The Things They Carried Essays
Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Things They Carried" can be quite challenging due to the
complexity and depth of the subject matter. Tim O'Brien's work delves into the intricacies of the
Vietnam War, exploring the physical and emotional burdens carried by soldiers. To effectively
address this theme, one must navigate the nuanced layers of the narrative, analyzing the
symbolism of the items carried, the impact of war on individuals, and the blurred line between
truth and fiction in storytelling.
Moreover, writing an essay on "The Things They Carried" requires a keen understanding of
literary techniques, as O'Brien employs various narrative devices to convey the weight of
experience. Unraveling the narrative structure, exploring character development, and deciphering
the author's intent demand a careful and insightful approach.
Additionally, the emotional resonance of the subject matter makes it essential to strike a balance
between academic analysis and empathetic engagement. Tackling themes such as loss, trauma,
and the human cost of war requires a delicate touch, ensuring the essay is both intellectually
rigorous and emotionally impactful.
Furthermore, the wealth of existing scholarship on "The Things They Carried" adds an extra
layer of challenge. Crafting an original perspective while acknowledging and engaging with
existing critical discourse is crucial for producing a compelling and unique essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "The Things They Carried" demands a combination of literary
acumen, emotional intelligence, and the ability to navigate complex themes within the context of

Class Observation Report
Observation: Last week, a ball dispenser was out for the children to play with. It was
on the top of the shelf and Child A was trying to reach for it. Do you want the ball
dispenser Child A ? , I said. I took it from the shelf and put it on the floor; Child A sat
down. I pressed the switch and the ball came out from the ball dispenser. He smiled
and I said, Oh! There it is! as the ball rolled on the floor. He stood up walked towards
the ball and picked it up. He walked back and put the ball into the ball dispenser. He
stared at it for two seconds and he looked at me and said ooh as he raised his hands
on his side. I said, Where is it, Child A ? Where did the ball go? . I held his hand
and guide it towards the switch, and pressed it. He laughed and I clapped my
hands when the ball came out from the dispenser, Yaay! You found it, Child A , I
said. He imitated me and clapped his hands as well. He put the ball in again and
stared at it; I kept on looking at him to see if he would press it. He kept on looking
at me and on the candy dispenser while saying, Ooh ohhh . Where is it, Child A ?
What do we have to do? , I said. He was still looking at me and on the ball dispenser.
I assisted his hands on the switch again and after three tries he did it by himself.
Earlier today, children were playing with the ball dispenser as well. They were
dancing whenever they hear the music it plays whenever the switch was pressed.

A Second Argument Pro Life Advocates
A third argument pro life advocates have against abortion is regarding adoption.
They believe that it is better for a woman to give birth to her baby at term and give
it up for adoption than it is to abort it. They say that there are endless numbers of
couples in the world that are not able to conceive or it is not safe for the mother to
have children, that would be more than happy to adopt. As good as adoption is, the
reality is that it can be very hard emotionally for the birth mother. Placing a child up
for adoption can be very traumatic. The birth and the surrendering of the child may
prompt various phases of grief including shock and denial, sorrow and depression,
anger, guilt, and acceptance. Some women may feel it is easier emotionally to
terminate a pregnancyin the early weeks while it is only a small bundle of fetal
tissue. Going through a nine month pregnancy is a long and taxing process
physically, mentally, and emotionally. In another situation, a woman may feel
terminating her pregnancy is better than adoption if the father of the child has been
abusive and wants to keep the baby. At that point, not only does that put stress on the
mother thinking about the future for her child, but also brings more people into the
decision, which can cause a lot of strain. Another issue facing adoption is the reality
of many babies being born with serious physical and mental handicaps. Many women
abort their children after finding out they have some sort of
Government Leaks
Federal leaks are the epitome of most presidencies; and the government should cut
down on leakers by finding the source from where they are leaking the information,
and destroy it altogether. Leaking is a common occurrence, and impossible to
eradicate all together. The issue with most leakers is that they leak information that is
highly sensitive to important government and military action. This could include
positions where military commanders are moving their troops, interventions the
United States government is planning in other countries, and even to the President s
daily location. Currently, the government try their hardest to eradicate leakers
throughout the globe. To solve this epidemic for the last time, the government has to

But the leaks have been more and more prevalent in the new administration then in
the latter. In an article written by Van Hipp for NewsMax, he writes about all the
leaks that the President has gone through so far, and what he can do to stop them
from occurring. Within the grand scheme of all of these leaks coming out is the
fact that a majority of them were from disloyal employees of the Trump
administration. Most Presidential administrations know by now that leaks are a
part of the business, but it still is not good for them to occur. Van Hipp points out
all of the leaks that keep coming out of Trump administration, and how all of them
are for the worst. He lists off all of the information that has been leaked, and the list
is a doozy. The leaked info entails everything from Michael Flynn and fake news, to
the President s phone call with the Australian Prime Minister. Hipp also talks about
how to make it all worse, And to top it off, after White House Press Secretary Sean
Spicer and Counsel Dan McGahn met with dozens of White House Staffers about
leaks, their meeting and warnings were then leaked. The leaks are becoming so bad
that the meetings to talk about press leaks being

Comparison of Heuristic Algorithms of Renewable Energy Resources for Loss
Reduction in Distribution Network
Abstract This paper suggests four heuristic algorithms for optimal loss reduction of
power distribution network equipped with renewable energy resources. These
algorithms are Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA), Bat Algorithm (BA),
Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) and Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA).
Placing renewable energy resources such as wind turbine (WT) and photovoltaic
panels (PV) in certain locations in the power network with special sizes might share
in reducing the power loss , and consequently, improving the voltage profile. In the
present research, the heuristic algorithms are utilized to find the optimal ... Show

O PLF can be varied by simulation methods and analytical probabilistic methods.
Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) has been applied and introduced in [2,3,4]. The MCS
method analyzed the optimal probabilistic load flow under the uncertainty of load in
medium power systems. In [4] a technique combines Monte Carlo simulation
techniques and multi linearized power flow equations has been proposed, taken into
account the natural behavior of power production for renewable generation. The
proposed method in [4] has implemented providing accurate results but with a
considerable time consumption. In order to decrease the operation time, the
analytical probabilistic methods are anticipated. The main benefit of the analytical
methods is to avoid the massive calculation time, and to ensure the simplicity to
integrate more assumptions and complex mathematical techniques [5, 6]. Cumulants
mechanism combined with the Gram Charlier extension is offered to fix O PLF in
many manuscripts [7 9].
The unscented transformation (UT) method is applied in order to study the optimal
probabilistic load flow analysis under the uncertainty of wind farms [5]. The
modifications of Point Estimated Method (PEM) are utilized to solve O PLF in
power network equipped with wind turbines (WTs) and photovoltaic (PV) systems
[12]. Also, 3 PEM is used for PV source with Electric Vehicles (EVs) application [13].

Essay Examining the Irish Republican Army
Examining the Irish Republican Army Throughout history mass movements have
contributed to changing the face of the world. Some most notable are that of the
Bolsheviks and the Nazis. These movements and others like them have emerged as
a result of the mistreatment of people, to preserve a group of people or propagate
an idea or view. No matter the reason behind the start of the group, they all have one
goal; the end result of every mass movement is to bring change. The mass movement
that will be discussed is the Irish Republican Army, otherwise known as the IRA. The
catalyst that caused its formation, a specific identification and analysis of the
membership and the societal, religious, cultural, political, and national effect it had...

Beyond that, the goal of the Irish Volunteers was to Secure and maintain the rights
and liberties common to the whole people of Ireland. In fact, this goal was similar, if
not the same, only worded differently to the Irish Republican Army. Beyond that, they
were also established to enforce the imminent Home Rule Devolution. Act. Now,
these Volunteers were formed in response to the formation of the Ulster Volunteer in
1913. The Ulster Volunteers were founded by Protestant Unionists in the north.
Indeed, their goal was to stop the enactment of the Home Rule Devolution. Act.
Incidentally, the Ulster Volunteers were mainly against the Irish Volunteers because
they consisted of Catholics that wanted to be independent from British rule.
Meanwhile, the Ulster Volunteers wanted to stay under British rule (Irish Volunteers).
In brief, the Irish Volunteers exist to help keep the liberties and rights common to all
people of Ireland by enforcing the Home Rule Devolution. Act that the Ulster
Volunteers were fighting to abolish. However, during the events of the Easter Rising,
the Irish Volunteers were forced to disband. After their end, Michael Collinsand a few
other remnants took up the mantle and rebranded themselves the IRA. At first glance,
it would seem as though the IRA only exists because of the disbanding of the Irish
Volunteers. What is more is that they were members of the Volunteers continuing on
their goals.

My First Vacation Destination
In the summer of 2016 my family and I took a 2 week vacation to a couple
different locations we all wanted to visit. We decided to drive to our first
destination, which was a 13 hour drive! On the way to our first destination, we
stopped in Athens, Alabama to stay the night and aquire some grub. We were able to
eat some dinner while we were at the hotel and we ordered the most incomparable
pizzaever! The pizza place s name was Joe s Pizza The owner s name is Joe and has
multiple Guinness World Records for his pizza making skills. All the pizzas are
hand made and put into a brick pizza oven to accommodate just the right doneness
and taste. Then after that mouthwatering night in Athens, Alabama we decided to
drive on and continue to our first vacation destination. After a couple restroom
breaks and some lunch we finally arrived at Splash Resort in Panama City, Florida!
The ocean was breathtaking and as magnificent as ever it was one of those how can
anything be so beautiful kind of things. It just made me speechless, the water was
perfect, the air was warm, and I just wanted to jump right in and start swimming in
the water. While in Panama City we did a couple different activities. Some of which
included, obviously going to the beach for a couple of days.
The we went to the Ripley s Believe it or Not Museum. (As a matter of fact I really
enjoy their book they put out every year!) Which was quite interesting if I do say
myself. There were some crazy things in that quirky

Victorian Influence on Women s Fashions Essay
Before Research
Before the Victorian Era, the main focus of fashion was for men. Women s fashion
changed some, but the general idea of long skirts, tight bodices, and heavy fabrics
stayed consistent. Real changes to style and fashion were not made until about the
1840 s, when Queen Victoria came into power. After her rise to Queen, the fashions
began to change dramatically. Pride and Prejudice is a book written in this time,
and the fashion is clearly visible. Looking at fashion of the time can be clear
examples of social customs, role models, and other aspects of the time period.
The question to start off with is how has royalty affected women s fashions through
the ages? Royalty is influential on all sorts of things, so why not fashion? ... Show

The beginning of the civil war in America affected the cotton production, so fabric
became more scarce, leading into the next era, one that used less fabric. The early
bustle period featured a narrower skirt, with gathered fabric on the back. Bodices
ended at the natural waist. By 1877, the bustles had dropped to knees, leading into
the Natural Form period. By this time, a tall, slim figure was born. Dresses were long
and the bodice became long and tight. The Late bustle period brought the bustle
back into style. The skirts stayed long and tight, with a large amount of fabric
gathered in the back. The 1890 s saw the disappearance of the bustle for good. At
this time, skirts became plain, and the bodice was dressed up with frills and puffed
sleeves. The popular Pigeon Silhouette of the Victorian era was born. The Edwardian
Period was a time of ultimate femininity. The skirts became soft and flowing, and
the hobble skirt became popular (What is). This was probably the most interesting
part of my research, because I got a deeper look into the world of fashion.
The Queen s Fashion
I now needed to know what Queen Victoria did for fashion in this time period. I
learned through my next source that Queen Victoria and her daughters were often
fashion models for women of this period. Typical outfits of this time consisted of
cotton fabrics, as they were in abundant supply and allowed air into the often heavy
fabrics. Day dresses were worn inside the home, and were
Socioeconomic Factors Of The Salem Witchcraft Hysteria
In...
Salem Witchcraft Hysteria Salem, Massachusetts became famously known for the
witch trials that took place in the late 1600 s. For the men and women residing in
Salem, Massachusetts it was a time in which they lived in fear of allegations and
deceit. Twenty men and women lost their lives during what is known as the Salem
Witchcraft Hysteria. Socioeconomic tensions within the community are to blame
for the witchcraft hysteria in Salem, Massachusetts during the late 1600 s. Factors
such as politics, religion, and social status all played a role in the deadly and
devastating era. In Taking Sides: Clashing Views in United States History, U.S.
cultural and intellectual historian Paul Boyer and Professor Stephen Nissenbaum
argue in Salem Possessed: The Social Origins of Witchcraft, why they believe
socioeconomic tensions are responsible for the witchcraft hysteria in Salem. In the
same textbook, author Laurie W. Carlson expresses her beliefs in A Fever in Salem,
on why she feels the cause of the Salem witch hysteria had nothing to do with
socioeconomic tensions within the community. To learn more about the Salem
witchcraft hysteria, Historian Paul Boyer, and Professor Stephen Nissenbaum
sought to further understand the accusations of witchcraft. During the late 1600 s
life in colonial New England was one led by religion and politics. Salem was
broken up into two factions, Salem Village, and Salem Town. Salem Village, which
was led by the Putnam family was a rapidly growing
Bromden s Fog Analysis
Whenever Chief Bromden is scared or is off his medication, he imagines fog
rolling into the ward. When the fog drifts in, Bromden believes he can either strain
and look at things that appear in front of [him]...or [he] could relax and lose
[himself] (Kesey, 113). He embraces the fog as a way of escaping the stresses of
reality. It allows him to hide and forget everything that is going on around him. It
also makes him invisible to everyone else. Leaving the fog means being out in the
open where [he d] be easy to get at (Kesey, 112). Bromden is afraid of society as
seen by his purposeful refusal to interact with the other men and his wish to be
invisible. He would rather run away and hide than face a challenge. The fog is a
safe place for him because it gives him the opportunity to enact what he wants during
a stressful or scary situation. When a stressful or scary situation arises, he is able to

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) (also known as Obamacare ) is an historic piece of
legislation that has had massive effect on healthcare in the United States. Its systemic
effects on healthcare in this country are numberous, from insurance to ambulatory
care, from healthcare related taxes to healthcare resources, and beyond. That said, the

Introduction++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
The ACA is a relatively new healthcare reform in the United States. Obamacare
(which is perhaps the more popular name) actually has a long and complex history.
In fact, this complexity is refectled in its very structure, as the ACA is really the
composite of a number of other pieces of legislation such as the Patient Protection
Act (PPA), sections of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act (HCERA),
the Affordable Health Care for America Act(AHCAA), and also, the Student Aid
and Fiscal Responsibility Act (SAFRA). Generally speaking, all of these pieces of
legislation had, as their target objective, the goal of reforming healthcare in the
United States, so that more Americans had greater access to more affordable, better

Robert Browning s Dramatic Monologue
Robert Browning was a brilliant writer. The Longman Anthology of British
Literature says, More than any other nineteenth century figure, Browning shaped the
poetry of the twentieth, influencing British and American poets from, Hardy and
Yeats to Elliot, Pound, Frost, Lowell, and Stevens (1322). One of Robert Browning
s specialties was dramatic monologues. In his dramatic monologues, Browning
develops his characters really well. Throughout the monologue Browning shows
the true character of the person by not only what the character is speaking, but also
by idiomatic language, patterns of imagery, speech rhythms, and unintended ironies
(The Longman Anthology of British Literature, 1323). A good example of one of
Browning s dramatic monologues is The Bishop Orders His Tomb at Saint Praxed
s Church. In this monologue the main character is a Bishop who is trying to order a
very extravagant tomb for himself. Browning did such an excellent job at the Bishop
s character development that John Ruskin said that there is not any other writing
that portrays the Renaissance spirit its worldliness, inconsistency pride, hypocrisy,
ignorance of itself, love of art, of luxury, and of good Latin (The Longman
Anthology of British Literature, 1332). Browning portrayed this in only one
hundred and twenty five lines, which shows the brilliance of Robert s writing. The
Renaissance was full of a love of luxury. People wanted to have the best of the best.
Robert definitely portrayed this
Inventions In The 1920 s
There was a lot of invention in the 1920s that still are used today. From something

When the father takes Yunior on short trips in the van, so Yunior can practice not

interesting how Junior only experiences carsickness in the lime green van his

my curse . I can assume that since Junior first met his father s mistress during a trip
in the van, which leads me to believe that Yunior associates the vehicle with the
crushing emotional distress of learning of his father s infidelity. I feel the poem
Daddy is a work of rage and powerlessness of her hate towards her father s death and
then how she tried to control this rage by creating a new father in her husband. Her
husband is seen in two metaphors, a Nazi and a vampire. The vampire drank her
blood , which shows his possessiveness over her. Which correlates once more to
how her husband is a model of her father: they both confined her. The metaphor of
Nazis brings an understanding of her personal pain and suppression. In my opinion
of the two works the one that seem to deal with the theme in a more constructive,
realistic, or positive way is Fiesta 1980 . Parts of this story are funny, but mostly
there is a sense of real tension between the mother and her sons. However later in the
story even this relationship is a source of conflict as Yunior and Rafa must conceal
their father s indiscretions. I would argue that the brothers

As I said before, he is known as Vlad the Impaler (in Romanian is Vlad Tepes) and
this has an explanation. He liked killing and torturing people in artistic ways and
one of this, and the most known, is the impaling of people. He liked to killed
enemies by inserting a long stick made of wooden or metal through his enemies
bodies (the pole usually was inserted on the sexual organs and it would come out
through the neck or the mouth). He also tried to prolong this suffering on the
victims for hours, maybe days, just for his pleasure. Some of the atrocities he
committed was when he celebrated a party where lot of boyars were invited, and
he made them all being impaled with stakes. With the impaled bodies, he made
rows (in an artistic way) and this is known as the Forest of the Impaled. It is known
that he liked to take dinner in the middle of the forest of impaled people to see them
suffering until their death. It is a mystery, but it is a story that has been told, that he
like to drink the blood of his victims. However, this has not been

E payment systems are not a novel idea. Electronic money has been used between

been able to withdraw money from ATMs (automatic teller machines), and the use of
credit cards has also become increasingly common since then.
Credit Cards
Credit cards are currently the most popular payment instrument on the Internet. The
first credit cards were introduced decades ago (Diner s Club in 1949, American
Express in 1958). For a long time, credit cards have been produced with magnetic
stripes containing unencrypted, read only information. Today, more and more cards
are smart cards containing hardware devices (chips) offering encryption and far
greater storage capacity. Recently even virtual credit cards (software digital or e
wallets) are gaining progressive patronage.
Typically, the customer gives his credit cardinformation (i.e., issuer, expiry date,

Exploring the Relationship and Influence between Teacher...
The main purpose of this study was to explore the relationship and influence
between a teacher expectations and student achievements in class. Does that student
whom the teacher is always giving extra lessons and is always more patient with or
whom always takes the longest to answer a question, and is always called on, is he
the one who is getting the most out of that class? According to several studies and
experiments they all say yes and student does achieve to be more successful if their
teacher takes a little of their time to help the student and let them answer that hard
question with more time than the other students. Studies have shown that teachers
expectations are more likely to influence the student s performance. The attitude of
the teacher can change how they see the actions of a student and allow them to
make different opinions. As shown in Elisha Babad, Frank Bernieri, and Robert
Rosenthal s study (1991) from the book Social Psychology written by David G
Myers, students are very sensitive to teachers facial expressions and body movements
(111; bk.ch3). A teacher s attitude can influence their judgment of a student in class
room behavior; namely, their own attitudes can cause the fundamental attribution
error to occur as well as the Self fulfilling prophecy, as reflected in a student s
performance.
Psychologist Robert Rosenthal and Principle Lenore Jacobson performed an
experiment in which they told teachers that a handful of students were diagnosed as a

Women are like that . Written in a time of grace, elegance and beauty, Cosi Fan Tutte
was written at the height of music history the classical period. This opera uses a aria
and recitative structure meaning the singers adopt rhythms of speech between
arias (a solo voice performing a long song). The musical phrases balanced each
other equally as they were perfectly crafted. Cosi Fan Tutte was first performed on
26 January 1790 ( Program given at the event). This opera, Cosi Fan Tutte was
composed in a time of scientific, social experiments and in the era of the classical
period, but however, the whole set of the opera where the action takes place was a
strikingly simple set. It was not extravagant and costly as used in most other stage
performances of this scale. It was imaginative, functional and extremely realistic. The
glamour, tone, melody, and unabashed emotion in the voices of the characters was in
the foreground and highlighted because of this natural and simple set. Since this was
first performed late 18th century, the costumes designed are in this style. The
costumes gradually get less lavish and it becomes individual to the character. The
costumes portray
Modern Warfare
Modern warfare ranges from small to large campaigns with military fundamentals
shaping the battlefield. However, none has a more significant value as the Napoleonic
eras. Although France is no longer a dominant power, its military fundamentals
influence the United States (U.S.) military.
The U.S. military employs three Napoleonic era fundamentals of Command and
Control (C2), professional military, and nationalism. These fundamentals shape the
U.S. military during peace and war. Maintaining peace and winning wars are
important. To do that, large capable militaries are required with C2 and Napoleon
recognized this. Napoleon task organized the Army into Armies, Corps, Divisions,
and Brigades, centralizing C2.

CMTCs provided the foundation for CAM units deploying to a Full Spectrum of

Although conflicts tailor training, training is the number one reason the U.S. Army
is successful. Training is not something we do. It is what we do! A professional
military is not successful as a nation of support. France experienced a revolution, one
that brought change from mass politics to mass warfare to Europe. Napoleon
recognized this and benefited from the transition from dynastic to national warfare.
The French revolution had realized the idea for the citizen Soldier, committed to the
cause of the people, for which he fought. Napoleon exploited nationalism on his own
troops, rallying them to success. National success depends on every citizen. As the
French Army mobilized, its citizens did, too. Young men will go to battle; married
men will forge arms and transport supplies; women will make tents, uniforms, and
serve in hospitals; children will pick rags; old men will have themselves carried to
public squares to inspire the courage of the warriors, and to preach hatred of kings
and the unity of the Republic. Nationalism brought change to the world, as
monarchies were overthrown and people governments formed. Although the U.S.
formed prior to the French Revolution, its Nationalism has been prevalent for over
200 years. National support defines U.S. military success, as it did for Napoleon.
When conflicts are imminent, the U.S. military mobilizes

Mercedes and Nothing s Changed The poem Two Scavengers in a Truck, Two
Beautiful People in a Mercedes has been chosen to be compared with Nothing s

written this poem on the system of apartheid, which kept white and black South
Africans segregated. He writes that, despite the changing political situation, there are
still huge inequalities between blacks and whites. Two Scavengers… describes

This slows the poem down and gives the reader time to appreciate each idea. The
unusual layout of the poem suggests that it follows the poet s thought processes as
he observes the scene before him. The details build up gradually and are somewhat
reminiscent of stream of consciousness narrative. The poem is divided into three
sections. The first sets the scene (lines 1 9), the second adds detail (lines 10 30)
and the final section reflects on what this tells the poet about society as a whole.
The whole of Nothing s Changed has been written in present tense. Although he is
recalling a past experience, it is as if the poet is re living the experience as he
writes. The language that is used highlights the impression that segregation still
exists words and phrases such as labouring , anger and mean make the reader engage
with the poet s emotions. His anger is described as hot, white, inwards turning
/ anger . Literary features used in the poem are alliteration, repetition and assonance.
Comparison is done between the inn and the cafГѓ . The viewpoint in the poem is
also carefully established. The first stanza, for example, puts the reader in the poet s
shoes . A first person account makes it more likely that the reader will see things
from the poet s point of view . In the poem Two Scavengers… the language the
poet uses helps

One similarity between .ВЁ the sea bird chronicleВЁ and ВЁthe amazing penguin

Character Analysis Of Skellig
The novel, Skellig by David Almond, is a story of a boy called Michael who
discovers a strange creature in his garage. Michael is currently caring for his sick
baby sister who is visited by Doctor Dan, who Michael mocks as Doctor Death .
The reasoning for this is because of the black spots on his hands and of his pale
and gray face. Michael is correspondingly upset about moving houses and about
leaving his friends behind. Michael shows loneliness, unhappiness and he is worried
at the beginning, because Michael of the emotions and the characters in the novel.

Essay about Depiction of September 11th 2001 in the Media
It was Tuesday 11th September 2001 when two hijacked passenger aircrafts collided
with the World Trade Centre, bringing it to fall and kill thousands of people and
injure even more. Immediately, newspaper, television and radio journalists were
reporting, all with different views, opinions and facts.
The ways in which the tragedy of September 11th was reported and presented, in
newspapers, magazines and television broadcasts was striking and they varied
greatly, in particular by The Sun a tabloidnewspaper, The Financial Times a
broadsheet newspaper and a letter published in a commemorative magazine marking
the events of that day. Differences and similarities between the three sources were ...

The Financial Times a broadsheet newspaper, complies mainly with the usual
stereotype of itself, that broadsheet s deal very much with the information and
actual events of a situation. Smaller picture to text ratios are used and headlines
are rather more discreet. The Financial Times uses a picture that concentrates very
much more on the whole skyline of New York and the Statue of Liberty stands tall
in the foreground. The Financial Times has used this in their front page picture to
demonstrate how the tragedy has affected people on a much bigger scale across
America. The presence of the Statue of Liberty is included to show freedom and
hope for the American people, or, indeed to highlight the terrorist attempt to destroy
this. Bullet points at the top of the front page also show that The Financial Times is
a newspaper which focuses more directly on issues that affect the whole world, some
of these issues being, Finance, Travel and Tourism and Political issues.
They also attempt to use language that will appeal but direct it in a more formal way,
concerning different political and social aspects. The scale difference of pictures
between the two newspapers, allows room for the broadsheet to include columns of
text, beginning to explain and tell the events

Citizen Kane Film Review
Citizen Kane, some parts were bland and hard to follow, but in the end it all comes
together leaving the audience with an Aha moment. There was good sound quality
throughout the film, something a little unexpected in a film of it s age. Despite it
being in black and white the visual effects were interesting. At different parts of the
film close ups and backlighting are used, also due to the high number of flashbacks
there are many fade outs. The acting is of a fairly good quality especially
considering that during the film many of the actors were new to film. The storyline
is well developed although it can be hard to follow unless you pay very close
attention.

Facilitate Diffusion And Osmosis
There are numerous types of passive transport which are osmosis, diffusion,
facilitated diffusion and filtration however osmosis will be focused on the greatest
due to the relevance to the task.
Diffusion and osmosis are crucial processes in order to perform the experimental
EEI. Diffusion is the spontaneous movement of atoms, ions or molecules from an
area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. It typically occurs in
gas and liquid molecules when the surrounding cell has a higher H2O concentration.
The cell takes on or moves H2O with additional important molecules between other
cells enabling the cell to grow or swell. Diffusion can occur through a cell membrane
it allows certain molecules to pass through the cell with ease. While osmosis allows

Tonicity is the direct relation to the osmolarity of a solution, affects osmosis by
determining the direction of water flow. Extracellular solution can change the volume
of a cell by affecting osmosis. A solution with low osmolarity has a greater number of
water molecules relative to the number of solute particles; a solution with high
osmolarity has fewer water molecules with respect to solute particles. In a situation in
which solutions of two different osmolarities are separated by the permeable
membrane to H2O will change from the side of the membrane with lower osmolarity
to the side with higher osmolarity (Boundless, 2015). Isotonic solutions are two
solutions that have the same concentration of a solute. Hypertonic solution is one of
two solutions that has a higher concentration of a solute whereas hypotonic solution
has a lower concentration of a solute (Pearson Education. Inc, 2015). Osmosis is
known as the movement of H2O across a semipermeable membrane from a lower
solute concentration to a higher solution concentration. If two solutions of varying
concentrations are disconnected by a semipermeable membrane,

The Tax Reform Act Of 1997
There are only two things assured in this world: death and taxes. Whether you re a
corporate employee or an entrepreneur, you will have to pay your taxes. For every
entrepreneur, taxation is a very crucial factor in their financial investment s decision
making process because the lower the tax burden the higher the revenue which
equivalently paid out in forms of wages and salaries or dividends (Lynn, 2015).
The word tax comes from the latin word taxo which means I estimate. It varies
from different countries and how they are paid. In the Philippines, taxes can be
grouped to national taxes and local taxes. National taxes are those based on the Tax
Reform Act of 1997 also known as the Republic Act No. 8424. The Tariff and
Custom Code of the Philippines which levied the import and export tariffs (Republic
Act No. 1937) may be considered as a national government tax.
Under this group, we have the capital gain tax, documentary stamp tax, donor s tax,
estate tax, income tax, percentage tax, value added tax and excise tax. A capital
gain tax is a tax imposed on the earnings of a seller has gained from the sale of his
/her capital assets (Castillo, 2015). In identifying the capital assets, we need to
understand that the word capital assets mean property held by the taxpayer (Tax
Code Section 39). Documentary stamp tax is an excise tax levied on documents,
instruments, loan agreements and paper evidencing the acceptance, assignment, sale
or transfer of an obligation, rights, or

The placenta is made up of two morphologically and functionally distinct zonal

trophohoblasts and maternal blood vessels but no fetal vessel, and is the major site

Cultural Background In Alice Walker s Everyday Use
An education is considered to be one of the greatest gifts that anyone can receive.
However, many factors are put into play when it comes to acquiring and achieving
such an education, like socioeconomic status, race, and gender. Cultural background
is another one of these factors, as depicted in Alice Walker s short storyEveryday Use.
In the short story, Dee, who goes by the name Wangero, and her boyfriend end up
visiting her mother and her sister, Maggie. Dee is significantly more educated than
her family, as she was able to go to Augusta for school, while her mother had nothing
but a second grade education, and Maggie is stuck developmentally (Walker 316).
This difference between educational achievements between family members presents
a conflict, as Dee, now Wangero, wants to embrace more of her African roots, while
her mother, while perplexed to begin with, and comes to accept it (Walker 318). This
culminates in where Dee (Wangero) wants quilts made by her ancestors... Show more

Essay On Physics After The Discovery Of The Atom
PARTICLE PHYSICS AFTER THE DISCOVERY OF THE HIGGS
The world of physics had been developed a well established model of the atom. The
standard model had been pretty well tied up , with its group of 16 elementary
particles and their nice set of rules describing how they should interact. Physicists
had observed until the Higgs discovery, 16 of these particles. The crowd was
already beginning to desperate for a 17th particle that would send the model in new
and wild directions (supposedly). But the Higgs particle ruined the hopes and
expectations of everybody: it turned out to be very ordinary: its behavior was just
like the model said it would act, obeying every theorized rule [2]. Therefore, the
Standard Model is vindicated. And this was a ... Show more content on

The weak force, on the other hand, is associated with particles called W and Z
bosons, very massive comparing to the other particles.
The Higgs mechanism is thought to be responsible for this, now that the existence
of the particle is a fact: if we recognize the existence of the Higgs field, the W and Z
bosons mix with this field, acquiring mass, explaining the reason of why the W and
Z bosons have mass. This unifies as well the electromagnetic and weak forces into
the electroweak force. [4]
An interesting side effect, much less important than the discoveries, indeed, but with
enough importance for itself, is the validation of the large amounts of effort and
money invested in the equipment like the LHC. This flattens the road for the
investment in the next generation of scientific machinery to keep researching. After
analyzing the facts, this money is going to be very needed in the near future. It has
been theorized that dark energy is the bulk of the energy of the universe, and the dark
matter and energy existence is neither explained by the Standard Model. This model
canВґt explain gravity or the neutrino mass. Nowadays, scientific community knows
that the Standard Model is an approximation of another theory, more comprehensive
and able to explain the Higgs mass with a most natural approach. The reason is that
the measured mass of the Higgs is about 100 million billion times smaller than the

The Plan For Aviation And Aerospace Industry

Background
The aviation and aerospace is one promising front in terms of careers and
opportunities. Just like any industries in the 21st Century, aviation and aerospace
industry is a complex one that requires skilled labor in all of its ranks. The demand
for the various job positions in the industry is motivated by both inadequate skilled
personnel and the rapidly increasing demand for the airline transport. From the
beginning, aviation opportunities were believed to be only piloting, engineering, and

With the opportunities in the aviation industry in the open, it serves as a wakeup call
for individuals to pursue career choices that are aligned to aviation and aerospace
industry. Among all the choices in this industry, I particularly will single out one part
of aviation system: the airline ground staff, most specifically, the air traffic controller.
The air traffic controller job
Air traffic controllers are one of the most important airline ground staff members,
tasked with the role of keeping airlines separated when flying under instrument flight

The entry requirements for this post would have varied details between airline
companies but the standard requirements are minimum distinction in secondary

country that hosts the airline company. In most cases, the respective airline
companies provide training and certification programs for these positions.
However, before one is inducted into the air traffic controller programs, there are

This was a fairly simple and straightforward piece. It started out slow with small
building crescendos, which became more and more powerful. It had a dark,
moody sound and I think that I was played in a minor key. There were many
reverberating note to convey this eerie and sad tone. It became progressively more
dramatic and intense, constantly repeated with stronger tone color. The fifth piece
was called Epileptical Bipolarity by Chris Wheeler. The piece was written for
trumpet with a piano accompaniment. It had three movements; the first was
centered mainly on the trumpet. It started with low notes and a slow tempo and
built to a lively and quick expression of joy and energy. The second movement was
played with the trumpet muted. It was much, much slower in tempo and used
much lower notes, played within a very small range. The third movement starts out
livelier and continues with an upbeat sound. The melody seems almost
recognizable and is, therefore, comforting to listen to after the sad second
movement. Then the melody stops abruptly and the piano joins in to finish the

What Does Henry Fleming Symbolize In The Red Badge Of
Courage
John Tunis exposes Henry Fleming s true nature and emotions through examples of
motif and symbolism in his novel The Red Badge of Courage.
Although there are several different motifs in this novel, two main ones that I noticed
are: the idea of becoming a man, or the coming of age, and the constant them of
courage. Although the amount of time from the beginning of the book to the end is
only a couple of days, the amount of character development within Henry is
tremendous. At the beginning Henry is a boy who romanticizes and fantasizes about
battles and war, as stated in the first chapter, He had, of course, dreamed of battles
all his life of vague and bloody conflicts that had thrilled him with their sweep and
fire. In visions he had seen himself in many struggles... (P. 5). But, at the end of the
book he is a man who has experienced the real gore and grit of war and as he walks
away from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most popular examples of this literary device is the use of wounds,
more specifically the red badge of courage and what it really represents. In regards
to Henry s guilt Tunis narrates, At times he regarded the wounded soldiers in an
envious way. He conceived persons with torn bodies to be peculiarly happy. He
wished that he, too, had a wound, a red badge of courage. (p. 55) I found this quote
quite profound and selfish of Henry at first. Henry was not injured, and was that
not a blessing? But taking closer consideration I realized that the fact that he did
not have a wound to show on the outside of his body injured his pride quite a lot.
He wanted a wound to prove that he had fought bravely and courageously for his
country and for his men, instead of running from battle. The red badge of courage
symbolizes that a soldier had fought and sacrificed themselves to protect their country
and men most importantly, it proves this to other people. And, not having a red
badge of courage made Henry feel
Ghislain Magritte Essay
Rene Francois Ghislain Magritte was born November 21, 1898 in Lessines, in the
province of Hainaut, Belgium, he was the oldest child and his father was a
wealthy manufacturer. In 1910 at age 12 he started taking drawing lessons and in
1912 his mother had committed suicide by drowning herself in the river. The
legend says that Magritte was present when they had removed her body was
retrieved and is said to be the source of several of Magritte s painting in 1927 to
1928 of people s clothing covering their faces like his mother. Magritte s painting
can date clear back to 1915 and those early paintings were impressionistic in style.

This era is known to be Renoir Period and during this time he would produce fake
paintings of Van Gogh, Picasso, and Paul Cezanne, later to be taken about by his
brother Paul Magritte. Throughout Magritte s career his main style was a surrealist
style and he would rarely stray away from this from of work, most of the work that
he had created portrayed similar scenes and recurring themes. Magritte s favorites
happened to be creating a painting inside of a painting, floating rocks, he would also
use many inanimate objects, within a human figure to create the styles that other
artists did not use. Also during Magritte s career he would use famous paintings
created by other artists and put his twist of surrealism on the painting. One of the
most famous paintings he recreated was The Balcony by Edouard Manet. In this
painting Magritte showed his style by changing the images in the original painting to
coffins. He would create unique designs getting the viewers to look outside of the
box and focus on the distinctive features that were not originally
Common Themes In Susan Eloise Hinton s The Outsiders
At the young age of fifteen, Susan Eloise Hinton began writing The Outsiders, which
sold over four million copies in the United States. It helped alter young adult fiction
and was also made into a successful movie. Born in 1950 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Hinton
had both environmental and social influences that impacted her writing. She wrote
about events, problems, and changes that she noticed going on around her, which
allowed for her novels to be understandable and realistic. As stated in Susan Eloise
Hinton from Encyclopedia of World Biography, Although not a prolific author, S. E.

This was a time when literature became more serious topics that were realistic. The
Outsiders helped change the course of young adult fiction and shift towards
realism ( Hinton, S.E. ). In her teen years, S.E. got bored with most books because
they just were not realistic or relatable, so she decided to write something realistic
and accurate (Napierkowski). She did this by including edgy topics that most
authors did not address, but most people would understand and relate to ( That
Was Then, This Is Now). In The Outsiders, from Literature and Its Times, it states,
The Outsiders was one of the first novels to portray their world and the anxieties it
generated. Hinton s novel helped launch a movement called realism or new realism
in young adult literature. This movement focused more on being realistic, serious,
and believable in literature. Richard Peck said that in this movement it was popular
to write books about young people parents thought their children didn t know
(Literature and Its Times). Since The Outsiders was from the perspective of a
teenage boy, Hinton published the book with just her initials and last name instead
of her full name; this was so that boys would not know that she is a woman, and
may be more open to reading the book ( That Was Then, This Is Now ). Included in

Chemical Weapon Attacks
The threat of chemical weapon attack is very real; either in conventional warfare or
by a lone wolf terrorist group. This fact is buttress by the facts in the reading

with possible multiple injuries that may be conventional, and possible causalities
cutting across all age group. Route of chemical entry in to the body are usually by

  • 2. Class Observation Report Observation: Last week, a ball dispenser was out for the children to play with. It was on the top of the shelf and Child A was trying to reach for it. Do you want the ball dispenser Child A ? , I said. I took it from the shelf and put it on the floor; Child A sat down. I pressed the switch and the ball came out from the ball dispenser. He smiled and I said, Oh! There it is! as the ball rolled on the floor. He stood up walked towards the ball and picked it up. He walked back and put the ball into the ball dispenser. He stared at it for two seconds and he looked at me and said ooh as he raised his hands on his side. I said, Where is it, Child A ? Where did the ball go? . I held his hand and guide it towards the switch, and pressed it. He laughed and I clapped my hands when the ball came out from the dispenser, Yaay! You found it, Child A , I said. He imitated me and clapped his hands as well. He put the ball in again and stared at it; I kept on looking at him to see if he would press it. He kept on looking at me and on the candy dispenser while saying, Ooh ohhh . Where is it, Child A ? What do we have to do? , I said. He was still looking at me and on the ball dispenser. I assisted his hands on the switch again and after three tries he did it by himself. Earlier today, children were playing with the ball dispenser as well. They were dancing whenever they hear the music it plays whenever the switch was pressed. Dialogue Reflection: It seems that children
  • 3. A Second Argument Pro Life Advocates A third argument pro life advocates have against abortion is regarding adoption. They believe that it is better for a woman to give birth to her baby at term and give it up for adoption than it is to abort it. They say that there are endless numbers of couples in the world that are not able to conceive or it is not safe for the mother to have children, that would be more than happy to adopt. As good as adoption is, the reality is that it can be very hard emotionally for the birth mother. Placing a child up for adoption can be very traumatic. The birth and the surrendering of the child may prompt various phases of grief including shock and denial, sorrow and depression, anger, guilt, and acceptance. Some women may feel it is easier emotionally to terminate a pregnancyin the early weeks while it is only a small bundle of fetal tissue. Going through a nine month pregnancy is a long and taxing process physically, mentally, and emotionally. In another situation, a woman may feel terminating her pregnancy is better than adoption if the father of the child has been abusive and wants to keep the baby. At that point, not only does that put stress on the mother thinking about the future for her child, but also brings more people into the decision, which can cause a lot of strain. Another issue facing adoption is the reality of many babies being born with serious physical and mental handicaps. Many women abort their children after finding out they have some sort of
  • 4. Government Leaks Federal leaks are the epitome of most presidencies; and the government should cut down on leakers by finding the source from where they are leaking the information, and destroy it altogether. Leaking is a common occurrence, and impossible to eradicate all together. The issue with most leakers is that they leak information that is highly sensitive to important government and military action. This could include positions where military commanders are moving their troops, interventions the United States government is planning in other countries, and even to the President s daily location. Currently, the government try their hardest to eradicate leakers throughout the globe. To solve this epidemic for the last time, the government has to stretch... In an article written by Van Hipp for NewsMax, he writes about all the leaks that the President has gone through so far, and what he can do to stop them from occurring. Within the grand scheme of all of these leaks coming out is the fact that a majority of them were from disloyal employees of the Trump administration. Most Presidential administrations know by now that leaks are a part of the business, but it still is not good for them to occur. Van Hipp points out all of the leaks that keep coming out of Trump administration, and how all of them are for the worst. He lists off all of the information that has been leaked, and the list is a doozy. The leaked info entails everything from Michael Flynn and fake news, to the President s phone call with the Australian Prime Minister. Hipp also talks about how to make it all worse, And to top it off, after White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and Counsel Dan McGahn met with dozens of White House Staffers about leaks, their meeting and warnings were then leaked. The leaks are becoming so bad that the meetings to talk about press leaks being
  • 5. Comparison Of Heuristic Algorithms Of Renewable Energy... Comparison of Heuristic Algorithms of Renewable Energy Resources for Loss Reduction in Distribution Network Abstract This paper suggests four heuristic algorithms for optimal loss reduction of power distribution network equipped with renewable energy resources. These algorithms are Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA), Bat Algorithm (BA), Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) and Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA). Placing renewable energy resources such as wind turbine (WT) and photovoltaic panels (PV) in certain locations in the power network with special sizes might share in reducing the power loss , and consequently, improving the voltage profile. In the present research, the heuristic algorithms are utilized to find the optimal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... O PLF can be varied by simulation methods and analytical probabilistic methods. Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) has been applied and introduced in [2,3,4]. The MCS method analyzed the optimal probabilistic load flow under the uncertainty of load in medium power systems. In [4] a technique combines Monte Carlo simulation techniques and multi linearized power flow equations has been proposed, taken into account the natural behavior of power production for renewable generation. The proposed method in [4] has implemented providing accurate results but with a considerable time consumption. In order to decrease the operation time, the analytical probabilistic methods are anticipated. The main benefit of the analytical methods is to avoid the massive calculation time, and to ensure the simplicity to integrate more assumptions and complex mathematical techniques [5, 6]. Cumulants mechanism combined with the Gram Charlier extension is offered to fix O PLF in many manuscripts [7 9]. The unscented transformation (UT) method is applied in order to study the optimal probabilistic load flow analysis under the uncertainty of wind farms [5]. The modifications of Point Estimated Method (PEM) are utilized to solve O PLF in power network equipped with wind turbines (WTs) and photovoltaic (PV) systems [12]. Also, 3 PEM is used for PV source with Electric Vehicles (EVs) application [13]. Meta heuristic optimization techniques have

  • 9. Victorian Influence on Women s Fashions Essay Before Research Before the Victorian Era, the main focus of fashion was for men. Women s fashion changed some, but the general idea of long skirts, tight bodices, and heavy fabrics stayed consistent. Real changes to style and fashion were not made until about the 1840 s, when Queen Victoria came into power. After her rise to Queen, the fashions began to change dramatically. Pride and Prejudice is a book written in this time, and the fashion is clearly visible. The early bustle period featured a narrower skirt, with gathered fabric on the back. Bodices ended at the natural waist. By 1877, the bustles had dropped to knees, leading into the Natural Form period. By this time, a tall, slim figure was born. Dresses were long and the bodice became long and tight. The Late bustle period brought the bustle back into style. The skirts stayed long and tight, with a large amount of fabric gathered in the back. The 1890 s saw the disappearance of the bustle for good. At this time, skirts became plain, and the bodice was dressed up with frills and puffed sleeves. The popular Pigeon Silhouette of the Victorian era was born. The Edwardian Period was a time of ultimate femininity. The skirts became soft and flowing, and the hobble skirt became popular (What is). This was probably the most interesting part of my research, because I got a deeper look into the world of fashion. The Queen s Fashion I now needed to know what Queen Victoria did for fashion in this time period. I learned through my next source that Queen Victoria and her daughters were often fashion models for women of this period. Typical outfits of this time consisted of cotton fabrics, as they were in abundant supply and allowed air into the often heavy fabrics. Day dresses were worn inside the home, and were

For the men and women residing in Salem, Massachusetts it was a time in which they lived in fear of allegations and deceit. Twenty men and women lost their lives during what is known as the Salem Witchcraft Hysteria. Socioeconomic tensions within the community are to blame for the witchcraft hysteria in Salem, Massachusetts during the late 1600 s. Factors such as politics, religion, and social status all played a role in the deadly and devastating era. In Taking Sides: Clashing Views in United States History, U.S. cultural and intellectual historian Paul Boyer and Professor Stephen Nissenbaum argue in Salem Possessed: The Social Origins of Witchcraft, why they believe socioeconomic tensions are responsible for the witchcraft hysteria in Salem. In the same textbook, author Laurie W. • 14. Robert Browning s Dramatic Monologue Robert Browning was a brilliant writer. The Longman Anthology of British Literature says, More than any other nineteenth century figure, Browning shaped the poetry of the twentieth, influencing British and American poets from, Hardy and Yeats to Elliot, Pound, Frost, Lowell, and Stevens (1322). One of Robert Browning s specialties was dramatic monologues. In his dramatic monologues, Browning develops his characters really well. Throughout the monologue Browning shows the true character of the person by not only what the character is speaking, but also by idiomatic language, patterns of imagery, speech rhythms, and unintended ironies (The Longman Anthology of British Literature, 1323). A good example of one of Browning s dramatic monologues is The Bishop Orders His Tomb at Saint Praxed s Church. In this monologue the main character is a Bishop who is trying to order a very extravagant tomb for himself. Browning did such an excellent job at the Bishop s character development that John Ruskin said that there is not any other writing that portrays the Renaissance spirit its worldliness, inconsistency pride, hypocrisy, ignorance of itself, love of art, of luxury, and of good Latin (The Longman Anthology of British Literature, 1332). Browning portrayed this in only one hundred and twenty five lines, which shows the brilliance of Robert s writing. The Renaissance was full of a love of luxury. People wanted to have the best of the best. Robert definitely portrayed this

I can assume that since Junior first met his father s mistress during a trip in the van, which leads me to believe that Yunior associates the vehicle with the crushing emotional distress of learning of his father s infidelity. I feel the poem Daddy is a work of rage and powerlessness of her hate towards her father s death and then how she tried to control this rage by creating a new father in her husband. Her husband is seen in two metaphors, a Nazi and a vampire. The vampire drank her blood , which shows his possessiveness over her. Which correlates once more to how her husband is a model of her father: they both confined her. The metaphor of Nazis brings an understanding of her personal pain and suppression. In my opinion of the two works the one that seem to deal with the theme in a more constructive, realistic, or positive way is Fiesta 1980 . Parts of this story are funny, but mostly there is a sense of real tension between the mother and her sons. However later in the story even this relationship is a source of conflict as Yunior and Rafa must conceal their father s indiscretions. I would argue that the brothers

The main purpose of this study was to explore the relationship and influence between a teacher expectations and student achievements in class. Does that student whom the teacher is always giving extra lessons and is always more patient with or whom always takes the longest to answer a question, and is always called on, is he the one who is getting the most out of that class? According to several studies and experiments they all say yes and student does achieve to be more successful if their teacher takes a little of their time to help the student and let them answer that hard question with more time than the other students. Studies have shown that teachers expectations are more likely to influence the student s performance. The attitude of the teacher can change how they see the actions of a student and allow them to make different opinions. As shown in Elisha Babad, Frank Bernieri, and Robert Rosenthal s study (1991) from the book Social Psychology written by David G Myers, students are very sensitive to teachers facial expressions and body movements (111; bk.ch3). A teacher s attitude can influence their judgment of a student in class room behavior; namely, their own attitudes can cause the fundamental attribution error to occur as well as the Self fulfilling prophecy, as reflected in a student s performance. Written in a time of grace, elegance and beauty, Cosi Fan Tutte was written at the height of music history the classical period. This opera uses a aria and recitative structure meaning the singers adopt rhythms of speech between arias (a solo voice performing a long song). The musical phrases balanced each other equally as they were perfectly crafted. Cosi Fan Tutte was first performed on 26 January 1790 ( Program given at the event). This opera, Cosi Fan Tutte was composed in a time of scientific, social experiments and in the era of the classical period, but however, the whole set of the opera where the action takes place was a strikingly simple set. The ways in which the tragedy of September 11th was reported and presented, in newspapers, magazines and television broadcasts was striking and they varied greatly, in particular by The Sun a tabloidnewspaper, The Financial Times a broadsheet newspaper and a letter published in a commemorative magazine marking the events of that day. Differences and similarities between the three sources were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Financial Times a broadsheet newspaper, complies mainly with the usual stereotype of itself, that broadsheet s deal very much with the information and actual events of a situation. Smaller picture to text ratios are used and headlines are rather more discreet. The Financial Times uses a picture that concentrates very much more on the whole skyline of New York and the Statue of Liberty stands tall in the foreground. The Financial Times has used this in their front page picture to demonstrate how the tragedy has affected people on a much bigger scale across America. The presence of the Statue of Liberty is included to show freedom and hope for the American people, or, indeed to highlight the terrorist attempt to destroy this. Bullet points at the top of the front page also show that The Financial Times is a newspaper which focuses more directly on issues that affect the whole world, some of these issues being, Finance, Travel and Tourism and Political issues. They also attempt to use language that will appeal but direct it in a more formal way, concerning different political and social aspects. The scale difference of pictures between the two newspapers, allows room for the broadsheet to include columns of text, beginning to explain and tell the events

Citizen Kane Film Review Braden, Kyle Liz Citizen Kane Film Review Citizen Kane, some parts were bland and hard to follow, but in the end it all comes together leaving the audience with an Aha moment. There was good sound quality throughout the film, something a little unexpected in a film of it s age. Despite it being in black and white the visual effects were interesting. At different parts of the film close ups and backlighting are used, also due to the high number of flashbacks there are many fade outs. The acting is of a fairly good quality especially considering that during the film many of the actors were new to film. The storyline is well developed although it can be hard to follow unless you pay very close attention. The director and lead

  • 29. Facilitate Diffusion And Osmosis There are numerous types of passive transport which are osmosis, diffusion, facilitated diffusion and filtration however osmosis will be focused on the greatest due to the relevance to the task. Diffusion and osmosis are crucial processes in order to perform the experimental EEI. Diffusion is the spontaneous movement of atoms, ions or molecules from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. It typically occurs in gas and liquid molecules when the surrounding cell has a higher H2O concentration. The cell takes on or moves H2O with additional important molecules between other cells enabling the cell to grow or swell. Diffusion can occur through a cell membrane it allows certain molecules to pass through the cell with ease. While osmosis allows plants to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tonicity is the direct relation to the osmolarity of a solution, affects osmosis by determining the direction of water flow. Extracellular solution can change the volume of a cell by affecting osmosis. A solution with low osmolarity has a greater number of water molecules relative to the number of solute particles; a solution with high osmolarity has fewer water molecules with respect to solute particles. In a situation in which solutions of two different osmolarities are separated by the permeable membrane to H2O will change from the side of the membrane with lower osmolarity to the side with higher osmolarity (Boundless, 2015). Isotonic solutions are two solutions that have the same concentration of a solute. Hypertonic solution is one of two solutions that has a higher concentration of a solute whereas hypotonic solution has a lower concentration of a solute (Pearson Education. Inc, 2015). Osmosis is known as the movement of H2O across a semipermeable membrane from a lower solute concentration to a higher solution concentration. If two solutions of varying concentrations are disconnected by a semipermeable membrane,

For every entrepreneur, taxation is a very crucial factor in their financial investment s decision making process because the lower the tax burden the higher the revenue which equivalently paid out in forms of wages and salaries or dividends (Lynn, 2015). The word tax comes from the latin word taxo which means I estimate. It varies from different countries and how they are paid. In the Philippines, taxes can be grouped to national taxes and local taxes. National taxes are those based on the Tax Reform Act of 1997 also known as the Republic Act No. 8424. The Tariff and Custom Code of the Philippines which levied the import and export tariffs (Republic Act No. 1937) may be considered as a national government tax. Physicists had observed until the Higgs discovery, 16 of these particles. The crowd was already beginning to desperate for a 17th particle that would send the model in new and wild directions (supposedly). The weak force, on the other hand, is associated with particles called W and Z bosons, very massive comparing to the other particles. The Higgs mechanism is thought to be responsible for this, now that the existence of the particle is a fact: if we recognize the existence of the Higgs field, the W and Z bosons mix with this field, acquiring mass, explaining the reason of why the W and Z bosons have mass. This unifies as well the electromagnetic and weak forces into the electroweak force. [4] An interesting side effect, much less important than the discoveries, indeed, but with enough importance for itself, is the validation of the large amounts of effort and money invested in the equipment like the LHC. This flattens the road for the investment in the next generation of scientific machinery to keep researching. After analyzing the facts, this money is going to be very needed in the near future. It has been theorized that dark energy is the bulk of the energy of the universe, and the dark matter and energy existence is neither explained by the Standard Model. This model canВґt explain gravity or the neutrino mass. Nowadays, scientific community knows that the Standard Model is an approximation of another theory, more comprehensive and able to explain the Higgs mass with a most natural approach. The reason is that the measured mass of the Higgs is about 100 million billion times smaller than the value suggested by

Although there are several different motifs in this novel, two main ones that I noticed are: the idea of becoming a man, or the coming of age, and the constant them of courage. Although the amount of time from the beginning of the book to the end is only a couple of days, the amount of character development within Henry is tremendous. At the beginning Henry is a boy who romanticizes and fantasizes about battles and war, as stated in the first chapter, He had, of course, dreamed of battles all his life of vague and bloody conflicts that had thrilled him with their sweep and fire. He wished that he, too, had a wound, a red badge of courage. (p. 55) I found this quote quite profound and selfish of Henry at first. Henry was not injured, and was that not a blessing? But taking closer consideration I realized that the fact that he did not have a wound to show on the outside of his body injured his pride quite a lot. He wanted a wound to prove that he had fought bravely and courageously for his country and for his men, instead of running from battle. The red badge of courage symbolizes that a soldier had fought and sacrificed themselves to protect their country and men most importantly, it proves this to other people. And, not having a red badge of courage made Henry feel
