Writing an essay on the topic of "Samples of an Argumentative Essay" can be a challenging task
that requires a thoughtful approach and a deep understanding of the subject matter. The
difficulty lies in the need to present a compelling argument while also adhering to the
conventions of academic writing.
Firstly, selecting appropriate samples to support your argument requires thorough research and
critical analysis. You must sift through various sources, identifying relevant and credible
examples that effectively strengthen your stance. This demands time and effort to ensure that
your essay is well-supported and convincing.
Crafting a coherent and logical structure is another hurdle in writing on this topic. Ensuring that
your essay has a clear introduction, body paragraphs with well-organized arguments, and a
strong conclusion is essential for effective communication. Achieving this cohesion can be
challenging, especially when dealing with complex and multifaceted issues.
Moreover, balancing the presentation of opposing viewpoints is crucial in an argumentative
essay. Acknowledging counterarguments and refuting them requires a nuanced understanding of
the topic. Striking this balance adds depth to your essay but also demands a high level of
analytical and critical thinking.
The challenge extends to language proficiency and writing style. Expressing ideas clearly and

2. Personal Identity by Derek Parfit
In his 1971 paper Personal Identity , Derek Parfit posits that it is possible and
indeed desirable to free important questions from presuppositions about personal
identity without losing all that matters. In working out how to do so, Parfit comes to
the conclusion that the question about identity has no importance (Parfit, 1971, p.
4.2:3). In this essay, I will attempt to show that Parfit s thesis is a valid one, with
positive implications for human behaviour. The first section of the essay will
examine the thesis in further detail and the second will assess how Parfit s claims
fare in the face of criticism.

4.2:7), we should abandon the language of identity. Therefore, for cases in which we
are unable to speak of identity (because the psychological continuity relation is not
one one), psychological continuity will be just as important as identity.
The problem with psychological continuity, however, is that many of the relations
involved (including memory relations) appear to presuppose identity. Parfit attempts
to avoid this charge of circularity by using the concept of q memory. Q memories do
not presume that the person having the q memory and the person who actually had
the experience are the same person, unlike ordinary memories which do presuppose
identity. Parfit applies this same redesription to other relations of psychological
continuity such as intention and responsibility.
Parfit returns to the idea of the importance of the psychological continuity relation in
survival to introduce an even more important relation psychological connectedness .
Psychological connectedness is a kind of direct psychological continuity. It is not
transitive as it requires the holding of direct psychological relations (Parfit, 1971, p.
4.2:13). This contrasts with psychological continuity which is transitive because it
only requires overlapping chains of direct psychological relations (Parfit, 1971,
p.4.2:13). The relation of psychological connectedness is more important for Parfit
than that of psychological continuity A person should

1.3%, and Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders are .2% (United, 2016).
Enrollment for minority college students has been increasing (Krogstad Fry, 2014).
From 1996 2012, college enrollment among Hispanics ages 18 24, has increase
240% and African American enrollment has increase 72% (Krogstad Fry, 2014).
Racial/ethnic minority college students are often faced with unique stressors, such as
minority status stress (Cokley, McClain, Enciso, Martinez (2013).
Minority status stress is caused by factors such as racism, discrimination, educational
hegemony, microaggressions, and feelings of not belonging on a college campus
(Cokley, et al., 2013).
Minority status stress can lead to imposter feelings, which has been linked to negative
mental health concerns, such as depression (Cokley, et al., 2013).
According to the 2007 2008 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study, the college
remediation rate for Hispanics/Latinxs was 43% and 41% for African Americans

Sports, celebrities, musicians, animals, and other things are composed of a
specific group called fans. Every fan has different expectations about a specific
topic. The popularity is based on their fans because without fans they would be
nothing. We can talk about thousands of fans and their influencers, but there is a
specific one that affects the world. Soccer is a game that with a simple whistle
creates a wave of emotions. Soccer fans are one of the most extended groups of
fanatics in the world. Absolutely, there are some haters about this sport. People
running behind a simple ball that is ridiculous, they said. Soccer fans do not care
because there is more than just a simple ball. There are many traits that need to be
part of your life as a lover of soccer. According to many soccer fans, these are some
of the most important characteristics of the best fans in the world. You need to be a
fan of a specific club in the world. The team can be from your own country or a
foreign team. You can have more than one team from another league, but you need
to have your favorite team. The team that you are going to love forever. Every fan
in the world has at least one team to support. This can be international teams
because you need to support your country. You will love forever your country that it

Freedom Writers, a movie based on the book The Freedom Writers Diary by
teacher Erin Gruwell, is a dramatic movie written and directed by Richard
LaGravenese starring Hilary Swank, Scott Glenn, Imelda Staunton and Patrick
Dempsey. Freedom writer s main purpose is to provide quality lessons that could
benefit viewers and deliver some of the insights on living a better life. The whole
story takes place at Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in the Eastside
neighborhood of Long Beach, California which implemented an integration program
to host students of different races and backgrounds. Choosing to be a teacher where
classrooms are made of diversified students and different mentalities, Mrs. Gruwell,

She put her personal life at risk and got a divorce, but on the other hand lighted the
ways of hopeless students who had no chance but to sink in the negative waves of
racism and endless fights. The movie Freedom Writers presents a sensitive case of
students coming from low socioeconomic status, and different backgrounds having
to face being together in the same classroom in a time where the Latinos hate the
black and the black hates the white who hates both the Latinos and the black and
so on. In a time where everyone had to stand for their own , a white teacher chose
to be part of change, and to enhance her student s lives overcoming all racial and
identity problems, and the risk of getting shot every day. As a teacher, the mission
wasn t as smooth as it was supposed to be. If it weren t for her intelligence and
patience, she couldn t have done the work, and successfully reached her goal. In
this world, where facing diverse learners had become a normal thing, it is the
school s role and the teacher s in specific to deal with diversities, and deliver a
quality education to all students. And when racism and identity play a major role in
society, both students and the teacher will be exposed to an extra load of pressure,
and more responsibility in the case of the teacher, to cleverly solve the issue with
minimum risks and

Before last night s struggle in Detroit, the Texas Rangers had won 7 of 8 games
since finishing off a series in Minnesota against the fellow Wild Card Contending

The Rangers enter tonight s second game of four in Detroit in great need of a win.

the playoff hunt. After this series the Rangers will face Toronto and Baltimore,

9. America By Tony Hoagland Summary
In the poem America, by Tony Hoagland, the idea of Americans being consumed
with their money is shown using symbolism and metaphors. The speaker in this
poem is a teacher whose name is never mentioned. One thing revealed in the poem is
that the speaker has a father who is presumably very wealthy and successful. One of
the teacher s students compares America to a maximum security prison. A recurring
theme throughout America is Hoagland showing examples of America s greedy
society using a teacher, student, and a father s experiences. Using metaphors of
money and symbols of rivers filled with merchandise, Tony Hoagland captures how
the teacher begins to think after he hears his student compare America to a maximum
security prison.
Throughout the poem the speaker mentions things that relate to consumerism in
America. An example in the poem that speaks about consumerism comes from lines 1

In most American societies the economies are run by food chains, and stores.
Consumerism is brought up in this quote because Americans live off of (or used
to) Radio Shack, Burger King, and MTV. Burger King is one of the cheapest places
someone could eat at. For people that are not making tons of money, Burger King is
a a very cheap meal for a family. It

ABSTRACT
Contingency planning is an effective back up plan to any situation that requires an
alternative course of action for the outcome of a common goal. There are several
steps involved in contingency planning and these steps prepare for the strategic
planning process to come to full effectiveness for a facility. A full plan for a facility
allows for immediate resolutions for managing and addressing the issues as they
come into view or if markers are assigned to allow for a sense of prior knowledge.

This can be where the assessment of capitalization and the estimation of a reduction
can be garnered. Readiness maintains lead time. By knowing what is apparent and
what to do to counteract the situation keep an organization ahead of the curve. As
the competition may be heating up, the organization may be in close trends with
growth and opportunity. Implementation requires preparedness. By issuing a gap
analysis and action plan can be identified. This may require a change in the standard
operating procedures of the organization. With markers and triggers, there can be a
development of early warnings and alerts. This can put a giant foothold on the
prospects of future developments. Being prepared for events can allow for the
logistics and human resources to understand the direct role they must adhere to and
allow forward movement of resource mobilization. By training and simulating events,
the organization is better prepared for the drastic changes that may come into effect
to keep operations running smoothly. This will come to fruition through
communications and linkage of departments in a common goal. With a continuous
review, there can be changes made to update and evaluate the plan and how it is
working. Evaluation can be done in real time and a response can be made that is
rational and will avoid panic. By exercising backup plans with practice drills as they
are compiled, an organization can identify some shortcomings to better
11. Comparing Buried Life And Eliot s The Love Song Of J.
Arnold s The Buried Life and Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock both
address the relationships between a male speaker and women. They both literature
pieces revolve around the theme of individual isolation and alienation. Both
speakers are faced with an obstacle that they are trying to find an answer too, but
can t seem to find it. The Love Song of T. Alfred Prufrock is a poem in which the
speaker faces an alienation from self. The first two lines start as a romantic poem. In
the third line, he describes the patient etherized which he is implying that the person
is deprived of feelings. In other words, it s a person without feelings. Then he talks
about walking through the empty streets and going to cheap night hotels and... Show

He attends the tea parties and interacts with people, but it s through a false identity
that he is able to accomplish that. He lacks the courage to ask the question to
women because of fear. Through Prufrock, we can see that people have ultimately
become isolated and lonely as a result of modern society. Another poem that shows
alienation is The Buried Life by Mathew Arnold s. In the first stanza, the speaker is
watching the way people hide their emotions from each other. The speaker
elaborates on how society is reluctant to share profound ideas and emotions with
one another. This stanza reflects the way people are made to hide who they are
from one another; hiding the same thoughts and feelings that those around them
feel but, are also unable to share. At the beginning of the poem the speaker starts by
offering a very visual image. The speaker s eyes are wet because of his tears. His
eyes have tears because he feels a deep sadness which he cannot describe hence I
feel a nameless sadness o er me roll. The speaker knows that we can just jest, that
we can smile! yet there is something uneasy about it. Yes, they can joke around and
smile, but there is something in his breast that is telling him that there is something
missing. This emptiness cannot be filled with mere words. He then turns his eyes to
his beloved one in a last minute attempt to try to read her soul with his clear eyes.
This is the first
12. The Rise Of Asymmetric Warfare
Question: Analyze the rise of asymmetric warfare. Provide illustrations and assess
how it has reshaped behaviors and outcomes.
The asymmetry in asymmetric warfare is an inherently relational concept. It refers to
an irregular conflict that is distinct by the relative dissimilarity between opponents in
battle. The asymmetry is derived from the character of warfare and dictated by the
difference in relational power amid warring sides. This asymmetry has tended to be
in terms of status and organization; means and resources, goals and objectives; and
strategies and tactics. The relationship between the belligerents in almost all conflicts
has varied in many tactical, strategic and operational levels.
A popular perception of today claims that there has been a relatively recent rise in
asymmetric warfare, or conventional irregular warfare that has transformed war from
a customary and symmetric exercise into an irregular, avant garde, asymmetric
experience. This perception is inherently at the foundation of the question in which
this essay attempts to respond. In contrast with this perspective, the main argument of
this essay is that asymmetric warfare, although definitely a characteristic of the times
is not a new genus of warfare that has risen in the twentieth century as a distinct
revolution in military affairs. Furthermore, asymmetric warfare cannot be used as a
description to describe deviation from Western norms in this case conflict. Rather,
asymmetric warfare

Early in 1942, Johnston met with Major General Clayton B. Vogel, the commanding

who dreams of escaping to somewhere over the rainbow without troubles and

Hamilton). During a tornado she is hit on the head and is transported to the World of

Oz is shot in bright and vibrant colours, which pertains to the idea of a magical
land that appears very opposed to the dull and colourless real world of Kansas,
assisting on taking the viewer on the journey over the rainbow . This goal oriented
plot in The Wizard of Oz follows a pattern of development that encourages the
viewer to expect Dorothy to reach her desired goal. The viewer then sees each action
of Dorothy s to be a progress of this desire to go home to Kansas.
The film is brought to a climax when the Dorothy and her friends return to visit the
Wizard after destroying the Wicked Witch of the West, of which he had requested.
During this scene it is revealed that the Wizard is in fact a fraud, an ordinary but
clever man who although as no powers, still fulfils the expectations of the story. He
gives Scarecrow, Tinman and the Cowardly Lion the answers they seek by giving
them the self confidence to recognise they had the qualities which they were looking
for all along and he presents them with some token external symbols to represent this.
In the final scenes and formal resolution of the film, which is shot in sepia tones
creating a parallelism with Kansas on the opening scene, Dorothy attains her goal of
returning home, waking up in her own bedroom surrounded by friends and family
from her real life, therefore fulfilling the
16. The Suez Canal Crisis
Though widely acknowledged as one of the smaller incidents of the Eisenhower
Presidency, the Suez Canal Crisis did not only present one of the most concerning
existential threats during the 1950s, it became a crucial turning point for U.S.
foreign policy in the Middle East. Beyond that, this crisis bucked the hundred year
old status quo of Britain s monopoly of power in the region. Due to the large flow of
cross currents occurring at the same time, such as Egypts engagements with the
Soviet Union, the British and French reactive policy to losing a foothold in the
region, and Israel s unwillingness to agree to a cease fire, U.S. foreign policy rather
than military intervention expressed the genuine efforts of the Eisenhower
administration to combat the threat of international communism and the
consequences of those efforts. In the past, the understanding of the Suez CanalCrisis
has largely been based from Egyptian and British viewpoints. However, in 2010 the
Office of the Historian in the U.S. Department of State released hundreds of recently
declassified documents made available to the public. Leading expert on the
Eisenhower Presidency, Dr. David Nichols, meticulously combed through these to
document the day by day, and often minute by minute, decisions made on behalf of
the Eisenhower administration during the duration of the Suez Crisis. After doing so,
Dr. Nichols argues in his book, Eisenhower 1956: The President s Year of Crisis, that

17. Essay on Abuse of Power in Catch-22
The Abuse of Power Exposed in Catch 22
In 1955, Joseph Heller wrote Catch 22. The story takes place on a small island in
the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Italy. As the story progresses, it follows the
actions of a man named Yosarrian and his companions in his squadron. Many of the
men begin with high rank and others are promoted throughout the novel. As these
men come into power, one of Heller s themes is explicitly shown; as men achieve
power, they become compelled to abuse it.
The story begins with Yosarrian in a hospital. He is there with a pain in his liver that
fell just short of being jaundice. The doctors were puzzled by the fact that it wasn t

want. The problem is that they are able to. As doctors, they are assumed to be
trustworthy people, but they abuse that trust and use their position of power to do as
they please.
One of the most incompetent men in the outfit is Colonel Cathcart. He is a man
who is obsessed with improving his own rank at any cost, including the lives of the
men he commands. Throughout the story, Colonel Cathcart tries to think up of
schemes that could get his picture in The Saturday Evening Post. Maybe if we say
prayers, they ll put my picture in The Saturday Evening Post (188). Throughout the
novel, Colonel Cathcart also raises the number of missions needed to go home. He
does this to make his unit look superior to others. He has no regard for the lives of
his men, he only thinks of himself. Men like Colonel Cathcart become corrupt with
power and crave more of it. They abuse their high rank to promote themselves. They
are willing to sacrifice almost anything to make a small gain in power.

18. Canoeing In Canad A Brief Textual Analysis
I know from experience the fear and terror that struck my eyes when canoeing
down a lake in Canada. A few years ago back in 2014 I went camping in Canada,
but this is not just any sort of camping trip, with a nice rustic log cabin fitted with
WiFi to make your camping experience more pleasurable . No,no,no, this was REAL
camping. Miles and miles away from any sort of any human civilization with no
more supplies than what you bring on your back. This was a canoeingbackpacking
trip meaning my family and I rented a few vessels (canoes) and brought all our
supplies on our backs to be carried and shipped the entirety of the trip. Did I mention
that the distance of this trip was close to seventy miles?
I first arrived in Canada excited to be put into pure nature and experience the first

water on the shore our water filter would have got clogged with a bunch of scum).
It was a pretty windy day this day and normally I wouldn t think too much of it, and

Little did I know what such mild winds can do to affect the current of the water.
We rowed as hard and as fast as we would yet were barely moving, the thought of
being blown away was not a happy thought. I dug down deep and gave the rowing
everything I had. We slowly began making progress inching towards back to the
island we were staying on. Finally, we were

directly to our understanding of genre . However, what is genre? Drawing on the
knowledge of key theorists and critics such as Steve Neale and Barry Langford this
essay will first attempt to define genre and our understanding of it before focusing on
how genre relates to the audiences view and interpretation of films. It will also touch
upon the historical contexts of genre, and how genre helps the film industry create
films and their interpretation of film. An interpretation that differs in a number of
ways to that of an audience s due to their goals being different thanks to the ways
they view film. Before we can begin to delve into how genre relates to the way we as
an audience view and interpret films, we must first attempt to define and understand
what the term genre means when relating it to the film industry, in particular
Hollywood.
Genre is a simple French word meaning type and therefore when taking this simple,
direct approach we can see genre as a type of film or films such as a comedy ,
which has the association, in many cases, with humour. However, this approach
generates large conflicting ideals within set genres . It provides the understanding
that genre has fixed boundaries that cannot be pushed to allow for flexibility in a
films direction. An example of this can

Xiao Ke portrays a number of diseases as it illustrates a Triple Heater (San Jiao)
imbalance, affecting primarily the Lungs, Spleen, and the Kidneys. The Triple
Heater mechanism distributes Qi into the organs, and deposits essential Qi into the

Heater process, the heat dries up the water, then consuming the zang fu organs,
creating many complications. Therefore, to treat the internal organs, you must first
treat the San Jiao. The objective of this paper is to explore Xiao Ke in relation to the
San Jiao, and how it encompasses AIDs/HIV and the Chinese Medicine treatment

Indigestion leads to food hardening and retention in the middle burner, causing
weight gain. The result is heat, which enters the Triple Heater, affecting all of the

Soul Surfer is an inspirational film. It is filled with drama that turns the audiences
world upside down. Grasping humanity, the movie pulls it in and transforms it into
something beautiful. It is founded on a true story about Bethany Hamilton, who lost
her arm during a vicious shark attack. Sean McNamara, the director, planned to film
the movie shortly after the attackin 2003. Seven years from the plot of storyline, it
premiered in theaters in April 2011 as a PG movie. Its purpose was to inform
viewers that all things are possible. In the movie Sean presents that, people can

This word, soul, is depicted by Sean as a symbolism of Hamilton s beliefs as a
Christian and her passion for surfing.
Evaluating the film, one may find it is organized into numerous themes such as:
love, trust, family, following your dreams, and Christianity. These themes happen to
be a strong points in this movie because they all this should be valued. Love is
presented through the help of family and friends after the shark attack, the
community members that welcomed Bethany home, and the help the youth group
showed on their mission trip. During that mission trip, they had to learn to trust her
when she offered help. In addition, Bethany had to put her trust in God with her
current situation. At first, she was shaky and a little uneasy about it all, but soon
she came to know that her faith is all that she really needed. Family is a big theme
in this movie, considering it was the foundation in which Bethany was rooted. They
were there for her to support her, and help her when she needed them. Although
there is no perfect family, we also know how important family is. Additionally, this
movie taught that we have to overcome obstacles to achieve our dreams. Everyone
has a dream, but few take the necessary to make it come true. Where an individual is
from or what they encounter in life cannot stop a dream from coming true. All

document. Under LogCap III and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), KBR built and
maintained the majority of U.S. military bases in Iraq. In terms of the value chain
disaggregation, the focus of this paper will be on the maintenance of housing and
facilities for U.S. military personnel in the Iraqi theater of operation.
Value ChainConsiderations
In terms of LogCap III, to achieve sustainable competitive advantage, KBR must
disaggregate the value chain and focus on activities affecting cost, price, or both in
relation to the services offered by competitive rivals (Porte, 1985). Wherever
possible, KBR should focus on differentiation by providing value through a unique
mix of services. For example, economies of scale, achieved through the value ... Show

Inbound logistics Property and materials are the lifeline for the continuing operations
of base camps. Tangible assets are considered to be property. Tangible property may
include vehicles, tools, generators, sanitation, sleeping containers, coolers for food
and many other items. Materials include consumables that are used to sustain day to
day activities to complete the mission. Property and material must be accounted for
throughout the materials life cycle. Consequently, from the time a purchase order is
generated through consumption of materials, or disposition for property, each items
must be tracked through the approved system of record.

oversees the operations of the base camp. The site manager coordinates KBR s
services with the Mayors Cell. In terms of O M, all service requests are initiated
through the Service Desk controlled by operations.
3.Outbound logistics In a war zone, outbound operations are an extremely important
aspect of the mission. The timely delivery of property and materials, from outside
vendors, may be challenging. As a result, when the need arises, base camps and
forward operating bases (FOB s) borrow materials from one another. Consequently,
outbound logistics is fundamentally important to the success of the mission.
Outbound logistic activities are initiated through a

27. Hebrew God Vs Sumerian God
Sumerian gods and the Hebrew s god were part of everyday people s lives. These
gods influenced people s decisions. The Sumerian worked to please their gods, and
the Hebrews view of their god was based on faith and obedience. The Sumerian
gods, as well as the Hebrew s god, were powerful. For instance, they could create
and destroy life, but these gods cared about their people as well. While the Hebrews
had a covenant between them and their god, that could not be broken if they wanted
to prosper, the Sumerian had the Code of Ur Nammu. This code was the will of the
gods and was administered by the state (Joshua J., 2014).The Hebrew s god was also
severe, strict and righteous. Breaking a clause of the covenant would result in facing
the anger of god.
The polytheistic religion of the Sumerian contrasted with the monotheistic religion of
the Hebrews. The people of Sumeria worshipped thousands of gods, and each city
state adopted a god as their protector (Hunt, Martin, Rosenwein Smith, 2013, p.10).
Moreover, the Sumerian built ziggurats, a temple tower, to please their gods (Hunt,...

The gods of both religions had control over all the different aspects of life such as
weather, fertility, and war (Hunt, Martin, Rosenwein Smith, 2013, p.10). For
instance, in the Book of Genesis 17:16 19, the Hebrew s god says to Abraham that
he is going to bless his wife, who is ninety years old, and he is going to give him a
son by her. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Sumerian god Aruru creates Enkidu to
destroy Gilgamesh (p. 3). Another aspect of the Sumerian religion is the god like
attributes of the Sumerian kings. This is reflected at the beginning of the Epic of
Gilgamesh: Anu granted him the totality of knowledge of all. He saw the Secret,
discovered the Hidden (p. 1). In the Hebrews religion, only god knows everything,
and he is universal and omnipresent. There is no one in the world more powerful than

The Fundamentals of a Leader Fate is as man made as I Phones. None of us are

achieve personal power. That is why Frederick Douglass succeeded in doing
something that other slaves did not not even bother trying. In spite of being born a
slave, Douglass is able to break free of the shackles of slavery and become a
winner and a successful leader by being sacrificial, perseverant and compassionate.

Most slaves in the autobiography, The Narrative of the Life of Frederick

especially in the scene where he finally has the chance to escape. A person,
imprisoned for his whole life, would take the opportunity of liberating himself
without any hesitation. Nevertheless, with liberation finally within grasp, the
thought of being separated from [his fellow slaves] struck Doglass so [painfully]
beyond expression that he had second doubts (Douglass 85). Even though he
actually did choose to escape, the fact that he actually cared to consider the lives of
others separates him from most of the other slaves. Most individuals don t undergo
the transformation from I to We (Tan). Simply said, they can t be compassionate.
Unless they are willing to take others into consideration, their efforts [will be]

lives of others always factors into Douglass decision making. Hence, compassion is
one of the traits that sets Douglass apart from other individuals, which ultimately

29. Afro-Cubans Resistance
Artistic Resistance In Venceremos by Jafari Allen, the author exposes some inherent
contradictions that ultimately prevent full incorporation into society for Afro
Cubans. In order to combat this exclusion, blacks in Cuba began to assert
themselves in spaces. It is through cultural and artistic expression that Afro Cubans
were able to establish not only communities of acceptance, but were able to form a
movement of resistance towards the marginalization of ones identity that was being
waged by the state. By utilizing artistic and cultural expression, such as film and
dance, Afro Cubans were able to take agency and fight against exclusion through the
formation of communal spaces, and placing themselves as subjects. Before
proceeding, it is pertinent to elaborate on what is meant by placing themselves as
subjects. This idea comes from Allen s discussion surrounding the resistance of
black folks. In quoting bell hooks, Allen says, we cannot enter the struggle as objects
in order to later become subjects. This quote essentially discusses the framing of
resistance and the importance of having a clear emphasis on black peopleas the
subjects. In my following examples, I have attempted to show how Afro Cubans have

of some revolutionary ideologies that viewed African descendendents as morally
deficient. Gomez s films represent black Cuban culture, history, and

Confederation
On July 1st 1867, British colonies the Province of Canada, New Brunswick and
Nova Scotia united to form a new country. This was a very important event in
history that created very important people. It is very much debatable who the real
father of confederation is, for example you could argue Sir John A Macdonald was
more important in uniting the provinces. Debating, who is the real father of
confederation is rather pointless because Sir George Г‰tienne Cartier is the real
father of confederation.
George Etienne Cartier was born on September 6, 1814 in St Antoine Rur
Richelieu. For the first part of his education he was homeschooled by his mother as a
result of no schools. At 10 years old, he was enrolled in Sulpician college de
Montreal. In 1831, he finished school and began his legal training at the age of 20
at a montreal s lawyer s office called Edouard Etienne Rodier.
On November 9th 1835, he was called to the bar of lower Canada. Amid the time he
was in the process of completing his legal training he worked with Joseph Papineau
and Robert Nelson. On June 24th 1835 he sung a song he had composed himself by
the name of O Canada mon pays, mes amours at a banquet that honoured the birth of
St Jean Baptiste Association . The year later he sung another song that he composed
called Avant tout je suis canadien which later became a rally call for French Canadian
militants at another banquet. Both these songs became an instant success and were
considered very patriotic.

In the book Horror in Architecture horror is defined in various ways, from horror
being the truth about abstraction, to horror reorienting the notion that what exists is
not necessarily all that might be. Eight different typologies of horror are identified
which includes Doubles and Clones, Exquisite Corpse, Partially and Mostly Dead,
Reiteration and Reflexivity, Incontinent Object, Trojan Horse, Homunculism and
Gigantism, Solidity, Mass, Stereotomy, Distortion and Disproportion. THESIS: The
architect Zaha Hadid has produced a number of works that fit into the Trojan Horse
typology of horror which includes the Vitra Fire station in Weil am Rhein, the
MAXXI museum in Rome and the 1st floor interior design she did for the Hotel
Puerta America.
THINKING OF USING THIS WHOLE PARAGRAPH FOR THE CONCLUSION:
Zaha Hadid s three projects in the aforementioned have various characteristics that
place her designs under the Trojan Horse typology. Joshua Comaroff and Ong Ker
Shing define the Trojan Horse as a less obvious but equally disconcerting form of
duality. It can also be perceived as a lack of indication about what is going on within.
The interior life of her project on the 1st floor of Hotel Puerta America can be seen
as the creation of an internal environment that aggressively erased the world beyond.

African American males struggle every day to prove their worth in an educational
setting. According to society these young men are when it comes to their peers. Early
education or daycare is a child s first educational learning experience outside the
home. However, not all African American males have this experience. A handful of
African Americanmales miss the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of
learning social and cognitive skills. As a result, the absence of the early education
effects the African American males ability to achieve higher learning. By the start of
elementary school, these young men are already behind their peers in learning new
information. In an effort to hide their lack of understanding they lose focus and
become disruptive and begin to act like the class clown. Although the blame shouldn t
be placed solely on them, their teachers play a major role when it comes to educating
the youth. They have to discover what inspires each child, yet they always seem to
abandon the African American male s interest and individual learning style. Young
men go through the school system experiencing deficiency when it comes to their
learning styles, due to the lack of teachers understanding their circumstances and how
to engage them. Every child, especially African American males can have a chance to
succeed in school if teachers have a full understanding of their cultural and learning
styles. Which leads them to seep through the education system,

In 1910, Jack London wrote To Build a Fire with the deliberate intention of
meticulously describing the setting for this particular piece. The author intently
puts all his efforts to create the setting as an important, valuable role in his main
theme. He purposely did not give a name to the man or the dog. He wants to make
sure the reader clearly understood the setting and the importance of its role in this
story. Mr. London explicitly intertwines his message on the ironic moral reality
that can fall upon each one of us. It comes down to a choice. Real consequences
happen. The irony can be seen through three different points as follows: the man s
pride, the dangers of 50 below zero temperatures, and the need to build a fire.
Although the man in this story has not been given a name, pride and arrogance
loudly scream from the very beginning to the very end. The first sign of pride
sneaked out in the open from the statement, He was not alarmed by the lack of sun.
It had been days since he had seen the sun (London). The man still chose to travel on
the main Yukon trail. Do not travel alone the old timer from Sulphur Creek advised
(London). Even though the man had very little knowledge and foresight of what lay
ahead on the open trail, the man laughed at the advice cautioning him on the extreme
cold. Dangers do have a way of attacking around the corner before you even know
what has hit you. Pride and arrogance protruded from the man each step he made on

Animation is an often under estimated medium, being seen as primarily for kids and
cute story s that somewhat lack in substance. But in recent years, companies like
Pixar have done a great job of making family movies which contain a strong
message. Wall E is one of those movies. The movie takes place in the future, after a
point where humanity has pushed the earthto a point beyond vegetation and is
currently living aboard a space ship, in which everything they need is done for them,
even walking. Despite its bleak premise, the title character, Wall E is a cute, lovable,
family friendly robot, who is in many ways more human than what s left of humanity.
We are introduced to a world, literally covered in garbage, that Wall E has been
sorting through for an unspecified amount of time, diligently doing his job to
compact and sort all the debris, left by his human creators. As the film proceeds, we
see what a lonely existence Wall E leads until Eve shows up with her unknown
directive, eventually becoming a friend to Wall E. As the film proceeds eventually
we find that Eve s motivation is to check whether the Earth is capable of vegetation
yet, for the humans now aboard the Axiom space station.
After following Eve back to Axiom, we find that through generations of over
reliance on the machines aboard Axiom, humans have become anti social, over
weight, lazy versions of their former selves. At this point, the message of the movie
starts to kick in and we begin to see where

the mother is speaking and the daughter is briefly heard. Evidence in the text that
proves the mother is speaking includes the speaker talking about household chores

Next, evidence that shows a daughter is briefly heard is the other character
interjects and asks a question. The character interjects when the mother asks if she

daughter would want to interject with her mother to tell her she did not sing an un
lady like song in. Also, the character asks what she should do if the baker will not
let her squeeze the bread to see if it is fresh. The mother replies by asking, you
mean to say that after all you are really going to be the kind of woman who the
baker wont let near the bread? This shows a mother is talking to her daughter
because the speaker sounds disappointed after her daughter she is still going to
have a bad reputation after all the mother has done for her. In conclusion, the
speaker in the text Girl is a mother and the person briefly heard is the daughter. This
is because the speaker is telling the other person tips to make chores easier and
advice for her life, which is something mothers do for their daughters. The other

When it comes to stop and frisk and Terry Stop, can be both good thing and bad
thing for our country. The good is if officer take there time and observe we can
help prevent a lot of crime. On the downside, these officers mostly target African
American and Hispanic males. Stop and frisk takes place when an officer feels it s
some type of suspicion about a citizen, they then stop you and frisk if they feel is
necessary. But not all of those stop and frisk are good, the statistics in New York
show that 9 out of10 stop and frisk are innocent. So what does this tell you? That
maybe as officers we should try a different method or a different type of citizen to
stop and frisk. The Terry Stop, however, is a bit different. Terry Stop came from a
case that took place in 1968 in Ohio; about a man who was stopped by an officer
who felt Mr. Terry was behaving suspiciously with two other friends. After reading

Jamal suddenly starts laughing, seeing his partner in crime being scared is
absolutely hilarious. I was just kidding idiot! Jamal continues on laughing, clearly
not caring if Laticus could be effected by this prank or not. Laticus is currently
sweating buckets, the sweat on her back could create a river as long as the
Amazon. Jamal! That s not funny at all! Laticus says meekly. Ah who cares! It s a

Medusa begins to scream again, shooting vines out of her palms aimlessly. Laticus
quickly grabs her rope, takes Medusa down to the ground and binds the creatures
arms with the rope. Medusa screams and starts to flail around, as if she was a fish
who was taken up to dry land and was losing oxygen. Jamal! Laticus says. She
quickly runs over to the small puppy still stuff in his vine cage. She tries to pull the
vines but they won t budge. She quickly retrieves her flaming sword and slices the
vines off. Jamal still has his eyes closed and whining pitifully. Laticus quickly hugs
Jamal in her arms, Are you alright Jamal? . Jamal s whines quickly die down and
he opens his eyes and focuses on his surroundings. He quickly gets out of Laticus
arms, I m fine! Pff! I was totally not scared or anything! . Laticus rolls her eyes,
Whatever you say. And can we please shut this old hag up! She s giving me a
migraine! . Laticus rips a piece of Medusa s tattered dress, scrunches it up into a
ball and shoves it into her mouth, effectively stopping the creatures screeches. Shall
we get going? Laticus says. Of course! Jamal says excitedly. The duo carry Medusa

43. Career Path to Become a Certified Registered Nurse...
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are one of the most advanced
types of nurses. They are responsible for providing quality anesthesia and anesthesia
related care in order to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures
(America Association of Nurse Anesthetists, 2010). While their services are mainly
used in the surgical setting, CRNAs can also provide assistance for pain management
associated with obstetrical labor and delivery or for chronic and acute pain. Although
they typically work under the supervision of Anesthesiologists, based on states
regulations and by laws, they may also work independently (Kansas University
Medical Center, 2014).
Nurse Anesthetists may work in a variety of settings from hospital ... Show more

CRNAs are a way to provide cost effective services as they are less costly to employ
than anesthesiologists, in a time where healthcare facilities are scrambling to cut
healthcare costs. As such, CRNAs will continue to be in high demand particularly
in medically underserved areas and as they continue to become more widely
recognized and accepted as a source for healthcare (Inner Body, 2013). Certified
Registered Nurse Anesthetists are one of the most stressful nursing specialties, yet
they are also one of the most lucrative. The median annual wage for a CRNA as of
May 2012 was $96,460, with the lowest paid and less experienced making
approximately $66,330 and the top ten percent and most experienced making slightly
over $161,030 (U.S Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014). As a
Nurse Anesthetist, there are many opportunities for advancement available especially
with additional education and increased experience working in the field. The more
knowledge one has as well as the higher the degree, certainly proves as cutting edge
on the healthcare field. For example, those with a Doctorate in Nursing (DNP)
versus those with only a Master s degree, are more likely not only get paid more, but
also be awarded more leading opportunities, such as being the
44. Quebec 1995 Referendum
What political consequences would have occurred if Quebec had voted Yes in the
1995 referendum?
Introduction
This discussion tackles the Quebec 1995 referendum, more especially regarding what
would have been the consequence of a Yes Vote during the referendum. This topic is
important, considering that it focuses on as issue of high political ramification, which
has also found subsequent applications worldwide, with several other sections of
different countries holding referendums to seek for a right to govern themselves as
sovereign states. The significance of this topic rests in the fact that the Quebec 1995
referendum had a long political history which did not have an implication on Canada
alone, but high potential implications on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, another political consequence that would have occurred if Quebec had
voted Yes in the 1995 referendum is that the newly formed state will have been
able to establish its own laws and political framework that is suitable to its distinct
political, cultural and social identity . This is because; with the continued existence
of Quebec as part of Canada, the Quebec province and its local government has
constantly been interfered by the federal courts of Canada, preventing it from
establishing laws and a political framework that is suitable for the province. Instead,
the federal courts and the Canadian federal government have always termed the
establishment of laws and a political framework that is suitable for Quebec as racist
and discriminatory towards the English speaking population in Canada .
Therefore, if the 1995 Quebec referendum has turned out to be a yes vote, the newly
established state would have managed to assert its own position, through
establishing own laws and a political framework that is suitable for its distinct
political, social and cultural identity, without being stopped or interfered by the
Canadian federal government of the federal courts . In this respect, the only way
through which Quebec could be able to establish a legal and political framework that
suits its unique identity as a Canadian province, is through gaining independence
from Canada, which is what the 1995 Quebec referendum vote would have achieved,
if it was a yes
45. School Is An Important Part Of Our Lives
School is an important part of our lives. School help prepare our children for
college and later on life in the big world. Since school is such an important part of
our lives, there are many types for schools that have been developed with different
viewpoints and ways of teaching. First, you have our public schools. Next, is our
religious affiliated private schools and our non religion affiliated private schools.
Lastly, are the alternative schools. Public schools are schools that are funded by the
state. A majority of students in the U.S. attend public schools. My children attend
public schools and in a public schoolthere is no need to pay money to attend public
schools. The good things about public schools is that it s free to attend and they
provide their students with school buses for transportation. Although, a bad thing
would be if you want your child to attend a certain public school and you do not
live their district, then you would have to pay tuition. Private schools are very
common especially in foreign countries. In foreign countries schools are private
because usually the government does not have the money needed to fund a public
school. There are two types of private schools; religious and non religious private
schools. Firstly, private schools are simply schools that are not funded by the state,
that have the ability to make their own codes and rules, such as wearing a school
uniform. In a religion based private school, the school is based around a certain
46. Example Of Sojourner Truth Speech
Sojourner Truth is a resonant name in both the women s and civil rights movements.
As an African American woman, Sojourner Truth existed in the intersection of two
largely oppressed groups and went on to become a prominent abolitionist and
women s rights activist in a transformative period for pre Civil war America. Truth
is most well known for the powerful speech she delivered at the 1851 Women s
Rights Convention in Akron, Ohio. Her speech was a clever, compelling, and bold
performance that gives us insight into perspectives of the women, especially Africa
American Women, of this era. Analyzing her speech transports us into the world of
abolitionist and feminist movements and provides a frightening yet affirming
example of how similar these thoughts can be to present day movements.
Sojourner s importance lays in the diverse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take for example, the case of Barack Obama, former President of the United States.
There existed a time when African Americans had no place in democratic society,
they were not even included in calculation of state populations. Fast forwarding from
18th century, it is dramatic that, not only, African Americans are included in the
democratic process but also that the United States voted into office an African
American President. In a similar light, we can look at the past presidential election
to see how female roles have expanded since the 18th century. Although she was
not elected, Hillary Clinton was the first women to ever run for president.
Compared to 18th century America, not only have women gained the right to vote,
but they have also greatly expanded their roles from homemakers to become
politicians, legislators, professors, doctors and all sorts of other professions. If we
went back in time to tell the people of Akron, Ohio in 1851 they would hardly
believe such a radical

Tip#11, Avoid tight hairdo
Trying different hairstyles is great and so original. Braids have been around for a
long time, but one thing about it is that most people who love to have braids (with
artificial hair) or use their own hair to make braids. These are very beautiful hairdos
but with when they are done too tight, with time it will result in hair loss, dandruff
(because you can t wash your hair with braids), and a very itchy scalp. And that is
not all; after you remove the braids, your hair will be dried up and come off as you ll
try to detangle it. The best alternative would be to:
Treat your hair before you decide to use extensions (where your hair needs to be
braided).
Go for a hairstyle that will prevent your hair from being damaged for being done ...

Drink up to 10 glasses of water every day.
This will be your exercise after reading this section; grab a pen and piece of paper
and start putting a list together with the veggies and fruits listed above, and slowly
insert them in your diet for better looking hair.
Tip#15, Try dry shampooto avoid collateral damage.
Dry shampoos can be found in the form of powers and sprays and are mostly
recommended because they are free from the unhealthy sulfates found in wet
shampoos. Dry shampoos are also known to absorb excess dirt and grease in your
hair without the use of water. They are ideal when you wish to straighten your hair
and don t want to deal with frizzy or curly hair (which most of time, occurs after a
shampoo).
Simply divide your hair in 4 (if you are not used to using dry shampoos), then start
spraying or sprinkling the dry shampoo into hair. Massage your hair for one minute,
and that s all you need to do.
After you are done with the dry cleansing process, style your hair as wished (do not
rinse your hair).
This technique will help you avoid over drying or over processing your hair, which
often happens with regular
48. Amy Tan Mother Tongue Summary
Amy Tan in Mother Tongue, argues that there are two different Englishes : formal
and informal. Tan claims that informal english often spoke with relatives and
friends, is as important as formal English, despite misuse of proper grammar. She
realizes her change in language after speaking to a large group about her book
using an academic approach of English, then saw her mother and notice that was
not the typical way she would speak with her. To Tan her mother s form of
speaking English is perfectly clear, despite other people who have said they are
unable to understand her at all. I agree with Tan to an extent we do speak
differently with our families. Most people especially those whose first language is
not english, tend to twist and structure the English language similar to their own
native language. This change of expression can make the user feel comfortable as it
is how they are accustomed to speaking. I am guilty of speaking how others speak
around me as well, it makes me feel closer to them through mutual understanding of
the frame of speech . However, by speaking English how we feel... Show more

My mother would speak to me in English which I understood, even though she
would phrase what she had said as if it were spanish. She would tell me something
like, Good so much is the bread , which in spanish would be correct. In english she
would come off as uneducated even though, she did speak much better than that
and is a very intelligent person. This type of use of the English language may not
be correct, but it is more personal than speaking formal in a straightforward manner
which is bland. It lacks the distinction of knowing who is closest to me by speaking
formed similar in spanish, which flows easiest when we speak. Speaking improperly
also reminds me when I was younger and was able to learn to speak correctly and
now having the ability to speak in my own personal or proper

50. Benjamin Netanyahu Research Paper
Benjamin Netanyahu is the current prime minister of Israel. He is a member of the
Likud party and has served other positions in the Knesset as well as prime minister.
As prime minister of Israel, he has made many efforts towards peace concerning the
Arab Israeli conflict. Though some may think that he has only prolonged peace,
others could argue against that. Benjamin Netanyahuwas born in Israelin 1949, a few
years after the beginning of the arab israeli conflict. Netanyahu is Jewish , and his
father was a Zionist. He grew up in Israel , but moved to America, where he got a
college degree. He went back to Israel to join the Israeli military in 1967. He took
part in special ops, one of his most famous operations was Operation Isotope. The...

The exception to this is Ayelet Shaked s idea for a NGO Transparency bill to be
passed. Netanyahu supports this bill but it has not helped his relations with other
countries, including Israel s allies, because many other countries do not like the
idea of the bill. This bill has been controversial, because it makes any non
government operations in Israel that get most of their funding from foreign
countries to say that they do when they are in the Knesset. This is believed to have
slowed the process towards peace. On another note, Netanyahu has been trying to
work towards the final agreement concerning the two state solution, but claims that
it can only work if Hamas loses political power, in fear that if they gain control of
Palestine , the security of Israel will be more threatened. Some may see these efforts
as working against the peace process, and others may commend Netanyahu for his
push towards peace. There is at least a plan created that , if Netanyahu and Abbas
work together, sometime in the future it is possible that both Palestine and Israel, will
have their own separate

In this essay, I will be proposing a suitable research method to identify the causes of
the 2011 London Riots that took place between the 6th August and the 10th August,
which resulted in lawlessness chaos, looting, arson, attacks, etc. My aim is to
determine why the riots happened, so that such violence can be prevented in the
future. I will do this using scientific methodology and choose the most appropriate
method for my research. Firstly, a summary of the Experimental Method. It originates
from a research question, but you could say the idea behind the question is derived
from intuition. This leads to a hypothesis, which is the initial building block in the
scientific method. Source: (Bradford, A. (2015) www.livescience.com) A hypothesis

There are a few different types of survey methods, one of them being
questionnaires. Questionnaires can be printed onto paper, then handed out to
people and posted through their doors, or they can be accessible through the
internet sent to people via email or completed as an online questionnaire. An
advantage of this is it allows minimal contact between the researcher and the
participant. The telephone surveys or the web surveys are more convenient for
participants to complete, in the comfort of their own home, or on the go, as long
as they are very brief, with only a few questions asked. However, it is very easy to
lie or exaggerate, especially if you re not directly in the presence of the interviewer.
This is where face to face interviews come in a direct way of obtaining information,
with the interviewer asking the participant questions. Also, if you are using random
sampling, you can easily select and ask random people on the road to take part in
your survey, avoiding

student s comprehension and mastery of concepts learned. Although this can reflect
an accurate depiction of their retained knowledge, many factors may affect the
recollection of tested material. Students of all ages can experience a certain level of
stress when entering the testing environment, which may have a negative impact on
their ability to recall information. This stress may reflect an inaccuracy of what they
