Music Industry Essay
Writing an essay on the subject of the music industry can be a challenging task due to the
multifaceted nature of the topic. The music industry encompasses a wide range of components,
including but not limited to, artistic expression, technological advancements, business models,
legal frameworks, and cultural influences. Navigating through this intricate web of factors
requires a comprehensive understanding of various disciplines, such as musicology, business
studies, law, and sociology.
One of the challenges lies in keeping the essay focused and coherent while addressing the
diverse aspects of the music industry. Striking a balance between providing an in-depth analysis
and avoiding information overload can be demanding. Furthermore, staying updated with the
ever-evolving landscape of the music industry, marked by technological disruptions and shifting
consumer preferences, adds an extra layer of complexity to the task.
Additionally, discussing the impact of the music industry on society, culture, and individual
artists requires a nuanced approach. It involves exploring the interplay between artistic creativity,
commercial interests, and the socio-economic dynamics of the industry. Analyzing case studies,
industry trends, and the historical evolution of music can be time-consuming but is essential for
constructing a well-rounded argument.
Researching for credible sources, academic articles, and the latest industry reports is another
challenge. The vast amount of information available, coupled with the need to discern reliable
sources from speculative ones, can be a time-consuming and meticulous process.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the music industry demands a thorough understanding of
various disciplines, staying abreast of current industry trends, and addressing the complex
interrelationships within the sector. It is a task that requires time, dedication, and a keen
analytical mindset to do justice to the multifaceted nature of the subject.

My College and Career choices
My College and Career choices
My three college choices are University of Florida, University of Seattle and Ohio
University. Each of these colleges have good qualities for my careers. I m not very
sure what exactly I want to have a career in. Two of my main choices are
veterinarian or child care. Some of my concerns are the distance, cost of tuition, the
quality of the program, and the recreation at the colleges. University of Florida is my
first choice. The tuition for my enrollment would be $6,270. With this college there
are 16 programs for this university. For each semester you need to have 15 credits.
To get in to this college you are based on scholarships and on academic achievement
and you must have a 3.0 GPA or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these are team sports for basketball, football and more. They also have an
amazing band. Ohio State is very close to home. and is in state.
I talked about how I wasn t really sure what I wanted to do as my career. I thought
of either child care or veterinarian. Job requirements for child care are you have to
be able to take act in a emergency situation. You need to be able to connect with
kids and show them you care. This is a very social job too. Working conditions for
this job could be outside, inside, at home, at a day care, or in a school. The job
requirements for a veterinarian is you need the skills. You need to have passion for
animals, you need business skills, and social skills. The working conditions for this
job can be in a clinic and/or outside. This job can be a traveling job, such as farms or
other homes.
The salary for child care can range from $45,000 to 116,000. The salary range for a
veterinarian is from $49,000 to $113,000. These are really good paying jobs that
could really provide enough for me. The benefits for child care are you get to interact
with kids and connect to them on another level. The benefits for veterinarian are
interacting with animals and to help their needs and stay alive.
These are to good supporting jobs. There are more and more clinics for vets and
children. I feel I will probably end up working for someone close and then try to start
my own business in Florida. Both of these
The Sun Rising
The Sun Rising is a poem written by John Donne in the late 1590s consisting of 30
lines divided into three stanzas of 10 lines each following the rhyme scheme
ABBACDCDEE. John Donne was a leading English poet of the Metaphysical school
often considered as the greatest love poet in the English language. If we take into
account the rhymes of each stanza, we may note that within a stanza, three units are
being proposed : first of all the first unit of the stanza is composed of introverted
rhymes following the rhymescheme ABBA, then the second unit of the stanza is
composed of alternate rhymes following the rhyme scheme CDCD, finally the last
unit is a couplet with the rhyme scheme EE. The poem is generally iambic but the
pattern is occasionally broken by the poet to mark style effects as well as the meters
that are irregular, moreover Donne uses many archaisms throughout his poem. In this
aubade, the poet complains about the sun that interrupts in the morning the two...

The poem humanizes the sun by personifying it from the first line : busy old fool ,
as an old man with duties to perform : shine on the world and awaken the earthlings
in the morning. Through the adjectives unruly (l.1), saucy pedantic wretch (l. 5),
the poet brings a human touch to the sun giving it a personality and a conscience
and even grants it eyes in line 16 and 19 : look , saw st (here with a syncope) ; a
voice in line 19 : ask ; as well as ears in line 20 : hear . The adjectives used may be
surprising to the reader, Donne lectures the sun using an apostrophe from the first
line and marks the tone with a trochee that emphasizes on the rebellious character of
the poet awakened by the sunbeams. The sun represents the passage of time which
threatens the relationship of the lovers but the poet emphasizes in line 9 and 10 that
despite the passage of time, love resists the temporal power of the
Junior Marine Analysis
There are two major components to be successful as a junior Marine fresh in the
Fleet. Those two things are Accountability and Time Management. These two things
are important because they show that the Marine shows discipline and responsibility,
and without those things you will be labeled early as terrible Marine, with those two
components comes great responsibility. The accountability of your Marines and of
the Marines around you shows that you as a Marine is trustworthy and can
complete future missions. Not only be accounted for but timing yourself earlier then
the Marines around you shows your higher ups and your junior Marines that you are

Marines in the past have lost their lives from just as simple as not being accounted
for. Marines never take this serious because a lot of people in today s day of age
are always just assuming their numbers are up. That factor is where leadership and
responsibility fall into play. On the night of 30 August 1988, Lcpl Rother was
posted alone as a road guard/guide along a desolate trail. In order to guide the
Battalions midnight training movements, he was posted on the last of a 3day live
fire training exercise the concluded the Battalions training package. (Almazan)
This Marine was still posted 40 hours after he should have gotten relieved. The
Marines in in the unit just assumed that Lcpl Rother got picked up and the platoon
sergeants had an all hands formation and they all reported All present . At
approximately 1730 on 1 September, a weapons inventory highlighted the fact that
Lcpl Rother had not been seen in 2 days. From where his remains were found, Lcpl
Rother could have seen US Highway 66 (National trails highway) 2 miles away.
(Almazan). This article clearly shows the importance of being accounted for and
shows how the sergeants of those platoons were not responsible. They let that Marine

Spiritual Emancipation In Countee Cullen s Incident And...
Alain Locke describes his hopes and aspirations for the Black race in his 1925 essay
The New Negro. He argues that the birth of the new Negro is dependent on the
transformation of old characterizations and attitudes into less restrictive and more
supportive notions. Locke states that by shedding the old chrysalis of the Negro
problem [Blacks] are achieving something like a spiritual emancipation (Locke, p.
985). This emancipation is a liberation from the prejudices of the White man and the
psychological segregation interpreted from social discrimination. This internal
metamorphosis is a reoccurring theme in some of the poetry from the Harlem
Renaissance; Countee Cullen s poems Incident and Tableau frame the spectrum of

The Story Of Christianity s Rise Of Prominence
The story of Christianity s rise to prominence is often spoken of, however, the
struggles and persecution that Christians originally faced during the Romanic
times seem to always be forgotten. The Romans viewed Christianity as a threat to
the emperor and the empire due to their actions that were believed to go against the
Roman way of life. Although the act of being a Christian stood as being completely
legal, the Romans viewed Christianity as being hardly innocent, and in fact deemed
it necessary to act upon their heinous way of being. Through Pliny s letter to Trajan,
Res Gestae Divi Augusti, and the Roman s understanding of the Lord s Prayer, it
becomes more understandable why the Romans felt threatened by Christianity.
Although it does not justify their actions, the Romans did have some logic behind
their claims against Christianity. Pliny the Younger, the governor of Bithynia at the
time, wrote a well renowned letter to Trajan, the Emperor of Rome. Pliny reached
out to Trajan for counsel over the Christians. Pliny received anonymous accusations
against Christians that accused Christians of wrong doings, and Pliny himself had
never participated in a trial of Christians before. Pliny asks Trajan for guidance on
three things initially. He asks whether the age of the Christian should be a factor,
whether a Christian should be pardoned if they repent, and if the name of being a
Christian is simply a crime, or only the offenses that follow from being a Christian
are.

Blue Moon Financial (BMF) is a large financial services firm. Recently, its
information security team has been working in an elevated status to protect BMF
from a recent increase in network intrusions suffered by other financial services firms.
Unfortunately, even though senior management recognizes the threats posed by
cyber incidents, they have not provided the senior security analyst with a high
enough budget to retain experienced information securitytechnicians; as a result, the
current security team is inexperienced. Additionally, an incident response plan has
not been implemented, but is currently being developed.
The senior security analyst has been informed that increase port scanning and
reconnaissance activity has been detected on BMF s network. To confirm this the
senior security analyst reviewed the logs and the intrusion detection system and
verified that the BMF network was currently being targeted.
This document will provide information on what must be accomplished by the
security team to respond to this current threat. For that reason, the security team must
complete four tasks to respond to this incident. These tasks are:
1.To describe the plan for responding to the network intrusion incident;
2.What is the communication and coordination plan;
3.How to determine information about the attack; and
4.How to handle evidence.

Describe your plan for responding to the network intrusion incident. Some of the
items you will want to cover include:
Misinterpretation and Its Consequences
Julius Caesar Theme Analysis Essay Misinterpretations are the root of all tragedies,
especially Julius Caesar. They have severe consequences like the loss of innocent
lives, conflicts between friends, all the way to our inability to discern our friends
from our foes. Each of these misinterpreting concepts is demonstrated in Julius Caesar
. Cinna the poet s death, Brutus s betrayal, and Cassius s misunderstanding of Titinius
s death are all scenarios that portray the theme of misinterpretation and its severe
consequences. First of all, the most important misinterpretation in this play is Caesar
s relationship with Brutus. For example, Caesar is dependent on Brutus as his utmost
loyal companion, but in the end, Brutus ends up killing... Show more content on

Another misinterpretation happened between Cinna the Conspirator and Cinna the
Poet. For example, Cinna, the poet, was killed because the public thought he was the
conspirator. Unfortunately, the public got the poet and the conspirator confused, and
because of that misunderstanding and misinterpretation, an innocent life was lost. In
addition, the conspirator Cinna was also misinterpreted as a friend by Caesar, when
in reality; he was Brutus s accomplice in his tragic conspiracy. In the end, the
misinterpretation of circumstances and people led to the killing of the innocent poet,
Cinna. Even the people, who betray others, fall prey to the destructive
misinterpretations themselves. For example, Cassius who betrayed Caesar, was
mislead into believing that Titinius was dead, and because he could not take the
weight of this sorrow, he killed himself. However this was a big misinterpretation
because Titinius was not really dead...Cassius had received the wrong message.
Misinterpretations are liable to happen to everyone, and their consequences are tragic.
None the less, whether it is the misinterpretation of circumstances, people, or events,
the result is always destructive. The way Julius Caesar trusted Brutus, but was
betrayed by him shows that people aren t really what they seem. In addition, the
misinterpretation of names and people can cause the downfall of innocents as well,
like the way Cinna the Poet was killed.
Summary Of How To Poison The Earth By Linnea Saukko
How to Poison the Earth by Linnea Saukko is a satirical piece of writing that
shows how we should preserve and guarantee the fate of the earth by inversely
destroying it. Saukko applied her knowledge from working as an environmental
technician and acting as an advisor on chemical safety at large corporations. With a
background in hazardous waste as well as chemical safety, the writer was able to
use her previous education to add facts and statistics to the paper. As well as using
satire to convey her message, Saukko demonstrates the use of chronological order,
vivid word choice, as well as using a substantial amount of sarcasm throughout her
response. The use of chronological order throughout the paper, allowed the author
to describe step by step the long and grim process that it would take to poison the
earth. Saukko first describes the varying chemicals that are available to us today, that
could severely impact the earth. The author then continues to describe a method in
which one would use to literally inject the earth with toxins. The second to last
approach that Saukko describes is to pollute the waters, water makes up 70% of our
earth s composition, so poisoning it would largely affect the people as well as the
outer surface of our planet. The last mechanism that the... Show more content on

By using such a vivid vocabulary Saukko is able to exaggerate her main ideas by
drawing in the reader s attention. At the beginning of the paper the author describes
all of the harmful chemicals that are used to intoxicate the earth, and by doing this
the reader is drawn to continue reading the paper because the author is coming from
an educated standpoint. The exaggerated words also stress how harmful these
chemicals really are to the earth s well being and how powerful they are. Such a
small amount of product can cause a great amount of damage, and this is shown by
the colorful vocabulary of
Rise Of The Texas Republican Party
Rise of the Texas Republican Party
For decades, the state of Texas was Democratic and then suddenly in 1998 the state
flipped to Republican. Currently, Texas is the boldest Republican state in the
country. For so long it was Democrat and strongly so but it has been Republican now
since the nineties. The big question surrounding this topic is what happened to make
it flip suddenly? Well, research provided a very strong answer that I didn t expect to
find. In 1988 two people were voted in that changed everything for Republicans; Kent
Hance and Judge Thomas Phillips were the first republicans voted in since the
Reconstruction. This kick started a Republican makeover of the state that all through
the nineties Texans saw Republicans overtaking Democrats in every area. To
understand how this went down in the nineties there must be an examination of the
past. The Democratic party was the face of Texas for a century until the Republicans
came back stronger than ever.
First and foremost, Texas was not colonized by British settlers. This has always
made it stand out as a fiercely independent territory then later a state. The
individuals who shaped and formed Texas did so in such a way to hold tightly onto
its fierce independence. This fierce independence was fueled throughout the first
several decades of Texas existence due to invading foreign armies and the daily
struggles of just surviving in the Wild West. Because of this, the people of Texas
developed strong work ethics and a
The Importance Of Race In The Film Slumdog Millionaire
If you can do nothing else, do whatever is in your power to make the people in your
life feel completely unashamed of who they are (Killermann). As times change and
our society continues to evolve, the importance of human rights and acceptance are
constantly emphasized. Through the movie, Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny
BoyleI learned about discriminationrelating to social class. Additionally, in the song,
Small Town Boy by Bronski Beat, I learned about how gay individuals may be
judged by society. Through further analyzing and exploring these texts, I could seek
real life examples of how human rights can be violated. These texts prove that we
must move away from the deep rooted issue of discrimination and learn to accept,
love, and celebrate our differences not only as individuals but as a society.
In Danny Boyle s movie, Slumdog Millionaire , the use of pathos allows readers to
understand how discrimination relating to social class is a real issue. The movie
follows the life of a Muslim boy named Jamal, living in a Hindu environment. Jamal
decides to participate in an Indian game show and has made it to the final round that
could win himself one million dollars. As the audience settles down and the question
is announced, the game show host turns to Jamal and says, Do the right thing in
approximately three minutes and you will be as famous as me. And as rich as me.

Hummingbird Adaptations Essays
Hummingbirds have evolved certain behavioural and physical traits which allows for
them to be more energetically efficient, such as specialized storage and digestion
adaptations, feeding and flying adaptations and breathing adaptation. Hummingbirds
are extremely small and their muscles for flight are highly oxygen dependent and
require large amounts of energy. Hummingbirds are one of the smallest endotherms
and any energetic output can be metabolically stressful. The hummingbirds small
body size means that they have very little room for energy storage and therefore
often endure energetic and metabolic stresses. They are the one of the oldest aves,
dating back to some 33 million years ago and have evolved certain energy efficient...

Hummingbirds have also evolved a unique relationship with some plants which have
evolved specializations such as bright coloration and large petals in order to entice
hummingbird to feed from them. These specialized flowers do supply nectar in each
flower; however, these plants will allow the hummingbird to meet its nutritional
requirements in one visit, and by doing so hummingbirds are forced to visit many
flowers and in turn are cross pollinating the flowering plants. This behavior has
allowed for a close mutualism to evolve between these specialized plants and
hummingbirds. (Welch Suarez 2008).
Flight adaptations
Hummingbird feeding behaviour has evolved so that they hover in flight, however
due to this behaviour they have lost the ability to use their feet which now only serve
for perching. (Lotz, Nicolson 1996). They compensate for this devolution by
alternating their wing angle during flight which in turn has allowed them to use less
energetic output during flight (Gass Garrison 1999). Another adaptation that
hummingbirds have evolved to allow them to hover in midair is the rate at which
they flap their wings. This unique flying behaviour has created specific skeletal and
flight muscle adaptations such as a large keel and rigid weight bearing girdles which
allows for greater muscle attachment from wing to abdomen and in turn an increase
Old Gray Fence Analysis
How To Restore An Old Gray Fence So It Looks Like New
If you ve moved into a house with a wooden fence that s gray and old looking, you
may think you have to install a whole new fence. While you might need to hire a
fencing contractor to put in a new fence, especially if you want a fence of another
material, it might be possible to postpone the job and save some money by repairing
the fence yourself. Here are a few things to try that don t cost much more than some
time and labor.
Use A Pressure Washer
As wood ages, it turns a drab gray color naturally. What you may not know is the
gray color is usually just on the surface. That s because the top layer oxidizes as it
is exposed to the environment. The protected wood in deeper layers still has it s
original color. You can blast away the top layer of gray with a pressure washer. If
you don t own one already, you can rent one from a home improvement store.
Practice in a small area first. You want a wide spray that strips the gray, but the
setting shouldn t be so strong that it damages the wood underneath the top layer. As
long as your fence is still structurally strong and not on the verge of falling apart, the
pressure washing may be enough to freshen its appearance and extend ... Show more

Make a list of things you ll need to do and then head to a fencing supply store to
pick up the parts you ll need. You may have to replace loose screws or broken gate
hinges. If the fence is damaged in a localized area, you may need to replace a few
slats or an entire panel. You might be able to repair cracked or splintered slats with
wood glue. Just be sure to choose products made for exterior fencing so they will not
deteriorate when exposed to the sun or rain. The important thing to note is the
condition of the posts. As long as the posts are not rotted away, you can replace
panels to eliminate sagging and restore the strength of the

Bioavailability Of Beta Carotene?
Significantly more beta carotene is absorbed from cooked and processed foods.
This is because beta carotene is set free from the cellular matrices by the heat from
processing and cooking. This allows beta carotene to be readily available for
absorption in our body, rather than in raw vegetables where it should first be
extracted from the cellular matrices

Verbal Irony Research Paper
The Importance of Irony in American Literature
Irony is the expression of one s meaning by using language that normally signifies
the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect. This essay will emphasize
and recognize the power of irony in American Literature. To Build a Fire, The Story
of an Hour, and The Crucible all show strong elements of irony. A quote, pulled from
the book How to Read Literature Like a Professor says that, In each case, the sign
carries with it a customary meaning, but that doesn t guarantee it will deliver the
received meaning. Ironic words may have many meanings, but will never have the
meaning you expect. In this essay three different stories will represent the three main
different types of irony. The types of irony shown in this essay will be situational
irony, dramatic irony, and verbal irony.
The first type of irony is dramatic irony. The reader knows what is going to happen
in the story and the main character does not know how the story will play out. For
instance, Jack London s famous tale, To Build a Fire, is about a man traveling
through the cold, wintery snow by himself. This story shows many flashbacks to ...

Verbal irony is when words express something contrary to truth or someone says the
opposite of what they really feel or mean. Verbal irony is often sarcastic. The town
thinks that this group of girls are witches and they are crazy. There is one man named
Proctor that is involved with one of the girls. Proctor has an affair on his wife,
Elizabeth, with the main girl. Hale asks Proctor to recite the Ten Commandments
from the Bible. Proctor recited all of the Ten Commandments but adultry. Proctor
didn t remember adultry because he committed adultry against his wife Elizabeth with
Abigal. This represents how because Proctor had sinned against one of the
Commandments, he completely forgot to mention that adultry was one of the Ten

The Importance Of Making Valid Decision And
Strategizing...
1
I still remember the days in my universities as if it were yesterday. In those days I
worked with lot of national and international organizations, which are working in
varied sectors and bringing change by modern methodologies. In second year of my
under graduate, I founded a Non Governmental Organization named Fep Si (Forum
for Empowering people through Social Innovation and Entertainment) and worked
with another organization named Alexis Foundation as research associate for
designing public policy driven by Big Data. From the experiences of working in
these organizations I learnt about the importance of making valid decision and
strategizing on business, polity and market front by providing accurate and up to
date information and performing data driven decision making at minor level. On the
other hand exposure of working with United Nations Envoy on Youth also helped
me in evolving as a leader who has the quality of thinking analytically towards global
problems. During these days I have felt many times that a lot of these problems can
be solved by integrating computer technology into data collection and management of
resources, energy, capital and various other things which are generally done by old
methodologies. These instances motivated me to believe that in the complex and
interconnected world of international business and its strategizing, the science of
information management is ever more important.
My interest in analytical thinking and science dates back to my
Who Is The Moral Hypocrisy In Maggie The Girl Of The
Streets
Maggie, the girl of the streets written by Stephen Crane is a novella that shows the
underlying truth on how the common people of the gilded age lived. Maggie our
tragic hero who blossomed in a mud puddle (Crane 5); though she had dreams of a
better life due to the grim environment she is broken down by reality and was
ultimately a product of her environment. The Boweryis the society Maggie is living
in, it is a merciless and cruel place littered with pubs and violence. One thing that is
very common in this setting is moral hypocrisies, this is when people often flip on
their moral beliefs when it benefits them. Jimmie, Maggie s older brother is a hot
headed truck driver. He s selfish and often seduces women then abandons them when
commitment is involved. Crane uses Jimmie to show hypocrisyin this novella.
Morals are the foundation of human behavior and actions. Jimmie is a moral
hypocrite because he considers his actions different than Maggie even though one
would say they re the same or even worse. Jimmie and Maggie grew up in a rather
abusive household and Jimmie got involved in many fights, in one particular fight in
rum alley he met Pete for the first time and they became friends. When they grow
older Maggie gets involved with Pete. Jimmie thinks Maggie s relationship is
immoral and that pete is ruining his sister. Although he is doing the same thing to
other women. Later on in the novella Maggie comes home begging for forgiveness
when she is thrown
Broad-Based Blac Economic Empowerment
Broad Based Black economic empowerment (BBBEE) is a program exercised in the
South African business structure whereby formerly disadvantaged racial groups are
given economic opportunities that were not previously available to them, in an
attempt to rectify the inequalities of the past. The goal of Broad Based
Empowerment is to distribute wealth across as broad a spectrum of previously
disadvantaged South African society as possible.
The aim of this article is to discuss the ethical consequences of BBBEE and other
affirmative action tools implemented by the South African Government, and the role
of these measures in the present and future workplace.
Stakeholder Theory
Stakeholder theory states that managers within a company have a moral duty beyond
merely maximizing profits and not involving potential role players
(Beauchamp 2009).
It says that a manager has ethical obligations to help all stakeholders within a
company as well as external stakeholders. These stakeholders include company
employees, customers, investors and the society in which the company is situated.
Managers have to make decisions in such a way that they don t do anything illegal or
morally frowned upon by society. The manager has to act on behalf of, and in the
interest of both the company s shareholders and stakeholders. These actions need to
be followed through regardless of whether or not the long term results benefit the
company s shareholders they should benefit all their stakeholders.

The Unorthodox Restoration Of A Tarnished Image
I.Introduction
The Unorthodox Restoration of a Tarnished Image is an interesting topic when
dealing with professional athletes. Lebron James is currently in his 14th season in
the National Basketball Association (NBA). He spent his first seven seasons playing
for the Cleveland Cavaliers, just 39 miles from his hometown, Akron. After the 2009
2010 NBA season, James decided not to resign his contract with the Cleveland
Cavaliers and instead sign a contract with the Miami Heat. This decision led to
James joining forces with other NBA superstars such as Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade,
and Ray Allen. Later to become known as The Decision, James image was tarnished
for the way he abandoned his hometown team and became the villain of the NBA. ...

The paths that these athletes took were both similar and different from James .
The thesis will take an in depth look on the journey of Lebron James. From the
beginning days in Akron, the fame of his early days in Cleveland, to his villain
days in Miami and back up the mountain to being a hero in Cleveland, it will all be
discussed. Lebron James is not only a once in a life time type of athlete, but once in
a life time person and businessman as well. The tactics and lessons one can learn
from his strategies are infinite.
II.Beginning of the Brand The story of Lebron is known by many, but those who
see the famous professional athlete with a superstar status usually do not know
what he came from. On December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio, Lebron Raymone
James was born. His mother, Gloria James, was only 16 years old at the time and
his father, Anthony McClelland, was an ex convict with zero interest in becoming
a parent. With Gloria struggling from addiction and never keeping a steady job,
she and Lebron moved from apartment to apartment during his childhood. In the
fourth grade, Lebron moved in with his township football coach, Frankie Walker
(JockBio, 2016). Life was not easy for James growing up, but he was lucky enough
to have others surrounding him to help him rise. He played basketball at Saint
Vincent Saint Mary s High School where he would become a legend. A few of his
high school accolades include USA Today
Compare And Contrast Dee And Everyday Use
In the short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker, it is a family of three living in a
small house, and the story is told by Mama s perspective. In the beginning of the
story, Mama awaits her eldest daughter Dee to return home from college while
Maggie her youngest daughter is at home. Mama is aware that Maggie will be shy
and nervous when Dee arrives, while Dee will be happy, free spirited, and worry free.
Dee arrives and interacts with her familyand it is clear the obvious differences that the
two daughters have. Dee lives a more liberated, confident and carefree life while
Maggie is self conscious, shy, and reserved. In other words, Dee is an extrovert while

Unlike Maggie, Dee has more opportunities than Maggie which makes Dee more
free willing and secure in her own ways. With Dee s confidence, Mama says Dee,

nature (Walker par. 6). Dee is held on a high pedestal because of her education and
her age. Since Dee is older she is viewed wiser, a full grown woman, and not a child
anymore. Dee is full of experiences due to college and age. The story represents the
era of The Black Power Movement and with this era, Dee has carried of new
attitude of being liberated and not oppressed by others who feel superior. In that
period, many African Americans, disappointed by the failure of integration,
gravitated to the philosophy of cultural nationalism as the means to achieve
liberation (Christian 492). In addition, Dee desires to use a different name to
ensure she was not named by one who oppressed her or her grandparents. Dee is
very proud of her roots and heritage that she is hopeful to keep the quilts to
represent her background and show them off to the world. Everyday Use is, in part,
Alice Walker s response to the concept of heritage as articulated by the black
movements of the 1960s (Christian
Human Distribution Patterns Of Acacia Saligna
Abstract
Distribution patterns of Acacia saligna are quite diverse in South Africa especially
taking under consideration that they do not have immediate threats that inhibit their
spread. However, this species occurs in very different environmental gradients, as it
can occur from a wet habitat/area to a bare rock surface that is a very dry habitat.
Due to such observations for the distribution of this species a question is imposed in
this paper as to how do traits vary along environmental gradients? Two phenotypic
traits/characteristics are investigated, Specific Leaf Area (SLA) and wood density.
SLA was calculated by adding the total sum of all the leaf area per individual and
dividing that with the total sum of all the leaf dry mass per individual. SLA = Total
leaf area/ Dry leaf mass, SLA unit g/cmВІ. The highest value for SLA is at the dry
site, intermediate in wet site and lowest in the ultra dry site. The wood density for
branch and stem samples was calculated using the latest dry mass value/ volume.
Wood density unit measure is g/cmВі. The stem wood density was highest at the ultra
dry site, followed by wet site and then the dry site. Branch wood density was highest
at the dry site, intermediate at ultra dry site and lowest at the wet site.

Many memories have been made throughout my fifteen years of residence in my

breakfast alongside my nightstand. I can feel goosebumps beginning to shiver my
skin as the smell of my meal travels through my nose. The light shined bright in the

plate in hand when suddenly I heard my old floor creaking as I neared my small

running desktop fans blow emphatically catches my attention and I noticed
something quite off. My computer had a sticky note taped to the back saying, Do

and I knew I would be in for a bad experience. Freaking out seemed to be my only
option, however once I could smell the stench of my computer, turning it off was
all my brain was saying. My mother swiftly entered my room to check on me and
she gave me a frantic look of anger when she saw my fried computer. It was almost

As an old saying goes, bigger doesn t mean better. As a human society, we all have

that quite strongly at the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre as it showed the play

The acting was very natural. It s what drew me in the play the most. In previous
plays, I was always usually distracted with the pretty lights, attractive costumes,
and the loud catchy music in the background. If summed up into a couple of words
this play was just dialogue between two characters. It was a wonderful story. They
were able to get across the theme across in a very subtle way which I thought was
cool. It wasn t that obvious either. As the story moves along and the communication
between the uncle and niece increase, they both start realizing their fault along
with the audience. The only thing that drew me out was that I sort of felt cramped
in the theater. We were very close to the actors and it did create a connection, but it
was too close. I needed some space so I could the entire stage and what movements
the actors were doing. My favorite moment was the night scene in which the iguana
scratches on the roof and really disturbs Becky. It was hilarious and needed to light
up the mood. The atmosphere of the play started out funny and then drops to very
serious. We find out about Sterling who has a depressing life himself at the Labyrinth
scene. Becky introduces her issue which in a sense was pretty serious. Her childish
attitude surprisingly wasn t annoying at all to watch. In fact, it was adorable. The
only thing that really irked me was the random kiss. It kind of ruined my impression
on Becky who I really liked. I failed to

A Play At The Mixed Blood Theatre By Branden Jacobs
Jenkins
The play I went to go to see was called An Octoroon written by Branden Jacobs
Jenkins. I have never been to a play at the Mixed Blood Theatre, so I was very
excited to go and see this play. This play has been mentioned a lot lately by some
of my theatre professors, and they said it would be very interesting. They also
mentioned to not worry about the bunny too much, but I did. I am very glad I got
to see this unique play with its many interesting views. The beginning of the play
was very interesting in several ways. Firstly, the choice of dialect took me surprise
because of its vulgar nature. I personally enjoyed the use of speech because I find
it interesting when people use words freely when they are normally looked down
upon. The music that was played gave made another strong impression on me. The
title of the song was Bonfire by Childish Gambino, and it set a very interesting
mood. It definitely took me by surprise and I did not know how to react in that
situation. I just stared with my mouth open and tried to figure out why that song was
being played. Another thing that I found interesting was when the actors put makeup
and different clothes on in front of us. Seeing the actors start changing into new
characters right in front of me made me very intrigued about how people can break
the socially constructed ideas of how theatreworks.
The middle of the play made me confused for a good chunk of the time. The bunny
was beyond creepy and I tried to understand what its

I honest believe this is the only remedy for providing up to date technology, the
company has to make it a priority to provide the same technology to the global
environment. The customs can be corrected by provided a print out of what is
allowed and what is not allowed to be brought into or out of a country a passenger
is traveling through. The information is available online but some older passengers
aren t as savvy with technology so they may not receive the same information. With
this tactic there is not any excuse for not knowing what is expected when going
through customs. The strategies I stated above will be successful, only if they are
applied. Without application the strategy will be a failure. Within the domestic
environment the security system can be significantly improved and decrease the
risk for terrorist attacks greatly. This technology needs to be protected by requiring
a security clearance for all employees who work for the company. This way you have
a thorough back ground check on everyone who works for US Airways Group and the
risk for inside information getting out to enemies of the United States is low. Within
the global environment technology needs to be advanced. The company can protect
this technology by only providing the technology to its global counterparts and not the

as I have mentioned before is Will the real me please stand up . But after you read
the poem it becomes quite obvious what the title means. The poem talks about how

Observable Artifacts In Chrysler s Sales Chief Peter Fong
Cultural values of a company that are heard through stories or seen in a workplace
such as manner of dress, pictures, signs, or awards are examples of observable
artifacts (Kreitner Kinicki, 2013). There is a flaw to studying observable artifacts.
The possibility of making incorrect conclusions exists if we are not aware of how
they relate to basic assumptions. This is especially true for organizational stories
shared that are problematic. Lessons of a story will not be interpreted if persons do
not understand the basic assumption behind it (Schein, 1990). An example of an
observable artifact in this week s reading is a story regarding Chrysler s sales chief
Peter Fong. An issue that plagued other car manufactures was a frustration that
Analysis Of Harrah Entertainment, Inc.
Introduction Harrah Entertainment, Inc. is a multifaceted business with large scope
of services. They compete in 23 locations to be viewed as best service driven and
customer driven organization for their hotel accommodations, gambling experience,

competition is steep causing tight markets and desire to win an edge. Other
competitors focus on outshining and glamorizing their amenities to attract and
captivate the market (Delong Vijayaraghavan, 2003). Harrah s approach is much
different; they focus on marketing based attraction and consider their bread and

historically relied heavily on its people to accomplish their goals of gaining market
share, increase operating profits and revenue through creating memorable experiences
for happy, hungry and tired guests (Delong Vijayaraghavan, 2003). The senior

currently in place is a customer satisfaction driven gainsharing bonus plan (Delong

The reasons for this are varied. One of the major factors that prevent full federal
protection is that states have broad ways of defining what is considered personally
identifiable information. For instance, take a state like Connecticut: their state laws
consider an account number as a personal identifier (Wright, 2009). Let s say a
church sponsored a bake sale and someone bought a cupcake from that church. If the
church happened to log that sale with a unique number, say, S101, where S is the first
initial of the buyer and the number is a one up sales number, that church would then

that customer s identity. Other states have varying definitions as to what PII is. The
most robust PII protections in the country exist in the state of California, making PII
a protected right and allowing anyone that interacts with that data to appropriately

There exists many different definitions of PII and its applications and provisions are
as vast as there are states in the union. Later, an example of a
Analysis Of Lysistrata
In Aristophanes play Lysistrata, the plot is during the middle of the Peloponnesian
war. The title character Lysistrata, is a Athenian woman who has convened a
meeting with the women whose husbands are off fighting in the war. Lysistrata
arranges the meeting in order to propose a solution to ending the war which
includes the women withholding sex from their husbands. Initially, the women
don t like the idea of her plan but soon come to agree with her after realizing that it
may be the only way to get the men to stop fighting. All of the women then take an
oath and swear off sex until a peace treaty is signed. Lysistrata also plans to attack
and seize the nearby acropolis, which contains the Athenian treasury, in order to cut
off funding to the war. When the chorus of women go to the acropolis, they are met
by a chorus of men who have intentions of smoking the women out of it but the
women meet them with buckets of water. After multiple altercations with different
people in the men s chorus, one of the women s husbands shows up wanting to
have sex with his wife and she plays along with him, giving him the impression that
they re going to have sex but then soon runs back to the acropolis with the other
women. Upon their return, men from both the nearby cities as well as Sparta
realize that they have something in common: their wives are all withholding sex
from them and the conspiracy is international. Upon the realization of this, the men
decide to declare peace with one another and the story concludes with large
celebrations. A large portion of Aristophanes play relies heavily on the use of
women and sex in comedic ways. Aristophanes uses women to satirically undermine
the athenian government through the use of sexual comedy. Aristophanes portrays
women as irrational and lustful creatures. A large portion of the story relies heavily
on this idea as for it drives the idea as for it sets the tone for the mindset of the
women. The play begins with a misinterpretation between two characters, Calonice
and Lysistrata. Lysistrata arranges the meeting of women and Calonice is the first of
the women to show up. Calonice is curious as to why Lysistrata calls the meeting so
she then asks, CALONICE. Well, Lysistrata
Walt Disney Company Vs. Studio Ghibli

The Walt Disney Company vs. Studio Ghibli
What does a whistling mouse and a catlike bunny creature have in common? They are
both the logos of two leading animation companies: the Walt Disney Company and
Studio Ghibli. While Disney and Studio Ghibli vary in their style, production, and
overall themes, they both produce award winning and adventurous movies for
Western and Non Western audiences alike.
In 1928, the whistling Mickey Mouse in the short cartoon Steamboat Willie led to the
beginnings of success in Walt Disney s company and set the ball rolling for the
studio to become the widest known in the world (Holliss and Sibley 5). Before that,
the company was strained financially and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the directors of Studio Ghibli had in mind to meet these goals as well, they
founded the studio more to have free reign in their artistic visions for animated
movies. They wished to produce original anime movies(Takai). They on the other
hand aimed for just their home country Japan and came to more renown than they
intended.
Altogether Studio Ghibli and Disney have won many different
Therefore, Studio Ghibli s animations embody a strong sense of Japanese culture
while also using Western characters and settings in its productions (Odell and
Michelle 33 35). Each animation has the characteristic style of Anime or animations
made in Japan which usually looks like the manga, Japanese comic books, they are
adapted from. Each has their own look but usually the characters have bigger eyes,
small nose and mouth. The two directors of Studio Ghibli brought different themes
and genres of animation to the table. Hayao Miyazaki was preoccupied with
fantastical worlds hidden inside of our own world, flying machines or flying in
general, and environmentalism. Isao Takahata focused more on realistic settings such
as school life during adolescence and collaborated with Miyazaki to produce films
that had more themes such as, growing up, strong female lead characters, forming an
identity, animals with human characteristics and anti war sentiments (Odell and
Michelle 23 30). Disney in contrast, has
African Slaves And Slave Trade
Slaves and slave trade has been a paramount part of history for a very long time. In
the years of the British thirteen colonies in North America, slaves and slave trade
was a very consequential part of its development. It even carried on to virtually 200
years of Coalesced States history. The slave trade of the thirteen colonies was a
paramount part of the colonies as well as Europe and Africa. In order to supply the
thirteen colonies efficiently through trade, Europe developed the method of triangular
trade. It is referred to as triangular trade because it consists of trade with Africa, the
thirteen colonies, and England. The Triangular Exchange is a term used to depict the
exchange occurrence between Britain, Africa, and the Americas. The exchange fell
into the three portrayals. The grungy materials and run of the mill assets, for
example, sugar, tobacco, rice and cotton that were found in thirteen settlements

weapons, material, globules, and Slaves from West Africa, an overwhelming bundle
of whom works in the Slave Ranches.
In the sixteenth century, between Europe, Africa, and the Americas depicted the
ordinary world. Generally, this structure wound up being fundamental on an overall
scale path back in the sixteenth century, when European spaces made systems of
general exchange over the Atlantic Sea between the Americas, Europe, and Africa.
This triangular exchange is the way European areas
Essay on Galenic Medicine
To what extent was Galenic Medicine a part of the broader Aristotelian World View?
In this essay I will strive to show the extent upon which Galenic medicine was
incorporated in to the predominantly Aristotelian world view, concluding that
Aristotelian philosophies underpinned the majority of Galenic theories and concepts.
To achieve this I will primarily demonstrate the perceived link between medicine and
natural philosophy that existed at the time. I will continue with a description of the
Aristotelian Form, Matter and Substance theories, which formed the basis for the
Aristotelian world view. After considering the concepts that formed the Aristotelian
philosophy, form, matter and substance, I will take a closer look at the Galenic...

The form carries or provides qualities and bestowed them on objects to make them
what they were. Certain forms were subordinate to others and this created a hierarchy
of forms which resulted in a controlling or a noble form.[8] Matter is the thing which
takes on form. All change in the universe is the result of opposition between
contraries, in this case between the three primary principles of, privation, form and
matter . The theme of opposition between contraries ran through many Aristotelian
theories, such as the primary qualities. Matter lacked form and was suitable to
receiving all forms. Privation was simply the absence of form and the potentiality of
acquiring new form.[9] Through this process of privation, form and matter, elements
had the ability to transform in to each other, within Aristotle s elemental matter
theory. Form and matter cannot exist separately, although in thought they can be
considered as two separate things. The function of form was to, inform matter and
determine a particular kind, giving specificity and distinction from other kinds; and
finally to furnish and bring about all activities. [10] Matter, form and substance are
exemplified in the Aristotelian theory of elements, which was the basis of the
Galenic humoral theory. Aristotle believed all bodies and objects in the sub lunar
world, or the world beneath the moon, were made up of four elements or simple
bodies; Earth, Water,
The Seven Cities Of Cibola
Some people search for treasures that are never found. Others explore the world
looking for valuables till their deaths. In this case, explorers were looking for
something that was valuable to them. There are many known conspiracies and
various rumors about Cibola, the City of Gold, which was believed to be real, but
in reality, Cibola never existed. Subsequently, there were four expeditions that
searched for Cibola. There are journeys that were made, but were not told of what
had happened and when. Some of these expeditions ended in desperation, but for the
others, there are no known results. The seven cities of Cibola, are known to be a
Spanish legend which may have had its origins in an earlier legend which concerned

It was said that he was to have spoken fluent languages such as Arabic, Latin,
Spanish, and Portuguese; which brings to the conclusion that he would have been
highly educated. He was also known for being the black Arab from Azamour
(Geographicus Antique Map 2). It is not told how this expedition had ended;
making it the second attempt of looking for the City of Gold. The third attempt
was guided by Friar de Niza, who was forced to guide. Not only was Friar de Niza
called to lead, but also Estebanico had to guide. This would make Estebanico s
second trip in the search for Cibola. Their expedition started north of Mexico [in] the
present day states of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and parts of Kansas
(Early American History 1). As they were undertaking this task, Estebanico and
Marcos would not get along during the journey since they would fight over who
was the leader. During the expedition, Estebanico was known to be more of an
intermediary and a healer among the people. Correspondingly, making him known
to be the leader for he knew many languages and was the contact between the people
and himself. Estebancio also kept distance from the others, he would abandon the
soldiers and get ahead of them, leaving them behind. As it is known that he and Friar
de Niza never coped or had an agreement which made Estebanico disobey him
The Impact of Melting Ice Caps
The Impact of Melting Ice Caps
There is a large amount research demonstrating the impact of global warming on
our planet. As the overall temperature of the Earth increases, ice and snow masses
are melting. As more ice and snow is lost, the ocean s sea levels are rising.
Additionally with less ice and snow, less sun light is reflected into space and instead
it is absorbed by the planet. The continual absorption of the heat in sunlight gradually
warms the planet along with other factors. Therefore, the loss of ice caps, glaciers,
and snow is furthering the increase in the temperature of the planet.
The polar ice caps play an enormous role in regulating the Earth s temperature.
According to Montgomery (2008), polar ice reflects close to 90 percent of rays
from the sun back into space. However, our dark oceans only bounce back around
10 percent of solar radiation (Calvin, 2008). One of the most important properties
of that both ice and snow share is a very high albedo. Albedo is the amount of solar
radiation reflected from an object or a surface (Cousineau, 2011). As glaciers and
ice caps melt due to a process called thermal expansion, the tendency of matter to
change in volume as a response to a change in temperature (Archer, 2007), our
ocean s sea levels are rising at an extremely fast rate. Worldwide our sea levels have
risen 4 8 inches throughout the 20th century (Wunderground, 2013). With the loss of
ice caps and the gain of more water in our oceans less and
Nannocrystalline Zno Film Analysis
The formation of nanocrystalline ZnO films was confirmed by using X ray
diffraction. XRD patterns of simple glass substrate and ZnO coated glass substrates
were shown in figure 3(a) and (b d), respectively. The amorphous behavior of glass
substrate with a continuous curve ~20Лљ to 35Лљ in 2Оё range was depicted in
figure 3(a) and was clearly evidenced in ZnO coated substrates. A comparatively low
intensity and broadness in diffractionpeaks was observed in single layer deposited
ZnO thin film figure 3(b) , which revealed that film consist of coarse fine grains with
nanocrystallinity. It was observed that the peak intensities gradually increased from
triple figure 2(c) to five layers figure 2(d) deposited ZnO thin film and hence... Show

However in Rietveld refinement the peaks profile is fitted using Pseudo Voight
functions, which is linear combination of Gaussian and Lorentzian functions. The
internal strain (Оµ) may arise from the chemical reaction involved in the growth
process of ZnO films and having negligible effect on peak broadening. The
microstructural (crystallite size and lattice strain) and structural (lattice cell constants,
atomic positions and occupancies) parameters refinement was performed using the
space group P63mc. The values of the crystallite size, strain, and lattice parameter
obtained from the Rietveld refinement and Scherrer methods are shown in Table 1. In
table 1 the microstructural analysis shows the lattice parameters are well matched
lattice constants for the standard values of the hexagonal wurtzite structure of ZnO.
Furthermore, the variation of single to five layer coated ZnO film lattice parameters
a and c is remarkable, when compared with the standard ZnO, due to the complexity
of the hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure of ZnO and anisotropic variation in the
crystal lattice. As seen in Table 1, the ratio of the lattice parameters a/c is slightly
affected by deposition cycles. However, the unit cell volume of as prepared ZnO film
is decreased from 47.598 to 47.501 Г…3 with increasing the deposition cycle from
single to five cycles. The similar performance was observed for the Zn O bond
length (l) which decreases from 2.09 to 2.03A with increasing

  • 3. The Sun Rising The Sun Rising is a poem written by John Donne in the late 1590s consisting of 30 lines divided into three stanzas of 10 lines each following the rhyme scheme ABBACDCDEE. John Donne was a leading English poet of the Metaphysical school often considered as the greatest love poet in the English language. If we take into account the rhymes of each stanza, we may note that within a stanza, three units are being proposed : first of all the first unit of the stanza is composed of introverted rhymes following the rhymescheme ABBA, then the second unit of the stanza is composed of alternate rhymes following the rhyme scheme CDCD, finally the last unit is a couplet with the rhyme scheme EE. Locke states that by shedding the old chrysalis of the Negro problem [Blacks] are achieving something like a spiritual emancipation (Locke, p. 985). This emancipation is a liberation from the prejudices of the White man and the psychological segregation interpreted from social discrimination. • 6. The Story Of Christianity s Rise Of Prominence The story of Christianity s rise to prominence is often spoken of, however, the struggles and persecution that Christians originally faced during the Romanic times seem to always be forgotten. The Romans viewed Christianity as a threat to the emperor and the empire due to their actions that were believed to go against the Roman way of life. Although the act of being a Christian stood as being completely legal, the Romans viewed Christianity as being hardly innocent, and in fact deemed it necessary to act upon their heinous way of being. Through Pliny s letter to Trajan, Res Gestae Divi Augusti, and the Roman s understanding of the Lord s Prayer, it becomes more understandable why the Romans felt threatened by Christianity. Although it does not justify their actions, the Romans did have some logic behind their claims against Christianity. Pliny the Younger, the governor of Bithynia at the time, wrote a well renowned letter to Trajan, the Emperor of Rome. Pliny reached out to Trajan for counsel over the Christians. Pliny received anonymous accusations against Christians that accused Christians of wrong doings, and Pliny himself had never participated in a trial of Christians before. Pliny asks Trajan for guidance on three things initially. He asks whether the age of the Christian should be a factor, whether a Christian should be pardoned if they repent, and if the name of being a Christian is simply a crime, or only the offenses that follow from being a Christian are.

  • 8. Misinterpretation and Its Consequences Julius Caesar Theme Analysis Essay Misinterpretations are the root of all tragedies, especially Julius Caesar. They have severe consequences like the loss of innocent lives, conflicts between friends, all the way to our inability to discern our friends from our foes. Each of these misinterpreting concepts is demonstrated in Julius Caesar . Cinna the poet s death, Brutus s betrayal, and Cassius s misunderstanding of Titinius s death are all scenarios that portray the theme of misinterpretation and its severe consequences. First of all, the most important misinterpretation in this play is Caesar s relationship with Brutus. For example, Caesar is dependent on Brutus as his utmost loyal companion, but in the end, Brutus ends up killing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another misinterpretation happened between Cinna the Conspirator and Cinna the Poet. For example, Cinna, the poet, was killed because the public thought he was the conspirator. Unfortunately, the public got the poet and the conspirator confused, and because of that misunderstanding and misinterpretation, an innocent life was lost. In addition, the conspirator Cinna was also misinterpreted as a friend by Caesar, when in reality; he was Brutus s accomplice in his tragic conspiracy. In the end, the misinterpretation of circumstances and people led to the killing of the innocent poet, Cinna. Even the people, who betray others, fall prey to the destructive misinterpretations themselves. For example, Cassius who betrayed Caesar, was mislead into believing that Titinius was dead, and because he could not take the weight of this sorrow, he killed himself. However this was a big misinterpretation because Titinius was not really dead...Cassius had received the wrong message. Misinterpretations are liable to happen to everyone, and their consequences are tragic. None the less, whether it is the misinterpretation of circumstances, people, or events, the result is always destructive. The way Julius Caesar trusted Brutus, but was betrayed by him shows that people aren t really what they seem. In addition, the misinterpretation of names and people can cause the downfall of innocents as well, like the way Cinna the Poet was killed.

With a background in hazardous waste as well as chemical safety, the writer was able to use her previous education to add facts and statistics to the paper. As well as using satire to convey her message, Saukko demonstrates the use of chronological order, vivid word choice, as well as using a substantial amount of sarcasm throughout her response. The use of chronological order throughout the paper, allowed the author to describe step by step the long and grim process that it would take to poison the earth. Saukko first describes the varying chemicals that are available to us today, that could severely impact the earth. The author then continues to describe a method in which one would use to literally inject the earth with toxins. The second to last approach that Saukko describes is to pollute the waters, water makes up 70% of our earth s composition, so poisoning it would largely affect the people as well as the outer surface of our planet. Currently, Texas is the boldest Republican state in the country. For so long it was Democrat and strongly so but it has been Republican now since the nineties. The big question surrounding this topic is what happened to make it flip suddenly? Well, research provided a very strong answer that I didn t expect to find. In 1988 two people were voted in that changed everything for Republicans; Kent Hance and Judge Thomas Phillips were the first republicans voted in since the Reconstruction. This kick started a Republican makeover of the state that all through the nineties Texans saw Republicans overtaking Democrats in every area. To understand how this went down in the nineties there must be an examination of the past. The Democratic party was the face of Texas for a century until the Republicans came back stronger than ever. First and foremost, Texas was not colonized by British settlers. This has always made it stand out as a fiercely independent territory then later a state. The individuals who shaped and formed Texas did so in such a way to hold tightly onto its fierce independence. This fierce independence was fueled throughout the first several decades of Texas existence due to invading foreign armies and the daily struggles of just surviving in the Wild West. Because of this, the people of Texas developed strong work ethics and a

Hummingbirds are extremely small and their muscles for flight are highly oxygen dependent and require large amounts of energy. Hummingbirds are one of the smallest endotherms and any energetic output can be metabolically stressful. The hummingbirds small body size means that they have very little room for energy storage and therefore often endure energetic and metabolic stresses. Hummingbirds have also evolved a unique relationship with some plants which have evolved specializations such as bright coloration and large petals in order to entice hummingbird to feed from them. These specialized flowers do supply nectar in each flower; however, these plants will allow the hummingbird to meet its nutritional requirements in one visit, and by doing so hummingbirds are forced to visit many flowers and in turn are cross pollinating the flowering plants. This behavior has allowed for a close mutualism to evolve between these specialized plants and hummingbirds. (Welch Suarez 2008). Flight adaptations Hummingbird feeding behaviour has evolved so that they hover in flight, however due to this behaviour they have lost the ability to use their feet which now only serve for perching. (Lotz, Nicolson 1996). They compensate for this devolution by alternating their wing angle during flight which in turn has allowed them to use less energetic output during flight (Gass Garrison 1999). Another adaptation that hummingbirds have evolved to allow them to hover in midair is the rate at which they flap their wings. This unique flying behaviour has created specific skeletal and flight muscle adaptations such as a large keel and rigid weight bearing girdles which allows for greater muscle attachment from wing to abdomen and in turn an increase

Here are a few things to try that don t cost much more than some time and labor. Use A Pressure Washer As wood ages, it turns a drab gray color naturally. What you may not know is the gray color is usually just on the surface. That s because the top layer oxidizes as it is exposed to the environment. The protected wood in deeper layers still has it s original color. You can blast away the top layer of gray with a pressure washer. Lebron James is currently in his 14th season in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He spent his first seven seasons playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, just 39 miles from his hometown, Akron. After the 2009 2010 NBA season, James decided not to resign his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers and instead sign a contract with the Miami Heat. This decision led to James joining forces with other NBA superstars such as Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, and Ray Allen. Since Dee is older she is viewed wiser, a full grown woman, and not a child anymore. Dee is full of experiences due to college and age. The story represents the era of The Black Power Movement and with this era, Dee has carried of new attitude of being liberated and not oppressed by others who feel superior. In that period, many African Americans, disappointed by the failure of integration, gravitated to the philosophy of cultural nationalism as the means to achieve liberation (Christian 492). • 28. Human Distribution Patterns Of Acacia Saligna Abstract Distribution patterns of Acacia saligna are quite diverse in South Africa especially taking under consideration that they do not have immediate threats that inhibit their spread. However, this species occurs in very different environmental gradients, as it can occur from a wet habitat/area to a bare rock surface that is a very dry habitat. Due to such observations for the distribution of this species a question is imposed in this paper as to how do traits vary along environmental gradients? Two phenotypic traits/characteristics are investigated, Specific Leaf Area (SLA) and wood density. SLA was calculated by adding the total sum of all the leaf area per individual and dividing that with the total sum of all the leaf dry mass per individual. SLA = Total leaf area/ Dry leaf mass, SLA unit g/cmВІ. The highest value for SLA is at the dry site, intermediate in wet site and lowest in the ultra dry site. The wood density for branch and stem samples was calculated using the latest dry mass value/ volume. Wood density unit measure is g/cmВі. The stem wood density was highest at the ultra dry site, followed by wet site and then the dry site. Branch wood density was highest at the dry site, intermediate at ultra dry site and lowest at the wet site. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reasons for this are varied. One of the major factors that prevent full federal protection is that states have broad ways of defining what is considered personally identifiable information. For instance, take a state like Connecticut: their state laws consider an account number as a personal identifier (Wright, 2009). Let s say a church sponsored a bake sale and someone bought a cupcake from that church. If the church happened to log that sale with a unique number, say, S101, where S is the first initial of the buyer and the number is a one up sales number, that church would then fall under the provisions of the Connecticut state law and may be required to protect that customer s identity. Other states have varying definitions as to what PII is. The most robust PII protections in the country exist in the state of California, making PII a protected right and allowing anyone that interacts with that data to appropriately protect and reasonably notify affected people of any potential security breaches (Wikipedia, n.d.). There exists many different definitions of PII and its applications and provisions are as vast as there are states in the union. Later, an example of a
  • 42. Analysis Of Lysistrata In Aristophanes play Lysistrata, the plot is during the middle of the Peloponnesian war. The title character Lysistrata, is a Athenian woman who has convened a meeting with the women whose husbands are off fighting in the war. Lysistrata arranges the meeting in order to propose a solution to ending the war which includes the women withholding sex from their husbands. Initially, the women don t like the idea of her plan but soon come to agree with her after realizing that it may be the only way to get the men to stop fighting. All of the women then take an oath and swear off sex until a peace treaty is signed. Lysistrata also plans to attack and seize the nearby acropolis, which contains the Athenian treasury, in order to cut off funding to the war. When the chorus of women go to the acropolis, they are met by a chorus of men who have intentions of smoking the women out of it but the women meet them with buckets of water. After multiple altercations with different people in the men s chorus, one of the women s husbands shows up wanting to have sex with his wife and she plays along with him, giving him the impression that they re going to have sex but then soon runs back to the acropolis with the other women. Upon their return, men from both the nearby cities as well as Sparta realize that they have something in common: their wives are all withholding sex from them and the conspiracy is international. Upon the realization of this, the men decide to declare peace with one another and the story concludes with large celebrations. A large portion of Aristophanes play relies heavily on the use of women and sex in comedic ways. Aristophanes uses women to satirically undermine the athenian government through the use of sexual comedy. Aristophanes portrays women as irrational and lustful creatures. A large portion of the story relies heavily on this idea as for it drives the idea as for it sets the tone for the mindset of the women. The play begins with a misinterpretation between two characters, Calonice and Lysistrata. Lysistrata arranges the meeting of women and Calonice is the first of the women to show up. Calonice is curious as to why Lysistrata calls the meeting so she then asks, CALONICE. Well, Lysistrata

The form carries or provides qualities and bestowed them on objects to make them what they were. Certain forms were subordinate to others and this created a hierarchy of forms which resulted in a controlling or a noble form.[8] Matter is the thing which takes on form. All change in the universe is the result of opposition between contraries, in this case between the three primary principles of, privation, form and matter . The theme of opposition between contraries ran through many Aristotelian theories, such as the primary qualities. Matter lacked form and was suitable to receiving all forms. Privation was simply the absence of form and the potentiality of acquiring new form.[9] Through this process of privation, form and matter, elements had the ability to transform in to each other, within Aristotle s elemental matter theory. Form and matter cannot exist separately, although in thought they can be considered as two separate things. The function of form was to, inform matter and determine a particular kind, giving specificity and distinction from other kinds; and finally to furnish and bring about all activities. • 46. The Seven Cities Of Cibola Some people search for treasures that are never found. Others explore the world looking for valuables till their deaths. In this case, explorers were looking for something that was valuable to them. There are many known conspiracies and various rumors about Cibola, the City of Gold, which was believed to be real, but in reality, Cibola never existed. Subsequently, there were four expeditions that searched for Cibola. There are journeys that were made, but were not told of what had happened and when. Some of these expeditions ended in desperation, but for the others, there are no known results. The seven cities of Cibola, are known to be a Spanish legend which may have had its origins in an earlier legend which concerned the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was said that he was to have spoken fluent languages such as Arabic, Latin, Spanish, and Portuguese; which brings to the conclusion that he would have been highly educated. He was also known for being the black Arab from Azamour (Geographicus Antique Map 2). It is not told how this expedition had ended; making it the second attempt of looking for the City of Gold. The third attempt was guided by Friar de Niza, who was forced to guide. Not only was Friar de Niza called to lead, but also Estebanico had to guide. This would make Estebanico s second trip in the search for Cibola. Their expedition started north of Mexico [in] the present day states of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and parts of Kansas (Early American History 1). As they were undertaking this task, Estebanico and Marcos would not get along during the journey since they would fight over who was the leader. During the expedition, Estebanico was known to be more of an intermediary and a healer among the people. Correspondingly, making him known to be the leader for he knew many languages and was the contact between the people and himself. Estebancio also kept distance from the others, he would abandon the soldiers and get ahead of them, leaving them behind. As it is known that he and Friar de Niza never coped or had an agreement which made Estebanico disobey him
  • 47. The Impact of Melting Ice Caps The Impact of Melting Ice Caps There is a large amount research demonstrating the impact of global warming on our planet. As the overall temperature of the Earth increases, ice and snow masses are melting. As more ice and snow is lost, the ocean s sea levels are rising. Additionally with less ice and snow, less sun light is reflected into space and instead it is absorbed by the planet. The continual absorption of the heat in sunlight gradually warms the planet along with other factors. Therefore, the loss of ice caps, glaciers, and snow is furthering the increase in the temperature of the planet. The polar ice caps play an enormous role in regulating the Earth s temperature. According to Montgomery (2008), polar ice reflects close to 90 percent of rays from the sun back into space. However, our dark oceans only bounce back around 10 percent of solar radiation (Calvin, 2008). One of the most important properties of that both ice and snow share is a very high albedo. Albedo is the amount of solar radiation reflected from an object or a surface (Cousineau, 2011). As glaciers and ice caps melt due to a process called thermal expansion, the tendency of matter to change in volume as a response to a change in temperature (Archer, 2007), our ocean s sea levels are rising at an extremely fast rate. Worldwide our sea levels have risen 4 8 inches throughout the 20th century (Wunderground, 2013). With the loss of ice caps and the gain of more water in our oceans less and
  • 48. Nannocrystalline Zno Film Analysis The formation of nanocrystalline ZnO films was confirmed by using X ray diffraction. XRD patterns of simple glass substrate and ZnO coated glass substrates were shown in figure 3(a) and (b d), respectively. The amorphous behavior of glass substrate with a continuous curve ~20Лљ to 35Лљ in 2Оё range was depicted in figure 3(a) and was clearly evidenced in ZnO coated substrates. A comparatively low intensity and broadness in diffractionpeaks was observed in single layer deposited ZnO thin film figure 3(b) , which revealed that film consist of coarse fine grains with nanocrystallinity. It was observed that the peak intensities gradually increased from triple figure 2(c) to five layers figure 2(d) deposited ZnO thin film and hence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However in Rietveld refinement the peaks profile is fitted using Pseudo Voight functions, which is linear combination of Gaussian and Lorentzian functions. The internal strain (Оµ) may arise from the chemical reaction involved in the growth process of ZnO films and having negligible effect on peak broadening. The microstructural (crystallite size and lattice strain) and structural (lattice cell constants, atomic positions and occupancies) parameters refinement was performed using the space group P63mc. The values of the crystallite size, strain, and lattice parameter obtained from the Rietveld refinement and Scherrer methods are shown in Table 1. In table 1 the microstructural analysis shows the lattice parameters are well matched lattice constants for the standard values of the hexagonal wurtzite structure of ZnO. Furthermore, the variation of single to five layer coated ZnO film lattice parameters a and c is remarkable, when compared with the standard ZnO, due to the complexity of the hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure of ZnO and anisotropic variation in the crystal lattice. As seen in Table 1, the ratio of the lattice parameters a/c is slightly affected by deposition cycles. However, the unit cell volume of as prepared ZnO film is decreased from 47.598 to 47.501 Г…3 with increasing the deposition cycle from single to five cycles. The similar performance was observed for the Zn O bond length (l) which decreases from 2.09 to 2.03A with increasing
