Titus Andronicus Research Paper
Titus Andronicus is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare in the 1590s, its structure consists
of five acts and fourteen scenes. Its major theme is revenge. The play explores the theme of
revenge by showcasing a cycle of revenge between the protagonist and antagonist of the play.
Titus s decision to sacrifice Tamora s son sparks her objective to seek revenge in which she
convinces her two sons to brutally rape and ravish Titus daughter, Lavinia, and also accuses two
of Titus s sons to be murderers which leads to their tragic death. Once Titus figures out the truth
about all of Tamora s horrid deeds, it becomes his objective to revenge Lavinia and his family, and
from there on the story becomes an even worse bloody nightmare. From beginning to end, the play
is filled... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If your heart is filled with vengeance and you are a fan of gruesome, bloody crimes, then this play
will fulfil all of your most disturbing fantasies. If you have a sensitive heart or a weak stomach,
Titus Andronicus is not for you, so you might want to reevaluate your choice. Maybe Romeo and
Juliet?
Acting:
In the Clarence Brown, 2016 live production of Titus Andronicus, the audience got to witness a
show filled with amazing actors which did an amazing job in telling the story of Titus. One
great aspect about this play is that it is very easily to detect the good characters from the bad
ones, so as an audience we have an expectation on the roles some of the actors are going to play.
It all begins with the Roman Empire having to choose new a leader, and it is up to Titus, one of
the greatest roman general, to decide who will take the throne next. In the first scene we see

Petroleum, The Most Valuable Commodities
Crude oil, also known as petroleum, is among the most valuable commodities in the world. It is
vital to many industries, accounting for just over thirty three percent of the world s energy supply.
Crude oil is a naturally occurring substance that can be refined into several products, including
diesel fuel, motor oil, and gasoline, among others. Though prices of crude oil in years passed were
typically high, they fluctuate daily in response to a host of factors, including world wide rates of
production and consumption, environmental issues, overall global economic health, and
sociopolitical developments in other nations that purchase oil. These are, furthermore, factors over
which neither government nor industry have control. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The potential changes that BP should have been scanning for include technological and
legislative changes, changes in the global economy, and changes in the physical environment. BP
should have been aware, for example of any changes or trends in technology. Successful
monitoring is then determined by a company s ability to accurately interpret the data collected
from scanning. In this example, if BP had detected a technological change or trend, it would be
important for them to have an understanding of exactly what the technology is and what it is
capable of. Next, the company must be able to project how the detected changes and trends will
impact business. A new technology could be a potential opportunity for BP or a threat if
implemented by a competitor. And finally, once the changes and trends have been identified, it is
important for the firm to determine the significance and timing of the event. With a change in
technology, BP would need to assess whether or not implementation would give them a
competitive advantage. The threat of new entrants to the industry in the context of the BP oil spill
was likely pretty low. Aside from the traditional challenges of entering an industry as a new
comer, new offshore leases were placed on hold, and a moratorium subsequently placed on
offshore drilling below 500 feet by the federal government. This would have deterred any new

Remember By James Rose Alternate Ending
James Rose carefully removed his silk blazer and then took the contents of his carefully tailored
trousers and laid them on a table in front of the person he was talking to. The first item he laid out
was his cell phone and then he proceeded to lay out a brand new pink ball gag, two pairs of
handcuffs, and a syringe which was followed by a pair of pliers so razor sharp they could remove a
finger at the bone and another pair of needle nose pliers that could remove a fingernail with a quick
jerk. Also in the room was a 5 gallon pail of water already full as well as a car battery with two
wires emanating from the positive and negative wires. You see James Rose was not a very nice

Case Study on a Three Year Old With Bronchiolitis
Introduction:
This paper will discuss a case study of Liam, a three month old boy who is transferred from the
General Practitioner (GP) to paediatric ward with bronchiolitis. Initially, Liam s chief health issues
will be identified, following by nursing assessment and diagnoses of the child s need. Focus will be
made on the management of two major health problems: respiratory distress and dehydration, and
summary and evaluation of the interventions with evidence of learning. Lastly, a conclusion of
author s self evaluation will be present.
Identification of specific key issues:
Liam is a previously healthy boy who has experienced rhinorrhoea, intermittent cough, and poor
feeding for the past four days. His positive result of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Blood gas analysis may be performed to determine if high concentration oxygen therapy is needed
(Bush Thomson, 2007). The management of fever would be a part of care plan when the infant is
febrile due to infection (Axton Fugate 2009).
It is also important to keep accurate record of Liam s fluid balance chart, and assess Liam s
capillary refill, skin turgor, fontanel condition and mucous membranes every shift, as they provide
information about the infant s hydration status (Axton Fugate 2009). Urine analysis may be
performed to provide information on hydration status and/or determine if Liam has urine tract
infection (UTI) (Axton Fugate 2009; Crisp, Taylor, Douglas, Rebeiro, 2013). Management of
dehydration would be one of nursing interventions if urine sample shows a high urine specific
gravity, and antibiotics would be administered if a bacterium is detected in the urine sample
(Axton Fugate 2009). Feeding ability should be assessed in order to determine the route of fluid
intake (i.e. oral, nasogastric or intravenous fluids) (PMH, 2013).
Rapid virological testing for RSV is recommended in order to guide isolation and allocate Liam
into cohorts in hospital (Fitzgerald, 2011).
Finally, the nurse may need to assess Liam s parents understanding of bronchiolitis in order to
determine what information that nurses need to provide, and

Questions will be out of order. How does measurements of SI help with business and commerce?
Companies need the exact amount and ingredients of what to put in their product. Such as a can of
soda. A can of soda normally contains 12 fluid ounces. 12 fluid ounces is approximately 354 grams.
These companies are using some sort of measurement system. We use something called imperial
system where as most countries use metric system. Governments don t want confusion to be
amongst them, so they only adopt on system of measurement. Why do scientists only prefer one
system of measurement? I think this is simply due to them not wanting to convert all their units
into a whole other dimension. Besides the fact that people are lazy. One interesting feature

Lady Brett Ashley in The Sun Also Rises Essay
Lady Brett Ashley was a very important character in the book The Sun Also Rises. She had it
all, she was pretty, and she had four guys ogling over her. Four guys!!!! She was independent,
she could do whatever she wanted. She was definitely not sympathetic however, nore would she
be a good role model for anyone because yes, she does treat her male friends cruelly. Lets start
with her relationships with the guys. She can basically get whatever she wants, they will do
anything for her, because they find her so attractive. Even if they want something in return, she
will be happy to give it to them, she has it all. However that is all she does, she moves from guyto
guy like she does not even care. Which by the way, she does not. Basically,... Show more content on

She was unlike anything they had ever seen or would ever get to see again. She was different, but
in a good way. She was one of them. Mike once compared her to circe, a character in a Greek myth
who lured in men and then she transformed them into animals. Brett just wants sex without love,
instead of the other way around like Jake.
Brett had good and bad qualities. She was not all bad. I personally would not pick her for a role
model but I will admit she had some admirable qualities. For example, the way she changed over
the course of the novel. At first she did not really care about anyone or anything but herself. Then
she began to realize what she did to people and she began to consider the feeling a of others as
well as her own. If her relationship with Pedro had occurred at the beginning of the novel, she
probably would have given no thought to what effects their relationship would have on him.
However, by the end of the novel she had gained the understanding to know that he should do
what is right, put away her own feelings, and leave him for his own good. She could be used as a
role model because of her liberty. She is never tied down, as if she is floating in the breeze,
aimlessly wandering from place to place. She does not conform. She does what she wants when
she wants and does not let other people tell her what to do. She is dependent on no one in the sense
that she does not care what others think. However, at the same time, she is

The Effects Of Immigration On The United States
Immigration can be defined as: the movement from one country to another country. Immigration
had two major impacts on the US: on the labor market and especially on the politics of race. The
black rebellions of the 1960s created a political crisis for the government of US on the adequate
response to black rebellions. Daniel Patrick Moynihan and President Johnson proposed two
different policies to resolve black poverty.
Moynihan s reason as to why black poverty exists is due to the pathology of African Americans.
He believes African Americans shouldn t demand for Affirmative Action. Moynihan s reason ties
into Goldfield s theories of impoverishment for poverty as pathology. Poverty as pathology states

The analysis of the African Americanculture is to be compared to the culture of Asian Americans.
The culture of Asian Americans is considered as the model minority. The term, model minority is a
minority group who are perceived to be successful compared to other minority groups. The culture
of African Americans consists of families who tolerate foolish behavior and whose standards are
not that high and strict. The culture of Asian Americans (families) is in contrast to the culture of
African Americans (families). The culture includes: providing a secure environment for children,
pushing children to work harder, foster savings, being disciplined and submissive, motivate and
discipline their children, establish a sense of obedience, promotes individualism, and the
development of Confucian ethic. The Asian Americanculture is a positive factor compared to the
African American culture (negative difference) towards African Americans. Moynihan must
incorporate the element of the race s culture in order to identify a solution to the poverty of the
particular race. Understanding the race is simply not content when it is necessary to come up
with solutions to poverty of a particular race. The opinion of Robert G. Lee s as to whether or not
Asian America Model Minority is true. Lee considers the Asian American model minority to be a
myth. This is because of not everyone is or was successful from the Asian American model

The Arab-Israeli Struggle During The 50 Years War
This documentary tells the story of the Arab Israeli struggle in the 50 Years War.
It begins by explaining conditions in Palestine at the end of World War 2 and the crisis created by
the exodus of European Jews who went to the Middle East after the Holocaust.
The withdrawal of the British who controlled Palestine for three decades is seen as the creation of
the states of Israel. The U.N s decision to partition Palestine in 1947 ensured
50 years of animosity, warfare, and negotiation. The film follows the development of the
Palestinian Liberation Organization as well as the Arabs struggle for statehood in 1948 and 1967.
After the U.N saw the migration of Jewish refugees fleeing Europe to return to their former

How Payment System All Over The World Has Experienced A...
INTRODUCTION
Payments system all over the world has experienced a period of dramatic change. Consumers,
businesses, and government are moving away from paper checks and towards electronic forms of
payment. Technological advances and competitive forces are fundamentally altering the payments
landscape, with important implications for efficiency, safety, and access.
A payment card is a device (embossed plastics) that enables its owner (the cardholder) to make a
payment by electronic funds transfer. This is the technology reduced the use of cash to purchase
goods and services. Payment card allows the cardholder to pay for goods and services based on the
holder s promise to pay for them. The most common types of payment cards are credit card and
debit cards. Payment cards are usually 85.60 Г— 53.98 mm in size, which complies with the ISO
/IEC 7810 ID 1 standard. They usually also have an embossed card number conforming with the
ISO/IEC 7812 numbering standard.
A payment card is mostly electronically linked to an account or accounts belonging to the
cardholder. These accounts could be deposit accounts, loan or credit accounts, and the card is a
means of authenticating the cardholder. The Wal Mart Visa/MasterCard honor all cards settlement
and the proposed First Data Concord EFS merger are just two examples of the dynamic forces at
work in this industry.
There are different types of payment cards. These are a credit card, debit card, charge card, ATM
card, Stored Vale card,

The Insanity Defense
The insanity defense, also known as the mental disorder defense, is a defense by excuse in
criminal trials arguing that the defendant is not responsible for their actions due to an episodic or
persistent psychiatric disease. ( Insanity defense, 2016)
In North Carolina we use The M Naghten Rule to determine insanity. Other states may also use:
The Irresistible Impulse Test, The Durham Rule and The American Law Institute s Model Penal
Code Test. (US Legal, 2001) The M Naghten Rule focuses on whether a criminal defendant knew
the nature of the crime or understood right from wrong at the time it was committed. This rule was
established by the English House of Lords in the mid 19th Century. Under this rule, the defendant is

All Art, Including Music, Is Directly Influenced By The
All art, including music, is directly influenced by the environment in which the artist lives. It is
impossible to create art in a vacuum, unaffected by the society and events surrounding you. The
time period, location, and social changes and innovations can have a direct effect on the art
produced. Political events, especially wars, can have a strong influence on the music and art
produced at that time. For example, music may become more patriotic during a time of war as the
composers strive to publicize their national pride. I will explore this idea through the composer Igor
Stravinskyand his three most famous ballets in terms of music and choreography. Since I have a

His wide range of locations creates an expansive social and political influence on his works and
their choreography. Similar to many famous composers, Stravinsky did not study music from the
time he was a small child, but studied law and philosophy at St Petersburg University (Taruskin,
White). Throughout the course of his life, Stravinsky composed almost 100 works, ranging in
genres. He began to be commissioned by the Ballet Russes in 1909 and by the following year was
asked by Serge Diaghilev to produce The Firebird (Taruskin, White). The Ballet Russes was a
Paris ballet company run by Serge Diaghilev that was known for its creative and inventive
performances. Many people did not like the Ballet Russes innovative style and chose to watch
classic ballet companies instead in order to continue the classical style that many believed ballet
should express. However, Diaghilev was determined to do something unique with his ballet
company and they made their performances extremely modern (Lockspeiser). The Firebird was
the work that set Stravinsky s career on fire, and allowed his name to become spoken with
respect and fame. It premiered at the Paris Opera on June 25, 1910. It may have been fate that this
commission was offered to Stravinsky because it is said that the Ballet Russes originally
commissioned another composer for this piece, but that his slow progress forced them to offer it to

In the past few decades, Christians have gradually and increasingly acknowledged that human
relationship to the natural world should be included in theology. However, this theology has still
enjoyed only limited development and acceptance (Cobb 82). Humanity needs to further its
understanding of itself as an integral constituent of creation, rather than seeing itself as above,
below or outside creation. According to the prophetic tradition of the Hebrew Bible, humanity is an
inextricable part of nature. In the Genesis creation story, God forms humans (adam) from humus
(adamah), making them true earth creatures (Guengerich 15). Because God created all things, all
things in the world are in relationship, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The norm of participation seeks to engage the entire human community in decisions that affect it,
which often requires dismantling the social, political and economic forces that prevent the full
participation of some (Martin Schramm 211). In the Old Testament, the law served as a model for
full participation, making clear that the land s bounty must be used for the welfare of all, including
widows, orphans and aliens (Kaufman 22). Jesus ministry to the outcast and marginalized also
made possible increased participation. He gave attention to Samaritans, women, the poor, the
despised and the diseased, drawing all people into the Reign of God.
Participation sees all forms of life and parts of creation as relevant to justice. Humans may have a
special relationship to God, but the Bible repeatedly describes all creation as intimately affected
by the interactions of God and humanity. The Hebrew scriptures are full of imagery like Hosea
4:1b 3:
There is no faithfulness or loyalty, and no knowledge of God in the land. Swearing, lying, and
murder, and stealing and adultery break out; bloodshed follows bloodshed. Therefore the land
mourns, and all who live in it languish; together with the wild animals and the birds of the air, even
the fish of the sea are perishing.
Humans and other creatures experience the pain together that comes from alienation from God.
Solidarity is the fourth norm of ecojustice, establishing the interdependence of all life forms and

Atheism Is Not A Religion, A Worldview Or A Belief System
There have been numerous debates between the religious and atheists, and all seem to end with
the same conclusion: neither side changed at all. Atheism is defined as the rejection of the God
hypothesis. Atheism is not a religion, a worldview or a belief system; they are just denying
religious claims that fail to provide evidence. Christians follow the teachings of Jesus Christ written
in the bible. They believe god created the earthin seven days and that he will soon send his son,
Jesus to earth to take the faithful to heaven. Deep analyzation of evolution, creationism, and the
bible will surely reveal the truth. Evolution, is basically decent with modification , this applies to
microevolution and macroevolution. (www.evolution.berkeley.edu) Evolution, when on a smaller
scale is defined as microevolution; an example would be the house sparrows. Depending on the
location the sparrows have different characteristics, some are larger and heavier to protect from
the cold while others are lighter to withstand heat. There is so much evidence for microevolution
it s almost impossible to deny. Microevolution is observable because of the short timespan
required for it to take place. The controversy begins when you get into macroevolution which is
evolution on a much bigger scale. Usually referring to a change in species, this cannot be observed
because it takes longer than one lifespan to detect. We are able to observe small modifications; it
should be common sense that over

Ethical Principles And Standards Of The Educational Research
Ethics must be applied at all stages of research, from planning to evaluation of the research project;
data collection methods as part of the investigative process must be guided by the ethical principles
and standards of the educational research. According to the American Educational Research
Association (2011), there are twenty two ethical standards, which were created to ensure the
validity, honesty, and reliability of all stages of the researchprocess. there are several examples of
the impact of ethical standards on data collection methods (Resnik, 2011):
Informed consent and public communication: to implement any of the data collection methods, the
researcher needs to explain in detail the pursues of the research, the characteristics of data collection
method that he or her intend to use, and finally he or her must obtained the authorization or
consent. To implement a survey, an interview, questionnaires, the researcher must ask for the verbal
consent. During the observation process or a document review a verbal consent will be enough, but
sometimes a writing consent might be necessary (Fremgen, 2011). These day technology is part of
our lives, telephone or online surveys are pretty common actually; in this case, the researcher must
ask for a verbal consent during the telephone survey, but he or her will need an electronic consent to

The Emergence Of The Film Industry
The emergence of the film industry was a momentous occasion for mass entertainment, and world
culture in general. For the first time in human history, visual experience could be shared and most
importantly sold to the general public. Cinema changed society as much as society influenced
cinema. Paramount amidst this radical change in entertainment was the American filmindustry:
Hollywood. The factors that contributed to Hollywood s socio economic and cultural influence
around the globe deeply relate to the socioeconomic and political situation of the world during the
early 20th century. In this essay, I will attempt to identify some of the issues that affected and were
affected by the rise of the film industry in the United States.

Hollywood was quick to capitalize on the popular appeal of particular actors, by publicizing their
stars as a certain type. This phenomenon gave rise to the typecasting of popular actors into the
same role. In this case, film only followed the previous example of traditional theater, where the
star power of famous actors would carry a production. The familiarity of audiences with actors
contributed to the popularity of Hollywood films both home and overseas.
First and foremost, Hollywood operated like the big businesses created at the beginning of the
20th century. Just as Henry Ford revolutionized the car industry by mass producing the Model T,
the studio system perfected the formula for massive hits. After a brief period of experimentation,
Hollywood figured out the elements that constituted an audience favorite; they then proceeded to
extract as much value as possible before audiences got exhausted of the repetitiveness. It must be
noted that Hollywood did not offer a plethora of identical pictures, but a model which could be
modified by directors, actors, and especially during this period producers. What the standardization
of narrative did produce, however, was a set of pre formed expectations that audiences carried to the
movie theater. Any deviation from those norms triggered a certain disappointment among the
movie going public or at least that was the

Their Eyes Were Watching Janie Analysis
The Impact of the Society and Class theme on Janie In accordance with the turbulent time period it
was written in, Their Eyes Were Watching God comments on many issues within the society of the
1930 s through various themes such as love, nature, and societal standards. However, the theme of
societal standards and expectations is perhaps the most prominent in the story, furthering the main
character Janie s development the most. In the book, despite the standards and rules imposed on her
by society, Janie learns to overcome them, thereby attaining happiness and an emotionally rich life.
As a mixed womanin the southern United States, Janie had always had rules and others
expectations thrust upon her, under the guise of either love or judgement. For example, although
Nanny intended for Janie to find security and eventual happiness through an arranged marriage
as a result of her own tragic life experiences, this backfired, as Janie was only acquired those at
forty, after two failed marriages. Her late second husband Joe Starks imposed societal rules on her,
often expressing how women should stay in the background of matters. After accepting his position
as mayor of Eatonville, Joe quickly took away Janie s attempt at making her own comments on the
matter by saying [t]hank yuh fuh yo compliments, but mah wife don t know nothin bout no speech
makin . Ah never married her for nothin lak dat. She s uh woman and her place is in de home.

School Uniform Controversy
There has always been a big controversy on whether schools should require students to wear
uniforms issued by the school. Some believe that students should have the freedom to wear
whatever they would like to express themselves. Others believe that students should wear uniforms
to reduce bullying and provide a look of success. Schools should be required to have students wear
uniforms.
One reason that schools should require students to wear school uniforms is because it would make
schools safer. The schools superintendent, Paula E. Howard, said the district turned to uniforms in
response to an after school fight last year that involved weapons concealed in loose clothing
(Article 2 18). Having clothing that you can pick can create an opportunity

Successful Aging Through Participatory Arts Programming...
80 is the new 40:
Successful Aging through Participatory Arts Programming for Older Adults
The United States is in the midst of a major demographic shift. People are living longer which
means that the population of older adults, those sixty years and over, is growing. It is projected
that by the year 2040, older adults will far outnumber school age children. Older adults are
currently healthier and lead more productive lives than ever before, due in part to modern medicine
and the new idea of seeing older people for their potential rather than their problems. This has
prompted the concept of creative aging or successful aging. This positive view of aging is not
new, only the terminology. Cicero, the Roman philosopher, is perhaps the first to introduce the
idea of good aging in his essay, On Old Agewhich was penned in the year 44 BC. He wrote this
essay in his early 60 s to show that old age is not a phase of decline and loss, and if approached
properly becomes a time for positive change and productive functioning (Baltes Baltes, 1990).
Over the last few decades the subject of successful aging has been the topic of a number of
scholarly articles and books and has recently been tied to participatory arts and humanities
programming through agencies that provide services to the older adult demographic. As public
libraries struggle to remain relevant in today s society and respond to the changing needs of older
adult patrons it is important to become more

Hohenzollern Research Paper
Although the history of the House of Hohenzollen dates back to the 11th century, I am more
intrigued with the more modern 1800 s and the rulers of that era. My paper is based on this and
includes two people whom I think were the most effective leaders within the royal family. The
house of Hohenzollern is said to be a noble family and royal dynasty of prince electors, kings and
emperors of Prussia, Germany, and Romania. Its origin is based from an area around the town of
Hechingen in Swabia during the eleventh century. The name was taken from their ancestral home
(the Burg Hohenzollern Castle). The family split into two groups, the Catholic Swabian branch and
the Protestant Franconian branch. Hechingen was ruled by the Swabian branch until their
extinction in 1869. The Franconian branch was comparatively more successful. Branches within the
Franconian branch ascended the throne of Margravate of Brandenburg in 1415 and of the Duchy
of Prussia in 1525. The union of these two Franconian branches, in 1618, allowed the creation of
the Kingdom of Prussia in 1701, the state which led the unification of Germany and the creation of
the German Empire in 1871.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Comparison of Two Therapeutic Approaches to Mental...
A Comparison of Two Therapeutic Approaches to Mental Disorders
The essence of the medical model is the view that abnormal behaviours like mental disorders result
from physical problems and should be treated medically, in other words; mental disorders resemble
physical diseases, in that they are both illness of the body. As a result, the medical approach would
argue that mental illness and therapeutic action should be taken from the medical perspective.
Whereas the psychodynamic approach concerning mental illness put forward by Freud was based
partly on his psychosexual development theory. In essence, the child passes through stages such as

Drugs have been used with some success to treat various disorders such as schizophrenia, anxiety,
and depression. The medical model argues for direct manipulation of the physiological system
within the body, and uses somatic therapy (a major part of which is drug therapy). Drug therapy has
been used in the treatment of several disorders, and has been used in the treatment of patients
suffering from major depression and schizophrenia. Neuroleptic drugs (drugs that reduce psychotic
symptoms but can also produce some of the symptoms of neurological diseases) are often used in
the treatment of schizophrenia. Common neuroleptic drugs include the phenothiazines, the
butyrophenones and the thioxanthenes as they reduce the positive symptoms of schizophrenia for
example delusions and hallucinations, but have little effect on the negative symptoms e.g. lack of
motivation and emotion and social withdrawal. The drugs used to treat schizophrenia have the great
advantage that schizophrenic patients no longer need to be restrained in straitjackets. However,
they have significant disadvantages. First, as we have seen, they have several unfortunates side
effects. Second, the drugs basically reduce symptoms, and cannot be regarded as providing a cure
for schizophrenia.
This is very unlike the psychodynamics approach to treating mental disorders; the psychodynamic

Sigmund Freud s Theory Of Psychology

This led Freud to write The Interpretation of Dreams.
When studying dreams, Freud found that dreams are very strange. I have found this also in my
lifetime. I have always been fascinated by dreams. As a kid I would wake up wanting to replay
my dream on a display screen. In the mornings, I would be so excited to explain what happened
in my dreams the night before to my family members. I wanted so badly for them to understand
how crazy they were, but most of the time they were too bizarre for them to understand so they
gave up listening. Unlike most of my friends and family my dreams were so vivid that I could
almost always remember them. In high school, I began to think that because my dreams were so
vivid, they had to mean something. I began trying to interpret my dreams. If there were a symbol
that stuck out in my dream all night, like a snake, I would try to look up the meaning. Or if there
were a certain act I was performing in my dream, like swimming in the ocean, I would look it up.
At first, I was looking up the meanings on dream interpretation websites. Then, I ended up getting
a book. Now I know that thanks to Freud, I am able to interpret my own dreams. I remember
specifically, my senior year of high school after my mom passed away, she would be in my
dreams. They were vivid memories of her and I, the dreams always felt so real. In the beginning
after her passing, I would have dreams consecutively with her in it. As months passed

Spirituality And Mysticism In Varanasi

The Important Aspects Of The Catholic Church
Elizabeth Stevinson
110 C
Catholicism is a world renowned faith and has expanded throughout history to become one of the
largest faiths known today. Two of the important aspects of the Catholic Church are the worship
rituals and the texts of the Sacred Scriptures. The worship rituals are important within the Catholic
church, because many rituals are used to Increase faith and to advance oneself to a higher state of
spiritual perfection. (Why The Rituals)
The sacraments are designed to build up the body of Christ and to worship God. It is also another
way to nourish and further strengthen our relationship with Christ as our lives progresses.
(Sacraments of the Catholic Church.)
Norton Herbst states in his article The term catholic comes from the Greek word katholikД“ which
means according to the whole or universal. The difference between (Protestantism and Catholicism).
The term was designated for the most accepted form of faith passed down from the first followers
of Christ. The worship rituals in the Catholic Church and the importance of the Scriptures make
Catholicism unique and help create something that has never been known.
The worship rituals in the Catholic Church include, mass, baptism, confession, anointing of the
sick, confirmation and Eucharist. The word mass is described as the source and summit of
Christian life. (The Eucharist: The source and summit of the Christian).
For centuries the Mass was celebrated almost all in Latin and was only based on

the sovereigntists see Quebec as a distinct society, which is distinct in its own right due to its
distinct culture and institutions. But as history has shown them, the Canadian federation has
undermined Quebecand its distinctness. The sovereigntists see this as setting Quebec on a path of
continued subjugation under Canadian federalism. Desiring to change the situation they are left
with two options, either be recognized and gain autonomy over there culture, or separate from the
union and gain autonomy in this way. Canadathen is a subjugator of Quebec and is different from
Quebec do having different culture and institutions. Furthermore, Canada refuses to recognize this
difference. Following from before then, Quebec must leave the union or continued to be subjugated.
Therefore, sovereigntists view Quebec as distinct unrecognized state, who has been historically
subjugated under Canada, and is on a path of continued subjugation, while they view Canada as
different from Quebec and as the subjugator of Quebec.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They understand that is distinct but its own definition is dependent upon Canada. To be a
Quebecor then is to also be a Canadian. Furthermore, Quebec`s history may be one of
subjugation, but to them it does not follow that this has created a path for the province. The
future is open to them, thus Quebec is able to progress and choose its own path. Finally, Quebec
has been recognized as being different, and as such Canada has accommodated the province. Thus,
federalists view Quebec as a distinct and recognized aspect of Canada, who is also an equal partner

Gulf Oil Corp
Gulf Oil Corp. Takeover
Summary of Facts o George Keller of the Standard Oil Company of California (Socal) is trying
to determine how much he wants to bid on Gulf Oil Corporation. Gulf will not consider bids
below $70 per share even though their last closing price per share was valued at $43. o Between
1978 and 1982, Gulf doubled its exploration and development expenses to increase their oil
reserves. In 1983, Gulf began reducing exploration expenditures considerably due to declining oil
prices as Gulf management repurchased 30 million of their 195 million shares outstanding. o The
Gulf Oil takeover was due to a recent takeover attempt by Boone Pickens, Jr. of Mesa Petroleum
Company. He and a group of investors had spent $638 million ... Show more content on

Production in 1983 was 290 million composite barrels, and this was assumed to be constant until
1991 when the remaining 283 million barrels are produced. o Production costs were held
constant relative to the production amount, including depreciation due to the unit of production
method currently used by Gulf (Production will be the same, so depreciation amount will be the
same) o Because Gulf uses the LIFO method to account for inventory, it is assumed that new
reserves are expensed the same year that they are discovered and all other exploratory costs,
including geological and geophysical costs are charged against income as incurred. o Since
there will be no more exploration going forward, the only expenses that will be considered are
the costs involved with production to deplete the reserves. o The price of oil was not expected to
rise in the next ten years, and since inflation affects both the selling price of oil and the cost of
production, it cancels itself out and was negated in the cash flow analysis. o Revenues minus
expenses determined the cash flows for years 1984 1991. The cash flows cease in 1991 after all
oil and gas reserves are liquidated. The cash flows derived account for the liquidation of the oil
and gas assets only, and do not account for liquidating other assets such as current assets or net
properties. The cash flows were then discounted by net present value using Gulf s cost of capital as
the discount rate. Total cash flows until

Cultural Beliefs In The Odyssey By Beowulf
In The Odyssey, the Cyclops symbolizes cultural values straying from the norm of society, while in
Beowulf, Grendel symbolizes the consequences of not conforming to those values.
In The Odyssey, Homer uses the Cyclops to encapsulate values which are considered abnormal
in everyday society. The beasts are culturally, politically and religiously detached from
civilization. Homer describes the one eyed beasts, They have no meeting place for council, no
laws either, no, up on the mountain peaks they live in arching caverns each a law to himself,
ruling his wives and children, not a care in the world for any neighbor (9.125 128) In ancient greek
society family and community were heavily valued, however it seems that each Cyclops wants
nothing to do with the others, revealing them as cultural outsiders who wouldn t be accepted among
humanity. Additionally, the brutes have no meeting place for council, no laws either. The Odyssey
was written in the 8th century BC, during the beginnings of Archaic Greece. City states were the
popular form of government and communal decision making started to gain value. In stark contrast
to this form of politics, the Cyclops made decisions for themselves, rarely communicating with
anyone but their own families. Their governmental actions stray far from the Greeks public
standards. Perhaps the largest difference between the Cyclops and any other Greek citizen though,
is their religious difference. The Cyclops boasts to Odysseus, We Cyclops

  • 2. Titus Andronicus Research Paper Titus Andronicus is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare in the 1590s, its structure consists of five acts and fourteen scenes. Its major theme is revenge. The play explores the theme of revenge by showcasing a cycle of revenge between the protagonist and antagonist of the play. Titus s decision to sacrifice Tamora s son sparks her objective to seek revenge in which she convinces her two sons to brutally rape and ravish Titus daughter, Lavinia, and also accuses two of Titus s sons to be murderers which leads to their tragic death. Once Titus figures out the truth about all of Tamora s horrid deeds, it becomes his objective to revenge Lavinia and his family, and from there on the story becomes an even worse bloody nightmare. If your heart is filled with vengeance and you are a fan of gruesome, bloody crimes, then this play will fulfil all of your most disturbing fantasies. If you have a sensitive heart or a weak stomach, Titus Andronicus is not for you, so you might want to reevaluate your choice. Maybe Romeo and Juliet? Acting: In the Clarence Brown, 2016 live production of Titus Andronicus, the audience got to witness a show filled with amazing actors which did an amazing job in telling the story of Titus. One great aspect about this play is that it is very easily to detect the good characters from the bad ones, so as an audience we have an expectation on the roles some of the actors are going to play. It all begins with the Roman Empire having to choose new a leader, and it is up to Titus, one of the greatest roman general, to decide who will take the throne next. It is vital to many industries, accounting for just over thirty three percent of the world s energy supply. Crude oil is a naturally occurring substance that can be refined into several products, including diesel fuel, motor oil, and gasoline, among others. Though prices of crude oil in years passed were typically high, they fluctuate daily in response to a host of factors, including world wide rates of production and consumption, environmental issues, overall global economic health, and sociopolitical developments in other nations that purchase oil. These are, furthermore, factors over which neither government nor industry have control. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The potential changes that BP should have been scanning for include technological and legislative changes, changes in the global economy, and changes in the physical environment. BP should have been aware, for example of any changes or trends in technology. Successful monitoring is then determined by a company s ability to accurately interpret the data collected from scanning. In this example, if BP had detected a technological change or trend, it would be important for them to have an understanding of exactly what the technology is and what it is capable of. Next, the company must be able to project how the detected changes and trends will impact business. A new technology could be a potential opportunity for BP or a threat if implemented by a competitor. And finally, once the changes and trends have been identified, it is important for the firm to determine the significance and timing of the event. With a change in technology, BP would need to assess whether or not implementation would give them a competitive advantage. The threat of new entrants to the industry in the context of the BP oil spill was likely pretty low. Aside from the traditional challenges of entering an industry as a new comer, new offshore leases were placed on hold, and a moratorium subsequently placed on offshore drilling below 500 feet by the federal government. Companies need the exact amount and ingredients of what to put in their product. Such as a can of soda. A can of soda normally contains 12 fluid ounces. 12 fluid ounces is approximately 354 grams. These companies are using some sort of measurement system. We use something called imperial system where as most countries use metric system. Governments don t want confusion to be amongst them, so they only adopt on system of measurement. Why do scientists only prefer one system of measurement? I think this is simply due to them not wanting to convert all their units into a whole other dimension. Besides the fact that people are lazy. One interesting feature ... She can basically get whatever she wants, they will do anything for her, because they find her so attractive. I personally would not pick her for a role model but I will admit she had some admirable qualities. For example, the way she changed over the course of the novel. At first she did not really care about anyone or anything but herself. Then she began to realize what she did to people and she began to consider the feeling a of others as well as her own. If her relationship with Pedro had occurred at the beginning of the novel, she probably would have given no thought to what effects their relationship would have on him. However, by the end of the novel she had gained the understanding to know that he should do what is right, put away her own feelings, and leave him for his own good. She could be used as a role model because of her liberty. She is never tied down, as if she is floating in the breeze, aimlessly wandering from place to place. She does not conform. Daniel Patrick Moynihan and President Johnson proposed two different policies to resolve black poverty. Moynihan s reason as to why black poverty exists is due to the pathology of African Americans. It is impossible to create art in a vacuum, unaffected by the society and events surrounding you. The time period, location, and social changes and innovations can have a direct effect on the art produced. Political events, especially wars, can have a strong influence on the music and art produced at that time. For example, music may become more patriotic during a time of war as the composers strive to publicize their national pride. I will explore this idea through the composer Igor Stravinskyand his three most famous ballets in terms of music and choreography. His wide range of locations creates an expansive social and political influence on his works and their choreography. Similar to many famous composers, Stravinsky did not study music from the time he was a small child, but studied law and philosophy at St Petersburg University (Taruskin, White). Throughout the course of his life, Stravinsky composed almost 100 works, ranging in genres. He began to be commissioned by the Ballet Russes in 1909 and by the following year was asked by Serge Diaghilev to produce The Firebird (Taruskin, White). The Ballet Russes was a Paris ballet company run by Serge Diaghilev that was known for its creative and inventive performances. Many people did not like the Ballet Russes innovative style and chose to watch classic ballet companies instead in order to continue the classical style that many believed ballet should express. However, Diaghilev was determined to do something unique with his ballet company and they made their performances extremely modern (Lockspeiser). The Firebird was the work that set Stravinsky s career on fire, and allowed his name to become spoken with respect and fame. It premiered at the Paris Opera on June 25, 1910. However, this theology has still enjoyed only limited development and acceptance (Cobb 82). Humanity needs to further its understanding of itself as an integral constituent of creation, rather than seeing itself as above, below or outside creation. According to the prophetic tradition of the Hebrew Bible, humanity is an inextricable part of nature. The norm of participation seeks to engage the entire human community in decisions that affect it, which often requires dismantling the social, political and economic forces that prevent the full participation of some (Martin Schramm 211). In the Old Testament, the law served as a model for full participation, making clear that the land s bounty must be used for the welfare of all, including widows, orphans and aliens (Kaufman 22). Jesus ministry to the outcast and marginalized also made possible increased participation. He gave attention to Samaritans, women, the poor, the despised and the diseased, drawing all people into the Reign of God. Atheism Is Not A Religion, A Worldview Or A Belief System There have been numerous debates between the religious and atheists, and all seem to end with the same conclusion: neither side changed at all. Atheism is defined as the rejection of the God hypothesis. Atheism is not a religion, a worldview or a belief system; they are just denying religious claims that fail to provide evidence. Christians follow the teachings of Jesus Christ written in the bible. Depending on the location the sparrows have different characteristics, some are larger and heavier to protect from the cold while others are lighter to withstand heat. There is so much evidence for microevolution it s almost impossible to deny. Microevolution is observable because of the short timespan required for it to take place. In this case, film only followed the previous example of traditional theater, where the star power of famous actors would carry a production. The familiarity of audiences with actors contributed to the popularity of Hollywood films both home and overseas. First and foremost, Hollywood operated like the big businesses created at the beginning of the 20th century. Just as Henry Ford revolutionized the car industry by mass producing the Model T, the studio system perfected the formula for massive hits. After a brief period of experimentation, Hollywood figured out the elements that constituted an audience favorite; they then proceeded to extract as much value as possible before audiences got exhausted of the repetitiveness. It must be noted that Hollywood did not offer a plethora of identical pictures, but a model which could be modified by directors, actors, and especially during this period producers. It is projected that by the year 2040, older adults will far outnumber school age children. Older adults are currently healthier and lead more productive lives than ever before, due in part to modern medicine and the new idea of seeing older people for their potential rather than their problems. A Comparison of Two Therapeutic Approaches to Mental Disorders The essence of the medical model is the view that abnormal behaviours like mental disorders result from physical problems and should be treated medically, in other words; mental disorders resemble physical diseases, in that they are both illness of the body. As a result, the medical approach would argue that mental illness and therapeutic action should be taken from the medical perspective. Whereas the psychodynamic approach concerning mental illness put forward by Freud was based partly on his psychosexual development theory. In essence, the child passes through stages such as oral, anal etc. Major conflicts or excessive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drugs have been used with some success to treat various disorders such as schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression. The medical model argues for direct manipulation of the physiological system within the body, and uses somatic therapy (a major part of which is drug therapy). Drug therapy has been used in the treatment of several disorders, and has been used in the treatment of patients suffering from major depression and schizophrenia. Neuroleptic drugs (drugs that reduce psychotic symptoms but can also produce some of the symptoms of neurological diseases) are often used in the treatment of schizophrenia. Common neuroleptic drugs include the phenothiazines, the butyrophenones and the thioxanthenes as they reduce the positive symptoms of schizophrenia for example delusions and hallucinations, but have little effect on the negative symptoms e.g. lack of motivation and emotion and social withdrawal. The drugs used to treat schizophrenia have the great advantage that schizophrenic patients no longer need to be restrained in straitjackets. However, they have significant disadvantages. First, as we have seen, they have several unfortunates side effects. Second, the drugs basically reduce symptoms, and cannot be regarded as providing a cure for schizophrenia. This is very unlike the psychodynamics approach to treating mental disorders; the psychodynamic therapy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Sigmund Freud s Theory Of Psychology In the textbook it describes how Freud believed your conscious thoughts were only the tip of the iceberg when studying the brain. Freud believed there were three levels of awareness. The first level is, conscious level these are thoughts we are aware of in the moment (Cervone Pervin, 2013). The second level is the preconscious level, which are contents we could easily become aware of (Cervone Pervin, 2013). The third level is the unconscious level. This level is mental contents of the mind that we are unaware and cannot become aware of. These thoughts can only be accessed under special circumstances (Cervone Pervin, 2013). This led Freud to write The Interpretation of Dreams. When studying dreams, Freud found that dreams are very strange. I have found this also in my lifetime. I have always been fascinated by dreams. As a kid I would wake up wanting to replay my dream on a display screen. In the mornings, I would be so excited to explain what happened in my dreams the night before to my family members. I wanted so badly for them to understand how crazy they were, but most of the time they were too bizarre for them to understand so they gave up listening. Unlike most of my friends and family my dreams were so vivid that I could almost always remember them. In high school, I began to think that because my dreams were so vivid, they had to mean something. I began trying to interpret my dreams. If there were a symbol that stuck out in my dream all night, like a snake, I would try to look up the meaning. Or if there were a certain act I was performing in my dream, like swimming in the ocean, I would look it up. At first, I was looking up the meanings on dream interpretation websites. Then, I ended up getting a book. Now I know that thanks to Freud, I am able to interpret my own dreams. I remember specifically, my senior year of high school after my mom passed away, she would be in my dreams. They were vivid memories of her and I, the dreams always felt so real. In the beginning after her passing, I would have dreams consecutively with her in it. As months passed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mark Twain Benaras, Kashi or Varanasi, whatever it may be called, this city has been enthralling people from far and wide, since ages. The spirituality and mysticism of Varanasi, epitomizes everything Indian in a different and better way than many other cities. Though it is considered as one of the oldest living cities of the world, yet it presents an incomparable blend of tradition and modernism existing side by side. This difference might due to the lower memory capacity of 14 months old infant in the performance of the complex task. Some feel that renaming a child is dismissing their heritage and their personal history /story. In other situations, it seems obvious that the child could benefit from a different name (cases of abuse or criminal neglect or violent crime, etc.) We acknowledge the seriousness of the discussion and support the right of adoptive parents to determine what is best for their familyand their child. Yet, there are those instances in which the adopted child does need to be renamed or when an infant adoptionleaves adoptive parents in search of the name that fits their baby perfectly. • 43. Canadian Federalism Conclusion As of now we have looked at three points of contention between the two parties. But these are merely pieces of the puzzle, by connecting them together we will see the full picture. First, the sovereigntists see Quebec as a distinct society, which is distinct in its own right due to its distinct culture and institutions. But as history has shown them, the Canadian federation has undermined Quebecand its distinctness. The sovereigntists see this as setting Quebec on a path of continued subjugation under Canadian federalism. Desiring to change the situation they are left with two options, either be recognized and gain autonomy over there culture, or separate from the union and gain autonomy in this way. Canadathen is a subjugator of Quebec and is different from Quebec do having different culture and institutions. Furthermore, Canada refuses to recognize this difference. Following from before then, Quebec must leave the union or continued to be subjugated. Therefore, sovereigntists view Quebec as distinct unrecognized state, who has been historically subjugated under Canada, and is on a path of continued subjugation, while they view Canada as different from Quebec and as the subjugator of Quebec.... Takeover Summary of Facts o George Keller of the Standard Oil Company of California (Socal) is trying to determine how much he wants to bid on Gulf Oil Corporation. In 1983, Gulf began reducing exploration expenditures considerably due to declining oil prices as Gulf management repurchased 30 million of their 195 million shares outstanding. o The Gulf Oil takeover was due to a recent takeover attempt by Boone Pickens, Jr. of Mesa Petroleum Company. Production in 1983 was 290 million composite barrels, and this was assumed to be constant until 1991 when the remaining 283 million barrels are produced. o Production costs were held constant relative to the production amount, including depreciation due to the unit of production method currently used by Gulf (Production will be the same, so depreciation amount will be the same) o Because Gulf uses the LIFO method to account for inventory, it is assumed that new reserves are expensed the same year that they are discovered and all other exploratory costs, including geological and geophysical costs are charged against income as incurred. o Since there will be no more exploration going forward, the only expenses that will be considered are the costs involved with production to deplete the reserves. o The price of oil was not expected to rise in the next ten years, and since inflation affects both the selling price of oil and the cost of production, it cancels itself out and was negated in the cash flow analysis. o Revenues minus expenses determined the cash flows for years 1984 1991. The cash flows cease in 1991 after all oil and gas reserves are liquidated. The cash flows derived account for the liquidation of the oil and gas assets only, and do not account for liquidating other assets such as current assets or net properties. • 45. Cultural Beliefs In The Odyssey By Beowulf In The Odyssey, the Cyclops symbolizes cultural values straying from the norm of society, while in Beowulf, Grendel symbolizes the consequences of not conforming to those values. In The Odyssey, Homer uses the Cyclops to encapsulate values which are considered abnormal in everyday society. The beasts are culturally, politically and religiously detached from civilization. Homer describes the one eyed beasts, They have no meeting place for council, no laws either, no, up on the mountain peaks they live in arching caverns each a law to himself, ruling his wives and children, not a care in the world for any neighbor (9.125 128) In ancient greek society family and community were heavily valued, however it seems that each Cyclops wants nothing to do with the others, revealing them as cultural outsiders who wouldn t be accepted among humanity. Additionally, the brutes have no meeting place for council, no laws either. The Odyssey was written in the 8th century BC, during the beginnings of Archaic Greece. City states were the popular form of government and communal decision making started to gain value. In stark contrast to this form of politics, the Cyclops made decisions for themselves, rarely communicating with anyone but their own families. Their governmental actions stray far from the Greeks public standards. Perhaps the largest difference between the Cyclops and any other Greek citizen though, is their religious difference.
