Who are 5 Seconds
Of Summer?
5 Seconds of Summer, often shortened to 5SOS,
are an Australian pop rock band from Sydney, New
South Wales, formed in 2011. The group consists
of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Luke
Hemmings, lead guitarist Michael Clifford, bassist
Calum Hood, and drummer Ashton Irwin. They
were originally YouTube celebrities, posting videos
of themselves covering songs from various artists
during 2011 and early 2012. They rose to
international fame while touring with English-Irish
band One Direction on their Take Me Home Tour.
They have since released three studio albums and
headlined three world tours.
Youngblood
• Style[s] & Techniques employed: The style used in this video is the style of Tokyo love. The techniques used however was are the glitching edits like a television glitch as well as art
interruptions such as the main title when the singers sing the word.
• Intertextuality: The intertextuality used in this video is that it is set in Tokyo and the beginning takes a shot of two old people in love ever since they were youngest.
• Camerawork/editing: The camerawork featured within this video mainly show different angle shots of the band as well as wider shots so there’s more in the background.
• Genre conventions: Since this band is a pop group, they tend to lip sync the lyrics as well as follow a generic storyline, mainly everyday issues and stories.

the roof and the floor. .

• Camerawork/editing: The camerawork featured in this video is mainly focused on the position of the individual such as what part of the room they are placed on, the
camera focuses on that.

know what’s going to happen.
• Intertextuality: Regarding intertextuality, the main part of this factor this that it recalls dentist life and that it is typical to think to worst at the dentist due to the operation factors.
• Camerawork/editing: The style of camerawork for this video is pretty simple, for they just do quick shots of every angle of the location of where the video is shot.
• Genre conventions: Since this band is a pop group, they tend to lip sync the lyrics as well as follow a generic storyline, mainly everyday issues and stories.

• Style[s] & Techniques employed: The style of this video is mainly like Adele’s personal songs, where everything in the video is dark and personal and based on real life stories.
• Intertextuality: The intertextuality is the street lamps, fences and dark atmosphere because some people may feel like that one day and you can find street lamps and fences
everywhere.
• Camerawork/editing: The camerawork is pretty simple, as since this is a personal video, the shots are pretty simple and taken form a different angle.
• Genre conventions: Since this band is a pop group, they tend to lip sync the lyrics as well as follow a generic storyline, mainly everyday issues and stories.
• Critical approaches: With regards to this category, the band lips sync the lyrics so it makes it look like they are singing in the foreground.
Comparison to Adele
Overall, 5SOS and Adele have a lot in common,
they both talk about personal aspects of life such
as young life, affairs and break ups, this is good
because it spreads awareness as well as helping
those with similar issues get through the odds.
