stereotyping
us is not going to

Essay about Mentorship In Louise Erdrich s Tracks
Mentorship: From Childhood to the Man
Louise Erdrich explores the inner conflicts of an Indian tribe in her novel Tracks. By the end of
the novel, the tribes accord is broken by the lure of the white man s money and land reform. The
divisions among the tribe are epitomized by the physical separation of the Chippewa people into
different colors that correspond to their different land allotments. However, one chapter in
particular contrasts with the tribe s tendency towards discord. Chapter 5, in which Nanapush and
Eli overcome their differences and unite in an attempt to avoid starvation lends hope to the ominous
series of events throughout Tracks which show conflict developing from unity. The great snow
storm they experience together not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that the interpretation here is very strong because Nanapush is going through his own
personal struggles from within that he now has a decision to make. Does he write Eli off and
deal with his own issues or does he put his own issues aside and deal with Eli? Instead of the
typical either or, he incorporated the two issues. He addressed the issue of land ownership and
illiteracy amongst the people of the tribe to Eli, as well as helping him the concept that Fleur wasn
t going to stop living her life because he wasn t around in her life anymore either.
But Eli still didn t bounce back to reality just yet, there were still more lessons to be learned. For
instance, coming over to another man s house as a visitor and eating up all of his food. The book
records that 6 days later that they were without food. And Nanapush new that first in order to
survive, one must have nutritional food. Nanapush wasn t going to sit there and starve to death
because of one man agony. He believed it was time for Eli to face his adversities head on, and
deal with consequences at they followed. This is a wonderful part in the story because we see that
Nanapush is fed up.
On the seventh day I handed him his gun. He looked at it in surprise, but finally went north. (P.100

Within this moment, Eli realized that wallowing in agony, pity, and shame wouldn t put food on
the table. It wasn t going to solve any of his problems. And by recognizing this he was able to clear

Advantages Of The Jury System
The jury system of a trial is an essential element of the democratic process. Some people think
that the American jury system is not a good thing because you are going off other peoples
opinions, on the other hand people think it is a good thing because they say that is a fair way to
make a decision in court. A jurygroup is a group of citizens which hears the testimony in legal
disputes and determines what it believes is the truth. In court, we settle criminal law, and civil law
cases with jury members to help. I personally think that the American jury system is still a good and
helpful thing to use.
One reason why I think the jury system is still a good thing to use during a court case is that,
normal citizens get called to a trial, decide on a case, and try to persuade the judge about whether
or not the defendant is guilty or innocent. Another good thing is that none of the reasoning is
biased, which means all of the facts/reasoning the jury members are giving isn t opinionated.
People that have observed jury systems say that it has remarked the ability to help ordinary
citizens into self governors and get involved in civic participation. The trial by jury process puts
the people in control. The people have ultimate control in the legislative and executive branches.
(Doc C)
In some cases, the jury system being what they use can be debatable. I think it is always what you
should use to determine if the defendant is guilty or innocent during a trial. The jury system

A Study On Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
The summer of 2010, my sister was diagnosed with a tumor the size of a walnut pressing on the
frontal lobe of her brain. With a hopeful prognosis of slow growth and surgery scheduled in late
fall, the outlook was promising. When she went in for surgery the doctors found a lesion instead
of the tumor they had diagnosed her with. The seemingly positive news turned dark as they
explained they d need to biopsy the tissue to understand what had caused it. In the middle of my
second fall semester at Edmonds Community College, my sister underwent endless scans and
tests. When she began experiencing severe migraines, aural hallucinations, seizures, and severe
mood destabilization, I drove to as many of her appointments in Seattle as I could and spent
weekends with her where she lived with my mother in Centralia. Though we avoided discussing
her condition, I couldn t stop imagining the potential fatal outcome. Previously diagnosed with
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, they advised my sister to start an aggressive treatment
approach as her O.C.D. was possibly a result of a lesion and their growth would aggravate the
disorder. The doctors expected lesion growth and possible appearance of more lesions over time
alongside a decline in her cognitive function. Neither my sister nor I handled this news well.
While her decline was sharp and her depression set in quickly, I struggled with making it to class
and completing my assignments. Each day I pushed myself to be present and

Thesis: The Japanese aesthetics of irregularity and simplicity manifest in the artistic creations in

This idea fosters love for creating and exploring and discovering new methods of art. The art is
elegant unpretentious and yet highly complex. The accidental beauties of calligraphy are the
puzzle pieces to the artist s soul. The viewer identifies the differences in the art and recognizes the
parts of the artists. Each complex irregularity is a complex characteristic of the artist. The
irregularities of calligraphy are complex yet the art is simple. The paradoxical art of simplicity and
complexity centers itself to communicate the self expression of the artist.
Paragraph2: Calligraphy Simplicity
Starting with the simple structure of a brush, and a hand made paper, a calligrapher can create
anything he or she desires. The Japanese atheistic of simplicity is present within the tools. Each

Where The Red Fern Grows Character Analysis
There is a saying, a dog is a man s best friend . In the book Where The Red Fern Grows,by Wilson
Rawls, Billy Coleman is a young boy who wants nothing other than two Redbone coonhounds and
to hunt in the Ozark Mountains with them. Through his determination, he works up money buy the
pups, but he is faced with many struggles along the road. His determination, the will power and
strong heart to make it through the struggles, made him the boyhe is now. Over all, Billy Coleman
and his dogs face many conflicts throughout the book, but he stays determined to make it
through. One of Billy s biggest conflicts is when his dogs tree a coon in a very large tree. Bill
knows this tree as the big tree , the one that is impossible to climb let alone cut down. As said on
pg 78 of Where The Red Fern Grows, I know he s there, I said, but there s nothing I can do. I can t
climb it. Why it s sixty feet up to the first limb and it would take me a month to cut it down.
(Rawls) Billy struggles with being able to climb the tree because he feels that he will not be able
to because it is so high up. Also, he knows that it would be super hard to cut the tree down. Though
he struggles he pulls through and is determined to get the coon. Gritting my teeth...I don t care how
big you are, I m not going to let my dogs down...I m going to cut you down. I don t care if it takes
me a whole year. (Rawls 78) Billy knows that it is going to be a hard task, but he is determined to

The Civil Argument Of Epistemology
For decades, there has been an open deliberation over whether knowledge is intrinsic or if it
springs itself from life experiences: the civil argument of epistemology. Epistemology is the
investigation of knowledge and its techniques and legitimacy. Individuals from philosophers to
scientists to psychologists have argued their perspectives, yet even today the contention is not yet
settled. Personally, I believe that it bodes well for knowledge to originate from experiences. Three
philosophers that are solid proponents for the belief that knowledge is derived from experiences are
Gaston Bachelard, Immanuel Kant, and John Locke. One of the great epistemologists was Gaston
Bachelard who was more commonly known as a philosopher of science. ... Show more content on

Kant concurred with empiricists that concepts without perceptions are empty (lonestar). He
acknowledged that concepts and ideas cannot constitute knowledge alone and that innate ideas
do not constitute knowledge at all. This brought about his conviction that there must be
experience(s) in life for there to be knowledge. His theory was that there are two sorts of
reasoning to acquire knowledge: posteriori reasoning and priori reasoning. The posteriori
reasoning depends upon experience in the world that provides us with information. For
example, if I said that Barack Obama was the president of the United States in 2010, I would
only know that this is true through experience; I would not be able to determine this through an
analysis of the concepts of president or Barack Obama. In contrast, a priori reasoning does not
rely on experience to inform it, but to create the knowledge. Kant believed that with priori
reasoning, the dynamic mind relates and understands experiences in terms of causes and effects
where an event takes place and causes an experience to happen with the effect of knowledge being
gained. Kant s crucial insight here is to argue that experience of a world as we have it is only
conceivable if the psyche provides an efficient organizing of its representations; the mind makes
deductions prior to experiences, but can only truly experience something in the event that it obtains
knowledge from the

Who Is Crazy In A Midsummer Night s Dream
In William Shakespeare s play, A Midsummer Night s Dream there is Makeups,Breakups and Love.
The characters go through a roller coaster of emotions throughout the play. Many emotions of the
characters are made confusing by the king of fairies Oberon and his servant Puck/Robin. The
drama throughout the play creates many problems for the characters. One of those characters is
Helena, she shows that loveis crazy when she talks to Hermia, gives Demetrius permission to beat
her and when she talks to Demetrius in the woods. In the beginning of the play Helena is
introduced with being in love with Demetrius. The audience knows from the text that Demetrius is
in love with Hermia. While talking with Hermia, Helena says, The more I love, the more he hateth
me (Shakespeare 199). Helena is talking about Demetrius in this instance. She is saying that the
more she loves him the more he hates her. This is the first introduction of the theme that love is

This is where Oberon sends Puck to put the love potion on Demetrius s eyes. Oberon gives Puck a
very vague description of who he is supposed to put the love potion on. Puck ends up putting the

person sees first they will fall in love with. Lysander and Demetrius both happen to see Helena
first when they wake up, so they both fall in love with her. Helena thinks they are playing a joke
on her and doesn t believe what they are saying. Hermia comes into the mix and Helena thinks
she is joking with her too. While talking to Hermia, Helena says, Wherefore speaks he this, To
her he hates? (Shakespeare 230 231). In this line Helena is saying, Why would he speak to me
like this if he hates me? She is referring to when Demetrius was calling her beautiful and a
goddess. This shows how love is crazy, because it started with Demetrius hating her to now being in

Infertility is reported to affect one in every six couples...
Infertility is reported to affect one in every six couples in Ireland (CAHR, 2005). Others advise
that infertility effects one in every five couples (Murphy, 2008). Considering this high percentage
rate of people affected by infertility in Ireland one would think that there would be a great level of
public awareness about the condition and appropriate support services in place to support this
vulnerable client group. Unfortunately this is not the case. While there has no doubt been
substantial advances and developments in the medical field with regard to treating infertility
through assisted reproductive technologies (ART) which is a welcomed development for those

the same as the cancer, cardiac rehabilitation and hypertension patients but lower scores than those
presented by the women with chronic pain and those who had a diagnosis of HIV (Domar et al.
1993:45). The level of anxiety and depression amongst the infertile participants was parallel to the
findings noted from all other groups except from the chronic pain patients (Domar et al. 1993:45).
This study clearly validates an association between the psychological symptoms associated with
infertility and those associated with other serious medical conditions. The authors advocate that
psychosocial interventions for serious medical illness should be adapted and offered to those
diagnosed with infertility and undergoing fertility treatment (Domar et al. 1993:45). Cwikel et al.
(2004:126) states that infertility treatments, medical monitoring, hormonal remedies and IVF have
a strong physical and emotional effect on women and their partners . Research conducted by Greil,

Legalizing Marijuana In Canada Research Paper
Marijuana Here We Come! Should marijuana be legalized? Marijuana, also known as cannabis, is
currently an illegal recreational herb or substance in Canada with some exceptions to government
authorized dispensaries for medical use. Legalization means its legal but with regulations in place.
Cigarettes are legal but have many regulations on how they are made, how they are packaged, how
they are sold and even used. Legalization of marijuana ensures regulations are put in place for the
wellbeing of all Canadians. There are many benefits to legalizing marijuana such as making the
substance less accessible to minors, increase taxation revenues, and lowering criminal activity.
Marijuana should be legalized because it will help prevent minors from easily accessing marijuana.
Legalization places restrictions on who can purchase and use the marijuana through authorized
marijuana dispensaries. Authorized marijuana dispensaries makes it easier for non minors to access
marijuana taking away... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cost of production is higher, authorized marijuana dispensaries hold higher costs, and the
government adds taxes. As long as illegal sources can sell comparative products at lower prices,
there is still a market for illegally grown and sold marijuana. If there is still a market for illegal
marijuana then there is still sources available for minors to purchase marijuana, sales taxes not
be collected, and criminal activity still be conducted. The only way for all these benefits to fully
be beneficial is for the prices of legalized marijuana to be equal or less than the price of Marijuana
sold illegally. In conclusion, marijuana should be legalized because there are potential benefits
such as making the substance less accessible to minors, increase taxation revenues, and lowering

Behavior Change Theories and Models
Week 1 Assignment
HCA 331: Introduction to Health Care Education
Instructor: Debra Storlie
September 23, 2013
In order for health education to be successful, it is imperative to fully understand how behavior can
change in an instant. Health education depends on using the proper theories and models. This paper
will address the theories and models used in health education, the importance of the theories, as
well as real world examples and information from models used in health education. To understand
why it is important to use theories, one must first understand the difference between theories and
models. While theories are a set of interrelated concepts and definitions and propositions used to
present a systematic view of events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Health belief model provides useful framework for investigating predictors of condom use
behaviors among high risk adolescents, whether male or female. For the precaution adoption
process, a real world application is eating healthy and exercising to control weight. While an
individual may be well aware that he/she has an unhealthy diet, they may lack the motivation to
make the necessary changes. Motivation is vital if the precaution adoption model is to be
successful. A cross sectional survey among 979 non obese adults, aged 25 35 years, was
conducted. Perceived behavioral control was lowest among people who had decided to prevent
weight gain, only 85% surveyed intended to prevent weight gain (Wammes, Kremers, Breedveld,
amp; Brug, 2013). Acknowledging there is a risk, or potential for risk is great but without
motivation the problem/risk will persist and likely get out of hand. The similarities found in all the
models is that they are all centered around individuals and their choices and decisions on whether
or not to make the best of their choices. A healthy lifestyle is a choice each individual must make
for their self, choices that health educators are required to inform their clients of. Health educators
must know about the theories and models used in health education so they will properly be
educated themselves in order to help their clients to a healthy lifestyle. Theories and models

Preliminary Hearing Research Paper
After an individual has been arrested and accused of committing a crime, he or she will face
arraignment, where he or she will enter a plea of guilty, no contest, or not guilty. Should the
individual enter a plea of not guilty, the court must decide whether to proceed with the case. This
process to determine whether a case should proceed to trial is called the preliminary hearing. The
preliminary hearing is often referred to as the trial before the trial, because it works much like a
regular criminal trial does. During a preliminary hearing, an accused individual and his or her
lawyer will present the defendant s case along with any evidence and witnesses that are available.

Reaction Paper On Feminism
Introduction
Maya Angelou once said I m a feminist. I ve been a female for a long time now. I d be stupid not to
be on my own side. Almost all of us have probably been or known someone who has been a victim
of sexism or gender discrimination in some way.
Problem
Gender discrimination has been a battle for women for many years and although progress has been
made, it still exists today.
BACKGROUND
Feminism originally didn t begin as an agenda for gender equality. It started from topics such as
education, pornography, and race to name a few. Below I will discuss a few defining moments that
will hopefully help to understand the history of feminism as well as the ideas and people behind it.
SUFFRAGE MOVEMENT
Anti slavery movements started the first movements of feminism in the mid 1800 s. In 1840,
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott were not allowed to sit at the World Anti Slavery
Convention in London because they were female so they organized the Seneca Falls Convention in
1848. The Declaration of Sentiments, written by Stanton, talked about the need for equality among
men and women, including voting rights. From there, the suffrage movement progressed.
(Weatherford, 2000)
Suffragettes fought for women s right to vote, but feminism included more than that. It included
legal rights, financial independence and the relationship between men and women. After the
ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which granted women voting rights, feminism
changed. (Langley

  • 2. The Gap Between Whites And Blacks while the gap between whites and collective blacks does not shrink. The authors argue that in group versus out group hostilities will lessen between the whites and honorary whites, however this will only increase their in group size compared to the out group of the collective blacks and only create new tensions while strengthening old ones between these two groups. This will be because the collective blacks will feel more segregated from their lighter skinned counterparts. This type of grouping will only allot the whites more power as honorary whites participation within social society will rely solely on their whitesuperiors for their approval. Maxine Leeds Craig argued in The Colors of an Ideal Negro Beauty Queen, that one way to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ludwig also writes that white is monochromatic, which relates to racial intermixing and the idea of white purity or eugenics because once a wholly white European has sex with someone who is not, then their child s dominant white genes are saturated with others gene types, thus believed to taint their purity and dub them less white and less valuable. This is the same with other skin colors that may purposely mate with someone who possesses milky, white skin in order to perpetuate this idealized characteristic in their child, because the own dismay for their own skin color, precedent by the colorism fluxes in society, is influential because parents do not want their child to go through the social maltreatment they endured. Another reason for the overemphasis on the importance of whiteness may be its relationship to light, as white is strictly opaque, lacking dimensions unlike its colorful counterparts whose dimensions compare to their prejudicial past and present in which they suffer from discrimination and bigotry by its white Supremes. This differs from black because other in between colors like red, green, and blue all make variations of black when combined at different levels, which is representative of the forgotten races of Asians, Native Americans, Latinos, etc. When this occurs, even if the resulting color is a lighter shade, it is still related to ... There are many factors that contribute to making North Carolina attractive to people all across the world, including affordability, strong housing market, quality of life, and global access. First time home buyers who are eying real estatein North Carolina should consider Durham real estate as a place to purchase their new home. Why Consider Durham, North Carolina? Durham is one of the major cities in the Piedmont of North Carolina that constitutes the Research Triangle. The Research Triangle is home to many Fortune 500 companies that are high tech or research based. As a result of easy access to jobs, residents within Durham have incomes that are higher than the ... With a strong job market, a first time home buyer can rest assured that the chances of them keeping their homes without defaulting on the loan is high. In particular, foreclosure rates have remained the same in Durham compared to last year, at only one percent. With average home prices increasing and more people coming to Durham, an unchanged foreclosure rate speaks to the strength of Durham s economy. Homes Continue to Appreciate Another reason the Durham real estate market is so attractive to potential homeowners is the fact that they can watch their investment grown in no time. Home appreciations within the area have been impressive for a few years, and homeowners continue to reap the rewards. As a result, the number of closed sales continues to increase. Over 250 homes were sold in the month of November in Durham County, an increase of two percent overall. In the same time span, a neighboring county and home of the capital city Raleigh realized a drop in home closes of over two percent. Interest Rates Are Expected to Increase within Three ... • 5. Essay On Foster Home Theory There are many cold cases out there, and many families are still out there waiting for justice. An article titled, America s Unknown Child, written by multiple concerned citizens, is one of these cases. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 25, 1957, A boy commonly called America s Unknown Child was found. His identity has never been discovered and the case remains unsolved. No substantial evidence has been found, but there are a few theories. The most compelling theory is about the foster home, because of the location of the body, the evidence, and the interviews. The Boy in the Box is the name given to an unidentified murder victim, 3 to 6 years old, whose naked, battered body was found in a cardboard box in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 25, 1957. There are many theories in this case, but the most convincing is the foster home theory. This theory concerns a foster home that was located approximately 1.5 miles from the site of the body. In 1960, Remington Bristow, an employee of the medical examiner s office who pursued the case until his death in 1993, contacted a New Jersey psychic, who told him to look for a house that matched the foster home. When the psychic was brought to the Philadelphia discovery site, she led Bristow directly to the foster home.Upon attending an estate sale at the foster home, Bristow discovered blankets hanging on the clothesline that were similar to the one in which the boy s body had been wrapped. ... • 12. Economic, Technological, And Social Aspects Of Ocean... Economic, Technological, and Social Aspects of Ocean Acidification Natasha Pirani November 29, 2014 ENVP 500 Developing a Sustainability Perspective Dr. Liza Ireland Ocean acidification is the decrease in the acidity levels of the Earth s oceans, caused by the intake of carbon dioxide emitted in to the environment and atmosphere. Since the industrial revolution, fossil fuel powered machines have increased human technology and advancement. However, this has caused the emissions, large amounts of carbon dioxide, deforestation, and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Ocean acidification, in turn, has created a benefit to us by slowing down climate change by absorbing the emissions in the water that have remained in the air. However, studies are now starting to show that the massive amounts of carbon dioxide in the water bodies are altering the water chemistry and affecting the biodiversity and life cycles of many marine organisms, especially those at the lower end of the food chain. Other organisms living off the food chain would be part of a symbiotic relationship involving nutrient cycling: where all other organisms are feeding off of the larger one, yet are providing some benefit to the overall host. Washington State is sensitive to the impacts of ocean acidification because of its location and oceanography. Some regional factors include, upwelling, hypoxia, nitrogen oxides /sulfur oxides, and watershed inputs of nutrients, (Blue Ribbon Panel, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My eyes were drawn to her even in scenes where her character was the primary focus. She added plenty of subtle touches to convey how scummy her character truly was. If you paid close attention, she could be seen spitting in her customers food and stealing. It was a lot of fun to watch her in the background and look for these easter eggs . She fully embodied the character and even sang in a nasally voice to give the extra touch of cringe to her role. I would imagine a particular challenge for her was portraying a character so much older than she is. This production was done entirely by students in elementary, middle, and high school. As a high schooler, it must have been very difficult for her to portray a middle aged woman; however, she pulled it off phenomenally by conveying such a raunchy, bitter, trashy aura in her character. A particular scene where Nelson s performance stood out to me was at the wedding of Cosette and Marius. Weather elements such as wind, rain and even the UV rays from the sun cause signs of wear to show up on the roof. When is it time not to repair a roof, but to replace it? • 15. Utilitarianism And Pleasure In video 2, Sandel discuss the issue of whether there are values to everything, some believe that not everything have a price while some believe that there has to be a value for everything in order for people to decide which lead to more happiness. Then on part 2 he further discusses that whether there are distinction between higher pleasure and lower pleasure? This issue started with the discussion of utilitarianismwho was founded by Jeremy Bentham. Jeremy Bentham believe that the greatest good is for an individual or a politician is to maximize the community s happiness, therefore before making policy, law or even saying what is just or not, the individual and politician should consider comparing the cost and benefit to maximize happiness.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on Jeremy Bentham, he believe that we can measure pleasure, The magnitude of a pleasure is the duration multiplied by the intensity of the pleasure. (Archie, 1). Therefore the highest pleasure is simply just pleasure that give you the strongest intensity and longest duration. Bentham also said in one of his famous quote quantity of pleasure being equal, pushpin is as good as poetry. In my opinion what Bentham is trying to say is that whatever things we choose to do is the higher pleasure, quality doesn t matter, but the quantity is important. However, John Stuart Mill disagree with Bentham. He believe that quality of pleasure is important Mill himself presents the claim that mental pleasures are better than physical to be because humans prefer to exist in a way that engages their higher faculties (Mill 56). We are unwilling to sink low due to our dignity as humans (Mill 57). We are not swine, to be satisfied with the pleasure of pigs. (Bhardwaj, 5). Mill believe that reading a book is higher pleasure than playing video games and to know that, human need education. But, he also noted that sometimes people chooses lower pleasure over the higher pleasure but the fact is, deep down in their mind the other choices are still a higher pleasure. In my opinion, I believe in Jeremy Bentham s way of measuring pleasure, because I believe that whatever we chooses to do is the one with a higher pleasure. For example, reading Shakespeare or sitting at home playing video games, many people would choose to play video game rather than Shakespeare because most people would feel that video give out most pleasure but Shakespeare would give people a headache rather than ... After exerting our energy from walking around the mall, we stopped for a late lunch, before watching a movie together, and headed back home. As I manage to calm myself, allowing my thoughts to run clearer, I realise the stupidity of spending the evening with John, enduring his lingering stares, considering I m far from ready to attempt a relationship with anyone right now, what with my wretched heart set on Angelo. Inside my bedroom, I remove my winter accessories and leather coat, tossing them on the bed beside my bag and phone, and peer into my washing basket. • 17. Similarities Between European And Asian Films The Grittier Hero The Western has traditionally been thought of as an American entity. Forging the west and its frontier is what the nation sees as its identity. There are other versions of the this traditionally American story. Countries outside the nation intrigued by the genre have taken the Western to other levels and depicted the characters in a different light. European and Asian films have a divergent perspective of the traditional lone man that comes to save the day. Films such as The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,by Sergio Leone, Seven Samurai, by Akira Kurosawa created men that were not the America type of western men. These new interpretations were men that are clearly not good nor truly evil, but blurred. These films have main characters, whether alone or in groups that are closer to the antagonists in the films. Other countries viewed Western heroes as selfish and individualistic, grittier, and in opposite of the white American hero. Typically in the American version of the Western, the hero does usually have a jaded past, however, like characters in the Virginian and John Ford films with John Wayne, the main protagonist is humble and down to earth. Beginning in the 1960s, western films reflected the Vietnam conflict and its increasing ambiguities, leading up to a crisis of public myth (Cawelti 145). Film as a whole reflected the change in the hero s identity. In the film The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Leone made the character of Blondie , played ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Robert Atkin Diet Research Claims: The Atkin s diet is a low carbohydrate food regimen that requires the dieter to strictly limit their intake of all carbohydrates such as starches and sugars. Limiting the body s consumption of carbohydrates insures that the body is not able to convert excess glucose into fat. As a stated benefit, the diet also claims that the reduced intake of sugars and starches will keep your blood levels from dipping. This will help increase alertness while avoiding energy crashes. The danger occurs when a person who has a normal intake of carbohydrates begins the diet, this could eventually lead to a carbohydrate deficiency. The human body requires carbohydrates in the process of glycolysis (White B. 2000), in which ATP is produced. During periods of starvation, the bodies enters ketosis, where fat is used as a substitute for glucose. However, this process does not yield nearly as much energy as glycolysis and leads to the production of ketones. Under what circumstances do AM have the advantage and under what would CNC? Materials CNC machining it works particularly well for hard, relatively brittle materials like steels and other metal alloys to produce high accuracy parts with well defined properties and normally be more homogeneous and predictable in quality. AM parts, in contrast, may have voids or anisotropy that are a function of part orientation, process parameters or how the design was input to the machine. Certain parts cannot be fabricated by CNC unless they are broken up into components and reassembled at a later stage. Consider, for example, the possibility of machining a ship inside a bottle. Most likely you would machine both elements separately and work out a way to combine them together as an assembly and/or joining process. With AM you can build the ship and the bottle all at once. An expert in machining must analyze each part prior to it being built to ensure that it can be built and to determine what methods need to be used. While it is still possible that some parts cannot be built with AM, the most likely is much lower and there are generally ways in which this may be overcome without too much difficulty. Accuracy AM machines generally operate with a resolution of a few tens of microns. It is common for AM machines to also have different resolution along different orthogonal axes. The vertical build axis corresponds to layer thickness and this would be of a lower resolution compared with the two axes in the build plane. Accuracy in the build plane is determined by the positioning of the build mechanism, which will normally involve gearboxes and motors. This mechanism may also determine the minimum feature size as well. The accuracy of CNC machines is mainly determined by a similar positioning resolution along all three orthogonal axes and by the diameter of the rotary cutting tools. There are factors that ... • 22. Criticisms Of The Distributive Model In Social Justice Wadood, Jaleel AfroAm 188A Sem 3 Spring 2017 Professor Rogers May 26, 2017 Criticisms of the Distributive Model in Social Justice Iris Marion Young takes on a strong position surrounding the notion of a distributive model within the realm of social justice in Justice and The Politics of Difference. She does not believe the distributive model truly encompasses the issues within social justice, but rather limits social justice to the fair and just distribution of advantage and strain amongst the members of society. The distributive model fails to acknowledge the process that limits the distribution of human rights to society s members, thus lacking the means to evoke change. Young takes on a position that focuses on the process of domination and oppression within society and how that should be the primary focus when trying to understand social justice. The distributive paradigm or model that Young refers to in her book defines social justice as the morally proper distribution of benefits and burdens among society s members (Young 16). In that regard, social justice is being viewed as the distribution of material goods, resources, and other means of economic advancement. Social justice is much broader and goes far deeper than simply defining who gets what. While the distribution of resources, wealth, and material goods is an important factor when thinking about social justice, it should not be the center of discussion. The distribution of such things comes first from the initiation of a social system that defined who was worthy of receiving resources in life. To think that social justice is solely about the distribution of wealthy possessions, ignores the fact that there are social structures that have been put into place in order to control the distribution. In a sense, the distributive model only acknowledges the effects of the issue and not the cause. By only focusing on the distribution of wealth, resources, income, and jobs in society, the distributive model leaves out the way social constructions of race and class have allocated the distribution of such possessions. There are institutions within society that are controlling the distribution of various material things in society, and have been put in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The current food system is primary driven by commodity rather than what people in communities want or need. In other words, because of globalization the food system provides customers with goods without asking the needs and want of the people. For instance, many cities in the United States have been exposed to food insecurities that result in food deserts. In most cases, an area can be catagorized as a food desert because they do not have the right type of food environment. Last year, I started my research on food deserts in Baltimore. In order to identify the root of the problem, I studied the historical cause of food deserts as well as systematic and economical factors that left only certain community members marginalized. As I started to find feasible solutions for food deserts, I looked into alternative food systems as a way of fighting against the lack of access to healthy and affordable produces. In my research, I specifically focused a local food system such as farmers markets. But do we know what it means for a battery to be dead? Well, as the anode and cathode are connected to a circuit and a chemical reaction takes place between the anode and the electrolyte, the reaction causes electrons to race through the circuit and back into the cathode where another chemical reaction takes place. When the material in the cathode or anode gets to the point where it is consumed or no longer able to be used in the reaction, the battery is unable to produce electricity. At that point, your battery is officially considered dead (Hymel 2016). More recently, in 1980, an American physicist Professor John Goodenough invented the lithium battery. There he had the run of the place and was loved and pampered by all. Unfortunately, one of the judge s workers had a gambling problem and stole Buck to sell him for fifty dollars. While some are paved slowly and with love, blossoming to become something wonderful, others are blown apart the pieces scattered, never to be put back together again. Though these relationships vary, from professional to personal, they are all prone to encountering some form of conflict. She uses humor, sarcasm, and evidenceto prove a point in this article that preserving this plan is harming society instead of helping it. Throughout the entire article, her voice was very strong and evident on how she felt about this topic. She explains her points well by using strong language. But being one, a millennial that is, I also see the other side of the argument. I believe that we can be the most productive when we are passionate about something and the idea that non millennials have little to no faith in what we can accomplish has a very negative outcome in what we then actually do. We are very proud of who we are for the most part, and that may just be part of our generation s view on how life works, but generalizing every single child under 26 or 31 to say that they are not the most motivated and all we want is free stuff and to not have to work is not true. • 43. Advantages Of The Jury System The jury system of a trial is an essential element of the democratic process. Some people think that the American jury system is not a good thing because you are going off other peoples opinions, on the other hand people think it is a good thing because they say that is a fair way to make a decision in court. A jurygroup is a group of citizens which hears the testimony in legal disputes and determines what it believes is the truth. In court, we settle criminal law, and civil law cases with jury members to help. I personally think that the American jury system is still a good and helpful thing to use. One reason why I think the jury system is still a good thing to use during a court case is that, normal citizens get called to a trial, decide on a case, and try to persuade the judge about whether or not the defendant is guilty or innocent. Another good thing is that none of the reasoning is biased, which means all of the facts/reasoning the jury members are giving isn t opinionated. People that have observed jury systems say that it has remarked the ability to help ordinary citizens into self governors and get involved in civic participation. The trial by jury process puts the people in control. The people have ultimate control in the legislative and executive branches. (Doc C) In some cases, the jury system being what they use can be debatable. I think it is always what you should use to determine if the defendant is guilty or innocent during a trial. • 47. The Civil Argument Of Epistemology For decades, there has been an open deliberation over whether knowledge is intrinsic or if it springs itself from life experiences: the civil argument of epistemology. Epistemology is the investigation of knowledge and its techniques and legitimacy. Individuals from philosophers to scientists to psychologists have argued their perspectives, yet even today the contention is not yet settled. Personally, I believe that it bodes well for knowledge to originate from experiences. Three philosophers that are solid proponents for the belief that knowledge is derived from experiences are Gaston Bachelard, Immanuel Kant, and John Locke. One of the great epistemologists was Gaston Bachelard who was more commonly known as a philosopher of science. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kant concurred with empiricists that concepts without perceptions are empty (lonestar). He acknowledged that concepts and ideas cannot constitute knowledge alone and that innate ideas do not constitute knowledge at all. This brought about his conviction that there must be experience(s) in life for there to be knowledge. His theory was that there are two sorts of reasoning to acquire knowledge: posteriori reasoning and priori reasoning. The posteriori reasoning depends upon experience in the world that provides us with information. For example, if I said that Barack Obama was the president of the United States in 2010, I would only know that this is true through experience; I would not be able to determine this through an analysis of the concepts of president or Barack Obama. In contrast, a priori reasoning does not rely on experience to inform it, but to create the knowledge. Kant believed that with priori reasoning, the dynamic mind relates and understands experiences in terms of causes and effects where an event takes place and causes an experience to happen with the effect of knowledge being gained. Kant s crucial insight here is to argue that experience of a world as we have it is only conceivable if the psyche provides an efficient organizing of its representations; the mind makes deductions prior to experiences, but can only truly experience something in the event that it obtains knowledge from the ... For the precaution adoption process, a real world application is eating healthy and exercising to control weight. While an individual may be well aware that he/she has an unhealthy diet, they may lack the motivation to make the necessary changes. Motivation is vital if the precaution adoption model is to be successful. A cross sectional survey among 979 non obese adults, aged 25 35 years, was conducted. Perceived behavioral control was lowest among people who had decided to prevent weight gain, only 85% surveyed intended to prevent weight gain (Wammes, Kremers, Breedveld, amp; Brug, 2013). Problem Gender discrimination has been a battle for women for many years and although progress has been made, it still exists today. BACKGROUND Feminism originally didn t begin as an agenda for gender equality. It started from topics such as education, pornography, and race to name a few. Below I will discuss a few defining moments that will hopefully help to understand the history of feminism as well as the ideas and people behind it. SUFFRAGE MOVEMENT Anti slavery movements started the first movements of feminism in the mid 1800 s. In 1840, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott were not allowed to sit at the World Anti Slavery Convention in London because they were female so they organized the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848. The Declaration of Sentiments, written by Stanton, talked about the need for equality among men and women, including voting rights. From there, the suffrage movement progressed. (Weatherford, 2000) Suffragettes fought for women s right to vote, but feminism included more than that. It included legal rights, financial independence and the relationship between men and women.
